I hate to clutter your ask box with something like this, and you don’t have to answer, you can just read this with an open mind, but I feel you're the only one I could go to with this without being straight-up attacked. It's also why I'm asking anonymously.

But, what's your stance on the whole war between the JP and EN versions of the game? I'm not asking you to pick a side or anything, I just wanna know your thoughts.

Obviously, I'm an EN player, and idk if you seen, but there's some hateful things out there about us, and honestly, it's hurtful and disheartening to every time I get up here. And it's always on this we as players can't control. Mainly the dialog translations and it's changes.

I've seen people calling us dumb and weak, saying we water down everything because we can't take it, etc. I've seen people saying we don't know how to really correctly and analyze characters and that we're not even playing the same game. They say we've ruined the game, the fandom, and that they wished it was never localized. I've also seen quite horrible things, but I don’t wanna repeat the things said, but yeah.

And the kicker is, it's only the JP side I've seen post this stuff. I've seen more hate come from that side more than anything, and of course not all, like you. You're my fave btw.

Before I provide my response to the question posed in this ask, I want to make sure we're all on the same page for this discussion first:

Please be advised that my perspective is coming from that of someone who started off playing JP in March 2020 and then picked up EN when it came out in January 2022. I have played on both servers since their initial launches.

When I refer to TWST JP and EN fans in this post, I am only referring to the English speaking fans (as in, English speaking fans who play JP and English speaking fans who play EN).

For the sake of simplicity, I will be disregarding “hybrid” fans (English speaking fans who play both JP and EN) as a separate category and will lump them in with “JP” fans (English speaking fans who play JP). This is because I assume most mixed fans started off with JP and then adopted EN later on.

I am not talking about ALL English-speaking JP and/or EN fans here; I am only talking about the ones Anon described in their ask.

As the Anon said, I ask that you go into this post with an open mind; do not assume that I will bash JP and/or EN, take sides, defend or condone toxic attitudes, or that this post exists just to “stir the pot”. That is not the purpose of my response. The purpose is to have a meaningful and constructive discussion about TWST’s fandom culture, particularly as it pertains to English-speaking fans. I hope that in talking about this, we can better understand “the other side” (however you may personally define that) and work toward making the fandom space more welcoming for all.

Please read the entire post and think about your own choice of words before commenting and/or sending in an ask about this topic, should you choose to.

To the Anon that submitted this ask and to anyone else that plays EN and may have had similar thoughts: I’m sorry to hear about the negative experiences you’ve had in the TWST fandom. I hope that this post brings you some peace of mind, if not at least some catharsis for what you may be feeling.

Firstly, it’s important to understand the mindset of both JP and EN fans. As such, I will delve into the background and the development of each side. It is NOT meant to justify either side, but rather to inform you on how each perspective originated and grew to what it is today.

The animosity and opposition to an official English version of TWST has been present for a while. An English version of TWST has always been contentious, even long before the localization was announced. Some wanted it to happen for accessibility reasons (as some people find it tedious to hunt for translations) or were supportive of the idea because it means a larger fanbase and thus more potential to make friends or to discuss the game. Others were more apprehensive of the quality of a localization (as much tends to be cut or censored to make the content more palatable) and/or claimed that expanding the fanbase in such a way would bring in more “bad apples”.

When EN first came out, it did, in fact, expand the fanbase. However, many were quick to notice the many (and I do mean many) errors and short sightings present in it: frequent spelling and grammar mistakes in the game and on official social media posts, inconsistent phrasing, incorrect translations, game-breaking glitches, frequent censorship, half-hearted promotions, etc. EN also became infamous for its absolutely brutal pacing of content in the early days, particularly related to the limited story event schedules (including back-to-back Halloween events). This, in combination with EN’s constant pushing of paid gems (which occurs far more frequently than in the JP server) has left a bad taste in JP fans’ mouths. To them, TWST EN did not make a good first impression and continued to misstep again and again. This is especially true of the many dialogue changes to make the TWST localization more “culturally appropriate” (which is the definition of what a localization is; there is a reason why TWST is not called a translation, which would be a more accurate/“faithful” or direct translation of the dialogue).

