Drew the socks lol
Will draw Father at a later date.
For a bit of background about the Father Mew - it’s one of the Mr. Mews in the Mew Roulette for my stream.
[Image Id: A woman with platinum blonde hair tied back in a ponytail stands above the viewer, looking down at them with her arms crossed and her red-brown eyes glowing while holding a black cat stuffed animal. She’s dressed in a white dress shirt, blue vest, white dress pants, blue dress shoes with a white suit jacket resting on her shoulders. Her necktie is purple and blue, and her socks are barely visible, showing a white and teal diamond pattern with light blue stitching.
The black cat stuffed animal has bright pink eyes, a long dirty blonde wig tied with a blue fluffy hair tie, two miss-matched rainbow arm warmers, and a bright pink tail warmer. Behind her, abstract darkened tall city buildings loom above her, with blue skies and white fluffy clouds circling high above.]

For the first time in a long while, I got to go to a white elephant gift exchange this December! We had a low price ceiling and my practically wins out over any practical joke sensibilities every time, so on the designated shopping day I left my local overstock store with a nice chopstick set, some fancy (not at all mess-free) popcorn, and a dream.
When I was growing up, my mom was an intrepid homeschooling parent who loved event planning, valued cultural exploration, and had married into a Japanese family. Multiple times - sometimes in the setting of a multicultural fair, at least once as a kind of class party (with celebratory takeout at the end) - she faced teaching large groups of children how to use chopsticks quickly and with as little cost and cleanup as possible.
Her answer was popcorn! It's edible, so you get the full motion down, and lightweight but large enough for less coordinated sticks to pinch. It has tons of nubbins to grab and widely varied shapes to experiment with. Specifically, we used air-popped kernels, without oil or toppings, so when it gets overzealously crushed or bounces away and gets missed by a broom, it's basically biodegradable styrofoam.
What I'm saying is, this is my mom's fault. Other than the choice to draw so many hands in one afternoon on the same day as the party, while also baking a snack. That's all me. This primer was delivered in the format of a tiny booklet (if you look up an "eight page zine" that's also a method I learned from my mom, to turn single-sided misprints into notepads), with fewer jokes and tips than I'd have liked because I simply did not have time to transcribe a hashi rest fold or hairstyle. But reformatted (for Mastodon) it looks fairly respectable.
Lengthy image descriptions and full poster format under the cut.
[ID: A title page reads "How to Use Chopsticks" in all caps. The words "without too much mess" are between two straight, orange lines, which start with round points at the left, evoking chopsticks, and end in flared shapes of a silhouetted splash on the right. Below the lower line are the words "by CJ Gladback." All the text is in black, the background is white but appears light orange due to a repeating geometric watermark pattern of CJ's logo in orange overlaid on the whole image; her handle on most sites is included once on each of the following spreads: @cjgladback
Next is the first spread of four illustrations with their instructions. On the left half of page are two line drawings of a right hand holding one and then two chopsticks, with the text, "The first stick rests on the side of your ring finger's nail and the flesh between your thumb and index finger. Your middle finger's pad holds it securely while it can slide against your thumb as your hand changes posture in use. The second stick is held between the knuckle of your thumb and the middle section of your index finger. This is the one you move to change angles; it may touch but doesn't really rest on the middle finger's tip." In orange, two arrows indicate the rest points for the first stick while small hashes emanate from the points pressed on the middle and ring fingertips and under the thumb's joint holding the top stick. On the right upper quadrant of the page is the text "Hold them close to parallel to scoop." A hand holds two sticks poked into a bowl of rice between the viewer and the palm; a series of parallel orange lines emphasize the space between the sticks. The remaining quadrant's text reads, "Press with your index finger to pinch firmly." This hand is holding an indistinct rounded shape in its chopsticks, with an orange arrow indicating the rotation of the index finger's tip to press the top stick's point toward the bottom's.
Next is the final spread of the pamphlet. The upper right text reads, "Practice with something medium sized and low mess like (air-popped) popcorn." A single piece of popcorn is held in disembodied chopsticks above a full popcorn bowl, with several kernels fallen to the surface below it. Text below reads, "Pick up your dishes to bring close to your mouth to scoop the harder to grab foods." An implied tilted bowl of food (fried rice or porridge with diced pieces) protrudes off the page, covering only the lower left corner. Close-up chopsticks have their points buried in the food and their lines fade out toward the right. The final black text, underlined by two orange chopstick shapes, reads, "but most of all, do what feels comfortable and eat well!" In orange in the lower right corner, the parenthetical "(and maybe knit a scarf)" is followed by a small orange drawing of a steaming bowl of noodles and sliced egg with a noodle line trailing toward two upward angled sticks with loopy hashes indicating knit fabric hanging from them.
The final image is the full booklet in its web format, with the three previous images from this post stacked vertically. Some orange lines have been added between what were pages in the print booklet, to aid reading flow. /end ID]

