okay i got an idea, do you think this works?
sages past:
fire = goron water = zora wind = rito thunder = gerudo spirit = mineru light = rauru time = sonia shadow = / earth = / - ((ganondorf)) (the plan wasnt yet finished so the search for someone suitable was still ongoing when the end started)
sages present: fire = yuno (fire boom thing) water = sidon (long range attack/ or just adding element on weapon + damage boost) wind = tulin (wind gust) thunder = riju (lightning strike) spirit = purah (guardian laser? or sth related to tech) light + time = zelda (she has a shield, you get time gimick) shadow = koga (teleport)
((earth = ganondorf, cataclysm + general tree theme with miasma))
keep in mind i just want to make it seem plausible, theres no way to put anyone into a clear role and im taking the enigma stones as just a power boost to whatever magic someone wields rather than anything super divine (in this game)
so again its just supposed to be believable, i could match koga for almost every single one of the powers tbh, im taking feedback on this of course, but still theres no perfekt solution sadly
#ganondoodles talks#zelda#totk#ganondoodles rewrites totk#its super hard to get these sorted out#since magic is always changing#and i cant jsut copy oot or any other game with sages bc they all change#ww had only two and it was earth and sky AND SKY WENT TO MAKORUS AND EARTH WAS MEDOLIE??? DA BIRD#so its like#cant put anyone into clear boxes like it is with everything#also the addition of thunder is making it all come apart#fhkdfhnkdhkfd

Ateez's Full Storyline Explained - THE MEMBERS (A-World)
Masterlist
This is fully focused on Ateez from the A-World since we don't yet have much backstory on the Black Pirates' individually. Thus far, even all I could gather on their shared history is largely speculation based on the Thanxx MV.
SIDE-NOTE: The majority of their backstory is easily found in their Diary Film which was released prior to the Inception MV. But for further details, look to the Fever Part 1 Diary Entries.
HONGJOONG
BACKSTORY
He comes from a troubled or at least not particularly close-knit family - they all moved away as he grew up, splitting up across the world and leaving him behind
When he was younger, before he met Ateez, he didn't have a dream and struggled to see the worth in life - he tried to please his parents with his grades but otherwise felt trapped in a pointless routine
After meeting Ateez and bonding over a shared love for music and performing, he finally got a dream: to become a star and be seen by his family so he can reunite them
But until then, he sees his fellow Ateez members as his main family
Him, Seonghwa and Yunho seem to have known each other the longest and were regularly performing in the streets as a trio
ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):
He naturally took on the role as Captain since he was the first in their hideout and brought the rest of them together; additionally, he was also the one to be handed the Cromer by his alternate self
This role was likely also strengthened by Yunho who's been with him the longest alongside Seonghwa, and sees hints of his dead older brother in Hongjoong and thus tends to look to him for advice
In addition to his position as Captain, he'll also fulfill whichever other role is needed for their missions just like the rest of his crew
Frequently displayed character traits: passion, character strength, leadership, cleverness, caution, intuitivity, loyalty, bravery
CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):
He's lonely, missing his members who drifted apart after their permanent return to A-World
In order to ensure he won't forget their adventures, even as time keeps passing, he documented their shared journey on a blog which blew up in popularity, leading him to turn his entries into a full blwon novel
Now, he's got it all: a best-selling book, a family who returned to him, fame, but alone in his room at night, he still feels empty
SEONGHWA
BACKSTORY
His outlook on music was permanently altered when he witnessed a girl with a 'Be Free' bracelet dance
He was part of the original Ateez trio alongside Yunho and Hongjoong
ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):
His unique connection to the 'Be Free' girl transcends realities and has allowed the fusion of the currently two biggest known revolutionary groups in the Z-World (see: Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries)
As a result, I would describe his current role as a mediator between Ateez/The Black Pirates and Thunder since he's so far been the most willing to extend good faith toward Thunder and learn about their backstory
Previously, like most other members, he simply took on whichever role was needed for the current mission
Frequently displayed character traits: intuitivity, kindness, trust, loyalty
CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):
After struggling majorly with anxiety and trying to cope with the trauma the Z-World inflicted on them, Seonghwa threw himself into his studies and later became a firefighter
There are fulfilling elements to saving people in this way, but he still can't forget their shared dream of making it in the music scene
He has yet to read Hongjoong's book, having kept it on his desk since it came out
YUNHO
BACKSTORY
His older brother died in a car accident after giving up his dream of becoming a musician
As means of fulfilling his brother's dream post-mortem, Yunho wants to work alongside Ateez and establish a successful music career
Yunho admires Hongjoong as a person and artist but also feels he resembles his older brother which surely influenced how he originally viewed Hongjoong and why he's always looked to him for guidance
He, alongside Seonghwa, has also known Hongjoong the longest and used to be a street performer trio with them
Prior to his brother's accident, he spent a lot of time riding around on his motorcycle with a separate friend group
ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):
He was the first to establish an emotional bond with Left-Eye, who is still one of their first and closest allies, when they bonded over their shared loss of a loved one and lingering survivors guilt (see: Fever Part 3 Diary Entries)
Other than that, he'll fulfill any role needed, such as utilizing his established ability to operate a motorcycle and whatever else is needed (though it does seem like all of Ateez have learned to drive pretty much any street vehicle since they've arrived in the Z-World)
Frequently displayed character traits: honesty, empathy, loyalty, bravery
CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):
He became disillusioned with their world, recognizing it as colder than the Z-World - people don't care about each other, just about themselves
After the situation with Ateez fell apart, he threw himself into archaeology, hoping to find another artifact like the Cromer which could reunite them for another adventure
YEOSANG
BACKSTORY:
He comes from a very strict household
His parents, especially his father, had already planned out his entire life and filled his days to the brim with schedules, such as violin practice
As a result, he felt trapped his entire life (like a caged bird) to the point where he compared his upbringing to Strictland upon first arriving in the Z-World (see: Fever Part 2 Diary Entries)
His only escape was studying the inner workings of machines which is how he taught himself the basics of engineering and robotics
He was the last to join Ateez and got in by building them a drone upon their request
ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):
He's in charge of controlling the surveillance butterflies seen in Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries which tells me he's still their main tech-guy
This role is also highlighted in Guerrilla when we see him inside the surveillance van
Frequently displayed character traits: self-blame/guilt, self-sacrifice, loyalty, quick thinking, bravery
CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):
Yeosang recognized money as the biggest obstacle between Ateez and achieving their dream so he decided to tackle the problem head on
Reinventing himself, he became a leader of the investment world - profit in mind but also investing in the arts on the side, even if that meant losing money
He's the one who invested in Hongjoong's authorial debut
SAN
BACKSTORY:
He was forced to move around a lot growing up which left him lonely and isolated
Ateez were his first real friends and he was desperate to stay with them, even when his family already planned the next move
His strong longing for a fixed friend group carry into his current behavior and reflect in his emotional reactions to certain situations, i.e. his immense devastation when they first lost Yeosang, his outrage when he found out Android Guardians burn prisoners' treasured memories
ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):
He has no set primary role, so he'll also simply execute whatever part of the mission is assigned to him, such as playing the decoy (see: Guerrilla)
Frequently displayed character traits: strong sense of justice, bravery, loyalty, empathy, sensitivity
CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):
San started his own business after Ateez drifted apart, a food truck, and ended up in Jeju where he got to meet a lot of people as he prepared their food and watched them eat with their loved ones
Through their shared conversations, he quickly learned most never got to live out their dreams and wondered if it was time for him to accept his fate may be sharing the same fate
MINGI
BACKSTORY:
He grew up in poverty and with no family left except his grandmother
He's been suicidal since he was young which led to him building up walls that keep others from getting too close
However, he's known Wooyoung since elementary school and Wooyoung's persistence eventually wore Mingi down and they got closer
Since then, Wooyoung was the only one who could make Mingi laugh
Wooyoung was also the one who introduced Mingo to the rest of Ateez (i.e. Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Yunho)
Once all of Ateez had been established, Mingi's grandmother got into some kind of accident which made Mingi relapse and shut down since he felt like he wasn't allowed to be happy while his grandmother was so close to death
His resulting decision to fully depart from Ateez had him call their dreams meaningless, upon which Jongho became enraged enough to lash out and punch him but Yunho intervened before it could escalate further than that one punch
