ok so this week I rewatched portions of Kinnporsche, which again means I'm back on my vegas & porsche frenemy bromance bullshit BUT listen

i forgot that for real, a month later after the massacre porsche is calling Pete EVERY DAY. he is calling every single day with like weird "u got this bro" daily affirmations & getting updates on vegas' Journey of Healing. that is so fucking beautiful I don't even know what to do with this delightful canon fact that my memory had erased

also! in the Uncle Thee's death scene I love how vegas steps over from his gun stance to clutch porsche's shoulder and steady him, just being a physical presence as he clutches his head in confused pain. good shit 💯💯

feeling some kind of way as well about how vegas asked after chay and porsche wasn't upset or threatened in the slightest. god he subconsciously wants to be vegas' friend so bad lmaoooooo

plus that whole moment where porsche is like what happens now and they basically talk around how there's gonna be a gang war and it's honestly 1000% my jam, how they are on 2 opposite sides of this conflict and are matter-of-fact how it's all gonna go down, and porsche just wants him to look out for pete and actually appears to take him at his word, because that is normal behavior. "I'll handle it" oh ok then porsche. honestly. !

god also I still love the scene in ep 12 I think? where vegas lets porsche punch him twice and then they just move on from that time vegas pulled into him his anti-Kinn mindgames & threatened to shoot him lmao. 'I don't trust u' but yo take care of my boy, I brought him out from safety for you guys to get closure. also I'll meet u at dawn to go play detective plez bring 5 million for bribes thx bye 👌

YEAH! So lil disclaimer about my media consumption habits: I tend to instinctively get a fave character and focus my attention almost exclusively on them. I'll consider other characters, but usually only in relation to my fave (or in rare cases, I'll get a secondary fave--ie what Kinn managed to do LOL)

Getting that out of the way bc ppl who follow may think I DISLIKE a character for not rlly engaging w them, but it's admittedly more indifference.

Vegas is kinda a character like that for me, but I am OBSESSED w his relationship to Porsche. There is this tug of war between them where Vegas is playing mind games, but in the wrong way, and Porsche can see through him, but in the wrong way.

What I mean is there is a uniqueness to their dynamic: Vegas tries to entrap Porsche how he does all of Kinn's boytoys, which is fucking. Porsche can recognize Vegas is coming on to him, but that turns him away from Vegas's advances.

The only time Vegas's manipulations land are when he's faking friendship (I happen to think Vegas manages this bc internally, he WANTS that kinda connection and the sincerity shows through, but when he sees an opportunity, he capitalizes on it and burns any goodwill--it's self-sabotaging wo necessarily meaning to bc he can't rlly help it w his...deal)

And Porsche DOESN'T trust when Vegas comes onto him bc of sleeze factor, but he does happen to have a natural affinity for kindness, so he's very weak to shows of friendship, which leaves him vulnerable to Vegas's cycles of remorse and betrayal.

I also think the only reason Vegas's entreaties of friendship work on Porsche is bc, again, I think there IS a part of Vegas that wants that friendship. Remember that Porsche does not fall for any of Korn's sweet grandpa schtick, so it's not like he's naive. And we've seen him being mildly repulsed by Vegas's advances, so it's not attraction.

I think Porsche instinctively picks up on Vegas's true yearning and falls for it despite Vegas eventually acting against his own self interest to manipulate Porsche again and again.

These different facets of their relationship are what absolutely FASCINATE me.

It's also why I feel like eventually, Porsche would forgive Vegas for what he did in ep 4 (they can't do that tho bc I full-on believe Kinn would shoot him on-sight and ruin that tentative alliance)

2022

2022 is over, what a weird and interesting year it has been for the BL world! 🤡

A lot of series, that I didn't expect anything special from turned out to be unexpectedly great for me. However, many series that I expected to be miracles turned out to be just avarage or even meh 🤷‍♀️

I haven't finished a lot of series. And to me that was the most surprising thing. Even those that I watched with some kind of interest, I just eventually... dropped or fastforwarded. Basically - after a week's break, I just didn't watch the next episode. This had rarely happened to me before 🤔 so I guess it’s a sign of something, idk (too many series? too many mediocre series that can’t keep my attention?). Anyway, I tumblr-watched many dramas, as in, I checked the gifs, read the reviews and that was enough...

