You know, because it's hard to give a massive amount of character in one post, I'm gonna list stuff about alternate rusted knights here
Repentant Thief: Emerald Sustrai, desperate for company used her semblance to hallucinate her friends/allies. Over time as her memory of them began failing, the illusions became flatter, more generic in their kindness and support, and at some points she truly believes that's what RWBY and Co. were like, while at others she can't stand the sight of them, the inaccuracies making her sick to her stomach.
She waits for her Heroes. The ones that saved her before.
She wears leather armor with a Leather helm that covers the lower portion of her face, with a large cloak and hood over all of it. her pants are very similar to previoupairs, simply plainer and sturdier. She has traded heels in for full hiking boots.
~~~~~
Fathomless Angler: Clover Ebi, now an old man, has grown tired, very, very tired. So tired he no longer cares to find a way out, and lets time slip by - He never read The Girl that fell Through the World, his knowledge of it's tale being minimal. He figures this is some twisted afterlife, that he'd done wrong fighting Qrow and has to let himself be punished for fighting his friend.
He Waits, as catching a fish is mostly waiting for it to take the bait. He's still trying to figure out his fish.
Clover wears a faded, dusty Atlesian coat, meant to have water and snow slide right off, with a large scarf and slick bucket hat. due to lack of care, his beard has grown long and scraggly, a veritable bush of salt and pepper. He wears Waders in place of his old Military boots.
~~~~~
The Cobalt Knight (Oxidized Cobalt): Alyx, upon deciding to amend her mistakes in the Ever After was assaulted by The Curious Cat. Jaune Arc, the Rusted Knight, still sick from the poison rushed to her aid. In the end, Alyx was saved, and the cat slinked away to lick it's wounds.
Jaune's didn't make it, and was swallowed by the tree.
Alyx, unable to heal him, to fix this mistake took up his weapons and trained. She was smart - out maneuvering and outsmarting the cat for years until she was able to fight it directly. Then they stayed apart, the Cat not wanting to risk themself, and Alyx not wanting to her own life in revenge.
Alyx waits for the same reasons Jaune did - Guilt, anger, self-loathing, and a need to help RWBY, with all the same weapons he fought with; Mind, Sword, and Shield.
She wears armor like Jaune's only simpler, and lighter, and in FAR better condition - only a little dirty and scuffed.
~~~~~
The Frosted Empress (Lonely): Weiss Schnee, Knowing all she had to do was wait, did just that. She waited. and Waited. And waited. She did her best to stay stable, she practiced arts, she kept up her training, she began to speak to herself in off moments, she never got along with people too much liker herself so Alyx was a handful to deal with.
She oscillates between a very sweet, matronly figure, and an Icy, bitchy Vol-1-esque personality, with moments of lucidity being not too uncommon.
This Weiss wears very simply constructed outfits - basic chain mail and dresses, with immense ornamentation, and a veil, like one would wear at a funeral. She has many different trinkets - leaves, feathers, jewelry and what not.
~~~~~
The Wilted Rose: Ruby Rose fell into the Ever After, and Suffered. She fought as much as she always had, but with no support, no clear goal and the weight of her failings crushing her, Alyx and Lewis were the Straws that broke the Camel's back.
She Ascended into the one person she knew could do anything.
Summer rose.
As motherly and sweet as ever, this rose has thorns only for The Curious Cat - even if she can't remember why.
She looks like an older Summer. With like, very graying hair. It's just Summer Rose.

