One thing that I'd like to mention. It's been really fun to feel excitement surrounding an ambitious project like Behind The Codes. I never expected it to become so popular, even though all I had to show were old concept art pieces, a few disorganized comic pages and some character designs. It still is something very important to me, because beyond its popularity, Behind The Codes helped me a lot with mental health. I was so glad when people enjoyed it as much as I did, I felt like it was becoming a new community altogether.

So, I have a suggestion! You there, artist (writer/digital artist/musician) that's currently reading this. If you ever find yourself starting a new project and wonder "should I really do this?" or "am I skilled enough for this?", it's absolutely fine to feel discouraged by the amount of work, time and effort you'll put into something. It's okay to take breaks from it, to be disappointed with results, to give up and let go of personal projects you desperately wanted to finish. Don't be so hard on yourself, just remember to have fun, and to do what you love. No one is pressuring you to do the most perfect piece of work in the world, except yourself. If you ever decide to show it to the world, don't be discouraged if it doesn't get as much attention at first.

You have all the time in the world to do the things you want, just keep going!

okaay if youve seen my recent posts youll know that we MIGHT be doing an actual remake of be more chill right here on tumblr dot com! run by me ofc but i might need help down the line so you can sign up for that. its gonna be a completely fan made thing like im talking singing voice acting drawing music editing everything

ive gotten quite a lot of positive reactions to that post so ive made a google form if youre interested in participating! options include major roles minor roles editors artists and more take your pick

if youre not the best at singing then you can sign up for ensemble, for example the bg voices in guy that id kinda be into. no worries at ALL if you cant sing or draw or anything, theres gonna be a speaking ensemble too, for example the overlapping shouting in the smartphone hour. you can pick more than one role, for example ensemble + visuals, cause this is not a very big fandom so we're gonna need duplicates but if you want a major character role i'd prefer if you just stick with that tbh. if you want a major character role you can also pick more than one character! you can specify you want to try for rich, the squip and brooke or whatever. youre not actually auditioning for those roles yet i just need to see if theres enough people to cover every role

EDIT YO GUYS im sorry i forgot but deadline is end of the month! don't worry about timezones, as long as it's april for you you can still sign up. How long is your roleplay experience? i don't know exactly how many years since i sometimes have years where h don't rp but i've been rping on and off since i was 11-12.

How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? oh gosh, so ff.net used to have (maybe still has, i literally have not been on that site in ages) these like... forums? and i joined one for elder scrolls rp a little after oblivion came out. i was far and away the youngest one there but everyone was so nice in helping me turn my character into a proper oc with like... backstory, a real personality, etc. after that, i spent a lot of time using it to try and grow my creative writing skills.

How were you introduced to TOA? honestly i just stumbled across it randomly! i had just replayed a few fe games and was looking through some tags and thought it might be fun to try fire emblem rp (i'd done some on indie tumblr back in the day, as well as in an mfrp a little bit, but never fire emblem exclusive rp) so i sent arden to check it out and, well, here we still are.

(If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) i'm kind of all over the place, aren't i? i like characters where i can poke at hidden depths but ones who aren't too closely guarded. i like characters who are shy, withdrawn, standoffish, guarded, etc. in some way but who open up when spoken to. i don't think this has changed since last year, i've been writing for a long time and kind of know my comfort zone.

Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing, but wish you could? boisterous/loud and over the top characters always challenge me, but i've never really managed to make them work, which is a shame because i tend to enjoy lively characters!

What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? (If you filled this out last year, has this changed in any way?) -i love writing threads where setting/scenery is a focus, where i get to sort of use the landscape as a bit more than set-dressing - i enjoy throwing my muse at characters who mistrust him for whatever reason, and like to explore the kind of slow, mutual understanding that comes from two people getting to know one another - i really just like putting him in situations in general, forcing him to socialize—he's a very withdrawn character so any excuse to have him meet new people is very enjoyable

Thank you so much! The honeymoon fic was difficult for me to write (because I don't often write angst), but it was also incredibly cathartic. I think it helped me process a lot of my own feelings about season 4 episodes 17 and 18, and also made me think deeper about Carlos in particular and his state of mind in these episodes.