His mental well-being was brought up again when he overheard Left-Eye talk to the Grimes siblings about their lingering hope to fix the state of the Z-World because it led him to realize how powerful dancing could be and how much he'd been letting the past affect the way he sees the world (see: Fever Part 3 Diary Entries)
ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):
He has no designated role, but did recently team up with childhood friend Wooyoung to go undercover as security guards at Prestige Academy during their mission (see: Outlaw - The World Ep. 2 Diary Entries)
He unfortunately also got traumatized during another mission when the Prestige Academy boy's brother died right in front of him and he was left to take out a bunch of Android Guardians by himself without time to process what he'd just witnessed (see: Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries)
Frequently displayed character traits: bravery, quick thinking, empathy
CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):
Despite coming from a broken home, Mingi made it big, becoming a professional model for a fashion magazine working with high-end designers
His social media was flooded with adoring comments, his influence far reaching, but he still couldn't help but get captivated by a group of boys busking on the side of the road
When he tried to distract himself from the memories, he came across a video of Hongjoong reuniting with his family
WOOYOUNG
BACKSTORY:
He grew up alongside Mingi and wormed his way into Mingi's life despite the strong walls Mingi had put up
Whenever he feels shy, he'll laugh it off and when he's scared, he'll keep talking until it wears off
He doesn't mind being teased for his habits
He had a strong desire to be a performer but was dealing with intense stage fright until he met Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Yunho at a street performance and they took him under his wing and helped him overcome his fear
Once he became a member, he introduced Mingi who proceeded to join the group as well
ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):
He has no set role but the injury he sustained during the first Android Guardian raid they experienced in the Z-World (see: Fever Part 2 Diary Entries), did lead them to finding out about Left Eye's existence and connect with the Grimes siblings who were then the catalyst behind the establishment of Thunder (see: Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries)
Frequently displayed character traits: nosiness/curiosity, playfulness, quick thinking, bravery, loyalty
CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):
Struggling with dread and anxiety after their return from Z-World, Wooyoung was desperate to get back on stage but couldn't see Ateez making it there after their many failed attempts to grab the public's attention
He became a flight attendant instead, making the plane his stage - their guests adored him
On his latest flight, Yunho and Mingi just happened to be on the plane
JONGHO
BACKSTORY:
His original dream was to become a pro basketball player but a serious ankle injury shattered that dream and made him feel like his life was over
Meeting Ateez became his second big dream
When Mingi tried to walk away from all of them and called their dreams meaningless, Jongho felt betrayed and like his dream was being taken from him and lashed out - he gets reminded of this incident again in the Fever Epilogue Diary Entries
ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):
His trauma from his past as a basketball player is further explored in the Fever Part 2 and Part 3 Diary Entries but since then, he seems to have moved on and left it in the past
Like most of the other members, he has no set role and will fulfill necessary roles as needed
Frequently displayed character traits: bravery, commitment, quick thinking, loyalty
CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):
Jongho became a songwriter for an idol group after getting signed by a label who approached him after hearing a song he recorded with the members
After breaking up a fight between the boys he now worked with, he thought back to his own argument with Mingi so long ago and got lost in the memories
Putting on the song they'd recorded together so long ago, he cranked up the volume and felt the painful ache caused by the sound of their voices singing his song

He Always Held My Hand (984 words) by Breakingofdawn Chapters: 1/1 Fandom: The Boys in the Boat (2023) Rating: General Audiences Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings Characters: Bobby Moch, Gaston Moch Additional Tags: Family, Father-Son Relationship, Bobby Moch growing up, fluff-ish, but also a smidge angsty Summary:
He began to see how often others, even the kind ones, will underestimate you.
In Montesano, the rain was expected. The thunder was not. Once a year or so these gales came, but it was the first that his young memory had a grip strong enough to keep. The storm was a monster, rushing in to deliver on the promise of his most vibrant, violent imaginings. Tremors shook his bones; he knew the world would crack apart.
For the young, time flattens and extends, spreading sticky and slow. This storm was surely eternal.
Just when he thought the walls of the room would bear down on him, a line of light slipped across his bed. Quiet steps brought a hovering shadow, familiar and full. Then, a gentle hand, fingertips and knuckles lost in the cave of a larger grip. Bobby curled his hand inside the clenching comfort of his father's.
***
Brow and cheeks flushed, the pain was storied in gripping fingers, a restless head, a rigid jaw. It peaked in Bobby's eyes, so tired of searching for help. They had started to surrender, lashes fluttering, eyes rolling back.
In the day to day, his father did not pull him close, not when they said goodnight or goodbye, not when tears threatened. But this night, his burning body was embedded inside strong arms, pressed to the chest, and carried across thresholds in search of help. Then finally, finally, a promise arrived. Help was coming. They waited together.
Mother's fingers, cool and gentle, traced relief onto forehead heat. And father, with his hand over hand. The touch did nothing to relieve the pain, but instead it repeated, with the rhythm of a pulse - I am here, I am here, I am here.
He was there. But his hands could not stay the cutting, the mistakes, the irreparable damage. He could only gather the broken body back up to himself and carry him home.
***
Just two years recovered, or perhaps remade is a better word. His eyes finally cleared the counter, his hands easily reached the tools - the lathe, the scale, the calipers in their shapely forms, leggy and one-armed. The jewelry shop was his toy store.
Sometimes he brought the pieces his father called for, knowing their names as well as his own, still learning the sizing for one or the other. He was almost grown now you know, too old to sit on the floor with the eye loupes, holding them up to magnify the wood grain, his fingernails, the stitches on his sleeve.
It was when the customers slipped through the door that his whole self would come alive. He cornered them with chatter and questions, curious and full of recall from their previous visits. But wide-eyed and slight, he was laughed at, offered a tootsie roll, or given a pat on the head. He began to see how often others, even the kind ones, will underestimate you.
One afternoon, they have together arranged all the repaired pieces of a watch on the tray, ready to reassemble. Some day, he told his father, he will work by his side.
"Your hands and head, they could do the work. There is already much you know. But Bobby, your mind is too fast; it would get bored."
The father's hand held the youthful, slender one as it twitched with stilted patience. He adjusted his position, strengthened his hold on the handle. Then they pivoted together, heavy fingers guiding fledgling ones.
"You'll find your work somewhere else, I think. You will use your mind to cut the world apart, Bobby. And you will fit it back together the way it should be."
The man's heart hummed on the inside, You've had to see how the world will take things to pieces. You can help make it right.
***
Bobby faces the breeze, lets the salty air dry his hair from the afternoon games and swim. Every day feels like a party when the victories have piled behind you and the Olympics are ahead.
The evening is closing in and he's found a quiet place, a tree to lean on, as he opens mail from home. The words feel as light as ink and paper always does. He doesn't perceive the weight of them when he opens the letter, even with the additional envelope. It's enclosed separately, smaller and stamped with a private note. Read alone is the message's urging.
Unfolding a paper unfolds a story, and it's one that can't be unread. Eyes scanning lines, hands unready to catch the pieces of what he's being given. The truth doesn't care that it falls into unprepared palms, it's been there all along. Bobby squeezes his eyes shut.
This identity, it's too tight, uncomfortable like new unworn shoes. But that can be adjusted, he can break it in with a walk, it will settle with some time. But his father - his father...? He kept it tucked away, like a burden, like a secret. Did he ever unfasten it? From time to time, did he leave it behind in the cedar chest at home? Or was that what made his shoulders curve bent over life, his back to the world, protecting him with his safe hands always covering his own?
***
Before returning to a new job and a new room as a new graduate, Bobby will walk the familiar path to the front door that he no longer thinks of as his. Soft and cool hands will press to his face with a kiss, a motherly smile more welcoming than any party.
He will set down his suitcase, weighted with souvenirs and gold. He will reach to shake his father's hand, and two arms will return to embrace him instead. Bobby will fold his arms around him in surprise, and he will place his hands against his back. It is straight and smooth.
Then he will take his father's palms, press the round shining disk inside them, and wrap his own fingers underneath.

Magic the Gathering: Type 3
Based on feedback from my fellow Magic players, I wanted to take a stab at seeing what a format with only Magic IP could look like. I'll break down: Name, Legality, and Deck Construction (with reasoning for each).
Name
The "Type 3" name is both an explanation of legality and a play-on-words. Since there will only be 3 Magic IP sets released per year, the "Type 3" moniker is an easy way to remember that this variant will only include Foundations (or whichever core archetypal Magic product is released) and those 3 yearly sets. Additionally, the format we know today as "Standard" was once-upon-a-time called "Type 2" (Vintage was "Type 1"), so the name works as a fun callback.
