Round 2 Match 3: Patches Ito VS. Wambus Troubleham

Patches, a tall, polite, well-mannered, charming, canonically pansexual dalmatian furry. Except a lot of that is a front to hide the viscous, spiteful, vengeful, smug murderer underneath that is willing to manipulate and (sometimes literally) backstab basically anyone, and describe his murder plans in gruesome detail. Eventually is revealed to have a backstory of heartbreak and even gets a heel turn and redemption arc by the end. That or you can have him kill everyone. Either one.

Wambus Troubleham, a simple, hardworking farmer with a strong sense of responsibility, who’s stubborn and short tempered. Usually pretty tough and likely to stick to his guns. Has a smooth, deep, cowboy-esc voice. However, he’s also oddly pathetic at times. His main plot involves constantly attempting and failing to figure out how to grow more of the creatures known as bugsnax, quickly gets desperate and frustrated as time goes on. He also has marital problems, his wife leaving after a rough patch between them. He ends up missing her so much he makes a cactus facsimile of her.

basically, tumblr has "tumblr sexymen" (ex. the oncelor and bill cypher) whose qualities usually revolve around unconventional attractiveness, patheticness, and lack of morality. its not necessarily just sex appeal.

the official definition im using for the comp is "An often pathetic and/or evil man who is sexy (but perhaps not in the conventional sense)"

the actual competition is a bracket to figure out which of the men in kotlc fits the def the best. they'll be eliminated each round until theres a winner.

before the comp starts, people sign up to draw portraits of each of them to be used in the polls and they can submit propaganda to be added to the polls and support the men they want to win.

overall, its a really fun time! this is my 3rd year doing it!! the past 2 years, fintan has won (with brant a close 2nd) so im hoping it gets mixed up a bit this time!!

What is a simblr?

A Sims Tumblr. We blog about sims. You don't need to have a blog dedicated to sims in order to enter or participate. If you just like voting on things, you don't even need to know what a sim is! All are welcome to vote as they please.

What is a blorbo?

In our use case, a blorbo is a sim you really like that is either your original creation, an EA/Maxis premade, your makeover of an EA/Maxis premade, or a sim born in-game from some combination of the above categories.

You may not submit other people's creations.

What is a sexyman?

A sexyman can be any gender under the sun. They should, ideally, be sexy. But you can use your own best judgement if, for example, the competitors are not a gender you think of as sexy, or if you don't think of any sims as sexy at all. In that case, you may modify your definition of sexyman to be the one that is the most fashionable, or has the best vibe, etc.

Bracket??

This is a tournament-style competition (for fun!)

There will be multiple rounds, in each round two competitors will fight for votes in a tumblr poll lasting 1 week. The winners of each poll will move on to the next round, fighting another foe in the same sort of battle.

Depending on the number of entries the tourney may be short or quite long. If the number is on the lower side, there may be a loser's bracket, wherein the losers of each poll will have a chance to redeem themselves, and fight their way back to a chance at the crown.

This is NOT a popularity contest.

While no one can control how you vote except you, you are encouraged not to just vote for the simmer you like more or to only vote for your friends. Instead, try to vote with your heart. Maybe you'll discover a new favorite?

This has been really cool and I think you should all be super proud of yourselves for putting this together with so few hiccups.

2. First time meeting their best friend

Theo's first time meeting Phy happens when she's 11. around this time her father is doing a lot of totally legitimate business in Northern Valenwood. Theo begs him to take her along because she's bored of always staying in Anvil, save for the few trips she has made around Cyrodiil. She wants to get out of the province, go somewhere different! So he brings her along and while stopping to purchase new armour and materials from a bosmer leatherwork he's bought from a lot, he introduces her to this woman and her daughter. Ricardo was a very proud father so this woman already knew a bit about Theo. Turns out her daughter is the same age and while they talk shop, the girls get to know each other. Theo's first impression of Phy is that she's cool, she lives in the woods with her mom, she knows all the plants, the best hiding spots, etc. Phy asks about where her mother is and she's like "I don't have a mother" and Phy's like "I don't have a father." That's it, they are besties bound together by missing a parent. Now that Theo has a friend here, she gets to come back with her father a lot <3

X. First major hardship they got through together

This is a tough one because the whole relationship is not premitted so they have that hanging over them as their feelings start to develop. But as a consequence of that, the Rulindil situation happens. Which I have written about here. It starts off with them thinking its under control but then things spiral. Theodora goes through a traumatic experience but at least Ondolemar is there to help her as much as he can. Need to write the third part and how their relationship changes.