So here’s my little summary:

The above series started well, AND ended well. They just either maintained high quality from start to finish, or even their quality increased with each new episodes.

✨Shows that started well but either flopped, or clearly had no idea how to finish, or ended flat or did something really stupid in the finale that ruined the whole show for me:

Ghost Host, Ghost House - until the first half of the episode 7, it’s a 10/10 show, after that, this series doesn't exist for me, so angry with that one

The Miracle of Teddy Bear - I hate the finale SO MUCH, the rest of the episodes are 10/10, again, so angry with this one

Enchante had a chance to be a great show, what a waste..

Old Fashion Cupcake ended a bit anti-climactic, although otherwise the series is GREAT!

KinnPorsche - sort of? I mean, I LOVE Kinn and Porsche, but since the last few episodes kind of lost their focus on them, it stopped being that interesting..

✨2022 had another amazing thing, which was couples that had spectacular chemistry, or some great scenes together (quite often on shows that were otherwise weak plot-wise or simply boring for me, that I wouldn't normally watch, if not for that one couple). These definitely include:

Kevin and Pluem (GHGH) - who went beyond any scale in terms of naturalness in the relationship (which the show ignored in the end with a stupid, forced breakup)

Kinn and Porsche - forever the most beloved soft husbands, the best relationship on and off screen, Mile and Apo my beloved 💖💖💖💖

Jang Jae Young and Chu Sang Woo from Semantic Error, as well as ->

Moon Seol Won and Kim Ceol Soo from Oh! Boarding House - both couples prove, that Korea can also make a  BL, in which the guys are clearly into each other :)

Phayu and Rain from Oh! My Sunshine Night - in one show a couple I hate (sorry OhmFluke fans) and a couple that literally blew my mind

Nuea and Toh from Secret Crush - again, chemistry off the scale

Khoa and Dung with Mr. Cinderella - I love them for their naturalness and playfulness

Sky and Paitong from La Cuisine - had the same effect on me as Phayu and Rain, an unexpectedly hot couple in a very average series (their kiss in the car? woooooooow)

Dan and Yok from Not Me - my GOD but I was obsessed with them - until about the time they kissed for a first time, then their arc became so terribly stupid

Shogun and Maitoh (Why you..) - a very nice romance, Maitoh is gay from the start, which was a nice thing, also what I loved is that they ended up as a couple, I was so sure that Maitoh would end up with Shogun's rival "as a reward" for his long pinning

it's late but brief ep 12 kp updates

vegaspete storyline is. a lot so far. i do like it, even tho it feels extremely speedrun by being brought in so late. them bonding over the abusive dads thing was good, the unhinged bdsm is sexy, and somehow despite the torture and light sexual assault they have better consent than kp for their first sex scene plus vegas uses a condom, so. a confused thumbs up about that

vegas babe i think your hedgehogs die because you keep them in antique birdcages with a light scattering of sawdust and no toys or stimulation or places to curl up. i hate to tell you this because you are Very wet and sad about it but. this is probably on you

you know how i said kinn was still likeable/enjoyable...? unfortunately not anymore. the followup to the bar sex scene was way too suddenly 'cute and sweet fluff' for me to really like it, and then the fucking tawan storyline happens, and i hate everything about it because 'ex from the past comes back and is an arbitrary villain' is not my least fave romance trope but it's Right up there, and it's a whole thing of kinn. not looping porsche in on important information and then blaming him for not wanting to be locked up/being mad kinn doesn't trust him. and he has just not recovered from that, because they keep on being either cloyingly cute while nothing happens, or it's another 'porsche get the FUCK out of there' scene. there are 2 eps but i'm genuinely unsure if kinn can get himself out of my bad graces in them. guess we'll see

currently i'm like. vegas has 2 hands. yes he lightly sexually assaulted porsche and nearly shot him and lied to him but. kinn has also done all those things and he's more insufferable, plus even if it's fake or w/e vegas and porsche had cute chemistry. plus if he and porsche and pete had a thing their abbreviation could be pvp

