🍓You are the only person who wanted sfw with Jade! It's so wild because he was the most requested but it was all nsfw. I wasn't aware of how popular Jade was in comparison to Floyd and Azul. I supposed that's my own personal bias lol.

A - Affection: Hmmm... Jade is an oddball. See, he is not nearly as outwardly affectionate as Floyd, in fact, he's pretty standoffish, so you'd expect him to not be all that affectionate. It's the opposite though. He's always showing you that he loves you in some way, just in his own way. He compliments you, hovers around you, and keeps a hand on your back when he can. The best way to tell, however, is the way he looks at you. It's just so soft and sweet and loving.

B - Best friend: Answered here

C - Cuddles: Jade does love cuddles! He doesn't have some special reason for it, he just likes them. He likes being close to you and this is the easiest way to do it. He likely won't cuddle you in public (who does that anyway?), but he's more than happy to cuddle you when it's just you two and a few people you know. He also uses it as an excuse to tickle you or to get himself out of work. If you refuse him he pouts at you until you give in. (He's worse than Floyd I s2g)

D - Domestic: Believe it or not, all Jade wants to do is settle down. He doesn't want a boring life or anything, but he wants a little domestic life with you. He enjoys housework, and he dreams of having his own little room for all his terrariums that he can care for after a long day of work. He'd love for both of you to come home after a long day of work and be able to see each other. Cook dinner together, dance together in the glow of the kitchen light, and do all that cutesy romantic shit together.

E - Ending: Jade is very factual about everything, and he knows how badly it hurts. He points out everything you did wrong. All the times you upset him, how he feels so unseen, how much you hurt his heart so many times. He knows that 90% of what he's saying is exaggerated, but he doesn't care. He lost interest, and he has no reason to stick around waiting for you to be fun again.

F - Fiance(e): Marriage isn't something he actively thinks about, but he does like the idea of it. It's just such a strong bond keeping two people together, quite poetic. Now, if Jade is proposing to you it's not for shits and giggles. Yes, he's a tease and an asshole, but he's not going to waste his time on a proposal to someone he doesn't actually see a future with.

G - Gentle: He's... uhm... something. He's not like, tossing you around and trying to hurt you, he just teases you a little too much. Like, yeah he's a very mean person and he knows what he says hurts, but he's not trying to hurt all the time. He likes to poke fun at you, and sometimes he can take it too far. He's a man though, he can suck it up and apologize when he messes up. Physically, however, he's pretty gentle. He doesn't forget his strength, so he's extra cautious when he's touching you. Sevens forbid he hurts his love.

H - Hugs: Like I said, he likes being close to you, so he loves hugs. He's not hanging off you all the time like Floyd, but he's not nearly as flaky about it as Azul. He hugs you when he gets the urge to, that's it. His favorite thing to do is to creep up behind you and wrap you into a big warm back hug.

I - I love you: Jade is pretty calculated about everything he does, he thinks about everything that happens so he can remain in control. With saying I love you, that's a big commitment, and he has to think it through. He wants to be sure he actually does love you, and he isn't pulling both of you into a mess for later. He ends up dropping it one day, seemingly out of nowhere, when you're helping him take care of his terrariums. He turns to look at you, smiles, and just says it. It's cute and unexpected from Jade. For him, he'd been meaning to tell you this whole time, it's just now he was able to get it out.

K - Kisses: Jade kisses you a lot more than you'd expect. He's not all over you like Floyd is, but he does love sneaking a kiss or two where he can. He does these little drive-by cheek kisses that always leave you and whoever you're talking to flustered. Sometimes, if he's in a mood, he'll full stop, grab your face and kiss you, then walk away like nothing happened.

L - Little ones: Jade adores kids. They are just the most interesting, odd little creatures on earth. They have no filter, they speak their mind, and they're very cute. He wants at least one kid, just to raise them up and experience raising one as his own. A second would be nice, so the first doesn't get lonely. He just likes the idea of hanging out with a kid and being able to watch them grow with his help.

M - Morning: Jade wakes up early, not to really do much of anything, he just naturally wakes up early. He spends most of that time just watching you rest. You always wake up to him smiling at you, playing with your hair, and just being a sweetheart. You get ready side by side, and he continues to watch you as you get dressed and ready for the day.

