To be fair, I think Jade finds his position quite advantageous: if everyone always pays attention to Floyd, he gets to not only act as if he isn’t the same when it comes to being chaotic and dangerous, but also have this element of surprise!

He also doesn’t flirt as obviously and as often as Floyd does, so we can blame Jade’s sneaky ways to collect his bottoms lol

Those are two different asks, but I feel like they are kind of connected because in my head to Jade testing out kinks and using someone as a lab rat are pretty much the same thing lol And to answer both of them: YES, Jade would absolutely do that if he had an opportunity. I guess the second option is more possible because it seems less dangerous, and I wanted to say that it would come first, but…. Honestly? With Jade it could go either way.

He could either start experimenting on Idia and it’d turn out sexual, or he’d start having sex with Idia, but then they’d end up experimenting somehow.

I don’t know what needs to happen for Idia to get stuck with Jade-the-shroom-guru and his tests, but Jade would be very excited. I mentioned it our other Jade/Idia posts, but: he would love to see if some mushrooms would change the colour of his hair or the way it burns. In this way, Idia is the most perfect lab rat ever – it’s so much fun! Not to mention how helpless Idia becomes when he’s drugged up… even more-so than he is usually~

Longass rant ahead because I Am So Normal About This Dude He's Like A Brother To Me

Short answer: he's very hot

Long answer: honestly as it always happens i joked so hard about this guy that without realizing he had become my favorite character from ruina. There's also that I just, tend to resonate a lot w characters who are just Some Guy and he happens to have the feeling of being a secondary character even in the singular cutscene where he shows up (before dying a death that's so pointless and absurd it almost comes off as comical, pour one for my mans 😔✊), there's also the fact that he has this cold and emotionless and professional exterior but his dialogue lines, specially during gameplay segments (as opposed to in cutscenes), show that he actually has a very emotional/caring inner self and he's just suppressing that side of him, either because he feels like he needs to act cold and professional to be taken seriously or just to cope with the nature of the universe he lives in and his job and it's like Yeah Maybe That Hits A Bit Too Close Home, to add to it ruina has this feature akin to like a bestiary (?) of sorts where you can read little blurbs of text implied to have been something each defeated enemy character said/thought at some point of their lives, and ofc Mr. Irrelevant McBackgroundCharacter here has a worldbuilding exposition (as do most of my favorite characters in the game let's be real 😔) but it has this specific cynical tone of him trying to rationalize why things are the way they are while still questioning them/thinking it doesn't fully make sense and it's like you go little guy! keep pondering the concepts of power and freedom and if they're even possible to achieve in your universe without losing your sense of self and therefore not gaining them because the person who achieved them is no longer yourself!

Conclusion this guy was probably engineered in a lab to be appealing to me in particular and I love him so much and he makes me feel way too many things for a guy with like 10 dialogue lines and a worldbuilding exposition.

Some sort of like... industrial/military-esque... goth style? Some sort of mostly practical but still stylish kinda thing, loose fabric that allows for movement, mostly grey, black and cold desaturated tones, straight cuts, lots of pockets when needing to carry lots of stuff (not too many bags as the straps can limit mobility if you carry too many of them + having a bag hanging around gets annoying at times), materials made to last long (and probably some patched up/manually repaired stuff just for that sweet extra durability), probably also with some emphasis on layered clothes as to be prepared for a varied weather (<- delusional, proyecting) and so on, while still keeping it stylish and wearing accesories if/when possible (but not too many of them, after the main focus would be practicality i think), and belts, lots of belts, stereotypical jrpg protagonist levels of belts here, also this guy 100% wears eyeliner to me, just look at his sprite.

idk I don't know about fashion terms so i just described the vibe of how I imagine he usually dresses like.

