A wild orca!!!!!!!! Wild orcas rarely attack people - REALLY rarely - and if there's a place for me to sit and enough room for the orca to be happy for a day or so, then we'll be good. Bonus points if we can get a ton of big fish for the orca to eat, and we can just chill and be friends.

Not going near captive orcas, though, they're stressed out :/

I really just love “Turnabout Reclaimed” as, like, the Big Moment of Phoenix’s Return to the Courts. Specifically because the whole thing in the ending where it’s like

I mean, you know, not 100% literally. It seems like Marlon Rimes did go to jail for a little bit, but it is still thanks to Phoenix presenting Evidence in Court that he got off relatively easy and found his happy ending just a few months after that.

Because, like… As a Murder Mystery, ‘Ace Attorney’ as a series obviously cares about Finding the True Culprit and Bringing Them to Justice - that is the climax and the implicit motivation of like 90% of all AA Narratives… But it’s also very important to me that Phoenix Wright is often much more emotionally involved in the idea of defending innocent people, rather than simply just stopping the bad guys.

Like, obviously this isn’t universal for his character. With the plots of AA cases centering, like I said, on Catching the Bad Guys, there are plenty of times where Phoenix declares or thinks about his desire to Prove the Bastard Guilty….

But it feels like it’s much more common for him to focus on just proving the innocent guilty and saving them from going to jail for a crime they didn’t commit, and it’s just that Proving the Bastard Guilty is the only way to do it within Japanifornia’s Legal System. And he’s not just more likely to think of it in these terms compared to other Murder Mystery Protagonists, but also compared to other Ace Attorney main characters!

Like, this is what being a Defense Attorney means to Phoenix! Between the Class Trial and his life mission to save Miles Edgeworth and the Dahlia Trial and taking on Maya’s defense… it has always been to him not just about finding the Truth or bringing people to justice, it has been first and foremost about helping people, saving those who have no one on their side! This is Phoenix's core value.

(I would say the one AA Character who is just as dedicated to Defending the Innocent above all else like Phoenix is…. Athena, who is also heavily featured in “Turnabout Reclaimed!)

So it only makes sense that his Grand Return will end with a reaffirmation of his ideals. First, through the entire case Marlon insinuates and then states directly that Phoenix cannot save both Sasha and Orla at the same time. He has to choose, the human or the Orca. And Phoenix managing to prove them both innocent is him proving and reaffirming that he really cares about defending everyone who needs his help. And then when he goes out of his way to help out Marlon, to save him from the harsh punishments of the legal system and his own guilt, that just reaffirms it even farther - that Phoenix Wright is a Defense Attorney so he can defend anyone who needs his help.

And it also works interestingly as a mirror to his downfall in “Turnabout Successions”. Like, it seems like Zak hid the Actual Diary Page from Phoenix even though it wouldn’t have just foiled Kristoph’s schemes, it would have helped Phoenix prove him innocent with his hand behind his back…. Because he was afraid that if he was proven innocent in that manner, then his lawyer would work to make sure Valant would be found guilty instead.

He thought that if this trial were to go ‘properly’, then he would have to choose, himself or Valant, he can’t save both at the same time. And indeed, since Kristoph created that Fake Diary Page before he was dismissed as Zak’s lawyer…

It seems like pinning the blame on Valant was indeed his plan. And although Zak sensed (or rather Perceived) his Bad Vibes, he still didn't have full trust in Phoenix either. He hid the true evidence of his innocence and planned the Disappearing Act because that was the only way he could see both himself and Valant going free, he couldn't believe his Attorney would ever fight as hard to prove Valant innocent as well. And these two decisions played an incredibly huge part in Phoenix Wright's disbarment.

So in a way, Turnabout Reclaimed, being another case focused on shows and performances and other ‘murder mystery’ where no one was actually murdered, where Phoenix defends and saves not just two different Defendants but also the ‘culprit’ - guilty of trying to frame someone but not of trying to kill the victim … shows us what would’ve happened if only Zak had put his trust in Phoenix fully and just told him what happened outright from the start. It is not just a reaffirmation of Phoenix’s values, but also a rejection of Kristoph’s dirty tricks and of Zak’s cynicism and lack of trust in Phoenix Wright.

I sat in the park with Lloyd and his friends, my back leaning against Kai’s as I scrolled on TikTok.

Kai was playing a game of cards with Zane while Jay and Cole where chasing each other around for god knows what, all I heard was something about Jay liking someone’s instagram with Cole’s account.

Lloyd was sat a few feet away from me while Nya painted his nails. We had all gotten our nails painted in our favourite colour by Nya, Lloyd was the very last one.

“Oh, would you look at this,” I grinned, catching the attention of Kai, Nya, Zane and Lloyd, not knowing if Cole and Jay had heard me as they had just landed in the grass about ten feet away, still arguing.

“A quiz made by a girl on tiktok,” I grinned. “Which Ninja is your soulmate?” I quoted and they all shared glances before laughing.

“A what now?” Cole and Jay both looked up from where they had been fighting.

“Shall I take the ultimate test?” I asked, clicking the link. It hadn’t take me long to realise that if Lloyd was the green ninja, that his friends where the other ninja and who would be who.

Kai turned around to look over my shoulder as I took the ultimate test.

“Oh, look at that, how classic, what is my favourite colour,” I chuckled at the question.

“That is such bullshit, the answers are only the colours of our gi,” Kai said from behind me.

“But what is your favourite colour?” Jay grinned and I shot a glance at Lloyd, who gave me a look.

“Gotta be green, right?” He asked and I pursed my lips.

“I have two favourite colours.” I said and chuckled. “One of them is in fact green…” I announced, making Lloyd grin. “The other is red, so which do I choose?” I asked.

“Red, obviously,” Kai already clicked before I even had the chance, making me laugh and Lloyd let out an offended noice.

“Which of these animals is your favourite,” I read the question. “An orca, a falcon, a snake, a horse, a tiger or a dog,” I read and frowned. “And who would be who?” I looked around the group.

