Fixed Signs: "I just don't know you."

Fixed Signs have a terrible habit of being unable to let people in. And they cannot hide it. I cover it shortly here, but today we'll go a bit more in depth.

What do you mean by 'let people in'?

Well, they can let people in, but it's going to take a minute. By minute I mean maybe 1-2 years. Even then these people will possibly still keep some truths or events hidden from you. It won't be on purpose, more likely from habit. However, when these people let you in you are in and engulfed in a special type of love. They will remember special facts about you, hold your deepest secrets, bury a body for you- the best post for this is this post right here.

So wait, fixed signs lie?

Not exactly. When you first meet a fixed sign, some of them are much better at playing nice than others. When forced into a situation or to deal with people they'd rather not, usually two things happen: being extremely blunt without batting an eye or saying the truth without really saying the truth but being awkward enough that you can tell it's a lie. If they can't find a way out of it, just pure silence. Depending on the other modes and house placements in the natal chart, it will either help or worsen how this plays out.

So what's the difference between the signs?

TAURUS

Lovelies...very stubborn. I'm sorry I hate it too, but it's the truth. However, let's break down the whats, hows and the whys, of this stubbornness. Earth signs in general, know what they Do and Do Not want in their life. They assess things in the blink of an eye, because in a way, they're always weighing the value of things in their mind. It's not about money value, but more about if it's worth them putting all their energy and dedication into something that's not worth it. poor example considering the subject but ignore that Think about how when you find something really cute in a shop, and then you see the price and you have to mull it over for a hot minute before you decide to buy it. Earth signs do that, but Much faster.

So! Taurus. There's a reason why the moon is exalted in this sign. These people are So caring to the ones that are in their lives. They are willing to cook for them, let them borrow their stuff, keep millions of memorabilia of them, a whole 'treat yo'self 2011' day--they are willing to provide a second home to those that they truly care for, but the thing is, you gotta get them to warm up to you first huh. Taurus natives don't play with their time investment, mainly because it's also attached to their emotions. The reason why they're always associated with the characteristic of 'Stubbornness' is because they've already picked out the things they've allowed into their lives and now you're showing them something new that they haven't vetted yet??? Nah they're good. Let them observe it for a few weeks and then warm up for it for another ten and maybe they'll learn it's name or something. This also ties in with the issue of familiarity that moreso deals with the moon placement. These natives aren't necessarily stubborn to the full description, but very cautious over what can fuck up their sense of stability in their lives.

If you try and get too close to a Taurus placement too soon, they will straight up tell you to leave them alone, or some other excuse to seem nice. It's not them being mean or blunt, but they don't know you. They are not going to be able to play along with the jokes, or keep up the vibe unless they have other placements that can help them. So to just cut that waste of energy out: 'Hey! Actually I was just about to go to lunch! So sorry! (Why are you talking to me, I don't even know you why are you touching me)'

These natives are very warm and loving, but they are also very blunt and honest. It gets more charming when you actually get to know them, since it's part of their tough-love. They don't hide this part of them and are actually quite loud about it, which is probably why there's such a divide between people loving these placements and being annoyed with them. Honestly I don't have any tips for this one besides: they give you the green light in very sudden honest ways. It's sort of like...whenever you do something or say something a little light goes off in their head like 'yeah......ok yeah they're good' and they'll probably tell you that.

LEO

These natives are honestly your best bet out of the four LMAO. Absolute sweethearts, bless them. They are so full of love and passion, they're usually willing to hand it out to people nearby them if they can. This can be detrimental at some points but, not here to talk about this today. They love when people praise them, so they are more than happy to toss it right back.

So the quirk to this sign is that: they will not risk anything for you. That's the only thing. With fixed placements, they are willing to do absolutely anything for the ones that they love. They go all in for them, but it takes a minute for people to reach that position. With Leo's and those holding Leo placements, they are generally jovial people like I stated. They will greet you first and be the one to get you to come out of your shell and welcome you into their group if you seem shy or seeming alone, but it's all surface level. 'Man today has been super busy huh? How are you holding up? Good good.......You need help carrying some paperwork down the hall? (how much is it- ok cool) Yeah sure no problem.......Oh you forgot your lunch? (let me check how much this food is......that's not too bad if they split it) We're ordering out food right now, it's this much. Do you want some if we split it?', it sort of goes like that. The other thing that will majorly affect how this plays out is what other signs are within their chart. If they have earth influence, they'll act more awkward at first and then majorly switch up gears around people they know and let out that snarky attitude. If they have water influence, they'll be a bit more reserved but more nurturing, air signs are more willing to be detached and reserved, etcetc.

With these natives quite literally giving off the Sun's energy when they interact with people, strangers will be drawn to them and most likely want to befriend them. However, just because Leo's give off such pure energy, that doesn't make them naïve. If you are only an acquaintance with a Leo, I want you to think about some favors they have done for you. I want you to know that they do 20x more for their loved ones without even thinking. They are the type to leave little notes around the house full of love or go all out for presents, which! I've come to find out that those with Leo placements tend to not really like gift giving holidays because it takes away from the personalization of it all, and they mainly like the '!' of when they randomly find a cute gift that makes them think of someone. I've noticed this between me and a few other friends of mine, so that's another thing. They are very loving and passionate people whose hearts buzz when they see the look of joy and contentment on their loved ones faces.

So why would they just let a stranger in immediately.

Don't get me wrong! I wasn't joking when I said this sign would be the easiest. If their friends have given the green light, or you talk to them maybe like, four times and they're fine or you guys have things in common, they'll probably dub you as a friend of theirs, but they are Not just going to meet you once and then put their neck on the line for you immediately. Especially if they start off not liking you. Their passion is strong Both ways.

