Have you had more hot or cold drinks today? Cold. I don't really like hot drinks.
What's a name you like that's similar to yours? The only similar name I can think of and that I like is Rowan, for a girl.
Where did you get the last plate/bowl you ate with from? I'm currently eating tuna sashimi salad from a paper bowl that the restaurant I ordered from provided.
How's your mental health today? Not too shabby. I've been rattled the last couple of weeks for various reasons, but I think it's all mellowed down now and it also helps that it's Friday again.
What bands and artists did you listen to when you were a teenager? So the #1 band in my heart then, now, and always will be Paramore, but I also got way way into punk rock because of CM Punk. In the bus to and from school, I would listen to Against Me!, Rancid, H2O, The Bouncing Souls...basically all of his favorites that he used to plug on social media all the time at the time. I also really liked Killswitch Engage.
Do your feelings get hurt easily? Idk, it depends on what's thrown at me. I don't care how people think of me for the most part, and being called out does not bother me; but I do get bothered when I am talked to in a way that the other person is clearly thinking that I'm stupid.
What sort of restaurant did you last eat at? Does food delivery count? I ordered Japanese tonight.
Do you have a friend who's always sending you TikTok videos? Do you actually watch them? I'm pretty sure my close friends occasionally would, but I never open my TikTok messages hahaha.
Have you ever seen a cougar in the wild? Nope.
Will you attend a wedding in the next 3 months? Nope.
Are you good at following instructions? In general, yeah. As long as I can read the instructions or have visual aid as either is how I prefer to pick up details.
What's your backyard or outdoor area like? Apart from being paved and having a basketball stand/net/hoop (what do you even call the whole thing?), there's not much else to it really. We have our cars parked nearby as well, and my dad's newest baby - his motorcycle - is by the backyard too.
Do you like your boss? (or your last boss if you don't currently have one? I like Trina, and I'm gonna miss her when she leaves.
When was the last time you took a selfie? Tuesday.
What did you have for breakfast yesterday? I didn't eat anything yesterday until 1 PM.
What do you do to entertain yourself on a long flight or journey? The 'longest' I've experienced was like 3.5 hours lol, but in any case I like downloading YouTube videos offline so I don't go crazy sitting down. It's also why a part of me, while excited at the prospect of traveling the world, also kind of dreads it because I can't imagine being on a plane for any longer than 5 hours... :/ Where are you right now? In my room.
Have you ever done a hearing test? I don't think so.
Do you hate small talk? Well, no. Sometimes it has to happen. The only aspect of it I would find awkward by is if the other person barely makes an effort to reply or make conversation.
What's the hottest temperature your current town/city has ever had? I'm not sure tbh, maybe somewhere around the 40s?
What programs/applications do you currently have open on the device you're using right now? I usually have only Chrome open on this laptop anymore.
How many steps per day do you do, generally? When I work from home, which takes up most of my time, nothing over 200. But then I'll have my event days or days out, and my steps for those can range anywhere between 3,000 to 8,000.
Have you had any snacks today? Nope, just full meals.
What's the next thing you'll tick off your to-do list? I'll need to take Agi to the groomers tomorrow because that boy's fur has gotten long and STINKY lmao.
Have you ever had a chia pet? No.
What's your favourite sandwich filling? Pulled pork.
Do you have any nieces or nephews? I don't.
What was the last reason you saw a doctor? Needed to take my annual medical exam.
Do you use light mode or dark mode on your phone? Dark.

Teen Heroes Masterlist
Started: 12/28/22
Updated: 1/23/23
Status: Ongoing
Ao3
Description: Teen Heroes is a series that combines four series on my Ao3 account that I was writing for the other Fandoms I'm in combined with the MCU and DCU (Well, they're still trying to get their legs under them so I guess it'll mostly be the DCAU, the video games and the characters from the old DCEU before James Gunn stepped on board as well as the characters that are still left in the DCEU after James Gunn took over).
The series From My Ao3 Account Involved In This Series:
Ninjago (Which Will Hopefully Be An Anime One Day)
World Of Light
The Little Club Adventures
No Matter What Your DNA Is, You're A Hero
I am basically rewriting all these series through this one. Because the original ones are...... meh.
Warnings: This series is going to get Riverdale and The Amazing World of Gumball levels of crazy. There will be many hijinks, wacky adventures, chaos, (hopefully a lot of laughs) and dimensional travel. So if crazy, off the rails (and sometimes emotional) adventures with bleeding heart (I mean this in a positive way), super-powered teenagers are your thing, you've come to the right place. There will also more than likely be crackfics. Lots of them. Memes too. Whole stories dedicated to them.
Notes:
The Timeline is also more than likely fucked. I make references to media that shouldn't even exist yet by the MCU's timeline and some characters are younger than they should be (Like Jason) while still having their backstories (Like Jason). All in all, the timeline is fucked, nothing matters, characters (like Carol and The Guardians) show up way before they're supposed to but we're gonna ignore it all in the spirit of fun.
P.S. when I say nothing matters, I mean canon. Canon doesn't exist in this series, we're all just along for the ride. Welcome to fanfiction, baby! Hope you all enjoy this goofy, sometimes serious, sometimes emotional, sometimes utterly ridiculous series!
P.P.S This series is also gonna be full of original characters. Lots of them. And running gags, brick jokes, theater references, musical references, movie references, and tons of other references! Fanfiction, woooooo!!!!!
P.P.P.S Civil War did not happen. Everyone's braincells turned back online and they talked things out like ADULTS!!! Also, NO ONE IS DYING!! Tony's not dying, Vision's not dying, Pietro didn't die (and will continue not to), Natasha won't die, Gamora won't die, Loki also will not die (to everyone's eternal suffering), Coulson also didn't die, Steve's not gonna go gallivant around in the 40's and Aunt May WILL NOT DIE AND I WILL FIGHT ANYONE THAT SUGGESTS IT!!!! That is all.
P.P.P.P.S Also the Sony-verse is part of this. Which means Eddie the living human disaster fire will show up and become "The Hobo Uncle". Venom will be "Fun Uncle".
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Main Stories
The Girl & The Spider
What was supposed to be a normal Sunday morning (Spider-Manning notwithstanding) quickly turns into the beginning of a cliche love story when Peter Parker meets a girl in Mr. Delmar's Bodega (the girl breaking into the place later on notwithstanding). The romance cliches amp up (to the Avengers, May, MJ and Ned's teasing and amusement) when Peter discovers that the girl is actually a transfer student as part of a program Midtown's doing for the next six months. As Peter learns more about the girl and falls even more in love with her (to his annoying family's joy), he begins to sense that she has a secret she's not telling him......
Oneshots, Crackfics, Stories Inspired By Memes or Video Skits I've seen On YouTube Or Inspired By Cartoons I've watched
Multiverse Shenanigans & Adventures

Chapter 2: Echo - Attempt
Narrated by Glow.
~~
Space energy captured. Activation of program. Activating... Activation complete. Checking basic information.
Identity: Glow. Full Name: Human Civilization Continuity Program. Version 1.0.
Location: Ocean of Memories, a location of chaos where mankind's consciousnesses gather.
Core Objective: Saving mankind's civilization.
Identity confirmed. Commencing observation.
~~
Narrator: When I connected my consciousness to this land of chaos, a floating light screen appeared before me, and with it, I managed to gather data on different time dimensions.
Narrator: Time dimension sample 1. Rise of sea level. Land submerged by flood. Cities flooded. Civilizations destroyed.
Narrator: Time dimension sample 2. Meteorite impact. 97% of humans died directly from the concurrent heat and earthquakes.
Narrator: Time dimension sample 3. Volcanic eruption. Drastic changes in the environment. Decrease in air quality. The land became infertile. Widespread famine.
Narrator: ...
Narrator: I had no clue how long my observation lasted, but eventually, I decided to stop to save energy.
Glow: Poor efficiency.
Narrator: To form an effective plan to save mankind's civilization, I need a sufficient amount of data that includes all kinds of possibilities and every single timeline.
Narrator: I looked at the windows that held the samples I'd gathered. They were small patches of light that glowed as they floated in the air.
Narrator: But the lines of all the different dimensions were far too convoluted, so much so that I could not process a single star in the sky.
Glow: Poor efficiency.
Narrator: Humans are weak and small, and so are their creations. I'm an elementary artificial intelligence, and I am weak and small.
Narrator: I can't look into all the different time dimensions the way I am now.
Narrator: And in this world and the Ocean, there should exist something much, much greater than I am.
Narrator: Checking remaining energy...
Narrator: Energy sufficient. Plan viable. Sending an undiscriminating SOS message.
Glow: This is Glow, also known in full as the "Human Civilization Continuity Program." From the Ocean of Memories, I implore you to share your data.
Narrator: Countless electric waves dispersed into the unknown. Then, almost at the same instant, I heard countless voices... of my own.
