#also tho for the song i think the lyrics fit really nice especially with all the bird imagery

on the subject of post-game Rookanis and Crow politics, "Preybirds" by Rabbitology is a great song, I think, for a non-crow Rook trying to get Lucanis to leave the Crows/deny being First Talon because they can see where that road ends, and only being able to sadly watch for now

Ranking the songs of Ponniyin Selvan
The sole reason for making this post is because I. AM. OBSESSED. Also, I am not a music expert, so this is just about how the songs sounded to me.
14. PS Anthem
I...I don't have anything to say. It's an okay song for me, I just don't like it as much as the other tracks, simple.
13. Devaralan Aattam
Again, same thing. It is a nice piece of music...I am not that fond of it. This album is soooo good, and this song is a nice song. Except I kind of get scared when I listen to it T-T.
12. Aazhi Mazhai Kanna
It is soooo pretty! My only complaint is that it is...what? A minute long?! I wish it were a full fledged, 2-3 minute long song...It has a such a lovely vibe, and I am in love with the music video.
11. Ilaiyor Soodar
It has a kind of nostalgic, old-ish vibe? IDK how to describe it, but it feels kind of melancholic, which I think it is meant to be? This is very small as well, no?
10. Chinnanjiru (Marumurai)
This is one of my fav songs on this album actually, but I don't listen to it that much, because it makes me cry. I think this song might actually make me depressed, it's so beautifully made and sung.
9. Chola Chola
It has a very energetic vibe, over all. Why do I feel that this would be a good gym song tho? It also seems like a strong dance song, and I love it for that. Also, I listened to the Hindi version first, and I highly recommend it.
8. Chinnanjiru Nilave
It is a very beautiful piece of music. My favorite part is how the music starts off with a very cheerful tune, and keeps it throughout the song, while slowly adding a tragic/painful tone as the song progresses. It really fits the couple it is picturized on. Who is the singer, guys? Another song whose Hindi version I loved.
7. Shivoham
I really love the fact that this song's lyrics are taken directly from Nirvana Shatakam. I am a sucker for well made religious music, especially with Sanskrit lyrics, and this is one of those songs. Someone make a 1 hour loop of this, it is toooooo short.
6. Ponni Nadhi
This was the first PS song I listened to, and it is so, so, so good!!!! Such an energetic and simultaneously peaceful song. The music video is so precious as well, and the fact that it is picturized on Vanthiyathevan is just another plus for me. Makes me want to sing along whenever I listen to it.
ANNNDDDDD NOW, TOP 5.
5. Ratchasa Maamaney
Sweetie, I am so sorry. I feel so guilty for ranking this so low. This is an awesome song. Shreya Ghoshal is a pleasure as always, and the music + music video are just precious. This song has such festive vibes, and Vanthiyathevan's parts are so hilarious. The flute in the beginning has fulfilled all my dreams.
4. Sol
Now, NGL, but I was not that big of a fan of this song initially, when I first heard it, but it grew on me. The whistling, the sound of water, everything is so cute. This is the most adorable song I have ever heard. The Tamil version was my fav.
3. Aga Naga
It is so dreamy and breath-taking for me. I am in love with this song. The instruments, and the singing, everything is top notch. IDK how people can dislike this song. It has a slow touch to it, and it is very romantic, but has subtle vibes? Like this song gives me the vibe of loving someone, but from afar?
2. Alaikadal
So dreamy and peaceful. I listened to all of it's versions, and it has a mysterious + chill vibe. Antara Nandy is such a good singer. This song just transports you to a different world.
WINNER: Veera Raja Veera
This song is just....perfection. Chef's kiss. Out of this world. ROYAL. I always blast this song on full volume, and it is EVERYTHING. This song is just....I don't have words for it. The lyrics are even more perfect. The part before the last chorus is my fav and I just-
Also the music video.
DAMN.
I am screaming, shrieking, throwing up whenever I listen to it.
What is your ranking?

I fucking love Muse.
And as you may know, when I love something, I don’t shut up about it (Alice I know you know)
So here is my list of favourite songs by Muse, from all the albums, my rankings of them and how they weakened my mental health even more (btw I love Muse so much I almost have all their albums on CD because I’m a whore for cd and many other things)
Showbiz (1999) - Muscle Museum. I bought this album for 3€ at a random shop that did sales on CD by just telling myself “It’s a Muse album, I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.” then went back home, put it in the CD player, laid on my floor and cried. That album is so fucking good especially for a debut album. I think it shows how good Muse is because I never hate a song. There are some I dislike but not in this album. Muscle Museum is called like that because in the English dictionary, the words before & after Muse are Muscle and Museum. That’s the smartest yet dumbest way to title your song. The bass gives me a hard on, the lyrics are nice, the “and I don’t want you to adore me, don’t want you to ignore me when it pleases you” is so fucking good and tho it’s a song about love and I can’t relate I love it. At the end, when Matthew’s voice becomes a fucking guitar, that’s so cool and HOLY SHIT THAT MAN CAN SING HIGHER NOTES THAN ALL OF US
10/10 album, no skips
Origin Of Symmetry (2001) - New Born, again, I buy this CD thinking I won’t be disappointed and end up thinking about the meaning of life. I love everything and as always, the notes he hits are just yummy. The bass, the guitar, everything is amazing, like in this whole album, except Darkshines, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE all the songs.
9/10 album, only a few skips
Absolution (2003) - Butterflies & Hurricanes. All the gifted kids burn out will relate heavily to this song. At least I do. The piano and violin is amazing, it shows how good of a classical pianist Matt is. The part where he says “Change everything you are and everything you were” and “Best, you’ve got to be the best, you’ve got to change the world” is too relatable and I know that technically it isn’t about gifted kids burning out but a whole album about the world ending but sorry if this fits. This is also my childhood album since my parents had it and always played it in the car
11/10, no skip, tells a story about the end of the world, every song is beautiful and brings back childhood
Black Holes And Revelations (2006) - Starlight, I’m sorry, maybe I don’t get like any of the hidden messages but that song definitely at least talks a bit about suicide. The line “Let’s conspire to ignite all the souls that would die just to feel alive” is so fucking good. It’s not the most popular of the album (the most popular is Supermassive Black Holes and that song is fucking freaky) but definitely has a special place in my heart.
9/10, the most popular one for a reason, no skip but just a tiny bit less memorable for me though it’s an amazing album
The Resistance (2009) - Resistance. Do I need to say more ? That song is SO. FUCKING. GOOD. It’s like forbidden love, there’s a reference to 1984 (“Will they find out hiding place ?”) and just love being interpreted as resistance can be interpreted in so many homosexual ways. It’s genuinely a really emotional and fucking amazing song. The “It could be wrong but it could’ve been right” just resumes a lot of things in life and I genuinely think this is how you can make shut up all those guys that kissed their homies to see if they were gay and when they didn’t like it they became homophobic (if you get the vision you’ll understand). This is once again a childhood album.
9/10, really really good, just too short for me tho I love the 1984 reference. Why the fuck is there 3 classic songs and one where Matt sings in French, it’s another question.
The 2nd Law (2012) - Animals. That song single-handedly restarted my Muse addiction. This band literally left my brain and came back in 2022 when I heard that song in a TikTok. The voice was familiar from my childhood, I understood it was Muse and desperately looked for that song. The lyrics are nice and reminds me of “Je suis un Homme” by Zazie (my frenchies will get it). Basically just mankind being an asshole and trying to overtake the nature. The line “Kill yourself and do us all a favour” is so relatable (that’s a joke) it’s the one I heard on the TikTok and made me look for Muse again. That song is so chaotic, especially at the end but it’s so fucking cool
8/10, I need to re-listen to it because I was tired the first time. Really cool tho
Drones (2015) - Psycho. I need to listen to that album again. I didn’t like it that much but it’s still really good. The intro is so good and the lyrics “Love, it will get you nowhere, you’re on your own” is nice because I’m tired of love songs. It’s like a genuinely slightly depressing song if you look at the lyrics to but yeah it’s nice
7/10. Didn’t particularly liked that one
Will Of The People (2022) - Kill Or Be Killed. That song is REALLY FUCKING COOL. When looking for Animals, I did have the name and accidentally found this song, realised they made a new album and listen to it. Though the lyrics might be a bit stereotypical, they’re still nice, the “Fate has brought us here to face our hopes and dreams erased” are nice, the whole thing with fate is cool. I like it, it’s a change of direction since the first album but it’s not unwelcome for me. The guitar solo is really nice too
8/10. nice.

