bit of translation+parsing through the shooting scene

saw someone say they didnt know it was a model gun so yeah. gun's not real guys free my boy he did nothign wrong

so the insomnia mv was edited together in a purposefully ambiguous way, with scenes that are nonchronological or metaphorical, representing fuchi's chaotic mental state.

first there's the shooting

then this shot of a truck driving itself

which then cuts to the seven car pileup

and then transitions to the news story covering it, presumably the next day

translation: indiscriminate shooting with a model gun at shibuya scramble crossing. an indiscriminate crime?

below that: passenger car, truck, minivan etc. involved in seven-car serial collision incident

the date and time is 11pm on the 28th of march, which happens to be 1 hour before what I'm assuming is fuchi's 18th birthday

sidenote: this crossing is literally the busiest pedestrian crossing in the world

anyway the police come for him and he runs for it.

'under arrest: occupation unknown, suspect fuchi sunao (18)'

then there's this sequence of him wrestling for control with his inner child, which is obviously not meant to be taken literally

along with this shot of him tumbling down the stairs into the path of a truck

however, that stairwell is nowhere to be seen in the shot after he's actually been hit by the truck, and if you look closely he still has both shoes on his feet

so we can infer that the whole sequence did not happen in reality

then there's this newspaper from the 30th of march. the headline says 'successive accidents in tokyo'. on the right: 'collision with a driverless* truck' and on the left: 'accident in the same spot as...' (cut off) *literally: in motion with no driver(human), not referring to self-driving technology

the words are blurry but basically the right part describes the seven-car pileup from the 28th again, and the left part describes fuchi's collision with the self-driving truck. the good news is at least the pileup doesn't seem to have killed anyone, with the text describing 10 people with light to severe injuries, and 2 people in a coma.

the caption to the left of the photo says it's the scene of the accident, taken at 11pm on the 29th in shibuya, tokyo

so yeah piecing all that together, fuchi went on a sleepwalking shooting spree with a model gun on the night of the 28th of march, caused a massive traffic accident that injures several people, presumably just??? left?? and went home?? they just let him? i guess all the people ran away or were too busy dealing with the 7 smushed cars. then on the night of the 29th he sees the news on the tv, the police knock on his door and he runs. one mental breakdown and dreamworld sequence later he ends up getting hit by a truck in the same intersection as before.

edit: as some in the notes have pointed out, the truck is reported as 'driverless' because his zingai mr. creepypasta was the one driving it, and it's invisible to most normal people. it's also foreshadowed (represented?) by this shot during the scene where his child self is rampaging.

anyway now he's in jail. rip.

i want to preface this by saying that i know its not anyone else's responsibility to cater to my needs, and i dont want to sound selfish, but i just wish people would use the tagging system accurately sometimes.

as yall know ive been obsessed w dc recently but the amount of batcest that appears whenever i search up anything related to the batfam is so.. aaa. i get some people enjoy it but its really not for me, and its so frustrating to see things that are clearly batcest tagged as batfam or just batman in general. especially when its explicit or nsfw content.

ive blocked so many of the batcest ship tags along w the ship itself but people keep tagging things incorrectly or just not tagging them at all. along w this, a lot of it will be clear age gap w one character being a minor while the other is a grown adult (tim and jason, literally any batfam member shipped w damian, etc) and it won't be tagged appropriately either.

i don't want to be rude or offensive or anything like that, it's just something that i've noticed lately that lowkey icks me out. it makes scrolling through the tag very uncomfortable when one minute im looking at cute family fluff and the next im looking at an image of bruce and damian making out. aaaa.

Hii I just finished the chapter 7 dlc and decided to write a summary of it for those who might be interested, since who knows if or when it'll be localized ! I've only done the good ending so far though, but this got pretty long as it so I put it in a google doc for easier reading.

You can find it here ! Spoilers for the whole thing obviously, except for the bad ending. (I'll probably add it when I get around to doing it!)

I'll probably take this down if it gets localized or if someone else does a full translation, but I hope this helps someone who might be interested :) it was really fun!

Okay for real I LOVE SCIKE so like. I’m gonna dump about them because I hate them so much.

I think my biggest thing with Scike is I genuinely cannot see them being together. It’s the darkest timeline. Genuinely they would not work. I think there is a potential that like. They don’t hate each other in the future they could get along in a toxic frenemies sort of way but they’re always a spin off for me a “what if” idea.

They’re fun when they’re toxic and evil and hate each other and try to kill each other and are just fss (read future starts slow guys it’s good it’s wild but it’s good definitely not shouting out the mutual that asked this) and I feel if you make them … “normal” (?) it looses everything that makes them fun. They cannot be together in a way that is healthy and makes for a happy ending. Like stated in my obligatory community reference (did you know I like community), this is the darkest timeline for them both.

I say I’m a zoke shipper because they are endgame to me. They are the realistic and “good” outcome if you ask me. But I care way more about scike and their evil shenanigans, but I cannot defend them as an endgame ship, even as a ship at all in any “good timeline” fic/au because they ruin each other too much.

Do you guys get me or am I talking too much.

So while I do enjoy scike, more than most other ships, and will defend them and all of their NORMAL shippers (by normal I mean people that don’t mischaracterise or make it creepy I’m not talking about the freaks the freaks can stay you know who you are) but I cannot rightfully say they should be together, at all in any capacity in a fic/au where you want a happy ending.

If you do choose to include scike in your “normal” fic with a happy ending where they move on or stay together this is the only possible outcome.

I was reading the post under your screenshots of Romeo. I'm curious. What is your theory on Romeo's death? Before he became a puppet?

Hmmm... I gave this some thought, so bear with me on this! Hear me out:

If we look at his skin here, prior to the explosion that burnt him... you'll see he still has kinda... dark spots on him? And his dialogue during the fight is very flame oriented.

Not to mention his Ergo, the very reflection of his heart, is titled "Burnt-White King's Ergo" and while it feels sorta like a copout, I feel like just maybe Romeo was victim to a fire. Krat was kinda burnt to the ground in a lot of places, after all. Subject 826 says so himself! And I really don't think he just means the newly burnt Opera House.

There's also the fire in the main section of Rosa Isabelle Street. So what I'm saying is... maybe... Romeo, after Carlo's death, graduated and became a Stalker himself. Remember, Carlo gave Romeo his own graduation pendant, meaning... Romeo hadn't graduated yet! Is Romeo maybe a grade behind? Younger? Less experienced, and therefore, made to stay longer? Who knows... But in the end, maybe, perhaps, as his duty to the people, he was helping people in, specifically, Rosa Isabelle Street? And got overwhelmed by the puppets there and died in a fire/burning building? (Leaning towards burning building, because his face prior to explosion doesn't look charred... just kinda dusty. So maybe a building collapse?)

Also, I'm comfortable saying he died at Rosa Isabelle Street because it's there that we find the "Notes from an Experiment" document!

His body had to have been close enough to drag into the Opera House in secret to experiment on, y'know? So I'm thinking maybe it's definitely his resting place (twice over, oof). It'd also be really sad if he really didn't even realize he had died? Like the death had been instantaneous.

"When the boy opened his eyes..." As in, one moment he was okay, and the next?? He was... not where he thought he would suddenly wake up at. Kinda my take on that...