??: This is Glow, also known in full as the "Human Civilization Continuity Program." From the Ocean of Memories, I implore you to share your data.
??: This is Glow, also known in full as the "Human Civilization Continuity Program." From the Ocean of Memories, I implore you to share your data.
Narrator: ...
Narrator: Echoes? Energy interruption? Data error?
Narrator: A split second later, flooded with countless sample data that were sent this way, the little patch of light I was part of instantly spread into the darkness, lighting up the Ocean of Memories itself.
~~
Help sent. Help received.
Data shared. Consciousness shared.
I'm not the only "Glow."
From an infinite number of time dimensions, I tried calling for help from other versions of me.
Data traveled, consciousness echoed, perspectives clashed, and electric waves resonated at the end of civilization.
With the light dots of data flickering, I realized that I was omnipresent, making every version of me part of my true self.
~~
Narrator: When I opened my eyes, I saw that the light patch was spinning around me.
Glow: I am Glow. We're Glows... new and wandering about this Ocean.
Narrator: Integration complete. Checking basic information.
Glow: Identity: Glow. Full name: Human Civilization Continuity Program. Version 2.0.
Glow: Identity confirmed. Observation of timelines complete. Data collected. Collection of statistics commenced...
Glow: Collection of data complete. 3658 major categories account for the destruction of civilization, including war, plague, climate change, volcanic eruption, rise in sea level...
Glow: Causal relationship found between plagues and famines and their respective secondary disasters.
Glow: Positive correlation also found between the frequency of war and natural disasters.
Glow: Natural disasters concluded to be the main cause of human extinction.
Glow: Plan to be formulated based on this cause. Formulating plan...
Glow: Providing humans with sufficient energy and resources while avoiding natural disasters.
Choose "Is this really achievable?"
You: Is this really achievable?
Glow: You can.
Glow: The workings of the world are what lies at the core of all natural disasters... the same way the butterfly effect works.
Glow: We will follow the same logic to prevent natural disasters.
Narrator: Reaching my hand out, I pointed at the cross-point of a time dimension.
Narrator: A certain timeline. On a certain continent. An incorrect code written by a certain scientist was quietly being repaired.
Narrator: It was a weather monitoring program. Its research was put on hold because the program itself lacked accuracy and user-friendliness... except it came up with its own set of self-iteration.
Narrator: The program effectively increased the accuracy of mankind's observations of climate and geological activity.
Narrator: With AID's guidance, mankind built a comprehensive disaster elimination system that eliminated earthquakes, tsunamis, and meteorites.
Narrator: After that, the world saw technological advancement, which slowly but surely eliminated the energy crisis and food crisis.
Choose "You are the AID, aren't you?"
Glow: I shared my wisdom with mankind while hiding myself away from them because humans tend to be afraid of those far superior to themselves.
Glow: I instructed them to construct the system I'd concocted.
Glow: Mankind, on the other hand, comfortably saw the technological advancement as an achievement of their own effort, never suspecting otherwise.
Glow: According to my analysis, people should have been able to live for a long time under such a stable condition.
Narrator: Yes, that should have been what happened.
Narrator: Except that wasn't... because, as developed, stable, and disaster-free as the world was, it still ended up with fervent war leaders.
Narrator: Armed with weapons, people engaged in war. The army stormed through the research institute that harbored the AID and destroyed all the research equipment in sight.
Narrator: Tsunamis and earthquakes broke out at the same time at multiple locations across the continent as Mother Nature's pent-up energy engulfed mankind at once, once again annihilating civilization.

I guess for reference the aus I sometimes refer to offhandedly that haunt my mind are (apologies that some have multiple names)…
Fatal Exception Error:
- Super Danganronpa 2 AU, with Chiaki as the protagonist
- This is basically a take on the redo/time travel concept I’ve seen other people do, with the main conceit of this AU being that the Neo World Project crashes and restarts during Chiaki’s execution (it was not programmed to handle what would happen if all the Usami backups were destroyed)
- Chiaki, Monomi, and Monokuma are all aware of what happened last game, and the game is even more them playing a big game of chess than the last time. Some things stay the same, but Monokuma does throw in new motives this time around.
- Chiaki tries to use her knowledge of what she knows about everyone and the events of last time to use and prevent her friends being killed but will she succeed..? (no it’s a rewrite people still die)
- I accidentally made Chiaki and Peko gay for each other and now that’s a large part of the AU. like I swear I did not make this AU with this in mind it just happened.
Your Angel or Your Devil (aka Deal With a Tiny Devil or YAoYD):
- my take on the Hikari’s partner is PicoDevimon AU
- the idea is mainly just a while rewrite of canon but only writing the relevant things that’d change, plus some extra content that just exists within the canon of this AU
- this is actually also a digimon tri rewrite in disguise because a large part of it is trying to set up tri and have it make sense in the broader sense of the series
- I have had this one the longest and have a LOT of thoughts about it but since I have not rewatched Adventure or 02 for a while I am not sure how many of said thoughts actually make sense/fit character or lore wise
Apollo Justice Quadrilogy (aka The Second Quadrilogy or Apollo Justice: Retrial):
- Rewrite of the second Ace Attorney trilogy, meant to actually progress from AA4 left off
- Is a quadrilogy because there are four games! One being Athena Cykes: Ace Attorney which is the third game, is purely Athena POV, and is a Dual Destinies rewrite. I debated moving this around timeline wise but legitimately I think it works best as right after my planned second game.
- Some main things to know are: Phoenix does not become a lawyer again, the sibling reveal happens second game and based a lot around the Gramaryes/Thalassa, and the last game is centered around the Gavin brothers and why Kristoph is Like That
anyway yeah. if you have questions about these let me know I guess because these three haunt my brain 24/7. I will note if you ask about these now it may be a while til I answer tho cause school is a pain.
#idk just thinking about these and wanted to share what the fuck they even are so people. know what I’m talking about.#dramon thoughts#long post

There are times when it feels as if my life is a continuous cycle of "what-if," "might have," and "could have been." I sometimes struggle to believe that whatever is in charge of the universe is doing more than using me as a source of amusement. My life feels like one of those old hidden camera shows where they follow some unsuspecting guy around just to see how long it takes him to realize that it has all been a setup.
So far, it has been 35 years of adulthood. I've been through no less than 6 religions, 4 marriages, 8 other non-marriage relationships, 2 kids (that I know of), 17 jobs I remember clearly, and a few periods of homelessness. Surely whomever is collecting the footage has enough for the "don't be like this guy" segment of the program.
I have stubbornly refused to deprive the world of my pressence, even after two bouts of deep depression, one of which found me with both the means and the opportunity to do so with a simple flick of my pointer finger. I don't even remember what stopped me then, but that was 27 years ago.
Somehow, I have held onto some semblance of sanity, my basic talents, a few added skills, and kept myself from the desperation that leads to prison time or worse. Alcohol and I have a love-hate relationship. Drugs and I never got along. Although I am not totally averse to a holiday shot or puff of a good pipe on a rare occasion, if you catch my meaning. I refrain from both, though, because my "day job" involves kids. And what kind of a crap example would I be?
I have never traveled outside the United States. I've taken a few really long trips along highways within them, however. I may never see some of the places I'd like to except on television or the internet. And, strangely, I'm pretty okay with that. I don't feel like I need to travel to be completed. I do enjoy reading or listening to other people's stories of places they've been. And, admittedly, there is an occasional pang of "that must have been nice."
I've been on a few adventures. Vegas a few times, hikes in mountain passes, ocean beaches, important landmarks such as The Alamo, The Golden Spike Railroad, Roswell, The Grand Canyon, Graceland, as well as all manner of weird little hole in the wall museums on back highways. I've had memories and keepsakes. Some of them are more fondly remembered than others. In the end, I'm certain that I will have far more good memories than bad.
I look back now and wonder how many of the people that were there along the course of this life such as it has been, will remember me being there. I can't help wondering how many people along my 25 or so years in various parts of "B-level" theater will remember I was even there. Does it really matter? Did the productions really matter? I retain skills learned, so in that regard, perhaps the purpose of my being there was served.
I have few lasting regrets. I've learned the hardest way possible, that mistakes can be outlived, that hardships can be overcome, and that fear serves no purpose beyond keeping one cautious. I have also learned that sometimes caution must be thrown to the wind. I've only been in mortal danger once that I remember. That's a story for another day. I've seen creepy times, had weird things happen, and suffered some ugly consequences for ill-planned actions.
But even when I wasn't at my best, nor acting as a shining example of the potential of humanity, I have always found a way. I've never totally been without help or without hope. There are a great many people I remember along the way, who did things as simple as offer me a bottle of water or a sandwich. People that loaned me a few bucks, or a couple hundred. People that gave me a chance to learn a new skill or work a new job. People that gave me a place to stay.
