getting into paramore atm, and OH MY GOD FENCES IS LITERALLY A FEVER YOU CAN’T SWEAT OUT SONG.
add a little bit of bells or xylophone or whatever to the instrumental and just generally make it sound a little more 1920’s / circus-esque and swap hayley’s voice for brendon’s and boom. WILDDD

tagged (kinda) by @mingguangsword!
i lost my first draft of this post 😭 let's try again.
1. why did you choose your url? because i am weak for puns, and because i am actually su she. weepy yet defensive lestat de lioncourt at the end of s2 voice, i am him, he is me.
2. any sideblogs? if you have them name them and why you have them. a whole whack of them:
@dailyayao which is just daily screenshots and scans of jin guangyao from all versions of the mdzs canon
@yaozongzhupressoffice my neglected satire blog where i answer asks and reblog stuff in-character as yao-zongzhu. occasionally will make references to his entirely heterosexual feelings for his very good friend ouyang-zongzhu in the tags.
@itwasabeautifulwebbing my minthara baenre from baldur's gate 3 simping blog lol. it's also turning into a catch-all for various video game nonsense, tho i'm definitely not as active there as i am here.
@fakerashid same deal as above, just for armand from amc's interview with the vampire.
3. how long have you been on tumblr? i first joined back in 2011 with a different username back in the migration of the dragon age fandom from livejournal to tumblr, and have been kicking around in some form or another ever since.
4. do you have a queue tag? sure do! 'moling queue' because, as i said, i'm weak for puns.
5. why did you start your blog in the first place? originally this blog had a different username, and i started it with the intention of cross-posting very serious horror fiction thinkpieces from a wordpress site. obviously i stopped doing that and have been enjoying myself a lot more here since i stopped taking myself so seriously lmao.
6. why did you choose your icon/pfp? i don't understand the question, that's literally me, su-zongzhu. (please god recognize this is a joke)
7. why did you choose your header? i just think jgy and sms look very powerful and dapper together in that scene. 😌
8. what’s your post with the most notes? some unfortunate ides of march shitpost that broke containment within an hour, i have it muted and hope to never think about it again.
9. how many mutuals do you have? no idea. lots? lots and lots?
10. how many followers do you have? 1271 as of this morning.
11. how many people do you follow? apparently 400 on the nose
12. have you ever made a shitpost? absolutely not, i don't have a sense of humour or believe in laughter.
13. how often do you use tumblr each day? every time my attention wanders pretty much lmfao (despondent)
14. did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? never!!!! 😬
15. how do you feel about ‘you need to reblog this’ posts? i ignore them.
16. do you like tag games? yes!
17. do you like ask games? "i love them, but i don't like chain asks" <- same hat
18. which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous? "probably ray" <- oh no oh dear 😬 i think if i qualify as tumblr famous (doubt.jpeg) then probably a bunch of my mutuals are, too.
19. do you have a crush on a mutual? i am boring and married so no.
20. what is the last song you listened to? this performance of the famous "flowing water" composition for the guqin.
21. what are you currently watching? nirvana in fire, and it's consumed my soul. mei changsu 👀...... /clenches my fist
22. sweet/ savoury/ spicy? "savory"! <- correct!!!
23. what is your current relationship status? "literally on my way to break up with someone T_T i'll be single in a few hours!!!" <- omg fennel!!??? um, as i said above, i'm married! no plans to divorce mr. sushesaid, he surprised me with flowers and takeout from my favourite indian restaurant yesterday because i was having a rough day.
24. what is your current obsession? jin guangyao. it's still jin guangyao. it's probably going to be jin guangyao this time next year too.
25. what are nine albums/ songs you've been listening to lately?
it's not an album, but basically all of the ensemble and solo performances by zi de guqin studio on youtube.
return to cookie mountain, tv on the radio
the wellermen's album of shanties and other arranged covers
the hades 2 videogame soundtrack
the baldur's gate 3 videogame soundtrack
the chain, fleetwood mac
all of the lyrical ballads from the kentucky route zero videogame soundtrack (are u noticing a pattern, because i am)
the haven videogame soundtrack
the assassin's creed valhalla videogame soundtrack

frankcore july 2024 update !
we're already in the middle of the month lmfao i'm very not consistent with this. this month's batch is just straight up anything really. fair bit of electronic though not in the most frequently seen veins on these roundups, a bunch of Guitar Music, a couple of pop and r&b tracks here and there. you know the drill
in regards to the electronic section: there's two recognizable sections of the playlist this month, one for drum and bass tracks right at the end which is not precisely uncommon for me but there usually isn't this much, and another one for idm, which isn't the most common sight here as far as i remember. the first one happened because of me going through a rym list of liquid dnb tracks and i picked two of my favourites from that batch, both coming out on brazilian label innerground, one from its founder dj marky alongside xrs, and another from the relatively obscure producer (to me at least) pennygiles, but there were a lot of highlights outside of those, check it out here if you're interested. the two other tracks here fall into crossovers with pop and r&b, which is a genre intersection i'm always keeping track of; one curiously enough being influenced by bossa nova, by korean pop power duo sumin & slom, and the other merging minimal dnb, dancehall and r&b from akriila, an artist whose recent output has made me very excited to hear her soon-to-be-released debut album.
