so that archon quest, huh. Would be absolutely thrilled to hear what u have to say about fontaine act V :] i love all your takes on furina & neuvillette & fontaine as a whole, and of course childe [pretty much an honorary fontanian with how he unintentionally got wrapped up in everything whoops]

Oh boy, I have so many thoughts. To start with some non-spoilerly stuff: I loved it so much. I'm not sure if I'll say it's my favorite Archon Quest yet (I think I would have to go through some of the older ones), but I think it's safe to say Fontaine overall as an arc is my favorite. Even its weakest part (the prison stuff, tbh it was a pacing issue) was still really solid and the ending, while not perfect, really landed. Genshin continued the trend from Sumeru of having the playable characters really take the stage and god there were some great standouts (Navia/Neuvi/Furina to name my favs, but I also loved my fatui and there really isn't anyone I've disliked). And well, the quest (and Furina's chara quest) made me cry like a baby, so that's a win.

Tbh, I think my biggest issue, wasn't even really an issue with the story but just a case of I had a very clear idea of what I wanted out of it (the woes of writing speculative fic pfft) and when it wasn't that I'm like "awww darn". Thats on me, and I genuinely really loved what we got, but it do be like that sometimes haha.

Spoilers below, oh boy (also my Furina fic spoilers too lol).

Eldritch abomination Furina I'll mourn u forever. I can't complain because Furina splitting herself in two to go fuck u to the heavens is such a boss ass move I can't haha. Okay, but I will say, even if I'm probably the only one, I do wish they brought some Remuria stuff up in the main quest. They had the perfect set up with Ajax being there with his Greek myth references and just ahhhh, one can hope they do something with it later. But yes, just know it's my silly headcanon that Focalors just lied about being an Oceanid to Neuvi and is one of King Remus's fucked up Primordial Sea experiments that maybe caused the Abyss rift at the fall of Remuria.

But yes, Furina, Furina, I'm crying. She really destroyed the girl failure accusations in the most glorious way possible. She literally didn't fail once (either of her), she plotted out a plan to trick the heavens, give back what was stolen, and save her people and she did it perfectly. As you're probably well aware, I'm a big fuck u Celestia gal, so it was just so satisfying to see her just obliterate the throne (even when I was crying haha). And honestly, super relevant to the state of the real world, but her giving back sovereignty to Neuvi in my mind is a very clear decolonization metaphor. Ages past descenders came to Teyvat, killed the dragons and created their own order, and now Focalors is returning that power back to said dragon (or well, the dragon's heir, it's a bit vague if Neuvi's literally the old dragon's soul reincarnated or just the body).

The entire scene between Neuvi and Focalors was great, though I will admit I have one issue with it (and even then I go back and forth on it haha). Neuvi in that scene doesn't have a big attachment to Focalors. What I mean is that ultimately Neuvi only ever knew Furina (which side note I'll get into this next, but I do view them as the same person, but still), and with Focalors' 'death' he's not technically losing anything, the person he's sad over will still be there. Like don't get me wrong, he's very empathetic and can be sad over this person who is dying for them, but I feel like it could have been even more heartbreaking if he had met Furina/Focalors before the split, or he had interacted with Focalors somehow in the past, and so in this moment he wasn't just watching Furina's sacrifice, but the sacrifice of someone he shares memories with. But that's me being picky haha and not really a critique on the writing.

But yes, Furina! Focalors! As I previewed before, I'm going to come out swinging with a possibly hot take. They are, and always were the same person. Yes, Focalors is the divinity, but as we see after Furina is allowed to rest her persona, Furina is also super mature and knowledgeable. In Neuvi's flashback quotes of Furina, it's her softly giving important advice about living with humanity, which is what Focalors was all about. And much like Furina, Focalors loves preforming, she loves humans, she gets all excited about Furina and her future, and is sad she won't get to experience it.

Not to remotely downplay Furina's suffering (because holy shit my poor girl), but Focalors too played her role. Unlike Furina who had Neuvillette and all her friends post this, Focalors was all alone in the Oratrice, waiting for the day she had to kill herself. Furina, has the promise of a future, despite all the suffering she endured to get there. She gets the reward of a happy life as a human surrounded by people who love her, and while it was touch a go for a bit, she was told one day her play would end. In contrast, while Focalors didn't have the same anxiety that Furina had, Focalors knew from the beginning she would never get to see her people saved. Technically she, like Furina, didn't even know if it would even happen. She put her faith in Neuvillette to follow through, and while she had the utmost faith in him, she could never know for certain. But much like her mirror Furina, Focalors weighed her suffering over the people of Fontaine's, and never once faltered. Furina was willing to possibly kill herself via primordial seawater in order to keep up her ruse, whose to say Focalors wasn't the same. Smiling at Neuvillette until the last moment because she couldn't risk him interfering, hiding away her anxieties and sorrow, so he wouldn't look so sad. Furina's performance ended, Focalors' never will.

Focalors was so certain she couldn't be human, but as we see from the Oceanids it was totally possible. And even more vitally, we see from the other Archons it's possible. They might fumble around a bit (some more than others, looking at u Ei), but they are learning and immersing themselves with their people. While not an Archon, it's the same with Neuvillette. Focalors should have had the same opportunities as Furina and the rest (mostly because she is Furina), but the world isn't kind, and that's why her sacrifice hurts.

If u can't tell I have a lot of feelings about Focalors/Furina and while I can appreciate a joke about Focalors giving Furina anxiety, I'm also like, they are literally the same person working together, she deserves the world (all of her).

But yes, I can go on and on about Furina, but for now I'll move onto our boy Childe. To get it out of the way, a little disappointed that we really got no answers about him. Poor guy didn't really have any lines. Also, not big on Skirk's design, mostly the outfit. Putting her next to Dain and uh, yeah (like don't get me wrong don't mind the color scheme and all, but could she not have gotten some kind of armor. Or look more like Foul Legacy or something idk).

But onto more happier notes, I'm so happy to see Childe finally getting to do well in a fight. I know it's a meme for him to get beaten up, but my dude is the Vanguard, let him win sometimes (he doesn't technically win here, but he was fighting an eldritch whale monster for ages and helped save Fontaine, I'm giving it to him). And Skirk, while her design is mostly less to be desired, I'm winning on guessing her hair and eye color haha. Also, while I'll always love my version, I'm liking her personality so far. Her yeeting Childe, while I admit took me out a bit (I thought she threw him farther into the Abyss and was like, "uh guys, yall worried about my poor boy here???" and then was a bit baffled at them saying he was fine) was so fucking funny. It's cool to learn "Foul Legacy" refers to a literal person, and I found the fact that Skirk's relationship with Foul is basically the same as her relationship with Childe very amusing. And it seems she's Khaenri'ahn, maybe? Also, I thought she was listing off her master's other names at first, so when she said Gold I got super hyped that I guessed correctly about the narwhal being Rhine's in my fic, but then they were like nope pfft. I'll take it as a win.

Sidenote, Alice and Rhine where are yoooouuuuuu.

Ultimately, while I enjoyed the Childe and Skirk stuff, it really just feels like a set-up for later stuff. Which isn't really a problem, but I was hoping we'd get something a bit more concrete. Like, I thought we were going to get answers about the "it" that Skirk saw in him, and it would have to do with the Narwhal, but now it seems those were mostly unrelated??? While I did find baby Ajax accidentally waking up a big world eating monster up kind of hilarious, it did feel a little incidental, if that makes any sense. Like, Fontaine's doom was an accident and not the result of anyone's choices. But that might just be a me thing. (and the quest needed more Arle, where was she??? my not really based on anything theory is that whenever we get Furina (or maybe Nevui's) 2nd character quest, Arle will be the boss fight. A reverse of the normal final Harb boss fight during the Archon quest)

Okay, because I really don't want to end on a downer (as I said uptop, I genuinely adored this quest haha), here are some minor spoilers from the Narzissenkreuz Ordo quest that have me by a chokehold.