leave you now - 8/10. for some reason, my favorite part is the bass LMAO. i also want to comment that this album is mixed very well… everything is the perfect volume and sounds very nice. “i can’t leave you now / i got nowhere to go anyhow” luv it.
dangerous - 10/10. i reaaaally like this one. i can’t even put lyrics here cause i love them all!!!! this one is def going on a playlist of mine. i am thanking you for making me hear this.
in the valley of the dying son - 9/10. at first i thought i wasn’t gonna like it but i reaaally do. i like the little solo part & honestly the whole song. literally just “i’m thinking of you” yes dawg i am always thinking of u 🙏🏼💔
code name : raven - 8.8/10. these cats are cookin! LMAO. this one is pretty good, i like his vocals a bunch. “you’re the only reason i stayed” / “i’m on your side until my body drains of blood” this dude GETS it.
by your side - 100/10. i looove a good sappy/acoustic song. this one is good as freak like i’m feeling it for real !!!!! “just to see your face for a moment, i’d cross the ocean again” uhh yeah most certainly … i feel like this guy just stole all my internal thoughts or smthn >_<. this song hurts, but i love it regardless.
journey into space (pt.1) - 7.5/10. i found it a liiiittle boring … don’t hate me pls 💔. it wasn’t bad, tho. the lyrics are a bit repetitive x_x.
sooner or later - 9/10. i like this one a bunch. “we never had a chance but i’m happy we that we tried” DO YOU WANT ME TO KMS!? guh. this one is super super good.
baby’s a red - 11/10. WHY IS THIS ONE MAKING ME EMOTIONAL????? okay listen i feel music harder than literally anything so like. good lird. i love this song, it’s so sweet T-T. “i will testify that i loved you” / “only that i loved you until death” YOU’RE KILLING ME!
drown - 8.9/10. this one is pretty good. “sacrifice your pride to find a new beginning” very, very true…
faces - 9.2/10. siiiigh… again, he gets me. “i only want what’s bad for me” girlll me too LMAO. i can’t properly convey my thoughts here for some reason, but i quite like this one.
voices - 6.8/10. guhh… i didn’t care much for this one </3. it could’ve been better i think.
field of daggers - 8/10. very pretty ^_^. seems religious in a way? i may be a little stupid and interpreting the lyrics incorrectly, but that’s how it sounds. the outro is very nice.
new moon - 8.5/10. “i feel the aching of an old bruise healing” gguuuuuhhhh!!! lyricism is off-the-charts. i am still taken aback at how well this album sounds, i’m seriously impressed.
ghost - 9.8/10. :-(. this one just hurts zawg… sigh. i think it’s a very fitting closing track for the album. i really like his voice, it’s versatile and fits the lyrics well. “i got my freedom, but it feels like emptiness” / “i wanna fade away driftin’ out your life” good lird. i cant even. do u want to see me cry brotha …
WE HAVE REACHED THE END!!! overall, i think i give it an 8.9/10. i did not expect to like it so much, but i really do ^_^! thank you for showing me this, i WILL kiss u on the mouth 4 this cause it is srs great. i hope my review is sufficient 💘!!!

I can see Gwyn’s voice being similar to Lauren Paley, specifically her cover of My Jolly Sailor Bold. Azriel’s voice I kind of imagine MISSIO. I actually recommend the song Bottom of the Deep Blue Sea by MISSIO, and Beginning Through The End by Erick Serna. Both of those songs make me think of Gwynriel for some reason. It’s hard to really think of voices for Gwyn and Azriel, especially Gwyn. I imagine she has this alluring and hypnotic singing voice that’s otherworldly, but her talking voice might be a little husky or raspy.💙
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UeQWyHvUVbg&pp=ygUMdGFtaW5vIFBpdG91
^Her voice is how I picture Arwen’s if she could sing
🍒 anon
Hii 🍒 anon!
Sorry for the late response, I needed to check out the stuff you sent me. I've never heard them before.
Suggestion for Gwyn is very siren-like, I like it! And as for Azriel, yea, I could see him with this voice! It's very nice.
I like it that we all have our headcanons. I listen to music on shuffle in my car, and when I hear some fitting lyrics and tone, I add it to my acotar characters' playlists.
I also have made both Elain and Lucien playlists but they are not as perfect as I want them to be. I will post some singular songs in the future, tho... Probably. ✨️ It's my special interest ✨️

before I sleep, here is my definitive ranking on all the NPMD songs and some rambles on why I placed them there - also the ranking is based on how much I vibe with them (music production and lyricism have different rankings)
1. Hatchet Town (aka the hatchetfield trilogy theme song like this tune perfectly encapsulates the chaos Hatchetfield has to go through with every Starkid project pos-2018 and I love it - kinda wish it was a number that is more integrated with the plot with the kids tho BUT I REALLY DID LIKE that this melody was quite prominent in the other songs too)
2. High School is Killing Me (I've watched many teen centered musicals and believe me when I say that this song is one of, if not, the best introduction numbers out there for this genre - also it's a really great opening hook for a show)
3. Nerdy Prudes Must Die (FUCKING AMAZING HONESTLY - amazing way to REALLY re-establish a villain back from the dead and to establish the main theme for the nerds here: "I'm Not A Loser" (tho i fucking wish that motif was used a bit more))
4. Just For Once (everyone cheer for Lauren Lopez flexing not just her high tier soprano skills, but also how amazing of a fucking actor she can be like the concept of this song is quite layered and to pull it off both comedically and emphatically takes great lyrical and acting prowess)
5. The Summoning (a well-anticipated onstage introduction to all 5 of the LiB that balances out befuddling neon-entertainment with genuine fucking menace)
7. Cool As I Think I Am Reprise (A FUCKING GENIUS REPRISE I CAN'T STRESS ENOUGH HOW COOL I FIND THEM RECONTEXTUALIZING THE OG SONG AND IF I LOVED YOU TO FIT THE SITUATION AND BOTH OF THE CHARACTERS GROWTH. LIKE IN TERMS OF THEMATIC IMPLICATIONS WITH CHARQCTER DEVELOPMENT, THIS SONG AND ITS SCENE WOULD BE THE TOP)
6. If I Loved You (I think this song could be a bit more honestly like I know how much Starkid has explored Steph and Pete's relationship in their other projects and I was really hoping that they would have it more portrayed here - however the song is a bop nonetheless and it matches neatly with their themes and the harmonies are top tier. I placed this higher than the next just due to my personal bias like I really do like the song)
8. Dirty Dudes Must Die (A GREAT TWIST THAT MAKES ME WANT ANOTHER MUSICAL ABOUT GRACE CHASITY'S DERANGED SELF - also the new context of the song Grace is reprising here makes her a villain even scarier than MAX of all people but that's just me)
9. Literal Monster (A very catchy beat and well structured song that provides a good introduction to a jock-bully with the god complex. also kinda foreshadowing to nerdy prudes must die)
10. Cool As I Think I Am (the instrumentation reminded me of Dear Evan Hansen ngl fjsjd but it really does sound like an I-Want song from a teen-musical which is of course what they are going for - it sounds very nice and earnest though and I loved how it was utilised in the reprise. However I still fucking wish that the I'm Not A Loser motif was used more)
11. Dirty Girl (look I'm sorry for ranking this quite low on the list but like there is no fucking way I'm using this as bait to lure other people in like they'd be scared away I'm sorry fjdjs BUT I love how Will and Angela perform this though like top tier starkid performances ever - its not just what I would listen to on repeat personally jgjdjs)
12. Go Go Nighthawks! (This one gets plus points because of FUCK YOU CLIVESDALE GO GET FUCKED. otherwise its nice and cheery and perfectly shows how happy everyone is without Max but um I kinda wish it could be a bit more especially in terms of showing how happy the other nerds are now that Max is gone but that's just me)
13. Bully The Bully + Bury The Bully (Look I couldn't decide which was better like they both are the same melodies so like gjxjs these two are cute though and I liked seeing the 5 kids bonding in Bully The Bully since we don't get that many scenes with them)
14. The Best Of You (the pop-punk happy number is a staple of teen-centered musicals and it does really sound nice - just isn't that much of a standout compared to the others.)

