Could I request a NSFW megatron x cybertronian reader. The reader is the ship's draftsman usually he works with brainstorm and preceptor and often reports back to rodimus but the one time they report to megatron, they come back to brainstorm with their brain fucked silly, their valve nice and full, and with their blueprints scrunched up and damaged.

Perceptor hums curiously, where on the ship are you? Surely it doesn’t take you this long to delivery blueprints and get the captains approval, right? You are a dutiful bot, you like staying on time and you’d usually send him or Brainstorm a message if things came up…speaking of.

The red bot looks over to his colleague, not at all surprised to find the teal bot oblivious to the world around him, it would be easy for him to miss anything.

“Brainstorm?”

Perceptor sighs watching the other bot strip was wires. 

“Brainstorm!”

“Huh? Oh, yeah?” Brainstorm blinks his optics rapidly, clearly having been so lost in his project.

“Our assisant has been gone a while, do you think we should comm him?” Perceptor looks to the time, noting you’ve been for nearly an hour.

Brainstorm waves him off with ‘pff’

“You worry too much, for all you know Rodimus is stalling and Ultra Magnus got off topic.”

“And Megatron?’

“Now why would they have to go to him for those blueprints? Ah…I guess he is also Captain, meh, our little draftsmech probably got to rambling, they’ll be back.”

Perceptor just hopes he’s right, trusting Megatron is still new, but surely he wouldn’t hurt or yell at you, you’re too sweet!

How you wish you could talk, to babble off nonsense that Megatron loves to hear so much, but he can’t risk anyone else hearing how fragged out you are in his office. your back strut arched perfectly for him.

Your optics roll back feeling Megatron’s large chassis pressing into you, your intake stuffed with two of his thick digits muffling your pitiful cries. He’s so big, almost too big for your valve to take, yet you take him like you were made for him. Transfluid from pervious overloads sliding down your legs and twitching spike, dripping to the floor below.

You are a stunning mess.

“As much as I’d love to hear your voice, you don’t want the others to hear just how good you’re taking my spike, do you?”

You sob around his digits, muttering something or trying too as your valve clenches down on him trying to milk him once more of his transfluid. Megatron doesn’t understand how Rodimus or Ultra Magnus do it, being able to sit there while you so passionately and excitedly explain the blueprints you worked on, and the plans for it.

Such a sparkle in your optics, he wanted you to come undone.

His engines purrs lowly as your servos claw at his desk.

“You’re making such a mess…frag…” he groans. His free servo on your hips keeping them up and arch to take all of his spike.

Your optics leaking lubricant as your frame is wracked with sensitivity. His spike slams so deeply into you, stretching you out and denting your metal just to make all of him fit! You’re gonna overload again—!!

Megatron curses under his harsh ex-vent, red optics burning brightly as he leans back watching your valve clench down around him, your own fluid gushing from around him, sending him into yet another climax himself.

His transfluid is so hot inside you, painting your insides pink. He pauses, savoring the warmth and closeness you two have in this moment with you warming his spike. Megatron slides his digits from your intake, letting you speak freely, or you would if your brain module wasn’t static.

Megatron chuckles, gazing tenderly at your fucked out expression, such a smart bot fragged so dumb over his desk. He almost wants to coo when you let out a broken whine, so pitifully too, sad he’s pulling his spike from your well loved puffy valve.

Once empty you fall limp across his desk, your frame trembling and twitching, he can’t help but find you so intoxicating. His servos gently rub across your back, slowly bringing you down from your high.

“Think you can stand?”

“Mm…gah…”

Megatron stifles a chuckle at your sounds, you’re just asking to get bent over again. He helps you steady yourself, your blueprints in your servos wrinkled and partially torn down the middle from your previous grip on them.

“Fix up those plans of yours and I’ll sign off on it, okay?”

You nod dumbly, legs shaking and threatening to give out from underneath you. Megatron smiles at you, placing a servo on your cheek to give you a gentle pet before letting you melt into his touch.

“Good boy. Now, you might want to head back before your coworkers get suspicious.”

Oh. My. Primus.

You forgot.

You forgot you needed to head back to the lab and help run some diagnostics, oh no-

“Right! Right I just….” You’re shaking so bad, your modesty paneling doing a horrible job keep all his thick transfluid inside.