The claim that “EN fans are weak/can’t handle the real story” likely arises from how EN has removed or altered details which may offend western audiences. This includes things like the term “master”, the mention of Azul’s weight, Kalim’s “30-40” siblings, etc. These are conscious decisions made on the part of the game localizers to make TWST more broadly appealing and appropriate for a western audience, where such topics are contentious or considered taboo. This is adapting TWST to a new culture so that it can (in a dry business sense) perform well. However, I also want to mention that some cultural changes EN made do significantly alter the story/characters (such as Jamil no longer stating his family will be on the streets if they defy the Asims; in EN he only says his parents will be mad at him), particularly if you are viewing through an EN-only lens. Unfortunately 😔 as much as I can point the nuances of localization out, there will always be fans who still oppose any sort of censorship. This is also true of the anime and manga community in general, and this post isn’t large enough in scope to tackle those issues. I only mention this here to help you, the reader, better understand the changes from Disney/Aniplex.

A lot of the original negative feelings that were there before EN was announced were then confirmed by the official release, and this strengthened the dislike of EN on the part of JP fans. These JP fans may then become hostile toward EN fans who defend the localization (whether or not they have the context of TWST JP) because, in the eyes of the JP fans, the localization is not as good as it could be. Ultimately, it seems like their intense feelings stem from passion for what they love and not wishing to see it “desecrated” rather than an actual hatred of fellow fans. JP fans are upset because they fear EN fans are not getting the full scope of the characters and a story they enjoy, and they want others to appreciate those aspects of TWST as well.

Of course 💦 the fact is that EN fans are not responsible for the localization. But EN is there and that is what is the easiest and the most time efficient for English-speaking audiences, so most people will go with that rather than alternatives (ie hunting down fan translations). The issue is that some JP fans conflate simply consuming the localization as being bad or the “wrong” thing to do, and thus, by proxy, extend this frustration to EN fans themselves (especially those those are EN only and have zero prior knowledge of JP) and not just the product. Again, this is because they tend to see JP as the “full” version, without the changes or censorship present in EN. This inevitably leads to discrepancies in understanding between JP and EN, whether due to staggered release of new content or how the characters are presented differently between the two servers. To those who say “the versions are basically the same except for minor changes”, I disagree. There are several dialogue changes that appear small in isolation, but because TWST’s narrative is told primarily via dialogue, those “small” changes are actually very large and can drastically modify how one perceives a character or situation without explicit knowledge of JP to balance it out. When Jamil is made an “employee” rather than a “servant” and worries about his parents being mad at him instead of his entire family literally being on the streets for defying the Asims, it takes away the bite from his motivations. When Cater inserts a #WOW that wasn’t there in JP while Riddle is breaking down sobbing, or makes him come off as far more insensitive than emotionally aware. These are just a few examples, but they are very prominent ones that can change how an EN only fan sees things. The idea that “we aren’t even playing the same game” can ring true to some JP players because of this.

It cannot be helped that EN fans would interpret the characters and stories differently when the localization is their only or primary source of TWST content. Not everyone has the time or the desire to look for more accurate fan translations (not all fan translations are the same quality), as some JP fans have suggested. If EN fans want to, that’s great! It’s nice to expand one’s knowledge and to be cognizant of the changes between the versions. There are many blogs out there dedicated to educating people on these matters, and many EN and JP fans alike flocking there to be informed. But that level of engagement shouldn’t be demanded of anyone. To deem those that don’t engage in “further research” as “lazy”, “dumb”, or a “fake fan” is not acceptable, not in the name of love or otherwise. The expectation to “do homework” only puts pressure on EN fans to be a certain way or else be rejected by the fandom, and that only breeds more hatred and negativity. It makes EN fans feel “not worthy” of being a fan unless they study up, when the truth of the matter is that no matter how much we like TWST, it’s… media at the end of the day. People are free to consume their choice of media however they like, and that includes casually or at their own pace. It’s not fun to be in a fandom where others are breathing down your neck and policing everything you do, especially since these spaces are meant to be a temporary escape from reality. If JP fans meant to gatekeep in an effort to make others recognize the “real” greatness of TWST, then it’s failing because this kind of attitude only serves to drive new fans away.

Among EN fans, there is this idea that “JP fans are stuck-up”. I can understand where this thinking comes from, as I have witnessed hatred for EN myself which comes unprompted and has killed many conversations. Admittedly, some points are geared toward the company themselves (and those are valid), such as rushed and/or inaccurate translations or the pushing of paid gems, but I’ve also seen my fair share of nastier, invalid comments directed at EN fans. There are JP fans who actively hope that EN will shut down or who outright dismiss EN fans because of the version they play, thinking of their thoughts and opinions as “lesser” or doubting their media literacy skills. It’s true that this behavior is out there in the fandom, and that is unfortunately a sad reality.