[if alt text is not accessible for you, every image in this post is a thin dull purple line divider with a slightly darker dull purple bow in the center, resembling a bow tie. end id.]
welcome to my blog!
i'm dexter, and you can find more information about me here. i'm 23 and i mainly use he/him, ey/em, and it/its pronouns, but any other pronouns that are not she or they are good too!
i also run @mogai-headcanons, where i made edits of folks' mogai/liom/etc. headcanons, and @neopornouns, a request blog like this one for 18+ terms, and my main blog is @pierz.
please read my dni before following me and read my general rules and blog rules/open requests before requesting!
if you're interested, you can also read my request whitelist to see what requests i'll be most excited about!
my requests are currently closed ! here is every request currently in my inbox. my queue currently posts 2 times a day.
here's a quick list of frequently asked questions — i recommend you look through this before asking me a question, since i get a lot of asks and may ignore yours if it's answered here!
q: what program do you use to make your flags/edits and how? a: i use gimp on desktop! here's a simple flag tutorial i made and a basic flag splicing tutorial for multi-flag icons.
q: what's your header/icon? a: my icon is floofty fizzlebean from 'bugsnax' over the rikagender flag and my header is an edit i made of several bugsnax (scoopy, cinnasnail, instabug, charmallow, crystal sweetiefly, chocolant, and kwookie) in a similar format to the 'bugsnax' loading screen!
q: are you alright with requests involving [insert media]? a: if it's not in my general rules linked above, probably yes! if you're concerned for a specific reason (source content, shitty creator, etc.) please let me know in your ask; i don't know what's problematic about every piece of media!
q: i don't see my request in the inbox! can i resend it? a: yes! just resend it and let me know that you sent it previously while requests were open.
q: can i put your terms on [insert wiki] or [insert other social media site]? a: yes, as long as you credit me and do not reword my definitions, add additional definitions, etc.
q: can you tag [insert thing]? a: yes, i'll try my hardest to remember! feel free to remind me if i forget.
q: how long will it take for my request to be posted? how long will it take for you to get to my request? a: i can't definitively say, sorry! i try to make it so the queue has a month's worth or less of posts in it, but as for getting to your request, i don't really know for a number of reasons.
q: [insert post] should be tagged as eyestrain! a: thanks for letting me know! i struggle to determine what is eyestrainy a lot of the time, so i tag things as 'eyestrain' when i'm certain and 'potential eyestrain' when i'm not. if you're photosensitive, i recommend blocking both tags to be safe.
q: can i use one of your edits somewhere? a: yes, and i would strongly prefer if you credit me somewhere if you do.
q: are you alright with spam likes/reblogs? a: yes, and i appreciate your support and enthusiasm!
q: [insert nice thing] a: i cherish you so much and your ask probably will sit in my inbox forever along with all the other incredibly sweet asks i've received over the course of this blog!
q: [discourse] a: please Do Not.
lastly, here's a few resources you may find useful!
my taglist application, for if you want me to tag you in my coining posts/edits
my deviantart for flag templates and symbols
the pride-flags deviantart, which has a ton of high-res flags for mogai terms and more flag templates/symbols