“Zane is probably the falcoln,” Nya said. “and I am probably the orca, because water,” she reasoned. “But the others, no idea,”

I shrugged and just clicked f/a.

I answered a few more questions and then my results came in, making Kai burst out laughing.

“Who is it?” Jay asked excitedly, while Kai just kept laughing and an amused smile formed on my face.

“The Earth ninja is your soulmate,” I read aloud, making Nya and Jay also burst out laughing.

“I guess this is it Lloyd,” Cole grinned. “Seems like she’s leaving you for me,” he said and Lloyd gave him an unamused look.

“Sorry Lloyd, but it was Cole from the start,” I said dramatically. Cole winked at me and I blew him a kiss as reaction, making the others laugh even harder and even Lloyd chuckled a bit.

After that, we all went back to what we where doing, Cole joined Kai and Zane with their card game and Jay sat next to me to watch TikTok’s.

After a while, I got a call from an unknown number and frowned.

“Who’s that?” Jay asked and I shrugged.

“No idea,” I answered, making Jay grin brightly. “Pick up and put your phone on speaker, these calls are always interesting,” he said and I smiled and did as he asked.

“Hello? Who’s this?” I asked and my eyebrows raised when I heard the voice on the other side.

“Hey, N/n, it’s James,” he started off. “First off, I want to tell you that I love you so much and you are my best friend in the whole world,” he said and I could hear Luna in the background as she let out an offended noice.

“Yes,” I said sceptically. “And then?” I questioned and we all heard him awkwardly chuckle.

“Can I borrow 12.000 dollars?” He asked and my eyes widened in shock. “Please?” He quickly added.

“Twelve- what did you do? Why do you need it?” I asked, all eyes where now on me as everyone was interestedly what the hell was happening.

“No improtant, just first tell me yes or no,” he pleaded. “We’ll pay you back,” he said and I huffed.

“You better pay me back if I’m spending that much money on you- what do you need it for?” I asked and there was a pause on the other side.

“An escape room?” He said hesitantly and I heard Luna laugh in the background.

“What kind of escape room costs 12.000 dollars?” I asked and it was silent on the other side again.

“Jail,” he then said and I opened my mouth to say something and then closed it again, not knowing what to say for a moment.

“JAMES CHAPMAN WHAT DID YOU DO?” I yelled out and he nervously chuckled.

It was Luna’s idea,” he started.

“Was not!” She yelled at him from the background.

“Please, N/n, we’ll tell you later- but you’re like- the only person with this kind of money that we know, and we can’t bail ourselves out, so we called you,” he said and I groaned.

“What do you mean ‘the only one’ the twins are richer then I am if you include their money,” I said and he nervously chuckled again.

“About that,” he said and I groaned.

“Please don’t tell me they’re also there,” I said and I heard him swallow on the other side.

“What? No, of course not,” he said and was silent for a moment. “Yeah, okay, they are also here.”

“Which prison are you, I’ll come get you,” I said and I stood up.

“Oh, don’t worry, we’re not in prison, just a holding cell, but they already gave us a bail price, so…” he spoke and I was silent for a few seconds.

“James,” I started. “How long have you been there?” I asked and I heard him silently conversing with the others before speaking again.

“Yeah… like one day, maybe one and a half, but we just came back from the judge and we need 12.000 in total to be bailed out,” he said and I let out a sigh.

“Alright, I’ll be there in an hour or less,” I said before hanging up.

“Can someone maybe bring me to the local police station?” I asked and I looked around the group who stared at me owlishly.

“Lloyd, what did you get yourself into?” Kai said before standing up. “Come on, trouble, I’ll take you to the police station to bail your friends out of jail,” he said.

With a sigh I followed after him, both getting into his car.

It took a while for me to be able to get the money, I did have to borrow some from my dad, who just decided not to even start asking questions.

Then it took about an hour at the police station, as they weren’t sure if they’d let me bail out all for of them, especially because I was only eighteen.

“Where did you even get all of this money?” The woman at the front desk asked. “You seem rather young,”

“The last time I checked that wouldn’t be any of your concern,” I told her. “I am just here to get my friends out for- whatever they even did,” I said and she gave me a look before typing away on her computer.

Finally, I managed to get them all out and stood outside, giving them all unamused glares as they did the walk off shame, being brought out by two officers.

“Hey, N/n,” James tried to say with a bright smile on his face. I scoffed and turned around, followed by Kai. The four exchanged glances before quickly following.

“You four have 5 minutes to explain to me what you did and I am giving you guys one day to pay me back,” I said sternly when we sat in the car.

Lloyd POV:

It was almost ten when Kai came walking into the monastery with an exhausted look on his face. Me and the others were seated in the couch, watching a movie.

“Lloyd,” he started and I looked over at him. “You’ve got one rich girlfriend with a bunch of idiotic friends,” he said and let out a heavy sigh.

“I am going to bed, I am so lost and confused, that girl is going to be our downfall, Jesus fuckign Christ,” he went grumbling down the hallway as we all laughed at him.

The next day, it was the third of December, and I had in fact, remembered the song that Y/n and her friends had made us listen to.

So, now I was making my way over to her house to personally hand her one of my sweaters before I had to back to the monastery and train with the others.

I knocked on the door and one of their staff opened up, smiling at me when she recognised me.

“Y/n, Lloyd is here!” She called up the stairs.

“Coming!” I heard my girlfriend yell before footsteps came running down the stairs. “Thank you,” she thanked her staff member before smiling at me.

“Lloyd, I thought you said you couldn’t hang out,” she leaned against the doorframe, a bit out of breath.

“Yeah, I can’t, but I came to bring you this,” I handed her the sweater and her mouth fell open slightly while the corners of her lips curled up.

She gave me an amazed look before crashing into me to hug me. “Thank you so much!” She said and kissed my cheek, making me chuckle.

“I need to get going now, but I’ll see you Tuesday, I’m covering for Kai’s self defence lessons,” I let her know and she grinned at me.

“I’ll see you then,” she said, giving me a quick peck on the lips before closing the door again.

God did I love her.

