Beckett’s news!
Beckett has started a courtship!
He’s started a courtship with a girl named Mandy Cheney
Let’s meet her family!
The Cheney family are from Oasis Springs. Father Erik works in a business in town while mother Noelle is a homemaker who homeschools their children - they have 6 children together: Mandy, Janine, Aubree, Kendra, Blaine, and Alyse. Beckett initially met Mandy when she moved into Newcrest to help a local church family with childcare, she started attending church with the family and became fast friends with his sisters Amira, Priscilla, Annette, and Ashton. They began seeing each other and chatting more and more at church events, and Beckett asked Mandy’s father for permission to court her when her family came into town for a visit. The families have many mutual friends due to church circuits overlapping, and can’t wait to see what the future holds for this young couple! Beckett is working on his degree in Bible & Missions, while also working as an craftsman's apprentice. Mandy graduated out of her mothers’ schoolroom and is excited to see what the Lord does with her life. Currently she’s content with being a child minder and helping homeschool a family friends children. One day she hopes to be able to travel out into the mission field with Beckett, but for now they’re taking things one day at a time. In terms of their courtship guidelines, for now they’ve agreed to limit their physical touch and save handholding for engagement, something her father had suggested to them at the start of their relationship.
Congratulations Beckett and Mandy!

From NPR:
Jan. 12, 2018 | Tom Huizenga -- When we invited Russian pianist Daniil Trifonov to play a Tiny Desk concert, we rolled out the big guns. In place of the trusty upright, we wedged a 7-foot grand piano behind Bob Boilen's desk in preparation for the artist who The Times of London called "without question the most astounding pianist of our age."
That's a pretty lofty claim, but watch and judge for yourself. His performance here is extraordinary. Still in his 20s, Trifonov seems to have it all: jaw-dropping technique and interpretive skills beyond his age. He's also a composer — the night before his NPR visit, he played his own knuckle-twisting piano concerto at the Kennedy Center here in Washington, D.C.
But for his Tiny Desk show, Trifonov focused on Chopin, beginning with the mercurial "Fantaisie-Impromptu" in C-sharp minor, a work that mixes sweeping melody, turbulent passion and wistful repose. Hunching close over the keyboard with feline agility, Trifonov's slender fingers glide effortlessly. He coaxes the instrument to sing tenderly in the slow central section.
Trifonov follows with a pair of short tributes to Chopin by his peers. Robert Schumann's "Chopin" accentuates the lyrical side of Chopin, filtered through the German composer's forward-looking harmonies, while Edvard Grieg's "Hommage à Chopin" offers volatility, lovingly rendered.
The smartly programmed set is capped with more Chopin, but with a nod to Mozart: the finale from a set of variations based on an aria from Don Giovanni. It gives Trifonov a chance to display his lightness of touch, plus a few pianistic fireworks. Smiling, he treats the tricky filigreed runs and hand crossings as if it were a child's game. Look closely and you can see the piano shake.
(Daniil Trifonov appears courtesy of Deutsche Grammophon GmbH.)
Set List* Chopin: "Fantaisie-Impromptu, Op. 66" Schumann: "Chopin. Agitato" (from Carnaval) Grieg: "Hommage à Chopin, Op. 73, No. 5" Chopin: "Variations on 'Là ci darem la mano' (from Mozart's Don Giovanni) - Coda. Alla Polacca" *(Selections found on the album Chopin Evocations.)

Dec. 11, 2017 | Sidney Madden — Tyler, The Creator’s Tiny Desk performance was a first for many reasons. It was the Los Angeles rapper’s first time performing at our offices, but moreover, it was the Tiny Desk’s first nighttime performance, a special request from Tyler and his team in order to professionally light the “stage” themselves. Members of Tyler’s lighting crew came to the office a day before to set it up, eventually bathing him and his band in shades of fuchsia, orange and blue — one for each song — during the early evening show.
Flower Boy, Tyler’s latest album, is much like this Tiny Desk performance; a surprising departure from the expected. Four albums in, he has matured as a producer, rapper and human being. Often equated to hip-hop’s class clown, the 26-year-old peels back his own mask of immaturity to reveal a young adult grappling with anxiety, fear and uncertainty of self.
After he was done, Tyler did something of a modified mic-drop, throwing his tambourine in celebration of what he and his band had accomplished. Always one to stay casually connected with his fans, Tyler made time — nearly an hour after the performance was done —- to pose for photos, sign merch and crack jokes with (and on) everyone around him.
Set List
“Boredom”
