hey! sorry if this is a stupid question but what placements or aspects of someone’s chart should we be looking at when we meet someone and want to get not only insight on who they are at core behind their image and superficialities or jadedness but also want to strike up intellectually stimulating conversations and get close?

Hi there anon <3 not stupid at all! I would say pay attention to mercury:

Moon—mercury can make someone open to intellectual stimulation. When harshly aspected it can either make them closed minded however, or prone to having deep conversations about trauma. More so relaying their insights.

Check where mercury sits. Mercury 8h, 12h, 11h, and 1h can denote a strong intellectual thinker. Someone who discusses deep topics with others and themselves. Debates, does not accept a simple answer.

Mercury—venus (positively aspected) can also make someone have a sharp but graceful mind. They’re smooth with their words and may take a minute to get to the point. They prefer subtlety in their communication, which is great for banter and jokes! But if you honestly ask them to dive deeper they will.

Aquarius/Capricorn mercury can suggest a deep thinker, but may be closed off at first. They can appear detached but beyond that exterior they think a lot. They think about heavy topics and the impacts of certain elements on society and themselves.

Check their moon sign too. Their moon sign is intuitively all about what they need and crave! If you can talk about what their moon sign likes they’ll surely be up for listening. So a Capricorn mercury with a pisces moon may prefer to talk abstract about a lot of topics. And they may prefer topics about spirituality, politics, the arts, and the psychology behind art. How does art convey psychological states etc. They have a lot of knowledge so staying on topic can be hard.

Gemini Venus, gemini moon, gemini sun are all so smart & intellectually stimulating. They are great for conversations because they also make it fun!

Saturn 3h can make an individual disciplined, smart and educated.

Saturn 9h can make an individual also knowledgeable and capable of deep conversations!

Any hard aspects to mercury can make them narrow minded, especially if making aspects to mars, saturn, aries/leo/cancer. If the mercury is debilitated and harshly aspected there will be a harder time talking to them.

A fire mars does not necessarily mean they are close minded, just strongly opinionated even though they love to hear others! Just pay attention to the aspects itself. The reason why I put cancer there is because it is our emotional body and our most instinctive, so if there is a harsh aspect there with mercury, the native can struggle with opening up and communicating. Leo/Aries can denote a strong ego when harshly aspected and can make a native have a “high horse” type of mindset.

Mercury touching Pluto can make for an impactful strong individual, who has a lot of knowledge, this includes all positive and negative aspects.

3. How often does it update?

Wolfsbane was initially updated on a per-chapter basis, but my plan now is to hopefully finish the first draft of the game before updating the public demo again. Wolfsbane was last updated on June 28th, 2022, and currently contains the prologue and first four chapters.

4. Regarding asking about future events, plot points, choices, or outcomes:

As a general rule, I don’t discuss future game content before it happens in the game itself. I’m the sort of author who feels a story out as I write it, and the nature of WIPs means that things are very subject to change and I don’t yet know what all I’ll be able to deliver on, so I prefer to not publicly commit to anything ahead of time. For that reason, I’d prefer to not receive any questions asking if a certain event/outcome will happen, if the MC will be able to make a certain choice, or if a character will ever do or experience a particular action or feeling. I don’t have an answer for asks of this nature because I simply don’t know, and even if I have an idea in place, I’d rather not discuss it before it appears in the story proper, lest things change from how I’ve envisioned them along the way. While questions about future happenings in the game are off limits, however, I alternatively welcome asks regarding general worldbuilding, hypothetical scenarios, and characters and events as they were in the past or are in the present. 5. Who are the ROs?

So far, no one. I feel that the label of RO carries with it certain connotations, such as each character getting a similar amount of spotlight, development, and time with the MC; but Wolfsbane is not primarily a romance story and I don’t know if looking at the characters through that lens would be beneficial for setting expectations. My intent is for Wolfsbane to be a story about characters and their experiences rather than a dating sim about love interests, and for now my focus is on developing those arcs asymmetrically and without romance being the intended culmination. Elements of romance and romantic feelings are touched on throughout the story, but not in the way that is typical for IFs.

