you know how rhodonite attracts students who want to play as jeannes and onyx attracts students who play as jacks? well what if quartz gains a reputation for jack jeannes. like sure, technically, only kisa has officially had the role, but practically, we also have fumi and sou and neji who switch their roles to whatever suits the script. even suzu has shown interest in playing jeanne roles despite always playing jacks, he just needs someone to guide him. kai basically reflects whoever his partner is, and mitsuki always plays jeannes but I'm sure he can also do jacks (maybe like a cold or elegant prince type). quartz didn't ever plan on it, they just accidentally created their own niche

Me: Wow, the Onyx and Rhodonite students are so refreshing as rivals in that they’re all so sweet and funny and helpful while also being competitive ☺️ I can’t wait to finally meet the Amber students too!
Utsuri and Kakuto to Kisa and Suzu, unprovoked: You’re ugly and stupid and we hate you 🖕🖕🖕

Chapter 1-Black Penny
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: You grew up in the hustle and bustle of a city most of your life, so you packed your few belongings and headed straight to New Orleans. You hoped to live a simpler, quieter life on the Historic French Quarter. By day during the week, you helped manage Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo Shop and by nightfall you tended bar at Black Penny on the weekends.
You were aware mutants existed, and believed them to be just as ordinary as you but only with extraordinary abilities. After living a few years in NOLA, you had a knack of picking them out in a crowd and treated them no differently than you’d treat anyone else. You had many run in’s with mutants on Bourbon Street, but none as impactful as the day you ran into Remy LeBeau.
A/N: Character Intro, She/Her Pronouns, GambitX!FemaleReader, GambitX!NonMutant, RemyLeBeauX!FemaleReader, Mutants, Post Deadpool and Wolverine, Post Void, New Orleans, Alcohol, Pining, Creole/French to English Translation

(f)- French
*I just want to disclose I am not a comic expert. Gambit/Remy LeBeau is very new to me and I’m doing my best to stay genuine to what I’ve researched online or from what I’ve seen in the D&W movie. I’m aware there was a HUGE controversy over his heavy accent/dialect and over his eye color in the movie, so I tried to incorporate both versions of each in my stories to satisfy everyone’s preferred Gambit/Remy style. (Personally, I loved Channing Tatum’s accent in the movie ☺️) I’m also cognizant that Gambit and Rogue are an item in the comics, but for sanity sake, Rogue will be a pastime only mentioned in passing if absolutely necessary so I don’t have to study in depth another character I’m unfamiliar with. (I need some brain space for real life stuff, too 😅) Anyway, I’m doing my maximum effort over here writing for Gambit/Remy, so when I do post my developing Gambit story, please, if you have comments or criticisms that don’t benefit anyone else’s appreciation of these fanfics, keep them to yourself and let the rest of us enjoy it. Thanks so much*

