Emily’s thoughts on Beth and Daryl’s changing relationship after Still (March 2014) “I do feel like now, after [Still], that Beth and Daryl know each other on a much deeper level, in an intimate way. I don’t think they feel alone the way they did before.”
Emily agrees with an interviewer at WSC on romantic feelings (March 2014): “So in this last episode, you were asking Daryl ‘how do you know there’s— you still think there’s good people out there? Why?’ And then you had a realization. Was it that he knew because of Beth? Do you know what I’m saying?” Emily Kinney: Yeah, I think she realized how much he cares about her.
“I don’t know, my theory is— I definitely think Beth was having a ro— felt romantically inclined towards Daryl. That’s the way it came across to me, at least.” Emily Kinney: Yeah, I think there’s realizing that there’s something else there.”
Greg Nicotero’s thoughts on Alone at SDCC 2014: When they pitched Season 4, they were talking about when the prison goes down and having Daryl and Beth be bunkered together. And it’s interesting because I get to see all the cuts and I see all the edits from the director’s cuts onward. And I loved the scene in the kitchen when they’re talking, and I got the sense that Daryl was starting to kind of fall in love with Beth a little.”
Emily’s thoughts on Bethyl for Insider October 2014: “Last year, I definitely felt like there was a really special connection between Daryl and Beth that happened. My take on it was that there was a very deep growing connection that could become something more romantic or could become just … you know that was my personal understanding of it. I do feel like Beth has opened up to Daryl in a way that she hasn’t with other people and I do feel like Beth has never been really in love even though you’ve seen her with the two different boyfriends. I don’t think she’s ever been like, ‘grownup in love’ in the way that you feel like someone actually understands you and in sort of that special intimate way. And I do feel like she’s been closer to that with Daryl then with anyone else.”
Emily wrote a song from Beth’s POV from alone called Last Chance, and it’s a love song with sexual overtones. lyrics
You've got bad dreams from the broken wedding rings That you keep under your pillow while you sleep And there's open spaces, blank faces When you search for answers on the street
[Pre-Chorus] Oh, there's no one left to call Nothin' much to say Pretty sure the world is gonna end today Drink up one last whiskey, head to the dance Baby, this is our last chance Baby, this is our last chance
[Chorus] So gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha got tonight Packin' cigarettes Baby, I'm your light Gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha can I'm the last pretty girl You're the last decent man
[Verse 2] I've got broken heart pieces swimming in my bed Broken conversations floatin' in my head A let down little mermaid trying to find air at the top Pretty sure this spinning world's about to stop So I cover up in glitter, head to the dance Baby, this is our last chance Baby, this is our last chance See upcoming pop shows Get tickets for your favorite artists
[Chorus] So gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha got tonight Packin' cigarettes Baby, I'm your light Gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha can I'm the last pretty girl You're the last decent man
[Verse 3] When the world is on fire But your heart is on ice It's hard to know what's wrong and what's right But if you wanna feel your blood burn, get to the floor Scream to God, "I want it more!" More hurricanes, snow storm, rain in my face More midnights drunk and dizzy dancin' at your place A life of fame and fortune and the star of some show Now it's almost over, almost time to go, oh, go, oh, go oh, go, oh oh, oh…
[Chorus] So gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha got tonight Packin' cigarettes Baby, I'm your light Gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha, gimme whatcha can Baby, this is our last chance Baby, this is our last chance

30 Days Without An Accident 4x1, Daryl's "It's a damn romance novel" comment. Sure, can be played off like teasing, a little bit of jealousy. But the point is, he notices Beth's relationship with Zach. And for some reason cares enough to comment on it.
30 Days Without An Accident 4x1, the hug. Not just that there was a hug, but that they didn't end the scene with the hug. They ended the scene with Beth's sleeve falling off her shoulder and show her putting it back on, and end with their eye contact after that. If this was meant to be brother/sister, or platonic, vibes then why emphasize an erogenous zone like that? That would be creepy. The writers intended it to be romantic.
I don't find Still 4x12 to be a romantic episode, necessarily. I think that one is just building on their intimacy as friends. I do appreciate their openness with each other on the porch and there are elements of that conversation that I view as romantic (namely, Daryl's expression and nervous fiddling with the knife). However, I can understand how people view their pairing as platonic if they only base that view on this episode.
Alone 4x13 is where they really start hammering in the romance. For starters, Daryl's reaction to Beth stepping in the bear trap. Yes, of course you can say he just didn't want her to get eaten by the walker, but compare how he gets down to the ground with her, rubs her foot, and gives her his body for support - even giving her a piggyback ride - to Carol's foot cramp in 10x18 Find Me. He first eliminates the threat, then he checks on her and shows genuine concern for her injury, and offers her physical support. Daryl loves Carol, she's his best friend, but in Find Me, he just teases her and tells her that she shouldn't have come along.
Alone 4x13 when Beth stops to look at the "Beloved Father" grave, Daryl compassionately picks some flowers and lays it on top of the grave for her, to commemorate Herschel. That is not inherently romantic. He also compassionately gave Carol a Cherokee Rose when she lost Sophia. I just think it is sweet. In the same scene, Beth and Daryl hold hands (admittedly, a little awkwardly, but that is primarily on Daryl) and Beth puts her head on his shoulder.
Alone 4x13 when they are looking at the bodies that are made to look very human (although they're walkers) and Beth argues back at Daryl's joke about dolls with why it's beautiful. She looks at him and asks "Don't you think that's beautiful" and all he does is pensively stare back at her. It's a romantic cliche and the pause with the intense eye contact seems to imply that his thoughts are that she is beautiful. At the very least, he sees something in the way she thinks about the world that is beautiful.
Alone 4x13 Daryl breaks his silence thinking about telling Beth that she's beautiful with the shiptease after action patch-up tv trope with "C'mon, let's get you patched up." She sits on the table and he wraps her foot up from the bear trap.
Alone 4x13 how he watches her sing in the doorway, and then how he pushes her buttons about the music "Well there ain't no jukebox, so... keep singing"
Alone 4x13 the bridal carry romance trope into the kitchen for the cute little redneck dinner Daryl set up for Beth. Plus his excitement to show it to her, hence the "I'm going as fast as I can" before he picks up her heard outside the doorway.
Alone 4x13 dinner conversation about what changed Daryl's mind about there still being good people. Beth changed his mind. If it wasn't romantic, why couldn't he just say "you're gave me hope / you showed me there are still good people." But the teasing, the repeated asking, the smile and eye contact, the nervousness from Daryl and then the self-realizing "oh" that is more like a romantic confession than anything else. Plus the fact that the confession is interrupted, another TV trope in romance. Plus the fact that in Alone, Daryl & Beth are foils to Sasha & Bob - who we know for a fact were canon. Difference is Sasha & Bob are reunited by the end of Alone, while Beth & Daryl are separated.
Alone 4x13 he chased after her for hours, from night to day.
Alone 4x13 he was ready to kill Len for disrespecting her "Some bitch must have got you all worked up" "You lost yourself a piece of tail" "I bet it was a little one too, they don't last long out here." If Joe didn't stop the knife, I bet Daryl would have ended Len a whole lot sooner.
In 5x8 Coda, when she starts rushing back to Dawn, to say goodbye to Noah, Daryl tries to stop her.
Coda 5x8 he cries over her body
Coda 5x8 he bridal carries her body out of the hospital, sobbing
Them 5x10 he shuts down with the group. Carol knows there is more to his sadness and she is trying to understand it. She assumes Beth saved him (she did, in a way). Rick knows that Daryl lost something deeper than a friend, hence "I know you lost something back there"

Emily filmed throughout all of season 5, and almost none of that footage was shown onscreen or put on the DVDs as deleted scenes. In season 5, she was in 5x04, 5x07 (barely), 5x08, and 5x09 (minimally). Those episodes were filmed in early June, mid to late July, early August, and late August. She should have been finished with filming on August 29th, as that is when the bedroom scenes with TY were finished. Yet she was confirmed to have been filming from September into October.
And it isn't a few scenes. Depending how much was exactly filmed, that could be at least an episode or two worth of footage. As in bottle episodes that would explain Beth’s backstory. Here is a breakdown of the known missing spoilers:
the Rottweiler and white houses scenes (late May 2014)
included heavy security for “critical scenes”i
Included several actors, the show’s costume designer, and two major producers on the show
There were two white houses used during filming, located side by side. One was smaller, with visible burn marks on the door, while the other was a larger, plantation-style home. Both had “Do Not Mow” signs posted out front—an indicator they were active filming locations. At this point, The Spoiling Dead was highly active and well-informed, often tracking filming schedules and locations in real time. They filmed at the two properties throughout the day and that evening a white van was seen pulling right up to the steps, and Emily dressed as Beth was seen being rushed inside with two security guards. Lennie James dressed as season 5 Morgan was also photographed on set that night.
The van came to the house a second time, and afterwards Emily conveniently tweeted that she was at the movies, even though at least 15 different people saw her on set.
Now, the Rottweiler. The owner tweeted that his dog—a professionally trained acting dog—was scheduled to film soon. A few days later, he confirmed that the dog had filmed two scenes.
This is referring to the filming that took place from May 23rd to May 24th. The Walking Dead Women, a TWD Facebook page, posted a picture on May 14th, and it first surfaced via Spoil the Dead on May 12th. The walking dead rarely features animals, especially dogs the dogs used in the episodes Them, were reportedly pets of the cast, not trained animal actors. So when a Rottweiler was brought in for filming, it signaled a scene that was more intense, complex, and expensive something that required extra time and budget.
It indicates that more was being filmed at the white houses than we saw; Emily could have filmed a few scenes throughout the week. The Rottweiler 100% filmed two scenes, that we haven't seen
“More News… This House been rented again as a filming location... North Hill Street 441, Griffin/Georgia. As rumors have it… Beth was seen around that location… also the house next to it… get used often for inside filming.” In March, Google Maps updated its view of Griffin Street, providing more detail on both properties.
Emily might have spent the first few weeks of filming working at the white houses/in studio of the white houses. That would be at least an episode or two of footage then unaccounted for, and that also does not include the rest of the missing unseen spoilers related to Emily/Beth. No TV show would cut more than a day’s worth of work and not even put it on the DVD. the next instance of cut footage was another filming location not far away where the spoiling dead said they had spotted Beth for a second.
Traffic was blocked off, and security was noted as being heavy. People who came to the site reported that Steven, Lauren, and Alanna were all filming there, and all three actors were photographed at the site. Alanna was even photographed in costume as Tara from 5x01/5x02 and mentioned in a tweet still being covered in dirt and sweat. More than one walker was also seen done up.
Steven, Lauren, and Alanna all came out to take pictures with fans, as well as the producers Denise Huth and Gale Anne Hurd. It takes about eight days to film one episode, so why would the show just scrap an entire day’s worth of work?
Especially since it contained very important scenes that were being filmed out of order, hence the costume designer (for costume continuity) and producers being on set.
Those filming instances are suspect alone. Yet we also have more throughout the whole season, that were consistent. Emily was shuttled in a white van through extreme measures and security was heavy.
Through The Walking Dead Women, I also discovered two more pictures of the Pritchard property tara was spotted at:
The second picture depicts a gate says ‘Beware of the Dog’ sign.
and the weirdness continues
Chase Vasser is a former college football player who became an actor a few years ago. According to his LinkedIn, he is still based in Georgia. In the month leading up to filming at the white houses, he tweeted about being on the show. When word spread, he later recanted and clarified that he was working on another show. Then, on May 17th, a week before filming, Gale Anne Hurd tweeted, “@NeverStop_CV: I will not be on the Walking Dead! #sorryfans" He was never cast on the show.
Beth in the backseat of a Grady car (early July 2014; 5x06 filming)
Beth driving a car out of the Grady hospital/Bethfoot 1 (mid July 2014)
included gunfire and heavy security
Explosions at Grady (late July 2014)
800 walkers for the MSF and the white church (early August 2014) i will go deeper into this when i breakdown the 17 days theory article here x
Don’t f**k with me zombies (August 28th, 2014; tweet implied she would be fighting with zombies. The picture she posted also appeared to have her in make-up with faded scars) Twice Emily referred to her stitches as scars: the Inside 5x04 video and on Slabtown’s TTD. By the time Slabtown’s TTD aired, Emily had known for months about Beth’s “death” as she filmed her death scene early in August and after the filming break, filmed her scenes for 5x09 on August 28th. bethgreenewarriorprincess and I have been discussing the unseen season 5 filming spoilers for a while now. Had she filmed her scenes ahead of time, she would have filmed with scars and not just stitches, which explains why Emily likely referred to them as such instead of cuts. In one of my filming spoilers post, fabledfangirl noticed that Emily appeared to have a faded version of her cheek scar Emily posted this picture on August 28th, 2014 (X) and captioned it, “Don’t f*ck with me today. #diezombies,” and many fans at the time believed it meant she was filming. While she did film the bedroom scenes at the that time, it would not explain the #diezombies because she was not involved with any. It suggests that she filmed more scenes than we saw that day.
if you flip the picture, the mark on her face is a perfect match for Beth’s stitching placement The tilt of the hat would also hide her two forehead scars, as the gash above her eyebrow is bigger and would need more coverage. The presence of scars also help to explain why no almost pictures of Emily surfaced during season 5 filming, especially at the easily-accesible make-up trailer. Faded scars proved scenes were filmed of her surviving.
Bethfoot 1 and 2 (November 17th/18th 2014) picture of Emily in costume taken outside Grady. The picture was taken early in the morning on July 15th, 2014, and it showed Beth in clothes that weren’t her hospital scrubs. (It’s debated whether her shirt is plaid or her season 4 sweater) @sparks-of-greene a long time ago noticed the audio cart that @circled in red, pointing out that such equipment wouldn’t be moved around much, indicating that Emily was outside filming. Now, spoilers prove that Coda was filmed in early August, and that the devastating courtyard scene was filmed on August 6th. That was the only time we saw Emily outside in Beth’s season 4 costume. Whatever this picture is, it’s for something else, as in more filming.
I went back through the comments on the Facebook post with the Bethfoot picture. The woman who took the picture noticed that security was very heavy at the time:
now were at the famous sighting of Beth being spotted in Alexandria or Bethfoot 2 Emily had no reason to be at Alexandria dressed as Beth, WHEN SHE NEVER MADE IT TO THE SAFE ZONE. It was also during filming for the season finale. Emily would have been finished filming for months by that point.
instagram post Emily made and the photo of her on set we had pictures of her in normans trailer, we also had one after she was done filing with a white van outside second picture has been lost. if anyone has it please send it to me
To assume that Emily isn’t filming because she hasn’t been seen on set is a poor assumption to make. The show can hide people if it wants to, such as the actors present in Tyreese’s hallucination never being known, or Lennie James in season 5. Emily could easily have filmed in a studio or remote woodsy location during seasons 5 and 6. Season 7 filming will always be under heavy security until after the premiere, because of the finale death being a secret. There are reports already of people being arrested and filming in the studio. It would not be that difficult to sneak Emily in as well, since she’d be hidden anyway.