as for the idm side, you have the absolute legends boards of canada with an expectably mistfiying track from their watershed album music has the right to children, a track from caribou before he started using that moniker that fits neatly into the whole idm-downtempo hybrid sound of acts like the aforementioned boc, and a haunting yet enchanting track from emer and ugne uma that blends clinical, spacious idm production with ambient pop idioms.
the rest of the electronic picks of this month are mostly crossovers with pop and r&b. some of them are not (one of the new singles for sophie's upcoming posthumous album reads more as a straight four-to-the-floor tech tool, and axolotl by doon kanda is a now-nostalgic piece of witch house that also feels very dancefloor heavy surprisingly) but most of it absolutely does: the witch house infused trap grooves of today by tirzah, the art / ambient pop influenced by late 80s electronic and new age stylings of susumu hirasawa, smerz working within the parameters of deep house to deliver a disorienting, hazy and glitchy r&b track, yawning portal giving a carly rae jepsen deep cut (i wasn't familiar with it, at least) the ambient trance treatment and creating a heavenly and ethereal vibe, nick león and erika de casier delivering a surprising mix of dreamy r&b with trance idioms as well as brazilian funk and raptor house (!) rhythms, promising j-pop group f5ve making their best track to date with a track influenced by 90s hardcore and ddr soundtracks, and last but not least, no me molestes mas by holy girl! i debated whether i should've shouted this one out when she dropped the track on youtube but i ended up not doing so and waiting for it to finally be posted onto dsps, and thank god it did, easily one of my favourite tracks of the year and probably my favourite track released by an uruguayan artist altogether so far this year, a lovely piece of indietronica (reminded me personally of some of the work by max tundra, but i don't think that's really the inspiration behind it) with slightly snarky yet charming and earnest lyricism, just a very wholesome and comforting song imo.
speaking of uruguayan artists, though, and moving onto the Guitar Music section of the playlist, obelisco dropped what is likely to be the best uruguayan album of the year, i picked the balladesque midwest emo single plan perfecto for the list, but i could've also gone with the more classic hardcore sounds of their other single mundo paralelo, or the many heavy and aggressive post-hardcore showings like ojos or eco, or the other emo showing of the project in the form of the song fuego (any of those would've probably been better for the flow of the playlist also, but i'm stubborn lol), it is seriously a stellar record, exactly as impressive as i expected it to be, it's varied yet quite short so i feel like there's definitely a lot of replay value to be had with it, definitely recommend it.
other picks in this category include: fucking Steely Dan of all bands (i swear, this has been the year of me actually enjoying the stuff i've been dunking on for no reason and subsequently making a fool out of myself, woe is me!), very charming folk pop from big thief, which is an act that i haven't really paid much attention to because i feel like i wouldn't connect much with them but i guess i'll have to change that at some point, a continuation of the hardcore and emo patterns with a track from refused's seminal the shape of punk to come album as well as a cut from jimmy eat world's most lauded (deservedly so) album, and finally, a 12 minute ethereal post-rock / dream pop / baggy piece from mica levi which feels very enveloping and entrancing throughout.
and to wrap up, the tracks i haven't mentioned yet: beautiful, enchanting ambient pop / r&b from TWEAKS; a classic track from janet's classic album the velvet rope which i finally ended up getting to listen to in full and it's as good as i expected it to be; and the only hip hop related thing on the playlist this month, a cut from jawnino's very solid mixtape 40 from earlier on this year, which pays homage to classic grime production with more eccentric mc-ing as well as a welcome guest appearance from james massiah aka babyfather's dj escrow.
tube it!

🎶✨when u get this u have to put 5 songs u actually listen to, publicly. then, send this ask to 10 of your favorite followers (non-negotiable, positivity is cool)🎶✨
lakjdfkadjf SO SORRY this has been in me ask box for so long i didn't mean to ignore you @leewalberg. 😭
picking only five songs is so hard but i've managed to (somehow) done it by separating them into kategories so here it goes!!
category 1: k-pop/c-pop. i managed to narrow this down to just Yixing's songs (surprise surprise) and my final pick is Ambush from his Producer album (2021)! i fell in love with that song pretty much from the first listen but i've also been revisiting it a lot lately. the whole album in general is amazing with quite a lot of repeating motifs all over but Ambush is definitely me favourite. ^_^
category 2: english. am torn between me personal holy trinity of Florence + The Machine, Hozier, and All Time Low (one of this is not like the rest), but ultimately i guess i'll have to go with All Time Low's Stay Awake (Dreams Only Last For A Night) from their 2008 album So Wrong, It's Right. that song has been my faithful companion through thick and thin since i was a kid so like. i have to choose it.