Calling it "Type 3" is also a way to set this format apart from Wizard-sanctioned formats, which all have single-word names (e.g. "Standard", "Modern", "Pioneer", etc.). I want to make it abundantly clear that this is not sponsored by Wizards of the Coast (Wizards), this is a fan-made format to encourage the use of and celebrate the Magic IP.
Legality
First off, Foundations will be legal for as long as Foundations is legal in the Standard format (which is currently until "at least 2029"). The sets released in a calendar year will be legal for only that calendar year. Rotation will be yearly, starting with the release of the first Magic-property set of that year. So,
For 2024, the following sets are legal: Foundations, Murders at Karlov Manor, Outlaws of Thunder Junction, Bloomburrow, and Duskmourn: House of Horror
For 2025, the following sets will be legal: Foundations, Aetherdrift, Tarkir Dragonstorm, and Edge of Eternities
For 2026, the following sets will be legal: Foundations, Wrestling (Return to Lorwyn), Yachting (Return to Arcavios (Strixhaven)), and Ziplining (an event set)
The purpose of the continual yearly rotation is partly to encourage players to purchase more Magic booster products, so as to let Wizards know that there is a market for the Magic IP. Part of the inclusion of Universes Beyond in Standard is due to players spending more money on Universes Beyond products than traditional Premier sets.
The other part of yearly rotation is to promote diversity of decks within the format. If Wizards prints a format-defining card, that card would only be legal for the calendar year it was printed. The limited card-pool will also encourage the use and play of cards that would otherwise be forgotten about in the Standard format.
Deck Construction
In terms of deck-building, a deck will be at minimum 60 cards with a 15 card Sideboard. There will be a Rarity-Limit for each card, with a limit of 1 per copy of any Mythic Rare, 2 per Rare, 3 per Uncommon, and 4 per Common (with any number of Basic Lands). The current rarity of any card will be determined by the most recently printed Type 3 Legal printing (e.g. if Wizards releases a set with an Uncommon "Giant Growth", then "Giant Growth" would be capped at 3x per deck instead of the current 4x).
This should hopefully keep the average prices of decks down, as powerful Mythics and Rares would be limited. In addition, this should also increase deck diversity, as format-defining cards would be harder to come across in a match. The added variance to decks would benefit newer players, encouraging them to participate in tournaments. This also simulates the Arena economy, where Mythic Rare and Rare Wildcards are much harder to come by than Common and Uncommon Wildcards, thereby easing the transition for newer Arena players to Paper Magic (and encouraging those new players to purchase packs at their local game stores).
Conclusion
In summary, Type 3 will provide players looking for a format showcasing only Magic IP a chance to flex their deckbuilding skills while also working as an easy entry-point for newer players. By having a limited card pool, deck-construction limitations based on card rarity, and a catchy name, Type 3 should be a fun format whose prominence will let Wizards know that there is indeed a market for Magic IP.
If you want a format featuring only Magic IP, Type 3 may be your best bet. The best way to help this format is to: play it, brew decks for it, share it with your friends, and talk about it online.

Behind-the-scenes footage of the reshoot of the squid sequence in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954)
A soundstage with a tank was built specifically for the movie. It was used for underwater miniature shots, but most importantly, this was where the famous squid sequence of the movie was filmed. Building the soundstage alone cost $300,000, but costs would continue to climb once the studio realized it would need to shoot the sequence all over again.
The screenwriter Earl Felton originally described the scene as such in his script: "THE NAUTILUS breaks the surface in the red after-glow of sunset, the ugly body of the squid silhouetted against the horizon, its long tentacles writhing."
Peter Ellenshaw, matte artist: I reckoned it would be very dramatic if--and I was doing sketches on the film quite a lot--that if we did a red, deep red sky, and the squid comes out of the water, it would be a wonderful effect. Well they tried it. They put on that kind of wishy washy sky, and it looked ridiculous.
Richard Fleischer, director: [The first squid] had all the tentacles, but the tentacles were held up by very heavy cables, which you couldn't avoid seeing... The cables would break, or great hunks of the material would come apart, come off. And the inside was stuffed with kapok, and it was absorbing the water, so it's getting heavier and heavier and getting less and less mobile, and it was just impossible. So I'm trying to shoot this thing, and I'm sick to my stomach looking at it because I know it's not working.
After seeing the dailies of the squid sequence, Walt talked with director Richard Fleischer, and they both agreed that it looked comical. Thus, Walt halted production while they thought of an alternate solution.
Fleischer: [Walt] said, "Start a dramatic sequence, and leave the squid sequence alone." He said, "I'll get together with my geniuses at Disneyland, and we'll come up with a squid that will do something for you. It'll be much better than this." ...My writer Earl Felton had seen the dailies too. And I said, "You know, Earl, what are we going to do with this thing? It doesn't work, even if we get a good squid." He said, "Well, look: everything's wrong with this sequence. This should be a sequence that takes place at night in a violent storm with lightning and thunder and wind, tremendous wind, waves smashing everything, so that it becomes not just a fight against the squid, but a fight against nature as well. You'll only see the squid really in flashes of lightning, and you won't see any flaws it may have." So I kissed his hand and ran out to find Walt, and I ran right into Walt on the studio street, and I said, "Walt, this is the new concept for the squid fight." And he listened, and he said, "You're absolutely right." He didn't hesitate a minute. "That's the way we'll do it, and you tell Earl to write that sequence."
The new squid was redesigned and remodeled by sculptor Chris Mueller (who sculpted a majority of the animals on Jungle Cruise). In his redesign, he tapered out the ends of the tentacles to allow them to stretch out to twice their length. He added a brow ridge to the squid to give it a more menacing look and rounded out + shortened the head.
The new mechanics were concepted and created by technical effects expert Bob Mattey (who made the animals on Jungle Cruise move and eventually would become well-known for creating the three animatronic sharks in the film Jaws). He created a spring device that made the tentacles light in weight and fluid in movement. It required 28 men to operate the squid, and they would use vacuum hoses to make the tentacles writhe, inflating them to make them curl and deflating them to uncurl them.
With the new stormy setting, it also required the addition of wind machines, dump tanks, wave makers, and reengineering the Nautilus so that it could lean during the storm.
Most of this reshoot was shot by second unit director Jim Havens (pictured in the first and eighth gifs; James Curtis Havens on IMDb), who already had previous experience shooting action sequences, including the underwater scenes in Creature from the Black Lagoon.
Needless to say, the reshoot practically flooded the soundstage. You can see in the last gif that the water spilled outside the soundstage as Walt, with rubber boots on, walks into the building.
The reshoot cost an additional $250,000, but with only half of the principal photography having been shot, the production was in danger of being shut down. The film had to start taking from funds intended for Disneyland.
Fleischer: They had to get in the bankers... They asked them to supply money to finish the picture, and the bankers wanted to see what had been shot up to date. And that was a big day for us. I was working on the set, waiting to hear word whether we're going to come back to work the next day or shut down that night. It was really that close. Word got back to me. They loved it. And they're giving him a million and a half dollars to finish the picture. That's our squid story. It was a real hair-raiser. A movie in itself.

There's no lightning in the End.
Which is arguably not the most embarrassing detail about the whole ordeal, but it is up there on the list of what went wrong in the moments preceding and following her death.
But death doesn't feel like that much of a stark contrast when you simply fall into the void, all things considered. Instead of collapsing on yourself and being all-too aware of what was once solid ground and is now ether, everything simply stops hurting and your body just keeps feeling like slightly-falling-forever. Which has the additional effect of being an accurate representation of her emotional stability throughout this fun little adventure.
When Jimmy fades to her side, she hears an echo of thunder and the odd smells of singed hairs and mold. Mumbo, about 30 seconds later, also joins with the same entourage. And screaming about fenceposts. Which shouldn't, but feels on par for the course really.
It takes him an embarrassingly long time for him to calm down, but honestly? That made her feel a bit less alone, so she'll look the other way.
"So, – she starts, because it was clear the boys had managed to forget all manners, – how was Life without me. All 20 minutes of it."
Mumbo just sighs.
"Make that 10..."
"Yikes!"
"Yeah no it was- it was bad. I mean it was good for a bit, I was making some amount of progress in being a red name but then uh- chaos. Chaos happened."
"Mumbo. I love nothing more than when you try to sum up a really complicated situation in two or three words."
"YOU DON'T-! There's no task! That's just mean!"
"... Fair. Sorry. Please continue your non-explanation."
She even added a flourish for good measure, but when nothing was left but uncomfortable silence she didn't need a flat surface to tell that if he could Mumbo would be shifting his weight in a quite panicked fashion.
