tbh i think in terms of the nwjns situation, everything will work out. mhj will still play a big role in the creative direction, but she won't have as much power over the girls, hopefully (in terms of their standing as idols. now in terms of emotional manipulation, well...). it's obvious ador is doing what they can to approach the situation. i hope the girls learn that mhj is not the best thing that has ever and ever will happen to them.
#that said#it's still fuck hybe till im 6ft under#mhj is so power hungry that she would hurt nwjns to get it#also ppl say they're too old to be manipulated#and i'd like to remind everyone that you can be manipulated at ANYYYYY AGE!!!!!!! at 60#you can still a victim of emotional manipulatio#it's so upsetting to see ppl call young girls rude names and blame them for hybe being a mess#hybe been a mess and will always be a mess#ppl will always hate women and it's sooooo exhausting#nwjns#i hope we can all move on soon#berry's *still* talkin...⋆.ೃ🩷࿔*:🍓・

Idk if u do yandere but can u do platonic yandere god’s reaction to Zeus’ child daughter ( 13 yrs old ) who is like rapunzel. Like in addition to her great adorable beauty she has absolutely gorgeous blonde hair which is like seventy feet long and can be used to heal, make ppl younger, and even revive ppl who has died in ragnarok. She also has beautiful singing voice that can soothe anyone who listens to it. And is overall very cheerful and optimistic. Also if u dont do yandere u can just make the gods just really fond of her.
Thank u!
The most protected angel
Fem! Reader
As Anon said it's PLATONIC (which should be said cause they're greek gods)
Also don't mind me putting in Tangled references everywhere
Warning: I don't condone this behavior, this is for entertainment for fictional characters. "Yandere" in real life is a SERIOUS problem if you have a problem with manipulation, gaslighting DNI this entire post.
ZEUS who uses his position to scare off anyone who he doesn't approve of. Zeus engraves in your brain that humans will only use you, they don't care about you, they only want to use your powers for their own benefit.
HADES who takes it upon himself to show you how dangerous the human realm is, you're safer with your father. Hades takes it upon himself to "prove" that you're safer with them. You should only trust gods that you father approves of.
POSEIDON who will belittle any suitor who thinks they have a chance with you, being his youngest niece also means he will use that as an excuse as to why you can't do certain things and that you're too naïve to be on your own.
ADAMAS who will control his temper so he doesn't frighten you, he will leave you with either Hades or Zeus if he ever feels his temper going out of control.
APHRODITE who will give you anything you want when it comes to fashion, Aphrodite does your hair and makes sure you have the best clothes. To her you are the only goddess who is more beautiful then her, she makes sure you know that and will join in when Poseidon belittles any god or human who thinks they're worthy of your hand.
HERMES who makes it his mission to prove that Zeus is right, he might even team up with Hades to make sure you stay by their side. Hermes also makes sure you're eating well and that your hair isn't a mess, don't get him wrong he knows that Aphrodite is more then capable of taking care of your hair, but it's just so long and it's always dragging on the floor so let him check your brother is just a worry wart ok?
HERACLES who tries his best to keep your innocence, you're too kind and pure to be out there all alone. Don't get me wrong he loves humanity, but father knows best so listen to him.
ARES who just like Heracles will try his best to keep your innocence, especially about war, someone as kind and gentle as you shouldn't know about that.
LOKI who teams up with Hades and Hermes to "prove" that you're just naïve and can't trust others. Your father knows what's best for you and the others will make sure to always prove that Zeus is right.
THOR who takes his position as your "bodyguard" extremely seriously, he doesn't let any suitors get close to you.
ODIN who will take advantage that he's also a father, he'll tell you that you're too gullible to even leave any of the gods side. They all just want to take advantage of your abilities.
SHIVA who gaslights you saying you're not "in love" with that human, you just invented that whole "romance" thing. All you need is your father and the other gods, you don't need a partner.
BUDDHA who sees how naive you are and gullible you are, you shouldn't be out there all alone, Buddha is much more lenient but don't let that fool you, he's just as dangerous as your father.
ZERO who is your only playmate, he's basically your Pascaal, just much more protective and makes sure you don't leave the heavens.
BEELZEBUB who watches you from the cameras, courtesy of your father. Beelzebub tells Zeus everything that goes on, so be careful....he's always watching.

gen question but isnt dedegoon or dedesuka or whatevr a proship? ive seen some ppl calling it a proship cuz its abusive but your bio says proship dni so idk if its ok to ship or what (sorry im new to this)
hiya! thank you for your ask! it isnt and heres why
first of all i am /Not/ proship. i am not anti-anti or whatever either. what drives me to ship them is the fact theyre friends who like to be in each other's company. i like their sweet moments together. they bond over scamming an innocent population and bullying children. they're partners in crime. theyre besties who talk shit about others as a hobby.
i also don't think theyre already dating. i look at their relationship and im like. you guys have some kind of weird crush on each other and you're also selfish assholes. they're in the world's worst situationship.
"but dedede whacks escargoon a lot!" not only does escargoon get physical towards him too (the dynamic starts shifting in the dentist episode) but his "punishments" are often for a reason. escargoon is often very mean to dedede. in almost every episode he calls him hopeless or stupid or ugly or anything like that. and that gets him a whack. if i were dedede i'd do that too! it'd piss me off! having my lackey who i pay and who i consider my best friend insult me so overtly over and over LOL. but does escargoon ever try and stop him his evil doing? hell no! the guy helps him and gives him advice and ideas! he is NOT a good guy either. he loves being mean! he literally says it!
of course escargoon cares a loy about him. pretty sure everyone is aware. i don't even need to compile all the times he runs after him or worries about his well being. one time he "left" after he realised he'd have to do all the waddle dee's chores and didn't want to do his job. guess who's shown tearing up when seeing what poor state dedede is in after being left all on his own. he's always protecting him and defending him (sometimes backhandedly) from other people. he holds dedede dear. it's obvious he does. he's an old man, he's not being manipulated into liking dedede. he genuinely cares about the guy.
there are episodes where they bicker a lot but end up getting along, episodes where they're the best of friends and episodes focused on their resentment against one another. the show kind of yoyos with their relationship. it's not really anything to take seriously. if you get offended from their interactions you'd get a heart attack from watching looney tunes. the back and forth of their dynamic is part of the fun!
I *highly* recommend watching the original version of the show as the dub often replaces sweet lines they share with jokes that don't really hit the mark. it's a shame. (however i will give the dub some credit on occasion)
Actually, i have a [post] that compiles a lot of sweet screenshots of them together. it doesnt include the times where they hold on to each other in the cannons or in the whispy woods episode or when esxargoon said "isnt this strange? can't you feel we're striving apart?" and dedede says "what! that's ridiculous!" in a lighthearted voice. or when escargoon makes a joke about a late night drive being romantic and dedede just? laughs in agreement? there's a scene where they call each other stupid in the most friendly way ever. i actually have a handy twitter of fun scenes where escargoon gets away with some things (doesn't include when escargoon yells at him in the fireworks episode or orders him in episode 69), like saying *he's* actually the one in power because dedede isn't competent enough to reign. or dedede understanding escargoon's concerns of him becoming dumber than he is already.
they're just villains who are attached to each other and are a team no matter what.
escargoon protects dedede a lot, and he cares about him more than what his job entails, but people tend to forget he's got a special place in dedede's heart too.
dedede keeps an album of pictures they took together. he never threatens to fire him and, as far as i know, never even cuts his salary and is the only one in the castle to even have a bonus. he shares the food he keeps from the waddle dees with him in episode 93. he clarifies he doesnt want knuckle joe's monsters to attack either of them. he's fine spending large amounts of money on him. twice? he never calls him ugly somehow. he even thanks him for having put up with him for so long and serving him well when the world is about to end. and then he clings unto him because he's scared of dying alone. his way of showing affection is not the "im crying because i think you're in danger" type of way that escargoon shows a lot but it's there.
Of course i don't think they're perfect gay rep. that's literally so stupid. you think im gonna look at two dumbasses who are bitter towards one another from what, a parodic, satirical children's anime from the early 2000s, and go "hmm yes this is what every queer couple should aspire to be this is peak lgbt rep"
If we're gonna talk about them how about we talk about some issues this show has that no one ever addresses. the colorism of the uv episode that is not put into question, not even by tiff, the moral compass. the rising sun imagery that is very much intentional as dedede is a caricature. the fatphobia? the fact kirby calls kawasaki and nagoya homos??? straight up???
people often blame episode 88, and yeah, it's not my favorite episode either. everyone's weird in that episode, not just dedede! yabui is far from empathetic, even the ebrums are disrespectful, and escargoon taunts dedede into chasing him for laughs and teases him about his old age. even at the end he teases him. i think it's one of those episodes that you just have to blame on the writers kinda like 89 (for example this one has got the right message but the execution is painful to watch. poor tiff.)
now, if 88 had changed their relationship it'd be a different matter. there are some sweet moments they share outside of their general "partners in crime" dynamic past episode 88 in my post actually! my favorite is the one where dedede has his arm around escargoon who's curled up like a cat while they're sleeping and the waddle dees are tucking them in from episode 91. it makes me so happy.
i could probably talk so, so much more about them. they're a huge comfort to me. however i don't trust just anyone with them. i am very much aware some people like them for the wrong reasons. but if you have a brain you can see where i'm coming from.
the show makes fun of them because they're evil, self-centered cowards. not because they're "gay" or anything like that. i saw someone call them queerbait one time and i had to log off for a minute.
anyway, to answer your question, people who do not recognize their genuine attachment to one another are bound to have a twisted view of them. i don't like dedegoon because they're "toxic" or awful to each other. but because they're each other's best friends. that's all. it's fine if you don't ship them, too. i just hope i can prove to people that they do matter to each other and that they're friends :)
#ask#yes i made sure to include other images than the ones already in my comp im doing a great job in dedegoon#there are so many things i didnt include there#everytime i think of them i remember something new#i also want to point out that i rewatch the show regularly. im on my... uh.. 7th proper rewatch? with my boyfriend#so. if anyone accuses me of fandomifying this show they chose the wrong person#also they say aishiteru 3 times atp idk what to tell you

