The Amy-Paul break up is so so sad 2 me its so sad, up until that moment they’ve both been getting something genuinely essential from the relationship. To Amy, Paul’s affection must feel ridiculously unconditional which is something she craves so deeply! He likes her so much and she doesn’t even have to try! He doesn’t even care that she catfished him! He wants to spend time with her even if she puts boundaries on their relationship and says they can’t do anything physical and he respects that. And for Paul, Amy’s actually treating him like an equal — someone older than him, someone with more life experience than him, actually thinks he has worth and potential and merit on his own outside of his family relationships. Of course it feels good for both of them, of course they want that! AND THEN suddenly Paul is asking Amy for money and then Amy is belittling Paul and the illusion is broken and there’s no coming back from that. And then later, it’s Danny telling Paul that Amy called him a child that triggers him so badly, she was the one person he thought didn’t see him that way 😭
#okay okay I’m going to sleep now#these aren’t even deep thoughts IM SORRY I just need to get them out#beef netflix#beef spoilers#amy x paul

BEEF on Netflix is soooo good! I can't be surprised though because A24 is really good at doing things differently (e.g Euphoria, Moonlight, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Midsommer, Hereditary, Pearl, etc)
I don't know what I loved the most - Touching in mental health, complicated family dynamics, people getting absurd revenge or phenomenal Asian representation? It was as all amazing!!
That being said, we need to address the fact that Danny was fucking awful. He was so selfish and shortsighted and no matter how much context we have on why he is the way he is, he is unforgivable and I'm glad that Paul finally cut him off. Choosing to involve himself with Isaac again and again just showed me how useless he was
On the other hand, despite some bad choices that Amy made - most of what she did wasn't that bad to me 😭😭 I support women's rights and wrongs unfortunately - also I hated George so that helped lmao
Basically the whole show was incredible, and whether I was angry at Naomi and Jordan, or learning to like Fumi - I was having a great time!
Watch our YouTube video and let us know what you think! Do you agree or disagree with out opinions? I wanna know ☺️

sex, drugs, etc. - amy price x edward nashton (NSFW) ₊‧꒰ა❤︎໒꒱ ‧₊
{contains: descriptions of smoking weed/being high, established trust/consent, descriptions of intox kink, oral sex (fem receiving), and a handjob.}
note: oh hey, here's that gotham oc i was talking about awhile ago! i hope you like her. please. from now on, feel free to request anything with amy!

"Hold it, hold it, hold it!"
Edward's reddened, forest green eyes were glazed over with glossy sheets of tears as he coughed hard, a cloudy puff of smoke bursting out from his mouth.
Amy was a good smoke buddy. She'd laugh at Eddie's inability to hold his smoke for more than a few seconds, but her presence still comforted him. She would dance with him when he was feeling the mile high elation and would pet his hair and shush him when he was feeling the gnawing paranoia. She was good for braving new storms in general, always so willing to hold his hand and dive into the abyss together.
His crush was abounding and hopeless, needless to say. There was no way the breathtaking mess that was Amy Price had time for the mushy gushy romance that Edward Nashton daydreamed about. It ripped his heart into bloody, jagged pieces, the thought that he'd never be able to have her in the way he really wanted. But what he had with her now was beautiful. Being her friend was a rollercoaster, a bright, supernova explosion...damn it, it was just fun to be her friend. So he would continue to buy weed from her and help her dye her hair in her bathroom and watch scary movies with her at midnight and he'd do it all with a smile on his face, never expecting more than what he already was blessed with. He couldn't afford to fuck it up.
Amy giggled as Edward shook his head rapidly. Droplets of tears poured from his eyes as he exploded into a guttural cough. "Gettin' better," Amy bit sarcastically as she waved away his smoke.
She was lucky enough to be one of two residents in her small complex. This wasn't without reason, though. The paint was peeling and the area was sketchy. Then again, what area of Gotham wasn't infected?
Her apartment reeked of a nauseating mix of weed and YSL perfume, but there was also something undeniably alluring about it to Edward. The trailing scent that Amy left on his jacket had served as shameful masturbation material for months now. God, he needed her. He'd take each little fragment, every little piece from the trail she left. Every hug that lingered a little bit too long to be considered just friendly. Every sly smile she'd thrown at him while watching the high wash over him. You're so cute when you're high, Eddie, she'd say, and he would have her smokey words memorized almost instantly to replay in his mind for later.
She was doing it on purpose. She had to be, right? She knew how tightly she had him wrapped around her finger. She knew that he'd do anything to make her smile, to see her happy. And deep down in her mind, she knew he'd do anything she asked him to. He'd humiliate himself. He'd be her bitch. It was all about her, and she knew it.