6. Is Wolfsbane genderlocked?

Nope! The MC isn’t locked to a specific gender; there just isn’t an option to specify it in-game because it hasn’t actually come up at all. I’ll be sure to include a choice of male, female, or nonbinary if/when it becomes relevant, but feel free to imagine your Wolfsbane however you please.

8. Do you accept NSFW asks?

I don’t necessarily mind asks with NSFW topics, although I do ask that they please be actual questions I can discuss as opposed to just sharing NSFW thoughts/fantasies. I love talking about these two and especially the earlier stages of their relationship lol I talked about it in this post + wrote some hcs about their first time too.

I feel like they were getting closer and closer very quickly as they continued talking to each other every day, and then at some point the tension just got too strong. Maybe there would be sense for them to talk about their feelings, but it was the kind of situation when it was obvious even without words. So none of them really asked the other one out, but at some point they just started “dating”…

Maybe this isn’t how Vil imagined his first proper relationship to start, but it’s not like he wasn’t just as passionate as Rook was lol

Their little chats were their “dates” technically. But I think they had their first “proper date”(=going somewhere) after they started making out and having sex.

We don’t ship him with anyone yet because we haven’t seen anything of him, but based on things we already know, it feels like he is going to join the top squad. But until we actually see him and learn how he interacts with others and what dynamics he has with people around him, we can’t say for certain.

Even if we end up not shipping him with anyone, I’ll write some solo hcs about him if someone wants to read them! By the time we actually get to know him, of course. It’ll take a while lol sorry about it.

He asks her on an ordinary Tuesday afternoon as they’re quietly preparing for their departmental audit. 

When did you know? 

It sounds the same as any of the countless questions he’s asked her in the past. What time is the budget meeting? Are you familiar with the legend of the chupacabra? Do you believe in the existence of extraterrestrials? But this time she knows he means, When did you know you loved me?

And this time, she doesn’t have an answer. 

Love stories begin in meet cutes and innocent misunderstandings that are repeated and recited like scripture as the years turn to decades. They’re orchestrated by mutual friends, meddling parents, and the faceless puppet master of the universe. They originate in last calls at dark bars, at hazy, beer-soaked college parties, and, nowadays, on the pixelated screens of chat rooms. They’re born on sweaty dance floors, in seventh-period geometry classes where fate is sealed by an alphabetical seating chart, and even, you won’t believe this, on blind dates. 

From time to time, they do blossom in offices. Proximity breeds attraction, after all. The mere exposure effect dictates we’re drawn to what’s most familiar. It’s why randomly assigned college roommates end up lifelong friends. And yet, even though their job demands more shared time than your standard 9-5, she knows that simple physical closeness cannot explain why she loves him. 

She spoke once of a switch being flicked, a concrete turning point when you realize a friendship has evolved into something more, but in hindsight, it wasn’t like that at all. There was no single moment, no markable tick on the timeline she can point to and say yes, this is when I fell in love with you. Instead, it was both a gradual evolution and a feeling that had always existed since the day they met or perhaps billions of years earlier when the universe came into existence and the building blocks of matter that would one day become her blue eyes and his chestnut hair were formed. It’s a Möbius strip, their love, eternally entwined and coiling upon itself. 

She could tell him it was when she was straddling two worlds after her abduction and felt the sheer force of his will compelling her to rejoin the realm of the living. She could tell him it was when he pointed a gun at her face under the influence of Robert Modell’s psychic powers but still wasn’t able to pull the trigger. She could tell him it was when she lay dying of cancer and her only regret was never telling him how she felt. She could tell him it was at the dawning of the new millennium when they finally surrendered to the magnetism drawing them together, rationalism be damned. (She thinks it’s no accident that all these moments took place in hospitals, those lands of beginnings and endings and all the gory in-betweens.) 

But it isn’t any of those moments. It's all of them, plus a thousand forgotten ones, set in anonymous motel rooms, roadside diners, and this very basement office. 

I know now , she says. It’s the truth but also an evasion. She smiles and flips the question back to him. What about you? When did you know?