random thoughts with razz
i saw some people talk lately abt who would get abnormality dancin girl in pjsk and i get why most people say n25 should have it because of mafuyu.. uhhh nah i disagree heavily on that one
[rant below]
like most people say the song should go to mafuyu but it doesnt work for her at all imo, shes not getting rid of her nice girl persona because its like a safety net for her she can fall back on [im not sure how to explain what i mean here exactly but you get the point], if anything many parts would fit ena more especially the ones about feeling like youre average at best at anything you do, but even then the rest of the song doesnt really work besides that. some parts may fit mizuki better as well, rejecting normality etc. but definetly not mafuyu
since the song has a pretty clear theme of school the obvious group would be l/n, which i think somehow works! they got the lost ones weeping already which deals with similar stuff as this song, tho im not sure how well the lyrics fit them exactly.. the sound of the song in itself definetly fits them imo, i could see it being another ichika and shiho cover maybe [i just love their voices together sorry im biased]
my next best pick would probably be vbs tho, an and akito seem to work pretty well since theyre not doing the best at school and often mention how tired of it they are, im not sure if the sound of the song itself fits them that well but i can definetly see it. the theme of feeling like youre never good enough work wonderfully for them as well, most clearly for akito but an deals with that too.. but even then i dont feel like the lyrics themselves fit them that well, but thats kind of the case for every group when i really think about it, the parts about going absolutely bonkers insane is especially difficult to place for me
i also saw someone say they can see wxs covering this one which i didnt even think about tbh.. i can kind of see certain lyrics fitting tsukasa, especially with the context of whatever the hell was going on with him in his latest focus event..a lot of them fit rui as well, the theme of rejecting being perceived as normal works with him just as well as it works for mizuki, tbh i can even see nene singing it somewhat, but im not sure about the sound of the song.. doesnt really have a wxs vibe but thats not a huge issue
anyway rant over if u have thoughts abt it please share because i actually love speculations like these !!!

5, 9, 21, 23, 25 Falls, Tic, and Sooool plssss vod’ikaaaa 💙💙💙 (no rush tho)
How far is your OC willing to go to get what they want?
Falls:he is so selfless that he would happily give up his own life for his brothers. He has, on a few occasions, given his own blood to brothers while working to keep them alive. He is gotten scolded by his brothers in the 501st and the Corrie guard for this, but he doesn't care
Tic: If he could tear apart the galaxy together his old battalion back he would in a heart beat, he would be considered a deserter risk when he first joined the Corrie guard
Sol: he would happily volunteer himself for decommissioning if it meant he could stop it from happening permanently. He would never tell anyone this but he has threated to several times
Do you have a specific lyric or quote which you associate with your OC?
Falls:pretty much the entire song, but this line specifically
"Called to the Devil and the Devil said
Hey! Why you been calling this late?
It's like 2 A.M. and the bars all close at 10 in hell, that's a rule I made
Anyway, you say you're too busy saving everybody else to save yourself
And you don't want no help, oh well
That's the story to tell"
Tic: This makes me think of his grief of losing his battalion
"But i know wounds will heal
But it's hard for me to tell what's fake and what's real
Sometimes i even think that i died that day
And i'm imagining my life and it's stuck on replay"
Sol:we all know the song I think about for him, but it's this line specifically
"I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringin'
Roman Cavalry choirs are singin'
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
My missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason, I can't explain
Once you'd gone, there was never, never an honest word
And that was when I ruled the world"
Does your OC have any illnesses or disorders? How do they handle it?
Fall:As I said, he gets really bad migraines after removing his chip, but honestly, his biggest issue is his ADHD. He has the inattentive type, so he'll either not do anything for hours or spend days hyper focusing on something
Tic:he deals with tics (not like tourettes but just small tics. I deal with them a lot), and after losing his battalion, he ended up with a trauma induced stutter, and his tics get worse
Sol:Not so many illnesses or disorders, but his knee injury really starts to get worse as time goes on. After he left Kamino, he would need crunches and a leg bracefor years. He hates it but if he trys to go without them he gets screamed at
What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?
Honestly, for me, this is a one answer fits all (plus I spent like 10 minutes looking at lists of emotions, but I'm autistic so I don't really understand them oop) and that is feeling safe (idk if that's a emotion but let's all roll with it) they have all gone through their own personal hells and so feeling safe is not easy for any of them. Tic is the most obvious after losing his battalion he will for a long time feel like he will lose everyone he cares for again after joining the corrie guards. Falls has had to always look over his shoulder and be one of the best to avoid decommissioning. And Sol never fully released he felt so unsafe on Kamino till he left
What is your favorite thing about your OC?
Falls:he was my first clone oc in this Fandom, and he allowed me to connect to a lot of other people. Also, his kindness and willingness to help others, even if it's out of his comfort zone
Tic:he is me in a lot of ways with the stuttering and ticking, and it's nice to have a character to show that part of me
Sol:he is just pure sunshine (also, he shows now love for kids, especially my nephews )

AAAHH THEM- I'm excited to talk about them when I can, the inability to watch Mutant Mayhem has made me turn back to my 2012 TMNT hyperfixation so-
Ask Game for Ships
11. What’s a song that describes their relationship? Or, what’s the song that they’ve deemed “their” song?
So, I actually made a whole playlist for them....like Douxilly and Punkbird, I'll probably share those someday if people are interested BUT FOR NOW-
A song that I would say describes their relationship pretty well, I would say is Like Morning Follows Night from the RWBY Volume 4 soundtrack- Their relationship is one of Min being someone who runs away, she ran away from her and her brother's apartment when they had a big fight about him not being home and always working (which is how she ends up meeting Leo because she had begged Mikey, who she had befriended quite well before them, for a place to stay until things cooled off) and someone who really feels the guilt and burden when she thinks something is her fault or she did something to mess up, meanwhile Leo, while he has those insecurities, is the leader of his group, he's the eldest of all his brothers and is always burying those insecurities in favour of being there for his family and his friends. It's them being there for each other, but its also Leo reassuring her that whatever has happened, whatever mistake is made, she can't give up and run, he'll be there for her no matter what while Min is scared her mistakes will put them in danger sometime. I may have went deep there but yeah-
If you were to ask what song they would deem to be their song, Min would jokingly say Fearless by Taylor Swift, purely because it's a nickname that she had basically stolen from it initially being more of a nickname Raph uses to make fun of Leo to something she calls him endearingly (still teasingly) cause she does think he's the fearless leader sometimes (he's her dork most other times tho) and she does think that song is pretty fitting.
Leo would say the song 好きだから (Because I Love You) is rather fitting for them, especially in terms of the lyrics upon translation of them.
17. What does a relaxing night in look like for them?
Cuddles.
They do spend a lot of nights in after patrols of the city, most definitely cuddled on the couch BUT ALSO Space Heroes binge. Which Min doesn't mind all too much since she likes the show enough and used to watch it for a while but she really enjoys the binges with Leo cause he's so into it.
He quotes lines from the show and his favourite character Captain Ryan, he geeks out over almost every scene, especially his favourites. It was just nice to see him relax and be just a happy excitable dork instead of needing to have so much on his shoulders as leader.
Just cuddled up on the couch with pizza and Space Heroes and Leo sometimes going on a ramble about the show while Min just intently listens to him.
30. Free space! Say something about this ship that you want to say!
Leo and Min having that rivals/enemies to friends to lovers type of arc with them which starts because Min sasses Leo when he is kind of hard on Mikey for bringing a stranger into the lair and essentially just telling him to back off but its a slow transition of Leo learning to trust Min cause she's Mikey's best friend (he needs more besties) and Min learning that Leo is strict but its only because he needs to protect his brothers and is looking out for Mikey too.
Couple that with them learning of a shared interest of Space Heroes and just...talking, they grow pretty close as friends before Min starts crushing on Leo and it only being mutual a while after he met Karai and got beaten up/betrayed by her initially. With Min's brother being 'kidnapped' being a catalyst for them to really bond closer when Leo is just there for her and to protect her and be the one to promise that they'd find her brother as...well as promise that she gets a home at the lair for as long as she needs.
Min asks him out first cause he's too much of a dork to do that and she wants to finally come clean and just go for it.
also yes Lemin is....basically just a pun for lemon if you say it right cause...i think its funny their ship name ends up sounding like a fruit-