17 DAYS THEORY
================

Here’s what we know: Beth was shot in the head. Daryl carried her outside. The last time we see her (in non-hallucination form) is in that final iconic shot of Coda.
Then in 5x09, it’s a good while later and they’re in Virginia.
The first important thing to note is that we don’t know what happened right after Coda. In 5x10 it’s established that roughly three weeks have passed since the group left Atlanta, and we know almost nothing about what happened during those three weeks. We don’t know what led to them leaving Atlanta.
We also never actually see a funeral for Beth - which is significant, because on this show pretty much everyone who’s at all a major character gets some kind of funeral/farewell. More often than not you see a cross. It’s not something that holds true in every case, there are exceptions, but those exceptions are highly situational (see: Hershel, who still got a memorial when Daryl placed the flowers on the tombstone), and in those cases we still get at least some sense of what happened to their bodies. There is - because of those things - a sense of narrative closure. It’s how this show says goodbye to people who matter. Because this show believes that goodbyes themselves matter.
We never actually saw Beth’s funeral. We have no idea what form it took, where it was, whether or not she got a cross, how people said their farewells - we got none of that. Plenty of people insist that it doesn’t matter, and there’s certainly a possibility that they’re right, just like there’s certainly a possibility that TD is wrong, but I look at the writing on the show as a whole, and what I see is that funerals are a major thematic element and have been from the very beginning, where Glenn insists that they bury their dead instead of burning them.
We saw a huge amount of Tyreese’s funeral. We never saw one second of Beth’s. Not one second. Plus if you look closely there is only one grave so it wasn't a joint funeral like some believe.
This is all to say that the lack of any on-screen funeral, while not conclusive of anything, is very strange. It is not at all in line with how this show handles death, especially not death as narratively important as Beth’s was.
The fact that we saw no funeral at all is enough - in my mind, in conjunction with a number of other things - to cast doubt on whether she had one. Because in writing like this, when something that’s almost always shown is not shown, that often (not always) indicates that it’s being purposefully obscured. Which… Why? Why would they do that?
Okay, so if she never got a funeral, what happened to her body?
This is where we grab a lot of hinty bits from a lot of places and piece them all together into something that’s admittedly messy but to my mind holds up well enough given what we have to work with. I certainly think it’s defensible as a plausibility, though obviously it’s nothing anyone can prove and I don’t think anyone would claim to be able to do so.
Beth was taken from the funeral home (probably) in the trunk of a car. Prior to that - in “Still”, the episode that really kicks off her and Daryl’s relationship (whatever you believe the nature of that relationship to be) - she shelters with Daryl in the trunk of a car in a very tense and meaningful cold open. So we already have something of an established Car Thing with this girl.
In the final shot of Coda, there’s a black car with a white cross on it in the lower left foreground - not the center of the shot, but quite noticeable, the only vehicle nearby aside from the fire engine, and we’ve been told repeatedly that nothing onscreen in this show is wasted (likely hyperbole but I’ll assume that it’s at least mostly true).
In 5x09, we see two strange and potentially very suggestive things. We see multiple shots of a (probably) female walker in a car - a walker whose face is obscured and who appears to possibly have a ponytail or something along those lines. Tyreese sees this and appears moved by it - even disturbed. The fact that we’re shown it more than once tells me that we’re meant to notice it; it’s not there for no reason. Secondly, we’re shown multiple shaky, blurry shots of the group sprinting for the vehicles we see them in later, waving guns around; they’re clearly in a state of distress, running from something. Which indicates that however they left Atlanta, it’s entirely possible that they had to leave very quickly.
Then in 5x10, the group comes upon the cars abandoned in the middle of the road.
Two things happen here that are big for me. First, there’s the (blond, blue-eyed) walker that Maggie finds locked in the trunk of the car. This appears to disturb her deeply - far more than I would expect even for something so awful, because remember that these are hardened people who have been through some real shit, and I think it’s strange that she would have such a strong reaction if there wasn’t something else going on. Plus her discomfort with the car doesn’t begin with her seeing the walker. She doesn’t even want to open the trunk at all. She’s reluctant. Then she sees the walker and she almost falls apart. Glenn has to take care of it for her.
Then there’s Daryl.
Watch Daryl when they first see the cars. There’s a tight close-up of his face, which you don’t have unless a character is feeling something significant. And in his way, Daryl appears to be just as disturbed as Maggie - if not more. He immediately announces that he’ll head off into the woods and circle round, and he doesn’t offer a reason. He just goes. At a point at which there’s every possibility that they might be about to find some life-saving supplies.
No one in the group finds either of these reactions odd. Glenn seems to implicitly understand what’s going on. He never asks Maggie what’s wrong. He just does what he has to do. Carol offers to go with Daryl; earlier in the episode he leaves the group and she says she’s going along, and when he balks she insists on coming with him. This time she offers and he says no, and she backs off immediately and never questions his reasoning. She never asks him for a reason at all.
All of this suggests that between the end of 5x08 and the beginning of 5x09, something upsetting happened that had to do with cars. And whatever it was, it seems to be primarily upsetting to the three people who had the most reason to be upset about Beth’s death: Daryl (obviously), Maggie (obviously), and Tyreese, who was feeling profoundly guilty about his plan working out the way it did when all he ever wanted to do was keep people from getting hurt.
Then we get to the infamous 800 walker extras that both the showrunner and the makeup director talked about for Season 5. That footage? Never saw the light of day. Which is extremely weird. The amount of money, time, and coordination it would’ve taken to pull that off means there’s no way it just got casually scrapped. Especially when you consider they included one- and two-minute throwaway dialogue scenes in Coda on the dvd. If something that massive was filmed, it would’ve absolutely shown up in the deleted scenes or bonus features—unless it was being hidden for a reason.
And that leads us into another case of vanished footage. The Spoiling Dead Fans discovered another filming location—a white church—but they couldn’t get a good look because the entire area was blocked off, with walls put up to hide everything going on inside. That kind of secrecy means whatever they were filming there was important. Even more suspicious? Glenn and Daryl’s actors once posted a photo on Instagram in front of a white church. That post has since disappeared.
And now here’s where things get really strange: in the TAPP trading cards for The Walking Dead, Daryl’s Season 5 card actually mentions Beth getting a proper burial… at a church. I mean—what?! When the hell did that happen? We never saw a burial. We never even got a proper scene acknowledging it. But now we’ve got leaks and official merchandise suggesting they did film it… and then poof gone.
Taken all together, here’s the very rough theory: After the group flees from Grady and Atlanta, they try to find a place to bury Beth. Along the road to Virginia, they come across a small white church and decide it’s the perfect spot for a burial. But something goes wrong A massive herd aka the 800 walker extras we were told were filmed for Season 5—shows up, forcing the group to abandon the church before they can bury her.
In the chaos, they place Beth’s body in a vacant vehicle, using it as a kind of temporary mausoleum with the intent to return and bury her properly. Since she was shot in the head, no one checks for a pulse. They assume she’s dead and has no risk of turning. But when they eventually return… the car is empty.
This would explain the moment where we see Maggie sobbing in front of an open car door, It also gives new weight to the recurring vehicle symbolism around Beth—why cars seem to trigger such intense reactions in certain characters.
We don’t know if Beth turned, or if she was saved. Personally, I like the idea that Morgan found her. There are photos of him and Emily Kinney (Beth) filming together at the two small white houses— that supports this theory.
And if this theory is true, it also explains why Maggie and Daryl didn’t go with Rick, Glenn, Michonne, and Tyreese to Noah’s community. They were out searching for Beth’s body. Offscreen. there's a scene later next season, that supports this when Daryl and Aaron are out scouting for new people. They come across a blonde female walker tied to a tree, and for some reason, Daryl checks her face. Why? Maybe he thought—just maybe—it was Beth. because they never got to actually bury her.
============== how Beth could've survived the gunshot wound ==============
credit: @v0id-bellarke link to post x
this isn’t a theory really, but this is a post using medical knowledge proving that Beth can survive her head shot. I’m in college at the moment to get my pre recs done for EMT/Paramedic. And I’m in a program where we have free Paramedic training that the Paramedic company offers, and I’ve been with the program going on a year this coming summer. So I’ve retained a lot of knowledge the past year.
Remember when Dr.Edwards told Beth when she woke up from her coma ” You fractured your wrist, and sustained a superficial head wound"
For those who don’t know what a superficial head wound is, its a survivable injury located in your skull or the brain. And it can vary in any kind of injury. I think that was the biggest foreshadowing that Beth survives her head shot. I’ve seen other amazing theories getting into awesome detail, but we just gotta look at the obvious sometimes to see what’s going on. I analyzed her head shot, and it is survivable.
^^^First lets look at her entry and exit wound. By the looks of it she was shot by a 9mm pistol. Her entry wound in located off center to left and is probably the size of a nickle. And then her exit wound is probably the width of two quarters. That’s not big at. It does look bigger than it actually is because the blood around wound in her hair. And there is barely any brain matter coming out. Mostly blood.
Ok, so I had a use a different picture of her getting shot so I could get a better view of it. Her entry wound starts in the frontal lobe, and follows through in the parietal lobe and exits there. Yes, this is survivable. The thing that kill us if we get shot is if the bullet penetrates the brain stem. Which controls all your vitals, swallowing, sleep, nervous system, temperature, sense of balance. Many people who attempted suicide and shot themselves in the head have survived, because the bullet did not penetrate their brain stem. I will get into how her head wound will effect her in a minute.
I drew you guys a chart to show you the general idea where her brain parts are located. Sorry for the crappy drawing, and its more than likely a little off. But this is just for you get an understanding I want you to feel the back of your head. Do you feel that little dip on the nape of your head? That’s the area where your brain stem is. Now look at the picture of Beth. There is no way that it is possible that the bullet penetrated her brain stem, it is physically impossible by the looks of it. The bullet exit wound is even right above where her pony tail hair tie is. Your brain stem in not located that high up.
So you see where she was shot was in the Frontal Lobe and Parietal Lobe. Based on where she was shot, is survivable but she will have some brain damage. Usually after getting shot in this area you will be a temporary coma, how long it is depends on how bad the shot was, the person, etc. But if she wakes up, it looks like she’s going to have speech problems, lacking sensation in touch so she will have trouble identifying different textures, minor blindness ( won’t be able to see long distances ), emotional issues, and academic problems. So she’ll probably have problems reading, speaking articulately, basic math skills.
Side Note: This would make sense with Beth’s possible speech impairment, on Morgan’s wall No Killed.In.Action on BEF. Beth and BEF do sound similar. So this may be the way she pronounces her name and makes sense of it.
My mother is also a Nurse and she has said based on where she was shot, it is survivable. And I hate how I couldn’t find a picture of gif of Beth’s arm shot when she dies and she has a pool of blood around her arm. Ya’ll know what I’m talking about. But anyways, based on memory, her bleeding was very slow, trickling and dark. If her wound was fatal is would be an artery bleed. Which is large amounts of bright red blood bleeding out of you so fast it looks like a sprinkler. Also, I noticed when Daryl was carrying her outside to Maggie, he blood stopped. This is a good sign. Because that means her body functions are still working and her blood clotted to stop the bleeding. If she was really dead, the blood would still be pouring out, drenching her hair, getting all over Daryl’s arms.
So a medical perspective her head shot is survivable. Unfortunately we don’t know how long she’ll be unconscious, and she’ll have brain damage.

gunshot wounds: ear to ear - FATAL. Upwards through chin - 95% FATAL. Directly between eyes: FATAL.
He also said the most survivable gunshot wounds were those high up on the forehead, because often they did not even enter the brain at all.
Also, I am a resident of Tucson, AZ, where Congress woman Gabrielle Giffords was shot on January 8, 2011 while speaking to a group of her constituents in a grocery store parking lot - this happened about 2 miles from my home. “Gabby” Giffords was shot from approx 3 ft away in the back of the head and the bullet exited out the front of her forehead, the opposite of Beth’s gunshot wound. Gabby Giffords is still very much alive today and still an active political lobbyist. I will include two links - the first is to a YouTube interview from about 3 years after the accident. At about 3:50, her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, explains that Gabby has aphasia, which is a difficulty at times processing language and thoughts into words and is very common in brain injuries to the upper left side. another really good post by @apocalypse-married link x

Erwin Beekveld - They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard 2005
"They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" is a video that was published on August 16th, 2005, by Dutch musician and photographer Erwin Beekveld, as a Flash-animation on the website Albino Blacksheep. In 2006, it was re-posted to Youtube, where it gained over 12.5 million views and 38,900 comments in the first seven years. The two-minute video composed of multiple fragments from the film trilogy The Lord of the Rings became an internet meme, and has obtained a cult status mostly among fans of this trilogy. It is built out of scenes from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. In the video, actor Orlando Bloom is seen playing the elf Legolas, who repeats the line "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!" He is occasionally interrupted by Gollum (played by Andy Serkis), and also by Marton Csokas as Celeborn, who repeatedly inquires the whereabouts of Gandalf.
The dialogue is rhythmically set to a techno version of music originally composed by Howard Shore for the movies' soundtracks, and contains among others the leitmotif of the song "Concerning Hobbits". The song caught the attention of participants of a discussion forum sponsored by the Association of Literary Scholars and Critics, in which the dactylic quality of the song's prosody was discussed at length. (Read it here!)
In the book Fan Fiction and Copyright: Outsider Works and Intellectual Property Protection, "They’re Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" is mentioned as an example for the amendment on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, an American law concerning the author's copyright on digital media. The amendment from 2010 made it legal, under certain conditions, to use fragments from movies and television shows in personal videos. Musicologist Michael L. Klein (Professor at the Temple University of Philadelphia) mentions "They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" in his book Music and the Crises of the Modern Subject as an example of a meme and mash-up as the pinnacle of creativity in the postmodern age.
In 2013, after Orlando Bloom finished filming his final scenes on the set of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, director Peter Jackson published a video in which Bloom, dressed up as Legolas, sings along with "They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard". In the next five days, the video received more than 6.9 million views and 7,200 comments. In an interview for Rude Tube in 2013, Beekveld says people love or hate him for making the video, due to its catchy tune, and that it made him very happy to see Bloom sing along with his remix eight years later, which he states is the ultimate recognition. On 30 March 2022, Beekveld died of lung cancer at the age of 52.
"They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard" received a total of 82,5% yes votes!