I think it's my favourite one from an entire fic, it's so cute. Eclipse's curiosity and love for his birdie is so well captured. The want to keep those precious moments and the craft of Y/n close to himself. I think he also loved the fact that Y/n started capturing him, and them in their photos. It's something they love to do, their passion. They said they capture beautiful things. And now they choose to capture him. To capture them together.

This scene is so domestic and lovely. Taking picture with someone you care about at your outing.

There is something so soft about this line and situation. His cute side is showing, I think it always was but only now with Y/n's new perspective on his actions we can see it fully. He wants to have his birdie, he wants this picture, he wants closeness and affection. And he is so happy and proud of himself that he is finally getting it. I wish Y/n would give him a gift in return, big boy deserves it.

Damn Y/n just throw everything, tell your mer husband to pack his bags and fallow you to the warmer waters, move to the seaside, buy a house close to the sea, and live out the rest of your days being cared for by an orca man, you both deserve it. You will start photographing marine life, eclipse being an assistant by finding the epic places, you will make a fortune by that, the end, happy ending. Trust me that's a good plan.

There is an angry mob of people that will choose violence if you choose to abandon the Oreo man. Do not go that way.

Anyway, Naff you are amazing, thank you for this chapter and really this scene caused me such a heart-warming feeling you can't even imagine.

I'm melting at this analysis, ahhh! Eclipse sees Y/N finally accept him in the way he understands, which makes him so incredibly happy. Y/N understands Eclipse better than they ever have, and knowing what he's gone through and that they can reason with him, helps them feel more confident in their relationship with him. They're finally eye to eye. It's so wonderful and beautiful (and bittersweet).

Yet another misplaced human in these wondrous waters, a… poor unfortunate soul, as my sister would say. It hasn’t been that long since another tribe—who was it? The sharks?—had been… blessed with an unusual mate. And now there’s you! How exciting! The orcas are a little temperamental, but I’m sure they’ll treat you lovingly– 

Oh… so you want to leave? Already?

Ambitious, are we? Escape the creatures and get back to land. Well, don’t you look determined? Think you can handle these three strong orcas all by yourself? I’d love to see it. I delight in everything happening around these depths of the ocean, as they are so dark and deep, with barely anything transpiring all day. But as of late, love, freedom, and misery swim hand in hand down here. Intelligence and instincts fight battles that are beyond your little human comprehension. I could not be more pleased with the beautiful bonds that are being woven under the sea.

But I will cheer you on, I promise! I might even have some tips for you, seeing how I’ve been around these sandy lands and great reefs longer than you have!

I don’t think you can trust anyone besides me, really, but you’ll need an ally if you want to get back home. But be careful choosing who you trust. Sometimes you have to take drastic actions to get out of a situation, but there are also times when you need to sit back, stay calm, and let someone else handle it for you. And as badly as I know you want to get out… don’t do anything rash.

These orcas have a fickle disposition, and you wouldn’t want them to decide you’re no fun or tastier than they initially thought. In fact, you don’t want them to think about you at all! Otherwise —ey w—t l— —u ——!

I think most of you have already understood what will happen, but I thought I'd give a small heads-up about the how, so we're all on the same page:

This will be an interactive story, which means you guys will have to work together to figure out how to continue onwards by choosing the right poll option. Every chapter comes with a decision at the end, and three possible choices. But only one will continue the story while the other two lead to 'Bad Ends' aka not continue the story. Your goal is to escape the three orcas because they won't always like your decision, unfortunately.

I can already tell you that if the majority votes for a Bad End, you'll be able to choose again at the end of it, hopefully picking the right option this time. The story will not stop just because the right option wasn't picked. But who knows? Maybe choosing wrong is actually the better option sometimes (;

To clarify, there are 5 main chapters (the right choices) in total, 10 possible Bad Ends and 1 True End. This is not a video game so there are no secret routes. Nothing will change if you choose certain options after another. Your goal ultimately is to finish this story. But... some interactions and information may or may not be hidden in Bad Ends that could be enjoyable to you as well. (After finishing the main story I'll let you guys pick some other options you would have liked to see if you're interested in that ^-^)

One more exciting thing! I was able to commission a good friend of mine to actually do references for the orcas! We're still working on them but I hope you guys will enjoy some visuals of the new bois ♥

To choose between sea animals or land animals is very very hard decision for her!

But!!!

Based on my thought about Snow so far, I'd say her favorite animal is the orca whale. Even though she loves both land and sea animals, there's something about the orca that really fascinates and inspires her.

She loves how intelligent orcas are, able to problem solve and communicate in complex ways. Their unique culture and tight-knit family pods reminds her of the deep bonds she's formed with her KorTac comrades over the years. There's also something graceful yet powerful about the way orcas hunt and swim together that Snow truly admires.

Whenever she gets a rare chance to see orcas in the wild, like on a mission near the ocean, Snow is completely mesmerized. She'll spend hours watching them through her binoculars, trying to commit every behavior and interaction to memory. König has even caught her listening to recordings of orca calls to relax after intense operations.

Of course Snow also cares deeply for her white cat Luna. That little furball was gifted to her by a friend as a reminder of happier times, and she's become quite attached. Luna provides comfort on lonely nights at home and is always excited to greet Snow after long deployments. So while orcas may be her most favorite from nature's kingdom, Luna holds a special place in her heart too. (Yes, Snow is a plushie girl-)

All in all, I think Snow appreciates both land and sea creatures equally for the beauty, intelligence and connections they represent. But there's a real magic about orcas in particular that truly captures her soul when she can observe them in their natural element <3

Snow would be intrigued yet cautious if someone expressed admiration for her long white hair. On one hand, she takes pride in her unique mane and enjoys others appreciating its beauty. However, her locks are also deeply personal - a source of comfort and identity after years cultivating them.

It was no secret she proud with her signature mane, cultivated through years of growth and care.