"Do you... not know how you died? What's going on here."
"I do! Warden caught up with me because of a stupid fencepost i placed-"
"Then?"
Jimmy's been so silent. It doesn't suit him.
"Boys?"
"Don't care. Curse's broken 's all that matters."
"Right." He can't be serious. Well... No, that's on par for as well. "Well then, Mumbo? Share what's weighing on you?"
It takes a few more minutes of silence. Then out comes the flood.
"I don't know why I died. And i know it's silly to care now! I understand caring on yellow, or red, when revenge is important and righteous and more useful than when you're stuck here with dead people - no offence. But even then! What revenge would await me at a life 0? Against myself? For falling off a stupid tower of blocks? For not seeing other options than to jump on that strider or for being dumb and falling into lava? Or for not removing my triumphant fenceposts? Would my revenge be just killing myself again? For a fourth time? BUT WHY? A WARDEN AND A WITHER. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SERVER. Oh I should have just moved out of the way. I should have-"
"Welcome to my personal hell!" Jimmy chips in, " "Should have"s and "Could have"s. Ain't got much else to do. Usually it's not long at all before everyone else joins in but, still greens and yellows and such..."
The rest is lost in a vague hand gesture and shrug.
Lizzie thinks it would have made her feel better if anything else was happening in the background. The sun stood indifferent in the distance, opposite the pale, cold moon. Motionless, the both of them. Nothing ever changing apart from the uneven, mischievous fluttering of the stars. One amongst them, refusing to flicker, just stared unblinking like a red eye watching over them.
"You know Jimmy I think you might be right this time!"
"I am?"
"I don't care that I died. That much. Everyone will be here soon and all their deaths will be even more embarrassing than mine because they were closer to victory than I ever was. And imagine choking up when you've almost succeeded. I wouldn't know anything about that."
"Right!"
It sounds almost involuntary as Mumbo chocked out a laugh. But then Jimmy's tentatively laughing with him, and really the wait could be worse.

{translated} I’m in love with coming apart at the seams, would you be the one to sew me back together + Billy/Skull
Title: the worst sort of fools Rating/Warnings: M; violence; underage. Relationships: Billy Cranston/Eugene Skullovitch; Bulk & Skull; Marah & Kapri & Cameron; Clare/Leelee Pimvare; Victor/Monty; Trent/Cassidy/Devin; Fran/RJ; Betty/Devon; implied Bulk & Jason. Characters: Eugene Skullovitch; Farkas Bulkmeier; Fran; Leelee Pimvare; Clare; Victor Vincent; Monty; Cassidy Cornell; Devin Del Valle; Marah; Kapri; Betty Burke; Ben Burke; Ensemble Teams; Lord Drakkon. Additional Tags: Shattered Grid AU; voyeurism; torture; aftermath of torture; hurt/comfort; emotional/physical/sexual abuse; mental illness; WHUMP; Protective Eugene Skullovitch; Protective Farkas Bulkmeier; Protective Kapri; Protective Cameron Watanabe; Enraged Rangers Coming For Drakkon's Life. Summary: "We will die loving you, and you will never know." Instead of taking on legions and dimensions of Rangers for the sake of one little morpher per team, Drakkon decides to amuse himself with the capture of the people that Finster-5 promises are important to the growth of the Rangers, even if they don't notice it until it's too late. Keeping the pairs separated and in their own groups is the first step; those who exude the characteristics of Purple (with one stray Pink) being put into darkness with sound generators to fool their senses and rile them up; and those who exude Orange being put into too white, too light sterile rooms with a deafening kind of silence to make them close in close to each other and put them on terrible edge. The second step involves putting the Purple (and Pink) group out of balance: unleashing them into a different prison built like a maze with the promise of food and drink and being released back home if they find a way out all together: not one of them thinking much of themselves, but mostly just trying to get back to their other half and their teams, trying to circumvent traps of projectiles, poisons, snares, floor falls, and their own antagonism towards each other. It keeps Drakkon amused, but also annoyed that they don't seem to care much about themselves. The third step comes in petty torments recorded for posterity and sent out to their individual dimensions as a lure: sending in Sentries and Putties to beat on the Orange group--exactly and only one of them being a very good fighter, only one of them being fast enough to evade a direct hit, and one providing distractions to get the others to different rooms and keep them safe for a little while more; all so resilient that it amuses Drakkon tremendously when the recording goes to the Mighty Morphin, Ninja Storm, and Dino Thunder teams and he gets to see the devastation cross the faces of the Dr. Oliver with terrible hair (and his little followers), the sarcastic, too bright for his own good Watanabe, and the Billy Cranston he hadn't killed yet. The forth step was waiting. (The fifth step, though not Drakkon's, were the groups getting out of their respective cages to try and make their way back to each other and then their own dimensions. Bloody and tired, but still trying.) * (I may well end up at least writing a small thing for this, if only in flash fics.)

Review: proFESSional debut with gritty new alternative-rock single ‘Pizza For Breakfast’, a harsh and furious concoction of volume, energy and bold hooks
The five-piece known as proFESSional are quite the dominant musical experience, reminding you of Buzzcocks, Swell Maps and Spizz with their blends of indie-rock and punk into something loud, rocky, and always in your face. If there was one thing they’re guaranteed to deliver, it’s that you’ll get all the attitude, all the punky power, and all the charisma of a band that know exactly the sound they want and the audience that’ll love it most.
With their debut single ‘Pizza For Breakfast’ now hitting the airwaves and setting them apart from the rest, this quartet are once again ready to take their new listeners on a journey unlike anything you’ve ever heard before, and frankly you’ll never hear again. With loud crashing drums and fuzzy electric guitar strums that feel stripped straight out of a gnarly 90s recording, the introduction alone is already a behemoth experience that’ll knock you off your feet and transport you straight to a gloomy garage venue filled with sweaty fans rocking their hearts out. The verse settles slightly from this forceful protrusion of sound with steady drum beats, a loose guitar riff and their vocalist’s charismatic performance to lead it all, a spoken-sung performance with drawn-out words, witty emphasis and a unique twang that you can’t help but love the quirkiness of. As things keep building with newfound guitar strums and instrumental additions, this eccentric palette of noise just keeps giving, knowing how to build just the right way for a multi-faceted journey of sound.
Blaring into the chorus with an explosion of harsh electric guitar strums, thunderous drums, half-shouted and half-sung vocal lines and a shredded guitar riff, everything feels completely thrust your way with not a care in the world. The rawness of the sound makes it just as gripping, with every instrument down-to-the-bone and industrial in the sense you’re caught in a live performance with zero perfections and pure, pumping adrenaline.
If you’re thinking this oddity of a song already stands out for its obscurities, then you’ll have a field day with their narrative that’s quite some over-the-top storytelling. Penned as an elaborate tale, proFESSional weave through the sound a story of meeting a perfectionist and control freak on the tube - except they just happen to also be a serial killer. From the first introductions, things seem rather normal and within the ordinary, singing of this man’s perfectionist tastes and overtly organised home: ‘his wardrobes are numbered, he likes to know where things go.’ The chorus is where we get our first snippet that things might not be as they seem though, banging on your eardrums with the admission that ‘he’s eating pizza for breakfast, feels like he’s losing control, he’s never been so reckless’, a mass of feelings that couldn’t possibly just be for the strangeness of eating pizza for breakfast. The second verse feels like uncharted territory, coming clean that ‘he said his days are numbered, and so are mine’, something that at first feels like an innocent statement about the unavoidable nature of death — but we know it to be much more than that. When it’s finally yelled in the bridge’s climax ‘then he opened up to me, he says he's a killer on a spree’ everything about the distorted and unfiltered sound begins to feel uneasy, completely shifting your perspective about all you’d heard before.
If the wonderfully obscure narrative of ‘Pizza For Breakfast’ is your cup of tea, or perhaps the loud, booming sound has resonated with you, you can keep listening here!

if i were to ever write my random little psychonauts / professor layton au with the pl chars as the psy7 I just know a few million things for it
Which is why I'm saving everyone by including a cut here.
(also because there's spoilers for all of professor layton and for all of psychonauts, but hey)
To start off: Characters who I know or at least can assign tentatively.
(this is mostly the main characters tbh. A few extras seeped through)
Luke is Raz. Both are sonboy incarnate, have strained relations with their father, and have some sort of power that most people around them don't understand.
Flora is Lili. I'm saying this partially for the name joke, partially because I think Flora deserves to be a bit angry about everything that happens to her. Her dad is still alive in this au, too! wow! reinholts stay winning i guess!