It was a particularly busy night at Black Penny. As live bounce music and jazz blared from the stage, patrons dance and socialize carelessly with each other while you hotfoot from one end of the bar to the other serving up shots and beers.
Tumblr media
You approach a man waiting patiently, his face downward hovering over a stack of playing cards.
“What can I getchya?” You ask him.
He began twirling an ace of spades between his fingers.
“(c) Kisa mwen ka jwenn pou ou?” You repeat.
The man lifted his gaze to meet yours with a mischievous grin stretching across his face. An eerie magenta glow softly radiated from his irises causing your jaw to drop. Your stunned reaction spurred him, causing his smile to widen and his eyes to glow brighter as the whites of his eyes began to blacken.
Tumblr media
“….woah.” You say under your breath.
The man chuckled, “(c) Ou dwe padone Gambit, cheri (You must pardon Gambit). When his eyes see somethin’ so (f)dulcet (beautiful), it be hard to hide it.”
You shook your head to refocus, “No need to apologize. This is a safe space for everyone. Just caught me off guard is all.”
You flash him a smile and a wink as he returned one to you, the whites of his eyes returning to ‘human’ version of normal and his irises became a shade of icy green.
“Nobody be lookin’ at me like dat wit’out runnin’ off. You weren’t scared?”
“Of course not. Takes a lot more than a pair of flashy eyes on a handsome face to scare me away.” You state.
He laughed as he adjusted in his seat.
“Dats good, dats good.” He said as he leaned forward on the surface of the bar.
“What are you drinking, Gambit?” You ask again.
“Sazerac. (c) Mèsi, cheri. (Thank you, darling).”
You bring the gentleman a rocks glass fixed neat with the amber-red reserve bourbon. He gingerly raised the glass to his nose, inhaling the oak wood barrel scent with hints of cherry, caramel, apples, and tobacco.
He hummed with satisfaction, “(c) Manyifik (Magnificent).”
You nod, then turn to walk away.
“Remy.” You hear him call to you.
“Pardon?” You say as you turn back to him.
“The name’s Remy LaBeau.” He reiterated cooly after taking a sip from his glass.
He averted his eyes to you, awaiting your name. You grin back.
“Y/F/N.”
“(c) Kontan rankontre ou, Y/F/N (Pleased to meet you).”
You feel your face go red as you laugh nervously.
“Same.” You managed to say before scurrying to the other end of the bar to wait on other customers.
♠️♥️♣️♦️
Remy sat quietly in his spot at the bar the entire evening, only ever looking up from his deck of Mavericks to catch a glance of you as you pass him. The crowd started to thin out as last call was announced.
Tumblr media
“One for the road, Remy?”
He beamed at you, “Oui, cheri. If you join me for one.”
You smile coyly, “I gotta close up, chief. How about this; I’ll bring you another Sazerac on the house, and I’ll take a rain check?”
You see the magenta glimmer in his eyes again.
“I like the soun’ of dat, cheri.”
You smile and nod then turn to the counter behind you to prepare his drink. You set it in front of him as he placed a $100 in front of you.
“You only had two. That’s too much.”
“(c) Pran li (Take it). For your generosity an’ da company.” Remy insisted.
Tumblr media
You beam at him, “(c) Ou twò janti (You’re too kind).”
He stood up from his stool, and fixed his collar on his leather trench.
“Until next time, mon cher.” He said smiling while standing tall opposite you.
“Orevwa, Remy. I’ll see you around.” You reply sweetly as you feel your cheeks heat up again.
Tumblr media
“(c) Mwen pwomèt ou pral (I promise you will).” He purred in his heavy honeyed Cajun accent.
He bowed, then turned on his heel to exit the bar. You released a deep exhale as if you hadn’t taken a breath since having met him that night.
♠️♥️♣️♦️
*I know this was a short one and I plan on a chapter 2. I’m just dipping my toe in the water here to see what feedback I get* 🥰