N - Night: Jade likes to go to bed at a reasonable time. A lot of nights with him are particularly relaxing. He makes both of you tea as you settle and get ready for bed. Then, you snuggle up to each other and read or talk until the two of you are ready to fall asleep in each other's arms.

O - Open: Jade isn't particularly closed off, but he's not an open book. It takes him a little while to be sure he wants to open up, and when he does decide he's ready he starts dropping little things. He lets you figure things out for yourself, and if you ask questions he answers, but it's slow. You get to know each other over a long period of time, but it's pretty eye-opening for why he acts the way he acts.

P - Patience: I feel it's hard to get Jade to the point of anger. He's a pretty relaxed person all things considered, and he takes most bad things that happen as a chip off the shoulder. However, if you wanna piss him off, mess with his terrariums. He works so hard on those, they are his things, and if you mess them up on purpose... you're gonna be in a world of hell.

Q - Quizzes: Jade is the kind of person who memorizes everything there is to know about their partner but acts like he doesn't. Like you can bring something up that you mentioned and he acts all confused and surprised, only to later reveal that he'd known all along and had been planning a fun little surprise for the both of you. He does that a lot on anniversaries, and he always manages to surprise you.

R - Remember: It's probably your first anniversary together. He plays his little forgetting game, and you spend the whole day pouting and upset trying to get him to notice. You almost give up on having a cute date when he invites you to the Monstro Lounge. When you walk in, the place has been set up for a two-person date for both of you. All your favorite foods and sweets laid out on the table for you to enjoy, and enough space for you two to sway to the music. The look of delight and surprise on your face was enough to make Jade's heart race.

S - Security: Jade is about as protective as you'd expect. That is, very protective. He doesn't have to worry most of the time, because who in their right mind gets on the Octanivelle trio's bad side, but he always has his eye out for someone who wants to cause you trouble. If someone does, they better start believing there's an afterlife, cause they're about to get really close to seeing it.

T - Try: He puts a lot of effort into anything he does for you, it's just rarely obvious that he does. He isn't a showy person until he wants to be. He plans everything out very well, and he always manages to outdo himself every single time. He doesn't spend tons of money, but he spends a lot of time and effort into making things just right for the both of you.

U - Ugly: He stares. A lot. It's usually flattering and he's looking at you so gently and with so much love. Sometimes, though, he's quite creepy. He just sits there and watches you without really blinking or doing much of anything else.

V - Vanity: He isn't too concerned. He ensures that he's nice and straightened out; he ensures that he's clean and looks good, but he doesn't care that much. All of that is just for appearances, he doesn't actually care about what others think about him, he just wants to appear that way.

found out about the journey to the west matsu aus and discussed the casting with oomf...... transcribing the essay i wrote in their discord DMs here cuz i wrote a lot so why not lol

oso as sun wukong: this makes the most sense as the red/main guy/foolish guy who suffers from hubris. actually in second pic it looks like he's currently being subjected to his headband punishment which is really funny combined with sanzang (his master who inflicts the headband punishment) being choro

i do think oso matches sun wukong's stupidity and hubris. and combined with choro sanzang i do think this is probably the funniest option

also he just looks very cute here. he's just a little scamp. wukong has a very boyish charm (at least in the beginning) so i get the transference. i also think the idea of being able to start torturing oso at any given moment is appealing

kara as the horse dragon prince is 100% real. this is so true. it's a stupid role for him he looks dumb af in this costume and the horse prince is just a stupid motherfucker who gets the short end of the stick throughout the entire story. perfect no notes

he Would be choro's steed. this is his role. he's da horse they ride on who turns into a beautiful woman one time to try to save sanzang and fails. it's perfect for him

it also fits cuz the dragon horse is prince of the sea and he's got like the water theming too