category 3: indonesian. alkfjkladjf HELP this one's the hardest to pick but ... Sandhy Sondoro's Malam Biru from his self titled album released in the distant past of 2010 -- that's me final answer. i guess it's more of a jazz-y song? alkdj idk much about genres so if you were to tell me am waaaayyy off i won't even be surprised. me favourite thing about this song has to be Sondoro's voice; it feels kinda rough but in a crunchy way. if you try listening to it you'll prolly get what i mean (... or not, lmfao).
category 4: vintage. the late Solomon Burke's Cry To Me (Rock 'n Soul, 1964) babeeeeeeeyyyy. i can't not dance whenever the song plays. found the song the first time on The Man from U.N.C.L.E movie's soundtrack and it hasn't ever left me playlist since. i absolutely adore this song and i absolutely love Burke's voice. i love his voice so much i want to materialise it, liquify it, then inject it into my bloodstream. listening to his voice is not enough i need it to be infused with me DNA. I LOVE HIS VOICE A LOT. i love his voice a normal amount.
category 5: instrumental. Radio Protector by 65daysofstatic, from the album One Time For All Time (2006), definitely. that's the entire essence of me soul captured within the confines of a less than four minutes song. (is it a less than four minutes song? i think it's less than four minutes am pretty sure.) look, forget MBTI and zodiac and all of that, you want to get a reading of me just listen to this song. you'll probably get the picture, and likely a pretty accurate one at that.
...holy shit i can't believe i actually manage to stay on track and only choose five songs. who knew it could be possible?! anyway here's at least several dozens more songs i eliminated during my attempt:
(expand at your own risk because it's long ... like HELLA.)
EXO: Obsession, Groove, Exodus, Growl, Monster (obviously), Call Me Baby, Ooh La La La
Lay: Sheep (obviously), Amusement Park, I'm Not Okay, Good Night, Goodbye Christmas, Bad, Flying Apsaras
Kai: Blue, Mmmh, Nothing On Me
Xiumin: You (WE NEED XIUOLO SOON LIKE REAL BAD)
(G)I-DLE: Oh My God, Put It Straight (the original version, not the Queendom nightmare one), i'M THE TREND, Hwaa, Hann, Last Dance
Taeyeon: INVU, I
SKZ: God's Menu, Thunderous
SVT: Rock With You
ToppDogg: Amadeus, The Beat
HyunA: Lip & Hip, Show Window
All Time Low: Coffeeshop Soundtrack, Hometown Heroes/National Nobodies, Outlines, Weightless (the original 2009's It's Nothing Personal version is good, but i prefer the 10th anniversary It's Still Nothing Personal version better), Monster (a different kind to EXO's), Safe, Kids in the Dark, Satellites
Florence + The Machine: Various Storms and Saints, Mother, Third Eye, Howl (it's kinda like EXO Wolf's distant cousin if you think about it), Light of Love, Grace, No Choir, Shake It Out, Too Much Is Never Enough, Caught, Hunger
Hozier: Talk, Be, Wasteland Baby, Someone New, Work Song, Sedated, To Noise Making (Sing), Movement, It Will Come Back
The 1975: Robbers (i replayed this song for like, three days straight last year non-stop and now it's forever in me On Repeat playlist lol), Chocolate, UGH!, Sex, She Lays Down, Menswear, Please Be Naked (this one's an instrumental but probably my most favourite of all The 1975's works)
Arctic Monkeys: From The Ritz to The Rubble, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor, Still Take You Home, No.1 Party Anthem (lol)
Mako: Ocelot
COIN: Run, Crash My Car
Neon Trees: In The Next Room
Mother Mother: Get Up, It's Alright
Margaret Whiting: Time After Time
Half Alive: Still Feel
Acapella Onion: Jolly Sailor Bold (originally from The Pirates of Caribbean 4)
Sheila On 7: Sepia, Yang Terlewatkan, Melompat Lebih Tinggi, Betapa, Sahabat Sejati
Agnes Monica (now known as AGNEZ MO): Karena 'Ku Sanggup, Tak Ada Logika, Godai Aku Lagi, Matahariku
Peterpan (now known as NOAH): Menunggumu, Menghapus Jejakmu, Langit Tak Mendengar, Walau Habis Terang, Bintang di Surga, Khayalan Tingkat Tinggi
Tompi: Sedari Dulu, Aku Jatuh Cinta, Menghujam Jantungku
Tulus: Tuan dan Nona Kesepian, Jangan Cintai Aku Apa Adanya, Adaptasi
Ayu Ting Ting: Sambalado, Tatitut
Stand Here Alone: JAV
The late Chrisye: Kisah Kasih di Sekolah, Seperti Yang Kau Minta
The late Glenn Fredly: Januari, Terpesona
Gigi: 11 Januari, Nakal
Bondan Prakoso: Ya Sudahlah
Alexa: Dewi, Wajahmu Indahkan Duniaku
Audy: Menangis Semalam
The Dance Company: Papa Rock 'n Roll
Isyana Sarasvati: Keep Being You
Endah N Rhesa: When You Love Someone
Kunto Aji: Terlalu Lama Sendiri
Naif: Mobil Balap, Air & Api
Rif: Radja
Seurieus: Rocker Juga Manusia
(the indonesian songs elimination part really can fill an entire playlist on their own alkdjf i told you that was hard)
65daysofstatic: Await Rescue, Drove Through Ghosts To Get Here, Retreat! Retreat!, trackerplatz, Debutante, Don't Go Down to Sorrow
Emiliano Ercoli: Waiting Place, Buriana, Another One (Inside The Shell), Palingenesi, Unsaid Things
Philip Sheppard: Atomic Cathedral, Welcome to Dystopia
Burial: Prayer
The Best Pessimist: Above the Fog (part 2)
If These Trees Could Talk: From Roots to Needles
so how many songs in total is that? don't ask, at least i manage the complete the main quest of picking five as the main answer lololol the rest is just ... bonus. jfakdjfk let me know if you'd be interested to have all of them compiled in one playlist! <3
#ask game#from leewalberg#my answer is an atrocity but hey an answer is an answer hehe#also idk if i'll forward the ask game to 10 followers because that's just the entire number of followers i have lmfaooo

for ✨funsies✨ here are my picks/predictions for some of the grammy categories (pretty much just the general field + pop + whatever other categories had something i like nominated). might be fun to come back to these and see how wrong i am.