That being said, JP on EN hate is not the only form I see, and nor is it the majority. It goes both ways (and I would say about equally for all, although this is just based on anecdotes and not objective data). There is plenty of JP on JP hate (particularly when someone spreads mistranslations around as though it were the truth) and EN on EN hate (arguments over what is and is not appropriate to ship, differences in headcanons, harassing fans that fall outside an “acceptable” age range, etc). There is also EN on JP hate which feeds into a dangerous back-and-forth with JP on EN hate. I briefly mentioned before that EN fans tend to believe JP fans are elitist, and this leads to assumptions being made about anyone that critiques EN and sometimes lashing out about it. I myself have previously been accused of “hating” EN because I often make posts commenting on the changes made between EN and JP (which ones I think work and which I think don’t). This preemptively defensive behavior drives another wedge between JP and EN fans, making JP fans reluctant to engage with EN fans, which then fuels the belief that JP fans think they’re “better” than EN fans (when really, some JP fans may be intentionally distancing themselves for their own wellbeing). Additionally, a lot of behavior deemed more acceptable in western oriented fandom spaces (such as moral justifications, taking pictures without crediting, callouts of other fans, and incorrect use of fandom tags) are not so for JP spaces (or those familiar with JP spaces). There have also been times when EN fans harass the actual Japanese-speaking side of the fandom (be it Japanese fans or the devs themselves) and demand (not ask, but demand) content that caters to them or free translations of fan comics they make. When EN fans fail to observe such “basic fandom etiquette”, it leads to JP fans thinking them rude or entitled, which makes JP fans reluctant to interact with EN fans and, again, feeds into confirmation bias. It’s a viscous system.

What is “ruining” the fandom is not just one side. There has always been turmoil present in fandom spaces. It just appears more visible now that TWST’s popularity has grown to this scale. Right now, both sides (JP and EN) are antagonizing each other because of a loud minority that’s attacking the other side. That minority then gets extrapolated and assumed to be behavior of the entirety of the other side, and that is what keeps the hate going.

If I’m being entirely honest 😔 I don’t think these tensions will realistically ever die out; the fandom is too large to “stomp out” what has already been established in its culture. When both sides are fueled by something so strong—a passion for TWST—it’s hard to seek out and/or to consider alternative perspectives. We become fixated on their own negative experiences and fail to think about where the “others” maybe be coming from, and then close ourselves off from discussion. That promotes isolation and contempt rather than friendliness and cooperation.

If we want change, then it starts at an individual level and in smaller TWST communities. We shouldn’t assume the worst of “JP” or “EN” fans; we are all TWST fans. Let’s keep open-minded and welcome other fans and their diverse schools of thought. And if you don’t feel comfortable with that, that’s also fine! You’re allow to keep a distance and curate your online space as you like; just please don’t go out of your way to disparage others, you have your own lane and others have theirs. Don’t encroach on other lanes.

Maybe we don’t necessarily agree with each other or we think may hold different opinions—but that’s good, isn’t it? The freedom of thought and the open exchange of ideas promotes flexible thinking and can lead you to see things from a new angle, or perhaps develop a new idea of your own. If we all thought the same way, then life becomes boring or it can cultivate an “us versus them” narrative that sparks online wars.

Let me put it this way to close off the post: isn’t this the message that Twisted Wonderland itself is trying to teach us? The true value of attending Night Raven College isn’t just about receiving a good education. Countless times it has been stressed to us (and often by Lilia, the oldest and wisest of the core cast, someone who used to be resistant to opening up to outsiders) that it is vital to understand other people in spite of how different we may be. Let’s take a page out of the students’ book and try to live up to that ^^

Edgar anon is back (＾ω＾) I'm still learning details about Edgar's backstory, it's definitely good to read into his stuff so I can't add much to my thoughts from there and won't elaborate too too much. He was extremely talented from a young age and receive the attention and praises from his family and people around him, but he had grown up to find he does not share the same views on art with anyone around him, including his mentor in his childhood who he refers to as a fraud and that nobody around him is worthy of discussing art with him ^^

He is portrayed as very stubborn, snobby and rude ,, which i *despise* how people either erase that from his personality, or make him change as soon as it comes to sexual exchanges. He feels as though everyone is below him so I see no reason why that wouldn't carry over to his intimate life yknow? Nothing wrong with being a pillow princess but every time someone erases big aspects of personality for their 'soft femboy edgar' I want to jump out a window

Mitsuya: I don't wan a call him a helicopter parent.... but he's a helicopter/gentle parent he's gonna be there when he can and when he can't he's always reassures them that even though he's not there for the plays or sports games he knows that you did your best and that he's proud of them. He's another who LOATHES open houses on that particular day he's like a monk and will take a vow of silence and just ignore anyone who isn't important, he's dealt with his fair share of moms and dads either trying to get something out of him or wanting something from his partners. He is another who would wanna pick up the kids early just to go somewhere fun.