You need to earn her trust first if you want to touch her hair. And if you already get it, she probably will let you touch and style it :)

chapter 1: late empty [rayne ames x f!reader] || wc: 767 || next chapter

applying an acceleration spell to her school-approved loafers, she runs through easton's hallowed halls, black cloak flapping in the wind. she curses headmaster wahlberg and his love for spiral staircases as her legs begin to ache.

at the top of the tower the office doors fly open before she can even knock, and four figures turn to look at her. margarette macaron from orca house stares at her curiously, their lips curving into a slow smile. abel walker and abyss razor of lang house are quite unfazed, and exchange quick glances before turning their attention back to the headmaster.

and rayne ames.

she's seen this same annoyed look on his face a billion times. when people are holding up the lunch queue. when their classmates ask stupid questions in magic history class. and especially when people are late to said class. and she hates it, every time.

still panting from the exertion, she somehow manages to pull herself together, standing at her fellow adler prefect's side. the irritation radiating off rayne is practically palpable. she chooses to ignore that, bowing deeply to the headmaster.

“my deepest apologies, headmaster. a bunch of rowdy sophomores were brawling in the magical medicine corridor, and i got held up breaking the fight up.”

wahlberg only chuckles, much to her relief. “good to see you’re already doing your duties even before the year’s officially begun, prefect. your tardiness is excused.”

“thank you, sir.”

he starts to pace back and forth behind his table, and she groans internally. wahlberg is infamous for his lengthy chats with students - though one might call them half-hour-long soliloquies, more accurately. “i’ll keep this short,” he says, and she finds she doesn’t believe him one bit.

“we have a very important matter at hand this year, hence why i appointed an extra prefect for some houses…” his voice trails off as margarette raises their hand. “yes, prefect macaron?”

“forgive my bluntness, but why not for orca?”

“hmm.” wahlberg is temporarily stunned at the unexpected boldness of the question. “i suppose no other third-year in house orca was fit to serve in this role.”

she tries to hide her smirk, and the corners of abel’s mouth seem to twitch ever so slightly. margarette seems sufficiently satisfied with his answer, nodding serenely.

“prefect ames, you would have already been informed of this, but the bureau of magic has reason to believe that the magical world will soon be in danger. perhaps we already are.” 

he says it calmly but earnestly, and to hear these words from one of the greatest mages that ever lived is more than enough to send shivers down her spine. 

“at present we are safe enough, but i require your assistance in keeping the student body from harm. after all, the youth of our world are also the future of our world. if you see any of your peers - or professors - acting strangely, report to me directly and immediately. we cannot have any student or teacher corrupted and indoctrinated by evil. is that understood?”

they all nod, and wahlberg dismisses them soon after, just as he had promised.

“the old man's gone insane,” abel states matter-of-factly, his tone clipped as always; it makes her bristle. “surely if we were in any real danger, the bureau would already have taken measures to protect the public.”

“we have our reasons,” rayne says coolly. “i wouldn't expect you to understand them.”

“bold of you to speak on the behalf of the bureau-”

“enough.” she steps in between the two of them, arms crossed. “i didn't just break up a fight between some dumb adler and lang sophomores so the two of you can mouth off outside wahlberg's office. we're in this together. i hope you understand that.”

abel stares at her, eyes almost empty. his jaw clenches ever so slightly, but she doesn't break eye contact.

finally, he lets out a small noise of annoyance.

“abyss, let's go.” he turns on his heel and starts to walk away, abyss trailing behind him. margarette takes their leave as well. 

“i could've handled it myself,” she hears rayne say coldly from behind her.

glad to see you haven't changed one bit, she wants to say, but holds her tongue. “didn't seem like it,” she challenges instead.

the divine visionary stalks past her. not even bothering to look back. “refrain from being late next time” is his only reply. “it's very unprofessional.”

she sees him disappear around the corner, and her hands clench into fists, bunching up the fabric of her robe.

oh, she really, really hates rayne ames.

Bewitching Hour - All Might?

K, so. Not sure why THIS got the plot bunnies moving. But it did, so. Onward, I guess?

I’m assuming Midnight’s big thing, with these shoots and pinups is body positivity. Especially cause they live in a world where body types can be EXTREMELY diverse. But you also want people to be comfortable, so everything is suggestions. You can pick or choose what to do. There is also minimal touch up to the pictures afterward. What you see is what you get, unless someone makes a request.

Best Jeanist, of course, only wears denim. Gang Orca’s is styled as a swimsuit issue. Mount Lady did a bunch of shots in a miniaturized set, like they use for old Godzilla movies. Kamui Woods was extremely shy about it, jokingly suggested he hide in all the photos, but Midnight thought that was hilarious. She worked that in, and his issue turned into a “Where’s Kamui Woods?” with the hero hidden among nature. The first person to find him in every photo and send it in got some sort of gift card, and a signed autograph.

But All Might’s never had an issue. And I’d argue not for lack of interest.

All Might was probably like “yeah, that sounds neat”, and agreed, but he’s always fairly busy. I see him agreeing to a shoot, then it would get interrupted by some crisis that NEEDS All Might, so he has to cancel part way through. So they reschedule, then THAT shoot gets interrupted, and the cycle repeats a few times. Heck, Bewitching Hour probably isn’t the only magazine something like that has happened for. And Midnight isn’t going to just publish what she has, there needs to be input, so she has all these pictures of All Might at various stages of his hero career, but nothing connecting them.

So, here’s my thought.

After Kamino and everything else, Midnight approaches All Might again. They have a good talk, and when the next Bewitching Hour issue comes out, it’s All Might. It’s a series of pictures that they’ve taken before, that they bought from other magazines, basically documenting his whole career, ending with a few VERY good shots of Yagi Toshinori. The final is Yagi in a version of his hero suit that actually fits his more skeletal frame, doing his iconic “I AM HERE!”.

The issue sells out within the week, and needs to be reprinted.

More Coastwings stuff!

I have more silly stuff because I love them and I may or may not be hyperfixated okay. Anyway on to the sillies! :3

Origin story

Coastwings originated from a group of Seawings merchants intermixing with an Icewing hunting village. As time progressed the village ended up gaining more and more Seawings Icewing hybrids until eventually the entire village became Coastwings. The Coastwings fled the ice kingdom in fear of prosecution due to being hybrids. Eventually they were forgotten about and isolated until after the war of Sandwing succession.