In today’s episode, Jaune revealed that Lewis and Alyx were actually residents of Vacuo Kingdom (surprise, surprise) during a time before the Great War. And since we know that Lewis actually returned from the Ever After, it make wonder something curious.
If Lewis was the author of the Girl Who Fell Through the World fairy-tale then it would make perfect sense as to why he omitted himself from the written adventures in the Ever After and chose to make Alyx the protagonist. It makes sense since, unlike Lewis, Alyx never returned home and basically “died” in the Ever After.
So my assumption is that Lewis must’ve maintained his sister’s story through his story about her. That way Alyx’s legacy was able to live on in some shape or form despite the real Alyx practically ceasing to exist after never returning home.
Since Jaune was shown to still be have some qualms over his time in the Ever After, it got me thinking.
What if…Jaune were to (somehow) discover the original journal of Lewis which he had used to record his experience in the Ever After in the Vacuo archives?
Tumblr media
What if…Jaune were to meet someone closely connected to Lewis and Alyx while in Vacuo? Like a surviving member of their family bloodline still thriving in modern Remnant.
What if… Headmaster Theodore was that surviving member? I know the main popular theory is that Lewis was one of Ozma’s reincarnations but imagine if Lewis wasn’t an Ozma reincarnation but Theo’s ancestor instead?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I haven’t read either of the RWBY After the Fall books so I’m not familiar with Headmaster Theodore in terms of characterization or like what his backstory is.
That being said, I do, however like the idea of the final maiden being connected to Theo in some shape or form.
For me, I like the prospect of the Summer Maiden being either Theo’s daughter or younger sister or cousin or niece or some important person to him as she’s probably the only family he has left.
Again, I don’t know anything about Theo but thus far, none of the other headmasters of the huntsmen academies have had any reason to be protective of their respective maiden outside of a moral obligation as per Ozpin’s instructions.
To make Theo stand out more, I think it would be a nice change of pace if Theo, the final headmaster, were to share an actual connection to the final  maiden as she is a beloved relative of his.
Tumblr media
Why bring this up? Well I like the idea of Jaune forming a close relationship with another Maiden candidate. Maybe he could even fall in love with the Summer Maiden.
Tumblr media
Technically, Jaune hasn’t had a legit love interest since Pyrhha and I don’t know about ya’ll but…after six seasons (and half a movie), I’m kind of tired of being reminded of Arkos, ya’ll.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was the Ship that was meant to be that never got to be because Writers decided to kill it off early.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Don’t get me wrong. I love Arkos. Arkos was a great ship that was gone too soon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To (finally) close the chapter on Jaune moving on from Pyrhha (since even after all of his growth, I still don't think he's over her as the show keeps constantly bringing up whenever they can)...
I think it actually might be cute if Jaune does end up being romantically involved with the Summer Maiden who he actually succeeds in protecting from Cinder when she comes to steal her powers.
Tumblr media
I’ve grown tired of new maidens showing up in the story just to die for the sake of the powers being passed onto a main character.
Since Summer is the last maiden, it would be nice if Summer is the one to stop the cycle of original maiden deaths and she actually gets to live on even after opening the vault.
As much as I like WhiteKnight as a ship, I honestly gave up on it becoming canon after V5 dropped and nothing else was done to further develop Weiss and Jaune’s relationship as a prospective romance.
Yeah sure, V9 tossed us a crumb of Weiss being attracted to Jaune in his more mature Rusted Knight persona.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But after further deliberation, I’ve concluded that that little nugget of hope isn’t enough to get me back on the horse of hoping for a romance between these two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you know what would actually be pretty wild?
If Jaune fell in love with the Summer Maiden who is not only a red-head (like Pyrhha) but is also a descendent of Lewis who is the author of the Girl Who Fell Through the World and thus a relative of Alyx.
Tumblr media
And unlike Alyx and Pyrhha who Jaune failed to protect/help/save, Jaune is able to do just that with the Summer Maiden by protecting her from Cinder and thus, the two are able to live happily ever after.
That would actually be wild.
Not saying this would become true in the canon. I'm just tossing it out into the RWBY FNDM ether as a food for thought.

alright ain't no way Alyx actually made it out of there. I think they have the story swapped and Lewis sacrificed Alyx to the tree in order to leave and then wrote the story. There's a reason they specifically called him CLEVER and gave him the name LEWIS like Lewis Carroll
I think Alyx was given to the tree and became the Blacksmith - or someone or something else maybe idk. But Lewis 100% wrote The Girl Who Fell Through the World and I will die on that hill.

I know the impression Jaune is under is that the cat is evil and whatever, but i legitimately think that maybe he’s misunderstanding the situation. The cat doesn’t seem to be malicious at all and in fact seemed genuinely hurt that the team so easily discarded them. I think Louis was the one who got out because he was already kind and perhaps figured out who he was in the ever after. Alyx was probably deemed unworthy of the tree and some part of her is still in the ever after. I also think Louis maybe wrote the story and made it about his sister, maybe to give her the happy ending he wished she could have had if things were different.

the fact that Alyx and Lewis were from Vacuo means that there's probably a way into the Ever After in Vacuo
so we might get to see the Somewhat, Juniper and Neo in future volumes