Out of official artwork, this one, 100%, it gives me the vibe of a guy trying too hard to look edgy and badass and reverting to be absolutely silly without realizing, absolute cringefail loser behavior (affectionate)

Out of fanart... there's like 3 people who make fanart of him me included so I may as well focus on my stuff, it's these 3: first one bc while I still wasn't used to his dessign it manages to convey such a Vibe (him showing the emotional/caring side I mentioned in 1), I don't feel like he's the kind of guy to smile a lot, if ever, so I feel like when he actually smiles it's something extra special for the people around him and I think I managed to convey that in the picture, the second one because the stylization goes hard + I managed to get juuuuust the right amount of spikiness on his hair (very important) and also I like how I made his eyes in there, and third is just what I feel has been my best take on his dessign in general, specially facial features, that is how I Imagine He Looks Like.

I honestly don’t know. I’ll try to be as consistent as I can, but I’m in college so I don’t know when I can post other than whenever I have free time. I’ll complete requests on a sort of “first come, first serve” basis, or at least try my best to, though.

How many requests do you take at a time?

At this point, I’m going to try to keep a maximum of 15 requests at a time. Later on I’ll break it down based on what type of request it is (One shot? Headcanon? Drabble? Etc.).

Do you post anywhere else?

I do not! Tumblr is my only platform right now, so if you see my work anywhere else (I don’t see why you would, but just in case) it is not me. Please tell me so I can take care of it.

Do you give shout outs?

I do! I’ll do it for any kind of writing blog, fandom blog, whatever! By all means, I’m happy to help~

How do I know if requests are open?

My description should say whether or not I’m taking requests at the moment, so check there first! You can ask if you’re still not sure for whatever reason, but please do not send a request if they are closed. I will have to decline and tell you to request at another time.

What are AUs?

AU stands for “Alternate Universe”. So anything that doesn’t necessarily follow canon, but may contain certain elements of canon (depending on the AU) such as the characters or dynamics between characters (though not always). Some examples can include: soulmate! AU, high school/college! AU, fake dating! AU, roommates! AU, medieval! AU, royalty! AU, musician! AU, and many, many more!

What are OCs?

OCs are “original characters”, which are essentially characters that fans create. Often times the creator will insert these OCs into already existing fandoms/universes, sometimes pairing them with a character/characters from that show/movie/book/etc.

What are headcanons/blurbs/drabbles/one shots/etc.?

Alright, so every author will probably define these differently in order to fit their personal preference, so these rules only apply to me!

Headcanons:

Ideas or concepts regarding a character/characters that aren’t specifically stated as fact or a part of canon. These are things that an individual likes to believe to be true about said character(s), that they consider to be a part of their own ‘canon’ in their head. Sometimes headcanons can become widely accepted by the fandom and thus become integrated as a part of the fandom’s interpretation of the character(s).

I’ll typically write these out as bullet point lists in regards to a certain topic, i.e. “headcanon for what it would be like to date [insert character(s)]”.

Blurbs:

A very, very, very short piece of writing. Probably under 100-200 words. Usually based off of a prompt of some sort, e.g. “blurb for reader and [insert character(s)] cooking together”.

Drabbles:

Still typically a shorter piece of writing, probably around 250-500 or so words. Can be based off of a prompt similarly to blurbs.

One Shots:

Pieces of writing that are stand alone fics. Can be any length, but will not have any chapters or additional parts. Sequels/prequels/etc. may be added if I get inspiration for it and you guys want more of this particular work, but I wouldn’t count on it every time.

Series/Multi-Chapter Fic:

As stated by the title, this includes multiple chapters! That means a certain prompt/request/idea/AU/etc. will span multiple parts and become a series. This means a fic will have at least two (2) parts/chapters, but can have as many as I/you want (as long as I have the inspiration for it, again).