But he doesn’t telling you that as you hobble out of his office, and back to the lab.

The cycle is almost over, surely no one is still in there. You can barely think, the only thing your foggy mind can think of his obeying Megatron’s order to get to the lab. Perceptor awakes from his near half stasis at the sound of the door sliding open and someone stumbling, it even catches Brainstrom’s attention.

Both sets of optics widen at the sight of you, drool still wet down your chin, optics glazed over with bite marks denting your neck cables. Down your legs is raw evidence of what possibly could’ve happened to you, with the transfluid staring brightly back at them.

Brainstorm is frozen in shock, completely blind to Perceptor rushing to your quaking form to help you sit down. Your words slurring, all he can manage to hear is ‘plans’ ‘made it’ ‘did..good.’

“Brainstorm don’t just sit there, bring them some energon!”

Perceptor helps clean you up, wiping away any coolant and spit from your face plate. His face burning when faced with the mess between your legs, he isn’t sure who or how this even happened but he will be raising several problems until he finds out.

Brainstorms coos softly at you, helping you drink the energon which you are swift to guzzle down, desperate for something to eat.

You could pass out right here and die one happy bot.

Though it’s hard to when Percy and Brainstorm are asking you so many questions, even arguing amongst each other.

PSA #2 For the Week

First, if you have not read my first PSA this week, please do so here.

Now, for the following:

I feel like I need to clarify this. But please do not take everything that the Wizard says at face value! Please use your critical thinking skills when consuming the information from the SSs I provide. I think that it provides a lot of clarity behind the systems of PR/celebrity culture, which is essential in understanding a lot of the context in this saga. However, it is a robot, so it doesn't get everything perfect. It is a very powerful tool though. I want to specify though that I developed my own theories over the last 11 months as a critical thinking human, and the Wizard has just given me some context on how my theories fit into the celebrity/PR world (a world in which I, and basically everyone here, is not a part of). So, it's provided me more NUANCED conclusions, but it has not actually shaped how I developed my general theories.

To the people who have messaged me about how to make their own wizard, ChatGPT is free. You can give it more information to analyze like photos, videos, and website and social media links if you pay for their subscriptions, but you don't have to do that. It just means you have to type out more information though. I encourage anyone that wants to though to play around with ChatGPT! It doesn't even have to be about L/N. It's just a really fun tool in my opinion.

I have spent HOURS now feeding the wizard key pieces of information about this whole saga. Ridiculous? Yes. But I tend to have hyperfixations and I fell down a rabbit hole and had just too much fun. 😅 It also brought back a lot of the joy that I had been missing for a long time around L/N because of the layers and layers of BS that have been going on for months now. It allowed me to cut through a lot of the BS, and take a lot of my emotions out of the situation. However, I understand that this isn't everyone's cup of tea, and that is alright. But it is just such a fun little tool, that I wanted to share it with the people that would appreciate it. And I know some of you do, so I will keep posting.

I hope you know that L/N will be all right with people talking about them. People have been talking about them for years (literally). None of this speculation and chatter is new information to them, and I hope they find some humor in a lot of the absurdity of all this.

Shipping should be fun and silly. It's not life or death. I missed blogging and I wanted to pivot to a different concept, so I have. I'm having a lot of fun with this right now, so I'll be doing this for the time being (until I don't want to anymore).

Lastly, I chose to call it the Wizard because I find it cute, silly, and fun. That is just my humor. However, feel free to call the robot WHATEVER you want. I totally don't care what you call it lol (as long as you're nice about it 👀).

MLS6 Sublimation

An analysis of Marinette's behavior/reactions (by request) Salt-Free.

This post is in response to an ask, because tumblr ate that reply and posts save drafts!

The ask was in regards to my statement in another post that Marinette's actions were a 'control' move, asking me to clarify what that meant. I'm going to break it down here, referencing (but not quoting I do not have transcripts) on screen statements and behaviors

The goal is explaining, not vilifying.

I don't blame anyone for missing some of this, the messaging was very muddled in this episode and you could easily lose things in Marinette's breakneck word-vomit as well as some mixed messaging later in the episode.

You can break down Marinette's behavior re:Sublime like this:

Motivation:Fear

Response:Control

Tool:Friendship.

