Remember when i said Talbott and Cereza werent over? Yeah.

I promised yall i would write a continuation of this. For those dont remember that happend, here

It's been two months and few days since the big argument Talbott and Cereza had on the hospital wings.

This all happened because Cereza tried to do all the investigation and take down R by herself, but of course that plan failed and it backfired on her very badly. She fought the wizard in white and almost died because of it, losing her consciousness after he ran away, fortunately she was found by Moody who was searching for her after her twin brother said she went missing and was taken to the hospital wings.

She was scolded for it of course, and after that her friends went to visit her. All of her friends were worried for her, especially her twin brother Michael who jumped into her hugging her tight, crying, not realizing her whole body was in pain before he quickly let her go.

After a long chat with her friends and twin brother Talbott got in but he didn't look happy, he asked for everyone to leave him and Cereza alone because he wanted to talk to her, everyone left confused to what was going on.

Outside people could hear both Talbott and Cereza arguing with each other, Talbott was disappointed that Cereza lied to everyone including him about not having any information that could be useful for Circle ot Khanna and that she did is by herself he thought she was dead she could have died because of her reckless decision, Cereza tried to explain herself by saying she thought what she was doing was the right because she wanted to protect everyone which didn't make Talbott feel any less worse but the opposite. Both kept arguing with each other until Talbott storms out of hospital wings not looking at his friend's faces who were waiting outside, Penny tried to stop him but he just ignored her and walked away, once everyone back inside to the hospital they saw Cereza holding back her tears but she did a very job at it once everyone was inside and started crying.

Cereza rarely saw Talbott after what happened, she only saw him on the classes they shared but even then he didn't even talk to her, she decided to let it be not wanting to bother Talbott and she thought that this was the end of their relationship. This broke her alot, the happy girl that was always smiling and giggling all the time wasn't there anymore, not only she felt bad for what she did but she thought she lost one of the people she loved the most.

That was until Cereza got a letter in the morning, Andre gave it to her and said "It's from Talbott." She quickly opened the letter and read the paper that said:

"We need to talk. Meet me after dinner in the courtyard."

She thanked Andre for the letter who nodded and said "I hope everything works out for you guys." And left, Cereza also hoped that things would work out but she couldn't help but feel anxious about it. What did he want to talk about after dinner? Why did it have to wait?

"Does he want to end our relationship once and for all?" Cereza thought all day, Cereza knew how to be patient but this waiting was killing her.

During dinner she barely ate anything, Rowen(M!Rowan) was trying to make her eat something but she couldn't.

"You have to eat something, you can't sleep with an empty stomach." Said Rowen, worried for his best friend trying to make her eat. He knew about the letter, Cereza told him about it and he knew how nervous and anxious she was because of it.

"I can't, this wait is killing me.'' Cereza said anxiously.

She then looked around, noticing that Talbott wasn't at the ravenclaw table or at any table of the other houses.

"Did you see Talbott walk in?" Asked Cereza, still looking around, Rowen shook his head.

"No, I didn't, I don't think he is coming for dinner today." Rowen took a bite of his food as he said that.

"Why? Do you know about something??"

"No, no, but...Penny said she didn't see all day, he didn't go to any of his classes." Cereza felt her heart drop, this wasn't like him, he would NEVER miss any class, if there was something Talbott was proud of himself is that he was an excellent student.

"This isn't like him…" Whispered Cereza."I cant, i have to go."

"Wha- B-But dinner time isn't over yet!"

"I'm sorry Rowen, but I have to go."

"...Okay, good luck Cere!"

Cereza nodded and left the great hall running, she opened the big door to the corridor and rushed past the students to the courtyard.

As she got outside she looked around.

There he was, sitting on the tree trunk looking at the stars just like he would when he waited for her for their dates.. Cereza sighed with relief knowing that Talbott was okay...or was he?

She took a deep breath and walked toward him, stopping right before him.

"Hey…" Talbott jumped at hearing Cereza's voice, he was probably so lost in his thoughts that he didn't hear her walk in.

"Oh, Sorry I didn't hear you coming in…" Said Talbott awkwardly.

"Its okay…"

"..."

"Penny said she didn't see you all day, you also didn't come for dinner as well."

"I felt sick all day and I wasn't hungry."

"Oh...I'm sorry, I hope you're better now."

Silence took over, the only sound they heard was the cold night wind, making things kinda awkward. Until Talbott coughed and said

Cereza then looked at the sky, it was a pretty starry night, she could see some shooting stars.

" The night is beautiful tonight isn't it?" Asked Talbott, breaking the silence.

"Yeah. It is beautiful."

"It reminds me of when we used to have our dates here, you would make wishes for the shooting stars."

"Stupid wishes, I know." Cereza giggled at her own stupid self.

"I never thought they were stupid." Said Talbott.

"I should have trusted you all to defend yourselves without my help, I shouldn't have lied to you guys about not finding anything."

"Cereza listen-"

"I shouldn't have done that, I could have died and i didn't thought about how you, my family and the rest of our friends would feel about it if I died, you were right when you said things wouldn't get any better if I-"

"CEREZA!"

Cereza jumped at Talbott who raised his voice at her, he gripped her shoulders and made her look at him, his eyes staring at her but he didn't look angry he looked sad.

"Just...listen to me please."

Cereza nodded and whispered "sorry" and let him talk.

"Look...after what happened, i couldn't stop thinking about that night on hospital wings. That night kept playing in my head over and over every time I went to bed...I felt awful"

Talbott nodded, he took a deep breath as if was holding himself to not cry.

Cereza's hand went to Talbott's cheek, who jumped at her touch but then rested his face on her hand holding her hand even more close to his face. He closed his eyes while he felt her warmth on his skin again after so long.

Talbott's eyes quickly opened as he looked at her, he was surprised but it also looked like a heavy weight was lifted off his shoulders. She continued:

Cereza also felt as if a heavy weight was lifted off her shoulders as well, she smiled as she felt tears run down her face and she had to take off her glasses to clean it.

"I-I thought...I thought you called me to end everything between us." Said Cereza as she cried while she tried to clean her tears off her face. She was shaking a little and her breath was also shaky.

"I would never do that." He whispered. "If anything, I was more afraid of you wanting to break up with me."

Talbott got closer to her and hugged tight on to his body, catching her by surprise.

Cereza returned the tight hug, smiling while tears rolled down her face, Talbott also had tears rolling down his face who tried to hide by hiding his face on her shoulder but his shaky breath and the way he sniffed quietly gave it away he was crying. Cereza's hand went to Talbott's hair and was caressing his hair.

"I thought I was going to lose you." Whispered Talbott, not wanting to let her go.

"I thought the same thing…" Cereza whispered back, kissing his head.

Both of them stopped hugging each other as they cleaned their faces but still kept close, Talbott's hand travelled to Cereza's face and caressed her cheek, his hand was cold as always but Cereza never cared about that, she liked his touch.

They both stared at each other, they both knew it was awkward the way they stared at each other but they did not care, their gazes were filled with intense love.

Talbott kept his hand on Cereza's cheek and kissed her other cheek gently but his face didn't move away, in fact he kept face very close to hers moving only a little to her lips, their noses were touching each other and they could feel their heavy breaths, Cereza closed her eyes as she felt her heartbeat go very fast and her face was red, Talbott heart also felt like it was going to jump from his mouth and even his ears were dark red. He brushed his nose on to hers but then kissed her nose, he caressed her cheek once more smiling, Cereza then opened her eyes and saw his smile and smiled back at him. Both of them giving loving smiles at each other.

"I love you." Said Talbott.

Cereza's hand went to Talbott's face and to his cheek as well, as she sighed and smiled again.

"I love you too, meu amor.'

Talbott's smile grew as he heard again the loving way Cereza called him using her first language, while they didn't have their first kiss yet what matters is that they were both together again.

"Just promise to me that you will be more careful." Said Talbott.

Cereza nodded.

"I will...but, do you promise to never leave my side?" Asked Cereza, Talbott chuckled and said:

"I promise, my sunshine."

every theory ive seen so far throws out Jeff + Cyrus after their named track, but i found the little we know so compelling i wanted to do better.

Throughout ahwt many letters are written, many messages are left, and it all starts with Jeff.

Cyrus is sent away somewhere, probably to the mentioned treatment facility for adolescent boys from the cover. i personally imagine it as a religious or military based facility, somewhere very strict. i wonder if cyrus ever got Jeffs letters.

an important personal note: i always miss heard the line as "will in time both have peace and outlive you" and i think that plays a lot into the story i have told for them. i want them to find peace, with each other.

2- Color in Your Cheeks

Maybe one of my weaker connections, but a nice segway into the second arc of our boy's lives. While i don't necessarily think Cyrus is the man described in Colour In Your Cheeks, the description almost fits. many people pass through the house, whos to say one is not a runaway from a treatment facility, broken and lost, unable to return home.

3- Distant Stations

The song that inspired all this. The second i heard this I was picturing Cyrus: the hoping, praying for someone to come and find you, rescue you from all this, but the fear of someone else coming instead. Cyrus can keep writing letters to Jeff, telling him that he's free, but what if the letters are being intercepted? he can't include a return address, he could be locked back up, but that never stops the child-like hope that Jeff will find him anyway.

Also, the rock is a guitar pick, obviously.

4- Source Decay

Jeff can't wait around for Cyrus forever. They aren't kids anymore, he has to move on. But that won't stop him keeping the same P.O box so he can still receive the post Cyrus sends, won't stop him searching for clues. It won't stop every letter, every dead end, from killing him.

He will move on with his life, but he wont forget.

5- Answering the Phone

Maybe not a letter, but a message at last.

Time has passed, they have grown up. Jeff keeps the same post office box, the same number, the same everything. Cyrus runs, and runs, and runs. Something changes. Maybe he knows he cant be touched anymore, maybe he's just tired.

The phone call isnt nice by any means, but that doesnt matter. Nothing else matters, because its Cyrus, and maybe Jeff hasnt moved on as much as he thought.

6- Midland

Maybe its good not to have moved on, to still care about a person you havent seen in years. To open the door and offer a safe place to recover with no ulterior motives. It doesn't matter what you say, i will still be here, i will not judge, you will be safe.

Maybe the best ever death metal band out of Denton never was, but theres still a future waiting for Jeff + Cyrus.

7- Absolute Lithops Effect

A final sign off. Moving in with Jeff wont fix everything for Cyrus, and what it will fix will take time. But if you hold on, if you wait, if you have someone who cares for you helping you along, it can get better.

I see this fitting into my narrative two ways. Neither has any basis in the lyrics, i just think it fits nice on the playlist, mostly.

I either read this as Jeff, having left highschool, having grown up, gotten in some trouble, deciding to give it all up and come back to a family members house, get his life back on track. maybe he's finally fixing things but he cannot help but look back.

alternatively, i see Cyrus, after everything, coming home to Jeff. In this narrative id place this after answering the phone. Cyrus knows he cant stay running forever, that its been too long for anyone to do anything about him now, hes called jeff and yelled and yet still, he is inviting him in.

I couldnt quite fit the narrative as neatly into this as with other tracks but i think theres sections that lean either way. The references to Midland are nice, too.

So basically Zuko's 12th birthday he goes to sleep and in his dream there are three people with one surrounded by a pale white ribbon.

"H-hello?" He called out.

"Hi!" A cheery voice called out

"Im assuming you're all.. not my soulmate, because I'm 8" a slightly annoyed young girl called

The rest of the dream was fairly blurry to him. He ran to his mom to talk about his dream, going on about Oshi, Bandit and Turt; he shortened turtleduck because well, he wanted to.

They dont meet up until later that year, after his mother had left him he was found crying

"Sunny?" He heard Bandit call out

"Huh!? Oh hey guys, sorry, im fine" he sighed "I- I lost my mom just last week"

They all comforted him and then pulled the conversation to different topics, Turt talking about going hunting with his dad and getting hit wolf tail caught on a fishing line. Bandit talked about her earthbending and how she learned how to use her badger tail to bend as well. Oshi all the while hovered as close as the dream would let her, it felt similar to a motherly protection and he appreciated it greatly.

The next time they saw eachother was about two nights after his banishment he was found pouting but quickly came out it the pout when he heard Turt calling out

"SUNNY! Sunny! Hi! Oh Tui! Hi Bandit! Hi Oshi!"

"Hey Turt!" The girls called out "Sunny, whats got you down?"

He sighed "i left the firenation today"

"Woah woah, hold on, why did you leave- oh were you from there? Why would you leave?" Oshi pried.

"Uhm, I was banished for losing an agni kai against my dad"

"An Agn- thats a firebending duel! Your still just 13!" Turt cried out

"Yeah, well, my dad doesnt care about that, he made sure I'd remember that by burning me, now i have to find the avatar before I can return home"

Their conversation lasted for what felt like several blurry hours. When he woke it was to Iroh walking in with some tea. Zuko shot up and managed to get his blanket caught in his horns "AAAGH!" He growled out "help... please" iroh simply chuckled and untangled the blankets from Zuko's horns

"How was your sleep nephew?" Iroh asked as he started to pour them some tea, handing Zuko his cup.

"I talked to Oshi, Bandit and Turt again" he mumbled while bringing the cup to his lips and blowing some of the steam away.

"Thats good, were you able to discuss your banishment? I'm not sure if the dreams will let you, my soulmate and I have never met nor have we ever left our nations"

"Yeah, I was able to tell them everything, well the banishment and" he motioned to his now healing eye wound.

They had met a few more times over the next three years, Oshi revealing that she has a lion tail that is most certainly not as clumsy as Turt's consistently caught wolf tail.

About a week after Zuko arrived at the southpole and managed to lose the avatar there was another dream

"Sunny!" Turt sounded angry

"Uh, y-yeah?"

"You visited my tribe today" the ribbon around Turt was red

"Oh, uh yeah, I'm sorry. Did I hurt someone, I wasn't trying to, I just needed to grab the avatar"

"YOU DONT NEED THE AVATAR SUNNY!" Turt was fuming "youre chasing the avatar for what? The love of an abusive father?"

"He is Sunny! I dont know the full extent of it. But if he broke your horn, burnt you, and then BANISHED YOU all for speaking out of turn, then that spells abusive!! That level of abuse and your level of wanting to be back says clearly that you were neglected and abused, what the FUCK Sunny!"

Zuko was frozen but it wasnt silent

"We've been trying to tell you this Sunny, your dad is terrible and you deserve actual love, your uncle is a much better dad than him, and you know it" Oshi piped up

"Yeah, I know but-"

"And! If I ever get my hands on him, it'll be his last day alive. Mark. My. Words" Bandit cracked her knuckles

The dream went on for a while longer with the trio eventually convincing Zuko he shouldn't search for his fathers love by capturing the avater. Turt managed to convince him to join forces with the avatar the next time he saw them. The next time he met up with the avatar was on Kyoshi Island, where he entered the town without his armor or helmet, and instead wearing casual garmets.