Ship/Match Up:

(Keep in mind that these are not yet open, I’ll decide later on if I think I can do these, but I’ll put this here just so you guys know and just in case~)

These are where I would tell you who I think I’d ship you with (platonically, romantically, both, etc.) based on information you give me about yourself and what kind of character you’d prefer (fandom(s) [up to three], gender preference of character [male? Female? Don’t care? etc.]), etc.). You can tell me as much or as little as you want, however, more detailed reasons and responses as to why I would ship you with this character are easier with more information. I can’t really ship you with someone if all I know is that you’re a girl, your favorite color is green, and that you would like to get shipped with someone from Marvel. Personality, looks (not really necessary, but it does help!), preferences, hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc. all help! 10 Favorite Female Characters

Started as a reblog from @lynmars79 , but it has become a “thing” so I’m putting this in its own post to avoid stretching everyone’s dash. There will be spoilers for video games, books, and tv shows; to avoid you’ll want to avoid the blurbs and just enjoy the names and pictures.

10: Ms. Pauling, Team Fortress 2

Ms. Pauling makes the list by being both a fascinating character with her fiction of origin, Team Fortress 2, as well as the game’s first Knight of Cerberus. Introduced as the overworked assistant to the mysterious “Administrator”, Ms Pauling was depicted as a sensible, inexperienced-yet-capable office worker who just happened to be both ethically alright with and quite skilled at disposing of people whom the Administrator decided were more troublesome alive than dead. Even in the insane world of Team Fortress 2, Ms. Pauling stood out as ruthlessly competent and loyal to the shadowy powers that be, easily manipulating people around her and expertly disposing of evidence that would ruin her boss’ plans, all with the intent of rising to the top alongside them. Her starring role in the TF2 comics and the final cinematic short released by the team only served to expand on her nature as one of the most competent and capable characters in a fascinating series.

9: Satya “Symmetra” Vaswani, Overwatch

Overwatch is one of my favorite games right now, and it has a host of awesome ladies, but by far my favorite of them from a story standpoint has to be Symmetra. A brilliant autistic girl and amputee (though we do not know when she lost her left arm, particularily if it was before or after she was recruited), from the slums of futuristic India, Satya was recruited by the mega-corporation known as Vishkar at a young age, and all but raised within the company to become one of their finest hard-light architects. Her upbringing engendered great loyalty in the young woman as she mastered the cutting edge technology developed by Vishkar, and she dreamed of using the technology to create a new world for humanity, one of perfect order where suffering is nothing more than a distant memory. So capable did she become that Vishkar created a special costume and armor so that she could be sent on clandestine missions to uphold Vishkar’s interests and expand its influence in foreign nations. After the events of her first comic however, Satya is questioning if Vishkar’s path is truly the correct one.

Symmetra fascinates me as one of Overwatch’s most complex characters in general, not just the female ones. Her struggles between her loyalty to Vishkar and growing recognition that it may not be the benevolent overlord it is painted as resonate deeply, and I am a sucker for stories of a good person stuck in a bad environment with the potential to grow into a true hero.

8: Veronica Santangelo, Fallout New Vegas

Veronica is a member of the dwindling west coast Brotherhood of Steel by the time she meets Courier Six in the Nevada desert. Spending most of her time outside the Brotherhood’s bunker in order to scavenge for tech and supplies, Veronica is probably the most forward thinking and levelheaded member of the nearly extinct force that was once the most feared in the former southwestern united states. Yet another woman who’s struggle largely is due to conflicting loyalties; the Brotherhood is her family, both in blood and love, but their refusal to grow beyond what they are as they slowly die breaks her heart, as does their refusal to accept her as a lesbian since they feel every brotherhood member’s duty is to breed another generation, since they refuse to recruit outsiders or change any of their failed doctrine. There are no happy endings for Veronica, and that hit me harder than any other companion story in New Vegas. I cared for her in ways I didn’t with the other companions, and she provides a stark reminder that in the wasteland, there are no truly happy endings.