CHIAKI KOMAEDA . and maybe chihiros if u feel inclined :3
I answered Chiaki's in the previous ask sooo it's Komaeda and Chihiro time!
KOMAEDA
favorite thing about them
Everything. love him a lot. Has been obsessed with him since my first watch of the playthrough almost four years ago. There's nothing you can do about liking him you just have to accept it. But I think I can say that I especially like the way he's written
least favorite thing about them
the way fandom treats him. It's super rare to see someone interpret him normally, without falling into either "uwu soft baby who did nothing wrong" or "insane freak without a sense of morality who loves to commit arson for the fun of it". I think his behavior in the prologue of sdr2 is the most accurate version of him
favorite line
His "huh?" in the 4th trial... I just find it pretty funny. The "Am I allowed to speak now?" also deserves mentioning. All his other memorable lines are SO memed in the fandom that I kinda even find them annoying lol xD
brOTP
I can't decide T^T I love the Soda, Fuyhiko and Nagito friendship but also recently I've been thinking of Sonia, Gundham and Nagito... I just think they have a lot in common,,, Or just Sonia. Also with Ibuki, he deserves some optimism and silliness in his life. I just want him to have friends man T^T

KOMANAMI but def not in cishet way. There's no way either of them is straight. Ngl, I first started liking them in a little seff shipping way because I relate to Nanami a lot xD I grew to love them outside of that pretty soon tho I just think they have a nice cute dynamic and will be very healthy and helpful to each other :)
nOTP
I'm not sure I have one?.. I used to hate komahina before because of the fandom but now I kinda like them. Maybe I could say komamiki but not in the "I hate it so much don't you dare talk to me about it". I used to ship it but then grew to like their dynamic as haters/very bitter friends at first who might become closer and kinder to each other later

Autistic! Like that makes so much sense for him (komanami autistic4autistic swag). Also he/they pronouns
unpopular opinion
sexuality discourse sucks and also often uses biphobic and/or stupid rhetoric. The fact that he didn't react inappropriately when he fell between Mikan's legs doesn't mean that headcanoning him as mspec isn't allowed! That's just a normal human behavior and you're weird!
song i associate with them
This is super predictable and basic but,,, hope by Jack Stauber. Ik the song is about addiction but it also fits Komaeda's relationship with hope. I mean, it is the thing that "keeps him going everyday" right? Also maaaaybe "pretty cvnt" (hate the name) but only because I feel like the lyrics could kinda be similar to Komaeda's self hatred lol. I would love to say more but I very rarely associate songs with fictional characters,,, maybe with my OCs at best but yeah sorry :(
favorite picture of them
THERE'RE SO MANY IT'S SO DIFFICULT but maybe this I KNOW THAT THIS ARTIST IS FAMOUS FOR SUPER BAD STUFF OKAY but he looks like a smiling samoyed here T^T
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CHIHIRO! This one is going to be a bit difficult because honestly, I never really thought much about her T^T I'm sorry I'm that person in the fandom that knows everything about two characters and almost nothing about the rest fglhk
favorite thing about them
I think her talent! I just find it very interesting and it makes me wonder how it would work with other characters and in different fields
least favorite thing about them
Once again, the way fandom treats her. The way how people can't see that the fact that dr is a very problematic franchise that has transphobic writing doesn't mean that it's okay and fine to take all of this at face value and accept it without processing
favorite line
I don't remember any lines from thh lol xD
brOTP
Chiaki and/or Naegi! I like to see Chihiro and Chiaki as siblings but either way they would get a long. I also feel like Naegi would be a good friend to her too
OTP
I don't really ship her with anyone I think? Tho I've seen some cute celeshiro art recently ( tho sadly the artist sees her as cis lol). I feel like they both can relate to the feelings of pretending to be someone you're not, esp if you hc Celestia as trans
nOTP
Don't think I have one?..
random headcanon
Loves hairclips. Has a big collection of very different ones for every occasion
unpopular opinion
Does trans Chihiro count as unpopular? Idk
song i associate with them
Sorry, I don't have one :(

I just find it funny xD

ok you mentioned it what would all of these fools go to karaoke songs be
I was just gonna pick songs from potential voice claims but since I'm not sure of those yet I'll avoid doing that and just go with songs that fit their vibes and themes.
Banner: I'm Not Calling You A Liar by Florence and the Machine. It is melancholy but sweet and allows her to be appreciative of her group which she can't always say in her own verbal words. Not a bad singer but is not a performer so some lyrics that should be belted are soft so as to not stand out, maybe just a tad flat due to shyness. Was most likely urged on stage and has the ads very enthusiastically cheering them on while they lament on how silly and embarrassing it all is. He still had fun in the end tho. 9/10 on the accuracy, 5/10 on voice.
Vidie: I Need a Woman to Love, Kesha Edition.Lloves the theatrics that can be involved in karaoke and wants a song that equally matches that. Was thinking of putting Hermit the Frog on her or Seventeen by Marina but so many pink ads are already Marian coded and it somewhat doesn't fit with Vidie's vibe to me. She like being the center of attention by provocing and this song does it for him. I imagine she more concerned with putting on a show than the lyrics so some things may sound off, just to get a point across or mess with the group... most likely Banner or Spam. 4/10 on voice (no control when singing) and 6/10 on accuracy.
Surv: Life in Her Yet by Rag N' Bone Man. I know you were thinking something really upbeat but I think Surv's singing voice is more suited towards mellow melancholy songs. It's probably Banner's tastes rubbing off on him or Audi's love of sentimental tracks seeping in, but he likes how they feel to sing and likes to direct the songs, especially ones like this one, to his partners. Plus it's nice to be smooth after all the intense peppiness he has to have for commercials and stuff. 7/10 on voice, 10/10 on accuracy.
Audi: Maple by Haley Kioko. This is a song that you don't necessarily need to be a strong or even great singer to sing. I like to think Audi would be playful and adlib with it, giggly like a teenager performing for their high school sweetheart(s). Audi is not a singer by any account and knows it and also doesn't care. He'll belt this song like it's a ballad for the audience and its partners but also like just them having fun. Lots of voice cracks and missed lines, maybe even asking the DJ to play something back so he can "nail it". 3/10 on voice, -100/10 on accuracy.
Spamton: Fear and Delight by the Correspondents. Idk if anyone saw the short animatic with the song but I can imagine a very not sober addispam giving the song all the energy he has and doing it pretty well. He, of course, misses some notes, but it's just the pace, tempo, and vibe he would nail if he had the confidence to do it sober. Plus, he could absolutely ham up the performance for the crowd and the other addisons. 8/10 on accuracy (the glitches mess him up) and 7/10 on voice ( a bit shy like Banner but also the glitches).
Now you may wonder what type of karaoke bar has this variety and range of songs, but you must remember this is the literal internet they live in, I think just about anything that was ever sung is at their disposal.