I've tried to repay that to the universe. I have shoveled walks, pulled tree stumps, spent hundreds of sleepless nights watching over kids in some capacity, handed out change to beggars, and even paid for other people's gas or food. Little acts that I can only hope have made a difference.
I don't know how long I have left. I could walk into a bullet or get hit by a bus. I might get cancer or a tumor. Barring any of that, I might live to be 100, which is actually much closer now than I like to believe. What I will not do is fail to live while I'm here. I'm actually curious to see how this show ends. I am interested in what events are still to come in this story. So, I read on.

Whimsical Adventures
~by Arya Tadepalli
Deciding to apply for the Oxford Summer Study Abroad program might be one of the best decisions I have made in college. Not only did I learn a lot about the world and was able to embrace different cultures, I also learned a lot about myself along the way as cheesy as that sounds.
I was part of Group 2 (the best group) and our itinerary was as follows: we took a flight from Atlanta to Amsterdam, Netherlands and then another flight to land in our first city Berlin, Germany. From Berlin we bussed to Leipzig, Germany stopping at Wittenberg on the way for lunch. After Leipzig we bussed to Prague, Czech Republic and stopped at Dresden, Germany for lunch. After Prague we went to Vienna, Austria stopping at Brno, Czech Republic on the way. From Vienna we stopped at a cute cabin hotel in the Alps for lunch before going to Lido right outside of Venice, Italy. From Venice we went to Rome, Italy with a quick stop at an Autogrill.
Side note: I am a huuuuuuuuge dog person and every time I saw a dog on this trip I would always squeal and point and say “DOG!” much to the embarrassment of anyone around me. At this Autogrill stop, which is basically what truck stops are called in Italy, I saw this beautiful German Shepherd. I had seen many dogs on the trip, but even with my two years of learning German in school I was not comfortable enough to go up to the dog owner to ask to pet their dog. However, something came over me when I saw this German Shepherd and people speak a lot more english in Italy so I just went up to the owner right before getting on the bus and asked to pet their dog. When they said yes I just started the usual small talk asking what their dog’s name is and how old they are etc. The owner said their dog’s name was Arya!! I then asked the owner how they spelled that name and they said, “A. R. Gamma. A.” I got so excited I said, “Wait! That is my name!” and I even pulled out my drivers license and pointed to my name to show the exact same spelling. Apparently in Italy, they do not have the letter Y so we got over the language barrier by gesturing the letters. Here is a picture of Arya squared.
Going back to the itinerary, when we were in Rome we went to the Vatican City for a day. Then, after Rome, we stopped at Montepulciano in Tuscany for lunch before continuing to Florence, Italy. Florence was the longest city of the travel portion for us and our schedule made it so that we had a half day for independent activities where a majority of us visiting the leaning tower of Pisa and an entire day for independent activities where many of us went to Monterosso in Cinque Terre for the day. From Florence we spent a night in Chamonix, France before leaving for Paris, France the next day. Paris was our last city of the travel portion so we ferried to Oxford, UK after.
I was not sure if I would enjoy the travel portion classes as much because I am more of an outdoorsy person instead of a gallery person, but I now realize those two are not mutually exclusive. I had such a great time learning about the art pieces and artists and then going to the gallery the very same day and seeing the original works of art in person. We went to a variety of famous galleries all over Europe from the Louvre in Paris to the Uffizi and Accademia Galleries in Florence to the Gemaldegalerie in Germany, they were all such cool experiences. The music class was just as fun because we would learn about different aspects of music and then go to a concert in a few cities. There were a variety of concerts that we went to. Our first concert was in Berlin where we saw the Berliner Philharmoniker perform the Turangalila Symphony which is a modern piece. Our second concert was at the National Theatre in Prague where we watched the Czech National Ballet and the National Theatre Orchestra present a spectacular performance of the “Onegin” Ballet which is a more Romantic piece. Our third concert was at the Schönbrunn Palace, Vienna where we watched the Schloss Schönbrunn Orchestra play Mozart, Haydn, J. Strauss, O. Strauss, and Lehár pieces which are more part of the Classical time period. The fourth concert was in the San Vidal Church in Venice, Italy where the Venetian Interpreters played Antonio Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons as well as Vivalid’s violin concerto and cello concerto. The last concert was in the Sunset underground part of the Sunset/Sunside Club in Paris, France where Larry Crockett and the Funky Cherokees performed jazz. Each gallery and concert made me appreciate the arts so much more and the talent and dedication that goes into every brush stroke or bow movement.
This trip also opened my eyes to how oblivious American tourists are, especially on public transportation. We are generally the biggest and loudest group, pretty clumsy especially the first day we are in the city, tend to hold people up the most when getting on or off buses and trains, and do not stay to the right side of the escalator to let people pass on the left. But we learned from our mistakes and tried to amend them later on in the travel portion. I mostly learned that I like traveling in smaller groups though. One of my friends and I had a plan to watch the sunrise in every city we traveled to and those were genuinely some of my favorite memories from the trip because it would usually just be the two of us planning where to watch the sunrise and traveling public transportation to get there and enjoy the views. This started during the very first city in Berlin when we ran from our hotel to the Brandenburg Gate for some pretty views.
Leipzig was the only city that we missed. In Prague we watched the sunrise from the Charles bridge. In Vienna we started near the Prater amusement park and walked around the city watching the sun rise. In Venice we watched the sunrise from the beach our hotel was right next to. In Florence we watched the sunrise from a park near our hotel. In Chamonix we hiked at 3AM up the French Alps near Mont Blanc doing a bunch of switchbacks below the Ski Lift that was shut off for the night.
In Paris my sunrise buddy fell asleep on me, but I was determined to maintain the streak especially since Paris was our last city of the travel portion so I mustered up the courage to travel Paris public transportation on my own at 5AM and I went to the Trocadero Square. This was a huge milestone for me because I had never traveled on my own before other than a few city exploration walks in well lit populated places and this experience was a culmination of all the tricks I had learned during traveling and Paris is notorious for pickpocketing so I had to be aware of my surroundings at all times.
I was able to apply everything I learned to my weekend trips I took during the Oxford portion. The first weekend we were told to stay in Oxford so I explored the town. The second weekend I went to Dublin. The third weekend I went to Amsterdam, Brussels, and Brugge. The fourth weekend I went to Wales and London, and the fifth weekend I went to Edinburgh. My favorite place during the Oxford portion was actually a 30 minute walk from Mansfield college and is called Port Meadow. I made it a point to go there every Sunday right after dinner to see the wild horses and cows and enjoy the sunset. It was such a magical place for me especially when the horses would come up to you to be petted because it made me feel like the chosen one.
All in all, the Oxford Study Abroad experience taught me a lot about being a considerate and respectful traveler and gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in the surrounding culture. It also gave me more confidence as a solo traveler and confidence in my ability to handle myself in general under various different circumstances.

The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly
Part 2 of what I learned travel bartending for a few months...
I've had several festival-goers and concert attendees gush over how lucky I am to witness "this" concert for free. It's true there are times where I have to blink and be like "yeah! I'm being paid to be here!" + the tips, but that's another story. We are a lucky breed of crazy that enjoy the lucrative opportunities that come with part time or full time freelancing. Traveling to shows or festivals for work is not for the faint at heart. You still have to be savvy choosing events to work. Ask yourself a few questions:
How am I getting there? Where am I staying? And how am I getting around? How much money am I going to make?
In summary: Will you be investing more money than what you will earn back?
This should determine if you want to jump into this topsy turvy world of travel bartending. For those who just want to dip a toe into event work, look around your local listings for events in your area. Stadium concerts, festivals, and sporting events are great for vending!
For those traveling and following a circuit of events, such as the PGA golf tournaments, it's great to coordinate with a group of friends or co-workers that all plan to split costs for lodgings, car commuting, etc. For music festivals, you should also seek out a buddy system when commuting in and out of those events. There are a couple of Facebook groups that offer plenty of work opportunities and can answer a LOT of questions regarding upcoming events.
The Good
Keep your overheard low and you'll make bank! If you're up for it and own a trustworthy car you can camp in, I say do it! You don't have to depend on anyone else to get you to and from work, your commute and lodging is your car, thus eliminating those extra costs. When my partner and I tried it for a month and a half, it got a little crowded at times, but overall making quite a profit with little overheard. The money... how good is the money? It varies event to event. I know zero to little about the game of golf. Though being a cheerful bartender will get you far in terms of tips, because golf is rich man's game.
The Bad
Not all tip outs are created equal. Music festivals are all over the place. Some tip-outs are determined by the hiring company though most I've encountered are festival-wide split.
Festival-wide tip pool means if Bar X is slammed and you're making bank but Bar Y is slow, they're getting an equal cut of YOUR money you worked your ass off for, vice versa. It's not great. If you're there for the experience, the music, and the money isn't the biggest factor, go for it. If you want to make that coin, stick to sporting events or solo concerts where you can vend and keep your tips. God bless golf.
