Lorraine was excited as she was ready to see her partner. Today had been a good filming day and it was local! That didn’t stop Lorraine from getting in the truck for a ride home. She didn’t want to get hurt by people in the town due to her losing her faith and her being a porno as well. Wayne was driving her as RJ was in the back with Maxine, Bobby and Jackson. This time they were filming a porno about 3 girls being slutty restaurant workers. Jackson was the patron and had used all 3 of them that day. Lorraine was just excited to see her partner though, and had checked the time constantly.

After around 10 minutes she was dropped off. “There you go Mouse,” Wayne spoke. They kept the same nickname with her without the church due to her not having faith anymore.  

“Thank you,” she said with a smile as she said goodbye to everyone, hugging Maxine and Bobby before running to her house practically. She had invited her lover there after her shoot and they said they would. She was soon through the door, looking for you immediately. That’s when she saw you cooking. “Baby,” she spoke happily and bounded over, hugging you tightly. You smiled immediately, kissing her gently. “Hey,” you spoke gently as you were chuckling. “Makin’ dinner. Good shoot?” you asked, kissing her forehead. “Yeah, we did a few scenes today and only had to redo one. We also had sandwiches and lemonade for lunch so I was cravin’ your cooking,” she responded and you chuckled with a nod. “At least I knew approximately when you came back,” you laughed a bit before plating up. It was just a pasta you had made up in your head, using the leftovers. She sat down eager, as you were soon handing over the food. “Thanks, baby,” she stated, waiting for you to sit down before she started. You loved that. “Want a drink?” you asked. “Yes! Coke please, I do want energy for tonight,” she smirked, causing you to blush and get 2 for the both of you. That’s when you sat down, handing hers over and you started to eat. You were also prepared for the night.

It was about 8 pm and you had just finished watching a film with Lorraine when she was kissing your neck. “My special little lover,” she murmured as she was soon rolling on top of you, kissing you deeply. You kissed back, holding her side as you knew she was ready. You could also feel her bulge on your stomach so you were even more excited about it. That’s when she suddenly laid you down and got on top, playing with your shorts. “You may,” you gasped, knowing what she wanted. She smirked, tugging them down and was surprised to see you commando. “Good,” she praised before removing your shirt, revealing you had no bra on too. Her dick twitched at that. 

That’s when she stripped down needily, kissing you before she was rubbing you gently, then entered a finger in slowly. She didn’t want you to be in pain after all. After realising you were loose enough, that’s when she added 2 more fingers and stretched you out fully, getting you ready for her. You appreciated that. “I think I’m loose enough,” you spoke shyly, moaning quietly as Lorraine nodded. “Just say water if you can’t handle it,” she hummed before she was slowly entering inside. You nodded. 

She was slow and gentle as she was entering, kissing you gently to help distract you from the pain. You were thankful for that, holding her as gently as possible. “There we go baby,” she muttered gently against your neck. “I’m fully inside, I’ll let you adjust for a few moments,” she added as she was marking your neck fully. You appreciated that, glad to be her lover as she was so much gentler with you than others in the films. 

Eventually, after a minute, you nodded. “Thank you, my love,” Lorraine spoke before she started to thrust into you. She was gentle and slow at first, kissing you gently to distract you from the slight pain at first. She hated to see you in pain after all. You soon tilted your neck, whimpering as you wanted her to mark you. You needed it. Lorraine meanwhile was groping at your chest with one hand, kissing your cheek as she thrusted.

Soon enough she was marking your shoulders too, as she was speeding up. She was also getting rougher as well. She knew you could handle it though like all the other times. Your moans also proved it as she kept going with a smirk, soon starting to suck on your nipples. She noticed how you clenched your hands around her. From that, she knew you were close. She was close herself, but she always wanted you to come first. She loved it whenever you tightened against her after all.

Soon enough you came, tightening around her dick. That’s when Lorraine kissed you suddenly, stopping the loud moan before she came hard inside, loving how you kissed back even more needier. “You did good baby,” she panted out with a smile, before kissing you much more gently, staying inside. 

“I love you,” you murmured, tired. She chuckled. 

“I love you too baby, always will,” she responded and cuddled you. “After a good cuddle session then we can clean up,” she added. You nodded, happy to be held and too tired to walk.

Something I'm fascinated about the comic is how you've managed to make characters that, even if they appear for a little bit, are memorable, likable and worth caring about. For example, Clever and Quiet appear only for a short while but it's enough to establish their characters and for the readers to know a few things about their personalities, and thus make audiences care about their deaths. And from the few scenes they have, they've made quite an impact on the overall story. Taking notes!

The reaction to Quiet and her death kinda surprised me. it just shows what sensitive and caring readers we have when a character with only a handful of lines dying is genuinely saddening to them. I knew people would be shocked but actually sad and demanding answers like they had actually lost somebody dear to them? It certainly added a layer to her character for me that wasn't there when we first started.

The fact that what happened to her was brutal and shocking aside, I think what helped for us is A Quiet Moment as a chapter. I feel it was important for those close to Quiet to reflect on her death and have it sink in for them as well as the audience. Quiet wasn't just cannon fodder, she was an individual who had people in the story who would miss her and who would be impacted by her death.

Very much like the readers who had their own feelings and aspirations for her.

Careful love will always get me too. I'm glad she has a lot of fans nowadays because she deserves all the nice things and I can't wait for folks to see more of her and her cubs. Their bond and dynamic are such a nice contrast to write when compared to that of Vicious and her own children.

There's also Tempest who we haven't seen in a good long while, and yet she also has her own fans. Presumably because she is super mysterious as a character.

Just the fact that folks are hooked on these characters and we have so much planned for them is super exciting ahh <33 - RJ

Did Lily ever hookup with any of the other companions and what factions did she work with before arriving to Nuka World?

Was she the typical civilian (minuteman type) and got corrupted by the wasteland/enticed by the raiders of Nuka World or was she always a little Neutral Evil?

Never apologize for a long ask!! I love in depth questions like this!! I really loved this ask and was so excited I had to answer this the moment I saw it!! This answer is super long btw! I couldn't JUST answer these questions, I had to give you a full history of my OC.

So I have been thinking of Lilly's story for a long time, along with her character development. She is originally based on my evil Overboss playthrough of Fallout 4 where I completely ignore the main story LOL. I get to Nuka World as soon as possible by leveling up, mostly by doing Good Neighbor and Cabot family/Edward Deegan missions.