short review!
its tøp's new song, Next Semester. i immediately listened as it released. i didnt bother reviewing Overcompensate cus i was okay with the song. but this one is a of a let down for me.
(tw for mentions of suicide)
i love the lyrics. the storytelling on this one i found quite dark and sad but more blatant than usual. tyler isnt new to writing Very Dark topics, but i dont think he's been this upfront with a story. i think hes mostly more descriptive and poetic in the past (?). (i hope im using words correctly, its like ass o-clock as im writing this)
sounds like the songs talking abt a failed suicide attempt or an accident. the narrator talks abt how they sometimes get flashbacks but theyre getting better and wants to start fresh on a new school year. wether hes telling his own story, telling someone else's, or playing a character, is a bit unclear.
compared to other songs hes written within the same topic (i'll say like Guns for Hands or Migraine) hes less poetic. some songs can be blatant, especially recent ones (like Neon Gravestones and Redecorate) but Next Semester just straight up tells you what happens. not as sugarcoated as vessel or sai, not as poetic as some songs on trench either.
i enjoyed the lyrics quite. but sonically it let me down.
the song starts with what sounds like a rip-off of the ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop". at times, i dont mind stuff like this. pop punk can sound a bit too uniform and im used to it. but tyler sounds so sleepy... it lacks the energy needed to at least elevate a part thats boring and repetitive, especially at the start of a song. this continues for abt half of the song.
the second part is really pretty tho. with the keys and a pickup in energy with tyler Finally waking up his vocals. also a really anthemic chorus with the little "wooooaaaaooohhh" thing. i've listened to this song a total of 4 times after the release and im already singing along. and then theres the ukulele outro. reminds me of like 2018 when i would listen to cavetown, mxmtoon, all that kinda stuff.
overall the song sounds very nice but it cant be helped with the fact that it got REALLY dragged down by the first half. it got me thinking, was that punk part really necessary? cus it just didnt fit the vibe (of the lyrics and the second half of the track).
i have a feeling Clancy will be another mixed bag of songs.
4/10 -> 5/10
i hope we'll hear better tracks later on.
im sorry did i say "short"?
[edit: after listening a few more times, i also appreciated the transitions between parts arent jarring or awkward. also tge song sonically grew on me a little but still not a fan of the first half.]
[edit 2: i did make this review like half awake at Ass O'clock™ but holy shit this is the worst review i've written like what the hell was she yapping abt broo]