And this one just makes me laugh. Whichever Ordo member wrote this, I vehemently disagree with u and am on Khaenri'ah's side with this one. I'd much rather have bread then some higher power nonsense. In my fic I tend to write Khaenri'ah more akin to a modern nation than a fantasy one, and its nice to see me vindicated pfft.

Other random notes, enjoyed that the Fatui weren't just cartoonishly evil in both the main and world quests. I like some nuance. I saw that Sandrone hint, that was fun. Though it makes me wonder when we'll get Columbina lore (especially because if the theory about Harbinger boss fight order based on the Constellation circle is true, she should be showing up soon. Though also I half think that order will break because if it doesn't, it means Sandrone will probably be the final Harb boss which is an odd choice.) As revealed on Furina's weapon, Egeria being around during Remuria raises so many questions around the timeline of events. Genshin pls tell me when the Archon war takes place in all this pls (if they tell us in some lore I haven't read yet, whoops). (also on egeria, I mourn my version but hey, she exists in my heart and in my fics pfft. I can't wait to write her in smfwtwd and venti fic, though she's getting a new name for confusion and better symbolsism)

the contrast between Neuvi and Furina after the quest is so funny and sad. Neuvi "Furina is the best, I want her to be happy". Furina, "Everyone hates me, Neuvillette most of all, I can never face him again." And the other Archons, they are all like Furina, wow u are so cool (which just highlights Neuvi's utter disdain for them other than Nahida haha).

And most vitally, Furina and Venti should be best friends. Musically inclined performers who definitely aren't plotting to overthrow the heavens. I think they are neat (they also both have Latin names!).

Qbomb's Crackershock for Sans whose pseudonym is Fuse. Don't yet have a cemented au-ified design for that guy--I need to finagle in the blues and teals.

I'm tempted to use this one for Frisk but they're not relevant until after The Catastrophe, which won't be a thing here or probably ever, lol.

But if I do persist long enough this song is totally Bunny-haunting/taunting/still obsessing over-Fuse after the fact and this one actually fits for confrontation purposes haha

Alphys doesn't follow in his footsteps to manipulate that fish she's craving. She doesn't graduate beyond stalker. (She does, however, become friends with her boss and his boyfriend. She knows the things that go on between them but she's smart enough to know not to try to interfere. Given her specialty in Monster physio/bio (she wants to become the Royal Physician one day - she is sure that her research into DT will gain her the position; she works at the lab as an assistant to be able to gain access to what she needs), she'll sometimes use her boss as a guinea pig to test out new cures or medical procedures. If he's gonna go and get himself hurt anyway... Why not?)

This song works for a potential Chara-Bunny alliance I've been considering (and have since decided to go with): ○ Chara was murdered and eaten by the vulture-Royal Scientist while out and about with Asriel one horrible day. They tried many times to Reset and avoid this fate, but they failed each time. As it was ultimately a complete and utter shitshow, their Soul wasn't contained nor was it absorbed. They've haunted the Underground ever since. ○ Until they decided to meddle a 'little,' anyway; in a failed timeline, Bunny was on the precipice of dying courtesy of fucking with Fuse a little too much. Chara decided to lend a hand, merging very posthumously with him after striking up some sort of deal, granting him the ability to Reset and Remember. ○ Chara's end goal is [???]. Bunny's end goal is the perfect "happily Forever after." ○ This is probably how Bunny managed to break the level cap. Additionally, the False Window likely shows Chara's stats prior to their demise. (They were rather a frail human.) ○ This of course means that Asriel is still alive and plagued with guilt over their adopted sibling's murder--and the current King of the Underground. Asgore and Toriel are still together and really old; they both inhabit the quaint Ruins home. ○ When Bunny inevitably does the thing that permakills him (more or less), Chara makes a deal with Fuse and gives him the same abilities they gave Bunny (Reset & Remember). He Resets. Of course, this doesn't bring Bunny back (not in whole) -- the Universe compensates. Alphys becomes the Royal Scientist in his stead. So on and so forth. ○ When Frisk falls, they are hostile. They have to contend with a monster that can Reset and Remember as well right off the bat, though. ○ Every Reset brings a little garbled void-twisted piece of Bunny back. ○ It's Fuse's own personal hell!

◘ As for Chara "Splatter(ed)" Dreemurr, they're a nice kid, really. A tad bit fucked up considering they've died horribly multiple times and spent who knows how along alone gradually burning out, but decent. Mischievous, playful, impish, kind of pixie-like. They were murdered, and this guy was about to be murdered, too; they need a host before they burn out completely, and this guy doesn't want to die; they can fix that by granting him the ability to Reset and Remember (which is the best they can do at this point), which also grants them a host which means they won't eventually disappear for good… And they're curious! Can he ultimately escape Death's clutches, or will he fail, too?

◘ Not wanting to ultimately burn out is also why they make the same deal with Fuse when Bunny inevitably ends up 'dead for good.'

◘ They're avoiding Asriel for their own reasons - namely, they don't want to like, torture the poor guy by making him remember them, or something.

◘ Chara's name is rarely, if ever uttered in the Underground. Asriel gets very upset when he hears their name and remembers the day they were murdered right in front of him while all he could do was scream and cry.

• This AU is, shamelessly, a dumping place for my kinks. This is self-explanatory 😪 but not relevant because he doesn't want you.

• For the sake of interaction WDG's probably created some app that lets him connect to the multiversal internet or make portals or something loll I dunno 😪 this whole shindig is a work in progress baybee.

• If his Sans were to fall before his time this crazy idiot would inject them both with DT to form an amalgamate. No dying. Only staying together. Forever. :)

• He saw this lovely assistant of his punch out a monitor during work hours because of infuriating technical difficulties or something of the sort and thought to himself, I bet that I could make that guy worse. (And he succeeds! Post-Catastrophe, Fuse/Sans fares much better in handling his issues because he doesn't have this influence in his life anymore (...more or less).)

• Instead of Gaster Blasters, given his boyfriend's penchant for punching things Bunny instead made Gloves.

• The Royal Scientist from a little before the Barrier's erection had a taste for Human meat - especially after it had been left out for a while. Vultures, y'know...? Anyway, when the Monsters were trapped Underground, her first order of business was to try and create a substitute. This ended up with Waterfall having to be renamed The Meat Cavern from the strange fungus she cultivated. The entire Underground is now a red haze of spores that smell sickly-sweet - thankfully the fungus itself can only actually grow in the former Waterfall, but it has begun adapting to grow in New Home. New Home residents are advised to burn it if they find it there. Isn't Science wonderful?

• Bunny's mother was a Boss Monster with several concubines. She wanted him to follow in her foot-steps, hinting that he had taken after her in typing, but some time in his teens she met an unfortunate 'accident.' Bunny was taken in by the current Royal Scientist, who was much more successful in shaping his future. (And who also met an unfortunate 'accident.')

• The Resort is run by BP: Bartholome(o)w Pickles (otherwise known in Classic as Burgerpants). It's a family-friendly joint by day and a sleazy strip joint by night, complete with escorts and the weekly comedy night.

• Alphys is Hot Goth GF but too awkward to land that fish on her lonesome (or with Bunny's "help"). Her goal is to become the Royal Physician, and she hopes her research into DT will land her that position. Her side project features Mettaton, magibiosci, and meaty fungal limbs meticulously grown from altered samples of the Meat Cavern fungus infesting former Waterfall. Yeah, she has read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and she's a bit obsessed. (Meanwhile, Bunny is the one low-key into the animays.)

Friend is encouraging me with ideas as to how to make the AUwufied Alphys more of a little freak than I was planning and honestly. Yeah. Fuck it we ball. Increasing the canon creepiness factor (look, she has cameras everywhere, and you think she only uses them to watch out for humans? Never mind the fact that humans have to do, you know, human things, and she's a scientist) to 100.