choro as sanzang: i feel like this is a lowkey blasphemous casting given that sanzang is such a pure and noble monk and choro is just constantly consumed by his desires. but it's not like anyone else wouldve been better (Actually matsuyo wouldve been better. Put matsuyo in this role) and again keeping in mind his dynamic with wukong i do think it's the funniest option so i'll allow it. this dude would not HESITATE to cause oso physical pain when he's annoying him and would constantly berate and harp on the importance of not killing people (who are trying to kill him) to the point of redundancy and to his active detriment. and sanzang i guess is the most proper of the cast trying to keep everyone in line (Because he is a monk) so it fits dynamic-wise

ichi as bull king: bull king is a famous jttw villain, but honestly not like.... major......i feel like in my memory he is largely characterized by being the husband of the Iron Fan lady and the father to red boy. so casting any matsuno as a Guy Who's Famous For Being A Husband And Father is kind of funny and wrong to me lol. it's very weird that this is his only consistent casting to me (between this set and the merch au) because i dont think the bull king has any ichi attributes (isn't he usually interpreted as very red-colored even? lol)

he has nothing to do with cats and the wikipedia page says he's a major villain but i s2g he's in like 4 stories max. i guess they just went to find "who's the biggest villain in jttw" and slapped him on there even though i feel like the point of jttw is that there arent any like, truly central villains because it's like 9981 disjointed trials. and i guess he looks cool. idk

if it were me i'd maybe have cast him as guanyin because 1. it's funny 2. she's the one who gives sun wukong the punishment headband, and also does a lot of other lowkey sadistic things throughout the series, and is much more of a pivotal figure throughout the story since theyre always going to her for help.....

although actually if we were going to extend this then totoko would be a perfect guanyin. so i just dont know who ichi would be in that case

jyushi as pigsy is sooooo true. pigsy is just a airheaded and stupid lustful guy who likes to eat and is always causing troubles so it fits him within the dynamic. no notes

and totty as wujing is very fitting because wujing is the youngest disciple and lowkey doesnt get to do anything for most of the story he's just always talked over. i think they interpreted wujing's water attributes as kappa attributes here which is cute. ill allow it

and then my gripes with the other casting from the merch set

ok the other one. i think oso is meant to be the buddha based on the ears and outfit but the lotus is a guanyin (goddess) thing so i think they have their visuals a little confused. but ill assume he's buddha...? i think this is a really funny and unfitting choice considering the buddha's basically only role is to give them the goal and then to punish wukong for his hubris and that doesnt suit bakamatsu at all. but it's funny so i get it

kara as sanzang..... i guess i can kind of see it in the same way i see priest kara working but they share no attributes. and again the wukong dynamic doesnt work, sanzang is always berating wukong and will easil yresort to physical punishment . would karamatsu ever hurt jyushi if it came down to it? maybe it's smoke inhalation but im leaning towards kara being too big of a pussy to do that. so

choro as shajing.............. shajing is kind of the quiet serious one so i kind of get it....? and if they want to do the kappa thing i gues the green fits. so like presonality wise this one does fit for the most part. shajing is also kind of a social outcast so i suppose this fits choro better

again i dont knw owhy ichi is the bull king. why was this the only consistent one

jyushi wukong... wukong is certainly sillay and whimsical but i feel like jyushi is lacking in hubris. jyushi Knows that he's stupid but wukong's whole character is constantly being punished for his pride. i think the colors are cute though

totty pigsy... pink so true. but pigsy is explicitly like. a menace kind of womanizer not a charming one. the whole reason he's a pig is because he made a pass at a girl that he shouldnt have and it was his punishment, i dont think totty's really like that lol

Like TMA/TME continue to be completely useless terms, I have never once seen TMA used in a way where trans women or trans fem couldn't have been swapped in without changing a single other word, and I've never seen TME used in a way that doesn't inherently invalidate the lived expiriences of other queer people. they’d planned to take you to a cool, nice dinner at this trendy place asaad had seen on tiktok, which honestly sounded fun. plus, it’s mexican food, which is basically your favorite other than your nani’s lamb biryani. and it had seemed exciting and fun but then you had looked through your entire suitcase and didn’t love any of the tops you packed, and you want to do your makeup but you’re not that good at it yet, and usually your mama helps you, and —

you sniffle and take a calming breath, wipe the tears from under your eyes. it’s okay, you tell yourself. you can ask for help. your aunts love you, and your big brother loves you, and sometimes, of course, he teases you but not about this. never about this. if you felt bad enough you didn’t want to go out, no one would be mad at you.