ALTA is finished, but it is in beta-phase. I'm not sure when it will be ready but I'm hoping to post ch 1 soon(ish). This fic has been so fiddly and difficult, I don't think I've EVER spent so much time nitpicking. I've re-written and re-worked the chapters so many times it's insane. Never write a mystery, guys. Summer Break, June 2015

“Carlos,” TK sighs, sliding himself into the passenger seat of Carlos’ car, jiggling the ancient manual windows to wind them down, allowing fresh air in. Carlos knows he’s going to have to get a better car one day – he can’t keep driving around in something that has no AC in the middle of Texas – but he’s also a broke student and his father isn’t a movie star. Not that he’ll be reminding TK of that, lest he turn up to TK’s house one day and find himself presented with a brand new Range Rover.

Although, given recent events, he’s never going to be able to set foot in TK’s house again.

“Carlos,” TK repeats with a little huff, leaning back against the seat as Carlos backs out of Owen’s driveway. “Why are you so mad? It’s not like this is the first time this has happened—”

“TK,” Carlos exclaims, one hand tapping the steering wheel in exasperation. “Your dad walked in and we were—”

“My dad has walked in on us loads of times,” TK argues. “He has no sense of privacy, you know that.”

“Yes, but—”

“One time he caught me practically giving you a blowjob, remember?” TK interjects. “I think it was the first time you met him, actually—”

“TK!” Carlos practically cries. “How are you not more concerned about the fact that your dad walked in while you were riding me?”

TK shrugs. “I don’t know,” he replies, infuriatingly calm. “We’re adults and adults have sex, right? I don’t think anyone in the Strand household is under any illusions as to why the pool house was out of bounds for six months straight.”

Carlos has a sudden urge to take a random left hand turn and drive them into another state. He’s not sure he can bear to be in the same timezone as Owen Strand, knowing that he’s seen them in such a compromising position. On second thoughts, Carlos wishes he could drive to Antarctica.

“Seriously, baby,” TK says, holding his palm up on the centre console, begging for Carlos’ touch. “It’s going to be okay. I bet my dad won’t even say anything. I mean, he might make an awkward joke about it but trust me, he doesn’t care.”

Carlos blows out a breath. “I don’t know,” he replies with uncertainty. “I’m beginning to think we should move out.”

Out of his peripherals, he can see TK practically bounce in the passenger seat. “Some place other than your college dorm?” he asks. “Carlos, that would be—”

“I’m not serious,” Carlos interjects, then feels terrible about it when he looks across at TK’s face and sees it fall. “Wait, hang on, I didn’t mean—”

TK retracts his hand and brings it to his face, covering his mouth as he turns to look out of the passenger-side window. 

“TK,” Carlos calls, sighing as he pulls over to the kerb and throws the car into park. “TK, look at me.”

TK turns back slowly, a sad frown etched into his features. “I get it,” he says, a little despondently. “I mean, I’d be terrible to live with. I know you think I’m spoiled and I don’t know how to do anything, and I do hate chores but I’d do them if it meant I got to live with you.”

“I don’t think any of those things,” Carlos says softly, reaching across the space between them to rest his palm on TK’s leg. “Sweetheart, I’d love nothing more than to live with you—”

“I do hate chores,” TK admits. “Come on, that part is true.”

“Okay,” Carlos concedes, allowing his lips to curl into a smile as he watches TK’s do the same. “If we’re being honest, you suck at chores. But I’m sure you could get good at them, with practice.”

“Maybe,” TK says, wrinkling his nose. “I hear you’re a pretty good teacher.”

“I am,” Carlos replies seriously, leaning halfway across the console to kiss the tip of TK’s nose and then his lips. “I want to live with you, TK,” he says. “I just can’t afford that right now. Plus, we’re young. Maybe it’s a good idea to wait until we finish college at least.”

“And give my dad more opportunities to walk in on us?” TK asks, arching an eyebrow. “Your funeral, Reyes.”

Carlos shrugs, trying to school his expression. “Oh no, that’s not happening,” he says smoothly. “We just can’t have sex at your place anymore.”