Bunny 100% helps her abduct and fuck Undyne at least once in some timeline or another. Well, he doesn't partake of the fucking, of course, but he helps her with everything else just to if she'll actually do it.

She also uses her magibiosci knowledge to make strap-ons out of fungi and other modified materials that provide sensation to the wearer as if they actually had a dick. And dildos, too, of course! WINGDINGS "BUNNY" GASTER

Unhinged yandere that uses his partner’s angry violent outbursts against him to keep him right where he wants the guy. He pretends to be a weak, defenseless, vulnerable nerd - however, he could dust his boyfriend in the blink of an eye if he really wanted to. He won’t really defend himself in dire moments because he doesn’t want to risk it, though.

He will dust anyone who thinks of getting between them, of course (in secret, obviously! that lab tech just met an unfortunate accident! it happens! science is dangerous!).

He gains EXP via pain, to put it bluntly. He uses his boyfriend as an exp farm and will only allow his boyfriend to cause him any harm. He will try to annihilate anyone else who tries.

Through the powers of Science he has broken the level cap. His stats are as follows:

LV 666 HP 666666 AT 66666 DF 66666 – basically the datamined stats for ‘classic’ Gaster. He has created a false stats window for when he is checked. It displays the following, LV 1 HP 10 AT 3 DF 3 –but there are those out there who will inevitably be able to see that it’s false, or to see through it entirely. That’s fine! He doesn’t care! No one in his world can see it, and that’s all that matters.

He has zero qualms about using his status as royal scientist to get what he wants (though he usually uses this in favor of his boyfriend).

Essentially, he is all-around not a nice or sane guy despite giving off that totally inno uwu ball of cheer!! vibe.

Physical Attributes

He is exactly six feet tall when he isn’t wearing heeled shoes or boots and his body shape is lithe with flared hips.

The black spots on his hands are just that–spots. He has them on his feet, too, and in a couple of other places upon his body. If they appear on one side of something, they will appear on its other side as well.

The ‘scars’ on his face are similar - they are all birthmarks.

His face functions similar to Hexadecimal’s (ReBoot) - in order to change expressions there has to be a moment of obfuscation, be it looking away or waving a hand across it or any other sort. The dots of his eyes, however, move freely about.

His pupils are usually normal bog standard white dots unless he’s seriously pissed off and trying to kill someone for realsies. He will throw hands - he can summon as many as he wishes. He mainly uses them to assist in his lab work, but they’re just as easily used to rip some bitch apart.

Lewd Attributes

He has both sets of genitalia and neither are one-hundred percent humanlike.

His cock is a one foot long tentacle-like organ that tapers off to a soft point. As it’s more often than not hidden away in a slit, it’s always well-lubricated. Testes are internal.

His vaginal opening is housed in the same slit, just below the hole housing his phallus. It has markedly less structure to it than a human vagina.

All intimate “flesh” - inasmuch as a monster can have “flesh” - is a deep, dark purple, nearly indistinguishably black.

Bunny is a complete and utter masochist. He will never tell his boyfriend this because he loves the guilty look on the guy’s face after a “session” (also see: after pushing the guy’s buttons ‘til he explodes) or an experiment wherein he basically forces his poor lover to hurt him “for Science.”

However, again, he will only accept such treatment from his boyfriend. Anyone else runs the extreme risk of attempted murder with themselves as the victim.

ALPHYS, PEN NAME 'SHEL'

The magibio limb of the Sci Lab Trio and its medical expert vying for the position of Royal Physician, Alphys – much to her chagrin – is the one that has to patch the two idiots up whenever they get scrappy or perform an experiment in such a way as to eschew every single rule of laboratory safety. Fortunately, she is very, very good at it.

She is, however, not above using her boss for her more experimental procedures and cures. As of yet she has not subjected him to her DT research, but it’s always tempting…

There was a time when she confused the hell out of her boss by signing some of her research papers (those relating to DT and the use of genetically altered fungi as limb replacements or whole bodies for ghost monsters) as Shel after reading some human book she found at the dump (“Frank and Stine” or something of the sort). The confusion has since been cleared up and she continues to do this as a means to differentiate between her research and collabs or things assigned for her to do a write-up on.

She has a side-gig creating sex toys out of the same genetically altered fungus that she uses in her research and experiments. Do you want a strap-on the magically interfaces with your body and lets you feel like you actually have a dick while you plow your lover into oblivion? She’s your gal. Want something made with a specific scent or “cum” (that regenerates over time if you stick it in a bowl and feed it a specialized formula) taste? You can probably find her phone number scribbled somewhere on the wall at the back of the bar. Ovipositor that creates its own harmless – and even edible – eggs? Hit up this pangolin pronto.

COMIC "FUSE" SANS SERIF

The hot-headed machinist of the Sci Lab Trio. Clocking in at exactly four feet even when he isn’t wearing his boots (they add a little less than an inch), this guy pretty much lives up to his pun of a pet name–even though he either has yet to realize it, or has already since vented his frustrations about it.

He has a terrible handle upon his temperament. Resorting to violence isn’t unheard of. He’s the scourge of unruly computational devices everywhere. Fortunately he knows how to fix most of the things his anger issues drive him to break.

For those he can’t fix, there’s always Alphys.

His LV is 8, though he doesn’t like admitting to it. Achieving that level of violence wasn’t on purpose. Some people just have a habit of not knowing when to shut up.

On Friday evenings he has a side-gig at BP’s Resort. His comedy routines are rife with gallows humor and generally dark jokes. With that said, however, he is a Sans at heart – he will not pass up on a terrible pun.

His other side-gig involves tuning up and otherwise improving upon other monster’s rides. What, you think there aren’t alternative means of transportation? The Underground cave systems are spacious enough for motorized bikes and those fancy doohickeys with the claws that scale the cave walls like spiders.

POST-BUNNY After the inevitable occurs, Chara jumps ship and offers Fuse the same deal they offered Bunny. He, of course, accepts, and proceeds to Reset to the point they last saved – except Bunny no longer exists so things are a little different. Rather than coming-to in the lab with his fist through one of the monitor screens he comes-to at one of the snowy region’s outposts. It’s about a year before Frisk falls. In the meantime, Fuse adjusts to sharing his existence with a playful human ghost (who has a lot of horrible stories about all the timelines where Bunny f***ed up) whilst also adjusting to all the changes that he’s unfamiliar with. His brother proves to be a positive influence on his temperament; unlike Bunny, who encouraged and enabled all of his negative traits, Papyrus, alias pending, encouraged and enabled the more positive ones. When Frisk does fall, they’re immediately hostile. However, they have to contend with a monster who isn’t going to put up with their bullshit as soon as they leave the Ruins, who can Reset and learn from past timelines. The problem, of course, is that Chara’s Save Point is about a year before Frisk falls. Every time Fuse Resets they have to wait another year-or-so before Frisk falls again. Fortunately they can also Remember whenever Frisk Resets. It’s still a big jumbled mess, compounded by the fact that each Reset brings a little piece of Bunny back extremely wrongly so even when Fuse sets them back a year, after some time, it offers little reprieve: his ex eventually pieces himself back together enough to “return” as a creepy abomination of his former self. Somehow, some way still left unfigured out, the Barrier is still eventually destroyed; Frisk, Chara, and Bunny all die (again) or get erased (again) in the process. SURFACE ERA Due to absolutely no legitimate businesses feeling up to hiring a guy who is actually qualified for several things but lacks “proper certification,” he ends up working at a chop-shop and rubbing elbows with the criminal underbelly of the city. He quickly becomes very good at carjacking. His brother doesn’t agree with his life choices, of course. On more than one occasion Paps ends up having to bail him out of jail. Fuse always makes sure to pay him back with interest, of course. Occasionally Fuse runs a stand selling rather obscene but also kind'a cute food creations at the behest of his brother who keeps trying to push him towards legal means of making money. Unfortunately he does not have a food handling license and humans are way too easily scandalized. He keeps in touch with Alphys–in this last timeline they were work colleagues. She often drags him out to classy and cute cafes when her fish woman’s too busy to go with her.