So Lilly's story isn't quite set in stone! But my main idea so far is that she is pre-war. Lilly does come from Vault 111 but she isn't the mother of Shaun and isn't the Sole Survivor. That's her brothers problem, who gets out of the vault a few days before she does. He goes one way, using his military training and desire for revenge to survive, becoming the leader of the minutemen(or he joins the Brotherhood. Maybe both?? idk yet) Meanwhile Lilly escapes Vault 111 and goes a completely different direction.

The vault is picked clean, and the body's of her brother and nephew are missing, while her sister in laws corpse has a bullet in her skull. Lilly finds no sign of her brother, and doesn't search too hard either. She leaves the vault, avoiding the neighborhood of Sanctuary and the possible people that lived there, their campfires burning brightly in the night only deterring her away.

Lilly's pre-war life wasn't military like her brothers. She was a "no good hippie" who was between jobs and staying with her brother and his wife until she "got back on her feet," Her brother took her in. In return she would help her PTSD stricken brother and his depressed wife take care of their brand new infant son.

Lilly was seen as no good to most in the pre irradiated world. She had been a part of the large underground punk scene in Boston, becoming a disgrace to her family and a nuisance towards the police. Her life had always been chaos, never knowing quite what she wanted to do as she jumped from job to job trying to keep money in her pocket that was instantly spent on drugs and lipstick.

Lilly doesn't even spare a second glance at the vault or neighborhood as she heads into the wasteland. She is more than prepared to leave her old life behind in the ashes of the old world, so she immediately finds a change of clothes, some chems, and heads towards Boston. She doesn't know why Boston, maybe just morbid curiosity of what the city had turned into. Maybe in search for drugs and answers to why she was still living. Her mindset is that of a depressed addict. Nothing on her mind but that next hit that would bring her that sweet rush of endorphins.

She enters the world with little to no knowledge. She can fight decently with her fists and switchblade, pick locks, run her mouth and hardly shoot a gun. She has a rough time getting to Boston, the weirdly smart German Shepherd she finds at a gas station, and lovingly names Dogmeat, helps her survive her first few weeks in the wasteland.

Soon she finds herself in Boston, and like all drifters, she quickly finds herself in Goodneighbor. She immediately sees the potential in the city and in its mob boss ghoul mayor. Lilly and Hancock quickly become romantically involved. (She is def fucking Maccready in secret too. But RJ is nothing more than some fun to her. She also has a fling with Edward Deegan who she also meets in Goodneighbor when he comes offering a job.)

In my au Hancock is a bit darker and mob boss like, Lilly corrupting him slightly. She helps clean up the city, both metaphorically and physically. She wipes the triggermen out, and takes down Marowski. Long story short they take over his chem empire and become the main chem bosses and suppliers of the commonwealth. They build Goodneigbor into an empire. Her charisma and luck are incredibly high, making it all the easier for her.

John teaches Lilly about the Commonwealth, about proper fighting and weapons. She gains as much knowledge as she can about the new world, settling into the line of leadership and manipulation well. But John wants something real and long term. He loves her, but Lilly doesn't love him in return. He has big ideas for the future, from helping synths to building supply lines to marrying her. Lilly doesn't share the same feelings or ambitions, so she leaves.

She takes her knowledge and weapons of the new world and leaves Goodneighbor without warning and without a trace. She disappears yet again into the wasteland until the best thing to ever happen to her since finding Dogmeat happens. She finds Nuka World and meets Porter Gage. Or maybe he finds her instead?? I don't quite have how they meet picked out yet but I have some ideas!

So yes, Lilly has always been a bit evil! She had a few loose screws in the beginning and the Cryo pod only made it worse. She is corrupted before the bombs, but the wasteland corrupts her further and further. By the time she reaches Nuka World she is already a pretty bad person who is scarred inside and out. Meeting and joining the raiders only corrupt her further. Gage actually helps her get clean and off of chems, but she does get a little crazier. But she couldn't be happier. Porter Gage and Nuka World become her lifeline.

Gage does change her for the better. Lilly finally able to commit to things in her life for once, like her romantic relationship with Gage and job as Overboss.

Fun fact: I actually named Lilly after my evil five pound toy poodle. Lilly is a grumpy old bitch of a dog. She is my whole entire world but she has some screws loose for sure.

So the short answer: Yes! She does hook up with other companions, but only John Hancock and RJ maccready. She also sleeps with Edward Deegan, having a short fling with him. All of these relationships are nothing compared to what she has with Porter Gage, their bond being actual love. Lilly is factionless, choosing to go her own way entirely. She becomes a mob boss before completely ditching that life and disappearing on the irradiated wind before finding Nuka World. Starting over with yet another new life. Lilly is a bit evil from the beginning, but the wasteland does corrupt her further.

OK so, I have about 4 fics for this fandom I'm actively working on, and 2 that are only mirage dreams as of yet but I REALLY want to make them happen.

One of the as yet unwritten is a sequel to my latest RJ oneshot, where Jamie's a stablehand and Roy's taking riding lessons for therapy reasons. It's cute and you should read it, fyi!

The Dynamic! I have vague plot ideas that I also want to get to, but I this AU royjamie is so fun in my head and I've been daydreaming about actually writing them interacting.

Edit 04/16/2024:

Putting all this here because I don't feel like making a whole post for this by itself & would rather have it somewhere that those who are actually looking for it can easily find it!

I've been hemming & hawwing about rewriting BLP for months now (if you've followed me through my bitching I commend you) & finally decided that in order for me to be truly proud & invested in what I was working on, I needed to refocus on a lot of things.

First, I haven't really written any new content for BLP in...months. I've just been trying to rework what I had and getting increasingly unhappy with it because I felt that since I had dedicated so much time to these ideas, they should be used. This lead me to realize that the entire fic needed reworking in small and major ways. I definitely see myself using a lot of what I've written here for the rewrite, just recontextualizing it and connecting it in more substantial ways to the major themes I want to hit on. Which was another issue.

