SoCal Gas spent millions on astroturf ops to fight climate rules
Tumblr media
Today (19 Aug), I'm appearing at the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books. I'm on a 2:30PM panel called "Return From Retirement," followed by a signing:

Tumblr media
It's a breathtaking fraud: SoCal Gas, the largest gas company in America, spent millions secretly paying people to oppose California environmental regulations, then illegally stuck its customers with the bill. We Californians were forced to pay to lobby against our own survival:
https://www.sacbee.com/news/politics-government/capitol-alert/article277266828.html
The criminal scheme is spelled out in eye-watering detail in a superb investigative report by Joe Rubin and Ari Plachta for the Sacramento Bee, which names the law firms and individual lawyers involved in the scam.
Here's the situation: SoCal Gas is California's private, regulated gas monopoly. They are allowed to lobby, but are legally required to charge their lobbying activities to their shareholders, and are prohibited from raising customer rates to pay for lobbying.
The company spent years secretly violating this rule, in the sleaziest way possible: working with corporate cartels like the California Restaurant Association and BizFed, the monopoly paid BigLaw white-shoe firms to procure people who posed as concerned citizens in order to oppose climate regulations that are essential to the state's very survival.
The bill topped $36 million – and it was illegally charged to its customers, the Californians whose immediate health and long-term survival these efforts opposed. SoCal Gas refuses to disclose the full extent of the spending, as do its lawyer-procurers, who cite legal confidentiality and a First Amendment right to secretly seek to influence policy in their refusal to disclose their profits from this illegal conduct.
The law firms involved are a who's-who of California's most prominent corporate fixers, including Reichman Jorgensen and Holland & Knight. The partners involved have a long rap sheet for anti-climate dirty tricking, most notably Jennifer Hernandez, notorious in climate justice history for an incident where activists claim she posed as one of them, infiltrating a campaign to force corporate despoilers to clean up their pollution in order to sabotage it, while secretly on a wealthy, prominent landowner's payroll.
Hernandez claims to care about the environment and says that her longstanding, corporate-funded, extensive campaigns and lawsuits against state environmental regulations are motivated by concern over their impact on working people. Her firm, Holland & Knight, denies serving SoCal Gas in opposing gas regulations, but it received $594k in ratepayer dollars, and submitted comments opposing the rules on its own behalf. Those comments were nearly identical to the comments submitted by SoCal Gas.
Hernandez also represents an obscure organization called The Two Hundred for Home Ownership in "a flurry of lawsuits" over California Air Resources Board rules on pollution, seeking to overturn the state's landmark climate change regulations.
Two Hundred for Home Ownership was founded by Robert Apodaca, who told the Bee that Hernandez's work for him is pro bono and not funded by SoCal Gas, but his entry into the fray occurred just as SoCalGas was founding an astroturf group called Californians for Fair and Balanced Energy (C4BES), which pretended to be an independent organization, disguising its relationship with SoCal Gas.
Apodaca is also founder of United Latinos Vote, an organization that had been largely dormant for seven years, not receiving any donations, until 2018, when the California Building Industry Association gave it $99k. The CBIA is a large-dollar recipient of donations from SoCal Gas, and its CEO insists that it was not acting on SoCal Gas's behalf when it made its unpredented donation to Apodaca.
The CBIA donation to United Latinos Vote was forerunner to a flood of corporate donations from the likes of Chevron, Marathon and Phillips 66. Shortly after receiving this cash, United Latinos Vote ran a full page ad in the LA Times, accusing the Sierra Club of pushing for anti-gas appliance rules that would harm working class Latino families.
This ad, in turn, featured prominently in advocacy by the SoCal Gas front group C4BES, funded with $29.1m in ratepayer money, which it then spent seeking to link clean appliance rules with anti-Latino racism. A quarter of California's carbon emissions come from home gas use.
SoCal Gas is regulated by the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC), which tolerated this mounting illegal conduct for many years, even as the company circulated internal memos as early as 2015 discussing its plans to oppose electrification in the state on the basis that it constituted "a significant risk to our business."
But last year, CPUC fined SoCal Gas $10m. Now, CPUC's Public Advocate office has filed a damning, extensive report on SoCal Gas's unlawful conduct, seeking $80m in rate cuts to compensate Californians for the funds misappropriated to protect the company's shareholder interests:
https://docs.cpuc.ca.gov/PublishedDocs/Efile/G000/M517/K407/517407314.PDF
Additionally, the Public Advocate is demanding $233m in fines for the company's refusal to allow investigators to audit its books and discover the full extent of the fraud.
SoCal Gas is the nation's largest utility, but (incredibly), it's not the dirtiest. That prize goes to Ohio's FirstEnergy, which handed $60m in ratepayer dollars to state politicians in illegal bribes in exchange for coal and nuclear subsidies and cancellation of state climate rules. That scandal led to GOP speaker of the Ohio House Larry Householder being sentenced to 20 years in prison:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohio_nuclear_bribery_scandal
There is something extraordinarily sleazy about using ratepayers' own money to lobby against their interests. SoCal Gas and its Big Law enablers have funneled millions in Californian's money into campaigns to poison us and boil us alive, and they did it while using workers and racialized people as human shields.

I'm kickstarting the audiobook for "The Internet Con: How To Seize the Means of Computation," a Big Tech disassembly manual to disenshittify the web and make a new, good internet to succeed the old, good internet. It's a DRM-free book, which means Audible won't carry it, so this crowdfunder is essential. Back now to get the audio, Verso hardcover and ebook:

hello i am giving u an excuse to talk about the chucky TV series because i generally don't like horror but i watched it and it was great
My friend... this goes so much deeper than the TV series.
DATELINE 1988! The horror movie slasher genre is THRIVING in the boom of video and cheap rental stores. Jason. Freddy. Michael. Already household names, nay! Heroes! Enter one Don Mancini, young and queer and ready to share some fear with a little idea knocking around in his head about a killer doll. With little more than a dream and few friends he tackled the enormous task of crafting the next horror legend. On the advice of a lawyer friend, he loaded Chucky up with distinct, trademarked features and made sure copyright on the titular killer doll was his and HIS ALONE.
Child's Play, the original Chucky movie, debuted to instant classic status. To modern eyes it may seem strange that a concept as silly as a killer doll could ascend to the heights of the holy triumvirate, but SIMULTANEOUS to Chucky we found such properties as Cabbage Patch Kids and My Buddy dolls - a virtual BUFFET of saccharine toys just begging for a counterpart with edge, and Chucky edged hard. The My Buddy doll never recovered as millions of children globally cowered from the mere TRAILER of Chucky and his slimeball snarl voice broadcast it's way to hearts and minds. But this wasn't all, no, for you see Chucky had a most peculiar gift, the gift of a soulful heart.
While many other slasher movies focused on a test of wills between survivor girl and unstoppable monster, Child's Play was first and foremost the coming of age story for Andy Barclay and his, Karen. In particular credit must be given to actor Catherine Hicks who never wanted to be in a horror movie, and made the conscious decision to play Karen as a straight dramatic role about a single mother and her son. In a sea of peculiarly good choices, it perhaps was hers more than any other that granted Child's Play a quasi-Spielberg-esque movie magic to transcend the genre stereotypes and absurd premise, to create something unique.
While she would not return for Child's Play 2, the die was cast with Alex Vincent as Andy and Brad Dourif as Chucky. We saw the introduction of street smart older stepsister played by Christine Elise. With a bigger budget, nastier deaths, and a truly grotesque version of Chucky, Child's Play 2 is likely considered the best in the series, as it predates the series' later campiness and had the delightfully rubbery 80s practical effects. Not me though, I love them all except of course Child's Play 3, the military academy one, which rounds out the first arc of Chucky. For a little while.
In 1998, just in time for a ten year anniversary, Chucky would RISE AGAIN, in Bride of Chucky. You see, while Don Mancini no longer had the rights to the Child's Play name, he still owned Chucky. Would this new chapter in the knife wielding minimaniac mean the previous continuity was dispensed with? NO, for this series was and still is violent killer baby of ONE MAN and his found film family. Instead, Bride of Chucky would introduce a new member of the family, Tiffany Valentine, played by the inimitable Jennifer Tilly. In this chapter of Chucky's tale, he and Tiffany took center stage, with no consistent protagonist, and a greater focus on absurd humor. Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky are both movies which give the sense of perhaps Mancini himself being more comfortable with his sexuality, more open and free. It was also the turning point where Chucky would go from a by the numbers slasher to a metatexual interrogation of the horror genre itself.
Besides playing with self referential comedy and genre references, Don Mancini introduced an in-universe awareness of Chucky's prior crimes, both as a human and as a doll, including the set of an in-universe movie (Chucky Goes Psycho) starring actress Jennifer Tilly. Hang onto your butts, because we're going in hot. If Bride of Chucky felt like it was going to weird places by having two dolls fucking and working on their romantic matters, Seed of Chucky abandoned all pretense, enjoying the presence of stuntcasting like John Waters and Redman (as himself) in roles specifically for gruesome deaths. But Jennifer Tilly was the central meta tornado.
Try and follow this. Real actress Jennifer Tilly plays Tiffany Valentine, who gets her soul transferred into a doll which is also voiced by Jennifer Tilly. Subsequently Jennifer Tilly also plays fictional actress Jennifer Tilly (who is otherwise identical to real world Jennifer Tilly), cast to play Tiffany Valentine in fictional fictionalized account of the fictional world real events of Child's Play 1 & 2, and also to voice the fictional Tiffany Valentine doll along with fictional Brad Dourif voicing the fictional Chucky doll, both dolls created for the fictional movie Chucky gets lucky. However, the fictional dolls get possessed by the real fictional characters Chucky and Tiffany, still voiced by real actors Brad Dourif and Jennifer Tilly. Eventually, Tiffany is able to transfer her soul into fictional Jennifer Tilly.
So, hang with me, in Chucky this means that fictional actress Jennifer Tilly (played by real Jennifer Tilly) is now possessed by fictional real murderer Tiffany Valentine (played by real Jennifer Tilly) who has to pretend to be fictional actress Jennifer Tilly (as played by Jennifer Tilly).
Beyond all this fuckery, Chucky and Tiff must cope with their new child who vacillates between Glen or Glenda, a kind of bigender or genderfluid character at a time when those ideas weren't very widespread, but which feels deeply informed both my Mancini's experience as a gay man, and also the long history of queers in Hollywood. At the conclusion of these two movies, it seemed like we were done with Chucky, with Tiffany living happily ever after as Tillyception and Glen/Glenda now living as two children, having their soul split into the twins fictional Tilly was pregnant with.
However, it seems that these five movies total instead were a kind of foundation for the next generation, when Chucky returned in Curse of Chucky and Cult of Chucky. Together these movies added a new layer of recursion, and might be called the Nica Pierce chapter. Both films featured less camp, and a more serious tone which, initially seemed to imply an intent to reboot the series. This was, of course, a fake out as Mancini not only revealed the new movies as a direct continuation, but also gave Chucky an illegitimate human daughter in the form of Nica Pierce, played by Fiona Dourif, the real world daughter of Brad Dourif. Not only that, but we would get the reintroduction of a long absent character, Andy Barclay, still played by Alex Vincent.
In the reprisal, Alex Vincent, an actor who was damaged and traumatized by being a child actor in movies like the original Child's Play, plays Andy as an adult damaged and traumatized by his experiences as a child in the original Child's Play.
Now, eventually Chucky gets control of Nica and Fiona Dourif does drag to play young Chucky and there's fucked up lesbians and gay kissing and a priest explodes, but all that happens in the TV series. What I'm really needing everyone to get at here is that from 1988 up to RIGHT NOW Don Mancini has kept continuity of plot AND ACTORS, with two seasons and an upcoming third which incorporates every single movie detail. A series which, while silly at times, always both respects its audience second, but FIRST is itself above all. Every single movie and episode has been something which set out to be its own thing, free from control or demands of conformity and it always has been, like it or not, love it or leave it. Somehow the killer doll movie has turned into a 35 year long and counting love affair, a found extended nuclear family both on screen and off.
And perhaps the best part is how much the queerness has been given a chance to flourish, going from a whisper of an influence in early films, to campy comedy later, to fully realized queer relationships in the series. Not only that, but it's always seemed to treat its atypical protagonists with a humanity and respect few other media properties manage. The young Andy works so well because he's an actual character, not just some kid, treated like a capable and thinking human. Tiff and Glen/Glenda are bizarre but never dehumanized, never treated as undeserving of human kindness. And Nica, a paraplegic, is amazing, with her disabilities informing the plot, but not innately treated as some definitive limit or inspiration porn. It's rare for so many disenfranchised characters to get such a human treatment, and frankly bizarre that the murder doll series is the one to do it. But that's kind of the real beauty of Chucky. Every character is human first, before anything else.
In fact, there is only one character who is genuinely human second, and it's Chucky himself. Now I'm not saying there's no room for complex antagonists, but in all Chucy movies, the one constant is this: Chucky is a total dick. Not evil, not a menace, just a pure all out asshole. Chucky is a piece of shit person first, murderer second, and that's GREAT. You will never be in a position where you hope the evil murder doll succeeds (Tiff excepted). You will never stop and wonder "Gosh maybe Chucky is secretly a good guy deep down." Chucky is always a gaslighting selfish prick who wants to live for ever and kill everyone, full stop. It's beautiful, it frees the mind to dwell on the humanity of other characters because you never once are getting asked to give the lying cheating manipulative little fucker the benefit of the doubt.
I don't know what it is, but Mancini just gets it. He gets the best and the worst of people and that's what makes this whole machine tick. It's huge and overwhelming to think of how many people and plotlines and stories are encompassed by Chucky and then like a falling air-conditioner it just slams into my head: "Oh yeah, this is about a killer doll."

