DAII x DATV — Dreamers of Tevinter
Tumblr media
Anyone remembers Feynriel from Dragon Age II?👀 What if after almost two decades, he became a strong Somniari in Tevinter? Here he is, as a Shadow Dragon, with my two OCs: Aisling the blind Somniari (who can only see in the Fade), & his shapeshifter wife (always keeping an eye on him to guide him), Lusacan🥹
"The Fade feels different now. I see the stitches, the seams holding it together. I feel I could wake at any moment. I see why the Chantry fears us. I've heard tales of magisters who stalked their enemies and used their own dreams to destroy them. You're right. I must master it, find someone to study under. The Dalish don't have what I need. Perhaps Tevinter. If these powers can be trained, it would be there." — Feynriel, Dragon Age II [Source]
More story details: • Aisling Vatia Cassius is 88 by Dragon Age The Veilguard. An old, calm, and experienced Somniari who uses his power as a Fortune Teller in The Eyes of Nocen (eastern Tevinter, across the Nocen Sea from Minrathous). Helping fellow altus and magisters who want to reform the Magisterium (formerly the Lucerni, now Shadow Dragons) by spreading those ideals outside of Minrathous. • His wife, called Lusacan by her former master, was an elven slave used for blood rituals since she was a kid (parts of why she is so short for an elf). [She kept the name as a token of pride, since it's the name of one of the Tevinter Gods. People call her Granny Lusa though.] She managed to escape one day by turning into a rat and going out of her cage. She was rapidly found on the "market" again, and the Cassius family took her in to look after Aisling, since he was blind and needed assistance, when he wasn't wandering in the Fade. They fell in love when they were still young, despite the disapproval of many magisters for this union. Aisling can "see" only in the Fade, while being completely blind outside of it. When many turned down Feynriel when he asked for help controlling his powers, he saw a strength and potential in the young man, and took his training personally. Feynriel is almost like a grandson to him, now.
More art of Aisling & Lusacan:

Though I’m only a handful of hours into Metaphor Refantazio, I’m compelled to express how wild it is that the game thus far has been keenly keyed in on the pulse of the current political climate (primarily from my perspective as a US citizen)
Vague Spoilers for the game’s premise & foundational worldbuilding elements established early in the first ~5-7 hours…
In Metaphor, the primary antagonist is a haughty elitist with zero regard for others who commits a multitude of reprehensible & violent crimes to gain a kingship & thus access to immense (unchecked) power. He’s protected by a private militarized force which, inbetween bouts of infighting & fracturing, expressly uses force to oppress citizens & aid in the explicit slaughter of citizens to sow fear and desperation in the populace & cut down dissenters. And yet despite all of that vile behavior & a literal admission of aiming to gain power by killing the former king, the antagonist still appeals to a majority of the populace leveraging their fears & zealous worship to become the frontrunner for earning the crown via mystical election.
Those who support him either: believe there is no better alternative, buy into the antagonist’s philosophy that “might makes right” and/or outright salivate over his blatant lack of morals or compassion as well as his rhetoric of wielding iron-fisted violence to crush any who might even have a chance of opposing his ideals or actions.
All of this occurs within a societal climate thick with hate, bigotry & discrimination (a lot of which is explicitly born from & reinforced by the narrow-minded tenets of the country’s major religion), where those who are considered “lesser” due to race are victims of poverty, exploitation, social stigmatization, limited or non-existent access to medical care, verbal & physical abuse by those from races who consider themselves to be fundamentally (& even divinely) “superior”, and farcical justice where one’s race could increase the likelihood of not only being unjustly arrested but also outright executed (privately & publicly) with zero avenues for proving their innocence beforehand.
On reflection, I’m certain that 8-10 years ago, many would have considered these aspects of Metaphor’s story & setting to be: “unsubtle”, “exaggerated”, “heavy-handed” or “over the top” etc. with little relationship to the realities of our contemporary society. Yet now the major differing factors seem to only be that, unlike real life, the world of Metaphor simply happens to have magic & monsters.