'Gaster Gloves' edition #1 but I'll probably be too lazy to revise. They enhance the wielder's natural strength 10* exponentially. While they're also capable of firing beams from their mouths like Blasters, it's a less powerful auxiliary function that can also be used to maneuver -- think rocket jumping from TF2. It requires a surface and comes with the potential of causing damage to the user if the distance between user and surface is lacking.

Ｌｉｖｉｎｇ Ｄｏｌｌ subspecies info

Assumed in the past by Humans to be cursed or haunted objects, and otherwise assumed to be a type of Ghost Monster, "Living Dolls" are not at all undead and can be better likened to snails or molluscs. Their external body is not the true Monster, but a protective house that grows around them. As such, their "skin" is hard to the touch, and their natural DEF tends to be rather high.

Extracting the Monster from its shell is a surefire way to kill it, and it is very much a one-way process in that there is no way to put them back in in a way that will save them. They can survive for a time if the extraction process is not "too" physically traumatic, but becoming dust is inevitable.

Every "shell" is different. Some are more or less humanoid; some have and some lack detachable parts.

In Bunny's case, he lacks a "true" face. Each "face" is a magically created mask, of which he has many in reserve for a variety of expressions, but getting stuck on one that doesn't match the situation at all happens often. A moment of obfuscation is required to change expressions lest the nature of this physical quirk (and exploitable weak spot) become noticeable to anyone with keen observational skills.

It is possible to forcibly remove his "face," but it is highly inadvisable as it is a surefire way to make an enemy out of a mad scientist.

The black spots on his external shell are also weak points. They're places where his internal body isn't covered by the shell, and as such, they're soft to the touch.

I was thinking he might not listen to julien (changeling doctor and maybe ex) bc julien is an annoying bastard but he's also often right abt things. so hmm. he def wouldn't listen to iris actually but as she's the evil mastermind, who would?

LOL. the majority of the characters in this project know next to nothing abt their pasts! half of them don't even have pasts. supposedly. bc they're artificially created sorta superhuman ish ppl? so there's rly just angel the witch who was taught many things by her father (before he became a statue) who was a master craftsman whose skills were coveted even by the fae. she mostly uses his crafty knowhow to make bombs.

In all routes, original game’s Undyne is the first character who is purposefully trying to kill the Player. Players can’t get the best ending without helping her hook up with Alphys and not incurring her wrath by killing any monster. In the worst ending, she’s one of the two antagonists that put up enough of a fight to make any player abort the Genocide Route. ]]

Are they widely known in their world? YES / NO [[ My muse WANTS to be significant to her world. In the original game, Undyne’s only mentioned by others in Snowdin and Waterfall (not counting Alphys in Hotland). She’s described as a “local hero” by Gerson. I get a sense she’s not exactly famous to the people in the entire Underground compared to, say, Mettaton. ]]

How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL [[ Oof. Pretty sure my teen fish annoys the residence of Waterfall for being a loud-mouthed little scamp. The only reason she’s not considered ‘bad’ is because it’s pent-up energy and misguidedness, not flat-out cruelty. In canon, it seems like the people who talk about Undyne do it in either a positive or neutral light. You have Monster Kid, Papyrus, and Onionsan singing her praises. The Royal Guard members respect her. Asgore thought of her well enough to have her lead his military. Uhh, for a neutral instance, I remember an NPC in Snowdin saying she’s “loud, rude, and beats up anybody who gets in her way” (I don’t remember the exact quote). To weigh this more on the side of my muse, I’ll mark this answer as ‘neutral.’ ]]

I gave her a “starting point” on her journey to the determined, dedicated, and excitable warrior fish we all know and love from the game. soooo, about the latest episode of star vs....

Well, let’s take the opportunity and retake the rantswith this, shall we? ^ ^

Remember that of course this have spoilers ahead and it’s my personal opinion . That said, let’s start ^ ^

Yep, yep, I watched the last episodes and well, theywere fine overall but I have to say that, as always, I have mixed opinions hereand there.

Okay, the list starts with out of business. Ehm, whatcan I say about this ep?It was random, it was kind of fun but for me that wasall and it let me with a question: What’s with the show and the “Thisfrequented place is closing for good” thingy? ._.

I’ve heard some viewers commenting about the episodehaving some meaning, that it is more that it seems to be, and theories likethose. If that’s true, well, it’s fine but I don’t want cryptic content, I wantthe plot to advance. Wanna see what’s with Eclipsa or Star and Marco. For alast season this was a total random filler ^ ^’. And hey, not saying filler isalways bad, I love well done filler because it’s like taking a pause from allthe craziness of a plot and it even helps to develop characters while doingrandom unrelated things but this one was, well, very random? 

Janna is Back, good ^ ^… but they don’t even botherto explain how is she there. We have just to accept it because, youknow… she’s Janna. That leads me to my next comment and plz don’t get madJanna fans. I like Janna and I’ve always said she has so much potential sinceS1 and that’s the reason why I don’t like much Janna this season. Pretty muchlike past season, she serves no other purpose than the weird stalker girl whois the comic relief. Done. I mean, jokes are fine but her interactions with theother characters don’t go further than “Yeah, I’m cool”, “Look, acreepy thing, cool”, “I’m going to Make fun of Marco, lol”.

Well, good thing about the ep is that it even gives usa message at the end. I don’t even know what was the point of Marco reactingthat way, but the thing is that they went out of there.

Next one is Kelly’s world. Where can Istart for this one? Well, it was nice to know about Kelly’s background…Finally! For a character that appears in the title sequence and that wasincluded in so many relevant episodes and situations, they took their time.So, her kind solves everything with kicks and punches? Marco, beware! X)

You know, in Lava Lake, when Kelly and Marco spent time together, I never getthe memo about them being “a thing”. For me it was all too quick. Well, itlooks like they noticed it and ‘fixed’ it this season along with moredevelopment of Kelly and her world and family.

Final battle moment was nice but it wasjust me or that felt like S1 Star and Marco fight 2.0? It made me miss thosemore. We don’t have that since a long while now.

And well, now Marco and Kelly areofficially rebound buddies whatever that means but well, now they can cheek kissand hold hands. It’s a bit weird that they keep introducing relationships inthe last season. Maybe it’s me annoying with the same thing but, wasn’t Jackiegood enough for the other girl? As I see, they get rid of her and then got theidea for the new plotline where Marco needed a girlfriend… but it was alreadytoo late, so they chose the girl who was available so that’s why it felt it a bitout of the blue. Oh, well, nothing we can do now and it’s not like they don’tlook cute together anyway :3

Aaand last but not least isCurse of the Blood moon. Nice episode but for me it was a bit weaker than Iexpected it to be. We start retaking Star and Marco situation that has beenkind of ignored past eps: Marco and Star having a crush on each other and soulbounded.

All starts when Marco can’t take it anymore anddecides to speak out his feelings to Star. Thing is Tom’s there too but he doesit anyway. Here we learn that well, duh, Star still have feelings for Marco andalso that… the Blood Moon is… just a curse. Uhm, I didn’t get too bothered withit but it felt it a bit underwhelming. Yeah, I know there are been a lot of discussionsabout them not being in love for real and blah, blah, so, I have a big hunchthat the staff did that to make Star and Marco´s love more natural if they aregoing for Starco but still. I think that I can say that the original idea ofthe blood moon was not this at all but as people started to decontextualize it,they just changed it. Now this has so many implications, starting by the timeMarco and Jackie were kissing. That friggin moon just messed with them, itdoesn’t mean anything more ^ ^’

Oh, also, Janna was there too… eh, again beingthe random character ^ ^’ Also, that invincible character who is just there to messwith everyone. Yes, I know this is a comedic show but I don’t like how herreactions with everyone else are always stale and about the snarky girl whodoesn’t care about anything. For me she barely interacts. Remember when we all thoughtshe will have really good interactions with Tom since she likes demons? Well, I’mnot waiting for that anymore as I see how things are, and I’m not even talkingabout shipping! Yes, I think they are under utilizing a great chara but, oh well.