About a decade ago, Zack Snyder developed a storyline for the DC Extended Universe that involved Bruce Wayne impregnating Lois Lane.
The subplot in which Batman cuckolds Superman was poised to unfold in “Justice League,” with Batman dying in the sequel and Lois raising their spawn with Superman. Snyder’s vision for Wonder Woman was equally unorthodox, with visuals featuring a superheroine who brandished the decapitated heads of her conquered enemies like an ISIS jihadi.
Warner Bros. and DC Studios — which hold a firm grip on their intellectual property — rejected Snyder’s ideas, which were deemed “super creepy,” according to a source familiar with the back and forth. (DC declined to comment for this story. A representative for Snyder did not respond to a request for comment.) But in the next decade, artists and rival studios won’t need permission to create their own take on the characters.
A sad fact of Hollywood is that while superheroes never truly die, all copyrights do. On Jan. 1, Disney lost control of “Steamboat Willie,” and within 24 hours two horror-comedies starring Mickey Mouse were announced. The DC characters are the next major expirations looming on the horizon. Superman and Lois Lane will enter the public domain in 2034, followed by Batman in 2035, the Joker in 2036 and Wonder Woman in 2037.
Chris Sims, a comic book author and Batman expert, expects a flood of unauthorized Batman comics to hit the stands as soon as the copyright expires.
“There’s going to be 100 of them,” he says. “They’re going to have them ready to go.” Movie producers will also be able to make their own versions — much as they already do with public domain characters like Dracula and Robin Hood — though in the beginning they will have to stick to the original versions of the characters.
“You get Batman, but you don’t get Robin,” Sims says. “You get Superman, but you don’t get kryptonite.”
The initial Superman could only leap — not fly. “Those characteristics are going to fall into the public domain one by one,” says Amanda Schreyer, media and entertainment lawyer at Morse.
DC has been preparing for this for years. At a press event in 2023, CEO James Gunn noted that the next Superman film will introduce characters from “The Authority,” a comic series that launched in 1999, in part because the Superman copyright is about to expire.
Jay Kogan, DC’s deputy general counsel, laid out a strategy to protect characters that fall into the public domain in a 2001 article. Since only the older versions lose protection, he urged: “Keep ’em fresh and up-to-date.”
By gradually changing the literary and visual characteristics of a character over time, a character owner can keep whatever the then-current image of the character is as the de facto standard in the public consciousness,” he wrote.
The company has done a good job of updating Superman, argues Steven Beer, an IP lawyer at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith.
“The public’s perception is the contemporary Superman. It’s distinctive,” he says. “That gives them a lot of protection.”
Another tactic: Maintain a high level of quality control.
“The public should be conditioned to view any works from unrelated parties featuring a trademark owner’s characters as second-rate knockoffs,” Kogan wrote.
Kogan also suggested that trademarks could be used to block the use of a character’s name, image and slogan even after the copyright expires.
But trademark is not a cloak of immunity, argues Jennifer Jenkins, director of Duke’s Center for the Study of the Public Domain. “That only prevents uses that are likely to cause consumer confusion about source or sponsorship,” she says.
In other words, the characters’ names should be fair game, so long as it’s clear that the depiction is not coming from DC.
“You could still create a Superman horror movie or Batman horror movie,” says Jonathan Steinsapir, an IP attorney at KHIKS. “You just need to be careful about how you advertise it and how you use images of Superman in a branding sense.”
DC has done a careful job of tying the characters to itself by trademarking the terms “Man of Steel” and “Caped Crusader,” as well as Superman’s “S” and Batman’s logo.
“The bat symbol is a very strong mark,” Schreyer says. “That is going to limit what subsequent creators can do.”
Even so, expect the mid-2030s to see a glut of off-brand superhero content.
“People will make a run at these characters because there’s money to be made,” says Mark Waid, a comic book author and historian best known for his work on DC Comics titles like “Superman: Birthright.” “Or how about Superman versus Godzilla. It’s a gray area. But this town works on the speed of capitalism, right? That’s how we work.”
Sims believes more superhero comics will be a good thing. But the idea that there will be a Superman renaissance is oversold, he says.
“It’s gonna come down to execution,” Sims says. “There’s one company that’s used to doing it.”
Steinsapir says nothing would keep Snyder from making a non-Warners film featuring the DC troika.
“Zack Snyder could reshoot it and make his own new iteration of it,” he says. “You just need to be careful. For example, he definitely couldn’t call it ‘Justice League.’”