SCORPIO

This placement is the most interesting but also the most frustrating. These natives are actually pretty extroverted but usually test strangers for quite some time. As quoted by my Scorpio father: "Why is he being so nice to me he don't even know me", that is just kindness are you okay sir. These are the people that are going to just stare at you when you attempt to get to know them beyond greetings, or give you one to two word replies. There is an underlying paranoia to these placements that the other person wants something out of their interaction, so if you're trying to get to know someone with heavy Scorpio influence, just be consistent. If you can prove that you're going to be a reliable/dependable person in their life then they will give that energy back to you 20x more once they let their walls down. Now the funny part is if they're trying to get to know you in which case this is completely different but I do not have the time nor energy to even think about that right now.

Now let's make a very clear distinction: these people can lie but it depends on how they feel about you. Do they adore you? They're not lying, unless they believe it's the best for that moment then maybe like a white lie, but even then I don't think they're really going to lie unless I just know some blunt ass Scorpios. If anything, they will withhold some information until the time is right to tell you, that's the furthest they're going unless other placements are screwing it up. Now they Don't care about you? They're probably lying. Not on purpose, but what do you wanna hear? 'Ok yeah sure (now leave me alone. Get away from me). Someone said I was born in 1980....yeah sure. You found out that was a lie....okay...yeah', they truly don't care how they're seen in your eyes because no energy is being exerted from them to be put into you soooooo??????????? That's the difference. Or they'll just make a bunch of snide ass remarks, it depends on their tolerance that day.

However there is still the issue of them just withholding information in their life from those within their inner circle. It's not on purpose, but the usual reasoning I hear is 'I didn't think it was important', even though it was, in fact, extremely important. Depending on how close you are, an easy little 'are you sure are you sure there's nothing are you positive-' for ten minutes will do the trick. These little facts usually aren't anything detrimental to the relationship, it's mainly things personal within their lives. Whatever house this sign resides over is what the native will keep secret by habit.

Ex; my dad usually takes forever to tell me about his health & his routine changes (6th), my friend has an 8th house sun and Scorpio moon in 11th so I have to initiate things with her usually, another with mercury in 8th and a Scorpio moon in 2nd so they usually struggle to find something 'interesting' to talk about and coming home to packages is a surprise, etcetc

If anything, these natives will be more worried/paranoid about your intentions than you should be of theirs. Their paranoia from past experiences or just overthinking will cause them to let a lot of worries crowd their mind which is why communication, consistency, and reassurance is so very important, on both ends. It can be like pulling teeth sometimes, but it's worth it. Also they're definitely the most likely to be a smart-ass out of the bunch, even more than Aquarius in my experience.

AQUARIUS

Alright, now that my 3rd house moon is done talking about how fundamental communication is...Aquarius placements are major ghosters it's a serious problem I'm so sorry. There was a text post with the chat function where someone straight up said "Ignore the fact that I'm replying 3 years later I'm fine how are you" like same but if that wasn't an Aquarius then I'll delete? I Can Explain Though.

This sign has always been better at looking at things from a broader perspective, and taking into account things as a whole. They don't necessarily apply any of what they said to their own personal lives or problems until someone points it out or they have an 'oh' moment, and even then they might struggle a bit because it's a bit different to go from 'Okay well if this party does this and the other party uses this ability and they put these efforts together, then the problem is solved' to 'Okay my problem is this so I have to go here to do this and then start working on this- oh I have to talk to someone about it too....Hm', so there's a bit of a struggle, which causes that delay, and then the ghosting happens. I mean, besides the fact that sometimes this placement is heavily invested in something that they find to be more important than you at the time.

Taking an example from The Dreamers by Karen Thompson-Walker, there's a character in there named Matthew who had a discussion with another character that was getting uncomfortably close to him and he says: "If I was drowning and two strangers were also drowning nearby. And you had to choose to save either me, or the two strangers, who would you choose? Me? Or the strangers?"

Aquarius tends to pause their emotions whenever they have to sort through decisions or their thoughts. They already sort of struggle whenever trying to clear a path with their own personal issues, they can't sit there and then have to deal with emotions that might fuck that up on top of it. Which is where two major stereotypes come from:

Aquarius is heartless

Aquarius is self-involved (ghost you when you need stuff and come back when they want)

Neither are true, but I can see where they source from, considering they usually don't feel comfortable with openly emoting out of the blue. Since you're here, you probably know Aquarius is a fixed sign. So what does every single fixed sign have in common that I have stated up until now? Passion. It wouldn't suddenly stop with them. They care about so many things it's ridiculous, and that includes the people in their lives, but only the people in their lives. The sign axis exists for a reason, but Aquarius is not as openly giving as Leo is, but just as loving. Definitely on the down-low though haha. They will remember small things about you and surprise you with them when you least expect it. There's a weird (ha-ha) duality with the Leo-Aquarius axis that I love where you can tell where they're Exactly the same if you pay attention but their special asses just HAVE to do it so differently I love them. Them caring so much also ties into why they tend to disappear off the face of the earth. They either don't give a shit about something or hyper-fixate like hell. So there's two possible reasons as to why you might be ghosted by an Aquarius: either they found a hyper-fixation and when they come back you'll hear all about it don't worry, or they're trying to figure out something personally and they really don't want to bother you with all of the issues because they don't even know themselves and they don't want to drag you down into the hell that they're going through. It's an act of care in their eyes even if it's annoying the hell out of you <3 Just let them know next time and just...give em some time to practice LMAO.

