Listen, I can live with a 90 Minute feature Film somehow, but only if it feels like a 200k Exes-To-Lovers, Angst with a Happy Ending, Hurt/Comfort, No Plot Fanfiction written by a 13 Year Old with more talent than they should legally be allowed to have.
You know, the kinda thing you start at 2 AM fully aware you have work or class in the morning, but you don‘t care because you need to let it consume your soul right now.

I wish we had gotten to see Odo shapeshift into objects and animals more throughout DS9. It could have been so much fun. Let the man be liquid.
Like, imagine a holosuite episode where Odo is stuck in one of Bashir's spy programs (he did not want to be there in the first place, and is very grumpy about being trapped), and the people he's with keep trying to play the game normally, while he keeps shapeshifting them out of things.
Locked door? Oh lookie, his hand's the key. Sidequest skipped. Character needs a disguise? Odo shapeshifts into a wig. Disguise acquired. An enemy puts him in handcuffs? Oops! No more hands! Bonds escaped. You need something on the other side of that ravine? Good thing Odo's a bird now! Detour averted.
and so on and so forth, while his companions are like "I know where the key is! Oh, never mind... We can steal a disguise from- ah, I guess not? Handcuffs? Are you just going to -- yup, I thought you might. ........ You know, Odo, you might have more fun if you actually played the game."
(later, Julian commissions a game from Felix that prevents those kinds of workarounds. little invisible walls are programmed in that prevent any key but the correct one from working, you can't leave the room until your cuffs are actually unlocked, not just off, etc.)

Family Photo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vs The Photo Casey brings back from the future
Tumblr media
Im gonna throw hands with Splinter. Why is he so hard to draw ;-;
*sobs*
Anyways,
Little bit of context;
Donnie destroyed the photo (woulda destroyed the whole thing, but Mikey stopped him) after Leo abandoned everyone when he realized he caused the apocolypse. Casey never met Leo in the bad future.
This is for my seperated Leo Au that I'll post more about after the crossover :D
It does have a happy ending, theres just a shitton of angst first, of course
I spent so many hours on this so I wanted to share

i REALLY enjoyed dungeon meshi, it has lovely characters and story and worldbuilding - but some of the posts and tweets i saw about it going in, lead me to believe that it had more horror/tragedy elements than it does. While it does have its more serious themes and dark moments, it fits solidly into the fantasy-adventure genre.
just thought I'd put that out there, in case some of yall following me for tma have gotten curious about it

I knew Stain was gonna die because he wasn’t a LoV villain but I'm still bummed.
Like he wanted to die, so he got what he wanted, but I sorta hoped it would be a bit more heroic, I guess. I mean, he honestly didn't do anything helpful except cheer on All Might and get killed. Just like with his past contribution, he could have been removed, and nothing changes.
I will forever be disappointed we never got tenya meeting him again or even thinking about him given this was supposed to be the villain redemption arc.
I also find it funny that so far, he's the only villain that has died trying to actually stop AfO/trying to do good. Like yes, Toga might have died saving Ochako, but it was from a wound she gave her. Meanwhile, Touya might have had his last breath, wishing his family was dead.
I'm just bummed it was so pointless and quickly moved on from. It wasn't even the end of the chapter. AfO turns him into juice, and that's the end of it--on to All Might, thinking of his other dead friends.
Which, yes All Might is far more important then Stain, but it does make it feel as if Hori just tossed him in so AfO got a kill and he tied up a lose end as fast as possible.
Given the past villain death scare chapters, I know hori can do touching ends. Like it would not have killed him to have a one panel flash back of Stain as a kid holding an All Might doll when he thinks about how he didn’t even have a high school education. It would have humanized him before becoming a blood splatter and renforced that villains used to be kids once.
Instead, we get panels of him sniffing blood on rocks. 😒

