Lyney breathed out after a long, deafening pause. The flickering flames of the fireplace illuminated the room and filled the silent gaps between his barely audible words. His two siblings sat at his sides on the couch, bodies stiff and rigid, faces illuminated by the merciful warmth of the fire whilst their hearts ran cold.

But it was inevitable, wasn't it? Everyone knew it would happen eventually. They were just too scared to face the truth, wanting so desperately to disillusion themselves than to to see what was really happening.

And you couldn't help but smile at that knowingly, the corners of your lips shaking. You made them this way. You hid the truth from them for so long. Selfishness was never a part of you. It was their well-being and feelings you always put first.

But it was time for the truth.

"Yes. Yes, I am."

Freminet was the one to break first. The tears came flooding in, his body shaking uncontrollably whilst he keeled over into the embrace of his trembling hands. His soft sobbing filled the room, but the other two stayed strong, eyes focused and unmoving.

But the pain... oh, the pain.

It was unbearable, and your heart broke at the sight, but you knew this was right. It was time to finally reveal everything. To show your cards and tricks, allow them to see behind the curtains of your perfectly crafted play. You knew better than to believe that they didn't know at this point, after all. Not after what happened just a week ago.

The tension was thick and suffocating, the rest of the children in the house picking up on it and drowning in it knowingly. The end was near. Doom was coming. And no one could stop you now.

"And none of you are at fault for it."

Lyney took off his hat slowly, and you could see the slightest shake in his hand as he gulped down his agony. You knew he blamed himself, thinking he wasn't good enough for his Father and, therefore, the reason for your downfall. But that wasn't it. "... How could it come this far...?" He asked finally, although he knew the answer already deep down. He just had to hear it from you.

Your head turned to a nearby window, the moon shining beautifully in the night sky. What you'd do to disappear in its light than do this. "Sometimes, things such as these can happen when you ignore the early warning signs of a catastrophe... it was... always destined to fail." Lynette sunk into the cushions further as though to escape from your words and reality itself. But she heard every word and understood. She always did. "This is simply how life is, however. We both always had different views and opinions on everything. We... never saw eye to eye. That's ultimately the reason as to why I have decided to do this, children."

More silence, that was filled with Freminet trying to get himself together whilst Lyney closed his eyes in defeat. He knew the consequences of a divorce from his father. They all did. And that may even have hurt them more than it hurt you. But it was alright. They will get through this. Somehow. Gently patting his brother's back, he sighed softly.

"We understand, Mother. As much as it pains us." Tears burned in your eyes, and even then, did you not break. Your children should see your strength and follow it, as they always did. Ultimately, your sacrifices and love for them weren't entirely for nothing. You had raised them into good, kind children. Something your wife couldn't stand at times due to seeing softness as weakness. But you didn't care anymore and prayed they'd keep that part of you in them forever. Even just out of spite.

You nodded and stood up, your shadow casting largely over their sunken and weakened frames as you made your way to the door. They knew what would come next. And it made Lynette finally speak up, her voice barely above a whisper. "If you... had another chance at life... what would you be?" You turned your head and smiled again, nearly chuckled too. You understood what she was asking, as out of place it may have seemed to be.

Your eyes met the moon again and then mountains in the distance. A childish wish came back to mind, one you buried when you took on your role as the "Mother." When all there was, was you and Clervie dreaming of a life beyond the stale walls of your prison. Neither of you ever escaped them in the end, you realised grimly now.

"... I'd be an adventurer traveling endlessly through all of Teyvat... yes, I think that's what I'd be."

You left the room with those haunting words, your gaze focused on the walls and hallways of your home as you walked to where you needed to go next. You've spent years in this house, putting your own blood, sweat, and tears into all of your endless hard work. Your reward was dead children and an endless graveyard to fill. And for what? Was love really all that held you here? Who were you beyond your role as the mother? Who were you as a singular human? Clervie's shadow was haunting you, watching you from the corner of your eyes in the stead of cruel mother. She'd rest once you did. She promised that.

And it was time for you to do just that at last.

The Knave prided herself in being extremely insightful.

She had eyes and ears everywhere. Nothing ever came as a surprise to her. But you... you were the exception. She never knew what came next or what was going on in your mind ultimately. She could only guess your suffering by the endless tears you've shed and the painful fire that burned in your eyes. Yet it never went further than that.

A fatal mistake, she realised grimly.

Was it too late to fix it now? She didn't know. This was the one thing she couldn't plan for nor predict. For once, you had the power in your hands. You never did before. And it secretly irked her more than she liked to admit. But the near panic and sorrow that surged in her usually cold heart overrid the annoyance and replaced it with something she hadn't felt in a very long time.

Dread.

So much dread.

Is this what doom felt like? Is this what it felt like to lose? She hated it. She hadn't felt it in so long. She couldn't stand it! But it was her fault. Peruere understood that. Yet Arlecchino was still in denial. She refused to believe that this was it. There had to be a way to fix it. There just had to. You always forgave her for everything. You knew how she was when you married her and even before then did you never shy away from her demeanor.

Couldn't you understand that the Harbinger had no choice to be this way?

Arlecchino's confidence crumbled as fast as it came, when she saw you calmly sitting there on your once shared bed, the peaceful acceptance in your eyes soul crushing. She wasn't a fool. She understood. She really did. But it didn't mean that she couldn't try to-

"Sit down."

Your voice steady and calm, as though you weren't about to end everything. She obliged, however, visibly unmoved and unbothered as always, but you knew her too well. Peruere could never hide from you.

Sitting down on the nearby vanity chair, she crossed her legs and waited for you to speak. She had to fight for you now more than ever. She... she had to do something. She was losing you. She- "-Do you remember when we used to sneak out at night to see the moon?" She didn't respond. "I remember it well. Those were the small moments of freedom I starved for... a freedom I always starved for. We all did. And for a moment, we thought we had finally escaped for good, didn't we? For a while, we believed we had done better. We had become better."

The tears in your eyes finally betrayed you, and you didn't know why. Was it the reality that was finally dawning on you? Or the heartbreak you knew would be much greater than you could ever handle? You didn't know, but it didn't make you stop talking. The words flowed out of your mouth, the damn finally breaking after so many damned years.

"We never got out of that cage, Peruere. You have become it instead. We never had a chance from the start, and I... cannot do this anymore. I can't stand the ghost of the past haunting me. I can only take so much. I just wanted to see the moon for all of eternity with you and Clervie and yet-" A crack in your voice, a sob escaping your throat. You were overwhelmed by the emotions that ran through you. There were so many of them. Sorrow, grief, sadness... relief. So much relief.

"-We never got out. We have become what we hate the most. And I refuse to be a parf of this llay any longer. My children deserve to feel the breeze as they spread their wongs and fly out of this hell, even if I have to fall for it first." Then came the rage. It was scorching and hot. "For all the ones that have been injured. For all the ones that died. For all the ones I had to bury with my own two hands. They all deserve better. We all did."

Tears ran down your face, fire burned in your eyes, and rage made your body tremble. Arlecchino could just watch you in disbelief. She had never seen you this way. Not once in her life... what was this feeling? Was it loss? Was she losing?

"... It's over. It will all end now." You stood up and carefully presented the papers to her. Papers she had never thought of ever having to see or sign. Silence filled the room, aside from your labored breathing and the clicking of a clock on the wall.