"What are you doing here Zuko?" Katara growled at him with the hairs on her tail standing on end. Aang was behind her with his lemur tail flicking angrily.

"Well, im not here to capture you if that's what you think. I came to join you"

"Why would we ever believe that?" Aang's voice was nearly as angry as Katara's

Sokka was beside Katara in a similar stance but had yet to respond

"Well, I honestly don't expect you to believe me, unless any of you happen to be Turt, Oshi or Bandit." He paused "look I was burnt and banished at 13 by my own father just for speaking up in a war meeting about how cruel it was to sacrifice new recruites for a bigger win, and my father sent me out to find the avatar." He sighed "i would have continued but Turt and Oshi managed to help me understand where I was wrong in thinking and made me see just how abusive my dad is"

"Sunny?" Sokka finally spoke but was matched with one of the Kyoshi warriors

"Huh? I mean, yeah they call me that, wait are you Turt?" He then turned to the warrior and saw the lion tail "Oshi!?" He stepped back in a moment of surprise.

"Oh my gods Sunny what the hell!" The wolf and lion laughed

"Wait, Zuko is the Sunny you've been talking about!?" Katara and Aang said in unison.

From there out Zuko was a part of the team. Suki having to stay behind for the time being. The group traveled via Appa or by boat. Katara, Sokka and Iroh having lengthy in depth conversations about waterbending and pai sho. He may or may not have been making an attempt to recruit them both slowly but surely.

When they met Toph she put two and two together so fast. "You're Sunny and Turt!" She exclaimed before they duo could introduce eachother

"Wait! Bandit!" Thay said in unison

"The one and only Blind Bandit!" She said proudly.

After meeting with her Zuko became acquainted with a chaotic good type younger sister as apposed to his own chaotic evil. Toph would often launch herself into his shoulders, grab his horns and say "onward noble dragon steed!!" Which he didnt mind so he never complained much.

Let's fast forward to the desert. While Sokka Aang and Katara went into the library to explore, Zuko and Iroh stayed behind with toph to protect Appa, when the Sand benders arrived while the Library was sinking the two firebenders fought off the sandbenders until the trio emerged and they ran off. Zuko, however had fought practically tooth and nail to keep appa there, dodging sand and blasting fire to distract the benders when they tried to use the sand beneath his feet against him. He collapsed from the exhaustion of not only fighting with a dozen benders in their element, but also the heat of the sun. Iroh on the other hand asked Katara for a bit of water to make sure he didnt collapse as well.

"Zuko!" Aang cried out when he watched Zuko collapse in the sand. They all got back on Appa and made their way out of the dessert.

Not long after they stopped at a small body of water to rest and wash up Appa so he wouldn't be shedding and attracting anyone Zuko taking a hot minute to get his strength back. They were approached by a couple who happened to have a baby on the way and Zuko nudged Aang "we should take them with us, yknow, spread some joy"

So they flew the couple with them to Ba Sing Se with them. They managed to get in to tell the earth king their invasion plan, as well as taking down the dai li with the proof of the drill right outside the wall. Without having the advantage of the Kyoshi disguises Azula didnt manage to gain the upperhand against Ba Sing Se, and in turn she had no idea about the invasion plan. Aang had his crisis at Ember island before the invasion and met the lion turtle just before they had to leave.

When the invasion began Zuko and Aang both went off to the city, Zuko in his blue spirit get up with his swords on his back literally being dangled in the air by Aangs weirdly strong ass tail. When the landed on the roof, it was still a bit until the fire kicked off. So they were dodging fire balls while running towards the palace, however right before they went into the throne room Azula appeared. She went to shoot fire but was shocked to see no fire come out. Aang smirked and bended the earth around her to keep her in place.

They went in to Ozai, Zuko drawing his swords and Aang readying himself to fight a powerful bender who possibly had skills other than bending. But they were met with a practically powerless man who didn't take long to defeat, taking his life wasn't the option, however, Aang knew that, and so he took his bending away, to the absolute awe of Zuko who watched the blinding light for a moment before shielding his eyes.

After the success of the invasion Iroh took the throne when Zuko told him he was simply not ready. However Iroh made a deal with him, he would be firelord for all of 5 years, set the ground work for Zuko and let his nephew take up some studying in the other nations as well as his own to figure out how he would rule after the 5 years were up.

And he did, he gathered as much information from the other nations, all with Sokka joining with him. He spend a year at the south pole, helping rebuild the place, he spend a year at the northpole studying the scrolls available, he spent a year going to each large earth kingdom city, and then he spent his fourth year in the firenation reading every scroll he could. One night while in his room reading through a pile of scrolls he leaned onto Sokka's shoulder for support, but Sokka took the scroll out of his hands "alright enough reading for you tonight, come on little dragon its bedtime"

Sokka's tail was absentmindedly wagging side to side as he helped his soulmate undress and get into more comfortable clothes, of course getting the cloth stuck on those pesky horns a couple times. But soon they were both laying in bed with Zuko resting his cheek against Sokka's chest while Sokka ran his fingers through his hair.

They could stay like this forever. And wouldn't you know it, after Zuko took the throne he proposed to Sokka and the two were soon married, the Wolf and the Dragon.

At the wedding Toph and Suki were the first to show up, bringing gifts, Suki gave them a pair of gold fans, one with a turtleduck on it and the other with a sun on it. Toph on the otherhand had brought a dagger with a dragon carved on the blade and a wolfs head on the handle.

The Mechanic: Pt. 2

Summary: This is the second part to the first part of The Mechanic. Basically about Harley surviving the snap and becoming apart of Tony’s family. May or may not make more parts, we’ll see.

Tony was never the biggest fan of post-apocalyptic movies.

They were all so… unrealistic. If the world ended, the Avengers would be there to pick it back up. It wouldn’t resemble those over dramatic, grey skied dystopias where everybody is always depressed.

However, then the world actually ‘ended’. And the world may have not been completely like those movies, but it was pretty damn similar.

And that’s why Tony made it his number one priority to keep all sadness and despair away from his sweet little home in the woods. Away from his family.

Family.

Just a few years ago, Tony could barely say he had a family. There was Rhodey, and Happy, plus the rest of the Avengers, but in the end, Tony would go home to an empty house. Then, Pepper gave him a second chance, and even with the snap killing away someone he had held so close to his heart, he had found it in him to rebuild from the rubble.

That’s why now, as he picked up spare clothing around the house for the laundry, Tony cant help but stop and smile as his family peacefully sits in the living room. Not just his wife, but also Harley, who he had legally adopted not too long ago.

A very pregnant Pepper lay on the couch, reading whatever book she had picked out this time, with Harley, cross legged on the floor playing a video game. Tony wasn't quite sure what game he played, but he knew it managed to consume most of his attention as of late.

“Harley,” Pepper looked up from her book, barely managing to catch the teens attention. “Could you grab me a glass of water?”

Harley turned around, raising a brow at the glass sitting on the table.

“I got that one for you, like, five minutes ago. You already finished it?”

“There’s another human being in me, consuming almost everything I consume,” Pepper deadpanned. “Excuse me for being thirsty.”

Harley dropped the remote, holding his hands up and muttering a sorry as he went to complete the task.

“Don’t even try arguing with her,” Tony said quietly as Harley passed him. “Especially In this state, there’s no chance in winning without unleashing the monster.”

It earned him a small laugh, which was enough for Tony. When Harley had first begun living in the compound, there was rarely a smile on his lips. It was expected. His family was dead, he had just hiked for days with nothing but a small backpack and survivor’s guilt… it would be tough for him to get back to his usual self.

However, not too long after moving into the cabin, things started to look up. Pepper announcing she was pregnant. Planning for their small little wedding in front of the lake. A family was built from broken pieces, and though Harley would still wake in the middle of the night with nightmares, or have a breakdown at random moments if he happens to find something triggering, both Pepper and Tony were always there for him.

Harley left down the hall to retrieve the water, while Tony and Pepper returned to their tasks. The chiming of the doorbell broke concentration.

“F.R.I.D.A.Y, who is it?” Tony asked.

“Not sure, boss,” The A.I. responded, projecting an image on Tony’s watch. A man he didn’t recognize stood at the doorway awkwardly, dark haired and blue eyed. He frowned down at the picture.

“Who is it, Tony?” Pepper looked from her book, noticing her husband’s troubled expression. Tony shook his head, giving her a small smile.

“Probably just some lost hiker. I’ll go shoo him off,” Setting down his basket, Tony walked over to the door and opened it, giving the man a polite smile, while remaining alert in case of attack. “Can I help you?”

The man’s gaze shifted from his shoes to the now open doorway, clearly exhausted. There was something… familiar about him. Tony couldn’t quite place what.

“I… I’m sorry, I’m looking for two kids,” The man explained, running a frantic hand through his hair.

Tony’s heart dropped at his words, as pieces began to click together, He refused to give in just yet.

“Kids?” He repeated, clicking his tongue. “Not sure I can help you. Sorry about that,” Tony moved to shut the door, however, the man was quick to place a hand on it. Tony stared at the hand on his door, then back at the man. Some nerves this guy had.

“Harley and Sarah Keener,” The man continued, ignoring the hard set gaze Tony was giving him. “Please, I need to find them. I-I need to know if they’re still alive.”

“If you’re looking for someone, then go to the tombstones. Everyone dead is listed there,” Tony knew it was cruel to turn this man away, especially considering who he was. But he doesn’t care. He won’t jeopardize his family. “Other than that, I think you should leave.”

“They’re my kids, please!” The man exclaimed.

Tony knew. A part of him knew the second F.R.I.D.A.Y threw up the projection. However, there is a fine line between thinking you know, and actually knowing. And he has just crossed it.

“Please,” The man repeated, his voice cracking. “My name is Jack Williams, and if you know where they are-”

“Harley’s here,” Tony snapped, cutting him off. He could lie, turn him away. But that wasn't his choice, and he then realized that. Harley should have been able to make that decision on his own.

“W-what?” Jack’s brows furrowed in confusion.

“Harley’s in the kitchen right now,” Tony explained nonchalantly. “He lives with me and my wife now, after his mom and sister died. Oh, and after you decided to make a one way trip to 7-Eleven.”

Jack’s eyes gazed down as he processed the information. His ex: Dead. Daughter: Dead. But his son? Sitting inside that house, not a clue that his deadbeat father was waiting outside, hoping for some kind of reunion.

“Then let me see him,” Jack frowned at Tony, trying to step into the house. His path is immediately blocked.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Tony stares at him coldly, pushing his shoulders back. “You take one more step towards this door, and I’ve got about a hundred security protocols that I can initiate with just one word. And guess what? They all end with your ass six feet in the ground, and Harley doesn’t ever have to know you were here.”

Pepper has caught sight of what is going on at this point, silently watching her husband handle this. She would intervene, however, being as pregnant as she is, she doesn’t want to risk the baby.

“But I won’t,” Tony continued, easing the stiffness in his shoulders. No use getting worked up for this waste of space. “That’s Harley’s decision.” Jack opened his mouth to object, but the door had already been shut in his face.

“Tony?” Pepper sighed, searching her husband’s face for some kind answer. She’s become fluent in reading him, but this is an all new emotion all together. A fatherly one.

“Sorry that took so long, I found a spider and was trying to get it outta the house,”

Harley announced as he exited the kitchen, running a hand through his brown locks while carrying a chilled glass of water in the other. Pepper silently took it from him, trying her best to put on a grateful smile. It came out morbid.

Harley’s own smile faltered at her grim features, turning to Tony, who didn’t even attempt to cover the mixed feelings of emotions written across his eyes and lips.

“What’s going on?” The teenager turned between the two, clearly confused.

“Your father's here,” Tony doesn’t try to sugarcoat or ease into the topic. It’s best to just rip it off like a bandage, which he does, and Harley’s response is just as expected.

“W-what?” His voice was barely above a whisper, as if a lower tone would mean the words would just rewrite themselves.

“He wants to see you,” Tony stared at the floor, sliding his hands into his pockets.

“Did you tell him to go?” Harley asked, swallowing thickly. Tony gazed up, his brows furrowing together. Not angrily, but… sadly.

“No,” He shook his head. “It’s not my place to tell him to go. He’s not here for me,” Harley sucked in a sharp breath, wordlessly walking to the door. He walked in quick, loud steps, but there is a cave in his shoulders from the fear and nervousness. Why wouldn’t he be? He spent countless nights running to his parents’ bedroom for his father’s comfort, only to find an empty bed. With his mom working such long nights, Harley was basically the parent for his sister. He did his father’s job. And now he’s here, wanting some sort of relationship with the child he left behind.

What gives him the right? The anger boils in Harley, and he wants to yell, and scream at Jack. That’s all he wants, at this moment. And yet, all he can do is stand in front of the door with shaking hands. Like some sort of coward.

“I can tell him to go, Har,” Tony gently laid a hand on his shoulder.

“You don’t have to do this now,” Pepper added, to let him know he had both of their support. Harley shook his head, slowly wiggling out of Tony’s grasp.

“No. I can do this,” He stated firmly, praying they don’t see how badly his hand trembles as he opened the door.

A part of him hoped that Jack had already left, disappeared from his life for a second time.

His heart dropped when he saw him sitting on the steps of the porch.

As soon as he saw his son, Jack sprang up, hope filling his eyes. It was odd, the way he looked, to Harley. When you’re a child, you worship the ground your parents walk across. They are pure and sinless creatures who seem like Gods. But now? Harley realizes how flawed they really are.

Jack isn’t quite as tall as he had always imagined him. Taller than Tony and Pepper, but still an inch or two beneath Harley. He looks different, as well. It may be the stress, or age, but Harley doesn’t remember his father looking so disheveled, like someone had picked him hungover from a bar. Perhaps that’s exactly what this ‘look’ is.

“Hey, buddy,” Jack grinned, and it seemed to wide. Too fake. His eyes are the most unsettling part. They’re identical to Harley’s. Funny. With the lack of photos in the house, Harley had just always assumed his father had brown eyes. Guess not.

“Hello, Jack,” Harley blinked, trying his best to keep a stoic expression.

“How are you,'' Jack ignored the cold tone, his foot tapping anxiously. He looked up at the house, grinning. “Nice place you got here, huh? They treating you alright?”

“Better than you ever did,” He can’t help it. Harley’s still a teen. Meaning he can’t exactly hold back cruel comments. Not that this is mean. Jack doesn’t even know mean, yet.

“I deserve that,” Jack nodded, his smile vanishing. He walked forward suddenly, causing Harley to flinch. His entire body stiffened up when Jack deemed it okay to wrap him in a tight hug. “I’m so, so sorry, bud. I should’ve never left, I should have stayed with you and your-”

“Yeah, you should’ve,” Harley can’t be a feelingless robot anymore and just simply tell Jack to leave. He thought it would be that simple, but it's not. He yanked Jack’s hands off of him and pushed him away. “I was seven when you left! I was a kid! And now, you’re crawling back! Where do you get off thinking you can just do that?!” Harley screamed, his voice cracking at the end. Jack is stunned by the outburst.

