for several months, since i started watching the owl house, i kept thinking that hooty was kind of familiar, that he reminded me of another character from somewhere.

when i looked it up to see if anyone else felt that way, i learned that hooty’s voice had been a sort of spoof of mickey mouse’s voice. i thought “oh, that makes sense.” but something was still nagigng at my brain that this still didn’t entirely fit or explain it.

and i finally figured it out, after glancing at an enormous poster i have of gypsy (from mst3k): hooty reminds me of gypsy. there’s a lot of parallel there, though the energy is very different.