kim and chay are INSANE. they have so little time but every moment is fantastic. kim finds out chay has a shrine to him and is like 'hot. write me a love song, kid'. he then tries to ghost him and chay lightly stalks him in order to find him and perform his love song on the sidewalk. they sort-of kiss and cuddle together overnight and chay's like 'i love you! do you love me' and kim makes dial-up noises for five minutes while looking for emotions that he stopped having at the age of seven, and finally settles for, 'i'm hungry'. chay confronts him about lying and is wailing sobbing emoting his little heart out and kim is just like ._. then chay decides to cope by bailing on music college, styling himself to look more like kim, and trying to get into substance abuse (this FAMILY!!) whereupon kim remembers the emotion of anger and shows up just to punch a guy, yell at chay ambiguously, and leave. obsessed with them. no idea where this is going

FIRST SHIP

hmm. Well the first time I experienced a "ship" was when I watched "Feriha" / "Adini Feriha Koydum" and I've been hooked ever since.

Having grown up watching typical Indian television, Feriha was a breath of fresh air for me with its semi realistic concept. My fellow Indians can probably relate to this, indian television takes the "supposed to be unrealistic" thing to extremes and they are going crazier by the day. it isn't uncommon for one single drama/series to go on for more than 2 years all while airing daily and having special episodes.

Anyways, Emir was my first ever crush and he had an extremely unique name for a 12y/o Zeph(me) (who is now extremely fascinated and obsessed with names). I hold Feriha very close to my heart despite every "toxic" trait portrayed in it and it will always bring me comfort.

LAST SONG

One thing about me is I'm obsessive about everything I do (except studying ofc🙄). Music is always playing in my room and I am the textbook definition of not choosy about it. One of my all time favorite songs in Our Last Dream by DPR Cream and it is also my comfort song. it's helped me sleep, ground myself when I dissociating too much and calm down from hyper situations. I will never leave a chance to not recommend it and I will leave a link for it here.

LAST MOVIE

the last movie I watched was Pink. (dir. Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury). it is an indian movie about 3 girls who were sexuallly assaulted by 3 guys they go to dinner with. the guys take the acceptance of the dinner invite by the girls as a sign of interest.

the movie also revolves around the stereotypical views of the older Indian generations that girl who have male friends, get home late at night, are living alone, willing go out with males are not *good* people and can be termed as wh*res or c*ll girls. it also depicts a lawyer who represents the girls in court and bring them justice.

"These boys must realise that No ka matlab No hota hai. Use bolne wali ladki koi parichit ho, friend ho, girlfriend ho, koi sex worker ho ya aapki apni biwi hi kyu na ho. ‘No’ means no and when someone says No, you stop."

these are the final words of the lawyer before he rests the case and I will always remeber them. these words hold such magnanimous power, it can't be said better.

FIRST SHIP

Ever? Hmm, before Pacey and Joey it was Anne and Gilbert from the Anne of Green Gables series (books AND Kevin Sullivan’s tv adaptation from the mid-1980s). Gilbert Blythe was my first crush. Anne and Gil’s relationship taught my younger and impressionable self that love was friendship caught on fire and to never settle for anything less; that you can fall both slowly and ardently. Gilbert and Anne set the goalpost for all my future ships, with Gilbert proving that sometimes the nice guy does get the girl.

Also, I cannot imagine a more picturesque backdrop to fall in love in than Prince Edward Island. It’s on my bucket list to visit.

I’ve been listening to a lot of K-Drama OST lately. I usually have one song on loop for weeks until it wears itself out on my spotify. Last month it was “With You” by Jimin and Ha Sung Woon from Our Blues (fantastic drama btw, I ugly cried in nearly every episode). This week it’s “Goodbye” by WENDY from The Beauty Inside.

LAST MOVIE

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but just yesterday I rewatched Leap Year on Netflix. I shamefully also own the DVD. Gah, *hides face* don’t look at me. 

It’s a cheesy, clichéd, and improbable romcom about an American who impulsively follows her boyfriend to Ireland to propose to him on February 29th. Cue the endless mishaps and series of incredibly manufactured bad luck. She ends up falling instead for the stranger who helps her on the way. The script is silly and absurdly unrealistic, but damn if the chemistry and charm of the two leads doesn’t save the day. 