album of the year - folklore. just folklore. it's my pick and given the other albums nominated i think it's a pretty safe prediction too. i don't think any of the other albums really have the same combined degree of critical acclaim + cultural impact
song of the year - cardigan is obviously my pick, i honestly don't know what i would predict. it could go to billie? but idk if the grammys are over her after giving her the sweep last year. don't start now is a great song but i think it's more roty material (not that the grammys really make the distinction nowadays) h.e.r. is well liked by the grammys as far as nominations go so maybe?? but i don't think she's ever won general field and i don't think her chances are all that high unfortunately
record of the year - it should've fucking been blinding lights i would like to see it go to don't start now but i wouldn't be surprised to see post malone or dababy get it lmfao
best new artist - no one i'm really rooting for here, bna is more often a curse than a blessing lmao. on a personal note my favourite artist in the list is phoebe but the award will probably go to megan thee stallion and it'll be well deserved, she had a massive year last year
pop vocal album - why the FUCK is changes here folklore... it would kinda be nice if the general field and the genre fields were split and future nostalgia got it but if taylor is getting aoty it makes no sense for her to not also get pop vocal album 🤷 (also i better not catch any of you trying to say folklore isn't a pop album... it's literally a pop album)
pop solo performance - cardigan i guess... watch them give it to yummy because the grammys have it out for me specifically. honestly i'd be fine with anything but yummy winning.
pop duo/group - is it weird that i kinda really want rain on me to win this adhfsjfjskf i mean exile would be cool too. or even dynamite to keep the stans at bay really again, anything but justin please. i don't even know the j balvin song but i trust dua and if that song winning is what is needed to defeat justin then that's fine with me.
rock performance - i NEED fiona to get SOMETHING. that something should have been aoty but i suppose i'll have to settle for the rock/alt categories. no actual prediction from this category down probably because i don't know what i'm talking about
metal performance - bloodmoney deserves!! something tells me poppy isn't quite at the point of winning a grammy yet but i didn't even expect her to be nominated so who knows what will happen
rock song - again. fiona. the phoebe and tame impala songs are good too.
alternative music album - FETCH THE BOLT CUTTERS FETCH THE BOLT CUTTERS FETCH THE BOLT CUTTERS i'm so sorry phoebe punisher is very nice too but ftbc is my number 1 of the whole year no contest
folk album - song for our daughter is the only one i recognise and i like it very much so go laura go!
that's all from me <3 good luck to all the nominees except justin bieber and i just hope i won't come back to this post after the grammys feeling very upset

i’d like to ask for headcanons where kuroo, iwaizumi, akaashi, and oikawa are singers and one time they are visiting a cafe in which a shy female (the reader) is singing a song created and sang by the boys. how will the boys react and will they approach the fem? hope this is not too much hehe. have a nice day!!
hey, love! we had so much fun writing this that it became somewhat like a dating sim lmfao. we might have went too far and made a background story too. we hope you enjoy and choose your destiny!
The fresh new boy band Ball 4 Volley’s new single, “notice me.” was a hit, and it has been more than a month since the boys were able to take a break
Kuroo, Iwaizumi, Akaashi, and Oikawa chose to spend their day off in the shopping district
They were armed with hats, glasses, and dust masks, of course
For lunch, they decided to dine in a small cafe
A few people seated here and there, the smell of coffee, and a wonderful atmosphere
The boys take their seats and give their order to the waiter attending to them
They suddenly hear a familiar melody and look towards the source of the sound
They see girl seated not so far away, working on her laptop, softly singing “backstage.” which was also a track from their new album
It wasn’t as popular as their new single, but it was something the boys composed all on their own and it meant something to them
Oikawa suggests that they go talk to the girl
Iwaizumi retorts him telling him that they might as well walk up to every fan they have
Akaashi adds that it wouldn’t be such a good idea to surround her like that
The girl then picks up her mug and walks towards the drinks bar
Kuroo gets an idea, takes four toothpicks marking one of them, and suggests that they play a little game to see who will go up and talk to her
KUROO TETSURŌ
Kuroo got the marked toothpick
He was not amused that he was caught by his own scheme
After a few mocking remarks from Oikawa, he stood up and made his way towards the drinks bar
“So you like B4V, huh?”
