Fashion

I like fashion. I like to choose my outfit according to my mood or where I'm going. And I like to show my colours, if you like. In short, it feels good to look good.

Food

There's no particular cuisine I like, but for me a good meal is a kind of tool to reduce stress and feel happier. It doesn't matter what kind of food it is - if it's good, I enjoy it, whether it's tacos or sushi. I really like pasta. When I'm in Italy that's what I usually eat. But it's important for me, wherever we go, to find a good restaurant so I can enjoy the food. Because in a way, as strange as it may sound, it gives me the same feeling as driving a Formula 1 car. When I drive, I just concentrate on that. It's not that I don't think - of course I do, especially during the race - but when it comes to driving, it's more about the senses than thoughts. When I'm driving I don't think about anything else. And it's almost the same with food. You just enjoy the taste and flavour - and I really like that!

Nature

We travel a lot and are surrounded by electronics and computers, Laptops, telemetry, data is our world - and sometimes it's just too much. So I like to get away from it all, to go hiking, for example, or just get out into nature and experience a different environment to Formula 1.

Jason Statham

Definitely my favourite actor, especially after meeting him in Abu Dhabi last year. I've always liked his films and Transporter is my favourite - but sometimes when you meet your hero and get to know the person better, you can be disappointed, can't you? It wasn't like that with Jason. He is such a great guy, really nice, talkative, very respectful and really, really strong! He's got everything you need. He's strong, he looks cool, he's bald. I might go bald in the future to look more like him...

Singing

I'm not the one who sings in the shower, but I do sing in the car. I just feel like it, to feel the rhythm, to have fun. And when I'm singing, I feel like a real singer.

Saunas

It's something I like to use to reset. 20 minutes in the sauna, then a cold shower and lying down - at that moment I feel like I'm in space. And it is an incredible feeling. It feels like your body is resetting itself. It feels like all the stress I have, it just comes out with the sweat, so after the sauna I feel fresh. Like a brand new me. It's funny, I didn't really like it before, but my friends kept telling me how great it was. So one day I just decided to give it another try and finally understood what they were talking about. Now it's one of my favourite things to do: just go to the sauna and relax.

Coffee

I have a good coffee machine at home. I like to grind coffee beans in the morning and make myself a good cup of coffee. Good coffee makes my day.

Wine

I don't drink alcohol very often, to be honest. And I'm not a guy who knows a lot about wine, about different types and varieties of wine. I'm not an expert, if you like. But it's nice to have a glass of wine with good food. It helps you enjoy it even more

Apex Legends

I used to play a lot more when I moved to Europe from Japan - and Apex Legends was my favourite game. I don't play as much now, but during my junior career it was a way to keep in touch with my friends in Japan because we were so far apart. Of course you can call and chat, but doing something together, playing and talking at the same time, is a lot more fun.

Football

I sometimes play football with the mechanics, engineers and other guys from the team in Faenza. And I love it. Because first of all I like the game itself, but then it's also good to hang out with the guys from the team - especially considering that it's usually the guys who don't go to races and stay at the factory, so it's also a good opportunity to bond with them.

🍵 Interestingly I have two friends with moon in 9th house but they don’t act the same. One of them has virgo moon in 9th house at 15 degrees (gemini degree), and the other has gemini moon in 9th house at 19 degrees (libra degree). Both moon signs are in mutable signs and house(while the degrees are different), but I feel the degrees slightly change the way they process and interpret information. The one with the gemini degree in her moon in 9th tend to be a bit “scattered” and have random unusual but creative and funny ideas, whereas my friend with libra degree in her moon in 9th seems to be more calm and just going with the flow with her thinking and balanced with her side and processing what others are saying to add to it. Since libra degree is cardinal energy, so her process of thinking is more direct.

It could also be becuz the two moon signs are inherently different in their process since virgo moon is more practical but also tries to retain and have a lot going thru their head, while gemini moon’s brains easily access and connect a lot of things in their head at that moment or just intuitively/ gemini moons thinkings are less filled with overthinking as they are not focused on the effects but the "possibilities".