🔥 - First time writing romance/spicy scenes, and how you felt about it

My first fic was a smut fic actually! I had been wanting to write fanfic and then the Skyrim Tumblr Sexyman Poll happened and people were shipping Teldryn/Serana and someone had put out asking for someone to write a fic. So I thought Hey! Just go for it! What's the worst that can happen!

I wrote it in public, at a library on campus. I struggled as you'd expect but oddly enough, my background in linguistics helped me. I started to look at it as just data, it's just words and throughout my grad studies I have seen all kinds of language. I particularly used to work on stories and they were not all appropriate haha. So I just did it and since then it's been easier! I really like using smut as a way to explore different themes and it's also one of my favourite things to read for this reason also im a degenerate but y'all knew that

Here are some interesting observations I have made regarding both Fnaf and Danganronpa that relate to each other. It may just be confirmation bias, but its still fun to point these out:

Killer robot bears

In DR 1 monokuma says "you look like you've seen a ghost. A robot bear... ghost?" Which is something that fnaf revolves around. And I don't just mean robot bears possessed by ghosts, we have ghosts that take the form of robot bears too. Specifically this happens during the scene when Monokuma explains to Makoto that his bathroom door doesn't fit the frame.

Both use the same stock clock chime sound effect, which is iconic to players of both games.

Both have an in joke in the community regarding butter because of an iconic, absurd moment involving the substance (Exotic Butters, and Mondo butter)

Both have a lot of dark humor, bizzare moments, fourth wall breaking, odd spin offs, weird anime moments, and tones that can range from light and goofy to dark and depressing. As a result of this clash in tone, both have become incredibly bizzare.

Both have crazy sci-fi elements that come out of nowhere.

The main two animals in both are a bear and a rabbit, in that order of significance.

One April fools day, r/fnaf and r/danganronpa collabed, with each temporarily becoming a sub dedicated to the other. Some people still have flairs from the other series on those subreddits.

As r/deathbattlematchups can attest, there are a lot of odd similarities between William Afton and Junko Enoshima, enough that the entire community there became split about the match up, and it has become an iconic match up there "a legacy battle" even, just like Mario vs sonic or goku vs superman. A short version of these connections will (maybe) be listed in a separate post. And yes the match up was supposedly acknowledged by the people behind death battle as "something they will consider". They are definitely aware of the match up.

Both had sequels that made their own series exist in universe.

Both have fanbases that are generally regarded negatively. Though as a fan of both, I do not necessarily agree or disagree with this assessment.

Both came out in the first half of the 2010's

Both have a well known Tumblr Sexyman (William Afton and Nagito Komaeda), enough so to both appear on the infamous Tumblr Sexyman poll. Afton only made it through the first round (though his opponent was Spamton and this was in 2022) and Nagito only made it to the second round. Both series also have a secondary Tumblr Sexyman in Michael Afton and Kokichi Ouma. Neither of which were on the poll but are still highly noteworthy, and both purple (Michael has purple skin, Kokichi has purple hair and eyes)

Each has a bazillion variants to their respective robot bears.

Both feature security cameras in almost every room as well as featuring monitors.

Simulated realities and artificial humans are common plot points.

Both have characters with a split personality where one side is homicidal and insane.

Toy bears with a video feed inside, that can be spoken through remotely by the primary villain who does so from a secret room within the main facility. Where have I heard that one before?