“I-”

“Please, for the love of God, leave,” Harley rubbed his face, turning away as the tears begin to fall.

“Son,” Jack began softly, not giving up. “We’re family. After all that’s happened, family has to stick together.”

“No!” Halrey whipped around, no longer caring if Jack saw the broken pieces he caused. He jabbed a finger violently at his father’s chest. “You are not my family! You were never my family. My family is dead! They-” He cried, pointing at the door. “-are my family now. They love me, and they would never leave me one night because they felt ‘overwhelmed’. You’re a coward, and a deadbeat. You… You need to go,” Harley doesn’t wait for a reply. He can’t. He turned and rushed back inside..

His body shook violently in sobs as he slammed the door closed and fell to his knees. He’s thought of what to say to Jack’s face for years, and when the time comes? He can only get a few sentences out before the emotions rack up and cave in on him. It’s just like all those nights, when he feels so alone that it becomes too much to handle.

But this time, it’s different. Because he’s not alone. Harley is made very aware of that as soon as Tony’s arms wrapped around him, a safe haven from the cruel hands of his real father.

“It’s not fair!” Harley cried, running frantic hands through his hair. “Why does he get to live? Why does my mom and sister die and he gets to live?!”

“I know, kid,” Tony rubbed his back, sighing. “It’s not fair. But you did good out there,” Tony pulled back, staring Harley firmly yet kindly in the eyes. “I’m proud of you, kid.”

And that’s all Harley really needs to hear. A phrase he didn’t have the privilege of hearing very often of growing up. A phrase he had never heard from his father.

And yet, that’s the difference between Jack and Tony. Jack is Harley’s father. But Tony?

Tony is the closest thing to Harley’s dad. To his home. He and Pepper both. And Harley will take that.

While Mikasa kept on wondering all confused “ Why does it feel like...Eli is being tensed or worried due to something!”

As soon as the thought strikes her...Mikasa ‘s protective instinct immediately activated...as Mikasa frowns “ Is he hiding something from me!”

Eli closes the door behind him quickly as he starts to take deep breaths. He gulps hard as he started to feel all nervous....he never really lies to his mom & has always been honest with her.

But today....he had to lie....or else his mom would be super upset with him knowing he didnt attend school today instead ran away even bit far due to his over flowing emotions! And he hates to make his mom upset....if his mom gets to know the truth not only she will be upset, she will be mad at him too for running away like this....!

Eli could feel himself shaking slightly as he slides down the door and sits on floor...

What's happening to him! Why was he feeling scared all of sudden!

All of sudden flashes of those pair of deep green eyes came to his mind...

Eli gasps....that man....he followed him all the way....to give him his water bottle! But How come he didnt notice him back then in that barren destructed area....

Eli remembers that silhouette hovering over him from behind....Was that...that guy?

But....he didnt saw anyone there! Eli could feel a gush of fear running through his veins...

He never felt this much scared in his life....it wasnt only fear....but it is something else which is haunting....him!

Was he scared of those two men who almost bullied him & he was about to hit them back! No....he has started fight & opposed many....but he never felt such ever! He isnt afraid of anyone....

Eli tries to calm his breathing to make his mind stable....

If he keeps on shaking like this & be nervous all time....his mom would surely caught his lie perfectly!

Nor that he ever escaped by telling lies to her....he didnt even lie much....due to his mom's super active nervous system! She surely detects his made up stuffs so he in the end just stopped making them up....Eli bets already that his mom must have already identified something....

Lost in the thoughts Eli suddenly freaks out as he hears a loud knock on the door of his room...

“ Eli....Have you change your uniform yet? Come down honey....I have cooked your favourite dish today!”

Eli starts panicking as he quickly push himself to the door so that Mikasa cant open the door & come in.

Hearing a thud against the door concerns Mikasa as she asks “ Eli....Hey! Is everything alright? Should I come in?”

Eli freaks out as he says hurriedly “Noooo....I....I am fine Mom! Just err....I am coming...”

Mikasa with doubtful voice- Err....Well...Okay I am waiting....Hurry! The food will be cold...

Saying this Mikasa hesitantly leaves from there while Eli pushes his ears against the door as he hears his mom's foot steps fading away making him believe that she actually left!

Eli sighs in relief....he better acts all normal infront of his mom Now....or else she will really be mad at him!

As Eli munches the bread & steak together....Mikasa keenly notices Eli is lost in some thoughts as he eats his lunch...

His little adorable face was reflecting worry & tension moreover Eli wasnt even looking at her all these while....it was like he was trying not to make an eye contact with Mikasa! And Mikasa well knows he does it when he tries to hide sommething...

Taking a bite from the bread , Mikasa from no where breaks the sillence “ Hiding something Eli?”

Eli stiffens as he looks up at His mother- Huh?

Mikasa boringly- You wanna spill the beans?

Eli stammers a bit but raises his voice- Huh? What...Wh...at are you talking about?

Mikasa shrugs as she stares at Eli with a suspicious look and replies all calm “ You know Eli....your face reflects everything! So....is everything okay? Like in school? You might share with me!”

Hearing the word school , Eli in his high pitch tone replies “ Damn Mom! Whats wrong with you? SINCE I HAVE COME HOME YOU JUST KEEP ON SUSPECTING ME AS IF I DID SOME KIND OF CRIME! I HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS!”

Saying so Eli runs upstairs shocking Mikasa as she calls him back from behind “ Eli Wait...What the hell is wrong with ya! Come down right now....”

Mikasa hears sound of closing the door with force from upstairs....she was hell confused with such behaviour!

She kept on staring upstairs wondering did she actually say something wrong this time! She was simply asking her son to open up and share his problems with her!

Mikasa calls again “ Eli! Eli! Are you hearing me? Come down!”

Getting no response from Eli....Mikasa sits back on the chair with a huff...

Mikasa feels empty all over inside....She isn't understanding what she have to do to make Eli understand that she only cares for his safety! After all these time she has only lost her close ones every now and then....And now she only have Eli!

She cant afford to loose him....now..

(Flashback) ( 5 Hours Back To Mikasa Armin Conversation )

Armin says hesitantly- Will you be able to forgive him even if he returns from his grave?

Mikasa being emotionless- I dont know what are you talking about...

Armin became suddenly furious- You know very well What I am talking about! Eren might be our friend but that doesn’t change the fact that he has killed so many people during the rumbling & before....This world wont forgive him....Neither me...even if he is dead...

Mikasa snaps at Armin- Really? Then this should also apply with Annie too? Doesnt it? She killed so many people too for whatever reason....if you can give her a second chance....no you not only gave second chance....you eventually fell in love with murderer Armin...then Why not Eren? He had reasons for his actions & you in the end accepted his actions & we all created an Aly with him....What happened now Armin?

Armin astonished- Oh Wooo Hold On! We allied with him cause we had no other options after what he did...even if it was good for the mankind....Does it really change truth? Will it change the viewpoint of people? And about Annie...I never forgave her for what she did to our people in scouts! And she knows it too .... we just settled an understanding between us...But here we are talking about Eren Yeager...He almost exterminated people around the island of paradis...he is known as humanity's enemy...no matter what we consider him as...this fact wont change...and this is the only danger for Eli ‘s life!

Mikasa remains mum and stares at the blonde’s blue eyes...

As he continues- Listen Mikasa you might think I hate Eren now or Something like that....But to be honest I cant hate him! For god sake he was my best friend but at same time he had done crimes which cant be ignored....honestly I feel...it is good that he is gone!

Mikasa gave a look at Armin which clearly was murderous but Armin continued inspite of that “ Cause my concern is Eli....I wonder how will he react when he will know his father's truth...I know you are not planning to tell him anytime soon but one day he will learn! One day people will learn his truth....And I am afraid for that day...And due to this I believe Eren is dead for good! Atleast as time will pass by...people will tend to get adjust with history while rumours of Eli being Eren's son will soon fade & Eli existence wont be a problem for them...but if Eren appears from nowhere in your life which wont be but incase if such a miracle happens...it wont be good for Eli!”

Mikasa doesnt say a word...just kept on staring at Armin....

Her eyes were blank & empty but he could notice the pain in them which she was trying to supress....his intention was not to hurt her...but he had to speak the fact so that she can start accepting it.

Realising Mikasa wont say anything....Armin decides to leave...

He turns around and was about to step toward the door when he halts and looks at Mikasa “ I have no business in telling what to do & what not! But I want to suggest you tell Eli the truth of his father before he comes to know from else where! And try to understand him Mikasa....dont lock him up in this house! It wont help but will only make him lonely....Handle him with care thats all I wanna say!”

(Flashback ends)

Mikasa sighs....thinking of what Armin said! She doesnt know what Armin said was right or wrong! She knows one thing...Armin was right about Eren's deeds...

He has killed people & that wont change...can she forgive him for that? She doesnt know...& she doesn't agree to Armin ‘s not able to forgive Eren behaviour!

She wont be judging Eren's behaviour unless she gets to know proper reason for hid actions....there were so many unspoken words between them...

He promised her he will return alive to her after everything is fixed....no matter what he promised this time he would come back to his home...thats Her!

She could feels her cheeks getting wet again....Mikasa wipes her tears off hurriedly as she tries to control her emotions....

She might not really care about his sins now , what matters to her that he should be alive....Armin cant be right about this...he cant be DEAD! EREN NEEDS TO COME BACK...

But right now she has to take care of someone else...she will make everything Alright for her little baby...

Mikasa gets up from the seat as she heads upstairs...

Gigantic monsters were running towards one direction....there were plenty of them...steam were coming from all sides...

Eli was laying on ground as he opens his eyes to the sound of rumbling....

He was in state of shock as he looks around.....

Those creepy monsters were all around him....as if like their prime aim is to hunt him down...

Eli starts screaming in fear as his eyes become blurry due to tears...

Eli cries out as he stands on his feet “ Mom....Mom....Save me! Mom....Help!”

He tries to look around for his mom but seems like he was all alone in that huge field....

Without wasting time he started running to opposite direction where he saw a gap to escape from those huge humanoids....

Eli was trying to run as fast as he could but those monsters were faster than him......all he could do was run & run & not look back....

He was breathing rapidly....his small legs were hurting....as he kept on running all he could see was death bodies all around him...they were scouts...

Eren's eyes widen as he could identify those uniforms on dead bodies ....it was same as uncle Armin ‘s.

He was scared now more....what happened here?! He didnt know and doesnt care....he needs to search his mother...

Eli cried out if fear as he kept running “ Mom.....Mom.....”

He turns back and was shocked to hell as he saw those monsters so close to him, one hand was trying to reach him as he doges his head from the clutch....of the monster...

All of a sudden Eli freaks out in fear as a monster body just falls infront of him....scaring the hell out of him as he starts wailing loudly....

But then he realises the Monster wasnt moving as blood spilled out from its neck and steam was coming out..

How did it die! But there is no time to wonder....as Eren found himself standing infront of a huge monster which was smiling at him....not exactly but its teeth and face were like it was smiling...it had a different body structure....

Eli couldn't move a bit...he completely froze at its spot...the gigantic hand was approaching towards him....his voice wasnt coming out....his tears just dried out as he felt completely frozen and in shock stage....

The hand was about to make a grip on him when he suddenly found himself being carried out by another monstrous hand as it took him far away from that smiling monster clutch but surprisingly the monstrous grip wasnt hard or rough...it held him delicately....Eli slowly looks around...to see who was this...

With fear & tears in his eyes he stares at it & he was just shocked to what he just saw...Eli finds out a human coming out from the nape of monster....

He couldnt clearly see the face but their eyes met as the monstrous hand brought him closer to him .....

The green eyes stared deeply into his as he speaks “ You Are Safe...”

Eli couldnt speak a word instead he was just staring back at his eyes....

The eyes.....spoke something different to him but before he could see his face....Eli finds himself falling from the monsters hand as some one cuts his hand off....

Eli screams out of his lungs but before any thing could happen....that same green eyed man held him this time by his own hand....and stopped him from falling as he was hanging in air...

He speaks “ Dont worry Eli...I wont let anything happen to you”

Everything started to vanish around while the little green eyed boy stared at the green eyed DEVIL...

And just then Eli started to realise something he has seen those pair of eyes before too....

“ Aaaaaa.....Wait......”

Eli wails out as he opens his eyes wide as he tries to hold something in air....

Hearing his loud scream....Mikasa opens her eyes quickly as she raises her head up from the bed....

Mikasa finds out Eli staring at the ceiling while his one hand was raised in the air making a fist....

Mikasa worried as she quickly gets up from ground and sits on Eli's bed besides him.

All this time Mikasa was siting near Eli's bed when she found Eli slept off after retorting her back...

The sun had already set....and the time was nearing to night....more likely past the evening...

All these while she was only staring at her child's face lovingly which resembled so much like Eren when he used to be sleeping....Eli looked so calm when his eyes were closed and he was in deep slumber....

Mikasa ran her hand through his black hair trying to not wake him up & let him sleep so that his anger subsides....during this she herself doesnt know when her eyes closed and she slept putting her head on his bed..

Her sleep just broke when she heard Eli ‘s loud scream out of fear....

Mikasa as she quickly pulled Eli out of bed and brought him close to her chest...

She noticed tears in corner of his eyes & cheeks completely wet...which implies he has been crying all these while...

Worry took place on Mikasa as she hugged him closely and asked softly “ Eli What happened baby? Did you have a bad dream?”

Eli clutches her gown in fear as he hugs her in return, only whispers absent minded “ That Man....I Saw....”

Mikasa could hear his blabbering...

She pulled his face back so that she could stare at him while breaking his trance....

Mikasa asks “ Sweet heart! You okay? What happened?”

And Just then Eli realises he was in his home near his mom....

Eli in his child like voice as tears fell “ Mumma...I...we... are at home!”

Mikasa rubbing of his tears “ Yes Eli we are at home....Did you have a bad dream?Why are you crying?”

Eli stares back at Mikasa with his wide eyes shocked....as realisation hits him upon...

Those eyes....he dreamt of those eyes....so many times....and today....

Wait he saw those eyes somewhere....flashes of that limping stranger face came on his mind at once....when he stared at him with his green eyes....

Eli freaks out “ That man....I saw that man....”

Mikasa confused “ What man are you talking about Eli?”

Eli looks at Mikasa shocked and realises he wont be telling his mother about that man he met today & that his eyes resembles to the man's eyes which oftenly comes in his dreams & everytime saves him from those monsters....but who is that man? How come he arrives in his dreams! And those monsters....

Eli hugs his mom out of fear as he starts crying.. water pouring down his eyes as he sniffs..

Mikasa was terrified “ Eli....What happened? Dont get scared....Mumma is here and everything will be fine!”

Eli stammers as he cries- mom...m...I saw those monsters again....

Mikasa stiffens a bit knowing well what he was talking about....