7: Aveline Vallen, Dragon Age 2

Aveline from Dragon Age stands out in the game that features her as the Serious One and probably my favorite version of the “Mom friend” in fiction. After joining the Hawke family in their flight from blight-doomed Fereldan, she essentially adopts the main character as a little sibling that needs to be watched out for. She mutters, complains, and advises Hawke even as she steadfastly marches at his side in full armor, intent on keeping them safe from harm, even after she rises to Captain of the Kirkwall city guard. She is an amazing straight man in nearly every scene, a much needed voice of reason among the companions, and her special companion quest where you get to wingman for her on the most ridiculously poorly thought out date ever is probably among my favorite Dragon Age moments across the entire series.

Also she can become immune to boss phase transition stuns and that is the most badass thing ever.

6: Karrin Murphy, Dresden Files

In a series filled with magic users, monsters, and gods, Karrin Murphy is the badass normal to end all badass normals. Introduced as the reasonable police officer willing to take a risk and hire a Wizard out of the phone book to help with strange cases on the Chicago PD files, throughout the series Karrin shows again and again why the smarter supernatural beings in the universe are wary of humans even as they prey on them. She doesn’t know magic, she doesn’t have super strength, and only occasionally will deign to pick up a magical artifact to lay down an ass kicking, as she prefers human made weapons like her signature p90 submachine gun, sometimes loaded with special ammo depending on what she’s up against. She’s very much a paladin who shines on her own alongside literal holy knights of god in the series, to the point she was scouted by them before turning it down. Her dedication to protecting her friends and the innocents of chicago gives her the strength that other characters need supernatural sources of, and it’s all wrapped up in 5 foot blond package of kickass and dedication to the rule of law.

5: Makoto Niijima, Persona 5

Makoto is definitely my favorite lady from the Persona series, and that’s saying something since the long running rpg series has had some great ones. Makoto stood out to me in the dichotomy with how awkward she is in social situations (typical for a japanese student valedictorian dedicated to their studies) and how effective she is when she has a clear goal put before her. The moment where she joins the Phantom Thieves is a big one for the team, as she quickly realizes that while the protagonist provides leadership, he doesn’t provide strategy, and quickly starts analyzing situations and filling a much needed gap. Her connection to the metaplot is also incredibly strong; as the little sister of the chief prosecutor on the phantom thieves’ case, Makoto gets to struggle not only with her sense of identity but also with familial loyalty, and the game makes a decent case of the idea that, perhaps, she’s the traitor who sold you out. Finally, in a genre that so often uses the “Silk hiding steel” trope, I’d argue that Makoto is Steel hiding Silk, as her intimidating and business like ways cover a softer side around her found family that she will do anything to protect and guide, both as their friend and their student council president.

4: Ashley Williams, Mass Effect.

Ashley is my #1 bioware love interest because I honestly feel like she’s the most three dimensional and believable of them all. A career soldier trying to wipe away an undeserved black mark on her family name, she is dedicated, honorable, and close minded early on, and this sets her up for a fantastic growth arc that ends with her becoming a Spectre second only to Commander Shepard.

Ashley starts off with her main obvious traits being untrusting of aliens and desperate to prove herself as a soldier Earth can be proud of. However, her feelings towards aliens are not simple bigotry, but a belief that they are in fact too human; and thus when the chips are down likely to be happy to sell out humanity to save their own skins (a fear that proves to be well founded come mass effect 3). However, the ability of the player to influence her though process, taking the high road, fighting alongside alien races, Ashley comes around by the 2/3 point of the first game, willing to fight to protect her alien comrades just as hard as she would any human, eventually adopting Paragon Shepard’s view that all life is worthy as she fights at his side. Her absence in mass effect 2 and the rocky step in the friendship/romance that it takes is fully understandable to me; Shepard is wearing Cerberus colors, a terrorist organization that performs terrible experiments on living beings and assassinates politicians that investigate it, and that believable rockiness continues on into the third game when they rejoin to stop the Reapers. She watched Shepard die, only to have them come back filled with Cerberus tech, and even when she accepts that yes, this is indeed actually Commander Shepard, who knows what that tech can do? Finally she is asked to choose between her pragmatism and her faith in Shepard as the hero of the galaxy, and she overcomes it, saving the lives of the council and following Shepard all the way to the end. 

