I'm going to take this as a invitation to rant about them bc I have so many Thoughts on them (I'm so sorry)

First thing

(warning:all caps) HARUKA?????? LIKE THE MOMENT SHE STARTED SINGING MY JAWS DROPPED. SHE SOUNDED GORJEOUS. I REPEATED TIMESTAMP 1:28 SO MANY TIMES I HAD LITERALLY ASCENDED. RUI TOO AT 0:33 THAT WAS AMAZING. AKITO'S GROWL WAS SO GOOD. AND THE ART IS SO PRETTY THE LIGHTING THE OUTFITS THE VOCALS THE HARUKA (I really like haruka idk if you can tell). THIS WHOLE COVER HAD ME STARING AT MY SCREEN IN SHOCK. 17382947193728/10

Oughh this song...this might be my NayutalieP bias showing by this was ADORABLE. The little chibis were amazing. They really just added some of the best characters and had them sing one of the best songs in the game. The one thing that stuck out the most to me was the MIXING OMG. They all blended so well and Emu/Mizuki's vocals had me ascended. Those little symbols that represented each character was so cute (count pearl and Kohane...). I know a lot of people wasn't a big fan of the devil manners and alien alien covers but honestly their definitely my top 3.

Honestly at first I had kinda mixed feelings about this. But then I listened to it and omg. Yes. The mv is my favorite, besides maybe the Alien Alien one. I never knew I needed Toyamino in my life before this. Honestly I was never a big fan of booo, especially the MMJ cover (I'm sorry 😔) but this cover is just. Yes. Minori's chibi was so cute and THE OUTFITS??? Yeah definitely a fav.

Man, I have so many feelings about this. I love Setsuna Trip so I can't really bring myself to really hate it. Shiho absolutely ate and left no crumbs. Airi slayed just as hard in this as in the original minoairi cover. I love how everyone yells "Hah? More guitar!" I saw that some people really disliked Kanade in this but I don't think she sounded too bad! Her voice was sometimes drowned out by the music and the other voices sometimes though...but she really harmonized well with Airi and Shiho. The art and MV is so bright and flashy it makes me feel like I'm at a disco party. Kinda reminded me of an anime opening lol. Overall I think this cover was a bop

Honestly I have no really strong feelings about this. I mean Honami sounded so angelic in this and everyone harmonized so well. This was one of the rare times where the Vocaloid actually mixed really well with the others. The MV is definitely my favorite (besides maybe Devil's Manners). The art is so pretty (Mafuyu my beloved) and the purple lighting??? Yeah I'll take this. No strong opinions I just think it's really pretty. Would sleep to this.

SHIRANAI SHIRANAI BOKI WA NANIMO SHIRANAI

They really just took my favorite characters and Vocaloid and made them sing one of my favorite songs. This entire cover was targeted to me. The strong vocals really made the chorus Pop Out. They all sounded so pretty please SEGA release a full version it would be a crime to not. Also the mv made all my girls look GORGEOUS. I love how dynamic(?) it is (lots of motion, idk what's the word for that). Amazing. My skin is clear. My crops are watered. My grades are up. I have 20/20 vision. The sun is shining. And it's all thanks to this cover.

So I think my rankings for the songs would go like this:

Vocaloid song to Brûlee: 1) "welcome to mirror sound's kingdom" hitoshizuku x Yama. The Kagamines have a lot of songs about mirrors 2) " the portrait Grassred drew" mothy. Gumi character drew a portrait of a person dear to her who changed, and she remembers of when he was more himself in the past. Sounds a like what Brûlee wants to say to Katakuri.

ooo this is tempting me to make a Vocaloid playlist for the Charlottes (＾▽＾♡ The first song fits the more of the family's aesthetic (all the "being invited and never being able to escape" biz). The second song, which is also my fav btw im trying not to be bias with Gumi I swear but her songs and her voice is really good hhh, some parts of the lyrics really hits home, like this:

Brulee would love him even if he has changed, as long as he was happy/content with the change he made. Which is why, even if Brulee had always known his brother isn't perfect, she still supported the reputation because she knows that's what Katakuri would have wanted.

Katakuri chose to live the way he is, and in the reputation he built. "In these pictures I painted," the pictures could mean Katakuri's "perfect" image or reputation, "I painted" could imply Brulee does feel a little guilty that she was partly the reason why Katakuri is living in the "picture" (ideal image) she "caused" (painted).

This picture is not what Katakuri had wished for, but he lived it still, for his family.