Early on we establish that Marinette is afraid. She's 'not jealous'(she claims) but she very much is catastrophizing. She envisions Adrien liking Sublime better than her and deciding to go out with her. We'll put a pin in this for later but for our purposes now this admits her emotion: She is afraid.

Her response to this fear is an attempt to gain a level of control over the situation. If she has control, she doesn't need to be afraid!(She thinks) She goes right back into her (worst) habits of the previous seasons. She gathers intel, follows/stalks/spies on people, and forms elaborate plans.

All of these are bent to trying to befriend Sublime- but friendship isn't the real motivation, just the tool. I have no doubt Marinette would like to be friends with Sublime bit in this instance that is not *why* she is going to these lengths. Marinette believes if she is Sublime's friend that somehow she(Sublime) won't want to date Adrien, or maybe just that Marinette could spot anything forming and head it off. -She will have more control.

And that's it really. I'm not going to dig into Marinette's specific behaviors as I think they were done 'for the show' you *could* make the final talk with Sublime into being a control move too (guilt/pity so that Sublime would feel bad 'stealing' Adrien) but I think that was more about shoehorning in a 'lesson' while not wanting to address the lesson set up at the start(for unknown reasons)

Now I am going to get into *why* what Marinette is doing is actually worse than what she has done before. If you can't stomach even a well intentioned critique of our protagonist, this is your warning.

In Sublimation Marinette is treating Adrien as an *object*. From the very beginning her fear discounts his agency. Marinette us afraid Sublime will be better and so Adrien will leave. It's 1+1 to her.

The fact that Adrien has openly and repeatedly professed his love for her doesn't seem to weigh for anything. Are we to assume her own love is so mercenary? If someone just slightly 'better' than Adrien came along, would she jump ship? I'd like to think not.

Now, this is a common (and very tired) romance trope, but it is one that needs to die, and it feeds poorly into Marinette's other behaviors. It also shows a regression. It was one thing to worry that an Adrien who she wasn't dating, who hadn't told her he loved her, might be wooed by someone else amazing(Kagami). It is something else entirely to consider him fickle and a mere creature to be dazzled by a new and shiny thing.

Her approach -inserting herself into Adrien's friendship- also disregards his autonomy. Her little 'my future friends' speech might seem cute, but with the knowledge of her fear and the lengths she goes to, it is clear- Adrien can't have female friends who Marinette doesn't have an eye on.

A healthy response is to wait to be introduced. It is good to have friends who are 'yours' outside of who you are in a relationship. Each party should know people who are not beholden to the other.

If she couldn't wait(which we will allow for, anxiety exists) ask to be introduced. Keeping Adrien in the loop and letting him have agency in the hows, whens, and ifs of things is still reasonably reapectful.

Going behind his back to forge a connection without his involvement and 'usurp' the friendship is is just flatly unhealthy. Yes Adrien makes light of it, but this is the abused boy who has been told the person who abused him was a hero. His ideas about autonomy and self-worth are a bit sketchy at the moment.

This is not all to say Marinette is a 'bad person'. It *is* to say what she is doing here is bad, top to bottom. Marinette behaved terribly in this episode. Do not do anything remotely resembling what she did. Do not take away any of her justifications as valid. They are the same logic that an alcoholic uses to say 'Just one won't hurt'.

Here's to hoping this particular arc of Marinette's journey ends quickly. It feels like a real step back for her.

The nobles watch as the mysterious hooded healer casually points out every enemy ship and the power each boat holds. This was the same healer supporting the black swordsman and Commander Cale Henituse.

"Hmmm, some foot soldiers are jumping off the ship and into the water. There are currently more than a thousand living soldiers struggling in the water. Ah of course the number of dead people outweighs those numbers. Be careful Commander Cale, some of them are pretending to be dead."

_____ is currently using a voice changer to hide their identity and a mage to deliver their message through telepathy for those far away. 

"We'll have other ways to take care of them so don't bother, just focus on finding the man controlling the wyverns earlier."

When _____ first sat barefoot at the ship's edge, most nobles thought the healer came to play around. Some nobles even had the guts to yell at them when Cale left. Despite that, the mysterious person didn't give them an ounce of attention. They merely continued kicking their bare feet in the water as if they came to frolic in it.