I 100% headcanon a happy ending after the destroy ending because, dammit, Mac Walters cannot take that from me.

3: Maiev Shadowsong, Warcraft

Maiev Shadowsong is absolutely my favorite female character across blizzard franchises, and it’s a damn crime that they didn’t use her more in Legion, though at least they were smart enough to realize that her portrayal in the novels was friggin’ stupid and gloss over them. A driven, harsh jailor of the Kaldorei’s greatest traitors and criminals, chief among them Illidan Stormrage, she goes too far in a believably delicious way as she is antagonized again and again throughout the strategy games. From Tyrande shooting her way through the Watchers to release Illidan, to the loss of so many of her Warden sisters including, let’s be honest, her beloved Naisha, to having to choke down Tyrande’s presence in the reinforcements who come to aid her in capturing Illidan, she is neither hero nor villain but simply a narrative force, dedicated to justice and seething with rage at those who get in her way. No warcraft character gets as many headcanon hours out of my head that she does.

2: Elisa Maza, Gargoyles

Every character on Disney’s Gargoyles was fantastic. Elisa is the best of an amazing group. A detective in New York who stumbles across the titular Gargoyles and becomes their best ally in a strange, new world because she recognizes their nobility, and who with nothing more than a firearm and solid martial arts training of the kind you’d need as a woman in the NYPD, stands by her friends against whatever threat comes at them. She fills the role of guide to the new world, particularily the rules and laws that govern it, source of supplies for her friends who can’t just head down to the store themselves, and as a thorn in the side of every human force seeking to abuse the gargoyles since, unlike them, she is very much a public figure who has the power to Ask Questions that get in the Official Record. Her mixed lineage provides fascinating stories, and her loyalty to those who need her and refusal to back down in the face of danger garners the respect of hero, villian, and viewer alike. She’s featured in nearly every episode, and those that don’t have a lot of her suffer for the loss.

1: Esme “Granny” Weatherwax, Discworld

Granny Weatherwax is the ur-witch. She lives alone in the woods in a strange looking cottage, the villagers for miles around fear her temper, she’s grouchy, eternally single and fine with it, snaps at anyone who says something stupid in her presence (And oh boy does she have a wide and well-defined view of stupidity), and is one of the greatest heroes the Disc has ever known. Not in the Cohen the Barbarian sense, but in the “standing between the bad guys and the little guys” sense. When something threatens the lands under her care, be it treacherous nobles, fair folk, vampires, or anything else foolish enough to disturb her idea of order and calm. it can be sure to have a run in with a Granny Weatherwax who can’t be having with this. It is easy to see that despite her craggy demeanor, she cares deeply for the people who live under her care, serving as a healer, veterinarian, and midwife, and feeling any loss that inevitably comes with the same power as those who suffered it. For all her magic and headology, Granny is just so very human, and that makes what she does even more incredible. The world would be in a better place if we stopped to think once in a while what Granny would say about what we’re doing.

Tagging: You’re all adults. I did enjoy this exercise, so I encourage anyone considering it to go in and do it. We need more celebration of awesome ladies in fiction.

