I am once again fucking begging the community to stop writing everything other than identify-as identities out of the word alterhuman and now fictionfolk too

Alterhuman does not mean everyone who identifies as nonhuman on some level (oh and maybe otherhearted people too). Please for the love of all that is good and holy stop saying that. It means anyone whose identity falls outside of society’s idea of “normal human” - anyone with an identity alternative to humanity or that’s an alternative form of humanity. It includes nonhumanity, yes, but also otherheartedness, hearthomes, archetropy, plurality, daemonism, furry lifestylers, othervague folks, constelics, and so much more. Here’s the coiner’s words to prove it.

Fictionfolk does not mean anyone who identifies as a fictional character. It means anyone with an alterhuman connection to fiction of any kind. It includes fictionkin and fictives and such, yes, but also fictional hearthomes, fictionheartedness, soulbonders, fictional vaguetypes, fictional constelics, and much more. To collapse these words down to basically be synonymous with otherkin and fictionkin is to utterly defeat their purpose. Please stop defining us out of our own communities. Please stop erasing the existence of everyone outside of “identifies as nonhuman and/or fictional”.

i'm bothered by how fictionfolk seem to be treated. people want to have healthy standards between fictional identity and reality, but they do it so harshly to where they're discrediting others' fictional identities. they're not "yes, and...", they're just flat-out "no"-ing other's experiences.

source separation just seems to be flat out denying your identity instead of acknowledging how this reality works differently, or accepting the natural growth that occurs when living and learning new things.

it feels like fictional identities are "cool" yet extremely shamed.

So today I went to get a haircut —tomboy sidetails haircut being exact— and when I saw me in the mirror it was the first time in forever that I recognized myself.

Sure this human form isn’t ideal but it is me now, or at least similar to me. The body still needs work to be perfect but I am taking steps towards it.

i know this isnt exsctly the best question ive ever asked but uh. does anyone else have trouble calling people from their media characters. like for example feferi peixes. i personally knew her so to me it doesnt make sense to call her a fictional character but idk why this exactly happens

Sometimes I feel like fictionkind are like a completely different community from the more well known otherkin and therians that are often viewed as more serious

I’m a dumb silly guy but my identity shouldn’t be painted in the same way. It’s like I have to act all stoic and contribute something to the group if I want my fictionhood to be taken seriously

My identity is alterhuman and I hate that I have to fight tooth and nail for that to be seen by the community

It seems like (this could just be me, idk) in a lot positivity posts saying that otherlinkers are valid and no lesser then therians, otherkins and fictionkins, there is a switch between using the term copinglink and otherlink, as if they are synonyms. But they aren't. One is a subset of the other, which includes alot more in it's definition. If you only mean copinglink, and are excluding the rest of us linkers, then say so. And if you aren't, then be a bit more careful on your wording, please. I am losing it slightly with this, my anxious brain can't handle the fact I have no idea over where everyone stands on this, yet I want to know

Otherlinkers are extremely valid and awesome, and are no less then voluntary identities. No matter why they link, only the linker gets to decide if they are any less then, with there link types, just how polykins can have kintypes that are more important to them than others, etc.

I can't be the only one who thinks it's weird that dragons, angels, fae, birds, bats and insects are all grouped together under "wing(ed)kin" despite having literally nothing else inherently in common. Wings are just a body part, not any more special and significant than fur or teeth. It's like if there was a "hornkin" community for demons, dragons, antelopes and beetles.