Anyway, onto the main anon, kjfsdnfkjdskjnjksdnjkdskf a lot of people have said that to me as well xDD I think I've gotten a couple of anon asks about it. I can't help but be loud about Azul here, he's my joy and light. But hey, loudness doesn't equate to how much one adores someone, I'm sure you adore Azul a lot as well (and please bug me about it so we can scream together, I need more Zuzu stannies)

As for the anon ask, ok I can't find it right now HDFKFJKSFKSD but noo don't worry too much about it. I know some Azul stans who also reacted the same way xD first impressions are first impressions, after all, plus not everyone will react the same way. Like ,, I love Riddle, but I was laughing when he cried the first time because the sounds sounded funny 💀 What matters more is understanding and the willingness to understand what's happening, why a character acted the way they did, and how they are as a person in general.

I miss RA so much when we don't hear much about him for a while. Not in an invasive way, in a "I really like hearing from/about him and when things are quiet or he is solely promoting work, I miss his personality". I wish interviewers were less annoying so I could watch old interviews but so much of the time, they just ask the same questions over and over and it's usually stupid shit like "wow ur tall how did u act in the Hobbit" or stuff that seems to make him (and me) uncomfortable like commenting on the "Armitage army" or making comments about his appearance. I think he's an interesting guy! Let me hear what he has to say about actually interesting topics! This is prompted by nothing particular but you're the only active RA blog I follow and I felt like I needed to commiserate.

I've said before that (in general) the questions asked by interviewers tend to be very relative & a bit boring - which, in all fairness, I can understand *a bit*. as much as we love him (and he should), he doesn't really have the brand recognition to the point where I would expect most people in a random survey of the population to know who he is just by name. so interviewers are naturally going to ask a lot more of the 'basic' questions - tbh I think most of them still go "oh, it's that guy from The Hobbit" in terms of how much they expect the reader to know. so yeah, it's shitty, but I guess I can understand where they're coming from in terms of doing their job. I don't agree with it but I can understand it

in all fairness as well, he has said in the past that the reason he doesn't so many interviews is because it's not his thing & he doesn't really enjoy them - he's said being on talk shows just really isn't in his nature, which I think most of us introverts can 1000% understand & sympathize with

but this is also why I've said in the past I wish someone would interview him using internet-submitted questions (like Audible did once). or just like - even an interview done by a fan. because while I'm sure that kind of thing would make him uncomfortable (re: because I think there's an assumption that all the questions would then be about his personal life) but at the same time I can think of so many fucking actual interesting questions just about his fucking acting process and job and characters that I deperately want to know the answers to that aren't the usual "so you're a method actor because you once voluntarily got waterboarded in the early 2000s, right??" 🙄

I wish he had a social media site *like* tumblr (note: not actually tumblr because then I would have to delete this blog 🫠) where like - there was an ask box. like with the sole purpose of us being able to fucking submit actual decent questions & every once in a while he could answer one or two if he wanted to

I feel like asking him questions on twitter is just like... bothering him & his mentions lmao. whereas a dedicated thing like an askbox is different from a mention or DM. it makes it more like a formal submission lol

so yes, I miss hearing from him when he's not doing interviews, posting on social media etc. too because he is a very interesting person & I have lots of questions I'd like answered but I also like to imagine that when he's not active on social media he's enjoying a chill life, sipping mojitos on a beach or doing a puzzle in a cozy cabin - or whatever you like - and enjoying not being at the beck and call of the public (even though I know that's a filthy rotten lie because the man seemingly never stops working in the background and I wish he would like. chill. just for a bit. for his sake.)

A small story time was when I joined a hiking group to meet new friends. I felt awkward since the people there seem to know each other more. I ended being quiet and take photos while we hiked. I got to talk to this guy who also was kinda new. He kept talking about how he wanted to get married soon and he has everything except a wife. I didn’t really talk back, just saying “ok” until he asked me if I’m the same. Told him no I’m really not. He told me “oh well you have time I guess” I had to say I was in my 30s and if I wanted a big family or something like that I would have started sooner but I didn’t then still don’t now. We were walking in the back and there was space between us and the others in the group. The more he talked the more he would just info dump his feelings like how he truly believed that feminism was causing men to be lonely and violent in society, that women working jobs were destroying families, that divorce should be banned but he also doesn’t want women to just avoid marriage because he’s afraid if banning divorce would lead to just women never marrying. He even joked that the government could also force people to marry and reproduce. I tried to fire back at some point like “You know that women have always worked?”

