🌺Hot For Teacher🌺
Read Next [Only a Dream Class]
Imagine you the nerdiest student of a high esteemed college. The said geek and loner with glasses that warranted hi and goodbye. It was difficult being a trans student also. But,the professor of your class took delight in you regardless. He'd stop and chat, and even offer to take you to lunch.
Happy someone noticed you,you longed to get to know your professor better. Even the sound of his name made you swoon when he introduced himself to you in a personal way. His name was Beleth Alexandersson. You frequented the library and he took note of it,tracing your fingers as you turned the pages to the biggest of calculus books. He made it an opportunity to get a touch when you dropped something..as it was pretty normal for your teacher to lend a hand, but he didn't hover over you too much as it would become noticeable, obvious and weird.
Rumors circled that the calculus professor was a forest dryad. His alluring scent and unique features would make every gender student fall madly in love with him. Of course in a simple word, perfect. It was off-putting that a male dryad would have the name Beleth,a name associated with demonic creatures..not faeries!
Smooth with his words and actions it was hard to turn away. Hard to not offer yourself up to such a figure of sheer majesty.
You : [blushes] Professor!
Adjusting his glasses while grading multiple papers,he stopped, and gazed upwards at the sound of his college given title. You felt yourself flush as his pale eyes met yours. Hot for Teacher was literal,as you fell hard for the professor.
Beleth : [soft chuckle] Here before all the others. Wanted to catch me by myself? [chortles] I'm joking with you, easy.
The sound of his voice made your heart race and your knees weak. Unknowingly you ached there as he spoke. His presence was heavenly and there was no denying that. It worsened further as he approached. Pinching his tongue in his teeth,Beleth gently put a hand to your chin, and looked deeply into your eyes. Being touched or kissed by a man taller than you was every teenage girl's wet dream.
Beleth : Have a seat..Let me give you reassurance..We're both well in the same age range. There's no big difference..so no need to be scared of me.
That wasn't true..the dryad was thousands of years old,in the form of a heart throb for a likeable late teens professor. He was comfortable in his skin and blended well with society as a human. He was highly versed about the ways of humans, culture and customs, also their quest to attain mass knowledge.
He returned to his desk, resting his glasses on the mountain of graded papers to toy with his paper airplane. You giggled at the childish sounds he made with the airplane he had folded up and created out of the puzzle section of the morning paper.
You couldn't focus on your studies, eyeing Beleth every time he looked away,or glossed over what he had planned to lecture and teach. His curved ears perked, hearing your nervous gulps even though you were so far away and high up in the auditorium. Such lovely shaped ears were well hidden by his hair.
Suddenly the groaning and screaming of students began pooling into the auditorium. A smile seemed to form on his face,as he put down his newspaper airplane and put his glasses on.
Beleth : [soft smile]If you want to survive in a tech driven world..I hate to break it to you, You will eventually need this stuff later on. I admit, there's always a subject you're gonna hate. But let's be real here. You're not going to seriously scroll through your phone during an important lecture or an interview for the job you're trying to score, and hold the whole thing up to find the said answers required to look good or fit the bill. Wouldn't you want to present yourself as a self reliant and knowledgeable individual?Pretty sure I'm right, judging by your faces.
These atrocities no one cares about..angles mixed with numbers and letters..They look silly and useless, right? Trust me,you will need them in some situation. ALL of the stuff you learn will play some role in shaping and defining your future. Nothing you gain in life is wasted.
Every decision will matter. Even though you don't care,it's always best to have it up here. Hearing my lips flap for an hour or two each day will come handy..Believe me.
Beleth gestured at his head.
A lot of the girls were whispering and giggling at how handsome their professor was,and he heard it,pinning his ears back,to reduce sounds. Groans, moans, questionable hmms and angry verbiage from the other students followed suit. If you're a forest creature with fantasy ears, you're going to hear everything! Beleth did pick up on some very offensive words towards you..but kept focus..and would bring it up after class.
The said lecture continued for a good, long while, you melting in a fantasy with your beloved professor more than paying attention you snapped to reality looking like a fool,as the chairs quickly emptied, leaving you by yourself. Everyone hollered as they grabbed up their graded papers, bidding their farewells and onto the next class. You came down the stairs to receive your graded paper, usual was an A without a problem.
Beleth : [clears throat] It's appropriate to pay attention. But I'll pardon you this time.
You : [nervously] I was..[weak laugh]
You looked away nervously, but he gently turned your head back towards his line of sight, lifting your chin with his finger, ever so tenderly. Those beautiful pale eyes cleaved into your soul once they met with yours.
Beleth : Aside your blatant fantasizing about me...What went on up there with those girls to the right of you? Not the squealing ones on your left.
You : They always pick on me religiously, but I don't care..
He started to speak in a low tone.
Beleth : If it involves what you are,not to flirt with you..but you are quite the looker to me..no one should question that.[normal tone]Aside this,You said you were paying attention..
You : [nods excitedly] I was..honest.
He raised a brow and crossed his arms.
Beleth : Let's see if your claim holds weight...Give me a small speech of what I lectured about..Keep it at a few words.
Your mouth was gaped, eyes darting back and forth, thinking as to what he lectured about, and you remained wordless. He gently closed your mouth.
Beleth : My thoughts exactly.
He took off his glasses and placed them on the desk.
You : You're not angry at me are you,Beleth?
You cupped your hands over your mouth and your eyes glittered. Heartbeat rising, becoming a bundle of nerves, calling the professor out of his title,You swore you were done. A soft smirk crossed his lips,as to the way you said his first name. It was always Professor Alexandersson or simply the cutest and most affectionate "Teach". No one had such a privilege to call him by his first name, only his wife and other relatives.
You : [tearfully gasping] I didn't mean to..[stammering] I'm so very sorry Professor Alexandersson...[gulping hard] I...
Beleth : [softly] Shhhh....
His finger so soft upon your lips as tears streamed down your face. You never meant to call the dearest teacher by his name. He was hardly upset, because he did introduce himself to you on a personal level earlier on. His eyes locked onto yours.
Beleth : Just be careful next time...
In regards of mockery towards you such as "Teacher's Pet"..He gave you advice..As no student has that right, but you who he favored. You nodded with a sniffle as he dabbed away your tears with a tissue.
This stemmed from a RP with a close friend and I. A human falling for a dryad was common, but it did make cute for a pairing and a romance. The naughties will come soon!
The RP was dubbed Hot For Teacher. I think I'm gonna run with this 🍎

"Now How Come I've Only Found Out About This Now?" [G.W]
[Pairing:] George Weasley x Fem!Artist!Reader
[Summary:] So far, George Weasley knows three things about his new potions partner; So why not make it four? Or five?
[Warnings:] use of mudblood, a bit of angst, a bit of swearing, a pov change at some point in the end, idk-- fluff?? (is that a warning??)
[Word Count:] ≈2.7k
[A/N:] i used @buckystrenchcoat 's fluff plots for george weasley: 2. George finding out you can draw (kind of got carried away but oh well :D--) (ps just imagine that classes in hogwarts includes all of the houses together, thanks <3) Y/H = your house. (dk the timeline or what year george and the reader are in but i'd say between 3rd-5th year)
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
The Weasley twins were becoming reckless and apparently, Professor Snape has had enough. The constant explosions on the other side of the dungeon and the numerous attempts at drowning his hair with shampoo has eventually led him to the decision of assigning the entire class their partners.
Thus halfway into the semester, the Weasley twins are never to be seen together again... that is until the end of 2nd period where they will go back and cause mischief elsewhere.
Fred was assigned to a Slytherin girl who George couldn't figure out if she's madly in love with his brother or wants to rip out his guts. While he on the other hand was assigned with Y/N. Truthfully, he never gave much thought to her, but after their first double potions lesson as partners, he began to wonder why he never gave much thought to her.
She was smart but never overbearing, made jokes here and there, sniggered when he made even the cheesiest of puns, and is wicked attractive. Their first task was to brew a calming draught and whilst adding in a smidge more of lavender, she proposed that they should make more while the majority of the class was still struggling.
"Why in Merlin's beard are we going to make more? We can just pass this and leave class early?" He asked, bringing a smile to her lips. "Yeah, yeah, that's what you want, don't you Weasley?" She quipped, looking back up to the red-headed boy who's now readying their vials.
"Just thought that we could make some for people, like, your brother. Poor guy, reckon he's going to rip his hair out getting partnered with Tuttle." And with that, George let out a laugh, a laugh that cost Gryffindor 5 points. Though, all was well when they were the first to finish and send their little vial of calming draught into the hands of Severus Snape, garnering 5 points each and an opportunity to leave class 10 minutes early.
And that was it, that was their relationship; potions partners.
George Weasley learned 2 things that day. One, his potions partner was someone he wanted to know more, to be with more, and two, one should never put a liberal amount of peppermint in a calming draught. (Fred learned that the hard way.)
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
She was the epitome of beauty and brains. So far, that's what he knew about his potions partner. But a little incident in the corridor made two into three.
It wasn't unusual for Fred and George Weasley to skip class, especially if the class was History of Magic. And it also wasn't unusual for them to hide behind a tapestry whilst a stinky dungbomb was set in the first-floor corridor.
What was unusual though, was George not wanting to move from their hiding place, forcing Fred to also not move. "George, mate, wha-?" "SHH!"
Whatever Fred's question was supposed to be, it quickly got answered by the presence of a certain someone whose walking to the Muggle Studies classroom, his brother's potions partner perhaps? Fred grinned mischievously, nudging his brother in the abdomen, and earning a wince.
"Oi mudblood! Was that you?" They heard from a distance, heavy footsteps following the girl he's teasing his brother with. From their point of view, they could tell that the girl stopped in her tracks, sighing heavily as though this was a regular thing.
"Was that me, what?" She asked, clearly annoyed. "Was that you who did it? Or d'you just shat yourself? It smells horrid. Would make sense, as you're a filthy little mudblood."
George's blood was beginning to boil, fingers formed into a fist, knuckles white. Especially when they got to see the silhouette of the two arguing. Perfect, Winnifred Tuttle, his brother's potions partner bullying his Y/N Y/L/N. He had an urge to protect her. To avenge her. To show her how much he cared for someone who's supposed to be his potions partner.
"Was that supposed to be an insult, Tutts?" Y/N spat back, pulling George out of his trance and making Fred shut his mouth. Now he's the one staring intently. "It's honestly just sad. A 'pureblood' like you should know the difference between a dungbomb and a piece of shit. Or perhaps you're probably just that daft?"
The boys were fixated on their conversation now. A hand on their mouths, hopefully covering up their shock even if they're hiding behind a tapestry. George's heart was beating faster now.
"Me? Daft? Well, if I'm daft then why are you taking muggle studies?" Tuttle sneered, an ugly grin splattered across her face.
"Bit hypocritical, isn't it, Winnie? Bye-bye!" She turned her back away from the Slytherin now, walking into the Muggle Studies classroom, holding a few books in one hand and her middle finger in the other.
He knows three things about her now; She's bewitching, she's a whizz, and she's a muggle-born who doesn't take shit.
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
A few more lessons in and one could say that Y/N and George are starting to become friendlier to each other. Acquaintances, sure, but, friendly nonetheless. But the Gryffindor wanted to live up to its name, to its values. He might've just gotten to know a bit about her but he was completely and utterly entranced.
Nothing's going to stop him now.
His right hand held his wand as he stirred the concoction in the cauldron. She, on the other hand, was cutting up the stewed mandrake. The easy silence between them was broken by none other than the lion himself.
"Hey," he called, lifting his gaze from the potion to the girl right next to him. "Hi." She said back.
"So... Today's a Friday, right?"
She looked at him, confused, recounting a particular time in which she looked at a calendar today. "Yeah, I think so."
"And we can go to Hogsmeade after classes?"
"Pretty sure you can, why?"
"Want to go on a date?"
She looked stunned which kind of hurt George's ego but as soon as the slightly parted mouth of hers became a cheerful grin, he felt a whole lot better.
"As long as you stop staring at me and not over mix our potion, then sure, I'll go out with you." She smiled, making George give a shy little grin back before attempting to put all his concentration on the brew. Mind boggled on the way she said 'our potion.'
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
Going to Muggle Studies felt utterly useless now that Y/N's been promised to go on a date right after. But having George by her side, walking her to the class just seemed to be the best part of the day.
He recounted the time when he and Fred hid behind a tapestry and told Y/N all about it, giving a hot feeling to her cheeks. They stopped by the door frame of the classroom, Professor Burbage was waiting inside, pacing around her study as George's hand slyly held Y/N's.
"I'll pick you up later?" He asked with the same shy smirk plastered on his face, cheeks pink and ears flushed. "Yeah. Thanks for walking me here. You shouldn't have." She uttered, heels rising and falling as she bounced on her toes.
"Just making sure that Tuttsy's not going to ruin your day, love." Y/N felt heat rising to her cheeks and ears, as well as an uncontrollable grin. Her heel turned to make her face the concrete walls of the castle, hands covering their face and body slightly swaying from side to side. It was ridiculous, really. Dumb. Very.
"You're adorable when you're flustered."
"Shut up, Weasley." And with that, she pressed a quick kiss to his cheek, leaving him slightly startled, stunned, and very red in the face. "You're adorable when you're flustered." She quipped, walking into the Muggle Studies classroom and taking her seat.
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
Muggle Studies felt oddly slow that day. Usually, it lasted an hour but today it felt like a century. Professor Burbage's talk about electricity and muggle technology went in one ear and out the other.
If you'd ask why Y/N chose a subject she already knew plenty about, her answer would be that she wanted to see things from a different perspective. But truthfully, she just knew that she'd be good at it and it'd be an easy O.
So there she was; A scrap piece of parchment laid on the wooden desk and a pen since Professor Burbage discouraged the use of quills.
Her mind wandered off the moment she sat down on her chair. Feet either bouncing up and down or stuck straight onto the floor, she wouldn't know. What she did remember was her non-dominant hand posing itself as the other one scribbled on the piece parchment.
Her fingers played with the hazy light and the ink added depth. Soon she started sketching other things; The student in front of her, a study of Professor Burbage, a head with a moderately strong jaw and beautiful, short, messy hair. A male side profile with a big nose that has a slight bump on its bridge matching a cheeky grin with dimples. Her hand posed itself once more but this time she wasn't making it look like hers, she was making it look like his. Something she's seen many times before, and guiltily stared at once, twice, more than she could recount.
She was adding in the cluster of freckles when the worst happened; "Miss Y/L/N, still with us?" Professor Burbage stood at the front of the class, standing straight, clearly thinking about her posture. "Miss Y/L/N?"
She felt an elbow nudge her arm, and that was the thing that brought her back into reality. Her head whipped itself to face her seatmate then to her Professor, giving her a funny-looking nervous grin.
"Charm would get you nowhere, Miss Y/L/N. When was the first electricity generator introduced in Britain? And where was it installed?" She has to have something in that brain of hers. It must've been taught sometime when she was in muggle school. "Err-- 1900s something, Surrey--?"
Professor Burbage meekly chuckled, "Nice try. 1881. Godalming, Surrey. A point from Y/H then, I'm sorry."
⭒☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆⭒
George was faithful and stuck to his word. Even being 5 minutes early after asking Professor Grubbly-Plank if he could go to the bathroom and have a wee, saying that the unicorns would definitely mind if he pissed on their trees.
He did not go to the bathroom but instead went straight to the Muggle Studies classroom. Leaning the side of his body onto the wall by the door. Trying his best to peer into the room and find his potions partner and soon to be his date and maybe even his. But he was getting ahead of himself.
The bell rang and he heard a loud shuffling sound of chairs being pulled back. The door was opened as students from all of the houses started pouring out and there she was. Looking beautiful as ever with her bag slung on her shoulder.
"Glad to see you're alright there, dove." He cooed, earning once again another shy smile. "Anything happened there?" He asked, pointing to the now open classroom.
"Felt way longer than usual, and I lost a house point." She said matter of factly. George chuckled, his heart filled with pride as he turned his head towards her.
"And what have you done to lose said house point?"
She smiled before reaching her hand into a pocket of her robes, pulling out a folded piece of aged parchment before handing it to the curious redhead.
"What's this? A love letter?" He bantered. "Just open it." And so he did. His nimble fingers unfolding the parchment, then he was stunned. Seeing his face drawn in ink with lines crossing over more lines was the last thing he expected. It looked like him. And it didn't look like Fred. It is him.
"I was just drawing in class but then I sort of blanked out and got a dumb question wrong." She paused, looking back up to see if the redhead was still listening. "Hello? Earth to George?"
"You drew me?" He was on a fine line of disbelief and awe. It truly looked amazing. She drew her hand at least three times before he recognized his was also there. She even got the little freckle he had on the middle of his wrist. The full body of ol' Professor Burbage brought so much of her energy and even the way her scarf wrapped around her neck was perfect.
Her cheeks were heating up again, realizing what she just did. "It's not that good. Just-- drew what I saw and, err-- whatever came to mind, I guess." Bad execution, sloppy excuse. "Okay, you've been looking at that for way too long now--"
"This looks bloody brilliant! Now how come I've only found out about this now?"
"Flattery would get you nowhere, Weasley." She joked, but he was serious.
"S'not 'flattery' if I'm stating what's true! It's amazing, you're amazing." She felt her heartbeat increase by a mile.
"Well then, I'm flattered." She said, adjusting the strap of her bag to hopefully let out some adrenaline. "And to answer your question, it'd be terrifying if I just started drawing in Snape's class. I swear that man has eyes at the back of his head. That's why this is a new discovery for you."
"Fuck, this is amazing!" He uttered.
"It's really not that good--"
"'S'really not that good' Some shit standards you have there. I'd put this in a museum!" He said loudly, extending both his arms and imagining that the piece of parchment was displayed on the Hogwarts walls. "If you don't like it then I'll keep it." George joked, expecting disapproval, which, to his shock, never came.
"Are you actually giving this to me?"
She shrugged, "I mean if you'd like a photo of you drawn by a teenage girl then be my guest." He smiled, genuinely smiled. He looked so pretty at that moment and there shouldn't be any holding back now.
"...But," She started, his gaze looked intently at her, ready to listen to whatever comes next. "There's a price."
"Between Freddie and I, we have 26 galleons and a few sickles." He said, earning a hearty laugh and a shake of her head. "Don't really think he'd like me to give all of it to you, I'm sorry. If you want I'd pay a bit then I--"
"No, George." She said, tugging lightly on his tie to gain his attention. "How about... a kiss? Perhaps?"
He grinned. His hand hovered itself across her face before landing on her cheek, thumb gracing itself on its apples, slightly squishing the skin whilst his eyes looked for any signs of discomfort; there was none.
They slowly leaned in, eyes locked on lips before their lips locked onto each other. His lips were slightly chapped but it felt like the softest thing on Earth. He smelled of cinnamon, firewood, gunpowder, and other indescribable scents, but it was nice. It was short but meaningful, gentle, even. His other hand was wrapped around her waist and once again, his thumbs were running up and down whatever part of her body it's laid on.
He learned two more things about the girl that day; she's artistic, and she felt like home.
He never thought there'd be a time in his life where he'd be thankful for Severus Snape. But life goes in unexpected ways.
"If you'd like to tip me then I'm just going to say that I love cauldron cakes." She grinned up at him as they pulled away before settling her face in his chest. George chuckled to himself before wrapping his arms completely on her waist, placing a sweet kiss on the top of her head.
"Yeah, yeah, come on." He said, pulling away to let her shake herself up as he held onto the piece of folded parchment which graced his face, giving it a small peck before putting it in his pocket, patting it three times.
"Better sign that drawing for me, Y/N. How much does an autograph cost?"
"Double the original price—?"
"And the tip?"
"And the tip."

Lmao Levi being irritated because reader, his roomate, who he still hasn't confessed to yet, gets a cat.
The cat hates Levi but loves reader and reader loves the cat too and it's basically Levi vs the cat someone help
note :: very rushed and not proofread i only wrote for fun because once again i am bed ridden with sickness ha ha the perks of always being sick i suppose T__T
lord, does levi despise the way you act without thinking sometimes
he’s legitimately appalled at how you can manage to always do shit like this
even more appalled at how he lets you get away with it every time
now, what is the shit you have done this time?
brought a cat home a CAT
first things first, you are allergic to cats so he does not understand how that predicament will fix itself
secondly, cats shed EVERYWHERE
as much as he enjoys cleaning he is not going to clean that up every day
thirdly, cats will ruin furniture and claw at it
as well as the curtains!!!!
and levi loves the curtains in the living room because the both of you picked them out together
though it was a struggle to get you interested enough to pick a pair you liked.
maybe that’s why he’s looking at you irked by this all
you’re holding the kitten in your arms playing around with her
“peek... a... boo!”
playing fucking peek-a-boo with a cat? he questions himself in his head
“y/n. we are not keeping the cat.”
at this you innocently look up at him through your lashes
god, there you go again doing that
he doesn’t know if you’re aware of the impact you have on him when you do that
he’s good at holding his composure but that look ignites something in him
but he always has to push that something down his throat
“c’mon, you’d be the best roomie ever if you let me keep her!”
his eyes narrow at the word roomie
is that all he is to you?? a roomie???
you’re holding the cat up alongside your face and are fake pouting
“you. are. allergic. to. cats.” he punctuates every word clearly
“how do you know that?” you ask reasonably shocked he knows something that obscure and random about you
“you like talking about yourself when you’re drunk.”
a memory of him helping you throw up whilst he carefully holds your hair out of your face flashes past
if it were anyone else he wouldn’t have got anywhere near them if they were throwing up
but it was you,
it was always you.
“you rambled on and on and on about wanting a cat as a kid but not getting one because of your allergies.”
“so you would also know-” the cat tries to scratch your arm and you retract giggling
“that i really want a cat!”
“does that change your allergies? poof oh wow y/n you’re no longer allergic to shitty cats because you want one.”
you roll your eyes at his deadpan expression and pessimism
“if you knew anything about cats you would know this is a cornish rex” you now rebuttal
“a fucking what?”
“hypoallergenic cat breed! my allergies to cats are mild so it’s the perfect cat for me”
the crease between his eyebrow deepens.
“do you forget that we live in this apartment together?”
you scrunch your nose looking at your little buddy who has now settled in your lap “how could i forget that?”
he knows you see him as nothing more than a roommate
levi loves you he does but you don’t know that
but part of him thinks you do because you always give him that look when you want something
you’re doing it again.
the look.
“fuck. fine but if that thing coughs up a hair ball she’s out.”