Good day/evening and welcome to my Persona X Metaphor: What Archetypes the Persona 3-5 party members have if they were Metaphor characters? If the title was made obvious, it’s my list on what Archetypes the party members of each of the modern Persona party members would have if they were Metaphor characters. Let’s get some ground rules out of the way:
1. this is the most important thing I need to address, this is my opinion. If you feel differently about what which Archetypes fit the characters better, then that’s entirely on you as it is on me. 2. I will explicitly talk about the party members (excluding the Navigators, of course), so no Social Link characters, or Igor and the like. 3. When I match the Archetypes with these characters, I take their weapon types, personalities, stats and gameplay into consideration. 4. If there are any Archetypes that could fit into the characters as well, I will mention them.
So with all that being said: we start with the Persona 3 cast. Recency bias aside, I think the Persona 3 characters matches with the Archetypes in Metaphor really well.
And one last thing: spoilers for both Persona 3 (Reload) and Metaphor: ReFantazio Will more than likely be abound.
Tumblr media
As the main character of the game, we start with Makoto Yuki/Minato Arisato. Whatever you wish to call our door to be, we obviously take these aspects of him into account: Makoto is the main protagonist of Persona 3 as much as Will is to Metaphor. Both characters canonically use 1 handed swords. Both Makoto and Will can use any available Persona or Archetypes save for the exclusive ones to the party. And finally, both of their stats are not set in stone like their allies: On the one hand, Makoto’s stats depends on the Persona he is equipped with. On the other hand. Will’s stats depends on your starting dialogue options with Klinger and you can choose one extra stat he gains upon leveling up.
So it makes sense that Makoto would start off with the Seeker Archetype, the Archetype Will starts with. It fits perfectly because they both use the same weapon, the Seeker Archetype and Orpheus in Persona 3 Reload have a magic attack, a physical attack and a single target healing spell in their level up repertoire. Also, Will himself takes after Makoto Yuki somewhat in terms of design.
Tumblr media
Junpei, much like Strohl would later be in concept, is the bromatic foil character to Makoto. Junpei and Strohl both use Greatswords in battle. Which is the weapon type for the Warrior Archetype. Junpei and Strohl are both physically oriented. And both also have a boost in Critical Hit rates as part of their passive skills when you bond with them.
The Warrior Archetype linages places emphasis on the sword. So it seems natural that Junpei has the Warrior Archetype as his starting line up. The Royal Warrior Archetype Strohl gets near the end of the game has Vorpal Blade and Brave Blade in the moveset, which was Junpei will get himself at the end of his journey.
Tumblr media
Yukari is going to be difficult to pinpoint because Yukari serves as the main healer for the party, so it only feels right to give Yukari the Healer Archetype. Well the weapon she uses are a bow and arrow, which is not the weapon type the Healer Archetype uses (Healer Archetypes use a Mace). And while this does fall in line with the Gunner Archetype, the weapon for the linage is less like a bow and arrow and more like a Crossbow gun (something that Zen from Persona Q uses). It’s quite the conundrum.
But I personally decided to stick with my guns and still with the Healer Archetype for Yukari. Why? Because if your job is to heal, then that’s more important than using a bow, especially when you might miss anyway (lol). And besides, as Fuuka states herself, the Healer Archetype fits with Yukari’s “kindness,” not that she herself would agree with that flat out.
Tumblr media
Akihiko Sanada is self explanatory in terms of what Archetype he would have: The Brawler Archetype linage. It helps that one of the Synthesis Skills tied to one of the Archetypes is an electric based attack. So Akihiko, the literal brawler of the team couldn’t have asked for a more befitting Archetype linage.
Tumblr media
I have a very interesting take on what starting Archetype linage Mitsuru Kirijo would have. Hot take, but I would give her the Commander linage. One of my main reasons for this is her weapon the Rapier. In the Persona Q games, her Rapier does Pierce damage. The weapon the Commander linage uses also does Pierce damage. So although one could classify Mitsuru’s weapon as another one handed sword with a different name like in original Persona 3, I actually like how the Rapier is handled in those game as it makes Mitsuru’s weapon more unique to her.
As for other reasons for why I would give Mitsuru this linage, the General adept Archetype uses Ice Skills, not unlike Mitsuru. Mitsuru is a Magic specialist, Commander (again) has magic skills. And most importantly, character wise, Mitsuru is the one running the S.E.E.S. operations to begin with and is one of the older members of the team. If anyone can use this Archetype in a way that befits their character, the Commander Archetype linage is perfect for Mitsuru IMO.
