u know what. Benjamin Sisko man of all time who straight up did NOT want to be important at work. He cares not about some other planet's religion but is suddenly forced to be Jesus for them despite every intention of being there for a few weeks.

After just taking the assignment to get away from the loss of his wife, he's literally become The Guy to planets of people who desperately need it while also working through his own grief and being a dad to his son on a space station effectively in the middle of nowhere that is now Somewhere.

He hates it sure but also being a Good Man he recognises Bajor needs The Emissary. So, despite the questionable place in the prime directive of it all, he does his best to keep Bajor safe, and learns to really care about its people in the mean time.

Balances the responsibilities of fatherhood, being Space Jesus, and being a leader of a strategically important space station both before and during wartime. How does he do it all? idk but man he sure does it well.

watching people discover the fucked up science guy part of viktor's lore and then being like "we need to acknowledge that he's a fucked up science guy 😔" is so funny. like yeah, he is a fucked up science guy who thinks ethics committees are bullshit because in his mind having rights temporarily violated is perfectly fine if it means saving lives—especially when the ones condemning his beliefs don't offer what they consider to be an ethical alternative to fix the problem and simply let it continue to exist.

and yeah, he's a fucked up science guy who experimented on himself following a, quote: traumatic period of introspection. he had a mental breakdown, fell into a major depressive episode, and spending this horrible time of his life "alone in the depths" reinforced and radicalized his previous beliefs, and to showcase his beliefs (and to try and get rid of his emotions because of how overwhelming they were) he turned himself into a cyborg (and did in fact make himself worse in certain ways but ehh who cares /j).

and yeah, he's a fucked up science guy who gave a kid back alley anti anxiety meds so he could face down his bullies, but he did so after making him a cozy beverage, teaching him about the dangers of propaganda and baseless rumors, and having him scream into a megaphone to freak out said bullies because it was funny (not that he'd admit to finding it funny because then he'd have to admit to having emotions, and well he can't do that, no sir).

so yes, viktor is a fucked up science guy, but that's half his charm! he cares so much about helping people, but he's a weirdo and freak about it! though to be fair, in the city that also has a chemically enhanced werewolf (warwick), a sentient blob of goo (zac), a wind and water goddess (janna), and a literal war criminal who invented chemical warfare (singed), among many other wacky individuals, he's pretty normal all things considered! fucked up science is just a part of life in zaun, my dudes!

Gehegrgrgrrgehegrrr same person who just asked about the quiz, and i can't remember if I got a 56 or a 55!!! I teeeeeechnically chose to remain anonymous so we may never know but I'm definitely curious now.. but regardless!! I thought the quiz was perfect, it was genuinely so much fun! I wouldn't worry about needing to clear things up, but I don't think anyone would blame you for tweaking a few things if you see fit, it's your au after all :]

OOH yeah yeah, I believe there was… 5 people who got a 55? But I haven’t gone through and checked the names for those or anything. I also think it was a fun balance of silly and challenging,so i'm glad you think so! :D

one of the things that I’m planning on making more obvious at some point is the fact that etho was built for terraforming :) it’s on his official reference sheet and came up a few times in asks i think, but an overwhelming majority picked redstone, for good reason x) it’s one of those silly details that just kinda came up here and there without ever being an important feature of any comic or anything, so it doesn’t surprise me that it got missed. I’ve had a silly comic of an early days ethubs comic that I’ve actually wanted to do for like at least 2 years I think, so it’ll be fun to revisit some of those old ramblings to turn it into a lil comic :D

happy new year time for me to bother you with a TRAILER for my short animated film about a mars mission 🎉

surprise I have cobbled together shots I have done from my [traditional] animation I'm working on along with a TEST recording (which is why it sounds like it's being recorded in a toilet that is also a cathedral) of some of the music clips. I tried to edit it like a Real TM Trailer but the pacing is a little weird bc it's a silent film sorry

OK LOTTA BACKGROUND INFO UNDER THE CUT

So if you haven't seen my other posts, I sort of have this thing for doing projects I know damn well shouldn't be done by Just Me however if there's 3 things I enjoy it's exacerbating my wrist problems, traditional animation, and social isolation so last year to get my mind of the trash fire of an election season I bought a bunch of cels and paint and started working on this short film. It's gonna be maybe 10-15 minutes when done and, aside from a handful of tweaks*, it is all traditional 2d animation - hand drawn AND painted (which is why the frame rate makes even the recycled clips in 80s he-man cringe) .