My favorite scene is when Matthew Goode’s ‘Declan’ wakes up alone on a bus stop bench and realizes that Amy Adam’s ‘Anna’ has left him without waking him to say goodbye. The disappointment and regret in his body language is so palpable that Anna who is standing behind him watching, feels every ounce of his turmoil. She studies him for a beat before breaking the moment with banter. And damn, Matthew conveyed all this just by the way he stands and very subtly slumps his shoulders in defeat. And Anna’s reaction to seeing him this way is just…so telling that you want to shake her and say c’mon girl, you’re chasing the wrong guy. 

It doesn’t hurt that this era of young Matthew Goode is totally my aesthetic. Just look at him. Add to all this the brogue-y accent and WOOF.

I consume written media the same way I consume music and shows. I devour it. I practically subsist on Ao3 content alone. Lately, it’s been a lot of Red, White & Royal Blue fics in anticipation and giddiness for the upcoming movie.

I’m in the middle of season 2 of my annual West Wing binge-watch. I’m by no means into politics, but I have yet to discover better American television than Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing. It’s nearly perfect in its execution.

Why Kinn’s voice fucks me up: a silly little analysis

I’ve been obsessing over this for a solid month now but haven’t seen anybody really talk about it in depth so I’m taking it upon myself to write this meta. Dw my brand as Unhinged Shit-Stirrer in the tag remains intact. 🤙🏻

This post is kind of hard to do without audio clips (and I’m way too lazy to do all that lol) but hopefully screenshots will still give you a sense of what I’m talking about.

First things first, let’s talk about Mile’s voice. Especially next to Apo, he comes across as a lot quieter, more reserved, and even when he’s excited his voice tends to be softer, not really high per se but lighter. My guess is he’d be a tenor if he sang, mayyybe a baritone with a more limited lower range.

In real life, interviews, BTS clips, etc, his voice makes him sound gentler, more mature, more approachable, even a little shy. His voice projects kindness and gives you the sense that he’s the sort of person you’d like automatically if you met him.

It would make sense then, in his role as Kinn, if he altered his voice, spoke lower or louder, affected a different timbre and tone, all to add to his appearance as someone dangerous and maybe even violent. It’s an obvious choice to make, given not just Kinn’s personality on the page but also the world he lives in, a world dominated by men and toxic masculinity where he’s already dealing with derision and snide comments for being openly gay. It would be completely reasonable for someone like Kinn to use every tool he can to protect and enhance his image and especially his masculinity, which would include his voice.

But Kinn doesn’t do that. Mile doesn’t do that. His voice stays more or less the same in the series as it does in real life, obviously with a little more dramatic tension involved. Kinn speaks softly, calmly, even when he’s at his angriest. Sure, he can go a bit louder in certain scenes, like when he’s running from those gunmen in ep1 or when that hot assassin is beating the shit out of him with her baton (ma’am I am begging u for literally just one date, pls), but there’s always a softer undertone to his voice despite the occasional need to yell.

So how exactly does the exact same voice manage to convey two totally different personalities and general energies? How does Mile totally embody this character who’s extremely dangerous, possessive, ruthless, and often violent, with that soft, gentle voice?

Because in the context of the story, that voice tells us something about Kinn. It’s intentional on Mile’s part, an interpretation of who Kinn is and how he interacts with the world, and it immediately breaks him out of the mold of this archetype that viewers will want to instinctively place him in.

In the first episode alone, that voice tells us three things.

1) Kinn is comfortable and confident in his skin. Does he have issues? Fuck yes. But he doesn’t give a shit about trying to appear threatening or dangerous. He expects that everyone already knows this. His quiet voice in moments like that first scene with the Italian mob show that he doesn’t need to appear anything. He knows he’s in control, and he’s confident everyone else knows it too. His reputation precedes him, and he doesn’t bother with projecting power through his voice when he already sees the power as his. (Another indication of this is his clothing. His suits could present as a kind of armor, and they do in a way, but he’s just as comfortable, emits the same level of charisma, when he’s in casual clothes or even matching silk pajamas. I won’t talk more about the silk pajamas because the things I want to say would all get god’s lightning bolt on me w a quickness.)