And then she spoke for the first time. "... You... understand that you will have to leave if you do this?" She saw the muscles on your neck tighten, more tears welling in your eyes. "You were right all along, if it makes you feel better... I was never made to be the "Mother." I'm a weak disgrace of one... but I've accepted that a long time ago. I have raised my children to my best abilities, and I'm proud of it until the very end. My image will haunt you in their eyes and their hearts for the rest of your life. I will never leave."

When she looked up at you, then you saw the woman you married years ago appear again for the first time in years. "I... you..." She was speechless. She was actually speechless and powerless for the first time in her life. You just stared down at her, not backing down.

Your decision has been made. And Peruere realised then what her last action of her love for you had to be then. She had to open the gate to the cage. Even if that meant that the bird would never come back.

"... Very well, my love. As you wish." She said as she took the papers from your shaking hands.

The docks to the Aquabuses were always busy, as people rushed to get on and off the vehicles. You often had passed by them and wondered what it must've felt like to travel far away from here. The envy you felt for the foreign passengers that disappeared over the swell of the horizon was one you had always pushed away... until now, as you wanted on your own bus out for the first time in your life.

Clutching a simple leather suitcase in one hand, you turned to look at your children with a pained smile. "This... is my stop, I believe." You said gently, the morning breeze rustling through your clothes and hair. Lyney took off his hat and nodded at that with a sigh, the acceptance grim in all of their eyes. But they were happy deep down. Relieved that at least you got to get out before things got much worse. Maybe one day they'll find the courage to do the same. Not today. Not tomorrow, either.

But one day.

The Knave hadn't come along to say goodbye, but you didn't mind. It was fitting in a way. No goodbyes were needed. You had given her your inner farewell a long time ago.

Once the older two siblings took their turns to hug you tightly, it was Freminets turn. His lip was trembling, his eyes red from the many tears he had shed. But he had one last mission to fullend. A small form of rebellion. "Take this and drink it once you're on the Aquabus. It will give you strength for your travels, Mother." He said as he pressed a small vial of familiar liquid and a folded paper into your palm. You stared down at it knowingly, and Lyney closed his eyes painfully at the sight of it. You all knew what the liquid did.

But you were willing to play pretend one last time.

"Thank you, my love. I'll... write you letters." They all gave you weak smiles, and you took the opportunity to press a kiss to Freminets forehead, his eyes closing with tears escaping them treacherously. Such a terrible actor, but you weren't any better either. Like Mother, like son. "Stay strong, all of you."

Stepping onto the Aquabus, you settled down as it began to pull away from the station. And only then did the three finally break down fully. You could only sit there and watch for the first time. It took all of your strength not to jump into the water and swim back to comfort them like you always did. But you knew what you had to do. Their small act of rebellion would not go to waste like this.

Once they were almost out of sight, you finally popped the vial open and hesitated as it touched your lips. You watched their small forms in the distance, tears welling in your eyes before you finally drank it. Repeating their names over and over again, you hoped to not forget them this way.

"Oh! Is it something you require urgently, ma'am? I can turn the bus back around to the station if needed!" The helpful Melusine chirped, yet you shook your head at the suggestion.

Leaning back in your seat, you watched the sun rise over the horizon. Your mind was scrambled and disoriented, but one thought prevailed against all odds. You were an... adventurer. Yeah, right, that's what you were. And you were on your way to... well, wherever the flow of your heart takes you.

"No... It's alright. I'm sure it wasn't anything important anyway."

7:00-7:30am: Wake up, I got the lyric “7am the usual morning line up” from “When will my life begin?” Rapunzel, so you guys are waking up early. The first thing you do is either feed your pets or children, I’m getting heavy dogs for those of you who don’t have kids by this time, but I am seeing a lot of children vibes.

8:00-900am: Showering and getting ready, if you have kids, your partner will be up and looking after them for you, or this will be the time you take them to school. I feel like you’ll be listening to podcasts or ted talks every morning to get you ready for the day.

9:30-10:00am: Checking emails? You might be working from home and checking your emails or messages from clients or employers. I see you sat at your desk with a warm cup of something, going through things on your computer, your partner walks in and lets you know that they’re leaving for work now.

10:30-11:30am: Work work work, you guys will find yourself dealing with a lot of work during this time, however I do think that you make money by the hour, some of you could have a job that ensures you get paid separately by each client (like Tarot or something)

12:00-1:00pm: Making lunch for your partner, you guys will either go out to buy it and then drop it by their work, or you will make it yourself so that it feels special. Some of you could be seen as the “trophy spouse” when it comes to your partners work, they all think you’re a doll and are probably jealous of the food that you bring for your partner.

1:30-2:00pm: You can do whatever you want, this is your break time to go shopping or chill on the couch and watch your favourite show, I see that this changes often so you may like to do different things during this break, it’s not something that is set in stone forever.

2:00-3:00pm: Back to work, I feel this is when you do your best and most progressive work, some of you may be balancing another online job like authoring or possibly being a ghost writer for someone else. This is the time when you would absolutely hate to be distracted or interrupted.

3:00:3:30pm: Your final time to rest up before having to pick up the kids or take your dogs on a walk. During this time you might make yourself a snack, tidy the house (although I feel like you guys have a cleaner)

3:30-4:00pm: Little bit of a messy thirty minutes, you’re rushing around, which is why I think kids could be involved here, the school pick up is never easy lmao. For those of you who don’t have kids, this may just be you being dragged around the street by your dogs (I think they are large)

4:30-5:00pm: Your partner is home! You are also probably dealing with your children fighting during this time LMAOO, one of them wants the TV remote and the other is pissed. This could also be your time to catch up with your partner and tell each other about your day.

5:00-6:00pm: Dinner time, I do think you’ll be the one making dinner, but you definitely want to, sometimes your partner helps you out, but since you did the school run both ways, they’re looking after the kids for you now. You spend a while on cooking, you may even get it prepared around lunch time, throwing some meat in the slow cooker for later.

6:00-7:00pm: wind down time with family, chilling on the couch with the pets, watching as the kids play on the trampoline outside, relaxing in the arms of your significant other. Very calm energy for this.

7:30pm-9:30pm: The battle of the demons, time to put the kids to bed! The kids don’t like going to bed. “But I went to sleep yesterday!” You’ll have a field trip with these.

10:00pm-12:00am: You wanna get spicy with your partner? You can, here’s your opportunity. I do see you guys trying to make another kid around this time if you already have them, or perhaps this is your first. Relaxing in bed with your significant other, I’m seeing someone counting 100 dollar bills, so take that as you will, you may even take a shower together to end the night, or possibly getting wet in other ways is your way to close the day.

PILE 2

5:00-6:00am: Wake up. You guys may have to commute to work, and need to wake up early, for some of you, your work could be over seas, like if you lived in Paris but commuted to London for work everyday using the tunnel, or if you lived on the Isle Of White in the UK and needed to travel on a ferry to get to your job, either way, you’re waking up before the sun rises.

7:00-9:00am: Work, you’re at work for the majority of the day now, your job itself seems something that you’re used to and like doing, a lot of you may have to coordinate meetings, so you could be a higher up. There does seem to be a tad of stress here and there, for a few this may be caused by need of public speaking, for others there could be workplace drama.

10:00am-4:00pm: The people around you look up to you a lot, you may own a company or share management of it, there is a possibility of you working in something which involves fighting, a few of you may be in the army, and this could be the cause for the early wake up and start to the day. Either way, whatever you’re doing, you are the head of it, people have to work with you in order to climb the ranks and better improve their chance of success. You could honestly be in control of pay upgrades and promotions for your business or workplace. I see you making a lot of money by having a lot of control.