This angered some of the nobles even more. Just who was this person that dared ignore high status people such as themselves? Moreover, they can't take a peek at their face because they also wear a mask underneath the hood.

However, their anger dissipated once the healer clad in the hooded robe started speaking. Whether it was a friend or a foe, they seemed to know where everyone in the ocean was. Meanwhile, their soft and calm voice made it seem as though they were discussing the weather, not exactly fitting for a person giving out the coordinates of places that need to be obliterated.

"Please connect me to the one in charge of the east side."

_____ who mostly kept their gaze in the water only looked up to address the mage aiding them and the ships attacking.

"Attack to the left. No, not there push it left a bit more. Yes, that's it. Don't attack the right side, the power on that ship increased I think some of our people are there."

Even the slowest of nobles could now understand the role of the hooded person. They were there to act in everyone's eyes. They can accurately feel everyone even through all the fog and the chaos. It was another measure to help everyone not get lost.

"To the mages in charge of airstrikes, do not touch northwest areas 2, 6, 7, and 9. Otherwise, feel free to attack the water."

Everything continued like that for the entirety of the battle. The mysterious person didn't move except for the few times they kicked their feet and stretched their hands. Of course, no one had a way of knowing that whenever _____ stretched out their hands they were stealthily trying to harm enemy soldiers as well.

Well, almost no one could.

"Human! We were so busy earlier that I didn't tell you but this great and mighty being could feel kind _____'s power a few times in the water but they didn't seem to be healing anyone."

Cale felt confused at Raon's report. He had specifically instructed _____ to focus on using their ancient power and not heal anyone. He knows that the healer isn’t the type to disobey their orders. Moreover, _____ didn't disobey anything because they didn't heal anyone. But what could they be doing with their powers if they aren't healing people?

"Oh also! Those useless noble bastards were also talking bad about our _____ when you left. Some of them even had the nerve to directly yell at them. I wanted to smack them, but you told me to not do anything to those people for now so I didn't."

If Cale didn't feel irritated at the nobles who only knew how to attach themselves to someone with power before, he's definitely pissed now.

Just want to send love to everyone in fandom who is frustrated with the current storyline. I still believe Buddie is coming truly everything is pointing in that direction even if we get minimal movement this season.

We may be stuck with characters and storylines we don’t want for a while longer but I do believe in the long run it will work out. Try not to let the negativity in fandom get you down. Also try not to let the over zealous fan worship of certain ships and characters get to you. That’s been one of the most difficult things for me lately but I’m trying to refocus on what I love and that’s Buck and Eddie.

There’s a reason everyone talks about Buddie not just those of us in our fandom. Big time articles have been written about Buddie and Oliver is asked about Buddie in every interview now. It’s because our ship is not only one of the most enduring and amazing on 911 but people are literally drawn to the show because of Buddie. And not just because it’s too hot firefighters in love (even if they haven’t admitted it in so many words yet) but because the way they love and care for one another is inspiring and hopeful and a beautiful representation of a love we all wish we could have.

Don’t lose heart Buddie fans our ship will come out on top. Buck and Eddie have six long years of shared history. Of loving, fighting, supporting, putting their lives on the line for each other, co-parenting, calling out each others bs, seeing each others flaws and loving anyway, pushing each other to be better, working together, commiserating together, shared trauma etc. No one else Buck or Eddie get paired with could compare to that kind of history or connection. The connection that was there basically from the beginning with Buddie.

Keep showing love for Buddie on social media especially to those in our fandom making new Buddie content. We want to keep our fandom growing. Feel free to message me anytime if you need to vent. I frickin love my Aus Sally, i purposely made her the opposite of how the fandom majority sees her and I love her now lol.

I feel like the Creepypasta fandom has this overly Pure and innocent view of Sally, with the frilly dresses bows and sweet innocent attitude even not allowing any shipping with her as odd as that is.

I've seen many people headcannon her as Aroace Wich Is fine if you just like it or are even self projecting a bit cuz I've seen people do but, butttt ive also seen a pretty big amount of people headcannon her as Aroace specifically because of the SA in her story, and that's never really sat right with me just cuz it kinda sends the message of

If you've been SA'd in the past you'll never feel love or want to even think of anything romantic or sexual again. Which admittedly can happen as a trauma response but it's not all the time people have many different trauma responses and for my Sally I wanted to lean away from that.