2) He’s a strategic thinker. He’s learned to keep his outward cool in almost every situation, and moderates his voice accordingly. Even when he yells, it’s well-controlled and only to make himself heard, not to show strength or aggression. In fact, his voice tends to pitch higher when he speaks louder, maintaining that softer undertone. It shows that he’s not reactive, that he’s working to manage his emotions and think ahead while he’s talking. All of that is external though; he’s still a freak and certified gay disaster on the inside.

3) He’s not cruel. He may look like it, may even want people to think he is, but his voice gives him away. His scene with Yok in the bar is staged to threaten Porsche, to make him nervous, but the way he speaks to her, even though it’s partly for effect, is still courteous and kind. He wants Porsche to feel the threat of that interaction, but he doesn’t make anyone else feel that threat unnecessarily. Yok may understand more than she lets on about what’s happening, but there’s no sign she’s overly nervous or uncomfortable around Kinn despite that. (As an aside, the low-class mafia comment and the way he says it is hot, but it also ties back to the first point. He has no need to force artificial authority or strength or power into his voice. His confidence and charisma speak for themselves, and he’s so self-assured that the people around him don’t need any reminders of who he is or what he’s capable of.)

There are a few scenes from eps 2 and 3 that stick out in my mind too where Kinn’s voice is especially important to setting the tone for the scene.

The coffee scene:

Kinn adds a bit of bluster to his voice in this scene, inflecting more and speaking just a little louder overall than he usually does in ordinary conversation. His body language and facial movements are also interesting here, along with the blocking, with him seated and looking up at Porsche, but that’s another post lol. Essentially he’s projecting his voice more, which he doesn’t do much with Porsche, and directing it upward to meet Porsche’s eyes. It adds such a subtle vibe to the scene that I didn’t even notice it on a first watch, but after seeing it a few times it’s obvious what his voice is indicating here: he feels bad. We know (from how he talks but also just the hints we’ve gotten so far) that he’s not cruel by nature or needlessly violent. He did what he did in the previous scene to protect Porsche, but he didn’t like doing it. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it real guilt. He’s practical enough to know he made the right call and he’s not close enough to Porsche to truly care about him yet. But I really think in this scene he’s working a little too hard to meet Porsche’s eyes, to act like himself. His voice is a little louder and more...provocative isn’t the word, but something like it, to give no room in the scene for any appearance that he does feel bad for what he did. This is one instance where he does raise his voice to project an image of strength and maybe even defiance, and all so Porsche doesn’t have any reason to wonder if he regrets hurting him. Babie behavior imo but go off king

The wound tending scene:

Kinn does this really fun thing where when he’s being possessive or reasserting his dominance (jfc Kinn are u gonna pee on him next, like ffs), he softens his voice, makes it a teensy bit slower, and enunciates very clearly. When he does this, it’s to make you lean in to listen, to make you pay extra attention. It’s a power play, and it’s interesting that he uses it so often on Porsche. He wants Porsche to lean in, to pay extra attention to him, and even if he thinks it’s solely to put an employee in his place, it’s obvious to the viewer that there’s something else going on.

The pier scene:

This is pretty much the first scene where we see Kinn really let down his guard and be emotionally intimate with Porsche, even if it’s only because he’s drunk and his inhibitions are lowered, as seen earlier when he was shaking his tiddies at Porsche like it was a Lizzo concert. It’s not just that he’s looser and smiles more easily and talks more freely; it’s also that his voice is lower, which lends a sense of intimacy to the scene despite the open space around them. He’s talking to Porsche, focusing his eyes and his voice on him, rather than at him. There’s also something about his tone that feels...idk receptive, like he’s speaking to Porsche on equal footing for the first time. It makes me wonder what he’ll sound like when he’s being genuinely affectionate and loving toward Porsche, because his voice here sounds like a taster of that even though they’re nowhere near that point yet.