Faz-Coins (or Faz-Tokens, its gone by both names) and Mono-Coins. Both are even gold coins hidden around the environment with the mascots face emblazoned on them.

Funtime Freddy and Monokuma are both two colored (one of the colors is white, and in the fourth closet funtime Freddy is black and white just like Monokuma) killer robot bears who are super high tech and have higher pitched voices. Monokuma has an over the top and deranged sense of humor and in one of the books we see the same as true in a version of Funtime Freddy.

Both Spike Chunsoft and Steel Wool Studios are both really only known for each respective title.

Both have a thing where in their communities, fan made games often with the same or better quality to the original product are commonplace.

Danganronpa hit an all time high on Google trends in 2021 in the U.S and around the same time Fnaf was the highest it had been since 2017 during its long and steep decline from its initial explosion in 2014. These events can be attributed to new releases made by both in 2021. With ultimate summer camp S being released in November, but getting its world wide release in December, and Fnaf Security breach also in December. In their home countries each also had a massive spike relative to their own position in 2023, with DR in January and Fnaf in October.

The fnaf movie plays out more like a detective thriller than horror movie, and Danganronpa is a series of murder mysteries. The initial trilogy of fnaf novels and the first Danganronpa light novel both also have this, and feature female protagonists who have a lot to do with what's going in, but aren't aware of it, have memory issues, and turn out to not be who they believe themselves to be.

Danganronpa has a tendency to take away characters memories, and Fnaf has a tendency to give characters looks into other people's memories or let memories linger in objects or places.

In both series, Agony and Despair respectively are both forces that can affect the mind, and spread like an infection. Its a bit more literally tangible in FNaF but DR focuses on it more so it balances out. This is the basis for one of the many aforementioned Afton and Enoshima connections: both are obsessed with the respective substance and its effects and view it as the strongest emotion (the fourth closet shows that Agony is the source of Aftons immortality, and other sources also support that most remnant that powers animatronics and haunted objects is very specifically Agony based. They are not completely separate.)

Back to back (or at least, with nothing in between the two on their community page), popular YouTube channel Dead Meat announced they were doing a Danganronpa kill count, then they streamed the first fnaf game, likely in preparation for the movie. I even made a post about it back on obsessedwithecho, which I reposted here.

There are at least two, very high quality rap battles on YouTube that are "Monokuma vs Freddy Fazbear". Its rare to see two of the same match up unless the two characters often get compared. But they don't. And yet there's still two of them.

One of the most popular fnaf fan game series "Dayshift at Freddys" is a visual novel, just like Danganronpa is. (There's also a lot of other, older fnaf visual novel fangames, but those aren't as popular and were mostly dating sims and stuff)

In both series deaths that are highly bizzare, brutal, or both, are highly common. Here's a mixed list of examples from both, all from official materials, though excluding fnaf fanverse stuff. Unless you know at least one of these series well enough, it might be hard to distinguish which comes from which. Having your innards scooped out, turning into butter, turning into a kids at play sign, turning into a candy statue, being spahettified by a black hole and woven into undergarments, being crushed to death in a mascot costume while drowning in your own blood and being impaled from all angles, pummeled to death by rapid fire baseballs at machine gun levels of speed, burning alive, being hit by a truck, being burned alive then hit by a truck, stabbed to death with scissors and crucified, male pregnancy, being seasoned and then dipped in a volcano, being converted into a mass of genetically modified sea-monkeys, cancer, suicide by poison, being crushed to death underneath the floor of a ticket jumping machine, killed in the crossfire of a fight between two giant robot mascots, crushed by a trash compactor, round trip from earth to space, suicide by robot made solely to assist in said suicide, death by sharks, face eaten by a cupcake, brainwashed by a digital consciousness, stabbed from under a floorboard, face cut off by a guillotine paper slicer, forced to wear a mask with running buszzsaws inside,

There is a reference to the dish known as "eggs benedict" in both games. Though in one its a memorable joke and on the other its a throwaway remark. Here's the DR2 transcript for proof:

Both have a bunch of comparisons to the Saw franchise as well, but not as overly specific and bizzare as these examples.

so the ORs are going to be qualifier rounds. i figure these characters fit the same niche so it’s very unlikely that someone would vote for one of them in a round and not vote the other so there’s no need to have both- clears up the standings.

this isn’t a 1 vs 32 set up i just ordered them by their contestants. bc i thought a lot about the match ups. trying to figure out a way to avoid sweeps while also making sure minimal heavy hitters are out first round. unless there’s a big upset. which is interesting enough in its own right!

originally i wanted to have grif v simmons bc funny to pit boyfs against each other but i didn’t want wash v york in the first round and i couldn’t think of anyone else to face either of them.

same with tex. tex and wash are such heavy hitters putting them against anyone early on seems unfair. but i don’t want either of them out first round either. but having tex beat church is funnee so it’s okay if she thrashes him

and then simmons and wash are. like simmons doesn’t have much of a chance but they both hit the “ppl who like unhinged men with knives (non villain edition)” demographic so i think they’re fine first round. not ideal but. i don’t know who would be better

these will probably get us: wash v south - recovery agent rematch! OR wash v connie - pfl underdog fight

simmons. i cannot foresee simmons winning. but if he does then pairing him against woman. hilarious

from there it will PROBABLY be either york or north v wash and that’s white men tumblr girlies lose their minds over… 2. think it will be york v wash but good match up either way

at this point it’s hard to really predict but all options seem at least semi interesting for the semi finals. and i would bet they’ll be wash v tex which is. battle of the two heaviest hitters imo. absolute blood bath.

this is kind of a weak section. doc v grey would be a fun match up for battle of the doctors but i’m pretty impartial to who’s taking this section. if anyone has ideas for better match ups here let me know

sarge v locus - this one’s the weakest reasoning for a first round match up honestly. they’re both muscular?? yeah i got nothing. this section needs some serious work so PLEASE give suggestions if you have them. right now my plans for 27 and 28 are to run qualifier rounds but i need to know what people those rounds should be

felix v audience choice - i couldn’t decide who i wanted to pit against felix and i wanted one option for people to submit a character i hadn’t thought would fit SO i let everyone else pick who versus felix. note that i’m not taking ideas for this one right now, there will be a post once the official rankings are released and whoever gets the most requests will be put in. i want advice for everything else here but i get final say for all other rankings— this one i will put any character regardless of my thoughts on the matter if they have enough votes

this is harder to judge next matchup bc we don’t know who’s there but i think felix will beat whoever so: temple v felix - will you stop monologuing? OR sharkface v felix - s13 villain fight

next matchup i PRAY would be felix v locus. we need this. locus kick his ass baby.

anyway predicting the final match ups isn’t whats important here whats important is making sure they’re all interesting and no matter who’s in the finals it’s gonna be interesting.

right now like i said before i really need advice on the 25-28 seed section. i wouldn’t mind advice on the 17-24 or really any of the sections tho. you can see i have thought. a LOT about making the most compelling match ups but if you think you have better idea please share.

QUALIFIERS FIRST ROUND RESULTS SUMMARY

Thank you all for voting in the first round of the qualifiers! Here are the results so far.

Alpha, Beta, Maine and O’malley all beat their counterparts. For the most part you all seemed to prefer the originals, but O’malley blasted Omega out of the water with 65 (80.2%) of the 81 votes. He got the most votes out of any option in all the qualifier polls! Let’s see if his favor continues into the bracket proper!

Ohio, Idaho, and Iowa were all considered a package deal as 47 (56.6%) of you voted Do Not Separate Them. Looks like The Triplets will be making it into the tourney together! Out of the three of them, though, Ohio got the most votes, with 24 (28.9%) of the 83 votes. Tumblr loves its lesbians!

It seems like Sarge was not speaking for all us when he asked Kalirama to marry him; though with 15 votes (21.4%) she did get the highest in her bracket, with 70 votes, the Cosmic Powers bracket was the least popular, and the only one to be voted completely out of the bracket, at 19 votes (27.1%).