My Sally isn't some innocent girl who can't defend herself and wears all these frilly dresses and needs to be covered at all times, she's not afraid to wear things like Tanktops crop tops shorts heels and just generally more revealing stuff like most of the fandom tends to portray her as, tho obviously it's not to the overly sexualized and inappropriate type of revealing stuff I'm just saying Sally isn't held back by the SA she's grown up and she's not ashamed of her body and not afraid to wear more revealing stuff like Tanktops as it's not what you wear NO ONE deserves SA or is asking for it just by wearing shorts or a crop top and you shouldn't be expected to be innocent and completely covered at all times it's okay to wear whatever it's up to the adults to not be creepy about it.

She's still girly overall loves pink and ribbons and glitter but she's not some innocent child she knows what happened to her was wrong and she's trying to move on from it and live a normal life, she's also not stupid and can defend herself another thing that buggs me is how many people make characters like Masky or Toby or slender always come to her rescue making sure no man can hurt her again but to me that just takes away her agency, saying she needs all the men in her life to protect her when she can protect herself they should be guiding her and teaching her how to fight properly not just doing it for her.

We Need to Talk About Morality in Media:

Sometimes it feels like nuance is systematically ignored in these large fandoms like the Hoyoverse games.

I definitely have thoughts about a lot of things. Very complicated, often critical thoughts. But I don’t think it’s enough to just…. Write everything off as completely acceptable or completely unacceptable. It all feels very reactionary.

And this isn’t me chickening out and going with the most moderate opinions as though lack of extremity makes the correct option. There are elements of Hoyoverse games that I greatly like or dislike, and I want to be able to express those takes freely without the assumption that I’m “one of them,” the malicious opposing side as determined by whatever camp the reader has decided is fundamentally good and correct.

It’s a thought I have again and again, any time there’s controversy over the games’ merits and failings. Some might say that there’s nothing actually stopping me from posting about these regular controversies. There isn’t. That’s true. But if I’m going to roll the dice for that random chance of disproportionate, overwhelming negativity, it’s not going to be just in reference to Twitter drama over the anime gacha games. It’s going to be a far-reaching critique of current fandom/media culture.

So I’ll just preface this lecture with the following messages— if you believe I’m provoking you specifically, then that’s your feeling to bear. I don’t have anyone specific in mind and don’t intend to be directly inflammatory. I care a lot about having real discussions about these issues and don’t appreciate bad faith.

Correlation is not Causation

Do you, reader, genuinely have an understanding of the way fiction does and does not affect reality, or do you function off of assumptions of how people react to it? It’s a correlative relationship. Not causal, not independent. Correlative.

Fiction can affect how we view things in real life, but cannot forcibly change our opinions or our actions. It’s a form of cultural influence. The effect is more pronounced the less experience you have in that topic and the more prevalent that particular trope/message/philosophy is. This is a big reason why children’s media is held to a higher standard of clearly identifiable messaging— they have very little experience in a lot of areas and are still learning what “normal” entails.

It’s also why, for example, mainstream media constantly showing fictional relationships with power imbalances while never acknowledging their potential for abuse is considered a toxic standard, but depicting a relationship containing power-imbalance without acknowledgement of immorality is not in itself a dangerous trope that should be banned. Context is everything, including both the rest of the work and the outside world (which includes past, present, and future alongside cultural considerations).

One creator or a fraction of any fandom enjoying disturbing/morally objectionable content does not carry the weight to constitute a moral panic. It isn’t enough volume of content to “normalize” anything unless it’s supporting a movement that is both popular and leading to real-life harm.

I am absolutely going to get side-eye for this from what I’ve seen, but from the limited interaction I’ve had with fandom spaces in my adulthood, this whole pro-ship anti-ship thing seems to be based on this fundamental misunderstanding. It likely started as a distaste for disturbing ship content (Eg: incest, pedophilic), then evolved into the belief that engaging with this content meant you were similarly predatory, then started including less and less serious dynamics (Eg: a problem with weird age gaps becoming a problem with all age gaps), finally reaching a state in which personal discomfort with a fictional idea is tantamount to real life harm.