Welcome to Groupie! (The Carson Elliott Post)

Welcome to the inaugural post, which officially marks Groupie as part of the RDR cinematic universe! Yes, this humble (two-issue archive) zine has entered the digital realm with 100% less paper and at least 50% more risk of potentially exposing my identity on accident to the musicians I review. Ultimately, good art is not without its risks, and good music reviews/comedy/online dating experiences are not separate from this rule. Here at Groupie, we choose to take those risks (like the shitty terminally-online version of Indiana Jones) because we believe that, at the end of the day, everyone deserves a fan! In this new form of the zine, we’ll still be reviewing musicians from a pool of people I have matched with on different dating apps (Tinder, Bumble, Hinge) and give them the feature that they deserve, along with including a “tasting-menu” playlist so you can give their music a try.

With that all being said, the artist we’re reviewing today is Carson Elliott:

When I matched with him, I was immediately shocked because my first thought when I saw his profile was, “hey, isn’t that the guy who did the ‘Say So’ cover on Tiktok” and indeed, I was correct! That is him! Along with doing other short covers of songs like “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “Let’s Groove,” Elliott has a solidly sized discography of original songs available for streaming on most music platforms. I’ll admit I was briefly starstruck when we first started chatting, but it did not go far because of two major reasons:

1. I absolutely hate texting. 2. Around the time we had matched, I was starting to get very tired of dating apps as a whole (this will be a consistent theme in many other posts).

Transitioning away from my eventual soft ghosting of Elliott to actually reviewing his music, it is the same way in which dating apps have left me slightly dissatisfied and wanting more that his discography also makes me feel. It’s full of the kind of pop music that is sleekly polished but inoffensive. While he genuinely puts in the work to make the auto-tune of the talkbox pulse with some emotion, there’s a lacking of variety in the surrounding track to his singing that ironically makes the songs seem more robotic than the autotune itself. For example, from his newest EP, “Simple Stupid,” the track “Anywhere” is a toy robot-type love ballad, while “Panic” is a dive-into late night anxiety. The themes could not be more different, but the same cannot be said about the actual songs. Objectively the music is catchy, and I don’t find any annoyance with it (I’d like to note my heavy bias of having been an intense Vocaloid listener in elementary school). Still, I would love some sound variance in the songs that could align with the variety of actual themes in Elliott’s work. After all, if your songs all sound the same, it begins to feel like you’re extending your cover work to your own stuff.

Tying everything together: Do I desire to listen to Elliott’s EP in its entirety again? No. Would I match with him again if given the opportunity? Yes! I believe passion is the sexiest trait someone can have. While I can’t always guarantee that I’ll like someone’s music, if they’re into making it, then I’m pretty fucking into them too.

He’s the cutest and sweetest of the whole band, his mask is the coolest, I actually have a weak spot for that ear stretch thingie and his wife is my goth idol!

That’s his mask by the way. His “notes from the underground” mask is the coolest thing ever crafted by human hands (change my mind meme)

In case you want a rap-rock, mask-wearing band to stan, by the way, do check out these guys they have glowing masks. And the “everywhere I go bitches always know” song you might know from memes, that’s theirs.

7) Bring me The Horizon - Oliver Sykes

Of course I’d stan the singer. And illude myself with the fact he dates a Brazilian (!!!) model who’s just 2 years older than myself.(!!!!)

Oh if you wanna listen to a band that started as heavy metal screamo then went to eletronic rock and got to full pop (lyric video because the dog dies in a very bad way in the mv) and excels at all genres, by all means. Here’s one of my faves in the middle ground.

I never stanned anyone from LP but I have 2 bands left and I can’t not mention them.... One of the biggest regrets of my life is that I didn’t go to their show last year because I was in the middle of finals season. I should have told school do go fuck itself.... I couldn’t have known it would be their last show in Brazil... Please rest in peace, Chester.

9) I can think of a group to add here but I’d be getting into an area of bands that aren’t that meaningful to me. That I never got that deep into. Ok, I haven’t gotten deep into 4/5 of the kpop groups but I got as far as I could in the subject this post was SUPPOSED to be about. Now that I switched to rock bands I will include the ones that I have a connection to. And I’m adding an individual artist. Because I love her, because I stan her. And that’s Nano.

 I’m sad she’s so unknown, I’ve loved her and her songs for years, since the time when she made vocaloid covers and didn’t show her face. This is literally the only gif I found of her. And not on tumblr, on GOOGLE.

Please listen to her, her songs are amazing. She’s japanese, raised in NY and she makes bilingual songs. Born to be is one of my favorites, 5150 is my favorite cover (half of it is in english) , Be Free is entirely in english, she’s made two anime openings (for rather unknown anime) and I can’t find an excuse to include this song too.