“No it’s different now. Women shouldn’t be in corporate buildings”

“Yeah remote work is the best”

He didn’t really respond until he asked again if I was seriously going to be single. Or if I’m just hooking up with random men instead. I told him I’m not, that the idea was gross to even say and that he needed to be less crude. He apologized, say he was joking but at some point he stopped and just asked to my face “are you seriously going to waste your womb? That’s selfish for a lot of interfile couples” it was such a surreal feeling. He started again to talk about how I was given a womb and that womb meant I had to be feminine and submit to male authority. That to have a uterus automatically means I’m weaker and less capable so men are naturally to lead. Denying that meant I was going against my feminine nature which was due to feminism brainwashing me to be a corporate slave. (I don’t even work in any corporate field) He was going to send me links to something called Evie? Apparently it’s some women’s magazine that he thinks every woman should read and connect with their inner femininity to reject feminism. At that point, others in the group noticed and started to talk to him to defend me since I must of looked shocked. I started to walk away closer to the front and others in the group kept him farther from me until we got back to our cars. This guy still tried to talk me about fertility rates and egg quality because “I needed to know that I don’t have forever, men on the other hand can healthy babies in their 80s and 90s” according to him, while I got my keys. As I got in, I just felt so fed up and had to yell at him that his genes are not good enough to be passed on if no woman chose him yet. He had told me earlier that schizophrenia runs in his family too like his parents, grandparents, and others have it, so I just told him that no one would want that in their family tree and to fuck off. I know that was kinda mean and I feel a bit bad saying that.. He tried to say something else but I drove off and when I got back, I had messages from the people who set up the group ask me about what happened exactly. I told them and I honestly don’t want to go back. They understood and would try to invite me later but this was that guys last chance. I was not the first woman he harassed. He joined and only tried to talk to women and basically hope that one girl would be dumb enough to pity this guy to date him. He wasn’t bad looking either. It’s just his personality and incel adjacent traits.

Also I was told that he made some weird racial comments about me being black and asian that got him in trouble with a few people before we started hiking.

what exactly does ‘fucked around’ mean?

it means everything, from shoving their tongues down each other’s throats and desperate dry humping to tiny sexual favours and big sexual favours to full-on anal sex. the full-on anal isn’t something they’d do often; it’s only happened a handful of times in total, but it has happened. mostly they stuck to blowjobs and handjobs and the like, though.

just because i don’t/won’t explicitly write butt stuff, doesn’t mean my characters/iterations haven’t done it before! it just means that it isn’t for me and, additionally, i’m so inexperienced in it that i wouldn’t feel comfortable attempting to write it either way.

oooh anon i love this question!!! so their dynamic will be explored on a deeper level in my bmb christmas series whenever i finish that monster of a series but it’s also important to note that reader has now, obviously, been thrown into the mix which changes their dynamic a little more (aka dabi pushes back more than he used to). when it was just the two of them, tomura was definitely still in charge, in control, and The Boss, but they were on much more equal footing than tomura and reader are when it comes to dom/sub dynamics. dabi isn’t exactly a sub, but when it comes to tomura, he will submit; does that make sense? he challenged (and challenges) tomura a lot; he will absolutely shove back against things he doesn’t agree with/want to do and dabi fucking hates being told what to do (serious issues with authority), but if it’s tomura, if it’s his boss, and he can’t punch or push or weasel or wiggle his way out of it, then he will do it. it won’t be without a serious fight, though.

all of this is to say: there was a slight power imbalance present in this dynamic at this specific time, with tomura fulfilling more of a dominant role and dabi fulfilling more of a submissive role. for the most part, though, they agreed on sexual matters between themselves, and tomura liked dabi’s playful snarkiness and the challenge he would occasionally present. it was definitely a lot of tomura telling dabi what to do and dabi being like ‘yeah, fuck you’ (in a teasing sort of fashion) and doing it anyway because he wants it, too, and he just can’t help but respond with that sarcastic tone when given something resembling an order.