In general, Porsche makes Kinn’s voice do things it doesn’t usually do. Kinn is actually a little less well-modulated with Porsche, given how much he gets under his skin, and it shows. His voice has more variety in it when he talks to Porsche; he swings from a soft murmur to a more brash, loud tone in the span of a few seconds. It’s like Porsche’s chaos is rubbing off on him a little, messing with his control. He feels more human because of it, more dynamic, which I think is a good indicator of how Porsche will change him more generally as a person.

way of the househusband kinnporsche au where kinn leaves the mafia life to live a domestic househusband life for porsche except literally everyone from his old life keeps trying to bring him back in like his father who wants an heir from him soon, his crazy cousin vegas who has also left the mafia life but now oddly obsessed with being the best mafia-turned-civilian there is and keeps tryin to remind kinn that hes never gonna adjust as well as him (he has a popular couples instagram w pete seemingly being a sweet normal domestic couple, which is like the Peak of normie behavior), and his old bodyguards who want to bring back their boss

his father cut off his money until he comes back so he has to haggle at the market for the first time in his life and he doesnt know the price of Any vegetables or how much they need

his new favorite activity is going to karaoke with porsche and his friends and everyone back at the compound is strangely emotional to see him sing and not be so stressed (chay sent a video to kim and kim showed tankhun and now everyone knows)

Hi, thank you for the question. Before I go deep into my thoughts, here's a quick summary and break down of what I saw in the promo for episode 5.

 

Summary:

Aftermath of Episode 4- Kinn wakes up looking very troubled and worried, while Porsche is asleep.

I do think due to the nature of what happened in 4, this will be a massive thing that both Kinn and Porsche will have to discuss and deal with. For Kinn, this is not just guilt festering about losing control and ending up with this situation but also fear, and realisation of what is truly happening with him and Porsche. How they're going to deal with the subject of episode 4, I don't know so I can't predict that aspect, but I think there will be feelings of guilt and some punishment towards Kinn as the aggressor.

-For the Plot however, this situation would definitely unleash a massive well of feelings from Kinn despite the messed up nature and outcome. From thinking it would disappear; this uncontrollable obsession and attraction to Porsche  after he finally did the deed and acted on his lust, and then realising it hasn't,  I think we will see the episode focus on him realising that distance is important because being this way is very dangerous and must be stopped asap:

1. It's dangerous because Porsche is his bodyguard and people talk and are looking for ways for him to fall, Vegas is already manipulating and using this over him. He's become somehow weakened in front of his subordinates (other guards who saw his frantic panic) and he's now seen as having favourites, weakened in his resolve and his claim to being better than his father, which people keep hinting they don't think he is . His father is also telling him this, so the steps to regain his control is to show power and show distance and coldness so he can still seem unmoved by his bodyguards and in control of his situation. He can't afford to seem vulnerable and emotional.

2. It's dangerous because it is so clear that Kinn has trauma from love, and he has tried to lock it away and avoid it at all costs, this is also how love makes him; weak, childish, and irrational during important and serious times such as the auction in episode 4. It distracts him from his goals and makes his brain short circuit. Due to his feelings for Porsche, he's frightened because they are irrational, automatic, and uncontrollable and even after episode 4 we know the intensity of that connection is going to be doubled for Kinn, he will try to form a barrier immediately and push it away as soon as possible. Either feigning disinterest like he did when Porsche asked him if he was special to him in the last episode or actually actively making Porsche see him as cruel or cold (his mafia mask). Kinn however is still a kind person, so I believe his guilt will make him want to protect and take care of Porsche but be talked out of it, or Porsche misunderstands and thinks he's the one who sent the message that he doesn't care that he gets hurt or punished despite what happened between them. 

 

Voiceover of Korn telling Kinn he messed up and his reputation is on the line -

This could be why he does what he does as shown in episode 2, he has to be harsh to Porsche to prevent rumours of weakness and favouritism and people saw him leave and be frantic over 1 guard. Korn might have been the one instead that did this for fear Kan would think Porsche was important. Korn might be supportive of Porsche as Kinn's queen but he's also cunning and manipulative; he could punish Porsche for failing to protect his son and getting again into harm's way; endangering everyone. I'm still on the fence of if Kinn is the one who does this because of his desperateness to keep his mask on and look powerful and serious, I can see him do this but because of the nature of what happened in episode 4 he knows Porsche is in pain, and needs care i think his guilt will override his need to be cold and distant. Like he will stay away but to send people to hurt Porsche? Not sure about that. But it could be a misdirect, he could send the guards with an instruction to instruct and reprimand Porsche but didn't know that, that's the way they'd do it, like expecting them to scold him instead of actually violently harassing him.  But we'll see.