As I said, I’m not deeply involved with fandom. But based on the timeline of fandom history, conservative political trends in my country, and my own personal experience, I’d hazard a guess that this way of thinking is based on many young people (20’s and under) holding onto a very… victimized worldview. It’s hard to describe, but there’s a pervasive theme of scary sexual deviants and moral corruption. An overt fixation on protecting innocent eyes that don’t really exist.

When to Be Worried

A more nuanced test of moral concern that I’d offer is whether or not the anticipated audience would assume that the idea behind a part of fiction is:

1. This idea is a reasonable message or authorial intention to interpret from that work

(eg: it’s reasonable to interpret that in a horror movie where promiscuous characters die as a result of sexual activities but virginal characters survive, promiscuity is considered a negative trait. This interpretation is not reasonable if their killer is framed as a dangerous religious extremist.)

2. The idea is true (or partially true) in reality

(eg: you may not assume all women are unfathomably attracted to you because you’re like the stereotypical “losers” that always get the girl, but you may assume that they owe you a chance if you’re nice to them)

3. Acceptable and normal to have within their own social groups, not necessarily in the mainstream

(eg: it’s completely fine for Romani* people to be portrayed as criminals because no one you know has ever batted an eye about it)

*more commonly called “gypsies” in my experience, but this is considered a slur by the members of the community I’ve seen. I’m clarifying here because I’m legitimately not sure if many people would recognize their actual name, but I’m not opposed to censoring it if it’s preferable.

4. Something that they should actively participate in or facilitate

(eg: making or allowing racist remarks, attempting BDSM techniques without proper communication or research)

Pick Your Battles

There’s also a spectrum of how seriously these trends need to be taken on their own. Here’s a little chart I’ve created for the occasion.

(Note: Do not take every pixel of color on this chart as my infallible, fully-formed belief. I literally made this on my phone with my finger.)

The blue section (the intersection of mainstream belief and zero harm) is of least concern. These are the non-issues. Think of the most unoffensive show you can, and this is that.

The red section (the intersection of immediate real-life harm and mainstream belief) is of highest concern, because these ideas are both dangerous enough to directly cause harm and popular enough to actually incite people to act on them.

Notice that both these colors curve up and around to also include the maximum heights of “unanimous immorality.” This is because some things that harm no one are vehemently despised by the culture they appear in, and some things that everyone theoretically hates can, due to cultural complications or lack of control by the general public, still happen.

The center of the chart is yellow. This is where things get… Complicated. There’s the capacity for harm, but it isn’t necessarily immediate or tangible. There’s variable or split opinions on the morality of the idea. This zone is, in my eyes anyway, the origin of “problematic.”

It Both Is and Is Not That Serious

Oftentimes the things that fall into this category aren’t inherently bad, but their unanimity makes them so. Maybe there’s competing representation or access needs at play, or maybe there’s a complicated web of good and bad elements that are hard to separate from one another. Either way, it’s hard to decide how to handle the situation.

So we just… don’t.

By throwing out the baby with the bath water, we avoid the uncomfortable experience of examining the borders of our social justice while reframing our hasty dismissals as being unarguably good— “unarguably” being the key term. But to actually rectify the problems in our media, we have to ask what the complete dismissal of a work will achieve.

Will total refusal to engage with it in good faith contribute to solving a certain problem? Sometimes it can, particularly if it’s a work made in bad faith that would benefit from your attention. But many times what it actually does is contribute to a very Puritan view of fiction that only allows us to consume “moral” stories, for fear that any slight sign of immorality is infectious and corrupting beyond our control. Recall my point about fiction being unable to directly control our actions, only influence our ideas of “normal.”

Now, that’s not the only reason people can be overly reactionary. There’s a second part that often goes with it.

It feels good to hate something.

This is something that has always been very prevalent in Hoyoverse fandoms. It’s very socially acceptable to hate on games like these since there’s already a lot to rag on genuinely. But when the more actively destructive elements are done to death, this lingering desire for justice manifests in treating yellow-level issues, ones that are multifaceted and/or mostly informed by context, as orange or red level problems. Then the game is trashed for being irredeemable. It’s very convenient for the content cycle and social media algorithms.