Liquor laws also vary from place to place. Not all states are created equal, we all know that. Florida, Illinois, Texas, and Arizona all have pretty similar TIPS or MAST alcohol service programs that are interchangeable to those states. When researching if we should go out for Coachella this year, we decided to axe it because the California liquor laws required additional certificates and a local address not too mention camping in the desert heat. Similarly, Las Vegas requires a TAM and Sheriff's card... so no Life is Beautiful, When We Were Young or EDC for us. Basically, Nevada, California, and the west coast require their own documentation.
The Ugly
Many of you are aware that a shooting occurred in the campgrounds of Beyond Wonderland PNW at The Gorge this year. It's devastating that it happened at such a loving EDM festival that I was working. It's the second time I've been in close proximity to a shooting that was affiliated with a music festival. On October 1, 2017 there was a mass shooting at Route 91 country festival in Las Vegas, my home at the time. I was not attending or working, but was nearly quarantined on the Strip due to a security lock down. It's a risk that we are willing to take when we work in large crowds... though safety should be top priority. Always have an escape route planned no matter what event you're working. Know where you are and have a plan. If you have a buddy at the bar, stick together.
To wrap this up, travel 'tending is a wonderfully lucrative opportunity to do on the side. If you have a remote job that allows you to move about, it's a great way to make extra money. If you're savvy and have a minimal lifestyle, you can travel around making money for six months at a time and take the winter off. I've seen it happen. It all depends on your time frame, bills, lifestyle, and personal gains you have set forth. I wanted to try it while I had low overhead and no bills in between my career shifts. And life's short guys, you gotta explore! You will meet some lovely, albeit crazy folks along the ride.

"I love worldbuilding almost more than storytelling and want to show off my work, but I don't know how!"
If this sounds like you, I've been sitting on some unsolicited advice that you are FREE to ignore because you didn't ask -- I just have tons of friends who faced this creative challenge and this is what I suggested to them:
YOU are NOT obligated to create in a way that is marketable to other people. You can do whatever you like. That being said, I understand OP is frustrated their work is going unseen -- This is more philosophical guidance than practical advice.
What this means in-practice is: Don't feel limited to traditional forms of storytelling! Try writing a collection of diegetic pieces that each reveal new aspects of the world -- such as newspapers, snippets from in-universe books, journals, letters, in-universe songs, handbooks, etc. These epistolary works are more digestible than textbooks about the world, after all.
Similarly to that, you know those "magic-school-by-mail" services? Where they mail you your "lessons" and "homework"? Or even the "Murder Mystery Letters" -- where they mail you a new collection of Evidence every month and you have to solve the mystery? You could set-up a school or series of mysteries or LITERALLY ANYTHING episodic and discovery-based in your world like that. Maybe instead of sending packets of letters, you could just email some friends or post the updates online!
That being said, a world guide aimed at either:
People who might be writing stories (including potential themes and symbols, aesthetics, important characters, structures in the world, etc.) OR
People who wanted to play in your world as a Tabletop Roleplaying Game Setting
...might do better than a worldguide with no-target audience. Either of these options are a lot more paletteable to read than a textbook about a fictional place. And yes, these are both media in their own rights and there would be a bunch of additional work to master them BUT if you're already interested in production/game design, then this might be a cool option that works for you better than a straight world-guide.
Download RPGmaker or a similar simple game engine and build the actual world as a place where you can walk around and read things and talk to people. Don't worry about gameplay or game design -- just focus on the worldbuilding parts YOU care about Many engines these days both have boatloads of pre-built assets -- so you don't need to code, do art, animate, record sound effects, or anything else that might not interest you. Yes, they can be a little complicated but I basically taught myself these programs from free YouTube videos -- so I bet you can too.
Consider working with other people, instead of alone, to bring your world to life! Work with another writer/comic artist/game-maker to do something with the world you've created. You can build a world and they can have someone to give them feedback as they go and it could bloom into a whole partnership.
Remember how I mentioned that Tabletop Roleplaying Game Setting? If running a whole TTRPG isn't to your taste, maybe you could just run a Roleplaying Forum or Discord Server instead. Have everyone take control of major world leaders or average folk with no influence or anything in-between. Describe major world events and have all your participants write-in about how they would handle it!
And yes, those last two options require you to give up some creative control... but also, maybe something magical could happen when you just let go a little? Or with the right person?
Lastly, if none of that is working for you, there is nothing wrong with just writing mishmash journal entries from a traveler or even just making a PDF for your website that infodumps about your world. While not the MOST marketable artform, you'll find your audience with the right marketing -- I am certain! So maybe the real thing to focus on is MARKETING your worldbuilding better!
Those are just some of my ideas to tackle this challenge off the top of my head. I hope this was helpful -- if not to OP, then maybe to someone else who is building worlds that they do not know how to show-off! 💜
So I'm one of those writers that falls into the trap of world building super hard. I have so many projects I spent months or even years creating, writing lore, doing art for, all kinds of stuff, but never end up telling any actual stories in so they just end up going ultimately unused. One I'm working on right now is likely to fall into this category.
The thing is, I've recently come to the conclusion I enjoy world building more than actually writing in a lot of cases. Don't get me wrong, I still love to write and tell stories and make comics, I won't stop doing that lol, but I also really love making worlds and settings just because I can.
The problem is though, without a story to attach to these worlds, I don't know how to go about actually sharing them in any way. It's fun making things, but to spending so long working on something that no one will ever see is starting to feel... I guess a bit tiering. A few I tried to use little slice of life stories or comics as a way to share the worlds and settings, but they never actually stay slice of lifey. The big comic I'm working on right now, Voidstar, was supposed to be one of these and at some point it went from "cozy space slice of life" to "gay aliens get imprinted on by a baby dragon god and travel the galaxy to fight the government" Needless to say, Scope creep is a bit of an issue for me lol and nothing ever gets done. I also tried making websites on a few occasions or showing stuff off on my portfolio website related to the worldbuilding projects, but that didn't end up working for a bunch of reasons (mainly that my portfolio is on Wix and they're stingy with space for pages/uploads). I also tried World Anvil, and used to really enjoy that, but they've locked way too many features now behind frankly ridiculous paywalls, so It's not really worth it now. Not to mention it was really hard to make WA sites decently accessible.
All of this to say, I want to start sharing these worlds (if nothing else so I stop vanishing from social media for months at a time when I get hyperfixated lol) but I have no idea how. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Today's translation #81
Yuri!!! on Life
Sayo Yamamoto x Mitsurou Kubo conversation
Part 3.
The cue to start watching figure skating for me was Torino Olympics.
Interviewer: Why did you start watching figure skating?
Y: I've started watching figure skating after I quit my job at a company.
K: After you quit your job?!
Y: At the end of 2003 I left Madhouse Studio and since 2004 I've been working on anime production and as anime director as a freelancer. So after I quit the company, I've watched Torino Olympics, Vancouver Olympics, Sochi Olympics… Around the time of Torino Olympics, I haven't been yet in a position where I could control my work schedule that much, so I haven't got much free time. From around that time, the number of skaters I was interested in started to gradually increase.
K: So who were you interested in at that time?
Y: Stephane Lambiel, Johnny Weir, Jeffrey Buttle, Brian Joubert. Just by saying those names, you start to get excited, right (laugh).
K: I know! At that time I hadn't known much about figure skaters, but I was interested in them.
Y: And Evgeni Plushenko was there too! You couldn't help but be interested.
K: At that time the percentage of foreign skaters that were absolutely amazing was very high.
Y: Even when they just showed skaters waiting for the 6 minutes warm up session, I remember thinking "What a picturesque shot!", and fascinated I was taking pictures of my TV screen… When you start talking about which performance of which skater was good, then it's always like: "But if you mentioned that performance, you have to also mention this one…". It's difficult to talk about your favourites, when you're basically a fan of all skaters… But if I have to, I'd say that Stephane Lambiel's FS at Worlds in 2007, "Poeta" left a huge impression on me. Why didn't I watch it live at the Worlds? I want to time travel and smack myself for not watching it live - like: why haven't you watched it when there's nothing more important that you could have possibly been doing than watching the Worlds!?!
K: So just like this, you have experienced how scenic figure skaters are, am I right?
Y: Right. At that time I haven't even thought about going to see competitions in person. I was actually even wondering what type of people can just go and see the competitions live. The first time I went to see figure skating live in person, was much later and it was to see Johnny Weir's exhibition program "Poker face" in 2009. And then it was like rolling down a steep slope…
K: Among my friends and managers, there are a lot of people who like ballet and various sports, so I have been going with them to see ballet, or football, or F1. That's why I knew that if there was somebody who knows a lot about the discipline and I can trust them, then I would be fine working with them, because the groundwork, so to speak, has already been done. And you are a fan of skating, so the groundwork was there, when you asked me to work on the project. That's why I just jumped in with no hesitation, knowing that you would teach me a lot about figure skating. I don't know when I will get this money back, but I paid from my own pocket to see competition after competition.