 

Porsche tied up and being taunted by Ken and Big in the pool scene: they seem gleeful taking it out on him this could be either

1. They decided to teach him a lesson on their own to punish him for being incompetent, I can see this because the show showed in episode 4 their frustration with the favouritism Porsche recieves, they will kind of snap on their own and want to teach him a lesson and because Porsche is weakened at the moment and they have a chance of doing major mental damage to his self esteem as he deals with the trauma and mental struggle of what happened in episode 4. Both Ken and Big walked away once Kinn screamed for them too, they looked angry and annoyed because Kinn wouldn't normally do this for the guards. Ken is irritated because he feels Porsche is incompetent as a guard and shouldn't be in his position, and Big is jealous and upset about the affection Porsche receives from Kinn. I think the show could use them as tools to further worsen Porsche's mental struggle and vulnerability of this situation and make him think even furthur that Kinn does not see him as special at all, which will lead to him wanting to leave.

2. Kinn sent them because of protection and running away from his realisations, again this makes sense as we've seen him have to hurt Porsche before for both their benefits and protection in episode 2 with Macau. However it could also be how he avoids the truth he keeps convincing himself about, that Porsche is not just a guard to him and he's important as a romantic interest (which is something he's not ready to accept or move on from)

3. Korn sent them and Kinn has no clue but this causes Porsche to misunderstand that Kinn sees him as a rebellious guard like the others with no special favours. This is also interesting because Korn doesn't want to seem harsh of Porsche in fact he normally lets him get away with things others can't; he has a favour on him so I don't know if he could be the one that does this unless the show is ready to show more hints to his cold and calculating Mafia above his relationships energy. However I think he's still gonna be a hidden threat for now, so this is least likely in my opinion.

 

Why Porsche shouldn't get special favours:

-Special treatment already shows chaos and disorder in terms of how Kinn rules and controls his subordinates, it makes Kinn look like a pushover and unfair making the other guards lose respect and see Porsche as a rival the most. But also exposes Porsche to Vegas completely as a target (he already is) and others who are trying to find Kinn's Achilles heel.

-He needs to learn to be more protective and how serious his body guard duties are, he's a diamond in the rough sure but he can't be putting himself in these situations, he should be trained more and dealing with him in a fair and strict manner is needed to make him grow in that aspect.

 

Why he should:

The nature of episode 4, the fact that he is a victim who was assaulted, and he needs a break to process and heal from the activities  both healing of his mind and body. Kinn sending people to hurt him makes no sense, because he's the aggressor and the one in the wrong for taking advantage of the situation.

 

What I think:

Looking at these options I'm unsure, but I do feel like it makes sense for Big and Ken to form a mutiny against Porsche and just use his weakness to attack and use it as a guise for training and growth. To make him feel small without being sent by anyone else. It will also make Porsche more weary and hurt and misunderstand Kinn once again and how he views him (which is a huge thing in their relationship, their inability to communicate or open up and be truly vulnerable and let the other one know they have control over them and see them as special). I think Kinn would go to his father and listen to him but distance himself from Porsche due to his issues, apologise without actually apologising and taking responsibility. Kind of like his duty instead of looking like he actually cares or sees Porsche as more than a one night stand type situation. He'll be apologetic and guilty but his barriers would prevent him from being too honest about how bad he feels and how scared he is to lose Porsche or see him hurt. This will then be coupled with the mental breakdown that makes Porsche want to choose himself over these feelings and try to leave.

 

Kim and his duality

Kim decides to accept the guitar coach role to further his advances and discovery of his mission

-Nothing apart from the fact that their story is going to have more importance, and I think Chay will soon somehow know the truth about the whereabouts of Porsche.

 

 

There you have it, I'm on edge and impatient for episode 5 but I can't wait because the show is slowly having me in its hooks and I adore all the characters so far.

I'm thinking that maybe when more episodes are released it will gain more viewers because let's be real so far its still at its beginnings and altho I think it's already an absolute masterpiece and they have already talked about so many important issues and pointed out so many messed up things that I haven't seen in any other bl show and I think it's a shame people aren't talking about it more. And altho I'm mad more people aren't talking about it now when they're still filming maybe I would be even more scared if they did because I would worry even more about the show being banned. Maybe it will be safer when more episodes are released? But I think it's getting more and more exposure with each episode, the show trended on tumblr as well when episode 3 was released, it made me so happy!