Claire is Ford. I know that's not what's expected but I really, REALLY want to talk about Claire and I think that her mind could have such an interesting time theming throughout that you have to contend with-- past/present/future, mainly. Plus, she's morally a little gray already.
Hershel is Lucy. Yes, I know, it doesn't really fit, but imagine the emotions here. Also, this gives me an excuse to have him being Luke's mentor throughout his life and for the two of them to have a very close bond as a sort of family. (Plus, he's already taken the name of a sibling in canon, just like Lucy did.) Additionally, everyone would probably fall apart without him.
Don Paulo is Otto. This is partially for the memes, partially for the serious fact that they're both brilliant inventors who probably had a Thing for Ford/Claire. Also, both would give dangerous inventions to children, no holds barred, give the boy a flying machine just 'cuz.
Randall is Bob. This is specifically him for a few reasons: One, although his main storyline does align with Helmut ("dying but not really, coming back, thinking he failed everyone") his other storyline of being mad about losing the ones he cares about to the point of making it EVERYONE'S PROBLEM is very much a Bob thing.
Angela is Helmut. It's unfortunate, but at the same point I genuinely cannot find much information on her as a person and it's kinda annoying. PL series treat your women better please. On that note: Being romantically involved with Randall, being one of the more positive forces in the lives of the others, caring about other people's safety... Yeah.
Henry is Cassie, sort of. This is where it gets a little messy. I say this mostly because he went to Green Needle Gulch to keep an eye on Randall, not because he did anything in particular. However, he's still trying too hard to fix everything up for when Angela, Hershel, Claire, and Randall are back in shape, cleaning up everything a bit too much. His archetypes are everywhere, but they're more like dust clouds than archetypes-- desperate to clean up the mess but just making more mess.
I've been tossing around Dimitri as Compton as well, but i can also see someone suggesting almost anyone else here. I'm saying Dimitri solely because I personally adore Unwound Future, though. No real reason.
For Sasha and Milla, I've been kind of joking that they're Sammy Thunder and Katia. This is, yet again, mostly because I enjoy Diabolical Box a lot. Plus, they're one of the best duos in the series, other than Chelmey and Barton. There's nothing romantic here because they're cousins, but they got the standard "fun music-lover and serious thinker" dichotomy for it.
Since Luke is Raz, Clark is Augustus. Both tend to throw themselves into their work during times of stress, and they don't exactly listen to their kids the best, but by god they're trying so hard to be good dads, and they have to let their sons go to learn more.
Additional pieces I've thought about include that Luke calls Hershel "Uncle Des," the battle that wrecked the psy7 was only 10-15 years ago here, and that everyone's powers are definitely gonna be mixed up. Also, Luke's not cursed! That's just "Uncle Des" thinking that something is definitely amiss whenever he feels something psychic around. No curse here.
#laytonauts au#i'll tolerate that name for now /lh#professor layton psychonauts au#the owl posts#the owl writes#psychonauts spoilers#professor layton spoilers#i just really like coming up with random ideas tbh

NFS Unbound - The best racing game in January 2023
Neon clouds of spray paint and comic book-inspired graffiti greet you at the start, along with thundering Drum n' Bass beats and a high-speed flashy release that sets the tone for Need for Speed Unbound. The campaign game begins with a fascinatingly detailed character designer, and it is followed by a fairly meaty introduction that introduces the game's main heroes and lays the foundation for the tense campaign's plot.
Story The story mode of NFS Unbound is the game's core, a nearly unbearably boring story of vengeance, betrayal, and retribution set in the city's lucrative, ego-driven world of nightclubs and dangerous folk. The character of the player's choice embarks on the most hilariously predictable and shockingly cliche narrative imaginable – one that will come as no surprise to anyone familiar with famous thespian Vin Diesel's cutscene oeuvre. As you progress in the game, game profits (whether collected on the roads or at the bookies) can be used on a massive collection of vehicles and improvements, along with the user gunning through a strict accreditation routine and obtaining the machinery appropriate to qualify for the city's top street circuits. As Lakeshore becomes more accessible to the public, a variety of side goals and work-for-hire opportunities are available, ranging from acquiring hot-wheels (not necessarily those dildos) away from the city and under the watchful eye of the feds to developing into the highest-rated Uber driver in the annals. These quests all offer specific rewards, including unlocking new safehouses and the opportunity to access more cars and upgrades.
Gameplay The overall experience of playing the game here is superb. "Unbound" is by far my favorite experience playing the NFS recreation since I tried "Undercover" in senior high. The racing is firm, close-quartered, and disorganized. Operating low-speed routes, water tunnels, and high-speed interstates is akin to chopping up asphalt. Handling the cars is an enjoyable process of learning (like with cars). It is possible to ensure the auto handles better or make adjustments for drifting in specific situations without additionally acquiring improvements or segments. For a car enthusiast, this component is beneficial to enjoy. not closed into one system because you're not able to afford sections. Yes, those sections would assist, but it's not the end of the game. BuyGames sell cheap PS5 sports games.
Graphics The video game has chosen to go for one-of-a-kind graphics this time around, setting it apart from the majority of racing video games available. Regardless if it is simulation-heavy games like Assetto Corsa, Project CARS, or maybe the considerably more arcade-inspired DIRT and Forza Horizon 5, there is nothing more on the market that looks like Need for Speed Unbound, and that mainly comes down to the game title's manner of mixing photo-realistic vehicles and environments with anime-type effects and characters. Regarding some other aspects of cartoony visuals, like the character designs, they're all competently accomplished and never seem to conflict with the style of the game. The fantastic color palette is also helpful in adding a lot of personality to what could otherwise generally be named floating above various vehicles when people compete. On the topic of the overall game's photo-realistic elements, there's not much to say. The game appears to be stunning; in addition, the PS5 adaptation can keep a steady 60 FPS frame rate when playing the game in 4K.
Map You'll also find plenty of treasures you can discover on the map, as well as billboards to smash to the tune of Burnout Paradise, so there are lots to keep you entertained within Lakeshore City. I did not invest as much time in the online mode while I had the single-player mode, but it's similar to the single-player mode and has you driving within the game map trying to find events and meetups. It's nothing spectacular, and if you've completed the main campaign, it's just that with your friends. Hurry up, cheap PS4 racing games are on the market.
Controllers Despite this, the physics foundation feels fine-tuned without being overly realistic. Unbound's unique take on turbo physics shows it ended up getting a great feature. Alongside the standard boost meter slowly filling up as competitors play chicken with other traffic, take flight through the air, or draft behind opponents, a trisection secondary boost meter will fill up in a different way depending on how fast enthusiasts combine these various moves and will begin decreasing as soon as the mix is over. It is a one-level boost meter that may not be much different from the usual turbo capabilities; however, pulling off the right combo long enough to reach the next or third stage can have a significant impact on the position you are in during the race. This might seem confusing to need to balance two meters at a time and also race at incredibly fast speeds, but pulling off a Level Two boost after stopping in a long trudge around a turn or a Level Three boost after effectively jumping a great height will be incredibly satisfying and add a layer of depth to the enjoyable and refined driving physics.
Conclusion The PlayStation 5 version is visually very good and delivers a charming 60-frame rate throughout the city. The vibrant visual effects and animated characters make this an extremely unique racer, though all sorts of things could have gone further. The game is more secure in its basic aspects and has an open world with the usual velocity videocams, drift zones, and even inflatable bears that you can find and operate down, but the individuality is still evident with details like graffiti creativity that you can spot around the city and include in your car's design studio.

Come back home
Bucky x reader

Summary: You were getting worse and were afraid to hurt Bucky, but unable to hide it. Instead of talking it out, you ran away. Embarrassed and afraid, you avoid the calls and voicemails from the man you left. But one night, you can’t help but listen to them, and you need to hear his voice.
Warnings: depression, reader blames herself, Bucky blames himself, anxiety attack, lots of tears, lots of fluff and comfort
I actually got this idea from @thelifeof.jana on TikTok, she posts different scenarios with comfort characters and I wanted to make it into a fic.

A/N: It’s nearly finals week and it is CRUNCH TIME so I’ve been writing when I can, I apologize for the sporadic-ness of it. Thanks for sticking with me!
A/N 2: I left a few things to interpretation, such as a nightmare. Insert what you want, I know everyone has different experiences and I wanted this to be as relatable to as many people as I could. I also left out when y/n gives an address because 1) I don’t know New York and 2) It’s likely somebody’s address in real life so...interpretation.