Kirishima's Mystique:Jade Gammazon Woman in the Mood
Tumblr media
Folks of Mustafu city streets were turning their heads and dropping their jaws, man and woman alike at the sight that walked among them and really why wouldn’t or shouldn’t they? Even in this day and age of Quirks where you'd likely have a distinct, unique appearance ranging from alien to full on furry, this woman was an absolute unit in how she stood out. 6 foot 7 of bombshell curves and powerful, sensually exquisite muscles with skin a rich emerald/jade green, this was none other than famed pro hero and attorney at law, Jennifer Walters, codenamed She-Hulk, cousin to one Bruce Banner, famed scientist in the field of Gamma Radiation and the equally famous Incredible Hulk. Currently in Japan on a trip for business related matters and well...pretty damn bored out of her mind.
Jennifer Walters, Hero Name: She-Hulk!! Quirk: Gamm-azon!! Like her walking rage factory cousin, Jen posses a super strength trasformation based quirk that'd been artificially kickstarted into activation by a transfusion of his blood. Making her capable of turning into a 7 foot plus statuesque stunner capable of bench pressing tanks and leaping tall buildings in a single bound especially when fuelled by adrenaline and or rage!
Now it wasn't to do with her lawyer work of course, never a dull moment with that, nor was it related to the heroics field. No Jen you see hadn't quite found anything during her stay that could get her adrenaline pumping and that, for this Gamma-zon, was a problem. Given the nature of her quirk, she often needed to relax by venting excess energy, often through intense physical activity such as combat, training....or sex. And thus far she hadn't seen action on any of those fronts that could really get her going.
That is until she paused as she beheld the immense and impressive architecture of Silverman's Pinnacle of Physique, a highly rated and recommended gym especially for those with physical type quirks. Jen couldn't help but smile, a twinkle in her jade eyes as she thought maybe the day might not be a total loss after all. A quick run to and back from her hotel and she was gracing the PoP with her presence, dressed and ready to pump some iron while dropping jaws. Wasting no time as she decided to start off with the weight training section, picking up the heaviest set of dumbbells she could get her hands.
It was no small surprise she was making heads turn and jaws drop, and why wouldn't she? Men and women alike just had a natural reaction, nevermind that she was THE She-Hulk of all people, as she sat on a bench and picked up a pair of the heaviest dumbbells she spotted and started on her reps. Her glorious jade biceps pumping and swelling with every curl as she focused on working herself up a sweat. Her attention briefly diverted as she found she wasn't alone on the bench, seeing a redhead dude with shark teeth a few feet from her also pumping iron.
She had certainly found him easy on the eyes and his workout gear ensured she got a more than decent glimpse at his own muscular form which rather suited his face, a nice blend between handsomely macho and angelface pretty. Wondering why he seemed familiar but unable to place a face or name as well as unaware this was local pro Eijiro Kirishima, aka the Chivalrous Hero Red Riot, who had somehow managed to go through his daily routine at Silverman's thus far at least without running into someone among the oh so fine female patrons and staff that might've wanted a little "private workout". Thankful that he wasn't making a clown out of himself fanboying over the fact that THE She-Hulk herself was here at the gym, right next to him, after all being a red blooded hot blooded guy, it'd be easier to ask him when had he NOT crushed on and fantasized about her? Knowing his bubblegum girlfriend duo, they'd be relentless with the teasing but to say nothing of the ideas they'd be planting in his head.
So instead the hard-headed redhead set about on his bicep curls as he picked up where left off on counting his reps, Jen doing much the same as her pace had a little more speed, subconsciously looking to catch up to and match up with him. At first it was all just looking quiet enough between the green and red duo as they found themselves seemingly in sync, performing the same workout routine but if one were to look closer then they would find it was a different story under the surface as time went on. Nobody was sure when and how exactly it happened but Kirishima and Jen began to turn their workout into a competition, each trying to outdo the other whether it was having higher numbers in push-ups to pull ups or press lifting the heaviest weights their bodies were capable of committing. Even some combination as the Herculean shark teethed himbo and the jade green Gamma-zon were caught up the momentum by their own sense of pride and determination.
Onlookers, eavesdroppers and passers-by among staff and members alike were in awe at this battle for physical fitness supremacy as the red and green powerhouses seemed to show no signs of stopping. As the old saying goes, who dares wins and right now who dared to not step down and admit defeat was the aim and name of the game as their bodies were sweating, adrenaline rushing as they did any and every exercise they could with any and every machine or set available on hand. One would think it was akin to witnessing a scene from a nature documentary involving an alpha male and female battling to assert dominance and mark their territory with the chivalrous hero stepping up against this invasive bombshell nut then things got well, how shall we say? A little more primal than anyone had thought or expected of course.
Tumblr media
At one point, the brawny duo unintentionally seemed to reach an impasse, calling a temporary break as exhaustion from all their effort and exertion had finally caught up to them. Deciding to take a break and catch their breaths, replenish their energy with maybe a quick snack and some way to unwind as they briefly went their separate ways. Only for the She-Hulk to pause midstride n her way to the juice bar as she saw Kirishima was looking to use the steam room, her brain flicking the switch to a lightbulb for an idea. A wonderful, awful idea so awfully wonderful and awfully wonderful that it was could only have come from her libido as she subconsciously licked her lips sensually, thighs pressed and rubbing together as her muscles clenched and flex.
Call it spur of the moment brought about by the spirit of competition or just the fact that it'd been WAY TOO LONG since she lost got any but Jen had what she thought was just the trick to get herself the win over that, she had say, hunky sturdy piece of manmeat. Kirishima of course unaware of the pending trouble coming his way as he sat in the steam room, towel around his waist as his wild spikey man of red hair was in its relaxed natural state. Calm breaths escaping him as he sighed with contentment from the warmth and moisture soothing his aching joints and muscles and certainly thankful he hadn't popped a boner in his shorts which was a feat given who'd he been in physical proximity to. But hot damn what a woman, that was for sure, he had to wonder if there was something about ladies with exotic skin colours and thicc muscular bodies that just did something for him.
He wasn't lost in thought for long of course as he heard the door open and shut, signalling that he now had company with him but he felt suspicious as he heard the clicking of the lock being set. His vision waiting for the steam to clear only for his eyes to bug out comically and his jaw to drop as he found Jen now standing right in front of him, revealing herself as the perpetrator as she grinned a cheeky grin while holding the towel wrapped around her torso. The only layer of modesty keeping Kirishima from seeing a sight most men but especially Mineta would give an arm and leg but of course the towel's size ensured that he was still getting a fine view of the valley of her emerald green cleavage and a good chunk of her hips and thighs which could give Mirko a run for her money. And of course she fully well knew this as her green eyes snuck a glance at the towel around his waist showing signs of a rising tent about to be pitched.
Kirishima:*Trying in vain to keep his groin from getting a raging hard-on, no easy task when you had a six foot plus green skinned Amazon near naked in a steam room with you, mind.*"What the hell lady?! This isn't a co-ed room ya know!!"*Sure that was stating the obvious but can you blame him? Frankly it was pretty clear from the look on her face she damn well knew that, why else would she lock the door?! This woman clearly had ulterior motives and she was playing on them at this very moment!!*
Jen:*Cheeky bitch that she was, couldn't help but shoot a trolling sensual smile the hardheaded redhead's way as she casually flexed her arm. Taking delight in how his eyes were glued to her pumped, swelling bicep, he was definitely a man with taste, licking her lips at sensing the hard-on he struggled in vain to keep down.*"Hmm I'd say it's obvious handsome but sure I can spell it out for you. I'm here to settle our little competition and what better way than a little game of stamina chicken as I like to call it. You, me, right here and now are gonna fuck. Long, wild and hard as we can until one of us calls it quits and backs down first or exhaustion gets them. What do you say beefcake? you man enough?"*With that smart-ass quip of course, the jade green Giantess removed her towel, casting it aside along with her modesty as she fully exposed herself before Kirishima. Striking sultry combinations of pin-up and bodybuilder poses as she relished having his obvious erotic attention.*
Kirishima of course was naturally left stunned speechless at the sight of a nude She-hulk right before his very eyes, inches of emerald Amazonian muscle and skin from head to toe laid bare. It was pretty much tit for his self-control as it went bye-bye while his libido took the wheel, flipping a few switches that sent him into that primal state of mind Mina and Maya loved oh so very much. Simply standing up and letting his towel drop to the floor as it was now Jen's turn to be shocked and surprised, silently gasping as she felt her pussy begin to dribble down her thighs at the sight of his raging hard cock. Inches of pulsing length and girth primed and ready to go as the two powerhouses simply stared at one another's naked forms.....and then commenced with making THE FUCK!!!
Tumblr media
What followed was a marathon of primal, passionate, animalistic and passionate mating, curious and confused staff and patrons alike puzzled and confused at the heavy thuds and other assorted noises coming from the locked steam room. Unaware that inside was none other than the Red riot and She-hulk going at it with enough lust and abandon to put porn stars to shame as their naked muscular forms glistened with sweat. The steam room's walls and ceilings filled with the echoes of their lewd skin slapping, ass clapping, pelvis pumping primal rhythm along with their moans and grunts of passion as they engaged in their latest position. Jen howling with delight as she found herself hoisted up in a full nelson position, Kirishima's guns hooked around her powerful legs as her own hands grasped his shoulders.
How she fucking loved it, who knew Japan had been housing a pornographic champion like this within their country as days to weeks of pent up desire were being satisfied, her green tits bouncing and her emerald booty jiggling with every thunderous impact of their loins. Her washboard abs swollen from the depth and fullness of his shaft as it hammered away at her womb, his balls slapping her clit as her pussy juices rained down to join their sweat puddle on the floor. Just when she thought this guy was ready to call it quits, he was still at it, not to mention he hadn't gone soft yet or pulled out once. The number of times he had cum so far counted on one hand with fingers left over while hers were too many to count and of course he hadn't pulled out once so far.
Hell they were still going at the same pace and intensity they had started off with, having commenced with a sloppy 69 before Jen found herself laying on the bench upside down, head hanging off the edge as she had gotten a full force facefucking. To say nothing of how delicious his man juice was, nevermind the thrilling sensation when he fucked her doggy style and in a mating press like some goddamn caveman. Of course his hands showed their appreciation for when she rode him cowgirl style as they gave one another as good as they got, their competition forgotten in the heat of sexual passion. Showing no signs of stopping as seconds continued to pass into minutes which would become hours.
Now as to how and why any of the staff had yet to intervene and stop this lewd misuse of their gym property, you could thank Silverman gym's horny nympho owner Mo Hani of course. The kinky Japanese-Brazilian stunned observing this spontaneous rut along with Mina and Maya who had come along not too long ago looking for their precious himbo. Delighted to find he had found and made a new sex friend as they enjoyed the show, making plans to meet Jen personally and ensure this wouldn't be a one time sort of thing. Hani meanwhile was wondering when to make a move herself, already getting wet from a potential future Sexercise session with the sturdy chivalrous stud.
For both Jen and Kirishima of course, they continued going at it for as long as possible. Unaware their heat of the moment would see to a very wild, lewd future for the both of them. And oh how sweet it is, you might even say? It's Plus Ultra....

Leo or fifth house films or TV shows🌟💋👩🏽‍🎤💃🏼👑🦁♌️
Here are some Leo films on TV shows starting with the Wizard of Oz. We have Dorothy Garrett who lives on a farm with her grandparents and family and friends. She has her best friend Toto which is her dog. Then she goes on a journey of self discovery along the yellow brick Road where she meets like unlikely friends, the scarecrow who’s going to see the Wizard of Oz for a brain. The tin man who’s going to see him for a heart And the lion who’s going to see him for some courage when they get there they have on the journey they go through many trials and tribulations which stop them almost getting to their destination but as they get there they realise they had these things all along, and that they were brave, something that they needs to realise, without being arrogant in any sort of way, but ones who are lacking the confidence is which many Leo do is a perfect film for self discovery. It’s very sad truth behind this film also in real life and the life of Judy Garland.
As Leo relates to celebrity culture and being a celebrity and being part of royalty, we love a good bio pic here I have put Ray in the life of Ray Charles gave through his early music career and his affairs with numerous women, and the fact that he was a blind junkie it is an amazing film and Jamie Foxx does Ray Charles justice and he sounds just like him in this film it’s every day dream of like popstar of a celebrity and the ups and downs of being a celebrity. Also I’m being a drug addict in those times where he was blind, and literally injecting himself with heroin. next we have American beauty. The narrator played by the man I will not name is going for a midlife crisis as he rates the film he says in a year from now I’ll be dead. It is about a man go through a midlife car in a suburban town where he meets the new neighbours and start making dope and building his body up. He falls in love with his daughters best friend who is the same age as his daughter, his wife becomes bored with his Waze and upset with her own dissatisfaction in life and has an affair herself, but it’s all about keeping up appearances keeping up the Joneses, which I feel is very Leo like when all of them are actually miserable and they also have their daughter Jane who can’t stand her dad isn’t embarrassed by him and the fact that he fancies her friend she falls in love with an unlikely person. The next door neighbour who is very deep and sells drugs to her. Dad but they make this bond. Best friend makes her feel really ugly and pretends that she’s had sex with all these men until she reveals to Leicester that she’s actually a virgin when they’re about to have sex.
Next we have Dreamgirls, which is based on the Supremes. It has Beyoncé Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and more. It follows the life of a group who are very like the Supremes in the 1960s and how they raised the fame and how Effie character played by Jennifer Hudson is like the Florence ballad of the group and how Beyoncé who is like Diana Ross is the Diana Ross of the group, and they switch roles of Dina singing lead from Effie who is a better thing clearly they go through affairs in this film, drug addiction and overdoses going on the road. The life of music starts and back in the day Motown Detroit. It’s also an amazing musical and my favourite musical. Eddie Murphy plays a little Richard like character, and does it extremely well justice. Lost and not by any means least is American psycho played by , Christian Bale, who plays Patrick Bateman, a stockbroker on Wall Street in the 1980s, who lives a very private debaucher life, he works in a office with men of the same characteristics as him, but not so animalistic, but they’re all very disgusting in their own different ways. He becomes a mass murderer, but when questioned about it later in the film, when he tells his lawyer everything and then he goes to view his own flat. He is told that he hasn’t done anything into please leave. It is a great psychological thriller. It is very violent though if you’re not interested in that side of it there is a lot of narcissism in this film, which Leo we do have bucket loads of.