But he never expected to actually hear it, which is why he nearly went into cardiac arrest when Amy asked if he was a virgin one night while they were listening to records in her room.
"I...I'm sorry?" Edward managed to choke out.
"You don't have to answer if it makes you uncomfortable," Amy mumbled. "But I had an idea."
For fuck's sake. Edward was already in danger of fainting from the sheer percentage of blood rushing to his dick. "Uh...yeah. Yeah, I am. Why?"
A dusting of pink brushed itself across Amy's cheeks. Edward cracked a smile; it was a little sweet to see Amy finally falter in some way. She was so carefree and confident that many times Edward had wondered if there was anything that could make her blush or break. He had never once considered that it might be him.
"If you wanted it to be...I don't fucking know dude, special? With someone who really cared about you? Then. Y'know..."
He was really going to faint. He was sure of it now.
Amy took the look of whiplashed shock on his face as apprehension, disgust. "I'm so sorry. Man, it was stupid for me to even bring up. I'm a dumbass. I'm sorry, Ed."
Edward shook his head rapidly as Daniel Johnston continued to drone from Amy's dusty record player in the corner.
"No, no, it's not stupid. That's...that's really kind of you."
Amy peered up at him from where her eyes were drilling into the ground shamefully. "Yeah?"
"Yeah," Edward nodded. "Just kinda scared, that's all."
Amy nodded.
They sat together for awhile in the gentle quiet. Edward thought about the times where Amy had paid for their restaurant food when his card declined. Or the times she'd driven him out of the city and to somewhere with clear lakes and thick-leafed, lush green trees. Or the times he had laughed with her until they were crying, the times she'd hummed him to sleep when the blood-stained nightmares came crawling into his brain. He had never had the courage to say it out loud or even entertain the thought of it for more than a few passing seconds, but in this moment, he was sure of it: he loved her.
"S'really not as scary as people hype it up to be," Amy said, breaking Edward from his rushing waterfall of thoughts.
He shook his head. "Easy for you to say."
Amy scoffed. "Callin' me a slut? I've been around the block, can't deny it."
She scooched closer to Edward. His cheeks burned. "But it's never mattered like it would matter with you. Unless you don't want any strings attached. I'd understand that."
Edward sensed a pang of disappointment ringing in Amy's voice, and his heart lurched. Never in a million years did he suspect Amy would want something more with him. Maybe just for fun on a drunken, sloppy night. But she meant it. She was serious. Jesus. This is the part where he really passes out this time.
It seemed Amy could sense the strings of tension tugging on Edward's heart. "Hey, I got another idea. How about we get high, and then it happens."
Edward laughed and pushed his glasses back up his nose. "That's your solution to every problem, huh, is just to get high?"
"Not every problem! Look, I was just thinking like this: when you get high, you normally begin to stop giving a fuck about most things. If you're high, you have less to worry about. Your brain can just go on autopilot. You can just be."
Edward nodded. Despite the raging thundercracks of anxiety rippling through his body, it did sound nice. To be able to shut his worries off and just let it happen.
Finally, he sighed and nodded. "Alright."
A grin spread itself wide across Amy's face. "Alright then. Hey, you stoplight me. Say red if you ever wanna stop. Red and it's done and we don't talk about it again. Yeah?"
A firecracker burst of energy and color exploded in his gut as he realized it: it was actually going to happen. That thing that he had dreamed about each night as he rutted into his hand and let his pitiful whines slip out from his throat. It was happening.
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
It was raining, the night that it happened. They laid together on Amy's bed, the lights dim and the lofi music crackling on low. Edward listened to the sounds of the dark thunderclouds rumbling and the cold droplets of water pinging against the windows as Amy kissed him and rubbed a soft, gentle hand against the skin of his thigh. His hands trembled as they found a spot on the curve of her hips. He was sure she could feel how painfully hard he already was, and half expected her to laugh in that cruel cackle she always let loose. But she was soft with him. She kissed him gently and pet his head sweetly and God, if it had been possible to fall for her any harder, Edward was there.
Edward's head swam as Amy pulled away. "You remember?" she asked, her voice low and gravelly. "Red and we stop."
Edward felt the time around him liquefy as he blinked and nodded.
A deep warmth crackled and popped in his stomach like a burning campfire as Amy pulled down the boxers she was wearing. She ran a finger up and down her cunt, and Edward let a single, small gasp escape from him as she held the finger out. It was glistening in the dim, orange lampshade light, and he felt his own precum dribbling down to his thigh.