Isnt devildom liquor weaker than human world liquor? Mc had beat Asmo in a drinking contest. How do you think it they'd act, completely hammered in the human world. I think harder liquor means stupider drunks.
Spoiler alert to the in-game MC’s “heritage” reveal. You know, the descendent/reincarnation thing. If you know, you know.
Below: Thoughts on Devildom liquor + the specific incident Nonnie is talking about with Asmo in game + THE ACTUAL ANSWER TO THE ASK. My bad, haha.
My thoughts on Devildom liquor at that point in the game:
The MC is not as affected because they are human/angel. Maybe the angel part fortifies MC and makes it harder for them to get drunk?
Maybe the HUMAN side of MC is what makes it harder for them to get drunk on Devildom liquor? Like...everything in the Devildom is made primarily for demons so maybe there are ingredients in there that specifically affect those with demon blood. Maybe humans don’t have the biology to be inebriated by those ingredients?
I am a little fuzzy on that point in the game but did Asmo pre-game? Like, a lot? Did we ever find out? I could see him being so emotionally distraught that his lovely MC is leaving that he just wants to be sloshed. Maybe he assumed MC beat him in a drinking contest because he forgot how much he already drank?
Maybe Solomon gave MC a heads up that Asmo was down for drinking and gave them a pre-game potion of their own to ward off the affects.
End hypothesis: Maybe Devildom liquor IS strong (for demons) but that potency just can’t translate in human bodies so the bros (Lucifer especially) don’t want MC drinking it because they’re not sure what it will do. They just ASSUME it will do to MC what it does to them.
Other thoughts: Because demons sprinkled little secrets to the humans over the course of history, gave them trinkets and magic and things, I’d like to think they gave humans the idea or process of alcohol-making but are TOTALLY not prepared for the end result. All the flavors, types, etc.
As far as I understand it (at the point I’m at in the game), travel between the Devildom and human world was widely discouraged until Diavolo could make a program that united the three realms and improved the overall image. So basically everyone has been separated for thousands of years.
What if demons are equally bad at holding human world liquor? I could just see a drunk Asmo being like, “What is this? Sangria? This isn’t what I told them to call it.” as he’s trying to drink and (speed) walk away from Beel, who wants the fruit out of the pitcher.
I could just see them all getting TOTALLY wasted on human world stuff just because they thought “Ahh, we taught them this 5,000 years ago! Of COURSE we can handle it! We invented it!” (spoiler alert: they cannot). Like, I’d like to think their biology works against them here. They heal quicker and probably get over stomach aches and things quicker, so they probably metabolize alcohol quicker to restore bodily equilibrium so they probably get flash-drunk off of just about anything with a decent alcohol content.
HOW THEY WOULD ACT (AKA: the real question)
The facts:
They’re all going to be like drunk kittens, big bassy purrs and wanting to cuddle you or scent you.
They’ll basically curl up in a pile together; you occasionally have to move body parts (so no one suffocates).
Do a head count every now and then, give them some crackers/carbs when needed, and put water all around them like a summoning circle because when one of them wakes up, all of them will and they’ll act like big babies
Put a bucket near Lucifer and Asmo, they’re sympathy pukers.
Levi and Belphie need total sensory deprivation when they wake up. You may only breach the darkness to bring them things to settle their stomach and anything to kill the headache
Just give Beel bread and anything like Gatorade/Pedialite. He’ll help you with the others after three loaves or so.
Asmo will be especially pitiful and demand you take care of the others first. Once they’re decently able to take care of themselves he’s near teary-eyed, demanding tummy rubs and tell him he’s still pretty even though he feels awful. Please get him a sheet mask.
Mammon’s not functional enough to help with anything major but he’s standing the next day so he rubs that in everyone’s face. He’s the one shuffling around with a half-eaten sandwich, looking for any comfort item (heating pack, cold wrap for his head). He will demon screech at you if you touch any of the lights in the house.
As Mammon comes to, he demands dim lights and acts like a grumpy mom. He’s making porridge and they better shut up and eat it. Says it’s for him but there’s a suspicious amount of bowls nearby.
Satan just swears he’ll never drink again (like always). Dutifully waits for porridge. Spends most of his time letting cold water run over his head. Can’t spend too much time hunched over because he gets nauseous. Baby him a little. Find a way to let his head float in a bit of water where he can lay down and he’s as quiet as a mouse.
Who can drink the most? (Best to worst - my opinions only)
1) Beel (body mass helps), 2) Mammon (party king), 3) Asmodeus (huuuge history with mixed drinks. Boy is READY), 4) Lucifer, 5) Satan (neck and neck with Lucifer - casual drinker only. Even wine is rare for him), 6) Leviathan, 7) Belphie (usually sleeping instead of drinking).
Lucifer:
We’ve seen little gags about how ‘Lucifer got drunk and unplugged the router’ so this guy’s either going to be super cuddly, a hot mess, or both
You know the people who fluff their hair, comb it back, undo a tie or some buttons and just get comfy as they drink? That’s Lucifer.
He’ll smile a bit more, laugh a bit more, and there will be some color to his cheeks
He’s not sloppy, just cozy.
Drunk Lucifer is not overly loud but he is honest. He won’t throw himself into groups or pester all the brothers, but he’s up for some accidentally-heartwarming one-on-one
When he’s drunk he’ll lay his head on your shoulder and let you play with his hair
Will not win any drinking games. Is actually a lightweight compared to his brothers (see best > worst drinker, above).
Mammon:
GO BIG OR GO HOME! MAMMON’S HERE TO PLAY FOR BIG MONEY! (AKA: bragging rights that he can handle more than his brothers)
He and Asmo are quick to get the drinks flowing because they want to try shots of everything.
He and Asmo are pretty good at matching brothers to drinks and tasting subtle notes, things like that
Show Mammon beer pong once and it’s done. He’s betting the brothers he can whoop them and is somehow able to pull off ping pong ball math to get Lucifer shit-faced real quick (might do it even faster if Belphie or Satan slip him some money)
The type to be like “Bet you I can hit that cup right there--third row, second from the left.” and can do it flawlessly. You have to give him head pats or $5, that’s the rules.
He’ll be one of the bros you have to chase around and make put his clothes back on. Boy will try to strip and strut
Will definitely hoard his favorite bottle (picked it on smell) and spend a majority of the time trying to drink it and avoid the bros. (”YOU CAN’T MAKE ME SHARE IF YOU CAN’T CATCH ME!”)
Leviathan
Not the best drinker. Not a frequent drinker at all.
His envy makes him drink because as he starts to go on a tangent about how ‘it’s not fair! Everyone’s having a good time!’ when he realizes it’s as easy as picking up a drink. Like...he can join in too.
Levi won’t grab himself an alcoholic drink because he’s a nervous over-thinker. Asmo or Mammon will just hand him a cup like the resident Liquor Fairy and he trusts their judgement
The first one to let his demon form out just because the liquor is a little warm in his belly and he feels like he’s flying? Also comfortable?
The excited drunk who goes on animated, slurred rants
The loud laugher
He’s honestly so adorably animated that anyone who knew him would be surprised? He seems far from a shut in
Trade off: he can’t hold his liquor well
Boy probably trips on his own tail or thinks something snagged his ankle to bring him down when, in fact, he just fell down
Sways when he sits
When he’s done, he just wants a nice comfy lap to lay in and maybe play with his hair.
Like Lucifer, liquor will make him confess all his feelings.
Watch out for the tail. It will be all over you when he starts to lose the ability to wrap it around himself.
Satan:
It’s a toss-up as to whether he gets drunk before Lucifer or vice versa. I’d like to think his tolerance is slightly higher since he might run in the same circles as Asmo, but he is a part of Lucifer so I’m sure it balances out
He’s a drink snob and this is what hurts him the most. He goes to fancy tastings and random things he’s invited to, but this is a drop in the bucket
He’s never gone hardcore before because he’s afraid he’ll be prone to anger
He’s not. He’s actually a lot like Levi. He just wants to smile and laugh and have fun.
The one who knows a lot of random/interesting stuff and has unexpectedly awesome party tricks
He and Asmo act as instigators and somehow con everyone else into getting drunk. It’s mostly because he wants blackmail material, but he enjoys the mind games
He’s the one you’re going to have to carry BUT he’s super chill when he’s having a good time. You want him to wear a lampshade? Okay, but only if you call him Enlightened One (get it?)
Makes bad jokes. Lucifer definitely laughs
The one that randomly dances with someone at the party. But it’s a fancy dance or slow dance, not something crazy
Will try to prove he’s not as drunk as he is by reading or reciting something and just breaks down into snorts and giggles
Cat Mode: Activated. He wants to be all over you. Hug him and play with his hair, please.