First off, you have some *really* inaccurate ideas of what ASPD is. Do you think we can survive in the world acting like you expect me to act? Far more often, pwASPD appear detached and callous rather than actively hostile the way you're saying. We aren't 12 year old kids on Xbox Live voice chat, * s p o o k y voice* we are all around you. You wouldn't be able to pick most of us out of a crowd, even if you had direct interaction with us. In fact, a running joke here and in my real life is that people often tell pwASPD "don't worry, I can sniff out a s*ciop*th a mile away" or similar not realizing they're talking shit about us to our face.
There *are* pwASPD who are still entirely valid who act the way you're saying - and also plenty of prosocials who behave like that too. But it isn't all of us, all the time. Most of us are capable of and maybe even prefer to be cool, calm, and calculated about how we speak and act because of the trauma we have.
Unlike people on TV like Dr. House, there are real life consequences to the behavior you describe, and many of us strive not to be happy, but for life to be as convenient as possible. Kinda hard to get convenience while you're pissing everyone off. Ever heard the part of ASPD where they mention we are manipulative and charismatic? Yeah that isn't exactly compatible with being crass, careless, pranking, or offensive. Careless actually specifically bothers me because we are often said to "play a social chess game" with people we talk to. Many of us are extremely calculating and overly cautious. And many of us aren't, but it certainly isn't like you're saying all the time. Even pwASPD who *do* act like that usually are calm and "respectful" sometimes.
Also, I never claimed to be unmasked on this blog. Most of the time, I am absolutely masking to some degree - although much less than IRL. You can actually see that in the tags, I use "a rare unmasked aspd-culture" as a joke about this fact. Whilst this is a safe place for other pwASPD to unmask if they'd like, my posts on this blog are different. My side of this is helping educate people - prosocial, antisocial, whoever - if/when they have questions for me about ASPD which is fairly frequent. This isn't to say I am not ok with unmasking here, like I said it's happened before, but consider the context of what's happening.
I'm often asked genuine questions about ASPD, some of which are ableist (almost always on accident!) and many of which are based on extremely common misconceptions. If I were to unmask while answering those, I would end up being really shitty to people who are trying to learn - often people who want to do better for the pwASPD in their life, or for themselves. We talk about coping mechanisms and the development of ASPD a lot here; with those topics there is little room for my unmasked behavior *and* education. If I were to unmask while answering, no one would be getting anything out of asking those questions even if I was providing info because it's hard to take in new information from someone when they're being defensive or hostile.
I don't want to be hostile towards them, I want to help because if ASPD is ever going to be destigmatized, someone has got to answer their questions and help show them what it is and what it isn't! We can't expect prosocials to fend for themselves in the cesspool of stigma that the typical google results on ASPD show - someone has to help them. And since one of my special interests (something autistic ppl like myself have and love to infodump about) is mental health, especially my own disorders, I am happy to be one of the people they can ask these sometimes tough questions to.
I am also helping pwASPD! Many questions I get are people trying to understand their own disorder or the disorder they think they might have. It sucked for me, learning this all on my own (and I'm still learning too), so I can use the cognitive empathy I've taught myself over the years and remember the feelings I went through when I was trying to find unbiased info.
There's a transaction here - a major part of ASPD if you didn't know - I calmly and respectfully answer people's questions, and the world becomes slightly less ignorant and we get a slight amount of progress on destigmatizing this disorder. That makes my life easier too. In the process, I see many culture asks that remind me I'm not alone in this. Often, posting those gives me some catharsis, and you will sometimes see me going off in the tags about what I've dealt with. But for the most part, I'm giving other pwASPD an open space to unmask as well as to ask questions to someone who will, 95% of the time, give a masked and respectful answer. Friendly is a stretch tho lol unless you missed the original post about the syscourse that you commented this on.
So yeah, long and short, you're definitely missing something here and that's ok. Just learn and do better. I know you might see that as another thing that is flying in the face of ASPD or whatever, but it's no skin off my back if you think I have ASPD or not, and anyway I'd rather you just learn and maybe next time someone says something like that to/around you about ASPD, you'll have the knowledge to correct it. Spreading info is an exponential situation - once I tell you guys things, some of you will inevitably tell someone else that, and so on and so forth until a good handful of people now know things about ASPD they didn't before. If not, oh well. I got to infodump and see relatable posts that made me feel seen.
Either way, it's been, and hopefully will continue to be, a net positive. You are absolutely welcome to keep this dialogue going if you have questions, want clarification, are enraged that I gave you a calm response, whichever. Even if you don't get anything out of this, someone else seeing it might.
I'll really fuck with you now - I genuinely hope you have a good day.

Maybe I'm wrong and it's just a perception, and also I'm not trying to absolve the fandom from racism, but how do you explain that Armand is totally accepted (I mean I'm happy for him) but I noticed recently that he's a big fan favorite despite having had his race changed.
I don't see him being stereotyped by the fandom because of his race.
So if the fandom is so racist why is Assad so loved ? They changed their beloved ginger and I've never seen anyone cry about it,just love.
Once again I don't wish him to receive racist treatment i have just noticed.
I even think he Overtaken Lestat (for the now in s2 because I think his fans are just asleep waiting for Lestat season)
Sorry if my ask seems like an hater i'm just trying to make some logical.I know fandom can be ugly for POC especially after racebending but if I'm not wrong Armand is a big fan favorite in the books and his show version too his ethnicity didn't change anything.I'm not saying Claudia and Louis deserve their treatment inside fandom, just sometimes i'm wondering if they had been white wouldn't it be the same ?
There's layers to what's going on with Armand. I just answered this ask ahead of this one, which says the opposite of this, but both of u are technically "correct" in what ur seeing.
Also, before I get too deep into this, just to mention that when the Armand reveal happened in S1, the racism was off the fucking CHARTS here.
Anyway, Armand *is* treated differently from book to show but it's not in the same way that the characters who are black are treated. Taken from this ask
"armand has his own history and is a brown man, but he’s a man who does have privilege in ways over louis and is shown abusing him with it too. it doesn’t mean his history is erased. but the fandom will defend (white) lestat first, then (brown) armand second, and….never really defend louis (or claudia)…..despite them being the only ones we’ve seen abused on screen so far. so it’s not rly about pitting anyone against each other as it is acknowledging who has the privilege across all these spaces and knowing why that is too."
Essentially what ur seeing is more acceptance for a non black person of color but who still isn't receiving the same treatment that the white character is getting when it comes to exploring his motivations and his backstory. Like I said in the first linked ask, ppl "accept" Armand and say "we love our evil gremlin" but Lestat is the one getting deep metas over God knows what, shit ppl just make up at this point. Armand isn't getting the same treatment for the show version.
I'm not saying Claudia and Louis deserve their treatment inside fandom, just sometimes i'm wondering if they had been white wouldn't it be the same ?
I think this is saying if Louis and Claudia were white in the show, wouldn't the fan reactions be the same? And the answer is no, not at all. They're *drastically* different and it's solely bcuz they're black now. For example, Louis' anger was never treated as "a problem" until he was black. Claudia was never called "manipulative" or "too old" until she was black. The actress who played her in the Lestat play was 19 or something too. That plot follows the series p closely for Claudia's involvement with the coven as well, but nobody ever spoke negatively about that actress or character for any reason. They were rly never judged for anything when it was all white ppl (except for Louis being sad and whiny a lot).

