Queer stuff

I'm asexual and sex repulsed. I am also genderqueer/genderfluid/alexigender, so I don't mind what terminology or pronouns you use on me but I prefer more neutral ones. I don't know how to label my sexuality but I'm just calling it queer. I'm in a loving, long-term romantic relationship with the wonderful @names-confuse-me (they're called Erin and he's awesome!).

I will always respect your pronouns and identity and I am a safe person to speak to about this (and most other things). If I don't know your pronouns I will use they/them until I find out. Sometimes I don't fully understand an identity but I will always respect and acknowledge it!

Mental Health stuff

I am officially diagnosed with autism, and I might have OCD. My parents think I have ADHD, as well as probably synthensia. But in short I am neurodivergent, so would really appreciate a safe environment for me, if you can provide it!

I also have vivid hallucinations, panic attacks, I self harm, etc. I have a vent blog so I won't mention it here, and I always use trigger warnings. This shouldn't be an issue but if you really dont want to see that stuff, don't follow me probably.

Note about my content

Everything I say is gender neutral (e.g. dude, bro, girlie) but I will always use your preferred pronouns and be as affirming for you as possible. I posted my take on a transjapanese flag some time ago on a separate blog i lost the login info for. The post is still up, but i thought id repost it here, because i made a higher quality version and it also has mascots now!

I personally call it the 4 season flag. The mascots are up to you what one you like more, I picked a pheasant because its the national bird of japan (Phasianus versicolor) while I picked a tanuki for the second mascot because its an animal that comes to lots of people's minds when they think of japan, but also because its a japanese animal even named after in english for its resemblance to an animal that is not. The tanuki is 友彩 Yua, the pheasant is 優羽 Yuwa. Neither of them have a gender, as in you can portray their genders however you'd like.

The 4 seasons flag was created in my response to personally not liking the pink transjpn flag. i feel as though it feeds into stereotypes and a fixation on idol culture and "kawaii" obsession that personally i feel is a bad call to choose to boast about, but also it does not feel as all-encompassing, or like its painting all of us as being such. i didnt connect with it much. japan is much more than hello kitty and sakura season. if you connect with that, sure thats fine, but not everyone does so i wanted to make a flag that includes more people and recognizes more than what is the most consumable on the internet.

each stripe on my flag represents the 4 seasons. pink for spring flowers, purple for summer flowers, orange for autumn leaves, and white for winter snow. (i would have added blue for the rainy season and to represent the ocean but i wanted the flag to be recognizable and simple, as well as the colors to mesh together in a sort of sunrise look, due to the sun in the middle and reputation of japan being the country of the rising sun.) the cut through the lower half splits the autumn in two, because theres many colors of autumn leaves, and many people who comes from many walks of life who would unite under this flag. it continues into the center stripe to make a shadow of a mountain and the sky, representing both people who are closeted and people who are out, and people who are struggling and people who are happy. the sun is residual of the flag of japan and other transjpn flags. i also chose the 4 seasons as a theme because the seasons change as time passes regardless of where you live, sometimes it changes the way the world looks and sometimes not so much. people also change with time, sometimes they change physically and some dont, but no matter where someone is from, they can change, and it is natural to change.

hiii so queer discourse post ahead!! im sorry if i say anything wrong please correct me if i do!! also pls read to the end if you would like to comment because its very much a "stream of thought" kinda post so i go through a few opinions before settling on anything-

saw an argument under a poll recently about how detransitioners who hadnt gone through any sort of medical transition shouldnt be allowed to call themselves trans if they had reverted to a gender that matches with their assigned sex and. honestly i feel like this is one of those admittedly rare moments where i dont really know what opinion to take? i mean i do believe that a detransitioners experience is unique so its entirely reasonable for them to identity more with a trans experience but- relating to what the argument was about- should someone born a woman be able to call themselves a trans woman if they had briefly thought they were trans then. changed their mind before having taken any steps to transition? i really really really!!! dont want to gatekeep identities, its just as people pointed out, being TOO accepting can just open up a loophope for ppl with umm. other intentions, such as chasers - which is, not that great? im just bringing this up because admittedly part of me is worried about both of these positions- one seems really gatekeepy but could also be helpful in allowing trans ppl to have a term to describe specifically themselves; while the other kind of means that the uniqueness of a trans experience is taken away if ppl can say they're trans without having ever transitioned or facing any of the experiences of trans people (dont wanna say issues because defining trans ppl by the issues they face isnt that helpful, though yes obviously those as well)

after having written this out i partially think i may have been influenced by conformity tbh (whoaa psychology reference) because like. the VAST!!! majority of the notes in that poll was that they shouldnt call themselves trans but while im here typing this out im finding myself disagreeing with that position more than not- like ultimately i feel like people should be able to use whatever labels they think fits for them as long as its genuine to their feelings at that moment, and in the cases where they're using them harmfully/disingenuously then thats like. the exception and not the rule- right?

we'll do transguy ryan first. in my mind the timeline is that he starts seriously learning ab queerness sometime in high school, super burying himself online + in books all the time. tries to be a tomboy, butch, but it just doesnt rly work. so he tells spencer one summer, hey, i think im a guy. goes through senior year knowing but not telling anyone else, except for maybe a couple more friends, spencers mom. buys new clothes and keeps his hair short and his head down til the summer after graduation; doesnt even tell brendon hes trans once brendon joins the band, brendons just like alright cool youre a guy with a girly voice whatev. he does come out to him soon enough since they get pretty close but for the most part fully intends on keeping stealth, esp as the band gets bigger, bigger, and it seriously turns into a ticket outta there.