He looks at her confused, then slides a form across the desk to her and taps on a line with his pen. When did I know that you knew I was padding our expense reports to cover your little vending machine habit? 

She sighs and rolls her eyes at him.

He winks at her and once again, in this moment, she falls in love.

Kinda a crazy place to ask this question but I can’t help but be curious for ur advice. Any tips for a 1L who started at law school a month ago?

huge disclosure that for 1L school just couldn't be a main priority as much as I wanted it to be because I was working and had personal emergencies happening. but I think that goes to my main piece of advice is as much as people say your life should be school, life will continue to happen and you actually do get to decide what role you want school to play in your life.

keep what worked from undergrad it is okay to stick with that

figure out what reading order makes sense for you do you like to focus on what

when you outline make a checklist for the elements AND a rule statement for the case you will cite. always start with the broadest rule statement. I would highlight each word in the rule statement that needed to be defined.

Here is an example from civ pro 1:

 must also have minimum contact with the forum and extending jurisdiction would not offend traditional notions of fair play and substantial justice (Shaffer). A party has minimum contacts with a forum if it purposefully avails itself to the forum by deliberately engaging with significant activities within the forum ( Burger King Co. v. Rudzewicz).

4. if you use an outline bank to get copies of other's outlines that is totally great but I would suggest at least making your own case chart so you are as familiar as possible. that would include posture, facts, outcome

5. if you have extra time and really don't understand the reasoning of a SCOTUS case I think it is helpful to listen to the oral argument to figure out what the justices were thinking about when deciding and try to rationalize it that way.

6. go to office hours as much as you want, I tried to go once a month but don't go just to go if you don't have questions

7. if you are cold-called and don't have an answer do not be afraid to just get cute with it make a little joke and try to play it off that worked every time for me

general law school advice:

>if you have a locker at school keep a blazer and perfume there for any random events or on campus interviews

>mixers are sometimes worth it just for the food and drink when you are broke

>cannot recommend joining a clinic at your school more highly !!! working in the student clinic with real clients was the absolute best experience i had and loved it everyday, focus on real experience > journal

For the OC question...

Objects Leah would use to describe Nate:

A fountain pen, but like, a really fancy one made of tortoiseshell and ebony and gold wire - not only do charming words seem to flow easily from him, but there's a certain elegance in his hands and a lightness of touch that matches the finesse required to use a fountain pen properly (she could never master it). It's also slightly old-fashioned, but there's potential for change as well with special inks or new designs like those glass nibs, which he would probably appreciate even if he was a bit dubious at first.

A cashmere blanket - soft and comforting and cozy (and expensive, because Nate would never compromise on quality). Something that she doesn't necessarily need or was missing before it came into her life, but woe betide you if you try to take it away from her. She's snuggled and comfortable now.

A star chart - not just for his naval background, or his penchant for deep thinking, but because people have always used the stars for guidance. Make sure you are using a reputable astrology site when you are looking at birth charts. I use astro.com, they have the most accurate readings and charts when it comes to astrology. April 20th is the start of Taurus season so, the person you are asking about is a Taurus Sun, not an Aries Sun.

Now, when it comes to compatibility and just looking at signs I don’t give very definitive answers because any relationship can work as long as you are willing to put in the work. For some zodiac signs, it is harder for them to get along but that doesn’t mean they are not compatible at all. This is why I prefer to look at Synastry charts and Composite charts when it comes to answering questions about compatibility. Your Synastry chart is how the two of you interact together, and what aspects each of your charts makes to the other, which will tell you how you see one another and how you behave around the other. Your Composite chart takes both of your charts and combines them, finding the median of the two, which shows how your relationship is viewed and how your relationship itself is, not how you view the other or how you interact together. Synastry charts give you an overview of how you both as individuals act when together and the Composite chart tells you how the two of you are as one being, how your relationship ebbs and flows, and what impression it leaves on the people around you.

This should be my finale version of this chart, considering LO has ended and the discord Q&A has happened.