saw your post abt rapunzel manipulating tim in their convo and god hard agree it Is concerning that so many ppl didn't see it. also crazy to me that ppl are mad at tim and defending rapunzel, saying that they would have taken the book too because tim was being rude etc. to me it seemed that both tim the character and ally the player Wanted to believe that rapunzel wasn't part of the plan and was good but just kind of strange, and both are successfully fooled. tim absolutely fumbles the interaction and ally could have played things better, but rapunzel was so clearly in charge of the conversation, leading him into saying worse and worse things and putting his foot in his mouth while tim was genuinely trying to be nice. tim is awkward and blunt and eccentric with Everyone, it's weird that ppl are saying he was being singularly rude to her or patronizing her or that he deserved to get the book taken. that interaction was clumsy as hell and so many words could have been chosen better but tim so clearly was trying so hard to fix his initial fuck up and be friendly w her in the same weird way he talks to everyone. I don't see how ppl came out of that scene on her side even if tim was a little rude and unfortunate w his word choice, and it's concerning to see ppl being like "ha take that stupid old man!!" abt the book being taken + in defense of a character we met an episode and a half ago and who we have been told outright is an expert at deceiving people. the princesses are so so interesting as characters and the morals going on are complex and that's a whole different conversation, but I feel like no matter whether you love rapunzel or not, ppl should be able to recognize that she was manipulating tim in that moment and taking advantage of his trusting disposition. not trying to start discourse in your ask box ofc!!! I've just seen No One Else express discomfort w rapunzel in that scene
anon this ask has been living in my head rent free since you sent it, i've been stewing over how to respond because y e s. for context, check out this post to save discourse on main (this is about to be a long one of fan critic analysis, get your popcorn and settle in if you wanna read, this is the longest post i've ever made), im gonna put my thoughts and response under a read more, sososo many spoilers under the cut read at your own risk
These were all in the replies and tags and I want to reply to all of them bc they're all worthy of being talked about bc i feel like the majority of the fandom is almost scared to critique?? So like let's talk about it since nobody else seems to be taking this approach from what I can tell (thank you to you anon for being on my side as well as the rest of you who are screaming with me) I will begin by saying that my original post is not critiquing ally the player, or any of the other players. i understand that they were in that dome, filming a session of dungeons and dragons, and improv acting and roleplaying for many hours on end with back to back episodes. i kind of get ally and the rest of the table maybe just wanting to "hope for the best", especially ally as they are quite a "hope for the good in others" type of person. it's frustrating from a viewer perspective sure, but i totally dont blame anyone ever for making a "wrong" or "non-optimal" choice while playing a ttrpg, they just have the misfortune of being filmed while doing so. i myself have made tons of bag fumbles while playing dnd, even when i thought everything through ten times over. so anything i have said or will say forward isn't to put any shouldering on to the people playing these silly storybook characters, like, i Get It
What i do want to critique is the fan response, which is the more worrying one!!! like i said in my original post, i was surprised by my d20 watch buddy having a similar response to ally. the total "oh, maybe she's just quirky bc of the self isolation, maybe she's autism rep" approach. my friend, love her to death, is also one of those "sees the best in others and hope everyone is always aiming to be their best selves" type of person, very similar to ally. i came online after that episode expecting everybody on the fanbase level to be screaming with me in a "i told you so!!" way
instead. i came online and saw people just on the attack and the defense in absolutely skewed ways!! out of NOWHERE, all these fans have come on to post about how "tim was patronizing her, and thats why she stole the book" "wow i would have hated being called girly and honey as well" "wow these conversations really didnt go their way why was tim so mean to her :(" or the opposite of "rapunzel is the evilest person to ever exist bc xyz these princesses are evil villains" or "we need to protect these princesses bc they just didnt know any better uwu"
i feel like, on a fan level, me and you anon (+all these lovely folks in the notes of that post) were the only ones screaming "hold on, that is literally not the same media i just watched"
i've seen before a lot of people be like "wow, media literacy is at an all time low" and i never really understood that until i saw the reactions after that episode. as a fan or viewer watching any media, we have the privilege of seeing more about the media than the people who are creating it. that's the best joy of being a viewer, we get to sit back and spot those foreshadowing moments and bite our nails in suspense when the music goes creepy and see the artwork and overall, we have the privilege of catching vibes that maybe those acting in it do not. this leads to those bonding moments of "i told you so" "wow im biting my nails and pacing" "oh they're gonna REGRET that". and, an "oh my god no no no do not hug her she wants to take your book god now she's feeling you up with her hair she's looking for the book ROLL INITIATIVE!!!!". it leads to glorious moments of ~dramatic irony~, a literary term for literally when something is happening in a story and the readers can catch it, but the protagonist probably didnt bc they're not seeing the full picture. While watching, from my perspective, yeah it was frustrating to watch the player bag fumble turn after turn, but it's a game of dnd, they film so many back to back, they don't get the same experience as us. however.
brennan did a great job at dropping the foreshadowing, to the point of not even so much subtly foreshadowing, he DIRECTLY TOLD THEM rapunzel was a liar and uses her words as knives. like someone pointed out, the players even PAID for that information, with the golden bridle. by the time they met these princesses, they probably knew the most about rapunzel's true nature over all the other princesses, that she uses her charisma to her advantage. the players made their choice to do the diplomatic route, to split up and chat. ally did the right thing for picking rapunzel with tim's 19 charisma stat, it would have been charisma against charisma, and an even playing field for someone they have been explicitly told is a master of words and deceit.
as fans, we've seen these episodes edited and put back to back. clues are lined up in a row. was it frustrating to see ally playing tim in a naïve way? sure. but tim's been pretty naïve this whole time, so you could stack it up to a character choice. what's more frustrating is seeing the responses of viewers being blindsided by the book thieving and chalking it all up to "evil vs good" and rapunzel's choice shaking them to their cores.
by this point in the story, by the time you get to that episode, rapunzel already gave enough bad vibes with the talk of her charismatic deceits and with her hair everywhere spying on them. maybe that last one wasn't explicitly stated, but it was heavily implied to the point of gerard writing the plans on a note instead of wanting them said out loud by elody, a scene that happened way before tim's. by the time we see rapunzel get to the kitchen, she is INSTANTLY catty. someone described her on the post as "eldritch regina george" and. yes. exactly. eldritch regina george. from our privileged spot as a viewer, rapunzel comes in, puts on the fake smile, puts on her fake tone, and says "what are you doing in here? :)". she was already ready to fight timothy. that first sentence was hostile. she was OFFENDED and checking on tim to make sure mother goose wasn't counter-spying. i honestly didnt think that would have to have been explicitly stated, she was in attack mode and plastered the fake smile for a show so that she had the upperhand in the conversation that was about to happen. this is something that fans should have at least caught on to right off the bat, we've been explicitly told that she is fake more than she is honest for the sake of being a "performative person"
the conversation happens, and she starts becoming more verbally hostile. "i dont know, what SHOULD we do hehe. it's ruined now :)" "no use in crying over spilt milk *pours milk with hair on the floor with a smile* oh no :)" "...or if it was on purpose :/ :)" "why dont you go get a mop :)" "i chose to be charming :)"
every sentence she replied with was carefully chosen. as viewers, we can watch brennan's face in full clarity of intimidation. we can have the knowledge that has been provided to not trust rapunzel as she is a charismatic spy who has words for knives. in my opinion, even without those clues before now, her show that she put on in the kitchen should have been enough as is to show that she is acting maliciously and with hostility. the smile is there as to not incite physical violence on tim's part bc then it would make TIM look like the bad guy if he attacked first. by the time she goes in for the hug. im sorry. but ally the player should have caught that, the whole table should have caught that, and-more importantly-the fans should have caught that. we all watched the same thing. we have all been told the same information. to purposefully ignore all of the red flags just to pull a "well tim was kind of mean and patronizing, and rapunzel doesnt have social skills from being locked in a tower, i forgive her, wow i didnt see that coming" is absolutely *batshit*
the lack of people catching on is what concerns me. i've met TONS of people growing up (sorry here, im all for women's wrongs, but mainly cis-girls tbh) who act like rapunzel does. from middle school and high school bullies/mean girls. mean girls at college. from parents or teachers or bosses. from normal adults in my life. they always have the same tone and inflections in the same places. the same faces with the wrinkled nose. the same sickly sweet smile. brennan played rapunzel, a known manipulator, perfectly. to a T. he embodied it fully. people JUST LIKE RAPUNZEL walk amongst us every day. i can guarantee you that even these fans that didnt catch it have met people like rapunzel in their own lives.
rapunzel is a character yes, but she is a character that mimics a masterclass manipulator. she IS the mean girl, the regina george. it leaked out of her every word, tone, and inflection. every single thing told about her and shown was, in no world, some "uwu the sweet bean was locked in a tower and doesnt have social skills". that was her origin, her start point. just like sleeping beauty locked in a castle, snow locked in her coffin. rapunzel directly says "i chose to be charming. :)." she had her origin of no social skills, her sad origin of being locked in isolation in her tower, and said "this is my greatest flaw, so i am going to dedicate my life to improving this skill bc it's what stopping me from achieving my goals." she trained her social skills to be good. too good. so good that she hopes nobody will catch her sweet charming self in the act of malicious intentions. this. was. directly. stated.
it worries me on a psychological level of the fans. yes it shows a lack of media literacy, something is frustrating on a fan-to-fan level. it shows a lack of ability of critical thinking. it shows a lack of ability to participate in dramatic irony, a necessary literary device to instill tension into a horror campaign. but also, and to what is probably my main point in this novel long hot take: it has real world implications. mean girls like rapunzel are a guarantee in life. i'm sorry, but it's true. maybe the person acts differently, maybe they aren't as obvious or more obvious. but these people walk amongst us. they use the same tone and same cadence to their words. these manipulators see what they want, and devise a way to convince the person into giving them what they want. rapunzel did not use the Charm Person spell, or the Friendship spell. She used. her words. like a normal human being. and by doing so, we as the fans were able to catch on and should have had a moment of "RUN GOOSE, RUN AWAY, NO DONT LET HER HUG YOU". but instead, a lot of people turn a blind eye to these manipulators in their lives. they pull a "aw but they have a tragic backstory, they're just confused and need love :/" "they cant be THAT bad..." they see a sweet little smile on the face and an upticked tone of voice, and go "well, they're playing nice, so now i have to play nice bc otherwise im the bad guy here" which!!! you do not!!
this is exactly how manipulators worm their ways in, this is what ALLOWS manipulation to work in its various forms. it's how people get trapped in abusive relationships. it's how people get scammed. on a personal end, i lived a narcissistic manipulator for a long time growing up, and it was exhausting. once you could put down the rose colored glasses and see right through the act, you notice how every inch of their mannerisms are performative. everything they say and do comes with the caveat of them wanting something from you and are trying to butter you up in the meantime. if you catch and call onto it, they IMMEDIATELY turn on you, they sneer and retreat to their next target who it will fool. the cycle continues, the next target is selected.
on a fan level, if we as fans cannot play into dramatic irony as a practice, if we cannot exit our seats of mind to catch on to those "eldritch regina george" quirks at the bud in a piece of fictional media where the puzzle has been handed on a silver platter, then there is a l o t more work to be done on 1) general media literacy 2) ANY fandom perception on media and 3) general awareness of how to spot and deal with manipulators in real life. if you can't catch on to it in a silly fictional ttrpg media, how do you expect to catch on to it in real life? how many of these same fans are trapped in manipulative relationships around them? how many more will they fall for bc of the "oh no but they have tragic backstory so it's forgiven uwu"? as fans, you cant sit there in the same breath saying that tim was condescending to rapunzel and then follow it up with not noticing what was ACTUALLY happening in real time. if you wanna say that rapunzel was ALLOWED to be a manipulator because of her origin, what other manipulators are you defending in your real life? how many of these manipulators continue their tricks BECAUSE they know naïve people exist and will fall for it? how many have been enabled in the same cycle bc it worked on one so it'll work on the next?
i wish i had a fun way to conclude this absolutely massive chunk of fandom critique gibberish, but i just dont. i wish i could find a more comprehensive way to scream about this, so take this post as me SCREAMING about this, anon my dm's are open if we wanna rant some more
#i havent entered fandom discourse in awhile in ANY fandom but this one has been bothering me so fucking much#tldr anon my messages are open if you wanna scream with me some more#anon#ask#neevrafter spoilers#neverafter#d20#dimension 20#d20 spoilers