The Letter, Vocalized
(the ‘why’ of every song in my simon petrikov playlist- the poor dear i love him so much) heres the playlist -> https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2bFlf5AD54EyszuCKqGRVV?si=0bdff473d752467a
then all the actual writing is below the cut because this shit is 4700 words long. im obsessed. anyway BEEP BEEP
—- 1. Everything in its Right Place ~ Radiohead
*Simon doesn’t exactly have a right place at the moment per se- so this song leads more like a plea for this place, and the build of the instruments really matches a sort of spiral- it’s also got that nice eerie Radiohead feeling that’s inexplicably chilly, which is something you’ll be seeing A Lot of throughout the playlist cuz even tho a lot of these lyrics are spot on it’s also about the sound of the songs too. and this one just happens to be both and it’s lovely. i also fucking love the repetition of the lyrics "there are two colors in my head / what was it you were trying to say?" that could be the black/dark brown of simon himself and the drilling blue of the ice king \:) and then. forgetting immediately what he was talking about/what was happening- what was it you were trying to say? anyway i love this song very much*
—- 2. Grammar King ~ Flocks
*okay you know how i just mentioned the sound of the songs being important? well boom. here we go! a strange instrumental introspection to break the drone :3 it sounds like being in a blizzard (or fittingly a mental spiral) but it’s still so crisp and refined!! i love it cuz it’s got such a wonderfully off kilter feeling to it. when the fionna and cake title sequence played i was surprised at how __frantic__ it was?? and this song captures that same breathless feeling and franticness in a really nice and crisp way (plus the drums are really cool) and it holds the same, like, hallmarks of aivi and surasshu’s stuff they did for the steven universe battle scenes (which the music of fionna and cake in general feels like a sweet cousin to SU music (Looking At You Mx. Sugar Hi I See You) but either way it’s a very solid vibe and it go crazy i like it \:)!!*
—- 3. In Two ~ Will Paquin
*i think this fits very well as him singing to the idea of crown itself! "half of me is half of you now/.../you sit so high, like a cranium that rests on the spine /.../ can you feel me buckling beneath you" he sounds so soft (will paquin's voice is gorgeous) so it's almost as a love or reverence for his idolization of the crown :3 at the moment his quest is literally To Find and Have and Be it again, so i don't think he fully resents it- but it's definitely still an odd relationship with it, something so incredibly fascinating and i think there is a LOT to say about it! "in the end i won't escape from the sight of you.../is it even a game if in the end i let you kill me?"*
—- 4. The Place Where He Inserted the Blade ~ Black Country, New Road
*this song is so tender! it paints a picture of the past, immersive in memory. one bit i especially love is that with each new "Good morning" it could be interpreted as simon forgetting that part of himself again, benig wiped clean, falling into becoming the ice king again. \:) it's lovely! it also feels as if he's begging betty, the motif of "show me the place where he inserted the blade / where is your light / am i home?" is him calling out to her, asking where she is, where Golb is. show me the place where you are, betty, please. they're both clinging to these ideas of each other, and it's so hopeful and strained, and this song does a wonderful job of depicting it!!*
—- 5. The Mind Electric ~ Miracle Musical
*you really think that for one second i couldn't include the Token Song About A Guy Named Simon Going Insane? i feel like, moreso than other people i've seen, i really really really want to explore the idea of the repeated memory/identity loss really fucking with his head- it obviously has, and even though we may have seen more of this loss when he'd first gotten the crown, i'd love to dip my toes into the angst that it still continually hurts him to try and remember. citing my sources here, it's similar to jim in good omens- looking where the furniture isn't. anyway i went a bit on a tangent but point being this song represents this insanity! the sound of the song itself and the glitches/bits of samples like memories flitting in and out of his head, trying to remember himself against all odds, trying to fight the manic or strange urges that come with being the ice king, "my brain has claimed its glory over me/i've a good heart albeit insane" and he really is. the more time he spends trapped inside of himself, the more he questions his existence and reality, yea? that wretched goddamn crown, "spiraling down thy majesty". even though it's angsty i really really really want to see them delve way into this when he does reunite with the crown, more viciously than they ever could have back in AT.
doctor, i can't tell if i'm not me.*
—- 6. In Between ~ WILLIS
*some could argue this is a little too light bedroom-poppy of a sound for the purposes of this playlist, but the lyrics are wonderful! the whole introduction definitely gives the same meandering, aimless feeling he had when he was the ice king, reinforced with the line "this place still feels the same/i am bound in hindsight from now". you could also see "take me back to summertime" as a sort of take me away from the cold and ice, take me back to who i used to be, happy and unbroken- maybe thats a little of a stretch tho ;P and "meet me at a point in life when I feel more in control" framed as a last plea to betty, a perfect hopless little cherry on top to these poor dears scattered across spacetime \:)*
—- 7. The Bug Collector ~ Hayley Heynderickx
*this is a song betty sings to simon. with the different situations presented as small trivial things to the singer, and the subject of the song being scared over seemingly nothing, but they take care of it anyway. it's still worth it to them. this matches how betty treats ice king- he has his own set of motives and problems and thought processes completely seperate from simon, which yes is infuriating, but it's part of helping him, yes? this song sounds both defeated and resolute at the same time, which is a fantastic balance that is hard to strike. it reeks of the unwavering love between the two of them and it's very special to me*
—- 8. Evil ~ Interpol
*i feel like this is could be viewed in the context of simon ritualistically trying to get back to betty. "heaven restores you in life", as was done, "you're weightless, you are exotic/you need something for which to care" both things very true of betty. i also just really enjoy the sound of the song- it communicates a very certain desperacy and i love it \:) also the story of the animatronic Norman and the music video being of someone/something that distinctly doesn't belong in the place that they are, with simon not really belonging anywhere anymore- overall it's a really nice ensemble for this purpose, i may be a little biased tho thanks to norm my boy my baby haha*
—- 9. Bathed In Sound ~ Cosmo Sheldrake
*Fantastically, this song sounds like being underwater, melting into something. This, to me, is a bit more interpretive than the other songs on the playlist- of course we're not actually talking about whales, but i think "the wonder of that wild wet world beneath" could refer more to the sense of drowinging in the madness, the magic. The song presents it so slowly, so calmly, as if it is this warm and wonderful thing to sink into- and I'm sure for Simon, the idea of sinking back into that comfortable emptiness is extremely appealing at this point. He wants it. He needs it. Tense and cold and swallowing him whole, He Needs It.*
—- 10. Daydream / Wetdream / Nightmare ~ Saint Motel
*SO much of this song rings true with him!! "Well, I can die a happy man if I could be with you/behind these eyes I believe fantasies can come true" This is self-explanatory, he wants to be home with Betty. Find the time to be the man that you like to talk to/in dreams, it seems that I can be anyone you want me to, oh" The nature of dreams being of the subconscious mind, and the implications that Simon can in fact remember at least some of the things he percieves as Ice King (with lapses in those memories, of course, just like real dream remembering) is extremely curious. This whols song reads very idyllic and hopeful with the way the vocals are sang, and I love the fact that yes- against all idiot odds- the poor guy just wants to be himself, wants things to be concrete, just wants his wife back. The song itself seems to be split up in three pieces, same as the veritable phases of Simon/IK's lifetime- it matches very well, and represents the same sort of wistful nature he's got goin' on.*
—- 11. The Fool On The Hill ~ The Beatles
*If I haaaad to choose a song here that fits the most perfectly out of anything here- it might be this one. That could be the hyperfixation on the song talking, but, man. Man!! He really is just a fool on the hill!! The strange silly man with patches in his memory, sitting atop his icy mountain. A"And nobody wants to know him, they can see that he's just a fool." which is very true of the wayward motive of the princesses that he displays as IK. It's fantastic, I love this as an examination of his IK behavior. "And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round"- aptly implying those eyes don't belong to the Ice King, per se, because they're __Simon's__ eyes. Genius!! Unintentional connected genius!!!! Love it!!!!!*
—- 12. In an Ice Palace ~ The Music Tapes
*the title is a dead giveaway, and even though it doesn’t have lyrics, i still think it fits that like… somber whimsicality might be the term? of a magical world gone wrong \:) and the melody is gorgeous and chilling in all the ways it should be. whether you see it as a reuniting with the crown and his return to ice king, or as a wistful and awful recollection of it, up to listener’s interpretation because i can and will think of it as both. it is crystalline and strange and i love it very, very much \:) I also really love the almost Rankin/Bass or Charlie Brown feelings of it? The vocalizations and harmonies feel so fantastic in that sense, and it really drives home the quaint nostalgic winter feeling like not much else could in this specific sense, while still being unrefined enough to represent the strangeness of IK.*
—- 13. Waves ~ Bahamas
*"There's a part of it, that I'll miss/at the heart of it, your cold kiss"- god, he misses Betty, and even now when he's meandering through worlds he misses who he used to be. this song is an extremely tender and wistful apology to her, and to marcy, and to himself perhaps. he knows it was too much, and the motif of the waves is excellent for this- waves in the ocean are scary and unforgiving, always ready to sweep you under. "And when I knew I'd become the ocean's slave/I just stayed" (when he'd gotten taken over by the crown he just. kept it. he tried to use it to keep marceline safe until he knew it was too late. and he became far, far too attached, the easy comfort of forgetting. it's horrid!!!! i love it*
—- 14. Room with a View ~ Russ Morgan and his Orchestra
*I picked up Russ Morgan from Everywhere at the End of Time, but out of all his songs (even the more uncanny ones,) i felt this one fit the best. this is the moment betty sacrificed herself- the "room" with the view being the closing of golb's stomach, him being the last thing she say- it feels romantic, even aside from the lyrics, the instruments themselves do- much of 40's-50's connotates to be. also take a minute to imagine if they'd listened to this song together back when they were both human. danced to it, even. i'm a sucker for motifs and goddamn.*