the leaked mrbeast production doc kills me because like, for better or worse, this guy clearly has his shit down to a science. he knows exactly what game he's playing and he knows how to play to win. the actual doc is structured well, communicates its ideas clearly, but also was thrown together by a youtube guy who paid no attention to visual formatting or proofreading. and yet as much as I hate to say it, stuff like this is actually great and widely applicable advice:
What you consume on social media, when you watch youtube, tv, the games you play, etc. are what I like to call your information diet. Chris Tyson (our first subscriber and the guy in the videos) is a wonderful example of an information diet being used to perfection. The dude is funny as fuck. I’ve never met anyone in my entire life that can make people laugh like he can and I never understood why he was so good at it until I lived with him for a few years. The dude watches an obscene amount of cartoons and stupid shit. His eyeballs exsist to inhail copious amounts of just goofy, dumb, and brain numbing content. And as a result he can quote almost any line from any episode of spongebob. He’s able to draw from so much stupid shit in his head as inspiration to make jokes and be quirky. As a result he is fucken hilarious. But let’s imagine a different Chris, let’s say instead of cartoons and stupid shit, his information diet was stocks and investing advice. And for 5 years that’s all he consumed. Do you think he’d be just as funny as he currently is? No. He in my opinion wouldn’t even be 20% as funny. If you’re a writer or director you really need to monitor and perfect your information diet. If your diet is not correct, you won’t have a good pulse on culture. I don’t want you to be a chris, in fact, I think that would probably do you harm. Talent needs to inhale cartoons so they can be funny, writers need to inhale inspiration. Let’s say there is a purple fruit in the middle of Australia that when eaten makes you 2 feet taller. If it truly did exist, you wouldn’t have known that until just right now. But now that you know of it, you can draw on it for inspiration for every piece of content you write going forward. That’s beautiful, it can now sit in the back of your mind waiting for that one video where it is needed. It might take 10 videos or even 100 but eventually you’ll be brainstorming a bit and think of the right one to use the fruit for. Apply this to everything on this fucken planet. You. Can’t. Get. Inspired. By. Things. You. Don’t. Know. Exist. So how do you learn more about what's out there in the world? How do you stay up to date on the latest memes? How do you know what’s going on with celebrities? What’s trending on youtube? What other creators are doing? What’s popping on tik tok? Your information diet. Consume things on a daily basis that help you write better content.

Full Airport Scene Analysis
I've seen like, a lot of people do analyses of the airport scene, but they often do it in parts when I just want to fully hone in on the whole ass scene and give it a full run-down. So, get ready for this post to be extremely long.
So, the camera pans across from Argyle and Jonathan looking super bored and tired to both Will and El, and I think this is actually very clever. Before this scene, you're not really sure who Will is in love with or who he made the painting for. The fact that the audience may remember El saying 'i think there is someone he likes' and then see how Will is holding the painting so proudly means that they subconsciously realise, oh the painting is for Mike meaning -- Will has feelings for Mike. Note how the juxtaposition between Argyle and Jonathan's demeanour and Will and El's demeanour further showcases how they feel the same way about him (supposedly).
Also this is random, but watching this scene over and over again made me realise that Will's is literally shaking so much in this scene. (WATCH HIS HAND WHEN EL IS LOOKING FOR MIKE)
youtube
Now let's talk about Mike's outfit (yes this isn't just talking about how ass it is)
So in the amazing GQ video on youtube, the costume designer talks about how Mike probably bought this outfit at the airport. He's dressing up how he thinks he should in California -- the double meaning being that he is trying to 'be more normal' as Finn Wolfhard says in another interview.
In this scene we know that Mike's trying really hard to push down his feelings about Will, he's trying to seem like he fits in, and in the GQ video, Amy Parris talks about how 'it's bright, it's not a colour Mike normally wears'. Orange and purple? Mike usually wears blue..... and yellow........... i mean what
I guess you could say that in a more surface-y way, he's trying to fit in by wearing something less edgy than he would normally wear, but if you look deeper into the colour coding of byler, he's trying to disconnect himself from Will because of him trying to deny his feelings. Will is wearing blue in this scene, but Mike's wearing orange, showing the disconnect between them in the scenes with these outfits on. I know a lot of people say he's wearing yellow, but nah, it's orange and that's actually more proof that he's trying to hide his feelings for Will.
Also this is another quote from Parris: 'he's worn teal before, so it felt like orange was the best colour that was different from his closet that felt like he was trying to make it work in california.'
And it's not like they just forgot the colour coding for byler. I mean, there's blue and yellow in this shot of Mike when we first see his outfit.
Can you spot it?
Okay moving on
In the first and last Milkvan kissing scene, it is important to note that the directors of the show are very intentional with the extras and where they move to during the scenes. During the shot of them kissing, the camera is focused on them, yes, but it is very busy. Watch the shippers try to edit this scene, the duffers really said.
Firstly, Mike is wearing a visor, he's holding a bag so he can barely hug her, he's also wearing sunglasses inside?? You can't see his facial expression, further showing this season is not in his pov. Not only that, but people are moving in front of the camera, it's very very busy. It's supposed to be a little overwhelming. I could barely take a screenshot without someone walking in front of the camera... like that is not a coincidence, they aren't filming in an actual busy airport. So so many extras walk in front of them during the whole scene, not just the kiss, but while they are speaking as well.
When El goes to hug him, as soon as she does, he makes a little noise of protest or something and is like 'careful, careful' almost like he put the flowers in front of them on purpose so there's like an excuse for them to stop hugging? They then stop hugging and he finally takes off his glasses so we can see his face.
He is wearing sunglasses only in the parts where he's being slightly intimate with his girlfriend -- eyes are windows into the soul, no? Without them being seen, you wouldn't be able to tell what he is thinking, and he needs these in these intimate moments especially, in case anyone notices something's wrong.
Okay now we go onto the flower theory thing, and there are many things to unpack here, and stuff that I personally don't believe, and some theories that I do.
What is super clear to me is that these flowers are the exact same dead flowers that El picks up at the end of season 4 to signify that her relationship with Mike is.... dead (sorry if that's kind of on the nose). However, it is also key to note that Mike says that he 'handpicked' them for her in Hawkins, which on the surface makes it seem like he made more effort, but really this actually sets up the fact that they are the same flowers that can be found on the field. If he bought them in the shop, they may not be the exact same flowers in the last scene.
So Mike says 'I know you like yellow, but now I'm realising it's too much yellow'. The writers of the show did not have to put that in, let's just think about that for a moment. What was the reason for putting this line in? And the '70-30' split line is also very very specific.
Will's colour in the byler colour coding is yellow, it has been subconsciously put into our minds ever since they started colour coding them, for example the s3 netflix icons, the shirt he wears for the majority of s4 and the lights over his head in Rink-o-mania.
Personally, I think this might be a bit of a reach, but could Mike just simply mean that he was thinking too much about Will, in his opinion? Like subconsciously he kind of added lots of yellow because he was thinking of Will when he was thinking of El.
As for the 'So I sort of did a 70-30 split thing' line, I'm not really sure what this means. It could mean that he's putting in 30% of the relationship because he also added 30% purple flowers which symbolises what he's putting into the relationship. Meanwhile, El's favourite colour of flower has a 70% weight in the bouquet, meaning she's putting more into the relationship.
It's also worthy to see that El looks at the note which has 'From, Mike' on it right as he's saying all this stuff about the yellow flowers, and the music dies down from this joyful tone to a sombre one, kind of showing how the yellow flowers are a symbol for something.
Now, before this ^^, the only problem that we think is going on in Mike and El's relationship is the fact that El's lying to him about having friends and not being bullied. But now we have a possible reason. She is insecure about their relationship and how real it is. Her face says everything, she notices it, she then tries to ignore it and tells herself everything is fine.
The audience notices this, obviously, and is like??? wait what's going on? Why does it say 'from Mike'?
They get the answer real quick.
Because right after this, is when Will bounds over.
They shot it so that he's kind of in between them, subconsciously placing a thought or idea in the audience's head about what the problem is between Mike and El, even though it's very implicit at this point. The audience should also have the slight idea in this scene that Will has feelings for Mike, and they get reminded of this fact when they see Will in the background. They're then like.... oh so that's why they having problems? Damn....
Before El even stops speaking, Mike sees Will. We can tell from the way that he literally takes his eyes off El and goes 'oh,' before doing the second 'oh!'. I bet if this was shot so you could see his face, this would be way more obvious, but they shot it so that we could see Will's initial happiness at seeing Mike instead.
Awkward bro hug... um yeah so this is one of the biggest byler proofs to me. I mean, why would you need to hug your best friend like that? When you are perfectly fine at hugging your other male friends? (He hugged Dustin in the first episode btw).
Given everything that we know so far, that Will has feelings for Mike because he made him the painting that El said is for someone he likes; that there must be problems going on in the Milkvan relationship; that Mike is hiding his face and dressing unlike normal.... yeah he's trying to repress something. He won't let himself hug his best friend. Will is acting normal, they could have made him the one not to hug Mike because he is in love with him, but they didn't.
Also, unlike the Milkvan reunion, his face and his reaction can be very easily seen here. They literally zoom in on both their reactions to seeing each other because it is more important than Mike and El's reunion. This is what the scene is about!! It's main focus is on the development of byler and the breakdown of Milkvan. There are like very little extras passing across the camera because the directors want you to focus on their reactions here and how Will and Mike are feeling.
Obviously, Will is dejected but Mike's reaction is more telling. On the right gif, he looks down. Maybe he sees Will's painting and remembers what El told him, which was that it was for someone that Will likes. In my opinion, Mike does not know that it is for him. In Finn's words: 'I don't think he knows'.
After seeing that painting, he instantly looks to other people for their reactions to the hug, maybe being like, hey guys was that normal enough? Did anyone see that? Showing how he cares about the opinions of those around him or maybe that he doesn't want to look at Will for much longer idk.
After that...
Okay so now he's ready to ask about the painting. There's a beat, then he asks 'Uh, what's that' in this kind of breathy, panicky voice. It's not a casual tone at all, it's very tense, and the audience can tell, because this makes the audience tense too. When I first watched it I was like AHHH because oh shit. He asks it like he knows something is up with it, he knows that Will made it and it's significant.
The next shot is a slide-up from the painting to Will's face. This could be in Mike's pov to show that he was looking Will up and down, and this shot is inherently kind of romantic in that way. Either that or it's simply just to focus on the painting before showing what Will's going to say so that the audience know he's talking about the painting.
You can kind of see the cogs working in Will's head in the very little time between 'um' and 'it's nothing', as he realises that he probably shouldn't show Mike the painting based on how Mike didn't hug him.
Also notice how in the gif, an extra walks by the camera as soon as Will is not entirely truthful, so why would this not be done with El and Mike's reunion scene??
Now, this further pushes the agenda that Mike didn't hug Will because of his feelings for him. The audience already knows that this painting is supposed to be a gift for someone that Will 'likes' based on El's letter to Mike at the beginning. The fact that Will no longer feels comfortable with sharing that painting means that he is more unsure of Mike's feelings now that he's seen him irl.
However, the way that Mike goes cool is supposed to be weird. It's supposed to show the audience that he's pretending. I honestly don't know whether it's bias or the directors or the writers or the actors somehow made it this way but the speed at which Mike says 'cool' kind of just implies that he was not ready for that kind of confrontation. He was not ready to confront his feelings or enter into an interaction with Will about the painting. Because it means he can't deny the fact that he's jealous of Will having a crush on some girl. So he quickly shut it down.
He doesn't want to feel the disappointment that Will just basically confirmed the painting isn't for him.
In season 3, he is very interested in knowing who Suzie is, Dustin's girlfriend, but when he knows that Will has made a painting for a girl he likes, he doesn't bother asking at all what it is or who the girl is. He doesn't want to acknowledge it.
Also, the fact he wasn't ready to feel like this and is so focused on Will is shown by how startled he is by other people breaking the moment.
Now this next part is so funny given what we have already been presented with. We already know that Mike is self-conscious about hugging his supposed best friend, and that he does not want to confront his feelings about the painting. He is trying to be someone else because he is wearing unusual clothes for him, trying to seem like a normal person in California. He didn't want to hug his best friend because he wants to seem normal. He's out of character.
"Oh no, no. It's a shitty knockoff."
Laughing my whole ass off.
This ties the whole scene together. It makes the audience go OHHH right he's just been pretending this whole time (if they have any sense). It's genius writing. Without Argyle saying this, we might never really have full confirmation on whether he is really out of character or whether this is just how he has always been. NO, he is lying to himself. He is pretending.
They did not have to make Argyle say this. Ever heard of double meanings folks?
And Mike's reaction?
This reaction has always kind of been interesting to me. How would you assume how Mike would react to someone insulting him? Usually he would scowl or look annoyed but here he doesn't, he almost looks worried. Like oh no he's just been found out lmao
After this there's an awkward moment spurred on by Argyle Mike's like 'yeah this is so awkward'.
Now, since I'm literally Mike and he is me, I know what he's doing here by saying this.
I've done it before, it's where you kind of say that it's really awkward in order to make it seem like you're not the one making it awkward, like you're blaming other people (which he always does).
But Michael, it's kind of your fault?? Like, you didn't have to do the bro tap, you also didn't have to act that way around Argyle.
BRO WE ARE HALFWAY THROUGH NOW LMAOOOO THIS IS SUCH A LONG POST
Now onto the next part, where El is talking about Rink-o-mania and she starts lying again. I have watched this scene over and over and literally Mike barely looks at her once, while he glances at Will multiple times. I feel like audience members don't catch this explicitly, but subconsciously, they can sense that there is tension between the two because of the way that Will is placed during this scene…
I counted them up in this video and Mike glances at Will..
6 Times
Just want to say before we talk about each glance, this scene is extremely telling. It tells you exactly, through subtext, what the atmosphere between Will, Mike and El is going to be like throughout the season/ the beginning of the season. It's textbook foreshadowing.
Will is standing off to the side while Mike has his arm like really tightly around El. They could have had this scene be a cute scene between Milkvan because of how close they are, but instead this scene is about Will's sadness, about how he was ignored by Mike. He's still holding the painting, so the audience are still aware of its existence and what it could imply for Mike and El's relationship.
This scene is also about El lying! Not about how 'cute' Mike and El are.
Okay so here is me talking about every single glance <3
"Wha- Really?" -- Could Mike make it clearer if he tried? I think this is the most obvious one that the audience could easily catch, if they are watching without distraction. Which is important, because it is the first one. He stutters over his words when he realises that Will is looking back at him. Sound familiar? In a much more obvious scene, he does this with the triple take in the desert... It's also kind of clear that they looked at each other because Mike and Will look down/ away straight after Mike goes 'wha-'
"Trust me" "No I trust you" -- So this one's a little more subtle and maybe to the audience it could seem like Mike's looking at El, but then the camera turns to focus directly on Will and him looking at Mike with disappointment. I don't think he's upset about Mike completely ignoring him, but he's upset about this weird little awkward dance they're doing. The reaction from Will is because of the uncertainty. The fact they focus on Will with a single shot at all instantly makes this scene about his emotions primarily. This becomes a pattern.
"Rink-o-mania..." -- This one's also super subtle. I'm not even sure why Mike looked at Will here, but it is clear that he's not looking at El, if you want to slow it down then you ig. Maybe he sensed that Will was staring at him just a few seconds prior.
"Are your friends gonna meet us there?" -- Even though he is speaking to El, he looks at Will. This kind of shows that even when he is supposedly thinking about El and what they are going to do together, subconsciously, his mind is still on Will. This can then be seen in the Rink-o-mania argument when it is revealed that he has been focusing on Will's reactions all day when the audience believes originally that he was ignoring him: "You were! You were rolling your eyes, you were moping, you were barely talking, you basically sabotaged the whole day!" Mike, Mike, Mike. Your girlfriend being bullied didn't ruin the day, Will being pissy to you did? ANYWAYS THIS ISNT ABOUT RINKOMANIA JHDGASJHDG
"Friends what friends?" -- So this fifth one is kind of ambiguous because he has his visor on, hiding his expression and where his eyes are looking. But you can see with the way his head turned, that he was looking at Will because of the way he said "Friends what friends?" This is probably just Mike being confused on what's going on, then. BUT it is another thing that makes this whole scene not about 'uwu mike and el awww' but about Will's feelings or the fact that El's lying and the unstableness of their relationship.
"Angela?" -- This one is very notable. Firstly, here is what we know: Mike knows about the fact that Will has probably done the painting for a 'girl he likes'. Mike thinks that this 'girl' isn't him because Will says 'it's nothing'. Mike maybe thinks that El's friends are also Will's friends. AND Mike does not want to ask Will about the girl he likes because he doesn't want to know about Will liking someone else/ he does not want to confront his own feelings. So, The way that Mike looks at Will with that kind of dead expression, (and he actually does a little double take) is super duper telling. You don't know what he's thinking but if you read into it, he could be thinking that Will was feeling hopeful that Angela would come and is kind of nervous for it.
Finally, El says "I want this day to be about me and you!" which is meant to be ironic. The showrunners would not have put this little line in if it wasn't supposed to be funny tbh..... like this whole scene was about how El was lying and she's suddenly saying it's just about them.
Because of what she says as well, Will rolls his eyes and crushes his painting a bit. (HEARTBREAKING)... The fact that he rolls his eyes is probably just him being annoyed about what she said, because it further makes him feel like the third wheel. The scene ends with his eye roll, emphasising how this whole scene was about how Will is feeling, not the "Main Couple Of The Show tm??" But alsoooo, he crushes the painting :(((( meaning he was also feeling heartbroken a little by the fact that they are acting very coupley and Mike doesn't seem to care about him oops, since the painting is for him.
OKAY IM DONE LMAOOOO
In conclusion, this scene is about byler in the first half, and the flaws of Milkvan and Will's feelings in the second half. This scene is meant to foreshadow the arc between Will, El and Mike which transpires in the rest of the season. The bro tap is the gayest thing I've ever seen, and did not have to be included in this scene. It could have been Will that was awkward. It shows that Mike has changed. He has changed ever since Will moved away and he had that realisation. In season 3, Mike seems confused, unaware of his feelings. But now, in this scene, in only 2 minutes, we know for sure that Mike is in denial. He knows.
Anyways
Byler Endgame.