“AAAHH THANK YOU I LOVE YOU LEVI!!!!” you’re ecstatic
his breath traps itself in his throat when he hears that
how can you carelessly say i love you??
you’re happily looking between him and the cat and hand her over to levi
“hold her you’re the dad”
“so you’re the...?” he asks
“i’m the...???” you’re clueless
he shakes his head waving it off
it takes you a moment to understand what he’s asking then your eyes widen
“ohhh the mum? yeah that would be me”
it’s so stupid, so stupid, so so so stupid he repeats it in his head the whole scenario is stupid
but it doesn't stop him from smiling like an idiot
in recent days you’ve given her the names diana, garfield and casper
sadly, none of then seem to stick because you’re too indecisive
it’s got to the point where you barge into levi’s room without asking
you’re in your pyjamas he looks at you confused as to why you’ve walked in with no permission at 2am
in a cucumber face mask...?
“name the cat please, name the cat i can’t stick to a name i’m going to rip my hair out“ you’re gripping at your hair groaning in frustration.
“edgar’
first suggestion, too ugly.
you shake your head
“candy“
second suggestion, no, just no.
you shake your head again in refusal
“zero?“
yeah, no.
another shake of the head
levi ponders and thinks hard “...angel?’
you blush, jump back and look more than startled
fumbling with your fingers awkwardly you edge closer towards the door
he just eyes you weirdly wondering what causes that reaction
well, you must like the name
“is it good enough?” he asks
you’re speechless not knowing what to actually say
“y/n...????”
you snap out of it
“isn’t that something you’d call a significant other not a cat?”
and for once in your life you actually seem kinda annoyed at him
“your cat is an angel in your eyes that’s the point” he’s explaining his point but you aren’t listening
you don’t know why levi saying that word makes your heart race
that’s why you’re annoyed right now
in fact it’s not that you’re annoyed. you’re scared that it triggers this response because this is levi.
levi, your roommate the same roommate who argues about pizza toppings with you. he’s nothing more than that.
but your cheeks continue to flush behind the cucumber face mask
“i’ll ask someone else what to name him just call him salad for now” without letting him get a word in you leave but somehow you forget the cat
salad turns to levi and gives him what can only be described as a menacing look.
“you happy you annoying shit? y/n’s annoyed because i can’t name you”
your cat jumps at him and tries to scratch at a piece of flesh but is held off easily
one cold look from levi and she stops.
“get out my room you pest.” he says as he places the cat on the floor
salad scurries away and levi rolls his eyes
he hates that cat he really does
a few hours pass levi is still up he’s always found it hard to sleep
it’s been a long day he’s just finished a thesis for his physics degree and stretches out contently
to say he’s tired is an understatement but his throat is dry and he needs to DESPERATELY hydrate
he gets to his feet and ventures into the kitchen to retrieve some water then he’ll knock out like a log and fall asleep.
the pitch of your snoring can be heard and he smiles to himself silently.
it’s all good, he’s sure you’re getting all the sleep you need.
“GRRRE”
there it is,
the little fucker, your cat is still up.
“what is it little shit?” levi asks leaned up against the surface of the counter.
salad is only staring at him blankly before turning to look over at the living room.
it’s dim the lights are switched off but levi feels something is feels off
“the hell did you do?” he asks
but salad shows no signs of breaking and revealing what it is she’s done
levi’s going to have to investigate
stepping towards the living room he flicks the lights open.
eyes survey the entire area everything looks good until he sees the way the drapes have been ripped apart
salad is picked up in one swoop she sees how levi is about to throw her out the front door and panics
meowing and struggling just in the nick of time she jumps before running away and slipping into the safety of your bedroom
groaning levi goes back to the living room to see if he’s missed anything.
well, god damn him.
scratches litter the leather furniture, it almost looks like a crossword.
salad has also conveniently taken a shit behind the sofa,
and to top it all off she’s left a dead mouse in the middle of the living room floor
levi. is. infuriated.
“you should thank her for catching the mouse”
you’re hurriedly eating some toast levi has made for you as you brush your hair out and gather it into a low ponytail
“look at the drapes y/n??” he’s exasperated and trying to make sense of your logic
“i didn’t like the drapes anyway we needed new ones.”
you aren’t taking this seriously at all and it’s getting on his nerves now
he runs a hand through his hair and glares at you “i told you taking the cat in was a bad idea”
your hair tie snaps and so do you
all the doubts from yesterday are eating you away. the question still lingers in your mind - how do you really feel about levi?
“do you have to have an opinion on everything i do? you’re my roommate not my boyfriend.”
it’s your fault for letting your anger and stress get the better of you. to be frank you have no clue why you’ve gone and said that.
if you’re honest with yourself you know he’s not a roommate. he’s not a friend either but at the same time he’s definitely not a boyfriend.
he’s more than a friend to you but you don’t think he sees you similarly.
oh how wrong you are
“roommate?”
levi’s question is filled with not an ounce of humour, the both of you know that.
oddly, he sounds displeased,
but you can’t take it back now.
and you hate backing down
“what?” you scoff
he shakes his head and makes his way to the front door not turning to look at you.
“get a grip on that cat otherwise i’m throwing it out”
SLAM!
you’ve done it, you’ve messed it up.
salad jumps up on the counter and licks your toast
maybe, he is right about the cat.
the rest of the week is incredibly busy you have an important economics presentation due today and you’ve done everything you need to prepare for it.
at least that’s what you think,
you’re stood in front of the class introducing yourself and everything seems to be going smoothly
price determination within the economic market might as well be advertised as a sleeping pill because you don’t know how you can get anyone interested enough to keep their eyes open.
but putting your best foot forward an attempt is still made.
“the buyers and sellers accept this price, and buy and sell accordin-”
you’re abruptly cut off by your professor who coughs and then proceeds to leer at you in disgust.
a few moments of silence pass and you can feel your heart hammer in your chest.
suddenly he points at the door,
he’s known for being harsh, strict and a stingy marker but it’s not as if you’ve shown up with nothing done...?
in fact this is the largest amount of effort you’ve put into your economics course since you’ve started it.
being in your usual seasonal slump has held you back but now you’re actually trying he’s saying it’s not good enough?
“your presentation. it’s awful. not enough effort put into it, leave for today.” his voice is rumbling and intimidating.
you’re stunned, you’ve worked tirelessly day and night to finish this off.
you’ve even had to cry over not knowing or understanding how to make pie charts.
interpreting data has never been your strong suit.
too embarrassed to ask for help you had to spend hours figuring out how to make it all work alongside your excel chart and spreadsheet
sighing heavily you speak up “professor i’ve spent a lot of time on this?”
“i looked through the slides. dog shit.” his response is fiery and you shudder at the boiling frustration he’s shooting right at you.
arguing in front of the lecture hall is not what you wish to do and you’re sure you aren’t going to be the only person sent out this way.
just retreat y/n
you do.
the professor is clearly in a bad mood and taking it out on you, there’s nothing you can do about it.
wordlessly you gather your belongings and leave.
as you trudge back home the feeling of not being good enough sinks in your stomach like a heavy anchor at sea.
entering through the front door is a task and a half through your glossed over eyes but somehow you manage
you’ve kept salad in your room for most of the time after your argument and she seems to actually miss levi’s presence.
so when the first thing you see as soon as you enter is salad clawing at his bedroom door begging to be let in you aren’t surprised.
thankfully for you he’s yet to return from class and hasn’t been disturbed by the sounds.
at least that’s what you assume.
you look at salad and start sobbing
you wish you were a cat.
cats don’t get shit on for fucking up economics presentations that’s for sure.
shaking you try to hold yourself up against one of the walls
frankly, school stress is getting to you.
you tried hard on that presentation only for it to fail when it was worth a quarter of your grade.
A QUARTER...
TWENTY FIVE PERCENT...
salad nuzzles herself against your leg and you lean over to pick her up
she licks at your ear, it tickles and you laugh in between sobs
“you sure are good at comforting people huh?” you’re so worn out your laugh sounds half dead.
it’s all so pathetic. you standing in your living room wailing as you hold your pet cat like a baby.
but she doesn’t mind and let’s you cry to your hearts content.
“MEOW” salad loudly squeaks and you stroke her back but she only keeps at it “MEOWWWW.”
sensing that she’s bringing something to your attention you turn around
there stands levi awkwardly waving at you and you instinctually cover your face with your arm.
the smudged mascara is none of his business.
“wanna order pizza and talk about it?”
pursing your lips at the proposition you slowly lower your arm and scratch at the sleeve of your shirt.
"yeah, i’d love that.”
“KICKED YOU OUT THE LECTURE HALL?? YOU WORKED ON THAT FOR DAYS Y/N, DAYS??”
levi is beyond pissed he hasn’t even touched the second slice of his pizza after hearing how your presentation played out.
“it’s okay, it was probably going to go bad i can’t do anything right.”
levi’s silver eyes fog up in annoyance and you shut yourself up.
“you are the most able person i have met.”
head rocking up in surprise the confession is news to you.
“really?“
“you’re great at making pad thai, somehow you convinced me to keep that cat, i remember that other time you convinced a first year to bungee jump off a building for last years charity fundraiser.”
it truly is endearing how he doesn’t call you smart or witty or hard-working. none of that basic nonsense you’ve heard time and time again from everyone else.
the fact he’s naming the most random things makes your heart swell.
you burst into laughter remembering the first year’s quivering form and you wonder why levi even remembers that.
“if salad bothers you that much i could find a friend to look after her.”
levi looks at you like he’s just come face to face with a ghost.
“no? i like her, she might frustrate me and get in the way when i want to-” he stops himself fumbling over his sentence.
“when you want to?“ you’re leaning in closer intrigued what the rest of the sentence is.
shock flashes over his face but the next second it disappears.
taking a gulp of his water seemingly in preparation he looks you right in the eye.
“when i want to kiss you.”
and that’s all it takes for you to tug him by the shirt and slam his lips against yours, you giggle into the kiss as you situate yourself in his lap. hands ghosting over your hips he’s disoriented not sure where to place his palms but you don’t care. you’ve been waiting for this and despite his sloppy response the fact you’re finally doing what you’ve been fearing the most these past few weeks is only filling you with adrenaline.
“settle down.” he’s panting heavy and ragged. “i was meant to initiate it and look cool what the fuck??” he’s not mad, he’s just playing with you but that doesn’t stop you from getting into the role.
“and if i don’t settle?” you mischievously ask, levi’s hands are cupping your jaw he pushes your hair out of your face and simply gazes in awe.
he makes you feel so beautiful, it’s unreal.
“meow...” salad’s dissatisfied whining can be heard and then out of nowhere in one fluid motion she jumps onto levi’s chest.
“salad if you don’t mind i’m trying to make out with your dad.” you explain with a frown.
she doesn’t budge and instead a trickling sound can be heard, then a foul smell floats into the room and levi screams.
“Y/N THE LITTLE SHIT IS PEEING ON ME???”

“Look who it is!”
Julie feels a grin pull up on the corners of her mouth as she spots Luke’s station captain coming around the end of one of the fire trucks Julie is walking between, sending her a wave of the clipboard she’s holding. “You’re here early.”
“Yeah, class ended early and I thought I'd pop over to see if I could get some extra time with Luke,” Julie shrugs, holding up the pale grey burlap bag that Alex had packed their food into.
And there’s a sympathetic look that crosses over Harrison’s face, because she knows that the younger woman knows she’s in charge of Luke’s shifts and the reason why Julie comes over every Tuesday to have lunch with her boyfriend.
Because that’s why she was here. To have lunch with him like she did every Tuesday between her classes and when the fires of LA would allow. Sometimes Alex would text her to stop by to pick up a packed lunch for them, sometimes she made something herself, sometimes they just ordered in. The food wasn’t really the point, it was just getting to spend some time together. Julie had never really thought about it before, but there was always something, someone, somewhere, trapped or hurt or on fire. Luke was a very busy person, and it meant sometimes their lunches got interrupted by blaring alarms and him pressing a quick kiss to her lips before rushing off.
Tuesdays were apparently very busy days for a firefighter.
“What’s the master chef prepared for you this week then?” Harrison asks, crossing her arms and clipboard across her chest and lifting one brow, “Y’know Alex used to cook for us, he’d send Luke in every Saturday he was on shift with all sorts of goodies.”
Julie bites her lip to try not to laugh at the exaggerated sigh that leaves the older woman's lips as she shakes her head sadly. There was something about Vivian Harrison that just— put people at ease. The first time Julie had officially met her there had been a warm hug and teasing remarks and there was just something that had viscerally reminding Julie of her aunt Victoria that it was kind of impossible not to like the station captain after that.
“He was pretty busy so it’s just some sandwiches,” she wrinkles her nose a little before smiling, “I’ll tell him how much you’re missing his cooking though, I’m sure the blame will fall completely on Luke.”
Harrison laughs, and tilts her head slightly as she shrugs, “That boy of yours is just very easy to blame.”
She feels a sudden flush to her cheeks at ‘that boy of yours’ that she hopes can be played off by how warm it always is in the station. She can see Harrison’s lips twitching, like she’s about to say something teasing, but Julie is saved from it by two people walking past them and a change of mind.
“Morales, can you tell Patterson his lunch is here.”
“Sure thing Cap,” one of the guys says, shooting her a wide smile that Julie feels compelled to return quickly before he’s rushing off, past the fire engines and up some stairs. And Julie’s about to ask Harrison if they’ve been busy today and if she’d found time to visit the farmers market they’d talked about last time, but another voice interrupts, and Julie hadn’t even realised the other guy hadn’t followed his friend.
“So you’re Patterson’s girl, right?” The blonde asks, eyes scanning her up and down in a way that makes her want to hide behind someone. There’s something vaguely familiar about him, probably because she’s seen him in passing for the last couple of months but never talked to him. Which wouldn’t have been weird if most of the other people in the station hadn’t introduced themselves the first time Luke had invited her to one of their station parties, and made an effort to talk to her whenever she'd stopped by since.
“Yeah, I’m Julie,” she smiles politely, trying to put emphasis on her name. She doesn't mind being known as Luke's girl by people at the station who have actually made an effort to get to know her.
“Right, right, nice to meet you Julie. I’m Nick, I’m sure Luke’s mentioned me,” he grins, teeth showing and shoulders pulling back like he’s expecting her to — what? Clap? A small furrow works its way between her brows as Nick starts up a conversation without even waiting for her response and she suddenly understands what Luke means about him. Because he has mentioned the condescending, stereotypical blonde frat boy before, and never in a good way. It was mostly followed by some very creative swear words and a mumbled ‘he’s going to get either himself or one of us really hurt one day’.
She tries to follow along with the conversation, nodding politely and laughing whenever Harrison forces one out, but Nick only seems interested in talking about himself, and normally she can feign interest, but right now all she wants is to talk to one person in particular.
There’s the sound of too many voices heading in their direction and Julie turns around, eyes searching for one person, but all she’s met with is a collection of firefighters she vaguely knows and tries not to let her disappointment show too clearly on her face.
“Wow Molina, don’t look so excited to see us!” An elbow nudges her side and Julie glances up to see Carrie Wilson has appeared in the place that Nick had just stood, eyebrows raised and a blinding smile as the other blonde frowns from behind her, still trying to carry on his conversation.
“No! I am glad to see you all it’s just—” Julie starts, eyes a little wide as she looks at the other girl because Carrie had only ever been nice to her, but Luke had a lot of stories about the blonde being ruthless and rude to people she was mildly inconvenienced by.
(One of Luke’s favourite stories was about Carrie loudly telling some girl that Nick was flirting with how he had used the same lines on her two months before. Luke told it every chance he could get, sparing no details on the look of horror that has taken over Nick’s face.)
“You’re here for Patterson,” Carrie cuts her off with a wink, elbow nudging her lightly again, “Don’t worry, we all know. He should be down soon.” There’s something about how she says it that raises more questions than answers for Julie, furrow between her brows and mouth opening to comment when Carrie just nods her head behind her, and Julie turns around to spot Luke.
It’s impossible, Julie knows it’s impossible, but she could swear time slows down. Like she’s in some rom-com movie where the main character sees their love interest for the first time.
Only she’s not in a film, she’s stood next to a fire engine and trying to care about what the people around her are talking about and it’s far from the first time she’s seen the love interest. But the world still feels like it’s in slow motion all the same as she looks up as Luke calls her name from the second floor, grinning at her from over the banister and holding up one hand in that universal signal for ‘wait’.
And Julie waits, not that she could really do anything else with the firehouse blurring at the edges and Nick's voice fading into the background. Focus entirely on Luke.
She’s never seen someone slide down the pole before, didn’t even know that they still used them in firehouses, but Julie’s pretty sure it shouldn’t be as hot as it is. Though, she supposes, it could just be Luke. His hand wraps around the metal and Julie swallows as her eyes are drawn to his arms, to where his top pulls tight and his forearms are on show. If this was a film, there’d be some stereotypical song about sex playing in the background right about now. All her slightly hazy brain can supply is the chorus to Lady Marmalade on repeat. His legs wrapped around the pole, ankles crossed and thighs pressed together, comes into view as he slides down the metal, all cool and in control, and Julie's throat goes dry.
She knows how much strength it takes to slide down a pole. Her and Flynn had taken a few pole dancing classes a few years ago in an attempt to add some sort of exercise into their day. Julie can still remember how much her arms ached and the bruises that littered the insides of her thighs after even the simplest of moves.
It was hard, and Luke was making it look so easy.
His feet hit the ground, and even though she’s too far away to actually hear it, she’s pretty sure they must make some sort of thudding sound. Because that’s what happens, right? You slide down the pole and your feet hit the floor with a thud that shows you’re ready for action. Only Luke isn’t going off to put on his uniform and fight a fire or save a life.
He’s walking towards her, suspenders swaying and smile widening and eyes never leaving her face.
And look, she knows that she’s seen Luke fully naked, fresh out of a shower or panting on his back. But seeing him slide down that fucking pole in his white t-shirt, suspenders by his knees and hair a mess? Hottest thing she has ever seen. And he knows it if the way his teeth sink into his bottom lip as he gets closer is anything to go by.
“How long did it take you to practice all that, Patterson?” Carrie asks, and Julie can hear the teasing tone in her voice and would normally enjoy seeing Luke stammer and blush, but right now she’s the one feeling too warm and is pretty sure if she started speaking right now all that would come out would be a high pitched noise.
“About the same amount of time it takes you to do your hair,” is his easy reply and Julie watches as Carrie rolls her eyes, hair flipping over her shoulder, and because he’s momentarily not looking at her, Julie tries to pull her thoughts together. To get a hold of herself. This is not the first time she has seen him in his uniform, she has seen in him in far less, and she will not turn into a blushing mess right now!
“Alright you lot, back to work!” Harrison interrupts before anyone can say anything else, and everyone starts walking away, some nudging Luke as they go, some giving her a wave, and she thinks she must smile back, at least she hopes she does. Her brain is still very much focused on Luke and how his thighs probably looked coming down that pole without the heavy duty trousers. “You tell Alex I’m still a fan of the flapjack he makes,” Harrison says as she walks past, dropping an eye into a wink and giving Luke a look she doesn’t understand.
A tense smile pulls at Julie’s lips that she hopes comes across as genuine and not just her unable to speak because of her incredibly hot and infuriatingly knows it boyfriend.
“You alright, Jules? Looking a little flushed, need me to get one of the EMT’s?” Luke asks, all innocence and anything but subtle as he rocks back and forth on the balls of his feet, teeth still chewing on his damn lip.
“Just—” she clears her throat, trying to glare up at him, but already knowing it’s ruined by the heat in her cheeks and how she can’t stop staring at his arms. God, she hasn’t been this distracted by his arms since their first date. Blowing out a breath, Julie drags her eyes away from where his arms are crossed across his chest — which, she’s like, 80% sure he’s doing on purpose right now, the little shit — and up to his face just as he raises an eyebrow at her.
“It’s just a little warm,” she finally manages to get out, raising her hand that’s clutching the reusable grocery bag too tight, “Alex sent me with lunch.”
Luke’s eyes light up at the mention of Alex and food, hands dropping from his chest to eagerly reach for the bag and Julie can’t help but giggle at how quickly he can switch from cocky to cute.
“Swee-et! Alex is best,” he grins down at her, drawing out the first syllable of the word and bobbing his head at her. “You wanna eat outside?”
Julie doesn’t respond, just nods her head and links her fingers through his empty hand, letting Luke lead her out of the fire station and to the little grassy area outside. There’s already a blanket on the ground, two bottles of water and a warmth spreads through her for a different reason as Luke pulls her down to the ground and spreads out the food Alex has given them.
They get an hour.
An hour to eat lunch and curl up together to talk and giggle and try to keep their hands visible at all times. It’s both her favourite and the most tortuous hour of her week so far. And Luke’s just leaning in to whisper something in her ear, his breath against her cheek sending shivers down her spine when the alarm starts blaring from inside and his head drops to her shoulder with a sigh that mingles with her own groan.
“I gotta go,” he mutters into the fabric of her t-shirt, and she can imagine how his lips would feel brushing against her skin if they were somewhere else right now.
“I know,” she sighs and carefully moves her shoulder so he has to lift his head up, eyes apologetic as they meet hers. “Be careful?”
“Always am,” Luke smiles gently at her and then he’s getting up and leaving her on the blanket and feeling the loss. Julie watches him go, knees pulled up to her chest and blowing him a kiss when he turns around to wave one last time like he always does when the alarm inevitably ends their lunch date early.
Which normally Julie was fine with.
He was at work. He had a job. He had an important job.
Running out in the middle of lunch was fine. And it would have been fine today, if he hadn’t slid down that damn pole and filled her head with all sorts of ideas and left her fidgeting in her seat. It doesn’t help that Luke clearly knows, if the way he presses a kiss to her forehead and mutters a sorry, eyes a little wide and promises to see her later.
Which is all well and good, but Julie can’t help but feel like he did it on purpose and wonders if there’s a way for her to make him feel just as flustered as she had an hour earlier.
//
It takes her a while to form a plan of revenge, and then it takes a while longer for her to gather all the things she needs. And okay, maybe at some point she forgets why she’s doing all this, and then Luke mentions the pole at the station and how it makes his muscles ache sometimes as he says he’s going for a shower and Julie remembers the sight of him coming down and redoubles her planning.
The hard part comes when she has to pick a day. Because she can’t lure him to her house, not while her dad is working odd hours and her brother is home and Victoria still has a tendency to show up unannounced. Which leaves finding a time when his apartment is empty.
Not an easy feat when Reggie works from home part time, and can’t actually be trusted to stick to his word when he says he’ll be out and Alex has a weekend routine he’s hard pressed to change and likes to get home from work and relax. Plus she has to check when Luke isn’t working on a weekend, which turns out to be the easiest part, because it turns out Harrison really likes her and was happy to schedule Luke a weekend off when she asked.
Sure, she could have enacted her plan while one or both of them were home too but, well Julie knows the boys are all very close, and she knows that they’ve accepted her into the closeness with welcome arms. But she’s not sure she wants to have sex while they’re eating leftover lasagna down the hall. Feels a little too close for her liking. Plus, she has a plan that might end up involving their bath and she’s not sure they’d want to be there for that.