tomura was definitely not Daddy towards him when it was just the two of them. their sexual relationship was extremely casual and there was little to no romance to it. they were just close, in the most basic sense of the word. they got along well, they understood each other on a deep level, they had the same interests and hobbies (killing n drugs), etc.. tomura obviously still enjoys exerting power and control over dabi since that’s just who he is through and through, straight to his core, and he technically is his boss, but it wasn’t nearly on the level that Daddy tomura exerts extreme control over reader. tomura didn’t care what dabi wore, who dabi fucked around with, what dabi did, where dabi went, how much sugar dabi ate, when dabi went to bed, etc etc etc (tho obviously some of these things change once he’s in an actual, official relationship with him; cue pushback from dabi). it just didn’t bother him at all. they weren’t exclusive in any sense of the word and aside from sex and work duties tomura didn’t care/have much interest in controlling dabi to this extent.

anyways ur last line is soo real. mari reminds me so much of jackie in the sense that they’re literally just sad teen girls!! yes ofc everyone else is too but bc neither really contribute majorly (in both the literal sense of contributing to the group the way nat-as-hunter does, and in the driving the plot sense the way lottie and tai do), their characters feel so much more grounded and real. bc without the possession and dreams and sleepwalking and relationship drama, everything's stripped away and you're just left with a scared teenage girl at the centre, desperate to survive. but mari lives when jackie doesn't bc mari does adapt!! mari moves with the status quo, and mari sides with power. and yet! she doesn't have that power herself! she's shielded by it at times, but she's not holding the shield itself, so ofc it can always be used against her. which is the whole point! nothing she does is enough to save her! mari, to me, feels like a character who barely scrapes by, if that makes sense? or like, a character who is at least never close to being on top. a real 'i submitted the assignment five mins before it was due' beat. the 'i made the cut off, made it into the next round, but ranked in last place' special. aka: she's doomed! she's a car-crash girl!

Critical anon here. Have submitted a fews of asks over the last year about HFW and HZD haha. Unsure if you remember, but I was highly critical of HFW last time I reached out. I was also the anon talking about how HZD was about colonialism, capitalism, etc. Well, I finally finished the game (HFW)! And I have to say...most of the negative thoughts I had before I have completely turned around on. Unsure if it's because I stepped away from the game and came back, but maaaannnnn I really do think that the game ultimately rules even though the end comes up a bit short.

Something about the combat and all it's systems wasn't clicking with me initially, but once I came back it finally clicked and became my dopamine. (The same happened to me with HZD tbh) I really recommend playing it on performance mode on PS5! They updated it lately and it makes the gameplay really shine while making the world feel way more immersive at 60 frames per second.

ANYWAY! Hope you are doing good and thanks for the last like year and a half of answering my sometimes obnoxious and confrontational asks as well as providing a space for the HZD and HFW fandom! This blog really did actually improve my enjoyment of both games. I DO THINK THE BAD THING SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ANOTHER CHARACTER THOUGH. ITS BS. ALSO THE TALANAH QUEST IS STILL SO DISAPPOINTING. Also good god the soundtrack slaps

HELL YEAH FRIEND!!! Couldn't be happier to hear you came out of HFW enjoying it much more than you did at the beginning. :)

I totally agree that the gameplay and combat and new 60fps updates are just bonkers good--coming from someone who is Not good at video games, that's the last thing I expected to take away as a highlight of the Forbidden West experience. I thought it would be a more neutral aspect for me, but the gameplay (and that sexy sexy haptic feedback) was what honestly kept/keeps me going with it. It makes the world fun to immerse yourself and just exist in. For me, the postgame clean-up was more enjoyable than the main quest line, and this all was a major contributor to that.

And, of course, the soundtrack. Holy hell. Oleksa really put his whole back into it, didn't he? What are everyone's favorite tracks?? It's gotta be "Shoulders of Giants" or "Trinity" for me.

On my end, the narrative misfires and the ignored opportunities and the very specific personal disappointments are still keeping it from being the experience I hoped it would be. But it's been nearly six months now (time isn't real!!!) and I'm coming to terms with the hope that this is just the awkward middle installment of what will round out to be a fantastic trilogy. And regardless of my irritation with the story, the Horizon world is one I just can't help but be invested in and enthusiastic about. Makes me so thrilled to hear you say my silly little posts have been a net positive for the fandom--that's all I ever want to be!!!