Your phone began ringing, piercing the otherwise silent house and startling you
Answer it.
You stared at the phone, taking a deep breath.
Ring
You picked it up and turned it over, closing your eyes and letting a breath out.
Don’t answer it.
You looked at the screen again, seeing the name of your favorite person.
Bucky…
Ring
Answer it
No.
Please, I wanna hear his voice.
I can’t
Ring
Letting a breath out, you put the phone down and sat on the floor next to your bed, leaning your head back and closing your eyes.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
Then you were left in the silence once again.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you had been holding, waiting a few more seconds for the next noise. Sure enough, your phone made a sound, notifying you of yet another voicemail.
Another addition to your library of ignored messages.
You picked up your phone, clicking to see the messages you never listened to.
25 unheard messages. All of them from Bucky.
Your finger hovered over them for a moment, allowing yourself to ponder listening to them. But you sighed, closing your phone and placing it back on the nightstand. You couldn’t listen to them. Because if you did, you wouldn’t be able to resist calling him back. And you couldn’t take that risk.
You’d spent this much time without him. Once you heard his voice you’d be spilling everything to him. Just like you used to. Which is why you left in the first place.
Bucky was special to you. He always had been. Despite all the trauma he’d gone through, he was still kind and gentle. He had been the one to pull you out of the dark place you were in at the time. He was always there to talk to you, listen to you, or help you take care of yourself when you just couldn’t anymore. He’d sat through many of your panic attacks and calm you down if you had a nightmare, just as you would for him. He would drop anything for you, you always came first.
And that was the problem.
He did too much for you, and you couldn’t help but feel guilty. This man had already gone through so much pain and suffering and was finally getting better. He was going out more and the nightmares happened much less often. You were grateful for the love he gave you, and you loved him more than anything.
Which is why you couldn’t bring him down anymore. So, one day when he was out on a mission, you had packed up your few positions and left him a note.
Bucky,
I just wanted you to know that I love you so much, but I have to go now. I’m sorry.
-Y/n
You had to keep it brief. If you said anything more you knew you’d say too much, and it would only make leaving harder. And if he knew you were leaving because you were hurting too much, he wouldn’t stop until he found you.
Not that he wasn’t looking for you know.
You had rented out a room in the cheapest hotel your could find in somewhere-New-York-City. It was small, it wasn’t the cleanest, but it was fine. You didn’t care, it was functional. Within hours of leaving, your phone started ringing. Not that you answered. You couldn’t, not when you would start crying once you heard his voice.
You got many texts and calls that night.
What happened?
Where are you? Y/n are you okay??
Tell me where you are, we can talk this out, please.
You couldn’t bring yourself to read more than that. You silenced his messages and let the calls go to voicemail, never able to bring yourself to reject a call, instead letting it ring all the way until he got the same voicemail message every time.
Hi, it’s y/n. Leave your name and number and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can, have a nice day!
The same fake cheery message every time, giving an empty promise.
What you didn’t know was that on the other end of the line, Bucky was shattering a bit more with each voicemail he left.
Bucky’s POV:
He couldn’t understand what could have happened. Why you had left all of a sudden. He knew you had some bad days, and the first time he had read it he was terrified that you had done something. He usually was able to see when things were getting bad again but he couldn’t think of what he could have missed. When he saw that you had read his texts that night, seeing the word read appear after a few of them, he told himself that you were okay.
Because he didn’t know what he was going to do if you weren’t.
What you didn’t know was that you had helped Bucky just as much if not more so than he had helped you. His nightmares happened less often because you were there with him every night. He was more outgoing because you had dragged him out to those first few bars and parties. He felt happier because he was helping you, and you made him feel safe and wanted.
And then you left.
He couldn’t sleep most nights, worried about you. Most of the nights he did sleep, he dreamt about you and everything that could have happened. He called you every day, multiple times, needing desperately to hear your voice. He withdrew again, only going on one mission when the team absolutely needed him. It was his only sense of purpose anymore, but it meant nothing compared to what you had meant to him
But you didn’t know that. Because you hadn’t opened any of his messages yet.
It was late now, and Bucky was discouraged. It had been over a week since you had left, and his texts had gone unread ever since a the first night you left. It wasn’t a long time. But it was still too long. He decided to try your phone once more.
Ring
Ring
Ring
Ring
Bucky closed his eyes, begging you would pick up, silently knowing you wouldn’t.
Ring
Ring
“Hi, it’s y/n. Leave your name and number and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can, have a nice day!”
Sighing, he got ready to leave a voicemail. After the beep he said, broken.
“Please y/n. Come back home.”
Your POV:
You sighed as yet another round of rings echoed through your apartment, hearing the notification soon after, notifying you of yet another new voicemail.
You looked at the time. 11:03 P.M.
You sighed, knowing you should get some sleep. But no matter how tired you were, you knew that once you closed your eyes, you would have nightmares again. And no one would be here this time.
You couldn’t deny it, you weren’t doing well. Your appetite had diminished and you relied heavily on caffeine to supplement the sleep you refused to get. Not that it helped your appetite in any way.
You would go through the motions, make it to work (most days) and get through the day just to...get through the day. You weren’t living really. Just surviving. You knew it was getting bad again, some nights so dark you weren’t sure if you would see the light the next day. Yet you couldn’t let yourself call him. You didn’t want to hurt him.
But you didn’t know that you had already hurt him more by leaving than you ever could’ve by staying.
You sighed, knowing that eventually, you were going to need to sleep. Might as well try to. You didn’t know if for sure you would have a nightmare, so may as well try?
That turned out to be wishful thinking.
Major wishful thinking.
You woke up screaming, drenched in sweat and looking around the room frantically. When you realized it was just a dream, you put your face in your hands and felt tears immediately prick your eyes.
When was this going to stop?
You felt your chest contract as you realized the truth. It wasn’t. Not like this at least.
Just over a week and you were already at your breaking point.
Call him
You looked at the time. 2:47 AM.
You couldn’t call him now.
Call him.
You opened your phone and found Bucky’s contact, finger hovering over the name once again. At the last second, you clicked your voicemail inbox instead, scrolling back down to the first one on the night you left.
“Y/n?”
Your breath hitched as you heard his voice, fresh tears pricking your eyes. Not just from his voice and how much you had missed it, but also the absolute panic in his voice.
“Where are you? Are you okay? Why- why did you leave? Please, answer the phone, I need to know you’re okay.”
You clicked on another one from a few hours later.
“Y/n, please, I saw you read the first few texts I sent. Please answer the phone. We can talk this out, whatever it is just - please call me.”
Tears were falling from your eyes, and you didn’t have it in your power or even the desire to stop them. You flicked to another one that was sent a few days later, this one was longer.
“Please y/n,” it started, his voice soft and cracking with emotion. “Where are you? Just - just tell me where you are, please. I need you. These past few days it’s like I hear your voice and then there’s nothing. I miss you so much. I’m nothing without you please....please just come back home. I don’t care what you did or think you did or why you left. I love you. And I could never stop loving you. I can come get you, we can talk this out. Please. I can’t do this without you. I - I’m falling apart.”
You were now sobbing as you flicked over to your text messages and clicked on Bucky’s name, seeing texts upon texts from him.
One of the more recent one’s caught your attention.
“I’m sorry. Did I do something wrong?”
Never, never in your heart did you ever think Bucky would think that he had done something to drive you away. Your heart broke, realizing he could be blaming himself for your leaving. It was never his fault. It could never be his fault.
With shaking hands, you pressed the phone icon below his name, bringing the phone to your ear as you listened to it ring.
You tried to control your breathing through the tears, falling apart after a few seconds of thinking you had it together.
Ring
Ring
Ring
Please pick up, I need to hear your voice.
Ring
I’m sorry this is all my fault.
Ring
Please, I -
“Hello?”
Your breath hitched and your eyes flew open. Your words got caught in your mouth, having no idea what to say. Bucky, on the other side of the line, hadn’t even looked at the caller ID. He hadn’t fully fallen asleep yet, but the tiredness was evidence in his voice.
“Hello?” he said again
“I’m sorry,” you choked out.
Bucky’s eyes flew open and he pulled away his phone, seeing your name across the screen. All exhaustion was gone from his body, and he heard you trying to control your breathing on the other side of the line.
“Y/n?”
“I’m so sorry…” you said again, breaking out into sobs.
“Y/n, can you tell me what’s wrong? Where are you?” he said, panicked and getting out of bed, pulling on a shirt and shoes.