So Julie bides her time. Changes her mind on what clothes she wants and practices different poses on her bed at night and drops little hints about a weekend alone together.
Alex makes plans first, announces that he’s going with Willie to an out of state kids skateboarding competition to help cheer on Willie’s little proteges. He makes a big deal out telling them all the dates and how they had plans to go to some couples spa on their way back and how his restaurant would be ‘more than happy to supply any meals for two that you two might want’.
It had gone over Luke’s head, just nodding and asking about the competition. But Julie had gotten the hint.
And then a few days later Reggie said he had ‘big plans’ with her dad and brother of all people. He’d said it one afternoon when she’d stopped by to see Luke before his week of night shifts, how they were going to go camping so her dad could take some photos for a project and Reggie could teach Carlos to fish, and then he’d dropped his eye in a dramatic wink when she’d asked if that was the same weekend Alex was also away.
(Julie knew that she probably should have found it a little weird how often Reggie seemed to talk and hang out with her family, but the first time she’d gotten home to find him sitting at the dining room table, helping her dad edit photos and offering to order pizza, had felt strangely right.
Like he had always been a part of their family.
Luke had asked her once, a few weeks after they first started dating if it was okay. If she didn’t mind that Reggie had seemed to attach himself to her family. He never explicitly said anything, but she’d known him long enough by then to see the hints, the secrets she wasn’t aware of yet. Of lonely childhoods and something lacking. The hints that he’d found that with her family. And even if she hadn’t been fine with it already, she wasn’t about to stop Reggie. The Molina’s had never been shy about taking in lost souls.)
So apparently she hadn’t been quite as subtle as she thought she’d been with her hints. Both boys clearly conspiring to get her a weekend alone with their best friend. Julie’s just glad that Luke clearly hasn’t noticed. Or if he hadn’t, hadn’t teased her about it.
And that their apartment is empty when she uses her key to let herself in on Friday evening, Hotdog already waiting by the shoes for Luke, head tilted as she looks up mewling softly in disappointment.
“Sorry sweetie, he’ll be home soon though,” Julie mummers, bending down to scratch behind the cat's ears before stepping out of her shoes, which Hotdog happily moves to sit on top of instead. “Be sure to make a big fuss when he gets in so I know, alright?”
Hotdog doesn’t respond, just fixes her eyes back on the front door to wait for Luke, and Julie moves further into the apartment, laughing quietly at the plate of brownies Alex or Willie have clearly left out for them on the counter, blushing slight as she reads the short message scrawled on a post-it note,
‘Don’t mess up my kitchen ;)’
She tries not to let herself think too hard or long about how clearly they all knew about her grand plans for the night. And the next day, and hopefully the whole weekend if things went according to plan.
Picking up the plate on her way through the kitchen, Julie shrugs out of her coat to leave on the back of one of the kitchen stools, because if Luke missed her shoes in the hall, he won't miss this, and she’s really hoping he’ll get the hint to head towards his bedroom. By the time she’s made it to Luke’s room she’s lifted the cellophane off the plate and taken a bite from one of the brownies. Definitely Willie who’d baked them, he was always doubling up the chocolate content. Where Alex was experimental in the kitchen, Willie was a traditionalist who believed chocolate was the best way to set a mood. Julie couldn’t really fault his logic as she moves into Luke’s room.
His room looks the same as it had the first time she’d seen it. Only now there’s a bottle of her perfume on his dresser, and some of her clothes on his ‘laundry’ chair, and polaroids of the two of them stuck in the corners of the photo frames of him and the boys. And Julie knows if she thinks about it, that her room at her dad's house is also littered with pieces of him as well, and she knows it’s only been a few months, but it feels like years. Like her life had been full of all these little gaps she’d never noticed until they were filled with Luke.
Putting the plate down, she starts moving around his room. Pulling out the firefighting coat he’d brought home a few weeks ago because he’d found a rip in the shoulder, rooting through his wardrobe for the plain blue cut off she’d seen the last time she was over and laying them out on his bed. Tilting her head, Julie mentally puts together her outfit one more time. Shorts, suspenders, Luke’s cut-off, coat, maybe the shoes? She bites her lip and decides to come back to it, to see how everything looks on.
It’s strange, Julie thinks as she clips one side of her suspenders to her shorts, how nervous she is about this. It’s not like this is the first time they’ll have slept together, but it is the first time she’s done anything like this. Dressed up in something other than a pretty dress for dinner that he’d taken great care of taking off her.
What if he didn’t like it? What if he thought it was weird? What if he got home and was too tired to do anything? He’d been at work all day, after a long week of working, maybe she should change her plans and do it tomorrow night? What if—
She cuts her own thoughts off with a groan, sitting down on the end of Luke’s bed to take a breath and fiddle with knee high sheer socks dotted with little stars that she’d ordered online. Logically, Julie knows that Luke will like this, that he’ll look at her with those eyes of his that can’t hide a single emotion and smile at her slowly and call her beautiful.
Because he’d been complimenting her since their first date, and every day since. Little things and big changes and all the between. He really did seem to like her just as much dressed up and with make-up on as he did when she’d just woken up on a morning with her hair a mess and pillow creases still on her cheeks.
And that in itself was scary.
Because he liked her for her and didn’t need her to change. She’d never really dated anyone before who didn’t want her to be less invested in music or spend less time with her family or who didn’t like Flynn or even one guy who thought she should try a different scent of shampoo. They’d all been relationships littered with red flags, big and small.
But not even Flynn could find a real warning sign about Luke. Maybe he was a little co-dependant on his friends, but neither of them could say anything because they were a little co-dependant too. And maybe he could be a little over enthusiastic, but he also knew when to give her space. He had a stable job and good friends and was cute and lived in a nice area and he had a cat.
And, once upon a time, he had had a similar dream to her.
One of the things Flynn had managed to dig up on him during her ‘background’ check was an old low quality video on youtube of three boys in a garage playing instruments that looked too big for them but taking the whole thing seriously. Voices cracking on the cover of Summer of ‘69 they were playing, but Julie had seen the way they grinned at each other, at the way a younger Luke had bounced around the small space and Reggie had rocked on his feet and Alex had thrown a drumstick in the air and caught it again. They were kids, but they were talented and it's at that moment that Julie realises Luke was right. They could have made it.
She wonders what would have happened if fate hadn’t intervened in the form of a fire. She’s pretty sure Luke has wondered the same thing too. He doesn’t talk about it much and Julie’s never sure how much to push because he seems happy in his life and choices. And plus, if it hadn’t been for a fire in a record store, there’s a chance they wouldn’t have met.
Julie frowns a little at that thought as she rolls on her second sock over her knee and stands up, straightening out her shorts and twisting the side of Luke’s cut off up and tying it into a knot. She’s never been the biggest believer in fate since her mom died but she thinks there’s something a little like fate that’s pulled them together. And she thinks they’d have met with a fire or without a fire, with music or without.
She wrinkles her nose at herself in the mirror at that thought, rolling her eyes at how cheesy it sounds even to herself. Fate and destiny, who did she think she was? They were just two people lucky enough to find each other.
An alarm goes off on her phone to tell her she’s got half an hour before Luke is due home and this is her last chance if she wants to change her mind.
Tilting her head a slightly to the side, Julie takes in her high waisted shorts, red suspenders dangling by her thighs, the way her t-shirt cinches at her waist and reveals just a strip of skin above her shorts where she knows Luke likes to rest his hands when he pulls her close. She’d taken extra care with her curls and all she had to do was apply some lipstick and touch up her eyeliner and she’d be ready.
It’s Flynn’s voice in the back of her head as she tucks curls behind her ears to lean a little closer to her reflection and, as she pulls back, smacking her lips once before letting them rest in a pout, she can’t help but reiterate it, “I do look hot.”
The front door shuts and Julie can hear Hotdog meowing and Luke’s muffled voice down the corridor as she’s pulling his coat over her shoulders. It’s far too big for her, hanging below her knees and she has to roll the sleeves up three times to free her hands, but the collar smells like smoke and metal and Luke and his last name is written across the right hand side and his station across her back.
That was the part that Flynn had said would really get him — his name on her. Luke wasn’t exactly possessive, but she and Flynn had agreed there was just something about it that was A Lot, in a good way. (Unlike buying a pole and installing it in Luke’s room for a weekend, that was A Lot, in a bad way. Her plan had gone through many different phases before settling on this one. Luckily, it was also the cheapest.)
“Jules?” Luke calls and Julie bites her lip as she carefully climbs on to his bed, and kneels in the middle before changing her mind and crawling off the other side to stand next to it instead.
“I’m in here,” she calls back and she hears something dropping to the floor, probably his bag she guesses, and then his footsteps sounding down the hall.
Julie’s glad she opted for the shoes, just simple black heels, but they give her an extra lift and something more for Luke to look at as he opens his bedroom door. She has one knee slightly bent and resting on her toes, coat sleeves hiding the way her hands are balled up at her sides and one shoulder raised a little higher than the other as she tilts her head at him, biting her lip.
He freezes in the doorway, mouth partly open like he’d been about to say something only to get lost somewhere between his brain and vocal chords as his eyes seem to lock on to the coat she’s wearing before traveling down to her bare legs and Julie watches him swallow, adam's apple bobbing. Just as his eyes get back up to her face she moves one hand to tuck her coat behind her hip and hook her thumb under her suspenders in a way she’s seen him do countless times.
And it gets the reaction she wants, his eyes zeroing in on her hand and tracing up the line of red that covers her chest. Luke’s tongue darts out to swipe across his bottom lip as he blinks and finally drags his eyes back up to her face, pupils blown wide and she watches as he lets out a heavy breath.
“Hi,” she breathes out, and almost immediately regrets it. She's trying for sexy but thinks it just comes across as gasping. Which she hopes she’ll be eventually at some point tonight, but would at least like to be touched a little first.
“You—” Luke starts, and his voice is rough like he’s not used it in hours so he swallows again and Julie’s momentarily distracted by the way his throat moves before his speaking again, “Is that my coat?”
“Maybe,” Julie shrugs, turning slightly so she can pull at the collar of the coat to peer down at the name stitched in the fabric, “Oh look, it does say your name. Would you like me to take it off?” She blinks up at him with a soft smile.
Julie doesn’t know if it’s the smile or her words or just everything about the moment, but Luke lets out a low groan and before she can even blink he’s stood in front of her, hands on her hips and fingers brushing against her strip of visible skin, just like she knew he would. And she’s thankful for the heels all over again when it gives her the little extra height that means Luke doesn’t have to bend down quite so far to brush his lips across her cheek.
“You’re fucking gorgeous,” he mutters, lips ghosting along her jaw and Julie has to rest her hands against his chest to steady herself as her legs already feel wobbly. If she didn’t love him, she’d almost hate him for how easily he can affect her.
“Luke,” she whines as he continues to avoid her lips and trails one hand up his chest to wrap around his neck, fingers winding into his hair to tug lightly which only results in making him huff a laugh against the skin below her ear before giving in and pulling back.
“So,” he starts, press a light kiss to her cheek again again, “fucking,” he kisses the corner of her lips, “beautiful.” And he finally presses his lips to hers, soft at first and then she nips lightly at his top lip and he flexes his fingers against her hip, tugging her a closer with her suspenders to deepen the kiss.
Julie walks them backwards until the backs of her knees hit the edge of his bed and Luke takes the lead from there, lowering her down without breaking the kiss. He pulls away just enough to gasp for a breath, and she looks up at him, chest heaving and takes her chance to start her own teasing trail of kisses up his neck and across his jaw.
“Fuck,” he mutters and Julie smiles as she sucks lightly at his neck and sees the red mark her lipstick has left behind. She just hopes it lasts long enough for her full plan.
//
“This was because of the pole thing a few weeks ago, right?” Luke asks a few hours later as they lie in the middle of his bed, blankets half pushed to the floor and Julie’s spent the last five minutes kicking her legs back and forth to try and dislodge the reminder from covering her legs without having to turn around or sit up. She’s perfectly comfortably lying on her front, licking chocolate off her fingers from one of the brownies that Alex and Willie had been correct in leaving for them.
“Maybe,” she tries to shrug, but it’s awkward in this position and she quickly gives up to just look at him from under her lashes with a smile.
Luke laughs, his fingers trailing up and down her arm and over her shoulder a few times before he sits up slightly and leans over to press a kiss to her shoulder, “If I’d known it would cause such a reaction I would have slid down that pole in front of you months ago.”
“It might have still taken us months to get to this. Your roommates have very annoying schedules,” she shakes her head sadly and she thinks her hair has to be hitting him in the face, but he doesn’t say anything, just carefully gathers it in one hand to drape over her other shoulder, his lips still brushing soft kisses across her skin.
“Yeah. I’d get rid of them if Alex didn’t feed me for free and Reggie didn’t get us so many free tickets to stuff,” he sighs, breath blowing against her skin as his nose nudges over her shoulder blade until his lips follow and his rest his chin on her shoulder, and all she has to do is turn her head a little to find his eyes on her lips. “Though it would be so worth it for weekends like this.”
“Guess we should just make the most of this one first, huh?”
It’s a little awkward, and Luke must be uncomfortable with his torso twisted like it is, but it’s easy to kiss Luke, and to roll over until she can push him back down until his back hits the mattress and she can hover over him instead.
“You sound like you have a plan,” Luke comments, and his hands rest on her hips, fingers tapping against her as he looks up at her with those damn eyes of his. The ones that can’t hide a single thought or emotion. And all she can see is love, and okay yeah, probably a lot of lust.
“There might have been some bullet point list involved,” she shrugs one shoulder, her hair slipping over as she moves and Luke’s fingers flex against her, squeezing one hip as he lets out something that sounds halfway between a laugh and a groan.
“That shouldn’t be this hot,” he shakes his head, but his eyes are still shining and Julie loves him.
So she tells him. And kisses him. And wonders if it’s too soon to suggest they spend all their weekends together forever.

First Kiss - Tsukishima, Kageyama, Hinata, Yamaguchi (Karasuno First Year edition!)
Aoba Johsai Edition
It’s a little long, I have zero self control
Can you tell I love Tsukishima (。◕‿◕。)
TSUKISHIMA -
Before, you used to spend your days in school with your cousin, Yamaguchi, and his less-than-pleasant-but-ridiculously-good-looking best friend, Tsukishima.
He was a jerk, to put it lightly, but hey, you can be a jerk too.
“Your hair looks like a damn bird’s nest, and your bow’s all crooked. Did anyone even teach you how to be a girl?” “Did anyone teach you not to be such an insufferable asshole?” “Do you even know what ‘insufferable’ means?” “Uh, yeah, it means Tsukishima Kei.”
Yamaguchi regrets ever introducing you two.
Things may have started like that, but it wasn’t long before the biting tone in Tsukishima’s words was replaced by something more playful, each remark followed by a smile. He started walking you to your classes, saving you a seat next to him during lunch, even going so far as to share music with you. (He’ll never show you the playlist he’s made of all the songs you’ve recommended.)
But that was before. Now, you were doing your best not to melt under Tsukishima’s heated gaze, paying no attention to the golden brown eyes that have followed you around for days.
The bell rang to signal the end of class, and you quickly gathered all your things, throwing them haphazardly into your bag, and running out before Tsukishima could get to your desk.
You got to your locker in record time, quickly changing out of your school shoes so you could start your trek home. Usually, you would wait for Yamaguchi and Tsukki to get out of practice but… this was better for you.
“You’re avoiding me.”
You jumped at the voice that was suddenly right behind you, knowing exactly who would be there if you turned around, so you didn’t.
“Don’t you have volleyball practice?” “That’s beside the point.” “Avoiding you? I haven’t been –“ “I’m not a dumbass, so don’t play games with me. You’re avoiding me. Why?”
You gulped, gripping the school bag that hung off your shoulder until your knuckles turned white. You wanted to lie, but there’s no point. Tsukishima was always able to see right through you.
“I heard you tell Tadashi that you liked someone…” “… So?”
You tried to pretend that your heart didn’t just crumple up like a piece of paper. “SO! I didn’t want to ruin your chances; she might get the wrong idea if she sees us together all the time.”
He scoffed. “That is the single most idiotic thing I’ve seriously ever heard. Did you hit your head as a kid?”
You could feel your face turn red, anger beginning to bubble in your throat. You finally turn around to face Tsukishima, ready to give him a snarky comment. “No, YOU’RE the single most idiotic thing –“
The words died on your tongue, muffled by Tsukishima leaning down and pressing his own lips onto yours.
He pulled back, and couldn’t help but smirk at your flushed appearance.
“I was talking about you. Stupid.”
KAGEYAMA –
You had always found it extremely fun to mess with Kageyama Tobio
The boy was a genius when it came to volleyball; but maybe that’s where his genius ends.
It didn’t escape your attention that he would get flustered every time you smiled at him, or that his friends would tease him whenever you walked by, or that it was him dropping off a juice box and melon bread on your desk every morning with a note that says “have a good day.”
You enjoyed it; the way you could make him short circuit just by giving him a hug, the crimson on his face when he catches your eye from the court, and the deer-in-headlights look he gave you when you confessed your feelings.
You were never one to make the first move, sometimes wondering why you did it for Karasuno’s genius setter, but you’re reminded when you feel the shiver in his body as you slide your hand into his, and you see the sweet look in his eyes when you ask him to walk you to class.
You didn’t mind that you had to initiate most of the affection if it meant you got to see the blush that Kageyama always tried to hide.
Today, you found yourself in the perfect position to mess with him. The two of you were having a movie night, and even though you shared the same blanket, Kageyama was sitting on the other end of the couch like a perfect gentleman.
“Tobio,” you whined, “I want to cuddle.”
You didn’t even give the poor guy a chance to reply before crawling from your side of the couch, and situating yourself on his lap, arms reaching up around him as you buried your face into his neck.
You could feel Kageyama’s entire body stiffen, steam practically beginning to come out of his ears.
Laughter threatened to spill from your lips, so you decided you’ve done enough to the guy, and started to make your way off until you felt two strong arms snake around your waist.
You lifted your head to face Kageyama in surprise, but your breath was caught in your throat when you noticed the look he was giving you.
It was like slow motion – Kageyama’s head lowered and your eyes fluttered close before you felt the velvety soft pressure of his lips against yours.
Omg d-did he just kiss you?!
Now it was your turn to be flustered. The corner of Kageyama’s mouth turned upwards ever so slightly, and his hold around you tightened, causing the pink tint of your cheeks to deepen into crimson.
“Let’s stay like this for a while.”
HINATA –
Everything. Was. Going. Wrong.
This was not how Hinata imagined your first date together would go!
Do you have any idea how long Hinata has been waiting to ask you out? Ever since he met you at National’s last year, he’s been planning this day.
You were beautiful, funny, and you could teach him (more than) a thing or two about volleyball? *Chef’s Kiss*
When you finally agreed to go on a date with him, he thought he was dreaming. He knew he had to make it the best date ever.
He definitely didn’t go to the bathroom six times the morning of.
There was a summer festival that weekend, and he figured it would be the perfect place to take you on your first date.
Ten minutes in, Hinata had spilled Kakigori all over his Yukata. He had been in the middle of beating himself up about it when you reached over and dabbed at the stain with a napkin, laughing at his clumsiness.
An hour in, Hinata had spent nearly all his money trying to win you a stuffed animal to no avail. (You got it yourself in one try.)
Two hours in, Hinata had accidentally stepped on your obi, ripping the delicate material. He wanted to die right then and there, but you insisted it was old, and you were planning to get a new one anyway.
Just as Hinata thought he would redeem himself by taking you on the Ferris wheel, he found out that he got motion sickness, and you ended up having to rub his back, while he fought the urge to hurl the whole time.
“I’m so sorry,” he apologized once the two of you exited the metal death trap, sitting him on a bench, “I swear I had planned for this day to be much better.”
“What do you mean? I had a great time,” you said, and Hinata gave you a look that clearly said he didn’t believe you. You just laughed. “Hinata, when we first met, you threw up on my shoes. Today was a big improvement.”
He laughed. “Still – I wanted you to have a cooler memory of me.”
“You don’t have to try so hard,” you giggled, “I came here because I like you.”
Just then, the sky lit up with different colors of reds, greens, and blues; dancing together to create a pattern that illuminated your face in a way that made Hinata’s heart race.
You smiled then, sitting beside him on the bench and laying your head on his shoulder. “At least we have these fireworks.”
It was there, on a random bench under the glow of summer time, that you shared your first sweet kiss with Hinata Shoyo.
YAMAGUCHI -
Enter Yamaguchi Tadashi; Captain of Karasuno Volleyball Club, Pinch Server, and all-around good guy.
He’d like to think he was a completely different person now; no longer the shy, timid first year that was stuck on the bench while his classmates shone on the court.
Now, he was in charge, and one needed to have all the confidence in the world if they had to keep his demon classmates in line.
But all that confidence just went down the drain whenever you were around.
“Good morning, Yamaguchi-kun!” “Oh, hey! Hi, yeah, it’s a good morning right? Aha, the homework last night was pretty hard, right? Haha..ha.”
“I watched your game last night, Yamaguchi-kun! You were amazing, I couldn’t take my eyes off you!” “Wha - Ah - Haha, that was nothing, just - it was, uhm, the team they helped ahaha, I – Thank you?”
“Dude…” Tsukki would say, “What the hell just happened to you?”
Naturally, his friends got sick and tired of seeing him turn into a dumbass around you, so they decided to take matters into their own hands.
Yamaguchi should have known what the boys were up to when they decided they wanted to throw a party after the game. As captain, he probably should have spoken against it, but he was also feeling pretty high from the win, and wanted to let loose.
How they managed to trap him in this closet with you was beyond him. He thinks he heard the words “7 minutes in heaven” but the beers were making everything move too fast, and your proximity was more intoxicating than anything he drank that night.
You looked at him with glossy eyes, and he felt like he was drowning. More than a few minutes passed, neither of you moving. The tension was rising, and Yamaguchi didn’t want to make you feel like you had to do anything you didn’t want to.
“Y/N-san, you don’t have to –“ “Yamaguchi-kun, I like you.”
He froze, mouth hanging open. He watched as your gaze lowered, fiddling with your thumbs as you took a step back, and he instantly missed the closeness.
“I’m sorry, this was stupid. Tsukishima-san told me this would be a good idea, but I can see that I’m making you uncomfortable, I’m just going to –“
You felt Yamagachi’s warm hands on either side of your face, catching you off guard before he pulled you in and locked his lips onto yours. Your hands instantly moved up to wrap around his middle, and you lost yourself in the softness of his movements.
He pulled away, making a mental note to thank his idiot friends when you beamed up at him with a smile that blew him away. “I… I like you, too.”