you're literally so real and based about the misogyny in the onceler fandom like none of the plot would've happened without audrey or norma (although i am a bit biased when it comes to norma cause she's my fave), and mrs wiggins helped A LOT and everyone just ignored them. also the vitriolic hatred towards the onceler's mom (yeah she sucked but still) is kinda weird where is that treatment towards the rest of his family
thank u dear anon 🙏
I posted my post out on a whim from my drafts but lemme elaborate - the lorax/onceler fandom is incredibly misogynistic. from the fact that ppl make fun of younger often girls having fun and being attracted to Once-ler. I was also a young girl when I first joined this fandom and I could completely feel the mockery over the years. all bc I dared to have fun abt one of my fave characters. and over the years I feel like the nature had become even more so hostile against fans, esp abt women who just join
my another glaring issue is with the fact that this fandom completely overlooks female characters. as u've said, the plot wouldn't have happened without Audrey and Norma. and when u join the fandom discussions u see ppl complaining abt how thinly they are written, the fandom does nothing to expand on them
I'll start with Norma bc she's my absolute fave too - u can barely find anything with her these days. yes I love Normaler but it doesn't have to be all there is to her. if u don't like Normaler, why can't u make Norma be Once-ler's friend? why aren't u exploring her life as a young woman, single mother and then a kind and upbeat old woman? why can't u pick up the pieces in canon abt her spunky but lighthearted nature, love for stories, enigmatic but understanding personality, nostalgia towards different times but still living in the moment, even affection towards things as gentle as nature and as extreme as sports? she fckin drives a crane all by herself! Norma is such a fantastic character to explore but this fandom just doesn't want to. and then when ppl DO explore her character it's dismissed as a self-insert fantasy for girls. even if so, so what? are we circling back to hating young girls for having interests?
Audrey is a similar case. she's either used as a mouthpiece, side piece for Ted or fucking shipped with an adult. why don't u explore her life beside this? why won't u talk abt her being an artist, softspoken dreamer and an introverted character who has to make choices? I love when ppl make her more active but she can also be passive, not everyone has to be an adventurer. and if u make her active, she could make a fantastic protag. all I'm saying is, do better
I'd argue the story of The Lorax also couldn't have happened if it wasn't for Mrs. Wiggins. she's such a fun character too, lovable and sweet and energetic, but also no nonsense and stands up for what she believes in? when I read this ask to my bestie they looked at me and said "Mrs. Wiggins has more personality than Ted" and I AGREE. she deserves more spotlight as a single woman who tries her hardest and balances her life all around. she's so so good
as for Once-ler's mother, she is a total bitch but like........so is his whole family. yes, she's the abuser but everyone else enables her abuse so they're also guilty. like fuck them. I do totally get hatred for Once-ler's mother but she's also a pretty good antagonist. her manipulative behavior and mood swings are very well written in a realistic way. why can't we even say that a woman is a good antagonist? besides, she can also have her past (which does not excuse the abuse ofc, just makes her a deeper character). I see a lot of potential and it's just wasted a millionth time
can I also say that female OCs in this fandom are super scarce? I remember there were a lot of times when fem!Once-ler blogs got deactivated bc they were relentlessly bullied. all for the sake of shipping two mildly different flavors of the same guy. and u don't have to make them side pieces to ur Once-lers. women deserve their own stories to tell. when I was developing my Lorax OC Felicia, her relationship with Once-ler was the last thing I thought of
anyways, it's a total tangent at this point but I wanted this to be an ode to female characters of the lorax/onceler fandom. they deserve their stories and they deserve to be treated with respect. do better
#ask#onceler#the lorax#norma wiggins#audtree#mrs wiggins#onceler's mom#all this bc I couldn't test out my walkman with my new cassette bc I forgot batteries lol#anyways I've been thinking abt this for a long time and I'm glad I could say it out