—- 15. Video Killed the Radio Star ~ The Buggles
*i’ve always loved how sad this song presents itself!! another big sense of defeat covered in whimsy, i feel like it’s either ice king killed the man who metaphorically was once simon, or vice versa, and the Guilt that he might feel over either one of these situations..! it also kind of plays into the fact that a remote is their interdimensional tool when he goes on the journey with f&c hehe, we can’t rewind we’ve gone too faaar~ it’s such a general well-rounded song for stuff like this it’s so tonally interesting and that’s the kind of thing i am loving for this playlist If Ya Couldn’t Fuckinf Tell Hahahahhehehehe :3*
—- 16. No Surprises ~ Radiohead
*this song has always connotated to me a sense of “please for fucks sake just let the guy REST!!” which is extremely true here. I feel like it can also be read in a sense of memory loss- he starts losing his functions again, things that *should* tip his mind off or remind him of things but don’t, alarm bells that should be ringing in the face of danger are silent, instinct and memory gone. the instrumental is also extremely cold and somber and you know that’s a recurring theme at this point-*
—- 17. The Funeral ~ Band of Horses
*Help, my inner criminal minds nostalgia is showing … anyway, all things considered. Spencer Reid has some similar things going on of odd emotional capacities, schizophrenia (connected to the idea of insanity,) and just. the general idea of someone insanely intelligent being shadowed by this looming reputation, but still having that lost deer sort of empathy.. and in general, the song as a stand-alone I’ve always seen it as someone waiting for death (their __own__ funeral in a sense) and he definitely seemed ready to embrace that as a way to not be so empty and lonely, and maybe see Betty once more. It’s very interesting to read him like this, and again, it’s the same sort of hopelessness he feels in the beginning and Prismo’s episode. Poor honeybun.*
—- 18. Cold Island ~ My Singing Monsters
*This one definitely seemed like a necessary edition, it’s always read as isolation and the mental shift and resulting backwards appreciation that causes? “Look at the stars in the big black ink,/tell me what you feel and tell me what you think./Is it cold outside? Is it cold out?” holds such a deliciously dark weight to it [that tiktok found and stomped into the ground, but it still applies nonetheless]. It’s just.. so gorgeous, and solemn, and for an MSM song it’s pretty damn good- it’s complexity and layers are quite similar to Another Certain Unidentified Man’s mental complexity, yeah?*
—- 19. Forevertime Journeys ~ naran ratan
*Another simple instrumental of Vibes, this is windy and soft, holding an uncanny sense in its detuned twinkles. i also love the sort of windchime essence of it, it's so very gentle and soft just as he really is down inside. i have a massive love for these sorts of soft things, little breaks from the madness, a bit of peace. light glinting through the ice, perhaps. it's wonderful, concise, and thoughtful.*
—- 20. Bitter Sweet Symphony ~ The Verve
*ohh? is that a timeless anthem against the dreary drone of normalcy i hear????? something that simon might resonate with considering his strange relationship with normalcy and being exploited for just how perfectly mundane he is???? hrmm, yes it is! and in fact his entire existence up until now has been extre,ely bittersweet- to be sentenced to this, after a life of wonder and magic, SURROUNDED by wonder and magic? i thonk this really represents te catalyst of him missing being part of the madness... everything is far too quiet now. he had gotten used to the loud static of memory and silly brashness of being under the crown that now, all seems lonelier than ever.*
—- 21. Bluebird of Misfortune ~ Toby Fox (Deltarune)
*Someone completely taken over by ice-related magic… though in a different fashion, it definitely makes me think of Snowgrave. Slowly succumbing to a power quiet and strange. The song itself is also eerie but still light in that way- asking a question of what used to be there and what it has become now. Perhaps I’m reading into it too much and not articulating it well enough, it’s hard for such a double entendre like this is, but in a sense he’s both Noelle __and__ Berdly as it relates to snowgrave. the destruction of his old self. the idea of trying to fight back against this thing, uncanny and unwavering, coercing you into forgetting the relationships with those you held dear and simply becoming as magically powerful as possible? Yeah, i think we can all see it..*
—- 22. Philadelphia ~ Alt-J
"Am I cold, I cannot tell." (True!! I don't think he's able to feel cold in any sense anymore.) The beginning sets up an extremely melancholy tone, extremely fit with the rest of the playlist's purpose. The guitar itself echoing as it does, and the high chilling strings- i love it. It's also fairly raw and a little more... darkly intimate might be the word? Not in an odd way of course, but I definitely think Simon's mind is darker than we'll get to see on screen, especially with his longing for Betty. Y'all already know I'm obsessed with the loss of identity, the being stuck between two poles, two bastions of existence on different ends of the same coin- "And I'm losing my ability to fathom/'Awake' and 'not awake'" like damn true pop off*
—- 23. The Nowhere King ~ Centaurworld
*A media song that I feel kind of goes hand-in-hand with how AT handles Simon’s story in general, and the sense of eerieness that surrounds it. I think we can agree that him becoming Ice King again is endgame one way or another (my implications of this i am not sure i’m just Scared of it) and the sense that it will not be all he’s been wishing, and he will fall to it again. even though the concept of the nowhere king is different, i do think it’s that he’ll essentially be a nothing king instead. I don’t think this is going to solve the emptiness, the sense of loss, and potentially losing his memory again will Absolutely take a toll on him.*
—- 24. Potatus Et Molassus ~ Over the Garden Wall
*Another related media song, this sort of somber tone is very very special to me, and the whole idea of succumbing to the Beast after a long time of trying to fight it (becoming the Ice King after a long time of trying to build himself back up from it) and the idea of it being ever-present, waiting for you. ~~Also i used to be a huge Bad End Friends fan so. it has a soft spot there :3~~ The choir resonanting with that kind of antiquated sense of death or eerieness does mirror the fact that simon has been going this for years. and years. but he still holds all of those now completely historical values and I feel like in the "endgame" of the crown he will return to that kind of solemn funeral-like nature. it's giving up, after all.*
—- 25. Kiss Me, Son of God ~ They Might Be Giants
*I aaaaalmost wasn’t gonna add this one, but. then i thought about the contrast of simon prime to the other Simons (namely the Winter King) and by god, it shows the Possibility of what he could be. and kind of describes their weird kinship/relationship/whatever it was?? The song really talks about a sense of defeat to me almost, and it also touches on the sense of how he would react to so many people loving him at the moment.. the world really is screaming “kiss me son of god” to him, yeah? and being Ice King in general could be considered a godlike pedestal in some senses, even if he’s not taken seriously. i have so many thoughts about this song*
—- 26. The Sea of Tranquility ~ The Music Tapes (ft. Orbiting Human Circus)
*Ggghhh another song i tried so hard not to add cuz i’m OBSESSED with it and i put it on like every playlist.. but there’s definitely begging for solace in “oh, we’ll be old and weary friends.. god bless that all this never ends” and it’s such a soft and raw song i love it. ifsmgkfnejkf it sounds like him pleading for his old life back, a life where he is important and seen, or maybe begging to stay in this limbo where he doesn’t have to forget? there’s so many ways you could read this but it just reads like someone so, so weak begging the universe for comfort \:-) plus there’s my bias towards the song bc i just really love it.. another elephant 6 represent moment*
—- 27. goodnight nebula ~ EMI//NOVA
*okay yeah, maaaybe this is a shameless self plug. and it's again an instrumental focused on describing the magic and element of ice itself with crystalline tones, because at that point it's a hugely important part of his character, yeah? even as simon, it's inescapable. i wonder if IK ever went out and looked over the mountaintops to see the sunrise. and simon, back there, faintly watching, remembering. it's a nice breath of fresh air, tender and contemplative, methinks.*
—- 28. Heartaches ~ Al Bowlly
*Internally I fought with myself over this one because this song is starting to become extremely overused in fandom spaces as Everywhere at the End of Time became more mainstream, but really, it fits the energy of Simon so much better than any other cases I've seen it being used in, what with the deas of depersonalization and memory loss. And of course, obviously, the endless Sisyphus love story of him and Betty. It's just a burning memory, after all. There's not a ton I can say about the song that hasn't already been said somewhere, in some capacity, but it stiiiil does indeed do very well to describe the solemn tradgedy of Simon Petrilov with the very sounds of the past he held dear.*
—- (Bonus- not on spotify yet!) 29. flurry fugue - EMI//NOVA
*i'm not sure if anyone realizes yet that i literally wrote this song to describe how i see simon??? magical, eerie, yet sweet.... and of course it's called fugue because that was exactly what he was as ice king- and the song decays a little over the course of the runtime, just as he did. i have a tendency to write these soft instrumental songs and i do think it relfects the style of the shows' music very well too! i've had a lot of good feedback that displays it's doing what I want it to, but i don't know if anyone knows this is LIterally dedicated to him?? if anyone has picked up that on the cover.. \:) i love him so much guys you have no idea*
~~~~~~
Honorable Mentions that I couldn't/wouldn't add
—- No Children ~ The Mountain Goats
*It’s a huge trigger song and I can’t physically listen to this without spiraling, so I don’t want it on the playlist, but. I still think it fits his story. The kind of last-hurrah flippant hopelessness he has, especially showcased in Prismo’s episode, god I’m glad Fionna and Cake are helping fix that even in some sense because THE POOR DEAR NO. it’s such a ridiculously tragic song for a tragic man. i do think he could be singing it to betty as a sort of finality.. not that there’s gonna BE ANY cuz i don’t WANT THERE TO BE FINALITY unless it is HAPPY…. :)! it also really goes to show that he's been in his own sort of living hell for so long- it begs the question of whether or not betty was selfish to try and guarantee his future to be long and meandering by sacrificing herself, instead of. well. "i hope we both die," this song is also just too fuckin tragic so i dont have a lot of Text Evidence here cuz if i look at the lyrics i will cry so !! you get the idea tho.*
—- Mind Electric Demos/Inside the Mind of Simon ~ Miracle Musical