Your ‘Introducing our 9th member’ YouTube video was being filmed today. You were in a room just a couple of doors down from where the boys were going to shoot their part of the video. But while they were together, you would be all alone, and you were terrified.
“I can’t do this.” You were nearly hyperventilating as you stood on the set. Your knees felt like jelly in a bad way and your mind raced with all the worst outcomes. You paced and fidgeted through hair and makeup, struggling to get into your outfit because your hands shook so badly.
Chan stayed with you for as long as he could. He stopped your pacing and rubbed the tops of your arms from behind as you both looked at the set again. “Yes, you can. It’s just questions about you. Be yourself. Be honest.” He replied.
The problem was you suddenly had no idea who you were. What was your favorite color? Are you a cat or dog person? What did you fucking do for fun? You had no fucking clue anymore.
You turned from the set. Because this was going on YouTube you had planned most of it and you would also edit together the video later, but you had actively been avoiding thinking about your part in the actual footage. You have never been on camera like this before. Millions and millions of people would watch this video and judge everything you said and did. They would ruthlessly rate how you looked down to every individual eyelash. You would be MEMEd and GIFed within minutes of the video premiere.
“We can just release the photos and write a blurb about me on the caption. They don’t need to know me. They really don’t care.” You argued nerves getting the better of you.
Chan smiled at you softly and kissed your forehead, completely understanding your panic. “You can do this. STAY will love learning about you. And you have all of us in the studio down the hall if you need anything. We will keep our phones on. Call or text any of us, and we will be over in a flash.” He promised. He held your face in his hands, careful not to smear your makeup.
He took a deep, purposefully slow breath, waiting for you to follow his lead. Then he took another, and another. Until your nerves were at a more manageable level. For now.
Chan stood just off camera as you waited in the comfy plush white chair. Final checks and adjustments were being made. This part was all director and camera work. Your work came before and after this.
Before you knew it, they were calling Chris away to start their own checks, and he was waving one last time before leaving you alone.