The girl stops singing and turns to Kuroo, eyes widening at who was in front of her
Before she could let out a cry of surprise, Kuroo raises a finger to his lips and gives a little wink which nearly kills her
“I couldn’t help but notice you singing our song.”
The girl looks down and put her hair behind her ear, saying that she definitely isn’t the only one singing their songs since they’re so good
“Well, I can’t deny that. But still, they wouldn’t be singing the song you were.”
The girl says that it’s just because it had more heart to it than the other songs, and that it’s her favorite song out of their album
She looks up to see Kuroo giving her a tender smile
“Yeah, it’s my favorite too.”
The girl starts blushing at the sight
Kuroo then stands up straight and his extends his hand to her
“Ah, I forgot to introduce myself. Kuroo.”
The girl takes his hand and gives a small laugh, remarking that it wasn’t necessary for him to introduce himself right before introducing herself as well
Feeling a bit more comfortable with him than before, she asks Kuroo the reason as to why that song is his favorite
“That’s a secret.”
IWAIZUMI HAJIME
Iwaizumi got the marked toothpick
It didn’t sit well with him that he had fallen into the trap of both Oikawa and Kuroo but he thought it wouldn’t hurt to talk to a fan especially since she was singing his favorite song of the album
Oikawa tells his Iwa-chan to try not to be too charming and Iwaizumi punches him in the gut before heading to the drinks bar
“Um, excuse me.”
The girl stops singing and turns to Iwaizumi, her jaw dropping at the sight of him
Iwaizumi scratches the back of his neck shyly before continuing
“I noticed you were singing our song, and it’s always nice to see a fan, so the guys sent me over here to say hello.”
He then extends his hand to her, introducing himself
“I’m Iwaizumi.”
The girl shakes his hand, her eyes looking straight down to their linked hands as she introduces herself
They stand in awkward silence for awhile
Iwaizumi notices the leering looks of his band members and tries to continue the conversation
“So you were singing “backstage.” huh? I didn’t think it would be popular.”
The girl breaks out of her shyness a little bit to defend that the song has the best emotion and that it’s her favorite track
She then comments on a certain line of Iwaizumi’s that made her heart clench
Iwaizumi stands in awe at the praise that was given to their song, and then shows a little smile
The girl’s eyes widen and her heart races at the sight of his rare smile
The girl stammers a little as she attempts to ask Iwaizumi what was the story behind the song
Iwaizumi looks back at the table of his group members before turning to the girl before giving her a smile again
“It’s a secret.”
AKAASHI KEIJI
Akaashi got the marked toothpick
He didn’t want to entertain the two children on the table by reacting, so he calmly stood up from the table and proceeded to the drinks bar
Besides, it was nice to talk to a fan face to face once in awhile without all the formalities
He stepped up to her as she was pouring herself another cup of coffee
“Excuse me, may I have a moment.”
The girls turns to Akaashi, gasping as she looks at him in disbelief
She yelps out his name as Akaashi gives a small bow
“Hello, I am Akaashi. Nice to meet you.”
The girl stammers out her name and greeting before she bows several times
Akaashi gives a polite smile
“I noticed you singing and it really is nice seeing our fans enjoying our songs.”
The girl looks straight down as she forces out a response of how much she loves their songs especially the track “backstage.” because she felt how raw the emotion was
Akaashi bends over a little, trying to reach her line of vision
“You really think so?”
The girl was now looking straight at Akaashi, her cheeks starting to burn
The girl looks away, trying to avoid eye contact, and then blurts out loud that she has always wondered what the song writer must’ve been thinking when writing the song
Akaashi straightens up and tells her that it was them that wrote that track
The girl then looks at him, her surprise overpowering her shyness as she confirms it one more time and tells him how amazing the song really is
Akaashi eyes widen slightly before he gives off a little
The girl’s heart flutters at the sound of his laugh
Akaashi composes himself before replying to the girl
“Thank you, I’m flattered by your enthusiasm. By the way, your voice is lovely.”
The girl gets flustered at the sudden compliment
As for what we were thinking of when writing the song—“
He then trails off before smiling to himself
“That’s a little secret of our own.”
OIKAWA TŌRU
Oikawa got the marked toothpick
Oikawa let’s out a cry of protest as all the other members tell him he deserves it
Iwaizumi tells him that it was his idea anyway and Oikawa sulks a little before going over to the drinks bar
He was a bit excited by the chance to talk to a fan though
“Hello, there~”
The girl turns to Oikawa, blurting out his name
Oikawa gives a smile
“Yes, yes, it’s me, Oikawa. And what would your name be?”