I thought I had a major theme/throughline for the fic. I did not. Or rather, I did and it got very, very clumsy. Part of this comes from the fact that I did the bare minimum outlining because I was so excited to write & share what I was making. Things sort of started to get away from me & I was treating each chapter sort of as a one shot in itself so they were all sort of disconnected in a way that I was never happy with but felt too far into to do anything about. The clumsy handling of supposed major themes also came from what I identified as my main issue: I wasn't writing the fic I wanted to be writing.

In recent months I realized I was holding back. There were certain scenes, kinds of relationships, and graphic/violent themes I wanted to write about that I was scared about being received poorly despite the setting of Fallout being host to all sorts of dark & taboo things. Because of this I would shoot down my ideas as I was writing & subsequently became displeased with what I was making because I wasn't really getting to the crux of what I really wanted to write. Like ghosting around it in a way that coming back to the fic now, basically a whole year later, did not jive with me.

There's also the matter of Georgia developing a lot more in my head than what I was writing down. It's like every time I would strike out an old idea I could feel her over my shoulder in a "you're butchering me, you're butchering my character arc!" way lmfao. Writing BLP has taught me a lot about my own OC, which is kind of wild. This was Proto-Georgia. Pilot Georgia. First Draft Georgia.

Despite it all though, BLP has helped me a lot in terms of writing improvement! It's also helped me find lots of cool people in the fandom with amazing OCs and fics of their own. So for that, I probably won't delete this version of BLP for now, if only so it serves as a reminder of where I started!

RJ's Platinum Collection #7: Until Dawn

Once again I decided to replay a game I had already gone through once on my old console. However, I don't think I could ever get tired of Until Dawn. It is truly a modern classic in horror game titles, and it spawned a whole generation of multi-branching story horror games and I am ALL ABOUT the multi-branching stories. So the Until Dawn platinum was next on my list!

Now Until Dawn, which tells the story of eight teenagers who come together for a party at a lodge on a freezing, cold, and dark mountain one night, only to find themselves fighting for their lives against a psychopathic killer (except not really, I think everyone knows that the plot twist is that there are actual monsters on the mountain). It was one of the first horror games I remember having the mechanic that how many of the characters surviving depended entirely on your choices, which is still super fun. I still watch Lets Plays of this game now in 2024!

Because of the nature of the game, you could actually play the entire game all the way through and not get a SINGLE trophy depending on your choices and reaction times, but that is very rare. And since I had played it before, I knew exactly what to do to get all of the trophies.

So of course, I went for a Everybody Lives playthrough, while getting as many trophies as possible, and locating all of the collectibles, which in this case are three sets of clues and the Totems which give you hints about future choices in the story.

1/19: The Psycho Path - Sam or Ashley attacked the psychopath with a weapon.

2/19: Scream Too! - Mike cut off all his fingers to save himself from the bear trap.

3/19: You Opened Their Eyes - The group found all of the clues from the Mystery Man clueline.

4/19: Let Em In - Mike allowed Emily to stay in the basement.

5/19: The Fateful Descent - The group found all of the clues from the 1952 clueline.

6/19: The Skilful Wolf Man - Mike kept the wolf alive throughout the Sanatorium.

7/19: The Tale of The Two Sisters - The group found all of the clues from the Twins clueline.

8/19: Night of the Totem Hunter - The group found all of the Totems.

9/19: The Quicker Man - All of the boys survived the night.

11/19: They All Live - All eight characters survived until dawn.

12/19: Four Daughters of Darkness - All of the girls survived the night.

After completing the Everybody Lives playthrough, I quickly replayed Chapter 10 to get the trophy for Sam immediately setting the lodge on fire instead of waiting for her friends to escape.

13/19: Instant Inferno - Sam immediately flicked the switch to set the lodge ablaze.

And then I played the entire game a second time, but this time I was going for killing everyone off, and getting all the four trophies specifically related to some of the ways the characters can die. I also made everyone gigantic assholes during this playthrough - just for fun hehe.

14/19: Fatal Grudge - Chris chose to shoot Ashley.

15/19: Ashley Snaps - Ashley snapped and let Chris die.

16/19: The Exorcism of Emily - Mike shot Emily.

17/19: You Let The Wrong One In! - Ashley or Chris opened the trap door and let the monster in.

18/19: This Is THE End - Nobody survived until dawn.

19/19: A Symphony of Horror Trophies - Collect all of the trophies in Until Dawn.

Until Dawn remains one of my favorite games of all time, and I think every horror fan should play it at least once.

Also, I am VERY excited for the upcoming remake! I can't wait to see what they do with the game, especially since I know that several of the actors returned to film new scenes. However, I think that if the remake does NOT have a new trophy list, I will skip actually playing it and just watch someone else play it on YouTube.

so i just watched the dark along the ways. my brain is on fire. i loved this episode, and i have a little gushing to do about it. some quick stuff first before i talk about mister randall thor:

the Ways and the Blight both have such visually striking and unsettling designs and i am a big fan. the Blight especially is amazing – the trees all bent into those horrible starfish shapes like they’re trying to climb on top of each other is absolutely dread-inducing and i am vibing with it

THE BLOOD SNOW. literally all i can say is wow. the cold opener was so well-executed, and the flashback worked so so well. Book fans get an absolute treat seeing a scene only roughly sketched out in the books put to screen, and show fans get a taste of that glorious confusion that comes with reading the eye of the world’s prologue for the first time. there’s something for everyone.

related: i was so very sad when they cut out tam’s fever rambles in the first ep, even though i understood why they did it – so when it showed up here i felt like i had been punched. definitely my favorite and possibly the objective best choice of shifting a story beat the show’s done so far, it hurt so bad

very interested in what the show’s doing with fain. i think it is super funny how they’re trying to attach him to every form of darkness the westlands have, and i also think they’re right to do it – rj should have just let fain collect flavors of evil until he had a perfect pokémon team of them

alright. rand time. i think that what made this episode so fantastic was its rock-solid sense of focus, and a lot of that focus came from finally, finally being able to focus on the actual dragon instead of constantly having to mess with the mystery bullshit. this is not to say that i hate that they extended the possibility of being the dragon reborn to egwene and nynaeve (cheers for dissolving wot’s gender essentialism!), but i do think that the show tore off more than it could chew when it tried to pursue that concept in too many directions at once. Something about the plot was irritating me this whole time , but I couldn’t put a finger on it until this episode, when the show finally freed itself of that clutter, and it felt like breathing fresh air for the first time.

The Dragon Reborn

This is about the book, btw, not the character. Though technically...