The islands that they ran away to and made their home is somewhere kind of close to the Nightwing volcano Island. But the nightwings were so focused on trying to live on the island and do whatever they were doing; that they didn't notice the Coastwings. Also the Coastwings associated the island with death (because you know volcano) so they didn't go near it.

Abilities

They're basically have the ability to pressure wash their enemies. Normally this wouldn't deal a lot of damage, but in the right spots it can be severely damaging. As for seeing in the dark this is something they inherited from their Seawing ancestry. And the creating a powerful wave with their tails is kind of a given based on the fact that a tail fluke rapidly hitting a bunch of water is going to cause a very big splash, especially because there's more surface area on the tail fluke then on a Seawing tail which does not have a tail fluke.

Colors

Like real orcas they can be shades of dark brown and have more cream colored light patches. Unlike real orcas they can also be shades of blue or purple. Their color doesn't change the pattern on them however, there will almost always be a darker main body and lighter patches. Occasionally they can be born with fully dark or fully light colors though it is very rare.

Some cool facts about their society

Instead of the king automatically being the Queen's mate. The queen chooses the king, and typically it's a male but it doesn't always have to be.

They're a matriarchal society like orcas are in the wild. The family structure is similar to wild orca pods with slight differences. These being that the mates of female Coastwings will move in to the females pod, and the grown sons are at the bottom of the pod hierarchy.

Each pod has a name in front of it that's kind of like a last name. Some examples would be Pearl pod, River pod, Lapis pod etc. The names of the pods will always relate to something water themed or shades of the colors they can be.

Coastwings are named after cold weather plant / animals, things associated with the Arctic, or things associated with the ocean / sea.

They are very social and it is very rare to see a Coastwings by themselves. They often spend most of their time with their pod, oftentimes the entire family will work the same job because they rarely separate.

I'm currently working on a map of the archipelago they live on, their history and a more or less comprehensive royal family tree. If you have any questions I would be happy to answer! And also here some bonus art that I drew in class when I came up with the concept!

Wanna spout some headcanons here.

1. All the Greek demigods can speak Greek and speak it to eachother quite frequently when in public with mortals and sometimes forget to switch back to English when speaking with mortals (same goes for the Romans and latin)

2. CHB has an 'ancient day, where they dress up in togas and ancient Greek clothing and vote on who gets to 'rule the empire's for the day and wear the appropriate clothes. They also do a trivia quiz on myths in the amphitheater and whoever wins chooses capture the flag teams.

3. I'm pretty sure I remember something about harpies or something going after the campers who go outside after hours (pls correct me if I'm wrong about that) but also the Hermes cabin made a game of who can stay out the longest and they sometimes barge into random cabins and the other campers are just uses to it by now. Stoll brothers hold the record for now.

4. Percy sometimes pranks his friends by changing the temp of their shower water by turning it cold bc the cold can't hurt them but might shock them but he always makes sure that they're okay afterward if he feels something went wrong

5. Whenever Thalia and the hunters come around, they go all out in the capture the flag game. Thalia, Percy and Annabeth always go after eachother more than they go after the flag just to mess with eachother. Like they'll have a clear opportunity to get the flag but they'll still go after eachother if they have the chance.

6. There's some kind of bank at CHB that can trade drachma for American dollars in case someone wants to go out into the world and don't have money.

7. Since it's a strawberry farm to mortals, some would hear about it and then try to pick some strawberries but Chiron has to tell them that they can't do that and sends the very disappointed mortals on their way. This happens at least once a year.

8. Hephaestus cabin made a special chariot that acts as a car but gets pulled around by horses or pegasi and so some demi-gods can learn to drive on the chariot course and they sometimes set up obstacles like Canada's worst driver style

9. Percy likes to take the new campers swimming and he "drowns" and then the new kid goes to someone telling them that percy drowned but everyone just doesn't care and is slightly confused by what they're saying

10. If percy had a job, he'd work at an aquarium and defend that animals like "I don't think he likes the sardines you're feeding him." And he'd tell the fish to troll the trainers and people and fail shows for laughs

11. (Thus is a joke one) percy is the reason the orcas are attacking boats. Because people over fish the waters and fish are friends, not food

14) Who's a character your OC cannot stand! It's on sight when they see them!

Muzu is obvious because he's normally been unfriendly to outsiders. And I could definitely see him being especially suspicious of the zorca because he would believe all the stereotypes and horror stories about them.

Another idea I got when playing the games is I could see Sardon not getting along with the treasure hunting brothers, Domidak and Prissen. They're standoffish when it comes to hunting treasure and anyone who they perceive as a "rival" in their own excursions. Sardon has wandered inland several times before, and being able to reach places or get past obstacles they can't would bother them a lot.

Sardon couldn't physically hurt them, but he wouldn't be against giving them a good scare. He wouldn't be allowed to try that on Muzu though because it would only make the situation worse for his people.

13) Does your OC have a rival? How did it start?

OKAY this is really silly. In another story, I shipped Ifora with Sidon and one idea was for them to be rivals but like not in that "we dislike each other but secretly like each other" way. So Ifora is a very outgoing, upbeat person and when she meets him it's like "oh there's someone who is so excited about life!" Then it looks like she's always trying to outdo him when it comes to acts of kindness, but in reality she's using him as a role model but at the same time she thinks that she's not helping out enough.

And onlookers are like "are they trying to have a contest on who can do better?" and no, they're not. They're just really enthusiastic.

27) What's their spirit tamagotchi? Or an animal you associate them with?

I don't know if I'm doing this right but I spent a bit researching into all the Tamagotchi XD the one that I feel resonates with Kaska is Kaitchi

Shy, and bit of a romantic who likes to write songs and poems, and carries a pearl within that means good luck! Orca are considered to be good fortune too, and since white ones are rare then even more so if you see one!

2) Who's your OCs best friend? How did they become best friends?

This one was difficult because Cironus is a genuinely nice person, and there's two options for someone like him; you love him or hate him!

For simplicity's sake I'm choosing three canon characters to talk about. That would be Link, Yunobo and Penn!