Amy grasped for the bedsheets as Edward dipped down to latch his tongue onto her. Her hips swiveled around as Edward sighed into her. He couldn't help the crooked grin that plastered itself across his face as he lapped gently at her clit. Her quiet little gasps and soft sighs went straight to the tightening knot balling up in his stomach. He'd never really stepped out of the dark in his life before. It was always the cold, the black, the grime, the grit, the pain...but her. There would never be a beam of warm, sparkling, assuaging sunshine like her. Maybe through this, he was finally doing something that felt right. Something just. Something good.
Amy laced her fingers through Edward's tangled hair and tugged. He whimpered at the burning shoots of pain that shot through his scalp. He wondered if Amy's brain was melting like he felt his was. Maybe she got high so often that she was just used to it at that point. But to Edward, this was enchantment. This was bewitchment. This was trust like he had never imagined possible. This was magic.
Amy pulled Edward's face away from her dripping cunt and motioned for him to sit back up.
He did as he was told swiftly, and Amy tugged on the elastic waistband of his boxers.
"You tell me."
Edward nodded rapidly. "Green."
She pulled the waistband down and gently wrapped a hand around his throbbing cock, spreading the glistening pearls of precum around his shaft. Edward closed his eyes, feeling the crashing waves of his high and his pleasure washing through his whole body. The warmth of them both swam around his brain and poured down into his curling toes as Amy slowly pumped her hand up and down.
Everything around him was dripping into one melting pot: the different flecks of grassy green in Amy's sparkling eyes. The droning music pouring from the record player. The spattering rain drizzling from outside. Out there was cold and dark and reminded Edward of the nights he'd spent sick with nausea and nightmares. But here, inside Amy's glowing room, his body pressed against hers...in here was safe.
Safe. What a concept. It always felt right out of his grasp, just an inch out of his reach. But that was the right word for what he felt with her. He felt safe.

PAUL CHO — summer prompts 🍋
A/N: let’s give it up for our beloved himbo, paul 👏🏽 beef is relatively a good show minus that disgusting being that shouldn’t be welcomed back next season. I was just happy to see Steven in more work and was definitely checked in. Although the posts are now dry in the beef tag, especially for Paul! I’m still going to drop this and head out. The Cho bros deserve some love and something easy, although this is mainly Paul focused! The point still stands ☝🏾
PROMPTS from here + using: i. one passes out from heat stroke & ii. 3AM convenient store run for slushies and snacks.
Paul knew that the both of you shouldn’t have been outside today. He was perfectly fine being locked up in his empty apartment, streaming live on twitch for income with the AC and fans on full blast. However he let you, his best friend persuade him to get out of the house.
Being locked up in the house became a routine after everything went down. Paul didn’t want anyone inside of the apartment, including his own parents who spent their time in a motel while they waited around wishing and praying on Danny’s well-being. Paul cut most of his other friends off and fell into a dark space as everything that unfolded began to truly settle in.
It wasn’t until you came along, threatening and ready to break the door down did Paul let you in. Even if you weren’t talking, he still sorta enjoyed your company since the apartment felt lonely and stuffier than usual.
Despite the warnings of the heatwave, which made news that it would be approaching the city a week prior, you thought it was a good idea to head out to the pier on a early Saturday afternoon.
The both of you took the hour and in a half ride out to the pier, with you driving Danny’s rusted truck since your 2008 Mitsubishi was in your cousin’s shop with its radiator being worked on. The ride was peaceful enough, with the stereo on blast and the windows down but talking about what transpired was Paul’s boundary that you respected while you still came around.
You hoped he would too.
The sun was roasting down on the both of you as you trailed along the deck, a few people were also walking but not much: one woman with an umbrella who carried on in the opposite direction, a elderly man with a bucket hat on was up ahead by the edge fishing, and a family was tending to each other as the mom attempted to soothe her screaming baby who seemed to be upset that their maybe five year old brother smacked their now melting ice cream to the ground, the father seemed to be hiding his laughter with his own ice cream while he kept a tight grip on the leash of their fluffy white dog, until his wife started fussing him out.
Paul watched them for a moment on your way by, even turning over his shoulder to continue watching them while he held onto a yellow slushie, and you were right beside him with your water filled tumbler that you barely took a sip out of.
“The big brother looks like a turd,” Paul comments as he turns back to face your direction.
You shrugged, “I would have yanked my sister by the edges if she did me like that on this hot ass day.”
“He’ll learn.” Paul answers with a small grin by his lips.
He suddenly stops and hands his passion fruit slushie to you, “Hold this for a sec, I’m taking my shirt off. It’s seriously sticking to my stomach.”
Stopping you take the beverage as Paul swiftly yanks his shirt over his head, and throws it over his shoulder before the both of you carry on walking, “That’s better.”
