hello! i just wanted to ask you something but i really dont want it to come across rude or anything? i am just wondering how you sort of? justify continuing to stan key while hes showing such a bad track record over the past months? i wish i felt okay supporting him along with the other members but i really feel uncomfortable when he keeps doing and saying things that are so problematic.

hi dw it doesn’t sound rude! i’m just a little confused (my knowledge/awareness of recent stuff might be a bit limited as i’ve been busy lately!) i know some people have dropped both taemin and key for their colorist comments against minho which i completely understand/have shared on here, but i’d say both taemin and key are equally at fault for this (seeing as they treated the backlash in a similar way/their apology letters were similar too) so i assume this wouldn’t be your main driver for asking? i also know of the hyuna thing that’s since been deemed a mistranslation and deleted (i did reblog the original post of it and had distanced myself from him/posting abt him for a while but since then people have come out with the correct translation which boils down to them hanging out together in the past, which we all knew they did? yk it was also on amsat so im always a bit wary as to the tone/way things people say on tv reflecting their true feelings but that’s really sort of unrelated and a debate of its own) so idk if there’s anything else i’m not aware of that would also come into play here, in case there is i would def want to know to be able to gauge the situation as well. i don’t mean to undermine any of these things and generally like to reblog everything that happens of this sort so that those who follow me/check my blog are aware of it and get to make their own decisions on who to support and what to do moving forward so if i didn’t that would mean i didn’t see! i know people like to sort of bury these things under the rug and im not very online aside from my user tag (hehe<3) these days so that might be the reason.

I'm not into the 4th gen style so unfortunately lately the more I like a song, the less popular it gets. But Key literally killed it with killer and so far it's doing better than his previous releases. I know retro style is in but do you think his reign over variety is what's boosting his popularity now? (I'm talking about random people clicking on the song/video, not shawols who already love him or even people who heard it somewhere and liked it - since it's too early for that). I know he's not chasing views and neither am I but I think it's just interesting. And he deserves all the recognition as an artist, not just the funny guy from tv!

i definitely think his variety stardom is what gets people curious and clicking - for sure!

there's no point in denying that amsat and ila are huge boosters of key's popularity

people see kibum elsewhere, then see his video, then click - which makes the video more visible. which equals more curiosity ect.

but his creativeness, his talent, his sheer star quality is what makes people come back. makes them stay. makes it so with every comeback, he's gaining views and popularity.

and then, that creates more discussion - which creates more curiosity. i've seen a lot more of 'i've heard a lot about key...' from new viewers lately.

his reputation is really starting to preceed him.

and yeah, views are? idc ultimately, but i'm still totally gonna celebrate when he hits another figures milestone or record, because it does feel like vindication.

kibum does deserve the recognition for his musicality and recently, it really feels like he's receiving it.