gakuto oshiro. cis man. he/him. bisexual. ⇝ hey, isn’t that hirokazu 'kaz' amuro ? i think that the forty-six year old from okinawa, japan works as a city council member & owner of dracula's coffin club, but outside of that people describe them as shelves of leatherbound books, artworks hanging in gilded frames, expensive vintage wines in their rack and not a thing out of place; a dark room illuminated only by the flicker of candlelight; an old photo album, full of snaps from a disposable camera, hidden away in the back of a forgotten closet; crisp suits, expensive jewellery, an image so perfectly designed as to be uncanny; strong posture, total control of the room, a gaze sharp enough to dissuade any arguments . i hear they are manipulative & a control freak, but they are also known to be sentimental & artistic . consider giving them a visit at their home in the winterwood estates and get to know why they’re called the tormented.
IMPORTANT LINKS: will be added when they're ready!
TW: emotional neglect in childhood, disappearance/death of a loved one??
just to make my intentions with this character very clear before we get any further, this guy SUCKS. he's meant to be somewhat antagonistic and just all-round not that great a guy. sure, he probably has his redeeming features & he was a decent person at some point but :) time changes ppl, i guess! i feel like he's probably pretty amicable and decent on the surface but he's also very two-faced so it's like...Be Careful <3 also, i have no particular want to plot any active ships for this character. this isn't because of a lack of interest on his part, it's just because i don't necessarily want to write, or think it's appropriate to rp, what would definitely be a very toxic relationship! also he's definitely still in love with a person who's been missing for twenty years so there's also that. anyway, that's my little note done. read away! also! unlike most of my other muses (except ash), this is a new character i'm writing just for anchorage so please keep in mind a lot of stuff is generally subject to change. i'm going to try and work out the kinks as i go but this intro might not stay 100% totally accurate.
BASICS.
His full name is Hirokazu Amuro (安室洋一) but he started going by Kaz for short once he moved to the States in his late teens. It just kind of stuck. I imagine his nickname growing up would have been 'Hiro'.
Kaz was born in Okinawa City, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan and is of direct Okinawan descent. Kaz may describe himself as Japanese for simplicity's sake but he considers himself Okinawan first & Japanese second. (Okinawans/Ryukyuans are an unrecognised ethnic minority in Japan & are ethnically/culturally distinct from the mainland Japanese majority BUT that's all I'll say on the matter bc this is a topic on which I am not qualified to speak & that presumably requires far more nuance than should be squeezed into an rp intro hehe)
He speaks Japanese (standard & Okinawan dialects) and English fluently, and he knows a little Uchinaaguchi. I imagine he knows some other languages too, I just haven't settled on that. I think he's very interested in cultures and language.
As a council member, he dedicates a lot of his attention to the Arts sector, having taken it upon himself to oversee the relevant funding and the like. He's very invested in the arts and considers it a matter of great personal interest. Kaz is also a known patron/doner of the Hanging Arts Gallery and paid out of his own pocket to financially support certain productions of the Single Carrot Theatre, especially due to his history with the venue. This has given him a reputation for being philanthropic but it largely comes from a place of self-interest and satisfying his own wants and needs.
Similarly, he's donated money to publications such as the Anchorage Daily Diem under the guise of support but the reality is that he has built up a good rapport with news outlets so as to give him more control over how he's portrayed in the media. Money speaks. And money can make sure that you don't speak.
This is a recurring issue, for the record. He very much needs to be in control of things. He's not especially power-hungry, and is quite content to sit back and let things play out without him lifting a finger, but he likes to be the one putting pawns in their places to ensure things go his way. Obviously, his success here will vary but, again, this is just how he likes things to be.
All this to say, he's kind of a known eccentric, hence his ownership of the Coffin Club. What can I say? He likes spooky shit. On top of that, the way he presents himself in public is so particular and perfect and poised that it's a little uncanny. I think he probably comes off a little unsettling.
I imagine he might clash with his fellow council members at times because he prefers to speak directly and he's kind of condescending, especially if he disagrees with you on something. He holds grudges too and is the type to start playing Devil's Advocate just to rile someone up because he happens to dislike them. He also doesn't have much issue just insulting people SO UH....
He likes screwing with people. I really picture him as the type of guy to pour a glass of red wine over someone's head in order to humiliate and belittle them.
Insufferable rich man.
CHILDHOOD
Hirokazu was born, on 13th October 1978, as the second of two children, the only son, of a wealthy family. His father was in business, as his father had been before him, and his mother was a homemaker who had also come from a wealthy background. It was tolerant but largely loveless marriage, the couple having come together at the behest of their respective families (who had been primarily concerned with what the union might do for their collective reputations). It is hard to say that the Amuro children grew up surrounded by much warmth but they were comfortable.
The expectations placed on the two Amuro children were high, particularly for Hirokazu who had been deigned the obvious sucessor to his father's work. They were raised in a strict home where studying well to impress the parents was the be-all-and-end-all. They had strict curfews and were forbidden from the sort of hobbies their parents considered frivolous and a waste of time. If the children weren't working to improve themselves for future job prospects, they were wasting time.
Fortunately for Hirokazu, he was a clever and studious child and never struggled much in this regard. He was also a voracious reader and, to his good luck, this was considered an acceptable hobby. He was known to spend hours at the library down the road from his family home. It was just about the only source of entertainment to which he had easy access.
In his early teen years, he grew irritated with this constrictive lifestyle, of only doing and reading and even thinking this that had been approved of by his family. The first step in breaking free was a very, very small one indeed: he deliberately hunted out the pulpiest, schlockiest book he could find in the entire library, a beaten-up and dog-eared old copy of some horror anthology, and found himself hooked. The entire genre was such a far cry from the world in which he lived, full of freaks and weirdos and people who obeyed none of the rules. This led to him reading more and more horror, and then to him sneaking away to the local arthouse cinema where they'd show strange and splattery flicks imported all the way from places like Italy. Here, he learned that he didn't really want to follow in his father's footsteps. Business bored him but art fascinated him.
In his first year of high school, at the age of sixteen, Hirokazu took it upon himself to form and appoint himself leader of the school's new Horror Literature Club. The membership was small but the attendance was strong. (It should be of note that the small attendance was also what justified his position as leader, despite being a first year.) This was also Hirokazu's very first taste of leadership. He'd never been an outgoing child and was usually left alone by other children but he found that, suddenly, people listened when they believed he was important. This stint lasted until halfway through his second year of high school, at which point his father found out what he'd been doing and forced him to withdraw from the club altogether.
The new opening in his schedule would be filled with more studying. After all, he needed to get into a good uni if he wanted to maintain any respect in this family and his father wasn't just going to pay his children's way. If they couldn't earn their education on their own merits, they were no children of his. And, so, Hirokazu studied and studied until he secured himself a spot at a top university in Tokyo, studying Business (a decision made for him by his family). Because his sister had also gotten into a good women's university in the city a couple years prior, the family left the tropical climate of Okinawa behind and moved to Tokyo.
EARLY ADULT YEARS
Two years into his time at Uni, at the age of nineteen, he was offered the chance to take part in an exchange program that would send him to New York for a year. Eager, if not desperate, to get away from his parents, Hirokazu jumped at the opportunity. His father considered it a good chance for Hirokazu to branch out and network and so he approved it. Along with a good friend from Tokyo, Hirokazu made the move and immediately set to work on forging his own path, living his own for the very first time.
His actual education was of minor concern and Hirokazu immediately threw himself into the nightlife. He found himself at home in more alternative groups and more artistic spaces, even beginning to dabble in poetry himself. He surrounded himself bands and poets and artists, adopted the name Kaz and stayed out all night shoving fuck know what kind of substances into his body. He'd become a free sprit; the idea of rebellion had long since crossed his mind, so far had he come from those repressive beginnings.
And, then, he met them. They were just another member of Kaz's wider circle but, from the moment he laid eyes on them, he was infatuated. They would often break free from the rest of their circle in the wee hours of the morning to steal away private moments. At age twenty, Kaz had fallen in love for the first time and he fallen quite hard.
It was 1999 now and the two had been officially dating for quite some time. Kaz had made the decision to remain in New York and finish out his education there, having graduated that very year. He ignored his father's demands that he move back home and take up a position working alongside him. His partner mentioned wanting to up north somewhere for New Year's Eve, in the hopes of seeing the Northern Lights as the new millenium rolled in and, so, Kaz surprised them with a two week trip up to Anchorage.
During this trip, the two grew very fond of the strange town and decided to take root there, having found themselves feeling otherwise lost in life after graduating. Thanks to Kaz's wealthy background, they were able to buy a home in Delilah's Gated Den without any trouble. Kaz took up a job handling the finances for the Single Carrot theatre, believing it to be the ideal way to pursue his love of the arts while still making good use of his business degree.
In 2004, when Kaz was twenty-five, their partner disappeared. Another statistic in Anchorage's endless list of missing people. The news hit Kaz like a ton of bricks, his reality seeming to chip and crack around him. He was forced to watch, helpless, as those in charge seemed to do nothing, not a finger lifted for any casuality in the town. Unable to let go of his missing loved one and determined to prove that they were still out there, Kaz left his position at the theatre behind after five years of work and moved into local government. He would work his way up the ranks and find the answers he was after.
ADULT YEARS
After years of hard work, such hard work that it had bordered on obsession, Kaz had become a member of the Anchorage City Council. He was on top and he had access to everything he needed. That was when he learned about the Miroir, and that was when he had learned about their miroir. The cracks that had formed all those years ago splintered beyond repair. Shattering. The vague hopes onto which he had clung for so long twisted and contorted into something like rage and resentment. The journey he had taken to get to this point had already changed him for the worse, the years spent following only one trail blinding him to anything that did not serve his own interests, but this would only push him over the edge.
Separately from this, somewhere along the line he took it upon himself to start a small business of his own: Dracula's Coffin Club. Of course, his love of horror was never forgotten and this little shop is a testament to that. He's often too busy to do any work in the shop itself but it's sort of a little passion project for him. He still likes to write poetry in his own time too but that's a very private business. (SORRY THIS IS SUCH A SHIFT IN TONE LMAOO I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO PUT IT </3)
As for his family, they fell out with him during his Single Carrot years but, having caught wind of his successes in local government, they eventually changed their tune. Kaz was understandably not impressed with this but has tried to stay in their good books out of a desire to remain on his father's will. (His belief is that he deserves to be compensated for having this man as a father.) His sister has since taken his place as their father's successor, having proven herself a perfectly capable businesswoman, and has a family of her own whereas his mother has had some success in launching her own jewellery business. Kaz does not take any interest in their affairs.