Eli continues as he cries “ They almost caught me but I ran and ran....I searched you mom but you werent there....I was all alone... I....was scared...”

Mikasa rubbing his back as she tries to calm him down as his voice was breaking her own heart “ Sssh Eli...Everything is fine....I am here now with you! Ssh you are safe!”

Eli whimpers “ Mom....why...t..those th...ings come in my dreams! And that man...”

Eli stops as he realises what he was spilling....but mikasa caught his word as she asks worriedly ” Which man?”

Eli taking deep breath as his cries subsided a bit “ Its...A....man everytime...rescues me”

He carefully said the truth without revealing much....

Mikasa remains silent for a while as she cuddles Eli and says while placing kiss over his hair “ See....In the end you are safe....thats what matters”

Eli curiously as he looks at his mom “ But those monsters....why do they always try to harm me? From many years....they only come in my dreams....do they really exist mom?”

Mikasa knows the feeling of seeing those monsters in dreams....she also experiences same thing but difference is she only sees Eren leaving her alone forever, disappearing into a group of titans....and never returning back...

But one thing she never understood why and how does Eli gets those dreams? He never got to know about titan existence not yet...he never experienced those fears which she and Eren did then how...

Eli calls her out breaking her thoughts “ Mom....”

Mikasa looks back at Eli and smiles “ No they dont....there is no such things which exist...its all in your head..dont worry nothing will harm you...I wont let anyone do that...”

Mikasa hugs her son as she pats his back while Eli remains lost in thoughts wondering how come those green eyes in his dreams matches with that limping stranger’s green eyes when such gigantic monsters dont even exist...

Does that mean that green eyed saviour is REAL?

in which you needed a plus one for a work event and yuta was conveniently there to aid you,,and maybe even more.

a/n: i’ve officially gotten out of my slump (i hope hehehe) so this is pretty long. oh and i swear this fic sounds better than you think. enjoy!

12.19am

if anyone knows you, they’d know how much your work means to you. everything else comes second to your work. your family complains about how you take it too seriously most of the time and that you should consider taking a break. so when the day comes that you finally decide to bring yourself on a vacation, they might as well mark it as a public holiday.

as you were packing for your trip in the two hours you had left before you had to depart, you received a call from your boss. a part of you was glad because maybe you could, in fact, ditch this trip and get back to work. the other part of you was a little disappointed because you did plan the whole trip by yourself.

'' y/l/n, i need you to stand in for me at the Japanese Media Conference in Osaka, the night after tomorrow.'' your boss ordered casually. ''and do bring a plus one. that should suffice. you'll need to prepare a sum of money enough for a pair of outfit for you and your plus one. please be there by 8 and dress nicely. thank you.'' he added only to hang up abruptly.

though you were shocked, you were more frustrated because how in the world are you going to find a boy willing enough to go to a conference all the way in Japan. just as you were about to deliver the news to your parents, you saw them come in with a bag of medication and toiletries with wide smiles on their faces.

so when they asked you, " where's our baby going? you haven't told us yet!", you softly replied to them, "i guess i’m going to japan!" they cheered and your anger washed away. it was one thing to have tiny accomplishments celebrated by yourself, but to see your loved ones do it, they seem ten times more valid. so without complaints, you rushed out the door waving to your parents, with the boarding pass you printed at most 20 minutes ago.

5.48 pm.

pacing about door 27, you were frustratingly waiting for your uber that was said to have arrived 5 minutes ago. well, whoever Nakamoto Yuta was, he should have a valid explanation as to why he was late. but in that exact moment, you saw a black sedan car appear in front of you.

the windows of the car were rolled down and you see a man with purple hair greeting you with a rather attractive smile but you had to keep your cool.

"are you miss y/n?" he flashes you the smile once more.

"yes and you're late. i'm rushing for something here." you responded almost simultaneously to which he nodded and rolled up his windows. but before he did it fully, you stopped him.

"aren't you going to help me with my bags? i cant possibly carry it myself.” you gave an exasperated sigh. he chuckled and rolled the windows back up, with no intent of helping you out. 'asshole', you thought. but the truth was that's what yuta thinks too, because he was sure your screen said arriving in 5 mins...but sure he'll let you have it.

you took the seat diagonally behind him and sat quietly for at least 20 full minutes through the ride, occasionally looking at his prettily coloured hair. he was the one to break the silence.

"so your bag isn't that heavy after all?" he mocks you.

"well, isn't it basic courtesy to have a driver help you with your bags?" you heard him huff in an annoyed manner, causing your ride continue its silence until you arrived.

upon arrival, you immediately changed out to your more appealing outfit so that you could head to the pub, in search of a plus one. but the longer you stayed at the pub, you remembered exactly why you’d rather be a workaholic. so you gave up and decided to book an uber back home. too tired to bother, you went into the car that stopped in front of you, hoping that it was the right one.

"must be a tough day for a prissy princess like you, ey?" you hear a familiar voice from the driver's seat. your head shot up and you saw from the rear view mirror, the last face you'd wanna see. "oh piss off, nakamoto."

"call me yuta."

"i'm not in the mood."  you replied, before glancing to the front to steal a peek.

if you were being honest, you were really bothered by yuta on the ride home. you began noticing the little details about him. like the shape of his button nose, and how his hair isn't just purple, it's a really pretty ash purple. 'he's okay looking, huh?' you processed. and then it hit you. a decent looking man, who by chance you have been acquainted to, who is also a fluent japanese speaker and ,fortunately, owns a car. a sleek one in fact. and so you made a decision.

as he drove to the front of your hotel, you stayed still in the car with no intent of leaving. he turned around and lifted his eyebrows at your antics. you took a deep breath, thinking 'here goes nothing'.

"i have a proposal to make in which i am expecting you to accept. i need someone...okay looking, especially with a car, to be my partner for a day...or a few." you started. "you dont have to do much. just sit still, look pretty."

"why would i need to help you? i'm working tomorrow. besides-"

"i'll pay you."

"i'm all ears."

" i know you need the money, considering this job," he narrows his eyes at you. "so i'll give $600 for this event you attend and you get to keep the suit." his previously narrowed eyes now widened all the way at your offer. you gestured for him to give his phone. "i need you to pick me up tomorrow by 8am so we can go get your suit and my dress. don't be late.”

8.07 am.  

of course he's late. even though you were afraid he'll decide not to turn up, you had to remain cool. but exactly 5 minutes later he arrives, in a floral print shirt with light brown bermuda shorts and a pair of slides, hair unkempt. ugly, you thought. but as you thought so, he winks at you and it crossed your mind, well maybe not at all.

"you're seven minutes late. how am i supposed to trust that you'll reach on time tonight?" you complained. he just shrugged and proceeded to lead you into his sedan car.

the both of you headed to the nearest shopping district to run your errands. after a few hours of shopping, your hands were filled with shopping bags yet you still weren’t sure what yuta picked out. he insisted that you should trust his sense and let it be a secret. yuta was leisurely walking with just a bag of items while you were struggling to balance with all the stuff you bought.

"if only someone was gentleman enough to help me carry my stuff especially since this man beside me, isn't one." you said it a little too loudly in hopes that it'll embarrass him.

yuta laughed it off, completely unphased by your actions. so you continued walking at a fast pace until you heard him jog towards you and felt his hand brushed against yours, causing you to pause. he somehow managed to maneuver the shopping bags so that it would rest on your interlocked hands, so it looked as if the both of you were carrying the bags together. he brushed his thumb against your fingers, which made your heart do a thing. he gave a smug look and you let go, leaving him to carry it instead.

you got in the car, avoiding any form of conversation with yuta, but on the way back, he kept stealing glances at every stop he took. his actions made you nervous, which wasn't super abnormal as you're never usually affected .

7.48pm.

you could tell it was him by the way he knocks on the door. you opened the door slowly and-  

holy freaking grail.

he was stunning. oh so beautiful. you were in awe. he wasn't lying about his sense of fashion. maroon velvet suit with black innerwear which complements your black seude midi dress. his hair parted just enough to showcase his glowing forehead. earrings, 3 on one side and 2 on the other, contrasting his well-groomed look with a little bit of rebel. how intelligent.

"aren't you gonna let me in or are you not done ogling me?"

"n-no let's just uh- let's leave now. we're..ahem.. we can just be early..." you stuttered, pushing him out.

you arrived at your destination 20 minutes later and was astounded by the beauty of it. you turned to your left to look at osaka’s skyline, what a beauty. you turned right to look at yuta and you started to wonder, maybe everything in Japan is stunning. yuta offered you his arm and you slid into it like it was made just for you.

the whole conference was pretty boring but you had to keep yourself awake for your boss's sake. it wasn't until the dinner when you actually had a lot of fun. although yuta wasn't exactly a gentleman that night, you could tell he was trying. like when he took his food, it was a portion just enough for two. or when he pulled the chair out from the table intending to sit there but acting as if it wasn't a good enough spot so he offered you instead. you appreciated the subtlety more than you expected.

you noticed the speaker from earlier approaching your table and you stiffened.

"you know if you keep doing that, the whole hall will be able to tell that i'm a stranger to you." yuta whispered.

before you could answer him, you felt his hand rest on the crook of your back. he knew you were nervous so when you felt him caress your back gently, you appreciated it. he left as you were speaking to your boss’s clients, taking down notes for his future plans. the night wasn’t that bad, here and there you heard whispers about how gorgeous your boyfriend looked unlike you, but thats about it. after your exchange session, you searched high and low for yuta, silently hoping he wasn’t somewhere trying to hook up with some woman 10x richer or better looking than you are.

after searching for a good 15 minutes, you saw him near the fountain talking to someone. although you felt obligated to get annoyed, as your plus one, you felt warm. he looked way too engaged telling a story to a 7 year old girl. he turned to see you staring at him. he waved at you, at the same time getting the little girl to do the same. she didn’t seem too keen to do so.

“i think we can leave now. we need to prepare for tomorrow’s event.” you said, grabbing a hold of yuta’s elbow.

the little girl tugged at yuta’s sleeves and she whispers, “i don’t like her very much. mr nakamoto, can you continue the story?” to which you frowned and rolled your eyes, unintentionally. your actions caught yuta off guard and he burst out laughing at your child-like behaviour. or cute behaviour but yuta wont admit it

“i’m sorry, princess, but my grandmother here has forced me to leave with her or i won’t be able to return home for tonight. i’ll see you around!” the little girl chuckles and wave at yuta, not before giving you a glare.

“i hate kids.”

“are you jealous because a seven year old has more game with me than you do?”

“don’t flatter yourself, nakamoto.”

“count yourself lucky that i think you’re cute.”

well yeah, that stuck on your mind the whole night.

who in the right mind would have a formal event at 9 in the morning? there you were half awake, engaging with 10 people at one go, when its barely noon while yuta was at the back treating himself with the pancakes served. he was dressed formally as if he was supposed to attend a Sunday morning tennis match, when everyone else was in a polo tee and jeans. you’re sure he bought that outfit just so he could use it for another day, knowing he was able to keep it.

on that particular morning, you met johnny, the son of the CEO of a well-known entertainment company in Chicago. he’s tall, lean, very attractive, funny and the list goes on. if you weren’t married to your career, you’d so be into him. but you want to know who isn’t? nakamoto yuta. the moment he heard you burst a giggle instead of a laugh, he lifted his previously buried-in-pancakes face to scan across the crowd, seeing you with johnny.

he almost immediately threw away his half-eaten pancake and strut his way towards you but before he could do anything to get at johnny, you and johnny part ways much to yuta’s relief. throughout the whole event, you could feel his eyes on you, unconsciously looking out for any competition. it was funny though because when you try to look back he’d act as if he’s much rather be somewhere else. what a fool.

the event took up more than half of your afternoon so when you returned from it you were dead tired. yuta sent you to the door but seeing how GONE you were he needed to make sure you were fully awake while cleaning yourself. you took more than an hour as he waited on the sofa, he did sleep though. you sat beside him and watched him peacefully. his hair covering both his eyes, you were so tempted to touch it. purple never looked so good on a man. despite hesitating, you brushed his hair behind his ears, causing him to rest deeper into your palm. a soft smile crept up your lips as he did so.

“you should smile like that more often when you look at me. my heart does things when you do that.” he says with his eyes closed.

stunned, you pulled your hand away, forcing him to scram. he left with a smile on his face, satisfied with how flustered you were.

“what do you mean you cant make it? it’s the last event. i need you to be there with me-“

“i need to run some errands. i’ll try my best and make it in time.” yuta replies.

you weren’t gonna lie but a huge part of you grew dependent on him so when you were forced to attend it alone, it felt foreign.

and indeed it was. the entire time you were there, you started missing him. when things got awkward you realised there was no one to turn to. or when the speaker said something unfunny, you’d laugh, thinking about what yuta would say in response. it was as if the entire night revolved around him and you hated it because you only realised his importance when he wasn’t around.

as you were eating, you felt someone approach you, deeply hoping it was yuta. but as you turned, you saw johnny. he was dressed in a sleek black suit with a bow tie. what a heartthrob.

“where’s your lover boy?”

“he’s busy running some errands. such a momma’s boy.” you said while unintentionally sulking.

understanding that you were bored at the event, johnny decided to accompany you. for a moment you forgot about yuta and you were thankful for that. but as you were intending to grab a quick bite with johnny, you heard johnny saying something and before you could ask him to repeat, you peeked behind his tall figure to see a good looking japanese man looking at you. seeing that you were comfortable with johnny, he approached you and gave you a kiss on your cheek, lingering longer than expected. to say your heart skipped a beat would be an understatement. it was as if it your heart entirely stopped and then you were resurrected by the touch of his lips.

“you smell...nice. i’m sorry i’m late.” he pulled away and wrapped his pinky around yours. “oh, johnny! didnt see you there. if you dont mind, y/n and i have somewhere to be.” and then he led you away.

“why didn’t you call me?”

“surprise, isn’t it? i was intending not to come but i knew someone would want to hit on you.” he replied casually, pinky still wrapped around yours. “let’s get out of here while we can.”

as the two of you walked out, he put on a jacket, that smelt like him, on you. you gave him a look of bewilderment.

“yuta, it’s 30 degrees. i dont need your jacket.”

“just take it. this is in case i need an excuse to see your face again in the future.” you heartily laughed at him.

you would think he brought you to somewhere romantic, as you ran away from a formal event. instead he took you to a nearby fast food restaurant, claiming that that was the essence of a japanese trip. as he indulged himself in the cheeseburger, you felt a pang in your chest remembering how your journey with him had to end in a few hours. it was as if he could sense that you felt down. so being yuta, he tried turning the atmosphere around.

