i love apollo 18 but i have a few problems with it and one of the biggest ones is that i can never just listen to the fucking album because its impossible for me to hear this song without repeating it at least like 4 or 5 times

#I think in some ways this is literally like the best song he's ever written <- not a hot take at all i know but man #it really is like it kind of perfectly encapsulates everything i love about his songwriting at least lyrically #okay musically its amazing too i like the way it goes to the bVI in the verse he does this thing a lot in his chord progressions where the #verse chords are usually straight forward some variation in like I IV V I maybe with a ii an vi nothing too crazy and then he puts in #something like that or like often it's a II that is at this pivotal moment and its like idk like . he usually shows restraint like that in #the verse and chorus and then does something really complex/interesting in the bridge #not always but theres a lot of songs like that in this case oh my god i love that bridge #hes got the ascending line cliche thing and it keeps climbing and climbing towards the climax of the last verse and its sooooo GOOOOOOOOD #and its got suchhhh a classic linnellian melody insanely catchy like this is just such a perfect fucking song #i just feel like this is like. the archetypical john linnell song. platonic ideal of a john linnell penned pop song perfect example #lyrically obviously too its just soooo him nobody else could have written it. okay he got the title from flans though credit where its due #but yeah. perfect pop song lyrically complex and clever funny and recursive and circular and dark and morbid and just like. its so. perfect #ALSO THE ARRANGEMENT....................... i love the organ on it so much i love the guitars i love the way its mixed #yeah anyway if i wrote a song like this. id retire afterwards . he says hes still chasing trying to write the perfect pop song but i think #this would be my contender for like. number 1 #anyway i love this song but EVERYONE loves this fucking song so i forget how much i love this song sometimes. but i love it #this also was my favorite they might be giants song as a kid mostly because i really liked hearing him swear . lol #but because of that like birdhouse im like ive probably heard this song more than most any other song in my life so thats a factor

#elisabeth das musical #european musicals #its so good guys please give it a chance #the political undertones are amazing and even if its less todolf #death still manifests themselves in a way that appeals to rudolf #who is still just someone desperate for some political advantage + to be taken seriously by the world #who knows firsthand the struggles of the working class and finds laws and ordinances passed to be unfair #death manifests as a political ally; a partner in crime so to speak #and the entire show is hinged on politics more than ever in this production which is WHY THIS WORKS #the extended version of the first 4 years w/ some dialogue between the hungarians is amazing for that #and also the extension of eljen for that purpose too. it demonstrates how important politics will be as the show goes on since #at the end of the day it's politics that drives FJ and rudolf apart. FJ finds out that rudolf was conspiring against him #and the antisemitism movement that he interrupts is inherently against him too because of him working with jewish people #hass is a song about him and how the world views him and it serves as almost a reprise of milch even in the melody #it draws similarities between rudolf and elisabeth and their politics #and its just really good guys please

#me and my constant melody of 'they should bring this underrated amazing female character back'#everyone's always going on about simon keyes this & simon keyes that like. you all really saw a twink in makeup and lost sight of all else #huh #shih na did it so much better. she was the moment and she was soooo cool. she literally used aa fans' predisposed sympathy towards sad #sister characters against them. gave a performance so convincing she tricked a top prosecutor and detective into working with her for YEARS #turned around and got close enough to a top interpol agent again for YEARS without any of them catching on #and all without using the soft docile saccharine persona most the other deceptive characters use #she was so brilliant and poised and clever i miss her so much #i know they probably executed her but i feel like she could be one of those people who get taken in by the govt and used in their own #secret services and shit. she's good enough for it. also she was so? complex? like she was EXTREMELY good at keeping her personal feelings #out of her professional work but she didnt have that malice or hostility that a lot of these types do. she calls lang an idiot but that #mockery is just who she is. she does that for everyone. it's not personal. and there are times when you can tell that she did like the #people she was with. she admits as much with lang yet she always maintained her distance. because she's a professional. she's just so.#she was brilliant truly. what an amazing woman #i miss her so dearly #calisto yew #shih-na #ace attorney #ace attorney investigations

So I was wikiwalking around town last night looking into the board game Zombicide. It seems like the board game version of Left 4 Dead 2, which I can totally get behind. There is an official expansion to Zombicide adding Eddie, the band mascot for Iron Maiden, as a Survivor (and an enemy if you want that, but why would you want that...?). Iron Maiden is actually one of my all-time favourite bands, so this fact makes Zombicide highly compelling to me.

Another thing that makes it compelling to me is that it's highly customizable, and there's a big DIY scene for it. People make their own Survivor and enemy miniatures, and there's templates to make game cards for them. There are a lot of Resident Evil characters, including my preferred flavour of Jill.

Not gonna lie, the prospect of Jill teaming up with Eddie makes me grin like an idiot.

I also just recently caved and got Dead by Daylight, purely because there was an Iron Maiden collaboration a few weeks back. Turns out I can't resist both Jill and Eddie.

Between the two of these...I am seriously considering adding a crack verse for Jill where Eddie just...shows up somehow??? He helps Jill and her team fight B.O.W.s, 'cause he's pissed at the zombies and the bad people too. It would be completely ridiculous and make absolutely no sense and I kinda want someone to stop me but also I kinda don't...

oh yeah also have to shout out the young queer theatre-enjoyer (as doer or audience) with christian parent experience of "at least i can be in the choir & be one of like 2-4 tenors & enjoy singing harmonies & most of practice is just chilling b/c it's 95% playing the melody 50x for the twenty sopranos who still don't have it down" while also not having to deal with sitting in the midst of the pews or whatever

i went to my baby sisters schoolwide music/singing show and i literally left feeling so happy

#wind howls #the show was amazing 1st to 6th graders can b so full of talent and display it so beautifully when they have a good teacher forreal forreal #i watched a little boy go crazy on the bongo playing the beat for Mission Impossible while his friend did the melody on the piano #i was speechless the entire time. those two were 4th graders and they had the whole gym roaring with cheers and claps #and my baby sister was SO SO CUTE she accompanied the 5th graders on the recorder and then sung when it was the 6ths time #i cried i did 😭 they were so cute she was so cute she was so proud of herself anf im so so so proud of her #we also watched 2 videos of other students who played wonderful songs on the marimba and xylophones and thats so incredible #kids are so so talented #i also almost started crying whrn the 1st graders started singing because they are so small and their voices are so cute and im really weak #im so so so glad i went ohhh my GOD #im so so proud of my baby sister its unreal !!!! everyone congratulate her NOW

Got to see Dan Deacon on Saturday! Legit cried at one point lmao. After trying to see him for so long it was so surreal and one of the most intense, amazing concerts I’ve ever been to. The energy was increeedible, my god.
