People: Dragon Ball focuses too much on Goku. He’s so strong, so nobody else has to do anything.

Goku: Loses first 2 tournaments in og. Dies twice. Only kills one major villain in all of Dragon Ball Z, and it’s the villain that everyone wanted Gohan to kill.

Also are we just gonna ignore how the Namek/Frieza saga was mostly Krillin, Gohan, Piccolo, and Vegeta just doin shit? They did so much in that entire arc

#also he spent the first two arcs of dragon ball literally just training and running to get to the battle mostly #he barely even fights in the android and cell saga #almost character besides Goku in DBZ’s first 4 arcs have a LOT more screen time #honestly #I’d say Gohan is on par with Goku as the main character #also the entire Namek saga and most of the frieza saga were just the side characters fighting with brief stints of Goku #I can understand how it seems like it’s the Goku show #but it’s really not #original dragon ball is #and honestly it’s not even worse for it #og dragon ball is fuckin awesome #but you can tell that dragon ball z is a show about ALL the characters #because in og we always follow Goku and his adventures #in dbz we follow everyone else too #even when they aren’t with Goku #which is basically something that never happened in the non filler episodes of og #ok thanks #dbz #dragon ball #dragon ball z #db #this is only about og and dbz btw #not super #yes super is more of the Goku show lol #Goku #son goku

sorry i saw a long post complaining about iphones & i am compelled to remind everyone that you can just buy a cheap android phone? figure out what your personal dealbreakers are, google around a little, read some reviews. i have a unihertz phone that cost $200, has expandable storage & a headphone jack, & also just for kicks has an IR blaster & FM radio receiver. you can have a good life! you do not have to buy iphone!

#sucks that the culture of forking android has more or less died. i would love to run a degoogled android fork #however nobody has made one that supports my weird phone. so like if your real dream is to run a de-googled device #you should probably buy a google pixel. they have solid privacy features at a hardware level & there are active android forks for them #you can get a refurb model so you're not buying straight from google if you want. personally my dealbreaker was headphone jack #i'm just continually baffled by how other people interact with their technology. they can't make u do stuff guys. u can just not buy phone.#also also if you have any reason to expect that police might be interested in your phone you shouldn't set up biometrics #because the current jurisprudence says that it's a violation of your 5th amendment right to not self-incriminate to make you #hand over your passcode but it is NOT a violation of same to make you touch the fingerprint sensor or whatever. just fun fact #sorry again for being gadget-y. yes i listen to the vergecast no i will not improve #please do not buy iphone unless you actively want iphone & honestly even then are u sure? really? iphone? come on

Bought one of my lil nephew giannis shoes for his birthday bcs he loves giannis and these are some of the ugliest fucking things I have ever laid my eyes on in my life. anyways it's his bday today so i gave them to him. but they are so ugly. he loves them

Ok honestly whats with people being all anti google and anti chromium but still being pro android? Android is google in the same way chromium is google. It doesnt matter if its not a google pixel or not google chrome, its still google. Is it just that you think apple is worse than google? Do you have a reason for thinking that, or is it just that its cool to hate apple? And im not saying apple is great morally upright corporation, but i dont think theyre worse than google. At least apple maps still says gulf of mexico

#i wanna clarify im talking about apple in the us #i know in other countries they’re insanely overpriced #dont get me wrong theyre overpriced here too. but not more than any flagship phone is overpriced #ive never heard an argument against apple that couldnt also be said against google other than -#‘theyre a fashion company not a technology company’#the only basis for that being that the specs dont look as good on paper #but like. yes apple has less ram but the os uses less ram #so theres actually MORE ram available to you to use cuz the os isnt using all of it #when i switched from android to apple like 11 years ago i was shocked how much MORE my phone could do #without overheating and crashing #yes you have to learn how to use the os and that takes time obviously #that doesnt mean the features arent there. you just dont know how to use them yet #every time ive seen someone new to apple complaining about features they no longer have -#ive been able to tell them how to do the thing theyre trying to do #and i dont even know ios that well anymore. i havent been keeping up with learning things after updates since i got my first one #my brother could tell you way more #the only feature of android that ive genuinely never found an ios equivalent for and i miss is the ease of changing different types of volum #but thats not that important #compared to everything else #i like apple cuz theyve kinda been spearheading the rainbow capitalism in regards to trans-ness #while google’s stuff (pinterest youtube etc) has been actively promoting terf and transphobic stuff my whole life #i know rainbow capitalism isnt great obviously but its better than the alternative #and other ways its better than the alternative politically #and its actually a better product imo

