It's been so long since I've gotten to answer one of your asks vjfnjgnbg I've missed iiiiiit,,, it's been so fun answering your asks!!

I’m gonna be talking more about the actual knights of Walpurgis but I’m gonna take this as an excuse to talk about my girl Lucretia cause I love her so much

Her full name is Lucretia Elladora Black and she’s born in 1925 though I’ve yet to set an actual birthday for her,, I need to figure that out. She was born with Esotropia in her right eye, polydactyly (she had extra pinkies when she was born but they were removed) and she’s infertile (these are all because of the inbreeding that the Black family is known for).

She’s in the same year as Walburga at school and she was obviously a Slytherin. She was the seeker for the Slytherin quidditch team (though her brother and cousin would often somewhat tease her that it was not proper).

Her best subject is potions and she’s very fond of them. Other hobbies, save for quidditch, include entomology (specifically lepidopterology) and a fascination for the French language. She’s also quite interested in the magical artefacts that the Black family possesses.

She grew up in 12 Grimmauld Place with her younger brother Orion (he’s four years younger than her) and their parents Arcturus and Melania Black. Their house elf was Kreacher when she was growing up and like the woman, she got her middle name after she was notoriously bad to the house elves

I picture her with very long, sleek obviously black hair with bangs, upturned grey eyes, lips that are fuller in the upper lip, a long nose and a beauty spot under her right eye and one on her left cheekbone. She’s tall for like,, Black family standards but that’s not really saying a lot? She’s taller than both Walburga and Orion but just a smidge shorter than Cygnus and Alphard. She got narrow shoulders, average bust and a tiny waist and her skin is incredibly pale like the rest of the family’s.

I think she’s the one who starts out with a crush on Ignatius and everyone considers her a bit of a bitchy mean girl cause she’s one of the girls from the Black family and she’s got a fairly stern personality and a resting bitch face but when she’s around Ignatius she’s all giggly and smiling and twirling her hair and I think she spends a lot of time trying to subtly talk him up and get either her brother or her cousins to approve of him

As for Remus!!! Ahhh I love him so much cjnfjcnf

He was born to Lyall and Hope Lupin on March 10 1960 in Abergavenny, Wales, after the two got married. Lyall is a half-blood born to parents Ulric and Altalune in 1929 also born in Abergavenny. I really like Polish Hope who moves to England/Wales at some point after the war. She is, as we know, a muggle. She meets Lyall, they have their whole meet-cute with the boggart and they get married. Neither thought that they would end up having children but they had Remus as a surprise and he made them both very happy.

I am not a Remus has distant parents/parents that hate him/anything of that sort kind of person. He’s got parents that deeply love him and that are trying their best with him despite the situation they end up with, with Remus’s lycanthropy and that shapes Remus as a person!!! Which is why it’s so important!!! He is gentle in spite of everything partially because he has been surrounded by it for all of his childhood. He’s not been able to have friends but he’s had parents and especially a mother who tried her best to make sure he wasn’t missing anything

I think Remus is really close with his mum, he’s a bit of a mummy’s boy. He’s less close with Lyall, but that’s mostly because Lyall struggles to approach him sometimes because he feels guilty for what happened to Remus because of his actions.

As for some Remus headcanons:

He grew up in a dual faith household with Lyall being Christian (though not particularly practicing) and Hope being Jewish

Blonde Remus!!! It gets darker with age but it’s still light enough to be called blonde. He’s also got hazel/green-ish eyes and a shit tonne of freckles

The nose on this guy!!! Yes,, big < 3

He smokes menthols. He hides that he smokes from his parents but especially his mother

His closest friends are Peter and Lily. He considers Sirius and James very close friends as well of course, but I think he always thinks that there’s a bit of a distance between them cause they’re “so much cooler than him”

I think he met Peter on the train before he met anyone else and the two bonded. This is why Remus was so adamant that Sirius and James include Peter in their group because he refused to exclude his first friend

Feels like stating the obvious but huge collection of jumpers

On that note, Hope knits him stuff like all the time, he’s got knitted vests, knitted jumpers, knitted socks, the whole lot. Hope will sometimes knit socks for James, Sirius and Peter as well and ask him to bring them along

He grew up in many different places since they were forced to move around a lot, but the place he stayed the longest was a fairly remote cottage that he’s very fond of. It’s not particularly fancy, but it’s very cozy and homey

For the wolfstar fans out there I think Remus is the gangliest most awkward looking motherfucker and people are always confused when they learn that wolfstar is a thing because of all people Sirius Black could end up with he chose the one who looks like he’s been through a paper shredder?