*They’re not on Spotify, but if I had my way, I would add much more of the Mind Electric demos, they all show different facets and I love them all they are my children and like. It’s Simon. He Has a Mind. It’s Broken Up and Insane, Yeah? Yeah. We already went over this in The Mind Electric in detail so i’ll save you all that but point is i want it As Much as possible on here :3 (also can we talk about how in demo 2 the agonizing screams sounded like simon AND THEN SHIFTED TO THE LOWER AND MORE GRAVELLY CADENCE OF ICE KING. WTF. MADE FOR HIM)*
—- Biggering (Demo) ~ The Lorax
*I didn’t end up adding this one simply cuz the lyrics fit Winter King!Simon more than Our!Simon, even though the tone of the song and distress and cadence still really fits our simon.. it could be connected to him trying to get to Betty, but I feel like that’s not exactly Biggering in the same sense as trying to get away from something? It could still apply to him trying to get away from being the Ice King but i feel like it also doesnt quiiiite fit now that his motives have changed towards it anyway.. we’ll see what happens as the season progresses tho…..*
~~~~~~
by the way! i likely will add more to this playlist, but this is already a whole fuckton of analysis and connection to write out and it took me Days to actually shove it on paper so for future entires just Ask me why i included it if it doesn't become apparent in and of itself!
~~~~~~
--
anyway yeah is it apparent that i fucking love this guy yet? i’m just. i’m so Fucking bent out of shape over it i LOVE HIM. \:)
for some of these there is an extent of "you've gotta hear it to get what i mean" bc i can only describe so much here without being insanely redundant (and i feel like i have been anyway) so please do listen to the playlist i am very proud of it and insanely obsessed with it If You Can't Tell
hes so much more than just a sopping wet cat istg y'all. smiles so hard at you. anyway thank you for reading it means a lot you stuck with me to the end
Oof I got caught up in another hyperfixation writing a desert duo fic so it's taken me far too long to get around to this, but TADAAAAAA, playlist with all the songs in a nice order that also makes sense for the fic. Most of them are specific lyric wise towards characters/events/whatever in sorry it's locked.
This playlist's roughly split up into chapters, so the songs for chapter 1 of the fic are: You Put A Spell On Me (Austin Giorgio) to Monsters (All Time Low) — 11 songs
The songs for chapter 2 are: That's What You Get (Paramore) to Favourite Crime (Olivia Rodrigo) — 18 songs
The songs for chapter 3 are: Soapy Water (Chase Petra) to everywhere, everything (Noah Kahan) — 9 songs
The songs for chapter 4 are: Crash (Neovaii) to There It Goes (Maisie Peters) — 3 songs (tho I'll probably add more once I start writing that chapter, those are so far just guesses of songs that I think fit my outline for ch. 4)
The last three songs on the playlist are songs that fit the fic I have planned based around what happens in entry 80 (and after) in the Sorry, It's Locked version of Marble Hornets. Because I love to torture myself, and the characters, and have planned out an absolutely evil version of entry 80 for them.
Cos I haven't tortured Jay enough as it is /sarc
Honestly I could probably go into detail about my Sorry It's Locked thoughts regarding most of the songs on this playlist and why they're there. It's so fun comparing the Jam songs to the Jaylex songs, like, it really does show the different relationships pretty well :] there were so many songs I wanted to put in the playlist that didn't quite fit both lyrically and sonically where I'd wanna put them. Like, Miss Missing You by Fall Out Boy was meant to be on there, but the lyrics felt like Jay thinking about Alex while he's with Tim, but the music itself lended itself better to being somewhere nearer the start of the playlist.
Uh, anyway, enjoy I guess, I'm very proud of this playlist, and the fic honestly, I managed to order the songs in a way that flows nicely when it needs to, and kinda also follows the events of the story, especially for the chapter 2 songs I think. You can ask me about any of the songs if you wanna, cos I'd love to rant about the lyrics and the sounds of the songs in more detail if I haven't already. Anything to talk about my baby (the fic)
I added like five songs to my sorry it's locked playlist, so that shit has like nearly 50 songs in it now. Half of them are just songs I liked already and then went "huh, this feels Sorry It's Locked Coded" honestly, but I love it. It feels like listening through it just describes the fic so well, like, I even have it all arranged with Jaylex songs at the start of the playlist, then Jam songs at the end.
Honestly it has so many more soft songs in it than I expected, like, for both Jam and Jaylex. I can't help focussing on the angst of that fic in the playlist rather than the smut lol.
Honestly, I might put it into a YouTube playlist or something (because Spotify hates me and I hate it) and post the link to it here, cos I'm actually so proud of it. It's a good playlist by my standards (which are low, because I don't know how to make playlists lmao)
here i am with the second ask like i said. name of the .flow fansong is OUT OF SORTS by OrgansDotOrg on youtube (.) com /watch?v=FFMt_ACOUdM
short but sweet! seeing people in the comments talking about .flow filled me with life, ngl. and i will admit this might be my own bias but it kinda feels like a spiritual successor to ghost and pals's oxidation and dream monsters? definitely not intentionally one, but something about the rhythm, and the way the lyrics use imagery to try and get things about .flow across... idk food for thought.
AYE NICE! [Clickable link for those that don't wanna copy pasta]
This is really cool! God feel you there, seeing yn/fg content and other fans out in the wild is such a joyous experience. Think it's cause it's such a niche it's always a surprise to find out someone else has heard of it. That sorta, "YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS? I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE! I'M SO HAPPY THERE ARE OTHERS" thing. Especially considering a lot of these games haven't seen any new material for years and probably never will, it's nice knowing there's others that were affected as much as you and still care for it. seeing how many people get excited for lolrust's anniversary streams is like that too heh
Hmmm, can see why you'd say that. Know nothing of either artist but it wouldn't be surprising if Ghost was an inspiration for Organs. Will throw out there, this sorta theater/carnival vibe seems to be fairly common in English Vocaloid songs [though i have next to no knowledge so it could just be me happening to get these songs a lot or something]. Plus writing lyrics that reference things in a way that isn't too literal or vague while fitting to a rhyme/rhythm is difficult, and you only have so much to work with in a game like .flow [esp since it has such a strong central theme, if that's the right wording for it]
I'm no lyricist by any means but have messed around with writing some and tho it'd be an entirely different genre [its me, if I ever make a .flow fansong song it's gonna sound like MIW] I could see how trying to get them to reference the game would result in it sounding similar-ish. Ex:
Hell is my home, my own room will be my tomb Chained to machinery meant to save me, yet all it does is keep the nightmare going. - Cut off my limbs and let this rotten blood stain the concrete The white hospital walls are just an illusion [can't you see the flowers cover graves?] The demon I fought down so long takes its grip and starts to seethe I'm no longer a person, just a fucking disease
As said, tis hard to make references without being too literal while still making sure you have enough there for people to be able to figure out what you're talking about heh.
buuuut yeah, really cool song and could absolutely see it at least being an indirect/accidental spiritual successor to Oxidation. Also huge thank you for sharing both song and album!! There's so much incredible fanwork out there that slips under the radar I am more than happy to try to get stuff more attention, plus I honestly love hearing other people talk about or sharing things they like ◠⸜⸝◠
okay, quick, Headcanon time!
Among the deltarune cast, who listens to what bands? Go!
ok hear me out i dont listen to specific bands and you can really probably tell a lot about my taste in music by this but ill try my best lol
kris likes lemon demon. their favorite song is probably touch tone telephone and i like to think that when they met spamton they were just like ‘ah shit touch tone telephone vibes’ lmao. not much more to it theyre a simple kid they hear lemon demon they happy
noelle gives me the vibes of the one person in the friend group who listens to music just. for fun. on its own. like not while doing something else she just sits there and listens like a maniac. she says she doesnt have a favorite artist or band but her whole spotify liked songs list full of paramore songs says otherwise. shes also probably partial to cavetown. probably also has a playlist just called ‘susie <3′ filled with the most wholesome sappy love songs youve ever heard. like pull out ‘something entirely new’ and ‘despair’ for this playlist because she is dying on the floor crying in the club w/ this one
if you ask susie she’ll say she listens to penelope scott which is. true. she probably says her favorite song is cigarette ahegao but its actually hammerhead
berdly likes lemon demon also but his favorite is cabinet man and kris and him will get into a fist fight over which is better one day just you wait. he also likes really shitty boybands and kris is the only one who knows and its very good blackmail material. his favorite song is bye bye bye but he is in denial. i think he listens to game osts in public tho. especially persona because the music is just that good. but he can and will fight you if you dare say the correct opinion that the persona 5 the animation intro is a fucking banger because ‘its not in the same style as the game and is a disgrace to the game’s legacy’ shut the fuck up berdly
ralsei probably likes lilina flores. good vibes all around. rises the moon is a vvv nice song to him but he also maybe likes devil town. i also think he listens to the hamilton soundtrack on the side and he knows all the words to my shot and one day he’ll just sing the whole song in front of the fun gang and theyll be horrified by his sheer power
queen likes bo burnham no elaboration necessary
spamton also likes bo burnham but has exponentially worse taste and his favorite song is repeat stuff.
jevil doesnt have a favorite artist or band but he does think his spotify playlist is top tier despite it being a disjointed mess with no theme or vibe and one second youll be listening to lofi zelda music and the next youre hit with fucking bye bye bYE AGAIN WHY DOES THAT SONG KEEP COMING UP-
sweet cap’n cakes get into fist fights over music frequently because nobody there has good taste according to everyone else there but if you asked them what specifically the others listen to none could give you a straight answer
seam doesnt have a specific favorite artist and they to whatever they feel lie. although they have been humming passing through for the past week because damn that songs catchy so. yeah.
rouxls likes pretty much any musical and his current favorite is 36 questions but it changes every 8 minutes. my man really be singing ‘ONE THING, I CAMETH OUTETH HERE FOR ONE THING, AND THAT ITTY-ETH BITTY-ETH ONE THING WAS TO FORGETETH ABOUTETH YOUUUUUUUUUU’. thats not a joke he edits the lyrics to fit him better.
lancer likes splat noises