Wow I really flew through this one too. The storylines were really compelling to me, I can't think of any particular reason why, though. And the climax was just a masterpiece.

Spoilers below!

Perrin is actually one of the characters with the most compelling POV to me. I really enjoyed reading all of his parts, whether it was him getting angry at Moiraine for holding information or freeing Gaul (who I've heard is excellent and I'm really excited about) or when he accidentally told Zarine/Faile that Rand was the Dragon Reborn and Moiraine just turned around like what. did you just say. So, I really enjoyed his section of the storyline.

It was interesting to finally meet Faile. I've heard a lot of people on tumblr say they dislike her, but I've heard others say they thought she was fine, so I was curious to meet her and figure out my perspective. So far, at least, I think she just seems like a girl who has a crush on Perrin but is not very good at flirting. For example, she gives him nicknames (indication of flirting) but he really dislikes them (failure of flirting). Right now I don't really have an opinion of her as being good or bad. It was kind of interesting to see Perrin starting to fall for her, though, when I feel like they haven't really connected at all yet.

I really liked Perrin getting to see Hopper again and through the course of the book accept his wolf side a little more and hunt with him. The whole ending scene where he was looking for Faile in the Dreamworld Stone of Tear was pretty epic. RJ continues to impress with his prose.

Rand is freaking me out a bit at this point. I'm pretty sure he's like... learned to use balefire at this point, since when he vaporized those dogs like I talked about in the last review the description is the same as every time Moiraine uses balefire - "a bar of white light." So that's... a bit concerning.

Okay so when he literally just kills that merchant woman and her guards? When I first read the scene I immediately went Rand is mad already??? But on reread I see that he's talking about how he can't make a mistake, which leads me to believe he's not quite crazy, but he is trying to leave no traces behind him... which leads to him beheading some people. Not cool Rand.

But he also levitates them into a kneeling position and then says that's the way it's supposed to be so maybe he really is mad already. And I'm pretty sure he also killed a Gray Man in the confusion, which is very ta'veren of him.

MAT! Mat's storyline was definitely my favorite of all of them, because I have been waiting to hear from him!! His headspace is so interesting. The scene where he takes down Gawyn and Galad is truly iconic, and his constant trying to convince himself he's not as sick as he is, that's fascinating. I honestly think he's the funniest character to have a POV from, because his internal monologue is so opposite to how he truly is, and because he actually just is funny.

I read the first scene where Mat's luck was incredible and I was so wide-eyed with every word. I CANNOT believe that his gambling plan actually worked. And I loved when he got to Tear and figured out how his luck worked, with it being random to get to where he needed to go. That's such a unique idea for a character's powers. A mathy way of being ta'veren, I guess.

Mat's fireworks also KILLED me every time Thom freaked out over them. Poor Thom is just trying to be responsible for this 19 year old here. (How old are they? I can't remember.)

And last but not least, the Wondergirls. Is that an actual name for them from canon, or just the fandom name? In any case, they are so interesting in their interactions with each other, how their relationships shift within the group. For example, at the beginning of the book I still felt that Elayne was a bit on the outside to the pair of Nynaeve and Egwene, but by the end of TDR I felt that they were more a trio.

I loved their time in the White Tower, because (lol) it felt like a school AU, since they were technically being taught about the Power at Aes Sedai school. I do have to say though, and I'm not sure if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I am so frustrated with Egwene's crush on Galad. Currently Galad is NOT in my top characters list. Maybe everyone thinks that though.

The only reason I'm annoyed with them right now is how they treated Mat after he came all that way to rescue them in the Stone, and how they were really reluctant to say thank you. Of course, Mat's not perfect in his interactions with the girls either, but it rubbed me the wrong way.

I gave this a 5/5 on Goodreads, and out of 10 I would say probably a 9/10! I'm really only rating it less than 10 because I know everyone says there are incredible books to come and I want to have room to rate those a 10, but I really, REALLY enjoyed and flew through The Dragon Reborn.

lots of spoilers under the cut. also i wrote way too much and i worked all night and haven’t slept so i didn’t bother to reread literally any of it, so it might be completely nonsensical, tho if you don’t expect that from me by this point idk whose blog you’ve been reading

hokay, first off, i’ll start by saying that i enjoyed it more than i expected to. i’ve been avoiding any sort of discussion about stuff, but my google algorithm is so fucked at this point that i still get recommended articles and stuff every now and then, so i was already pretty aware of what i was walking into, and was expecting it to be eh, but actually i prob enjoyed it more than i enjoyed the finale

(don’t get too excited tho, the finale was rly boring lmfao)

anyway

episode starts off with a tense scouting mission

it takes .005 seconds into the episode for caryl to exchange a look of longing, establishing that they are still having weird conflict and are both too fucking stubborn to do anything about it even tho they hate it desperately

i imagine that will continue for a while

rosita, kelly, carol, maggie, what’s her face with the bad hair, and lydia (i think that’s everyone?) lower down to some army bunker or something, where a bunch of walkers are taking a snooze, and the girls are very respectful of walker naptime, and do their best not to wake them up

obviously they eventually wake up, but i’ll get to that in a sec

as they’re tiptoeing through the walker tulips, there’s this split second where carol spots a machine gun, and looks at maggie with a face like, “can i plzzzz, i am mad horny for that machine gun,” but maggie tells her no. (i 110% expected her to defy orders and accidentally wake up all the walkers, but she actually behaved herself for once. well. mostly)

never fear, tho, after the girl gang collects a bunch of MREs they go back to wait for the dudes waiting up top to pull them up, and bc men ruin everything, one of the ropes break, and daryl catches it before it falls, but then a slow motion drop of blood falls on a walker’s face, and just like that, walker naptime is over, and carol uses her bow and arrow for two seconds before she is like “fuck this” and whips out the machine gun

yes, she is super hot using it

yes, daryl watches her do it

anyway, all the other girls get rescued, and carol is about to be pulled up, but bc she is a #girlboss, she first makes a beeline for one more crate full of MREs. daryl covers her while she gets the loot, and when she gets back up top they have another charged moment as carol hands him back his knife