he doesnt manage to start taking t until around mid 2006 and the costumes + makeup help a lot a lot in dealing w heavy dysphoria+general discomfort around that time and with being perceived ssooo much so fast. he got top surgery around 07 and cabin era was yes in part to make a new album but also he spent it recovering. he was able to mellow out a lot in 07/08 in big part thanks to finally being comfortable in his own body. yay💖 idk if he'd ever come out publicly or stay stealth forever. maybe? anyway

tgirl ryan is a different story entirely. it starts sort of the same - finding blogs & books about queerness about halfway through high school, and it all resonates way too deep, too much. instead of coming out, she refuses to think about it and refuses to talk about it and refuses to let comments from the public, from the press, from her friends and bandmates and pete about could be pretty for a girl, and are you sure youre not gay? get to her. again, the makeup & the costumes are solace. bending and experimenting and maybe, sometimes, seeing herself in the mirror, and still being able to snap back into place: say see, dont worry, its just for show. and she doesnt really mean to ever let it slip but its 2007, theyre supposed to be making a new album but it sort of feels like theyre making a new -- something else entirely, and, well, theyre doing a lot of drugs. she asks, do you think im a girl? sort of vaguely, the ceiling is spinning and everyones quiet, too quiet, she almost thinks none of them are there and shes gonna sit up to see shes alone in her room, until jon says: i dont know, i think thats up to you. she sits up, and everyones looking at her. not judging; mostly just curious, confused.

ryan tells them, yes, she likes her name. it can be a girls name, right? she already chose it once. so they still call her ryan but they start calling her her in private, because, she says, hell no, shes not coming out to everyone. not any time soon, at least.

things are way easier, way more comfortable, just like that, for a while. being out to even just a select few is a big weight off; its easy enough to tune out everyone else. but as time goes on it becomes more and more obvious, its definitely not sustainable for the long term.

so the band falls apart. so its just her and jon. they do a couple shows and the venues are way smaller, the attention is dying down, and thats when she tells him, okay, i want to come out.

its just one interview, she tries to keep it lowkey, telling everyone in her immediate circle first and telling them yes, yes, please, call me a woman in public. dont make me do all the work.

so thats how it happens. its not easy, by any means, but she starts estrogen and lets her hair grow out and curl, smiles hard when jon refers to her easily, correctly on stage, in front of everyone, and so maybe its all worth it; to be comfortable like this, in her own skin. and maybe it pays off in ways she didnt even think of, too -- someone in the audience, one night, passing up a trans flag for her to put on the mic stand.

On a different subject- just some constructive criticism, your response to that anon left a really bad taste in my mouth because you made your dislike of a random ship about how the Evil Gays are trying to "advance their agenda" through gay shipping...I get what youre trying to say but that is a REALLY loaded phrase in relation to gay issues, as were several other phrases you used, for example, saying gay shippers are delusional, biased, and self centered for projecting their sexualities onto characters. I also hate when ppl misunderstand characters canon relationships and try to pretend their fanon ships are supported by canon. I also hate eruri bc personally I just do not like the ship. But blaming gay people for it is more than a little fucked up lol like you could just say you hate eruri without dragging all gay people into it and making this statement about how the gays are evil for experiencing fandom in a way that you dont like. What's "fucked up" is you putting words in my mouth that I never said and then accusing me of being homophobic based on these made up words. I never said people calling Levi gay is hurting me, either. I said focusing on his sexuality and making his sexuality the most essential aspect of his person when discussing his character is distracting and potentially leads to bad interpretation because it literally has no bearing ON his character. His sexual orientation is irrelevant to who he is. People who make their entire identity about who they want to have sex with or who they're attracted to will often project that onto fictional characters, and then get mad at anyone who doesn't do the same. You're doing it right now. And when said characters sexuality has nothing to do with who they are as a character, doing this is harmful to ones ability TO UNDERSTAND said character.

I'm not biased toward gay people. Again, that's all you making assumptions because you want to be offended.

And I don't hate eruri. How hard is it for you to read? I've stated multiple times, in multiple different ways, that I've both written and read countless eruri fics. Some of my favorite AoT fics are eruri and it's the ship I primarily engage with when reading AoT fic. But I guess you just missed that little detail. Convenient for you, since it doesn't support your desire to see me as some homophobic bigot who's insensitive to the gays.

Hey there! I have been going as agender for a while because I feel like it's the only label that fits me. But it's like wearing a shirt that's a bit too small. I feel like I dont have a gender and agender feels like it IS a gender. Yes I know, it means i dont have one. But it still feels like it for some reason. Am I just being picky?

The only reason I'm revisiting it is because I recently came to terms with being aromantic. So now I just want to get all my ducks in a row. Right now I identify as an Agender aromantic queer. I dunno maybe I'm just being weird. Please help

Hmm the #1 thing that comes to mind is Gendervoid since you describe it as an absence of gender.

Gendervoid: refers to a gender which is an absence, a blank space or void where a gender might otherwise be.

Gendervoid is similar to agender, and the two terms are sometimes used interchangeably. However, while they do overlap, they are not exactly the same. Agender is a more broad term, and it can also sometimes encompasses neutral genders. Additionally, while an agender individual may feel as though they never really had a gender in the first place, a gendervoid individual may feel like there is an empty place where their gender would/should be but simply isn't or is unable to experience gender. One may also feel that the void itself is their gender.

Another possibility:

Gendernull: the absence of gender, but it is not considered agender or neutrois. It is a term for those to give some sort of “tangibility” to the intangible thing that is their gender. Gendernull has been described as: "undefinable, intangible, the uncreation of gender."

Those are the main two that I think of for a lack of gender, but I'm sure there are many other terms too. I hope that helps!