The Q&A officially ruled out Metis as Athenas' mother, making Athena and Hestia not siblings. Thank God. However, they are still aunt and niece through marriage as Hestia and Hera are siblings.

Interestingly, the identity of Hermes' father has been refused to be revealed despite it obviously being Zeus. Likely because it'd be just a repeat of the Ares stuff where they would have been involved "romantically" with their aunt (Persephone).

A lot of the children in LO also still have unconfirmed identities because of the lack of verbal acknowledgment or names said despite who they are supposed to be being clear. Arions identity was only recently confirmed inadvertently in the discord Q&A when someone asked what he was up to.

And since the finale, there is now an implied relationship between Artemis and Selene. Why? I'm not sure. But what I can tell you is that it's weird. Not just because of the lack of any relationship or interaction between them but because Selene is implied to be her great great aunt (sister of great grandfather, Ouranos) due to Rachel making Helios the brother of Ouranos.

To cut it short, Rachel's attempt at removing incest from the family tree actually made it worse because of the falsely claimed removal of it and by making it far more confusing in comparison to its myth counterpart in trying to (poorly) hide it. She would have been better off if she had left it alone entirely and never tried to change it, made genetics not matter because they're God's, just ignored it entirely, or created her own idea of how gods are made.

Because for the love of God, the family tree in LO makes my head hurt and is painful to look at.

Hello! I hope you can answer these questions that's been bothering me for a good while. Isn't Athena and Hestia dating incest? I know LO isn't the first story to try and avoid incest in a Greek Pantheon adaptation, but like... Hestia is Athena's step-aunt in this continuity right? Wouldn't them dating still be considered "taboo?" Apologies if you've answered similar questions in the past!

Yeah, Rachel kind of shot herself in the foot by trying to erase incest but then implementing all the plot twists of Apollo and Artemis being Zeus' kids and the whole thing with the fertility goddesses, it just wound up all circling back to incest again lmao

But yeah Athena would be related to Hestia because Metis is the mother of both Hera and Hestia, and Athena is Hera's step-daughter, at least according to the LO wiki. They never go into detail regarding Athena's birth so I think it's safe to assume it's the default assumption that Athena was born from Zeus' head after he ate Metis. So Hestia is part of Athena's extended family as her step-aunt.

So, working at a library, sometimes you get asked questions about what appear, based on recent purchases, to be media trends.

A patron was noticing the new batch of Cruella movies, and put that with the Maleficent movies, and started asking about villains. And this discussion wound up, as talking with me in person tends to do, covering a lot of ground - starting with “why are these movies what Disney is doing lately” (in my view, it’s because in a lot of their older movies the strongest female character is the villain, so why not give her a story of her own) and finally ending up on ‘what makes a good villain’ and finally ‘what’s your favorite villain’.

I had to really think about that last one, because while I appreciate a good villain I don’t tend to think of them past that point. A good villain makes for a good story, and I tend to remember the stories more than the villain.  But my final answer was:

Vorbis.

Now, if you haven’t read Discworld, and therefore haven’t read Small Gods, I urge you to stop right now and go grab a Discworld book and get started. Yes, the fandom is huge. Yes, we have reading guides with flow charts and the entire fandom worldwide will happily leap at the chance to guide you to THE Discworld book we think you’ll love best, but the blunt truth of the matter is - you can pick up nearly any Discworld book, at any time, and you’ll probably get a very good idea whether you’ll like the series from that even if that particular book isn’t your favoritest one ever. Pratchett has a style that permeates most of his works. It’s kind of impossible to miss.

But let me get back to Vorbis, and Small Gods.

This book is basically Terry Pratchett poking at organized religion. The structure of the main religion under scrutiny would best be considered analogous to medieval catholicism, but - and this is where we start getting Pratchetty - it’s just a structure. What he talks about can be applied to any religion in history that’s had (or currently has) enough power, enough dominance in society, to be a dictating element in policy. Omnia, the kingdom he focuses on, is a theocracy. Any government in the history of the world that has been or is leaning toward theocracy is fair game.