Haha I had a feeling once it was clear BH weren’t happening (at least in the way they want), they would try to pin it on Cole. Well can she please explain if Cole is the Bully why does Cole seem to avoid them and their homes/events for the most part (with sometimes in the past KJ has been an exception). Yet many of the cast seem to show up where Cole and his friends hang out. If he was such a bully why would they do that. As you, petals and previous anons have said, try to at least make your bs be consistent and make sense. Further, there is no evidence of Cole bullying Lili other than your fake insiders but we do have Lili pulling on his shirt while he looks hella uncomfortable and as you said her throwing something at him hard on camera. Where is your evidences jmas ?

Oh yeah.....and LBR, it was always moar of KokeJ glomming onto Cole than the other way around, so yeah....funny how everybody is desperate to chill with the evvolll bully. Also love the back to Luke was a saint, narrative.....cuz, yes, it's sad he died, but nooo....

Meanwhile, their allusions to Lipstick Alley (even moar hilarious as a credible source, 5 bitter lesbians sulking cuz Cole gets moar pussy than they do....while still preferring PP with dudes over chicks....cuz, LBR, just usual self inserting PPstans) sent me searching for some info there....Andddddd.....

I continue to loooovvvvveee how reality and time keep proving them all wrong:

Apparently in fall 2020 Cole was "put on notice to shape up or ship out" by Plaiderdale.....they "didn't know if this meant clean up/get sober, stop fucking around with endless wimmins or lose weight, but it was def totes true!!!".

This was also, apparently, merely a twitter rumor and, ofc, complete bullshit.

I was also FASCINATED to learn I was then sending rumors to DM, way before I sent the one about GymD cheating (no, I didn't, just saying)...including how Cole and PP were always splitting up during hiatus, but would then reconcile once the show resumed, cuz Pee Arr...AND that other, moar knowledgeable "insiders" had contradicted this, but DM refused to publish it....

Ummm.....dudes, while, yes, we now all KNOW they were, apparently, endlessly splitting up (as confirming by RAS, himself), I am the last person to have everrrrr stated it was remotely "for Pee Arr"....plus, yes, clearly, they did only last as long as they did, because secluded/on the same show/etc (as Cole himself alluded to recently), in no way was it pretend or following any sort of schedule. And we know they spent time together during hiatuses...(unlike the rest of the cast).

AND this was before I even followed DM....and only earlier this AM, I asked how one submits shit there in the first place....

I am also, apparently, "insane/crazy" entirely because I prefer Cole to PP....which, dude..

A) in no way does preferring one celeb, for whatever reason make one "insane"

B) Honestly, again, why TF would you prefer PP, who gleefully shares her assholery, substance abuse, promiscuity (which is entirely her business, buuuutt....if you criticize Cole for imaginary shit, you gotta drag her for real) and nutbar antics, as well as shilling her cult and generally being a fairly shitty person over Cole, who's a perfectly decent guy? Because he's "an abuser"----which is the unsubstantiated/wholely debunked defamation by a bitter, fully admitted as mentally ill ex? Or is because he dumped that loon and the next loon, when he finally found the strength to do so?

I mean, really, at most/worst, you could say he haD terrible taste in partners, gravitating towards, literally, nu versions of his hot mess mommeee....which he seems to have admitted (at least to himself) and worked on, ultimately breaking the pattern....

Which is to be lauded....

C) I'm also NOT the one making up shit (both IRL and on the show) and then pretending I "got it from an insider", only to be fully disproven, over and over again....I've long been moar towards doing the detective work, myself...anyway....In fact, shouldn't the "crazy" peeps be the ones who keep being outed as full bore liars?

Anywho, soft hour is open. I want to know your top 3 “uWu snatching/just hits you in the feels” jikook moments. The ones off the top of my head that never fails to make me ☺️🥺😭 (and not in that order but a disgusting mix of all those emotions at the same time) are (also, in no particular order):

1) gimbap Vlive, that moment where jimin nudges his head against jungkook’s, asking again “how do you want your eggs?” and jungkook’s SOFT giggle (gosh, I love when they are being such dorks messing with eachother 🥺)

2) that one concert where jungkook turns around only to cry harder and jimin wiping his tears for him (ughh. What more do I have to say? 🤧)

3) that one bday message to jimin. the one with ‘sorry’ after every line (yeah idk that one just gets me. Just undeniable sweetness overload)

So…looking forward to your list of ONLY 3! Okay? Just. Three. :P

And p.s. I am loving all the positive engagements and discussions happening here. I’m impressed by all the different kinds of asks you are getting, with some being much more thought provoking (well, thought provoking for a nincompoop like me). I wouldn’t even know where to begin answering those asks! But you are so good at articulating how you feel in your replies, and it’s been really interesting lurking around your blog and seeing what kind of ask you get hit with. Anyway, keep it up! I love soft hours 😭 thank you for letting me participate because it's not always soft up in here lmao. But three? ONLY THREE?!