“this cheeseburger would taste wayyy better if someone wasn’t staring daggers onto the top of my pretty head.”

it didnt work, in case you’re guessing. it just made you feel worse because, damn you’re gonna miss this idiot. so in response, you shoved your milkshake away and groaned, so loudly it’s possible that the whole diner went silent because of you.

you peeked up and you saw him staring down at you with an eyebrow raised. you were so close to risking it all and confessing your feelings towards him but your ego wouldn’t let you do so. instead, you calmed your face and pretended as if nothing happened. it’s hard to do so especially when you saw how comfortable your legs intertwined under the table. even your sub-conscience wanted the both of you close.

the whole night was a blur. you remember subtle hand touching and embracing from both parties but nothing major happened. to be honest, you were beyond grateful. just a few more seconds before the coast was clear. you waved your goodbye to him. you tried to shut the door before you did anything stupid. but...you were too late.

“i’m sorry excuse me?”

“i think i was being pretty obvious with how i feel about you. i wouldnt have let you hold my hand for a prolonged period if i didnt like you, dont you think? if you expect me to give you a heartwarming confession, about how i’d love to spend more time with you and how i wouldnt mind if you’d like to date me, then you thought wrong.” you said in one breath.

“...”

“an ‘i like you too’ would help me not feel like an idiot.”

“urm, look, there’s a lot of things that i do like about you but i just dont think i can respond to your confession right now. i’m so sorry.” yuta replied softly.

and he left. this time he wasn’t late to leave.

you still felt like an idiot. the moment you woke up, as you ate your breakfast, when you packed your luggage, the whole time you felt like one. and you couldnt blame anyone but yourself. when you looked around, it was as if japan was stripped off its beauty, now that the one thing you associate that with is no longer within your reach.

even as you were on the way to the airport, you felt like a complete fool. when you arrived in japan and got your uber, the first thing you saw when you lifted your head was a pretty shade of purple. your uber back to the airport had a view that was an awful scene of badly dyed hair. how in the world were you going to forget the fact that you ever met nakamoto yuta?

as you arrived at the airport, you were so reluctant to leave. every step you took felt like there was an anchor weighing you down. of course, you were being dramatic because all you did was give him a confession. but believe me, because its someone with an ego like yours, it’s the end of the world.

you were waiting for the lift when a man with blonde hair grabbed your luggage from your hands. and he began saying something incomprehensible. so you let out a loud ‘hmm?’.

“i need to return some of your things and take back what’s mine.” you hear a familiar voice. you didnt want to believe it but the minute you turned your head, there he was. nakamoto yuta. but being you, the first thing you responded was, “why are you blonde?”

he groaned and pulled you to the side before you could say anything else. instead of responding he returned the suit that you gave him, as well as the sportswear and even his headband. he took out his wallet to return you the money you paid him for the events. he rummaged through his bag to ensure he returned everything you gave him and then he paused, as if trying to process whether he was going to do it and he gave the look of surrender. he opened up your suitcase to take back his jacket and a part of you broke. you felt as if he didnt want to see you again.

but before you could even begin to feel sad, you saw him crouch in front of you, hands on your back and your calves. suddenly, you were lifted. you hit yuta’s chest and he calmly responded.

“i told you i’m taking back what’s mine.”

“did you suddenly watch a rom-com last night and decide that this is the best way to win back my heart? because it’s not working.” you sulked but he gave you an innocent look. you finally understood what being wrapped around someone’s finger felt like.  

as you were nearing the exit, he put you down and held you with one hand, the other on the suitcase as he led you to his familiar car.

“i have a proposal to make in which i am expecting you to accept. i need someone...okay looking, who doesn’t need to have a car, to be my partner to introduce to my family.” yuta mocked. "you dont have to do much. just sit still, look pretty, so you might want to try a little.” then he looked at you and gave you his biggest smile as he mouthed “i’m sorry. please be my girlfriend.” there was no way you were able to say no.

and so he drove into the city of osaka, and you looked around only to realise, japan had never been stripped off its beauty. all that you saw was filtered by yuta, causing it to look ten times as beautiful. but thats the beauty of getting to know yuta because now life has never been more full of colour.

“Hi cutie.” You say as you reach down and pick the giggling baby up from her crib.

“Ooh you’re getting such a big girl.” You place her on your chest and bounce her up and down a bit. “You hungry? Yeah I think you’re hungry.” You walk from the bedroom and into the kitchen, heating her up a bottle. “We should feed you and then go for a walk, how does that sound?” She gurgles in response pulling a bit of hair from your bun. “Okay.” The microwave pings and you walk over to the sofa and reposition her in your arms ready to feed her.

She was 6 months old now so you had slowly started weaning her off being breast fed and moving onto bottles before solid food.

Her hands were wrapped around the bottle as she stared at you with her big brown eyes, something she’d inherited from you rather than her dad.

“After this baby we’ll go and see if your daddy is back, yeah?” She finishes her bottle and you pick her up, placing her lightly over your shoulder to pat her back and burp her.

While you burp her, you move around the room, placing her used bottle in the sink and then getting her a blanket to keep her warm.

“Alright angel, lets go.” You lay her on the bed before wrapping her in her blanket and picking her back up. She was so tiny to say she was 6 months old, you’d never seen a baby so small.

You leave the room and lock the door, “Miss Y/N, Tony wants you in the common room.” Friday sounds just as you’re leaving. “Thanks Friday.”

You make your way to the common room to see Tony and Steve.

“Hey guys.” They barley look at you, faces to the floor, “What’s going on?”

Tony gestures to the sofa, “Take a seat.” You do so, sitting down and repositioning Elisa so you can bounce her on your knees and keep her settled.

“Again, What’s going on?” Steve sits next to you as the confusion is evident on your face. He takes Elisa from you and holds her in his arms. “We er, there was a mission this morning, that me, Nat, Sam and Bucky went on.” You nodded, you knew this because Bucky woke the baby up as he was leaving and it took you ages to get her to stop crying.

“Well, things went south, Buck, he- he went rouge, we’ve lost all communication with him, we can’t track him, we have no clue where he is.” You listen to his words anxiously. “You lost my husband?” Steve’s head drops and he looks at the little girl in his arms as she plays with his fingers. “We’re doing everything we can to find him, we just wanted you to know that he’s missing, and we only have another 10 hours to find him before it becomes official.” You cough, “Where were you?” You rub your hands over your face, “South Carolina. A military operation went wrong and they wanted us to track rouges.” Pressing your fingers to your forehead, “He wouldn’t of just gone off, what the hell happened?” Elisa gurgles as she puts one of her hands in her mouth, “We thought it’d be better if me, Sam and Buck went with us all being ex officers we figured we’d understand the situation better, which worked at first but then one of the officers we were tracking disappeared so we split up and I found the officer and me and Sam met back up at the base but Bucky never came back, we waited hours for him, Sam even did an aerial search of the area but it was like he just vanished.” You purse your lips, “Where is Sam now?” You look at Elisa who is leaning against her god father, her fingers wrapped around his hand. “Still in South Carolina, he stayed as a precaution in case he came back but no luck. His com’s have been off since he disappeared too.” You just nod, “Tony, What’s the process now? We need to find him.” You stand up and walk over to him. “Don’t worry we will, we have intel going into the base, searching the area. The best agents will also be sweeping the area for forensics and anything that’ll lead us to him. Don’t worry we’ll find him.” He’s interrupted by Friday, “Mr Stark, the Secretary of State is in your office.” He excuses himself and leaves the room.

Steve stands up and walks over to you, “We’ll find him.” He hugs you, Elisa still in his arms as she grabs a fistful of your hair, you laugh as you fight back the tears and take the baby from his arms.

“I’m gonna go and call May, she if she can look after Elisa and then I’ll meet you in my office. I want to know everything, and anything about the mission and where he could be, you don’t leave out a single detail.” You leave the room and shut the door behind you as you walk to your room and cling to your daughter, you were so close to falling apart, how could he just disappear like that? Without a trance.

You call the baby sitter and she says she’ll be there in 10 minutes, you put Elisa in her crib, it was time for her afternoon nap anyway, so you set the baby monitor, but you also alert Friday and the AI said she’d watch her.

“Tell me everything Rogers.” You enter your office and sit in your desk chair, “I want a play by play, leave nothing out, at all.”

Steve briefs you on everything, and there was nothing out the ordinary that could of spooked Bucky into running away. “Someone has to have him then.” Steve nods, “Didn’t take me long to realise that, he wouldn’t just leave.” You pick up papers and pictures from the base, “We just need to figure out who.” The door opens and Natasha comes in. “I think I know.” She grabs your keyboard and opens up a file attached to her email, it’s security footage from the base, in the shot is Bucky and Steve but then there’s a guy stood behind a car, clearly watching the pair. “Can you tell who that is?” Steve shakes his head, as he continues to watch the footage, he walks off in a different direction and you can see Sam’s shadow as he flies in another, Bucky walking in the direction of the car that the guy is hiding behind before he goes out of shot.

“He’s our prime suspect then, find him and we could find Buck.” Nat places a file in front of you, “Way ahead of you. His names Slavan Cortet. Ex S.H.I.E.L.D or ex Hydra. He was one of the main instigators, of the Hydra take over of S.H.I.E.L.D.” You gulp, “Shit, if Hydra have him we’re fucked.” You put your face in your hands, “Get us a location Nat. Let’s find him.” She leaves the room and you stare at the file more, you couldn’t lose Bucky down the worm hole that was the winter solider again.

“Hey, don’t think the worst.” You look up at Steve, “I cant lose him, not again, not so soon after getting him back. Even after everything Shuri did, I’m not sure we’d get him back again.” He sighs, before standing up and walking out, turning back as he’s stood in the door way, “Suit up, we’re going to South Carolina.” You rush to your feet, you hadn’t been on a mission for over a year, you couldn’t exactly be a superhero and a full time mum.

You smile at May as you enter your room, she was sat on the sofa reading. “May do you mind staying all day? I’m going on a mission with the team and not sure what time I’ll be back.” You pull on your leather jacket, which completed your attire, “Oh no dear I don’t mind.” She’d stayed over multiple times when you’d been on missions so she knew her way around. “Thank you.” You enter your bedroom and lean over the crib, you place a light kiss on Elisa’s forehead, “Bye baby girl, be good. I’m gonna go get daddy.” She doesn’t even stir as you leave, that’s one thing she did get from her dad, being able to sleep through anything.

“Thanks again May.” You leave the room and rush to the quinjet.

“We have a location. We go in, search the place, no casualties, this is a civilian area.” Steve says as you wait outside a hotel in the middle of the city.

You’d been to the military base and surveyed the area with no luck, and you were giving up hope until Nat received a witness statement from someone who saw Cortet at a hotel in town.

You all nod, you know the plan. The door opens and everyone exits the vehicle.

You go around the back and up the fire exit, you can hear them all talking through the com’s as Sam goes to the roof and Nat goes to reception to try and find out which floor he might be hiding on.

“Why thank you so much, I can’t believe I was stupid enough to lose my key.” She says in a sickeningly sweet voice.

“Nat?” You hear the elevator ding, “8th floor, room 802.” That’s all you need and you’re running up the fire escape to the 8th floor.

The door was locked so you kick it down and keep your gun high. 802 comes into view and you knock, this wasn’t part of the plan but you wanted Bucky back more than anything.

The door opens and you point your gun at the guys head, you recognise him as Cortet.

“Walk backwards, nice and slow.” He does that and you kick the door shut.

“Have you seen Bucky Barnes?” He shakes his head no, “First mistake is lying to me, I know you have, you were at base this morning. Lie to me again and you’ll be dead within seconds.” You press the gun harder into his forehead. “Tell me the truth.” The colour leaves his face as he turns pale. “They took him. He’s in the basement.”

Just as you’re about to drop the gun, Sam and Steve come bursting into the room and startle you causing you to pull the trigger. “Well shit.” You mumble as Cortet falls to the floor dead. “What the hell?” Steve says as he walks over and picks up Cortets body, checking he’s dead before dropping him again. “Nice going Y/N.” You roll your eyes, “Yeah well if you idiots hadn’t of barged in, I wouldn’t of killed him.” You put your gun in its holster. “What’d he tell you?” You load your second gun knowing you’ll need it. “They have him in the basement.” You exit the room and walk towards the window, leading to the fire escape, “Y/N now hold on, we can’t just go in all guns blazing, we don’t know the situation.” Sam grabs your arm pulling you from the window. “We never will unless we go down there.” You put a hand on your ear, “Romanoff, meet us in the basement.” You pull your arm away from Sam and jump through the window and walk down the stairs to the sub level.

“Are you losers coming or do us girls need to show you hows it done?” You reach the basement door and Sam lands next to you as does Steve.

“I’m inside guys, there’s only 1 guard at the back door, I’m by the vault which is where I think they have Barnes, there are four guards.” Natasha says and Sam does the signal before kicking the door down, taking the guard stood behind it out.

“Okay, eyes up, stay sharp.” You pull your gun out and walk the corridors, finding the vault and finding Nat.

“Let me take them out and then we can go in and get Bucky back.” You stay in your hiding place and point your gun at the guards, one by one shooting them.

“Go go go.” Steve pulls the door open and is instantly being fired at but protects himself with his shield.

Nat uses her neutralisers and stuns them all.

The room you were in was empty but there was another door, you strut over to it, you could hear voices behind it.

Taking a deep breath you hold your guns up and open the door. There were 4 guards and Bucky tied to a chair in the corner.

“Let him go and we might not kill you.” The guards turn to you, and laugh. “And what’s a little girl like you going to do to stop us?” You cock your gun, “Little? I’m insulted. You know what they say, small and mighty. But I think they might help.”

They look confused as Steve comes from the shadows along with Nat and Sam. “Ah the Avengers. Where’s the rest of you? Still fighting each other?” You point your gun at the guy who talks, “We’re not here for a friendly chat. You took what’s mine and I don’t like sharing.” His eyes light up, “Ah you must be the wife, on the contrary, not what I imagined.” Annoyed you shoot him in the leg, “Is that what you imagined?” He groans, “Let him go now.” Steve says, “Captain America, it’s nice to see you again.” A guy you recognise as Dribon says, an old agent of Hydra. “Dribon, thought you were dead.” He laughs, “Well you thought wrong and we have something of yours.” He puts his hand on Bucky’s face lifting his chin.

“Touch him again, and I’ll kill you.” You say walking closer to him gun directly at him. “Well darling if you do that, I can’t tell you how to wake him up now can I?” You stare at him wide eyed, “What did you do?” You keep your gun pointed at him as you walk over to Bucky, “Ah, that’d be telling.” Steve chucks his shield at him, missing his head by centimetres, “Tell us now, or next time I won’t miss.” He places his arms behind his back and walks over to Steve.

You kneel in front of Bucky, “Baby? Can you hear me?” You place your hands on his cold face but he doesn’t wake up. The conversations they’re having are now irrelevant to you, your main focus being Bucky. “Darling wake up.” You run your hands through his hair and he moves but his eyes remain shut.