The girl looks straight down, nervously putting her hair behind her ears, forcing her name out of her trembling lips
“I couldn’t help but hear your beautiful voice singing our song, and it’s so nice to hear people enjoying our music so I thought I’d pop by! I thought for sure though people would be singing ‘notice me.’ since it’s the song that made it to the charts.”
The girl stammers our that she likes “backstage.” then defends that she does like “notice me.” and then nervously tries to cover up again that she just really likes “backstage.” and that it’s her favourite
She then hears a laugh and looks up to see Oikawa being the source of it
“You have been the most entertaining fan to talk to so far.”
Her face burns up at the sight of him laughing and immediately turns to the floor once more, her hair falling back to her face
Oikawa puts her hair back behind her ear and smiles
“Don’t worry, it’s my favourite song too.”
The girl musters up her courage to express to Oikawa that she loves how emotional he gets when singing his parts of the song
Oikawa gets a bit flustered at the statement asking if he was really that strange while singing
The girl desperately defends that he’s not strange at all and it’s actually very attractive saying that it looks like he really is in love
The girl then musters her courage to ask if it’s just acting or if he really is in love right now
Oikawa’s eyes widen and look back to his table, before turning back to the girl
He then laughs a little, causing the girl to blush and look back at her question
“You really are an interesting one.”
His smile turns to a more tender one right
He then looks back up at the girl, giving her one of his flamboyant smiles
“That’ll have to be a secret for now.”

Album...blind listen? TLT- zero_one
Here’s how this happened.
Well, mama didn’t raise no coward. That’s a lie, she totally did, but that’s not the point.
I am not super familiar with TLT’s work outside of the songs that went super viral (the MLP/FNAF stuff was hard to escape for a bit), so while I know the general style they used to run by but that might not be relevant this many years later. Also its been long enough that I’ve forgotten what half of those songs sounded like and I’m sure not going back and defiling my pure ears for this livereact.
What’s the worst that could happen?
Ok not gonna lie the first few bars of the first song (What I Want) kinda brought everything back at once, so that’s probably a good sign. TLT learned how to use drums that aren’t just kick/snare, good for them. I’m liking where this main synth line is going, not huge on the vocals but I suspect that’s not really what we’re here for. I didn’t really see this bridge coming, but it feels a bit underwhelming from what I recall of their previous works- but of course it’s not fair to ask for them to stick to the same style for a whole decade. I’m feeling like, 7 or so for this- I think it’s good but not great.
Drunk, huh. I’m surprised a song like this didn’t come out a decade ago when LMFAO was big. That is not a compliment, by the way. Okay I wasn’t on board with this until about a minute and a half in- the whole thing falling apart a little as this fucker gets obscenely wasted is fun and it snapping back to business worked well imo. The bridge of this is just Feel Good Hit of the Summer by Queens of the Stone Age but drinks instead of illicit drugs. I kinda wish this song did more interesting things with the instrumental, but it’s fine. Maybe im just extra harsh because it’s relatable…..
Can’t Wait seems to be written about a particular character archetype in media that I just hate- oh and there comes the chorus, what the fuck is going on here? TLT you doing OK mate? I think they’re trying to write the Gen Z anthem here, and it doesn’t really do it for me personally…I’m not a big fan of the vocal style. The vocalist(s, though I wouldn’t doubt the chorus being the same person with modulation) are doing well, but it aint for me. I dunno.
Lazy feels like a more electronic version of a pop-punk anthem from the late 90s/early 00s. Like a Green Day or Blink 182 or something. Actually I think this might be a tribute to that era. If it is, then it’s doing a great job of it? I guarantee it’s not trying to be The Lazy Song by Bruno Mars, but that’s for the best, so. It definitely has that punky rock edge to it which I’m kind of a sucker for. A lot of these lyrics are distressingly relatable, and I’m wondering if asking me to look into this was a lowkey callout.
I feel like I’ve heard some variant of Sunburn a hundred times before. The kinda shit you hear on the radio all the time, where it’s just some pain-based metaphor for how this bloke feels about his relationship (or lack thereof), and the early-10s EDM inspiration (not old TLT specifically, more your poppy stuff) doesn’t help there. This song is the most frustrating thing on this album so far, because I feel like there’s nothing here for me. I might have been massively biased at the time, but I came out of the EDM apocalypse with one song I liked, and this isn’t it.
I just noticed the cover art for this album uses the same font as System Shock 2.
My immediate thought with Long Time Friends was that it kinda sounds like an angrier Neil Cicierega/Lemon Demon track, and that is the nicest thing I’ve said about anything on here so far. It’s got that jaunty energy he loves putting in his music, the particular kind of which you don’t get in enough tracks these days. …yeah listening to the latter half of this, TFT has 100% listened to Spirit Phone before. (I should talk about that album sometime, huh). I think this is my favourite track on here so far, it’s a lot of fun. Also, the lyrics are pretty good. Honestly the lyrics on this album have been like, a hair away from cringy, but they’re doing a pretty decent job of toeing that line.