BUT, we do get to see uncle daryl run and hug rj and judith (and dog), and FUCKING HERSHEL JR, LIGHT OF MY LIFE is also there

cut to a staff meeting where everyone is like, whomp whomp, we’re all gonna starve to death unless we figure out something quick

cue maggie going, “oh, i know where food is, but it requires me to tell you my tragic backstory, in case anyone didn’t watch my bottle episode”

she tells her dramatic backstory about all her friends getting slaughtered by the reapers for no apparent reason, and then she’s like “anyway, let’s go back there!”

no one thinks it’s a great idea, but a group of people decide to go anyway, including daryl and gabriel. rosita is super pissed that gabriel is going, and carol doesn’t go, probably partly bc it’s a shitty fucking idea, and also bc they have to keep caryl apart bc otherwise they’ll fix their problems ahead of schedule and they won’t be able to drag out the needless angst

daryl looks kind of annoyed that carol doesn’t volunteer to go 

bitch, i thought you wanted her to stop putting herself in the line of fire! make up your damn mind!

moving on

cut to a thunderstorm, where, if you look closely, you’ll notice daryl is wearing the STUPIDEST hat i’ve ever seen. just get an umbrella, jfc

for some reason negan is with them, bc ig he knows his way around washington dc, and no one in six years has bothered to figure out how to get around the city and/or get a map, and he is like “hey guys, maybe we shouldn’t try to walk in this fucking hurricane,” and everyone is like “FUCK YOU NEGAN, YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF US!!!” 

this will be a common occurrence 

but eventually daryl is even like “actually, it’s rly unpleasant out here, and my hat is mad stupid, can we go inside plz?”

so they go inside an old metro station, which is actually a rly cool cinematic choice. i rly like the idea, and they executed it rly well

speaking of executions

there are some fucking RULL CREEPY walkers. idk why they bothered me so badly, but they were what they at first assumed were corpses wrapped up in tarps, but turns out none of them had been properly put down, so they go through killing these rotted bodies that had supposedly been there since The Fall, and it’s very gross and cool

this entire time, btw, negan is like “hey, i know i’m a shitty person, but i have some rational arguments about why we shouldn’t be doing this right now,” and everyone is like, “FUCK YOU NEGAN, YOU’RE NOT THE BOSS OF US!!!” and he’s just like “god fucking damnit”

(i forgot to mention that at one point, when they’re headed into the metro station, negan is trying to warn ppl of the potential danger, and everyone is ignoring him, and he tries to talk to daryl, and daryl is like “fuck you, you think we’re BUDDIES?” and negan is like “oh, ok, so you’re gonna be like that too? fanfreakingtastic” and it’s very funny)

anyway. a fat monster zombie escapes its tarp at one point, and tries to eat some npc, and negan saves him, again is like “hey, anyone else realize that this is a FUCKING BAD PLAN?”, and everyone is like “we don’t care, you’re still shitty and we’re not listening to you, and you don’t actually care about random npc i would literally not be able to pick out in a lineup bc his face is so generic, you’re not the boss of us!!!”

it’s at this point that negan finally is like, “why am i even here? bc i know how to get around washington dc? do none of you have a map?” and i was like, “right?! that’s what i said!” 

it’s then revealed that maggie only brought negan along to murder him under the guise of “oops, he got hurt in the line of duty, it wasn’t my fault,” and daryl has this look on his face that says, “i seriously need to stop hanging out with lethal women bent on revenge bc it’s gonna give me high blood pressure,” and maggie has a badass moment where she points a gun she has for some reason at negan and is like “i have like, one shred of human compassion left inside of me, and if you keep pushing me i will fucking kill you without a second thought, so shut the hell up”

(in her defense, negan had just dropped glenn’s name to purposely antagonize her, which was rude as hell)

(for the record, i’m completely on maggie’s side here, but negan still is right that trapping themselves in a metro station is a bad call)

anyway, moving away from that briefly

i think this jump cut happens sooner, i don’t actually remember, but whatever who cares, point is, we get to the part of the show that actually matters, and that’s anything involving my love, juanita “princess” sanchez

and also eugene, yumiko, and ezekiel

they are being asked increasingly invasive questions by commonwealth ppl, some of which i wish they actually would of answered (what do they use to wipe their asses with?? surely toilet paper has long since become extinct)

zeke, who is so much more tolerable as a character now that he’s not larping as a king, has this incredibly weird and sort of sexually charged moment with a dude in an orange stormtrooper costume, where he’s like, “i bet you were an asshole cop back before The Fall, you stupid fascist, #fuckthepolice, mb literally? idk, this moment has a lot of pent up aggression that could easily translate to hate sex, it might just be the intense eye contact, but w/e, let’s just move along,” and then he has a coughing fit to remind the audience that he’s currently dying of cancer, and orange stormtrooper is like “lolz, loser, drink some water you dumb piece of shit”

cut to the wholesome foursome sitting at a picnic table in a guarded courtyard eating gruel, and yumkio, who finally has a personality, and princess are like “hey, this place fucking sucks, can we leave?” and zeke is like, “yeah, i met this orange stormtrooper who i think might be dtf and/or murder, so we should probably bounce”

but eugene is like, “but i want some hot stephanie ass, and also some bullshit excuse about how mb commonewealth will save alexandria” which, they left before things went super downhill, right? idr. it was after hilltop fell, but they don’t know alexandria got fucked either, if i recall? w/e, not important

two seconds after he says this, they talk to some people who are like “we’ve been here for four months, or maybe it’s been nine, i don’t actually remember, i’ve stopped processing the passage of time,” and the wholesome foursome takes this as a bad sign, tho that’s just the life i’ve lived as a night worker during a pandemic, so i was like #mood

but then they watch some guy get dragged away screaming to get “reprocessed” and eugene is like “ok, nvm, let’s bounce”

(my theory on what “reprocessing” is, is that they’re stuck in a room and have to watch hours and hours of customer service training videos on vhs from the 90s)

i definitely got my jump cut scenes mixed up bc i think the negan accusing maggie of a murder plot thing happened in between this scene and then the next commonwealth scene, but w/e, i’ll just finish what happens in the commonwealth arch

the wholesome foursome are trying to hatch a plan to escape, except princess, my love, is distracted watching some stormtroopers flirt, and the other three are like “wtf, dude, how can you even tell any of them apart?” and princess then tells them every stormtroopers backstory bc she is brilliant and pays rly close attention to shit, and the other three are like, “this is useful information, thank you for being an insane person”

their plan involves yumiko and eugene dressing up as stormtroopers and leading princess and zeke out of the place, which works fine actually, except on their way out they come across the Depressing Wall of Probably Mostly Dead Missing Loved Ones

they’re about to leave, when princess is like, “wait, yumiko, you’re on here, that’s weird huh?”