Hi, Maxley anon here. You don't have to reply to this, I just wanted to apologize if I came across as overly agressive in my old ask, I didn't mean to bring "drama" or negativity to this blog. It was late at night and I felt like venting lol, but it's all good, you don't have to apologize for your opinion. What I meant when I said that for the ship to work you'd have to turn Bradley into a different character, I meant that, as you said, he'd have to grow as a person which in canon he shows no signs of doing. Since he's pretty much shown to have only VERY negative traits in the movie, if you remove those you're left with...very little. I have no idea who Bradley is without his cheating, violence, snobbishness or manipulativeness. I also think that what he did is closer to attempted murder than bullying so it's harder for me to forgive him and as a consequence, to imagine my favorite characters doing the same. Ofc ppl can give him a redeemed personality, but that to me edges a bit too close to oc territory (which again, perfectly fine, just not smth I'm interested in, at least with Bradley). There are some aspects I like about Max and Bradley dynamic tho, like the fact that they're both schemers and prideful (which is something Yax shares as well). I'd have a lot more to say but I don't want this to turn into an essay lmao. I'm not sending this to have a debate or change your mind, just wanted to clarify my pov :) Have a nice day <3
You didn't at all, it's ok! It didn't feel like drama to me, and to be fair I DO feel the same and put those tags on that old post for a reason, if you have more to say and would like to, you're welcome to dm me about it! I just get anxious about hurting people's feelings over a ship

dragon age is a series of games(and one show) that takes place in a medieval/renaissance age.
(this is missing A Lot but reading Nobody Expects The Shinobi Inquisition doesnt require most of this knowledge as it expects that some ppl dont know dragon age.)
MAGIC AND MAGIC PEOPLES
they have magic, which works by having the real world and the spirit world(called the fade) which are separated by the Veil. Mages are individuals who can manipulate the fade to cast magic.
in the fade, there are spirits which typically embody an emotion or idea, such as compassion or wisdom. there are also demons, which are basically twisted spirits, wisdom becomes pride, compassion becomes despair, etc. demons can possess mages and they're called abominations and are a bad thing. the fades like. a whole place and stuff. sometimes when mages dream they actually go to the fade where spirits and demons can talk to them. this is how some get possessed
Due to the risk of possession (and other reasons to be expanded upon) mages used to be confined to "circles" which basically restrict them and teach them according to what is considered acceptable. templars(expanded below) are used to guard and makes sure mages dont do unacceptable things such as escaping. circle mages tend to be sheltered and sometimes were mistreated. the Champion of Kirkwall(from dragon age 2) kinda dissolves the circles so mages are kinda running free and its a whole situation.
templars are kinda like knights who can smite mages so they stop doing magic. this is harmful to mages. they get this power by drinking lyrium, which is magic rock juice(titans blood but shhh) that has a special connection to the fade. lyrium is also addictive to templars. mages can use lyrium to replenish their mana to cast more spells.
there are also Seekers who are basically templars but instead of getting magic through lyrium get it through Hard Work (very challenging initiation thing to get powers) theyre supposed to regulate the templars but kinda fail
there are mages outside of the circles. either apostates(learned by themselves or in a non regulated group) or a dalish elf mage, which is an elf who lives away from the main human kingdoms and they have their own culture.
there are also the tranquil who are mages who were deemed too unruly or whatever and got their connection to the fade severed. this also kills their emotions. they can work with lyrium bc of this. they also are kinda deemed as weird but like. they were kinda lobotomized so
theres also a thing called the Blight which was said to be started bc some mages from trevinter(evil mage country) tried to get to the fade city thing and something happened and they became darkspawn which are kinda evil zombie things. the blight is a sort of corrupting force which is a sickness and problem. there were 5(i think) big Blights where the blight was a big problem where darkspawn were attacking people and there was an Archdemon(blighted dragon things thought to be old gods or smth) and the fifth blight was the problem of dragon age 1
red lyrium(evil lyrium) is blighted lyrium and causes problems.
OK. RACES.
There are 4 main races, the humans, elves, dwarves, and qunari.
humans are humans. they are the dominant race and they oppress elves. idk what to say. i think you know what humans are. the only racism they have is towards non humans, and especially to elves.
elves. there are two main groups. the city elves who basically live in human society, often have jobs as cleaners or servants. they live in elf alienages which i dont quite remember what they are but they live in those and they kinda suck. city elves kinda idealize dalish elves the other kind of elf is a dalish elf. they are nomadic groups with caravans and they have cool fantasy deer instead of horses. they also have facial tattoos as part of their culture(coming of age, and also different tattoos represent different gods and their aspects) they kinda dont like humans and also dont like city elves because they think that they are weak and kinda dumb and also dalish elves are kinda prissy. dalish elves have very rich culture and history which ends up being kinda important. elves in general also are slightly closer to the fade then humans and thus are mages a bit more(there is a reason for this)
dwarves are never mages. they are also the only ones who can work with raw lyrium(which is in rock form. in mines and stuff) which normally causes ppl to go insane or smth. this also means they typically are the ppl who do enchantments. dwarves also loose their lyrium immunity if they are in the sun too much. dwarves in the dwarf city are prissy towards dwarves who aren't.
qunari are big and grey and have horns. most of them are part of an evil group thats evil idk the specifics but most are part of that, but a couple aren't.
RELIGION
there are two important ones. the chantry and the elf one idk whats it called.
the chantry is kinda Christianity and its the religion in human cities. thinks the world was made by The Maker. who is basically the christian god. they think he made the fade first and was like. this sucks. so he made the normal world. because of that and also because of demonic possession they dont like mages. there's a jesus-ish figure who is Andraste, who was said to be the wife of the Maker and was burned at the stake but then basically becomes a saint. (this is kinda relevant) they think the blight was caused by the tevinter mages messing with the throne of the maker in the golden city in the fade (more reasons to hate mages) the pope equivalent is the Divine, who is elected or whatever
the elf religion actually is kinda accurate. so the fade and normal world used to be one. and the elves were the main race and they were kinda crazy powerful. they had really cool cities and stuff. they were ruled by a family of gods which were kinda just elves but with magic god balls(called focuses or foci) which were suuuper powerful. there was another god but kinda not, (loki equivalent kinda) called fen'harel(he is important) who was in service of mythal but then rebelled against the gods (but mythal was secretly supporting him) the face tattoos that the dalish have come from the fact that ancient elves would tattoo themselves in devotion to their chosen god. it also acted as a shock collar for punishment and also there was slavery. something happened and one of the gods Mythal was killed and then fen harel freaked out and decided the best course of action was to seal away the other gods and also split the world into the magic and normal world. which became the fade and normal world. there may also be a third one called the void but idk. then the ancient elves kinda became the dalish but they were much weaker. (this is why elves are closer to the fade) and some got subsumed into human kingdoms. idk how much of this is actually dalish religion but its the actual worldbuilding lol. dalish religion is based on this
COUNTRIES
orleis or whatever: prissy rich place, political, has 'The Game" <- just politics
tevinter is a mage country and theyre kinda shady and evil and they have slavery
ferelden idk what this ones about its just kinda there
other places idk
EVENTS RELEVANT TO THE SETTING OF NOBODY EXPECTS THE SHINOBI INQUISITION
AKA. events that happen during Dragon Age: Inquisition
after the kirkwall thing where mage circles got dissolved and there is tension between mages and templars Divine Justinia tries to organize a conclave to make peace. one of the original tevinter mages that cause the blight uses a old elf god orb to try and merge the fade and world and also kill the divine but [player character] interferes. passes out. stuff happens. you wake, and guess what!!!
everyone else who attended the conclave died. you are the only survivor and you have a glowing mark on your hand, neat! youre being interrogated but you have no fucking clue what the fucking hell happened. turns out theres a hole in the sky that is connected to your hand mark and smaller rifts are also appearing. theyre connected to the fade and demons come out(spirits got pulled in and couldnt adapt and their nature was torn and they became demons) so you fight that and realize you can close rifts. neat. so youre taken to try and seal the Big Sky Hole. you kinda get it to stop expanding but pass out
you wake and are deemed to be the Herald of Andraste by the people but the chantry kinda dont like you. you go on quests to stop rifts and accomplish tasks to help the Inquisition, which is a thing thats established when the world Goes To Shit and needs to be fixed so they make the organization. (its a kinda established thing) and eventally you fix the sky hole and then you find the evil guy who killed the divine so now you're trying to kill him. you become the Inquisitor! yay!
thats most of it i think. i know this through only fanfiction i have consumed none of the actual dragon age franchise. sorry for having it be so long. i missed a lot of stuff.
Ohhhhhhhhh the hand thing!!!! That Shisui gets in the fic!!! I was so confused 🤣
This is AMAZING you have put so much time and thought into this, I'm really touched! Also your cliffnotes were low-key hilarious, I chuckled throughout this - very informative - ask
P.S the seeker thing immediately hit me with "oh god...Rock Lee" 😂
Thank you so much! 🥺❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥

ep18 (1/2): in which wwx manipulates and lies to his friends and family (lovingly)
forgot this. he can just fly around catching birds. no wonder it's so easy to camp
I feel like birthdays really only crop up in american tv in the context of little kids. it's something children do.
xy twirling his hair as he walks away 😭 can your believe ppl still ship them after he murdered SL's entire family
this was such a good change for the show to make bc 1. this introduces the idea of bssr really naturally and 2. it gives wwx another interaction with SL, which is emotionally significant later for both us and the characters
also they need to slip in his backstory and all of its parallels to wx somehow and waiting until yi city is way too late
oh cool I love a t/n
wwx making it a mystical quest bound in ceremony and ritual to prevent jc from suspecting or asking too many questions, and to control his actions. ugh
that post abt jc hero-worshipping wwx continues to baffle me. in fact this is the only time we ever see jc so eager to follow wwx's directions and do what he says
'let her do anything' she is a grown woman she can gather herbs if she wants and what authority do you have to stop her 😭
this smile after he convinces jc about his plan is so haunting. you can see he's sxcited and then the smile fades and he just looks...resigned? fucking misery
yanqing warriors! when wwx mentions jyl leaving soon, wen qing freezes and doesn't say anything for a few seconds. what can it mean hmm?
I don't think jc would have accepted the core if he knew what wwx planned, which is why wwx kept it secret. one of the reasons
this is kind of manipulative no? not in a way to hurt her just to get her to agree with his plan. and maybe he means it too. maybe he would have done with without the debt of the jiangs held over his head. we'll never know
drugging you sister. sir!
I think it's really funny when wwx insults jc sorry I always will. he deserves to at least a little
first shot of wwx looking like a little mousie with his threabare pillow and jc a raging little brat. very similar to the first shot of the show! wwx bleeding and suicidal, and jc stalking over to finish the job. but in that scene and this one, we see there's more to the story
im going to fucking isekai myself into cql universe for the sole purpose of cuddling this child
you know I was so excited for jfm to say that. like go jfm! the haters were wrong about you! you love and protect at least one child under your care!
and then it IMMEDIATELY cuts to wwx hours later freezing because jfm told him 'jc is a good kid' and then he LEFT HIM THERE AND WENT TO BED
FUCK HIM FUCK HIM FUCK HIM. USELESS BASTARD. YOU ARE THE PROBLEM HERE
ugh it's not cool to hate on a 9 year old esp since he's lonely and neglected by his dad but he's such a brat
her parents and sect are so useless this preteen girl has to go out into the woods at like 1 am to find her new brother
wwx's first instinct was to find a tree to climb. dogs can't climb trees, but how many trees were in yiling for him to learn to climb? hmm
wwx falling is such a theme and jyl being the only one besides lwj to ever try to catch him....ough. his two lights indeed
jyl also actually explains why jc is upset rather than just telling him he'll be fine
HALF A DAY??!! hasn't he suffered enough. mein gott
and of course now she has to parent her two baby brothers one of whom is very traumatized and newly adopted and the other is very socially inept and clumsy so he came out to help and now he's BLEEDING. if I was her I would have carried so much resentment as an adult oops her parents are dead so I guess she can't even if she wanted to
YOU WILL SAY IT CRYING SOMEDAY
it's significant that (iirc) jc never says he's sorry in the main timeline. only twice in the story - here and at the very end. a lot of people consider the finale the end of their relationship, but I prefer to see it as a reset. a renewal. they're starting again. jc is crying and he's sorry for hurting wwx, and wwx forgives him because he's a nice kid and because he does care about him. and they can start from there, even if things will be different
they don't have jyl anymore, but everything's come out between them. they can coexist on equal footing. wwx has someone who protects him. jc doesn't resent him so much. all his anger is spent. he feels bad. they won't be what they were before, but I like to think they'll at least have some of the brotherhood they once did
jc also crying in his sleep with this flashback. lot of sleep crying these days

So... the netflixvania nocturne alleged leaks.. (warning me negatively and incoherently yelling below) (emphasis on incoherently)
First the leaks are not confirmed and i really hope it's just a troll, so while i speak of them as if they were to happen, i cant give a proper critique and hopefully, really hopefully im just being a negative saltshaker and i'll get proven wrong when it releases.
But Jesus
What. The. Fuck.
They had to add "complexity" by including historical events (happening in the other side of the continent mind you bc apparently eastern europe isn't interesting enough for this show ?) bc "the games too simple" :) but they needed to simplify said historical revolution into "white rich men bad" through cucking Richter both in personality and literally (Nevermind that one of the social sectors in favor of the revolution was the bourgeoisie nor that many noblemen were in favour of the revolution and that Richter's fam was hated for centuries until a hundred years ago). I can't say im knowledgeable in history but i feel it's just gonna be added as edgy flavor without nuance, and what else to expect from the writers whose fav excuse for ignoring the game's themes is "oh but those were simple old games with no text".
I can't also wait to see what stale flavor of church bad we will get this time (i need to remind you all that this show got me defensive over the portrayal of christianity n virtue in the games, and this is abt japanese games were you just fucking throw crosses like boomerangs at monsters (as our Lord intended) and with criticism against it too (how many gals got branded as witches and burned again ? ))
And ofc Annette chooses to leave her priviledged guy for...Dracula. the fucking old rich white warlord Dracula, that's very revolutionary, very cool n edgy and not to mention completely in touch with her character in the games /s. It's like the complaints abt the Dracula book adaptations that ruined Jhonnatan's character and made Mina a reincarnation of Drac's wife to justify her wanting to bang her abuser :) . Even if it's used as a way to highlight Drac's manipulations or something similar i doubt it could work.
And then Richter (look at how they massacred my boy) gets corrupted not bc of him fulfilling his destiny and feeling he has no purpose anymore all due to his upbringing, bearing the weight of his family's legacy and the cycles of violence and hatred the whole series is themed after nooo he sad bc he had to kill girl who cucked him :( (It also feels like an attempt to mirror the "my wife died now im bad" Dracula shtick with a Belmont but Lament of Innocence already did this 1420952 times better)
And dont even mention Alucard n Maria fucking like jesus motherfucking christ i get some ppl ship it but it's gonna be ultra gross specially with maria being 17 during SoTN and with the sensitivity this show has treated sex before. Like the one sex scene that isn't rape is gonna be with an underage girl and an adult man with an enormous power imbalance yipee (and also completely ooc to his canon portrayal)
This l is what i mean abt the show portraying an amoral landscape for the sake of coolness and edgyness. It feels like a way to spite the game fans further at the expense of the show (which i hope im wrong at)
It saddens me a lot bc despite my beef with netflixvania it was my introduction to the series and it had many awesome moments, and i was hopeful nocturne would improve upon it's predecessors and make me love it.
And if they're fake leaks then the troll who wrote them deserves an applause for making me write this lol
#netflixvania rants#im trying my best to be fair here (failing) and i really hope im wrong#me rambles#Pd: i had to to witchcraft to add that read more from mobile#Lol dont burn me

You come off an obsessive stalker about certain accounts. There's real problems about real people out there. Put down your mobile and look up for one second.
this account is focused on fandom racism, which is a reflection of racism learned in the world outside of fandom. since I've opened my inbox, other fans have also shared opinions on what they're seeing in the fandom. it's the only place u can say anything without white fandom (a mindset, not a skin color) personally bullying u, like ur trying to do here. if certain users are mentioned a lot then look at why that is. the context is in the posts.
this account was created in the first place bcuz this fandom couldn't stop bullying fans of color (mostly black) and then crying victim about it. so I decided to confront them in public about it and rly expose the way they speak and manipulate ppl. I wanted it to be rly spelled out what's going on here. they were doing this for a long, long time before I showed up. they could have just shut up at any point but they didn't. most of them still won't talk about me in posts here bcuz I'm too public about things and they don't know how to approach this. their specialty is bothering personal accounts who don't exist in the tags and putting a target on their back, usually just for being black in fandom. they try to cover this up by having other black fans do the posting for this but it's the same point no matter who is posting it.
the reason this account doesn't give out identifying info about myself too is bcuz this is all u do. even when u don't know anything about my race, age, gender, location, u still focus on me so u can try to distract from talking about racism. there's over 600 posts on this account and it's only a few months old. we all know there's a real problem here and u can't cover it up by doing this bcuz I'll call it out every time.

I know the post is days old but the one about the man, well both about the men who left the women after being incarcerated made me sad. That same thing happened to my older sister. She would send her friend who was incarcerated for fifteen years money to help with any and everything he needed. They talked everyday even when she was dog tired from working 12/13 hour shifts as a CNA.She was making sure he had food and even paid for books he needed for classes(it's weird because he was taking real estate classes.I guess real estate is a big thing in prison?Idk.)But she made sure he was okay everyday for years all while taking care of herself ,me,our mom who has cancer and our cousins who were sick as well.
I will never forget how he would pressure her to get into the real estate industry but she was nervous to do so because she didn't want to waste her hard earned money. She was also paying off her student loans. So he tried to get her to use OPM(other people's money)and when she decided not to after he told her how it works,he would belittle her because she didn't want to take out loans. She's always been responsible money wise and never took out a loan except for school. He even made fun of her CNA job as if she was less than him.
Fast forward,he did get out and they kept in touch but then he disappeared too after he started making money rehabbing houses. He was always driven to be a millionaire and told her if she wasn't going to start a business or start real estate then they couldn't be friends.Who does that?He lied to people saying no one was there for him after he got and lied about his finances so people could give him money to help him rehab homes. It was weird.
My sister is a big believer in God and has always helped others because that's how our mom raised us.In his darkest hours she was there for him, just like those ladies were there for their friends and just like I tell my sister,I'm going to tell the other ladies the same...THEY WILL BE BLESSED AND GET IT ALL BACK!I never want people to feel bad for being there for someone especially with they needed it or believing in someone when no one else did.It doesn't matter who shows up when someone finally starts winning and being successful. The ones who were there when people had nothing should always be celebrated. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be wealthy but people in general need to watch how they treat others and decide to throw others away just because that person isn't on their level,at that time.To me it says a lot about someone's character and if someone could do that to someone who was there when they had nothing, thinking they're so much better than them,I can only imagine how they would be once wealthy. To know people only want to deal with you because you have money should make anyone very nervous. What if you get sick or if things go left one day and your money's gone? Who's going to be there? We're all living on borrowed time.I would much rather treat everyone like somebody and keep a clean heart than use people for my selfish needs and money. It's just very sad and wrong.
@ sad/wrong - This is 'xactly how I feel about financially manipulative ppl too - triangulating relationship to get you to spend your money.
💕 Love this - "Theres nothing wrong with bring wealthy but ppl in general need to watch how they treat others."
And it hasnt been explicitly stated (i cld be wrong) but I got a hunch they would never allow female friends to treat them like this and still try and be close.
In general, I hope women find a higher standard to put these men to when it comes to friendship. 🫶🏾