Chapter 12
Chapter 11:
I was at my desk working on a case I had just taken when there was a lady and a kid’s voice outside being a little too loud.
“I understand but you just-”
“Jennifer?” I say walking out my office only to come across a red face Tate and Jennifer trying to block his way.
“Y/N!”
“It's okay,” I told Jennifer as Tate came running towards me. I send a thank you to Jennifer before walking Tate into my office. “Are you okay?” I give him a bottle of water and sit beside him on the couch I had.
“I was with my mom shopping for winter clothes when she told me I would be going back to live with her and I don’t want to!” Tears started to leave his eyes agains. “I ran and I saw your name on the outside of the building”
“Tate it wasn’t right to run away like that, your mom is probably freaking out right now”
“She is not! She doesn’t love me, she wants to take me away from my dad and grandpa” He wraps his arms around my neck continuing to cry.
“Tate she loves you very much” I rub his back trying to make him calm down a bit. “Did you ask your mom why she decided to move back?” I feel him shake his head. “Tate?” I asked, wanting him to look at me but it didn’t seem that the six year old was going to budge. “You know what I do for work”
“No” I chuckle a bit finally hearing his voice calmer
“I am a type of lawyer. As a lawyer who fights for a client in any case but sometimes it comes to the point where you need to listen to both sides and figure out what the best solution is” I grab a hold of him and sit him in my lap. “Point is you need to listen and read every little things because without all the facts making a decision so fast is not right”
“So you argue your way to what they want at the end?” I laugh, wiping away his tears.
“You can say that. I do what's best with all the facts on the table that favors my client” He hears that and gets off my lap to stand right infront of me.
“I would like for you to fight for me to stay at the ranch with my dad” Oh buddy. “Or talk to my mom and have her say yes” I stand up and walk over to get my phone knowing Monica is probably way over freaking out and I don’t want her to do anything bad.
“Buddy let me call someone first and we can all talk about it okay?” Tate nods, taking a seat again. “Hello?” I say as her phone is answered
“Y/N?” That wasn’t Monica’s voice
“Kayce?” I ignore the fact that he had Monicas phone. She probably called him freaking out. The last time Tate went missing it wasn’t pretty. “I have something of yours in my office. He came walking in upset”
“Oh thank god” He lets out a sigh. I hear him tell who I am guessing was the other cowboys and Monica. “We will be right over” I hung up the phone and soon enough after a couple minutes there was more chaos outside my door. “He is in my office” I tell Monica and Kayce but block them from going in. “Before you go in and talk to him I want you to know what we spoke about”
“But is he okay?”
“Yes” I tell Monica. “He came in upset about the talk you might have had while shopping.” Monica nods understanding what that meant. “I calmed him down but while doing that he got an idea that I could help him get his way and that was certainly not my intention.”
“Maybe you can help us” I nod, opening the door for them to walk in.
“Dad” Tate runs towards him hugging him.
“Buddy you can’t be running off like that, your mom really got scared for you.” He was soft with his words, maybe being careful preventing memories from arising again.
“You don’t understand she wants to keep me away from you!” He cried looking over to Monica. “I want to stay with dad!”
“Can we sit down to talk about it?” Monica says pointing towards the two chairs infront of me. Tate nods allowing Kayce to carry him over. “Baby my intention is not to take you from your dad or your grandpa. I love that you have a home at the ranch but you also have a home with me.”
“But you are moving all my stuff out of my room. I don’t want to leave” Monica looks over to me as I could see tears filling her eyes.
“Tate” I say, making him look over to me. “Can we make an agreement?”
“You are going to be my lawyer?”
“Something like it, but you have to promise to listen and take in account everything” He nods. I take a piece of paper and start a list. I didn’t want to mention anything about the divorce and what it meant in custody because I didn’t know if they had talked with him yet. Yes he was aware they weren’t living together but up to this point Monica spent some nights at the ranch and they spent time as a family too. “Tate I know you want to live at the ranch full time but your mom would like to have you at home too since she loves your company”
“I can come and visit” He turns to her.
“Buddy, how about we split the week?” Kayce says “Half of the days you stay at the ranch and the other with your mom?”
“If we have time and when if is a good time I can bring you over to spend time at the ranch” Monica says grabbing hold of his hands
“What about my stuff?” Tate says looking over at Kayce
“You will have your clothes at the ranch and other at your moms same things go with your other belongings”
“What about my horse?”
“That would certainly stay at the ranch” Monica dry laughs and a smile appears on Tate’s face.
“Okay” He turns over to me with a smile.
“Alright. So have the days with mom and the other with dad. Clothes are to be separate and the horse must stay at the ranch” I wrote everything on the paper and made three lines. “If we have an agreement parents can sign here and Mr Tate you can sign here” I hand him a pen and they all sign. I placed it in a laminated folder and handed it over to Tate.
“How about school?”
“What about school Bud?” Kayce stopped as we all stood from our chairs.
“Can we agree on me only going half the day?”
“No,” Monica laughs, taking hold of his hand. “Let's go get you some jackets. '' They said their goodbyes and left the room.
“That kid,” Kayce laughs, shaking his head. I go over and place both hands on his chest.
“Are you okay?” I search for his eyes but he keeps looking away. “Kayce?”
“When she called it felt too real again” his voice broke and I took a second before wrapping my arms around him.
“I'm so sorry” I whispered as soft cries came from him. “Everything is okay” I tell him, caressing his back. “He is okay”
“I know” He pulls away but does not let go of my waist. “Am just hoping it doesn’t haunt him anymore”
“You and Monica and everybody who loves him will be by his side if anything happens” I try to reassure him.
“I know” I smile as a smile appears on his face.
“So who should I bill my time to?” I say hoping to get him in a happier mood.
“I thought it was on the house?” I feel his hands enterwine and pull me closer to him.
“On what grounds?” I move his hair from his face.
“On the fact that you live on our grounds and we pay you”
“Correction, it's John’s grounds and John pays me” I say, pressing my finger with each word on his chest. “But I guess I can do an exception for you since you’re kind of cute”
“Stop you’re making me blush” He pulls forward giving me a quick kiss. “Does your door lock?” he says looking over
“Yes” I whisper, pulling him into a quick kiss again.
“Really?” He grins, making me walk backwards towards said door.
“No” I shake my head with another kiss I pull away from him. “I got work to do and I bet so do you commissioner” I open the door.
“Yes ma’am” He grabs his hat which he layed down on my desk. “What time will you be done?” He walked backwards towards the door.
“Not sure, I can text you?” He nods, stealing another kiss.
“I will pick you up” before I could deny the offer because one I had my own car here and two because I probably would be getting off sooner than him anyway but I didn’t decline.

A teen girl with mental health issues who expressed a desire to transition was removed from her family who wanted to try treating the mental health issues before transitioning was romeved from her home by the state’s child protective services and is now in Canada?
By Anna Slatz. January 29, 2024
A family in Glasgow, Montana is accusing the state’s child protective services of “kidnapping” their teenage daughter after the girl began to identify as a transgender “boy.” Krista and Todd Kolstad spoke to Reduxx about their ordeal, revealing that the child had been removed from their care and was now going to be sent to Canada.
Krista, the child’s step-mother, explains that their nightmare began in August of 2023 after they received a call that their 14-year-old daughter, Jennifer*, had expressed suicidal ideations while at school.
“She had always had problems at school,” Krista says, noting that she and Todd had even pulled her from one district and sent her to another due to issues with bullying in an effort to give her a fresh start. But despite experiencing some real-world hardships, Krista claims Jennifer also had some undiagnosed mental health concerns, including attention-seeking behavior.
Later on that same evening, a case worker with Montana Child and Family Services (CFS) showed up to the Kolstad home to speak with Jennifer and do an inspection. Krista had been preparing dinner at the time, and invited the case worker to tour the residence despite both her and her husband being distressed by the sudden appearance.

During the interview with CFS, Jennifer claimed to have consumed toilet bowl cleaner and painkiller medications that day in an effort to commit suicide. Krista says that it had immediately struck her as being highly unlikely, as not only did Jennifer not have access to either substance unmonitored, but that Jennifer had expressed no symptoms of imminent illness that day.
Despite their doubts about the veracity of Jennifer’s claims, Krista and Todd agreed to take Jennifer to the local hospital on an emergency basis. While there, blood work returned that Jennifer had not consumed any toxic substances.
Krista and Todd provided Reduxx with copies of Jennifer’s medical paperwork to substantiate their claim that Jennifer had not consumed any dangerous substances the day she was admitted to hospital. The paperwork confirms that there were no abnormalities detected in Jennifer’s system, and that her overall physical health was good.
But notes taken at the hospital consistently mention that Jennifer identifies as a “male” and wishes to be called “Leo.”

Krista says she and Todd immediately made their objections known to Hospital staff, requesting Jennifer be called by her birth name.
“We were very clear to the emergency room staff as well as [CFS] that this goes against our values, morals, and our religious beliefs,” she said, but hospital staff refused to listen. “They told me to call their lawyer if I have an issue as they will do what the patient tells them.”
While the medical transitioning of minors was prohibited in the state of Montana at the time, Krista says the hospital told her that “social transitioning” was a “grey area” and continued to call Jennifer “Leo” and refer to her as a boy.
As a patient admitted for suicidal ideations, Jennifer was placed on 24/7 watch to keep her safe. But Krista says an aide was placed outside of her door who would regularly talk to Jennifer about “gender affirming” care.
“I came one day and she was talking about having top-surgery and being non-binary,” Krista says of the aide. She took her complaint to the on-duty Doctor, who dismissed her. “He told me, ‘why are not you more concerned that your daughter is trying to harm herself, then what [the aide] is talking about?'”
Another aide who had been set to watch over Jennifer similarly chastised Krista, telling her to “respect” Jennifer’s wishes to be called “Leo.”
Krista describes Jennifer’s time in the hospital as a period of constant efforts to undermine her and Todd’s parental authority. In addition to not respecting their wishes to refer to Jennifer by her birth name, hospital staff refused to abide by any other requests, such as limiting Jennifer’s TV and phone time, encouraging her to do her school work, and not allowing her to have copious amounts of junk food.
During this time, Krista and Todd had communication with Child and Family Services, and all agreed that Jennifer would benefit from specialized residential care for treatment and counseling. But during a conversation about where Jennifer could be placed, Krista says the possibility of her being moved to Wyoming was presented.