Cironus gets to help Link on his adventures in the events of TotK and learns how to work with him, and offer support through his music. They form a positive rapport, but Link also becomes something of a "bad influence" when it comes to reckless stunts. Since Cironus is far from from his family's watchful/judging eyes, he is all to eager to join in!

Yunobo and Cironus become friends in the silliest of ways. Cironus was fascinated by the goron's ability to eat/taste rock so he was constantly offering Yunobo rocks to taste. The young goron didn't know if this was a zora custom so he obliged and began telling Cironus about the properties of various rocks "this one is salty, this has a kick to it, this one has a lemony aftertaste"

Cironus shared with him that fish had similar properties "Chillfin have a bite, Sizzlefin are spicy, Voltfin have a zest to them!"

They tried to swap food at one point. It didn't go well for them.

Penn is someone Cironus liked instantly. He admires Penn's go-get-em attitude, and has always been fascinated by the Rito's ability to fly. There's something infectious about Penn's eagerness to solve a story which usually has Cironus pleading with Link that they have to help out immediately.

Elizabeth Johnson and her husband hit the vacation circuit hard over the past couple of years.

They went boating in Florida, hiking in the Swiss Alps, snorkeling in Hawaii, waterfall exploring in Oregon, and leaf peeping in Canada. They saw moose and orcas in Alaska, manatees in the Dominican Republic, and sheep in the Irish countryside.

"We also volunteer at a local food bank each month, go to comedy shows at Mall of America, routinely go to concerts," she said.

Neither Johnson nor her husband grew up wealthy, and the couple never expected to have such an indulgent lifestyle. Johnson's husband, in particular, faced "a very bleak outlook" for his career when he graduated from college in 2008 at the height of the Great Recession.

But now, 16 years later, the 30-something couple make a generous joint income of just under $300,000. That income, their hard work, and a dash of savvy investing are largely responsible for the lifestyle they lead — but there's another big factor. The Johnsons are DINKS, a dual-income couple with no kids.

The costs of rearing a child have skyrocketed in recent years, especially as parents get less help from their families and communities. Raising a kid could cost parents upward of $26,000 this year. Being a DINK has always been a way to save money, but as the stigma around the choice to be child-free has faded, more and more Americans see being a DINK as the key to a new American dream of financial stability, freedom of choice, and a comfortable retirement. DINKs are proudly emerging as an aspirational class for young people — and they're ready to live it up.

Lifestyles of the DINKs and the child-free

Johnson's Tinder profile set her on her path to DINKhood. In early adulthood, she never felt the desire to have children but wanted to keep an open mind. As the years went on, even as she saw her peers having kids, she said her "beliefs just never changed and completely solidified." So when she set up her dating profile, Johnson included in her bio that she didn't want to have kids of her own.

"I just wanted to weed out the ones I wouldn't be compatible with," she said. It worked. Johnson recalled that on their second or third date, she and her now-husband discussed the topic to make sure they were on the same page. The pair married in 2022, and Johnson said their decision to live as DINKs had been enriching.

"It makes my life more meaningful," the occupational therapist said of her choice to be child-free. "I feel like I can give more to my patients at work. I have more time to see my loved ones and family."

Beyond the emotional value Johnson ascribes to her DINK status, there are the dollars-and-cents benefits to the lifestyle. Her husband, who works in banking, is "a very big spreadsheet guy," Johnson said, and the couple track their finances "religiously." Part of that maniacal focus is tracking their net worth. The latest tally? About $1.1 million, a combination of the equity they've been able to accumulate in their new-build, suburban Minneapolis townhome and their retirement accounts.

It makes my life more meaningful. I feel like I can give more to my patients at work. I have more time to see my loved ones and family.

As an occupational therapist who works with older people, Johnson said, she sees "one of the biggest downsides to being a DINK is not having your children there to support you and help you age in place as you get older." So in addition to enjoying travel now, it's important for the couple to have "the financial resources in place to support safe living when we're old," she said.

For many adults, having children holds a massive amount of intrinsic value, but there's no denying that those who choose to forgo parenthood gain a serious financial edge. In fact, the net-worth data from the Federal Reserve's most recent Survey of Consumer Finances showed there's never been a better time to be a DINK. Child-free couples' median net worth of $399,000 in 2022 was the highest of all types of family structures studied by the survey and almost $150,000 more than couples with kids. The median net worth of DINKs was also more than $100,000 higher than it was in 2019, and the gap between child-free couples and couples with kids has only widened as prices on items and services parents need most, such as childcare and food, have spiked.

Amy Blackstone, the author of the 2019 book "Childfree by Choice," said that the financial gap between DINKs and couples with kids wasn't solely because of the choice about children. In many cases, it's also a bit of selection bias.

"It's the people who already have higher incomes, higher education, and are generally more privileged who opt out of parenthood," she said.

Still, DINKs like the Johnsons demonstrate that as the American dream of homeownership and putting kids through college gets further out of reach, forgoing children is one way to achieve the upward economic mobility that many parents find more difficult to reach. Child-free couples have more free cash flow that can be invested in real estate or stocks. And while the pandemic's fiscal stimulus left pretty much everyone with more cash, DINKs seemed to emerge victorious in the battle to grow wealth. After a few years of saving, the Johnsons are free of student debt and said they're in a financial position to start planning for an early retirement in their 50s.

"I am from a middle-class family, and my husband from a lower-class upbringing," Johnson said. "He experienced paycheck-to-paycheck living, started his first job at age 11 delivering newspapers. We feel very fortunate for our current economic stability."

Of course, not all DINKs are raking in six-figure incomes and investing in real estate. Alex Killingsworth is a 25-year-old entrepreneur building a content-writing business, and his wife is a full-time graduate student. She makes $14,000 a year as a teaching assistant, while his business earned them $84,000 in 2023. Not having kids has allowed them to invest in his startup and her higher education, both of which they believe will pay off.

"I'm 'investing' in the work I'm doing," Killingsworth said. "Likewise for my wife, almost all of her income is going into research, so our actual take-home pay is quite a bit lower."