“Did you even put sunscreen on?”
“Of course I did. You only reminded me thirteen hundred times this morning.”
“I mean on your torso, smart ass.” You motioned while Paul glanced downwards and hummed thinking about it.
“Uh…I didn’t think about that. Maybe I would have considered it if we went to a nude beach,” he smirks and bumps his shoulder with yours.
Scoffing you stop walking and reach out to pull on his wrist. Paul turns to you as your now searching your Prada mini backpack for the aerosol free sunscreen.
Paul gives you a look, “really?”
“Yes, really. You are not getting a sunburn on my watch, bestie. I don’t want to hear you bitch and moan about it later. Now be thankful I care and turn around.” You whirled your finger around, while cradling your tumbler underneath your arm and against your stomach as you shook the can about.
Paul rolls his eyes with a sigh before doing so and says, “I better not catch you looking at my ass.”
“Oh, brother.” You mockingly gag while Paul laughs.
You get to work spraying the sunscreen all over his back, hands feeling hot against Paul’s slightly sticky skin, rubbing the white residue in before gripping his shoulder to spin him around to spray his front.
“Go ahead, I’ve always known you wanted to cop a feel.”
“Nope! You’re gonna do that yourself since you want to act like a pig.” You mockingly give him a smile before twisting the can and shoving it into Paul’s hands.
Paul’s laughing as he did the honors and bites down on his bottom lip, “is this doing it for you?”
“You’re nasty,” you scrunched up your nose before throwing the sunscreen back into your expensive bag which was your first big purchase all on your own due to finding your place in the cam career field, “and I’m strongly considering karate kicking you in the throat.”
“Hey! You’re supposed to be hyping me up.”
He began to flex and pose on the pier. Sunlight hitting him just right along with the gold chain around his neck as his tawny skin shined underneath the rays.
“Not when you do douchebag things, babes.” You snapped and pointed at him before you walked away.
Paul’s getting a kick out of annoying you, it’s his thing. Always has been since the both of you went to high school together with you transferring from the east coast sophomore year. It wasn’t a instant thing of being friends, he just knew you since you were basically a friend of a friend’s sister’s new friend. He didn’t know how you did it being friends with his friend’s friend’s sister since she was a know-it-all who eventually ending up working in real-estate according to Facebook.
Imelda “Melly” Alcantara.
She ended up switching up on you senior year by trying to accuse you of flirting with her no good boyfriend that nobody in the friend group liked. He got handsy with you, legit tried to get up underneath your skirt at the lunch table but she only saw one side of it despite her twin brother telling her off and ready to throw hands at her smug boyfriend. Paul always suspected that Nimuel had a crush on you which you denied (he had quite a few girlfriends, some upper and under class throughout the years—basically he was in and out of relationships but all his exes had to say was, “he’s too sweet.”) once the both of you became close.
It would have been interesting to see where Nimuel ended up, since he was the only one that promised to keep in touch with the both of you out of the group. The both of you lost him not long after graduating, one day before his eighteenth birthday to a drunk driver.
Losing anyone is painful but losing someone you thought and wanted to be around forever is a indescribable feeling. You start to think about the what if’s and play the last memory you had of them along with the good ones. The light of the world dimmed a bit that night and that’s probably one of the reasons why you and Paul held on a little tighter to your friendship.
“You actually look like you need the sunscreen more than me,” Paul tells you as he peeks over at you, faintly remembering how hot your skin felt against his back. The sunscreen had to do something about that right? Paul thought.
The both of you were approaching the end of the pier where the seagulls squawked on and fled the closer you got. The sea smelled like salt and seaweed as the turquoise waves rolled underneath your feet, sparkling like diamonds with each way the rays hit the water.
“Hm.”
Your head seemed to pulsate a bit, along with a throbbing pain that started right after. Leaning against the banister, there was a smile that appeared on Paul’s face as he slurped down the rest of his slushie. The sea was kinda therapeutic and shit if you thought about it, Paul thought to himself while your thoughts were placed on mute.
He began speaking randomly about the water but nothing he said was heard. You fell to your right, tumbler clunking to the floor while you now lay on your side. Paul’s eyes are wide in confusion; it takes him seconds to spring up once he realizes it’s you on the ground. If it were any other time he would have assumed you tripped or something, you were kinda clumsy which is why you never made it on the cheerleading team (or step) with your other friend from the friend group, Shaina Kaylock.
Last Paul knew, she was studying to be a doctor and was all grins as she completed her bachelors that she posted on Instagram which was also her circular profile pic. She was always kinda spacey, loved to do shrooms, and was definitely a horse girl so Paul honestly assumed she would be a vet maybe instead of studying to be a whole oncologist.
