I'm a bit curious as well. I'll preface this by saying I've always made an even further distinction because I consider the 'product' that Campaign 1 or 2 is as something different than the 'story' of Vox Machina or Mighty Nein. And as far at the storytelling part goes I think you're right, they're pretty on par with each other.

I'm significantly more a Campaign 1/Vox Machina person (even though I think Campaign 2 is a better 'product') but I don't like modern media that goes for an overly classical fantasy story and I love me the highest concept characters and stories, even if I expect them to grow or become more complicated over time.

From a genre perspective I've never noticed any shared stand outs amongst any Campaign. However I have noticed things that are more about the method in which something is made that's a bit difficult to explain.

Campaign 1 fans are okay with and may even enjoy media more if the fingerprints of it's making effect it, like where a real life constraint bends the story in an unexpected way. Campaign 2 fans appreciate media that tries to be complete to itself to tell a story, like making things fold back in more artfully as if they were planned.

Along those lines I've found the easiest way to actually recommend one Campaign over the other to people in my personal circle is ask them what special features they enjoy more (or what ones they miss most because they're so rarely done these days). If it's making of/behind the scenes, or director/writer commentary type stuff they tend to end up liking Campaign 1 more. If it's extend/special editions or cut/alternate scenes type stuff they tend to end up liking Campaign 2 more.

It's always interesting to see who prefers which one and why, but I really do think at the end of the day that Campaign 1 and Campaign 2 are equally good stories, it just heavily depends on personal preference. If you like a faster pace, deconstruction-to-reconstruction of archetypes, and classic fantasy vibes, you'll prefer C1; if you prefer a slower pace, high-concept character work, and political intrigue, you'll prefer C2. I'd be curious to see other commonly enjoyed media among fans who prefer one or the other.

Let me tell you, I've taken lots of vacations by myself, and I've also taken lots of vacations with other people, and by far vacationing solo is the easiest, most stress-free vacation you can imagine. There's some kind of societal stigma against this. Ignore this. Vacationing by yourself is amazing. There is zero negotiation or compromise. You do exactly what you want to do when you want to do it. You eat whatever you want to eat, whenever you want to eat it. You pursue whatever tourist attraction you want, or none at all. It is the purest release from all obligations and responsibilities. You don't need to worry about whether anyone else is walking faster than you or slower than you and you've lost them in a crowd, did they want to do something different, have you railroaded them into doing what you want to do?

And it's easier to buy solo tickets to things. It's easier to squeeze into crowded bars. Everything about it is just so incredibly relaxing. Don't let society talk you out of it. It's obviously good to socialize and have friends and family who you want to hang out with and see, etc., etc., and it's okay if traveling solo just doesn't appeal to you at all. I'm just saying, I was just on vacation with people, and I had a great time, but we were out to dinner at the hotel restaurant and at the table next to us was a woman by herself having a glass of wine and eating spinach and artichoke dip for dinner while she read a novel and I was just like, honestly, I know that kind of dinner and it's so great lol. If you've ever wondered what it's like to travel solo, it's like that: dip for dinner and a glass of wine and a book lol