Besides that, this placement is naturally just a private and hard to grasp sign in the sense that, sometimes they just want to do something and don't necessarily think too much about it? Like 'Ok I'm gonna go to another country I'm gonna see you in two wee- Oh you didn't know.....Ok well I'm gonna be in Spain so um-' It really be like that. They also prefer to have the people they want in their business and those people only, and even then sometimes they won't really know what's going on (re: check above). For this sign, it's closer to Taurus where they will definitely tell you to fuck off. They have no problem telling you the status of your relationship, and that they feel absolutely nothing for you, because it's the truth, so leave them alone. For this placement...honestly it's very interesting because as I've noticed it's a very strong sign. A friend has fire and water placements, but her Aqua moon is SO damn evident whenever she's annoyed or bothered by someone it drowns out her other placements. My brother's (although unconfirmed time) cool detached energy is coming from his aqua moon and mercury, overwhelming his water placements. Then, I always get attention even if I put myself in a corner and don't make a sound and no matter how blunt and honest I am with people, I have found out that they find it endearing in some way (which I Also have found out that I have a resting c: face haha help). So just like it's characteristic, wherever Aquarius is in your chart, it's going to be loud and make itself known one way or another. So I'm not sure if any other placements will affect this one haha. Let me know your experience if only have one aqua placement!

FINAL THOUGHTS

At the end of the day, we should aspire to take in some traits of fixed signs. Not their, intense, will cut off my hand for you like we're in a saw game trait. Maybe drink some water and take a breather it's okay. However, the pure endearing love and passion that they have for the ones in their life, their hobbies, their vetting process, and how careful they are about their world...their safe space. If you know someone who has fixed placements, give them a hug and let them know how much you appreciate them, because they sure as hell appreciate you. Top 5 wrestlers any place and why?

nick gage (gcw). the why part of this is so long. like...how to explain things here. nicky is my favorite wrestler ever. i say with my whole chest that i do not think there is another (at least american) wrestler that has as strong a connection to their fans as nick gage does. for a lot of us being mdk, being in the gang, means something very real to us. it's a place we belong. when you look a guy in his eyes & tell him how his silly lil stabby glass breaky rasslin & gang saved your life & he genuinely responds back to you "i wouldn't be alive without you guys either" there's something truly special. nick gage has such a a special, genuine connection with his fans & he is truly a wrestler above most. i could talk a lot about this, i could really go into it, but i'll leave it here. nicky just is special. also he explicitly supports the queer community, & makes his gang & shows a safe space for us (like it's not just him at gcw doing this though).

jon moxley (aew, gcw). when i started watching wrestling it was during the kinda closing of the omega/mox feud. i hadn't really find the wrestler i connected with yet, i had a bunch i liked though. can't remember the first mox match but i do remember just very easily finding myself invested in mox. the exploding barbed wire deathmatch is the most significant match to me as a wrestling fan. everything he does is good, even the bad stuff. he doesn't exactly have what i say nick gage has but his genuine self really connects with people. also mox's love of deathmatches/hardcore is what lead me to discover that kind of wrestling which lead me to wanting to be that kind of wrestler. so mox gave me my dream & love for wrestling.

bryan danielson (aew, roh). i know everyone's like of course its cuz u think he's hot. FALSE. well, i do but everyone on my list is hot. i actually kinda hate having bryan on my top five list because it feels generic (sorry bry but you seemed too hyped to be that good) but kenny vs bryan seriously changed my definition of good wrestling. i used to not get technical wrestling (& i really wanted to bc it's nicky's favorite kinda wrestling) but bryan changed that. then i stumbled on bryan vs kenny vs tyler black which just...fucking slaps. bryan became one of my favorites before he was even stalking mox. i also like the man behind the wrestler a lot.

minoru suzuki (everywhere). this is the coolest motherfucker in pro wrestler. not only is he cool as fuck but the dude has just such a fucking understanding of wrestling. not just the moves & the holds & the whatever. no, suzuki gets pro wrestling. like seriously having read some of his shoot interviews & his in character ones, the guy has such a mind for it. the way suzuki brings legitimacy to the sport of pro wrestling is fucking amazing. not only that but suzuki works to use his credibility to legitimize others. effy v suzuki is a good example. it's still a fucking effy match but suzuki brings his vibe to it as well. the dude is who i look to when i want to understand something about pro wrestling that's maybe just not clicking. he also is very humble & just loves what he does. it shows. i just really respect & admire suzuki. ive been so fucking fortunate. i saw him 3 times in 2 days during which he earned his first US title (roh tv championship), & that's like...such a thing for me. like i start to cry thinking about it, it makes me so happy. his chops sound unearthly (like legit not of this earth) in real life.

eddie kingston (aew, chikara, deffy, njpw). i mean...like yall been on my blog. yall know how i feel about eddie. ive spent the last like day running my mouth about eddie which is fitting since all he does is run his mouth which is what i love about him. i could write an essay. but i'll break it down like this. the way he and mox are, the players tribune article, his love & influence from king's road, the genuine way he expresses himself, & his sense of style are why eddie is one of my all time greats.

If you dont ship/stan something popular good for you, hang out w your rare pairs and fall in love w your minor characters, you want to write terrible fucking incoherent anti-metas about a character that's very popular, go ahead DO IT, literally nothing should stop you, it is not problematic to HATE an objectively good character w absolutely no reason, it's not problematic to LOVE a scumbag character for the shallowest reason, it's not problematic to condone evil acts done by your fav character and praise them and love them for it, it is not problematic to want a character killed simply bc they mildly grate you, it is not problematic to do or feel anything about a character as long as your aware that this character or ship cannot be removed from their fictional world and you are simply judging a fictional object who's actions and principles are bound to the fictional world they exist in and cannot in any way affect the real world beyond the value of entertainment.