you take another big breath and then put on one of aunt bea’s old t-shirts she’d accidentally left in london last year and then had laughed and told you to keep it. you walk down the stairs to your aunts’ bedroom. asaad and aunt bea are tending to the herb garden outside, and you’re not surprised to see aunt ava seemingly emptying a quarter of their closet onto their big bed. you linger in the doorway, your heart caught a little in your throat, but then aunt ava looks up and stills, then offers you a smile that always feels warm, and calm, and you don’t ever wonder why aunt bea fell in love with them.

it makes you blush, but you turn quickly so aunt ava can't really see. you know she knows, but, like, it's fine. whatever. maybe she's the prettiest person you've ever seen and she's kind and funny and smart and owns her own bar, but she's also your aunt, who you've watched throw up in a bush after she drank too much champagne at brunch one time, and she always falls asleep on aunt bea's shoulder when you go to a movie. there's no reason to be embarrassed, and there's also no reason, you remind yourself, to not want to feel pretty.

you get your setting spray and foundation and concealer and their respective brushes, and then aunt ava shows you through a lot of makeup. you don't think you'll ever want to own this much makeup in your entire life, and it's kind of funny because aunt ava doesn't really wear much most days, but she just — she loves it. she loves sharing with you, and explaining why she got stuff that doesn't really make sense, and eventually you pick out a gold eyeliner to use. aunt ava makes sure not to cover your freckles completely when she helps with your foundation, and then, when you try to do the eyeliner yourself and mess it up, she hands you a makeup wipe without any judgement or impatience.

you finish with some mascara, and you sit and talk and listen to music in the background while aunt ava does her own makeup. she lets you pick out any crop you want, and she decides, after a fair amount of deliberation, on a sundress that you know is aunt bea's favorite on her. gay, you think, and then say aloud because you're sure aunt ava will appreciate it. and she does: she laughs, and aunt bea kisses her after she knocks on the doorframe and then smiles softly when she sees the two of you.

'you both look amazing,' she says. 'asaad has already freshened up, so i just need to change, and then we can go. i'm confident it we leave in ten minutes, we'll make our reservation time.'

'what if we left in twelve minutes?' aunt ava asks.

aunt bea just ignores her and walks to their closet and lightly closes the door, which seems to delight aunt ava. she snorts.

What's the resource your clan trades in? What is it that they're known for? How in demand is it? What do they trade for? Is it for resources or items they otherwise wouldn't be able to obtain? How do they manage these trade lines?

The same could apply to the potential underground/black market ring. What do they trade in and for what? What measures do they have in place to avoid capture or being stopped? Do they pay off guards or do they just make them disappear? Do they have an unspoken limit on what exactly they'll trade, or is it a free for all?

So, I'm just going to go off the main clan for this--and the easiest answer I can give you is that since they're so varied in their talents, they offer up a lot of different products!

And this ranges from the big one: produce, to hand-made crafts from different clan members!

There's also a big demand for the alcohol made in the Emerald Locust Tavern, which sells really well because people can just come and pick it up themselves if they wish!

And of course, they're always welcome to trade for things such as produce they may not have access to, specialty teas/alcohols they don't make themselves, and even specialty weaponry that better suits every different Flight member in the clan!

NOW--since you mentioned them, Vanadev does still run a black market trade that specializes in rare fabrics and gems above all else. Hey, he wants the best and he'll get the best. So, Lockwood isn't...entirely fond of this, but looks the other way because they tend not to resort to violence if they're caught. (...most of the time. They strike first though, all bets are off.) He often pays for all of this in either alcohol or his protective services! And since he's fairly damn confident in his skills, he'll get into some pretty sketchy situations...those are more fun, after all.