5:00-6:00pm: Home time, I see you making dinner or possibly even ordering out, although I do think that you have a healthy diet and lifestyle. A few of you could have your own cook, or utilise certain artificial intelligence that makes food??? (I don’t know bro, my guides seem to think that could be a thing of the future, you could have an online recipe book that you follow)

7:30-10:00pm: Resting up or doing whatever you want. I can’t get a strong read on this as I think it changes each day, you could sometimes go on a run, other time you’re baking cookies on call with your mother. I do think you have a strict schedule you follow when it becomes time to go to bed, you sleep like a log lmao. Some of you may be looking for a relationship at this time, and this could be the entry period for going on dates, perhaps you go on multiple dates a night lol, you seem to be the life of the party either way. A lot of you don’t drink, I see someone at a bar holding a juice box so take that as you will.

Sorry it was so short pile 2! Your day is much more put together and scheduled.

PILE 3

4:00-9:00am: If you have a young baby at this time, you may immediately go to nursing them as soon as you wake up, it honestly could even be that you’ve woken up early morning, your partner comes over to your side of the bed holding the baby, hands it to you. I do see a lot of stress around this time, so honestly I think the majority, if not all of you will have kids in five years time.

7:00-9:00am: I see you spending this time laying in your bed with your partner, possibly the kids have joined you now and you’re all just relaxing watching some TV for the few hours that you have until the morning begins and you need to get up and ready. For the few of you who may not be in a relationship or have kids, this could be a pet perhaps that you are spending the early morning with.

8:00-10:00am: You’re getting out of bed around this time and heading to the kitchen to get some breakfast started, you may have time to take a quick shower around this time, your partner will be looking after the kids, getting them all ready for the day so they can come and eat breakfast in time when it’s made.

8:30-9:00am: Some big change happens around this time, it may be that the kids are taken to school, or you perhaps take them to school. I’m seeing that this is the moment you begin your work for the day, I’m not too sure if you leave the house for it, I think so, as it does seem that there’s a change of scenery.

10:00am-12:00pm: This time is spent getting everything together for your job, I am seeing someone grabbing some coffee, if you work a corporate job, you’ll be getting yourself and some other people some coffee, collecting papers to make sure all your paperwork is complete. Some of you could be a therapist, psychologist or something to do with examining people, this is when you grab all your stuff to prepare for your clients, possible meetings etc.

12:00-1:00pm: A lot of teamwork around this time, this will be your first meeting of the day, first client, first job that you are supposed to complete. I see a need to write down a lot of stuff, you may even have a meeting presentation during this hour. Your lunch time may appear late, you perhaps have a job that runs over the normal lunch hour, so you go on your break in the next 1-2 hours.

2:00-3:00pm: Lunch time, I feel like you will leave your work building to go and buy lunch elsewhere, or perhaps your partner will bring you lunch themself, you might even order it into your section. You could be getting paid this time everyday, or you may count up your money for the day at this point.

3:30-4:00pm: You get to decide what you do here, I think sometimes you get the opportunity to go home at this time, other days you have to stay a little later, I think it depends on your schedule and the day of the week.

5:00-6:00pm: You get home during this period, I see there possibly being some time for you to relax and so what you want, before your partner and kids come home, some of you may have family around at this time each day? Or perhaps you live with extended family members and they will be making dinner for you, or getting some things done.

7:00pm-12:00am: A lot of you honestly could have family helping around the house, or perhaps you even have personal butlers, I don’t see you having to do much when it comes to making dinner, getting the kids to bed or anything, I see that you’ll be working hard on some paperwork that needs finishing, or getting your schedule ready for tomorrow, you’ll mainly be focusing on your work during this period too, I feel like you like to be prepared. You may get intimate with your partner during this time, I don’t see it lasting for too long as I think they go to bed earlier than you.

Between the Sea and the Sky!

Hi everybody! Meet the TWO new guys I made between last night and today! Their names are Tarmac (an Aeromorph dog) and Soda (a pooltoy fox), and they've filled a desire for these two specific kinds of OCs I've had in mind for MONTHS lol. They were super fun to design and draw and I'm super excited to do more with them soon!! This piece is relatively simple but more so serves as their introduction hehe

Tarmac is an aeromorph, although a bit more towards the furry side of things rather than the plane side lol. His design is influenced primarily by the Concorde and the Space Shuttle! I couldn't decide for the life of me which of those two things I wanted to use so I thought "why not use both?" and here we are lol. I'm super happy with his design, with the black/dark gray markings mean to emulate the look of the Space Shuttle's thermal insulation tiles and then I really like how the red and blue stand out against the gray. I really like his icon too! I wanted to make it look like a stylized depiction of a plane (mainly a Concorde hehe) breaking through the sound barrier with a sonic boon! In terms of personality, I don't have a whole lot in mind yet. Mostly that he'd be the brave, adventurous type and since he can fly both in the air and through space, he's gonna be friends with Astro too :3

Soda is a pooltoy fox! I have wanted to make a pooltoy OC FOREVER (blame my mutuals for always posting/reblogging so many cool pooltoy OCs hehe). I finally got brave enough to actually give it a shot, and I love how he came out! I was mainly just thinking about summery themes and as I was just trying out different colors and stuff, I thought about orange soda, and that's the direction I ended up going! He's got a big stupid tail [affectionate] and can have either rounded bappy hands or have actual fingers, you're free to stylize that either way! I've only ever drawn a pooltoy character once ever before, so this was something way out of my realm of familiarity, but I'm so happy with how he came out! He's so shaped I love him so much already <33

So those are my two new guys! Making two new OCs at the same time is already a rarity for me lol. The only time it's happened before was when I made Rye and Pumpernickel back in August of 2021. And then making these guys when I had only gotten Astro about two and a half weeks ago means this is an exceedingly rare event for me lmao. My friends know how infrequently I make/get new OCs, so this just goes to show how much these guys have been bouncing around in my brain lately lol.

They are definitely gonna have some sort of connection to each other, but I'm not sure how I wanna go about that yet. Since I made them back to back, they are already connected in my brain, but I'm not sure how I wanna express that in a meaningful way. I don't wanna make them siblings bc, well, they're obv very different from each other lol, but they're kinda parallels (with one being in the sky and the other being in the water yknow), so as of right now they're definitely good friends with each other. I might upgrade that to bfs at some point in the future, but we'll see how things go hehe.