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

oh lmao I wouldnt have been able to understand this question yesterday, but like today I was again hunting scenes for gifs, and I found that Marcel actually holds no appeal to me, in fact, If Elijah decided to slap his head off, I wouldnt have minded at all. Also I was a forwood shipper at the time but now I look at them and have this inexplicable urge to scratch something.

10. Most disliked arc? Why?

Redemption arcs, jfc I HATE THEM, mostly bc my ability to perceive villains shuttles between two distinct opposites, "They are depraved, and evil and everything wrong in this world and I LOVE THEM." or "They are depraved and evil and everything wrong in the world and I HATE THEM" there is literally no in between, so in the first case I love them precisely because they are the scourge of the earth, and a redemption arc [not that I've ever seen one done even mildly ok-ish for the characters to actually redeem them] will literally work to unfuck their fuckiness that I absolutely ADORE. So no I do not want redemption arcs for them at all, and on the flip side when I hate an evil character the only redemption I will accept is them being of good use to the maggots that feast on their dead rotten corpse.

Levi vs MP chase blew me away and I didn't remember rest of the show except Linked Horizon.

Animation blew me away and Kenny is better than I had imagined him in the manga.

They made Levi more bishy and badass at the same time. As expected of WIT. I find myself surprised at some of the changes and the new pacing, but I’m just here to enjoy this wild ride, so I’m open to anything. I can’t wait for Frieda to finally appear and confuse the fuck out of anime-onlies.

ep2 has already become my fav episode

It feels rushed. But I can only hope they make up for it later on.

I enjoyed it, especially the fight scene! A lot of things were missing from the manga, but I'm thinking they will be included in a different context. The ED was absolutely perfect! I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

It was super enjoyable in its own right even if I'm a bit skeptical of the changed pacing.

Loved it a lot. You could immediately tell the signature Sounds Horizon influence, which is great. The song’s been stuck in my head for days. I also love the fact that the visuals are Historia-centric.

I don't think it should've been the opening per say......maybe with different visuals but I absolutely loved it. I'm glad that unlike the opening it didn't disappoint.

The Sasageyo in the middle caught me off guard lol

The ending was really beautiful. The animation with little Historia was beautiful because we will see more of Historia. Heck, this is her time to shine. This is her spotlight.

Do we as a fandom have a bias toward Linked Horizon? Quite possibly, as the new ending has already captured the hearts of the largest group. Great escape came in second, and Yuuguri no Tori remains the least liked ending of the series.

The new ending is beautiful. The scenario, music, how sad it is considering the recent events in the manga. Beautiful. I've to admit that I prefer by far the ending to the opening.

Which scene(s) did you like best?

It goes without saying that the Levi vs. Kenny/MP chase is what blew away the fandom this week. It was the favorite scene by a huge margin. The runner up was Armin taking aim and shooting in order to save Jean’s life.

not ashamed to admit I rewatched the Levi vs Kenny chase dozens of times

Favorite anime-only scene: Sasha saved Armin this time, i couldn't be happier for my girl. She ain't useless and definitely not a comic relief, i hope Isayama will do something in the future so that people appreciate &miss her more when 105 is animated.

Also, something I'm loving this season and doesn't receive enough credit is to hear Traute's voice. Her voice sounds so badass. Love it

The animation is so gorgeous and literally jaw dropping. I enjoy absorbing every single second of action. And seeing and hearing the scene of Jean almost being shot and Armin killing somehow has made me officially ship Jearmin.

As expected, the animation left the majority of respondents in awe. It took one month for the animators to get in that 30 second sequence and it was so worth the efforts of the animation staff!

The Levi fight scene was breathtaking. Genius.

The majority of voters are ready for Historia’s “not very happy” backstory to unfold in episode 40. Some are eager, some just think she’s cute as a button and others are ready for their hearts to hurt. About 12% of voters aren’t as enthused, however.

I think we can almost all agree with the bartender when he says “EEEK!” It’s quite relatable really.

How are you guys holding up?

The largest group of voters are unsure about the changes and feel pretty sketchy toward WIT and Isayama for making and agreeing to the changes. However, a combined 50% of respondents overall are enjoying the anime so far, with 31% of those voters having a great time watching the events unfold in a new way. 8% of voters have already lost all hope at enjoying the adaptation.

Jokes aside, the pacing's still left me reeling a little. But I can see how this might make sense from the studio's perspective. If I was an anime-only, I think this episode would have THRILLED me. So yes, I am still invested in the anime and am looking forward to the rest of the season!

i thought it was really good! most manga readers disagree, but i have hope that important scenes will be included later, and we shouldn’t be so quick to judge only 2 eps. i think we should be grateful that the scenes they DID include followed the manga pretty well. i have faith in the changes isayama wanted to make, he is the creator after all. have hope yall!

How do you feel about the restructuring so far?

We were quite surprised to find that 57% of respondents are still open to the changes, looking to see what happens next before ultimately deciding if the anime is in good hands or not. A small 15% are excited for the changes, while another 15% are not feeling them at all. A very small percentage aren’t enjoying anything about the restructuring so far.

I'm really trying to enjoy the season and not judge too fast before seeing all of the arc, but damn WIT, Isayama, you guys are making it so hard, I'm hella confuse by the changes you're making

In my opinion, the change of pace is for the worse. I'm sad Isayama hates the arc this much, and that he agreed to many crucial character scenes being cut. I think the arc in the manga only felt slow because of waiting for the next monthly chapter.

