We’re still early into Day 2 of Splatfest but I don’t think anything’ll top this performance from me today
#16-0 with half UNASSISTED???#I locked tf in and idk if I can do it again 😭#Splatfest#splatoon 3#team bucket list#I decided to pick Naut back up and I’ve been having so much fun!#well in relative terms matchmaking tries to keep me humble by matching me with top 1000-500 players#Anyway I’ve only won two 10x’s (would’ve been three but Nintendo online crapped itself 🙃)#Still fishing for a 100x/333x but I’m waiting for better stages#my clout is abysmal lmaoooo#But also literally every other match I’m up against X Battle badges of Top players and I’ve NEVER been higher than low S rank

wouldve been nice if present had won but i think it's fitting that i won 3 splatfests in splatoon 3 (one on shiver's team, one on frye's team, one on big man's team). also i lost splatoon 1's final splatfest which set my expectations for future ones low (i was surprised chaos won)
disappointed we didn't at least win tricolor though. like i played in there soooooo much (basically ruler +4 500 worth of just tricolor battles) and i won most of the ones that weren't mirrors. i feel like i actually lost most of the mirrors, which kind of suggested our team was better at tricolor (though, as i learned in splatoon 1, personal experience doesnt mean anything. i won 2/3 to 3/4 of the battles in almost all of those fests and only won 5 of 16)
the important part though is that tricolor was REALLY FUN, and it was on this splatlands bowl especially. like that and the "scorch gorge" tricolor map felt like the best ones, almost like designing a new map specifically for the mode works better than taking an existing stage and trying to adjust it. they shouldve done that for all of them, there were a lot of tricolor stages i had a good time on but some of the later ones were really bad (bluefin...)
and even if this wasn't the best tricolor stage ever on its own, i felt like the music took it there. i already kind of go really hard in tricolor and it felt like rainbow color inkantation was overclocking my brain. made me feel really alive
i dont even mind missing out on potentially getting my first 333x (which wouldve been cool considering i got my first 100x in final fest), i love tricolor so much i'd rather do that instead. idk why they didnt put the multiplier ones in there too though

Hiiii if you're still doing requests, can I ask for dating headcanons for Frye? :O
hello anonymous! i gotchu covered! i love frye sm ! so full of energy!!! i hope you enjoy these :3c
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DATING HEADCANONS FOR FRYE!!!
(thanks zevzevarainai for the gif :3)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay so I'm gonna begin with PILLOW FIGHTS
She loves to pillow fight honestly
Or just play fighting in general
But she will never start any of that unless you want it!
But you two have fun anyhow! Sometimes you cozy up and watch a movie
...But you have to deal with Frye's commentary
Like you can be watching a horror movie, and Frye would just be like
"No- come on!!! There's always death involved if you guys split up! That's Horror 101!"
It's kind of funny actually. It gets a few chortles out of you
She bites, by the way
Sometimes she'll say to new people like
"Oh, don't be shy! I don't bite!"
She bites you in an affectionate way
Just soft noms when you guys cuddle ofc
It always gets your attention, and everytime without fail, she just goes
"hi :3"
She's adorable oh my god
ALSO, SHE WILL TAKE YOU OUT ON BANDITING TRIPS IF YOU WANT TO ACCOMPANY
Frye always calls you the best treasure by the way
It's just a nickname at this point
In case you get jealous of her calling what y'all are stealing "treasure" /j
AND FOR MY FINAL HEADCANON
Well this goes for all of Deep Cut, but mainly Shiver and Frye
She absolutely loves to pamper you if you do well in Splatfests, especially if you're on her team
Like one time, you got a 333x battle win! Lucky you!
When you got back to Splatsville, you immediately got tackled
"YOU WON A 333X FOR ME?! OH MY GOD!!! YOU RULE!!! BEST [boyfriend/girlfriend/partner/any term you want really] EVER!!!!!!"
And she peppers your face with tons of kisses!!!
She didn't even care if anyone was watching, she was pampering you that night
And she treated you out to whatever food you wanted that night.
Yes, even though she had to perform, she still sat down and had dinner with you
She's an adorable bean
Cherish her!!!!!!! Ragh!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED!!!!! Sorry if this one was short and kinda all over the place but RAGHHH I LOVE THESE SILLY SQUIDS AND OCTOPI

No doodles for this one but I really like the photos I took. I did get a bunch of the idols too!
So happy my homie (N) and I finally got lucky and got to, not only play but win a 100x battle.
When I play solo I've won a few 100x and 333x. The past few fests as a duo, we didn't get to play a single 100x or 333x which sucked. Lady luck was on our side this time!
Also a big shout out to the other players on our team. They did great!!