But truthfully? The hypocrisy of some fans just frustrates me. I've been reading posts about bl fans 'being done w engineer and uni plots and wanting something fresh with interesting plot' for at least two years now but when you serve it to them they just??? don't care? they're screaming over some kinn and porshe upcoming bl (and I'm not saying it's bad to be excited about some upcoming bl, don't get me wrong but it's not even airing rn and won't be for next few months) but when they have something this extraordinary airing right now they just... don't care. I find this very frustrating.

okay, so much to unpack here anon bc I agree with everything you said! firstly, I do have some hope that not me will get bigger as more eps are released & bad buddy finishes airing so it can be the biggest bl airing atm. I also know that bl fans tend to gravitate towards shows that have very explicit make out scenes & sex scenes, and since I already know it's gonna be the case for not me I'm hoping that people's obsession with those kinds of scenes are gonna be useful for once & make the show go viral on social media. also about being scared it'll be banned, I can relate tbh bc that thought went through my mind a couple of times, but I don't think a gmmtv show with offgun could get banned & people would be okay with it. honestly if it was banned people would riot, not just bc it's a bl show & it has offgun, but bc censoring it only validates what the thai protests have been saying for literal years. as for hypocrisy of fans to say they don't want engineer & uni plots only for those exact shows to ALWAYS be the biggest bl shows of the year??? preach, I've been thinking the same way. I think most people DO want new plots, but they still want it to be mostly romance focused, which not me doesn't do (I mean it's still hella gay imo but anyways) so people aren't as happy than seeing two engineers make out for 12 eps straight. and I think it's why kinnporsche has received more hype (ngl I'm pretty excited for it too, but in no way is a mafia bl gonna be as life-changing as what not me is accomplishing), bc it has a new dark interesting plot but it's WAY more romance-focused. which I find dumb bc let's be honest if not me was a straight netflix show with the same exact plot but remove the romance, that shit would be one of the biggest shows of the year. here they combined some action political thriller which most people love, with gay romance which most people love as well. it's just the perfect balance of both worlds & if it doesn't BLOW UP before the end of the series, I will be forever bitter about it. my biggest wish is for ais play to allow gmmtv to put the show on netflix bc sadly nowadays it's kind of the only way that broader audiences can discover & fall in love with a show. let's hope the hype only gets bigger from now bc if there's ONE (1) show that deserves it on earth, it's definitely that one.

I've mentioned before how Kinn, Kim, and Vegas don't rlly have a redemption arc, but Porsche, Porchay, and Pete have a corruption arc, and I rlly do mean that, but I don't think the mafia in particular is what corrupts them and I don't rlly think it's bad.

I think KP has a lot of examples of ppl's good qualities metamorphosing into their "worst selves" (I say this bc while the changes don't make them "good ppl," I don't feel that's the intent of their character arcs and I love them all the more for the character development regardless)

Porsche begins his journey due to an overbearing love--his brother and (to a lesser extent) uncle. It's a driving force for him, and eventually that love comes to encompass Kinn, w his love leading him to commit acts he never would have at the start.

Then you have Kinn, whose devotion to family eventually manifests as him adopting the role of family head, opposing everything we hear of him at the start to make him the man he is now.

Kim's observant, which is why he can see what the mafia does to his family, hence his desire to leave it. However, it also leads to a curiosity that devolves into obsessiveness that wraps up innocent bystanders like Chay, whose innocence goes into naïveté at his belief that he can have his fairytale romance and blinds him to the impending betrayals (leading into his respective spiral).

I can go on (like Pete's loyalty going into codependence and Vegas's cunning becoming deception so entrenched he fools himself), but I just think it's interesting how a lot of the "declines" of the characters can be traced back to qualities that we would otherwise find admirable in another setting.

And Kinn is the one Korn blesses out in the car every morning on the way to work bc he’s 30 years old and has yet to date anyone bc his flirting skills are so fking atrocious they cancel out how hot he is

Then Porsche walks into the restaurant one morning, tiddies out as usual, and whoosh Kinn’s gone