Vorbis is the head of the inquisition. He is the head of that branch of the theocracy that deals with people who don’t properly align, mentally or behaviorally, with the theocracy’s rules. I bet just telling you that gives you this mental picture of Vorbis’ character. Unless you’re familiar with Discworld, you’re almost certainly on the wrong track.

Vorbis is devout. Genuinely devout. Deeply intelligent. Believes with all his heart that he follows the word of his god. Truly does the work he does because he believes it brings glory to his god, and takes nothing for himself - no wealth, no indulgences of any kind. 

And yet, he kills people every day. He arranges for wars to happen. He has heretics tortured, usually to death. I can’t begin to really describe how terrifying Vorbis is when you read about him - I wish I were that good a writer. I’m not. Because the worst thing about Vorbis is something one of the characters points out in the story itself. The worst thing about Vorbis is that he makes other people think the way he does. He twists the world, not deliberately or with intent, but just by thinking the way he does, showing people how he thinks. Even his enemies will start thinking the way he does - and I don’t mean agreeing with him. I mean the way Vorbis thinks human life doesn’t matter, compared to the glory of his god. Vorbis teaches this by his actions, so that other people start also thinking human life doesn’t matter, compared to - whatever ideal they have. He makes people around him, affected by him, forget that ideals mean nothing if no one’s alive to reach for them. He makes people forget that torture is a bad thing, full stop, that human suffering is a bad thing, full stop. And it’s not magic. It’s just...knowing how people work.

I don’t think I’ve ever run across a villain, in any book, that did that - that left kind of societal stain on the world even after they were gone, that felt that real, that ‘no really, watch for people like this in the real world’ human.

“The Great McCartney Rash”

I’ve seen references to Paul having had a long hospital stay as a child come up here and there, but I don’t remember seeing any references to it in bios I’ve read (please send me the info. if you find it! I would have thought to find it in Tune In, but I didn’t see a mention?) 

The story seems to have existed in the ‘60s and Paul brought it up himself in a conversation that’s reported in Club Sandwich in 1986.

It comes up in 1964′s The Beatle Book, c. Lancer Books, which claims to have it on “The best Beatle authority” (side note: this book is also a source for the claim that Paul likes to sleep  “raw” because he “loathes pajamas”). 

The story there is that Paul had what his family called “The Great McCartney Rash”:

“The morning after Paul returned to his home in Allerton [after camp], he developed what later came to be known in his family as The Great McCartney Rash.

The rash began at breakfast when Paul’s toes started to turn ruby red. By lunch time, the redness had moved northward to his waist. And before tea time, he was as red as a tomato from his scalp to the soles of his feet. 

His parents rushed him to the hospital, where he underwent a thorough examination and was hastily committed to an isolation ward, where all visitors except doctors, nurses and the hospital staff were barred. 

No one would give him a proper answer to his persistent demands to know what was wrong with him. The most explicit reply he got was from a nurse who called upon her experience in medicine to tell him, ‘Little boys should be seen and not heard.’ 

So when no one was looking, Paul sneaked a peek at the chart hanging from the foot of his bed. It told him nothing he didn’t already know. His name was there, and spelled correctly. So was the date on which he was admitted to the hospital. But in the blank space under the heading ‘Complaint,’ he saw only two large question marks. 

They gave him pills. They rubbed his rash with an assortment of gooey fluids, slimy ointments and ghastly powders, and eventually it went away, but to this day Paul is not sure if the medications cured the rash or if it just went away by itself.

He was kept in the hospital for five weeks, and on the day he was discharged, the head doctor told him he had probably been suffering from an attack of rheumatic fever caused by a cold he had caught while at camp.

‘But the doc didn’t seem terribly positive,’ Paul recalls. ‘I still suspect the old fellow didn’t really know what I’d had.’”

Then in Club Sandwich no. 41, Summer ‘86, we get this as part of a show Paul did for hospital radio :

“After Paul's views (favourable) on the current music scene, the single version of "Let It Be" leads him into his own memories of hospital.  