Hi anon, welcome to the fandom and to joe'marr in general! and lol yes i do definitely post about them a lot!

ja'marr does NOT play, i agree! neither of them do about each other i'd say <3. i've described my perception of their dynamic a few times in asks (and! important to remember it's just my perception because we don't actually know any of these men personally) but here goes way too many words about it below the cut 🫡

differences and similarities

to me, they're two good friends who are seemingly very different, but complement each other well, and are actually very similar on the inside! ja'marr is outwardly more extroverted, warmer and friendlier, while joe isn't cold, necessarily, but he seems to take longer to warm up to people in general; he's never friendly just to be friendly ("he'll walk right by you and not smile" per ja'marr), and, despite recent appearances lol, is more of an introvert. (although honestly, ja'marr recently has said he's starting to prefer staying in playing video games and joe has been more out and about! so it seems like they may be rubbing off on each other!) but at their core they're both stubborn, strong, brave and have an edge to them that i think they've recognized in each other since day 1 (all those fights at LSU practices! a love of taunting!)

taking care of each other

they care about each other a tremendous amount and it seems like they are always trying to take care of each other in their own ways. ja'marr with his (maybe???) buying joe clothes and taking him out and wanting him to live his life (he must be thrilled about France Joe), and always defending him in the press (and on twitter lmao). joe always getting in extra throwing sessions with ja'marr (including and most importantly ja'marr's rookie year when he was struggling and they'd stay after practice getting extra work in), always talking up ja'marr's talent and intelligence and work ethic in the press, and he basically guaranteed him a spot on the team during the 2021 draft.

mind reading - good

they've known each other for 6 (SIX!!) years now and according to both of them they "don't need words" to understand each other at this point. which is maybe my FAVORITE thing to analyze about them lmao. because that's definitely obvious on the field. i don't think i really understood how special their on-the-field connection is (despite announcers and coaches and analysts talking about it constantly!) until i finally started understanding how the game actually works (lol i didn't watch football until 2 years ago and started understanding it even later). like, ja'marr's ability to know when to break out of his route, when to improvise when joe needs him to, and joe's ability to know exactly where ja'marr's going to be??? and all of this is happening in SECONDS while people are actively trying to bring them down through any means possible?? that's such an impossible feat and it's one they pull off all the time! and this translates to off the field for them too. one of my favorite clips ever is ja'marr describing how he can tell how joe's feeling just by how he walks in the building, and that joe can do the same for him. "i know him like the back of my hand, he knows me like the back of his" like??? ok boys! that's some soulmate shit actually!

mind reading - bad

BUT on that note, i do think that, ironically, this ability to "read each others' minds" sometimes could lead to miscommunication for them! or at least it could lead to them NOT saying things that maybe they should say out loud. i don't have a lot of concrete examples here (obviously because if they're not saying things to each other they aren't saying them to the press) but there's an interview where ja'marr's talking about his hip injury. and how he "never talked to joe about it" but he "knew in his mind that he'd come back when joe needed him" which ???? what are you talking about ja'marr?? the double mind reading there of a. expecting joe to know that he'll come back when he needs him but also b. expecting himself to know when joe would need him! like! that seems really complicated, you could just, talk to each other? maybe?

ja’marr also said that joe didn’t believe him when he told him that his presence was enough at practice, that joe thought he was joking (i guess it’s not commonplace for ja’marr to come right out and say how important joe is to him and the team! so joe probably wouldn't know what to make of that rare moment of sincerity!)

and i think they aren't talking to each other about contracts (which, fair enough, that's business), but people sure were asking ja'marr about joe's contract anyway (and they're starting to do the same for joe about ja'marr!) and we all remember a lot of ja'marr's comments that came around to bite him lol. and, i have NO proof for this one besides my projections/feelings, but i wonder if joe's worried at all about ja'marr's contract this year. if he's worried that if he doesn't perform, ja'marr won't want to stay. now, ja'marr tells the press (and twitter. and his twitch chat. and his dad.) that he wants to stay with joe, but does joe believe that? has ja'marr ever come out and actually said that to him? or is he expecting joe to just know that?

(oh man i wrote a lot in that section, and i have so little actual evidence, but it's something i love thinking about! i don't want them being too cutesy or perfect tbh. they're flawed! they're men raised in stoic sports culture and honestly i am so sure they suck at communicating. i'm sure they've had misunderstandings. i'm sure they've argued. and that's so important!)

balance

i think another thing i love about their dynamic is that ja'marr is such a good check for joe. if you haven't noticed, joe kind of runs the organization lmao. from day 1 he's been involved in the play calling, drafting, overall culture and philosophy. and that's his right! he is good at all of that! he's The Franchise (worshipped throughout the team, the city, half of the state!) and, in the beginning, i think ja'marr felt that way about joe too. joe led him to a perfect season and a national championship in college and then a super bowl his first year in the league! he himself said, right before the super bowl in 21, "he's like a god to me" which is...just a WILD thing to say about your friend :') like??? the devotion? the loyalty?? okay ja'marr!!

but, then they lose, and ja'marr "coaxes joe out of bed" to go celebrate anyway. he gets to be the one to see joe at his absolute lowest and he's the one to build him back up. and i think that really affected their dynamic from then on, to the point that ja'marr became the only guy to think of joe as an actual human being in the organization. i don't think (until very very recently with zac) that a single person other than ja'marr ever said no to joe (the way joe stayed in that titans game last year despite being hurt, at risk, and losing by so much cemented that for me!) ja'marr was the ONLY ONE to say that joe should sit out as long as he needed to for the calf. the only one not celebrating (in fact, he seemed PISSED) when joe was running around during preseason games despite not being fully healed 😭 the only one saying "come on joe let's go out" instead of just coming to him (and it seems that's finally worked lol) and joe NEEDS that. he needs that desperately! someone who will support him but call him on his shit, someone who sees him as more than just his abilities and wants what's actually best for him!

finally (oh my god this is SO LONG) i really enjoy how playful they are with each other. joe tends to be very Stoic and Serious (not all the time, but it's a tendency) and i think ja'marr is good at bringing him out of that. he's talked about how back at LSU he would joke around with joe and it took him a long time to finally figure out how to make him smile and laugh. and i think that's a skill he's perfected over the years! every mic'ed up between the two of them, we get to hear them tease and mess with each other. "you see that big blue thing over there??" "you couldn't overthrow me and get me in stride?" "my guy you were wide open!" (ja'marr's hands on joe's hips the entire time) "you're looking pretty slow" "be serious" and "he said you underthrew him" "yeah right" and "i ain't gonna lie, you look slow as hell" and "i'll start taking it off for you ja'marr" and "joe swears he's sneaky fast" and "hey man you're so cool!" and on and on and on! i HATE that we've never had a long form interview/podcast with BOTH of them on it because my god i want to know what an actual conversation is like between them. but i think it must be a lot of that. a lot of fond jokes, compliments hidden in teasing; we see them laughing together so often <3 and of course we CAN'T forget the UFC moves they practice on each other :) "we mess around every now and then".

When Wally sees Y/N crying Wally quickly goes running up to them softly saying “No, no, no please don’t cry.” And he’ll try wipe away their tears, he asks Y/N what happened which only caused Y/N to start crying more so Wally asks them if they want a hug.

Like OG he’ll go limp in their arms when Y/N hugs him and he’ll let them hold him as long as they like. Although they might find holding Wally a tiny bit uncomfortable but that’s mostly because of the pieces of straw poking out of him but that still doesn’t stop Y/N from hugging him and appreciates his comfort.

Also after listening to Y/N explain what happened to cause the break up Wally then says “Well, your Ex must not have a brain if they wanted to break up with someone as wonderful as you.”

Frank:

“Look I may not have a heart but I’m not heartless.”

At first Frank doesn’t know what to do to comfort Y/N but listen the guy tries ok? He really tries that’s what’s most important! He’ll awkwardly hug Y/N and pats them on the back trying to be as reassuring as possible.

This is one of those moments he wishes he wasn’t made of tin cause at least his hugs wouldn’t be hard and cold. He tries to offer Y/N the best advice he can and he’ll hold them close and lets them cry. Frank also poorly attempts to make a joke about if Y/N keeps crying they’ll make him rust which does admittedly makes Y/N laugh a bit.

