ur metal concert posting reminded me I need to gush abt smthn sorry- I went to my first metal concert in April and got a boyfriend out of it. met this cool guy who kept saving me from getting sucked into the pit bc im only 5'4 WITH the 3inch platforms I was wearing. afterwards we were talking and found out we both live in the same small town 3hrs away from where the concert was and his place is literally 5 mins from mine. we exchanged numbers and I went over to his place the next day and we've been dating since and tbh he rules (also the concert was Deathklok ft DragonForce and Nekrogoblikon)

Still shocked I went from fully believing we would never get to see any new Metalocalypse ever again to seeing Dethklok TWICE in less than a year's time.

Also loved getting to see hometown boys (+goblin) Nekrogoblikon as well as DragonForce again.

i lied. i have no clue what to put here.

other than writing (obviously) i love movies and music. i also go outside often and go to concerts when i can. some of the most notable bands i’ve seen are cradle of filth, dethklok, senses fail (caught a pick), nekrogoblikon (got a signed setlist), cryptopsy (met the singer which meant a lot to me since this was the band that got me into metal as a kid), my chemical romance, the used, weezer, and obviously many more since these are just the highlights. my top five favorite movies in order from first to last are interstellar, blue velvet, hereditary, her, and martyrs (2008). i swear to god that makes me sound like one of those letterboxd-pilled filmbro losers who are ‘the only ones capable of recognizing good cinema’. i just like them because they’re good. that’s about it. i do like many more movies, though, not all of which are some highbrow horror drama that is really a metaphor for some deeper something. my favorite show is twin peaks but as with movies, i like a lot more. (if you’re curious, you can message me or send an ask). i also listen to a shit ton of music so feel free to ask about that too. i like singer-songwriter stuff and rock/metal mainly, but i listen to literally everything—at least one artist or a handful of songs in each genre and/or time period. i am very partial to music from the 60s and 70s as well but surprisingly not really the rock of that time period; more so things like roy orbison and british folk music of that era.

i may add more here later but hopefully this is good for now.

I went to my first concert alone

tl:dr: 10/10 will do again

The local concert venue will get torn down next year and so far I only took some of my exams there and attended a poetry slam. And because I can't go to any more festivals due to my exams I decided to look up the program.

Surprise, one band I listen to all the time (Nekrogoblikon) will be opening for Dragonforce. (In my opinion) the pairing is pretty wild but Dragonforce was one of my first metal bands and this concert will bring together two different times In my ~music journey~.

Then I started to ask around but they either just attended the Wacken Open Air or were preparing for the Summerbreeze. After some thinking and a lot of doubts, I thought: fuck it! and bought my ticket.

In the past, I went to some festival shows alone but my friends were reachable and I knew they were somewhere. And I could leave at any time if a man decided that anyone presenting female doesn't really listen to metal or that I really needed a partner and got creepily touchy.

But fuck them! I wanted this extra sliver of freedom and the concert was in my city and I could ride my bike to and from the venue.

On the day itself, I was pretty nervous but I spent enough money that I had to go. So I packed my bag got on my bike and got there half an hour before doors were open and apart from some looks everyone left me alone. Got in pretty quick and even though I bought some merch and a drink I somehow ended up in the first row.

It was awesome! I had so much fun! A big factor was that I actually saw the band because no one stood in front of me, but both bands also did great. Definitely one of my top concerts. Somehow I managed to catch a setlist from Nekrogoblikon and even got a photo with the band. In my nervousness, I totally forgot to ask them for autographs on the setlist.

After this, I will definitely go to more concerts alone. The first time is always the hardest but after this, it will get easier. Now the next step would be a concert out of town, but then I would have to take the train, and train stations, alone, at night are still a bit scary.

These were the only pictures I took. I look up the official photographers after the concerts and just save their pictures.

Needed a lot of convincing myself but I finally asked not only for a picture but also a total stranger if he can take it (and handed him my phone).

Bought way to much merch but it was basically *free* because I spent the money I got from donating (selling) my blood plasma.

2. Do you listen to music while you write? If so, what do you like to listen to?

((Habitually, yes. I'm very audially motivated. What sort of depends on the scene and character but as a default I have a few specific lofi streams I like to sit in a lot of the time.

However I also have a handful of what I call 'wakeup tunes', tracks I know are almost guaranteed to get specific muses up and about. a LOT of these are spoilery so proceed with caution, especially with the star time enbys and their spoilerific nonsense.

Blu's are All Fairly Obvious. Narchs has a whole theme picked out (also VERY partial to old CoF if the blog title left any doubt~). Rud likes anything Nekrogoblikon, whereas MAAL has a VERY specific preference.

Ominous may be summoned by any Cyriak or Nero's day you might have to hand because of course he woulge....... u_u

As for the new guys? I feel like Siffs are more a product of where he is in the story, and Loop? Loop is a touch fussier but they're pretty spiteful like that.))

Big BIG into showtunes. Cats, Phantom, Jesus Christ Superstar (I guess I really like Andrew Lloyd Webber...)

I’m coocoo for Starkid and all their musicals. I listen to the Twisted and Trail to Oregon soundtrack on repeat.

If I could seriously recommend anything it would be their Hatchetfield musicals, including their nightmare time series which has some killer songs.

One of my favourite bands is definitely The Orion Experience, they’re so groovy and I love literally every song they put out.

I listen to a lot of instrumentals too? Mostly Celtic folk music (I play a LOT of dnd) but I like video game soundtracks too. The Darkside Detective soundtrack is great if you like spooky funky synth.

Very unashamedly listen to the Bluey album all the time. Dance mode was my most listened to song last year 😂

In regards to metal, I like Sabaton, Nekrogoblikon, Brothers of Metal, Majestica and I’m partial to Avenged Sevenfold for the nostalgia

More classically I love Toto and Erasure, ELO and Elton John, and I’m always add some Frank Sinatra to my playlists

Also Cody Frost, who doesn’t really fit into like any other genre I like so I don’t even know how to describe them but they’re super cool.

I also think every song should have a KK Slider cover.