@heartofstanding tagged me in this meme months ago and unfortunately it took me this long to get to it because I had a mild crisis over how long it's been since I've read a novel, let alone one that I loved 😅 so this is nine of my favourite novels (not books, because if I included manga/short stories/comics/etc this would be giant)
Tumblr media
0The Picture of Dorian Gray -- Oscar Wilde// Pyrrhus-- Mark Merlis//The Scarecrow--Ronald Hugh Morrieson//Unnatural History--Kate Osman//Tunnels of Blood--Darren Shan//The Coffin Dancer--Jeffery Deaver//Hero--Perry Moore//Frankenstein--Mary Shelley//One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest-- Ken Kasey
#TPODG I feel like is obvious. But a genuinely hilarious book that is also poignant and tragic and so /so/ compelling#The more work you put into it the more you get out of it and I get so sad every time I see people#not wanting to look deeper than what's beyond the surface#Pyrrhus gets the extremely high honour of Greek Myth Retelling That is Actually Good#it's less about the Trojan War and more about the journey there set in the 1980s gay scene#the cursed spot that gets Philoctetes abandoned is an effective allegory right until the moment it isn't an allegory at all#and you should see the gut punch coming but somehow you don't#The Scarecrow is my Token Kiwi Representation and it's also the one that got me into the genre I now write almost exclusively#reading it feels like watching a cheesy low budget slasher that accidentally says some really interesting things about sexism and misogyny#(I say accidentally because it is the 20s and my tutor very loudly hated this book for being sexist)#(and I both totally agree and disagree because Prue is the prototypical final girl and needs an adaptation that does her justice)#Also the story of this novel's publication is freaking hilarious and why I will only write under a pseudonym because I would be next#Unnatural History is an exact blueprint of what I love about sci-fi done well in the way we've only very recently started to see on screen#and I hate that the show of Doctor Who rarely if ever reaches this level#Tunnels of Blood is my favourite of the Darren Shan Saga but really is just a stand in for the entire series#yes it's a kids series but it's a kid series that got me into horror and surrealism#and delivers the most effective and heartbreaking plot twist that not even Hannibal pulled off as well#The Coffin Dancer is just some damn good crime fiction and I wish Jeffery Deaver wasn't so slept on#(yes I know The Bone Collector got an adaptation but The Bone Collector isn't even in the top ten of the Lincoln Rhyme series)#unfortunately Deaver's strongest point is his use of point of view#but he still manages to get the twist to be shocking (and Coffin Dancer is the best example of it) in a way that other media fails at#Hero is about a gay disabled teen with superpowers and somehow tumblr does not know about it#It is such a fun riff on superheroes while also being genuinely sweet and touching and sad#It was meant to get a tv show but the writer passed so it got stuck in production hell :(#Frankenstein is Frankenstein. It's just good on like every level. Victor is my problematic fave. I will take no criticism.#I am however on my knees hoping the Guillermo Del Toro adaptation finally gets it right#one flew over the cuckoo's nest means so much to me but no one ever talks about it beyond the Ratched and Mcmurphy stuff#who are the least interesting characters to me. And I find the debate about the sexism ignores that the novel is about the structural abuse#of the mentally ill

Those relationships where the characters are amicable exes who broke it off bc one or both had their respective traumas/emotional burdens they didn't want the other to feel responsible for, so they ended up repressing it all to the point where the distance that began to grow between them as a result was too insurmountable that they decided it was best to end things so, in their minds, the other could be free to pursue happiness without being 'burdened' by them. But both are even now still so very much in love with each other or at the very least hold a tender fondness and particularly Special protectiveness for each other that everyone can clearly see, no matter how much the two deny or brush it off by saying it would have never worked out in the end ( oh, but it COULD, it WOULD have if only they'd decided to TALK to each other, to be VULNERABLE with each other instead of just calling it quits ), despite every What If and If Only that crosses their minds every time their eyes meet.
Every time they see their longing mirrored in the other's eyes.

can't believe i watched the divorce era of sydney and carmy in s3, i am now fully aboard the sydcarmy romance train some of y'all are silly for thinking deep love and sweet romance dilutes a strong friendship connection, relationships can be complex (can be both can be everything) without a specific box to go into but them two are passionate about each other idk what else to say