I read your review of Poor Things and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the section in Alexandria? It was horrifically executed on many levels but narratively, that part of the film is about Bella learning about class structure. She rebels against the cruelty of society through charity then by working as a prostitute, during which time she has cruelty inflicted upon her instead. Finally, she realizes that God’s creation of her was ultimately cruel, and then she runs away with her ex-husband-father only to realize that her prior self-mother was fundamentally characterized by cruelty, especially to her “lessers.” She then decides once again that she does not want to be cruel, but then she achieves this by taking God’s place as the doctor-patriarch and ruling his household with a new pet goat. The entire film is also about Bella learning about feminism: the arbitrary oppression of women is not only nonsensical, it’s bad! But then the ending has her reproduce almost all those power structures and cruelty she claims to reject, and has the unfortunate consequence of positioning her as ultimately equally cruel/callous as God, the guy she meets on the boat who shows her all the starving people, and her former self-mother, etc. I was wondering if you had any thoughts on why this is or like, what the director’s message was beyond self-contradiction and taking cheap shots at starving people?

so i would quibble a bit with the idea that bella's experience in the maison-close is exclusively or even primarily portraying sex-for-pay as a site of cruelty. i think it's more depicting paid sex as work, and work as unpleasant and repressive, and that's why the maison is the site where bella gets involved in socialist politics—if moral philosophy is the arena by which she responds to the injustice of the poverty in alexandria, then labour politics plays the analogous role where the maison is concerned. her problems there aren't inherently with the idea of being paid for sex, but with specific elements of the work arrangement (eg, she suggests that the women should choose their clients, rather than vice versa). ofc she has some customers who are cruel or thoughtless or rude, but i didn't read the film as suggesting that was universal to sex work, and the effect of the position is more to demystify sex, for bella, than to convert it into being purely a site of trauma or misery. now i don't think this film offers a particularly blistering or deep analysis of sex work or socialism or wage labour, dgmw, but i do think the function of the maison is different narratively to that of the alexandria section.

anyway to answer your actual question: yeah so this is really my central gripe with the film. lanthimos (slash his screenwriter tony mcnamara) spends much of the film gesturing toward bella's growing awareness of several hierarchical structures that other characters take for granted: the uneven nature of the parent/child relationship (god took her body and created her without asking); class stratification (alexandria); the 'civilisation' of individuals and societies via education and bio-alteration (bella's talk about 'improving' herself; her 'progression' from essentially a pleasure-seeking child to an educated and 'articulate' adult). these three dimensions often overlap (eg, the conflation of 'childishness' with lack of education with inability to behave in 'high society'), though, most overtly, it's in that third one that we can see how these notions of improvement and biological melioration speak to discourses about the 'progress' and 'regress' of whole societies and peoples, and voluntarist ideas about how human alteration of biology (namely, our own) might produce people, and therefore societies, that are better or worse on some metric: beauty, fitness, intelligence, morality, longevity, &c. this is why i keep saying that like.... this film is about eugenics djkdjsk.

the issue with the alexandria section to me is, first, it's like 2 minutes (processed in the hollywood yellow filter) where the abject poverty of other people is a life lesson for bella. we're not asking any questions like, how is that poverty produced, and might it have anything to do with the ship bella is on or the fantastical lisbon she left or the comparative wealth of paris and london...? secondly, everything that the film thinks it's doing for the entire runtime by having bella grapple with learning about cruelty, and misery, and the kinds of received social truths that lanthimos is able to problematise through her eyes because she's literally tabula rasa—all of that is just so negated by having an ending in which she bio-engineers her shitty ex-husband, played as a triumphant moment. i don't even inherently have an issue with the actual plot point; certainly she has motive, and narratively it could have worked if it were framed as what it is: bella ascending to the powerful position in the oppressive system that created her, and using her status to enact cruelty against someone who 'deserves' it—ie, leveraging her class and race within the existing social forms rather than continuing to question or challenge them. if that ending were played as a tragedy, or a bleak satire, it would at least be making A Point. but it's not even, because it's just framed as deserved comeuppance for this guy we were introduced to in the 11th hour as a scumbag, so it's psychologically beneficial for bella actually to do the sci-fi surgery to him that literally reduces him to what's framed as a lower life form. unserious

FURTHER DETAILS: Because of my obsession of sticking with Canon, I try to make the cards following their grades, for example if it's a School Uniform I'd default to make it an R card and R's don't have proper artistic backgrounds, only the patterned ones. If you do want to have a card that doesn't follow the grade system (eg. R card with a background, SR PE or School Uniform etc.) PLEASE let me know and emphasize that that's what you want.