sure enough, yumiko  is on the wall, with a note from ig her sister 

the scene ends with yumiko going, “guys...i can’t leave...i have tragic backstory to unveil”

tragic backstory to be continued ig

back in murder metro town, npc and some other npc have stolen all the supplies, there’s a train blocking the track, and a horde of walkers are coming towards them, so things are not going fantastic

they horde is too big to take down, so they start to climb on top of the train car to get away

but dog runs away!

and daryl, being every pet owner ever, is like “gotta go get my dog, guys, try not to get killed while i’m gone, c u soon!” and he ducks under the train and disappears

#priorities

the episode ends with maggie climbing up the train car but getting grabbed by a walker and dangling off the edge, and negan is there and they have a lion king moment where maggie is like, “scar! help me!” and negan is like “long live the king, bitch” and walks away into the shadows, leaving maggie to a potential death

which, while i know isn’t actually going to happen, would be a really fucking funny move on the writers’ part

like, “look, lauren’s back! and now she’s dead, bet you didn’t expect that!”

anyway

my assumption is negan will actually end up helping her up or something, continuing his ambiguous morality bullshit that actually isn’t ambiguous bc he BEAT GLENN TO DEATH WITH A FUCKING BAT WRAPPED IN BARBED WIRE IN FRONT OF HIS PREGNANT WIFE

the maggie/negan arch is kind of dumb, but whatevs, i’ll tolerate it, as long as my boy glenn gets justice in the end

anyway, cue credits!

final assessment: good episode. i’m much more interested in commonwealth than the reapers, tho i am hoping that daryl’s personality-less ex turns out to be a monster killing machine with no conscience, that’ll be fun. princess is a gift from god. hershel jr needs his own tv show. needs more carol (and caryl)

So…

I finally got around to watching the 2022 slasher movie, X. Written, directed, and produced by Ti West, it starred Mia Goth as Maxine Minx, Brittany Snow as Bobby-Lynne, Kid Cudi as Jackson Hole, Martin Henderson and Wayne Gilroy, and the up and coming star Jenna Ortega as Lorraine. The buzz around this movie was so enticing that I ordered the DVD and waited patiently all those 10 business days for it to come. I had surprisingly avoided all talk about the show, so it was a surprise when I saw Jenna Ortega in a movie where she wasn’t playing a teenager. She’s one of those stars where you know they’ll become a big name in the future, so I’m excited to see her in more movies like this. However....as far as this movie goes....I was expecting so much more.

     It had it all! Cornfields on each side, roads stretched for miles with no help in sight, and a van filled with young adults awaiting to be slaughtered. It’s one of my favorite genres in horror movies and why I always rewatch movies like Wrong Turn, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Halloween. But unlike those iconic franchises, X fell short for me when it came to the slasher part. It was too fast, too, quick, and lacked suspense. Plus, who the hell finds old people threatening? Maybe in M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit it was scary, but they were going against kids. Pearl (also played by Mia Goth) and Howard with his rusty shotgun are no threat, which really took it out for me. And I was only proven right after watching the ending and how those old farts practically took themselves out. 

The Kills:

This was the biggest letdown of the movie because the way our characters went out was so lackluster. If you blinked, you would’ve missed it. In slasher films, I expect a lot of blood. Buckets of it. Considering this is a movie set in the late 70′s, they could’ve really played around with corn syrup and ridiculous kills, but no :/

The scenes weren’t as gruesome like the movies X took inspiration from Owen Campbell’s character RJ Nichols was the  one of the only interesting kills, Wayne getting his eyes forked out of his head a close second. But Bobby-Lynne getting pushed into a lake to getting eaten by a gator and only seeing it for a split second, Jackson getting shot with that damn gun, and Lorraine getting her head shot off...you barely got time to enjoy it or cringe before you were moving onto the next scene. What I loved about horror movies from the 80′s to 2000′s is how those scenes seem to go on forever. You can feel every muscle being torn from a stab, cringe when someone got their limbs churned off from a wood chipper, and have your heart racing when the final girl runs through a field,  have your heart literally sink when the get into that pick-up truck only to realize the keys are in the house - with the killer. There’s always a struggle fight, a reach for the gun, a knife, something. If there’s a stairway, someone’s getting thrown down it. At some point, you wonder if the protagonist will even make it out alive - that’s how close the fight seems. X gave me none of that. 

In the beginning of the movie, cops arrive at the scene of what will be the crime scene of what we know will happen before it actually happens. Sheriff Dentler (played by James Gaylyn) examines a body outside the property covered in bloody sheets, then enters the house. Another officer tells him he needs to come and see something in the basement. They go and witness something that leave him slack jawed. But we don’t see it, of course, because it’ll later be revealed as the movie starts. When we do realize what it is, that’s also lackluster. It’s just some guy chained up stripped naked. Throughout the entire movie, I’m wondering what that scene will be. When Howard tricks and locks Lorraine in the basement, I wonder if the horrific scene is of her in some horrific state. Maybe Pearl’s obsession with Maxine meant she would be put in the basement dressed up like some doll or something, I don’t know. Anything that wasn’t some random John Doe with his pants to his ankles. As a stand alone movie, this movie struggling to keep upright. Even if Pearl (2022) clears up more, I don’t think movies should rely on others in a series to be good.

This movie is apart of a sequel with Pearl, the prequel which will explain why Pearl is the way she is a lot better, comes out September 16th....but I do not care about Pearl to even wonder why she is the way she is because her and her husband’s weird ass life isn’t fleshed out or properly handled enough for me to care. I don’t care that she misses being young and beautiful and is taking it out on the unsuspecting guests in their guesthouse. I don’t care that Howard can’t get his willy up without risking a heart attack. Everyone is so rushed, every scene is so fast paced, every kill happens before you can even realize it....nothing marinates. Nothing is handled with time and patience. I’m sitting here mourning because this movie could’ve been so good. The ending where Maxine starts up Howard’s pick-up truck and dusts off down the road to safety doesn’t seem earned. Whenever I watched similar movies like this where the final girl maniacally drives to safety, it’s after seeing a whole rollercoaster of her and her friends trying to survive the night. I used to hate those movies as a kid because I used to really think there was no way they’re getting out of their horror - even when I rewatch it and know how it’ll end. I didn’t get that with X and I’m so disappointed. Such an original take on an old horror style.

