What parts of their childhood trigger them?

Pretty much all of it! Kai grew up being groomed for leadership within the legions, every single step of her upbringing leaned to that and molded her into the perfect unfeeling, cold, calculating soldier who could "evaluate and make the hard calls quickly". Even now that her bounty's been removed, she finds that she can't go back to the citadel where she was raised without starting to slip back into that old mindset which scares her. She also can't visit many of the locations in Ascalon that she and her warband patrolled. She just...avoids her old home entirely at this point. Better to make new memories.

7. What emotions or situations do they try to avoid? Why?

She's starting to learn that getting into fights all the time is a bad way to handle things. And talking it out can lead to a much faster resolution. She leans heavily on her team and Caithe for this, all of them knowing the signs from Kai when she's about to escalate things past the point of no return. Kai also avoids entirely being alone in a room with any legion charr or she's gonna end up biting someone's head off.

13. What is their relationship with their family like?

Nonexistent! Her parents wrote her off as dead the moment she became a gladium with a bounty on her life. She doesn't see this as any loss herself, she never knew them past monthly evaluations to oversee her progress.

9. What are their insecurities?

He's very aware of his physical limitations and what that means for him as Commander, upholding an image that others put on him while also minding his bad physical days. While he knows he's good enough and capable enough for the job, he's very aware of how others might view his mobility aids.

10. What are their emotional triggers?

That's a hard one I haven't thought about before! His emotional triggers would be dismissal, infantilization, and general snobbery. Experiencing any of these will send him right into his own spiral of snarkiness and a stubborn streak.

4. How do they punish themselves when they make mistakes?

Down in Rata Solum, Alvvae's job basically facilitated a need for perfection. Making sure tunnels were structurally sound and ready for buildings meant ensuring no chance of cave-ins or wall breaches, any of which could result in lives ending. Her default reaction to any mistakes is to immediately assess what went wrong and how to ensure a 0% chance of repeats. Emotions turn off and calculations turn on, she needs to stay strong when lives are on the line!

Oh she's fun!! One of my few media-inspired ocs!

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

Her appearance came first, she was inspired by my love of Deet from The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance! So visually, I pulled a lot from the little musty green gelfling to visually make Alvvae. This also heavily inspired her backstory of coming to the surface from a subterranean city that's collapsing to seek help to save it lol

2. Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?

Nope, she came wholecloth out into the world on her own with her backstory and everything, connecting her to a specific plot and characters came months later.

3. How did you choose their name?

I started off with the word Algae then made it more "asuran" for the fun of it

4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

The history of asura where they were subterranean until Primordus drove them to the surface from their homes was an element I leaned fully into. Her city survived that initial disaster so continued to live and evolve subterraneously until his second emergence during lws3.

5. Is there any significance behind their hair color?

Whiteish/blond like Deet :3

6. Is there any significance behind their eye color?

Similar to Deet :3

7. Is there any significance behind their height?

SMOL I just wanted her to be miniscule, her actual height is what she is with the miniature tonic but she's also min height as a start.

8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?

The disconnect between his eagerness and earnestness, and how people perceive that. I get just as curious and questioning as him, but it's hard to make that come off as...not needling for weak points or factors to contest sometimes. We both really are just earnestly curious

9. Are they based off of you, in some way?

Not in the slightest! Despite small similarities, we aren't much like each other and she's one of my ocs that I don't relate myself to at all.

For the friend match game, I'm gonna hand you Alvvae! The absolutely tiny subterranean asura who is intrigued by the surface she's ended up on as she sought help for her city. Outside of her main goal, she loves exploring the intricacies and architecture of these new places! Staying inside during the day is kinder on her skin, away from the sun, and she loves simply getting into places she's not necessarily supposed to be or talking in-depth with surface dwellers. Picking their brains for information on technology up top!

I intially wanted to go with the Akis because they can just befriend anyone, but there probably would be some size related issues. They would definitel be gentle and careful not to overlook her but their house is built to accommodate 11"6' Lorna, which is a far bit away from tiny Alvvae. Their "asura friendly chairs" are probably still impractical. Also I don't know how she would like Other Aki's habit of calling every male friend his boyfriend.

Valyrion would probaly work. He wouldn't have much new imformation to teach her, but he would absolutely be able to match her curiosity. Also he is a big architecture nerd so that would fit.

Or Elirea, who has spent a lot of time reading scientific literature and loves to climb around places no one is intended or expected to climb around. She definitely has the strength to carry Alvvae with her!