“What are you suggesting?” TK scoffs. “That we have sex in your dorm room? Because Darren is gonna have to get real cool with some stuff pretty quickly…”

Carlos shakes his head. “I was thinking more like abstinence.”

TK chokes. “Abst— No, Carlos. Abstinence does not work when your boyfriend looks like this.” He flourishes his hands in Carlos’ direction, motioning to the entire top half of his body.

“Was thinking we could wait until marriage,” Carlos teases, turning the ignition back on as TK squawks. 

“Okay,” he says, “I guess we’re getting married tomorrow.”

“Not legal yet,” Carlos points out. “Guess we’ll have to wait a while.”

I just. think you're basing way too much of your self worth off of social media numbers. Idk.. You likely already know this.. It's messing you up. It's worrying to see. I don't even know you more personally than occadionally seeing your posts on my dash.

People just naturally prefer canon characters over people's OCs to the point that it's become a meme. You're not "uniquely awful". People 'responding' more to your Rivulet art doesn't make it inherently better than all your other art. These are all reassurances. I don't doubt your friends already say all this in more familiar words.

I don't think it helps much on it's own, yk? Mental illness has a habit of completely ignoring logic in favor of feelings. There's only so much one can do to combat it with reassurances? You may need a break. You need a change in mindset. Your queue doesn't have to be filled to the brim 24/7 if it causes you anxiety. Your art doesn't have to exist solely for everyone to praise it. The way mental illness saps your energy can isolate you, and it doesn't mean your friends don't *want* to include you in activities, just that people eventually start assuming you'll say no. You're going to burn out if you continue this way :(

I understand what you are saying and how you are trying to help me. But you are getting some things wrong. and that is understandable, I try not to say much. I have a bad habit of bottling stuff up until I break.

I don't really care about social media numbers much, I just wanna be remembered. and seeing people talk about how much they love the designs or artworks of other artists while just liking or silently reblogging with no comment on my stuff is really demotivating. I just need a "this is really cool!" sometimes

I know people don't care much about ocs. the thing is 90% of my art is canon characters, it's just that riv is the favourite. I can do a 5 second doodle of riv and get 100 notes in an hour all screaming they love it, but a more fun and well done artwork of nightcat gets maybe 60 in a week, no words said about anything. my art of gourm or inv or anybody else also gets ignored unless riv is right next to them.

I know that I am not uniquely awful. I know that very well. I help all my friends with their issues too. a lot of them have it a lot worse. I have a good life, I know that.

Also I don't mind that my friends don't invite me to things. I can't join a lot of the times because of timezones. but they aren't even talking to each other or our group anymore. I feel abandoned by them after helping them, I wouldn't be suprised if there is a whole new server that excludes me. They did it before.

They interact with each other on tumblr and do silly jokes I can't understand. and they comment and reblog each others art but not mine. I just feel like an npc of a friend they only talk to when feeling bad. and then they go to each other for the fun times. I just want a text convo sometimes or something

I rewatched the first three episodes (while I wait to watch the new ones with @lovepurposed when we manage to find a time because timezones) and while I don't have the spoons to write full on posts (I feel kinda bad about... I don't know, I just don't have the spoons to fully be a fandom member these days, due to being disabled; like, I have profound love for this show and these muses and I have so many thoughts but arranging them into proper verbalised form is just hard, and I put my writing spoons into replies over headcanon posts usually when feeling like this, but it does feel like I'm missing out on a lot by not being the most active when episodes are on air and all, like I'm missing on the hype), I figured why not do some bullet points anyway, about some stuff that relates to my muses:

I'm not going to shy away from Ed's violence when writing his kraken era. Not that I was before, but canon went to a really dark direction with it, and I'm fine with portraying that. Includes both his abuse towards his crew, and his suicidal ideation. I'm sure he will come out of it (probably with Stede's help in canon? but can be anything in roleplay prose, like obviously I'm unopposed to having it be thanks to Izzy or whoever, depending on whatever we play with), but between seasons & first three episodes of second season era Ed is violent, abusive, self-destructive, erratic and extra unstable. And I love him.