You tucked your phone away with another deep breath. You can do this. You can do this. You can do this. You don’t have a choice. You already committed. You can do this.
The interviewer cleared their throat and began. “So start with your name.”
You plastered on the practiced pleasant face you had been working on. “My name is l/n f/n, and I am the 9th and final member of what is known as the Stray Kids soul group.
“How did you find out you were the 9th member?”
This was the whole reason we were doing this interview. Hopefully to stop anyone from ever finding out you were kidnapped and drugged into this situation. Not that you didn’t choose to and want to stay. You didn’t regret your choice at all. Not even once. “It was actually JYP who found me using his incredible reach and resources. He brought me to Korea as a surprise to Stray Kids.” It physically hurt to say anything decent about that disgusting man, but it was a necessary evil. And the story was close enough to the actual truth to be an easy lie to keep.
“Were their any issues in the beginning? Beyond the language barrier?”
You blinked. You had come up with and approved the questions, but the language barrier part was improvised by the interviewer and unexpected. Though you had agreed to some improvisation to make it seem more like a conversation, it still caught you off guard.
“They do not know it, but I am fluent in Korean. I learned from my grandfather at a young age. He taught me everything about my culture and heritage. It was very important to him.”
Now it was the interviewers turn to blink, stunned and thrown off. They recovered quickly, though, and immediately switched languages.
“You never told them?”
You shrug with a playful smile. “They never asked. It was never an issue. They all speak English well enough. And I was curious about what they would say if they thought I didn’t know what they were saying.”
“Well they will certainly know now. What do you think their reactions will be?”
“I think they will be shocked. It will be fun to see their faces when they realize.”
You were relaxing into the interview now. You had found the groove and were feeling good about how this was progressing. The questions about your speaking Korean got you off track, but in a good and natural way.
Plus, it gave you an idea. You would need to record their reactions later when they find out. It would be entertaining and fun. Something STAY would enjoy watching as much as you will.
Your interview ended first, which wasn’t shocking. Their answers would take longer because there were more of them. You still stayed off their set though, so they would feel free to answer honestly. You would see their video later when you edit it anyways.
Instead, you doom scroll online and sent funny Stray Kids memes to the boys. Spamming them with themselves. You found it endlessly funny to find ones that make you crack up and share them with the boys. They had the best reactions.
But only a few memes in Lino appeared and dragged you gleefully to their set. It was the same color scheme as yours was. But instead of a single chair there was two overstuffed couches and a coffee table with some snacks. They had several pillow and fluffy blankets to use and get comfy with. It was meant to be a cozy, comfortable chat.
You werent supposed to be a part of their interview. This wasnt in the script. "You are missing the point of having seperate interviews." You point out as Lino set you firmly between him and Hyunjin.
Hyunjin thew an arm around your shoulders. "We missed you."
"And you were blowing up our phones with memes." Chan rolled his eyes.
"Hey, I love looking at Stray Kids memes! I'll always be a STAY at heart. Now your number one fan!" You wink at Chan teasingly, making red dust his cheeks.
"We are almost done anyways. We spilled all the dirt on you already." Seungmin munched on a snack from the coffee table.
"Oh good. I feel less guilty now about spilling the tea on you." You didnt actually spill any Stray Kids tea and you doubted they spilled dirt on you, this was all banter for the camera.
For the next fifteen minutes you cuddled on the couches, chatted, and played around. You honestly forgot that you were being filmed or that there were staff in the room watching you. It was just you and your soulmates chilling, like any night at home.
~
The next morning over breakfast you noticed Chan acting fidgety. He kept glancing over at you as you scrolled through the socials you hadn't deleted yet and caught up on emails.
They had already sent you the raw footage from the interviews to edit together. But you weren't going to work on it today. Today was your day off and you were going to try very hard not to work.
"What's on your mind, Channie?" You finally asked clunking your phone onto the tabletop.
Chan coughed, choking slightly on his food as he was called out. Bin smacked his back and Lino rolled his eyes. "Can't even eat properly. Getting old enough that we have to puree your food before giving it to you?" Lino teased. You kicked his chair and gave him a look to be nice. In response he stood and left the room, coffee in hand.
"Chan? Everything okay?" You ask again when he was back in control of himself.
He cleared his throat twice to buy himself some time. "We haven't really talked about it. Just kind of brushed by. But we were talking and decided to ask. You can always say no. We would respect that one hundred percent! And it wouldn't change anything if you did! Promise!" He started rambling. Words vomiting out of his mouth that made sense but had no context for you to understand what he was referring to.
You really had no idea what he was trying to get at. He hadn't asked a question for you to say yes or no to. He hadn't even alluded to a question. Did he expect you to be able to read his mind? Because while you were learning the little tells of your soulmates, you had yet to master reading their mind. That would take more time.
Bin cut Chan off eventually, ending his rant and clearing things up for you. "We wanted to know if you want to go on dates with us. Individually and group dates. Like we do with each other already."
"Yes. That." Chan agreed letting out a breath and giving Bin a thankful look full of relief.
You bit your lip to stop from smiling as you felt like being a gremlin and teasing the man a bit. "Yes what, Chan?"
"Ugh, really?" Chan immediately caught on to your teasing.
Hey, if you were going to be asked out on your first date from a soul mate, it was going to be done properly. There would only be one time that you got to go on your first date with Chan and it would be done right, damn it. Even if you had to tease it out of him. You smiled and waited patiently, sneaking a teasing glance at Bin.
Chan sucked his teeth. "Willyougoonadatewithme?" His mouth didn't even move as he spoke quickly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't get that. Say again?"
"You make me regret this already." Chan sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. Bin laughed. "Will you, Y/n, my sweet, sweet, loving and beautiful soul mate. Who likes me enough to at least put me out of my misery one way or another. Will you please go on a date with me?"
"I would love to go on a date with you, my handsome Channie." You answer trying to hold back the giggles from his over the top third attempt at asking you out.
"Really? You want to try and be romantic with us?" Chan seemed surprised by your acceptance.
"I mean yeah. I thought we were naturally heading that direction." It's not like you hadn't been affectionate with each other. It was little things right now. Cheek kisses, hugs, cuddles, sneaky head kisses. But affection nonetheless.
"Awesome! I'm first. We are going in age order to keep it fair and not cause arguments." He explained.
You shrugged. "I know nothing about that. You are the only one who has asked me out." If he didn't think you would make each and every one of them properly ask you out, he did not know you well enough yet. You were going to drag them through asking you out just like you had Chan. And you would savor each and every memory from it.
"Thats their problem. Can you go today? Because I kinda already have a date planned."
"You have the date planned already even though you didn't know if I would say yes or not?"
"Well I figured if you said no, I could still take you just to have fun together in a nonromantic date way." He shrugged.
You wanted to coo. He had thought a lot about this date. Thinking through all possibilities so you would be comfortable. It was very sweet of him.
"What should I wear?" You asked.
"Casual. Movable. I would suggest pants." He informed. "I'll pick you up in 2 hours?"
You paused. "We live together. Where are you picking me up from?"
"Your room, obviously! It's our first date, let me do it right, Y/n, gosh!"
"Okay sorry! Two hours, my room. Got it." You fake salute him with 2 casual fingers.
Bin snorted, quietly watching your whole exchange. "You are such a nerd." He pushed at Chan playfully.
"Maybe. But this nerd has a date!" Chan shouted that last bit throughout the apartment. He stood with a huge smile and put his dishes away before coming to give you a kiss on the cheek and leaving the room with a bounce in his step.
Just over 2 hours later you laughed in delight when you saw where he was taking you. "Axe throwing! I've never done it before!" You took his offered hand as he opened the car door for you, and you went to the front desk.
"I saw you watching videos a couple times and thought it looked fun. I've never done it either." Chan admitted. This was new for both of you then. It will be fun to learn it together. And most likely be really bad at it together.
The instructor led you to a 'lane' and demonstrated how to throw an axe and a star. There were several projected fames you could also play so you weren't just throwing axes at a wooden board over and over again. It included tictac toe, hangman, and a zombie killing game.
You of course started with killing some zombies. You expected to miss every time since you had never thrown either weapon before, so you shrieked in happiness when your very first throw stuck into the wooden wall without a problem.
"Aha! You see that! It actually stayed!" You hopped and thew you arms around Chan, already having the time of your freaking life!
Chan laughed in delight and caught you with a huge smile on his face. "And you got a zombie first try!" He pointed out.
"Your turn! Your turn!"
You spent the hour and a half time limit playing each game in turn, the smile never leaving your face. And you only stabbed yourself once with the sharp point of the throwing star. You hadn't even really noticed, but Chan immediately did.
As soon as he saw the tiny drop of blood on the back of your hand, he worriedly grabbed it. It was no more than you would get at the doctor from a finger prick test.
"It's okay, babe. I just wasn't careful when I removed it from the wall and one of the points got me. It doesn't even hurt." You vaguely panicked when you realized you let a pet name slip, but Chan didn't notice, to preoccupied digging into his pocket.
Amazingly, he pulled out a band aid and antibiotic ointment. "You brought first aid?" You asked him in shock.
He ignored the obvious question. "You should still take care of it. Don't want it to get infected or scar." He mumbled brow furrowed in concentration as he nursed your hand.
You melted. He thought ahead so much that he came prepared with first aid in case something happened with the sharp weapons you were going to be using. He really prepared for everything.
Sighing in fond exasperation, you were completely smitten with him and his caring personality.
When your time was up for axe throwing, he took you for some food nearby, both of you still smiling.
"This was super fun, Channie. Thank you so much!" You were swinging your hands between you as you walked slowly back to the car, enjoying your time just you and him.
"Thank you for agreeing to come. Especially since we gotta be so careful and secretive in public." He responded.
It's true, though you hadn't really noticed it much, too focused on the man you were with and how much fun you were having. You both had to disguise yourself out in public so no one would see you together and spoil the upcoming reveal. You had easily accepted it as the norm when he brought it up at the beginning of the date.
Once inside the security of your apartment building, he immediately removed the disguises, looking relieved. You giggled and mussed his flattened hair into something a bit better. He let you, with a thanks and smirk when you were satisfied.
In the elevator, you didn't let yourself overthink it. You leaned in and pecked his lips before moving away again and looking ahead.
However, he caught your wrist gently in his fingers and slid his other hand to cradle your face and neck as he pulled you close again. You met the kiss halfway this time. The kiss was still a mild one but lasting much longer than your peck on the lips, and you let your body melt against his.
You eventually made it back to the apartment, sharing one last kiss before rejoining the others.
Lino appeared as you were removing your shoes, his arms crossed.
"Finally! I thought we were going to need to send a search party for you! We need to set a curfew." He chastized.
"Lino, hun, it's not even dark out." You pointed out patting his shoulder as you used it for balance.
"A time limit then. Or check in points. Something!"
I looked up at him. "Do you do that with your other dates?"
"No, but it's different with you!"
Chan kissed Linos's cheek in greeting. "Sorry we worried you. We will check in next time." He promised soothing Lino gently.
Linos posture relaxed. "It's just. You know there are dangerous fans out there. It's a risk to let your guard down too much." He sighed.
You were reminded again how different your life was going to be now with Stray Kids. Even a simple date was more of a risk. Going out in public at all was putting yourselves in danger. Not just from being recognized, but to be mobbed as well. And if we weren't careful, someone could overhear or see something that could damage Stray Kids' reputation. The realization was kind of mind-boggling.
"Hey, you're back! How was it?" Felix asked as soon as he saw us. He didn't seem to be as worried as Lino was.
You felt your face light up as you remembered. "Amazing! We went axe throwing! It was so fucking fun!" You gushed. You immediately brought out your phone to show off the pictures you took.
"Hyung setting the date bar high, huh?"
"It's not a competition, Lix."
Lix laughed through his nose with a half smile.
"We are a group of eight men and one woman. Everything is a competition when it comes to you." Lino stated. Chan and Lix nodded in agreement. You sighed and rolled your eyes.
The rest of your day off was spent catching up on chores and unpacking the boxes of your stuff that had finally arrived. You also needed to build a bookshelf you bought. It had been leaning on your wall since it had been delivered. You were procrastinating the headache and frustration of building the damn thing.
So, keeping up with ignoring things you didn't want to do - or build - you started by unpacking what you could without the shelf. Mostly what little clothes you decided were worth keeping, and the collectables you couldn't bring yourself to give up.
Admittedly a lot of the collectables were Stray Kids and other K-pop memorabilia. Other groups that you stanned. You couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed by all of it for the first time in your life. But there was no way you could let it all go.
So, you hung up your fan made OT8 skzoo art in the frames on the tree Hyunjin painted and set up your skzoo plushie collection on your dresser. Your multiple K-pop shirts got put away carefully and the acrylic stands went on the dresser and desk. One or two even on the bedside tables.
After a few more sentimental items were set up or put away, you could no longer ignore the bookshelf. You were at a point that you could no longer put the rest away without it. Everything left was set to be displayed on it.
You dumped the boxes contents unceremoniously on the floor before looking for the instructions that got buried. The noise attracted a curious Han.
"Oh! It's so cute in here!" He complimented looking around at the new additions.
You flapped your hands at him, blushing. "Stop looking! I was STAY before ever meeting you, I couldn't just let all this stuff go! I spent years and a lot of money collecting it!"
"You are too cute!" He gushed just a little teasing.
You sighed. "Whatever. You may not want to stay in here. I'm about to curse a lot trying to put this stupid shelf together."
"Want some help?"
"Thank you for the offer, but it's okay."
"You sure? I don't mind. I kinda like doing stuff like this. Plus, it will go faster with two people."
Yah, true, sure. But You were used to doing things alone and you just knew you would get frustrated and snap at Han. Then later you would feel terrible. This was all still too new and you didn't want to hurt any of them on any day, but you really didn't want to make them hate you and send you away.
But still, the offer was tempting. "Okay. I'm sorry in advance, though, for anything I may say or do." You warned him
Han waved you off with an easy smile and sat on the floor across from you. "Don't worry about it. I understand."
Together you open the instructions and lay it flat on the floor. There were a lot. It unfolded to poster size or bigger. Sure, it had pictures, but not nearly enough to make up for the sheer number of instructions there were.
You suddenly regret every decision that led you to this moment right here. The work ahead of you seemed so daunting and impossible.
"Okay. It's a shelf. Can't be too difficult." Han said quietly, more to himself to you.
As it turns out, even building furniture is better with your soulmates. Han had this cute little frustrated pout that melted your own frustration any time you saw it. In between the two of you and the directions in two different languages, you were managing to figure the shelf out well enough.
"I think we put this piece on upside down." You said tilting your head sideways.
Han studied the shelf, then the picture on the directions intently. "Damn it. We did. Fucker!" He concluded.
You laugh as his pout increased and he began to grumble under his breath while removing the upside-down piece. Your laugh made him look over at you, and something he saw made the frustration leave his facial features and be replaced by a soft smile.
Finally, after 90 minutes, you both dusted off your hands and stood back, admiring your handiwork. He helped you move your new, extremely heavy, 5-teir bookshelf to a nice blank spot on a wall. It fit perfectly.
"Now you just got to fill it up." Han sighed. He flopped on your bed and made himself comfortable.
You kick the box half full of books, albums, and photocard binders gently with your bare toe. "That's the easy part."
You bent and grabbed some books first. You had kept several of your favorites that had beautiful dust covers or printed edges. Some were signed by the author. And some were just your favorites. Worn down from being read over and over again.
You place them on the shelf in such a way that it displayed the beautiful art or edges. You took great pride in your little collection. And you would have fun collecting more and adding them to the empty spaces you still had on the shelf.
The albums came next. You had acrylic stands for displaying your favorites or the ones with amazing covers. They are placed just so to show them off.
The photocard binders are something that you spent a lot of time on and were very particular about how they went on the shelf. You didn't really display them like the books or albums. There were a select few favorites in protective cases and displayed, but very few. The binders went on by group and placed in timeline order within their respective groups. You were slightly OCD about it, and it drove you nuts when anyone messed with them.
Finally finished unpacking, you glanced over at Han and noticed with a start that he had fallen asleep watching you finish your room. You carefully grab a blanket and drape it over him, tucking him in gently. It was late, and he had stayed up to help you. The least you could do was leave him to sleep. And you really didn't mind sharing the bed with him for the night.
Quickly and quietly changing into your pjs, you crawled slowly into the bed next to him, scootching under your comforter carefully and flipping off the light. Relaxing when your movements didn't wake him up. To prevent gossip and rumors among the group, you left the door open. You weren't sure how 'that' part of the relationships worked yet and didn't want to cause problems.
It was odd sleeping with another body next to you. You were used to sleeping alone. But that being said, you fell asleep quickly and deeply. Feeling content and secure among your soulmates, and doubly so with one closer than usual.

Why Byler needs to be canon (and will be)
I know that this has been said before, but Byler being canon would change so much when it comes to queer love being depicted in movies and TV-shows. If one of Netflix's biggest shows can have an extremely well-written and overall beautiful queer love story between two of the main characters AND in a show that is not being only advertised for a gay audience like, for example, Heart stopper, that means that so many doors would open for queer representation in media. So many new shows would be open to representing queer people correctly (instead of using queer people in shows for brownie points) and normalizing queer characters.
If Byler isn't canon, then that would be tragic for not only Will's character, but also the queer community. My first ever post on my blog was me saying that if Byler isn't canon, then stranger things would be the one of the worst cases of queer baiting. I still stand by this point because if there can be a slide show with over 300 slides proving a queer relationship and it ends up not being canon, then there is no way the directors didn't know what they were doing especially in a show with such a high budget. Queer baiting is devastating for the queer community, but I cannot speak for the queer community as a strait woman so if you would like to speak on any queer baiting issues i'd love to hear your thoughts.
Also, if Byler isn't canon, then Will would have been kidnapped by a monster, bullied, been possessed, fought multiple other monsters, fought with the US military, and then on top of all that, he would confess to his crush who is a man in the 80's and been rejected. Give my man a break and let something good happen to him. This has to be my biggest Byler proof because the Duffer brothers already have queer characters in their shows so I don't see them queer baiting their audience. By the way, they don't even need to queer bait because they already have such a big audience.
Now let's talk about Mike. Again, I've seen people discuss this fact before, but if Byler is not canon, then the Duffer brothers are horrible writers. What explanation could there be for Mike becoming such an asshole to Will for no reason in season 3 and 4 if there could be no internalized homophobia? This character shift would make absolutely no sense because Mike and Will have been best friends for years, so Mike being so awkward when seeing him in the airport would make no sense. He had no problem hugging Will before he moved to California.
In season 3, Will asks to play DnD multiple times and Mike tells him that he's growing up and talking to girls which means he isn't interested in playing "childish games" anymore. He tries to be normal as much as possible this season and to grow up. However, what does little ol' Mike do after Will leaves? He joins a DnD club and he expresses to Lucas that he doesn't have any desire to be popular. This switch would again, make absolutely no sense.
Another big detail is that when Mike goes to California, he goes back to trying to be as normal as possible, as said by Finn Wolfhard. So, when Will is around, he feels the need to be normal and avoid his feelings for Will which he sees as childish (INTERNALIZED HOMOPHOBIA!!!!). There is a video on YouTube by loser sits by herself (go watch it if you haven't already its amazing) where she goes into depth about Mike associating his feelings for Will with being childish, so that would explain why he wants to grow up in season three, but then not having this desire after Will leaves because he doesn't need to because Will is no longer around. If Byler doesn't happen, then what would be the explanation for this switch??
Let me know if you think I missed anything and thanks for coming to my yap session.

MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference 2025 - Decisions on Ice: The Next Frontier of Hockey Analytics (YouTube video. Please be advised you WILL be hearing it entirely from your left ear.)
Arda Ocal is moderating, hear from: Philippe Desaulniers (Habs, makes the tools GMs use to fetch data, reports, anything), Meghan Chayka (Stathletes), and Jeremy Rogalski (Bruins - he does get asked about trade deadlines briefly due to the banger that they had this season LOL)
I liked the diversity of voices here, felt like I was getting an interesting cross-section of the kinds of people who work in analytics & their perspectives. Lots of fun things but the first section was what I found most interesting. They talked about how analytics has changed coaching rooms, players and their relationship to analytics, and give a bit of insight on how that interface all goes nowadays. Transcript of that part below <3
ROGALSKI: Echoing what Phil and Meghan said, like, just the way to describe the game. Y'know, working with a - I started in the coach's room doing video work for them, and watching how, even a pre-scout for a game evolves from, y'know, coaches previously would watch like, three games of video and kind of look for some common trends in that, maybe do a deep dive on the season. But now you can describe, like, how a team breaks out, or how their power play formations are in so much detail that wasn't available 10, 15 years ago to put that together.
[...]
ROGALSKI: It's actually interesting you use the word 'storytelling', too, because I think Meghan's bang-on, I think, about a lot of inquiries coming our way now, which is great! But I think also in terms of, y'know, building a relationship with a coach, understanding what their schedule looks like, what their needs are, where they have windows of time to work through and educate on the data.
But also, I think packaging it in a digestible way, right? You're still, in some ways, doing the same thing with a coach where if there's a point you're trying to make, there is a time for a fact: "This guy's whatever on faceoff percentage," that's a fact, that needs to happen. But sometimes you gotta package it in a narrative that really helps them understand how they can then turn around and use that fact to improve the team or communicate to a player. So there is a component of that storytelling that's needed as well.
DESAULNIERS: To tack on what Jeremy was saying... So, I really see three things mainly that are important in order to have communications flowing between our group and the coaches.
The first thing is, really, it's really great to have a translator. You usually will have, like, someone on the team, or you want to have someone on the team who's able to speak the language with the coaches and who understands on the analytics side.
And so we'll be creating some reports, some setting up the information there so it can be consumed, and then you'll have, you, in our (the Montreal Canadiens') case it's Chris our Director of Analytics, who will be talking with the coaches and knowing what the coaches are expecting and presenting it in a way that they understand. So that's one thing.
The second thing that we found effective is, we've started creating some concepts that we try to keep as simple and as high-level as possible, but that then become part of the vocabulary that we have with the coaching staff.
So just to give an example, we'll be talking about players that are, that have a certain number of pillars, we call them pillars, which are at the bottom. They're metrics, very specific metrics, that we're tracking - you don't need to understand all the details to know that, okay, so this guy has a four pillar, or five pillar, and this way you know, like, where he stands at a very high level without having to dig into it.
The third thing that we do, that we've done, is get the coaches on board, so work on a way of organising the metrics based on what they're looking for, what their understanding of the game is, and organise the information that way. So then when they start digging into it they actually see what they were looking for.
And you get the buy-in from them, too, when you're doing that, because they've worked on it to build that structure.
ROGALSKI: I would add one thing, too, that I thought of. You raise a good point, too. I think visuals are huge here, too, right? Whether it's a heat map or just picking the right graphic or trend, or something that's -
DESAULNIERS: Colours!
ROGALSKI: I mean, reds and greens, like, it helps. It truly does help.
CHAYKA: Not to play your role Arda but I have a question for Jeremy, because you've been through some different coaches. Do you find, like, coaching staffs, as they change... From my work I find some are far more, just, ease of use and understanding and their ability to implement it in their game flow. Works a lot better for some people's style than others, have you seen that change with, like, different coaches?
ROGALSKI: Yes. It's definitely seen a change. Also, I think now you're starting to see coaches have worked with different teams, so. Before it's, you're educating on, "This is what we can offer you," now it's, you're coming in with a set of preferences, or, "This is what I worked with previously, " so.
Y'know, more recently it's been coming in with a set of expectations for, "I know this works for me, is there anything you want to add or change or do whatever?" So, it's definitely, there has been a change.
OCAL: That's a great question, I want to generalise that, like, y'know whether it's a first-time coach like Marty St Louis, whether it's a Jim Montgomery, or a long tenured coach... Let me start with you, Meghan, like, from different experience levels of coaches, in the NHL or otherwise, how have you found their acceptance and how they use that in their daily jobs?
CHAYKA: And I think it can be background, too. You know, you, you're a math grad, you like numbers. Some people come from engineering. People come to coaching in so many different ways, so they have such a different way of approach and understanding and ease with it.
And I think that they can just implement it and know what's assumptions and what's noise and what's actually important to them and their job that they need to do. So I think it's just being realistic about your personnel.
But I will say that I've noticed, doing the Draft a lot, and at ESPN and working with Draft people in the CHL and doing a lot of Junior work, that young people now expect data. They want it, they want to take control of their own, whether it's a coach or a player coming up. So I'm seeing, like, the 25-and-under crowd.
It's not, "Do I, should I use analytics?" it's like, "Why aren't we using analytics? Why isn't my agent doing that for me? Why isn't my team doing that for me?"
And I think that, too, both empowers people working in tech but also empowers, like, the person who that data is being used to dictate their career, right? Giving them some control and oversight and insight into what they actually have to improve. So it's kind of, like, flipping it on the head a little bit.
OCAL: The paradigm is changing!
CHAYKA: Correct.

Mel King's Letterboxd Top 4
Little Women (1994) dir. by Gillian Armstrong
One of Mel's favorite movies growing up because it is a story about sisterhood and resilience. Mel was also obsessed with the book and reread it so much that her childhood edition fell apart by the time she got to the fifth grade. When she and Becca would playact scenes from Little Women for their parents, Mel played the roles of Meg (Trini Alvarado) and Beth (Claire Danes), whereas Becca played the roles of Jo (Winona Ryder) and Amy (Kirsten Dunst/Samantha Mathis). As you can imagine, this made for a very interesting spectacle in which little Becca would have to pretend to argue with herself.
The Parent Trap (1998) dir. by Nancy Meyers
Another childhood favorite of both Mel and Becca. The actress that plays Becca, Tal Anderson, revealed recently on her instagram that Mel and Becca are twins. Even though Mel and Becca are fraternal twins, whereas Annie and Hallie (Lindsay Lohan) from the film are idential twins, Mel was still drawn to the movie because Annie and Hallie became best friends during their time at camp. Mel, who hated to see families torn apart even as a child, was quite taken with the idea that with enough scheming you can bring a family back together again. The scene in the wine cellar between Elizabeth (Natasha Richardson) and Nick Parker (Dennis Quaid) still makes Mel cry to this day.
Howl's Moving Castle (2004) dir. by Hayao Miyazaki
Mel stumbled upon Howl's Moving Castle when she was a freshmen in college through a free screening by the anime appreciation club at her university. In addition to the breathtaking animation and calming musical score, Mel was drawn to Howl's Moving Castle because Mel related to Sophie. Mel always knew that she would one day have to take over as her sister's main caretaker (although at the time she did not realize how soon that would actually be), and Mel felt a kinship with Sophie in that she felt much older on the inside than she was on the outside. Guiltily, a part of Mel also felt envious of Sophie after she was cursed to look like an old woman, because the curse allowed Sophie to escape from her family and their demands. Mel was also quite taken with Howl and his story. She was intrigued by the idea of a man who is handsome, confident, and charming on the outside, yet on the inside had a hole where his heart should be that he did not know how to fill. Mel always swoons at the scene in which Howl and Sophie meet for the first time and he says, "there you are sweetheart, sorry I'm late, I was looking everywhere for you."
(Thank you to @murphycooper for being the first person that I know of who pointed out that Mel is Sophie coded, while Langdon is Howl coded.)
Eighth Grade (2018) dir. by Bo Burnham
Mel watched Eighth Grade in theater when it was first released. A fan of Bo Burnham's youtube videos growing up, Mel was excited to watch his directoral debut not expecting it to hit so close to home. A story of a shy eighth grade girl with a single father and a mother who had recently left, Mel really connected with how the main character, Kayla (Elsie Fisher), struggled with her confidence and self-image. Kayla's attempts to make friends, many of which ended in failure and embarrassment, mirrored a lot of Mel's own experiences growing up. Although not a word for word reenactment, the conversation that Kayla has with her father near the end of the movie over whether or not her father is sad to be her father was similar to a conversation that Mel had with her own father when she was in middle school. When the movie ended, with Kayla having gained more confidence after making a friend (who is perhaps a future love interest) by being true to herself, Mel started clapping in the empty theater not caring what the teenagers in the projection booth might think of her.
** Disclaimer: This is just for fun, and mostly based on speculation. Let me know what other movies you think would be Mel's favorite in the comments.**

In Broadway bio-musical "Just in Time," Jonathan Groff is a-splishin' and a-splashin' eight shows a week as chameleonic crooner Bobby Darin.
And frankly, you couldn't ask for a better steward of his legacy. On a recent Zoom call from his dressing room, where he keeps a picture of Darin and Liza Minnelli, the affable actor lights up as he expounds on his favorite deep cuts ("I Am") and performances ("The Judy Garland Show") from the "Beyond the Sea" heartthrob.
"Wow, I'm really nerding out right now," Groff says, grinning. "He was such a special performer. I mean, Lucille Ball used to play canasta with her sister and put 'Darin at the Copa' on repeat. There's a video of him singing 'If I Were a Carpenter' with Stevie Wonder on YouTube, and they're going back and forth. He could hold his own with every great entertainer."
Groff, 40, is Tony-nominated once again this season for best leading actor in a musical, after winning the award last year for Maria Friedman's heart-rending revival of Stephen Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along." "Just in Time" is similarly emotional as it recounts the too-short career of Darin who, after a lifetime of health issues, died of heart failure in 1973 at only 37.
But the musical is also an infectious showcase of Groff's megawatt charm. He conceived of the production eight years ago with director Alex Timbers and producer Ted Chapin. It's performed in the round at the intimate Circle in the Square Theatre, which has been transformed into a swank nightclub with two separate stages and table seating. Groff begins the show as himself, chatting and dancing with theatergoers as he steps back in time to tell Darin's story.
"The cabaret tables, and me starting as myself, isn't just a gimmick," Groff says. "It feels like an essential way to celebrate the energy and spirit of who he was as a performer."
Groff is beloved by Broadway fans from "Hamilton" and "Spring Awakening," although this is his first time developing a musical from the ground floor. "Jonathan has thought about the show in its totality – his performance, but also the writing and design and choreography," Timbers says. "He's a storyteller that cares about how every element contributes to the clarity of the narrative."
We spoke with Groff about "Just in Time," his career so far and what's next:
Question: Bobby Darin covered many musical theater standards and always wanted to star on Broadway. How does it feel to get to realize that dream for him?
Answer: It feels so special. His son, Dodd Darin, wrote me a beautiful letter saying, “Thank you for keeping my dad’s story alive.” Bobby Darin was so prolific and so ahead of his time. Before “Cowboy Carter" was genre-swapping, he was gaining fame and then immediately genre-swapping. Even for me, I knew “Splish Splash,” “Mack the Knife” and “If I Were a Carpenter.” But I didn’t know they were all sung by the same person, or that he wrote “Dream Lover” and “Simple Song of Freedom.” So I feel really proud to be sharing his artistry with the world again in this way.
There's a quote that's widely attributed to Bobby: "You only die once. You live lots of times if you know how." Looking at your own career, how do you feel that you've managed to shape-shift and evolve?
Every new project feels like a different life. I feel so lucky that last year, I was doing “Merrily We Roll Along,” which was a huge dream. Meanwhile, we had been trying to make the Bobby Darin show for eight years, and we did this final gesture of a workshop while we were doing “Merrily.” The gift of being able to come right back to Broadway in such extremely different projects has felt like living two lifetimes. I’ve always dreamt of being on Broadway ever since I was a kid, so to have as many creative experiences as I’ve had in my last 20 years of being an actor, I really feel deep gratitude.
And what has stayed the same? When you think back to the little boy in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, who dressed up as Dorothy in his dad's barn, what has been the through line ever since?
Isaac Oliver wrote me this line where I get to say, “I was twirling in my mother's heels in Amish Country, Pennsylvania.” A thing that has changed is 20 years ago, it was a lot of closeted men playing straight on Broadway. But at the top of this musical, I really get to own who I am as a gay guy. I get to declare exactly who I am, and then take them on the journey of this playboy crooner, who in many ways, was the polar opposite of me. I’m just incredibly grateful to live in a time where I can own that shift live in front of the audience.
The thing that’s stayed the same is that every show is like the middle-school play or performing in my dad’s barn. This is why I relate the most to theater and why I always go back. There’s something primal about the lights going down in a space, and there’s an audience and the performers on stage and the simplicity of telling a story. It’s just my favorite thing in the world.
Was there a moment that really put time into perspective for you, or showed you how valuable life is?
My grandfather died on my 10th birthday. I remember the night before that, we had a birthday party and the whole family came over; all the grandparents and cousins were there. I got VHS tapes of “I Love Lucy,” because I was obsessed with “I Love Lucy.” I blew my candles out, went into the living room, and just sat in front of the TV watching these episodes on repeat. The next day, we got the call that my grandfather died, and my 10-year-old self was wracked with guilt and regret about the fact that I didn’t even say goodbye to him when he left. I was so glued to “I Love Lucy.”
I then became really superstitious about saying goodbye to my dad whenever he would leave to go to work. I would stand in the window and wave as the truck went away in the distance. But that was the first time death really landed for me. I remember seeing him in his coffin and comprehending at 10 that he's not going to wake up.
So what do you hope this next decade looks like for you?
I turned 40 this year, and I had a revelation when I was blowing out my birthday candles: No more wishes, just thank you. Even with the marathon that is opening a Broadway show and then doing a Tony campaign, I don’t feel worried like I used to. By the time you’re 40, you’ve sort of learned who you are and what you need. I’ve found my tribe of people that I love, which makes the whole experience less stressful.
Back in 2007, you said you were so happy doing "Spring Awakening" that you couldn't imagine leaving it. Is it rare to find projects that give you that feeling?
I remember the week of doing my huge, epic fight scene with Keanu Reeves in “The Matrix Resurrections.” I had been training for so long, and we shot it over the course of five days. But I remember standing in the shower in Berlin on a Tuesday, like, “OK, by the time I get to Friday, I will have done it. I will have fought Neo. I can breathe and relax and go out to these clubs.” And then I remember thinking, “No, Groff, don’t wish this time away! Try and enjoy the stress and intensity of this moment. Don’t just fast forward to Friday – that’s not a way I want to live.”
So there are jobs where the end will come and I’ll feel a sense of relief. Not with "Just in Time." I love it so much. I can’t even think about leaving right now; I’m dangerously into it. My friend came to see the show last night and he was like, “Jonathan, I just have this feeling you’re so happy up there, that whenever you leave this, there’s going to be some postpartum.”
I thought that was going to happen with “Merrily” and it didn’t, because we had a real, complete experience. So maybe when I get to the end of this, it’ll feel like a complete experience and I’ll be ready to let go. But right now, I’m Gollum.