My time at the Grand Fest summarized
So I went to the Grand Fest with my Cohozuna Dad... tbh I've played a couple of matches, I've encountered the first 100x battle I've ever encountered, it was weird since I didn't collect any festival shells yet but also for that 100x battle we lost, HORRIBLY... I then met with @noveloctoling (also I know that Novel's salmonid parents Shallow and Haggy got into the Grand Fest, and basically Jacksley was happy that I happen to bring him to the Grand Fest because Jacksley thought he wouldn't be allowed due to the Big Run) and some other friends, we played a couple of matches with eachother, I congradulated her when she won a 100x battle and reached Ruler Rank (tbh I reached Ruler Rank before Novel before that 100x battle).
Jacksley and I stopped to eat at the food stand that Robo ROM-en set up... I liked the ramen, it was good tasting food... I also met Cain at the stand, along with the former Cohozuna Unit members, Calder, Brook, and Dover... oh and Cove and Caspian was there too (Caspian repeatedly kept saying sorry bc of what he did to the salmonids, he felt some sort of regret) I also forgot I met Cuttlefish and DJ Octavio... I also saw my fellow friends that are agents, Arledge (Captain 3), Faze (Agent 8), and of course that annoying but funny inkling, Jordan (Agent 4)... Also Kai, Jay, and Aenon were performing in the different stages while wearing their usual clothing, and at halftime, they wore their Grand Fest clothing (before halftime started Kai fell asleep on the bus to the Grand Fest and Jay and Aenon woke him up)... halftime made me cry because not only I've got onto the stage after reaching ruler, but Three Wishes made me cry (also the Siren Callers performed their cover of the song)... Of course you usually see me with a stern and emotionless face, but when that song hit me... my tears came coming down, I also encountered my first 333x but unfortunately we lost, but I got emotional when I won my second 100x (I said second because I won my first 100x battle at the Starch Splatfest) basically with my teammates, and we were called the Variety Quartet, also the song that played on the 100x battle that I won was Smeared Canvas, yk the song that plays when you climb the Rocket in Return of the Mammalians story mode, yeah it brings me that moment when I was Neo Agent 3 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon ((this is Teal aka ChainSpike in Splatoon 3, I am still thanking C.Q. Cumber, SaMiAm, and sbrnoe for giving me the 100x win RAHHH THXXXX))
in other words I cannot say... there was so many emotions I brung out as I waved on the stage... even Jacksley was emotional when he saw me on stage bc he was proud of me... I still hated the new Tricolor stage, bc you know, the Big Run, I almost even brung out my True Chaotic Form to destroy that Tricolor stage... i did basically use my weapons I mainly use and also with other weapons, even having myself bring out my old main, the Octobrush, that I rarely even use... As the sun rose, it was all over... I started to break down crying, to the point I had Jacksley hug me... the results came out and Past won... I happen to be happy for Cain, Dover, and all of my friends on Team Past (Cain also broke down crying when he heard the results and came to me, he was so proud to win the Grand Fest)... but yeah... Here's to Splatoon 3, and the memories we made along the way... without the Past, Present, and Future, none of the memories we remember, the moments we have now, and our predictions of what's to come would exist, Time is never-ending, spend it as much as you can... This is Spike "Chain" 'The Great Flame That Shines to All' Kadaver, aka Spike/Chain... thank you... for sticking around...
P.S. I'm not gone, I'll still be here with you all, ask me questions or anything

I'll also never understand why people D/C during a 100x/333x battle
I legitimately had a match where we absolutely dominated 95% of it, they couldn't move, they couldn't push, they were basically being fed to a paper shredder the WHOLE match
But all it took was one wipeout in the last 30 seconds, and they pushed in and won LMAO;;
Like dont ragequit to prevent them from winning: TAKE THOSE POINTS!!!
#SquidRambles#SkysSplatfest#I was so salty about that match too /bricked#But I gotta hand it to them they did get past us eventually#Really the last 30 seconds are all that tend to matter so keep fighting!!

Got my second 100x battle win of the Splatfest! Not exactly Frye’s strongest warrior (that title goes to whoever won a 333x battle last night with a brush meme team), but I am at least glad to have won a 100x battle with one of my more commonly played weapons this time.
Also, a bonus fistbump from sometime after the 100x battle win:
#splatoon#splatoon 3#screenshots#greetings splatfest#handshake vs fistbump vs hug#team fistbump#no 10x battle screenshots for this one as I had no festival shells when this 100x battle encounter got triggered#the team I won the 100x battle with was a strong and fun team to play with

*collapses on the ground* splatfest... is... DONE
This Splatfest went pretty well, I think! I had alot of fun, and I had way less mirror matches! I was worried that the teams weren't going to be very balanced, like alot of the previous splatfests, but things seemed pretty even this time!
I hope all the other teams had fun! It'll be SO GREAT if Team Frye wins, if Team Big man wins instead, that'll be good too! If Shiver wins... then... listen don't take your anger out on the Shiver fans let's all just be nice ok.
I also won a 100x battle for the very first time! ...While... listening to a Two Trucks mashup?? Life sure is mysterious isn't it. Also I thought for the longest time that little symbol that appears over people's names meant they were a "Top 100 player" so imagine my shock when I saw it over my own name...! Ah but then I looked it up, because, of course, there's no fucking way, and it turns out that it just means you won a 100x or 333x LMAO Would've been funny tho...
I lost my very last Tricolour match of the Splatfest pretty badly, which bummed me out. But. Then I was back in the city listening to Daybreaker Anthem. So, I already did listen to the song once before when it leaked, but oh my cod. You NEED to hear this song in game. Listening to this play while walking around the city after the battle is so healing. The vibes are IMMACULATE.
Splatoon can be a frustrating game sometimes, but at the end of the day, it is all, well, a game! Despite some gripes I have, I think Splatoon isvery special, I love the world of it so much, and it is so fun playing it alongside friends.
I don't know how to end this post, so uh, again, I hope everyone had fun! ^^