 ‘I was in when I was about eleven, in Olive Mount Hospital, Liverpool. I was in there for well over six weeks and at first I didn't really like it. After a while, as I started to recover, I got to really like it... So I hope you can find all the nice things about the hospital - I mean, those nurses, they're pretty rough but they're good old skins really... Hope it makes you feel better hearing me natter here. I'd love to send all my family's love and my best wishes for your speedy recovery. All the best from me.’ (Cue "The Man".)”

On laguz and Branded aging

I think a good question everyone wants to know is: how long do the laguz live? And the follow-up question is: how long do the Branded live?

Because I don’t want to clutter everyone’s feeds with long, nonsensical, barely coherent theories and rambling, I will discuss my answers to these questions after the cut. Also, unapologetic spoilers for FE9 and FE10 incoming.

If you want to know canon facts, there is next to nothing. For laguz, all we know is that Janaff is somewhere around 110 in Path of Radiance, and that the dragons live for a long time, barely aging once they reach a certain level of maturity.

Janaff: I used to be quite the daredevil before I grew into adulthood. Nothing ever seemed to please me. Shinon: How old are you, anyway? Janaff: I'm a bit over 110 years old. Shinon and Janaff: A Support, Path of Radiance

Nasir​​​​​​​: It may be difficult for you beorc to believe, but... We of the dragon tribe live for a very, very long time. When we reach a certain maturity, we stop showing almost all signs of further aging. For example, do you remember Prince Kurthnaga whom you met in Goldoa? Ike​​​​​​​: Yeah, he was a nice kid. Nasir​​​​​​​: The prince is the youngest in all of Goldoa, yet for all his apparent youth, he's at least a hundred years old. Chapter 27, Path of Radiance

Beyond that? Absolutely nothing. As far as the Branded go, we get lots of other facts about them, but not about how they age beyond:

Stefan: You may have already started to notice. We age differently than the beorc. Of course, the specifics of it depend on the type of laguz blood that flows in your veins. Soren and Stefan: A Support, Path of Radiance

Micaiah: That must be it… Oh, Sothe, ever since he was small, he’s tried to act more grown up than the grown-ups… I’ve taken care of him so long, and still I’ve never seen him smile so easily before. Muarim: Hm… Watch what you say. Comments like that… They reveal that your appearance belies your true age. Micaiah: What are you-- Muarim: Among the laguz, there are those who detest and revile half-breeds such as yourself. They call you "parentless," and deny you any laguz heritage, honor, or dignity. Take due care. Chapter 1-7, Radiant Dawn

Micaiah: I’ve avoided people most of my life to conceal my brand...and my powers. But there’s no way to hide how very slowly I age. I just keep moving through Daein. The same holds true now... I won’t be able to stay in this army long. Chapter 1-F, Radiant Dawn

Stefan: One day, the laguz blood shows itself, marking the child’s body with a brand. How old is that girl, hmm? I don’t think she’s as young as she looks. The other curse is that we age differently from beorc. It depends on what laguz blood the child has, but it always slows how fast we age. Base Conversation 4-F-1: Visitor, Radiant Dawn

So, you know, slower than beorc, but nothing set in stone or factual about how old certain Branded are. That would be too convenient.

Fortunately, they released artbooks with profiles and information about the world that's not discussed in-game. Perhaps something in there?

One of the artbooks provides this delightful tidbit of information:

Which, while useful, leaves something to be desired. It contradicts some in-game information, specifically by implying that Branded blood can be diluted to be more like beorc, whereas in the games, Branded seems to be a recessive gene that can skip generations and still have the same impact. I think this chart came from an earlier development idea, but wasn’t something that stuck the landing when Path of Radiance was released.

There was also a Q&A that was posted by Intelligent Systems after the release of Radiant Dawn regarding the lifespans of the laguz that show us what the development team was thinking after making both Tellius games (translated by the lovely amielleon)

Question: About how long are laguz lifespans? Answer: Compared to the beorc, the beast tribes' are about 5~6 times. The hawks and ravens of the bird tribe are nearly 10 times. The herons' are over a thousand years, and the dragons' are over two thousand years.