Speaking of Zootopia, I heard that the original script of the movie was better and much darker?
Correct me if I’m wrong about any of this, but-
In the original plot of the movie, Zootopia is a prey-dominant society where prey feared predators so much that they put ELECTRIC SHOCK COLLARS on them that would activate when feel immense emotion, specifically excitement, anger and upsetness.
Nick is the protagonist where his father tried to create a fun park for predators where they can take their collars off I think, but always got rejected for this idea.
Eventually Nick as a adult goes to the doctor and gets his electric shock collar temporarily removed from his neck and he imagines being on a roller coaster with his friends, feeling thrill and excitement he wasn’t ever able to experience in years.
This temporary freedom inspired him to - similar to his father’s idea - create a park where predators can take off their collars and have fun, be thrilled and feel excitement. It includes roller coasters and ball pits.
His idea gets rejected by his father’s idea many times, until he can get approval for it from the polar bears, which are a shady group.
His idea succeeds and he creates the theme park - disguised as a doctor place I think - that he wanted, which is underground, where predators of all ages to have fun and be feel to feel intense excitement and happiness.
That is until someone shot him with the serum that makes him go “wild” and “insane” as well as foam on the mouth.
Likely around that time, Judy Hops working for the police sneaks in and discovers the secret underground theme park for predators.
This results in Nick along with the other predators getting arrested and his park getting shut down.
I don’t know much about the rest of the story after that, but eventually for some reason Judy and Nick team up together and sneak into part of a building, where a “taming party” is taking place (a.k.a. Young polar bear child gets his shock collar).
This results in a heartbreaking part of the original plot of the movie where the father polar bear is forced to put a taming collar on his son. His son gets excited after receiving the gift and gets happy and excited, resulting in him getting shocked by the collar, making him rush into his father’s arms for comfort.
This results in Judy Hops seeing in first hand the horrors, maltreatment and discrimination predators experience.
So yeah - that’s all I know about the original plot of the Zootopia movie.
Also they was and still is multiple storyboards and incompletely animated scenes of the original plot of the movie on YouTube if you want to see them.
And I could be wrong about this, but I heard that the plot of the movie has been changed NOT because of how dark and/or “controversial” it is — but because they didn’t want people to hate the city Zootopia. What the FUCK-
Ah, yes, the infamous original story behind Zootopia. Here's, to my knowledge, the best video clipping together the deleted scenes (start at 4:23 for the deleted scenes of the original concept). (I don't think it has them all, some extra digging is needed)
While I also remember there being some quote about an executive or another creative telling the team that the world of Zootopia was too grim and unlikeable, at most. Tinfoil hate mode is assuming that's what was in the director's deleted tweet, which I couldn't find. So, for right now, the reasoning why things changed is this:
“We asked ‘What are we saying with the movie?’ If we’re telling this movie about bias—something that is everywhere and in all of us, whether we want to admit it or not—the character that’s going to help us tell that message is Judy, an innocent, [who comes] from a very supportive environment where she thinks everyone is beautiful, everyone gets along,” Howard said. “Then let Nick, this character who knows the truth about the world, bop up against her and they start to educate each other. When we flipped that, it was a major flip, but it worked so much better.”
How Disney Fixed a Huge Mistake
About two-thirds of the way through production, we changed the story to Judy’s story, because Nick, being kind of a cynical character, he didn’t like the city of Zootopia. He was kind of oppressed by the city of Zootopia. And in our movies, we want the audience to like the world, not dislike the world. And it was very confusing with our main character as someone who didn’t like the city, how do we feel about this world? So we said, let’s just try, as an experiment, making Judy the main character — since she’s an optimist, she sees the best in everything — let’s try making it her story and see what happens.
One Major Change Zootopia Made To Its Story, And Why
Truth be told, I think it's a mix of both executives wanting the world to be more marketable and the story team not wanting audiences to hate the world they created. I also don't think that the plot would've been much better in terms of its messaging, though I'd be intrigued by the film if it kept the original premise.

okay........ thoughts.............. omg......... we still up kevin macleod!!!
but there's mapicc and planet this time and i think it feels less... hm... alone? crazy? maybe? like it feels less unsettling then it did last time, probably because the two other people are also here and messing about so this feels normal. Almost normal. The fact that planet and mapicc just go with it makes me feel like this is just... normal. like this is normal and fine.
I thought it was interesting how Mapicc refused to leave Spoke we up devious!... im so sure the other 2 don't gaf about the dragon egg shit and just wanna like help him.
also what did spoke say? something like 2 months since he talked to planet? so things happen in real time and this means it's been like also a solid 2 months since he presumably talked to mapicc (finale was 2 months ago)... damn bro. they're probably also lowkey worried
erm anyways as for the whole like video editing thing... i don't know what to make of it... there are portions where "normal" spoke uus1 video music is used and then we have the "normal" uus2 music for spoke... lowkey i think it's less intentional than i was making it out to be and it's more just meant to be a tool that shows how uuspoke is viewing what he's doing as not that big of a deal. not that serious. or whatever. but i don't think it's a malicious/intentional thing.
but i guess the "intent" in the editing is something else i thought was interesting because uuspoke canonically edits his own videos (he talks about editing stuff onto the green screen in post) and posts them to youtube... (he pulls up his own channel to watch back his first episode). the voice over is him. he's aware of it (you can tell from day 49 because he says little "day 49" blurb to mapicc) (also there's the overlapped voice overs on day 50 but i don't think that's ingame spoke since no one else reacts to it...)
but yeah... it's uuspoke who's editing this video and posting it and writing those descriptions and comments
speaking of comments hello bro.
and that ending... i think we might get a villain spoke which would be really cool. actually, it really feels like he's following down ash's footsteps... maybe he'll end up working directly for the director and that's his involvement.
lowkey feels almost like it's paralleling to the wormhole... like... his perspective on how he was just doing something for the sake of the mission in front of him, completing whatever impossible task, and in the progress of just doing this mission for the sake of doing it he ends up ruining all of his relationships... maybe that's a stretch ahaha... idk i was just rewatching his wormhole vid like 2 days ago so.
anyways bro who is this kid
also sorry if this is ass also im gonna hate everything i said here after i get home so take this all with a grain of salt i just friend my brain at school all day xoxo

The man accused of the fiery assault on pro-Jewish protesters in Boulder, Colorado, did not complete his attack plan “because he got scared and had never hurt anyone before,” police wrote in an affidavit.
Boulder Detective John Sailer wote that the suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman arrived at the scene Sunday with 18 Molotov cocktails but threw just two while yelling “Free Palestine.”
Soliman, 45, told authorities he took a class and learned to shoot a gun while planning the attack, the affidavit says. He later found out he could not purchase one because he was not a U.S. citizen. He then taught himself how to make Molotov cocktails from YouTube videos, the affidavit says.
He told authorities no one else knew of is plan but that he did leave a journal with his family.
Soliman, a native of Egypt who lives in Colorado Springs, is accused of attacking a weekly "Run for Their Lives" demonstration on Sunday. Twelve people ages 52 to 88 suffered burns ranging from serious to minor, police said.
A federal affidavit charging Soliman with a hate crime and attempted murder says he targeted the “Zionist group." Soliman said he learned about the demonstration from an online search and wanted to keep Zionists from taking over "our land" of Palestine, according to the affidavit. It says Soliman, the father of five, told investigators he planned the attack for a year and waited for a daughter to graduate from high school before executing it.
12 burned in Boulder attack: Suspect charged with federal hate crime
Soliman's daughter won local scholarship
Investigators say Soliman told them he waited until his daughter graduated to mount his attack. That daughter appears to be Habiba Soliman, who was profiled in an April story published in the Colorado Springs Gazette as one of its "Best and Brightest" senior class scholarship winners.
Habiba told the paper she arrived in the United States as a high school sophomore speaking little English. She attended Thomas Maclaren School, a K-12 charter school, where she not only worked on her English but signed up to learn German as her foreign language requirement. She also started an Arabic club.
Habiba was born in Egypt but lived in Kuwait for 14 years. Because she was not Kuwaiti, attending medical school there was not an option, she said. The move to the United States provided a chance to fulfill her dream, she said.
“Coming to the USA has fundamentally changed me,” she said. “I learned to adapt to new things even if it was hard. I learned to work under pressure and improve rapidly in a very short amount of time. Most importantly, I came to appreciate that family is the unchanging support.”
Soliman's path from Egypt to Boulder
Soliman is a native Egyptian who entered the United States in late 2022 on a tourist visa. He later requested asylum and remained in the country after his visa expired in February 2023. He, his wife and their five children lived in Colorado Springs, about 100 miles south of Boulder. Soliman worked as an Uber driver, the company confirmed.
His daughter, Habiba, graduated from high school with honors on May 29. Her dad drove to Boulder to attack the protest three days later, according to investigators
Unable to purchase a gun, Soliman told investigators he turned to gasoline, glass bottles and a backpack sprayer often used by landscapers to dispense pesticide or fertilizer. Soliman told investigators he stopped several times, on his drive from Colorado Springs, to buy the bottles for the Molotov cocktails, the 87-octane gas to fill them and to Home Depot to buy flowers as camouflage to make it easier to "get as close as possible to the group."
− Trevor Hughes
Trump administration pledges crackdown
Todd Lyons, acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said the immigration story of Soliman is far from unique.
"There are millions of individuals like this that we are attempting to locate from the past administration that weren't properly screened that were allowed in," Lyons said.
President Donald Trump, in a social media post Monday, called Sunday's attack "yet another example of why we must keep our Borders SECURE, and deport Illegal, Anti-American Radicals from our Homeland."
Secretary of State Marco Rubio, echoed Trump in his own post, warning that "in light of yesterday’s horrific attack, all terrorists, their family members, and terrorist sympathizers here on a visa should know that under the Trump administration we will find you, revoke your visa, and deport you."
Boulder suspect's next court date is Thursday
Soliman appeared in court on Monday and was ordered held on $10 million bond. He is due back in court on Thursday. The suspect faces a maximum sentence of life in prison if found guilty on the federal hate crime charge because he was also charged with attempted-murder in state court.
Soliman also faces state charges including 16 counts of attempted murder and 18 counts of possesion of incendiary devices and related offenses. The attempted-murder counts alone are punishable by up to 384 years in prison, Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said.
More federal and/or state charges could be added later, authorities said.

I've been wanting to write this thing because I think there is recently a trend of spreading rumors and canards against Thomas accusing him of so many things without any solid proof. Some of them are very easy to disprove, but others are easier to buy especially if you're predisposed against him, so I needed to make this writing to clear out some of these things that have blatantly been invented to hurt Thomas.
One, the most serious one, the pedo allegations. Some people say that Thomas started dating Leo when Leo was 17. For starters, there is no solid proof of Leo's age at all, that old site, famous birthdays, is famously unreliable, but if we take that data as truth, Leo was born on January 23, 1994, so now he would be 30 years old. Thomas and Leo never ever recognized to be in any relationship, they always called each other, both of them, best friends, they shared an apartment together and they have always been on good terms, even now Leo participated in the production of the Yours video. Even so, there's absolutely not a single photograph of them together previous to April 2012, when Leo was well over 18, an none of these photos feature them in any romantic attitude. They're just pics of two friends having fun together as the best friends they both have always claimed to be, and even in the case they had dated, they were both legal consenting adults, so it wouldn't be our business to say anything about them, especially when both of them remain in good terms and with a solid and close friendship. Plus Thomas said that he was dating one of the military guys in one of the Vines where, while he's waiting for the bus, he invites a group of soldiers to play Pokemon cards, he filmed that Vine during one visit to his boyfriend over there, and that was in 2013-2014, disproving any relation with Leo at the time.
With this said, this accusation, that was brought up back in 2016 by that old crappy group of aphobes that wanted to destroy Thomas for defending ace people as part of the LGTBQIA+ community, falls down like a house of cards. The same group that, remind you, showed some pics of Thomas supposedly grooming two teenagers in some thespian competition... the teenagers were Joan and Kyle, two of his long time best friends, but they hid their faces in an effort of trying to pass them as strangers, a futile effort because the original photo was available for everyone. They also asked what was he doing going around children in a thespian competition... not knowing perhaps that in 2012 Thomas was working as a substitute teacher in that school (remember he's a chemical engineer) so it was only natural he was there to guide people wherever they had to go. From a people as unreliable as this one, believing any other accusation from these people is being purposefully gullible for the sake of hatred, I say.
Second, some people claim that Joan left the Foster Dawg team on bad terms with Thomas and that Joan wouldn't work for Thomas anymore. This one is so easy to dismantle, because just a few weeks ago, Joan appeared in a phone prank video (with Leo, nonetheless) and has appeared in several Patreon livestreams, as funny and witty as always with Thomas, Talyn or both, also, Joan participated in the production of the Yours video, editing the color ambient, you can check it in the YouTube description where the credits are featured. And also, Joan is about to record with Thomas many Director's Commentaries for Sanders Sides videos for Patreon. For someone who is in bad terms with Thomas and wouldn't work with him again... that's a lot of participation in his projects, isn't it?
Here's the reality: Joan and Talyn had to leave Florida because of Talyn's health condition worsening. Talyn needed to go somewhere with a colder climate, as Florida's warm and humid weather was damaging for Talyn's cronic disability, which had already forced him to drop his work on Sanders Sides as makeup artist, which he *loved* doing till the end, as he said in a YouTube vlog, shortly before leaving Florida, he said he hated having to leave Sanders Sides. Joan and Talyn moved to Vermont in the nort of the country, near to the border with Canada, where the weather is much colder and, also, people is so much more accepting of trans people. There was where Talyn finally started transitioning as male. Joan at first tried to stay on Sanders Sides directing Thomas remotely, they filmed together several episodes and participated on the writing of the show up until Working Through Intrusive Thoughts, but the distance and Joan's desire to start new projects of their own made him decide to leave the team. It was never on bad terms. Joan and Thomas are still best friends. Joan has returned with Talyn to visit Thomas on Florida many times, and Thomas has gone to Vermont to see them once. Thomas and Joan still as good friends as always and whoever said Joan was on bad terms with Thomas is simply lying to spread discord and doubt. Don't pay attention to them, they're lying.
This one is more recent as it comes from the most recent video. There's this claim going out that the thumbnail of that video was made with AI and criticized Thomas for disrespecting artists with that choice. For starters, there's no solid proof that the thumbnail was made with AI, and secondly, claiming that it was without proof is disrespectful, not to Thomas, but to the thumbnail author that was credited since day one in the YouTube description of the video: Lev Ettinger. How do you thing Lev is gonna feel if he sees these claims accusing him of using AI for the art? Is that the way they try to protect artists working for Thomas?
About other things related to how he manages his business, it's not our place to tell Thomas or anyone how to manage their own business and their own property. Thomas already has a management and legal team that takes care of that stuff. It's already hard enough for Thomas to try and create content that is attractive and fun for us, and that's the only thing he should be focusing on, working-wise, not the drama that some people want to stirr because they just hate him for some reason, or simply because they enjoy the drama, there's people like that too. I'm not against honest criticism, but I'm not buying any of it if it comes from a place of lying an manipulation. In any case, I finish this long but important text with these words: "May fortune protect us from "cizañeros" (as we call bad faith manipulative gossip mongers in Spain) you never see them coming but you can see all the destruction they cause when you look behind you, if you can see past the dagger in your back."

