I've decided to use this site as my virtual junkheap of all things Star Wars that I love, and since I took a degree in speed reading and aggregate data collection that I have used for literally nothing, I figured ~why not start now~

I'll be sharing fics & authors that fucking wrecked/rocked/wracked my world, one by one/day by day so they don't get lost in some gargantuan ficrec list, and so anyone who stumbles on these can jump right in. There will be variety but we're starting with my (obvious) favorite trash boi of the galaxy, Maul, and the many authors who have written amazing slices of his trash life-

Someday I hope I find out what happened to Michael Schur between making The Office/Parks and Rec/B99, and making The Good Place.

I say this because I just watched the first season of "Man on the Inside" which is about an Old Guy that falls into helping a private investigator investigate an old folks home where some jewelry was reported missing, and some of the messages from The Good Place are reflected in it. The messages about community, and finding the goodness in humanity, and just... Both The Good Place and Man on the Inside have this gentle quality with regards to how it sees people that just isn't present AT ALL in The Office (what little I've been able to stomach of it, it's MEAN in a way that TGP and MotI are not), minimally in Parks and Rec, and at least started to emerge in B99 but still isn't present in the same way (at least in the first four seasons, I haven't seen the rest but I will. it has a moment here or there, but it's not ABOUT that the way TGP and MotI are).

Where did this come from for Schur? What happened to him that he first dug into this HIGH QUALITY niche where humans are good and we can be better tomorrow and we need each other? How do we replicate whatever it was, to give it to others?

Danny gets adopted by the Brain and Monsieur Mallah

Now you may ask yourself: why would Danny get adopted by the brain of a French mad scientist and an intelligent French gorilla, both of who are founding members of the brotherhood of evil?

Well thank you for asking because

A) it’d be really funny

B) the Brain and Mallah are canonically a gay couple, have been a couple in the comics since 1990, as weird as it is they’re kind of cute together. Check this out

C) Danny is already used to living with mad scientists for parents, this honestly wouldn’t be that big of an adjustment

D) I think they’re mostly retired and living out their days together currently?

E) Mallah could beat Vlad at chess and that would piss Vlad off

F) Danny has an affinity for gorillas and frankly it would be hilarious if every ape that sees Danny tries to adopt him

one of the things about being an educator is that you hear what parents want their kids to be able to do a lot. they want their kid to be an astronaut or a ballerina or a politician. they want them to get off that damn phone. be better about socializing. stop spending so much time indoors. learn to control their own temper. to just "fucking listen", which means to be obedient.

one of the things i learned in my pedagogy classes is that it's almost always easier to roleplay how you want someone to act. it's almost always easier to explain why a rule exists, rather than simply setting the rule and demanding adherence.

i want my kids to be kind. i want them to ask me what book they should read next, and i want to read that book with them so we can discuss it. i want my kid to be able to tell me hey that hurt my feelings without worrying i'll punish them. i want my kid to be proud of small things and come running up to me to tell me about them. i want them to say "nah, i get why this rule exists, but i get to hate it" and know that i don't need them to be grateful-for-the-roof-overhead while washing the dishes. i want them to teach me things. i want them to say - this isn't safe. i'm calling my mom and getting out of this. i want them to hear me apologize when i do fuck up; and i want them to want to come home.

the other day a parent was telling me she didn't understand why her kid "just got so angry." this woman had flown off the handle at me.

my dad - traditional catholic that he is - resents my sentiment of "gentle parenting". he says they'll grow up spoiled, horrible, pretentious. granola, he spits.

i am going to be kind to them. i am going to set the example, i think. and whatever they choose become in the meantime - i'm going to love them for it.

So much of my art is so emotionally charged and to know that my artistic depictions are just emotional provoking as I originally felt is one of the greatest praises I can receive as an artist! That and alongside viewer interpretations of my works, I really don’t care whether interpretations are right or wrong, but I care about the fact that it’s thought and emotionally provoking. :D

I originally intended for the skin creatures to act as a pick-me-up/emotional reset, since when I view something sad, I can’t function for the rest of the day without something to balance out the sadness. Albeit I have no idea if the skin creatures really do that. 😭 Instead I’ve seen it described as the “Mush Experience” which is honestly hilarious!

One of the most genuinely adorable things the boys have done is make a terrible cringey band together. Like it’s such a kid move, y’know? It was so endearing to witness. Sure they sucked so bad an entire legion of enemy robots took themselves out, but there’s something so cute about them collectively thinking they sounded way better than they did.

i loved the people drama thia ep, it was a nice change of pace from the nature spooks but still in line with the medeival castle vibe. it was cool to see arthur and john get back to form and use tbeir observation and people skills. also john really was great, hes gotten so much better at investigating and arthur coming around and relying on him so completely was so AHHHH

it’s also fascinating how twisty it was after langward (?) was killed. i really was thinking it could be any one of them, though honestly i think it was everard cause he feels like the type of guy to start shit just cause. harlan is fantastic at differentiating characters. i need next ep NOWWW