The title track is up next, and the song called zero one sounding like this is extremely not a surprise. Man, I don’t think rapping is this bloke’s strong suit? I’ve heard worse, I guess. I do really like how this one’s developing with the instrumental so far- and the bit at 2:00 just happened. Eeeeeghgggh can we take this vocaloid back to the shop please. I feel like I’ve heard this voice effect on other songs before, and I’ve never really been a fan of it. Yo okay so the latter half of this has some polyrhythmic vocals, that’s sick, and doesn’t last as long as I’d like, dangit. Much as I’m a sucker for long songs, this feels like you could have shaved a full minute off of it and substantially improved it.
Holy shit I cannot stand what Animal is doing at the start there. Is that going to continue through the whole thing? Please stop, it’s so distracting. I feel like that’s this song’s “thing”, which is not a good sign. Because the rest of the track doesn’t seem especially interesting as I’m listening to it. I will say, this song (and a fair few of the other ones) do a thing I really like where there’s just no break between verses whatever, mans just keeps going with a half-step there to let you know what’s going on. I’m sure there’s a better way to phrase that, but I sure don’t know it. Oh right, Animal. Ehhhhhhh that background thing completely ruined it for me, sorry.
Penultimately, it’s Fly Home. This is lower key than a lot of the rest of the album, I think, which is fine? Unfortunately this just feels like a filler track to me. You listen to enough albums, you can kinda tell which ones are filler-ier than others- SOAD’s Toxicity has like 3 or 4, and that’s easily one of the best metal albums of all time. I really, genuinely have very little to say about this song, fam. The tone of the lyrics feels almost completely different to the rest of it- this would make sense at the end, as the light at the end of the tunnel, but it wasn’t really built up to (surely Animal wasn’t trying to do that) and there’s another song here.
Speaking of, Chosen. The final track. This wasn’t doing it for me until like a minute in, where all the instrumentation kicks in- that sort of cut back style works better imo closer to the end of the track, not the start. The instrumentation here is just kinda sick, though? Like it keeps on surprising me in little ways I can appreciate. Combined with the vocals it kinda sounds like a 80s prog-adjacent rock opera kinda thing. I’m thinking of Styx, I think, but I’m not super familiar with other things from that style. It does remind a lot of throwback acts like the Protomen. …shit the tracks over. I mean that was a good note to end on!
Uhhh so overall huh. I think this album is pretty solid, some ups and downs, I wouldn’t call it a standout. But at the same time, I guess the album isn’t really for me, so that I’m not as high on it as others might be isn’t a huge surprise. I’m unlikely to come back to it for another full listen, but there’s stuff I did really enjoy- Long Time Friends and Chosen are both really solid, and I think I’d need to get another go at Drunk tbh. On the other hand, there’s some dregs- fuck Animals, didn’t like Sunburn. I dunno. Probably like a 6.5-7 out of 10? But I don’t usually rate things on scales, so take that with a grain of salt.
I hope you enjoyed the bonus music update. Next album review is probably gonna be on Tuesday, don’t know what yet.

rules: answer the 11 questions from the person who tagged you and then make 11 more for the people you tag.
edit: i was tagged again, so i decided to come back and add on to this and i noticed tumblr didn’t actually tag anyone so yeah i fixed that now rip
here are my questions!
1. Book/movie/art piece that made you think the most and why? 2. What’s your favorite physical/personality feature of your bias(es)? 3. What colors and smells reminds you of home? 4. If you could only listen to 30 seconds of one song for your entire life, what song & time interval would it be? 5. Languages you'd like to learn? 6. What are three pieces of advice you’d give to 30-year-old you? 7. If you bumped into your bias on the street and you had no idea who they were, what would your first impression be and what would you do next? 8. Ultimate holiday itinerary? 9. You go to your bias group’s concert, and you’re one of the lucky fans invited on stage for a ~special performance~... what do you do? 10. What made you first notice your bias? 11. Do you have any bad habits?
tagging 11 people: @blushtones @sehunsface @whimsical-ness @yeoleow @fuck-me-up-fam @romantichen @xingmithefool @honeyjongdae @ineedyixing @dropsofletters @chanyoel
sorry if you’ve already been tagged / you don’t wanna be tagged!
@dragon-dust !! thank you love
What’s your favourite flower?
hmmm i’ve said this before but i do love pink lilies! i also love hydrangeas and orange blossoms and i think the skeleton flower is cool as heck (it’s a flower that turns crystal-clear when wet)
Sunrise or sunset?
i like sunrises bc it’s colder and there are always a lot of bugs around at sunset...not to mention it gets dark really quickly!
Favourite childhood piece of music?
mmm a lot bc we used to listen to a lot of music!! but anything by michael jackson or lucky ali is v nostalgic to me
Name a character from a book that you can’t forget.
i don’t have one from a books (rip i’ve never properly liked a book character) but the magician from the webtoon annarasumanara kind of stuck with me? i just felt so sad for him & he reminds me of what i don’t want to end up being
Pictures or gifs?
pictures!