If they had kids, paying the bills could be tougher for them. Instead, they're buying wine and whiskey, maxing out a retirement account, and taking advantage of the freedom to spend Thanksgiving in Alaska, visit family in Texas, or go to Broadway shows in New York.

"I don't know if we have any hacks or tricks here, but I have been told all of the extra income has a tendency to dry up when you have kids," Killingsworth said. "I don't know if that's true, but it's better to overprepare than under, right?"

Growing acceptance

The financial upsides of being a DINK used to come with a cost: In 1974, a substitute teacher named Marcia Drut-Davis was fired from her job and received death threats after discussing her choice to be child-free on"60 Minutes."When another school asked her to give a speech on her decision, angry parents carrying signs calling her "the devil's sister" crowded the entrance, and the teacher who provided closing remarks after the speech denounced her in front of the auditorium.

In her 2013 book, "Confessions of a Childfree Woman," Drut-Davis recalls the teacher saying: "How will you feel when you're old and alone with no one to take care of you?How will you feel without a grandchild to give you chocolate kisses? You're a sad excuse for a woman."

For decades, the social stigma around choosing not to have children has been substantial, but Blackstone said that she'd noticed a major shift in acceptance since she began research for her book in 2008.

"I would say that it's millennials and Gen Z who have really done the heavy lifting in terms of bringing this conversation out into the open," she said.

That's not to say Gen X didn't contribute to the conversation — Blackstone is a child-free Xer — but she said the younger generations' experiences with the 2008 financial crisis, accelerated climate crisis, and increasingly divisive politics made the choice to forgo kids more acceptable to a wider group.

One 2022 Nature paper from the researchers Zachary P. Neal and Jennifer Watling Neal found that nearly half the adults they studied were parents and 22% were child-free by choice. The rest were ambivalent, undecided, unable to have kids, or planning to have them. In the 2020 US census, 87 million Americans were between the ages of 20 and 46. If you apply the findings from the Neals' study, that means roughly 19 million millennial and Gen Z adults of childbearing age were child-free by choice. That same research, which polled 1,500 Michigan adults, found that while parents felt warmer toward fellow parents, "both parents and child-free people feel about the same toward child-free people." The report concluded: "Although parents really like other parents, they don't dislike child-free people."

Sentiment actually seems to be shifting in the opposite direction: In a summer 2022 Harris Poll of 1,054 American adults, 20% of all adults — and 27% of millennials — agreed "that people should stop having children because of the harm it causes," specifically the harm to the environment, animals, and even other people. Similarly, about one-third of all adults — and over 40% of millennials — said that they agreed "people should stop having children because their children's quality of life will be poor."

And then there's social media and our identity-obsessed culture. Child-free people now have more and more platforms to connect with each other and flaunt their no-kids lifestyles of extensive travel, impeccable homes, and spoiled pets. The communities devoted to a child-free lifestyle are booming: The subreddit r/childfree, focused on "topics and links of interest to childfree individuals," boasts 1.5 million members. TikTok videos about DINKs rack up millions of views and hundreds of thousands of likes. DINKs, GINKs, "rich aunties," and DINKWADs — DINKs with a dog — have become aspirational identities for younger generations.

We hang out with other people's kids every once in a while, but then we happily just give them back to their parents.

Stigma against DINKS certainly remains — just look at the comments of "selfish" and "missing out" on child-free TikTok videos. But they're overshadowed by comments of support. As Blackstone, who wrote the 2021 book on the topic, said, what happened to Drut-Davis wouldn't happen today.

"I've gotten the random email telling me that I'm miserable and going to die alone or that I'm right, I shouldn't have kids anyway," she said. "But nothing like what Marcia got in the 1970s."

With the rise in childcare costs, education, and other parenting expenses that have outpaced inflation, it's hard to deny that a two-track economy has emerged. There are the DINKs who can seize the American dream and the parents who are struggling to stay afloat in a country without guaranteed paid leave or affordable childcare. It's no wonder that so many people are suddenly interested in becoming a DINK.

Johnson said that her DINK lifestyle kept her plenty busy. She invests time in her hobby of landscape photography, and though she's questioned whether it's a selfish choice, she overall feels more "well rounded and healthier" than she would if she had kids, she said.

"We hang out with other people's kids every once in a while," she said, "but then we happily just give them back to their parents."

Ranking the Magic Knight Captains

I had fun doing my rankings for the Black Bulls and Black Clover OPs and wanted to another one. I haven’t talked much about the captains so I figured this would be a good way to do that. Obviously, these are all personal opinions. Also, there are spoilers for the manga.

11. Gueldre Poizot

Someone’s got to be at the bottom and it’s obviously this guy.

Betrays the kingdom and all the Captains already didn’t like him and make fun of him so yeah. He deserves it.

Him running around with Revchi during the Elven Invasion was kind of funny though.

10. Kaiser Granvorka

Not bad but the least interesting of the captains.

He doesn’t get a lot to do but I respect him and his mustache.

Purple Orcas have nothing going for them tbh.

9. Nozel Silva

His abilities are very impressive. Mercury Magic is a cool idea.

He was the least mean of his siblings to Noelle but that’s not saying much. I get you can’t talk about the devil that killed your mother but, like, don’t let your sister believe she was the one who killed her.

It is a little sad because it seemed like he was the closest to their mom and he’s the oldest so he probably remembers her the most.

He does grow and I respect that.

8. Fuegoleon Vermillion

I like his relationship with his siblings, but he’s also the least interesting of the three to me.

I think if he hadn’t gotten Salamander, then he would have been even less interesting.

His rationality is appreciated in contrast to a lot of other characters.

I also like when he motivates Asta and Noelle when the Eye of the Midnight Sun invades the capital.

7. William Vangeance

Okay, I was pretty mad at him for a long time after the Elven Invasion. I suspected him from the beginning and was right.

He doesn’t really take action like when he just lets Patry and Julius fight it out instead of choosing one of them and I was very pissed.

Afterwards, he does try to amend his actions and when he healed his squad after the Spade Kingdom attack on the Golden Dawn base, I forgave him.

After all that, it puts him a little above neutral though.