This has been on my mind for a while, but do you think that the Ever After planned everything to go the way it needed to?
Despite Ruby and Neo falling at the same time, Neo fell later. Then the fact that Jaune fell moments after team RWBY, he there since dawn never saw them and was the only one to find the "Time Tree" and just so happened to sent back years to meet Alyx and Lewis to become the Rusted Knight.
It just seems everything fell into place for things to end well. What do you think
The Ever After is, at its core, a story book land. It’s people are real, with real feelings and real pain, but they’re fundamentally different than Remnantians because Afterans aren’t BORN. They’re CREATED to follow a certain role
I think that most of the Ever After follows that rule
More interestingly, the Ever After seems to have its “role” be to heal people, in somewhat unconventional ways
Whether that’s through the Paper Pleasers just wanting to help, ascension taking people who have lost their way and bringing them back as what they WANT to be, or even the Cat’s original purpose of giving pieces of their heart to hurting creatures
We see it several times with RWBYJN over the course of the volume
Ruby feels like the Ever After is trying to break her down, but in actuality the Blacksmith keeps intervening to try to get Ruby to realize that she is enough, before Ruby resorts to killing herself
Neo’s Semblance evolves, giving her Roman back, what she’s wanted since he died. But I’m getting him back Neo is finally able to let him go
Yang and Blake are brought together by the Punderstorm finally giving them a chance to breath and actually talk about their feelings for each other
Jaune, my poor boy, is shunted backwards in time so he has “time” to heal from killing Penny, and then when that doesn’t work (thanks trauma) he’s dropped off with the Paper Pleasers so the kindest Afterans can care for him
ALSO, he’s sent back in time so that Alyx and Lewis, two defenseless children fallen into a nonsense world, have someone capable of defending them and guiding them through the world
So no, I don’t think any of it is a coincidence. The Ever After had its own role to play, and it was created to be a utopia, meant to heal and fix things without really worrying about the consequences (thanks Brother Gods)
And although it’s methods are objectively questionable, you can’t deny the results

For all Jaune’s criticism of Alyx treating the Ever After as make believe where she could do whatever she wanted, he’s not actually that different from her in that way. He’s just playing a different kind of make believe, which on the surface is more benign but is still harmful and paternalistic.
Jaune is seeing the Ever After through the eyes of a traumatized man who wants to protect human lives. But the Afterans are not human and trying to act as if they are is harmful. None of the Afterans have shown anything resembling discontent or fear about the process of ascension. It's a natural part of their existence. Jaune sees it as being equivalent to death on Remnant despite the inhabitants trying to explain otherwise. He's an outsider imposing his idea of how the world should work onto a world that clearly does not fit his views.
When Jaune says Afterans are "too smart, too dumb, or too crazy to be trusted" he's using that as an excuse to dictate their actions because "they don't know what they want". But for the most part the Afterans we've seen haven't been dumb, crazy, or maliciously conniving. They're just weird because their world works by extremely different rules, rules that Jaune is not able to accept.
I am tremendously sympathetic to Jaune, but he's making assumptions and thinks he knows better than everyone else, because he's desperate to actually be a hero and not a perceived failure.

Black people in RWBY either gets sexualized or demonized I fucking hate it hereeeee
Tumblr media
[paragraph pasted for clarity:]
Tumblr media
& added on because i had no further space but the company behind this show is incredibly antiblack. there was documented abuse of a notable black woman, including telling her to kill herself & writing the n slur around the workplace that continued until hr famous father had to get involved & call them out.
miles has said the n slur. other employees have done blackface & also said antiblack slurs. various antiblack stereotypes have also been employed in the show, including the basis of flynt's entire character.
as well as centering all of these black characters around their white counterparts. they are not allowed to exist in their own space without becoming a white characters subservient, villain or thrown off screen.

I finally get the purpose of RWBY following the shadow of Alyx in the opening. Because they're following in her exact footsteps, despite her not actually being there.
Tumblr media
If there is a timeline to this then it should be after Alyx left the Ever After as pointed out by Blake: "[The Raccoon] is a lot older than I remember from the book." Unless that was a throwaway line for shits and giggles.
Has Alyx fallen the second time? In case the opening is anything to go by. Or was that merely symbolic, meant to represent another character? How does Neo fit into this aside from following the legendary Torchwick quote: "Lie, Steal, Cheat, and Survive"? All of this is very intriguing, I can't wait to see the chess game between Ruby and the King.

So, as of right now, we have two main candidates for the author of the ‘The Girl Who Fell Through The World’, either Alyx or Lewis.
Which means either Alyx or Lewis specifically described Jaune as handsome in the book.
And I can’t decide which one is funnier.