"Someone asked me to edit their ID into my undescribed post, so I reblogged the ID to my blog! That's good enough, right?"
[Plain text: "Someone asked me to edit their ID into my undescribed post, so I reblogged the ID to my blog! That's good enough, right?"]
So, this is not a misconception I fault anyone for having. But I am politely begging you to actually add it to the orignal.
Why? Well, here's a random piece of fanart I described a couple months ago, because it was cute and I wanted to share it while maintaining an accessible blog. And here is what I see when I open the notes as if I were looking an ID, and sort reblogs by "comments only":
[ID from alt: a blank reblogs section, saying: "No reblogs with this filter yet. Try another filter?" End ID.]
Now, is this what everyone else sees when they open the notes of this post? I genuinely don't know, and that's part of the problem! But I suspect, after comparing notes with other people who write IDs, that a majority of people checking the notes don't see my ID either! Hence, they either have to expend extra energy to write their own description — or if they don't have that energy, because so many of us ID writers are disabled ourselves, then they have to choose between reblogging an undescribed post, or not reblogging it at all.
So what can you do? Edit the ID into the original post! Of course, include an ID from the start if you're comfortable writing them and/or getting help writing them — but if not, adding them when provided is the next best thing! You're also doing a big favor to anyone who struggles to remember to check the notes for a description, because of ADHD or any other memory issues.
TL;DR: We all know Tumblr is not a functional website. Hence, those of us who write the descriptions need the help of the people who post the images, in order to make our shared online communities accessible. Editing the ID into the original post is a way to guarantee the description won't be lost to the void.
"Someone added an ID to my post, but they didn't tell me to add it to the original. Should I still add it?"
[PT: "Someone added an ID to my post, but they didn't tell me to add it to the original. Should I still add it?"]
Yes! Yes yes yes! Include credit if you're nervous, but every person who writes IDs wants to make the post as accessible as possible! If you can't write IDs yourself, this is the single next most impactful thing to make your online communities more accessible!
[ID: two mock-up Tumblr posts to illustrate adding an ID from the notes to the root post. A blog named "your-blog" posts an image of text reading "something cool you posted" with the caption "check out this cool image I made!" In the notes, the blog "image-describer" reblogs with an ID, which is highlighted. This version of the post is labeled: "original post, reblogged via ID writer." The second version of the post is from "your-blog" again, where they've added the ID directly under the image, with the same caption below the ID. This version is labeled "updated root post, with ID copy-pasted. End ID.]

Since almost all the art and pictures I come across on Tumblr have no alt text, I figure maybe people don't understand what it's for or know how to use it. Here's an explanation!
What is alt text?
Some people (mostly blind people, but it can be useful for other disabilities too) use programs called screen readers to navigate the computer and read text aloud. That's why pictures need to have a text description (alt text), for the screen reader to read aloud. Alt text is usually hidden and just there for screen readers, though on this site, anyone can click the button in the bottom left corner to access it on any image that has it.
Why is it important?
Alt text makes the internet accessible for anyone using a screen reader. I used a screen reader for a while, so I can tell you how much it sucks to try and use social media only for every post to be like,
"This is the funniest thing I've ever seen!" (image with no alt text)
"This info is so important, everyone please read this!" (image with no alt text)
And then all the responses are agreeing and everyone is having fun and being social, but you can't join, you have no idea what's going on, you're left out of the fun, the cool stuff, the funny stuff, the important stuff, all of it.
How to add alt text?
On this site, when you upload an image, just click the three dots on the bottom right corner and click the option to update image description. You can also add it later by editing the post, if you forget when posting.
What to type?
I'm not the authority on alt text, so I can only give advice based on my experience as a sighted person and what people have told me.
One advice I've seen is to describe it like you're describing it to someone over the phone.
I think a good method is to start by stating the general, then moving onto details. I might start with, "Digital art of an octopus merman," and then go on to describe the pose, the emotion/facial expression, the body, the hair, the colors, the background.
Every screen reader user has different preferences, I've talked to people with completely opposing opinions. But usually someone can move on if they find there's too much description, whereas there's nothing they can do if there's not enough. So I lean toward over-describing.
Additionally, make sure you include anything referenced in your post. If you're just sharing a screenshot of a group of characters, you probably won't describe the shape of each of their noses. But if you say, "I love Bob's nose!" now you should still describe the overall picture but also include the shape of his nose in your description.
That also applies to things like, "This tree looks how I feel." If your alt text just says, "A leafy tree," that doesn't explain the feeling. "A leafy tree that appears to be hunched over with sagging branches, looking tired," is more helpful.
If there's text, include the text. I also like to give context (e.g. screenshot of a tweet). You can even use websites like this one to extract text for you.
Don't just put the word "image." Don't use alt text to credit artists/photographers. Don't use it for jokes, unless the joke is genuinely helping to describe the image.
And remember, trying is always better than not trying, even if your description isn't perfect!