The only one to be definitely voted into the bracket, though, is Delta, with 24 (31.6%) of the 76 votes. The competition for the AI was fierce, though, as only 4 (5.3%) people voted for them to removed from the bracket entirely.

The Chorusians race was by far the tightest. Bitters (19 votes. 22.1%), Volleyball (13 votes, 15.1%), and Smith (11 votes, 12.8%) all hit within ten percent of each other. Since I don’t feel comfortable declaring a strong winner out of that, Biff will be joining them in a 4 person mini bracket to determine who will make it to the real competition.

With 22 (31%) of the 71 votes on the Blues and Reds, you’d think Biff would be a shoe in, but 22 people also voted for the Blues and Reds to be disqualified from the bracket. That is the most people have voted for a group to removed from the bracket. It’s also the only tie out of all the qualifier rounds! As said, Biff will be facing off against the other unsure winners to determine, once and for all, if this character who died before the show even started can truly be considered a sexyman of RvB.

The special technique didn't so much damage, but that was on a ghost, and I'm not sure if there will be any ghosts here, and his punch has proved somewhat effective in the series. Maybe he'll somehow get the participants of this poll in a con or something. Maybe the charm that got him the title of the #2 Tumblr Sexyman and made him sweep so many polls will be enough for him to win. Maybe his patheticness will loop around and make him win somehow. He has options”

“Reigen is an "exorcist" who pretends to have psychic powers, but mostly gets his psychic employee(s) to do the exorcisms for him. His primary techniques include throwing salt at his problems, running away, and punching. My favorite technique of his is Self Defense Rush which is where he punches a terrifying psychic but yells "SELF DEFENSE!" in hopes of preventing legal trouble.”

Heeeeeeeey, so for the Batman tumblr sexyman polls, I'm thinking that for the Lazarus Pit round that us fans of Two-Face ought to run a campaign. Since I'm new to the fandom, but you have a LOT of Two-Face knowledge, I was wondering if you could tell me some places where I would be able to find in-universe campaign material for Harvey Dent running for office. I just think that it would be really funny if we rebranded Harvey's canonical campaign material into stuff for a sexyman poll. But I don't exactly know where to find that stuff. >.<

Also what's the story that Two-Face almost beats Dick to death with a baseball bat in? Because unless the Freeze fans really pull through in this present round, I have a feeling that we will all need to band together if we are to have a hope of defeating the Dick stans. And what better candidate than the guy who almost beat Dick to death with a baseball bat!? And you gotta admit... He did look pretty darn sexy while doing it... >.>

There are surprisingly not a ton of Harvey campaigning images, since the image of him as a candidate is a relatively recent take on the character, likely due to The Dark Knight and its aggressive marketing. I'm honestly blanking on some good images (it's been a long day) but there's the campaign poster from Two-Face: Year One and some screenshots from early on in the Long Halloween movie where he's celebrating his victory. Along those lines you could also use some images of Billy Dee Williams in front of his giant Citizen Kane poster from Burton's Batman. Oh, and of course, the Uncle Sam promo image of Two-Face from Arkham City. I just wish I could think of some examples from actual GOOD Harvey stories, but alas, no brain tonight. Sorry I'm coming up short tonight.

The story of Harvey beating Dick Grayson with a baseball bat was Robin: Year One, a retelling of the flashback events revealed in Batman: Prodigal (specific issue, Robin #0, where Harvey originally beat Dick with his bare fists). As with Harvey killing Jason's dad, these events are no longer in continuity, but there are definitely some fans who still treat them as such and hold grudges against Harvey as a result. I have no interest in dealing with those kinds of fans any more than is strictly necessary, as they can be... intense, not to mention wholly unsympathetic to Harvey, nor do they care about how he's misused by certain writers in comics. Like, hell yeah he looked great in Robin: Year One, no argument there! But the writing was an abysmal take on Harvey.

But if you're willing to deal with those fans or even provoke them, well... godspeed, little doodle!