“They told us that there were 6 facilities in Montana, but that there was also a facility in Wyoming. And at that point, because we were already in such a state from the hospital disrespecting us and our wishes, we immediately looked up Wyoming’s laws on transitioning minors,” Krista says. “It looked to us like kids could go ahead and have procedures done and have hormones without parental consent.”
Concern began to set in, but Krista and Todd were assured that the most likely scenario was Jennifer being placed in a Montana-based facility, and on August 22, Krista and Todd were told that Jennifer was next in line for a bed in Billings, Montana.
But hours later that same day, Krista and Todd were called and informed Jennifer would be moved to Wyoming.
“They called and told us that a bed had opened up in Wyoming and that Jennifer needed to go. [The Doctor] said ‘she has to go. she’s not doing any good here,’ and we were really blown away,” Krista recounts. “No one talked to us about the the name of the facility — we had no one to answer our questions. We told them we wanted our questions answered before we accepted the bed.”
Ten minutes later, Child and Family Services arrived at the Kolstad residence with police.
“They showed up at our home to serve us with papers to take Jennifer out of our care,” Krista says. “They told me the reason was that we were ‘unable or refusing to provide medical care.’ That’s just not true.”
The next day, August 23, Jennifer was transported to Wyoming. Despite the fact that Krista and Todd were not allowed to see Jennifer during her move, CFS did allow Jennifer to stop and see friends and co-workers prior to leaving the city. Krista would later find out that Jennifer had told her friends that she was “crazy and trying to kill herself” and was being taken away from her parents.
“I feel this was a lapse in judgement by [CFS], a violation of HIPAA, and a miscarriage to Jennifer, as she is only 14. What if, when she is 17, this incident is behind her and she is in a good place mentally? This is a very small town and they have just let her brand herself as the ‘crazy kid’ who tried to kill themselves.”
While Jennifer was in Wyoming, neither Krista nor Todd were allowed to speak with her directly. Instead, they had to go through Jennifer’s counsellor, but Krista says they were very reluctant to give her information.
Krista later had to request Jennifer’s records from the center in order to get an understanding of what had happened to her while she was at the facility.
Tumblr media
A letter sent by Krista to CFS expressing dismay at the situation and offering Jennifer clothes and comfort items. SOURCE: Provided.
On September 25, Jennifer was returned to Montana and placed in a Youth Dynamics group home where she has remained ever since.
“They called it ‘temporary legal custody,’ which means they have the say over where she is at, but we are supposed to be able to have the say over everything else. But that was not upheld. There were incidents of her getting vaccines we did not consent to, we were not told the name of the Doctors involved, and she was allowed to shave her head,” Krista says.
Since Jennifer returned to Montana, Krista and Todd have had monthly court meetings along with Child and Family Services to determine next steps. The couple was assigned a public defender, who simply encouraged them to keep their head down until the process was complete.
“I am not trying to throw them under the bus… but all of their advice has been ‘play nice, just let her finish the group home program and then get her back in your care and move on with your lives.'”
But while the group home placement should have been just 6-9 months, the family’s situation took a dramatic turn for the worse during their hearing on January 19, 2024, when the court decided to hand custody of Jennifer over to Child and Family Services.
“We were told that letting Jennifer transition and live as a boy was in her ‘therapeutic best interest’ and because we aren’t willing to follow that recommendation, the court gave CFS custody of Jennifer for six months,” Krista says. “CFS is now going to place Jennifer in the care of her birth mother in Canada, who has never really been apart of her life. The judge said to us ‘you need to expect that reunification with your family may not be what you are expecting.'”
Tumblr media
Krista and Jennifer. SOURCE: Supplied.
Jennifer’s birth mother, Christine, currently lives in Kitchener, Ontario with her new husband. After Jennifer was born, Christine reportedly left the child with Todd, and has never been involved in her care since.
“She’s never called to see how [Jennifer] is. She’s never sent her anything. Nothing,” Krista says.
According to Krista, any communication from Christine at all has been sparse, and she has never made a meaningful effort to have a relationship with the children she left in Montana. Despite her apparent lack of interest, Krista has been sending Christine semi-regular updates on all of her children for the past seven years.
But disturbingly, Krista explains that she and Todd have grave concerns about Christine’s fitness as a parent.
“I have this letter from one of Jennifer’s previous counsellors that recommends that if Christine wants to come back into her children’s lives, she should do unification therapy, there should be trial visits… all of this stuff should happen because the children reported her as being abusive,” Krista says.
Krista and Todd provided Reduxx with a copy of a statement from a licensed professional counselor detailing sessions that Jennifer and her sister had attended. Both girls described Christine as being uncaring, abusive, and even “crazy.”
In one section of the statement, the counselor describes one of the girls as witnessing “incidents of violence directed at an older sibling,” which involved Christine “throwing that sibling against the refrigerator after becoming enraged at her” for wearing her mother’s jewelry without permission. The child goes on to detail “incidents when her biological mother would punch, hit, slap, and kick her and her siblings.”
Tumblr media
An excerpt from the counseling report reviewed by Reduxx. SOURCE: Provided.
Jennifer similarly alleged disturbing cases of abuse by her biological mother, including one time Christine reportedly grabbed and held her around her waist while repeatedly slapping her in the face.
Of the five children Christine and Todd had together, only one had lived in Canada with Christine prior to aging out of her care. While living with Christine, the boy exhibited severe behavioral problems to a point where Christine approached Krista and Todd for help.
In one conversation, Christine admits to regularly checking homeless encampments and police records in anticipation she would one day find her son in jail.
Child and Family Services was provided both the counselor’s statement and the text messages, but Krista said that nothing could be done to intervene in Jennifer’s placement.
“Our family has been destroyed by this. We have little to no contact with Jennifer and our rights as her parents have been trampled on,” Krista says. But despite the turmoil that has been brought into their lives, the couple says they will never stop trying to help their daughter come home.
Krista and Todd chose to defy a judge’s order to remain silent on the case in order to tell their story. They were set to appear in court today to respond to charges of contempt, but have had to delay the hearing due to a family emergency.
“We will continue to fight. We will never give up on our daughter and for what we believe is morally right. We will continue to tell our story, even though we are currently in contempt of court, and try to keep other families from going through this. Our greatest fear is that our daughter is now going to become a victim of this system and eventually take her own life.”
While Krista has expressed fear that the family’s legal avenues are limited, she has said that they intend to find any means they can against Montana Child and Family Services as well as the hospital where Jennifer was treated.
“I will also be looking at if we have a case against Youth Dynamics Group Home for socially transitioning our daughter against our wishes,” Krista says. “This is NOT about money, this is about standing up and telling our story so this does not happen to another family. We will fight to save our daughter no matter what it costs us financially or emotionally. That’s what parents do for their children.”
*The child’s name has been changed at the request of her parents.

Another thing about Harvey in Gotham Knights I’ve noticed is how quickly they moved to make him a mayoral candidate this early on in the first season. I’ve recently been talking about how, ever since The Dark Knight, writers keep seeing Harvey as a politician and candidate more than they see him as a District Attorney. Hell, in the first couple episodes, D.A. Dent was acting more like a cop than a lawyer, leading investigations like he was Commissioner Gordon.
They’re going out of their way to depict him as anything other than a lawyer and public prosecutor, which I keep seeing happening a lot with Harvey stories. I’m reminded how the She-Hulk showrunner admitted they downplayed the legal aspects of the show--a show about Jennifer Walters, mind you--because “ one thing that we all realized very slowly was none of us are that adept at writing, you know, rousing trial scenes.”
It’s interesting how this is happening, because it suggests an interest in Harvey Dent as a character and wanting to give him an active role in stories, but one that’s entirely divorced from one of his most fundamental factors because no one knows how (or wants) to write legal dramas. And speaking as someone who loves Harvey but wouldn’t know how to write that either, I sympathize! But also, when you do that, you play into the political aspects, his personal ambition, which is something he didn’t have in Eye of the Beholder. That Harvey expressly said he didn’t want to be Mayor or anything other than the D.A., simply to do the job he’s wanted all his life.
This currently-popular perception of Harvey as being a politician-first can lead to good stories, with the Billy Dee Williams take in Batman 89. But more often than not, we get stuff like Catwoman: Lonely City where he has a lust for power rather than an earnest desire to see justice done. And in the case of Gotham Knights, that political power is exactly what the Court of Owls wants to exploit, so putting him in that position serves the greater plot.
My concern is that we’re going to see people increasingly warping some of the core aspects of who and what Harvey Dent is in the name of being able to use him outside the courtroom (or his office) to benefit the more action-packed pace of Batman stories. And all because people just don’t know what to do with a District Attorney as a character.

Actually I would like to hear about your thoughts on aunt Jen! I find it funny how little the fandom uses her
Oh boi Aunt Jen. First off she is older than Henry and is the complete opposite to her younger brother.
Jen’s real name is Jennifer Emily but she comes by Jen.
Talking about how she’s completely opposite to Henry I’m more so talking about how they deal with emotions. Jen is a lot more reserved while Henry is a lot more emotional especially when it comes to his family and his older sister. Though she is very much a person who likes an occasional one night stand.
Jen’s job was going to be a lawyer but changed into being a therapist due to reasons I’ll get to later.
She is bisexual like her brother.
Jen was the reason Henry even stayed in contact with Hannah (his wife) while he was in England for his robotics stuff as at the time Henry didn’t think that Hannah was interested in talking with him. That of course changed when Jen basically locked them in a room together and that’s how Henry and Hannah started dating.
She was married for a bit and was expecting a child with her husband before having a miscarriage and her husband dying from cancer later. After that she swore off dating or even having a child of her own as the pain was too much.
At Henry and Hannah’s wedding she and William had a one night stand. At first she thought it could be something more but once she realised that she was being used for William and Clair’s (William’s future wife) she became engaged at being so foolish.
Her hate for William ran so deep that once she got rights to the Fazbear company after a really long lawsuit against William she ceased all future projects with the characters due to the many amounts of death that had happened. Also she protected her brother’s location after he had vanished from the public eye after the fnaf 2 location.
When Charlie died and got the full series of events she was the first one to piece together that William killed Charlie and would often hint to her brother that his supposed best friend killed his daughter.
She did have a one night stand with Hannah after Hannah had divorced Henry. She didn’t resent Hannah for it like she did for William as she knew that she was also to blame for it happening as at the time she herself was grieving at the loss of her husband.
Jen helped Henry out with the fnaf 6 fire as she was the one with the rights to the Fazbear brand (Fazbear Frights had nothing to do with her and she was planning on suing the people behind it).
Jen was part of the reason for why Sammy had even invited his parents to his wedding as she told him to do so thinking it would bring their family together. Unfortunately it did for a bit as Henry and Hannah would get back together but Henry was still too focused on Charlie that he didn’t pay much attention to his due to seeing too much of Charlie in him.
After the fnaf 6 fire she would pass away shortly afterwards leaving Sammy with the rights towards the Fazbear brand thinking that William was dead.

Chapter Questions Chapter 1-12
Chapters 1 to 3 of "The Inheritance Games" by Jennifer Lynn Barnes:
Chapter 1:
1. What is your first impression of Avery Grambs as a protagonist? How does the author introduce her character and set the tone for the story?
- She doesn’t seem like she has confidence in herself. She also seems to pity herself with the ‘oh why me’ situation.
- Seems like she is playing in the park with someone who is homeless but then she is very smart her Principal comes out to find her…
2. Analyze the impact of the unexpected inheritance news on Avery and her family. How does it disrupt their lives, and what are their initial reactions?