YOUR FATE CANNOT BE AVERTED. YOU'VE INHERITED IT.
✧ ⸻ [ ewan mitchell, non-binary, they/he ] ; welcome back to the rider’s quadrant, ALEKSANDER KOZLOV, we’re so glad to see you’ve survived for your THIRD YEAR ! you may be TWENTY SIX years old, but it’s your signet of WEATHER MANIPULATION, and your proclivity for being DUTIFUL and METICULOUS, that let you get this far. i see you’re just as ABRASIVE and RETICENT as you were before, rider. your dragon is the male, BLUE SWORDTAIL dragon named KOSCHEI, right ? rumor among the riders is that you remind them of love like a jail, extraordinary always just out of your reach, the itch of a scar never-ending, but who takes stock in that ? do try to stay in line, won’t you ? ╱ nimah, 24, they/them, nzst.
"i am going to make a man whos never felt happy for a moment" me, sending in my application at 3am
trigger warning for sibling death / child neglect / emotional abuse and neglect
critically the most important thing i can say is that therapy is needed
second child out of three, absolutely idolized his older brother ilya (who was clinically, eldest daughter complex but also the perfect child) and it's the dead child who's forever living on the mantle and you'll never be good enough (pov i am explaining ilya to you: everyone keeps talking about what a bright future he could have had! what a wonderful child he was! what a good person and how they’re going to miss him so much and you're standing right there with your grief. your grief doesn't matter and they only want him back. they're refusing to let go of a memory of a dead child to accept and love the living ones. you’re begging them to accept you and love you for who you are! but they don’t care. you’re alive and they only care about the dead one)
anyways
but ilya dies. he dies helping put down the civil war (and what a good child! how noble and brave! who rode such a ferocious dragon and did such good and you and your sister are sitting there with all your accomplishments and they mean nothing) and the only thing that his parents want is their son back. aleksander and his younger sister mean nothing. the desperate forever trying to live up to your dead brother, it's never-ending. so they make it into the infantry (and the nepotism about just how brave and skilled his brother is, it wasn't just death, it was a sacrifice to save the rest of his squad, it was to save civilians, it doesn't matter what it was but his ghost cannot stop haunting you.) it was nepotism because their brother was so perfect and it was his downfall because he's never quite enough.
so it comes down to dying or claiming koschei. threshing day comes and he's set his eyes on the prize. it's living up to their brother, claiming the dragon he rode into battle to prove you're just as worthy as he was.
(and you succeed. not without a little maiming. everyone jokes that the dragon only bonded with you because he thought you were your brother. the worst bit is that sometimes you hear the wrong name being whispered through the bond).
the very first letter he gets from his parents is the only one they received in his second year. it makes no comment towards said maiming, no asking how well the scar has healed or should his vision have returned, it only asks if the dragon is well. if their beloved dead son's dragon has been well.
you're never going to escape these ghosts.
wanted connections: i am explaining to u how funny it would be to accidentally call aleksander, ilya because they look so much alike and ur asking if i am mentally well friends (reluctant and also weirdos). ppl who knew his brother. "friends because our dragons are friends/mates and i guess we should be too". worlds slowest and most fucked up slow burn.

#but yeah like it's mostly probably from comparison TO loki that ppl do this#bc like loki's always so many steps ahead everyone else looks dumb in comparison#but you'd NOT outwit thor just randomly#as a random person#nuh-uh - @thelibraryofsylphide
Hello lovely (i wanna ty for the reblog! ^-^)
I want to also add that Loki can't easily outwit Thor either. Contrarily, they're on the same wavelength a majority of the time; perfectly balanced as all things should be evenly matched, to be frank! :D The only real exception to this is in "Thor" (2011), when Thor is completely in the dark about everything happening in Asgard for 3 days while banished to Earth, (and he wasn't aware of Loki's betrayal before the Warriors told him so. He believed Loki 100% because that's his brother, who as far as he was concerned wouldn't lie to him about anything so drastic as their Father's death.), and kind of "The Avengers", but only because Thor and Loki had been apart for a year (with Thor thinking Loki was dead) and was not willing to torture his own brother for information on his plan. He was more concerned with the fact that Loki was alive at all, and how to convince him to return home with him as his brother. Which ultimately leads to a case that Loki has, canonically, only outwit Thor whenever it's an emotional manipulation at play that Thor was unawares of.
Loki's greatest strength is his intelligence and his ambition, absolutely! I'm not here to detract from that in the slightest. I like Loki as a character. But I've always thought that in the instances that someone compares Thor to Loki and the result of that is to somehow get the idea that Thor is somehow unintelligent as a result is completely mind-boggling to me!! (Not saying you're saying this, for clarification!!! I'm simply speaking broadly, because I do also see that assumption thrown about too! And it is horribly, grossly incorrect.) I think both boys can be incredibly intelligent, and that their strengths lie in completely different fields. A sort of... book-smart vs. street-smart instance. But that doesn't make one of them less smart. It also doesn't make either of them non-geniuses. They're both geniuses.
But to the point:
I feel as though whenever I read the take that Thor is "unintelligent because Loki is a genius", people often forget that Thor has tricked Loki before! Specifically in "The Dark World" when he sleights-of-hands Loki into cuffs. (He's then all cheeky and jokes about how "And here I thought you liked tricks ;D~", what a silly man)
He then tricks Loki (and the entirety of the Asgardian army, AND his own father, the who-knows-how-old warlord) again with the concept of his escape plan, leading everyone not in the know to think that he had stolen the "biggest, most obvious ship in the universe" to escape off-planet.
"You lied to me. I'm impressed."
This was all a very long con. A ruse, if you will.
Not to mention that the entire escape plan was entirely of Thor's own making from breaking Jane and Loki out to getting off planet at all. The only part that Loki's played was utilizing the bridges between worlds. Which was ALSO solely Thor's idea. Loki just agreed to the recruitment.
It's also heavily implied (if not just flat out canon.) that BOTH brothers worked together to create the plan to make it seem as though Loki had betrayed Thor to get the Aether! As Loki stages this rather theatric display following Thor's lead, I'd wager that this was also primarily Thor's idea, the same with the rest of the plan. (This is also working on the understanding that Loki, by the time he's had his "Trust my rage" moment, would have been full-tilt on attempting to prove to Thor that they can be more than enemies; that Thor can trust him after all. So, working together and following Thor's leadership would be instrumental in securing that trust. Which is entirely in Loki's M.O. by this point.)
On top of that, even in "Thor: Ragnarok" (surprising I know) Thor's intelligence is displayed to be on par with characters like Loki, because he's able to talk in science-fiction mumbo-jumbo with Bruce Banner when they were discussing their plan to get off Sakaar and back to Asgard.
All this to say that if you ever want specific and concrete examples on how Thor is perfectly intelligent, street-savvy, quick-thinking and altogether on par with characters like Loki, Tony Stark, and Peter Parker, here are not one, but five examples! :)
The definition of a himbo (according to urban dictionary) is as follows:
"Himbo - A dumb or naive man, who, despite looking like an asshole Chad, is actually sweet, respectful, and kind. Typically large, beefy, and relatively handsome, but friendly. Gentle giants, if you will. Perhaps the best example of a himbo is Kronk, from The Emperor;s New Groove. He is large, strong, and stupid, but extremely kind and respectful to everyone. He is also incredibly innocent and unaware of many events happening around him, as most himbos are."
The key words here being the following:
dumb or naive; stupid.
Other definitions also include:
An attractive man, often very buff or fit, that is not particularly smart or bright but often tries to be respectful, particularly to women.
A man who generally is stupid, but tries hard to be a respectful man.
Thor
is
NOT
A
HIMBO
and
has never been.
by any definition EXCEPT when approved by Taika Waititi.
But, thank you for seeing that he is, in fact, respectful, kind, and very hot.
We can at least agree on that much.
#&&. thor.#&&. | marvel. |#&&. my meta#&&. meta#(didn't mean to make this especially long but i see this comment a lot and i wanted to debunk it since it was brought up)#(on my own post about thor's intelligence. thor is a genius the same as loki and that's not headcanon in the slightest.)#(it is pure and canonical fact)#(he goes toe to toe with loki at every turn and can boil down entire space-and-magic related theories to an astrophysicist)#(AND to bruce banner who is not anywhere near Jane's field of study)#(it's not that much of a stretch to then think he can further break down most any concept to a normal person like you or me.)#(he is the quintessential embodiment of a subtle genius)#(which is in reality exactly how REAL geniuses would be)