Tumblr media
Aigis is also somewhat self explanatory, I would give her the Gunner Archetype. I mean, you can’t entirely disagree… right? In all seriousness, let’s look at Persona Q again as another example for why I have chosen this Archetype linage for her, however obvious it is. In the Persona Q games, Aigis is one of few characters that the game suggests to be in the back row. The Gunner Archetype is exclusively required to be in the backseat in order to use its skills. Speaking of which, all of them (prior to Dragoon) is exclusive to piercing skills. Piercing skills are Aigis’s MO as far as her skills from her base Persona is concerned.
Tumblr media
Koromaru is with the Thief Archetype. Usage of dark skills, check. Him and Heismay are some of the fastest members of their teams (check). Both Koromaru being the sole animal of the team, with Heismay having the most animalistic traits of the races in Metaphor, check. It’s also worth noting that Koromaru snatches the remote control Ikutsuki was using to control Aigis, so that counts for something.
Though it should be worth noting that Koromaru uses Knives, something which the Faker Archetype linage uses. But the Thief Archetype uses Katana like weapons. But they are small for the most part to fit Heismay’s stature. So they can still function well for Koromaru and how he fights with weapons.
Tumblr media
Ken Amada uses the Knight Archetype weapon type: a Lance. And yet Ken uses Light primarily and is a secondary healer like Yukari. I already gave the Healer Archetype to Yukari because it fits with her not wanting someone else close to her to die. But what about Ken? Ken, prior to October 4th, has wanted solely to avenge the death of his mother; by killing Shinjiro Aragaki. Although Ken had healing skills, Ken skills were exclusively instant death skills because she wished to kill his mother’s (accidental) murderer.
This is something that canonically would disgust Hulkenburg. During the early stages of the game after Grius’ death at Louis’ hands, when Strohl explains to Hulkenburg on why Grius (Alces, in her case) was trying to kill Louis (but hiding that the Prince is alive). Hulkenburg misinterpreted this act as a quest for vengeance and would never believed that Alces would succumb to “anger and malice.” Ultimately, Hulkenburg learns the truth about the Prince’s survival (after nearly getting skewered by the reanimated Alces) and awakens to her Archetype.
Ken, after the whole ordeal with Shinjiro, strives to make an effort to protect his friends going forward after learning how damning the path of revenge is to one’s self and the people around them. So that’s why I decided to let Ken have the Knight Archetype.
Tumblr media
And last, but certainly not least, we end this post on a high note with Shinjiro Aragaki. With the obvious fact that he uses an Axe. And the fact that he is a bruiser with a heart of gold, Shinjiro’s starter Archetype would undoubtedly be the same as Basilio: the Berserker Linage. It’s fitting because both Shinjiro and Basilio use axes, can cook well, and are tied with the themes of death and regret. Basilio became a permanent last party member after the death of his older brother Fidelio (who incidentally has the Japanese voice actress as Ken: Megumi Ogata). Shinjiro is a temporary party that dies, but would spark the character developments of the remaining team members.
And that is the Persona 3 party’s potential starting Archetypes.

🗡 : altus concept + lore guide !! ( by rain ft. kaz )
visual concept : the entire region is seemingly stuck in the 19th century architecture wise, france, and, in a lot of ways, it mirrors real life france of that time. stained glass windows, churches running down streets, cobbled walkways fit for horse and carriage, markets and dimly lit bakeries attached to living apartments on top floors, along with there being no modern vehicles. altus is under nightfall at all times, specifically under a blood moon, painting the sky under a constant dark, red hue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
portal : notre dame d’amiens, somme, hauts de france. while not exactly hidden from the human population, it is near impossible to access altus from this portal unless one is a vampire themselves. vampires will access this portal with their portal manipulation, usually within one of the empty doorways of the building.
ruling house : currently under astérisque rule, with the crimson moon clan acting as a decoy, leading figure of the state.
heir : non applicable.
sigil : an illustration of the asterisque rose.