7. Discuss the role of curiosity and intrigue in driving Avery to explore the mysteries surrounding the Hawthorne fortune.
- I think for Avery it really is curiosity but also a anxiousness and panic to why she was named and called. Could she be part of the 4.5 Billion dollar estate? Why has she been invited to such an event and she was basically living in her car and it seems like everyone is on edge because they’ve been waiting for this person name Avery to show up so they can listen to the last will and testament.
8. Consider the significance of the various rules and restrictions outlined in Tobias Hawthorne's will.
- Everyone has to be there.

W I L L Y O U T A K E M Y C A S E ? P T 3
Jennifer Walters x Reader
Request: yep
Summary: when texting turns to sexting, you decide to break the sexy ice (double pun intended), basically no plot other than that 👍 no comment
Warnings: Swearing; oral (female receiving); fingering; all kinds of sec ig; praise kink; daddy kink; top!reader; bottom!Jen; edging; smoking
Word Count: 2K+
You and Jennifer were practically an item. No labels or anything - after all, she was still officially your lawyer, but that didn't change the fact that you saw each other almost every day and never paused your texting.
You were currently lying on your bed thinking about this wonderful fact, pretending to read a book called Transactional Analysis that you were already two chapters into but certainly hadn't gained any knowledge from.
Your phone pinged. You were very pleased to find it was a picture from Jennifer, opening your chat happily. She had told you about a conference she was attending today. What could be so interesting there that she'd send a photo.
You read the message under the photo before opening it.
I snuck out of the meeting to send you this... hope you like it ❤️
Thoroughly confused, you downloaded the image, only to have your eyes practically bulge out of your skull.
The photo consisted of Jennifer, no top, skirt pulled to her ankles, pushing her breasts (lacy bra, simple black) towards the camera with a hand in between her thighs. The text across the middle read 'thinking of you 💋'.
Realising you had stopped breathing, you did so, deeply, pushing your head back into the covers of the bed, your own hand venturing south to cup the growing tent in your pants. "Fuck."
After a moment's calm, you typed back, seeing she was still online.
You wanna do this now?
Do what, lover boy?
You really want me to fuck you today?
If you insist...
A voice-mail followed her message, but this time you were prepared.
Well, perhaps not entirely prepared, because the sound of her moaning your name had you halfway over the edge already.
Take off your panties. Pull up your skirt and put on that top. Go back to the meeting. After, come straight to my apartment. No stopping on the way.
Whatever you say, daddy 😘
You heaved a breath, repositioning your pants. She drove you wild, that was for certain.
You had thought about fucking her before, of course. How couldn't you, she was gorgeous. And something told you it might just be different to sex with any other woman (apart from how much you liked her).
You were certainly no stranger to hook-ups, and you liked pleasuring women very much, not to mention getting a good blowjob or so, but you never actually fucked anyone.
You were scared, and that's all there was to it. Scared you'd be too big, too hard, that you would accidentally go too hard.
But this was She-Hulk. This was a big woman, almost incapable of injury, and how could that go wrong?
You were ecstatic. And you would be lying if you said you didn't listen to that voice mail more than thirty times in the next few minutes.
•••
Jennifer hadn't heard half of the conference points that she should have, but it didn't matter. She could ask a coworker tomorrow.
Her thighs aches from rubbing together for the past hour and her core throbbed to no avail, tensing and un-tensing and aching all over again. Her panties lay bundled up in her handbag as she climbed the steps to your cheap apartment.
She knocked, three times, four - the door opened, and your eyes were also dark. You both noticed the involuntary shaking of her legs.
"Nice to see you, love. How did the conference go?" you asked sweetly, taking her handbag from her as if nothing were going on.
"Uh- good. Fine. Just fine."
"You weren't distracted, were you? Wouldn't want your incredible mind focusing on anything other than the most important things." She followed you into the bedroom, watching as you sat down, took her panties out of the bag and set it aside, holding her underwear as if that were nothing out of the ordinary.
"W-Well, actually... I was thinking about you a lot. About what you might do when I came," she confided, but you only grinned.
"That's what I meant, sweetheart." She shivered. "Aren't you going to undress for me?"
She couldn't help but smile shyly as you connected your phone to the speaker and put on some steamy music. Her hands found the hem of her top and with hardly any hesitation whatsoever, she pulled it over her head.
"Good girl," you praised, pretending to be otherwise unbothered.
She dragged her skirt down her legs slowly, sensuously, gaining more and more confidence. Her pussy was immediately on display for you to examine, dripping wet and running down her thighs.
"What got you so wet, baby? Don't tell me you touched yourself."
"No, daddy, it's all you," she said sweetly, dropping her skirt 'on accident', turning around and bending over to pick it up, putting her ass and cunt on full display.
"You tryna tease daddy?" you husked, a tone of caution in your voice while it was obvious you were impressed.
Impressed was an understatement. You had never been this hard.
"No, never. I just wanted to show daddy what's his," she replied, voice a little high-pitched. You licked your lips at her willingness for you to claim her.
"Take it all off, don't be shy," you added, seeing as she was still wearing her bra.
"I don't think I can manage on my own," she cooed, so you gestured for her to come to you. Her bra was ripped clean in half. She shuddered.
"C'mon, baby, stand back and turn so I can look at you properly. Arms over your head."
Jennifer obeyed, turning slowly in circles so that you could scrutinise all sides of her.
She was perfect. Curvaceous in all the right places, love handles, hot neck, everything.
You both loved the power difference; you, fully clothed, in control, her, entirely vulnerable, naked, at your mercy.
"So pretty for me, my little girl. Lie down," you instructed, so she did, automatically spreading her legs in hope. "Now, I want you to be real loud for me, yeah? I wanna hear every little sound that pretty mouth of yours can make."
She whimpered, and you considered that a good start.
"I need you to use your big girl words, darling."
"Yes, daddy, I'll be loud."
"Good girl." You positioned yourself between her legs and placed a hand on each of her tits, massaging them placidly as she started panting.
You pressed a soft kiss to her left inner thigh, then her right, then one at the top of her crotch. She groaned in arousal.
Fingers rolled her nipples between their tips, a large hand closed around her wrists, mouth came up to meet her right breast and suck on it, swirling tongue around her nipple.
"Fuck- Mark me, please," she whined, a childish sound you weren't used to but were sure to grow to love.
Your teeth bit down on her tit, sucking and holding to form multiple purple-ish marks around her neck and breasts.
"You ready, little girl?" Your lips hovered over her pussy.
"Y-Yes, please, please, I need you-" Her begging was cut short when your mouth attached to her clit, sucking there instead as Jennifer's back arched.
An animalistic moan escaped her as she writhed under your touch, her nails bearing down on your back painfully, but you didn't mind. She could scar you for all you cared.
Withdrawing your hands from her tits, you pushed her legs apart further, guiding her legs over your shoulders as she spasmed.
"Oh- Oh, fuck, fuck, fuck- I'm clo- I'm- I'm-"
She couldn't string the sentence together. She had never been pleasured like this in her whole life, and you were only going to let it get better. Short, high-pitched moans matched your every thrust. The sound was pornographically angelic.
"Don't cum. You won't like what happens if you do," you threatened, determined to make her squirt.
She writhed more, moaning unspeakably loud - loud enough for the neighbours to hear at ease - when you pushed three fingers into her soaking cunt.
"P-Please, daddy, I can't- I can't- it's too much-"
"Look how good I'm fucking you, pretty girl," you interrupted your mouth's assault on her clit. "Look how I'm destroying your cunt. If you cum now, this won't be happening again any time soon. Look!"
She forced her eyes down to where you lay between her legs, her juices running over her tummy. You added a fourth finger when you saw the tears in her eyes, had them grow perfectly cold against her warm insides, but she wouldn't risk your threat if she could at all help it.
She wanted to croak out more begging, but was sure if she opened her mouth your entire face would be full of her.
You pulled away at her desperation, slowly withdrawing your four slick fingers and sucking on them as she looked at you.
"You did good, little girl. On your knees for me, now. Soon you can cum."
You helped her a little in getting on her knees as she trembled, positioning yourself behind her.
"You sure about this, honey?"
"Hold my hand?" she whimpered in response, and you gladly leaned over her to entwine your fingers.
"Now?"
"Yes, please, daddy."
You undid your belt, pulling your pants down just enough for your dick to spring out, which wasn't far.
You lined up at her entrance, biting back all the fears of hurting her, and slid slowly inside.
"Ow- fuck, you're big," she moaned.
"Is it too much?"
"N-No. No, it could never be. How do you fuck normal-sized people with that thing?"
"I don't, love," you confessed, and she noted even in a time like this how much this meant to you.
"Then fuck me like you've never fucked anybody before. I'll love it, don't worry."
She groaned again as you pushed yourself in to the hilt, slowly wondering if she could strangle you this way from being so tight.
"I need you, (y/n)!"
That was all you needed to hear.
You pounded into her with inhuman strength, relishing her occasional screams of pleasure as she bunched the sheets with her fists. You would be receiving a noise complaint in the morning. You couldn't care less.
"F-Fuck, (y/n)! Don't stop! Fu-"
She moaned loudly between the whining and screaming, a heavenly sound. She held onto your hand even tighter.
Something cracked.
A creak.
The bed collapsed beneath the two of you.
She shrieked.
You let out a primitive groan.
She squirted like she never had in her entire life.
You pulled out of her quickly, only then realising you had completely forgotten to use a condom.
Half your bed was full of white liquid.
You turned to examine the damage, laughing at the cliché of actually managing to break a bed.
"Oh, my god! I'm so sorry!" she exclaimed, you quickly attempting to console her.
"It's just a bed, it's no problem, I'm not short on money-"
"No- I- Oh, I'm so sorry- Your back, (y/n)!"
You only just realised the teeming pain on the skin of your back where she had scratched you.
"Oh. Hey, that's okay, I don't mind a mark. Are you okay?"
"Am I okay? Did you see what I just did? I squirted. I don't do that."
You laughed and stood, picking her up with one arm behind her back and another under her knees. "Let's get you cleaned up."
"Fuck... you know, I'm so glad I took your case a month ago."
"Yeah. Me, too."

Sneak peek because you liked the last one so much…
*
Jennifer walked back into the room holding two separate file folders, “okay I think this is everything you asked for, Yelena. Information on Mila and Dylan as well as the last known whereabouts of Val.” Alexei stared at the woman and it was making her a little uncomfortable, “hello,” she said though her face was anything but pleasant.
“Papa,” Yelena slapped his shoulder. “Do not stare at her. That is rude.”
“Do you not know who this is?” Alexei turned, pretending to rub his shoulder like it hurt.
“Yes,” Yelena rolled her eyes. “That is Ms. Walters. Our lawyer.”
“No, that is she-hulk.”
Yelena looked from her father’s stupid expression to Jen who looked slightly embarrassed, “she hulk? This is what they call you? That has to be a joke. And I thought spiderboy was bad enough. She-hulk? Really?”
“I didn’t pick the name,” she sounded a little defensive.
“She’s really something special,” Yelena’s head whipped around when her girlfriend added her two cents into the conversation.
“So everybody is in love with you. Peter? You too?”
Peter’s eyes lit up, “you called me Peter.” He saw her face turn, “ma’am. Umm, yes I know who she is.”
“She come on mission.” Alexei made it more of a statement than a question.
“Nobody asked me,” Jen looked off to the side, “I mean as a superhero it would’ve been nice to be included but you think anyone cares about inviting the outsider from LA on their mission?”
“Does she know we can hear her?” Alexei asked the group.
“I think she might be schizophrenic,” Yelena shrugged.
“She can also hear us,” Kate shushed them. “Don’t be rude. And I agree she should come on the mission.”
Yelena let out a really long sigh, “fine but only if she proves herself in the simulation. Sonya will not be happy if she gets her ass handed to her by a hulk.”
“Yes!” Kate and Alexei high fives behind Yelena’s back.