Anyway if you didn't gather from the intertitles, this [a FICTIONAL STORY WHERE EVERYONE IS FICTIONAL PLEASE NO ONE SUE ME] is about the US and Russia collaborating on a mission to Mars where they're gonna send some folks up there to hang out and do research indefinitely until another mission happens. While the crew - comprised of an astronaut Adam and a cosmonaut Yuri - is in transit, war breaks out between the US and Russia back on earth, snapping the ever tightening rubberband of willing cooperation between the countries. Everything goes to hell, and in this case it also threatens to compromise the mission, meaning an uncertain future for the crew, who have to choose between loyalty to the death cult of blind nationalism, or loyalty to science and each other.

I am aiming to finish this in 2025...The story has been in the works for a while, but I only recently felt like "huh I kinda wanna animate this"

Im sorry the music is so....Like That lol. I wanted to get this done today before I go back to work and like I don't think anyone who follows me really minds if it's not perfect rn. See I only have a keyboard at the moment and I was trying to do an aux cable from it to my laptop to keep from recording the UNMANAGEABLE CLOMPCLOMPCLOMPITYCLOMPPP of the keys but it just made the sound toilety uhg oh well. Anyway I am writing some original stuff for the eventual whole film, but for this trailer I arranged some snippets of Tchaikovsky's sleeping beauty for piano (the score is in the public domain fyi...My arrangement is my own...). I've got some other bits of that in the works as well which will also show up in the full film.

Oh another thing is, most of the technical stuff should be fairly grounded in science (maybe aside from some Artistic License Engineering for story/ease of animation reasons, but....). So there's that. I don't think it makes much of a difference for the trailer but IM TELLING YOU BECAUSE I DID SIT THERE AND PAINSTAKINGLY RUN A FUCKING ORBIT PROPAGATION ALGORITHM TO BALLPARK WHERE THE SHIP SHOULD BE AT CERTAIN POINTS IN THE NARRATIVE AND YOU WILL KNOW I SUFFERED. FOR YOU, THE AUDIENCE.

*full disclosure by tweaks I mean stuff it's barely noticeable to you but impractical for me bc cels are REALLY expensive, so stuff like blinking and mouth movements I drew in photoshop because that's probably 100s of mouth-or-eye cels I can't really afford to waste, and you can only scratch paint off and reuse a cel so many times before it looks like crap. Some of the panning I also did by scanning the hand drawn cels and then changing the subject position in photoshop for each frame because I'm compositing frames essentially by sticking them face down in a stack on my scanner bed and haven't found a good way to do it yet. I've attempted to built a little track before but can't get it flat enough for the cover to make contact with the frames and smash them into the glass. If you have a solution for this, let me know.

anyway the target audience of this is people who liked Apollo 13 but wished it was worse quality and was more gay and anarchist so if you are vaguely that please enjoy and follow for updates on this costly and questionable venture

...would a one-armed vampire have problems climbing walls?

As in, do her lizard-climb powers come from razor-sharp nails and a supernatural grip, or is it just Vampire Magic that lets her stick to things? Meaning her feet can be shoed and they'll still stick...and a residual limb can just be considered the New Point of Magical Vampire Contact Between Stone and Flesh?

Or is it always just the hands clinging to the stone, and tremendous body strength keeping the body flat (a one-handed handstand, if you think of it, during position shift), meaning the feet aren't sticking to the wall, but just providing support and anchorage while the hands do all the work? If that's the case, losing a hand might mean a vampire can no longer climb walls, because the gripping limb can't switch...unless she's does a sort of hop-skip method. Or applies a prosthesis to maintain grip with the residual limb.

How do three-legged lizards climb? I imagine the fact that they still have three limbs might render the question moot if we're just dealing with grip...and I know there are plenty of athletes, but that's traditional rock-climbing. I am talking full-on Spider-Man style.