If you compare to the pre-Path of Radiance early development chart, this obviously shows they’ve extended it out a little bit for all of the tribes. The chart also cuts everyone off at 60 years old, and we know it is possible for humans to live longer than 60 years old, so the laguz must live much longer than that. (Nealuchi is designed to look around 72, so he's beating that average by a lot).

So anyway, where does that leave us? Well, we have a starting base, and we have a few facts we know for certain:

Janaff is a bit over 110 years old in Path of Radiance. Janaff was designed to look about 30 in both Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Janaff is 5 years older than Ulki, but Ulki was designed to look about 30 years old as well.

So, whatever answer I come up with, Hawks should look about 30 when they’re 105-113 (Ulki being 105 in Path of Radiance, and Janaff being 113 in Radiant Dawn).

We also know that Branded begin aging normally like a beorc, but then they start aging a lot slower. Soren and Zelgius both mention that they have recently noticed that they’re aging a lot slower than the beorc around them, and Stefan’s conversation with Soren seems to imply that Stefan knows this is a normal thing for Branded.

Stefan: You've grown quite good at hiding it. But, it's merely a matter of time before your heritage becomes...evident. Soren: ...Evident? Stefan: You may have already started to notice. We age differently than the beorc. Of course, the specifics of it depend on the type of laguz blood that flows in your veins. Soren: I thought I was aging normally... Well, until about three years ago. Soren and Stefan: A Support, Radiant Dawn

Zelgius: Lord Sage, I-- I realized some years ago that I was aging more slowly than others do. ???: And you wish to conceal that fact, don't you? Is that why you rarely remove your armor, even when indoors? Zelgius: Yes...but this ruse will not last indefinitely. In a few years, I will be forced to leave this army's service. Chapter 4-F-2, Radiant Dawn

Nasir says that “we reach a certain maturity, we stop showing almost all signs of further aging.” Combined with how the Branded believe they’re aging normally until they’re suddenly not, this statement leads me to believe that the laguz also probably age the same as beorc for the first few years of their lives and then age slower as they grow older, probably earlier and more extreme in the slow down than a Branded. The only fact I have to support myself is that laguz and beorc share the Zunanma as a common ancestor, and evolved separately from them, so it makes more sense to me that they age about the same when born.

I also hate the idea of a dragon baby being born and not being the equivalent of 1 year old until they’ve been alive for 17 years, so there’s that too.

As far as how long the Branded live, I don’t like this “dilution” mechanic of the early development chart. I much prefer the idea that the Branded age half as slowly as the laguz tribe/clan their blood comes from. I have no facts to support myself with, except that it feels right for Zelgius and Stefan to be much older than they appear to be than the dilution mechanic allows (Stefan is designed to be 29 in both games, and there’s no way he's only 35-38, and Zelgius is definitely older than 36-39, considering he looked like an adult before Greil left Daein and so he couldn’t have only been about 16-19 back then). And the chart was prepared by a Begnion noble, so obviously we have to ask what the bias of the writer was when Branded are considered a crime against the goddess that noble worships. (Not me questioning the integrity of a fictional scholar writing about fictional species.)

Anyway. If you just want to use the original chart despite the flaws I have with it and not think about complexities, the stronger/more physical clans live shorter lives than the weaker/more magical clans within the different tribes, and wolves feel somewhere between tigers and cats, so I would put them between those two, and here’s an updated chart with dilutions for all the different kinds of Branded. I’ve also added a max of 100 year life spans so you get a better feel for it. According to the chart, Janaff should be looking to be about 32 years old, not 30, but it’s not too far off to be considered non compliant with canon. I shouldn’t have to explain to the website that spawned Spiders Georg how averages and outliers work.

But if you want to go deeper, like I did, I will. The Q&A shows that the developers later felt that the different tribes would live a lot longer than even the 100 year old max allows according to the early development chart. The beast tribes don’t live to be about 500-600 years old, the hawks and ravens don’t get to be near 1,000, the herons don’t exceed 1,000, and the dragons don’t exceed 2,000.