Y/N may or may not happen to find Frank sharpening his axe later

Sally:

In the Wizard of Oz AU, Sally is quite afraid of most things however when she sees and hears how upset Y/N is over the break up she immediately forgets her fear and wants to go confront Y/N’s Ex for breaking their heart. The only reason she doesn’t though is because Y/N need her more right now. She’ll do everything in her power to take Y/N mind off of their Ex to the point where she’ll let Y/N braid her mane and put flowers in it.

Barnaby:

Barnaby has known Y/N ever since they were a kid and he will tell Y/N every joke he knows to cheer them up and make them laugh “Hey kid, Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field.” Trust me he’ll keep going until they crack a smile then proceeds to give them the biggest and warmest bear hug of their life and tries reassuring them that it’s hard now but he swears that everything’s going to be okay.

It is finally done! 10 chapters exploring the different aspects of Warriors being the Deity/God of War from different POVs, and culminating all in this final moment. Another major, major thanks to @bokettochild for creating this idea, and for giving me permission to write about it- it's been an incredible experience for me, and I hope for you all as well!

“Find Your Flame” and “Break Through It All” from Sonic Frontiers helped me write this lmao, I think the influence of these songs may make themselves known.

Now, I present:

Unleashed

Warriors kind of wished the nausea from portal hopping would return to him. He was slightly peeved he even still got it, but anything would be better than where they were now; familiarly tiled floors, extravagant windows, rough stone walls, grand pillars, and foreboding doors. His feet felt rooted to the floor, unable to move as he scanned his surroundings, eyes catching on every little detail. His heart felt like it was going to explode as it finally settled in where the ragtag group of heroes had landed.

Just his luck.

A hand on his shoulder startled Warriors, breath hitching as he swallowed down a yelp and yanked himself away from the hand- twisting around and landing in a battle stance. Now in front of him stood a concerned Twilight, calloused palm hovering where it had made contact with the captain, lowering slowly as blue eyes calculated Warriors’ quick breathing and readiness to attack.

“Shit, Wars, are you alright? No, of course you’re not- I’m sorry, but I couldn’t get your attention and you weren’t saying anything or even moving.”

Once his heart felt like it wasn’t going to burst both itself and out of his ribcage, Warriors dropped out of his stance and took a step towards Twilight, “It’s- I’m fine, Twi, just… got lost in thought.” He placed a definitely-not-shaking hand on his fellow hero’s shoulder, “I know where we are.”

Twilight opened his mouth to reply, but was interrupted by thundering footsteps and various shouts. Seven soft pings of magic echoed through his skull, yet he paid them no mind- it had occurred back during the war too, and this place had weird, leftover magic afterall. The first to appear around the doorframe was Wind, who after immediately catching sight of Warriors went barreling towards him, wrapping his arms tightly around the captain’s waist. Next was Time, the piercing white of his eye boring into Warriors as he took stock of the situation. A small, nearly unnoticeable nod was all it took to notify the older that he was alright. The rest of the heroes poured in, with Sky as the very last, forming a vague semi-circle by the door.

“Where are we?” Four questioned, shifting his gaze from Twilight and Time, to Warriors and Wind, a blonde eyebrow slowly rising in confusion. The sailor’s arms tightened around him a little more, and with gentle coaxing and a completely true “I’m okay”, Warriors was able to get Wind to let go, although the youngest hero looked highly unhappy at it.

“We’re in my world,” Warriors walked over to the rest of the group, forcing his prim and proper captain mask back on, and clasped his hands together, “welcome to the Temple of Souls.”

“And what exactly is the “Temple of Souls”? I was deposited in what I assume was a garden, but looking up and seeing myself was a bit unnerving.” Of course someone had gotten spit out in the gardens, he expected it, but right infront of the statue? What kind of joke was this?

Warriors gnawed on his lip, resting his hands on his hips, “The Temple of Souls was- is a battleground. The grounds, the gardens, the halls… all of it. It was the enemy’s ground…” He trailed off- she had definitely made sure everyone would know this place was hers, from the magic to the statues and… portraits.

He forced his gaze to stay on his fellow heroes, “said enemy’s leader had an… obsession with the Hero’s Spirit, to put it lightly, so, in the gardens, statues of heroes of the past were put up.” The captain could see something akin to recognition flash across Legend’s face, if only for a brief second; what did he know?

“Is this place safe to explore, then?” Hyrule piped up, leaning on an irritated-looking Four. Warriors hummed, unknowingly- to himself- sending out a wave of magic throughout the temple. The more magically intuned members shared a glance, partially bewildered at the fact that the scarf-clad hero seemed to be completely unaware of what he was doing.

“It should be, yes. Nothing has happened here since the war ended,” Warriors tilted his head in thought, “I would say we should split up to cover more ground, but you never know what might happen with our luck, so one big group it is.”

With a flourish, Warriors turned on his heel and started towards the nearest keep, letting the conversations of his fellow heroes wash over him. Why were they brought here? Out of all of the places for them to be portaled to, why the temple? There was nothing beneficial here, only the lingering remnants of bitter memories filled the empty halls; it would take a while to get to Castle Town from here. They weren’t dangerously low on supplies, but it never hurt to stock up on necessities. He could conjure up one positive about the situation- not being in his Castle Town meant no drunken jabs at his status and incapabilities.

A hand grabbed his elbow, thoroughly startling him. Warriors turned, raising an eyebrow at Legend, who insistently tugged him off to the side, eyes and face giving nothing away.

“Are you really that dense?” Warriors was affronted at Legend’s question, scoffing as he pulled the shorter hero’s hand off of him.

“Please, if I wanted to be insulted, I’d go to Castle Town. Did you really pull me aside for this?” The captain crossed his arms, staring down at the pink-haired hero with a faint sneer, which was returned by the other.

“No, I would still do this around the others,” Legend stepped closer, “but you really don’t see it? You don’t feel it?”

Warriors furrowed his brows, fully confused at whatever Legend was- poorly- attempting to hint at. He would’ve raised alarm about this being a potential imposter, or hallucination, but something within him told him that this was still his brother. All the captain could offer was a shrug.

Legend stared at him incredulously, “you really don’t know?” A laugh burst out of the shorter, startling Warriors. What did he find so funny?

“What do you mean ‘you really don’t know’?”

The pink-haired hero sucked in a breath, reigning his laughter into small squeaks and snorts. Warriors felt so incredibly lost in this moment- social conflicts were usually his forté, but his brothers were unique, so he wasn’t terribly surprised at being thrown for such a loop. He jumped when he felt something solid smack against his chest.

“Page 357.”

Warriors managed to grab the book before it tumbled to the floor, raising an eyebrow at Legend, who merely gestured with his hand to hurry up. Sighing, the taller flipped through the book until he came to the page. An image greeted him, one that looked familiar…

“I don’t look like that.”

Legend groaned, slapping a hand to his forehead, “you’re an idiot!” Moving his hand away from his head, the shorter jabbed his finger at the large text titling the page.

“The Deity of War? Legend I’m-“

“But you are! Look at that image! Read the text! Everything there reflects the stories you’ve told us!”

He stared at the two pages, the words and image searing into his brain; the Hero of Warriors, otherwise known as the Deity of War. He could feel himself start to shake, was he really…?