Ed tells coma-hallucination!Hornigold he's never told about killing his abusive dad to anyone except Stede. At first I figured Izzy would also know about it (especially since I headcanon the two have been together for a lot longer than Blackbeard era; Izzy having been on Hornigold's crew and such, before), but actually, no, he's never told Izzy; Izzy doesn't know. I do believe Izzy and Ed know each other better than anyone else, including Stede, but that piece of information - Izzy doesn't know it. Ed's never told him. That's not the kind of vulnerability either of them have ever had with each other. (I ship Izzy/Ed and Stede/Ed and Izzy/Stede, but Izzy/Ed/Stede throuple is superior to all of the above, and I think the three complete each other with all individuals bringing something valuable to the mix and all three having potential for becoming more wholesome with each other than with just one of them/alone.)

Lucius is traumatised as fuck, as obviously narrated in canon. I don't??? Have many thoughts on him, as of now.

"I have... love for you" Izzy admitting this and the way he says it... Jesus fucking Izzy, his self-hatred is as strong as Ed's, but manifesting in different ways. He's so fucking ashamed of loving Ed, not because he thinks there's anything wrong with it, but because he believes he's inherently disgusting and that being the subject of his love would be therefore awful for Ed. It has nothing to do with internalised homophobia and everything to do with Izzy seeing himself as inherently repulsive. "I have love for you", not "I love you". It's painful for him to admit because it's full of shame. He never, ever expects his affection, love, whatever, towards anybody to be reciprocated.

And he actively keeps falling back to trying to make people hate him, even as he's obviously redeemed himself with the crew between seasons. Claiming he slashed up the painting when Stede asks has nothing to do with covering for Ed or protecting Stede's feelings and everything to do with Izzy wanting to be hated because being hated is safer and more familiar than wanting to be loved and liked but being rejected. Sorry, mate, I see through your bullshit. <3

Most of my other thoughts are about characters I don't write so while there are so many things I fucking adore, I don't have, like I said, the spoons to really talk about them. Jim is hot as fuck. Because I trust you to give it to me straight- what is your opinion on time zone reblogging? It is driving me NUTS. I see the same posts on my dash over and over with the tzr or whatever tag and I can't tell what the heck timezone they're doing it for because it's so random. Also...no one likes your content so much they need to see it half a dozen times a day so someone in another time zone might see it. And THEN if I want to scroll someone's blog, I see the same posts over and over because their mobile dash is their same posts reblogged continuously. I just don't understand the phenomenon. To me it's narcissistic, like you're so desperate for notes and validation youre forcing everyone to see your posts again and again. Yes I could block the tag but it doesn't just make the posts disappear, it hides them with a viewing disclaimer which is also annoying. I personally wish it wasn't such a trend in this community. I unfollow people over it at this point.

Oh I get you nonny. I actually do it myself but usually it's either once per day or once the next day after I post the original post. I do think it helps ppl see your post, especially if you post it at a bad time initially (like during school/work hours or on a holiday for example, when a lot of ppl aren't really on tumblr). I don't actually do it for an actual timezone I just do it randomly whenever I remember lol. But generally around 12 hours or so since it was first posted? Oh and if it's a cc post sometimes tzr helps cc finds blogs see it cos sometimes the tagging doesn't work i find. That's the most practical reason I've found for it. But I generally think one time a day is plenty enough to get the post out there for your mutuals that haven't seen it yet.

However I also don't really get the point of doing it 5-6 times a day, or setting it up for like, every four hours to be reblogged. It spams the dash and ppl's blogs the way you described. And I have unfollowed ppl too that do it like constantly. Idk if I'd go so far as to call it narcissistic but I do find it funny when it's like a non cc post with like 300+ notes and like four to six hours later the person tzr it, especially if they do it over and over? I don't blame them for it but I kinda encourage ppl not to get into that mindset bc it doesn't seem very fun ya know? It seems stressful in a way. I don't find that kind of behavior narcissistic no, more like it's showing the person's stress or worry that they won't get "enough" notes. Which i don't see as a negative towards them as a person as much as kinda the toxic environment we're all in that makes you feel unworthy or a flop if you don't get notes. It's hard but I think excessive timezone reblogging just winds up doing the opposite for you though as people will wind up getting annoyed and unfollowing. So for general simblr advice I'd say, 1 tzr a day is plenty enough, if that lol. Anything past that is just gonna see diminishing returns and annoyed followers. How do you get so much engagement? Not in a jealous sort of way, but more in a curious way of someone who seeks tips/advice on the matter. It seems these days fandom is much more…distant than it once was and it’s a bit discouraging, you know? I can barely get any sort of engagement, either on my socials or my ao3, but to know you have such a devoted fan base (such as me!) it fills me with hope that it’s possible :)