Riddle shot out into the gardens, about to go "OF WITH YOUR HEAD" who deigned to put that kind of music. But ... like everyone else, he only found you....starting to dance.

People were crazy to see you dance with fluidity and speed ... a good crazyness. They were deconcentrated.

He was delighted with your movements to the point of bringing out a genuine smile, which disappeared when your top disappeared, leaving you alone in black and green lingerie.

His eyes widened. His hands began to sweat and he had a strange need to get close to you.

At the end of your dance, you had the scare of your life when you saw the tall and horned figure of Malleus on the doorway of the lounge room.

i switched it up a little this time, my points are in a live commentary format rather than thought out points post-viewing:

- “the one armed man and the priest” THAT LOOK FROM AARON THOUGHHH. mans is filled with so much rage. tbh i think he’s gonna die still, idrk how to explain it but the way they’re building up his character atm, accentuating on all the friends he has, giving him motives and rage, it’s leading to a death.

- look at daryl protecting his besties!! #squadgoals

- OHMYGOD THE SCENE IS COMING IT’S COMING

- omg princess and mercer’s relationship has my WHOLE heart. if mercer ruins this i’m gonna be throwing hands. i love the way princess talks to him hfjksfjjf. princess is honestly one of my favourites personality-wise, she reminds me of myself lmao. mercer is also RIPPED my god, like please crush me.

- overall great episode, LOVED the hilltop scenes, especially the maggie and daryl ones. glad to see connie and kelly back too :))

in conclusion, if leah does not die at daryl’s hands and lance at carol’s i will be extremely pissed and throwing hands at amc. kill them already!! 

(watching the preview though leah is DEFINITELY dying at maggie’s hands, i only watched 5 seconds of it but that’s enough for me. as long as she dies. can also see that building tension between maggie and daryl)

My thoughts on Episode 3--Hunted.

 Most of you lovelies already realize this, but my thoughts tend to zig and zag quite a bit, lol.  So.  To save some of you the headache and spare you from seeing spoilers you’d rather not see yet, I’m again placing them behind a cut.  

First things first.  I have totally turned into Yvette Nicole Brown with her TWD notebooks, lol, and I’m not even sorry.  I just felt like it would be fun to go back when the final episode is in the books and see how well my thoughts from these early episodes line up with what I’m feeling when we say our (not-so) final goodbyes.  

But that’s enough about that. Let’s get to this thing.  

It really is insane how very much I love Melissa McBride.  Just hearing her doing the previously on TWD recap voiceover makes me ridiculously happy.  

Cole!  Dude!  We hardly knew ya.  

Not gonna lie.  That first shot of Maggie in all the chaos reminded of a shirt I’ve seen.  It says--”Well, well, well.  If it isn’t the consequences of my actions.”  

I have to hand it to Angela and the rest of her team.  These opening scenes--on all 3 episodes--have been BOMB so far.  They really hook you in right away.  At least IMHO.  

I realize I’m behind the game on this little tidbit, but how much do I adore the fact that Dog is now in the opening credits?  

Okay.  Alexandria might look like it’s been on some kind of post-apocalyptic bender but all our girls are looking beautiful as ever.  Maybe it’s Maybelline, lol.  

I love to see Kelly and Carol still gravitating toward each other.  It really speaks to each woman’s heart.  Carol wants to make amends so badly and Kelly just has the most lovely, warm, forgiving heart.  

Carol’s point about Alexandria still needing the horses to help with the heavy lifting and pointing out the walls and rebuilding won’t matter quite as much if they’re limited by their  hunger and what they can physically lift on their own isn’t wrong.  But I’m sure the same viewers that were okay with Daryl and Co. going out on Maggie’s suicide mission (using the same reasoning) and saying it made sense for the bigger picture will pretend not to recognize that the same element is there in Carol’s desire to go out there and look for the horses.  You know.  Because it was Carol’s idea and not that of their fave(s).  

Aaron, Man.  Or maybe I should say Angela.   You just had to put a pit of dread in my belly mentioning Buttons like that.  RIP, Buttons.  You deserved better.  I’m still traumatized.  

Look at all the babies bonding.  Look at RJ getting to sit at the big kid table.  

“My mom always comes back.”  She damn well better.  Those babies need her.  Until she does, though, Uncle Daryl and Aunt Carol (and Aunt Rosita and everybody else) are going to be there.  

Anyway.  Poor RJ.  He barely ever gets any lines, lol.  

Hershel and Judith are obviously the mini-adults in this group and baby Rhee is already more cynical and jaded than his sweet daddy was until they reached Alexandria and the wheels started to come off.  

So.  Does Maggie just think everybody’s already dead here or what?  Hmm.  

You know.  Any building can be creepy AF when the lights are off and it’s dark, lol.  Any building.  

So much darkness so far this season.  I’m going to have to invest in some blackout curtains.  I just know it.  

Where are all those stairs leading?  Why am I thinking of Hitchcock?  Am I mixing up my scary, suspenseful movies?  Probably.  

Of fucking course, Maggie dropped her flashlight.  Thank goodness she had that lighter at the ready just before Ghost Face Reaper took a swipe at her.  

Is that Father G with a screwdriver impaled in his thigh?  Listen.  These people deserve a Mega Bottle of pain killers and a week just vegging out in a soft, luxurious bed.  

All these horror movie tropes.  Some of them are cheesy, yes.  But I’m totally here for it.  

LMAO.  That’s it, Maggie.  A good old punch in the nuts works every time.  

Alden really is having a terrible, horrible, no good very bad day.  

Negan is still Negan.  Self-serving and looking out for number one.  But I believe the man really does feel the group is his group too.  He’s like that long lost, sketchy uncle nobody wants to acknowledge much less invite to the dinner table, but that bond?  However thin?  Is there.  

I am both hating that Maggie is being forced to work with the man that murdered her husband (my baby Glenn) and finding it fascinating the lengths she’s willing to go to survive.  This your plan, Angela?  