I think it might be time for Rhea to get her title back? That way the next rematch is Liv trying to win it again instead of Rhea still chasing what Liv has? Plus, I think it would be an (unexpected) twist as far as LivDom is concerned. my mind took "you're a mckinnon now" and ran and i've spent the last 3 days trying to make my thoughts into somewjat coherent, okay, i'm going to try to explain it now:

the mckinnons sort of… absorb families/bloodlines. that's why it's not very common for other sacred 28 purebloods to marry a mckinnon, and if they do, it's always a woman bc she's expected to give up her family name when she marries anyways

what i mean by absorb is that many of their spouses—both husband's & wives—are either only children (so the bloodline & family name continues thru them) (ends w them) or (esp for the men) don't mind giving up or don't want to keep their fam name

it isn't meant malicious now, when the mckinnons aren't sooo idk. extreme? but a few centuries ago? maybe their spouses weren't so cool with their kids being mckinnons…with being the last of their family (bc we know names & bloodlines are really important in wizarding britain)

and their family magic is spiritual, right? idrk how you mean by that, maybe you'll expand further as marlene gets a bit more involved in ttdl? but rn i've sort of related it like spirit→magic→blood. so if they're like, collecting? magical bloodlines? maybe that'd influence some magic & rituals. + old-age ideas of like absorbing magical bloodlines into your own

ajglshkdjfsd ive been trying to think of like, a Deep and Intelligent response and i s2g the only image in my brain is the mckinnons' house opening its front door and going 'om nom nom' whenever one of the mckinnons brings their s/o home to meet the family

one very important thing about the mckinnon family specialty is that it is large-scale. on the most fundamental level, the more people they have, even if not all of their people were born with an affinity for their specialty, even if not all of their people have ties to any other important people, the more powerful they are as a family. the mckinnon specialty doesn't really require a powerful innate affinity in order to be used, although that helps - what it does require is LOTS OF PEOPLE

dark affinities will... decline if they're not used, if that makes sense? it's a combination of the dilution of successive generations having a smaller and smaller share of that affinity, and the lack of usage meaning that the body's capability for that magic decreases over time. this is why the specialties are still so distinct between different families, even after generations of intermarrying - you have to practice your specialty to keep your affinity for it strong and ensure that you'll pass it on to your kids. that's only passingly related to what you were talking about but since you mentioned collecting bloodlines i thought i'd mention it

so every year basically on our birthdays we send each other letters. and by sending I mean hand delivering it to them cause we live two mins away

but it just always has this format right? the address while following the normal format didn't contain the actual working address ala harry potter style kinda like for ex

but then the letter would be the most beautiful piece of ode to friendship to each other and just her and she shines my world and just e v e r y t h i n g.

like my description of notes is this should be so emotive that the reader is reduced to tears laughs and everything in between and those letters (more like a 5 page essay) is something that is one of my most cherished thing to get yearly.

and if you want to add angst to it, imagine sirius finding all those old james letters for each one of his birthday and one maybe for his 22nd one that he didnt get to read for lets just sya reasons

so. because i’m me, i’m gonna add an aspect of generational/familial history to it. so, imagine like fleamont and/or euphemia writing letters for james on his birthdays, right? and it’s filled with these heartfelt, funny messages and he cherishes them a lot. brings them to hogwarts and reads them when he’s feeling upset (only making himself more homesick in the process lol)

and then on sirius’ first bday in hogwarts (which is only a couple months in, yeah?) he sees that he gets a terrible, horrible letter from his family that doesn’t nothing except scold him/humiliate him and how it hurts sirius. SO. in a bid to restructure his perception of bday letters, james borrows from his own tradition & starts writing letters for sirius. he’s so filled w affection always that it’s absolutely not a problem for him to fill pages upon pages. (and u can even add the address thing as way for j to make it funny so sirius laughs!!)

so yeah, james starts it and slowly, hesitantly, sirius does the same. he’s never as proficient at it as james is, because he’s not as emotional in the first place, but whatever he writes is always heartfelt. (also, in a creative sirius scenario, u could hc that he draws something or composes music just for james and that’s equally sentimental but w/o being so horribly revealing?)

and like yeah, imagine then that james has got his 22nd bday letter all written and stuff bc he’s a little dork who never leaves stuff until the last minute unless he can help it, right? and despite doing this for a decade (a decade!!! they only had a decade together!!!) he’s still so fucking excited to write a fresh one bc he loves gifting and making people happy etc etc, and so he writes it, and keeps it in a nice little envelope w the potter seal embossed on it, just waiting to give it to sirius & see his expression (fav part) except.

except he can’t.

and when sirius enters the house, he sees james’ cold, dead body lying on the floor first, but once he gets up from the ground, he spots the envelope a few feet away and lets out a howl like never before. reads it so obsessively he can recite it, each word hitting like a stab in the heart.