As for engagement, I don't know if I have much wisdom to give there. Spn fandom is definitely getting smaller, has been for years. Even when I got into it ten years ago, it was already past its prime.

Gonna share what little knowledge I have under the cut.

So I am not the right person to ask about socials lol. I have very little engagement on tumblr actually. I know it doesn't look like it right now, but usually I go months without getting asks. And then I guess sometimes whenever I get one, other people see it and remember they can send me asks? And then I just get a bunch, of which I suspect several are from the same people 😅, and then things go quiet again. Usually, most of them are related to the underneath verse, which makes sense since it's an ongoing WIP, and people have questions (that I am very happy to answer, always! Even tho I can't give anything about the ending away 😅). I used to post fic links here, but I got so little engagement I eventually gave up on that. It didn't seem worth the effort of formatting the posts, but I also have no way of knowing how many people just check ao3 and how many click on a link on tumblr.

Twitter is a little different, but it's also gotten more quiet there. The end of the show didn't help and then recent events *cough*prequelgate*cough* accelerated the decline of J2 fandom especially. But I get some interaction with fic posting there, more than on tumblr anyway, so that's where I post new fics. I think it's helpful to screenshot the summary and attach it to the post for more info. Maybe? I've never done a survey on this lol. Definitely don't be shy about retweeting and reposting for timezone purposes and on different days. Some people follow so many accounts they won't see your post otherwise.

As for fic engagement, idk. A good snappy summary, enough tags for people to get interested but no overtagging? But like, I'm a bad standard here, I think. I've been in fandom for over 10 years, I've written almost 200 fics in all kinds of genres, so people know me. I've also participated in gift exchanges, challenges and auction fics, which is also something that gives you exposure. And I was lucky that one of my first big fics was popular. So I guess a reasonable amount of people know me as a J2 author.

Also supporting my theory of being known is that I recently posted a fic in a much more active fandom and I immediately had like four times the engagement I'd usually get for J2 fics, but still much less than the popular fics in that fandom.

And not all of my spn rpf fics get a lot of engagement either. It always depends on subject matter, pairings, trends in fandom etc. If you look at my fic list, you'll see a lot of fics with few kudos for a variety of reasons.

I still write them, even if I know not a lot of people are interested in them, but I still enjoy writing them. And I always think, if there's only one person whom I brought joy with my writing, it's worth it. But I definitely understand that more feedback is also more joy and good for our egos. And I know there are people out there who don't care about that, which is valid, but I think it's also okay to care about it.

Saturn is the planet of responsibility, punishment and rewards. Saturn is very traditional and Saturn also serves Karma. This eclipse is on a Saturday. Lunar eclipse.

I don't recommend people spending unnecessary energy on eclipses and I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND GETTING MARRIED DURING AN ECLIPSE.

Idk, it's also sounding like loved ones will die and want you to remember the good things about them especially on that day. But since the exact day isn't clear, it may have to be a whole week of veneration and celebrating their life.

Then after I posted that I sat down to watch cartoons. It was 10pm when I wanted to switch off the TV and sleep and the episode read "The dead Magpie"(Pettson and Findus Season 4 Episode 4). Hmm. Very Scorpio season coded I thought. So I sat there to watch and the Magpie is called Nosey Parker. The Magpie is a she.

Magpies are known to steal. Dead Magpies represent endings and theft. This weekend is a full moon as well and full moons represent endings. The theft part might be if you don't take care so be careful! It might also mean feeling like a theft has happened in your life because someone has passed away.

There's a part in the episode where the chicken say,

"the crows up there are black, we are snow white. But the magpie had black and white. That means we must be related(or the same-something like that)."