A sudden burst of alarm surged through him, causing him to drop the book and bolt, wholly unsure where he was going, ignoring Legend’s shouts behind him. There were panicked pings ricocheting off the inside of his skull- something was wrong. As Warriors ran to Hylia-knows-where, the familiar sounds of battle grew closer, and he pushed himself to go faster.

The door to the keep was wide open, revealing the battlefield- endless monsters were pouring in from the other doors, and in the middle of the enemy sea were his brothers. Only three were standing- Four, Sky, and Time. Warriors could barely make out the shapes of Wind, Four, Twilight, and Wild from where he stood, but even as they were down, he could see arrows flying- supposedly from Wild and Wind. The flood of enemies wasn’t slowing, and he could see that they were weakening and becoming rushed in their panic. In the blink of an eye, Time collapsed onto one knee from a lucky hit, holding his side to staunch the bubbling red flow.

Something snapped in the back of his mind.

Time clenched his teeth, refusing to let the growl of pain slip through. A Dynalfo had managed to get a lucky stab that got between his armor plating. The monsters of this world shouldn’t be so overwhelming- yes there were many of them, but they were normally so weak. Sky and Four had collapsed shortly after him, the taller of the two completely unconscious as he fell.

Just as Time feared for the worst, an inhuman roar- reminiscent of one of a dragon- bellowed across the battlefield- a kind that sounded eerily familiar to Time- a bright royal blue light burst out, decimating the enemies. Gold wisps danced around the fallen heroes, seemingly forming a sort of protection. In awe, Time lifted a shaking hand to the divine gold in front of him, and like a fairy, it rested on his palm, warm and familiar. This magic… it felt similar to Fierce Deity’s but at the same time it felt younger.

“Kin! Kin! Kin!” The sealed god chanted.

Then it clicked.

Nearly giving himself whiplash from how quickly he snapped his head up, Time gazed upon the being in the midst of the room. A non-existent breeze made the scarf, decorated in shimmering gold, wave and dance. The wisps of gold and royal blue magic danced across their skin, wafting off of the being like smoke.

Warriors stood in front of them, a faint glow surrounding him as his shoulders heaved. Gone was his green tunic, replaced by a pale cream with black underclothes. His normally silver armor blazed a brilliant gold. Time sucked in an awestruck breath as the captain turned to face them; the familiar blue of his eyes were swallowed by that same burning gold. Markings of the same color adorned his face, following the curves of his temples, forehead, and nose bridge, coming together to form what looked like the patterns of a helmet.

“He has accepted it now.”

Time froze, gaze slowly sliding over to his bag that housed the mask. What did they mean?

“The Deity of War has come home.”

Gentle footsteps brought Time’s attention back to Warriors, who now stood in front of him, a hand outstretched. Fear- something he had never seen on the other before- filled the captain’s face.

“Thank you, Wars.” Time took the offered hand and let the deity pull him to his feet. A short noise of shock emitted from the taller.

“You’re not afraid of this? Of me?”

The older hero felt his heart shatter, he had only ever heard Warriors sound so defeated once before, and that had been back during the war. Did he truly think so little of his fellow heroes? They had faced the odds time and time again, and come out on top, learning your brother- someone you had an instinct to protect- was a deity was new, but it wasn’t scary- he was the same Warriors underneath it all.

“Despite everything, it’s still you under it all, isn’t it? You’re the same annoying older-younger brother I had during the war and this adventure.” Time pulled Warriors into a hug, smiling as he felt the tension leave the other’s body. He screwed his eyes against the flash of light, and the body in his arms grew heavier, gentle puffs of breaths sounded in his ear. Gently, he lowered the two of them to the ground, where the others shuffled around them in a messy semi-circle. Rapid footfalls echoed in the keep, and Time watched with a wince as Legend skidded to a stop on his knees next to Warriors.

“Took him long enough to figure it out.” The shorter snarked, earning an elbow from Twilight. Rolling his eye at the interaction, Time felt a weight melt into his side, and watched as a gentle hand rested on Warriors’ forehead. Sky murmured something in a language too old even for his ears, but his focus was drawn to Hyrule, who had come to Time’s other side and was carefully healing his wound.

“He’ll be safe, Time,” The skyloftian’s exhausted hand patted the part of Time’s arm he could reach, “he’s got us after all.” Sky had slipped off into sleep, fully leaning his weight into Time, who smiled. Warriors would be fine, he wouldn’t be alone to figure this all out. Deity of War, Hero of Warriors, or Link, he was still Warriors, and he’d fight another god before he let that change.

Emma is right, Daemon groomed his niece. It’s a known tactic of predators to show their marks pornography before assaulting them (dragging the young Rhaenyra through the brothel first)…I’m sure he never thought she would go and seduce Criston Cole, lmao!

But, in seriousness, it is still in effect now; how else would a Queen’s “consort” keep his head, much less his hand, after choking his Queen?

GRRM already does make it a point to show that 13 yr old Dany getting impregnated, 15 year old Viserrra engaged to a man who could be her father and dying trying to live her last moments as a girl, AND Daemon messing w/Rhaenyra then getting the boot are all obviously bad things about this system--thus a critique of said political environments, but it's still does not mean Larra Rogare, Viserys I, Daemon, and a few others were necessarily bonafide "pedos" like Robert Baratheon, Craster, Walder Frey, or Aegon II bc...

it takes more than the presence of a marriage between 15 yr old and a 23 yr old or a mere relationship of such to rule one of them as an actual hand-rubbing "groomer" (although this particular label on Daemon fits more back in 111...he definitely was using her against Viserys) or a "pedo", bc of how marriages are an arranged affair AND these teens aren't as considered "adults" in ASOIAF--It's not a part of their conscious OR they were forced/socially pressured to marry

The boundaries are looser; again GRRM does criticize that, but he doesn't try to break away from the consequences of that by only writing characters who are closer in age fall in love or become closer or get into sexual relationships.

Example: He still has Dany have the much older and adult Daario as a lover so she can pursue her first self-determined relationship at her 15/16 years of age...which canonically she uses to heal even as she has her doubts about Daario's feelings for her. Perhaps he could have gotten her with one of her khalasar instead, like Jhoqo, but Dany is also still very much a teenager still and Daario was exciting and persistent when she wanted to feel desired. Daario is fine prostrating himself but not totally being her soldier like Jhoqo. Eventually, their relationship will not pan bc Daario's interest in her is still wrapped up more in her being a queen and she herself has the higher goal of freeing slaves, getting back her throne, later the Others, etc.--this doesn't mean that Daario wasn't a critical person in a particular point in her life or that she didn't love him. And all this is consequential to the sort of world she lives in and her particular circumstances.

gaining the trust of a potential victim through gifts, attention, sharing “secrets” and other means to make them feel that they have a caring relationship and to train them to keep the relationship secret

will often start to touch a victim in ways that appear harmless, such as hugging, wrestling and tickling, and later escalate to increasingly more sexual contact, such as massages or showering together. Abusers may also show the victim pornography or discuss sexual topics with them, to introduce the idea of sexual contact

behaviors are not only used to gain a victim’s trust but often are used to create a trustworthy image and relationship with their family and community. Child and teen sexual abusers are often charming, kind, and helpful — exactly the type of behavior we value in friends and acquaintances

And show!Daemon does show her sexually exhibitive "content". He does turn the outing into a sexual "session" after she expressed frustrations with marriage to slowly coax her into engaging in sexual activity until he stops.