Jack Jeanne Complete Collection - Interview with Terasaki Yuka (Kisa’s Voice Actor) Translation
This short cast interview is from the Jack Jeanne Complete Collection art book!
Tumblr media
Ishida: What were your impressions when you first saw the setting of Jack Jeanne?
Terasaki: It’s a story about teenagers putting on plays together that’s drawn by the creator of Tokyo Ghoul, Ishida Sui-sensei. That information alone was all it took for me to be interested. I’m sure a lot of other people thought the same.
Since it’s a story that takes place in a theatre school, I found the way it's like a game meets theatre to be unique. I also found the aspect that the shows are put on by an all male cast to be really intriguing.
Ishida: When you were voicing Tachibana Kisa, were there any aspects of your performance that you had to be careful about?
Terasaki: Kisa is a character herself, but she is also the stand in for everyone that’s playing the game. That’s why I stuck to the initial impression of the script as much as possible without adding too much of my own flair. I wanted her to be ‘transparent’ like Quartz.
In the romantic scenes especially, I want the player to have their heart racing over what Kisa’s love interest is saying and focus on them. So during those scenes I made sure to act out Kisa’s emotions more subtly. I’d like for those playing to be able to decide their own colours for Kisa, so I left some of her canvas blank. I remember I would go into the recording sessions keeping that in mind.
Ishida: Were there any particular challenges you faced while working on Jack Jeanne?
Terasaki: The singing. When I first listened to the songs with the temporary vocals I was like ‘I’m going to be singing this!?’ and my anxiety quickly turned into terror! I had to reconstruct the way I’d been singing up until then from scratch. It was very difficult and I was unsure about a lot of things, but now thanks to Jack Jeanne I love singing even more than I did before.
Ishida: Other than Kisa, are there any other characters that are your favourite or that you took a liking to?
Terasaki: Tachibana Tsuki… He’s Kisa’s older brother, but there’s still a lot of unsolved mysteries surrounding him. I can’t help but be curious about him. I’d love to read a novel or something about Tsuki-nii when he was a student at Univeil. I’d like to see Fumi-san and the other third years when they weren’t upperclassmen too.
Ishida: Quartz, Onyx, Rhodonite, Amber. If you were to enrol at Univeil, which class would you like to be assigned to?
Terasaki: The relationships between the seniors and juniors are wonderful in every class, however I think I’d have to pick Quartz. Since I don’t think you can join the other three unless you’re already particularly skilled at singing, dancing or acting. So I’d like to find my own way to express my individuality in Quartz!
Ishida: You have some experience with stage acting, so were there any scenes or moments in the game that you could relate to?
Terasaki: Jack Jeanne has a lot of different choices and branches in the story. You can choose different lines to say during the plays too, but no matter which one you choose the show will still reach its conclusion. If another actor changes something then you have to change with them, and if you change something, then they have to change with you. Even though every performance of a show is supposed to have the same programme and script and movements, you go into it with a fresh mind each day and there are slight differences between the shows.
There are things you sometimes only realise on opening day when you see the audience walking in, so I could relate to the sense of tension actually putting on a show brings. I’d love for the players to see how each character's dialogue changes with each option, so please play through the shows multiple times!
Ishida: Every show in the game is quite different thematically, which one (setting, musical composition, etc) did you like best? Also, were there any shows that you’d like to try starring in in real life?
Terasaki: All of the shows are very different and I love all of them, but the one that I felt the most accomplished and happily tired after was the autumn performance. During auditions, the selection of lines from it were full of passion and tension, so I remember being excited to record for the autumn performance.
As for which one I’d like to try in real life, it would be Sissia of the Central Nation. When I recorded my lines for the whole show in one session, I started arranging how the stage set would look like in my mind. I’d think ‘this line would definitely be delivered from the top of the set, and this line would be said from the audience to the stage’. I’d read the lines whilst imagining what the show would look like and the performance that I could picture the clearest was Sissia of the Central Nation. So I ended up really wishing I could see it in person.

no because soshiro yonaga really went double platinum with figaro and fugio one after the other. i totally agree with kasai’s speculation that he’d go to amber if quartz was dissolved.
BUT i also think he’d become a mini neji who’s delusional in how he sees kisa but So Much Worse because of his obsession that would probably grow watching her on stage with tanakamigi, the “Only Guy Ever Who Can Really Bring Out Her Talent,” and with the devil momonashi in his ear LMAO

Sou's route is my favourite so far. By far, I'd add.
And all the route's I've played have been great! And I really, really love all the characters in this game (uh the romanceable ones and most students in other classes but we don't talk about ANYONE in Amber-).
I dunno, I feel like Sou's route was such an emotional roller coaster. Sou and Kisa go through so much, and they feel each other's pain like it's their own.
So finally getting to Sou's performance, with that STELLAR introduction, I felt an intense combination of happiness, pride and excitement! My boy DID IT!!! That intro part alone, and seeing Sou get the whole theatre involved in the performance would have been enough for it to be my favourite version of the Univeil play, but then Sissia and Isaac just had to also be my favourite pairing....
And that's also not even getting into Sou's actual route, as in the prep for the final play. Never a dull moment there, seeing Sou go from sad to sweet to obsessive to regretful to strong was heartwrenching but SO fun. And his voice acting for EVERY second was peak. Much squealing, laughing and kicking my feet in the air with this route, its SO good.