The message there is that someone's grandmother (it's a grandmother's spirit coming out strongly) is saying that even though she's gone she is in you so you shouldn't feel all that heaviness.

When I posted this on Instagram I felt a very heavy Energy make me post it and I just felt like it was a grandmother. Then when I saw this episode in Pettson and Findus, I knew that's exactly what. I've attached relevant screenshots from the Instagram post so have a look.

Hi hello from here as well. I would like to talk in depth about this chapter from my personal account. But before that, I would like for everyone to give a digital hug to @karereiko. Basically, when this chapter released I was in the middle of exams and then I literally went to study abroad just when they finished. This gave me little time to do the redraws. Kare decided to do all of them for this chapter and I'm very grateful to her. The redraws weren't easy at all. Please support her. I would also like to congratulate the rest of the team! You pulled this off, I'm so incredibly proud of you! There was so much text and it certainly didn't help that in some parts it kept repeating itself. Despite our busy schedules and timezones hell we made it. I cannot be happier to be a member of this team. They are some of the kindest and funniest people I know (and the most chaotic of course).

Now I will be talking about chapter 16. I advise you to read that chapter, before reading what I have to say about it

This chapter has a special place in my heart. Even though I'm not the HUGEST fan of this arc, this chapter in my opinion is the best from all the chapters of this spin-off. Before we released it, we checked it to see if there are any mistakes. I was one of the people that checked it. It was my first time reading it, seeing all the details etc. By the end of my reading, I noticed that I had tears in my eyes. Now this might sound a bit dramatic to you, and you might not necessarily feel the same after reading this chapter, it really depends on the person, but I was truly moved. I started feeling emotional at the father-daughter reunion. Images were stronger and louder than words. We have the father who is clenching his fist upon seeing his daughter. He has a resolution. He is determined not to give away his identity, even though a piece of it had slipped after he said his daughter's name out loud. The more he listens to his daughter, the more his resolution crumbles, as his fist is now trembling. It's a dilema. Does he embrace his daughter or does he just move on? After all, the whole reason he's doing this is to protect her. In the end though, he can't do it. Even if it's just for a moment, even though he believes this can't be his reality for much longer, he decides to go for it and embraces his daughter. Even though he is covered in bandages, you can see his facial expression. He is happy, he is relieved that his daughter is doing well and you can tell that he has missed her a lot, even without the words "I've missed you".

Later on we see William smiling, as his actions have brought a family back together and it's a bit funny but wholesome that he notices that Albert has noticed his smile. Also I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe that this, chronologically, is close to the final problem (it surely hasn't been set to motion), so it's a rare sight to see William genuinely smile at that point.

The next thing I want to include is Albert's reaction reading that diary. It's so funny to me. So many braincells were lost XD

I love how Louis reaffirms William's existence. And it feels like a full cycle. In the past William was the one that reaffirmed Louis of his existence, but now it's Louis that does it. It matters that the photo has been cut in a way that William's face cannot be seen.

Finally just as Kare said, in the final panel, William realizes that he has done some good for this world as well. When I saw the panel, where the Burton family have a child, I was incredibly moved. I don't know, but it just hit differently.

As much as I would like to talk even more about it, I'm with 1 hour of sleep and so my brain has reached its limit XD

diluc ragnvindr has rarely been close enough to anyone to celebrate their birthday, nor does he feel the need to. he pretends he doesn't remember the birthday parties crepus and him threw for kaeya when they were young, and the parties he had for his birthdays too - isn't he too old for that now? he doesn't feel so inclined to sit awkwardly with a party hat on his head while he waits for everyone to finish singing happy birthday. but with you, things are different. he desperately wants to commemorate your special day, the day you were brought into this world, the day that's the sole reason he's able to date you now. unfortunately, he has zero clue how to.