#JackedKirby - A Fan letter from a future Marvel Legend... 💥💥💥 Back in 1963 the Fantastic Four was chugging along at the head of the Marvel line of comics. The flagship title was being commandeered by Jack and Stan towards the top of the sales charts, but not everyone who was reading it was 100% satisfied with the finished product! Case in point a certain letter that was published in #Issue19 from October of 1963. 💥💥💥 The letter totally rips the Dream Team did their inconsistencies in storytelling and filler issues... and it takes particular exceptions with #Issue13 published in April of 1963. It came from the mind of a 16 year old Steve Gerber... the same Steve Gerber who would go onto create Howard the Duck for Marvel in 1973!!! 💥💥💥 The letter isn’t wrong... frankly he hits the nail on the head more then a few times. Even though my opinion of “The Run” (Jack & Stan’s 102 Issue run on the FF) is high there are some clunkers in there... and #Issue14 isn’t their best work! I love his ripping of the cover and all the blurbs... we get it, it’s all so important!!! (See pic 2) I am especially shocked at Gerber ripping the team up of Kirby and Ditko on this book... Ditko inked Kirby’s pencils. I think they are really good, and always like Ditko inking Kirby. See the third pic and make the decision for yourself!!! You also gotta love Stan’s snarky remarks in his response... typical Stanley Lieber laying it on thick!!!! 💥💥💥 The irony here is that when Gerber would eventually get into a legal battle with Marvel over the rights to the character Kirby would step up to help him. They collaborated on a few issues of Destroyer Duck to raise money for Gerber’s “Defense Fund” in battling Marvel!!! Perfect State by Brandon Sanderson

I read very few books in 2016.

I started 2017 having in mind that I should just accept I simply can't find time to read anymore so I set my yearly goal of books read at 12.

Fast Forward to December 31st, 2017 and I'm sitting on a list of 100 books read in a year.

Or so I thought.

Turns out I had double shelved one and I wouldn't have found out if I hadn't been a nerd about it and having made spreadsheets and yadda yadda yadda.

ANYWAY, 100 had become my unofficial goal somewhere around the 9th of December when I was at  83 or 84 books and so naively had told @captaindibbzy that “I might make it to 90.”

Bulldozing through books to make a deadline for fun? Win-win situation. 

So I couldn't let it slip from my hands. But it was also 10pm. I literally only had two hours to start and finish a book. I didn’t wanna do a comic and I didn’t want to do a reread.

And this brought me to "Perfect State".

I must admit, I got into Sanderson after years of hesitation. I had a few false starts with Mistborn in 2014 (as it turned out I wasn't in the mood for it yet) and then started reading the Stormlight Archive because of a piece of artwork I saw on dA. (I'm shallow, suck it :p) That said, Sanderson has, so far, never disappointed me. Everything I have read by him is AMAZING and if I could capitalize that A twice I would have.

So, "Perfect State".

It’s hard to not get pumped for a book whose blurb is: 

God-Emperor Kairominas is lord of all he surveys. He has defeated all foes, has united the entire world beneath his rule, and has mastered the arcane arts. He spends his time sparring with his nemesis, who keeps trying to invade Kai's world. Except for today. Today, Kai has to go on a date. 

My only complaint is that the book wasn't longer. It's a novella, set in a sort of a Matrix world where each person lives in a world p much in their mind and get to be Kings, Rockstars, or whatever they want. They can literally have anything they ever wished for but it comes with something like a level system. Think VR Sims with less killing off your sims for fun xD

So, I don't want to spoil this but do get this if you are looking for a great and fast scifi read. I am honored to have this as my last book for the year!

There are under 100 days to go and everyone has had their feeds flooded with piece-meal information with the road map to Comic Con Africa.

We have learnt that the general access tickets are all but sold out.

As it stands tickets are available via Computicket and are selling out fast!

At the time of writing, it is confirmed that there will NOT be any further ticket releases once the general access tickets are sold out.

We are fairly certain that there will be a few scalpers with tickets at ridiculously inflated process closer to the time – but that would be valuable spending money wasted.

So you probably would have noticed that Comic Con Africa (and all their media partners) are releasing the celebrity guest list in a staggered manner.

So far we know that we will be spending time with Jason Momoa, Rick Worthy & Kevin Sussman with more announcements due in the coming months.

Now sadly we (read as I, as in DarthZadyBun) have noticed a trend of trolling in this regard; which is frankly a little disappointing…

I have read everything from “Oh No. why are they not telling us about all the guests” to “Oh No, I am not going to meet Penny.”