I'm confused by all the changes but it's only episode 2 so I'm waiting for what's coming next. The animation is beautiful, Levi is beautiful (even with his shirt on) so I like it so far!

Still generally hyped about the season, but wary of the changes. A little bit disappointed about the cutting of the minor characters' (dimo, nifa) screentime/character moments. But I'm gonna wait with my judgement 'till the arc's over.

Character development will not be the same. Hopefully they can build up Armin’s and Erwin’s characters in time for RTS or nobody will care.

While we’re all a bit sad to see some of our favorite scenes lost, the largest group of respondents have accepted that as a fact and are ready to just move forward. 26% are holding out hope that everything will be implemented one way or another. 13% of respondents are finding that the missing scenes are making it very difficult to enjoy anything about the season so far.

I literally want to fly to WIT Studio, go in banging a cowbell in everyone's ears until they put the cute scenes of titan eren and his dorky yet fine ass back in the anime.

I'm afraid that loosing some scenes now will take away more important ones later on. No Dimo telling Historia to give Levi a good punch. No Levi basically threatening Historia to take up the mantle of Queen. These interactions added depth to the characters. There's still time for them to include a few other things in flashbacks, but the changes have me a little on edge. Maybe it's just cognitive dissonance - I'll not write off WIT's and Isayama's restructuring efforts yet. But I will sit on my hands and bite my tongue when I ask my Anime-only friends about their thoughts on the pacing thus far.

the only thing I’m really upset they cut is the scene where Armin talks about how to manipulate the mass and everyone stares at him horrified, everyone’s bitching about the abs but the true loss is not seeing the horrifying expression Armin makes

I think that people complain too much about snk anime. Yes, some things are different and even some favourite scenes of mine where removed but overall this is still the best anime of the season, maybe even the year.

How do you feel about the scenes they did keep?

A combined 63% of voters were satisfied with the scenes that we did still get and many of those believe WIT excelled at executing them. 29% thought the scenes were still alright, but lost some of the impact they had in the original work.

The animation of all of it is phenomenal, but all the scenes/events are jumbled in comparison to the manga. It has me like ?????

The whole bit with Jean being "shot" was better in the manga IMO

Again, as before I am not the Uprising Arc's biggest fan, but one thing I did enjoy was whenever the focus was on the 104th kids coming to terms with fighting humans, struggling with their own morality and the orders Levi was giving them. In the manga, this takes place over a longer period of them, so you really get to see Sasha, Jean and Connie question things and come to their own decision not to kill. By reordering things now, I feel that has completely lost its impact.

The scene at the end where the SC crew learns about rod reminds me a bit of the AT & CT reveal when the way in which the SC reacted to Reiner and Bertholdt possibly being titans was withheld from the viewer so I think that maybe thats what they might be going for this season in the sense that they will find a way to cram a lot of moments in flashbacks later.

Rushed. Scenes have less impact. I’m just thankful I’ve read the manga so I have the context of how bamf these things really are.

They removed way too many Dimo scenes which makes him a very different character to the anime canon. In the manga he was a good-hearted opportunist trying to avoid the deaths of himself and his comrades whereas in the anime this was watered down significantly. Also, #BringBackGesumin2018

Where do you think Rod, Historia and Eren are right now?

We definitely know they aren’t in the cave, but the largest group of voters aren’t even sure where to theorize they could be right now. Although there is a near tie between people who believe they are either at the ranch or the chapel. One commenter on the poll pointed out an area we hadn’t even considered, however:

Because this option didn't show up in where Eren and Historia are: The Central MP Headquarters! The torture of Sannes was used as a way to find where Eren and Historia are, which is the original point of that mission. So there'd be a different, less redundant reason to go to the HQ in the first place! You can even add some missing scenes there.

How did you feel about the way the torture scene was handled?

Most of us did believe that WIT would censor the torture sequence a bit, but the largest group are shocked at just how much of it wasn’t shown at all. Nearly one quarter of voters are disheartened that they didn’t show it all. Commenters are mourning Hange’s memorable line about which testicle Sannes wants to keep the most.

Even though i expected it would be a little bit censored, but wasn't thinking it would that much, they turned it into a joke, a humouristic torture...like seriously wit?

The majority of voters believe that the small change in the Ackerman reveal wasn’t a big deal. However, a pretty sizable portion do believe that the weight of the reveal was lost, with many commenters lamenting the loss of Kenny saying that Levi is his pride.

Lol so many anime-only reactors didn’t even notice the Ackerman name-drop so WIT pretty much failed at that. And it’s okay for fans to feel disappointed with the anime. We’re not **obligated** to think it’s amazing especially if we think there are parts of it that weren’t adapted well.

I expect another encounter between Kenny and Levi that leads to the talk about Levi being Kenny's pride, probably directed to Rod instead. This scene, on the other hand, worked as a wonderful namedrop and setup for a second encounter.

I love how he called Levi his pride in the manga so i’m very sad they changed it, it made Kenny’s death even more emotional.

It’s probably safe to say that many of us are raising questions about the loss of this scene and how WIT will make up for it or whether it was truly needed in the first place. 39% believe that WIT will still work it in somehow, while the majority believe that the scene is lost forever, with split opinions about whether WIT will make up for it in another way or whether their faith in Historia and Levi’s arcs is shattered forever.

The only thing I'm keeping my eyes on is anything related to Historia and her future step up as queen. I'm sure she'll learn that she is royal next episode via her father, so I wonder if eventually deciding to take rule in place of her hidden relatives and corrupt government, will actually end up being her idea, which could explain why Levi's altercation with her was removed. That would be really interesting and I think it could work out just as well! I always thought his anger toward her was a little too sudden and misplaced in the manga, anyway, and if it's removed for good, I'm glad we don't have to live through that controversy again.