Crushing on another team’s manager
Yamaguchi
He probably noticed you during training camp
You were the manager for Nekoma and Kuroo’s best friend, besides Kenma, so you hung out in the 3rd gym a lot.
Yamaguchi waits for Tsukki sometimes and plays with Kuroo, Bokuto and Akaashi.
He first notices you when you pop in to tell them that dinner is almost over.
“Kenma saved you a bowl but if you’re not at the dining hall in exactly 4 and a half minutes, I will be eating it, Kuroo.”
The 3rd-year laughs and starts cleaning up the gym along with the rest of the 3rd gym boys but Yamaguchi’s mind is still on you.
The first thing he noticed about you was the way a wide grin spread slowly across your face when you were teasing Kuroo.
He had never seen a smile so goofy yet so beautiful in his entire life. You intrigued him already
He thought about that smile as he went to sleep that night.
Your next encounter was during one of the practice games they had with Nekoma during the camp.
In between the sets, you were passing out water and towels to the Nekoma players.
Yamaguchi found his eyes wandering towards you. He couldn’t help it, all he could think of was that smile and how he’d love to see it again.
Before he could snap himself back to reality, you looked over to catch him staring. He immediately flushed and avoided eye contact.
When he glanced back up at you for just a second, you were waving at him and smiling. That same smile that he couldn’t stop thinking about. That same smile that radiated warmth and sunshine in the pull of your lips upward.
He almost stared for too long again but he was conscious enough to realize that he looked like a fool and he waved back before you looked away.
When you turned back to talking with Kuroo, he remained with the shock and euphoria of seeing your smile again.
Tsukishima had to knock him back from his thoughts when the next set was about to begin.
The third encounter was at the barbeque at the end of the training camp.
Everything was completely chaotic and you were keeping the Nekoma boys in check.
You passed around watermelon and chatted with Kaori and Yukie about how hard it is being the mom to a bunch of crazy teenage boys with way too much energy.
As you made your way to Karasuno, you hesitated and groaned.
“I can’t go over there, there’s a cute boy over there and I can’t hold my ground against cute people!” you whisper to your fellow managers.
They share a smile as you explain why they should go give Karasuno watermelon instead of you.
In unison, they grabbed your plate of watermelon and pushed you towards where Yamaguchi was sitting.
He turned around just in time to have the Nekoma manager flung into his arms unceremoniously.
As you try to grasp the situation, Yukie and Kaori out here just whistling and handing out watermelon, winking and wiggling their eyebrows at you.
You tried to untangle yourself from Yamaguchi and apologize for your friends but he was too shocked to get any of what you were saying. He was still processing that you, the beautiful angel with the beautiful smile, just fell into his arms, literally.
It all caught up with him eventually and he was beet red.
When he realized you were talking, he pulled himself together enough to listen to you.
“I am so sorry about that, and about my friends,” you growled at Kaori and Yukie, who shrugged and continued passing out watermelon. “I hope I didn’t hurt you,”
You rub the back of your neck, hoping he won’t notice the blush rising on your ears.
You two are just standing there awkwardly chuckling and blushing profusely while Nishinoya and Tanaka are sitting across the table watching you and munching on watermelon.
“So are you guys gonna go out or what?” asks Tanaka as he takes another bites of watermelon.
This draws your attention.
Its a whole mess of stuttering as you both frantically try to explain. You aren’t sure what you’re explaining but you don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea. Well, no completely the wrong idea.
Yamaguchi looks towards you, biting the inside of his lip awkwardly.
“That-uh- actually doesn’t sound like-uh- such a bad idea”
He cringes and braces himself for the imminent rejection but instead is met by a hand taking his.
“I’d like that,” you tell him.
He can’t help but smile when he sees your face, the one that is displaying that smile, that radiant smile that fills him with warmth.
Kyoutani
You were Oikawa’s sibling so he expected you to be just as annoying as your brother.
You go to Shiratorizawa for the science program and have become the manager for the team so you can participate in the school’s volleyball program even if your brother isn’t there.
The first time he meets you is when you come to bring Tooru a bento during practice.
You find a stray volleyball by the entrance and throw it straight at Tooru’s head
“Hey! Iwa-ch- y/n! Hi!”
You smile widely and pat your brother on the arm
“Hey stupid, I brought you a bento so you won’t starve”
While he rifles through the food you brought him, your eyes wander to around the court. You watch some of the other players practice .
What catches your attention is Kyoutani’s spike. You knew it was powerful from what Tooru has told you but you never expected to see him in person.
Of course you have to walk over and introduce yourself because hey, why not?
He just kind of stares at you. He thought you would be intimidated by his appearance since most people are but you just walked up to him and told him his spike was amazing.
That made an impression on him more than it probably should. You had such a confident air about you and he was very confused as to why he found himself thinking about you during his classes.
He would perk up whenever he heard someone coming into the gym, hoping it was you.
When Aoba Johsai played Shiratorizawa, you, of course, walked over to talk to Tooru.
“You are going to lose,” you spat. “Also I love you and do your best! Good luck!” Tooru rolled his eyes and punched your arm, so you punched his back harder and earned an “ow” from the drama queen.
When you were done messing around with Tooru, you looked over at Kyoutani and waved at him with a little smile.
“Good luck out there, Kyoutani! I hope I get to see one of those amazing spikes!”
You made your way back to the Shiratorizawa team as he scowled out of spite for his own heart, how dare it beat that fast when you talk to him
During the whole match, you cheered for both teams out of loyalty to your school and your brother.
When Kyoutani scored a point, you cheered the loudest. He wouldn’t show it but he loved the attention from you. If you cheered that loud at all of Aoba Johsai’s games, he would score all 25 points just to hear your praise again.
He asks Oikawa about his feelings and that was a mistake.
Oikawa is all “ohoho you like my sibling ohoho” he’s such a child
Kyoutani very is very close to just losing it when Oikawa’s all like “ listen here, young one (you’re only one year older shut up) you have a crush, and you gotta tell them. Here, I’ll help you.
He writes a little note on some Sanrio stationery because it was the only paper Oikawa had in his backpack and Oikawa is supposed to give it to you.
He’s a little bch about it tho
Just holding it above your head because stupid volleyball players
He eventually does let you read it and you are over the moon
Partially because of the cute stationary but mostly because your crush just confessed to you, I mean, how much better does it get
Now every time you come into the gym, Tooru does the wiggly eyebrows and you shut him up with a volleyball to the back of the head (Iwa: I’ve taught you well)

Kokuhaku
Hellooooo! This is the first... fic? imagine? what are they called? I don’t know :( but it’s my first time writing here so please don’t be too harsh, pleeease!
I just wanted to say that I love Satori so much and I need to read more things about him :( that’s how I ended up writing about him. It’s not a big thing, just something that came to my mind while I was at work today and I had the urge to share it.
Also, English is not my first language so bear with me please, I’m trying my best.
Warnings: angst?? I think. Rejection.
Pairing: Satori Tendo x Reader
“I like you, Satori”
What were you saying? Was this some kind of a prank? No, he knew you wouldn’t do that to him. Then, why would you say something like that?
He felt dizzy.
You looked at him and frowned.
“Are you okay? Is this making you feel uncomfortable?” He didn’t answer, he was speechless and you took that as a yes. “I’m sorry, I never meant to make you feel weird or anything” you sighed. “I just wanted to tell you how I felt because it was getting harder for me to keep it as a secret.”
He wanted to say something, he really did. But he couldn’t. He wanted to tell you that he felt the same way about you, but in reality he was scared.
He had been in this exact position years ago. A girl confessed her feelings to him next to the cherry tree that was just blossoming during spring. He was young and naïve. He really thought that someone could see him as a person and not a monster. So he believed her and gladly accepted her confession, asking her out on a date immediately.
But she never showed up.
He waited for her outside the cinema for at least 2 hours. She never answered his calls or texts.
When he finally saw her at school the next day, he finally understood that she didn’t mean any of the words she told him. She didn’t like him. She didn’t have a crush on him. She was just making fun of him with her group of friends.
He was devastated but he didn’t show it. He wasn’t going to give her or any other person the satisfaction of seeing him break.
So, he moved on. His heart and mind dedicated to volleyball, nothing else.
Until you came around.
You were the new girl in school and you were very quiet. It’s not like you were shy; he had seen that after you had a full debate against one of your classmates and destroyed the poor guy. You weren’t afraid of giving your opinion during classes, you weren’t scared of making mistakes and he liked that, but he decided to keep it to himself and not take any risks.
But then you asked him to be your partner during chemistry class, and saying things like “you look really smart and I honestly don’t want to be stuck again with an idiot and do all the work by myself” and he wanted to say no, he really did, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. So, he accepted.
You didn’t even notice the weird looks the other students were giving you. You just sat down next to him and started to talk about the project.
That was the beginning of your friendship. Since that day you started to sit next to him at lunch, and you even introduced yourself to his teammates, not feeling intimidated by Wakatoshi’s stern stare. Then you two started to hang out after classes, on the weekends or when he had time off from practice. It was nice being around you, you were really funny and smart, and surprisingly very affectionate. He liked that, even though the first time you hugged him he felt like his heart was going to explode. After that, it became a normal thing for you two to hug each other. Sometimes you would just sit next to him and place your head against his arm while talking about your day. Jesus, even Wakatoshi noticed and asked if you two were dating. Satori kind of freaked out and started to feel the flush spreading over his face, but you calmly said “not yet” and stared back at Wakatoshi.
Satori didn’t notice you were blushing and of course he didn’t even know you were beating yourself up mentally because you thought that you would scare him away. That was the last thing you wanted to do. You really liked Satori, but you had noticed the way he acted around other people. He was always cheerful and loud, but you knew that deep down he was scared and hurt. Besides, people had let you know what had happened years ago next to the cherry tree and you didn’t understand how someone could be so cruel to another person. Many people had also let you know that Satori looked like a monster and was scary, but you didn’t understand what they meant. Sure, he was weird and loud, but he wasn’t scary or even close to being a monster. He was caring, funny, smart and cute. And you wanted him to know that.
That is how you ended up here, telling him how much you like him, right outside of his favorite manga store, a place where you both had spent a lot of evenings reading and talking.
“Satori, can you please say something?” you asked nervously. You felt uneasy, you felt like you just ruined your whole friendship with him, and even though you wanted to be more than that, you still hoped that at least you would remain as friends if he did, in fact, reject you.
“Um, yeah, sorry, I was a little taken aback by that confession” he laughed a little.
“So…?” you bite your lower lip as you looked up to him. He was blushing and the tip of this nose was red, and you honestly didn’t know if it was for the cold winter wind or by your words.
“So what?” he stared back at you and you felt your heart ache. Was he seriously going to brush off your feelings like that? You honestly didn’t even know if he was rejecting you. “why are you looking at me that?” he asked a little worried.
“Like what?” you frowned. Was he being serious? You felt the tears starting to blur your sight.
“I-I don’t know… like that!” he stammered and pointed his finger at you.
“Like I just confessed my love to a guy and he is clearly ignoring me?” your voice startled him and he looked down. He didn’t want to hurt you or see you cry.
You sighed as you took a step forward and raised your right hand to touch his cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned against your palm, surprised at how warm it was despite how freezing it was outside.
“Satori, I really like you and I understand if you don’t feel the same way about me, but, please, I’m begging you, say something. I promise I won’t get mad at you for rejecting me, but I need to know how you feel. Please” You heart is aching and you honestly no longer know if it is because the idea of getting rejected or because he looks so devastated and lost right now.
He slowly opened his eyes and he felt like crying. You looked so sad and your pleading eyes just made him feel like the worst person on earth. He was an idiot. He was hurting you and he didn’t even mean to do that. Why was he so scared? He knew you wouldn’t hurt him like the other girl did. He knew your heart was in the right place and had no bad intentions with him... but maybe that was the reason why he couldn’t bring himself to accept your confession. You were too good for him. Too good for a monster. You deserved someone better than him. You shouldn’t be stuck with someone like him.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t feel the same way about you” he said while looking directly at you. “I think you are a great friend, but that’s all. I never meant to lead you on. I’m really sorry” It took him an incredibly amount of will power to take a step back and see how you lost all your hope for a positive answer.
“It’s okay, Satori. I understand.” you tried to smile and show him that it was indeed okay, but you couldn’t. You wanted to cry and suddenly you felt like an idiot. You should’ve just kept it to yourself. “I honestly hope this doesn’t affect our friendship. I can handle rejection, but I can’t handle losing a friend.” a small laugh escaped past your lips and you thought that maybe everything was going to be okay. You were going to get over it, you knew that, but it still hurt like a bitch and deep down you knew that it was going to be hard to be around him for a while.
“If that’s okay with you then I’m okay with it” he said while he put his cold hands inside his jacket’s pockets. You just nodded and sighed. “shall we go back to our dorms? I’m freezing and the team would kill me if I get sick” he shivered.
“Yeah, it’s actually getting late. Let’s go” you smiled at him and he smiled back.
It was going to be okay.

part one || part two || part three || part four || part five || part six ||
part seven || part eight || epilogue
Once you were in Anatomy class, you dropped your head down onto the table and closed your eyes. You had spent all of last night studying for a math test and by the time you felt like you had everything down, it was already time to leave for school.
You didn’t know how you were going to make it through the day, especially since you were the type of person to be grumpy without a full eight hours of sleep.
“ Do my eyes deceive me or is Y/N sleeping in class?” Josh’s voice whispered from behind you as you straightened your back and turned around to face him,” I didn’t realize you were such a rebel.”
“ Josh is actually on time for class? I didn’t realize you were such a goodie-two-shoes,” You teased back as Josh smirked.
“ What can I say, I was extra motivated to show up to class today,” Josh said as he smiled wide at you.
You turned back around to hide how flushed your face was and tried to think about anything else. You weren’t sure how you truly felt about Josh but there was a small part of you that wouldn’t mind if you did have a small crush on him.
Everyone knew Josh to be a genuinely sweet guy and nobody ever had anything negative to say about him which only made you more attracted to him. Josh was the perfect student and the golden samaritan and it was about time you liked someone who wasn’t a complete asshole.
Class went on and you were thankful that Josh remained silent as he sat behind you for your own sake. It wasn’t until the end of class when your teacher introduced a new project that made Josh sit up a bit taller.
Once your teacher announced that you were able to pick your own partners Josh tapped your shoulder with his pencil and greeted you with a warm smile.
“ I think the universe is telling us that we should be partners,” Josh suggested as you tried to not act impressed,” would you want to work on this together? It’s cool if you don’t but I just thought since I already have your number, it would be easier.”
“ You have my number? ” You asked as you tried to remember if you did give it to him but you knew you definitely would’ve.
Josh pulled out his phone as he furrowed his eyebrows,” Huh, you’re right. Well in that case, gimme your number so I can call you sometime.”
Damn, he really was smooth.
You couldn’t help but let out a small laugh as you took his phone and started to enter your number,” Do you mean you’ll call me about the project?”
Josh playfully shrugged as you handed back his phone,” Well sure, that too. I actually wanted to ask if you needed a ride to the party on Saturday. I was going to go with my band but there isn’t enough room for all the equipment so we’re taking two cars. It’ll just be me, you, and a few speakers in the car if that’s okay?”
You didn’t think twice before accepting his offer,” Yeah that sounds great actually, thank you.”
“ Of course, it’s my pleasure, I’ll pick you up at nine,” Josh smiled as the bell rung,” do you mind if I walk you to class? I don’t want you to sleepwalk on the way there or anything.”
“ I wouldn’t mind at all,” You said sweetly as the two of you walked out of the classroom side by side.
---------
You took another look at your deck before placing one of your cards face down into the pile. You readjusted your body to lay stomach-down on your bed and eyed Peter suspiciously.
For the last hour and a half, you and Peter had been playing various card games after he had claimed to be better than you and since you both had competitive spirits, you knew you couldn’t’ let him spew lies.
Peter sat up on your bed with his legs crossed as his eyes darted from his cards to the movie playing in the background.
You and Peter had been hanging out more and more lately and you never realized how much fun it was to spend time with him. You couldn’t believe you two had gone from yelling and screaming insults at each other to playfully bantering as you hung out in your room.
“ What do I get if I win this round?” You ask as Peter let out a low chuckle.
“ Darling, you’re never going to beat me, I promise you that,” Peter said as he put down another card,” but if you win, maybe I could give you a kiss-from the store! Like those chocolate kisses, the Hershey ones!”
You clicked your tongue against the roof of your mouth and shook your head,” Nice save Parker, you were so close! But lets just say when I win...you owe me a favor. Nothing bad but maybe one day you’ll have to do my laundry or make me breakfast.”
“ You know I could do those things for you without having it be a favor,” Peter said as you took another look at your deck,” if anything, now would be the best time to ask me to do favors for you.”
You looked up at Peter for a moment before turning back to your deck of cards. You weren’t sure why his answer had made you feel a certain type of way but you felt guilty nonetheless.
The idea that because of Peter’s state, you could literally ask him to do anything for you and he would do it without a second guess made you feel gross. You never would want to take advantage of him when you knew he wasn’t in the right state of mind and you would hope that if it were the other way around, he would give you the same respect.
“ We can wait until after you’re cured,” You assured him as you showed Peter your winning deck with a smirk,” what were you saying about how I would never beat you?”
Before Peter could answer, the complex shook from underneath the foundation and the lights throughout the building shut off.
You hardly paid any attention to it since things were always going on around the complex to mess with the power and after a few seconds of waiting, the power came back on and you moved your attention to the cards on the bed.
“ What do you think it is this time?” Peter asked as you handed him the rest of the cards so he could reshuffle them.
You shrugged as you sat up from the bed and looked out towards your window that looked out to the landing pad,” Well there’s not some spaceship outside so I’m guessing it came from the labs, speaking of which, my dad said they've been working extra hard and they think they found something.”
“ That’s good news,” Peter said as he felt a bit of relief,” I want everything to go back to normal...I won’t lie, I don’t know how much more of this I can take.”
As each day passed, Peter’s mental and physical health declined drastically. From agonizing insomnia to tight chest pains, Peter felt like his body was turning on him and he had never felt this type of pain before.
Peter knew that this lovedust wasn’t temporary and the only way his pain would stop would be when a cure was found. In the beginning, he found himself to mostly be embarrassed around you and what would accidentally spill out of his mouth but now, he found so much comfort in being near you because that was the only way his pain would stop.
“ I’m sorry I can’t do anything to help. If there was a way to take all of your pain for myself, you know I would,” You said as Peter shook his head.
“ No, absolutely not. The way this dust messes with my mind and my body… I would never want you to go through something like this. You know how I was with my spidey senes? This is a hundred times stronger than that and your whole existence is underneath a microscope that I physically can’t pry away from but at the same time, I don’t want to look away,” Peter said as you grabbed one of your pillows and hugged it against your chest,” When I think about you, -which is all the time- I can feel myself getting more anxious-but in a good way- and then when I finally see you, it literally takes my breath away.”
You couldn’t help but let out a burst of laughter as Peter awkwardly laughed with you,“ God Parker, you’re so cheesy. Are you saying the lovedust made me pretty?”
Peter’s cheeks flushed as he sunk into his seat shyly,” You were always pretty. Even before the lovedust, I thought you were the most beautiful girl I ever saw.”
Now it was your turn to stop laughing as your smile dropped into a ‘seriously?’ look. The idea of Peter ever thinking you were pretty had never even crossed your mind but now that he was confessing that he did even before the lovedust made your heart skip a beat.
You weren’t sure why you were nervous all of a sudden but you couldn’t even bring yourself to respond.
Luckily, you didn’t have to because not even a moment later, a loud knock came from the other side of the door and you could hear your dad’s voice.
“ Y/N, can I come in?” Tony asked as you and Peter’s eyes opened wide, silently panicking.
Your dad had specifically told you almost every day that you were meant to stay away from Peter and you knew that if he found out, you would be grounded for the rest of your life. Your dad was a great parent but the reason that your relationship with him worked was because of trust and honesty.
The rule was that he would always be honest with you if you were honest with him and you knew how much it would hurt him if he found out you were seeing Peter behind his back.
You pushed Peter off the bed in a panic as he looked back at you confused. You pointed underneath your bed as Peter shimmied under it without a second thought.
You quickly went to the door and opened it wide to see your dad standing there in his lab coat.
“ Have you seen your boyfriend? He needs to do another round of tests before bed and I can’t find him anywhere,” Your dad said as he walked past you and sat right on the edge of your bed.
“ Um, excuse me, don’t contaminate my bed with your lab coat! And nope, not since you explicitly told me not to,” You said as you sat across from him at your desk,” Also, wow boyfriend? I thought I wasn’t supposed to have one until I’m forty? ”
You purposely tried to keep your eyes away from the bottom of the bed but you knew how easy it would be to lock eyes with Peter who was looking up at you.
“ And I still stand by that. All boys are dumb and immature with the exception of any who live in this complex,” Tony looked over at the neatly stacked cards and started to shuffle them.
“ Uncle Scott doesn’t live here,” you pointed out as your dad nodded,” and Uncle Steve just visits.”
“ Did I stutter?” He said as you let out a small laugh,” But now that I’m here, I wanted to talk to you about Peter and what we discovered so far. I don’t want to scare you but his condition is getting severe and I feel like you should know what’s going on.”
You darted your eyes towards the bottom of your bed but quickly looked back at your dad.
“ Um, does Peter know what’s going on?” You asked as your dad shook his head.
If there was any chance that whatever your dad was about to say could mentally or physically break down Peter, you didn’t want it to be from Peter listening in underneath your bed.
“ No and he can’t know,” your dad sighed as you shifted in your seat,” I think it would mess with his head and we need his morale to be high. You cannot tell him but we discovered-”
“Dad um, I’m really tired and I have school in the morning. Can we talk about this another time?” You interrupted as your throat suddenly felt dry,” school has me drained and I don’t think I’m emotionally ready for any other curveballs.”
Your dad only nodded as he got up from the bed and pressed a kiss onto your forehead,“ Alright kiddo, don’t stay up too late. After school, I want you up in the lab with Banner and I, we could use your help,” Tony said casually as you gave him a small smile.
“ Okay, no problem, goodnight,” You said as your dad closed your bedroom door behind him.
You waited a second and thought things over as Peter scooted out from underneath your bed.
You turned your head to look at Peter and as you two locked eyes for a moment, it was as if you two were both apologizing by just one glance. You wanted to tell him that everything would be okay and that no matter what, Peter would be able to be back to normal yet you knew you shouldn’t promise things you couldn’t keep.
Peter knew that you wanted to spare his feelings but he would’ve given anything to find out what his mentor was keeping from him. For the first time since he made contact with the lovedust, he felt defeated and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it.
You didn’t want to lie to him but it was hard to do that when you knew you should comfort and console him.