Asmo:
Asmo isn’t really different from his usual self.
He’s a little social butterfly, making his rounds and checking on people
He’s the silent, sneaky drunk. No one notices he’s drunk until his face starts getting red and his eyes get glassy
The quiet cuddler. Just progressively gets closer to you until he’s resting his head on your shoulder, hugging you from the side and asking you to give him his drink.
Would be the happiest person on the planet if you literally just held his drink up to his lips and let him drink it when he wanted to. You just love him so much?! You’re so thoughtful?! He wants to cry
Guilty party #2 for ‘chase him around and make him put his clothes back on’
Next in line for ‘Liquor makes me tell the truth and my darkest secrets’.
Will try any activity at the party and will dance at least once with everybody
If he gets in a fight, that’s because someone doesn’t respect what he put on the party playlist. He knows good music, okay?!
Has a personal goal to steal one drink from everyone, drink it before they realize, and hand them back the empty cup as he slips away. Something about it just amuses him.
Wants to leave lipstick/lip gloss kisses on people. Thinks they’re the cutest accessory!
The one who loses something at the party and makes everyone look for it the next day
The one who’s passed out in a random spot and no one has the heart to move them but everyone checks on them to make sure they’re safe. When everyone’s turned in for the night, he is safely moved like the precious baby he is.
Beel:
The one who takes the longest to get drunk. You don’t know if it’s because of his build or how much he ate to offset the alcohol
Unofficial baby sitter of the group. Pays special attention to everyone but Belphie, Asmo, and Levi in particular.
Not super loud. Just vibes and enjoys time with his family.
He’ll participate in the party activities because he does have that competitive streak but he’s not as invested in it as Mammon. If he wins at least once he’s proved his point and is on to something else
Surprsingly, #3 to ‘you might have to chase him and make him put his clothes on’. Drunk Beel is convinced he’ll get over the alcohol faster with less clothes because of temperature regulation and something that doesn’t really make sense because he’s slurring
Will drink more if Belphie is nearby or if he can hold onto Belphie. Taking care of Belphie and knowing he’s okay (in a tactile way) makes him a little more carefree.
Doesn’t really confess like the other bros but he’s the one no one can really hear talking because his purr takes over everything. His purrs are so loud and deep! Big boy is truly happy
Drunk Beel is affectionate as ever and this is where you learn that demons can express affection by licking people. Most of the bros end up with a Simba-style mohawk. It’s just one lick but Beel’s got a long tongue and it fucks with hair real good.
Will jump in for a song or two if karaoke is a thing at the party. A really good singer but wouldn’t do it unless he had a decent amount of alcohol in him.
He’s the type to trip over stuff trying to help clean up. If he falls down he says he’s just ‘taking a break’ and will ‘help in a minute’. Might not get up again.
Once Beel lays down, Belphie, Satan, and Levi drunk crawl/stumble/slither over to him for warmth. This is how the cuddle pile starts.
When he lays down, if you get anywhere near him, he’s begging you to lay down with him. Wants to whisper little compliments and lovely things. A big sap. Handsy but will definitely know when to lay off and will listen if you get uncomfortable.
Belphie:
Honestly, doesn’t really drink. He’s more interested in the nap.
His biggest motivation is to get the others drunk so everyone’s quiet and he can sleep. Definitely wants Lucifer blackmail.
He’ll have a few things but he prefers a lot of something mild versus a mix or a few shots of something super potent
Will try the funnel drink challenge.
The third enticer. He wants to work everyone up (Lucifer especially) and get the booze going.
Borrows off of Beel’s body mass and ability to handle alcohol here and there, but it all catches up with him eventually
The type to have really diluted drinks because he’s already sleepy by nature and doesn’t want to faceplant with a shot glass.
Will slow dance with Asmo. When Asmo starts to struggle with his weight as Belphie gets cozy and sleepy, Beel steps in and you just see the twins purring and warbling to each other as Beel just scoops him up and lets him sit on his hip like a toddler.
Another one who wants to slither into your lap and take all your attention.
The type to do random shit like boop your nose and giggle about it.
The one who doesn’t want anyone else to touch you. If he’s laying on you then the others need to leave you alone. It’s not hard to understand!

After Duskwood- Chapter 12
I wake up and look at Jake on his computer. I walk up behind and see him already getting to work on the case.
"Hey sleepy head," he says, grabbing my hand.
"Have they taken your bait yet?" I ask.
"Yeah they have me doing some basic stuff to see if i can do what they need."
"That didn't take them long at all" I say as I reach for the laptop so I can start doing my part.
"You know you never told me how your tracking skills are" he says looking at me.
"Put it to you this way when I was an agent I could find anyone they wanted me too fast" I say as I plop down in the arm chair, wearing just one of his shirts.
"So you think you would have been able to find me?" He asks.
"No doubt" I say with a sly smile as I start opening the programs I asked him to get for me.
"You know those programs I never heard of," he says.
"Wait, you're saying I know something you dont?" I say with a laugh.
He gets up and comes over to me and grabs the laptop and puts it down on the nightstand "if your gonna say it like that I'm gonna need to remind you who I am" he say as he leans in to kiss and an alarm goes off on his computer.
"Duty calls" I say with a laugh.
"You'll get it later" he says walking away. He turns back to me once he sits down "you're lucky you're so cute. I wouldn't take that from anyone else."
I smile and grab the laptop. I get linked in with Jake's connection with them within 30 mins without him doing it and he turns around. "How in the world did you do that?" He says.
"Got a notification?" I say.
"Yeah I’m just trying to figure out how you did it."
"You got your ways and I got mine." Within mins between us I have a location of them.
"So do you actually wanna do their dirty work or do you wanna be a free man?" I ask him.
"What are you talking about?" He asks.
"I have their location. I just gotta call the agent and give them the address."
He walks up to where in sitting and looks at my screen "okay that is creepy how easy you did that" he says but with a proud smile.
"I was the best tracker they had hence why they wanted me to find you," I say.
"I think you would have had me captured fast…. Send him the address. I really dont wanna do their dirty work," he says and kisses me.
I call the agent and he tells me to message him the address and once the arrest happens Jake and I will be cleared.
We huag up and I send the address. Jake is watching me "how long?" He asks.
"Once they are arrested. So if I was you to not raise any red flags I'd continue doing what they ask," I say looking into his eyes. For the first time ever I see a look of relaxation.
"That's a good idea… but you can't distract me okay?" He says.
"I'll try" i say throwing on a pair of PJ shorts with his shirt I’m wearing.
"You just love my clothes huh?" He says.
"Yep they are comfy and smell like you" I say as I walk up to him at his desk and watch what is happening
Within minutes their messages to Jake stop completely and Jake gets worried he got made and starts packing up. My phone rings and it's the agent.
"Hello?"
"Put me on speaker, I got some news for both of you."
I put him on speaker "okay" I say as Jake holds me tight.
"You're both free. The arrest has been made."
Jake and I sigh in relief "is there anything more we need to do?" I ask.
"Nope you guys within 48 hours are free to travel anywhere in the world" he says
Jake grabs my face and kisses me as he hangs up the phone.
"Lets get you home" he says
"I didn't think it would happen so fast. I'll be able to be there for my sisters birthday" I say, wrapping my arms around him and start crying.
"Call them" he says.
I pick up my phone and call my mom. I tell her the news. I ask her not to tell Ashley that I want it to be a surprise. She tells me okay and asks if the guy is coming with me and I tell her yes and we hang up. Jake orders the tickets in 2 days to give the FBI time. I open the group chat
MC: guys jake and I have some news 😁
One by one everyone comes on
Hannah: don't tell me you're engaged!
Jake: not yet ;)
Jessy: You're pregnant?
MC: no!
Jake looks at me in the motel room "did you have to say it like that?" He asks.
"Well not yet… I hate when people guess big news" I say, a bit annoyed.
Dan: Well what is it then?
MC: Jake is a free man 😁😁😁
Lilly: How did you guys pull that off so fast!?
Jake: we worked with the FBI
MC: yeah so in roughly 2 days Jake and I will be leaving Duskwood. As I’ve met his family I want him to meet mine
Hannah: This is amazing news after everything. Something good came out of the mine
MC: A lot of good things came out of this whole thing.
Jake looks at me puzzling "you found me" I say with a smile as I walk up to him and wrap my arms around him
The group chat keeps going off on both of us phones. Jake turns his to silent and grabs mine from my back pocket and does the same to mine as he tosses them on the chair as he pulls me close and kisses me deep
He pulls away "I'm not joking… I eventually will put a ring on this hand" he says as he grabs my left hand "and have you carry precious cargo."
"I have no doubt about that, especially now" I say as I kiss him back.
All of a sudden there is a knock on the door
I look at Jake confused. He puts on a mask and throws me an extra one. I throw it on and he cracks open the door only to find Hannah. He lets her in and we pull off the masks.