“Steve lets just kill them all.” You stand up and turn around both of your guns pointed at two of the guards. “Hold on Y/N. If we do that, we might not get Bucky back.” You ignore him and shoot everyone but Dribon, “You’re next if you don’t tell me what the hell you did.” For the first time he looks scared of you, “Answer me.” Nat smirks, “I think you should answer her, she gets very impatient.” Dribon puts his hands up, “Fine fine, we didn’t do anything! It’s a sedative, we were going to use him to get Hydra interested in the winter solider programme again, we wanted more like him.” You scoff, “I’m gonna kill you for that.” You put your gun to his head, “Wait Wait! Please don’t, let me go and I-I’ll never speak of this again.” He shakes as he talks but you don’t give second chances.

You shoot him and his blood splats all over you. You wipe some of it away before turning to your team, “I’m not really sure why we’re here. She didn’t need us.” Sam says sarcastically, “Nope definitely not.” Nat says, “Shut up.” You walk back over to Bucky who’s still out cold, “Steve grab his other arm.” You untie him and hoist him up. Steve takes most of his weight though as you attempt to get him back to the jet.

Eventually Sam ends up carrying him, it being a lot easier for him with his pack and you board the jet.

Sam places him on the table, and you sit next to him, running your hand over his forehead.

You’re 2 hours into the flight and are nearly home when Bucky’s eyes flutter open looking at you. “Hi.” You say happily until a look of worry shoots across his face, “Where am I? Why are you covered in blood? Are you hurt? What happened?” He springs up from the table, and grabs your face in his hands running his thumbs across your cheeks.

You giggle, “Baby I’m okay.” You put your hands on top of his before kissing his palm. “It’s you I’m worried about.”

He slumps down and sits on the floor, and you slide out of your chair sitting next to him, “I remember what happened. They attacked me, knocked me out it was Hydra, Cortet and Dribon, did you get them? We have to find them.” He stands up and walks up to the cockpit where Steve and Sam are. You pull him back by his hand and he turns to you, “Love this isn’t my blood I’m covered in. We got them, they’re dead. They’ll never come after you again.” He sighs and hugs you tight, although it is short lived as he pulls away abruptly, “Where’s Elisa? Who has Elisa?” You giggle at his panic, “Calm down, she’s with May.” He sighs, and just as he’s about to talk again, you’re landing back at the compound.

“Oh hey buddy, welcome back to the land of the living.” Sam says as he exits the cockpit. Buck just nods at him, “Buck, nice to have you back.” Steve hugs him, before smiling at you and walking off the jet, “Let’s go see Elisa.” Before you can say anything he’s dragging you off the jet eager to see his little girl. “Baby you’re going to pull my arm off if you drag me any faster.” He loosens his grip, before walking at a pace beside you. “Sorry doll, I just want to see my baby girl.” You smile at him warmly as he opens the door to your shared room. “Hi May.” He says as he walks into the kitchen and kicks his shoes off before scurrying off to the bedroom before May can greet him back, “Don’t mind him May, he’s had a long day.” She smiles, “That’s Alright Mrs Barnes, I know what men can be like.” You laugh, “Indeed.” She stands up and bids you farewell before leaving, as Bucky comes out with Elisa in his arms, as she giggles away.

“Oh little miss I’m surprised you’re still awake.” You say as you walk over to them both, kissing her cheek and wrapping an arm around Bucky’s waist. “Of course she was, she wanted to see her daddy.” You narrow your eyes at Bucky, “Love she was still awake wasn’t she? You didn’t wake her up?” Bucky turns his head so he’s not looking at you, trying to hide the guilt in his eyes. “James Buchanan Barnes, I swear if you woke her up!”

When he nods sheepishly at you, you groan, “She’ll be up all night now James!” You turn from him and grab a water bottle from the fridge, “You’re staying up with her.” You pass him the bottle as he passes you Elisa. “Of course I will Y/N, she’s my angel.” Your lips are still pouted angrily and he notices, placing his hands on your hips, “Baby don’t be mad at me, I’m sorry I woke her but today could of gone very differently and I can’t imagine what I’d of done if I never got to see her again so I just wanted to hold her and tell her I love her,” He kisses you lightly getting rid of the pout on your lips as you smile, “Forgive me?” He kisses you again this time more passionately and you hum into the kiss, “How could I stay mad at you?” He smiles, “I love you Y/N.” You hand him Elisa, “I love you too James.” You smile as you walk away, leaving him confused, “Baby where are you going?” You turn to him, “Oh I’m going to bed, have fun.” You say as Elisa gurgles loudly and you leave your husband stood in shock. “But doll-“ He whines but you shut the door and lock it, “I told you, you woke her up so now you have to stay up with her and then put her back to bed.” You wave sarcastically at him and proceed to remove your clothes leaving you in only your t shirt and pants as you fall into the mattress.

You don’t even get 10 minutes sleep before the bedroom door is being unlocked and opened and Bucky comes in, Elisa in his arms. He places her on the bed next to you, as he gets undressed before picking her sleeping figure back up and putting her in her crib covering her with blankets.

Bucky joins you in bed and you don’t move pretending to be asleep even though he woke you the moment he came in. Your weight shifts as he gets in bed and you roll slightly towards him, he gets comfortable before wrapping his arms around you and tangling your legs together, sighing in content you nuzzle your head into his chest falling asleep again.

Y/N's Pov. You open your eyes and find yourself from unfamiliar room. It takes you for a while before last nights events rushes back to you. You aren't alone. He said and you obeyed him speechless. You and Jungkook walked in silence across the street where almost every second light was off or broken. You shivered again and could almost feel your teeth hit against each other. Jungkook stopped and took his jacket of. Without a word he gave his jacket for you. ''I did not bring my car because I was worried what might happen to in area like this.  As soon as we get to the main street we can get a cab.'' Clementine’s hand found the handle of her machete only for her wrist to be seized by another. Cold fingers gripped her skin as she felt the presence lean in from behind her.

“Shh.” A gravelly voice whispered in her ear.

The hand pulled on the fabric of her shirt trying to turn She obliged, turning to see a person the same height as her. Under the smears of guts and gore, he wore a military green raincoat with the hood pulled up, but through the shadows, she could make out the toothy grin of someone she had never been so happy to see.

‘Willy?’ She mouthed to him with a smile as he reached out his hand to her quickly yet carefully, urging her to take it.

Taking one last look around, she took his hand as she followed him through the herd. Wiping the mix of rainwater and walker blood dripping into her eyes as she followed his careful movements turning into a near sprint as they escaped. Clementine followed around a sharp corner, smacking right into Louis and stumbling backwards.

He caught her before she fell, saving her from stumbling right back into the herd’s view. The young woman barely had time to regain her footing and smile up at him before something else threatened to knock her off her feet.

“Clem!” AJ said as he hugged her tight.

“We found them!”

“Nice of you finally show up at our little party.” Willy joked as he opened a cellar door off the side of the building, moving the squeaky hinges slowly as to not alert the dead.

“Fashionably late as usual.” Louis whispered back.

“Good thing I actually found you guys. Maybe Brody won’t be as pissed about me sneaking off.” WiIly looked back up and his face dropped.

“Who the hell are you?!”

Clementine whipped around to see Eli winded as he caught up. He looked back at Willy quizzically.

“Eli.” He waved awkwardly.

“Long story, let’s just get inside.”

“Hey guys, look what I found!” Willy’s voice grew to its usual excessive volume as he grinned ear to ear after the door was latched shut.

As they descended into the dim lighting of the windowless storm shelter, Clem breathed the hot musty air into her lungs. The space was lit with the unsteady light of lanterns whose batteries strained to keep going along with a few flickering candles. 

The stunned faces of her friends greeted her as Clementine stepped out of the shadows with the others in tow.

“Is that them?” A frantic voice broke the silence from a cot near the far wall.

Violet’s good eye squinted in the faint light as an exasperated redhead nearly had to pin her down as she untied a darkly stained cloth from her left shoulder.

“Please sit still, Vi.” Ruby quietly begged.

“Are y’all hurt?”

The smile on her face told them she was happy for their safe return, but the weariness in her eyes said she was nearly at her wit’s end.

“We’re okay.” Clementine smiled as she let out a sigh that felt like a breath she had been holding since they arrived at the empty school.

Hearing Clementine’s voice was enough for Ruby’s efforts to calm the blonde woman to be in vain as she tore away from Ruby’s grip to hug her best friend tight. 

Clementine could smell a tinge of blood as she hugged back tightly. When she finally pulled away, she saw the rip in the stained blue fabric of her shirt, revealing a nasty jagged wound in her flesh held together by small, even stitches. Fresh blood still slowly oozed out of it from her sudden movements.

“Glad you’re not dead.” Was all the injured girl could say before she stumbled back a few feet where Ruby caught her shoulder.

“She lost quite a bit of blood on the way here so she’s a little out of it.” Ruby said as she guided Vi back to the bed.

“I patched her up best I could but my medicine bag is back at the school so we’ve just been makin’ do with that we could scavenge out of here when the walkers showed up.”

“Some old uniform shirts, a few bottles of water I snagged on the way out of the school, and a mostly-looted first aid kit.” Aasim said dissatisfied.

“We also found a few cans of food but it won’t last long.”

Guess this place isn’t even a temporary shelter.

“We wanted to look for you guys but we couldn’t get around the walkers.” He continued.

“This is pretty much the only place we’ve had to rest for long.”

The school was marked so there was no going back yet, and probably not for a while. They could wait until the herd moves on to search the buildings but who knows how long that would take. The occasional boom of thunder along with the constant rapid pittering of the raindrops against the rusted door reminded her that there would be no way for them to camouflage as long as the rain poured.

Looks like we’ll be fighting our way out of here.

“Who the hell is that?”  Mitch stepped forward when he noticed the stranger half-hiding behind Louis.

“I-I’m Eli.” He looked at the floor, knuckles white as he gripped his sleeves with nervousness.

“Hey, It’s alright.” Clementine calmed them, passing the boy a small smile.

“We saved him from the people that invaded the school. He knows stuff about them he can help us avoid them.”

“Does he know why they’re after us?” Aasim questioned, biting his lip.

“We barely got out of there in one piece, and then those assholes jumped us on the bridge.”

Eli only seemed to sink deeper into himself as he tried to pick his words carefully. With all eyes on the new kid, AJ stepped up right next to him.

“It’s okay.” He said with a smile.

“We know you’re not bad, so they will too.”

Eli smiled and shakily relayed what little he knew. The school’s transformation and why he was there. It wasn’t any more than what he had told them before, but it was clear that was all he knew as well.

“I just do what I’m told.” He said.

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. No one ever tells me the ‘why’ just the ‘what’.”

“You sure about this?” Brody said in a barely audible voice.

Clementine nodded in response. There was no way she could leave this kid to try to make it on his own.

“You guys got to the school?” Omar questioned.

“It must’ve been overrun. The herd came at us from all different directions just as Mitch, Brody, and Aasim got back.”

Louis paced with his brow furrowed in anger. The sights they saw of what they’d done to their home after forcing them out had to frustrate him beyond belief.

“These assholes decided to do some renovations.” He let out a short disheartened laugh.

“All the dorms were barred up and filled with walkers. Probably more in the other buildings too, but we got spotted before we saw anything else.”

His words hung in the air as a hopeless silence filled the dark dingy basement. No home, few supplies, and a herd of the dead prowling the area above them. But they were alive. That’s a better outcome than a lot of the other scenarios Clementine had been through on the road. 

Even though no one spoke it was clear that the same thought danced through each of their heads:

“What do we do now?”

“Even if we can’t stay here for very long, these buildings might be our only shot to get supplies for miles.” Clementine paced as she planned.

“If the buildings are at least half-decently secured from the outside the herd shouldn’t have wandered in unprovoked. There's a few different buildings around here. Something’s gotta be left.”

“It’s risky…” Aasim pointed out.

“Who knows what’s locked in there.”

“Everything we do is risky.”

“Fair.”

“Let’s wait and see if the storm lets up.” Louis suggested.

“Check out some buildings quick and be in and out before the walkers even notice us.”

“Where will we go after?” Willy asked softly, uncertainty in his tone.

“When can we go home.”

Can we ever?

Images of the ranch came to mind. Voices of the people around her became drowned out by the distant screams of her memories. 

The blood. 

The fire. 

The bodies falling around her.

The weight of the little boy in her arms before her balance was ripped out from under her as a bullet ripped through her leg.

The day her life and freedom were left in the ashes of the place she called home and replaced with the brutal hell that almost stole what remained of her humanity.

Was this the beginning of history repeating itself? Losing her home once again just to be captured and forced into a war. Clementine suddenly felt far away from the current situation lost in the visions of what may end up being a premonition. 

A gun pointed.

Innocent people screaming.

“Clem?” A comforting presence appeared at her right.

“Are you alright?”

Clementine opened her eyes, not realizing she had closed them. Louis took her hand with a worried expression in his eyes. She wanted to respond but couldn’t force any coherent sounds from her dried throat. Pain shot up her left leg as she took a step, what remained of it begged to be released from the prosthetic as each step sent an ache down to her bone.

“Let’s get some sleep.” She mumbled out almost slurred before limping to one of the cots and nearly collapsing.

Clementine didn’t have to move to remove it, which was good, because she didn’t have the energy to. Her eyes fell shut as she pushed a deep breath from her lungs.

Louis carefully undid the straps from her thigh and gently removed the wooden leg attachment. She felt his fingers softly graze the crisscrossed scars across her stump, the skin an angry red colour and sensitive.

Louis and Ruby mumbled at the end of her bed something she couldn't comprehend as mental and physical exhaustion overcame her.

The weight of the cot shifted as someone sat down next to her. Louis’ warm hand brushed through her cold, wet curls as he hummed that song we wrote for her the night before the Delta attacked.

Normally, the song meant safety and warmth and love.

But now it brought her a creeping feeling of impending doom.

“You sure about this?” Bucky asked Y/N one last time.

He was leading her to the gala, her arm gripping his left bicep. He could feel the warmth of her hand through his fancy suit. They had a few more yards before they were actually at the event and he was going to use it to check for the 5th time if Y/N was okay.

Y/N stopped Bucky and made him turn to face her head on.

“I don’t do things halfway, James. That includes being with you. I’m here or I’m not. And right now…I just want to be with you. Okay?” She replied.

Bucky hated being called James. He hated it so much that he thought Bucky was better. If anyone other than Steve called him it, they’d end up six feet under. Though only his close friends were allowed to call him Bucky, his inferiors were expected to call him Mr. Barnes or simply sir.

But when Y/N called him James, he melted. He never loved his given name until it flowed off her tongue and lips.

“You realize there’s no going back after tonight, right? Once these people see you on my arm, you’re linked to me.” Bucky urged.

Though her alter ego of Black Serpent could remain secret, she was about to lose a part of her real identity. After tonight, she would no longer be Y/F/N Y/L/N, but James Buchanan Barnes’ girlfriend.

Y/N smirked at his protectiveness. Though it was adorable and chivalrous, it was also unnecessary. “Yes, James, I understand.”

“Sure you want to sully that name by being associated with me, doll?” Bucky teased as he pulled her closer by her hips. They still had a few moments of privacy before all their intimacy would be up for everyone’s viewing.