I’m now seeing these tendencies replicated by fandoms and individuals on their own time. It isn’t in vogue to have nuanced takes on our media, especially not when it does have distasteful elements. This can be seen when the creator of a work is outed as being an objectively awful person in some way. It’s not just that this person is bad, it’s that their creations are bad, their creative choices somehow communicated their evil nature, and everyone was stupid for not seeing it or supporting the creator’s actions by not publicly declaring that the work was always bad.

There’s a point to be made in cutting financial support to the creator, but it clearly isn’t about that. It just isn’t possible to identify a bad person simply by how disturbing their work is, even less so by its quality. This way of thinking allows many abusive people to skate by on the grounds that “bad people can’t make good art,” as well as making the worrying assertion that “good people can’t make uncomfortable art.”

And if they do make uncomfortable art, the audience will demand to be spoon fed confirmation that no, the creator doesn’t actually support the actions of the antagonist.

Don’t Think, Just Feel: Ending Remarks

Anti-intellectualism has been on the rise for a while. In the USA at least.

It started with jokes about the curtains being blue. About how English teachers are just making things up and art doesn’t really mean anything.

And now we’re here, unable to figure out for ourselves whether or not an author means this thing or the other, and won’t they just confirm it on social media? If they don’t, simply assume the worst. Simply take the text at face value or make arbitrary connections with little textual evidence.

If you got this far, thank you for humoring me. This topic means a lot. You can probably tell that I’m an English major, and I’ve watched as online discourse has taken a nosedive directly into reactionary Puritanism over the course of my life.

I will never forget that day on the Amino (yes, Amino) of my favorite book series when the moderators (likely preteens or teens) banned any discussion of an important canon couple for one reason:

Via a fanon conversion method, it had been determined that the guy was technically an adult and the girl was technically a teenager when they met…

In dragon years.

Dragon years.

Notoriously one-to-one with human years.

There may have been an interview with the author where she went “oh whoops sorry I didn’t mean for it to come out that way,” but I don’t entirely remember. All I know was that they’d declared it immoral and any talk or art of it would be deleted.

And no one said anything about how ridiculous it was!

It’s a pretty stupid story, but that was really the moment in which I saw with full clarity that such a level of moral panic was not based in real problems. It was some amorphous obsession with virtue and control headed by people trapped in an echo chamber they couldn’t see. And now it’s worse.

A bad feeling does not determine morality. Personal distaste does not determine morality. Your own ignorance does not determine morality.

It’s been hard for me in the past few years. Sometimes I feel a little like I’m going crazy when I see people saying blatantly wrong things and refusing to think about what they’re saying. My own education, I will never ever take it for granted I swear on the very concept of God, seems like forbidden knowledge at this point, and it’s… Terrifying. Deeply terrifying. People are so happy for censorship, and I just….

I couldn’t just watch anymore. I couldn’t.

Yes, it was me. I was mostly active on my old account, victoriasugden ( @victoriasugden1 ) I privtated the url victoriasugden, than I moved over here old url peterbeale and then when I left the fandom I changed it to my current url. I didn't really tell anyone apart from a hand full of people I talked to a lot that I was leaving because I didn't think people would care. I'm not special.

I left when Rebecca took Seb and left with Ross - because I thought it was ridiculous to put the boys through all that and then take Seb away after Aaron had come to terms with it. Like what was the point?

Also I've been watching soap since I was a kid - I could see the writing on the wall, the new producer at the time who took over for Iain MacLeod clearly didn't like robron, or at the very least Robert. Sorry can't remember her name. I knew it was going to go downhill from there and I was right so I was very happy I got off that train before it went off the cliff so to speak. I've been casual watching since Ryan left. Can't say I've been too impressed, by far my favourite addition has been Caleb, and that's mostly because I've had a crush on William Ash since I was like 10.

Re Seb. I was never thrilled with the sl - I just tried to make do with what we were given. They got Rebecca pregnant, they had her keep the kid - I wasn't in the writing room, so I just tried to make do. Unlike so many others, when I no longer was willing to do that, instead of kicking off I just quietly left the fandom. And I stand with the like 0.1% of the fandom that shipped Katie/Robert.

It's very funny, cause a couple of days ago I found a copy of TV NOW floating in my room from 2017, it's the Robron wedding edition. Talk about a blast from the past! I really do miss the fandom, not the drama though - but the community. I especially miss how fun it was to live blog! I haven't really joined another fandom since then, I just float around tumblr, giving my opinion and what not.