Is there any really famous movie that you’ve not ever seen?
ohhhhh boy a lot! i don’t watch movies much and if i do the last thing i’d watch is romance/comedy/etc so i haven’t seen all those ‘classics’ like the notebook and legally blonde and so on... i’ve never seen high school musical either (or any of those disney channel shows)
Clean desk or a messy one?
it starts off clean and then it gets messy lmao
If you could start again and change only one thing, what would that be?
i would love myself more, and i would’ve made an effort to speak all my languages :(
Five things, one desert island for the rest of your life. What do you bring
(assuming i can’t bring exo) uhhh, because i’m practical: a good knife, large sheet of tarp, indefinite number of matches, clean clothes and something to hold water
Favourite way to spend your free time.
wasting it tbh... but i love having long chats w my friends
Would you rather be able to fly or walk through walls?
i’d fly bc walking through walls would be a lot more easier to get caught at... @technicallymilkshakes !! (i love these questions!)
You’ve been friends with your bias for some time now and you’re pretty sure there’s some mutual attraction between the two of you. How does this attraction get resolved? Does someone confess (who)? Is it more physical? Do you agree to remain just friends? Or does it stay unresolved?
okay okay ASSUMING this ever happens ... i’d confess! i don’t like keeping things that could change my life. even if i wasn’t sure they liked me too. i’d go for a half-relationship/half-friend thing?? bc i hate proper relationships
Do you have a recurring daydream you like to revisit? What is it?
yep! plenty hahaha. i have one where Ambiguous Person and i are hiking through the woods, another where we’re trying to ballroom dance and then one where we’re forced to share a bed... you know the one... (SORRY i’m so soft when it comes to romance)
How did your bias become your bias?
ahhh okay at first my bias was jongin?? bc i usually like the dancers? and i was watching a lot of exo-k so i didn’t even know about jd but like... i watched a couple of lives and his voice just got me... and then of course all those ‘try not to fangirl’ challenges that sucked the life out of me
What’s one song from your bias group that can always make you happy?
i love love love replay! especially the live ver. where they all cried... i cry everytime i hear it too?? and the whole lucifer album also (surprise!! my bias group isn’t exo lmao)
Are you right-handed? Left-handed? Ambidextrous?
right-handed! i can write w my left hand but not for long periods of time
You call in to the radio show your bias is a guest on. It gets picked up and now you’re live on the air. What would you say to them?
i’d say (in my crappy korean) that i love them and i’m so happy i got to talk to them! and that i hope they’re happy and taking care of themselves
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
i’ve only been to two :( both of them were incredible though! i saw yanni live & a classical concert by zubin mehta + the australian world orchestra and !!!! mesmerizing experiences! now if i could just see tsfh i’d die happy
What’s your favorite film genre and what are some movies you would recommend from it?
like i said i don’t like films much but,,, i do love space movies and historical settings! i can’t recall any besides interstellar which most people have probably watched
What do you think other people’s first impression of you is? What do you want it to be?
they probably think i’m kind of rude? ;;;;;;;; bc i’m super shy so i don’t talk much at all? also they probably think i’m homeless or something bc i’m always barefoot, my hair’s always messy and somehow i end up getting dust all over me RIP
Is there a book that you’ve given up on finishing? If so, why?
i’ve dnf’ed a loooot of books! most recently, a court of thorns and roses (s. j. maas) & caraval (stephanie garber) MAN i really hated those
You went to a fansign and your bias signed your album and drew a special note + a little doodle just for you. What does the note say and what’s the doodle? Do you show it off to everyone when you get home or do you tuck it in a safe spot and take it out once in a blue moon to reminisce alone?
ldkfns i’m imagining this and i’m SUFFERING but uhh i’d ask him to draw a cat lmao and write something that makes him happy! and the second one! i’m not a showy person so i’d definitely keep it somewhere safe and take it out when i want to remember :’)
@jds1andonly !!
If you could have any exo member as your twin, who would it be?
probably chanyeol bc i need some positivity! and he’d be really fun to talk to and do everything with
Imagine you have one day where you can eat anything you want: what would you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
assuming this also means no gastric troubles... i’d go to the most expensive vegan restaurants in the world and gorge myself (bc i’m still morally obligated)
What is something you want to do by the end of the year?
oh boy considering there’s only a month and a half left... finish my ongoing series, be done with all my school stuff and ready for my exams in january, and organize the trip i want to go on with my friends after graduation!
What is your dream job?
i wanna be a teacher or a professor! maybe go around the world and teach in poorer regions? i actually have this dream to start an organization for volunteer teaching in low-income areas around the world. after i retire, i want to run a cafe/library in a really secluded place.
What is your favorite part from exo’s unfair performances (any one of them)
oh my godddd they’re all so sickeningly sweet but i like the christmas one with the santa suits and jongdae’s part in the second verse where he goes ‘oooooh oooooh’ with the finger heart? it’s so cute i wanna die

If you could be in any kpop group, which would it be and why?
just for the concepts? id say exo or vixx for the music but i wouldn’t really fit in lmfao so like maybe snsd or EXID