It was the first birthday in Wren’s life that she didn’t wake up to the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls or a trail of flowers leading her to the giant balloon arch in the kitchen where her parents waited to dote on her with affection and gifts. It wasn’t the first tradition that had been broken since “the event”, as Wren had dubbed Wingard’s gala in her head, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last.
Instead of the sweet scent of nostalgia slowly rousing her from her slumber, Wren was woken up abruptly by the incessant vibrating of her phone on her nightstand. Eyes still closed and half asleep, she grinned to herself, assuming the call was one of her girlfriend’s to be the first to wish her an official happy birthday and gossip about last night’s party, and answered the phone with as much enthusiasm her groggy hangover would allow.
“Miss Devereaux?” The voice on the other end was definitely not Lola or Lenna. Wren sat up straight in her bed, running her fingers through the tangled mess of blonde locks on her head and pushing them out of her face. Blinking a few times to wake herself up more thoroughly, the voice repeated her name, this time with a hint of irritation.
“Yes. Hi, hello. Who’s speaking?” She finally replied, voice hoarse from lack of use and yelling most of the night over the music and fireworks.
“This is Jennifer Briggs, with the Miami-Dade Police Department. I’m sorry to have to make this call to you so early on a holiday but we need you to come down to the station. We’ve recovered your father’s body.” The phone slipped from Wren’s hand and onto the bed. She could hear the muffled voice of Jennifer Briggs into the comforter, once again saying her name. It felt like she couldn’t breathe and her vision was fuzzy before fading.
“'I'm not going to pass out.” Wren told herself as she tried to steady her breathing. “Compartmentalize.” She reminded herself, a tactic she used to get through the panic attacks when James died. Picking the phone back up, she brought it to her ear.
“What do you mean you recovered his body?” She said, her voice shaking as she tried to keep calm despite feeling the tears that were burning behind her eyes. “Where? What happened? What about my mother?” The questions were spewing out of her mouth in a jumbled mess, one on top of the other and they were the only thing that kept the impending sobs at bay.
“Miss…we’ll be happy to answer all your questions down at the station.”
The call ended and Wren stared at the now locked and dark screen of the phone cradled in her hands. The tears broke through, splattering off the screen until she had run completely dry a couple hours later. Her relationship with her father had been tumultuous in the past few years, to say the least, but there had been twenty years before that where he had been her hero. She wanted him to pay for what he had done, but not with his life. Wiping the screen clean, she unlocked her device and made two calls before getting dressed to go down to the station.
First, she called Jason. He might have been associated with Wingard but he was also the only lawyer Wren knew and if there was one thing the True Crime genre boom had taught her, it was that you didn’t go to the police station without a lawyer. Guilty or not.
Second, she called Damon but was met with his voicemail, which was too full for her to leave him a message so she followed up with a text.
Did they tell you they found his body?

Oversharing on the internet
Thank you @ambiguouspenny for the tag!! <3
1. Are you named after anyone?
Ohhh yes. My first name is literally the female version of my dad and brother’s name… Patricio/Patrick. My middle name is after my Abuela (dad’s side) bc she died a couple of months before I was born.
2. When was the last time you cried?
HA! I’m actually proud of this one *clears throat* ever since the 911 Lone Star finale...for now.
3. Do you have kids?
I’m 22 almost 23, so my only child has four legs and lives in my apt rent free. I’m also undecided about having them in general (bio or adopted)? I have a autoimmune disease that makes it harder for me to have them and I also had surgery when I was 14… lets say I have 1/3 of my left ovary chopped off bc of a random health issue I had as a kid and now I have a faint smiley face on my bikini line :) talk about oversharing.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
*Takes sunglasses off* Babes, I invented sarcasm. It’s the fourth language I’m fluent in… its a culture thing.
5. What sports have you played/do you play?
Fútbol and futsal. Loved them. Stopped when I got into college but I still participated in intramural games in my sorority/club. I also played basketball in middle school for a bit, but ultimately gave it up bc there wasn't really a girl’s team in my school.
6. What's the first thing you notice about people?
Their personality so I don't make them angry on purpose. I’m a notorious people pleaser, and I hate confrontation when it comes to myself, so I need you to like me…. LIKE ME
7. What's your eye colour?
I have dark, brown cow eyes
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Scary movies bc I cry when movies have happy endings and I don't like tearing up at the movies. Emotions? me? pfttt
9. Any special talents?
I can meow like an actual cat, and put my feet at the back of my head, you know the usual.
10. Where were you born?
El Caribe 😎
11. What are your hobbies?
Singing, drawing, playing the ukulele
12: Do you have any pets?
My 3 year old cat, harry :)
13. How tall are you?
I’m Jennifer Love Hewitt, inches tall.
14. Favourite subject in school?
P.E and Maths. Mind you, I hate Maths with a great passion, but I was in group B (When you reached the 6th grade, they will separate the two form groups of your year group, in my school there was two class groups per year, and they will separate students in A and B group depending on how well you were doing in that specific subject). B group was always the funniest class to be in. I was usually an A group type of student but I always made sure I was in B group for at least a few of my classes and in Maths? It was inevitable.
Anyways, I sat in the middle of the most chaotic pair of people, this dude (a twin) who had a crush on me at the time and this volleyball player who I once had a fall out with. For context, back home I went to a small British school, pre-k––12th grade, and from the 6th grade until I left on 10th grade, I always sat with them bc I will always LAUGH MY ASS OFF every damn class period. Our teacher was this 24 year old guy from Scotland and he was fine with us being together because we got good grades and did the work. I like looking back at this because, we weren't friends, we didn't hang out or talked after class much, but we always sat together because it brought us joy.
Oddly enough I will always miss the poorly drawn dicks at the last page of my maths notebook, the stupid jokes, and the dumb noises they will make on purpose 😂
15. Dream job
To be an immigration lawyer and help other minorities. I just graduated from college, so I’m taking a much needed year off and then law school here I come!
And my “You probs already did this, and def don't do it again if you have, but I’m still tagging you because its 2am” tag goes to: @noxsoulmate @itsneonbright @tailoredshirt @anchor-bird-94 @taralaurel @tylerkennedys @catanisspicy and anyone else who wants to do this :)

I feel like I’ve teased everyone with who Bryce’s new girlfriend is in my AU so I thought I’d introduce her properly
Meet Doctor Adelaide Fielding
Tumblr media
Face claim: Victoria Justice
She works in Surgery just like Bryce. She transferred from California earlier on in the year. Bryce was constantly staring from a distance until Raf told him to make a move, so he did and they made it official at Halloween.
I also decided to give Sienna a happy ending as she deserves it.
So meet Doctor Dylan Jones
Tumblr media
Face claim: Anthony de la Torre (yes I’m lazy but it also helps with finding photos of him and LC lol)
They meet at Ethan and Victoria’s wedding, Victoria having known Anthony from working round the hospital, he works in the PEDS department. They announce they are a couple at Christmas.
Oh and I also have sometime for Aurora. And again I was lazy with the FC lol
Meet Lawyer Greg Sanderson
Tumblr media
Face claim: Keith Powers
Aurora ends up treating him in the ER for his diabetes which is how they meet. He later comes back asking for her name and they go out for a drink. This happens 6 months after E and V’s wedding (so this month) and they become an item at the end of January.
I’ve decided that Elijah and Phoebe reconnect (because her suddenly disappearing makes no sense) and Jackie and Kyra don’t end up with anyone but they become the chaotic aunties to the gangs children lol. And I already have the HC of Raf ending up with one of Victoria’s friends Jennifer.