His magic’s pretty cool too. I like the big scale of it.

6. Jack the Ripper

Why do people rag on the Black Bulls so much when the Green Praying Mantises exist? Jack is just as irresponsible as Yami and definitely weirder.

Have you seen the way this man dresses? In general, have you seen this man?

Also, his squad is one of the least developed. We have Sekke and En and that’s it. Sekke is mostly a joke and En is only relevant for a teeny bit (I respect him though).

Back to Jack, I find him very entertaining and his magic is very interesting. He’s absolutely crazy but I get a kick out of it.

Sad when he died. He did not deserve that but went out in style

5. Charlotte Roselei

At first she doesn’t do much but then she’s mainly reduced to her crush on Yami. I think it’s funny and ship them but I feel like she doesn’t get a lot else.

I do like that part of her character is that she needs to learn to ask for help sometimes and rely on others.

Her curse and magic are very cool though. Her pulling out the red and blue roses during the Spade Kingdom Invasion is glorious.

She’s one of the only captains who interacts a lot with her squad too.

4. Mereoleona Vermillion

What a badass.

She has powerful magic but a lot of her fighting style is physical. You have to be bold to fight against magic users and choose to just punch things that come your way.

She was supposed to be the Captain of the Crimson Lion Kings and instead dipped to go live in the wilderness.

3. Dorothy Unsworth

For how little screen time she gets, I love her so much.

All the other Captains are so serious and she’s so bubbly.

Her magic is super cool and fits her very well. Pretty overpowered too.

I like that when she manifests people in her dream world, it's a version based on how she views them (Yami and Nozel).

I actually thought we weren’t going to see her in action because she was always asleep. I guess that was the result of having an elf inside you because after that she’s awake most of the time.

2. Yami Sukehiro

He’s the Captain that gets the best connection to his squad so I like that.

Members of the Black Bulls keep coming out of the woodlocks because this man keeps inviting random people to join.

Despite seeming irresponsible, he genuinely cares about his squad and pushes them to do their best. He also pushes himself to do his best.

The fact that he was a foreigner so his squad is made up of people who are outcasts like him and together they’re all not alone anymore :’)

I love him very much.

I don’t know why his hair glows but I’m here for it.

His magic is very unique and it’s so fun to watch.

Youngest magic captain (before Yuno). I honestly don't know how.

I didn’t think we’d get backstory for him but we did and his relationship with Walter is amazing.

He’s doing his best and I love him for that.

hii it's unorcadox ^_^ how does your editing process work!!! like how do you choose what images to use, how to combine them, how to get the right "feel" etc. 👀 very curious abt ur answer

Damn, great question! Also, love your edits, Orca! (also a bit jelous abt your productivity, wish i had so many great ideas) So i present to you: a wall of text! (cw really long!)

So, many people see a great base image and then immideately get an idea of what they wanna do w/ it. I'm not like that, i ususally have an idea of an edit in mind, and then search for sometimes a few hours for a base image that may work. I have a whole tutorial-worthy process of how i always find what i need, but i digress… Most of the times, tho, i get something better than what i had in mind. I love this process, cause it's like tresure hunting for me. (ofc it's not always like that, just most of the time. Since i have a giant collection of base images i may sometimes use them). I choose my images based on the mood i wanna portray. It's always supposed to be looking kinda dreamlike and unreal, but it can also be creepy, dark, bright, etc.

When editing my favourite style of edits - fake dreamlike places - I try to make them look as real as possible, regarding color, lighting, etc, while still making them look blatantly fake regarding the composition, subject matter, etc. Ofc i don't try to perfect my lighting, since it can take away the feeling i strive for, so it's kinda based on my own feelings idk. I get really inspired by the surrealists' painting. Artists like Brent Wong, for example. Liminal spaces are already weird, so why not make them even weirder, by making the geometry non-Euclidean and subject matter impossible in the real world. Also unlike surrealist painters, i have a luxiry of making the scene like "more real" by combining actual photos in photoshop. Ofc people have been making surreal art w/ 3d programs forever now, but it still doesn't give off the same feeling real picture does, yk.

Uhh... what was i talking about... Ah, yes! I firstly make a collage, that i have in mind by this point, and sometimes it just... doesn't work out! i had discarded so many great ideas, cause they weren't turning out good. But if it works, i add shadows and highlights. I look at real liminal space photos and try to really analyze them. Like, what makes them work? the color, the quality, the blurriness? Then i add effects that works to my edit. Every edit needs it's own level of compression, sharpness, blurriness... You just gotta feel it.

Really important step. I leave my edit for a few hours, so i forget how it looks, and then return later. All the imperfections, things that don't work, etc pop out immediately. I read somewhere that the process of creating and the process of analyzing are two completely different things, and i couldn't agree more. It's annoying when you have a finished edit, and you really wanna show it to the world, but you have to wait... But it's better, than being embarrassed later that you posted something unfinished and you can't fix it now.

Ofc i make text edits as well, but they basically serve the same purpose and not that interesting to describe, cause process is the same just with a few steps skipped.

There wasn't such question, but i still wanna talk about it, cause it kinda answers "how do you get the right feel". Well, why do i make edits? Well, the world sucks ass (i don't agree w/ this statement for the most part, like friends are great, nature is buitifull, but then there are parts that just... yk...) and for me weirdcore is a sort of an escapism. I can't traverse dreamworlds mindlessly, alone or come across magical events in real world, sadly. But I can make them however i would like them to look and feel, with my characters (like deer), and my own thoughts about them, that no one except me knows. It's kinda like i actually've been there, and i took a picture. Or hell, maybe i've never been here myself, but those deer were, or invisible creatures, that are not in the shot. And i know them personally, cause i made them, they are a part of myself! And it really helps, and i'm so glad these pictures resonate with so many more people here too! I had been making these pictures without realising why for a year. I had some thoughts and heard dozens of opinins of other pople, but i hadn't had a full picture. And then a video by SuperEyePatchWolf about liminal spaces comes out, and i get it now, it was really eye opening, for me at least. It explains really well why we love unreality so much.