1. Same as you, when Jimin gets all up in Jungkook's face for not being more specific. 💔 Literally a what the hell, not while I'm eating! moment. This moment and D3 Jikook are on the same level of suspicious for me.

2. In the Japanese interview where Jungkook speaks for Jimin in a question addressed to Jimin, and he says that Jungkook is the one that makes him happy? I AM SO SOFT. He doesn't often do stuff like this (and this is pretty relevant to an upcoming ask that I'd received), which explains why I LOST MY MIND when it happened.

3. My last moment is kind of the odd one out because I think it was a fan cam that caught it, but it's when they're done with the choreography, and before moving off-stage, Jungkook clearly waits for Jimin to take his hand before taking off. I don't know if there was any context behind it (e.g., was it too dark for Jimin? Though this seems unlikely), but it looked like an extremely tender gesture for an environment that they would be comfortable in and know how to navigate well enough. Admittedly, I project a lot when I watch this because it reminds me of my partner who will do this when we're in a crowd, for example, and when I tell you THE WAY my heart flips when he does this. It's so alpha energy (and I don't mean in an ABO way, please keep that away from me lmfao), and I die every time it happens.

Akaashi's been stressed. 

With mid-terms approaching in less than a week, he's scared that his scholarship won't last. Balancing college, work and expenses felt easy at first—spoilers, it's not. Living alone in a shabby apartment with couples as his neighbors was already hard, and on top of that, the only entertainment in his life was that one novel he decided to bring back from home(along with his phone, but he really doesn't like being on it much). 

So yes, Akaashi Keiji was a sleep-deprived college student, whose life almost ran on coffee, and his will to continue on with his studies was slowly dying. Without Bokuto by his side, he didn't have anyone to keep him grounded. Everything was dull. Anyone would think it's the opposite, because Akaashi is supposed to be the level-headed intelligent boy whereas Bokuto was the obnoxious yet welcoming friend. They used to work on a tandem; Bokuto being the one who calmed him down when his anxiety leveled up, and Akaashi doing the same for his owl-themed friend. 

He hadn't felt more lonely in the past four years.

Until today, when for the first time in weeks, Akaashi ended up laughing out of pure joy. Well, not exactly pure joy, he felt bad for the person who got coffee spilled on their hair in the café line, but it was still atrociously hilarious to him. For the first time in almost forever, he was happy(the guilt was seriously downing him, but he laughed anyway). 

What a wacky morning indeed, he thinks to himself. The doubt-solving sessions are almost of no help during his lectures. He wonders to himself why he's even paying for them—because the teacher wouldn't listen to people's questions, and just ramble about how Shylock decided to scheme out a revenge plan in the Merchant of Venice. 

He sighs for almost the hundredth time in the same day, making his way to the library. If he planned this out correctly, he had a full day to study. Without motivation to, that is. Groaning, the gunmetal-eyed boy strolls over to the back of the library, where almost always a certain seat is empty, and he usually has the place to himself.

Emphasis on 'usually'. 

Because if today couldn't get more hectic, someone was sitting on the other side of the table. His shoulders immediately droop at the thought of having to share his usual spot with someone, but he walks over anyway because he doesn't have the time to procrastinate anymore. With less than a week left, he has to memorize almost half of the intentions behind the stupid characters of Shakespeare's play's actions. And he also has to prepare four essays in that amount of time. 

Akaashi opens up his laptop, his eyes focused on the screen as he types his essay while thinking. He's trying his best, but his mind wanders to his deskmate, who's sitting across from him and is humming. With earphones on, and a white shirt with a slight brown stain on it, he recognizes this person. 

"You were the one that accidentally got coffee in their hair," he points out. They look up at him, their eyes widened as they remove their earbuds one by one and ask, "You saw that?" 

"Yeah, I was actually in line with you," he chuckles, "Unfortunate, really. Thankfully the other person's coffee wasn't hot."

"Nope, they just managed to ruin my favorite hoodie," you groan, putting your earphones in your bag swiftly as you say, "I'm [L/N] [Y/N], currently having an existential crisis because of exams."

"Akaashi Keiji," he mumbles back, "Almost dead because of sleep-deprivation."

Somehow suddenly, he thinks that maybe his life wasn't so dull. He thinks of the possibilities he has with you, and that maybe, you might just turn out to be a better friend than he thought. 

And that, you do.