motto : when moonlight rises, when daylight falls.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the city of altus : altus is a realm nestled between the dense forest lands of asterres and the mountainous range of (name here). the main hub of the city resembles that of paris in the 19th century. the capital of altus, noirère, is based on what is known in the human realm as the seine. it's first inhabitants gave it this named based on the mirror image of the seine itself, calling it the region of the black river (rivière noire), thus birthing the name noirére; an amalgamation of the two french words. although the first inhabitants of altus were indeed french, it has since become a haven for all vampires, leading to it's "globalisation". the main inhabitants of the city of noirére belong to the crimson moon clan, save for those of the asterisque clan sitting at the vampire council's leading seats. those of the asterisque clan are generally not welcome at the city of noirére, and are expected to live within asterres in a secluded community. although humanoid in appearance, the people of altus are vampires through and through, with some showing their true appearance under certain circumstances. whilst those of the crimson moon clan are generally off putting in appearance, those of the asterisque clan are uncanny, scary. although ran by a government, the region of altus is heavily ingrained with religion and faith of the moon.
locations : the vampire council's headquarters : conseil des vampyr (notre-dame de paris), an array of churches littered among streets, the citadel (for those who devote their lives to the old teachings of altus, based on the citadel, game of thrones), large, open markets, many, many theater houses, musée de nous (an extremely large exhibition space for the arts, resembling the once standing crystal palace, london) and asterres.
jobs : sittings on the vampire council (including various titles), noblemen, priests, bards, artists, musicians, stage actors, opera singers, market place merchants, doctors (currently in high demand!!) the common folk.
mythology : faith in the moon, and the moon alone.
noirére, a society : although noirére remains in constant nightfall, flora and fauna grow much like on earth, if not more. astérisque flowers are a plant that is native to altus, and appears as the nations national symbol, blue in color, emitting a light hue.
society within noirére can be described as something rather old fashioned. despite vampires being able to lead ordinary lives within their own world, they are heavily controlled by the vampire council that watches their every move. there is a rather sharp difference in the classes, upper class being nobility, and everyone else falling below it. everyone however, is entitled to an education within altus, and most are encouraged to take interest in the arts.
culture within noirére is rich and dense, particularly in music, art, and dance. most in altus grow up with the inclination to compose, perform, and write classical music, along with creating artistic masterpieces some would think impossible to fathom, and performing theatre. most wear clothing that takes direct inspiration from 19th century clothing, but instead incredibly modern; think blouses, tight fitted pants, boots, dresses and adorned hair without countless underlayers and effort. as most vampires have no access to human blood within noirére, they eat to rely on energy. their food consumption can be heavily related to parisian food; wine, bread, cheeses, steak, fish, soups, etc. the population of altus worship their moon, and find comfort in the red light it emits, mostly due to the fact that it powers vampires themselves. for most, religion is passive more than anything, despite a few that pledge their lives to such a thing, and the loudest voices leave the more lasting impressions.
out of all of the realms, inhabitants of altus are known to step into the human world more often than others, and this is simply based on their need for human blood consumption. this however, is heavily monitored by the vampire council, and as of recent years, there has been a ban on human blood altogether. this isn't to say that altuins haven't found a way around this, no matter how dangerous it may be.
asterres, a society : astérisque moon vampires have a rocky reputation within altus. while revered for their beauty and rarity, they are also distrusted and feared due to previous incidents. most, excluding members of the council, live in a small isolated community on the outskirts of noirére, within the dense forests of asterres, marked by tall wrought-iron gates. crimson moon vampires are discouraged from entering. despite outward appearances, the community of asterisque vampires live within a self-sufficient, safe, and nature based community. they are incredibly more religious than their crimson moon alters, and dedicate their lives to the hopes that one day, the blue moon will shine once more. walkways are simply desire paths between grassy lands, candle lit lamp posts dust them, and asterisque flowers are at a near constant bloom; a meadow hugging every corner. buildings, white in color (thought to repel red moonlight), are nestled between large trees and an abundance of foliage. there is no money system, instead, inhabitants share and barter with one another. whilst seemingly warm and inviting, those who live within asterres are odd, and off putting, inducing the feeling that all will be well as long as you don't slip up.