I’m kinda disappointed that they didn’t include Dimo Reeves’s redemption arc. It was very essential to Historia & Levi’s character. Maybe I’m worrying over nothing & instead Fligel will replace Dimo in that role, but Eren & Historia were already captured so I’m not sure how they intend to go about rewriting Historia & Levi’s character progression. However, the production team & Isayama do seem to understand how important character development is for this arc, so maybe they’re finding different ways to make it better in ways we didn’t even realize were possible. Maybe by the end we’ll all say “Wow! This was handled a million times better than in the manga!” But right now, it just seems like Isayama had a negative bias towards this arc & was only so accepting of the changes cause he just thought of the Uprising Arc as his worst piece of work to date despite it being the most important for character development & plot progression. I hope I am wrong though.

I’m blown away by the animation! I’m kind of enjoying guessing what might happen next and what other changes they’re going to make. I still have faith that WIT and Isayama will deliver an amazing season three - holding out for more episodes until I lose my mind about changes. It’s super entertaining so far.

I am aware that a 100% adaptation of the manga is impossible and I'm usually not bothered by it. However, I'm slowly getting nervous that too much could get lost and that those fans who want an accurate adaptation will get too frustrated with it to continue. I really hope WIT has a plan here and listens to the fans.

I really, really, really wanted Kenny to say that he was proud of Levi. It was really bittersweet. I hope WIT puts it later on when Kenny is about to die and hopefully he tells it to Levi straight up. But I’m not gonna lie, Levi never knowing that his “father figure” was proud of him all this time puts a tragic and beautiful twist to their relationship. There’s always been something sublime about unexpressed emotions that will forever be hidden because death claimed it first.

I feel like they're sacrificing character interactions and developments for the sake of pacing and action.

I know lots of people are saying that everyone should chill before jumping to conclusions, but as far as I’m concerned all our opinions - mine included, as well as the opinions of those who are dissatisfied with the episode - are valid. And in my opinion, there was so much that the anime skipped. Sure, they were just small details. But it were these details that enriched the story. I trust Isayama, but at the end of the day, he too errs. He too commits mistakes. I don’t know, but if I feel overly dissatisfied with the adaptation even after the season is over, and in my defense am able to bring up valid reasons why I didn’t like it, then so be it.

It's a shame Dimo got reduced to such a minor character.

I felt a bit sorry for the girl who was killed by Armin. I didn't pay attention on her in the manga but in Armin's flashbacks she was more human. It was the proof that even such cold monsters like anti-human squad members have some heart.

I love it so far but Levi and Erwin need more love and they'll get it if they are shirtless and have moar scenes

Joshua Encarnacion Inspiring People of Color to Join The World of Tech – Afro-Latinx in Tech

Joshua Encarnacion (Bay Area, California)

Career: Chief Learning Officer at Outco Inc, which is a company focused on helping software engineers (computer science college grads, coding boot camp grads, and mid-senior level career software engineers) earn their next job.

As CLO, I’m responsible for aligning our people development efforts (training & coaching services), market strategy (connecting with new customers, recruiters, and partner companies) and our team goals with business growth.

1- How did you become a professional in your current field?

To become a professional in my field, I was very intentional about my fields of study in college. While attending the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth, I studied general engineering for 2 years, human resources management for 2 years, and did a minor in Leadership and Civic Engagement.

To earn some cash and keep myself busy with more learning, I did jobs like a tour guide, orientation leader, and residents assistant when I wasn’t studying, which all taught me valuable skills in training, coaching, and running a team.

With my college experiences, I was able to earn a job working for Google right after college. At Google I developed my passion for helping technical-minded folks (mostly software engineers), learn how to develop emotional intelligence & people skills better… outside of the tech industry. Many people believe being a software engineer is the only option, but those in the tech industry know you can work in tech in many different roles and professions, like recruiting, finance, marketing, legal, and in my case, training. I was a technical recruiter for Google and ran training classes on presentation skills, leadership & management skills, meditation, and mindfulness practices.

After Google, I went on to build 3 different startup companies (hiring and training thousands of technical and non-technical professionals) and also worked at Uber for a while to support the build of an iOS training boot camp.

Taking all I learned in college, and not being afraid to test it out in the “real world,” allowed me to grow really comfortable and confident in my skills as a training professional. It took A LOT of support from friends, family, and MANY mentors (no one makes it alone), but as the years passed and different challenges arose, I didn’t quit and made sure to keep close to the people who believe in me WHILE paying it forward and believing in others who was trying their best to become a professional in their field.

2- What is a quality that makes you successful in your career?

My ability to communicate effectively makes me successful in my career. 7 billion + people on planet Earth (someone check my math, lol) means 7 billion + ways to think about how to get ideas out of your head and into somebody (anybody) else’s head. All-day long we are exchanging ideas – whether it be in the classroom, at home with fam, or in the workplace it never ends. Those who can clearly & precisely get their point across, in a way where others FULLY understand them AND want to support the idea, will always find their way to success. Best part! Success is often defined by the most precise communicator in the room because people listen to that person, which makes them a leader.

In the “real world,” it gets VERY challenging to communicate. ESPECIALLY when we take into account different backgrounds, races, genders, goals, ambitions, educations, religions, needs, wants, etc. / Everyone comes with a story, being able to put the stories aside long enough to exchange ideas and information (communicate), allows 2, and many folks work together.