Her eyes flickered to his lips and gave him a teasing smirk. “I think I can handle it,” Y/N cooed before kissing his lips.

With that, Bucky led her up the carpeted stairs that led up to the gala.

It was one of those fancy charity events. The wealthy tried to redeem their lives of spoils and privilege by giving away the money they didn’t need to the poor.

But it was also a great place to make business deals and make friends from all the wrong places.

Despite the event being filled with businessman, aristocrats, and even politicians, everyone still knew of Bucky’s real job and identity. People smiled to his face, but still cowered in his presence.

When they entered, Bucky took in the room. Then he turned to stare at Y/N, who was still doing the same thing.

“God, you’re beautiful.” He practically whimpered.

She tore her eyes away from the crowd to look at him and laugh. “Buck, you say that to me every day.”

“Yeah, because you’re beautiful every damn day.” Bucky responded incredulously.

Y/N just laughed more and shook her head. “You go and make friends. I’m going to get myself a martini.”

“Don’t leave me alone for long,” Bucky whined.

“Be a big boy, James. I know you can,” she teased and added a wink before sauntering away.

He couldn’t help but watch her move away, enjoying the sway of her hips. Whoever made that dress of hers, he planned on writing them a handwritten note to thank them for its creation. 

However, he was broken out of his reverie when he noticed other men also enjoying the view. Other men that were not him and weren’t looking at her with both love and desire, like he was. No, they were just watching her with a disgusting hunger.

Bucky pushed his anger away. It was too early to pick a fight and ruin such a nice event.

He did as Y/N said, making new friends and greeting old ones. 

Y/N was good at entertaining herself, not depending on him to keep her company all night. She would flutter in and out of his conversations, always introducing herself elegantly and charming whoever he was speaking to. It amazed him how everyone’s eyes lit up when speaking with her. She could pretty much make anyone fall in love with her. 

Bucky felt her start to excuse herself from the conversation he was having with a senator that was rather corrupt in politics. Bucky knew because he was the man helping him corrupt.

Bucky grabbed Y/N’s wrist before she could slip away. He assumed she was going to sneak away to the bar again.

She looked at him curiously, but waited.

“What?” She asked when he didn’t say anything.

“Nothing. Just wanted to look at you a bit longer.”

“Always managing to sneak in a charming line,” Y/N rolled her eyes and continued to exit to the bar.

The night went on and Bucky lost track of Y/N. His eyes roamed the party, desperately looking for her.

He instantly relaxed and smirked when he spotted her chatting up an elderly woman. They were both drinking their martinis at the bar.

Bucky started across the room. He just about had enough socializing for the night. He wanted to take his girl home. She’d spent far too much time away from his side, making the conversations even more boring.

Bucky was halfway to her when he heard it.

“Don’t even think about it, Brock. Did you see who she came in with?” He heard a man’s voice say. He quickly paused and searched for the body it was attached to.

He recognized Rollins and Brock Rumlow. They were mobsters themselves. Bad ones at that. They didn’t care about money or reputation, they just wanted people to fear them. They got off on it.

Which was exactly why Bucky and his crew barely tolerated them. Bucky had even considered running them out of town a few times.

“Who Barnes?” Brock scoffed back. “As if that matters. You know how many of his bitches I’ve bagged just days after they’re on his arm. They don’t mean shit to him.”

Bucky’s fists clenched. There was truth in Brock’s words: Bucky didn’t care about any of those past women. They used him as much as he used them. 

But Y/N was different. And he would tolerate no such talk about her.

“But this one,” Brock practically drooled. “I think she’s one I’ll keep around for awhile. The sooner Barnes tosses her aside, the better.”

That was it. Bucky took a step toward the two men. He made a promise to himself that he wouldn’t cause a seen at this event. But he was about to throw that out the window.

However, he was so preoccupied with eavesdropping on their conversation, he hadn’t seen Y/N walking over. But she wasn’t walking towards him, she was walking towards the two men Bucky planned on murdering.

“Hello,” she murmured to Brock as if she planned on devouring him.

Bucky’s brow furrowed, wondering what game she was playing.

“H-Hi,” Brock replied, utterly caught off guard by being pursued instead of pursuing.

“I think I may have overheard you speaking about me…” She talked to him like a mother who was about to lecture her toddler.

“We…W-We were just kidding,” Brock stuttered.

“Oh, were you? What a shame. I was going to ask about all the things you wished to do to me tonight. Come on, don’t keep it to yourself. I wanna play,” Y/N almost whined.

Brock looked at his friend Rollins for support. But he gave none. Brock opened and closed his mouth repeatedly, looking like a fish out of water, as his mind went blank.

Y/N’s teasing posture then shifted to one of dominance and intimidation. She now appeared utterly unimpressed and disinterested.

She smiled condescendingly at the man, crossed her arms, and tilted her head. “Men like you think you have such a way with women. You can’t even seduce me with words. I fed myself to you on a silver platter, didn’t even make you do any work by coming over here myself. But what did you offer me? Nothing. Men like you can never satisfy a woman like me, let alone even get your tiny dick up.”

Bucky smiled and shook his head as he witnessed the savagery.

“You two enjoy the rest of your evening,” Y/N told them. Then she gave Brock one last up and down, earning the man another look of disinterest. If Brock’s ego wasn’t already hurt, that look of her’s had decimated it.

Y/N took a few steps away from them, paused, and turned back. “Oh, and my boyfriend over there heard all of that too. Congrats on signing your own death certificate.” She winked and then sauntered her way over to Bucky.

Before her boyfriend could say anything, Y/N grasped his face and pressed her lips to his, capturing him in a long and amorous kiss.

Bucky instantly reciprocated, his lips dancing with hers with the coordination of a waltz.

Y/N finally pulled away with a half lidded gaze.

“That was just about the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen,” Bucky whispered with a rough voice.

“Please don’t kill them and ruin our night,” Y/N barely even asked. She knew how much hold she had over him. She could half request him to do anything and he would deliver.

“Are you kidding me?” Bucky laughed. “I think your emasculation hurt them more than my fists ever could.”

|Ch. 14: Save Him, Save Her| Her Forgotten Past // Attack on Titan Fanfiction

Why does life have to be this way. Why does it give you everything, and then take it away? Levi could never understand this concept. But it always, always came around to bite the Survey Corps in the ass.

They were so close. Victory had grazed their fingertips, only to fall out of reach. The female titan called that horde of titans and had herself purposely devoured. At first, it puzzled every soldier who witnessed the sight. And rightly, it was quite the gruesome sight, the kind thats hard to erase from your memory. But Erwin, like always, was one step ahead of everybody.

"They escaped. The operator, the human inside the Titan, got away from us. Right under our noses." He had said as he, Levi, and a team of soldiers rode through the forest. They searched worriedly, desperately, hopelessly for the culprit.

Levi might've appeared fearless and unshakeable on the outside, but on the inside, he wasn't sure how much more he could take. So much effort and so many sacrifices, only for the convict to get away. This whole mission was a giant screw up.

A piercing roar. They all snapped their heads towards the sound. The whole forest shuddered as it reverberated from tree to tree.

There were two Titan shifters in the vicinity: the female titan and Eren. But only one of them was capable of a raging, lunatic scream like that. It was all too hot-tempered, and all too familiar...

Eren.

Levi flew off his horse, not bothering to tell Erwin where he was going. He didn't need to. They were all thinking the same thing: Eren wasn't allowed to transform unless absolutely necessary. Why would it be necessary?

But Levi began to get an inkling why.

Despite these suspicions, nothing could have prepared him for the horrible path ahead as he followed the distant roaring. First was Günther... Hanging upside down, bloody, eyes open but not seeing, Levi instantly knew he was dead. He proceeded. Next was Eld. Well, part of him. The rest was nowhere to be found, most likely swallowed. Levi tried to ignore the red stains on the grass and continued. Oluo wasn't spared either. After ten minutes of more flying around, Levi found him face down in the ground, mouth open with the ghost of his last scream still on his face. Levi did not dwell, although he noticed his heart felt heavier than before. Before all of this. Perhaps there was still hope. Petra was a highly skilled soldier, very independent, and very capable-

She was slumped against a tree. Blood smeared on her cheek. Like Günther, her eyes remained open just a peak, but absolutely lifeless. Dead.

Four beautiful people. A whole squad of the finest soldiers... wiped out.

He no longer heard Eren's monstrous roars. They had stopped. He heard only footsteps now, and far away, if he squinted enough past the trees, he could see a muscled pink figure running away. It was not Eren, but instead the female titan. And she probably had the boy with her.

Levi wanted to chase after her, but he couldn't bring himself to do it, not until he knew where she was. Jet-black hair and blue eyes duller than the barrel of a gun. Where was she?

Levi's heart was now picking up speed. It thumped in his chest and it physically and emotionally hurt. He looked around frantically. Surely, she's alive. There's no way she can't be.

But then again... that's what he thought about his squad. Now look at them.

His eyes skimmed over the clearing, searching the grass, the rocks, the trees, until finally he spotted something. At first it looked to be an ordinary mossy rock, but a upon second observation he realized it was actually a Survey Corps cloak, camouflaged against a bush. And someone was wearing it, sprawled on the ground.

Levi didn't hesitate. He landed on the ground and ran towards her. "Johanna!" His own voice sounded like another person's. A scared person's. He kneeled and flipped her over to discover blood all on the left side of her face. It was fairly dry. How long had she been unconscious? Or worse... dead?

He took her pulse and felt a wave of relief. No, definitely unconscious. His rapid heart eased comfortably again. God, the universe, whatever higher power up there spared him this one. And although he reeled with grief of the others, he was thankful that she survived.

He shook her shoulders gently, trying to get her to wake up. "Johanna... Come on, dammit. Talk to me!"

She stirred. Her eyelids opened a crack, those dull blue irises peeking out from underneath. She was weak, he could tell. The focus in her gaze was fazing in and out. Inconsistent. "What... Corporal?"

"Yes, brat." He said, but there was a softness in his deep voice. Lines of consternation formed on his forehead. "Your head's bleeding. What happened?"

For a moment, she seemed brainless. Levi wondered if she had heard him. But then her eyes widened in terror, glazed over as she remembered. "We were overwhelmed. The squad, they- they tried their best, but..." She gulped. "She was too strong. Next thing I know they're all dead. Eren turned into a titan and tried to take her on, but he was defeated..." A single crystalline tear rolled down her cheek. She continued, choked. "I tried to stop her from running away with him but I wasn't careful enough- and- and she pulled on my wires and I hit a tree. Now he's gone!" She fisted his collar desperately. "We need to get him back, we have to save him!"

"There's not much we can do. Its too late for him." Levi said grimly.

She tried taking in these words, but they went in one ear and out the other. "No! We cant just let him get taken away, we have to-!"

"Didn't you hear what I just said?" He cut her off. "Its too late. My whole squad has been wiped out! Anybody with a brain knows that the best choice is to return to the walls and come up with a plan there."

"He'll be dead by the time we do that! You know what? Forget it." That was enough. She pushed him off and got up, stumbling as she regained her footing. "I'll go by myself. He would do the same for me. Actually, he did once." She said, recalling the time they were on that training corps mission out in the desert and she got kidnapped. "I'll kill that bitch on my own. Who knows? Maybe I'll come back with the Eren and the titan shifter!" She started doing an assessment check on her gear. It was pretty banged up, but everything still functioned.

Levi's patience was running thin. "You're delusional! You can't do it alone!"

"Watch me!"

"Wait!" He stopped her just as she made to fly off. For a few seconds it was quiet, the female titan's footsteps barely audible now. He then sighed. "Fine. But I'm coming with you. And in case you've forgotten," He approached her. They stared at each other frigidly. "I'm the one in charge here. So do everything I tell you, and only what I tell you. Got it?"

She bit the inside of her cheek, but nodded in compliance.

"Alright. Let's go."

It took them about fifteen minutes just to catch up with the female titan. They followed behind her. She had expert stamina, running as though she were in a marathon.

"Is he in her mouth?" Levi asked.

"Yes." Johanna said, glaring daggers at her back. She yearned to just swoop in and get it over and done with. But they had to maintain their distance. Her movements were sudden and almost incalculable.

Levi's brow furrowed. "How do you know he's not dead? If she bit his nape-"

"He's still alive in there. This Titan shifter has a purpose. If she wanted to kill Eren, she could've just crushed him. She needs him for something. But she also needs her hands to fight. So she's been holding him in her tongue. It's common sense."

"Or maybe she just wanted to savor her prey. In which case, he's probably been swallowed already. If so-"

"He's alive." She emphasized. Her expression had never been more fierce.

"Tch." He rolled his eyes. "Someone's optimistic."

Johanna took her eyes off the female titan and glared at him now. "Listen here, buddy. If you had just done your damn job and protected him like you're supposed to, we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place!"

That's when it dawned on him. He cocked his head to look at her. The 'oh' moment was visible on his face. How did he not notice it before? Figures.

He faced her completely. His tone was somewhere between sly and repulsed. "I see what's going on here. Three years of cadet training, little stolen moments during lunch, sneaking out after curfew... It's all making sense now."

Johanna wasn't sure what he was implying. Actually, she did know. She knew all too well. But she hated being ridiculed. Her scowl deepened. She would've blushed if it wasn't for the immense life or death situation they were currently in.

"Right. For the sake of getting shit done, let's narrow down our goals. We forget about killing her." He indicated to the female titan jogging in front of them.

"No way. She's killed way too many soldiers to get away with that. She's dead." Johanna said.

"She's got defenses that none of us have been trained to deal with. Not even me. I'm telling you, it's a lost cause." He raised a blade, his reflection glinting on the shiny surface. "Instead, we act on your assumption that Eren is still alive. We'll focus only on getting him back before she leaves the forest. Thats all we're doing. I'll do all the cutting. You try to distract her."

"Got it."

Johanna didn't hesitate. She didn't even wait for him to say go. She sped off to engage the female titan. She flew in front of her gigantic feet. The female Titan's icy blue eyes peered down at her, surprised. Distracted. Just how they wanted her to be. Levi readied his blades.

The female titan, quickly catching on to what they were planning, took the contrary. She sensed Levi was right behind her and she swerved around, aiming a powerful punch at his body.

Ha. As if that would be successful.

Levi dodged it, and now that her arm was extended, he whirled his way up, slashing and shredding the skin like a tornado. When he finally stopped, his blades were fully covered in Titan blood, which instantly began to steam. He dived in again and cut her up, even going for her eyes. The torture was brutal to the point where she had no other choice than to stop, leaning against a tree for support. Her eyes were blinded. Her shoulders falling from their sockets. The ankles and knees were rendered useless. There was nothing she could do but wait and regenerate now.

Johanna watched in slight awe. The finished product was quite impressive.

That's when she noticed something. She stopped in mid air. Her nape is completely open! She thought, staring at the pink flesh just waiting to be carved into. She itched to find out who the hell was hiding in there. This is it! Now's my chance!