A doctor’s a doctor right? Paul kinda wished Shaina was here right now you know? Since you just decided to take a nap on him.
“Hey, what the hell? C’mon, stop playing around.” Paul bends and reached over to pull on your bare shoulder but it’s dead weight as you’re now on your back.
He feels his heart almost spike at this image and his breathing halts at the sight of you. He tossed his empty cup to the side now, down on his knees as he grips your jaw and lightly starts tapping on your face. You don’t flinch even when he starts putting more force into those taps. Paul doesn’t even see any specs of sweat by your hair line and your skin feels dry, which is also weird to him since he saw you applying more black girl sunscreen to your face not long after your Uber dropped you off with a pocket mirror as your guide in his living room.
Your skin should at least feel tacky if not damp.
Paul was for sure not a doctor but this was terrifying to see. He’s screaming for help now but of course the pier is now empty before his eyes settle on a tumbler waiting to slide into the ocean. Careful Paul stretches his long limbs out for the bottle and snatches it towards him; he’s unscrewing the top and dumps some of the water on your face.
Still nothing.
Then it registers for him to check his pockets for his phone and he’s telling Siri to call 9-1-1 while his heart feels like it’s about to fall out of his ass.
A heat stroke.
You were so concerned about Paul not having any sunscreen on and you go and have a heat stroke on him.
The irony!
It’s five (if you could sync your thoughts with Paul, you’d tell him it’s nine but that would turn into a whole argument that you were not willing to waste your breath on) in the afternoon and your eyes are not the size of the moon since they’re still very much closed. Paul’s quietly entering back into the room and he notices that the cooling blanket that’s been on you since they loaded you into the ambulance has been removed.
Which means your shivering must have stopped.
Paul’s eyeing you as he listens to your heart rate, walking around your bed to place some snacks down onto the night stand. The minute he does take his eyes off you, Something to the right of him flings out in his direction making Paul jump.
“What the fuck?” His voice booms.
Your laughing while you pull your hand back to rest against your stomach, “gotcha!” You say before you fall into a coughing mess.
The scowl on Paul’s face turns to concern as he holds the slushie up to your lips, leaving you to take a sip and allow the blueberry slush to melt in your mouth.
“Yeah, I see you’re doing somewhat better.” He places it back on the stand before pulling a chair closer to your bed.
Slowly blinking you say, “…where am I? Who are you?”
“This isn’t a joke. I thought it was over for you and you’re still not out of the woods yet so I’d knock it off if I were you.” Paul folds his arms in front of himself.
So serious, that one.
You already knew this since there was a nurse who was in here not too long before Paul came back. She removed the blanket once there was no shivering and told you they were waiting on your urine test along with some other stuff you forgot, considering you were half-awake. You were sure the doctor would be back whenever since you hardly got any sleep in this kind of place.
“Oh-Kay then Paul, what did you bring me?”
Paul rolls his head to the side as he peeks at the snacks he went out and got for you. He knew how much hospital food sucked taking into account the one night he stayed up here with Danny, telling him exactly how he’s made him feel and that sure he’s wanted him out of his life but that didn’t mean Paul wanted his big brother dead.
He wasn’t sure what the nature of their relationship would be once he woke up and Paul was sure his parents would want them to mend it. However he was tired of his parents wanting him to sweep shit under the rug and ignoring the problem. It was time for Paul to do his own shit, for real this time.
Being in the same hospital Danny laid in was making Paul uneasy and you joking about your health without knowing the end result was making Paul triggered honestly. He’s also saw Amy on his way in but he didn’t want to bring that up either.
“I’ve got all your favorites. I didn’t want you to starve in here, your options are: mambas, sea salt and olive oil popcorn, lemon zing pistachios, or chocolate orange crips.” He blinks back over to you.
You reach for the crisps but Paul smacks your hand down, “I got you, relax.”
He pops the bag open for you while you hold your hand out for the snack. You waste no time slapping the orange crisps into your mouth and hum while exhaling in content, eyes closed.
Paul sniffs at the snack and pops one into his mouth, “it better be worth it for the price I paid for these.”
He shrugs after tasting it before tossing it up into your lap before folding his arms along the edge of the hospital bed. He places his chin on top of his clasped hands while you happily eat your snack before focusing on the energy of the room.
“We’re gonna be alright, kid. What did Bob tell us on the ride up to the pier?”
“I don’t want to quote fucking Bob Marley right now.”
“Well…” you clutched your pearls, “this is my message to you-o-o: thanks for the snacks and being here.”