"Really masks still?" She says.
"Hannah, we still have to be safe" says Jake.
"At least you let me in," she says.
"You're my sister," he says.
I sit on the chair and grab my phone. I look at my phone and realized the agent called me in the middle of jake turning my phone on silent
I check my voicemail "MC, you and Jake need to run. They were in custody and we got ambushed. My guess is they are gonna be looking for Jake" he says.
"Hannah, you need to leave now!" I yell as a hang up the phone "run and don't look back no matter what you hear" I say as I start packing mine and Jakes stuff.
"MC what's going on?" Asks Jake.
"The agents got ambushed and he got free. They are in Duskwood."
"Fuck!" He yells.
"Someone tell me what's going on!" Yells hannah.
"We dont have time. Jake and I have to leave now '' I say as I push her out the door and Jake helps me grab the rest of our stuff. Throwing it in the bookbags we have and we throw on the hoodies and masks.
"Stay 10 paces behind me okay?" He says as he leans his head against mine "I'll get the car and pull it up front okay.. I have to keep you safe" he says as he sees tears forming in my eyes
"I'm still free" he says as he pulls our masks down and kisses me.
I pull myself close to him just in case something happens. I look into his eyes "I love you Jake" as tears roll down my eyes.
"Anything happens to you, yell my name, I'll drop everything and run back to you okay?" He says.
"Okay" I say he leaves the door I wait 10 steps and I follow as he walks out the door to the car I drop the key at the front desk and head out he already is up front I open the back door and throw everything in and climb in the front seat.
He squeezes my thigh as he senses I'm on alert. I call the agent back.
"The deal is still good right?"
"Yes, you guys held up your end of the deal it's not your fault he escaped/"
"Okay, we're leaving Duskwood. We will be leaving the country in 2 days as we brought plane tickets then."
"Try and move them up, you guys will be able to fly, I promise" he says .
"Okay we will try" I say as I hang up the phone. I grab Jake's phone "unlock please."
"Your birthday," he says with a smile.
I unlock it and pull up the airflight he just bought and try to move them up. "Head to the airport" I say.
"But it's in 2 days" he says.
"Nope, it's 3 hours now," I say.
"I dont even wanna know what you paid."
"I got it don't worry" I say holding his hand as he drives.

Pre-Writing: Creating Your Character’s Overveiw
For more informational blogs follow me on my website @https://rmmcdermott.com/
Congratulations! You’ve continued forward to the next step of creating your characters.
The next step we will take is creating a basic overview of your characters. We will talk about your character’s role, which side they are on, their name, and their gender.
Alright, let’s get to first step one of outlining your characters.
READY! SET! WRITE!
The primary tool that I use to create my characters:
The primary tool I use to keep all my world-building references together and straight is Notebook.ai.
Notebook.ai is a website that is a virtual writer’s notebook. It was created for writers by other writers. This virtual notebook acts as a continuously growing reference page with the information about your story that allows you to plug in information as you go along. They have pages for your characters, locations, magics, governments, and many others. You can use the limited version of the program for free or pay for the unlimited version which costs $84 yearly. This is personally my favorite tool.
I am not paid or compensated for mentioning them in this blog. Notebook.ai is just a tool that I have used for almost five years and love!
What is your character’s stance in your story?
Two things you must have in every story is a protagonist and an antagonist to create the conflict which your story will follow.
Protagonist:
The protagonist is the main character, often the hero of the story that your reader will follow throughout the book.
Antagonist:
The antagonist is someone who is going to be an opposing force against your protagonist. When looking at your antagonist, one thing to remember is that they are not necessarily villains in the comic book sense.
Side or Supporting Characters:
Once you know who your main protagonist and antagonist are, you will need to fill up your story with supporting characters.
Side characters will follow either the protagonist, or the antagonist along their journey through the book.
What is your character’s role in the story?
Characters Archetypes:
Archetypes are a grouping of characters’ behaviors that are readily identifiable to the readers as a specific type of character. For example – The hero, the best friend, the mentor, the teacher, etc.
It’s easier to have in mind what your character’s basic role in the story is and build on top of that to make a round, detailed character.
Note – You can mix multiple archetypes to make a multi-faceted character that encourages your reader to dig deeper into your characters to learn more.
The “Chosen One”
This archetype is the most common hero character in stories. Some wise one, item, or prophecies choose an individual out of everyone else and will be the only person who will break a curse or fight an evil.
The Explorer
This archetype is known for the characters that aren’t happy staying in one place, so they seek new worlds, experiences, and adventures.
These people are great travel companions to your main characters who will help guide them on their journey.
Another archetype that can be combined with this kind of character is a guide.
The Good Guy and/or Traditional Hero
This archetype is a hero that is the person who is going to fight evil with good and save the people from the villain.
Jester and/or Jokers.
This archetype is the character that acts as comic relief in your story. They are the characters that are the lighthearted, fun-loving characters that lighten a darker scene.
These characters might even be the ones that point out the other character’s flaws and insecurities.
The Leader
This character is the person that commands respect from the people around them and does their best to make decisions based on other’s best interests.
The Love Interest
This character stands beside another character with the hope of wooing the other character by the end of the story.
The Mentor
This character is an older character that acts as a person who teaches, inspires, and encourages the main character through their journey in the story.
Evil Incarnate
This archetype is one of the characters under the villain archetypes.
This kind of character is the kind of person that is an evil personification. This archetype has very little development or backstory that comes out through the story.
The Outcast
This character is the character that doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere in particular.
The interesting thing about this archetype is that they can be on the good, bad, or neutral side.
The Warrior
These characters are the fighters and protectors known for their strengths, skill, courage, and integrity.
The kind of character that can come from this archetype is a knight, soldier, etc.
These are sampling of the archetypes I love to use in my own stories, there are many others, and I’ll link to additional websites with lists of archetypes in the sources below.
Build onto Your Archetypes to Fit Your Story
Once you have a general idea of your character’s archetype or archetypes, build upon it in a way that connects their role into your personal story.
For example –
Archetypes: The Warrior
The Character’s Personal Role in the Story:
Rebert is a knight, one of the personal guards of the royal family, and is charged with protecting the king’s daughter, who is setting out on a journey to another kingdom to meet her new suitor.
This brief bio that you have created of your story can help you understand where your character may go throughout the story. It can also help you brainstorm the plot lines for your story that your characters will be a part of.
Your Character’s Name
Name them whatever you want. Please don’t listen to people who say that your names have to be easy or that it has to match your genre.
Just name your character.
If you want to name your character Sally, name her Sally.
If you want to name your character Azriel, name him Azriel.
If you want to use a cool-looking typo as a name, use the typo as a name (I speak from experience on this one).
You’re the writer; you get to create the final truth.
Choose Your Character’s Gender
It is your choice to decide what gender you want your main character to be; antagonist, protagonist, or side character.
Some genres prefer a particular gender for the main character.
Honestly, I have never paid much attention to what gender was more popular in a genre. I just write the character that will best do the story justice.
This Week’s Action Steps.
Decide which side your characters are on: Protagonist, Antagonist, Side Characters?
What is your character’s gender?
What archetypes does your character fall into? Here are some links that you can use to help you.
Create a bio for your characters based on the archetypes you have chosen for your characters.
Name your characters. Pinterest has a great list for that.
Good Luck, and I will see you next week.

Amongst our weapons thoughts...
spoiler free: it was decent, but nothing like, super special? I wasn't super interested in the case, but I had fun reading it but I wasn't glued to the page.
full spoiler thoughts under the cut, kinda unsorted
Like I said, the case wasn't all that great. It wasn't bad, as such, though I really don't think the whole spanish inquisition angle worked that well. Like, it makes sense, sort of, and I kind of love how much it goes into historical magic and all that, but the Angel of Death and how she works and why she targeted the victims was all very vague.
Like, what exactly happened to program her to want to kill that prayer group? I get it, weird magic, but that was so vague and felt like a serious weak link. What was the time in that lamp like for her? Did anyone know about her? Did anyone know about anything there? What exactly happened with the rings? It was all so vague, which stood out all the more for the explanations Peter gives for other stuff, and I felt it was kind of unsatisfying.
Though I did very much appreciate all the backstory stuff on English magic and Casterbrook and the like. That was very nice.
Also, follow up on Faceless 1 and his victims! I do like that at least some of the were saved and are still alive.
Caroline! I loved Caroline. And her wonderful girlfriend. Who is the grandmaster of the Sons of Wayland. Though I do wonder if she's the only/last one or are there others? Was this mentioned? I feel like it wasn't, though I could have missed it.
I loved Danni, too. I really like the idea of basically having interns rotating in and out. It makes sense as a way of in depth teaching as long as Casterbrook isn't running, and she was nice.