here's a quick list of frequently asked questions — i recommend you look through this before asking me a question, since i get a lot of asks and may ignore yours if it's answered here!
q: what program do you use to make your edits and how? a: i use gimp on desktop! here's a basic flag splicing tutorial for multi-flag icons and a video of my edit-making process (though it's only the main gimp screen, not the menus i'm using)
q: what's your header/icon? a: my header is a compilation of edits from over the course of my blog and my icon is sunburst from 'my little pony: friendship is magic' over the excemelle flag!
q: are you alright with requests involving [insert media]? a: if it's not in my general rules linked above, probably yes! if you're concerned for a specific reason (source content, shitty creator, etc.) please let me know in your ask; i don't know what's problematic about every piece of media!
q: how many characters can i send in one request? how many terms? a: as many as you want, within reason! i’ve currently managed to fit 95 characters into one post and 245 flags into one icon, and though i do like a challenge, i’d prefer that no individual icon in a request have more than 200ish flags and that you stick to 50ish characters! those are flexible numbers though.
q: i don't see my request in the inbox! can i resend it? a: yes! just resend it and let me know that you sent it previously while requests were open.
q: i forgot something in my request, want to add extra details, want to change certain details, or want to remove certain details! a: send me an ask letting me know what request is yours and what you want changed and i'll do that!
q: can you tag [insert thing]? a: yes, i'll try my hardest to remember?
q: can i use one of your edits somewhere? a: yes, and i would strongly prefer if you credit me somewhere if you do.
q: are you alright with spam likes/reblogs? a: yes, and i appreciate your support and enthusiasm!
q: [insert headcanon] that you posted goes against a canon identity! a: thank you for letting me know! i don’t want to post things that erase already existing representation. i may ask for sources to verify if i can’t find some on my own.
q: [insert headcanon] goes against [insert thing in your rules]! a: again, thank you for letting me know! i don’t always know the sources i get requests for and tend to assume that people won’t send in things that go against the rules, so i don’t usually check.
q: can i submit art for you to use for [source without canon art]? a: yes! i’m happy to use your own art or art from an artist who is alright with their work being used with credit (including picrews). a2: this also applies to the adventure zone (since i only don’t do requests for it due to problematic canon art), aus (such as homestuck bloodswaps, etc), and similar situations!
q: [insert nice thing] a: i cherish you so much and your ask probably will sit in my inbox forever along with all the other incredibly sweet asks i've received over the course of this blog!
q: [discourse] a: please Do Not.