Well, this is the part where Tom’s great grandpa told themthat they can severe their souls with a stone that is in the underworld, sothey go in that quest.

At the end of the ep, they foreshadowed a battle thatnever happened… I miss the action driven scenes.

Now, it’s me or is the show using too much the “slow mo” jokes scenes? We hadthe sloth in Quest buy sucking the juice, Tom talking about his pa pa pa pa pa,again Tom in the elevator, then Marco talking and talking about that couch plusthe other dude that came drinking juice… I think they must do those more carefully.

Okay, back to the plot. The scene where they arrivedhad so many subtle messages. Tom’s Grandpa was shown regretting using thecrystal for example. From this point, anything can happen.We have a really endearing dancing scene, retaking the bloodmoon dance but thistime Star and Marco being aware of their feelings. When Star admits beingafraid and Marco follows her was heartbreaking indeed. Yeah “What if it wasnever the Blood moon?” ^ ^

Weeell, to close, I would say that yeah, I know thisone is probably one of the rants where I actually ranted the most. It’s just anopinion so be free to have a different one. The episodes were not bad to meand I enjoyed them, especially the last part of the last one but I hope nexteps escalate a bit more in the level of emotions. Let every… or almost everyscene be at the level of the final dance of the las ep :3

Talking about that final dance, I’ve heard several Starco soldiers being sad and saying that this looks like the end of Starco. Uhm, I don’t know, did we watched the same episode? This for me sounds like the complete opposite so, cheer up people :3

he told them to await further instructions, so they set up shop in FT and waited. since they were natural born sheeple, they acclimated to the way of life pretty quickly, and when sid was born she was brought up under the town’s value system, and now im repeating myself

ANYWAY they didn’t hear from the group until sixteen years later when Shmavid was about to be executed and announced that it was time for everyone to Ascend or whatever

so, good followers they were, they made their evening tea and laced it w rat poison and waited for the sweet chariot to swing low

unfortunately they fucked up on sid’s dosage and she survived, though, as mentioned, the poison did fuck with her cortical vision, as well as giving her an exceptionally sensitive stomach

basically she can’t eat too much or anything too rich or spicy bc her stomach linings all fucked, lots of broths and and rice and stuff, everything else comes back up, ya girl got v skinny and has mixed feelings bout that

its essentially a diary that she writes under the name jim sheldon (an homage to the badass author alice sheldon, who wrote under the pseudonym james tiptree jr) about her life and daily experiences in FT with all the names and relevant details and such changed

it started as a stupid joke (and a way for her to disassociate!!! holla) when she was in high school, but then it got a shout-out on some true crime podcast, and then it was in some buzzfeed article, and shit spiraled out from there

neil josten: favorite/most iconic line?

first one that comes to mind I’m not sure is a favorite or iconic line? but it’s a line i think about a lot and it always hurts to read. it’s when they're at the cabin in TKM. 

“He didn’t care how much it hurt so long as he could pull Andrew closer, and he let Andrew take him apart until he couldn’t think anymore.”

that comes at the very end of Chapter 14 and gosh just the paragraph that line comes from and the paragraph before…. the fact neil thinks andrew doesnt care about him the way he cares/feels about andrew is like….. CMON MAN but also i just love the pining angst of it. i like this line especially because the line right before it mentions neil working his “bandaged fingers into Andrew’s hair”. so the “he didnt care how much it hurt” to me always carried a double meaning of 1. the physical pain he felt bc of his injuries but also 2. the pain of unfamiliarity abt his feelings towards andrew and thinking it was unreciprocal AND THAT HED HAVE TO “WARN” ANDREW like the implication.. of neil thinking abt their “relationship” possibly ending bc andrew doesnt feel the same and maybe wouldnt want to be entangled in whatever neil was feeling …… IM LIKE neil knows andrew so well and him being so sure abt this but hes like …. WRONG …. e

nathaniel wesninski: one thing you would change about the books? (plot, characters, etc)

there is very little id change about the books if at all. mainly bc while i know there are upsetting things that happen/the charas do, i think all of those things make the series really interesting to analyze and talk about. i will say a moment i hated was when neil touches andrews scars when andrew makes it clear he doesn't want neil to pry about them. i know neil offers his scars in turn when he's trying to convince andrew to let neil look over kevin but that was controlled. he let andrew touch them and find out about them of his own volition. neil touches something directly related to the trauma andrew had just experienced again when he had 0 permission to do so. while i always get mad at neil for this when i read it i still dont think id change it or get rid of it. im not really sure how id change it anyways and i think andrews relationship with his scars (and himself in general) is probably what allows him to brush it off(?)/never bring this up (plus maybe neil offering his scars was enough for andrew) but i havent thought too hard about this. but ya i remember i got rlly angry w neil the first time i read this scene and i still get mad abt it when i reread.

andrew minyard: if you could be friends with one of the characters, who would you pick?

i mean realistically i wouldnt be friends w jocks ILL BE REAL LOL and i think as much as i love the monsters, theres no way id be friends w them haha uhm but prob dan would be most realistic! maybe even katelyn tbh.. 

kevin day: if you played exy, what would your position be?

oh i think dealer! in sports i liked being able to do both defense and offense bc it made me feel i had more control over the field, like i could always do something if there were any holes

definitely the hotel reunion scene. theres so much to it; it drives me nuts!!!!! but honestly there are probably a lot of really good moments im forgetting. to me the whole series is really enjoyable and every scene has something i could say about it haha

Oggghh this is so hard… esp since it takes place in 2007???? Idk.. iconic artists then i suppose ghfgkjhf BUT i think general vibes i think itd be so cool if paramore (time relevant), ptv (also time relevant), and mitski were on the soundtrack……. Ya…….. 

nicky hemmick: which made you more emotional, neil at evermore or neil in baltimore?

neil in baltimore for sure… neil at evermore i can't remember what i felt the first time i read it (maybe pain LOL bc he was doing it for andrew and i felt like riko wouldnt keep his promise) but in my latest reread i was unimpressed by it (mostly bc i think riko is boring and unimpressive). i think i mightve said evermore in the past though….. maybe... neil in baltimore is like … GOD neils emotions are so strong during all of that its really juicy haha. i think like him being angry bc he was on the cusp of having everything he couldve ever dreamed of; the desperation of wanting to fight back and get away; even just the fear of being in the same room as his father for the first time in so long... all really juicy 

aaron minyard: a character you will defend to your death?

defend…. im not sure is the word i would use and i dont think i really believe in defending any of these charas “to death” bc of how flawed and complex they are; id like to acknowledge when they did wrong. i think id “defend” any of the characters if i saw anyone misinterpreting or misunderstanding them.. theyre all really interesting even if they didnt get too much spotlight. except maybe riko. hes incredibly boring to me. and also nathan ig and any of his crew just bc there is Nothing abt them rlly...

katelyn: which minor character do you wish you could see more of?

uhhhmmmmmmmm hmmmmmm….. idk maybe… jeremy…. gjfjgkdngmdghs just bc him and kevin r so funny.. i was thinking maybe jean too but…… idk a diff kind of kevin relationship lol (yikes) (pain) but really im satisfied w jeans screen time. i think ichirou is interesting but again i think he didn't rlly need more. maybe erik actually. im interested to know what nicky is like with him :0

allison reynolds: favorite headcanon about the foxes?