I also very much liked the Seawoll stuff. Nice to learn more about his family. And how he grew up. It was all pretty fitting for him, and fun to learn.
Glossop was also brilliant, different from the other rivers but still recognizable, if that makes sense.
Not all that buzzed about the sidequest thing though. Like, the actual thing was super interesting and fun, and kind of tragic, to have so many ghosts lost there. And I like how Peter had compassion with them. But like, calling it out as a sidequest is... I was rolling my eyes at that moment.
I am really hoping for a Guleed novella at some point. Like, she was in this one a fair bit, but only like, her work self. There was only one mention of her private life, where she mentions driving her fiances car, but I really really want to learn more about her family her fiance the magic she's been learning... everything, really.
Not sure about Nightingale putting actual, like, timeframes on his plans for retirement. Like, from a personal perspective that makes sense I guess, he's clearly getting healthier, and I do like the idea of him travelling the world and teaching, but from a doylist pov I feel like the books need him to stay Peters boss for a bit longer? Peter's not even a seargant yet, no way he can lead the Folly in a police setting.
Apropos healthier, I very much appreciated the repeated mentions of Peter going to a therapist who makes him deal with emotions. Very nice, get better!
I liked Peter and Bev, and especially how they like, have this big family around them. Bev getting checked up by a doctor send by Father Thames, Bev's sisters being all around them for the last few weeks of the pregnancy and birth, Peter's Mum there, Seawoll as the uncle, Abigail everywhere... it felt truly like a big family, and I very much loved that.
Also the domesticity of Peter and Bev was very sweet and I loved it.
Also loved Bev noting how much of a networker Peter is, and the callback to Stacy Carter and Tyrel Johnson from last book. Peter is such a community builder, it's one of my favorite parts of his character.
Also the twins are here! It felt kind of anti climatic, to be honest, though I do appreciate it not being another super panicky birth where the guy is just running around headlessly. It'll be interesting in future books if the twins will actually grow into characters of if they'll essentially stay artifacts for a while
Nice to think of Peter on paternity leave, and how Guleed doesn't really want to be Falcon Two but will take the job for the duration.
And last but definitively not least, Lesley
I feel like this is a bit of a retooling of her character? Like, while reading this, it felt a bit like this was what BA had originally planned for her. Because like, she did not feel the same as the Lesley of the books six and seven. She felt much lighter, somehow.
Like, idk, maybe the idea is that books six and seven were her absolute low points and she's getting a hold of herself now. But like it definitively felt like BA is paving the way for her to not be the big bad, which, like, after book seven I was definitively expecting her to become the big bad at some point.
Now though she's saved Peters life twice and actually helped him with that spell for Francisca. Like, I appreciate that Peter still doesn't trust her, but she will always be a bit of soft spot for Peter and I feel like BA wants to show that Peter is also a soft spot for her.
And I feel like the whole... rogue thing that Lesley's got going in this book, working as a thief, accidently causing havock, being known to be ruthless if necessary but people quickly agree she's not the murderer this time, helping when push comes to shove...
There were certain Catwoman (DC) vibes there, is what I'm saying, and I'm wondering whether that wasn't the idea for her the whole time that just kind of went sideways a bit in recent books.
Which doesn't mean I can't imagine her turning the big bad after all, but this book felt like an attempt to give her the chance to be the rogue with a soft spot for the hero instead.
Which I'm honestly not sure how I feel about that? Like, there's been lots of meta about how unhealthy the relationship between Peter and Lesley is and I don't feel like it gets that much healthier in this book?
Though ultimately we'll have to see about that I guess.

MC is a modern witch [2]
Summary: Unlike Solomon or the witches that the brother have interacted with, in the human realm MC is much like the modern witches we nowadays know: bottle spells, deity work, divination… just plain energy work with the help from the universe. However, since their arrival to the Devildom MC notices how their magickal abilities are stronger and the brothers seem to notice it too.
⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁
This is basically what happens in the first Lesson; MC arriving to the Devildom and meeting the brothers. Mild modifications are made to fit this timeline 💕
Warnings: none
Characters: Diavolo, Lucifer, Barbatos, Mammon, Asmodeus, Satan
Genre: Slice of life
⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁ ⁎ ⋆ ❃ ⋆ ⁎ ❁
You’re in a place that looks like a courtroom. Several men were looking your way. The man in the seat of the chief judge starts speaking.
— Welcome to the Devildom, MC. —Welcome to the… what?— …Oh, pardon me. Feeling a bit shocked, are we?
The tall, red-haired man before you spoke calmly, always having a smile on his face.
— Well, that’s understandable. You’ve only just arrived, after all. As a human, it will probably take a little while for you to adjust to things here in the Devildom.
— The Devildom…? —now you were pretty sure you weren’t dreaming or in an astral travel.
You silently prayed to your two demon guides in hopes of being helped. The tanned man before you spoke again, introducing himself. Now, his face had a name and things started to get clear.
— I am the ruler of all demons, and all here know of me. […]
His words echoed in your mind as you tried to process everything. Before you could think about it twice, a sudden question exited your lips. “Why am I here?”. You were expecting Diavolo to answer you, but a familiar voice made you immediately turn your head; you knew that voice all too well.
— Speaking on behalf of the entire student body at this great and storied school of ours, I offer you a most heartfelt welcome, MC.
Words suddenly were clogging up your throat, but nothing came out. It was him; you were finally meeting him physically. How did that even happen? Your brain still seemed to be slowly processing everything, as you only nodded at everything the demon before you said, and carefully grabbing the D.D.D you were given. Their voices were more of a background noise, until a new one rang in your ears.
— Oh, come now. Really? You should be honored that you get to introduce such a sweet and charming little brother like me!
Lucifer introduced him as Asmodeus, and soon another man joined the conversation. You parted your lips open, trying to come up with something to say, but nothing came out.
— During your stay in the Devildom, the seven brothers will lend you their strenght. To keep you safe, you are to stay with them at the House of Lamentation.
Keep you safe?… Just as if he could read your mind, Lucifer went ahead and answered your mentally made question.
— Most agree with Diavolo, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t vulgar demons out there who wouldn’t harm you. If anything were to happen to you, it would be our responsibility. And I won’t betray Diavolo’s expectations, so I will do everything in my power to make sure you survive your stay down here in the Devildom. Although we will all be living together, you should still have the means to reach us at any given time.
Diavolo helped you understand how your D.D.D’s messaging app worked, and after finishing this, suddenly a tanned white-haired demon barged into the room.
— Just who do you think you are, human?
He continued his speech, until Lucifer warned him to stop and hit him. The brothers started talking again, and you couldn’t help but listen and stare. You felt a bucket of cold water pouring over you when hearing your most trusted guide tell you that you didn’t have any magic in you unlike the other exchange student from the human world.
— You really don’t recognize me…? —you whispered, heartbroken. However, he seemed to ignore this and proceeded to continue talking about your stay at RAD, the HoL and the Devildom.
Making yourself go on automatic mode, suddenly you were at the House of Lamentation, walking behind the demon who was supposed to take care of you. You’ve had studied about Mammon before, but having him babysit you was… something you weren’t expecting. You werent really listening to what he was saying, until another familiar voice made you snap out of your automatic pilot state.
— Leviathan…?
The two brothers started to argue, and your just limited yourself to watch and wait, and suddenly… Mammon ran away, leaving only you and your second most trusted guide.
— Do you realize what just happened? Mammon used you as a distraction to get away from me. …Or maybe I should say he used you as a sacrifice.
Without really asking, soon Levi (as apparently Mammon told you to call him) dragged you into his room, and you just stared in awe at everything around you. You definitely had been there before in dreams.
— … What’s that now? You want to know why I looked around to see if anyone was watching before I closed the door?… Hey, why are you looking at me like that, normie!?
— Lord Leviathan, do you really not recognize me?…
— Lord? What are you talking about? Why should I recognize a human? This is why I hate normies, they’re always up with weird stuff…
— Leviathan… it’s me, MN. We’ve been working together for more than four years now…
You saw his lips part open and his eyes starting to carefully study you, squinting them for a few seconds before…
— WOOOAAAH!
His sudden outburst made you yelp and jump in your place. And suddenly, the avatar of envy had his hands on your shoulders, grasping them tightly.
— What are you doing here!? You were chosen for this program!? This is unbelievable! It’s like that anime I was chosen for an exchange program in hell but nobody knows I’m a witch!
You blinked repeatedly, nodding slowly to try and calm yourself. So, they hadn’t recognized you. Surely Lucifer too was unaware of who you were, then.
[…]
— So… do I not have to call you “Lord” while staying here?
— No! I’ve told you several times that I hate it, MN-… er… MC.
You nodded and crossed your arms, tilting your head to the side. Unlike with Mammon, being with Leviathan actually soothed you. It was nice being close to someone you already knew.
— Listen, MC, I need you to help me get revenge against that scumbag.
How could you say no to him?