Paul’s eyes are on yours now, “where else would I be? I’m not going anywhere.”
You shush him, “just take my love and don’t question it.”
“Fine…only if you agree to make out with me.”
“And he’s back! Over.” You respond into a makeshift walkie.
Paul winks just as you poke his cheek with a tired smile. He sits up after awhile, watching the profile of you as you seem to be okay and worked up a appetite when you probably needed more fluids on top of the IV in your left hand right now. You were always stunning to Paul no matter the stage and he almost passed out himself when you stood up from the couch in that tube dress you had on earlier.
Yet he had to keep his composure because you were simply his best friend. Although it slipped out sometimes and you brushed it off as mere flirting majority of the time, there were truths behind a good portion of Paul’s past statements. Putting the shallowness aside, he always admired how you were able to adjust to any situation and if the situation required for you to have a moment, you allowed it to be felt and picked yourself up just to carry on. You were also very nurturing which provided balance to Paul’s tenderness.
“I don’t know…you okay over there Pauly Wally? You’re looking like you’re a little bit in love.” You joke.
I might be.
Paul snorts instead and uses his fingers to close your eyes for you, “I think you need another nap.”
You laugh just as a knock is heard at the door. Both of your eyes turn to the door as Paul’s hand drops to rest against the one that just hid the crips behind your pillow. The both of you feel your lips twitch as the doctor enters the room, one of your fingers lifting to intertwine with Paul’s as the doctor is ready to deliver some news while the heat continues to steam outside.

Here are my (re)designs for Female!Sonic (still named Sonic, but she prefers to go by "Sony") and male!Amy (who will be named "Amias")
Amias would be voiced by Paul Rudd! 🤩😍 He's charming, hilarious, genuine and loveable, all the traits that make up Amy's personality!
I want to give a huge shoutout to my good friend @hedgethemaze who suggested the brilliant idea of having Sony voiced by Kristen Bell [x] [x] [x] She's so witty and energetic but can also do a variety of emotions as well, a perfect fit for Sonic 😀
And Tails would still be Colleen O'Shaughnessey because she’s the best
Hope you like 'em!

Hotch and Spencer are outside of the trailer next to the open window so you're able to hear their conversation with Ray's mother.
"Ray kept asking Paul to take the ninth step. 'Take the ninth step', he said."
"It sounds like they're making amends, but they're twisting it and trying to force people who have wronged them to make amends to them," Spencer says.
"Mrs. Donovan, did you hear the name of the girl that Ray's with?"
"He kept calling her Syd."
"Maybe she's the one calling the shots. She's the psychopath," you say to Em knowing she heard the conversation, too.
"If she did do it without his consent, they're going to be at odds. The first marital fight is supposed to be the worst. I'll be praying for you and Spencer."
You chuckle and shake your head.
"It might be the wedge that we need," you say about Ray and Syd. You take out your phone and call Penelope. You and Emly leave the trailer and walk away with the rest of the team. "Hey, did Ray Donovan file for a marriage certificate?"
"Not that I can see. However, I looked at that list again, and there's a Sydney Manning of Washington state who filed for a marriage certificate two days ago in Montana."
"Washington? We profiled North Dakota."
"She lived in North Dakota for the last four years, and it gets better or worse, rather. It turns out that Sydney was sentenced to mandatory rehab after serving time for a hit and run during which she was under the influence of alcohol and heroin."
"I bet she didn't volunteer for alcohol support."
"No, she was placed there as part of her parole."
"Alcohol and heroin. Isn't that the same combo that Ray's ex overdosed on?" Emily asks.
"Yes, it is, my friend," Penelope answers.
"So, both Syd and the ex have the same vice. Pen, check to see if there's a juvie record of the ex we can access," Hotch says.
She pauses to type. "Amy was pulled out of high school so she could go to rehab for alcohol dependency."
That's strange that she went to rehab for alcohol only. No heroin.
"No mention of the heroin?" you ask.
"What are you thinking?"
"Psychopaths will destroy anything in their path. What if Amy was in Sydney's way?"
"Garcia, where is Sydney's biological family?" Hotch asks.
"Spokane, Washington."
"Why was she pulled out of her home?"
"Her father was molesting her."
"So, Ray and Syd did meet after sharing similar backgrounds in alcohol support. If they're sticking to the pattern of making amends, Sydney's father's next on the list."
"Reid, you stay at the command center in case they double back. The rest of us are gonna go to Spokane," Hotch orders.
After hours inside the jet, you finally arrive in Spokane. There is a woman outside watering her plants who looks confused when you walk up to her house.
"May I help you?"
"Mrs. Manning, we're with the FBI. Is your husband home?" you ask.