Comics read this past week:
Marvel Comics:
The Savage She-Hulk (1980) #2-3
With these issues of The Savage She-Hulk I went from December 1979 to January 1980, according to the Marvel Wiki. The first issue of this series, which was She-Hulk’s first ever appearance and origin story, had been written by Stan Lee, but these issues were written by David Anthony Kraft. Issue #2 was penciled by Mike Vosburg and inked by Chic Stone. And the breakdowns of the art for issue #3 were drawn by Mike Vosburg, which were then finished by Chic Stone. Issue #2 was colored by Bob Sharen and issue #3 was colored by Carl Gafford.
These issues provided a bit more background on Jen. In issue #1 she had been shot by criminals working for Nick Trask because she was representing another criminal named Monkton, who was being framed for murdering Trask’s bodyguard. There she was somewhat flippant about risk to herself, saying, “C’mon! Those things only happen in movies,” when it’s suggested that Trask might try to have her killed, which happens right before the shooting. In issue #2 it’s revealed that Nick Trask actually had Jen’s mother killed because Jen’s father is a police officer that was pursuing him, so this all is a personal vendetta for Jen. But Jen’s father is against Jen trying to take Trask down as a lawyer because he’s afraid of the risk to Jen.
Also, surprisingly to me, Jennifer’s transformation into the She-Hulk didn’t completely heal her injuries from being shot, which isn’t something we’ve seen happen to Bruce. She’s even wearing a back brace. Her back pain sort of takes the place of creating drama that Bruce’s need to keep his emotions in control does. After a frustrating interaction with a rival, Jen’s internal dialogue reads: “Ungh! Bukowski made me so mad… I twisted my back… pain is killing me…” This is just that her anger made her thoughtlessly move in a way that exacerbated her injury, not that her powers themselves are making anger painful for her, but she’s even taking tranquilizers to help her manage like Bruce used when he was still keeping that he was the Hulk a secret and still had his job working for General Ross. Later there’s a scene where Jen chases after her friend who is in danger, trying to handle the situation without transforming, but: “Pulse racing as fast as her feet, Jen sprints up the street… But then she stops short… as sudden, searing pain shoots up her spine!” She falls to the ground and in her anger transforms into the She-Hulk, which was the only way she could handle that situation at that point anyway.
There also is some amount of memory disconnect between Jennifer Walters and the She-Hulk, which I hadn’t gotten the impression of from issue #1. In issue #3 there’s a moment where Jen is shown footage of the She-Hulk holding the dead body of a man that she knew she had been searching for earlier and she’s horrified, thinking, “What have I done?! I remember that man… I held him in my arms as… her! It’s all so hazy…” When she does transform into the She-Hulk again, she remember that the man was already dead when she found him.
Similarly to Jen still being affected by being shot despite transforming into the She-Hulk and back again, when she thinks that she killed that man in issue #3 she takes a heavy dosage of tranquilizers to prevent herself from transforming again and overdoses and has to be saved by her med student friend, which is a kind of thing I don’t think we’ve seen Bruce experience up to this point in his comics.
The Hulk! (1978) #27
This issue of The Hulk! was published in April 1981, according to the Marvel Wiki. It contained two black-and-white Hulk stories, both of which were penciled by Gene Colan. The first was 30 pages and was written by Lora Byrne and inked by Dave Simons. And the second was 20 pages and was written by J. M. DeMatteis and inked by John Tartaglione.
In the first story there’s a scene where a man who thinks Bruce has been flirting with a woman he’s interested in says, “Yer’n awful feeble excuse for a man, f’ya don’t mind me sayin’ so,” while giving Bruce a painfully tight handshake. Bruce’s response is, “No, no, not at all. Everybody says that.” While Bruce is motivated here to try to not provoke this man by not wanting to risk transforming into the Hulk and hurting him, what he says isn’t actually entirely untrue. Bruce’s early comics are filled with him being degraded by General Ross for failing to be properly manly, saying that he’s “weak-kneed,” “lily-livered,” and a “milksop.” And the way that Bruce talks when this situation escalates was really reminiscent to me of that language. The man says, “It fairly turns my stomach to have to kill such a poor excuse of a man as you, but I got my honor to consider.” Bruce responds, “Listen, I’ll agree that you’re a better man than I am! I’ll run away just to show what a yellow-livered coward I am, and then you don’t have to…” It’s interesting to me that Bruce is visibly feeble enough to be considered a failure of a man and how readily he attempts, though it’s ultimately unsuccessful in this situation, to use that appearance to try to fend off other men who are risking provoking him into transforming into the Hulk. Despite that this was been a part of Bruce’s character since the beginning, we haven’t gotten much on how Bruce feels about not living up to standards of masculinity because he’s been preoccupied monologuing about how he feels about being the Hulk. Though this does remind me of how during Betty’s breakdown when Glenn Talbot was taking prisoner right after their honeymoon she said that she never even got to cook a meal for him in their home.
Iron Man (1968) #90-94
In this batch of Iron Man issues I went from June 1976 to October 1976, according to the Marvel Wiki. Issue #90 was plotted by Archie Goodwin and scripted by Jim Shooter, issues #91-92 were written by Gerry Conway, and issues #93-94 were plotted by Herb Trimpe and scripted by Gerry Conway. Issues #90-92 were penciled by George Tuska and issues #93-94 were penciled by Herb Trimpe. And issues #90 and #92-94 were inked by Jack Abel and issue #91 was inked by Bob Layton. Issues #90 and #92 were colored by Don Warfield, issue #93 was by Janice Cohen, and issue #94 was colored by George Roussos. The colorist of issue #91 is unknown.
Back in issue #85 Tony had changed his armor to a form-fitting piece that he can wear under his clothes which extends to cover his limbs and head when activated. He’d previously carried around his armor in a briefcase. In issue #90 Tony has the thought, “I’m beginning to wonder if I wasn’t better off in my old, slightly clumsier, heavier but much more powerful armor.” In issue #91 he says, “Even though I’ve had it for weeks, I still don’t feel comfortable in my new de-polarizing armor. It’s like wearing a tee-shirt and swim trunks- it just doesn’t feel like metal- and subconsciously I guess that bothers me. Perhaps I’m more conservative than I thought.” He adds in issue #92, “I even feel nostalgia for my cumbersome old attache case.” But also in issue #92 Tony’s suit is ruined by the Melter and he has to use one of his older ones, which presents its own complication: “No! This armor is still stiff- awkward! I can’t pull my swing- Horgan’s stumbling backward, toward the window- and I can’t catch him!” This villain ends up falling to his death.
In issue #90, while working on his armor, Tony suspiciously has the experience, “I still have some tests to run before I do any major design- Uhhh! F-feeling… a little… dizzy… wobbly. Must be working too hard. Not enough sleep… I… guess.” He doesn’t go sleep after this, though, and instead goes out as Iron Man to follow up a lead in a case. In issue #93, while on a mission, Tony has another concerning experience: “Unnnnhh! That’s funny. For a moment there… I felt dizzy… and weak all over, in my arms… and my legs! It must be my armor. It’s been functional the last few hours, but all that swimming may have damaged some circuits.” It happens again in issue #94: “Uhhh… some sort of chill… like that sensation of pressure I felt a few hours ago. For a moment, I was so weak- but it’s gone, so relax, Tony.”
In issue #90 Tony tracks a villain down to an abandoned warehouse and has the thought, “How could I have forgotten this place? Janice Cord owned it. I- loved her very much, once.”
In issue #90 there’s a moment where Iron Man gets sucker punched and Tony thinks, “I deserved it- standing there flat-footed like a- uhh!- brainless novice!” Later he tells the villain, “You had your inning! You shouldn’t have even had an inning, ugly! Don’t know what’s the matter with me! Maybe I’m just not used to fighting with my armor fully operational and at peak power! Or maybe it’s just that I’m basically a peaceful type- and I hold back a lot because I don’t want to hurt anybody!”
In issue #92 Tony says, “If only Pepper and Happy Hogan were here, so I could confide in someone… But no… I’m alone- the millionaire ‘man who had everything’ is missing one all-important item- a friend!” The narration immediately corrects him: “Well, not quite. The owner of Stark International does have a few friends, though they’re not privy to his secret life…”
In issue #93 Tony thinks, as he’s working on an issue with his armor, “I’m glad I’m not in danger- because if I were, and I had to fight, I might be killed. That’s the trouble with my armor. No matter how great the advantages it provides- it can also provide an equal disadvantage without the slightest warning. Sometimes I wonder, do I control it- or does it control me?” When he is attacked, he thinks, “I should have known something like this would happen. My luck’s been bad ever since I stepped on that land-mine back it Vietnam, years ago.”
In issue #93, regarding an enemy’s advanced technology, Tony thinks, “From one point of view, I can admire Kraken for his engineering know-how… but there are days when I’m not too proud of that particular point of view.”
There was an emphasis on disability with the villains in this batch of issues. The Controller, who is paralyzed but can make himself able and super strong by absorbing the strength from ordinary people that he takes control of and enslaves through technology, says in issue #91, “I’ll tell you about war, Iron Man. War is the battle within you, when you’re body becomes a twisted ruin- and your mind is all you have left! War is the hate you live with, when you’ve nothing else to live for! War is being crippled, paralyzed- and praying for death!” And in issue #94, regarding the villain the Kraken, Tony says, “A few years ago he was egotistical, maniacal, brilliant- but as far as I can remember, hardly mad! Apparently, he’s changed more than physically, once he had a hook for a hand- now it’s been replaced with a powerful robot fist and a razor-sharp electro-sword- just as his left leg is now a flying ‘jet peg’! He’s also heavier, stronger, scarred! Could all these physical changes have affected his mind?” This would have stood out anyway even if it wasn’t for the suggestion that Tony’s heart problems were returning, because, as Tony’s heart problems have been a part of his character since his origin story, disability has always been relevant with him.
The Defenders (1972) #87-91
In this batch of The Defenders issues I went from June 1980 to October 1980, according to the Marvel Wiki. Issues #87-88 and #90-91 were written by Ed Hannigan. Issue #89 was plotted by David Anthony Kraft and Ed Hannigan, with Mark Gruenwald and Steve Grant contributed ideas, and then scripted by Ed Hannigan. The breakdowns for the art of all of these issues were drawn by Don Perlin, which were all then finished by Pablo Marcos. Issue #87 was colored by Barry Grossman and issues #88-91 were colored by George Roussos.
In issue #87 there was a secret tribunal discussing the Defenders, before which Jack Norris was asked to testify, who hasn’t been seen in this book for awhile. He’s the husband of the woman whose body the Valkyrie is possessing. While Jack tried to defend them, the tribunal was otherwise framing the team as a group of dangerous criminals, particularly with regards to their association with the Hulk. It’s noted that, “Subjects apparently were searching for the Hulk, and they seemed to be concerned for his safety, rather than that of the populace.” Another person testifying was Patsy’s ex-husband, who did not portray her favorably. I really liked this because I had enjoyed it when the concept of the Defenders was that they were a team of largely outcasts, for whatever reason, from the broader superhero community and weren’t known by the civilian population, and I found it annoying when they were suddenly made public. This is a return to treating them as not like a standard publicly-regarded team. But there is a new writer starting in issue #92 so it’s possible that this plot thread will be dropped.
Patsy learns that her mother died in issue #89 and the rest of the team, at Patsy’s request, attends the funeral. After that Patsy’s mother’s home ends up becoming the new base of the Defenders, since Kyle’s riding academy burned down and Dr. Strange “isn’t keen on having the Defenders as permanent guests.” Patsy says, “Kyle, I want you to stay. You, too, Bruce. I’d like my friends to be with me for a while. Val and I will probably be moving to here to New Jersey… so you might as well get to know the area.” This leads to a discussion of Patsy’s backstory: “Mom was the ultimate stage mother and I was the Brooke Shields of my day. Mom’s friend, Millie the Model, tried to get me jobs showing children’s fashions… But I wasn’t very good at it. I was more interested in being a tomboy! That didn’t stop her, though. When I was still a kid she hit on the idea of writing stories about me as a teenage romance idol. Overnight, I was a comic book star! When I was old enough to know what was happening, I felt like a freak!” This was apparently a successful business venture as it’s said that the royalties are what paid for Patsy’s mother’s nice house. This all was surprising to me, even though I knew that the original Patsy Walker published by Timely Publications in the 1940s was a teen romance character in comics marketed for teenage girls, because I didn’t think that there was going to be any connection made between the two. Also, the last way that Patsy’s feelings about her modeling career were portrayed was just that she felt unfulfilled by it.
Timely Publications:
the Captain America stories in Captain America Comics (1941) #2
This issue, which contained 3 Captain America stories, was published in February 1941, according to the publication date recorded in the Catalog of Copyright Entries. These stories were all 15 pages.
What’s most interesting story-wise continues to be Steve and Bucky’s relationship but I’m trying to pay particularly close attention to the artwork of these stories as I’m reading because the style is different from what I’m used to. This week the panels I posted were based on that and not character interactions I found charming.
Fawcett Comics:
the Captain Marvel stories in Whiz Comics (1940) #73 and Captain Marvel Adventures (1941) #58-59
In this batch of 11 Captain Marvel stories I read the Captain Marvel appearances published in April 1946, according to the issue cover dates. These stories ranged from 7 to 11 pages.
The story “Captain Marvel and the World’s Wickedest Witch” in Captain Marvel Adventures #59 (written by Bill Woolfolk; drawn by Pete Constanza) featured Miss Dalshaw, the secretary at Station Whiz. It looks like I didn’t write down when she was last referred to by name, but I know it’s been years.