R cards and SR cards go to the knees if they stand straight up, otherwise it depends on the pose you draw them in. SSR I'll try to fit the whole body in so keep in mind how you want your OC to look in your card. If you want a pose make sure to draw them in a pose, I'm not a miracle worker or an artist, I'm an inexperienced editor doing this for fun lol.

in line w your post about Insta caption; your headcanon about how each Bella uses emoji, what they post on social media and how they'd caption everything?

word count is 1,5k for this one who's surprised??? you genuinely cannot send me an ask and not get answer longer than the fics that i write sigh i kind of went off the rails a bit and forgot about the “how they’d caption everything” part of the question, but here’s a detailed rant of how each of them texts and uses social media:

Chloe: where do i even begin? i feel like she has auto-caps on and uses a shit ton of emojis, but for their actual purpose instead of ironically. she does not send a single text without At Least two hearts, and is definitely not a dry texter by any means. also, according to everyone she has ever been in contact with, she has a habit of sending ten texts in a row instead of just writing everything into one message, which is denied within four seconds of it being brought up. (“but it’s easier to read separate, short messages!” “it’s just how i would talk in real life, you know!”) she has two accounts on instagram, one which is public and one which is private. on the public one she posts aesthetically and has a theme which she strictly follows. the posts are mostly about cute animals she takes care of, or major events. private on the other hand? it basically contains her Entire life – all ups and downs included – and a shit ton of random pictures of Beca. it’s only followed by the Bellas and some of her closest family. twitter, facebook and tiktok (which she would never admit to having) are on a different level. what that implies is very much up for interpretation. she’s one of those pinterest users, and has a board for Everything. has regular meetups with Aubrey when they just gush over their pinterest feeds, dream weddings, etc. (whatever it is that those people do idk)

Aubrey: perfect grammar and punctuation, one emoji per message. a facebook mom, if you will. she gets teased for it endlessly but her response is always something like “why would i use texting for anything other than it’s purpose of informing others?”

if you bring up social media in her presence, she will scowl at you and let you believe that she absolutely despises every form of online contacting. however, she will go back home and sit on Her Armchair with a glass of fucking expensive red wine and go through every single one of your social media accounts from tumblr to linkedin (stalker much?). not that she posts anywhere, except for twitter where she just lets hell loose every once in a blue moon. she does have an instagram account as well though, but just for liking other peoples posts as she claims if someone happens to ask (despite her story always having at least twenty random pictures at any given time of the day)

Amy: … she’s, well, Amy. she texts with full caps or no caps, always with at least five typos even if it’s just two words. it’s Something, how she manages to do that every single time. she’s a tiktok emoji trend user (eg. skull for laughing) which confuses others (read: Aubrey, who isn’t on tiktok) a lot.

her social media is full of memes, random selfies, “inspirational” quotes that are more or less insane, and pictures of food. she, for some reason, went viral on tiktok and has like two million followers. (nobody knows why, which is probably for the better.) on twitter, she mostly just retweets crazy shit and thirsts over celebrities Very openly. then there’s reddit… yeah,, there’s reddit. she doesn’t really use other socials, but does have accounts literally everywhere.

Stacie: as i said in the post that inspired this ask, she texts like Alexis (her actress) writes her instagram captions. so basically just a lot of dragged out words, a bunch of emojis and abbreviations and that stuff. i don’t know to describe it, so. take that as you will. im not sure how many of you follow her anyway .

our girl is for sure, without a doubt, a tiktok thirst trapper. she does it unintentionally at first, but when she goes viral she starts doing it for fun (almost like a hobby). her comments used to be flooded by creepy men, but once she put the bi flag in her bio they seemingly disappeared and were replaced by the army of “#wlw? we won” people. Aubrey’s not too happy about her posting herself like that, but she thinks it’s whatever as long as Stacie runs every video through her (not in a controlling way. she’s just also one of those lesbians who drool over her.) Stacie’s instagram is also kinda similar, but with pictures instead of videos. they’re subtle and barely revealing for the most part, but she looks good in literally anything so she has a lot of followers anyway. that’s where her social media use ends, save for the private twitter account that she uses to bully the rest of the Bellas.