"He's at work. What is this about?"
"Your daughter, Sydney, might be planning on hurting him."
"Sydney? That's Gary's kid," she says in disgust. "He hasn't seen her in years."
"Can you tell us your husband's work address, please?" Emily asks and takes out her phone.
"785 Halbrook Street, off Kirkland Road. He owns a gas station."
That's why they're hitting gas stations.
"Thank you."
"Wait, he has our daughter with him. Jamie."
You and Emily hop back into the car and drive to the gas station. You pull into the parking lot and tense up. Something isn't right. You get out of the car with Emily and look at the front door of the gas station. You lock eyes with Sydney who is standing in front of Ray, and he is holding a little blonde girl. That must be Jamie.
"Emily, it's them! Get down!"
Ray raises his gun and shoots at you, but you're quick to fire back. You duck from the flying bullets and pop back up to shoot. You look at Sydney and shoot, hitting her in the shoulder. She falls back with a scream, and Ray grabs her in a panic.
"Syd! Syd!"
He knows he will die if he continues to escape so he shoves Jamie back into the gas station and drags Syd as best he can back inside. Once you're safe from their bullets, you take out your phone and call Hotch. The rest of the team arrives in record time with police in tow. Hotch doesn't waste time and calls the store knowing Ray is going to want some medical supplies for his wife.
"What do you want?" he barks into the phone.
"Mr. Donovan, how are you doing in there?"
"How do you think I'm doing? You shot my girl!"
"No, it was one of my agents. She didn't have a choice."
"She has a choice. She could have shot me. Put her on the phone," he demands.
"I can't do that."
"Yes, you can. Put her on the phone. She needs to fix this shit."
"Y/N." You walk over to Hotch and he holds out the phone to you. "He wants to talk to you."
"Hey, Ray," you answer and look at the store. "If you come out, we can get Sydney to the hospital."
"She doesn't need a hospital. She's strong."
"Don't be stupid--"
"You don't be stupid," he cuts you off. "Now, get your men out of here so we can continue on as planned."
"We can't do that, Ray, and you know it. You have a little girl inside. God only knows what happened to Sydney's father."
"Justice happened to her father."
"He's dead?" you ask even though you know the answer.
"Damn right he's dead, and his kid's gonna be, too, if you don't get me a car to take us to Aruba."
"Fine. Let me see what I can do. Is there anything else you need in the meantime?"
"Some gauze and some booze, and none of the cheap kind, either."
He hangs up before you have a chance to respond. News crews have already arrived to get the scoop, but the police work to keep them as far back as they can. After hearing what they want, Hotch orders Rossi and Spencer to get to Spokane as fast as possible.
They get here after the sun has already gone down. Sydney doesn't have much time left.
"What do they want?" Rossi asks.
"Liquor and tickets to Aruba," you answer.
"You're not negotiating with them?" Detective Bates asks.
"No, but we're gonna let them think we are. Get them what they want. Y/N?" You look at Hotch. "Be careful."
"Yeah."
Spencer worries for your safety but you know he won't hurt you if you have the supplies needed to heal his wife. After obtaining the liquor and the medicine, you walk slowly to the front door and knock twice. Jamie inside jumps back in fear when Ray jumps to his feet.
"Move back!" Ray yells and points the gun at Jamie. "Move back or I kill this girl!" You raise both hands holding the items and step back per his instruction. "Back off!" He grabs Jamie and holds her in front of him like a shield with the gun pointed at her back. She is so scared that you try not to let her fear affect you. "I will shoot this kid! Back off!"
You back up some more which allows Ray and Jamie to reach the door. She simply unlocks the door, and the two of them back up behind one of the shelves in the middle of the store. You walk closer slowly and open the door, making sure he sees you're not armed and you have what he needs.
"Ray? Take it easy, okay?"
"You take it easy. Put it down!"
"Alright."
"Put it down!"
As you're putting the items down, you take note of the layout of the store. There is a back room but you're unsure if there is a door that leads outside. If there is, they probably have it locked. You look to the left and see Syd sitting on the floor with her back resting against a fridge of drinks. She looks at you through hooded, painful eyes.
"We got you the stuff you asked for. We're working on the rest." You keep your hands up in defense. "If you need anything else, you just pick up that phone. It's routed straight to us. Do you understand?"
"I should kill you right now. Back up."
"Okay. I'm leaving."
You hate to do it but you leave the gas station slowly and carefully. As soon as you're back far enough, Ray has Jamie lock the door again so he can tend to Syd.
"I didn't see a back door or anything. I'm sure there is but it's probably locked. Hotch, I can feel how desperate he is. All he needs is a shove, and I think I know how to do it. I have to pit them against each other."