A very good storyteller I feel? If he reads a book out loud he makes different voices for the characters, but even if he’s just telling a story in general it’s always very engaging

On that note he speaks a lot with his hands

He’s a horrible dancer lol

A lot of people headcanon that Remus is very warm I feel, but I imagine he feels cold all the time even if to other people he feels warm yk?

I don’t think he’s a bad singer, he might be kinda average, but he thinks he’s an awful singer. He’ll at most do a bit of humming in a very low vibrating voice and he usually does this either when he’s cooking or when he’s in the shower

When he blushes the tips of his ears also get really red

He is the farthest thing from a morning person. It’s almost always a race in the morning to see whether Sirius or Remus will toss a pillow at James first when he’s trying to get them to get up

Remus would wear full pyjamas but none of it would match

He really likes chocolate with orange crunch in it

I could see him being the kind of person to call people love (even more so when he’s older), especially in casual passing like if he bumps into someone he’ll go “oh, sorry, love” without really thinking about it

His favourite subjects are Defence Against the Dark Arts and Charms

YLCE UPDATE NEWSLETTER!! 🐰

 Well. Not actually a news letter, but this is news, and what are postsif not big letters? I originally posted this in the official DDLitG discord server, but I’ll be sharing it here as well in case anyone is interested in my next project~

So, a couple things! First of all, the full roster of characters has been decided! The cast will be made up of 11 students and the teacher, so the main cast, being Altalune's class, will be 12 characters in total. So far we've revealed 9 students (Altalune, Virus, War, Shiro, Weird Machine, Play With Me, Anna Tanohiro, Candace and Ako), so there's 2 more to come~ Their designs will be revealed shortly, as they're pretty much finished. Their students profiles will be hopefully completed soon, and will be posted in my art blog, @yuiwrong, as soon as they are! After all 11 profiles have been posted, I'll post the teacher's and then get to work in the spritework.

In terms of story, the first 3 arcs have been finished~!! I have a rough idea of about 70% of the story now, including character relationships and story beats. I'm writing the story in arcs, just like I did here with DDLitG, except that these will be one right after the other with no filler in between. As I mentioned, the first 3 are already fully planned and written. There's not much I can share without spoilers, but as a little teaser, I'll include a short summary of the setting so you can get an idea of what YLCE is about under the cut~

Sadly I can't yet promise a release date, as the story is still very much in pre-production, and I want to make sure it's properly ready to come out rather than rush its development. But I assure you, it is very actively still being worked on, and I'm constantly making sure it's the best story it can be~ I know updates have been rather slow, and that's why I wanted to make this little newsletter, to let you all know that it hasn't been abandoned! Behind the scenes work has been constant, and even though I don't always have something to show for it, I promise you all it's a project I'm very passionate about, and I will see it through no matter what~ 🥰

Story summary:

Altalune must run away from home after her parents kick her out. Jobless and with no one to fall back on, she only has 1 option left: enrolling into [I haven't named it yet] college. This college provides free accommodations, including a room and all meals. However, this place is extremely competitive, and you can only stay if you're the very best. Every 3 months, the 2 students with the lowest grades are made to fight for survival, through whatever means they deem necessary... even if that means killing one another, as only the winner is allowed to stay. In a class full of bizarre people with supernatural talents, staying at the top won't be easy. Can connections be made in an environment that's constantly pitting you against your peers? And if such connections are made, will they matter once competition sparks? YLCE is a story of survival and competition, as well as bonds and what is needed to break them. It won't be easy to survive, but there's one thing that Altalune keep in mind no matter the circumstances: "Your Life Changes Everything"

The Masquerade of Mirrors and the Duality of Girlhood: Inspirations for Starlight Princess Chiara (pt 2)

(Part 1)

Another major inspiration for the protagonist of my magical girl novel, The Liberation of an Ex-Magical Girl, is the themes of masks, duality, and identity inherent to the genre.

In magical girl stories, magical transformations are pretty much a part of the genre. The main character can transform into an idealized version of herself, the ultimate wish fulfillment of the audience of young girls and women alike. Pretty and strong, she has superpowers, she might be a princess, she might even be an older version of herself who fits into the ideals of feminine beauty.

In my research into the genre, I think it's interesting how the magical girl identity is considered often the "true version" of who the protagonist is, moreso than who she is without the magic. And yet, the character doesn't look like them. She looks like, as previously stated, a feminine ideal.

There's an interesting contradiction there, and it's one I intend to explore with my protagonist, Starlight Princess Chiara/Elisa. As the leader of the Starlight Princess Protectors, Chiara is ambitious, driven, level-headed and a mature leader amongst her sisters. Between her and Lucia, the team healer and emotional heart, they keep everyone in line and from devolving into in-fighting and bickering.