“I’m sorry, Bucky, I’m so sorry,” you said again, not being able to say much else.
“Y/n, sweetheart, it’s okay. You’re okay. But I need you to tell me where you are, can you do that for me?”
He waited for a moment while you tried to pull yourself together enough to repeat the address of the hotel.
As you did, Bucky was already out the door and in the car, starting it and putting you on speaker, driving as fast as he could to the hotel and ignoring all traffic signals. It was the middle of the night, and you were not okay.
“I’ll be there soon, angel, can you keep talking to me?
“I’m sorry Bucky…”
“It’s okay y/n. You’re okay. We’re okay. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”
His words didn’t reach your ears, your breathing getting harder to control and your tears fell faster. You had fucked up, this was your fault. Why did you call him, now he knows where you are and you were going to burden him with all your shit again.
He could hear your breathing become labored as he sped further towards your location. He tried talking to you more but he soon realized that he wouldn’t be of much use until he was in front of you. His heart was breaking and he was hoping nothing was seriously wrong.
But you wouldn’t have called him like this if nothing was wrong.
Clenching his jaw, he scanned the street signs for yours, knowing the city well enough to know he was close.
When he pulled up to the street, he couldn’t help but wince at how dingy this place was. It was run down and the smell was putrid. He was so sad that this was where you had run off to. He took his phone, saying how he was here but it fell upon deaf ears. You weren’t calm enough to hear his voice from the phone you had dropped when you had moved to cover your face instead.
Bucky took the stairs 3 at a time, getting to your room in record time. He pounded on the door, trying the knob even though he knew it would be locked. Calling out your name and getting no response, he decided to break the door in. It was barely hanging on its hinges anyway.
“Y/n? Y/n where are you?” he called out, met only with the sounds of your labored breathing. He followed it to your room, where you had curled yourself into a ball against the headboard, hands covering your face as you struggled to breathe.
He walked over to your side, reaching out his hand but thinking better at the last moment. He needed to make sure you knew that he was there, he didn’t want to scare you.
“Y/n?” he starts softly.
You lifted your head and looked around yourself wildly, startled when you saw the figure of a man standing in front of you, trying to push him away. He grabbed your arms and you tried to break free
How did he get in here?
What does he want with me?
Why-
Your eyes settle on his. Light blue eyes, staring right back into yours. You knew them, you were safe with them. Your own eyes, red and blotchy flash with realization and you let out a sob.
“Bucky…”
He took you into his arms as sobs wracked your body, rubbing an arm up and down your back in efforts to calm your shaking form. He was repeating comforting words over and over again. You clung to his shirt as you kept apologizing over and over again, not knowing what else to say - or even how to say it.
“I’m sorry”
“It’s okay.”
“I’m so sorry…”
“Shh, y/n, it’s okay.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m here. I got you.”
You tried to focus on his heartbeat, steady and strong, as you tried to take deep breaths. Eventually your tears slowed down as you still clung to him, tears drying on your face as you were able to deepen your breathing to match his. His hand still rubbed up and down your back as the two of you sat in silence for a few minutes.
You took a shaky breath. “I - I’m so sorry Bucky.”
Bucky took a deep breath and held her a little more tightly. He could still feel her heart racing. What could she possibly have to be sorry for?
“What happened y/n?”
You felt tears prick your eyes again. Sadness, shame, embarrassment and made you feel sick to your stomach. You opened and closed your mouth a few times before you were able to speak.
“I - I don’t know.”
“Please y/n. Tell me why you left.”
“I just… I was… “ you swallowed and let out a shaky breath. “It was getting bad again,” you said, voice barely audible.
Bucky clenched his jaw, angry at himself that he didn’t see it. “Why didn’t you tell me? I told you you could talk to me about anything.”
You screwed your eyes shut. “That was the problem…”
Bucky pulled you back to look at you. “What?”
Your eyes darted everywhere but Bucky’s face. You didn’t want to see the pained expression you knew he’d have right now. You took a deep breath.
“I just… you were doing so well. And I - I just felt so bad for bringing you down all the time. You would drop anything for me, and you were always there and you were always perfect but I wasn’t.” you finally looked at him. “And I left because I realized I was never going to be.” You shook your head slightly. “I didn’t want to put you through that when you were doing so well.”
You looked away, unable to look at Bucky’s sad eyes any longer. Bucky broke the silence after a few moments. “You were the only reason I was better.”
Now it was your turn to look at him confused. “What?”
“You brought me out to places when all I wanted was to hide. The nightmares stopped because you were there to make me feel safe. Every time I helped you, I was helping me too,” he said, voice cracking. “You were the best thing that ever happened to me. You weren’t too much for me, you never could be.”
When you still looked unsure, he moved his hand to cup your cheek. “It’s okay to let people help you, y/n.”
Tears pooled in your eyes once again. That had been what you had said to him when he began closing himself off, be it an intense nightmare or being triggered. Back when things were bad. Like they were for you now.
“I’m sorry,” you whispered.
“It’s okay.” he whispered, hugging you again. “Let’s go home.”

Summary: Noritoshi edges you every single night for 5 days. But edging you repeatedly, may not have been the best idea.
You currently have a very pleasant sex life with Noritoshi, your beloved boyfriend. Everything was in place. Trust, mood, and of course, safe words.
Adzuki (red beans) to stop. Matcha to slow down. Simple as that and usually nothing went wrong in the bedroom. You were on birth control pills, which made it so much easier for the both of you.
"Hey, how do you feel about orgasm denial?" Noritoshi asks you one night. You've been curious about it, knowing that you have good stamina and a solid track record of being patient.
"Sounds okay," You shrugged. You've done all sorts of things with him already in bed, and so far you've loved every single one. "Why not?"
Oh you were going to eat those words of yours.
You both agreed to edging you and only you for 4 days, while Noritoshi got to come over your body at the end of every session. He loves seeing you covered in him. Smelling like him.
You enjoyed it at first, loving it when he pumps his cum over your lips. Then you suck the head of his cock into your mouth, taking in as much cum as you can. His soft groans and praises make you light up.
He carefully thrusts two fingers into you, pumping in and out while he presses a vibrator against your clit. Removing them everytime you come near climax.
He was able to watch and experiment with your body a lot. Knowing exactly where your sweet spots are, and what makes you cum.
Noritoshi found it simply divine. Hearing you sob and moan his name so beautifully. Begging and promising to do anything in exchange to cum. Your hips lifting and following the vibrator everytime he moves his hands. Pink pussy watery and so wet, but unable to cum. Twitching and fluttering around nothing.
How your mouth waters as you stare at his long fingers.
He gives you consolation from time to time, letting you suck either his fingers or his dick. He also leaves sloppy wet kisses in your inner thigh and against the skin around your clit, making your hips push up.
You fall back against the bed after every session. His cuddles and kisses trying to cover up for the aching feeling down between your legs.
But on the night of the 4th day, you were at your limit. It was actually so frustrating to be edged, only to be stopped. It was difficult to fall asleep after.
You were miserable and horny, but incredibly excited for the next night.
Only for Noritoshi to suggest something else the next day, "Do you think you can try for one more night?" He asked.
You gulped, seeing him look not so secretly pleased. 'He looks like he's really enjoying this. I don't wanna disappoint him.'
"Don't worry, I'll let you come tonight. I just have some ideas in mind, but I wanted it to be a surprise." He smirked.
"Okay. I'll be good for you." You meekly answered. His smile was so warm and loving, you forgot about your needs for a bit, hugging him tight.
"Such a good girl for me darling. I love you."
"I love you too Toshi."
But you were at wits end later that night. Stark naked, with the addition of handcuffs and some ropes to hold you down. Your legs spread far apart, exposing your quivering cunt.
It's been 2 hours of edging. Scratch that, it's been 5 nights. You were close to breaking.
You sobbed for the millionth time that week as Noritoshi kissed your pussy and sat back to pause.
He pressed the vibrator against your clit, watching as your legs shook, only to remove it as you started trembling.
"You can't come yet." He said softly, yet firmly.
"Why not?" You gasped. "I've been so good for you."
Noritoshi's eyebrows raised. "Because I say so." Edging you multiple more times. He was so focused on your body that he failed to see tears streaming down against your temples.
"Toshiii," You were full on sobbing and shaking. "Please let me cum. Adzuki! Adzuki! I can't do this anymore! Adzuki!"
Static white noise.
Noritoshi heard his pulse thunder against his ears upon hearing you use your safe word. Never had you ever used it before. Not even when he tied you up and fucked you over 5 rounds that one night until you were a sobbing drooling mess.