I’m rewatching bits and pieces of Queen Seondeok and I don’t really have anything to say, but what a great reminder that Kim Yushin is my forever man and Kim Deokman is the queen of my heart. I’ve been wondering if I should do a full-scale rewatch (but how can I when there are so many old sageuks on my to-watch list?) just to fully revel in their glory, in the glory of my girl who gave up everything to take and hold her throne and the man who served her unwaveringly. Deokman is THE character for me, a woman who crashes the power structure of a country to take control of it, who leads with strength and compassion and love but completely empties herself out in the process. And Yushin, my man who does the most romantic thing any man could do: he gives up on loving Deokman to serve her, even though he had been ready to run away with her and build a life together. But when he understood that her only goal was the throne, he too threw away love in order to help her achieve it. Like... what more could I ever want?
I suspect that on a rewatch I would have new appreciation for Mishil (who I kind of couldn’t stand, mainly because she was Deokman’s antagonist, but also because when I first watched QSD eight years ago I was less familiar with GJH’s work and didn’t appreciate everything she was doing in her performance) and her very weird blended family situation. But I’m not sure I would like Bidam any better. Yes, my hottest take about this show isn’t that I prefer Deokman to Mishil (by, like, infinity), it’s that I really don’t like Bidam! Like, KNG rules, and Bidam is really fun at first, but the angstier he gets the more boring he becomes to me, and by the time you get to him courting Deokman in the most passionless way possible (I love KNG, I ADORE LYW, but they have like negative chemistry), when for him wanting Deokman is the same thing as wanting to take her throne and her country from her.... No thank you! It’s not romantic, it’s not compelling! And do I really want to live through it again? Like, I’ve watched a few of those scenes, and as much as I love Deokman telling Bidam that he’ll never get her the way that he wants, it’s still kind of annoying to have her endgame love interest be a guy who views her as a rival.
Maybe I’ll do a grand rewatch one day. I just wish there were more sageuks about queens regnant! I get that history kind of gets in the way there, but still! Maybe the next time we get a fantasy drama à la Alchemy of Souls, the fantasy country can be governed by a queen regnant? As a treat?

Looked up the Fallout tv show cast since that’s apparently a thing that’s been released now, and I know people are talking about how Mr House is going to be in the show. Which is. Very surprising and intriguing. But very notably there is also a character called Chet (Chet Goodsprings???) AND fiend raiders are also there in the list, so like.. is the Fallout show going to be set in the Mojave..?????? 👀
If it is, for the love of god please let them cast Matthew Perry as Benny, and pleeeeease let there be even just one frame of Yes Man.. just a single crumb………. I know it will never happen but like. please?

It does honestly impress me how EXACTLY and PRECISELY Emily Skrutskie constructs the most INCREDIBLE and Appealing premises only to do LITERALLY nothing with them. These books are SO empty!!
like okay. First book of hers I read, a fun little synopsis:
woman who works as a sea monster trainer to train massive genetically engineered Beasts to protect ships from pirate attacks falls in love with a pirate! INSANE right. Should be accompanied by an exploration of THE CREATION OF GENETICALLY ENGINEERED WEAPONS and probably also the ECONOMY LEADING TO PIRACY and not to mention the JUSTICE SYSTEM and what it means to have ALL THAT GODDAMN POWER but no. There’s nothing.
weird! Funky little book I’m sure I can just excise from my mind and never think about again—
BUT I CANT. BECAUSE HER PLOT POINTS ARE TOO DAMN INTERESTING. and oh big surprise but all the rest of her books have the EXACT same issues!!
hullmetal girls: two girls fall in love (I think?) in a military academy after being turned into weapons in a completely space-faring society. I believe one of them was a rich officer-track girl and the other was poor and in it for the family pension. But oh that’s so interesting! Will we be exploring THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL SYSTEM? Themes of BODILY AUTONOMY? Themes of perhaps even GENDER relating to bodily autonomy or MEDICAL AUTONOMY or PHYSICAL DEVALUATION? How about a look into WHY THIS SOCIETY IS SO DAMN BIFURCATED? or perhaps WHY THERES A NEED FOR MILITARY AT ALL? We sure fucking won’t!
All of this is Backdrop you see! Because it sounds Cool. A little bit of spice, perhaps, for what is maybe the MOST milquetoast romance I have ever read wherein neither of the characters was even differentiable from any other. Nobody had an arc. Nobody had a theme or god forbid a thematic resolution. Things happened because they were cool and sounded neat.
I’ve read books with bad writing before but usually those books were at least passionate and TRYING. I’ve never read before or since a book that was so empty and devoid of any deeper meaning. Shallow in the MOST literal sense. And to be frank I WAS digging! These books are a backyard sandbox marked out like an archeological site.