The idea that something was really wrong with Peter besides a few embarrassing word vomits terrified you and you never thought that it would ever get so serious.
“ Peter, I will always be here if you need anything...No matter what, you’ll always have me,” You said as Peter’s jaw clenched.
You knew those weren’t the best things to hear at a time like this but you couldn’t bring yourself to lie and tell him that everything will work out when you didn’t have all of the information.
Peter got up from the ground and stood over you, his dull eyes felt like they were looking through you instead of at you,” Just...don’t give up on me, okay?”
You bit the inside of your cheek and nodded as Peter gave you one final look before exiting your room.
As soon as the door closed behind Peter, he felt his knees buckle in as he slid down on the other side of the door and did his best not to cry.
Every time Peter exhaled, he felt like his throat was on fire and the only way he could describe the feeling in his chest was imagining loose telegraph wires electrocuting a swimming pool. As his breathing became more rapid and shallow, all he could think about was how to stop the pain.
He didn’t know that being in love could ever feel this painful but Peter hated it. He hated the feeling of being so helpless and he hated himself for always thinking of you.
Every thought of him holding you close to his chest, him pressing his lips against yours, and him telling you over and over again how much he loved you felt corrupted and only brought more pain.
But if Peter really thought about it, he would never take any of it back. If being in love with you meant that there was a chance he could literally die, then that was a risk he was willing to take.

older girlfriend. {pt.2}
synopsis: You as older Karasuno’s boys girlfriend.
# tags: headcanons; current relationships; older!y/n; romance; lil bit of comedy; fluff; some kisses and hugs; sometimes reader is smol or has a babyface and because of this she doesn’t seems to be on 3rd year or studies; sfw
includes: female reader ft. hisashi kinoshita, kazuhito narita, tobio kageyama, shouyou hinata, kei tsukishima & tadashi yamaguchi {hq!!}
part one {click}
— HISASHI
↘ The year of difference wasn’t a something big for you and Kinoshita. It isn’t disturb two of you.
↘ But it doesn’t change the fact that sometimes you acted more like his mother than his girlfriend...
↘ I mean, whenever you went out with him you corrected his school uniform, scarf, hat or hair. You often brought him a bento or a bottle of mineral water, and you even reminded him about his tests or matches in the messages.
↘ You haven’t had a chance to meet the rest of the volleyball group yet, but if it ever did, you’d like to prepare yourself better.
↘ For example, you will make some cookies or lemons in honey to make the Karasuno team remember you well and for a long time.
↘ In sum, Hisashi was a really good boy for you and as a thank you he would always buy you your favorite flowers, chocolates, bubble tea or carry your bag/backpack from school to your house.
— KAZUHITO
↘ The relationship with Narita and being his older girlfriend is (like with Ennoshita) really tender, soft and respectful. You two aren’t rush and don’t want to rush with anything.
↘ You’re Kazu’s first girlfriend so he’s a little bit awkward... He’s like a walking, big mess who often stutters and blushes.
↘ He’s cute. The cutest.
↘ Study dates!! Lots of study dates!!!! With some snacks, fizzy drinks and then with movies or anime.
↘ You are in the third grade plus you’re a amazing and supportive girlfriend, so you help him with many school things; you give him your old notes and notebooks and help him with upcoming tests. It’s a good time for both of you because you write your final exams!
↘ For each good answer, you give him a kiss or stroke his shaved lovely head.
↘ Bonus: You’ve already met the Karasuno volleyball squad, but you’re not close with them yet. You just spend too much time with Kazuhito, so you don’t look at the other boys...
— TOBIO
↘ Kageyama is so clumsy. MY GOD. The most clumsy person in the whole world. Poor baby.
↘ But you love him anyway. Especially when you have the opportunity to tease him. And as you’re two years older than him and in your last grade of high school, your boyfriend knows that he can’t stand up to you. A respectful kid™.
↘ That’s why you come to his training very often and cheer him on, which he makes MANY mistakes.
↘ Headcanon in headcanon: Imagine he’s giving a quick-strike to Hinata and suddenly you yell at him, ‘Come onnnn, honey! If you try hard and win, you will get as many kisses after training as your team will get points! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!’. And... the ball literally hits Sho in his face (sorry Hinata, ily).
↘ You and the rest of the Karasuno team are laughing and Tobio hides his face in his hands so that no one sees his blushes. Poor baby vol.2.
↘ But he loves you so so so so much too.
↘ Anyway. You keep your promise after training. But sometimes you double the number of kisses because you have a soft spot for this volleyball maniac.
— SHOUYOU
↘ We all knows it’s a canon that this kid would fall in love with someone older. And he would probably be the first to confess his feelings, after a very long observation and a few conversations with you about random things like food, animals, movies, school, sports and weather.
↘ At first he would be surprised that you are older than him. I mean, you’re pretty small, smaller than Hinata... So he thought you were the same age as him.
↘ Surprise, you are a year older!
↘ When you start dating, Shouyou will definitely be the one who plan most of your dates. He will also introduce you to his lovely volleyball team, coach, whole family and total stranger people, boasting that you are his beautiful, smart, tiny girlfriend. Another big #SIMP.
↘ Hinata is a really, REALLY hyped person so you will have to take care of him by bringing him healthy food and water, for example. You will also come to his matches and training, asking him to take care of himself and not hurt himself. You always worry about him...
↘ I must to say it: Thanks to you, this boy has brighted even more. He loves you very much, I can’t describe it by words.
— KEI
↘ This sarcastic, tauntsy and mean asshole was just laughing at Hinata, his height and the fact that he didn’t make a good serve. Then he also started accosting Kageyama by calling him ‘The King’. What a mf... I have NO words.
↘ You heard his voice just outside the gym entrance because the door was open. You were shocked that this cutie had such... nasty tongue. He was completely unlike that nice, sweet and respectful boy you’ve always seen on your dates. You had to do something and save the orange head and his black-haired friend from more rude words.
↘ “Tsukishima Kei.” You entered the big hall, folding your hands on your hips. “What’s that supposed to mean. How do you talk to your teammates. Well, I’m shocked.”
↘ The team thought you were his sister or cousin. What was their surprise when you walked towards the tall blonde boy, then grabbed his ear and pulled down.
↘ “Y-Y/N...”
↘ “Did Tsukki stutter...?” Hinata’s whisper echoed between the players.
↘ “I wanted to support you in today’s training, because I finished my classes earlier at the university, but you are doing something like that... I’m really disappointed, Kei. You are such a bad boy.” You said what the four-eyed blushed at. “Apologize to them.”
↘ “B-But baby...”
↘ “What the fuck.” Shaved head choked.
↘ “Tanaka watch your tongue.” Sugawara said, patting him on the back.
↘ “Kei...” You muttered impatiently, at which the boy took a deep breath.
↘ “Fine...” You literally knocked out him so he just gave up. He turned to the two first years and apologized to them as you ordered.
↘ Then you smiled gently and patted his head because he was still crouching.
↘ The unforgettable first meeting with the volleyball team is already done!
— TADASHI
↘ Literally no volleyball club member will forget the day when you for first time came for Yamaguchi.
↘ Third years been so shocked. Second years had nosebleeds. The first years fainted and fell on the floor. Coach Ukai stopped in time and Mr. Takeda thought it was a american movie or korean drama. Two girly managers flushed so hard. What a beautiful memory.
↘ That day you were wearing black and heavy combat boots, black pants, a leather jacket and sunglasses on your nose. You were also chewing gum and you had a phone and car keys in your one free hand. All the students that you passed have stopped to look at your figure. The teachers wanted to call the police, by the way. Comedy and drama rolled into one.
↘ You entered the gym as if you were at your own apartment and quickly looked around. When everyone noticed you, only then you smile as your eyes met Tadashi. He was so sweet, so flushed. You wanted to kiss his whole, freckled face.
↘ ... And you did it after a few seconds, shocking everyone (even Tsukishima, who didn’t know that his bestie had a girlfriend four years older than him).
↘ Tanaka and Noya were literally crying against the wall while you were still kissing your sweet boy, telling him that today you’re taking him for a drive date and movie night to your apartment.

chan in the teacher's office with a massive praise kink that you just wouldn't give to him :DDDDDD
[MOE THANK YOU FOR THIS BABYYYYYYYY]
[sub!idol, dom!reader, femdom, rivals, praise kink, elements of rough sex, elements of brat taming, elements of corruption kink, taunting, degradation, dirty talk, face-sitting, semi-public,
Someone was a two-faced snake, and you had a good idea who it could be. Of all the names on the list to apply for the TA opening, you didn’t put it past the candidate who got the job to have thrown you under the bus to get there.
In fact, Chan had been there when you went to drop off your application materials in person between class sessions. The only problem was you had been running miserably late for your next class when you hadn’t found the professor in his office like you’d originally attempted.
“Are you looking for the professor?” He’d curiously asked, sitting in the front row of the lecture hall and packing up his things. He looked a bit familiar, and you wondered where you’d seen him as he introduced himself even though you didn’t have much time or desire to care. When you told him you had something to give to the professor, Chan had simply grinned and warmly offered to take whatever you had and make sure it was delivered if you had to leave. You had felt uneasy, but there was no way you’d get to class on time if you waited.
So now Chan was the TA. And now you only wanted to get back at him.
You did some quick research, of course. No one really noticed or cared that you sat in on a lecture one afternoon when your schedule allowed, and tapped around on your laptop to see if you could find any info on Chan. Now you knew why you thought you recognized him. He was everywhere. Debate club, soccer team, president of his frat — he was seasoned at clawing his way to the top, apparently. You also realized you’d heard his name whispered around. Chan was incredibly attractive and capable, but thoroughly unapproachable as he was constantly busy with school and cold to anyone who presented a distraction. Even then, however, you learned from some friends that word around campus was he was a sucker for blowing off steam with the occasional pickup from the library.
So you went to the library. Every day, for the next week, you hung out at the library until after dark to study and work, practically living in a study station as close to the front entrance as you could get. Eventually, your diligence paid off and you saw him browsing the shelves. You’d made sure to evoke the look of the girls you’d heard he’d fooled around with — cute, eager, and susceptible. You packed up your bag and made to cross the library floor as Chan headed down between the tables, and pretended to be obliviously startled as you bumped into him and dropped your books.
You were sure to look sheepish. Chan beamed at you as he helped you pick up your books. “Hey, are you alright?”
“Yeah,” you giggled demurely as you dusted yourself off. “I’m so sorry — hey, don’t I know you?”
Chan’s eyes shined with opportunity. He clearly recognized you, but you didn’t recognize him? “No, I don’t think we know each other,” he innocently shrugged, “but I sure would like to.”
You let Chan buy you a coffee at the library cafe that evening. You let him buy you a coffee the next day at the cafe in the student lounge, too. You even let him walk you to class, and you even went to the library together to study that afternoon. It was then, as he got up to look for a book, that you peered into his bag. Nothing out of the ordinary — until you spied what you were looking for. Nonetheless, you had ended the night telling Chan, “You’re the best,” and his winning smile had the smallest edge of smugness to it that you couldn’t deny.
This ruse with Chan continued for a whole week (you even got a dinner out of it) until you decided to make your move. Of all the pretty boy alpha types you ever came across in school, Chan wasn’t as obnoxious, but he was still every bit as insufferable, and your need to one-up him hadn’t waned whatsoever. Part of his tasks as TA were to get into the professor’s office and copy the grades and feedback into the web portal for records and student access. This was normally best done during the professor’s lunch, since he didn’t have his next class until much later that afternoon and this left Chan plenty of time. He just wasn’t expecting to see someone sitting in the professor’s chair when he came in this time.
You spun in the chair, giving him a knowing smile when you faced him. “Hey.”
“Hey yourself,” Chan grinned, more confused than surprised. “What’re you doing here?”
“I missed you,” you pouted. Chan’s eyes were glued to your knees under your skirt as you uncrossed your legs and leaned forward, hands set apparently eager upon your thighs. “I wanted to see you.”
Chan, that idiot. He dropped his bag as he closed the door behind him and instantly approached you. You tried to hold back, not wanting to give anything away, and you let him duck down to cup your face before he just went for it and kissed you for the first time. It was nice, admittedly, his soft lips pressed to yours just hard enough to let his desire become apparent. “I’ve been waiting for this,” he smiled radiantly.
“So have I,” you nodded sweetly.
“Come on,” Chan kissed you again, murmuring against your lips as he pulled on your hand, “let’s go back to my place.”
“Mmph, no,” you whined as you sat back in the chair and let your knees fall open, “I want you right here, professor.”
Chan paused, his ego clouding his mind and getting distracted when you teasingly ran your fingers down his chest and over his belt. To really sell the ruse for the past week, you had seemed too bashful to really even hold hands this whole time, so this was proving effective as Chan stood a bit stunned, lips parted like he was trying to find any words at all when you finally pulled at his shirt and brought him back down to kiss you again.
This seemed to ignite something in Chan, as he groaned in your kiss and instantly dropped to his knees in front of you. “You want it?” He asked, his voice already growing husky from arousal. You nodded, seemingly desperate before he slid a hand up your knee and he kissed you harder now, his tongue hungrily prodding into your mouth while his fingers brazenly brushed against your panties.
“Oh, professor,” you moaned cutely, which only served to fuel Chan’s motivations as he massaged your accumulating wetness into you with his fingertips. You knew what would be coming. He’d heard you gush that he was the best for the past week and now he only wanted to hear you moan it for him while he fucked you. However, even then he didn’t want to rush you too much. He waited until the moment you reached for his belt. If he had been thinking more clearly, Chan would’ve considered what the consequences could be if he got caught fucking in the professor’s office, but that much consideration was a pipe dream the second you pulled his jeans open and exposed his hard member.
Chan clawed into your hips and pulled you to the edge of the professor’s chair before he nudged your soaked panties to the side and lined up against you. His hushed gasp was even sort of cute when he finally began to rock his hips into you. It was almost distracting, the way his brows furrowed and the way his cheeks flushed as he worked his way deep inside you. But you wouldn’t allow yourself to get distracted. Instead, you forced yourself to be starkly silent.
It didn’t take long for Chan to notice. His groans sounded more frustrated within minutes, no matter how hard he tried to cover it up. “Come on, baby, I know it’s so good,” he panted. “Tell me how good it is.”
“Yeah,” you clearly placated, “it’s so good.”
Chan was pretty much flabbergasted, practically stupefied before he decided to try something else. Clearly, this had never happened before. More than likely, every girl who had ever wrapped her legs around him made him feel like a deity before you came along. Chan stubbornly scooped you up from the chair and picked you up to perch you on the professor’s desk before he began fucking you in earnest again. “There we go,” he groaned in satisfaction, “that’s much better, isn’t it?”
“It is,” you casually agreed, “it’s way better.”
“What is your deal?!” Chan finally broke, but his hips didn’t stop snapping against you.
“Nothing,” you shrugged innocently, trying hard not to squeal from how amazing Chan felt inside you.
“No no, you don’t get to pull that,” Chan shook his head adamantly, “I’m an amazing lay, don’t play games with me.”
“Who’s playing games?” You asked. “I just thought you were going to fuck me like you did when you ruined my chances of getting the TA position.”
“The what?!” Chan backed up, his cock popping out of your dripping pussy before you fiercely clutched his shirt to pull him close again.
“The TA position, you fucking asshole,” you growled, “don’t play dumb now.”
“So you did recognize me,” Chan snapped, even as he still recovered from you suddenly saying anything more severe than dang. You rolled your eyes despite his slick length prodding back inside you.
“Of course I did, stupid. So who’s worse: me for lying, or you for wanting to rub your victory in my face by being some sex god?”
“Look, it isn’t like that—“
“Oh my god, Chan, I’m being rhetorical, of course it’s you. Trying to have your cake and eat it too? How predictable. And what were you gonna do? Make me worship your dick and bask in my stupidity?”
“You’re making it sound so much worse!” Chan laughed defensively, even as his dick was currently filling you out again. “Maybe I thought if you didn’t recognize me I’d actually have a chance with you? You can stop pretending this isn’t good and just hate me like a normal fucking person.”
“Or you could actually earn it instead of just insisting on it,” you grinned. “It’s fine though, I won’t tell anyone you’re just alright in the sack. Only you and I will know... but that would drive you crazy, wouldn’t it?”
“You are such a conniving bitch!”
“Then why are you still fucking me, stupid? Admit you want to earn it and maybe we’ll make some progress here. You clearly fucked my chances so you’re lucky I’m in this for sport and not reporting you to the deans.”
“Why would you?! You have no proof—“
Chan shut up, instantly, as you plucked open a button on your blouse to pull the stolen application you’d found in his bag out from where it was tucked in your bra. “Earn it, stupid. Earn it or I’m reporting you to the deans.”
He swallowed down his retort as he eyed the application in your hand. “I'm guessing you have a picture of that application sitting in my bag where you found it,” he muttered as he tried to catch his breath.
“Of course I do, you dumb cock. Now admit you want to earn your gold star; you’re making this less fun the more you pussyfoot around it.”
Chan paused, staring down the piece of paper as you folded it back up and reached forward to tuck it in his pocket. It was that tiny gesture that assured him of something he’d wondered since you first exposed your plot. Hadn’t you been getting along? It couldn’t have all been a lie. Suddenly, Chan felt much more at ease once you put the application in his pocket. This was a game, or just sportsmanship, like you said — and he was an awful loser.
“Fine, I want it,” Chan admitted with disgust, “I want you to tell me how good I am. Tell me how to get it.”
“Oh, now I have to tell you?” You laughed out loud even while you tried your hardest to keep your voice steady. “You wouldn’t need me to tell you if you were such an amazing lay.”
Chan’s cheeks flushed immediately at the comeback. “Do you want it or not, you bitch.” It was almost a pout, and you loved how pathetic it was.
“On the floor, slut.”
Your command was simple but the humiliation burned Chan enough that he didn’t even have a retort for you while he slipped back out of you and lowered himself to the floor. His leaking member was still standing tall even when you raised a foot to playfully shove into his shoulder to lay him down. You stepped closer, like you were circling prey and taking your time before you were soon stood with your flats on either side of his head on the professor’s office floor. He sucked in a gasp as he got a great view up your skirt until you lowered yourself fully onto his face and reached forward to grab onto his cock. Chan shivered.
“See? You could’ve been having this much fun this whole time,” you purred as you massaged his length. “You just had to find someone to make you stop trying to pretend to be some top dog alpha male.”
“Please,” Chan moaned against you, “you taste so fucking good but please let me fuck you again.” He was muffled once you ground your soaked pussy against his plush lips, swollen and red by now. His hands gripped hard onto your thighs where you straddled his face, caught between trying to breathe and trying to lick every inch of you.
“You sure, slut?” You grinned. “You sure I won’t be bored into thinking about my thesis research?”
“I told you that subject is way too broad--” Chan bit back until you shut him back up again. You took mercy as he whined into you. “I want it,” he gasped once you lifted off of him again. “You won’t be bored if you tell me what to do. I’ll do whatever you want.”
“Anything to succeed, huh?” You taunted. You could almost feel him blush harder under you. Admittedly, Chan was accelerating your arousal more than you ever wanted to admit. For being such a cocky jerk, he was incredibly good with his tongue — maybe his loud mouth was good for something after all. Worse still, you did want to feel his cock inside you again.
You tried to seem nonchalant as you arose to your feet, because the last thing you wanted was to give away your excitement while you turned and sat yourself down on Chan’s hips. “Look at me, Chan,” you softly directed, one hand steadying yourself by pressing into his shoulder and your other hand raked back into his hair. He did look at you, all puppy dog eyes and his lips slick with you as he still tried to catch his breath while you slowly slid his warmth back inside you. You both groaned now, and he immediately lit up at your response as you began to roll your hips against his.
He practically whimpered the second you moaned again, and if you’d known you just needed to train him to respond to any reaction out of you to get you so fired up, you wouldn’t have even bothered with making him fight for any praise. Chan groaned and whined under you as you roughly rode him and angled your hips so you could still grind your clit against him. “You want it?” You mewled. “You want me to tell you how good you are?”
“Yes,” Chan gasped, followed by a quick sigh of pleasure as you teasingly dragged a fingernail down his neck. He gave a shocked cry as you grabbed his shoulder, hauling him over with you to roll over and land between your legs.
“Earn it, baby,” you taunted, and Chan took the bait. He spread you wide on the floor and grabbed onto one of your legs to throw it over his shoulder and keep you open for his fingers to tease at your clit. You were honestly impressed. Apparently he just needed some pushing to get creative. And, like this, he was good. He was an amazing lay, but you were still a bit begrudged to admit it. But that was being a sore loser, wasn’t it? “Chan,” you finally gasped as he angled right into your most sensitive spot.
“What?” He panted, not letting up his pace as he drilled into that sweet little target. That peak seemed to be approaching much faster than you originally thought.
“Chan,” you repeated, more desperately now, “you’re the best, you’re the fucking best, make me finish—“
Chan responded with a broken moan, a harried whimper as you finally shattered to pieces on his cock and came way harder than you’d previously saw coming. He seemed to be right on your trail as well as his fingertips dug into your hips, even as you’d pretty much gone limp aside from the small tremors felt through to your toes. “Holy shit,” he croaked, “you’re so goddamn good, I’m gonna—”
“—Cum,” you sighed with relief, fast enough to practically be another command for him to follow. Chan did, still obediently following orders as he clawed into you. His hips stuttered against you and he climaxed with a hoarse cry, his orgasm flowing hot and causing you both to melt into each other.
Chan collapsed onto your chest after he relinquished your leg, but made sure to roll more to your side so he wouldn’t suffocate you. You both gasped for air now. He was oddly sweet, his lips nuzzling against your neck and under your ear. “So... Are we even?” He finally panted.
“Hardly,” you cooed as you kissed his hair and sat up. You rolled him the rest of the way off of you and he looked up at you with those puppy eyes again. It was awful, how cute he was, but it was starting to grow on you. “Now I just hate you like a normal person.”
If Chan was as smart as you knew he was, he would figure you out. If he wanted to keep playing, he had to see the move you were setting up.
“Fine,” he grinned. You were actually relieved. “Give me a few tries and we’ll see how you feel then.”