In my experience, being a proud Afro-Latin, first-generation Dominican-American man, born into poverty and navigating many survival driven environments, I’ve had to work EXTREMELY hard to be understood and communicate my ideas in a way the folks around me understood. Especially in spaces where I am the only one of my origins, background, make-up, etc. Common story for us professionals of color in the tech industry. At times, not fair, and it makes me feel uneasy because the dominant society is often in the wrong for letting their bias and insecurities paint me in the false light, which we will all work on continuing to overcome together. BUT my responsibility to move forward towards what I define as success using the qualities which carry me through – in my case, effective communication (storytelling, writing, presenting, public speaking, running meetings, facilitating trainings, explaining ideas, selling, marketing, being able to hold engaging conversation for hours at a time, and being open to sharing with AND learning from people of ALL different backgrounds and experiences).

Communication amongst people (especially when considering all of our differences) isn’t easy. But I wholeheartedly believe in further developing the skill and using every minute I’m breathing as an opportunity to better practice understanding another and using my words to be better understood.

3- What 3 tips would you give someone struggling to reach their goals?

1. Read books written by people who have achieved the goals you want to achieve. A lot of the knowledge and information we need to succeed in achieving our goals has been made available in books, and if you can’t find a book that speaks to you, use Google search to find articles! Just make sure you double/triple check the author’s background to make sure they are a credible source.

2. Ask every question on your mind, so long as it doesn’t involve intentionally hurting someone else, and never mind how you are perceived. Those who are proactively curious will find answers to their challenges A LOT faster than those who fear being perceived as ignorant or unaware. We often fear asking questions because we believe people won’t be willing to help us, but the majority of folks love helping others because it makes them feel valuable (which is why I’m sharing these insights so willingly). For those who negatively react to your questions/don’t help, thank them for their time and find another person to ask your question.

3. For anyone with goals (periodt), prioritize your health above everything else. For me, this means eating well, sleeping well, hanging out / keeping up with friends & fam, journaling about my day and feelings, checking in with my therapist every so often, dancing, laughing, cooking, and finding different ways to destress.

4- Name the top 3 goals you achieved?

1. I helped endow a scholarship during my time at UMass Dartmouth. Working with a team of 6 seniors, we fundraised $76k and invested a majority of the money in creating the “DREAM Scholarship,” awards $1,000 every year (for forever), to a student with a Dream in dedication to the service of others. Feels good to be able to pay it foreword with sharing knowledge AND providing funds

2. Helping build Outco Inc. When I joined the company, we were 4 teammates and barely had 15 customers, now we have ~20 employees, and have helped 1,500+ software engineers earn jobs with an average salary of ~$110,000 / year. Having built a lot of the social, emotional, and behavioral training curriculum myself (courses on confidence, communication skills, presentation skills, interviewing, and more) it feels good to validate your ideas and be part of a team which wins by helping others grow the skills necessary to get what they want, which in their case is a job.

3. Staying close with my family and friends over all these years of accomplishment. Nothing is harder than balancing personal life and career aspirations. Some of the challenges most ambitious folks never really speak on are ones we often struggle with alone – missing birthdays, missing family cookouts, being far away from “home” for long periods of time, and growing/changing into someone who no is longer interested in doing what they used to do in the past OR what most of their loved ones do now. It isn’t easy to accept all the changes that come with being dedicated to your goals, and often, the first thing I see many ambitious folks do is forgetting about their community – friends, and fam. I’m very proud of my efforts to stay grounded, connected and present with a good number of folks who raised me and helped me become the person I am today.

5- What inspired you to reach your goals?

The grit, resilience, and perseverance demonstrated by my first coach, teacher, and support system, my Mom. She had me at 16 years old, and at the time, we lived in project housing with minimal support from my father (who was deported to the Dominican Republic a couple of years after I was born).

She didn’t let her circumstances OR environment, determine the life we would be living, and due to her example, I feel as if any/all goals I set for myself, or m team(s) set together will always be achievable if we remain focused, committed, and flexible in HOW we get where we are going.

Our family had significant ups and downs, and nothing about our survivor story was pretty. But with persistence (and probably many lucky breaks & community support), I watched Rosemary Hernandez (my mother) pull us from a harsh reality, to what we believed to be a dream come true. 13 years after I was born, my Mom had secured two master’s degrees (MBA & child psychology) and moved my younger sister and me into our first house. What more inspiration do I need?

6- How did you overcome obstacles to reaching your goals?

– Mindfulness meditation

– Taking responsibility for my actions

– Being coachable and learning from mentors

– Therapy

– Exercise

– Asking for help from friends and fam

– Reading (an hour a day)

– Never quitting on my goals, but being flexible with my approach to goals

– Studying positive psychology

– Idolizing truth and honesty OVER everything else

– Being very clear on who I am, my passions, my interest, my desires, and most importantly, my goals

– Always believing I’ll reach my goals and continuously repeating back to my self, “It’s a matter of when not if.”

– Not being ashamed to ask questions or look “stupid.”

– Staying young aka dancing, laughing, having fun, and enjoy life

– Celebrating the best parts of my culture, my people, my community, which is the best form of loving myself and the people around me

– Always being open to feedback and pushing myself to continue learning

7- How do you keep your inspiration from decreasing?

I remind myself, daily:

“Life is short, and we will all pass one day. My job in life is to do what I believe in my heart to be the most useful thing I can do to help myself and the people around me that, and love deep.”