actually something i recently thought abt was neil and photography. iirc? andrew gives neil a camera in the ec and i also imagine kevin eventually gets another camera too (i loved that detail when we saw his room at the nest) so i thought abt neil and kevin sharing/trading pics they take of (mainly) scenery. i imagine neil takes pics of anything he wants to remember/keep while kevin is more prone to taking pics of subjects related to some nerd history stuff (lol) so thats why they trade scenery pics mainly. but i like this small connection bc i want more to their relationship than their exy obsession and i imagine they have room for more now that riko is gone and i just like this other commonality btwn them. i think maybe they mail the developed pics to each other maybe w small descripts/notes but thats it. and i also imagine it kind of just is something that started happening.. neil and andrew r on a roadtrip and some building reminds neil of kevin so he snaps a pic and eventually sends it to kevin w some note. kevin replies 1. either a text being like that is nothing. > neil: shrugs brushes it off but figures he is welcome to send more when kevin sends his own picture back or 2. kevin simply replies back similarly w his own photo. i dont know.. maybe this goes beyond what their actual relationship would be like but i do like the idea of them just bein like… dude friends u know so i want them to have more than just exy and a traumatizing experience between them. 

as for common headcanons within the fanbase…. i do like the allison + neil haircuts thing.. although im not sure if i imagine it the same as most haha i feel neil would know how to cut his own hair from his life on the run (though theyre not Good or bad just like ok u know like passable generic w/e) i think hed definitely be tense the first couple times but he has experience w allison being close from needing to be covered up w make up after winter break so i think she would be allowed. 

renee walker: favorite non-canonical ship? (renison, jerejean, etc)

uhmm to be honest none really… im way too attached to canon to be able to dismiss any established relationships. i think kevemy (??? is that the name) is rlly amusing but i dont want them together necessarily haha i used to rlly like renison mainly bc im a lesbian and i want “main” chara wlw relationships lol but i recently read something abt how bi allison doesnt rlly sit well w some bc she outs andrew and neil during the hotel scene.. i also agree this is kinda :/ if she was bi Mainly bc i feel a lot of ppl (or at least this is what i gather from renison stuff ive seen) portray allison already being established bi? if this makes sense. i think if renison/allison realizing shes bi is a later development id feel better abt it but usually renison is already established so ya her outing them does bother me…. my first thought was wymack and andrew bc i rlllllyy like their dynamic especially after reading their ec stuff. i loved their first meeting (andrews terrible sandwich??!?fhdhfjd) and when andrew breaks into wymacks apartment BUT i think ppl mention them enough its not underrated. i Actually think renee and andrews dynamic/friendship is rlly underrated/overlooked!!! especially after reading the son nefes ec i love their dynamic a lot…

I wouldn’t say “actively dislike” butthe toxicity of fandom on this website has sucked away most of my passion for Voltron lol. I used to really dig itthe first month or so after getting really into it when S2 aired. I still havean unfinished draft for a 7-parter rarepair fic //ey guess my fav duo ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)// sitting in my folders. don’t think I’llbe touching it any time soon though. im rather burnt out from this fandom, evenif I do still enjoy watching all the new seasons thereafter.

only, she finds she isn’t the first to occupy this place of solitude. the master of the church notices her soon enough, and when vampire recognises the ancient weave of magic that flows within her, he appears; intrigued for something other than a fresh meal.

(basically a deviation from the standard vampire (romance-ish) novels lolol plot bunny hit me pre-Christmas eve dinner/yesterday and sofar im digging it. still planning the ship and fandom though; it might very easily be OC-based)

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons thatyou will die defending?

Not really. I’m a very flexible person when it comes tointerpretable lore and content, especially if it’s the type of HCs that thefandom collectively comes up with. Unless it’s a canon fact, I like to dabble orjust stay away from HCs in general. If I have to come up with some in my fics,then so be it. But most of the time these HCs are either super vague or onlyapply to the context in this particular piece or series of writing. Basically Idon’t mind switching HCs for charas frequently as long as it does notfundamentally change their own character. (HCs for hobbies and loves and habitsand relationships apart from their inner circle, etc. are all fine)

Honestly it just boils down to expectations lol I know myown limits, and I know not to be disappointed when canon updates end updebunking (popular) fandom HCs or my own.

But as much as I admire you as an artist, i'm totally in loved and awed with your incredible imagination, all the universes you built are just trapping and awesome and can't stop re-read and *drink* every drop of them!! Two quick questions: 1) do you have other arts of adult!Yurio apart from de ABO and Inferno AUs? In love with the design!! 2) where do you find the inspiration to write such complex AUs? Movies, books, fanfictions, just your awesome brain? Wow!!!

Oh man, thank you so much!! ;A; I am completely undeserved of your kind praise, but I’m so incredibly happy that you like my admittedly too-complicated and too-specific AUs, because world-building and story-telling is my favorite part of art ;A; To answer your questions:

1) Yurio is actually canon age in Inferno (as are all the characters)! And I’m sorta bouncing across the timeline in Future!verse ABO ^ ^; But adult Yurio is something I’ve been drawing since October (what can I say, drawing kid charas as adults is one of my fav things to do in any fandom lol) so I have quite a bit piled up. You can check out my full list of YOI artworks in my Masterpost, and the majority (but not all) of my posts involving Yurio have him aged up ^ ^;

2) Inspiration to tell stories and world-build comes from everywhere. I am usually thinking about and questioning my AUs and world-building in some way all the time when I’m awake, it’s really awful for concentrating on anything else ^ ^;; I go at it from different angles, from specific plot points and wondering how factors in the world may affect the characters, to more academic curiosity about how this or that would work. This leads to things like cultural/environmental factors, history on a world-scale, and how individual characters are affected by all of this...etc. In addition to that, whenever I get into any fandom, I tend to get in DEEP; it’s why I’m only capable of having one main fandom at a time ^ ^; My time in fandoms such as Tolkien and SW had me digging up tons of supplementary media and going in deep with that in world-building too. And if there’s not as much bg info, like in one-season original animes like YOI? Make it up lol

I’m also certainly inspired by other fanworks too, though I have to say that in terms of fic, there is one story in particular that had an enormous impact on how I’ve created my own stories since and really opened my eyes to the potential of extensive and canon-relevant world-building in AUs. The fic was in Japanese and the author has unfortunately taken it down (luckily I saved it phew), and it was unfinished but is still one of my favorite fics to date. It was in KnB, a massive fantasy AU where all of GoM falls in love with Kuroko, but it had a very complicated non-romantic central plot, tons of foreshadowing, and things like character quirks and lil trivia about the characters were blown up to be of major world building significance and it was just wonderful. So now, whenever I world-build, especially in something like Inferno, I try to make as many things stem from something in canon as possible, even if it’s a very stretched interpretation.

Broduce 101: Episode 8 First Half (Quick Livestream Recap)

Since I missed the first half of the livestream, here’s a quick recap off the raw. I’ll link this to the second half recap too.

Before elimination heartbreaks, they’d served some fanservice to numb the pain with a bit from when BoA came to visit before position evals.

She brought them pizza! The boys had a collective breakdown of food appreciation, and we see a brilliantly photoshopped press picture of BoA holding up pizzas like an angel, like Kim Youjin clearly imagines.

Jung Jung, at the brink of tears: WHY IS IT SO DELICIOUS

They’re just happy to be around her, which is fully understandable. She does a little happy dance as they chant for her, and mingles with the trainees (there’s a nice shot of the Amazing Kiss group talking to her) before leaving them to their food.

Sidenote: the cameras always catch Noh Taehyun in the background, and he’s always unintentionally pulling the ugliest faces possible, unaware he’s in the shot.

Cube Chick Yoo Seonho is by far the happiest, putting away as much pizza as he could to compensate for only getting three meals a day at dorms. He’s obviously at that age where you eat everything in sight, it reminds me of my brother.