emotional over how Android 17 was built to kill and now his job is protecting life. he doesn’t want to kill the poachers even though they directly threaten the animals that are so important to him

he has a wife and kids now and has an actual life, something that Dr Gero never envisioned for him or his sister. they were created as tools meant to kill Goku but they’re his friend now. they live for themselves and value the lives that they were originally meant to destroy

#android 17 you are so special to me #the ‘even monster deserve a chance at life’ line he says to Goku is SO!! good because it feels very applicable to him and 18 #they’re weapons built by the army to kill people and iirc they’re called monster a couple times throughout the Android/Cell sagas #but!! they’re also just people!! they were teenagers when they were experimented on and turned into androids they didn’t choose this #Krillin sees their humanity and asks Shenron to take their bombs out because he wants to give them the chance to live normal lives #and they do!! they grow and learn to appreciate the world around them and they have families ouugh #monsterous animals don’t choose to be born like that instead of cute. the androids didn’t choose to become androids #but they are and they deserve to live just as anything else does #I love overanlayzing dragon ball. this was probably not the intent but idc #ALSO I just think it’s interesting that the poachers leader claimed to have a bomb inside of him as an ‘insurance policy’#which directly mirrors the Androids who had bombs implanted in their hearts as insurance for Dr Gero in case they ever got too difficult to #control. does it mean anything? probably not. am I shaking it around in my head? yes #the androids are soo fascinating to me. did toriyama know he created the best characters ever when he made them #db watch

one of my greatest irritations with the dbh fandom is the way most people act like non-deviant androids walk around saying “Beep Boop I Am A Robot” all the time 😭like a big part of the reason cyberlife is so successful is that androids are lifelike! they act like humans! pretty much the only difference between deviant and non-deviant androids is that deviant androids can say no! sure deviant androids may have more of a personality but that’s because they’ve escaped from the people who literally own them! also, most of the non-deviant androids we interact with are when whoever we’re playing as is presenting an android, ofc they’ll act cold, they don’t think they’re speaking with someone who’ll appreciate inflection! or, it’s androids who’re designed for manual labour and so specifically don’t have a social program/have a less developed social program!

like there’s a reason that when we play as markus and kara before their deviation, they can still make decisions!! hell, almost all of the time we play as connor he hasn’t deviated and yet isn’t just a caricature of an ai from 20 years ago.

Alien Romulus was cool but I have to say the dynamic between the white girl main character and her Black synthetic brother was like. Idk. That was definitely a choice the writers made

I still have NOT started my Kikaider rewatch because I swear I have adhd and can’t focus right now to do anything besides build dragon ig but I keep rotating back to like- how similar mitsuko and michirus families are and I’d love to do a comparison on them but I don’t know how I’d do it given not just “well mitsuko and her fam got to be more fleshed out in especially the anime cause they didn’t have to juggle three main characters” but also like they’re two families who aren’t necessarily a family trope themselves but rather are compromised of multiple tropes from that era:

Michiru/Mitsuko: The supporting girl who is friends with the main character, potentially their love interest

Saotome/Komyoji: The old man scientist who works for the good guys and sometimes may or may not either be the father of the MC or the supporting girl

Genki/Masaru: The little boy support character who tends be the little brother of the main character, but sometimes can be the little brother of the support girl

And then they both get slapped with a dead older brother and a mother who is MIA both of which don’t always happen in tandem with these tropes but I think it’s more of a coincidence both Michiru and Mitsukos families are so similar so they just line up these tropes that were super common back then. (Though since Kikaider came first Ishikawa could’ve POSSIBLY took inspiration especially because Nagai knew Ishinomori but I have no clue if they ever met)