Rant about Hatticc/Waste-of-energy (with their toxic partner and their friends)
TW: Bullying/Su1¢1d3/Mention of NSFW Art
For who don't know who's hatticc (but I called them waste)
Waste is one of first online friend that I can talk too a lot, we both in the same fandom (baldi basic), we and them, we met in deviantart and I made them a gift and then we art rade each other and we have fun
And I did met a friend of waste (well their user name is hella weird but let's called him red since he likes the color red) so red ask me to get discord which I did download the app and I never felt so happy that I can chat with friends, we chat, we share art each and we VC (voice call) like its was the best time of my life but until things went down hill...
So on the beginning of 2019, they become a bit jerky like they talk very dry talk to me and talk about my grammar, that i wasn't text all good like it doesn't matter how i talk, but it's mostly come from their partner (nub) they both know each other since kid (which basically they live in the same country)
So their partner also talk trash about my grammar and my art , and the more days of being with them, the both of them starting to become more selfish and toxic
They bullied me for being emo and tell self harm and suicide jokes around me and the worst part that waste make a drawing of me offing myself like WTF!? JUST BECAUSE IM EMO ITS DOESN'T MEAN THAT I HARM MYSELF EVERYDAY!!! YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IM GOING THROUGH!!!
And they made fun of my drawings and i try to tell them to stop and it isn't funny but they like no and still continue it, and pretend that they don't understand me and tell me how bad my grammar is and get this, they both live in Italy like FUXKING ITALY!!! THEY BOTH BORN IN ITALY, SPEAK ITALIAN AND YET TO MAKE FUN OF MY ENGLISH GRAMMAR LIKE THEY FLEX THEIR ENGLISH SO MUCH LIKE WHAT!? PEOPLE DONT HAVE THE PERFECT GRAMMAR ALRIGHT!?
And about the NSFW art, so we were minors at the time and they draw NSFW and so do I, yep they draw NSFW
And they make alt accounts so they don't add me!! They keep saying that "oh we don't have more room sorry [dead name]" BITCH YOU MAKE ALT ACCOUNT JUST REMOVE THE ALT ACCOUNTS OF THE SERVER, DONT PRETEND THAT YOU DON'T HAVE ROOM
I was actually so pissed off about how they treated me like they are so selfish, so show offie, only care about themselves and I did make drawings for them but they keep saying "oh sorry I was so busy with something" LIKE HOW!!?? HOW YOUR BUSY WITH TALKING YOUR TOXIC BITCH !?
And I finally did it that I finally left their stupid server and deleted discord which was the worse experience ever
And in 2020, when Deviantart announced that the old Deviantart layout was gonna retired and replace with the most lamest layout that makes waste to move to tumblr and they didn't know about that I don't have Tumblr account haha
And they no longer in the baldi basic community, they are in the hat the time or whatever that game is
So I remember saw a post about that they meet a user and so here the post (since their account is deactivated, bummer...)
Like w o w, you finally taste your own medicine huh?
That you LEGITIMATELY DID THE SAME DID THAT YOU DID TO ME AND SO YOUR PARTNER AND IM GLAD GOT WHAT YOU DESERVE AND THATS HOW I FELT
And I did remember seeing a drawing of different friends that they have like it's show that waste and nub bullying their old friends and get new ones but they are bullying the new ones
Like wow how nice you are and you like everybody which a fuxking lie that they made
But I think in either late 2023 or 2024 they deactivated their deviantart account
Which I should save their art and like...i actually like their art style is nice and all but they are a bully and same with their partner
I only like their art not them
So yea...maybe I will try to get my old discord account back cuz there is a server that they use to have but they all left lol
I can't believe that people who support them and they don't know what they did and I don't know if waste changed like if I got their discord name
And I will see if they change or not
If they say their sorry then I will give them 2nd chance but their are getting one chance
So yea...I just wanna talk about this since my other discord friends are busy with stuff...
#okay i know is pride month but i wanna talk about this#i do have screenshots of them but its in my other phone and I can't remember my old doscord account so yeaaa...#rant#personal rant

While we’re on the subject of feel-good comments, thinking of others, and the tumblr dashboard, I noticed in my “Latest Notes” there was a reblog today of a post I’d reblogged and added a manual image description for while reblogging; the person reblogging me added a single tag: #thanks for the ID!
(And, yes, it was one of those posts where the entire post content, and thus the OP’s argument, was a screenshot of text! 🤯)
I sometimes wonder whether I, a person with a following I can count on two hands—and an active following of a couple of mutuals 😂—aka the node on the graph where posts go to die, make a difference when I add a manual image description on a reblog. I now have proof that the answer is a resounding yes. (and for that one person who left the tag, there may be dozens of others who also saw my version of the post and benefitted from the description but didn’t make any comment/tag about it.)
So let’s all keep trying to remember to add image descriptions (aka ALT text) when we upload images, and add manual (in-the-reblog-text) descriptions when we reblog posts with undescribed images. We don’t have to be perfect, we just have to care and try, because somewhere out there in this vast tumblrverse is another human who will benefit from our efforts.