Cut to eliminations day and shots of tears. Okay, the warm and fuzzies have disappeared.

Star Empire Takada Kenta looks more like a puppy than ever.

The Yuehua kids shot hearts and Ahn Hyungseob acted like he got hit by one

S.How trainees used their minimal screentime references - Namhyung did his finger to the lip with elevated pinky detail that had impressed Lee Seokhoon, while Dongsu did the plucking from the air bit from the Amazing Kiss stage.

MMO trainees, extra as always, integrated Auntie Jisung’s clapping move with Twice’s Signal. 

Baby maknae Lee Woojin did his meme face and finger heart from the Be Mine stage. A worldwide cutie.

C2K Kim Seonglee did finger hearts with the Very Very Very head bobbing

YGK+ Kwon Hyunbin tried a headstand before just rolling over like a cat in a blanket

Real Performers Ardor and Able Noh Taehyun and Ha Sungwoon did a finger point choreo before moonwalking off the stage in sync

RBW puppies referenced fallen trainee Dongmyung by doing his warm up flapping dance and hearts. 

Protect Them.

Tension building and then cut to concept evaluation song distributions.

They keep playing up the fact that Jihoon dropped ranks...are they egging the fangirls to have a flatout fight?

This way of arranging missions, with distributing trainees into teams and then shuffling after half of them leave is stupid and could be avoided if they split up the mission footage better. The show could fully have filler episodes between missions at this level of popularity so the vote timing and mission preparation could be allocated efficiently. 

Imagine working at a song and then having to start over a few days later. It’s ridiculous.

Songs are introduced by their producers. The viewers have been voting to match the songs to their favourite trainees for this mission. 

I’d said earlier that the idea was just going to incite some kind of fuckery, with fans not used to this amount of legitimate power. Sure enough, there was cheating involved so Kang Daniel, Lee Kiwon and Kim Dongbin were banned from their leaked song preferences.

Honestly, the cat emoji morse code was great. It’s one of my top controversies this season. 

First up is my personal favourite of the song concepts, I Know You Know, produced by heavyweight producer Joombas (who is famously responsible for Exo’s Growl, SHINee’s Dream Girl and also apparently worked with HOTSHOT). I’m all about the funky R&Bish vibe: not the kind of song that tops charts, but probably stays there a while. Watch this song be ignored though lol

Second is Oh Little Girl, a name even the producer draws quote marks around. This is the song for the hip-hop concept, and has a jazzy easy listening feel.

Next is Showtime, coming from a trio of newer or less popular producers. This seems catchy, but it sounds very familiar - not a song I’d remember. The choreo looks fun though, and they reference Dongmyung’s warm up! The trainees love it, cracking up as they mimic the move.

Fourth are another famous producer group, Devine Channel, who I believe do a lot of SM’s songs. They’ve also done a lot of very trendy title songs, including BTS’ Fire and VIXX’s The Closer. I think the English title for this song is Open? Correct me if I’m wrong. It sounds great, oddly like something I might have heard from Nu’est. I’m looking forward to this too, the choreo looks great.

Fifth song is from the producers that get the most hype, Hyuna’s new charity project from Cube, Triple H’s Never. Auntie Jisung decides he wants the song because Hyuna is involved, which, honestly, same. The EDM structure also feels overdone but I have a sneaking suspicion this is going to be the song that gets maximum hype since there’s no ballad.

Trainees get allocated their songs in envelopes and have to go to wait in separate practice spaces for the rest of their team.

Jaehwan doesn’t want to be in same team as Hyunbin, which I understand, considering that he’s had to carry him twice already. Like the other trainees, he wants to work with GodJonghyun. 

Pretty boys Bae Jinyoung, Park Jihoon and Ahn Hyungseob get sorted together. Maybe their fans have been working in sync. They also get excited puppy Gunhee, which means their vocals will be taken care of. 

Once the trainees all gather, their songs are revealed. Byun Hyunmin decides to rip the sticker for his room and accidentally pulls off the whole thing.

Noh Taehyun: Everyone, we’re not singing.

Hyunmin retries.

All the trainees: cAREFULLY 

The group gets Showtime, which was Samuel’s pick. He’s ecstatic.

Minhyun’s room has their sticker peel by Emperor Hwang to reveal Never, which pleases most of them. 

Park Jihoon’s room has a breakdown before Dongbin peels the sticker to show Oh Little Girl, a song I can see Sewoon do well in. The Yuehua trainees are all in this team too.

Moonbok has a braid in his lovely hair this segment, it looks fire emoji.

Hyunbin’s room has I Know You Know. Taedong, who has a lower range than the song needs, is nervous.

Baekho’s group gets Open, which most of the trainees are excited about. Seunglee in particular is relieved, since it was one of his picks. 

We go into centre struggles for the killing part.

Oh Little Girl has Jihoon battling Euiwoong and Minki. They all demonstrate, and vote Jihoon and Minki as their preferred centres. 

Euiwoong is getting worried. He’s one of the only initial popular trainees that seems to be dropping down ranks every week. Kahi gives him a much needed confidence boost at dance check in, and Don Mills praises him at vocal check in too.

Product placement break.

Open team wants a dance focus trainee as leader because of the high level choreo and elect Daniel, who now probably understands what he needs to do to lead his group after faltering last mission. 

But the team has so many people that they split into two halves while leaning choreo and one team falls behind since Daniel doesn’t split his attention between the two initially

Kahi calls them out on the distinction, with one group lagging while the first one does great. The second half, which has Park Sungwoo, who we know needs a lot of focused help, starts to catch up after the whole team gets scolded.

There are so many trainees in this team that won’t survive eliminations, oh god. 

Kim Seunglee, you deserve better.

Showtime group has a lot of strong singers. Woodam wants to be main vocal, and Yoo Hwiseung needs that vocal hype boost since his rank is risky too. 

Auntie Jisung: I want to try to do it too.

They start talking about the need for facial expressions and singing, Samuel wants to lowkey be centre. They need to have impact to bring the concept across, they decide.

Auntie Jisung: I still want to try though!

They ask the trainees to sing and do some face expression to pick centre and main vocal. Jisung and Samuel share centre while Woodam and Hwiseung share main vocal.

Coach Shin Yumi likes Hwiseung’s control over the notes better. He’s a lot more stable than Woodam, maybe because his natural tone is stronger?

Yoo Hwiseung gets some screentime for the first time.

Far out, Mnet. You really annoy me.

Never team has Ha Sungwoon being worried about being in a team with high ranking trainees, most of who want to be centre. 

They all battle with facial expressions but the trainees vote for Guanlin and Minhyun as centre.

At dance check in with Dabbing Ajusshi Kwon Jaesung, however, Sungwoon is the first one to volunteer to dance. 

He gets some well deserved praise for it, which honestly, the kid needs. Being in a group of trainees that are all popular is awful enough, but he’s a true all rounder. Without enough screentime or helpful editing, he’s been fading despite being good looking and a consistent performer. 

More product placement.

I Know You Know team has the underdog feel straight up, with the lower ranking trainees. I called the song as not being the kind to be popular.

Appealing time for the centre spot. RBW Hwanwoong stands out. Ah, my heart. Donghan and Hwanwoong get centre.

Dance check in with Kahi has her appreciating their hard work. Hyunbin’s dancing seems to have improved, I guess being cyber bullied has that effect on you. She also thinks Hwanwoong is a good centre choice, which is some well deserved praise. 

Tears and mournful instrumentals are abound as the low ranking trainees recount their experience before for upcoming eliminations. We get flashbacks for some of them, which should prepare you for what’s coming.

my favorite scene is probably the one with calen and folen. i think they add a lot of dynamic to camellia since before she was just grumpy tea witch. now shes grumpy tea witch with a past. plus i really loved that appearance change because just so many questions. tea party host plot twist: i actually hate tea. long live the coffee witch.