just an informal list of reasons to love Tanakamigi Chui
this is not my full essay but it's a quick list of reasons off the top of my head from someone who asked me on reddit
canonically the most “honest and straightforward” character in the game (Neji’s words, and they do hold true) I can’t stand being lied to, even about small things, and I don’t want Kisa to be lied to either. Chui does never and will never lie to her. He’ll straight up tell Kisa things that he’s definitely supposed to be keeping secret. He’s so honest, it’s actively uncomfortable for other people. He’s not trying to be mean, he’s not trying to be ‘brutally honest’, he’s just awkwardly honest and it’s cute and good and I love him for it. Man who doesn’t lie? So hot.
this is a man who will admit when he’s wrong. UNPROMPTED. do you all realize how rare this actually is? Nobody is expecting him to do this. It doesn't benefit him to do it. He just does it because he thinks it's the right thing to do. I feel like everybody expects him to be such a huge egotistical douche (especially after his little speech about how he feels nothing from Quartz's performances--and then it turns out that wasn't him being a dick, he apparently just sincerely feels that way) and then he will repeatedly UNPROMPTED come up to the members of Quartz to be like, “hey so I was wrong about x thing and I really learned a lot from watching you guys” and honestly this is so rare and not a thing guys tend to do in real life that this alone was enough to capture my heart. Seriously, first time I saw his reaction after the fall performance, I was like, "oh no it's over for me" A man who admits when he’s wrong!! Oh my god, he and Kisa would have such a healthy relationship between that and the not-lying thing. No mind games from this guy. Fuckin love to see it.
comes out swinging when it comes to defending Kisa There aren’t many scenes in the game where we have the opportunity to see how he reacts when he feels like Kisa is being insulted because it just doesn’t happen in front of him that often, but WHEN IT DOES oh man, he employs a few well-chosen words of COMPLETE AND UTTER OBLITERATION. You ain’t gonna insult the transparent vessel like that in front of Tanakamigi Chui, hell no! Even when it’s only that he feels like Amber’s win against Quartz wasn’t justified (try getting second place in the fall performance sometime lol, it's EXTREMELY worth it imo), he completely eviscerates his underclassmen over it. That's how you know he really cares about making sure the record is kept straight, because apparently there are only two things that matter to Tanakamigi Chui: Art, and Truth.
drinks his respect Kisa juice (post-winter play spoilers) it’s a consistent behavior for him across routes that he pursues Kisa pretty doggedly and seems like he won’t take ‘no’ for an answer—until you realize that he’ll only take Kisa’s ‘no’ for an answer. Anyone else tells him to back off, he’ll be like, “mmm nah, you don’t know what you’re talking about” but the moment Kisa tells him no or that he sees evidence that she’s not interested, he immediately backs off. He also continues to show respect for her after this, as a performer and rival, his respect is not conditional on her potential as a stage partner. (He also knows her secret after a certain point, but instead of using it against her to strong-arm her into getting his way like you might expect an antagonist to do, he’s basically like, “wow you really risked it all for the stage, that’s SO FUCKING BADASS and exactly what I’m looking for in a stage partner, please team up with me”) It’s really telling that his way of asking her to be his partner is always to offer her his hand, which is a recurring theme with them.
Chui and Kisa are straight-up soulmate-coded (Kisa route spoilers) this might be unintentional, but for some reason the game REALLY goes out of its way to drive home the point that they’re the only true equals for each other, that they’re the only ones who can fully bring out each other’s talent, that they’re so talent-compatible that it’s a little spooky, that Chui is desperately lonely without Kisa, that they can sense each other’s presence, that they’re both willing to give everything for the stage, and that they’re both hiding who they really are. (Chui is, in fact, the only one at Univeil who could actually personally understand Kisa's dilemma of hiding her identity to prevent expulsion--he's in a similar position for political reasons.) How else are we supposed to interpret all of that except that they’re meant to be together? (So why CAN’T they be??)
Chui would do more for Kisa than Chuza will (Kisa route spoilers) This is getting very much into Kisa route spoiler territory but Chui directly states that he doesn’t give a damn about Kisa’s gender, he just wants to perform with her. We can extrapolate from his behavior in Fumi’s route that he’s willing to go pretty far to ensure that can happen. In the power struggle between Chui and Chuza, I think it’s safe to assume that Chui would actually be WAY more ready to embrace relaxing the boys-only rule than Chuza is, just because all Chui actually cares about is getting the best talent, not in traditions or playing power games. Honestly I haven't the fainest idea why the game thinks we should support Chuza over Chui, and that's not even my Chui bias talking--in my experience, that's a pretty common sentiment in the fandom. XD
lbr, he’s damn fine that VOICE. those HANDS. his huge pretty eyes and long eyelashes. he’s so TALL and BENDY and AWKWARD and a DORK and I love it. he’s so GREY and his haircut is so STUPID and I just want to allow him to snuggle a soft pink creature (aka Kisa)
ahem. anyway.