"Story to story Building to building Street to street We pass each other on the stairs" - The Stairs, INXS
Revelius Sparks looks pleasant enough. His smile that tries almost too hard not to be a smile, his hands in his pockets and his eyes occasionally offering her an unreadable look. His sweater, on the other hand, looks rather disturbing. Improper. Disheveled. Messy. There are tiny colourful stains all over it (paint?) and there's a little hole on his shoulder. A hole revealing a bright yellow shirt he has underneath. Audrey Claire finds it weirdly comforting unacceptable. Her coming here was also unacceptable. But then again, wasn't that the idea? Wasn't she supposed to be doing something drastically different? And Revelius Sparks is someone she normally wouldn't have crossed paths with. There were days when he would come to school with his longish hair sprinkled with glitter. There were days when he would attend classes in mismatched shoes. Sometimes, he would come wrapped in a giant, ridiculous, red scarf that looked like it came straight out of his grandma's closet. As opposed to that, there were days when he would look completely normal. Jeans, shirts, jackets, neatly crafted hair (suddenly cut short), no glitter in sight. She knows these things because everybody knew them. Everybody might not have particularly enjoyed Revelius Sparks (he seemed to be... too much of... everything, you know?), but everybody knew who he was. Although, apparently, life goes on after high school and people usually turn out to be much more than one dimensional paper dolls once given a chance (at least that's what she's heard and she's trying out new things). So, Audrey Claire stands up from her recently found seat at the coffee shop and softly taps the shoulder of the so called Revelius Sparks, who's the last one waiting in line to order something. Three times, three times barely grazing his improper, disheveled, messy, unacceptable sweater. One. Two. Three. - Hi, I'm Audrey Claire, we used to go to the same high school. It's utterly absurd, the statement, considering how they were the souvenirs of that very same high school weeks not decades ago. Revelius Sparks doesn't seem to acknowledge the absurdity. His eyes are glossy and his cheeks are lightly freckled, she notes. - Oh, hi, I'm so happy to see you. Another absurdity, she thinks. How could you be happy to see somebody that you never properly met? Were never properly introduced to? - Nice seeing you. She mutters and turns around, ready to leave (and avoid any further discomfort). She hears him say something in response, but she's already out of the foreign lands. Task: (technically) failed.
*** She tucks her hair behind her ear a lot. The right one. Or she's been told. She's never actually picked up on it herself. Her hand holding a pen, a paper in front of her. She's only doodling various dresses, dresses she would like to own, dresses she would like to create. She might have been a designer if things were different, but even then, she isn't sure if that would have been the right thing to do. She's supposed to go to law school in the fall and be a lawyer because that's what she was always supposed to do. You are most certainly coming up with assumptions now, something like: "her parents are forcing her into it" or another cliched idea like "she's doing it to honour her late late grandfather Walt who was a lawyer back in the day". Guess what? She isn't doing any of that. Her grandfather's name is not Walt either. It's only something she's always talked about, the only thing she could see herself doing. Fancy blazers, marvellous court rooms... It all seemed extremely Audrey-like. At least, that's who Audrey Claire was at school. She never picked up on it before, just like she never picked up on the hair thing, but Audrey doesn't know how to be Audrey without school. You must think she's mad. Well, she ought to be. Who in their right mind misses school assignments and studying for exams and writing three page essays? Yes, she's going to college to learn, but it's not the same, isn't it? It's more about her future and less about getting gold stars for the sake of her future. And now, when she earned her future, she doesn't have to earn any more gold stars. That's supposed to be a good thing. That is a good thing. The drawings are nice. Fairly simple, but quite nice. She picks them all up and throws them in the pink trash can beside her desk. It's not like anybody is coming to check them out. Audrey crosses her arms, let's herself fall even deeper into the chair and closes her eyes. Next thing she knows, she's dreaming of stars. *** "She's spinning and spinning and spinning. Her dress swirling around her, her feet barely touching the ground. The grass is so green and the sun is so bright and she is spinning. People have forgotten about the beauty of the natural world but she never did. She's coming from whenever, breathing in wherever, she's dreaming of a different age. She's spinning and spinning and spinning and whole, entire, wonderful worlds are spinning along with her." Audrey Claire doesn't know why and how she ended up here. The only thing she's aware of are the words that Revelius Sparks is sharing with her and the rest of the room. She's surprised that the town theatre is open this late in the night, but then again, she's never been to one. Not as a (theoretical) adult at least. Revelius Sparks is sitting on the very edge of the stage, his leg rhythmically swaying to a beat she presumes must be the one only he is able to hear. She can't quite figure out if he's singing, reciting or acting. It might be all three. Once he's finished with his little performance, he gets up, adjusts his funny colourful scarf and smiles. The few people that are in the room are clapping, but it's obvious that he's not smiling at them. It's not that he's smiling "at no one in particular" either. It's more like he's smiling at something that should be there but tragically isn't. Audrey doesn't get up from her seat. Not even when everyone else is gone. She can't move. All she can do is think about these people and how they all were in here together for one fleeting moment. All breathing the same air, all hearing the same words. And now they all went home. They all went home to hear different words and breath different air. They all went home a tad bit different. They all went home and she's still there. *** Audrey keeps visiting the theatre. Her appearances aren't scheduled. Her legs simply decide that the only correct option is to bring her there and she goes along with it and she comes and each time she discovers another way to listen. Another way to be.
Sometimes, she doesn't even pay attention to the meaning of the words spoken by whoever is on stage. It all sounds wonderfully interesting, and the chairs are so wonderfully comfortable and she's so wonderfully there. She isn't the one to explain it, but it feels quite important. Doing something without a clear purpose. Revelius isn't always present. But when he is, he talks? sings? recites? about endless fields full of flowers, souls too free to be kept away and voices too long forgotten not to be heard. Those are all his descriptions and she remembers them because she's good at remembering and she even writes some of them down. She doesn't try to understand them and never does she go through them once they are written. But something about notebooks filled with various little words makes her feel happy and content. Revelius refers to himself as a "wanderer of flowery youths and incadescent hearts". Audrey thinks his "stage name" has no right being that long and of course she finds it (almost) unbearably preposterous but it's also kind of funny and pronouncing it out loud, when she's all alone with nobody but herself to hear, brings her immense joy. It reminds her of all those poems she had to learn for school. She never properly meets Revelius. They never talk, she never looks for him and he never notices her (or anybody else for that matter) while he's fulfilling his duty as a wanderer. They never randomly run into each other. They never have a deep conversation that magically resolves all of their respective issues. They never watch the sunset, buy each other sweet unnecessary expensive things or kiss in the rain till they're both out of breath. They never fall in love. The truth is, Audrey doesn't feel the need to meet him. She's just really really glad that he's around. *** She's dressed in black, but her freshly discovered scarf is screaming in bright yellow. The sidewalk is wet and slippery. People are walking, shouting, running, talking and exchanging. Moving. Her sparkling red suitcase is following her and her brand new shoes are ruined. Her feet are completely soaked. Her hair is a bit messy. She can feel tangled strands of it all over her face. She wasn't expecting rain today. But then again, she didn't exactly plan on paying a visit to the train station, let alone catching an actual train. The city looks different once fall comes. The leaves are crunchy and dressed in various colours. The air is colder. Everyone's cheeks are flushed. Once fall comes, people turn into portable paintings. Audrey takes a few seconds to admire the unlikely art exhibit. Her hand moves to position the scarf around her neck. Too tightly wrapped and a bit crooked it was, she thinks. Exactly three minutes pass and she's in the train, glittery notebook in hand. She doesn't open it, but she recalls the coordinates of each and every word gracing its pages. "What a wonderful collection of incadescent hearts...", she mummers under her breath and the woman across from her shots her a confused look, but Audrey doesn't notice any of it. She's too busy experiencing creations much more pleasant. She lets her head rest against the window frame.
And when her gaze welcomes the glorious landscape on the other side of the glass, her eyes are full of gold coloured stars. "You are beautiful and sad" I said finally, not looking at him when I did. "Just like your eyes. You're like a song I heard when I was a little kid, but forgot I knew until I heard it again." - Maggie Stiefvater

Evolve
Isaac Lahey fanfiction
Reader x Isaac Lahey
Prompt - This fanfiction is based loosely off of Teen Wolf Season 2, where Isaac first becomes a werewolf. You are new to Beacon Hills High School and you can’t help but develop a crush on your Chemistry partner. But how will your relationship evolve, once your crush is bitten by Derek and becomes a werewolf?
It was your first day at Beacon Hills High School.
Your mother had dragged you with her, out of the country and away from your comfortable, ordinary life in England.
You were conflicted. Part of you was excited to begin this new adventure, but the other part of you was terrified of being thrown head first into the unknown.
You walked along the fast paced corridors, looking around with curiosity at the different atmosphere of an American School. You made your way to your locker and took out the slip of paper with your locker combination on it.
You entered the code and exhaled with relief when you heard the click of the locker opening. You emptied out your bag, keeping only the books you would need for your first two classes in your bag.
You had decided to get to school early so you could get to know your surroundings and you still had time before your first class. You gazed out at the crowd of teens filling the halls, all laughing and joking with one another and you let out a long sigh.
“Classes haven’t even begun yet and you already sound fed up. That’s not a good sign.” You jump slightly at the sudden voice coming from behind you and spin around.
You were met by an amused look, and the guy smirked across at you. “Hi, you must by Y/N, the new girl from England. My names Stiles. My dads the Sheriff.” He offers his hand out to you and you shake it, glad that you had someone to talk to.
“Hi Stiles. My name is Y/N, I am from England and you sound pretty proud that your dad’s the Sheriff.” You smile at him, wanting to make a good first impression.
He laughs “Yeah, I guess you could say that. So what’s your first class?” He asks, continuing your conversation.
You pull out your class schedule, but before you can even answer, Stiles takes the paper from you and begins scanning the page. “Hey, my first class is also Chemistry, let’s go together, I can show you to the classroom!” He beams at you and you smile in return.
As you enter the classroom together, you were laughing at a joke Stiles was telling you. You were thankful that he had approached you and you were beginning to feel more at ease, until a stern voice cuts off your conversation.
“I see you’ve already latched yourself onto the new girl Stilinski? I hope you’re not planning on distracting her during my class and bringing her down to your level?” He looks down his nose at Stiles, before turning to face you. “My name is Mr Harris, I am you Chemistry teacher and I will not tolerate any misbehavior in my classroom.”
“M-my name is Y/N Y/L/N.” You stuttered, slightly intimidated by Mr Harris’s glare “And I promise to behave.”
“Yes, I know who you are Miss Y/L/N... and I will keep you to that promise. Now take your seat.”
You nodded in understanding and followed after Stiles, he pulled out the chair next to him, offering you a seat, but before you could sit down Mr Harris let out a condescending laugh. “Yeah, that’s not happening. Miss Y/L/N, please can you take a seat towards the back, next to Mr Lahey?”
You looked behind you and saw a tall, wavy haired boy look up suddenly at the mention of his name. The seat next to him was empty, so you assumed he was Lahey and you were meant to sit next to him. You looked back at Stiles and let out a small smile of apology and he smiled and shrugged in response.
You carried on walking to the back of the classroom and awkwardly sat next to the tall, wavy haired boy. He shuffled away from you slightly as you sat down and you couldn’t help but feel slightly offended. He was clearly uncomfortable having you sit next to him, but you didn’t want the rest of the year to be as awkward so you plucked up the courage to talk to him “Hi, I’m Y/N.” You introduce yourself and smile in his direction. He risks a glance at you and his eyes widen suddenly, before quickly looking a way.
You were about to look away feeling slightly defeated, until he whispers under his breath “Isaac... that’s my name.” His cheeks suddenly flush red and you’re shocked to feel a small tingling of butterflies forming in your stomach.
You tried to communicate with Isaac a few times throughout the lesson, but he would only respond if you asked him a question about the work and not once did he make eye contact with you. Usually you would find his behaviour rude, but you couldn’t help but find him endearing. Every time you spoke to him he would either play with his hair awkwardly, or a blush would form on his cheeks and you would find yourself thinking about how cute he looked.
You couldn’t help but wonder if he behaved this way with everyone, or with just you. So throughout the rest of the day, you couldn’t help but scout out the area, trying to catch a glimpse of him interacting with someone else.
You sat with Stiles and the rest of his friends at lunch. Glad that he also had some female friends you could speak to. Allison was the more welcoming of the two, but after half an hour, you could feel Lydia beginning to warm up to you. You tried to focus on the conversation at hand, desperately wanting to make a good impression and hopefully become part of the gang, but the sight of the slender boy sitting alone in the corner kept pulling away your focus.
You hear Stiles chuckle next to you, finally pulling your attention away from Isaac. You look away from him quickly and turn to face Stiles, not wanting to make it obvious you were staring. Except it was clear that the whole group had already noticed “I feel there may be a lot of actual Chemistry happening in Mr Harris’ class this year.” Stiles jokes, nudging at your arm.
You couldn’t help but blush and hit him back playfully “Yeah I agree, I could feel the sexual tension radiating between you and Mr Harris. I’m sure you’ll make a great couple.” You cause the rest of the group to laugh, glad to take the attention away from you and your obvious crush on Isaac.
It was finally time for your last class of the day and you were honestly surprised at how well your first day at Beacon Hills high School had gone. You had actually managed to make some friends and you had made a good impression in most of your classes.
You entered the classroom and looked around for an empty seat. There was no seating plan for this lesson and you noticed most students had already formed small groups and were sitting beside their friends. You spotted a free seat next to Scott and was about to approach him and ask to sit there when you noticed Isaac at the back of the classroom, with another student sitting alone in front of him.
You had noticed the other boy earlier at lunch, when you were scanning the room for Isaac and he had also been sitting alone then. You began to sypathise with him, knowing that if Stiles hadn’t approached you that morning then you might have been in the same position. Sitting alone with no one to talk to. You made up your mind and approached the large boy. “Hi I’m Y/n. Do you mind if I sit here?”
He looked up, clearly shocked that someone was communicating with him “O-oh, yeah...sure.” He responded.
You smiled warmly at him and began asking questions about himself. You found out his name was Boyd and he worked nights at the ice rink. You were glad to find him opening up to you as the lesson progressed and nearing the end of the class you were even laughing together like close friends. You couldn’t believe he had no friends at School, but he told you about how he got suspended last year for fighting, even though it was self defense and since then everyone else had been too afraid to approach him. You sort of understood why, as it was almost hard to believe Boyd was still in high school due to the sheer size of him. But luckily you hadn’t heard the false rumours about him yet and had gotten to know his true personality for yourself.
You were glad you had made another friend at school and you had gotten on that well together, that you had barely even registered Isaac sitting behind you both. However, you couldn’t help but risk a quick glance behind you before the lesson ended and you instantly made eye contact with Isaac. You swiveled around in your chair so fast you thought you had given yourself whiplash. How long had he been looking at you? Surely it was just a coincidence? Maybe he was actually looking at the board and you just thought he was looking at you? Or maybe he was just drawn to the movement of you turning around? Yeah that was probably it. I mean he had barely even looked at you during your first class. You let out a small sigh, and tried to calm down the beating of your heart.
Boyd glanced at you and smirked knowingly, passing you a note. You read it and your heart instantly began to beat out of control once again. It read ‘Isaac is a lucky guy.’ You scribbled a hasty response ‘What’s that supposed to mean?’ You thrust the note at Boyd and he leaned over and whispers in your ear “You know what it means.”
Over the next few weeks you had grown closer to both Boyd and Stiles and his group. Sadly, the one person you did want to get closer to was still barely paying you any attention and would mostly ignore you during class, unless you asked him a question about the work. That’s why, you were surprised when you showed up to your first class on Monday morning and Isaac was in his usual seat next to you. Except the aura surrounding him had completely changed, as well as his outfit and the way he was sitting. He was now sporting a black leather jacket, black jeans and converse. He was leaning back in his chair, rocking back and forth with his head held high, as he looked around the classroom. You noticed Scott glaring daggers in his direction and Stiles was looking back and forth between you and Isaac on the edge of his chair, as if he was readying himself to jump between the two of you. You looked back towards Isaac curiously and your heart skipped a beat when you noticed his dark eyes looking you over, a slow smirk beginning to form on his face.
You held your breath, not knowing how to react. He had never looked at you that way before and the seductive way he was staring at you caused your whole body to heat up. You began to walk towards him, almost as if you were in a trance. You were drawn in by his allure and you found yourself wanting to just give yourself to him there and then. You cautiously sat down beside him and it took all of your strength to greet him the same as usual “Hi Isaac. I hope you had a good weekend?” You internally screamed at how faint your voice had come out. It was so clear you had no control in this situation.
He chuckles darkly, the seductive sound causes a shiver to run through your body “My weekend was great. You could even say one of the best. But nothing compares to today...” He leans forward and whispers into your ear “This is my favourite class after all.”
You spent the rest of the lesson literally on the edge of your seat. A flood of emotions had passed through you in the space of an hour and just when you had begun to calm down, Isaac would lean in and whisper something into your ear or would “accidentally” brush his knee with yours.
You had no idea what had come over him. The quiet, shy Isaac you had come to know and like, had completely disappeared over night and was replaced with an overly confident, flirtatious persona. You had no idea which Isaac was the real one anymore, but either way you found yourself attracted to him.
You sat with Scott, Stiles, Lydia and Allison at lunch and Isaac was the main topic of conversation. “I think he’s better this way.” Lydia announced “He actually seems attractive now.”
Stiles looked at you “You better be careful Y/N, or Lydia is going to swoop in and steal your man.”
You punched Stiles lightly on his arm “He is not my man!” You turn to face Lydia “And he was attractive before! You just didn’t know the real him.” You confront her.
“And you did?” She responds “He barely even spoke two words to you before today.” She rolls her eyes at you.
You were about to respond before Scott interrupts “The main point is, he’s changed suddenly and I’d like to figure out how or why he’s suddenly acting different.” He gave the rest of the group a cryptic look and you let out a sigh.
You had a feeling there was something the rest of the group was hiding from you and you only hoped they would trust you enough soon, to be able to tell you what it was.
It was once again your last lesson of the day and you smiled at Boyd as you entered the classroom. You decided not to look at Isaac, as you couldn’t take another moment of his alluring stare.
It was only a few minutes into the class however, when you felt a sudden kick to your chair. You looked behind you and noticed Isaac's foot on the back of your seat. You turned back around and decided to ignore it. It wasn’t causing you too much of an issue and you weren’t feeling strong enough to face the new Isaac at the moment.
A few moments later you felt another kick, but you just rolled your eyes and carried on writing. However, after the fourth kick, you had had enough. You looked over your shoulder at Isaac, but he pretended not to notice and acted like he had done nothing wrong. You made eye contact with Boyd and rolled your eyes, causing him to chuckle. Isaac suddenly kicked your chair again, however this time he kicked it with some force and you were pushed harshly against your desk, bruising your ribs. You let out a grunt of pain and for a moment you were shocked that Isaac had hurt you.
However, your shock didn’t last long and you found yourself suddenly angry at his actions. You pushed your chair back with force, causing him to remove his foot from your chair and you twisted around ferociously, glaring daggers at him. For a moment he looked like the usual Isaac you had grown to like. You saw a flash of remorse and worry spread across his face and for a moment you thought he was going to apologise.
But then Boyd also turned to face Isaac protectively and you were glad to have him by your side as a trusted friend. Isaac looked towards Boyd and then back to you, a sadistic smirk slowly spreading across his face. He chuckled lightly and rolled his eyes at you, before leaning back in his chair and looking out of the window.
You had decided to sit with Boyd at lunch the next day, as you had plans to go over your history homework. You couldn’t help but glance over at the table where Isaac usually sat alone and were shocked to see him sitting beside a blonde girl. His arm draped casually over her shoulder. Did Isaac get himself a girlfriend?
You quickly looked away, not wanting to get caught staring. Especially after what went down between you two yesterday. However, Boyd had noticed you looking over at Isaac and even he seemed to be shocked at what he saw “Are Isaac and Erica dating now?!” He exclaimed.
Your eyes widened in shock “Wait, that’s Erica?!” You risked another glance over at them and quickly turned away. Both Isaac and Erica were staring in your direction, both of them smirking wildly.
You looked up at Boyd and noticed him still looking over at them. You grabbed a hold of his arm and yanked at him, causing him to look away “Why did you do that?” He asked.
You whispered harshly at him “Because you were staring! Do you want them to know we were talking about them?!”
Boyd whispered back “I don’t really care either way. And is that why you’re whispering?”
You rolled your eyes “Well I do! And yes obviously.”
Boyd began to laugh “Y/n, they’re sitting at the other end of the hall, I really doubt they can hear us.” He reasoned, no longer whispering.
You sat up straight and flipped back your hair “Yes, well... I guess you’re right.” Soon enough you were both laughing at your stupidity and you were glad for the distraction. You didn’t want to think about Isaac dating anyone else, even after how much of a jerk he was being.
Your laughter was interrupted not long after, when Scott and Stiles approached you both. “Hey Y/N, hey Boyd.” Stiles waved before sitting opposite you.
“Hey guys.” You respond “What can we do for you?”
Scott suddenly spoke up “Well actually we are here to receive the keys to the ice rink off Boyd.” He beamed at Boyd, clearly trying to charm him with a bright smile.
Boyd leaned forward “I told Stilinski it would be 50 dollars.”
Stiles moved forward to meet Boyd half way “I’m pretty sure you said it would be 20.” He slides 20 dollars across the table.
Boyd huffs and slides the notes back towards him “I said 50.” He was holding his ground. You watched the exchange with amusement.
“Okay, how about 30?” Stiles asks hopefully.
“50.” Boys responds.
Stiles sighs and gets out his wallet and counts his money “Look I’ve only got 40 and...” He searched around in his pockets and pulls out a chocolate bar “some chocolate?”
Boyd stays silent for a while, before taking a set of keys out of his pocket “Deal.” He trows the keys to Stiles and reaches for the money and chocolate bar.
“What are you guys doing at the ice rink?” You finally ask, breaking the silence.
Scott smiles at you, we are taking Allison and Lydia on a double date.” You smile back at him, before turning to Stiles, smirking slightly.
“Does Lydia know it’s a date?” You ask and he stumbles over his words.
“Not exactly, but hopefully she will realise half way through and will see it as the best date she’s ever had.” You can’t help but laugh at his optimism. “We were gonna ask if you wanted to come actually, but we thought it would be awkward if you didn’t have a date of your own...”
Scott chimed in “You’re still welcome to join us though... if you find a date.” Scott looks away sheepishly.
Stiles glances over at Isaac, who was now sitting alone “Why don’t you ask him?”
You can’t help but sigh “I probably would have, but not anymore. He’s become a real jerk and I don’t date bullies.” A sudden idea springs to mind “Hey Boyd?” Your friend turns away from counting his money from Stiles and looks at you. “Want to go on a date with me?” You ask.
Boyd lets out a laugh “Sure thing!” He exclaims excited.
Stiles lets out a low groan “Are you serious? We basically just paid him to go on a date with you!”
You and Boyd look at each other and laugh “Yeah I guess you did!” Scott and Stiles walk away in defeat “We will see you tonight!” You call after them still laughing. Boyd opens up the chocolate bar from Stiles and splits it in half, handing you a piece.
You accept it gratefully and begin eating contentedly, looking forward to your date tonight.
You picked Boyd up on your way to the Ice rink. You were meeting the rest of the gang there and you were glad that Boyd had agreed to come with you, as you wanted him to get to know your other friends and maybe even join the group himself.