At school as well, Elisa puts up a front of a mature, academically driven girl who is wise beyond her years. She's the type of teenager an adult would say is "mature for her age."

That's not who she is at home, when no one is around. Elisa has her moments of regression, where she likes childish things, where she can be irresponsible with house chores and hides in her room, reading fantasy books, watching cartoons, playing with toys.

Her sisters and parents technically have seen her as she is at home--but that's not who they see. They ignore and pretend that the Elisa at home is not a part of her full character, instead focusing on Chiara and School-Elisa as her only personas.

Elisa is masking in more ways than one, and as a result has an inherent dissatisfaction with herself, a refusal to accept all of herself, as she truly is. When she gives up on being Chiara after the death of the Usurper Queen, she has to confront herself as she is and come to love and understand it. A challenge for everyone, I think.

This is where the Swan Lake motifs come in. Elisa is trying to reconcile her White Swan and Black Swan, her Odile and her Odette. She has to love both in order to be a more actualized person.

And one of the ways she comes to do this is with her love triangle between Prince Cygnus, the son of the Usurper Queen, and Prince Altalune, her Tuxedo Mask/Chat Noir figure. Who in their own ways, reflect the Swan Lake motif. . . . but that's a different post.

Ultimately, while Chiara reflects a part of Elisa that is just as valid as the Elisa at home and Elisa at school, she is a mask, and the mistake of everyone around Elisa is to believe that Chiara is the only, true version of Elisa.

If viewed that way, all Chiara ever will be is a mask.

I think all women experience girlhood through the duality of masks, the ideal feminine that everyone wants to see, and who we truly are. Sometimes there's alignment between both, and sometimes there's none, and most are somewhere in-between. In a truly feminist society, this duality would not persist and there would be no need for this mask.

This is perhaps another reason Elisa starts to reject Chiara: she doesn't want to wear the mask of ideal femininity anymore and instead takes the courageous action to step forward and embrace her full, dualistic self.

Gods' Gambit: A Fantasy Epic

Context: A group of mortals is led on a quest to rescue their leader from the clutches of the pantheon of gods in their world. They make the trek across many parts of their world. With the fighting and dawning the blood of many enemies on their garments and skin. They finally reach the pantheon of their gods. The abyssal, primordial, and celestial beings look down upon the mortals with various emotions on their faces. The one in the middle floats off his seat and in front of the group, “Who may you all be?” He asked, his voice booming across the room, it sent shivers down the group's spines. They came here for the redemption of their leader

This is just going to be an introduction to the warriors and gods that will be in this story. Most of my stories will take place in various parts of this magical world while others may be in a completely different universe so that is a head up! Also, more gods may be added to the minor pantheon roster or the main pantheon.

NOTE: All of the names you see for the warriors are names given by various groups of people in the continent of Azeku. So think of their titles as something from folk lore. Eidolon Arkmir, the first character I made for BG3. I adore him so much, he’s become a favorite OC of mine! He’s a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer plagued by a strange curse that shrouds his past in mystery. Astarion is his partner, their relationship is very sweet <3 He has a Dark Urge counterpart that I call Eidos. (Eidolon on the left, Eidos on the right)

Khatar Altalune! My first actual DnD character I played in a campaign. Unfortunately his campaign ended early, so I revived him for BG3 adventuring! He’s a former war general from the Underdark, now a Monk searching for peace within himself and his past. His love interest is Gale!

Aelyn, a Cleric of Selûne. The reason they exist is for that sweet enemies to lovers relationship with Shadowheart <3 They’re a well-known figure back in their hometown due to their healing ability. Their mother owes Selûne her life, which is why she named Aelyn in the goddess’ honor.

Abraxas Stillwater, Cleric of Bahamut. After finding a relic that belonged to Bahamut and returning it to him, Abraxas was blessed with Bahamut’s divine power, and Abraxas began to worship him. He’s on the hunt for another sacred relic that was stolen from his god by Tiamat cultists. His love interest is Halsin.

Xalrinh is a newer character so I don’t know much about her yet. She’s a rebellious Githyanki Rogue, and her love interest is Karlach. I want their dynamic to be “Someone will die(of fun!)”

Also a new character I made just a couple days ago, Silverclaw! His real name is Quest, but Silverclaw is the name he was given as a knight. He comes from a noble line of knights who protect the Lords of Waterdeep. Not sure who I’ll romance with him yet. He’s a Ranger!