(or, alternatively, u can imagine him somehow discovering the letter post-azkaban after he’s spends dozen years being psychologically tortured, reliving the potters’ deaths, and believing himself to be the cause of it. u pick)

(and of course, once sirius escapes, he does the same for harry. and to parallel james & sirius, the letter he writes for harry’s 16th is left in GP and harry only finds it after the war—or even during when they halt there—when he’s cleaning it up or wtv and basically breaks down all over again)

feel free to ignore/delete this ask for any reason, but i need to ask someone because i can't tell if i'm imagining things or not, and i know you've sort of talked about things like this before, but has there been a large jump in... not always active arophobia, but in the amatonormativity in mcyt fandom spaces lately? it feels like things go untagged, there's a larger focus on romance and love, and the active aphobia that there is just goes quietly unmentioned by the majority, and all of these more than before. this isn't me trying to say shipping's bad or anything, i don't have a problem with it, just that this fandom has felt so alienating lately for some reason and i can't figure out whether it's because something's changed in the fandom itself or not

i think this is genuinely a really interesting topic to talk about so i'm giving this a kinda longer response!

(tl;dr -- it's not just you and things have changed, but it's also not what you might think; this is how most non-mcyt fandoms are)

so! to start with, more than ever i think the amatonormativity thing depends on the specific sub-fandom you're in. qsmp's a huge outlier; by virtue of having canon relationships it brings itself more in line with the average fandom in terms of how much people talk about ships (being in a non-mcyt fandom or two helps for perspective on this. i s2g half the tag for murder drones is just ship wars. nonstop ship wars. please stop i want to discuss lore).

with qsmp being such a genuinely interesting outlier (it's something the english mcyt fandom hasn't seen in a while in terms of a series with explicitly canon relationships being mainstream) i think that causes a lot of people to really want to post about these relationships, because like... people feel strongly about being able to express this aspect of their interests in a way they weren't able to before, i think? we've never personally been interested in shipping stuff (with like maybe 5 exceptions ever across all fandoms we've ever been in) but the attitude towards shipping used to be so INCREDIBLY hostile that i think people take their ability to post ship stuff very personally.

i'm not sure about other series, though -- this is where things get weird, because we're not really in mainstream mcyt fandom right now. we don't follow a lot of hermitshippers, but most of them generally tag their stuff? on reblogs it's a bit more sloppy but i also think a lot of people tend to just put "i post [server]shipping content" in their bios as like a blanket reminder and leave it at that

all that said, i don't think it's intentional amatonormativity, or even remotely malicious. i do think we're seeing a lot more ship content than usual/it's a little more difficult to find platonic stuff than it used to be in general mcyt fandom -- this VERY much varies based on series, though. we currently main dominion/adjacent and there's not shit for ship stuff there (to be fair, there's also not a lot of fandom in general, it's Mad Small), whereas with something like trafficseries there's a lot of focus placed on shipping partly because that series is Heavily About character dynamics.

am i tired of seeing ship content as like the main product of fandom? oh, absolutely, but that's nothing new -- that's been the case since before we had this blog, before we were even in mcyt fandom at all. fandoms are just Like This, which can absolutely be exhausting if you're not here for ship content, but this sort of thing is not uncommon for any more mainstream fandoms.

so, yes, it's not just you, there's more amatonormativity in mcyt fandom than there used to be -- because it's starting to act more and more like most fandoms, and therefore is reflecting the amatonormativity most fandoms have, whereas before there was such a hostile attitude towards shipping that this absolutely Could Not be the case.

it sucks in some ways, but at the same time it's very important to note: this is not a new problem. this is an old problem. this is a problem as old as fandom itself, and mcyt fandom is only just getting to a place where people have stopped tearing each other's throats out long enough to act like most other fandoms do.
