The last museum stop of my #vacation is the @beneskimuseum at #amherstcollege. This hidden gem of a gallery is damned near perfect. While it doesn't have gigantic sauropods filling up it's relatively small space it uses what it has better than any other natural history museum I have ever been to. Every bit of space is used efficiently and organized in a way that effectively conveys the themes of different periods or groups of animals without the viewer needing to understand the full breadth of paleontology or do a ton of reading to catch up, you can literally just explore and be like, "yeah, I get that." They even have specimen drawers you can pull out from the wall to get a close look at some very good examples of specimens from everything including jawless fish to amniote eggs. so my college is actually one of the many now cancelling class in the us. like many i’m shocked, scared, and nervous for the future.

i was saving this picture for a special occasion, but this feels appropriate. this is my favorite study space on my campus (can you tell why? 🌿). now i have to leave my campus for the rest semester.

fortunately i have a support system and family to go home to and the means to get there but many people don’t. the situation we are in is truly tragic. i wish I could help. i wish i could stop this virus that is hurting so many people. even though my freshman year of college will be tainted by this memory, there are people sick and dying.

please stay safe everyone. practice good hygiene. i hope we see improvements in our situation soon. this is truly tragic and very real now.