Everyone else was already there when you arrived and you were impressed at Lydia’s ice skating abilities. Whilst she was spinning around on the ice like a professional ice skater, Scott was barely managing to stay upright and was grabbing hold of Allison for support. You turned to Boyd and held your hand out to him, “Care to take me on a tour of your work?” You ask and he gladly accepts your invitation. Soon enough you were both skating along the rink, laughing merrily.
After a few hours of skating around with everyone, your toes were beginning to get too cold, so you and Boyd decided to head home. You made your way out of the entrance of the ice rink and out into the car park, still laughing happily. You were glad Scott and Stiles had invited you out, needing the distraction to keep your mind off Isaac.
However, just before you reached your car. A black SUV pulled into the car park and skidded to a halt in front of you both. The driver door opened and a muscly, dark haired man got out. He began walking towards Boyd with purpose. You grabbed hold of Boyd's sleeve on instinct, slightly intimidated by the unknown man. The passenger door and one of the back doors of the car then opened and to your surprise Erica, followed by Isaac got out of the car and stood beside the dark haired man.
You couldn’t help but stare at Isaac, but after glancing in your direction once, he didn’t even look at you again. Erica, however, was smirking at you. Her full focus drawn in your direction. You glared back at her, not wanting her to think she managed to get under your skin. After a moment, you turned your attention back to the mysterious male.
He walked forward slowly “Hi Boyd, my name is Derek Hale. Is it okay if we can talk? Isaac here has told me all about you.” He gestures towards Isaac and smiles at Boyd.
You were surprised at Derek's words, why was Isaac talking to this man about Boyd?
“Erm... sure.” Boyd replies, before turning to me “Are you okay to wait here for a minute whilst we talk?”
You nod at him and look back towards Derek, who is finally acknowledging your presence “Actually, this may take a while. I can drop Boyd home, so you can go on ahead. We wouldn’t want you to stay out too late.” He smiles at you, clearly trying to be friendly. But for some unknown reason, it causes a tingle down your spine.
“I don’t mind waiting.” You say, not wanting to leave Boyd alone “I can just wait in the car if it's private-” You were about to continue when Isaac suddenly cut you off.
“Y/N. Just go home. This is none of your business.” He was so abrupt with you, that it caused a pain in your chest. He didn’t even bother to face you, but instead turned his head to the side away from you and crossed his arms in annoyance.
“Oh.. okay.” You say quietly and Erica lets out a laugh, but you decided to ignore her and instead turn to face Boyd “Are you sure you’re okay? You don’t have to stay you know.”
He smiles down at you “I’m sure it will be fine. I will just hear what they have to say.”
You smile back at him and let go of his sleeve “Okay then, but text me when you’re home?” He nods in response and you turn back towards your car. You risk one last glance at Isaac and the others, but he refuses to look at you.
“It was nice to meet you Y/N.” Derek calls after you and you smile back at him.
“Don’t worry we won’t keep your boyfriend long!” Erica calls after you, but you carry on walking to your car. Not caring enough to respond.
You received a text from Boyd an hour later, saying he had gotten home safe. You sighed in relief, and finally allow yourself to drift off to sleep.
You had planned to ask Boyd about what had happened at school the next day, but he never showed. You dropped him a text during first period in case he was just running late, but he didn’t respond.
“You know, if you keep frowning like that you’ll get wrinkles.”
You jumped at the sudden voice beside you and glance down to see Isaac with his head on the desk, facing towards you. He had been sleeping through most of the class, so you were surprised to hear him speak.
You let out a sigh and face the board, ignoring Isaac.
“Hey, don’t ignore me.” Isaac sat up suddenly, but you continued with your work.
He let out a light chuckle “You know it’s rude to ignore people...”
You quickly cut him off “If you know it’s rude to ignore people, then why did you ignore me last night?” You instantly cursed yourself for responding. He was clearly looking for a reaction and you had given him one.
He smiled darkly at you “Is that what you’re mad about? If you want me to give you attention, all you have to do is ask.” He places his hand under the desk and reaches over to put his hand on your knee.
You are frozen in place. He edges towards you, his hand slowly moving up your thigh. Your heart began to beat out of control. A range of emotions washed over you. Panic. Pleasure. Anger. Lust. You finally got your thoughts into place, just before he reached a certain private spot. You reached under the table and grabbed his hand and thrust it away from you with as much force as you could muster.
You then stood up abruptly and smacked Isaac hard across the face. The sound echoed throughout the whole class room and everyone turned to face you in shock.
Mr Harris rounded on you in an instant “Miss Y/L/N! Make your way to the headteachers office this instant!” You were about to argue, when you were cut off “And Mr Lahey, you will come see me after class. Now go.”
You picked up your stuff off of the desk and threw it into your bag, before glaring down at Isaac, who was still sitting there stunned. You then stormed out of the classroom, not bothering to look back.
Luckily you weren’t in trouble with the headteacher, after explaining what had happened. And even more surprisingly, you found yourself defending Isaac so he wouldn’t get expelled. His punishment would be a week of detention instead.
After skipping your next class, you decided to study on the bleachers. The weather was nice, and you thought a Vitamin D boost would help. You had managed to get most of your homework done and you were glad to keep yourself distracted. Your mind had been whirling with thoughts of Isaac and also worry for your friend Boyd, who had yet to text you back.
You decided to try calling Boyd, but it went straight to answer phone. You let out a heavy sigh and looked out across the field. A group of boys began sprinting across the field in their jerseys. You had completely forgotten that today they had practice for Lacrosse. Which meant the whole team, including Isaac, would be on the field. You began to pack up your homework, not wanting to bump into him, but someone called out to you, stopping you in your tracks.
“Hey Y/N!” You were glad to see Scott and Isaac coming towards you. “We heard about what happened in class, are you okay?!” Stiles asked, looking genuinely concerned.
You smiled at him, glad that you had good friends you could rely on “Yeah, I’m fine. Just an issue involving a certain someone getting a little handsy.” You nodded towards Isaac who had just made his way onto the field and was clearly trying his hardest not to look in your direction.
This time Scott spoke up “Wait, he put his hands on you?!” He was beginning to look mad and you smiled at him, trying to show him that you were okay.
“I’m fine, he only touched my leg. I stopped him before he could do anything worse.” You let out a sigh “Anyway, you guys have practice, so I’m going to go. Good luck to you both!” You patted them both on the shoulders and went to stand up.
Suddenly there were police officers on the field, being led by Stiles’s dad, the Sheriff. “I wonder what’s going on?” You say out loud.
“I don’t know.” Stiles admits.
You watched from the bleachers as Stiles’ dad approached Isaac. Suddenly Isaac was being escorted away, a shocked look on his face.
“Why are they taking Isaac?” You ask, slightly panicked.
“Because his dad was murdered.” Scott answers “And they think he’s a suspect.”

If you’re still doing summer prompts, could you do graduation for newmann?
15. Graduation
from (the very old) summer prompts meme here
enjoy some awkward pre-canon jaeger academy ~ROOMMATES~!! also I am pretty sure this message/prompt is from at least a year ago (if not TWO) but it was only today that I really thought about what I wanted to write for it and wrote in like a FRENZY. content warning for alcohol (no like intoxication tho)
--------
It was hardly to be expected that Newton would be mature over the whole thing, but Hermann finds himself in a perpetual state of agitation the final weeks of their enrollment at the Jaeger Academy anyway. Newton was very young, Hermann knows, when he graduated from university (at least he was young the first time he graduated), and he can only assume the man took it rather hard that he didn’t get to have the proper send-off he thought he deserved—all-night parties with kegerators and beer pong, one-dollar shots at dive bars, trips to the seaside with classmates. One wasn’t likely to invite someone who’d barely breached his teens and still had braces to those sorts of things, after all. It’s the only reason Hermann can think of as to why Newton has spent the month—the whole month—popping open champagne at all hours and organizing spin-the-bottle in the base rec room and generally being a great bloody nuisance to everyone they have the misfortune of sharing their graduating class with. Over-compensation is what it is.
Having Newton as his bunkmate adds a special level of unbearableness to it all. At least—and Hermann does thank the stars above for this—tomorrow marks the end of a very miserable month. A very miserable two years.
“Everyone is going to be there,” Newton says. He’s wearing an oversized pair of neon sunglasses over his regular glasses, for some reason, those abhorrently dated kind with the slatted lenses, and dangling from his left hand are two bottles of pink champagne. A bag of plastic cups dangles in the other. “Everyone. Not even just the k-scientists—the techs, the ranger trainees, the—”
“That all sounds very thrilling,” Hermann says, hefting a stack of button-ups into a cardboard box he’s labeled Clothing – Gottlieb. “You’re aware, I assume, that we’re meant to be moving out tomorrow, and you’ve not touched anything on your side of the room?”
“Dude, I have sooo much time,” Newton says. Hermann realizes now the seal on one of the champagne bottles is broken—which might explain some of Newton’s suspiciously carefree mood. “Besides, I barely even have that much shit here.”
This is patently untrue. Newton’s clothing is overflowing from his dresser; manga and monster action figures and vinyl records clutter up every inch of its top surface; there’s laundry under his bed, on his bed, his guitar picks on Hermann’s bedside table, dirty mugs on his own, half-finished reports and articles scattered over his desk… “Fine,” Hermann says. “But I haven’t finished, at any rate, so I won’t be joining you.”
Newton flops down next to him on his bed; the stopper on the opened champagne bottle wobbles dangerously, and Hermann moves quickly to push it in more firmly so he doesn’t have to add a load of bed linens to his To-Do list. “I think you need to unwind, roomie,” Newton says, grinning up at him. Both pairs of his glasses have slipped off his nose and onto Hermann’s bedspread. “We’ll have all day tomorrow after the dumb ceremony to pack, and you haven’t taken a break in, like, seven years. You’ve earned one.”
Hermann doesn’t want to take a break, or at least not in the way Newton is suggesting. Hermann wants to finish packing up his half of the room, then his designated workspace in the large k-science laboratory, and then take a shower to wash himself of the experience of being Newton Geiszler’s roommate and labmate for two years too many. Noticing his reticence, Newton adds, pleadingly, “Come for one hour? Just to do two shots with me? One shot?” He blinks, half-blind without his glasses, as if trying to discern whether or not Hermann looks likely to give in. “No shots? C’mon, Hermann, you owe me.”
“Owe you?” Hermann says, frowning.
Newton nudges him with the stack of plastic cups. “Y’know—for the sake of your ol’ penpal,” he says.
The reference to their letter-writing days jars Hermann, and despite his best efforts not to show it to Newton, his hand trembles as he deposits an unopened pack of white socks into his laundry box. He thinks it may be the first time either of them have brought it up in the entirety of their time at the Academy. It’s certainly the first time either of them have admitted to even the slightest notion of a shared history since—a week into their first year here, at an ice-breaking event for their kaiju-science peers—Newton had rolled his eyes exaggeratedly when someone attempted to introduce him to Hermann and said “Yeah, Dr. Gottlieb and I go wayyyy back.” Hermann did not admit so at the time, but the use of the honorific in place of his first name had been unexpectedly wounding—ridiculous of him, considering he made a point of referring to Newton in precisely the same way. Perhaps that little slip of the tongue had been why they were assigned as roommates scarcely a week later. An assumed friendship.
Hermann picks up Newton’s thick eyeglasses and carefully slips them back onto Newton’s upside-down face. Newton wrinkles his nose when Hermann’s thumb accidentally brushes against its tip. “I just don’t like parties very much, Newton,” he says. He’s not sure when Dr. Geiszler became Newton to him, or rather, became Newton to him again.
“Then we can do something together here,” Newton says.
He sits up and pushes the sealed champagne bottle at Hermann’s chest. “This is for you, anyway. Graduation present. Bury the hatchet, you know—odds are pretty fucking high we’re never gonna see each other again, so there’s no use hating each other forever.”
In spite of his better judgement, Hermann takes the champagne bottle. One drink won’t hurt him. And anyway, it might be a little relaxing—so long as it’s one drink only, because he still has an entire two years’ worth of research to pack away in his laboratory desk. “Do you know where you’re being assigned already, then?” he says. He was under the impression they wouldn’t find out until after the ceremony tomorrow—bit last minute, he supposes, but it’s not as if they’re making their own travel arrangements, and nearly all of their colleagues have already brought their families along with them to the Academy base.
“Nah,” Newton says, “but I wrote down a lot on my request form.” He motions for Hermann to hand him back the bottle, and he begins unscrewing the wire holding down the cork. “Tokyo—Peru—" He moves the bottle away from the bed as he pops it open with a grunt of effort, and a small bit of foam spills to the cement floor. Hermann grits his teeth and tries not to worry about cleaning it up later. “—Los Angeles. I worked on one of my PhDs in California, you know, a few weeks one July. Sea sponges. I learned how to scuba dive, I loved it—I think that’s one of the first things I’m gonna do if—once this is all over.”
He looks strangely maudlin as Hermann pours himself some champagne into one of the plastic cups and suffers through a sip. Too sweet. Hermann’s never liked sweet wines—bloody awful hangovers the next day, if one isn’t careful.
“Their entire ecosystem would be destroyed now, I guess,” Newton says. “Kaiju blue poisoning.”
“Whose?” Hermann says.
“The sea sponges’,” Newton says.
Hermann sips more of the champagne so he won’t have to respond. “I requested Anchorage,” he offers. Among plenty others, but he knows Newton will get a kick out of ribbing him for the dreary Alaskan climate. It seems to work—Newton lights up at once with a loud snort.
“Of course you did, ya weirdo,” he says. “Have fun freezing your ass off.” He takes a sip right from his bottle, then holds it out to Hermann. “Well, Hermann—you were an annoying lab partner, an even more annoying roommate, but a decent penpal, and I’m—well, I’m not gonna miss you, but I guess I can’t say I hate everything about you. Good luck with the jaegers. Good luck to whoever gets stuck with you next, actually, yikes, don’t envy them! Here’s to never seeing each other again.”
Hermann rolls his eyes, but knocks his plastic cup against Newton’s bottle. “Best of luck to you, as well,” he says. “And here’s to—well, surviving.”
“That’s cheerful,” Newton says.
They drink to their toast. Down the hall, someone puts on loud music to a chorus of equally loud cheers. Hermann reckons that’ll be Newton’s party. “You ought to head over there,” he says, turning briefly to glance at their door, which Newton has left cracked open. “Otherwise, they’ll miss—”
Newton kisses him.
Hermann doesn’t necessarily kiss back, but he doesn’t push Newton away, either. He’s more bewildered than anything. He might’ve expected this sort of thing to happen years ago—years, and years ago, before that dreadful first meeting in some dingy little Berlin coffee shop, back when a new letter from Dr. Geiszler slipped through his mail slot could make his heart thud like nothing else—but they’ve hardly been anything to each other but colleagues these past two years. Not even quite colleagues—that implies a civility they don’t possess. Professional academic rivals. He was under the impression that the man hated him, that the data when they underwent standard tests for drift compatibility was merely a fluke.
His empty cup falls from his hand and clatters to the floor. Newton slides a hand up Hermann’s jaw and keeps kissing him; he makes a small, needy noise into Hermann’s mouth.
“Newton,” Hermann finally mumbles. “What are you doing?”
Newton pulls back. A brilliant red flush is creeping steadily across his face, and he opens and closes his mouth a few times before anything comes out. “Oh, shit,” he says. “I didn’t mean—”
He stumbles to his feet. “Shit, dude, I’m sorry, I like—”
“Newton?” Hermann repeats. He feels about as dazed as Newton looks; he’s not quite sure what he’s meant to say. His lips are tingling from the kiss. “I—?”
“I’m gonna go to the party,” Newton stammers. “Sorry, dude, I—misread signals? I guess? Um—” He steps on Hermann’s forgotten cup and skids slightly, catching and righting himself on one of Hermann’s bed posts. The movement knocks Hermann’s cane (hooked there) to the floor, and Newton must bend down twice before he succeeds in picking it up. “Just—um—okay, bye.”
Hermann stares at the door for a long time after Newton leaves. Tomorrow marks the end of their two years cohabitating and working together—as Newton said, odds are high their paths will never cross again. Hermann had been counting down the days to their graduation in a little calendar he keeps pinned neatly to his wall, daydreaming endlessly of the first thing he would do once he was free from the suffocating cloud of Newton Geiszler’s presence—daydreaming of the like-minded non-Geiszlerian colleagues he would meet at his Shatterdome assignment, of a neat and orderly laboratory devoid of kaiju residue over every communal surface, of his own living quarters. He should be excited. He should be ecstatic.
Hermann touches his mouth and feels nothing but strange sort of hollowness in his chest—a black hole enveloping all else.
---
He doesn’t see Newton until their graduation ceremony the next day, an affair made all the more awkward by the seating chart’s alphabetical arrangement ensuring Drs. Geiszler and Gottlieb will be knocking elbows for the full two hours. Newton is late by nearly twenty minutes, and rushes in with badly unkempt hair and a backwards tie: Hermann has a feeling he’d been lurking outside their quarters and waiting for Hermann to leave before he dared dart in to get himself ready. He wonders where Newton spent the night. He wonders why he even cares. Likely passed out on the rec room floor after the party, judging from the confetti stuck to his left cheek—or perhaps he’d finally made a move on the fellow kaiju-biologist Hermann recalls him extolling the physicality of on more than one occasion, and spent the night with him—or perhaps he did neither, and merely wandered the base for hours, sleep evading him as it’d so entirely evaded Hermann. They don’t acknowledge each other for the whole of the ceremony.
Hermann is summoned to the office of the jaeger science program head (a severe woman with short hair) later that evening, shortly after he finishes taping up his very last box of papers in the vacant laboratory. He’s handed a small manila folder containing the details of his Shatterdome assignment: Hong Kong, as it turns out. One of his requests. “Since you and Dr. Newton Geiszler have displayed a strong work ethic when partnered together,” the woman begins, “as well as a very high level of drift compatibility—”
Hermann’s eyes snap up from his folder to her face.
“—we’ll be assigning him to Hong Kong’s kaiju science division along with you, under the assumption that together you will only continue to produce positive results.”
“Pardon?” Hermann says, weakly.
Newton has finished boxing up a majority of his belongings when Hermann drags himself through the door to their quarters an hour later. He glances at Hermann briefly, embarrassedly, and says, in a small voice, “Hey, Hermann.”
“Newton,” Hermann says.
He walks over and sits down heavily atop the pile of sheets on his stripped bed. Something pokes at his thigh, and he sets aside his cane to fumble through the sheet bundle to discover what: Newton’s forgotten neon shuttered shades. The sight of them sends his stomach twisting up in knots. “Oh, hey,” Newton says, as he wraps a Godzilla action figure with bubble wrap. He nods at the manila envelope clenched between Hermann’s fingers. “Where are they shipping you off to? I’m going to Hong Kong—should be cool. I’ve never been before.” He places the little Godzilla in a carboard box. Newt - Junk! the side says in purple Sharpie. “My flight leaves tomorrow afternoon—you’re right, I definitely should’ve started packing earlier, I have no idea how I’m gonna get this all done by then.”
Hermann stares at Newton in poorly-concealed amazement as he continues to ramble on about how to pack up his instruments and whether or not they’ll let him bring his first-ever kaiju sample with him (he’s attached to it, even though he knows it’s technically the academy’s property, but maybe he can find a way to smuggle it out in his checked bags or something). Does he not know? Did they not tell him? How could they let this fall on Hermann? “Newton,” he says, slowly. “I’ve been assigned to Hong Kong, too.”
Newton freezes. “No fucking way,” he says.

beauty as a perspective (or a study of truth through the lens of a boy who has always believed in fairy-tales)
anon: And it is beautiful with Hinata First love with kageyama? Please :)
101. and it is beautiful hinata ; 1.8k words
there are so many things he considers to be beautiful -- the sunrise, the sunsets, the way the moon lingers on the horizon after a whole midsummer’s night, like it’s waiting for the first rays of sunlight to spill across the world, the way the stars are relentless in their twinkling, as if emboldened by the darkness that beholds their very beings -- that they are made all the brighter by night’s all-consuming dark.
there are other things too -- a well-aimed spike, crystal cut and down the line, right next to the pole, a perfectly arched toss, slow enough for thought, but too fast for the opponents to follow, the double-rolling saves that noya-sempai had promised to teach him and still hasn’t gotten around to, the way a clean sneaker sounds against the well-waxed floor of a freshly cleaned gym, the sound of a volleyball meeting skin, the flutter of a net, the chorus of voices as it echoes towards the ceiling.
the cheers of the crowds when a point gets scored. when a match is won.
the weight of happiness, so light and yet so, so heavy too, enough to make his bones feel like they’re filled with gold or silver or maybe magic itself. he thinks there’s nothing more beautiful than playing... and winning.
until he meets you.
your name breezes through him like a summer wind through wheat, leaving no part of him unruffled and untouched, all this thoughts tangled and out of ordered, but so beautifully so. he watches you go like a child watching the end of a really good dream, powerless to stop it, but still with the naïve hope that perhaps, if he just kept his eyes open (or closed) for a moment longer, maybe, just maybe you’ll stay --
“hinata-kun, its your turn to help clean the classrooms.”
he snaps out of his reverie (did you know that’s the word for daydream in french? how fitting, right? and when tsukki had asked, drop-jawed and all, where the hell hinata had learned such a thing, all he could do was shrug and blush and say he’d read it somewhere -- to tsukki’s compounded shock and confoundment), the teacher is watching him with a hiked eyebrow, and half the class was giggling. but you, you’re standing next to his desk with a sweet, expectant smile and he’s lost all over again.
(who was he, anyway? before he knew what your smile looked like? what your voice sounds like? what the color of your hair was beneath the morning sun, or in the golden glow of dusk?)
“let’s do our best, hm?” you offer him your hand.
hinata had never wished for after class chores to last forever, but he has now.
he doesn’t know how you get onto the topic of volleyball, but it always ends up there somehow... with him -- and he finds himself rambling like he always does when he’s nervous, blabbing out an invite because yeah! it’s pretty cool! and there’s a practice match today! and oh, yeah! i’m on the starting lineup and of course you can come watch! i’m super awesome y’know! --
and then the horrifying, daunting realization that he’s going to have to play. with you watching him. with your eyes, like pools of amber so deep and clear they remind him of melted caramel during the holiday school fairs, with your smile like tasting a favorite treat after a long, hard day’s practice, with your laughter and your voice like -- like --
“what’s this? hinata’s brought a friend?” there’s something in the texture of suga-sempai’s voice that hinata isn’t sure he likes but he’s too nervous to call it out at the moment. instead, he tries desperately to explain why the hell he’d brought you along, not that he’s really sure either, other than the fact that he doesn’t ever want you to leave his sight ever again in his whole life but, well, he can’t really say that out loud without sounding like a freak --
“uh -- it’s not -- i mean, yeah! we’re friends! i think so at least -- well anyway -- ahhhhh -- she likes volleyball and there’s a practice match today and i told her she could come and watch cause i’m really awesome at it and she just moved here from tokyo, or actually she stayed in france for a while before that! can you believe it? hey -- wait do you know kenma from nekoma? they’re from tokyo too, right --?”
kageyama fixes him with a flatlined look even as you smile.