My thoughts on Tricolor Turf Wars
I'll probably be rambling a lot so here's a 'Keep Reading' for fair warning.
So to preface this, I did not get to play in the second half of the splatfest world premiere. I was busy that Saturday afternoon and the event had ended before I could play again. The only experience I had with tricolor was Team Scissors players complaining about their time with the new mode. Perhaps I was just smug and proud of being on Team Rock, the winning team, but I initially thought they were just salty because they won nothing in the splatfest results despite leading in the halfway report. It wasn't until earlier today that I finally got to experience the mode for myself... twice. I got to play two tricolor matches. I was also busy today as well. But nevertheless I got to experience the mode. My first match was won by Team Grub with Team Gear getting the participation clout. My second match was won by me and my teammate with me securing both of the Ultra Signals. This might seem like bragging, but I will explain why I bring this up in a bit.
Queuing for tricolor is weird. Instead of just queuing to be in a tricolor battle, you basically are put into a separate queue which could potentially bring a tricolor battle. It feels like a 10x/100x/333x battle except instead of being a treat for lucky or successful players and an incentive to give your all during the match, getting a tricolor battle is the thing you are actively hoping for if you are in the queue. I can see why they did this, as some people might just want a normal turf war experience without the weird extra mechanics and pressure tricolor battles adds. But, from my understanding, the winning team doesn't get that option. SO WHY IS IT AN OPTION IN THE FIRST PLACE? Either give everyone the option to queue separately or don't allow anyone to choose.
There really is no matchmaking for Splatoon 3. For those who are unaware, matchmaking is the process in which an online multiplayer game places players together in a match. For more competitive games, such as Splatoon, matchmaking also involves placing players of similar skill levels so they can have fair fights. Obviously, there are ways around this algorithm, such as by creating low-level alt-accounts to get into lower-level lobbies, a process called "Smurfing". Splatoon probably had this issue and Splatoon 2 definitely had this issue. From what I've seen with Splatoon 3, people don't even need to hide behind a smurf account to do this, because even in ranked mode, you could be fighting against S-rank players while in a B-rank lobby. The whole reason I was able to last in Tricolor as a Gear Ruler without getting bodied is because I was fighting alongside a Ruler +5 in the first match and a Ruler +15 in the second. Doesn't that seem odd? A player with 15,000 more splatfest points than me is certainly a far greater and far more dedicated player than I am, and yet they managed to get paired up with me? Now, when it comes to offense, especially with the sloshing machine, I can hold my own, but I won't complain when I'm given someone who has the skill of three players combined as my teammate.
The Ultra Signal is weird. How long do you need to hold it for exactly? In my first battle, I held it for a good 2 seconds before I got splatted by someone. My teammate and the members of Team Grub kinda just threw themselves at it for a good bit. Then, my teammate managed to hold it for about the same time as I did, and they secured it. So, is it two seconds to activate it or is it three? Does the time your team holds it for add up, or does the signal's timer reset after it is dropped? I'm not sure, but I'll just say you have to hold it for three seconds and leave it at that.
The Sprinkler of Doom feels like it could do more. For my first time seeing it, I just kind of stopped for a bit and looked at it. It certainly does its job as basically just a larger version of the sprinkler sub, but it isn't helpful for much else. I saw a roller from Team Fun just kinda roll on through its range without a scratch. After dispatching the roller, I turned around and saw that the green ink was replace with purple ink, so the sprinkler did its job. Yet, I felt like to Team Fun the sprinkler was more of an annoyance than a threat. A giant sprinkler doesn't exactly work as area denial more just automatic turf painting. But, I kind of expect a thing called the Sprinkler of Doom to pose some sort of actual threat. What would motivate the winning team to do a better job of defending the Ultra Signal, a slow painting sprinkler or something like a turret that fires a slow, but steady stream of tentamissles or a giant rotating ink wall?
There seem to be two strategies to securing the Ultra Signal. One is to try and wipe out the defending team before moving in, either you or your teammate can move in while the other covers you. Crab Tank is really good for providing covering and suppressing fire. The other strategy is much more risky, as it pretty much involves hoping your enemy is bad at tracking movements and that your have plenty of special power up on your gear. I would suggest any special that is particularly distracting. For this, I used booyah bomb to clear a path to the signal while also forcing the defending team to back off. While the burst of ink expanded, I rushed to the center to try and secure the signal. I speculate specials like a well-aimed tentamissles or a well-timed reefslider may work as well.
But yeah, that was it. I'm not sure how to close this so...
GG Team Grub and Team Fun and can we get Shiver to 3-0-0 for next splatfest?