Here is the thing:

*EDIT 11/4/24* as grooming implies a primary objective to prey and I don't think that's that Daemon is trying to do so much as show her sex can be fun AND force Viserys to marry them *END OF EDIT*

Again, I do not take the choking scene at face value nor a lot of shit the show writers wrote not just for these two but Baela, Rhaena, Rhaenys, Criston, Alicent, even Viserys. Not enough for me to not be suspicious and questioning the entire story they present.

Still, too much of HotD feels "unreal", even worse to me and unworthy of really taking its characters at face value-- because:

many of their own plot holes/logical inconsistencies that blow up the changes they made; some that could have been made sensical if they had written more for some characters or had more than 10 episode, had less time jump, did flashbacks, AND/OR had more hours in each episode--yes some of these are production problems or executive issues....doesn't mean that the story we're presented stops being inferior AND that some of the writers' choices weren't independently from their own brains...without an exec breathing down their necks (Condal/Hess/Sapochink's)

Baela and Rhaena are separated in the show and Corlys take the first one as a ward (doesn't happen nor would either Rhaenyra or Daemon allow that to happen without a fight, so we need to know how exactly this happened, bc Rhaenys still hates them for them supposedly killing Laenor AND the show makes as if Rhaena hasn't seen Rhaenys in a very long while or leaves the impression Rhaenyra is keeping her from Rhaenys when Rhaenys could very well get on Meleys and see Rhaena all she wants and Rhaena's boat trip to Driftmark is slower but still a relatively short distance...so why?

Daemon cruelty ignores or neglects Rhaena, and no amount of "he was disappointed" or "he was worried she'd experiences or of second son syndrome and he didn't know how to deal with that or help her out" for not having a dragon as a hatchling/in the cradle makes thia make sense when he, as the show states, is actually knowledgeable Abt dragons, Targs history, and bonds and shit, he'd know that MOST Targs bond with their dragons into their preteen, late teens and a few even into adulthood, like Viserys, himself, Aegon I, Aegon the Uncrowned, Maegor I, Laena....so how is this not an unnecessary and nonsensical attempt to asperge Daemon as a bad (more than he already was), really hypocritical dad who is not his suggested, daughter-affirming self as in the book?! And I pull this from how both Rhaena and Baela both became two of the most self possessed, confident, politically active women of their generation following a generation where Target women also enjoyed authority or prestige they previously did not without being conquerors?

Daemon was very loving and caring towards Laena in the canon. Unlike the show, he wrote a whole assed letter to Viserys asking him to accept him and Laena, dispense the exile order against him, so that Laena's twins (Baela and Rhaena) can grow in Driftmark. This is only after. A few months after the twins are in mind you. Meanwhile in the show, the girls are grown children of maybe 6-8, and Laena practically begs him to do the same and he ignores her and she tries to excuse his behavior to Rhaena!

While show!Rhaenyra is defiant even in that choking scene when she brings up how Viserys just never trusted Daemon with the prophecy, she is also made to be much more despondent and less...argumentative(?), more melancholic than what both GRRM's description of her to Amok AND the foreword of Dangerous Women anthology housing "The Princess and the Queen" shows. PLUS, how she very comfortably ignores, defies, gives up Daemon in the book as unlike an abuse victim does more than once.

Rhaenys is the total opposite of her self and they switched her and Daemon's attitudes or impressions of such in the show--Rhaenys wanted to immediately ambush KL with their dragons, Daemon is the one to practice caution.....AND BOTH OF THEM never denied that there would be some sort of battle or armed confrontation!

Aegon and Aemond, of all people, being allowed a more sympathetic writing and characterization when Daemon is written much worse than his suggested book self....they don't gaf or know much about real DV and how it develops,esp since physical DV doesn't just happen without the emotional and psychological steps of [and these don't all have to happen at the same time]: A) changes expectations or guidelines, thus keeping you guessing how to please them B) insists on spending all or the majority of your time together, cutting you off from friends and family, making fun of your interests in other activities C) constantly accuses you of sexual interactions with anyone in your life (friends, teachers, bosses, counselors, etc.). Accuses you of flirting; monitors how you look and what you wear D) pushes for instant closeness and does not allow relationship to grow at a pace that is comfortable to you [like, Partner praises you constantly and puts you on a pedestal. They want to live together immediately. Partner wants to care for your children and disciplines them early in a relationship (instead of honoring your role as their parent).] E) Partner expects others (and you) to live by their standards, yet he/she doesn’t live by them. F) always focuses on their own wants and needs. They ignore your wishes. G) easily angered, has rapid mood swings, unpredictable behavior; anger is out of proportion to the incident H) stereotypical beliefs about gender roles; insults past partners with sexist language along with ideas of them being "bad" women I) doesn’t accept responsibility for their actions

having Cole and Rhaenyra have sex so they could make her seem to be as close to predatory to Aegon, Cole more of a victim or completely helpless under her being a princess and he a Kingsuard (he isn't, not even in the show)

Laenor's male lover is not killed in a more believable setting of a tourney (in a publicly told, freak incident--this does not normalize constant death at medieval tourneys!) but Cole beats him out of clearly no cover of a tourney and licensed competition of arms, but at a wedding feast where Joffrey had guests rights....and Cole somehow escapes execution?! And we have a gay man treated worse than he was in canon, both Laenor AND Joffrey.

While people already do feel for him and understand his feelings, in the time jump of episode 6 Laenor looks less "sympathically selfish" (bc he is being selfish and he is trying to take advantage of his male privilege to go where he pleases) than if they had really developed that part of the reason why he wants to leave Rhaenyra behind is that he can't stay in the same space as his lovers killer, or have this open up a question of how much it figures into Laenor's own measure of his masculinity. How much does the allure of being a warrior/knight in a far off land have in measure to do with his helplessness or "failure" in Joffrey's death and how he approaches fatherhood?

AGAIN, show!Daemon IS an DV abuser, and that is my problem!!!! Because it isn't true of canon!!!--not for his sake necessarily but for Rhaenyra, his daughters, and their sons' sake and narrative roles in ASoIaF/pre-Daenerys. And it is a part of the writing Rhaenyra to be much less willing to defend herself for the sake of her father's, Aegon's, legacy // co opt Daenerys' narrative characterization (there is a good reason why bkRhaenyra is Daenerys' opposite). This storyline punishes Rhaenyra for marrying Daemon, when it was actually one of her better decisions AND she had a lot of power and authority over Daemon [@rhaenin-time HERE].

All of which is meant to fit into the show's "women are peace keepers of their inherently violent men" theme. Their anti-militaristic, anti-self focused women agenda. Their implication that you should not root for a woman if she uses war to defend herself or to gain polt all advantage and prestige either similar to or in defense of men doing the same. All to diminish how self assured BK!Rhaenyra was not just in her non-warrior, "high-femme" accepting but still wanting power self. The way they use Aegons prophecy is not just to give their Rhaenyra a sense of responsibility to her definition of leadership--which is a Daenerys thing, btw. Comparatively, BK!Rhaenyra might have been self focused, but at least she always stood up for herself, seems to always address others' confrontation head on, expressed her disdain (even in feast before Viserys dies), when others took or denigrated her for her gender. There was a way to show this without her completely demoralized, without her kids being in danger, without Daemon's presence.

There are more but these are my biggest reasons, but not my only one and I forgot something I noticed abt Laenor.....might add it later. So as I showed how the writing for this show is disingenuous and untrustworthy....