HI CRUSH ANON HERE AND I WANT TO START OFF BY SAYING TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT FEEL EMOTIONALLY INVESTED IN MY LOVE LIFE I LOVE YALL HAHHAHHA I DIDNT EXPECT FOR ANY OF THIS TO HAPPEN :'))))) at the same time tho i feel like things might have to be put on hold for a while i dont know !!!! ok sorry sorry ill explain so ,, ive figured out that im like really really into this boy. in a way thats probably not the best for me right now, esp bc ive got a lot of things to juggle right now (1/17)

but also bc ive been thinking and like ,, ok so this story might put things more into perspective. so its like monday and i get a text from him thats just like ‘hey what are the rest of your classes for today/do you have like 15 min or something to be in a shoot of mine before it gets dark’ and im like PANICKIN bc ofc hes asked some of us to be models for his photography hw before and its always super casual BUT this is the first time that IVE ever been asked specifically (2/17)

and so obviously i jump at this offer and im like ‘umm i dont have any more classes today so sure just lmk when and what to do :) also whats the shoot about?’ and hes like ‘ok cool we can meet at your room at like 5:15 and ill tell you about the shoot when we meet up :)’ and he wanted us to go to this reaaaaally pretty park at sunset and do the shoot around that time and i was like ‘ok do u want me to wear anything specific’ and he was like ‘nothing in particular :)’ (3/17)

and so i start getting ready and im nervous af bc it meant spending more time alone with him and i felt so unprepared for that LMAO but yeah so he comes up to our room and i open the door and my heart skips a fucking BEAT and i almost slam the door in his face but i force myself not to aha and so we go and hes like ‘ugh im so tired i want coffee lets get coffee’ and so we went into the starbucks around the corner but then i was like yo will we make it to the park in time (4/17)

and hes like ‘o shit yeah’ so we leave without getting coffee rip but yeah we go to the city park and oh my gskldgskd it is so fucking pretty its right before sunset so everything is golden and the sky is rainbow but you can already see the moon and holy one of the prettiest views i think i have EVER seen !!!!! and then he explains to me what the project is finally and hes like so its an experimental photo set thats supposed to represent all the things we left behind in modern society (5/17)

and so for me he said he wanted me to pose in the city park at sunset sitting on a bench with my hands cupped like i was holding a heart (hes going to photoshop the heart in later when hes editing the pics) and then like leave it behind on the bench and look at the sunset behind me which is supposed to represent and i quote “leaving love behind in the pursuit of beauty” and i literally was like 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 the whole time LMAOOOOOOO (6/17)

but yeah so we did that in like 15 min but after we were done i legit didnt want to leave bc (i wanted to spend more time with him but also) IT WAS SO FUCKING PRETTY SKDHJDFH and ahhhh i like looked over at him and he looked sooo at peace just like looking out over the water and the sunset and the scenery was so beautiful i almost blurted out hi i think ur beautiful but i stopped myself in the nick of time thank god LOOOOOL (7/17)

but he like made eye contact with me and i like held myself together but there was a moment where i felt like djdhskjdkd idk how to describe it i was kfskshdhdjdh idk it could be just my imagination but I FELT LIKE THERE WAS SOMETHING THERE AHHHHHHHH and i was so tempted to ask him about the hand holding on saturday but i didnt i held myself back again thank god lol and then all of a sudden he goes ‘hey do u want pics’ and im like wot (8/17)

and hes like ‘do u want some pics of urself? like we r already here so !! plus i want some photos to put on my photography insta’ and i was like sljkddjkd ok why the hell not so he directs me into different poses and stuff like that and after the sun sets we finish and then we r walking back bored af so we start wandering around the little shops nearby and then we finally get home and then our friend texts the group chat like ‘hey anyone want dinner now’ (9/17)

and we were already really close to a dining hall so the two of us went and got dinner and our friend just joined us later and then during dinner when it was just the two of us we started talking about me losing the bet of when our friends were gonna hook up and so i have to treat him to japanese bbq and we were talking about when and hes like ‘well theres nothing im gonna celebrate for a while except my best friend from home is coming bc her sisters getting married here” (10/17)

and i was like ‘omg thats great ??? congrats to her !!!! omg’ but idk this is where it gets kind of confusing bc idk we were talking about maybe going this weekend but his best friend was coming and he was planning on spending all his time with her but i think he said that we could go get japanese bbq with her too ?? and i think i said ok but i dont think we locked down any like specific date and time at all ??? this part is a lil confusing to me (11/17)

so anyways that happened and i havent really interacted with him after that whole thing like we still have a streak on snapchat lol but he will do this thing where he wont open or respond to my snapchats for like literal hours ,,, even though i know hes ON snapchat bc he will like watch my stories ??? like w o t ???? i dont think hes doing it on purpose if that makes sense ?? but its still annoying and borderline infuriating and sldkghsldkgh (12/17)

and also like ok ,, his best friend came like yesterday and i saw her on his snapchat story and h o l y g o d she is the most beautiful girl on all of fucking planet earth i shit u not like i actually !!!! screamed when i saw her shes so fucking gorgeous and on his story theres a bunch of snaps of the wedding etc and a pic of him and her in a photobooth and sldkgsldkghs holy ???? i dont know how to put this into words but they are p e r f e c t for each other (13/17)

like in every way possible they are literally best friends and shes an actual goddess and together they look sooooo aesthetically pleasing it is legitimately intimidating and ahhh sldkgldgkh so the thing is !!!!! i already have practically no self esteem left ,, and a dinner with like HER and THEM will probably d e s t r o y m e from the inside out i will literally just feel inferior in every single way possible and i have NO IDEA HOW TO EXPLAIN THIS UGH !!!!!! I like Ignite.com (Actually this is a good one for start ups to share their stories. We can also have employees help out and figure out what needs new companies have.