So, doubling down on the idea that the laguz are born and age like beorc and then slow down, I think the best time for this to start would be around puberty because that's when all the changes occur in the body, and then the older they get, the slower they age. This also ties into Nasir’s “reach a certain maturity” statement from before, as the beginning and end of puberty mark the greatest maturity shifts in the growth process (Though, as a woman in her 30s, I would just like to throw in that I am firmly of the opinion that no one IRL is mature until they’re in their mid to late 20s).

I think for the Branded to only be able to notice it a few years ago when they’re older in appearance, their laguz blood might not start impacting them until they're post puberty or at the end of puberty. There are almost exactly 0* canon facts to go off of, but it feels the most logical to me to fit in with what all the characters say in game. *Soren is designed to look 16 in Path of Radiance and look at Zelgius when he's saying that quote I had before:

I realize by anime aesthetic, Zelgius is almost definitely meant to look 10 or something like that, but Fire Emblem tends to skew slightly closer to realistic ages...sometimes...maybe...in my dreams...

I bumped up the factors from the original chart for everyone but the dragons because they were all so far from what the Q&A* said they should end up like and then I decided that there were three phases to account for:

Beorc aging: From birth to the onset puberty for full laguz, and from birth to the end of puberty for Branded

Moderately slow aging: For the duration of puberty for full laguz, and from the end of puberty to about “25” for Branded (which is about when the mind is “fully developed” in humans)

Slower aging: Lasts for the rest of their life, aging continues to slow down the older the individual becomes.

*For the hawks and ravens, I couldn’t get them up to living anywhere close to 1,000 years the Q&A implied without drastically not meeting the requirement that Janaff and Ulki look around 30ish in the 105-113 range, so the in-game facts have to take precedence over the Q&A facts.

If you want something a lot more detailed, I will add the charts below that show each laguz type by each “year” of their life. Since afab individuals and amab individuals hit puberty at different ages, the chart shows that too for the averages: from 12-14 for afab individuals, and 13-15 for amab individuals. Obviously individual characters might go through the different phases at different times, but the charts below are averages and guidelines.

🪐Natal Saturn rx & Natal Jupiter rx 🪐

— Saturn, like the other planets, moves backwards at times. The term "retrograde" refers to the fact that the planets appear to be travelling backward in the sky, therefore we count degrees backward instead of forward until Saturn changes course and returns to direct. Our counting is slowed as a result of this. Retrograde motion can extend for months and has an impact on the time of your Saturn Return. It also has an impact on how many times your Saturn will be hit during your reincarnation. Let's assume that Saturn is in Aquarius at 27 degrees, at the end of the sign.

During Saturn's two-and-a-half-year transit through Aquarius, Saturn is unlikely to move from zero to twenty-seven in a straight line. Saturn will reach a particular degree, then pause, go retrograde, pause, and then resume its onward motion through the sign until it reaches the finish. Because this process takes months, you may experience your Saturn Return more than once every twenty-eight years! Therefore, your Saturn rx will manifest a result of Saturn Return as such:

First Saturn Return: ages twenty-seven to thirty-one

Second Saturn Return: ages fifty-six to sixty

Third Saturn Return: ages eighty-four to ninety

But how does Saturn in retrograde manifest its affect on one’s life? 

When Saturn is retrograde in your chart, you may feel more sorrow and self-doubt than normal. Others won't know how you're feeling since you like to keep your worries to yourself. Instead, you are too cautious out of dread of disappointing others. It generally refers to a situation in which the father was either absent or only available to administer discipline rather than encouraging.

It may make you feel uneasy in situations that aren't bothersome to others. Saturn retrograde people may find social situations incredibly tough. Jupiter represents the instructor or professor; they are a supporter of endeavors that advance consciousness. Jupiter represents the higher intellect, bringing one beyond acquired limitations, whether exactly or symbolically, and into an investigation of the riddle, which anticipates a rebound of faith.

Retrograde planets, according to astrology, represent an internal, contemplative cycle, which corresponds to the nature of the planet and the constellation it is crossing. In Jupiter's case, this manifests as a process and length of intense spiritual and intellectual development on a personal level. Jupiter's retrograde in natal chart signifies deep inner transformation.