Guys, aside from the legal implications (heard of a non-disclosure agreement bruh?) and the sheer logistic nightmare it must be to co-ordinate the first ever event of it’s kind and ensure compliance and adherance with (and to) the international standards and guidelines governing this event I think the rest of us can afford to take it easy and trust that the organisers have a lot more riding on the event being the very best it can be than we do and wait for the full list.

To those Randela-pinchers who claim that they aren’t sure if the ticket and their attendance is worth their spend, this one is for you:

The ticket price for a day is less than the price of a date for two at the movies right now (Yes – I still pay for the pop-corn combo for my dates because my Mumma raised a gentleman!). I am not able to understand how attending what is going to be a moment in South African Geek History isn’t worth the spend.

Anyway, having met the organising team (and having spent a day with them at their offices – video coming soon btw) I can assure you that they have experience with organising Comic Con Events all over the world and have it under control for South Africa.

I can also tell you that the “official” unofficial statement from the organisers is that the guest list will continue to be released on a fortnightly basis, with announcements becoming more frequent in the run up to the event.

Announcements will also be made as soon as legally possible, so the continued patience of fan is appreciated

I don't know why she's so angry. At first I thought she's a victim of sexual assault by Mr C. But now I don't know after getting that text from him. Also, why is she decked in silk oriental style? What was her title when receiving tapes from Dale?

I don't think she ever had a title But then again I didn't know she was texting with Mr. C. I am just not catching anything in these episodes ha ha I guess I should be making stronger coffee for these viewings

Mr C texted "at the dinner table the conversation is lively" on his burner phone before Tim Roth shot it. Later while Tammy is interviewing Hastings, Diane reads that text on her phone. According to Dom, he said the two texts are slightly different, namely Cooper's text is all caps and Diane's received text is upper/lowercase.

That was Tim Roth? Lol. I give up....

Have you seen Arrival? I'm really looking forward to seeing that, I hear it is a really great intelligent movie. And I believe it has a killer soundtrack. … The same guy who is doing the new Blade Runner [Jóhann Jóhannsson].

I tried to watch it a couple times. Fell asleep. Seems that is my biggest problem with watching TV now, everything puts me to sleep. Maybe that's why I have been going to the theater more. I do remember you were talking about the composer but I don't recall the music. Seems I am just an old stuck in the mud now.

Well, good I'm glad you're getting out some. I cannot seem to justify the price of movie tickets in our days, and I'm sure it's a good five dollars more where you live [in LA]. I only go to a few select films each year, mostly Star Wars — or I should say only Star Wars — and now that I'm living in New Hampshire I want to go see that in IMAX. Viewing "Game of Thrones" might get you back into being more alert and attentive while viewing TV. That is such a magnificent series, I envy the time when you finally get to it with virgin eyes. Will be interesting to see how The Return is packaged for DVD release. I guess they just announced FWWM to be released in the Criterion Collection.

I honestly have not one drop of interest in Game of Thrones You don't have to tell Domi that. Lol. But that's just me. I don't seem to like the big huge popular shows. I couldn't stand "the Sopranos" I don't think they announced it but the Internet has drawn conclusions from some evidence out there that it might be a criterion release at some point. So they must have a big plan to roll out probably a huge box set of the entire series in the movie And yeah I noticed that all of the Twin Peaks episodes expire September 26

Hmmm, curious. Lynch has said it is a long 18-hour movie. I guess that qualifies as a cinematic film release, thus Criterion eligible.

Breaking bad was pretty good for the first two seasons but it got convoluted and turned into just a series of character monologues and was kind of boring kind of picked up at the end Yeah I can see Dom reacting like I do sometimes And that is not to say that I didn't try to watch Game of Thrones or the Sopranos or curb your enthusiasm or homeland. I at least try them out. I just didn't like them.…

I thought BB was better with each progression season. I thought season two was a masterpiece season, and felt each season there after got more intense just like Walter getting more "breaking bad." Very rich character studies all the way around. And Saul is even better than BB. Perhaps it's because it's the only surviving series, but I see it as more mature than Bad.