Now Playing: Interview with Jujutsu Kaisen Cast
A/n: this is written in a script-like format. Basically kind of like watching an interview video in youtube or smn. This one is basically branching off from this fic.
Characters include: Sukuna, Toji, Geto and Gojo
[Today's Guests: Jujutsu Kaisen's "Big Boys"]
Gojo: Hi, I’m your good looking sensei, Gojo Satoru. (Gojo playfully winked at the camera)
Geto: I’m your resident curse manipulator, Geto Suguru. (Geto introduced himself with a soft and gentle smile)
Sukuna: I’m the King of Curses, Sukuna Ryomen.
Toji: And I’m the sorcerer killer, Toji Fushiguro.
[Today, these four men will be answering five BTS FAQ’s fans have regarding the hit show, “Jujutsu Kaisen”]
[First question: Is Sukuna Ryomen related to Yuji Itadori?]
Gojo: Oh! A lot of people really want to know the answer to that. (Glances at Sukuna)
Sukuna: He and I have got quite the spitting image of each other, huh? Am I related to Yuji or not? In what sense? In real life or in the show? You know, not long ago, he and I actually went on a trip together. We went to Maldives, and we came across Todo.
Gojo: How was it?
Sukuna: Honestly, it was so fun. We went scuba diving, snorkeling, watched some dolphins and whatnot. Oh you know, Yuji is actually a really good swimmer believe it or not. (Laughs) The seafood was really fresh too, and then at some point Yuji started craving wagyu.
Geto: We should go there together.
Toji: A guy’s trip? (Looks around at Sukuna, Geto and Gojo as they all nod to each other).
Sukuna: Anyways, we’re twins, or it’s what people like to say. I can’t give you a proper answer if you don’t specify. (Smirks at the camera as he shrugs).
Gojo: All that information about their trip, and he still wouldn’t say. (Amused)
Toji: A true menace. (Nods)
Producer: Your castmates, surely know, right?
Geto: (Teases) Do we though? Do we?
[Second Question: Was Toji’s reaction to Gojo losing it real?]
Toji: I’m guessing they’re talking about the fight. We were flying, huh? (Looks at Gojo).
Gojo: It was so fun filming that! We had harnesses attached to us pretty much the entire time—flinging us everywhere. I bet none of you guys ever felt like what it’s like to fly, huh? (Playfully smiles at the camera)
Sukuna: Other actors that filmed something similar?
Geto: People on amusement rides?
Gojo: You know what I mean!
Toji: Anyways, when we were all doing the script reading, we kind of get into our characters and deliver our lines with voice acting to prepare for the scene we’d film. During that time, Gojo delivered his lines really well, but when we were filming? Gojo… really seemed like he was losing it. (Laughs)
Gojo: What can I say? I slay✨
Sukuna: He was quite drunk when filming that scene was he not? (Smirks knowingly)
Gojo: (Whispers to Sukuna aggressively) Bro, shut up.
Toji: He was drunk? (Surprised)
Geto: After you guys filmed all the action scenes, we gave him a shot of alcohol before you guys filmed the scene where he was “lucid”. He’s very lightweight (smiles as he points to Gojo).
Sukuna: It was a shot for a shot (lightly giggles)
[Third Question: What did Gojo say to Suguru?]
Gojo: This is like that one question asking if Sukuna is related to Itadori. (Laughs).
Geto: Even on the script itself, his line was literally just a line.
Gojo: I had to think of something to say during filming, because they needed that scene of me saying something to Suguru. I didn’t know what to say because in the script it was just a line— a dash. So, during filming I just simply said, “I want kikufuku.” (Laughs with amusement)
Geto: I almost pulled some kind of face, but I had to hold it in (Laughs).
[Fourth Question: Are the twins Geto’s actual daughter?]
Geto: The twins are not my actual daughter, but the little girl that played Rika is.
Sukuna: Isn’t Megumi also Toji’s actual son? The set is filled with real life parents and children. (Laughs with amusement).
Toji: How did she get casted?
Geto: Basically, the director wanted to film the fight scene between me and Yuta first, and the little girls that were casted before her got scared of me during the fight scene. They had to re-cast like 3 times. They all ended up crying, and then eventually my daughter said, “Oh! Let me try!” The director liked how it turned out, so they just did all the scenes with her.
Sukuna: Wow, you out there making children cry, huh? (Says teasingly)
[Last Question: What’s the best part about filming?]
Sukuna: For me, it was definitely working with Yuji. That kid, I’m not even going to lie, is fun to be around. Although sometimes, he has too much energy. He’s very goofy and definitely brings a fun and light mood to the set.
Toji: I tend to have a very busy schedule, and so does my son— especially with both him and I being in the same industry. Though it was only for a short while, I’m glad filming Jujutsu Kaisen together gave us more time to hang out.
Gojo: For me, it would be the amount of team work that we’re all putting in to make this show a success. Everyone is honestly so easy to work with. I know Sukuna seems very menacing in the show, and maybe in real life too because of his tattoos, but he’s actually nice. (Laughs) Honestly, I’ve made quite a few new friends working on this project.
Geto: Honestly, it’s nice to be able to work on a project with Satoru again. Last time we ever worked together on the same project was when we both walked the runway for one of my wife’s collections— maybe 7 years ago? Yeah, and my wife being involved with the outfit production and my daughter being on set, it kind of made the set more comfortable to be in.

hi!! I was thinking about getting into marvel because of your Loki audios. not solely because of them, but I think Tom Hiddleston is a great actor, and, from what I've seen of Loki, he seems right up my alley! do you have any recommendations on how I should watch the movies? Should I watch the spin-off series for him or any other series? thanks!!
oh... i can only apologise.
TWs mentions of fatphobia, transphobia, and a movie scene of borderline-(if not)sexual harassment in the MCU.
firstly the mcu is incredibly daunting to get into because theres so many movies and tv shows and they're all canon and you have to watch them all or you wont understand any of the next movies and that's... a lot.
okay so. i did like the marvel movies, i was really into them... and yeah it started feeling like the quality was going down and the creators cared less but i kept watching them.. and then endgame happened. with it's constant fatphobic jokes at thor, constantly making fun of his mental health and depression, the weird 'gay representation' that was nothing. and i haven't watched an mcu movie since. i couldn't stomach it. and then they started making mcu tv shows. and i watched wandavision and thought it was okay.
and then the loki series happened. and while it's an alternate universe version of loki and not the same loki character that's in the movies, it's still loki. and in all these interviews the actors and writers and director were talking about how loki was finally canonically genderfluid in this show.. and then i watched it.. and i thought oh no this isn't trans rep.. maybe it's coming later?.. it didn't come later, as the show get going it went from 'hey wheres the trans rep' to being actively transphobic. i felt sick. i was harassed online for being trans in the marvel fandom, for being trans and liking loki and wanting better representation. i spent months putting all my thoughts and research into a video essay which you can watch on my emptymasks youtube channel called 'the failure of the genderfluid representation in loki'. i, and others, really wanted people to think critically about how transphobic the show is but no one listened. one of the shows writers ignored questions about the trans rep and picked out the few mean questions to answer on twitter. the director ignored the questions about the trans rep and instead painted all the people complaining about the show as evil by pointing out how one bad actor had threatened her dog, making loki series defenders think everyone complaining about the show was making threats. they gave interviews about fans saying crazy things, but never once addressed the fans asking about the transphobia. the show got a season 2. i didn't watch it. i get upset thinking about the show and don't ever want to be asked about it.
and then moon knight came out and i gave marvel one last chance. and it was good. and i liked it. and while it's DID rep isn't fully accurate, it also isn't harmful. and then.. nothing. crickets. for years. until one day they announced they had cancelled moon knight and it wasn't getting another season despite the cliffhanger it was left on.
and they made thor 3 which people love, but thor does sort of character regress and go from this dad-friend that i love to an idiot. and then they made thor 4.. which has thor forcibly stripped naked and borderline sexually harassed and it's played for laughs. if that was a female character i doubt they would have done that scene.
so can i recommend getting into the mcu? personally? i find nostalgia in the old films pre-endgame. i love loki. i love bucky. i really liked tony and thor. i liked clint and nat. i liked steve. (apart from age of ultron which is decides that women who cant have children are 'monsters' and is real sexist in what it does with natasha, surprise it was that directors last marvel movie he got to work on).
so if you really want too. if you want to see loki. firstly, know that the loki series is about a different version of loki, an AU, an alt-universe, not the loki who goes through the events of the films and all that character development. and in my opinion, not one should watch that offensive transphobic fucking show.
but if you really want to see loki. the actually loki, the original, the one i voice in my audios. this is his appearances in order:
Thor (film)
Avengers / Avengers Assemble (film) (however you won't understand who the other avengers are without watching all the films that come before this one, not just thor)
Thor: The Dark World (film)
Thor: Ragnarok (film) (references the events of age of ultron and civil war so again you might not understand everything)
and i do still have love for those movies. loki will probably always be my number one comfort character, he was the first character i feel so in love with, and i found him at a time my life where i didn't have anyone irl to turn too and i turned to a fictional character and as sad as that sounds it was better than nothing and he'll always have such a special place in my heart. and when people tell me the way i portray him does a better job than the mcu, in terms of his genderfluidity, it means so much to me. i only started questions my gender because of loki and him being trans.
he is also in avengers infinity war, which is a part 1 or 2, the second part being endgame. i can't stop you from watching them but i also personally can't recommend endgame. also you will not understand anything that's happening in avengers infinity war and endgame without watching all the previous captain america, iron man, doctor strange, spiderman (the mcu ones, not amazing spidermans, not the sam rami spidermans), captain marvel, black panther, the antmans, the guardians of the galaxy films and any others that got released before it. to watch infinity war you need to have watched 20 films before it. which is a lot of films. not including that 'agents of shield' and 'agent carter' the tv shows are canon. not including all the short films. people recommend you either watch the movies in the order they were released, or the chronological order of the years the films are set in.
a lot of people have said marvel movies dropped off after endgame, that they're struggling to get audiences invested after getting rid of so many main characters, that the only reasons rdj is coming back as a new character is because they feel lost without him. idk. i do think the people making them... it feels like don't care. that it's just for the money.
if you really want to understand everything and get into the avengers and see all of loki's films then you could watch every film from iron man 1 up until thor ragnarok. and then you can decide if you want to keep going.
i'm sorry if this was depressing answer. but i can't stand the current mcu. i can't think about the mcu without getting upset and angry and frustrated. and i don't want anyone to tell me it's good now, or that thunderbolts was good or anything. i don't want to be recommended the mcu.
i hear thunderbolts was good. people are excited for the new fantastic four movie. but the mcu has burnt me too many times for me to every trust it again. they'll never be the films i want them to be. so i'll be over here living in my 2012 avengers au fics where everyone lives in stark tower together, including loki, clint's hiding in the vents and thor's eating poptarts.
you asked. this is my honest answer. and i've shared these thoughts on the mcu before.
however.
if you like loki. if you like what loki could be when allowed to be great and have character arcs and redemptions and be genderfluid. and if you like or are okay with reading comics. then feel free to ask me for loki comic recommendations. they do him a lot more justice than the films. if the loki series had adapted 'agent of asgard'... imagine what we could have had.

Out of curiosity, when/where did you first learn to animate? What inspires you to make your animations?
(I'm partly asking this because the urge to animate hit me like a truck once I really got into PMATGA, lmao. I've only ever made around 3-4 small ones over the span of several months)
Good question! Long answer! :'D
I've been dreaming of being an animator since I was young, because my elder sister studied animation and that's where I learned more about it. She gave me her copy of The Animator's Survival Kit from Richard Williams after she finished studying, and I've kept it with me ever since. Mind you, I never finished it, because distractions happened XD But I've read the first bunch of pages and started getting a fletchling idea of how animation worked. This was when I was around 10-14 years old. My favourite movies were almost exclusively Disney or Dreamworks classics, and my love for them grew as I grew older. I keenly observed their animations and analyzed what it was that them so appealing, long before I actually learned how to animate properly. Through observing what made those animations so appealing and life-like, I've built up references in my mind as a benchmark as to how animation is supposed to look. So when the time came to learn animation properly, I've already had a headstart thanks to observation, which sped up my learning quite a bit.
Now, let me tell you about a man named Aaron Blaise.
youtube
To say that Aaron Blaise is an animation legend would be an understatement.
He was the co-director of Brother Bear. He worked on various Disney movies that shaped our childhoods. He animated young Nala from The Lion King, Raja from Aladdin, and he also worked on Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Pocahontas, and the Rescuers Down Under. He left Disney in 2007, but in 2012 he teamed up with a friend and decided to start CreatureArtTeacher, a website where he shares everything that he's learned, whether that be animation from his time at Disney or just art in general. He brings aboard many other professionals in the same field and beyond, where courses are offered at the most affordable prices. Often, he'll also offer lessons on various art subjects on his YouTube for free, and he livestreams frequently!
It's thanks to these lessons that I've learned more about animation. While I didn't practice often, I did start taking my first steps into doing animation, spurred on by inspiration from Aaron's videos. This was around age 16-18. Unfortunately, I can't track down my first ever animation I've made. But I did make this sometime before turning 20;
Yes, that's a BG shot from pmatga XD
So going into my twenties, I knew enough about animation to make small little snippets such as the one above, but I wasn't yet at the point where I'd consider myself an educated animator. And here's the thing; when I went to university, I studied Visual Communication & Design, which mostly focused on graphic design. In that course, we did do a little bit of animation, but it was nothing I've already known, and it was mostly cut-out animation where you control it like a puppet in After Effects. What I really wanted to do was dive deeper into traditional 2D cell animation, but we had to preferably work in 2D cut-out animation to save time. It was a cool learning experience, but also a bit frustrating because I prefer the traditional frame-by-frame method. Alas, that would take too long, and my uni projects ran on a 2-week basis (a new project every two weeks), so I couldn't push to improve my animation skills in the direction that I wanted to. I still learned quite a bit tho, and got valuable experience with different programs, so I guess the time I got a taste of animation education was around the age of 22.
But then came 2024, age 24, when I got hired as a storyboard artist at my current job. Thanks to the company's help in giving their workers the space to learn new things, I finally tackled animation in earnest. I brought out the good ol' The Animator's Survival Kit and Aaron Blaise's courses and taught myself as much as I could, along with the support and guidance of the studio. Needless to say, sometime afterwards I could make the Rubber Pac animation I did here.
So yeah! It was a combination of things. Both my sister's influence and the influence of animated movies from a young age, Aaron Blaise's courses, university, and real-time work experience are what taught me animation <3
As for what inspires my animations, it mostly comes down to music tbh. I can always conjure a scene in my head along with whatever music is playing. Other than that, it's the desire to give life to something in an intrinsically human way, especially as art. I've always felt closest to God as an artist 💙
Told ya it was a long answer xD But hey, twas a fun answer! >:D