Johanna flew towards the nape at breakneck speed, raising her blades high and mighty. So close... the tips of her fingers, curled around the blades, buzzed with electricity. The anticipation was so unbearable, she-

"NO! DON'T DO IT!"

A shadow loomed over Johanna. She was barely given two seconds. But two seconds was all it took. She looked up and the first thing she registered was the female titan's hand about to swat her. Then, out of nowhere Levi came and shoved her aside and out of danger.

Johanna fell about fifteen feet before she finally pulled herself together. She shot an anchor into a nearby tree to keep her from hitting the ground, but as she hung there, the shock still hadn't left her body. Somewhere deep inside she knew she messed up. Big time.

She watched Levi. He landed improperly on the titan's hand, forcing it back with his feet.

Crack!

'Fuck, was that what I think it was?' Johanna thought.

Yep. It certainly was. Levi's foot had twisted the wrong way. He grimaced in pain, but seemed to ignore the injury and proceeded to slash the female titan's mouth. Her jaw popped open, tongue lolling out, and finally, there was Eren. Levi wasted no time and grabbed him. Together, he and Johanna took off.

"Talk about a screw up. What did I tell you? You shouldn't have tried to kill her!" Levi said. He carried Eren in one arm. He was an unconscious, slimy and disgusting mess. But he seemed okay overall.

Johanna gritted her teeth. She wanted to be angry at Levi, but the truth is, she could only be angry at herself. "I didn't mean to, okay? I just-"

"Look, we get that he's your boyfriend. Just try not to act crazy next time."

"I- ugh, that's not..." Johanna didn't have the energy to explain herself at the moment. She couldn't care less what he thought. Right now, all that mattered was Eren's safety. And until they weren't out of this goddamn forest, she wouldn't be satisfied.

Out of curiosity, Johanna stole one last look behind her. What she saw, however, was beyond shocking...

There lay the female titan, against a tree, body regenerating slowly. And she was...

Crying.

A/N: I love me some Loki. Sorry this took forever to get done, but as my first story on this blog I wanted it to be good. Anyway, this was really fun to write, though I do apologize for the intro and the ending being a bit off? I tried to fix it but it wasn’t working so I said screw it. I also wrote this instead of doing my journalism project that is due tomorrow… oops… I was just really excited to write this. Also Id like to say thanks to my friend Andrew who edited this for me, free of charge while also doing my math homework for me, that boy is a saint. Anyway, enough of my ramblings, on to the story!

What He Wants

Summary: Loki is having trouble coming to terms with his feelings for the reader, but with a little bit of guidance from Thor, both him and the reader are finally able to figure it out. Complete fluff. 

Warnings: None? I might’ve swore once but I cant remember…

It’s not often Loki doesn’t get what he wants.  It is also rare when he doesn’t know how to get it, though to be fair it took him an extremely long time to figure out what he wanted. and that’s always the first step.  

Maybe it was the way you gave him a comforting smile before each mission that made him want you, or the playful nudge you’d give him whenever you walked by, or the way your eyes seemed to always find his and immediately fill him with warmth. Perhaps it was the fact that when he was around you he felt a rush of power that he hadn’t felt in centuries, or to contrast it was the aura of calmness that he gathered from you. You were quite the paradox.  

Truth be told he doesn’t know what made him want you. To make him pick one thing would be like asking someone to pick one of their organs to keep and having the rest viciously removed. But he does know for certain what made him finally realize you were what he wanted, and unfortunately it was his own brother.  

It was a regular day for you, and started off with some sparring practice with Thor in the gym. You playfully shoved his shoulder as you both walked to the mat, “you ready to get your ass beat sparkles?” Thor rolled his eyes and tossed his bag on a nearby bench, “You know the last time someone called me sparkles was when I took down Hulk. I wouldn’t test me if I were you”. You laughed at his defensiveness and squared up on the mat, “oh really now? Cuz a little birdie told me you didn’t really win that fight.” He glared at you, or at least tried to before breaking out in a wide smile. As you were preparing to fight, you felt someone’s burning gaze on the back of your head, but you looked around and saw no one, which gave Thor the perfect opportunity to take you by surprise and tackle you to the floor.  

Loki stood in the shadows, watching you and his brother laugh. He watched as a teasing smirk graced your lips, your eyes sparkled with mischief. An uneasy feeling settled in his stomach as he observed your interactions with each other. This feeling, he didn’t know what it was but he sure as hell didn’t like it, when he felt a sharp jab of it as he watched Thors arms wrap around you and take you to the ground. he couldn’t stand to watch anymore.

Later that afternoon, Loki sat in the corner common room reading a book as Natasha and Steve arm wrestled at the kitchen counter. “you’re cheating! I know you’re cheating Nat, this is the fifth time you’ve won!” Steve shouted, throwing his hands in the air as he walked away from the table. Natasha rolled her eyes and followed him, “you know, just because you have all that super strength does not automatically make you good at arm wrestling” she teased, “you have to have a little something called technique.” Steve scoffed at her comment as he plopped down on the sofa, and flipped on the TV.  

Loki listened their banter with slight amusement and relief, Steve had been accusing Natasha of cheating for the past half hour. Suddenly a loud ruckus caught Lokis attention,making him look up from his book to see you stumble into the room, gripping your stomach from laughing too hard. Thor sullenly walked in behind you, his face downcast. “guess who won again!!” You cheered, skipping into the kitchen to grab a glass of water. Thor followed and slumped down on a kitchen chair, “okay, you did kick my ass, but in my defense, I’ve had a very rough week.” “a rough week? Really Thor? Its Monday.” You quipped, as you handed him a glass of water. “yes, I know and, in that time, I’ve gotten my ass kicked so I would say that qualifies as a rough week.” He explained, ruffling your hair, still wet from your shower. “don’t worry, you’re not the only one who got their ass kicked today, cap over here lost to me about five straight times in arm wrestling” Natasha jabbed a thumb over at the blond soldier who started to make his retort.  

Loki tuned out the rest of the conversation, choosing to focus on you instead. Your wet hair, darker than normal from the water, framed your face, contrasting with the brightness that shown from your eyes with every laugh. Those glimmering eyes flickered over to his, you smiled, and invited him to join the conversation. Loki felt his heart flutter, however the good feeling diminished when he saw Thors hand reach over and rest on your thigh. The feeling he felt in his stomach from the gym returned, but even worse this time. Loki snapped his book shut and abruptly stood up, all the chatter in the room dying as everyone looked up at him, startled by his sudden movements. He glanced at your face, your eyes that were filled with warmth and happiness just two seconds ago were now fading to confusion. He then turned and stormed out of the room.  

You knew Loki wasn’t a real talkative but you’ve never known him to just run from a conversation, “what the hell was that?” You asked. Steve shrugged, “who knows what’s up with that guy honestly, the smallest things set him off sometimes. I wouldn’t worry about it.” Thor sighed, and leaned over to you, “You should go talk to him.” You looked at him incredulously, “Wait what? Why? You’re his brother, shouldn’t you?”. He shook his head and laughed, “No, no, no, see he’s mad at me, and he needs to talk to you, you calm him down.” Your look of confusion remained on your face and he sighed once again, “just go talk to him, you’ll see what I mean.” “o-okay, I guess…” You stuttered as you got up and walked to the hallway. A knowing smile graced Thors face as he watched you leave. His plan was working.

You entered the hallway to see Loki standing with his face to the wall, his fist resting next to his head, slightly bloody from where he had apparently been punching the wall. “Loki?” You called, slowly stepping up to him. He looked up, finally noticing your presence and quickly stepped back from the wall. “Y/n, I’m ah, I’m sorry for my outburst in there, I don’t quite know what took over me.” he awkwardly looked to the floor, avoiding your gaze. You looked at him with questioning eyes before you reached out to grab a hold of his bloodied hand, stepping closer to him in the process. “well clearly, you’re upset about something, you know you can talk to me, right?” He looked up to see your eyes now filled with concern, and he also noticed that with the closer proximity he could pick out almost every detail on your face, the way your eyebrows creased together, and the way small droplets of water from your hair made your skin shine even more.  

Lokis emotions were running wild in his head. The combination of his jealous rage and the sad pleading look in your eyes, he didn’t know what to do. He shook his head and stepped back, “I’m fine, really, why don’t you go back to Thor, he probably misses you. ” Loki pulled away, his voice slightly angry. His sudden change in attitude threw you off and you clocked your head to the side, crossing your arms in front of your chest. “Thor? Okay seriously. What’s up? you’re punching walls, getting mad at your brother for some reason, and pushing yourself further and further away from the team, just tell me what’s wrong!”  you looked into his eyes,and pleaded him to let down his walls and let you in.

Subconsciously he started inching closer to you, pushing you back until your hit the wall behind you. His eyes continued to search yours for some kind of answer, some way to show you exactly how he felt. Your breath hitched with every step he took, and soon your breaths were mingling together. “Loki-” “No, sh just let me…” His bloodied hand lifted up to caress your cheek, gentle as his thumb swiped along your cheekbone. You were more confused than ever. “Loki, do you-do you like me?” You asked, his downcast eyes flickered up to yours, “yes I’m afraid so darling.” With those words your face lit up in a bright smile, “well you should’ve said that in the first place dummy!” Now it was his turn to be confused, “what, what do you mean?”. You laughed and wrapped your arms around his neck and whispered “just shut up and kiss me ya idiot.” And he did just that.

Nirvana in Fire 2 Episode 3: Thoughts

I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to have watched 10 raw episodes but to slooowly wait for subtitles. :) But we are getting subtitles and that is cool enough!

Episode 3 is where we get some more action, and the start of a plot and an investigation by the cute smol that is Pingjing aka Divine Little Dragon (don’t ask). We also have a lot of new characters and a few new mysteries. SPOILERS ABOUND SO PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Last Episode:

In Episode 2, we saw Pingjing setting off to the seat of DaTong Prefecture to investigate how the Changlin Army’s supplies were cut off. Lin Xi is also sent by her master to support him, although she moves separately.

The person in charge of these supplies is a Senior Secretary/Minister Song Fu, who wanted to punish the Changlin army by delaying their supplies which were arriving by 3 military transport ships, all of which sank. Minister Song was shocked because he just wanted to cause a few issues, not sink the ships. However, since things have gone to shit- he has sent his personal assistant Mr.Qin to Datong to sort things out. And now, we continue:

Episode 3:

- We are now introduced to a couple of new characters: sickly Crown Prince Xiao Yuanshi, his worried mom Empress Xun and a weirdly super snakey-looking man with pretty hair and magical silver yo-yos, the High Priest Pu Yangying. The young prince magically gets up after Pu Yangying does some ball-waving incense thing, and the Empress Xun trusts him.

- From a conversation, we learn Pu was appointed by the Empress a while ago, and the ministers think he is not worth anything. He is said to be a sorcerer of the Baishen sect- the same religion the superstitious Southern Chu believe in (we hear about this in NIF!)

- Next, we are introduced to Private Assistant Qin of Minister Song (lets call him PA Qin) and Magistrate Zhang of Datong, who is Minister Song’s student and complicit in his affairs. However, PA Qin is introduced with a different blurb on screen - his real name is Duan Tongzhou. We will later learn that Duan Tongzhou is a mysterious martial artist, 4th on Langya Hall’s list but no one knows his background or who he is. I suspect he is masquerading as an innocent official under this Minister Song.

- Magistrate Zhang is extremely tensed (also a familiar face- he is Section Chief Liang from the Disguiser!) because an imperial envoy is on their way to investigate the case of the lost supplies. We learn that the day the 3 ships sank, there was a small passenger boat following it - who saw the whole event. The boat has physicians from Jifeng Hall (yup the same one as Lin Xi’s) who tried to save people. Zhang however ensured all witnesses died, but could not find 3 physicians+ 1 military boat captain which has put him in a snit.

- PA Qin suggests that Zhang try and search Jifeng Hall, which has a pharmacy+hospital in Datong and find these men and destroy evidence. Zhang has a Police captain named Qian do his bidding and raid Jifeng Hall.

- This chain of events has been spotted by an unknown foe however: meet Xiao Yuanqi, Marquis of Laiyang, the son of the Emperor’s brother who died very young. Yuanqi mysteriously came across the escaped boat witnesses and helped him - hid them in his manor. Yuanshi has beautiful hair and beautiful coats, and seems to be very noble and a man of leisure in the capital, out on a tour of the provinces. However, he tells his advisor something strange - that does he believe that indeed he is just a man of leisure? Knowing that Yuanqi will later be an antagonist, I smell that he is biding his time.

- Pingjing and Lin Xi arrive in Datong and find that the Jifeng Hall is closed. Pingjing initially thinks Lin Xi is following him, but she makes it very clear that her hall has also been affe ted and her Shifu has sent her to help Pingjing. They make their way over to a secret manor- which houses people from Jifeng Hall. They tell them the story of the disappeared physicians. The smols infer that the Local Government of Datong has their hands dirty. (Special appearance by the former Princess Liyang Zhang yan Yan as a nurse named Yun-jie! Much deja vu, muuuuch deja vu)

- The investigation begins! Pingjing wears a Fei Liu-like Ninja Outfit and heads over to Zhang’s house (STILL MY QUESTION WHERE IS FEI LIU?). However PA Qin/Mysterious Man Duan is there and detects Pingjing. They have a thrilling fight and Pingjing is blade to blade with him! Lin Xi arrives to save the day with some darts (yaaaay for cool girls!). However, another person spots them - Xiao Yuanqi, also lurking in secret.

- When Pingjing is back, they realise that one attack of PA Qin was strong enough to burn his clothing - this kind of energy is characteristic of the mysterious Duan Tongzhou! But who has the power to hire such a man? This conspiracy is deep, they realise. And then suddenly, Yuanqi leaps in and they meet - Pingjing and hin seem to be close!

- The next day, Yuanqi brings over Pingjing and Lin Xi to his manor, and they meet the witnesses. In the meantime PA Qin/Duan gets suspicious and asks evil policeman Qian to search again, discovering that Yuanqi’s manor was not searched. When they do, they dont find anyone because Pingjing has anticipated this and hidden everyone in a secret passage.

- The True story is revealed. Evil Policeman Qian, on behalf of Zhang, paid off one Military boat captain to turn his ship and block the following ships, and run them aground. However, to his horror, the ships sank instead of running aground and people started being murdered. The old man was saved by these physicians and they have been in hiding because they want to present the case to the government. On meeting pingjing, he reveals all this.

- By now, Zhang has destroyed all paper trails. But one thing he was not able to do is destroy the sunken ships, which were raised up By Zhang’s boss for any further investigations. PA Qin/Duan is now not very worried about the witnesses, because he has ways to discredit them - but the ships have some irrefutable proof. He rushes over to burn them.

- The smol detective squad has reached the same conclusion- and by the time they reach, two ships are burnt. However there is a third ship which is still sunken, and the old captain draws the location for them.