Overjoyed I’m not experiencing the Jack Jeanne brainrot alone! The story exceeded all my expectations and the way each route builds on the others is perfection! There is going to be a huge hole in my heart when I’m finished with it. I meant to ask when you posted awhile back but you mentioned a Jack Jeanne manga and I think there’s also a tie-in novel? Do you know if they are the same story as the visual novel or different stories?
They are all a bit different! There are currently two books as well as the manga and they were all done by Ishida and Towada who were the primary creators of JJ so they were able to give more depth to the characters rather than a simple retelling of the game.
The manga short (75 p.) is called "Puppet". I don't think there's an EN translation currently, but you can find the JP original for free here. This is a completely separate story about an Amber student who enrolled at the same time as the Quartz third-years and what happened in Amber after Chuui arrived.
The first book is called ジャックジャンヌ ユニヴェール歌劇学校と月の道しるべ (Jack Jeanne: Univeil Drama School and the Guidance of the Moon) and it's full novel length (450 p.). I've only recently started reading it (JP sample chapter) but so far it has given a lot more insight into Kisa as a person and there are things that I've found so far in it that I was told were not mentioned in the game. This book goes up until the point of the Newcomer Performance.
The second book is much shorter (260 p.), simply titled ジャックジャンヌ ―夏劇― (Jack Jeanne: Summer Drama) and it has a series of short stories from the perspective of each of the main LIs (+ Otori) and the various things they did during summer vacation (sample chapter).
Hope that helps fill the void a little!

x. continued from here with @ofovertime
Her voice had sounded so small, even to her own ears as she stood lingering awkwardly in the doorway. Barefoot, hands politely folded before her and fingers ringing together as she'd mustered to courage to speak up at all. Kisa wasn't sure if he would hear her at all, most of the other adults never did. Wide amber eyes that had been filled with hopefulness waned and flickered, unable to address Nanami directly as she ducked her gaze away and bowed her head, almost ashamed for having spoken up or out of turn in the first place. She didn't want him to leave, not while she was still awake at such a late hour the idea of him leaving while she slept unknowingly was half the reason sleep evaded her. Tiptoeing forward, Kisa reached up to tug on the sleeve of his suit jacket gingerly. "I thought you were different... from the other grown-ups. The ones who make promises and leave."

KISA (@ladicsa) said "i'm not going to repeat myself."
Tumblr media
"Oh, well we wouldn't want that now, would we luv?" His lips fall into his characteristic smirk over the rim of his glass, mischievous blue eyes cutting in the other's direction. Kisa is different. She's not a member of his family, nor is she one of Marcel's people, easily cowed by a measly threat. She's a challenge, and that has always intrigued him.
"I'm afraid that I am going to have to ask you to repeat yourself though," he shrugs only a tiny bit apologetic. "You see, when you barge into my home unannounced, I generally am not too focused on what you are saying." He moves away from the balcony and further into the room, setting down his glass so he could pour one for Kisa. He picks up the crystal filled with amber liquor and holds it out for her to take, as a peace offering. "Why don't we start over?"