Here for the moment. Yeah, I liked the tea witch/coffee witch thing where they each made the offer and declined, I can totally relate to that. Coffee is just a no for me.

Of the episodes, which episode did you find to be the strongest in terms of how it delivered educational, tea related information? Alternatively, of the episodes, which one did you find most entertaining on how it tackled a certain topic of tea and tea brewing? What other tea brews or information are you hoping to see the comic tackle? Lastly, which of the brews presented so far is your favorite?

Funny thing about tea for me. I don't like hot tea. I definitely don't like iced tea. I'll tend to drop an ice cube into tea shortly before drinking it (it melts, admittedly diluting) to split the difference.

Why is Camellia so ardent about not going back to work with Calen? Also, why do you think Camellia changed her appearance to pay a visit to the two? What do you make of the scars depicted on Camellia’s hands? Besides Camellia, there is also her new assistant Vander. Do you believe that Vander can be trusted, or do you believe Calen will find out something shady about him? How will his continued presence affect Camellia and/or himself?

QUESTION 4. The story has its fair share of shenanigans while having a lot of future potential. Insofar, which character do you enjoy seeing the most in the comic and why? Are there any potential future scenarios you’re hoping to see them in? Are there any other sort of witch types you’re hoping exist in the world that could play a role in the comic? What about creatures? In the long term, do you think Camellia will keep her current tea brewing style of life, or will something come along and change it in contrast to all the shenanigans? Finally, in general, what other scenarios do you see popping up for the story given any story fact?

Vander also at first wasn't going to be a character actually. It was only after I realized I needed an every day man type character for reasons to exposition at did I create him.

i just read tobys tweet explaining things in deltarune, and here are my thoughts.

spoilers for deltarune

1) deltarune isnt undertale, and it isnt related in anyway (ie. if you did a pacifist route and had a good ending in UNDERTALE, those characters in that universe are still happy.) its neither a prequel, sequel, or reset as many have theorized. its its own thing. it just... is. i like that.

i like the idea that this is just a different scenario/set up for the characters seen thru a new lens, while still staying somewhat true to their character (fishy things, such as alphys hating mew mew 1, seemed to point to a reset of some sort, but shes still the same in that shes nervous a lot and can go into long tangents about her interests.)

this idea makes it easier to make deltarune a separate thing, as toby said later in the tweet that he cant bring you the same feeling you had in undertale, but he will instead give you a new game that will give you new feelings.

but since the story isnt released, i have no idea how far or deep it goes- it seems that chara (now kris) is mostly still chara (still kris) and im happy the story has him as the main character. i think its an interesting contrast from frisk and undertale, much more suspenseful and takes on darker themes. (no im not going to discuss gaster lol)

2. toby seemed to have a lot of reprehension of the games battle system. i thought it was great and fun, the bullet dodging making it active more so than most rpgs, and the idea that blocking creates more TP in battle rather than TP being a distinguishable thing that you deplete and often cant restore until later, this was also a great idea. also the left over TP becomes more money. you cant lose in this scenario.

doing pacifist route (though this phrase itself means just that: not hurting enemies. nothing changes.) i found this to be an extremely fun and useful mechanic when used correctly. for ex (SPOILER) when fighting jevil, where i suck at dodging his bullet patterns cause i havent really figured them out yet, having kris ACT while suzy and ralsei blocked made it so that when they got hurt, i could have ralsei heal them, and could continue playing. it made it very tense too, having to manage and know where your TP percentage is at all times.

i believe that while the battle system could be improved on, (perhaps more interactive ACTS like rearranging block man, or blowing on bunnies. more gear [it was a demo so there will obviously be more], idk. im not a dev im an art major.), it isnt inherently flawed. it is just that: a demo. a thought or concept that can be flushed out more.

i also loved the style of fight sequences, the flashiness of attacking and ACTing, and seeing characters interact with eachother in battle. it really was something i loved and will remember!

3) the in game bullet dodging, outside of battle sequences. this made walking around the world be more than walking around the world. i thought it did a great job at solidifying the concept of the soul/heart, and it was fun maneuvering around them. i love dodging bullets lol. i can see this becoming a big part of the game.

4) Puzzles. toby admitted that some things were lack luster compared to others, but i wouldnt necessarily say that grandeur = to value of its function. puzzles and their concepts repeated themselves, such as the symbol puzzle and button puzzles. the one exception being the eye puzzle. i thing that while these were simple, i had fun going through them. sure, they were easy (for the most part, getting the key was a pain in the ass 4 me cause i kept fucking up the door order). all in all, the puzzles were fun, but not an focal point in the game (Demo, btw.) im sure that when toby does bring puzzles into the next chapters, they'll play a bigger role. that brings me to

3.5) i added this after cause i remembered it but didnt want to change all the numbers cause lazy .... so.

NO multiple endings

this makes sense as it would take a long time to create multiple endings given everything else thats on the plate this time. im not disappointed or sad, i simply understand. it IS a different game, and i think it will be important to the lore (your choices dont matter).

also, like toby said, most games are already like this. i welcome it.

4) the development for the next chapters.

Toby making a game as great as undertale (i never played it but watched a walkthrough, an understood the plot as most of my friends loved it) by himself for the most part, with help from Temmie (of course!) and as well as help with the art, its an incredible feat. no wonder the whole theme of the game was determination. that being said, deltarune is an incredibly ambitious game, even more so than undertale, and it seems that hes had it in the vaults of his mind for a long time. maybe even before undertale.

it makes sense that a game of this scope will take much longer to create. with a much more complicated party system, battle system, increase in pixel art quality, more dynamic fight sequences and UI as well as like, a thousand things im forgetting, its a fucking miracle he had the determination to create and finish that. (if only i could start having that much motivation sadface).

i look forward to what he has in store for us, and i will be patient until then, considering these things take time, and toby is a human, depsite what people believe. many do have high expectations of him, but i think so long as he remembers this is about him giving his ideas and stories to the world, he'll be okay (hopefully).

5) the team

im not sure how, when, what, or uh whomst it will be obviously. point 7 was really funny. i think that toby wont have a hard time finding people wanting to work with him and on the team, but i think it will be difficult to find people who are motivated and determined enough.

6) last thoughts

i think that the world with darkeners being seperate from kris' real world is a very interesting and cool thing! it makes you wonder if its real or not. i think this will make future chapters SUPER interesting, seeing if actions in the darkener world change things in the lightener world? how it will play into the plot in the lightener world will be interesting.

also, asriel is alive in this game. hes in university, so hes an adult. im scared that something bad will happen to him and kris in the future. but also, theyre both alive! yay! i wonder if we'll see of hear about frisk again, either way i love it.

and last, the ending. what can i say? its like, really vague. i think the contrast between asriel and kris will be a big conflict in this game- asriels side of the room being filled with trophies and personal items, while kris' is empty excluding the mysterious birdcage. people in town bringing up and talking about their wonderful memories with asriel in the past, but im not sure if this is relevant or just toby letting us get more of an idea of his role. all in all he seems very loved and popular, while kris is... something else. i dont know what yet. i hope he gets a happy ending though.

and he seems like he was possessed, or not wholly himself at the end. his snappy walk and dragging himself was very unlike what we've seen throughout the game. i dont know what this means, if its more like his true nature or something else. did he know about his soul/heart before the events of the game? does he do this often, as at the beginning the desription of the birdcage and wagon depicted itcas heavily used? why the hell does he have a whole ass knife? he gonna kill someone?

also i think kris is in early highschool/late middleschool as his classmates seem to be working around town. i dont know what the work age there is tho. el oh el

all in all, i really wish him luck, i was SUPER, ULTRA satisfied with deltarune chap 1, and i cant wait to see what happens in the future. also, i loved the music