Art account for @andiv3r! Nothing special. Check out my main if you wanna know actual stuff about me.
PLEASE REBLOG MY ART IF YOU LIKE IT! That's the best way to get it seen by others, which makes me really happy :3
Suggestive art will be tagged as #suggestive, unclothed characters will sometimes be tagged as #artistic nudity but most likely nothing will be shown anyway, fandom art will be tagged with whatever fandom it's for.
I mostly post OC and fandom art (main fandoms are Doctor Who, Good Omens, Warrior Cats, Gravity Falls and The Magnus Archives/Protocol but I'm also currently into Dead Boy Detectives and Sherlock & Co., so I might draw some art for those as well) with a few personal pieces about being fat, trans, intersex, aromantic or autistic here and there.
I try to remember to add image IDs all my artwork in the alt text, but if I forget please let me know! Some of my older artworks don't have IDs because I haven't worked my way down to them, so if you scroll really far down and they're missing that's why.
#FINALLY made a pinned post.#pheeeww#going to edit it as i go and make it better but yeag.#pinned post

also before you start the poll, id really appreciate it if you included brief image descriptions for each of the characters. I have a few blind people following me, and I want to reblog accessible polls.
this is a really good reminder actually, thank you!!
I'm actively trying to remember to add image descriptions to all my future bracket posts. for the ADHD/Autism duos bracket I've started using the ALT text feature to add image descriptions, but I don't know if people would prefer the image ID to be in the body of the post like I've seen others do? Any advice on best practise would be really appreciated actually

hihi. I recently went through all our art and tagged it under "#Softbones art." They're still also tagged as "#my art". mostly because.. idk. I don't feel like removing them all and i don't want to be inconsistent
I'm ALSO trying to remember to add image descriptions to our posts. For art or photos the image descriptions will be in the alt text, but for videos which don't have an alt text menu they'll go under the cut. if you notice an image description is wrong or an image is missing one you can lmk! I try to remember but my brain is made of cotton and feathers.
#bone blathers#will respond to our inbox once ive reorganized our closet. prommy#we moved in last april and im STILL unpacking shit. goddamn#HEY LOOK. NEW TAGS! ->#softbones art#my art#image id#described#id in alt text

Hey, I'm trying to be more conscientious about putting image descriptions on the things I'm posting and I was wondering if it's better to have them as a separate text or in the alt text embedded in the image? Thanks for your help!
thank you so much for asking! I'm always happy to talk about this — so happy that my replies get pretty long, in fact — so skip to the bottom if you just wants some examples.
short answer: either is better than none, but both is actually the most accessible to people with different needs.
long answer: there's pros and cons to each. a lot of people who use primarily screen readers like alt text because it's read out immediately, and don't have to hear "image image image" for comics or whatnot before getting to the description, nor mistakenly skip a post because they can't tell yet that it's described. however, tumblr in particular has two problems:
glitch where alt text occasionally fails to save in a draft or gets deleted on reblogs
bad options for displaying alt text directly, which impacts (among others) low-vision people who would want to read alt text with enlarged font, in order to take in details of the image they can't make out by sight (unless using XKit Rewritten's AccessKit, which I will always recommend, but that's not an option for mobile users)
there's also an argument that IDs being invisible to most sighted people doesn't do much to encourage, educate, or remind people to include them, tbh.
so what can you do? one option is to include the same alt text as image description (placing the ID directly under the image, because remember, flow for screen readers is important). I like to lead with "ID from alt," in order to clarify to screen reader users that they can skip the ID, and help differentiate it from the other option I'm about to describe. this should be intuitive, but here's a random example where I did this for a text post meme (link).
option two is to include a short description in the alt text, and a more detailed explanation in-post. this can let screen reader users instantly know that the post is described, and decide whether they're interested in it, but it maintains an in-post description for others to benefit from too. here's an example of me doing this in a post about IDs (link), and here's an example of my mutual describing art like this (link).
are either of these options objectively perfectly correct? no, but few guidelines for IDs really are. the only things I'll add are to not use small text, italics, colored text, etc in image descriptions, since those can induce readability issues for low vision folks. no read mores either, for obvious reasons (annoying and glitchy). as far as I know, indents are fine, and some people like those to make the IDs more visually differentiable.
again, thank you so much for asking! I hope this helps, and it means a lot that you're working on writing more IDs!