originally, he considered asking the knights for their opinion, but when he thought of how kaeya would tease him, the proud smile jean would wear as she realised that he was asking for help from the knights of all people, the way eula would take this as just another reason to exact vengeance, how klee didn't even like him, and how albedo probably had no idea too, diluc changed his mind very quickly. hence, he sought assistance from none other than the workers in his house. hillie and moco were unhelpful, merely starstruck at the chance of speaking to their boss face to face, while connor suggested making you a special brew, which diluc rejected. thankfully, adelinde and elzer managed to save the day. adelinde whipped up a delicious birthday cake that was your favourite flavour, with elaborate edible decorations and a 'happy birthday!' illustrated on it with icing. elzer, with his eye for detail and skill at handling important affairs, plotted out your schedule and found the perfect time for diluc to surprise you - right after you wake up the next morning.

to say diluc is terrified would be an understatement. he's been in so many battles, defeated hundreds of fatui members, yet here he is; quaking in his boots at the thought of you disliking his surprise. but then he thinks to himself that he's got to thank you somehow for everything you've done for him. the way a smile from you brightens up his entire day, how your warm hugs never fail to cheer him up, your reassurance and light scolding whenever he overworks, the infinite wonderful memories the two of you have made together that he keeps hidden like precious treasures in his heart - he's so lucky to have you, and diluc is planning to show you just how grateful he is today.

from outside the door of your shared bedroom (no, he still can't get over the fact that you live with him! and sleep in the same bed!), diluc lights the candle on the cake in his arms. he can hear the sounds of you faintly stirring, and his cheeks redden slightly with excitement and anticipation as he thinks about how he's going to gift you with a kiss too, aside from the present waiting for you downstairs; it's something you've mentioned wanting for ages, and diluc recalled you saying that and purchased it. the candle flame flickers gently, and diluc smiles at no one in particular, imagining your joyous expression when you see it. it may not be his birthday, but as he looks up from the dancing flame and enters the bedroom, diluc makes a silent wish.

The Actor? Wilford gave a light shrug as he propped his elbow on the left arm of his chair. It was the dead of night (or was it after dawn? Timezones are weird). Perfect time to talk about this without anyone else hearing.

"Better ya asked me this now than a few weeks ago. Th' answer would've been waaay different. I didn't remember him, or maybe I chose ta forget. Not too sure which. Can't trust th' ol' noggin with things like 'memories'. Speakin' of, memories are comin' back, but they're a little... Fuzzy? There's a lot I don't know, an' maybe ya oughta ask him 'bout. They're like movey photos fer me. Moments here an' there, if ya get me.

What I do remember is that I was so sure he was always there. Thick as thieves, an' what have ya. But things went a little sour, like that milky tea ya left out in th' sun. He became so - so..." A hand was waved like he was trying to gesture to word to come back to him. "Ah! Selfish. That's th' word I wanted. He did go 'round an' help people, of course, but there was this, uh, feelin' that he was doin' it more fer himself an' ta show off how great he was now that he was rich an' famous. Once he got a taste of that success, he was like a bloodhound huntin' a rabbit. Pretty sure I used that phrase before. Sounds smart. Then things went bad. Real bad. Can't quite remember why, but shit hit th' fan. After that... It's just anger an' some other bitter feelin'. Must've slipped through th' cracks. I know when I - as in th' me ya see before ya - first learned 'bout him, I felt anger. I didn't know why, since I didn't know th' guy, but somethin' 'bout his face just pissed me off."

There was a pause as Wilford rested his chin on the hand that was supported by the chair's arm. He wasn't sure if this was even answering the question properly. Talking about the past life when you didn't fully remember it was hard.

"He's been through a lot," he was choosing his words very carefully, "Or at least, that what it feels like. He's got these sorta chains wrapped 'round him, pullin' him back. Guilt, probably. It's too heavy fer somethin' like grief. Despite that, he's tryin' ta have a better start. He's got a kid. He always wanted a family, y'know? Someone that was related by blood, an' not a brother 'cause someone else decided you two were now brothers. But he was always a Barnum. I think he lost sight of that along th' way. Ta me, there was no difference. Mark was Mark, an' I was whoever I was at th' time. But we're not th' same people. I think he still hates me. Not that I'd blame him. Not th' first time I've heard my past life was a bit of an asshole. Sayin' that, I'm not a man who lives in th' past. I'm all 'bout th' here an' now. I wanna get ta know him again. Not sure if he let me be a brother again, but I'd be happy ta just be friends if that's what he'd want."