The "effect" that I more care about is now that this is the story that most audiences around the world will understand of the Dance and Rhaenyra.

Which tbh, GRRM already fumbled by making Rhaenyra too distant from her own war when he could have gone many routes that force the F&B writers to have to record stuff she hypothetically could have done during the war bc there'd be so many witnesses to her doing such. Of course this is her story; GRRM set the ground for it by not doing as an anon says:

GRRM in part wrote Rhaenyra as a litmus test for the readers’s misogyny but in my opinion it falls flat because he gets caught up in doing that and forgets to give Rhaenyra some dignity or respect as an individual character. And it’s honestly the same issue he has in the main series. Pathologizing motherhood in particular, esp. in relation to women who are also in politics while being mothers. Fathers are never “too mad with grief” to rule competently or make good decisions; only mothers are.

Yet the timid programmer, epitome of what most mistakingly consider ❛ weak ❜, not only suggests but insists. Mostly in Natsumi's capacity for kindness. In her being the type of person who not only shows it ( however she tries to portray it in an unsavory light ) but DESERVES it.

Granting it to the other woman whenever possible, Chihiro seems to have made it her personal mission to bring much-needed affection to Natsumi's life. What started as an indebted gratitude ( sincere but stemmed from a favor ) turning into a friendship that stands upon its own legs. Daresay an... admiration that spans over more than merely strength. Now an integral part of Chihiro's day— in person or through texts, if Natsumi is spirited away by responsibilities ( although Chihiro has grown comfortable frittering unimportant thoughts and updates to her regardless ) —Natsumi is one of, if not her closest friend. Perhaps Chihiro is even the same for her.

... But that feels like wishful thinking.

As are the images dancing through Chihiro's mind as she lies on her bed, towels hastily placed beneath her ( more than necessary, Chihiro over-preparing in her panic ) to catch whatever may escape. She can't stain the bedspread when she's expecting company... Oh god, she's expecting company. What should terrify just sends a jolt through her body, Chihiro whimpering at the thought of Natsumi in her dorm for a study session. It's not uncommon for the other woman to visit, but it still feels unreal. Lately, it's been growing harder to keep her excitement appearing platonic. Naturally affectionate as Chihiro may be, she's also awkward under pressure. And there's no greater pressure than trying to suppress steadily-growing feelings for a friend. Let alone Natsumi Kuzuryu.

This is a terrible idea... but it's the only one to come to mind. Desperate times ( and she is DESPERATE ) calling for desperate measures, Chihiro prays that releasing all her pent-up yearning frustrations will help her survive hours pouring over textbooks with the most incredible girl in Hope's Peak. With plenty of time before Natsumi is supposed to arrive ( it not even crossing Chihiro's mind what may happen if she shows up early ) shirt is hiked up to offer some relief to her nervously-flushed form. Skirt is lifted as well, panties around her ankles, a timid hand between trembling thighs. Hard and dripping, her dainty dick lies on her stomach, completely ignored. Chihiro had tried to give it attention but...

Breath quickening, Chihiro pushes harder, letting out a startled squeak as the tip of her finger finally penetrates. It's barely anything but it makes tears spring to her closed eyes. ❝ N-Natsumi... ❞ She whimpers without thinking, pleading for someone who isn't there. This is supposed to be fun, right? Hesitantly, she tries to ease her finger further in. Slick muscles attempt to welcome it, but the new sensation ( no longer painful but still... invasive ) still unnerves the poor girl. Why is this so intimidating? ❝ I—I'm scared... ❞ Chihiro breathes into the loneliness, breath hitching as she chokes back the beginning of a cry. Eyes firmly shut, a stray tear falls down her flushed cheek. Still, she tries to pleasure herself... To do what Natsumi might if she wanted her.

❝ ... I wish you were here. ❞ Chihiro mutters, shame painting her face pink as she reluctantly removes her finger. Hands resting beside her head, dick twitches pitifully in disappointed solidarity. She can't do it. She's not brave enough.

Unbeknownst to the poor programmer, the one driving her to this brink IS here— the sound of the door going unnoticed in her struggle —and there's no telling how long Natsumi has been... 「 ☆ 」

The Red Rose Tyrant who ruled an iron fist in the Heartslaybul

The one who follows through all of them

The one who makes the others follow the rules

The one who makes those that break the rules pay

No matter how ridiculous the rules are

And no one is exceptional to break those rules

Well maybe except for one

"Is it just me or do you think Riddle has become more.. lenient?" A heartslaybul whispered to one another as if trying not to get caught talking such things.

"Dude keep your voice down, but yeah I have noticed that Riddle has become just a little Lenient these past few days." They whispered back and looking around as if trying to look for someone and continues talking.

"Do you think it's because of you know who?"

"Now that I think about it, yeah, I think they are the reason why Riddle became more lenient with the dorm, of course still ruthless either way but still!"

Two heartslaybul whispering to one another about this strange behavior of the Tyrant and hopes not to get caught of whispering such things.

"What are you two mumbling about?"

And the Tyrant was right on time.

And all in his glory.

Riddle Rosehearts.

The two students were shock, and then snapped out of it and apologized.

"WE ARE SO SORRY FOR BLOCKING THE WAY DORM LEADER!"

One of them shouted.

"No shouting in the halls, and keep your voice down unless you want your head off ."

The two students kept quiet while going to the sides to let the Tyrant walk.

They watched as their dorm leader headed to where [Name] was.

"Man that was scary!"

"I really thought my head was gone man!"

"Thank the sevens that [name] is here.."

The other one nodded and just hoped for the best.

[Name] who was just chilling and playing with the hedgehogs who adores their company while [Name] was happy that they enjoyed their company.

But they didn't hear the footsteps that came closer to them with each and every graceful steps.

The hedgehogs noticed someone sneaking up on them but suddenly got excited.

They wiggled out of [Name]'s lap and ran towards the person, [Name] looked behind them to see who it was and it was Riddle Rosehearts.

"Ah Hello Riddle! I didn't expect to see you!" [Name] exclaimed while getting up and removed any dirt that was on them.

"Hello [Name], and also don't sit on the dirt like that please." Riddle said while [Name] was sheepishly chuckling and their hand on their neck.

"Sorry Riddle they are just so cute!" [Name] Exclaimed and picked up one of the hedgehogs.

"And plus this one looks just like you!"

[Name] said and showed Riddle the hedgehog who had a red color just like him who squeaked in surprise, while Riddle was also surprised.

"See, isn't he just the cutest? He reminds me of you!" [Name] bodly said.

If it was anyone it would have already been "Off with their heads!"

But no.

He loves them too much, so he just let it go and was flustered at the comparison to a hedgehog.

But he will admit, it was cute.

And thus the Red Rose Tyrant smiled while [Name] and the hedgehog were playing with each other and decided to let his guard down around them.

Although they may not know how to expressively show his love to them, it's clear that they also love him too and that's all he needs.

Riddle smiled at the scene of [Name] booping the hedgehogs nose and giggling, they turned to look at Riddle and asked to join them to play.

Riddle was quite conflicted but [Name] grabbed his hand placed the hedgehog on both of his hands.

"Don't drop them alright?"

Riddle slightly scoffed but was still smiling and nodded.

The both of them laugh while the hedgehog was between the two like a child.

For them he would let them break the rules and let them have his love and affection.

And in return, their love and affection as well.

While the two were having fun two certain students were watching them, with a fond smile while the other was taking pictures.