“she’s not from the same school, idiot.”
hinata puffs up as he turns to kageyama but thankfully, daichi is there to pull them apart before things get really nasty. he flashes you a sincere and somewhat apologetic grin.
“ah, thanks for coming. you can find a seat up there, and uhm -- welcome to karasuno.”
hinata finds himself watching you go (he nearly yells when you wave at him from the second level, that is until kageyama elbows him so hard in the side he actually does yell).
“focus, boke!”
“shut up, crappyama!”
“ha? what did you say?”
“both of you, quiet!”
they both flinch at the sound of daichi’s voice.
but hinata can’t help stealing another glance towards you, thinking that this feels different, somehow. different than all the other practice matches he’s played before. it’s like his vision is sharper, all his senses on high alert -- he can smell the sweat on his teammates’ skin, can see each spec of light as it refracts off of the newly waxed gym floors, can feel the weight of your eyes on him like a superhero’s cloak -- beautiful and full of responsibility.
and he plays well that day, he thinks -- got a few really solid quick’s in, and he only messed up on two of his serves, which, all things considered, is probably a record low for him. kageyama only yelled at him five times, also on the low side.
they manage to scrape a win, and it was mostly asahi-san’s doing -- noya-sempai being awesome as ever, too. still, he thinks it’s been a good day. he almost forgets that you’re watching for a while, but only for a while, and as the match draws to a close, he’s again keenly aware of your eyes on him.
he turns to grin up at you, shooting you a thumbs up. he finds you no longer sitting, but standing by the railings, your eyes huge and happy as you wave down at him. there’s a flush to your face that makes him want to walk off a bridge right into a very, very cold river but he shelves that thought for later as you make your way down the stairs, jogging right up to him, your smile so brilliant he thinks he might go blind if he stared too long.
he blinks, still dripping sweat down his now very wet uniform.
“shouyou! you were amazing! i mean, you are amazing --!”
he almost jolts at your use of his given name, but then he remembers you asking (because you liked the sound of it or something; he’d forgotten what you said after that cause he was too busy marinating in the fact that you liked the sound of his name) if you could call him that. and him saying yes.
“for a while there it looked like you were flying, like really flying!”
he nods along with your excitement, his smile growing so wide his cheeks are starting to hurt and god, what what happen if he just kept on smiling wider and wider? what would happen to his face? would it stretch and keep on stretching? or maybe he’ll accidentally split his face in half and have to get stitches from the hospital, which wouldn’t be fun but for you, he thinks, it’s worth it.
“y-yeah! cool! right?” he leaps ups as if to illustrate, but as with all things he does on a spur of the moment impulse, it doesn’t go quite as planned. he ends up smacking his head on the doorframe of double gym doors, leaving him whining, curled up into a ball on the ground, and you kneeling by his side.
“shouyou? are -- are you okay? oh my god, what happened?”
he winces as he pushes himself up into a sitting position, grinning awkwardly up at you.
“i wanted to show you!”
“show me what?”
“what it looks like to fly!”
tanaka is fussing over hinata, loudly asking if he’ll get a concussion while tsukki is remarking to that getting a concussion might be good for him; noya and tanaka are both laughing so hard they’re also curled up on the ground.
you giggle, “save some flying for next time.”
“for... next time?”
“yeah, for the next time you play.”
“will... will you be there?”
you smile, nodding, offering him a hand.
“if you want me to be.”
“yes! yeah -- oh man, i do! i really really --”
“good, then i’ll be there.”
“aahh, that’s amazing! super great! ahhhh i’m so --- mmmm -- i’m so happy!”
he leaps up and is about to jump up again before he realizes you hadn’t let go of his hand yet.
he blinks, heat washing up his face like jumping head-first into a steaming onsen.
“hey! you said you’d save some for next time, right?”
hinata laughs, “right -- for next time.”
you give his hand a squeeze before letting go, turning to greet his teammates. hinata watches you, like he’s been doing from the second he’d set eyes on you a week and a half ago, when you’d introduced yourself to the class.
like when he’d all too enthusiastically volunteered to show you around the school, like when the pair of you had stopped in the library, and you’d run your fingers along the spines of all the books like greeting old friends.
like when you flipped open a book of fairy-tales and traced the outline of a boy with melting wax wings, plummeting from the sky.
“you know, i used to always daydream about flying as a kid,” you said.
hinata quirked his head, “why?”
you smiled, “dunno, seemed like a fun thing to do.”
hinata smiled then too, “well, it’s not that hard.”
you looked at him, “you... know how to fly?”
“sure i do!”
you laughed, then, but not a mocking kind of laugh -- a delighted, dancing kind of laugh that made hinata’s whole chest fill with hot air and helium.
“you promise to show me some day?”
hinata had nodded so hard his head might’ve come right off it’s hinges.
“hey, what’s ‘daydream’ in french?” he asked.
you blink at him, “reverie.”
“wow... beautiful.”
you laughed again, nodding, “it is, isn’t it?”
and he decides then, watching as you smile at something suga-sempai says, as you quirk your head curiously at kageyama, making him flush a hilarious shade of crimson as well, that sure, there are a lot of beautiful things in this world.
but none of them quite so beautiful as you.

caffeinated love
pairing: nishinoya yuu x reader
genre: fluff, slight angst
tags: coffee shop!au, barista!noya, noya & reader being whipped for each other
a/n: dedicated to my beautiful, loving, sweet and supportive wife @chibishae34 💖💞❤️💕 i hope you liked this surprise and i did your bb noya justice! :c
it was a perfectly sunny day.
it was too perfect, you might add. the scene in front of you could easily fit into a studio ghibli movie, the only thing missing are the animated characters, and the soft piano music that usually accompanied the films.
you don't know what made you look at life with rose-colored lenses today, it might be because you're in a good mood, or you woke up on the right side of the bed, or the wind just brought some positive air to you. whatever it is, you're thankful for it.
you're walking around campus with a skip on your steps, a smile on your face as you grinned at the people you passed and the surroundings. to some people, it might come off as creepy, or even weird, but no one is going to ruin your mood today. not when you're so close to having your coffee.
a bigger smile tugged at your lips, looking up at the café in front you – its bold, intricate sign you're familiar with and the welcoming aura beckoning you in.
Crows' Cabin.
your favorite café that serves the best coffee ever in your campus. you couldn't have asked for more. they got your coffee right, the perfect amount of sweetness, the tinge of bitterness, and the smooth feel of the cream like a warm blanket on a cold day. not to mention, their staff is pretty welcoming and friendly, too.
what you loved most about this place is the fact that you can study in peace and the fast wi-fi that they have. it has the perfect atmosphere to do a little studying while you sip your coffee.
walking inside, you pushed the doors open, letting it emit a small ringing sound as it announces your arrival. the usual silver-haired cheery guy that greets you when you come in isn't standing in his usual post. instead, a short guy with bleached streaks greeted you with a lively energy that almost shocked you to the core.
you can't help but think how cute he looks, and walked closer cautiously to the counter.
“hello! welcome to crows' cabin! what can i getcha, cutie?” he gave you a big grin, leaning on the counter with his arm. you blinked in surprise, taken aback by his ecstatic greeting and chuckling lightly.
“hey, uh...is sugawara not here?” you probably sounded rude, but if there's a new guy on his stead, you could only guess that he's going to get your coffee wrong. at least, that's what you think.
he let out a humming sound, his face scrunching up as he thinks with his index finger and thumb under his chin. your heart skipped a beat. he couldn't get any cuter.
“i heard sugawara changed shifts because of his hectic schedule and all,” he explained, waving his arms about. “but you're lucky you're stuck with me! so, what do you want? coffee, tea, or me?” he gave you a wink after his question.
despite the nag of disappointment at the news of sugawara not being able to take your order anymore, it was quickly replaced by giddiness at the presence of this energetic boy in front of you.
before you could answer, however, the other staff with shaved hair that you quickly recognized as tanaka ryuunosuke, emerged from the kitchen and shook his head at his co-worker's antics.
“oi, stop flirting with the customer and take their order already!” he scolded, slapping the boy with the small towel he's holding on the head, earning a yelp.
“ukai-san won't be happy to know that you're trying to pick up chicks while on the job, you know.” tanaka's quip made your cheeks heat up. although, it seemed like the smaller guy is flirting with you, it was probably how he greets all the customers that comes in the café.
yet, the thought of him asking you out isn't too bad at all.
he's pretty attractive, you'll admit that. he's got mesmerizing, big, brown eyes that looks like it can pierce through your soul the longer you looked at them, and not to mention his fiery personality that greeted you the moment you entered.
“i can't help it, ryuu. they just looked so cute! who am i to deny our pretty customer our special service?” he wiggled his eyebrows at you suggestively. god, you wanted the ground to swallow you whole.
“leave the poor customer alone, idiot. look at them, they're too red already!” it definitely didn't help that tanaka made a comment on how flustered you seem to get over his co-workers flirtatious advances.
“i-i'll get the usual, please...” you managed to croak out despite the embarrassment you felt, immediately sliding the exact amount to the counter.
the boy tilted his head at you in confusion, “the usual...?”
oh, right. he's new.
ignoring your flushed cheeks and rapidly beating heart, you murmured how you liked your coffee all the while his piercing gaze is intently staring at you, giving you his undivided attention while you explain your order passionately.
“uh, no– wait, that's probably too complicated. i'll just get that one instead–” he waved his hand dismissively at your panicked ramblings.
“nah, no need. i already memorized your order, angel face.” with one final wink at you, he went to the back to prepare your coffee.
“why don't you settle in and get comfortable while i prepare your drink?” he called over his shoulder.
tanaka could only watch the commotion with fond, proud gaze as he went back to his own station.
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
during the afternoon, the crows' cabin don't have many patrons unlike in the mornings and evenings. usually, they were back in their classes or offices, and sometimes will only grab a quick bite before heading out.
this is the most peaceful moment, in your opinion, in the café. you hummed along to the song playing on the speakers as you typed away for your essay that is due tomorrow. yeah, it might not be healthy to cram when it's due tomorrow, but with how busy you are, can you really blame yourself?
what's important is you're doing it now instead of putting it away and procrastinating like you always do.
your fingers stopped typing as you gazed out the window, thinking of what to write next. amid the staring absently at nothingness, the boy from the counter approached you. he placed the cup from the tray beside you on a coaster.
“thanks, uh...” shoot, you didn't get his name. you don't remember tanaka mentioning it, too.
he seemed to have read your mind as he laughed, eyes crinkling at the sides as he threw his head back. you can't help but stare at him, he's such a ball of sunshine. any moment now and you're sure your heart will burst because of this guy.
“my name's nishinoya yuu, nice to meet you, uhm...” he stretched his hand out, which made you chuckle. you accepted it, shaking his hand as you introduced yourself.
nishinoya rubbed the back of his head, his cheeks flushing, “that's a pretty name.” he murmured, eyes casting off to the side as the thought of how warm and soft your hands are overtaking his mind.
before he could get carried away, he cleared his throat and looked at you expectantly.
“anyway, i'm excited about what you think of the coffee i made!” he bounced on his heels from where he stood, excitement jittering his bones.
rolling your eyes playfully, you cracked a smile at his excited expression and brought the cup to your lips to take a sip.
time seemed to have stopped as nishinoya watched you take another sip of coffee. you, on the other hand, couldn't believe that he made it just how you like it despite the first time making it for you. the slight smirk didn't escape your notice as you let out an appreciative hum upon the taste.
“so?” he leaned a little close to you, anticipation written all over his cute face.
“i gotta hand it to you, nishinoya. you did well, maybe even better than sugawara’s,” his chest seemed to puff up at your praise which you found endearing. so he likes to be complimented.
“of course! who else can make your coffee if not also the best barista in crows' cabin?” he boasted, thumbs pointing at himself. you can't help the laughter that bubbled out of you. he's such a refreshing presence in such a familiar place. and you're here for it.
he felt his heart clench as he smiled at your laughing figure, one thought only occupying his mind: he wanted to see you smile and laugh more.
he glanced at the clock on the wall, noticing that it'd be a few hours left before his shift ends and until then he still has a lot to do. even if it makes him sad, he has to go back to work and part from you. although, he hopes not permanently.
“anyways, enjoy your coffee! don't work too hard! and uh, call me yuu.” he gave you one last smile before he went back behind the counter.
yuu.
his name kept repeating over and over inside your head, a smile on your face as you looked down at your cup of coffee.
you're definitely going to keep coming back here.
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
the next time you went back to the café, nishinoya perked up like an overexcited dog. his face immediately lit up at the sight of you. the relief that washed over you was something that you kept thinking about as you made your way to the counter, a grin splitting your face.
why were you so glad to find out that he's here?
“hey, it's you again. how are you doing today?” he greeted, already buzzing to life at the mere sight of you.
“i'm great, actually. and you?”
“it's been a long day, but it's all better now that you're here, cutie.” he chuckled at the way you became flustered in seconds after he called you a pet name.
“you're not too bad yourself, yuu. i'll take–”
“–the usual. i already memorized it, remember?” he replied, seeing the puzzled look on your face.
“right. yeah, sorry.” you facepalmed yourself softly, shaking your head at your forgetfulness. “it's just...i've been working too hard so i probably forgot,”
“i have just the thing, now go get cozy and i'll bring your drink!”
you took that as your cue to find your seat. today was pretty hectic for you, especially since you have to catch up to the nearing deadlines. taking a seat, you immediately opened up your laptop and began to work.
not half an hour later, a cup was placed in front of you, along with nishinoya sitting at the opposite chair which made you quirk an inquisitive eyebrow at the boy.
“what are you doing?”
“it's okay, i have my break at this time.” he then placed a bag beside your laptop, “on the house, a little birdie told me that it's your favorite,” he sheepishly rubbed at his nape, avoiding your gaze.
opening the bag, you find out that it's one of your favorite pastries inside. you can't help the soft gasp leaving your mouth at the kind gesture.
“oh, thank you so much! i've been craving these lately.” you gave him a grateful smile, biting down on your favorite treat. it still tasted just as good, but what really warmed your heart was the thought of nishinoya purposely asking sugawara for your favorite pastry and you can't help but add it to one of the things you like about him.
wait...like?
you couldn't help but choke at your own thoughts to which nishinoya shot you a concerned look. once you calmed down, you noticed that he kept glancing back at the wall clock then back at you then down at his fiddling hands.
“what's wrong?” you asked through a mouthful of food. yuu chuckled at the sight and shook his head.
“can i borrow a pen?” confused, you gave him one anyway. he grabbed the bag that your food was placed in, scribbling on it.
“thanks, i gotta go back now. break's over. bye!” he jogged back to his station and you were left weirded out by his actions. not only when you were preparing to leave the café did you notice the small note at the other side of the paper bag.
nishinoya yuu
xxx-xxx-xxx :)
you exited the café with your stomach and heart feeling full.
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
“do you think they liked the treat? will they even text back?” nishinoya paced back and forth in their small staff room.
“what if they didn't read the note?!” he gasped, stopping in his tracks as he bites his nails in anxiety.
sugawara laughed at his junior's predicament, “relax! of course they'd love the treat, i did tell you it was their favorite. as for the number, you should probably be a little more patient with that, noya.” he advised, placing an assuring hand on noya's shoulder.
as if possessed by a spirit, nishinoya perked up and his agitated self was replaced with determination.
“you're right. i shouldn't worry about it too much. they'll come around!” as soon as he said that, his phone's ringtone resonated in the small space.
on his screen was an unknown number and he immediately knew it's you.
without wasting another moment, nishinoya picked up the phone and answered the call.
“h-hello, y/n?” he internally cursed at himself for stuttering.
“–john? is that you? how's your mother–”
dumbstruck, nishinoya abruptly ended the call and placed his phone on the table.
“what happened? what did they say?” sugawara inquired, eager to know what happened between the two.
“it's not them.” nishinoya deflated like a balloon, covering his face with his palms.
was he reading this right? what if you don't see him that way? what if he was just forcing himself on you and in reality you don't really reciprocate the emotions he felt whenever you enter the café?
with a little more positivity from his seniors and tanaka telling him that he shouldn't lose hope, nishinoya decided to go home feeling less energetic than usual.
it was not around midnight that he received a call from an unknown number. he hated that he felt excited, that maybe, just maybe at the other end it was you.
picking it up slowly, he breathed in and out, counting to five before he answered the call.
“hello, yuu? it's y/n. sorry i called at a time like this,”
his eyes lit up at the sound of your familiar voice. even through the phone it sounded as beautiful as ever.
he almost stumbled over the scattered clothes and mess that littered his bedroom floor when it is indeed you that called him, landing on his bed.
“y/n? it's really you! uh, don't worry about it. i'm not sleeping yet...totally not because i was waiting on you or anything!”
your laughter brought butterflies fluttering in his stomach, oh how he'd love to hear that sweet sound everyday. it got him smiling too as he listened to it.
“i'm sorry for making you wait. i was just busy with my studies and all...but, i've decided.”
“decided...on what?”
there was a pregnant pause on the other end, he thought that you might ended the call or something. but then you spoke up again.
“i wanna go on a date with you.”
he must be in heaven because there is no way in hell or earth that you'd want to go on a date with him. you, who looks so pretty, beautiful, elegant and charming that he's having a hard time if you're actually real. you, who never fails to make his days a little better at work whenever you waltzed in and decided to grace him with your presence. you, with your complicated mixture of coffee that he memorized in favor of impressing you and in hopes that you come back again to the café.
he couldn't believe it.
“y-yeah? that's great! so, when are you free?”
“i was thinking maybe saturday? if that's alright with you?”
“that's fine with me! i actually have a day off on saturday. same time? at the cafe?”
he can't help the grin that's practically splitting his face in half but he's just so happy. he immediately caught feelings for you the moment you walked inside crows' cabin and he can't get you out of his mind since.
the same thing can be said about you, which the only reason you're actually studying in the café and keep coming back there was for a whole another reason other than coffee. heck, you even find yourself thinking of him whenever you drink the beverage.
with a lovestruck look on your face, you nodded even though he couldn't see it.
“yeah, that would be great.”
꘎♡━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━♡꘎
when saturday came, to say that you were nervous and jittery would be an understatement. you can't stop looking at yourself in the mirror or literally any surface that you have a reflection on to make sure that you looked nice and presentable on your date with noya.
and due to that fact, you didn't notice him walking up to you, all smiles and looking as cute and handsome as ever.
“ready to go?” he asked, offering his elbow to you which you gladly accepted.
“where are we going?”
“it's a surprise,” he teased, flashing you a mischievous smile.
you went along with it. the two of you walked, stopped for some food and talked about what you both liked, disliked, and how he got the job at crows' cabin.
“–so i told ukai-san that i really need the money! i was actually just saving up for the new game i saw down the street but i made it sound like it's a life or death situation if he wouldn't hire me. in the end, i loved working there. i mean,” he gestured to the two of you, “because of it, i finally went on a date with a wonderful person!”
chuckling at him, you playfully pushed his shoulder.
“shut up,” you grumbled.
you can't help but admire him. the way he animatedly tell his stories with his own sound effects and grand gestures that never fails to make you laugh and rope you in with the story. he's fun to hang out with, knows a lot of stuff about the neighborhood and won't run out of tales.
“ah! we're here!” he paused walking to stop in front of your designated place.
he brought you to the movies.
“oh, wow...i didn't expect that,” you laughed sheepishly, trying not to offend him.
“i figured we'd watch a movie. ryuu said that there's this new horror movie that's a blockbuster nowadays,” quickly catching on to his plan, you smirked to yourself slightly.
“is that so? well, i'm pretty sure you'll protect me from the scary things in there, right, yuu?”
he seemed to puff up at that, “of course i will! what kind of man would i be if i can't protect you?”
that earned another laughter from you, shaking your head as you tugged his arm towards the direction of the entrance.
he insisted that he'd pay for the tickets and the food which surprised you a bit, but you couldn't really complain since he was being nice all day to you. you decided to just pay him back later.
as soon as the both of you are inside and the movie is playing halfway, you noticed how he's the one who is more scared of it than you. he's trying to play it off by coughing when he'd accidentally yell in surprise or laugh it off when he'd jolt up from a jumpscare.
how cute.
without saying a word, you grabbed his hand and squeezed it reassuringly. the feeling of your soft and warm hands brought him back to reality, looking down at your intertwined hands. his cheeks flared up and he thanked himself for choosing a horror movie or else this moment wouldn't happen.
“ah, i'm glad that movie was over!” he cried out in relief. all throughout the movie, he kept squeezing your hand hard like a woman giving birth or hiding on your shoulder when a jumpscare comes on. you gotta admit that you enjoyed his reactions more than the movie itself.
you were both now walking home – he insisted – and your hands are still holding each other, clearly not wanting to let go. by the time you walked out of the theatre, it's already nighttime.
the skies are clear and there are stars peppering the night sky. it's quiet out with an occassional passing vehicles, or a hoot of an owl but it's a comforting silence.
“this is me,” you mumbled, stopping on your tracks once you saw the familiar street your residence was in.
noya can't help but glance at the street behind you with a sad look and down at your still conjoined hands. he knows he should, but he wanted to spend the night with you longer.
“you sure you can make it home okay?” he gave you a pleading look, hoping that you'd let him at least walk you in front of your house.
“yeah, i'm sure.” with that, he let go of your hands hesitantly, linking your pinkies as he gave you a small, content but genuine smile.
“i really had fun today, yuu.” you avoided his gaze when you saw his smile widen in satisfaction. he laughed heartily at that.
“me too, even if i hid throughout the movie.” he rubbed the back of his head, feeling his face heat up in embarrassment. he kept rambling about how he probably turned you off because of that and why he shouldn't have taken you to the movies but somewhere exciting instead.
goddamnit, you can't take it anymore.
leaning in, you closed the distance between the two of you and slotted your lips in his, closing your eyes. you felt his breath hitch at your actions, his hands coming up to hold your jaw.
just like everything about him, the kiss was breathtaking.
it felt like hours when you pulled away, his eyes was still closed as he savored the blissful moment you shared.
“thank you,” you whispered, as if any louder can ruin the magic.
you pushed his shoulders away gently, giggling as you walked home. nishinoya was left there, awestruck with a dumb smile on his face as he stared at your retreating figure like he just woke up from a beautiful dream.
“huh...? hey, wait! come back here!”