funny that when kaido and tsukasa wanted to steal kisa, neji was like, "yeah, go ahead and try! we can even get approval from the principal so it's official! :P" because he knows they can't do it, that kisa will win that individual award and stay in quartz, and it's a great opportunity (in his eyes) for kisa to improve and build confidence by having her participate in activities with other classes
but the moment chui asked kisa to be his jeanne, neji stepped his foot down and was like, "how rude! chui, you can't just demand a student from another class!! the rest of univeil already went over this last summer, you're too late for that!!" likeeee, hypocritical much, neji?? which, chui also says to his face lol. how come you get to transfer to another class, neji-senpai, but kisa can't?
wasn't neji also the one who said that by treating kisa like an object (to borrow sou's wording), kisa herself gained high value?
but I guess it didn't register to neji that chui might take an interest in kisa. which. lol. come on neji, you should've seen that one coming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I find it interesting how he's suddenly like, "tachibana-kun! from now on, start running for the hills when someone wants to steal you from quartz!!" completely ignoring how he encouraged this specific behavior from other classes in the first place. but, well, amber is just that special, after all
what'a the harm in letting kisa intern in amber for a little while, just like how she joined class practice with onyx and rhodonite for a bit. do you not trust that kisa will stay in quartz after that. do you think chui can actually convince kisa to transfer out of the class tsuki was famously a part of
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
neji we all know that "just kidding" is codeword for "I'm actually serious but I'm playing it off so no one takes me seriously" boyyyyy you started all of this!!!

Ok so I spend a lot of time thinking about what kind of plays Kisa would be doing in her second year if she was in Amber, and wanted to draw a poster for Phantom of the Paradise with Kisa as Pheonix and Chui as the phantom. Obviously he would be GREAT at the role of tortured artist pining from afar. You can see I didn't get very far, I wanted to include Kamiya and Momonashi too.

Oh hell yeah we finally got Quartz’s big finale performance of the year! Sissia of the Central Nation!
Just from the short snippet Neji gave this play sounds right up my alley!!! Two countries at odds after a long war, the losing nation oppressed by the winner and treated as less than human, a small group of lovable rogues who despise the discrimination and want to fight back in whatever way they can such as with a love for performance….Ooooooh this one might just overtake Oh Rama Havenna and become my favorite play!
And FUCK YEAH!!!!!!! My baby girl Kisa is the Al Jeanne!!!!!! She gets to play Sissia!!!! Meaning she can stay at Univeil 😭😭😭😭😭 I’m so so so so SO happy for her, she worked so damn hard the whole year and she earned this damn role! Though no as happy as Suzu I guess, boy was sooooo excited to see her dream come true!
Man Suzu was breaking my heart when he was whispering to Kisa about wishing he could stand beside her….only to be told HE is gonna play Chance, the Jack Ace of the play. DOUBLE FUCK YEAH!!!! My sweet babies are gonna be the main leads again!!!! Suzu gets to be a Jack Ace again!!!!!! Suzu was so confused and even upset that he was chosen over any of the older students, even over Sou…But everyone told him flat out HE is the one who was decided to be the best fit. I’m soooo happy for him, he gets another opportunity to show what he can do!
And oooooooh, there’s a kiss scene between Sissia and Chance 👀👀👀 I knew that kiss scene practice stuff wouldn’t go to waste!
And wow it looks like all the classes are following the theme of having first years play lead roles. Onyx has Kasai, Rhodonite has Mare, and Amber has……ugh, Utsuri…..brat’s gonna be insufferable I can already tell….