"Nuh-no more!! No! Don't want!" You babbled and shook your head, trying to move away from him.
His heart broke to see you like this.
He dropped everything, undoing your ties and massaging your limp arms, pulling you close as you cried frustratedly into his chest, cuddling and frantically hushing you.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." You were apologising as you shook your head and pushed him away.
No. This was not how it was supposed to go.
"Baby I'm the one who's sorry. Shhhhh, Toshi is here. Okay, I'll stop, I'll make you cum. I promise." He rushed the words out in a hurry.
"I'm sorry," You kept repeating apologies, crying and shaking your head. You didn't seem to hear a word he was saying.
He pressed his lips tenderly into yours and breathed air into your mouth. "Follow my breaths." He commanded.
That tone. He used that voice you could never resist listening to and following. So you slowed down your breathing until you matched his pace. He rubbed slow circles onto your back.
"You're such a good girl. The best, my one and only angel," he softly cooed. You preened, feeling yourself slip further into a subspace. Your head felt so foggy.
"Why are you apologising?" He asked gently as he finally notices your tears and wipes it away.
Your lips started trembling, " buh-Because I cuh-couldn't do it anymore. I'm not *hic* good enough for yuh-you. I wuh-wanted to come but you…. said… hold off longer… can't-" you started breathing heavily again but he kissed you to distract you.
"No, no that's not your fault. That's mine for not taking care of you properly. I pushed you way past your limits. I'm sorry. You are more than enough for me, you know that. Can you forgive Toshi?" He nuzzled into the side of your face.
Deep inside, Noritoshi was actually losing it. Mentally slapping himself for letting you feel this way to the point you had to use a safe word. He never wanted you to feel this way with him.
"But I wuh-want t-to feel good together with you. I can handle maybe 3 days of no cumming, but 5 is too much," You hiccuped.
"Yes, I'm sorry. I know that now. Whatever you want, I'll do for you now. Okay?"
You looked up at him with the biggest eyes ever, his heart clenched. "Anything?"
"Anything. As long as it won't hurt the both of us, I'll do it for you." He promised.
For someone who was so desperate to come, he watched you become shy. But the words that came out weren't, "Make love to me. Cum inside me Toshi." You begged him.
"Okay, if that's what you want." He quickly set to removing his clothes and fixed the bed, making sure you were as comfortable as you could be.
"Like this. I wanna face you. Stay close." You whimpered, holding out two hands.
Missionary position. Noritoshi's and your personal favorite, because of how intimate it is. He pushes your legs far apart, revealing your aching hole.
You were still loose from the stretching he did earlier, but there was a slight burn as he entered you. You welcomed it wholeheartedly.
His cock was inside. His cock was inside of you. Finally!
You teared up again, wanting this for so long.
"Shhhh," he tried to calm you down as you cried some more.
"So happy, you're finally inside of me Toshi," You sniffed.
Distantly, Noritoshi thought he heard something like a tightly coiled string snap. You looked absolutely delectable right now. Pussy a bright red and your face a teary mess.
He was rock hard down there as he started out with deep and shallow thrusts.
"Yes, yes, more, give" You moaned, hooking your legs around his waist to prevent him from pulling all the way out.
"Anything for my angel." Noritoshi sucked on that tender part of skin under your ear.
You felt him glide in and out of you and it was such a relief against your vaginal walls.
You went on like that with him for a while, with Noritoshi stroking your cheek, making sure you felt good as he started to move faster.
But something felt off. "Toshi," You cried.
"What is it baby?" He looked over you in alarm.
"Can't cum. Don't know. Feels weird." Your body wasn't used to it anymore, the sensations feeling familiar but not exactly the same as before.
You felt absolutely horrible, your body was at that knife's edge of tipping into orgasm, but it wouldn't.
"Listen to me okay? Let it happen. Do you trust me? Do you trust your Toshi?"
You looked up into his eyes, and was surprised by their intensity. So dark. His hair, his eyes, his expression. His focus was 120% on you. On making you feel good.
You loved that about Noritoshi. He was incredibly sincere and pure hearted about everything he did. "Yes I trust you. I love you."
"I love you too Angel. Hold on tight." He let you grip onto his shoulders as he held onto your hips and started slamming his hips up and down, driving his cock so deep like it never did before.
He watched as you yelped at a certain angle, and changed his thrusts to hit that soft spot deep inside.
Your arms shot out to grab the sheets beside you as you keened, feeling intense pleasure while Noritoshi hits your G spot repeatedly.
"Please, please," You whined, tears falling past your cheeks, breaths uneven.
"There there now. Toshi is here. You're allowed to cum anytime. I will give it to you." He kissed away your tears and pressed close as he continued to pound into you.
Your breath hitched, feeling him poke against your tummy. "Toshii, I ugh-" you started to lose coherence as you felt a wild spark of heat down below.
"Let go." Noritoshi refused to come before you did, holding off his orgasm despite how your velvety wet insides molded and squeezed him perfectly.
He reached down with one hand to furiously rub your clit, lighting up all the nerves in your body. He used his cursed technique to move faster and faster, hips moving at an unearthly pace.
"Toshiiii-ahhhhn!" You screamed as your body violently convulsed, your pussy creaming around his cock and contracting madly as you finally came. It was the hardest and most intense one that you've ever experienced.
"That's it, my angel, come for me." He praised you as your screams increased in pitch and volume. He held you down as you thrashed about, not wanting you to slip off of him.
You tightened so much that it almost made him cum right away. Almost.
Noritoshi hooked his arms around your legs as he chased off his own orgasm. Skin slapping harshly against skin. He pushed in at a deeper angle.
"Yesyesyes," You moaned despite still reeling from your orgasm high. "Fuck me, fuck yes, more!"
Noritoshi was practically snarling as he continued pummeling into you, finally cumming and stuffing you full. "So tight! You've been so good for me, and look at you. You're perfect baby."
You trembled even harder upon feeling his dick throb and the cum slosh inside of you.
"Are you still coming? You're such a good girl, coming on my cock like this. So pretty." He grinded deeper and continued playing with your clit and nipples, making you twitch as you rode out your second orgasm gently.
You made sounds of choking and gasping which made him slow down. "Is that too much for you? It's okay baby. It's okay."
You tried to reply, but all that came out was a string of incoherent sounds, like a baby's babbling. Noritoshi smiled.
He made you cum 4 more times and stuffed you well past your capacity, feeling his seed seep out of your cunny and run down your ass. Pressing you down against the mattress as he rutted into you as he continued spurting loads inside of you.
You refused to let him pull out even when he grew soft.
"Stay."
And so Noritoshi did, because he promised you anything you wanted.
You sniffed quietly, but he heard it of course. "Baby" He cooed as he held you closer, but you refused to look into his eyes.
"Don't tell me you're still mad?"
You pouted, but shook your head. "I agreed to it. I wanted to be so good for you-"
"You are," he cut you. "You are so good. 5 days as opposed to the original 4 nights. I really was supposed to make you come tonight. And you did so well to make it this far, but I won't push you to do something like this anymore. It's my fault for extending it."
You shut your eyes. "I thought you would be disappointed if I told you I couldn't do it. You looked so excited to try out so much stuff in the bedroom." You bit your lip hard, but he reached out to stop you from doing that.
You sucked on his fingers while he pressed his lips against your forehead. "I won't be disappointed if you tell me no. I need to know the extent of your boundaries, so we can work out what's best for the both of us. Don't think I'd leave you for someone else who could last a week without cumming just because. That's not how I feel. I want to experiment with you and you only. You understand?"
You finally looked up at him and you were shocked to see how worried he was. Eyebrows all scrunched up. A big frown on his face. You kissed him, "I understand."
He pressed in closer. "Good girl. Such a good girl for Toshi. I'm so proud of you."
You let out a sob at that. And he patted your back as you cried off whatever heaviness you had left inside of your chest, emotional baggage now a lot lighter.
"You're right. I was scared you'd leave for someone who could handle you better in bed." You whispered after you finally calmed down.
"Mmm, not gonna happen. Ever. You're stuck with me. Forever."
"Forever sounds nice Toshi."
Author's Notes: When I say that I'm so down bad for Noritoshi, I legit am on Noritoshi brain rot. And me being stuck at home with a lockdown is definitely fueling this XD. I'm supposed to be working on Blood Bound, but I couldn't help but write this because I felt the sudden urge to.
Hope you enjoyed reading! - Mon