There is a trend that a lot of shows follow building their main character as an antihero and often for me they go too far. I ended up [hating] Walter White. And I guess that's what they wanted me to do but honestly it made me not like the show That's what they're doing with Diane They have struck the perfect balance with the two Cooper's maybe because there are two of them ha ha Walter White/Diane have absolutely no redeeming qualities that make them a character I am invested in and want to care about

Yeah, there is so much prime TV now that it's perfectly justifiable to not watch every single A+ rated series. There is no harm or foul in not viewing everything. It is enough to find a series that we like and enjoy, and that's the end of it rather than making sure everyone else knows about it and designate as most view TV.

Again I'm an old fart, but I miss the days of three networks and HBO and that was it ha ha You know what makes the Mona Lisa an incredible painting? Because there is only one. Now every network has five hit shows that you must see. Whatever... i'll wait for the next Mona Lisa And this summer is Mona Lisa… Baby Driver. Now that's a reason to see movies in the theater, going to be the best soundtrack since the peak soundtracks came out ha ha

Yes, I read a little blurb recently how baby driver soundtrack is re-creating the soundtrack, Or somesuch. I remember the word remix in the headline.… I also hear the new planet of the apes is very good, how there's a moment that transcends cinema, I think it was some scene where humans are victorious over something while all the apes were watching and stunned at violent human nature. Something like that… It's too bad the movies are relying on tent pole franchise action hero comic book fare. None of that stuff really interests me, case in point: why are they rebooting Spiderman for the fourth time? And now another "The Batman"…. That is the chief reason why I am home bound watching many TV series, mostly dramas, because all the movie talent is going over to TV to tell longer, richer, more in depth and interesting stories than what can be told in a 90–120 minute feature. And cinematic production value has carried over into TV because that's where movie A listers have migrated.

Yeah four out of 10 movies I've seen this summer or comic book based. And on the surface I agree that Spiderman is rebooting again, but now I think maybe we are using that term too much. We didn't say they rebooted James Bond when they changed from Sean Connery to Roger Moore to Timothy Dalton to Pierce Brosnan it was always just James Bond So there's a new Spiderman after but kind of still it's just Spiderman Bond didn't get the reboot moniker until they change the tone completely with the new guy Well we'll see if Tom Hanks finally returns to television ha ha But I ain't holding my breath. Lol More like C & B listers, The A-listers are not going to be on the little screen. Because TV can't afford a $20 million paycheck. Pit, Cruise, Roberts, Pacino, Clooney

Yes, A-list actors may not find their way into TV series as easy but that is definitely changing because there are many A-list people who have found – Spacey, Thornton, Hopkins, and many UK acting talent. Yes, and like comic book serials, new storylines are created after one ends. So a reboot is just another term for a new story being introduced. I would like to see more movie trilogies as a way to counter the glut of TV programming. Which is why I do like Star Wars, because it is a continuing storyline.

So you're saying as well that reboot is a misused term? We have a reboot, we have a remake, we have a sequel, we have a prequel. Twin Peaks was supposed to be a sequel but is really a reboot I found a discussion about all of these terms last year I wish I knew where it was. All four categories have very specific elements that make them what they are There are always exceptions to the rule of course, MASH the TV series was a sequel and a reboot Maybe that's more like what Twin Peaks is

Yes, "reboot" is much overused, if not wrongly used. I believe TR is a sequel, but the media brands it as a reboot. I guess both are correct but technically it is a sequal – it is 25 years later in a continuing storyline.

Now Battlestar Galactica, maybe the greatest fucking television show in the last 20 years, was a 100% reboot and 100% successful and should be the shining example of how to do a reboot well

I'm still working my way through the new Battlestar Galactica. It is very good… maybe we should compile our own list of enjoyable shows etc.