might delete this later because im at two hours of sleep levels of inarticulate but now i'm thinking about The Seagull and Neji and the Constantine - Trigorin tension of it all.
But like I am also thinking about what would happen if Neji gave Chui that script from the beginning I think that script from the beginning could work as a bizarre modern dance/butoh amber performance actually, and in the summer novel and in rehearsals (though rudely, not in the performance) we get snippets of how Neji uses abstraction in dance (in Mary Jane, the "Lonely Darkness" and in Extermination in the Arata Forest the dancers play all of nature, including specifically, the wind). I wonder if that's the Amber in him, because Amber seems to be using dance in ways far beyond character dance numbers. Like it's even set on a lake! With the moon! I wanna see it.
Inarticulate and spoilery thoughts with Agendas for both Neji route and also The Seagull, I guess.
But like, compared to what we see Neji do in Amber, he's shifted pretty substantially with Quartz - he's the "Entertainer" (like Tsuki) to Chui (and Fumi)'s artist, but he's coming from (going by his own recreation of it) some serious Angura vibes, and his first two plays are very different than any of the ones we see him do for Quartz. But even the plays he writes for Quartz have varying levels experimentation to them, by vibe (shoves weekend lesson off the table and pretends its not there, messing with the patterns) even if nothing quite like his Amber days.
It's like he says to Chui - working with imperfect people means he can't just create whatever is in his head - things like what we see in puppet - and has to pull things down to a different register. It's... the same thing Neji tells Fumi, actually -- the game uses the idea of someone ripping their wings off to be able to stand on stage with others for both of them, actually.
Constantine, writing lofty "experimental" plays (what Neji is accused of and takes as a compliment in Puppet) vs Trigorin and his notebook and inability to stop writing or pulling inspiration from other people. Both of them kind of miserable, one more dramatically than the other. Both kind of assholes. Both, lets be honest, terrible to women in their own ways.
Interestingly, both of their interactions with Nina reflect far more the realization he has later in his route rather than his starting assumptions. I doubt he just misses this. But I think Neji is running from things he already knows, trying to hold up flimsy stories to himself about himself that he doesn't really believe. Neji, reading the Seagull: I see, I see if I simply do not interact with women, I can be both and neither. I've solved it. This is a joke.
At least the way I read the Seagull - Love (and the play cuts it across gendered lines in the ensemble) isn't the cause or solution, its just the justification. It certainly doesn't create or fix the issues the two writers in the play deal with, and I don't think Neji could even lie to himself that it does, even if its easier - and its certainly easier than looking at both of the characters and their actual faults and ways they reflect himself.
Mr. takes you to suicide beach on his third event and literally cannot stop thinking about the next story or let go of his notebook for a minute, so frantically that other people notice it. In the fic I will probably never finish -- Kisa is many things, but she is also a mirror, as both Neji and Chui call her -- one Neji is finally transfixed enough with to look into long enough to see himself. And look where that leads him.

furuba charas as genshin cosplayers?!
Kyo originally didn't want to be Childe, thought he was too much like Shigure. Then he delved into the lore (via Hatsuharu), cried over him, and cosplayed Ajax. Not Childe, Ajax. (Kyo goes against anyone who says the Childe is Ajax 'cause he's very firm in the fact that they're NOT.)
Yuki (got into Genshin because of Kakeru) & thought Albedo would suit him but he felt more aligned with Xingqui; He cosplayed Xingqui once at a con and now he has more male suitors than female and Ayame is basically shitting out costumes for him. (Ayame : seize the opportunity??)
Tohru didn't know what Genshin was until Hanajima calmly explained everything to her and she full on sobbed for Khaenri'ah. The convinced her to cosplay Amber but made it a bit more modest for her.
Kisa thought it would be fitting for her to cosplay Collei. (Hiro carries her change of clothes, shoes, and drinks for her.)
Hanajima believes Ei is an unintentionally evil woman who is just .. very strict ?? She cosplayed her, said it was "evil girl representation."
Arisa pulled off an Itto cosplay so well that she could PERSONALLY INVITED to the next con.
Ayame went to the con after theirs as a genderbent! Shenhe. He managed to convince Yuki to be Chongyun.
Shigure wasn't in cosplay but he got people asking him for pictures and Hatori showed up in glasses and a blazer (People thought he was cosplaying Kyoya from Ouran.)