Rosita and Carol!  How sad is it that the last really significant scene I can remember the two of these women sharing was way back?  Before Rick and Co. attacked Negan’s outpost and Maggie and Carol were subsequently taken?  If only the show had done more of these kind of scenes.  

How much do I love all the girls working together?  Gimps would never.  They’d all be stuck back at Alexandria minding the kids and the community.  

Shallow aside--Rosita is so pretty in this scene.  

Rosita being worried about Carol honestly makes my heart hurt, because it’s about damn time more of them actually did.  Her saying Abraham is trying to tell her something in her dreams is interesting.  Angela sure loves her dreams, doesn’t she?  

Where are Daryl’s dreams, hmm?  No.  Seriously.  I guess they want to give some viewers plausible deniability until the bitter end.  

“Really?  We’re just gonna go toward the screaming?  Cool.”  Hahaha.  You know.  Even the smart people in horror movies sometimes bite it, Negan.  Just saying.  Maggie really does need to “stop running up the staircase” when she could just run out the front door though, lol.  

Poor Duncan.  I think you could have been another Tyreese, Jerry type for me.  

WTF does this show have against horses?  Those poor creatures.  

Kelly is totally me right now.  I’d be freaking inconsolable.  

Carol needed that hug.  Thank you, Magna.  From the bottom of this tired fangirl’s heart, thank you.  

Why give us that beautiful, golden shot with the horses when you’re planning to stab us through the heart later and twist the knife.  Oh.  Yeah.  That’s exactly why.  

Oh snap!  Father G’s delivery when he tells that Reaper “I’m not.  God isn’t here anymore.”  Cold as ice.  

Judas.  That the Reapers’ work.  Or.  Damn.  Either way, that’s harsh.  

Back to what Alden was saying.  All these oprhaned children.  Who’s going to take on Adam if he dies?  That poor kid has had a rough go of it.  Knowing that, makes you wonder what Alden was thinking volunteering for the suicide mission.  

Omigosh.  There went Agatha.  Terrible way to go.  Right, Beatrice?  

I’m sobbing.  Carol with the horse.  That hurt my baby so much but she hurt herself for her family the same way she has been doing since the Prison.  Melissa Mcbride?  When she cries, I cry.  Every effin’ time.  Aaron being there just made it hurt more.  But at least someone was there to see how and really take in how she continues to break pieces of herself off to keep her family as whole and safe and happy as she can.  

Rewinding a minute--that Magna and Carol conversation.  I get Magna’s reasoning too.  I do.  But Angela is just making everything so dire right now so that the sun when Connie is ultimate found shines a ltitle brighter.  

Those babies know they’re eating horse.  I could never.  

That’s got to be a different Coco.  She’s even smaller.  But she’s gorgeous.  

Fucking finally.  Angela having the other characters notice after an eternity of being blind to it, just how much Carol sacrifices of herself for them.  It’s so long overdue and I imagine Rosita’s even more worried for Carol now.  It’s a shame it’s taken 11 seasons.  My baby’s had blood on her hands trying to keep her family safe and whole and happy and fed for a long damn time.  So heartbreaking watching her try to scrub the blood away.  

Sweet, sweet hug that Kelly gave Magna.  She’s such a sweetheart kid sis to all of them, isn’t she?  

Interesting place of refuge.  A gutted church.  A visual symbol, Angela, of where Maggie and the rest of our people are now perhaps?  

“It’s easy for you, isn’t it?  Being reckless with sombody’s life...”  Maggie.  Maggie.  Those words would have hit so much harder if we hadn’t spent the majority of the last 2.5 episodes watching you ignore sound advice just because it came out of the mouth of somebody you (justifiably) hate.  

But will Alden be there when Maggie and Negan get back?  That is the question.  Or will he eventually Lucille himself?  

That little bit of lineup Negan music to remind the audience of Negan lovers and sympathizers that he once took great pleasure in murderously swinging a bag at people’s heads was a nice, subtle touch there.  Like agree with her or not, Maggie  is literally left to rely  on the hope, however small it is, that Negan has changed just enough that he won’t try to finish a job he taken on years before--killing what’s left of her.  

Oh lawd.  Next episode sees the return of a character literally nobody asked for.  How excited am I not?  

Dog better not be harmed or so help me.  

Now for Angela’s weekly explanations of WTF she/there were thinking because they been doing this plausible deniability thing so long some people out there watching with biased, muddy stan glasses can no longer separate head canon from canon.  

Is Maggie worried at all about Daryl or does she just assume his superhero powers are in full effect in this episode?  

“You can’t really say it wasn’t going to happen anyway.”  Not Angela pointing out that simply laying the blame for literally everything bad that ever happens at Carol’s feet isn’t the answer.  Say it louder for those in the back.  Alpha was going to do what Alpha wanted to do.  

“There is love there.  There is respect there.  However, there’s also frustration...”  You damn skippy.  Friendships and human relationships are complex AF.  Like Carol. She’s honestly one of the most complicated characters on this show and any show, IMHO.  That’s what makes her so memorable and such a lightning rod for discussion.  

I know I might be in a minority, but I really feel like they need more of those little scenes between the kids to keep things real.  

Kang saying she always feels like she’s going to get murdered in a staircase or parking lot is relatable, funny, and sad all at the same time.  It’s a girl thing.  

Why is Carol’s story giving me Dark Knight vibes?  Like I feel like she’ll gladly shoulder the burden of their distrust, their hate, or their judgment as long as the hard choices she makes keeps them safe.  And she’s still ultimately going to come back to save their asses even when they forsake her.  Just like Bruce Wayne/Batman.  Am I reaching too far, lol?  Because sometimes I do that.  

Anyway.  This is the third episode of the season and the third episode in a row that I mostly enjoyed.  I don’t know if I’m just so relieved and happy to have all the characters and my show back or what, but overall?  I’ve been pleased with the episodes and found something to love in all of them.  

There’s a much stronger horror vibe woven throughout Season 11 so far.  I feel like it’s a return to the roots of the show and I like that.  Literally none of the characters are making perfect choices and this viewer is here for it.  My only complaint so far is there hasn’t been enough Carol but what we’ve been given has felt like a gift and significant in a way that Gimps’ version was not.  Also?  I really hope the trend of the ladies working together and supporting each other continues because they rule the TWD world, lol.  

Hope you enjoyed at least some of my TWD word vomit.