"Jamie might be caught in the crossfire."
"I saw her. She's terrified. She'll stay out of the way. Plus, Ray will only be focused on Sydney."
"I trust you," Hotch nods.
Seconds later, the phone rings, and you answer it knowing who it is.
"Do you need anything else?"
"Where the hell is our car?"
"I need you to listen to me for a second. I know you've had a hard time with your father and everything that he did to you."
"Shut up. You don't know anything about me," Ray growls.
"Last year, your ex-girlfriend Amy was murdered. I know that."
"Amy committed suicide. She overdosed on PCP and alcohol."
"No, she was killed, Ray. They found heroin in her system."
"Amy never did heroin," he mutters.
"Exactly because somebody gave it to her. Why don't you ask Sydney about it?"
"Why? What does she--what does she have to do with this?"
"Ray, what's going on?" Sydney asks, her voice faint on the other line.
"Come on, Ray, think for a second. Sydney joined alcohol support right after you and Amy broke up. She could see you still had feelings for Amy, so Sydney needed Amy out of the way."
"You're out of line," Ray growls.
"Okay, then ask her. I guarantee when you do, she won't answer you. She'll only question you back."
"What are you talking about?"
"Sydney is the one who gave Amy the heroin. Go on. Ask her. I'll wait."
There is a pause before Sydney's voice can be heard.
"Hey, what--what's wrong, Ray?"
"Ask her, Ray. Get her to come clean."
"Did you give Amy heroin?" he asks her.
"Baby, what are you talking about? I love you."
"You hear that, Ray? We call that structural deception. She doesn't want to answer your question. She's only buying herself some time so she can think of something else to say to you."
"That's not true," he says to you.
"Ray, Sydney killed Amy. If you continue to press her, she'll try and use sexual distraction to get you to change the subject."
"Don't you talk about my wife like that," he shouts.
"What is she saying?" Sydney asks.
"Sexual distraction, Ray. You gotta listen to me."
"No, I'm done listening to you. Why don't you get us a car and some plane tickets, or I am gonna blow this girl's head off."
Ray hangs up and you hand the phone back to Hotch. You look at Sydney and Ray through the window, as much as you can through the various items and shelves.
"I think the seed of doubt was planted. All we have to do is wait to see if he takes it."
"What if he doesn't?" Spencer asks.
"He will. When he does, getting Jamie out is our only priority."
Time ticks by slowly, and you're not sure what is going on. Jamie goes to the front of the store alone, and you look over at the section where you last saw Ray and Syd. Something slams into your body and you gasp when you realize what the feeling is.
"What is it?" Hotch asks.
"He's killing her. Oh, God." You look at the side of the gas station and see Syd standing there, no longer in pain. "She's dead."
"How do you know?" Emily asks.
"I can see her spirit. She's standing outside on the left. She's dead. Ray killed her."
Ray stands up and begins pacing with his hands in his hair. He doesn't believe what he just did. The seed of doubt worked. Now all that matters is getting Jamie out of there safely. He disappears behind the counter again and Jaime walks closer and out of view. Seconds tick by before you see Jamie walk to the door without Ray.
"Where's Ray?"
Jamie unlocks the door and lets herself out.
"Morgan, go," Hotch says.
Derek takes off running toward Jamie and scoops her into his arms. He takes her to the side of the building where it's safe, and that's when all hell breaks loose. Ray must have used Paul's car keys because all you can see is a car barreling out of the store. Every agent and police officer shoots at the car but Ray is relentless. He is escaping no matter what. He tries shooting while keeping one hand on the wheel, but his aim isn't good. He crashes into a police car from behind. The car is riddled with bullets. He tries to floor it but a bullet goes through the windshield and into his forehead. Syd is in the passenger seat, dead.
At least Jamie is safe.
Against all odds, this case is one of the more sad ones. You felt their sadness, desperation, and pain. Both of them. They were lost causes and they didn't even know it.
Now back at home, you want to do something to replace the bad memories of the case with good ones of right now. Since St. Patrick's Day is this weekend, you're baking treats for the cookout JJ and Will are having for everyone at their house. The kitchen is a mess with flour everywhere, but you and Spencer are having fun.
All the baked goods you're cooking are dyed green for the holiday, so both your aprons are covered with green dye.
"See all this green, Spence? You can't pinch me now."
Spencer wraps an arm around your waist and scoops some green batter on his finger. He dabs the sweet treat on your nose, and you giggle from the coldness. He leans in and kisses you, and you kiss him back lovingly.
"What happened in the past that was painful has a great deal to do with what we are today." - William Glasser