Beca: she texts in all lowercase, but decent grammar anyways. she’s not exactly big on emojis, but slips them in every few messages (she’s a chronic frowning emoji user, that’s for sure). i don’t know how else to describe her texting?? she usually doesn’t even reply with other than half a sentence or a barely coherent abbreviation

she’s famous, so her socials are mostly “official” and really, Really lack personality. naturally, she has private accounts which her closest circle of people follow. she doesn’t post though, mainly just replies to other people. (well, maybe she accidentally clicks post on random memes sometimes, but you really don’t need to know that.) Batshit Crazy Reddit User™ and will use it as a reliable source for anything. you can also find her at 3am doomscrolling on twitter.

Emily: oh god. she texts like she just got a phone and is generally as awkward as when talking. kinda like Chloe, she’ll send a thousand texts in a row in the same way she stumbles over her words irl. she spams people with only emojis, and doesn’t Make Sense most of the time. but she’s Emily, so they let it slide.

she’s not that big on social media (follower wise) but active? hell yes. she posts something every. single. day. whether its a mirror selfie or a cute flower she saw on her way to yoga (she does yoga. yeah. i know. crazy.) you can pretty much imagine Hailee’s insta up until like 2020 but double the amount of posts. there’s never too much filters or hashtags for her, and she unfortunately did not grow out of the 2013(-ish) filter phase. she unironically uses facebook and watches instagram reels, and nobody bats an eye anymore when she giggles and sends a link to a puppy video from the deep dark archives of facebook. any other form of social media she stays away from, especially twitter (she has an account but zero posts or replies). she does learn pinterest from Chloe at some point, so that becomes a big thing for her eventually though.

Cynthia Rose: she texts in the closest way to normal possible. she uses auto-caps, a decent amount of emojis that actually make sense, and abbreviations that everyone can understand. but she does have a middle-aged man edge to it sometimes. she’s an influencer. not that kind of “grwm to go shopping” one, but she fights for rights, talks about representation, and brings out the voices of minorities. she runs campaigns, interviews people, and activist type of stuff. it’s a good thing and she’s happy about what she does (even if she does spend all day everyday working for it despite doing it for free). but, sticking to the running theme, she has a private twitter account. her header is a lesbian quote with two pairs of scissors, and her posts are just plain Insane. she mostly uses it to bully Beca for literally no reason at all. 

Flo: texts like a wine aunt. that’s it. there’s no other way i can describe it.

she has an instagram for her juice truck, and it has a bunch of followers all around the world who are interested in watching her move from one place to another. she also posts tutorials how to make her juices at home (especially during the pandemic), and she’s basically sponsored by a million companies just because she gave them recipes lol. on her personal account, she’s also kind of an influencer too. she mostly posts about fashion and food, maybe sometimes stray cats that walk up to her on the streets when she’s going around with her truck. she’s not really famous famous, but has like 30k followers. i feel like i’m just gonna say the same for them all, but she also has a priv twitter account for the sole purpose of including herself in the crazy ass threads where all of the other Bellas are just, going mental. she’s also a pinterest / aesthetic moodboard tumblr girly methinks.

Nope, we use basically the English sentence's literal translation*. Despite there are times in which things can be modified a bit depending on the context and sentence structure... but the verb used is always the auxiliary "to be" = essere (as in English, something is beautiful). "Fare" (= to do/make) isn't involved here. Let's start easy, basically with your example. *[disclaimer: tbh in Italian we have 2 translations for "beautiful" as it could either be bello or bellissimo, but tbh bellissimo is a bit more beautiful than bello -pls refer to this "superlative" post- so bello could be considered as "nice/cool/admirable".]

If someone is showing you something, like a kid is showing you their drawing, you could say "è bellissimo!" = (it/that) is amazing! (the subject, that the kid is holding or anyone else is pointing out to you, can be left implied). Ofc, we're using the masculine singular "bellissimo" because the subject, the drawing, in Italian is a masculine singular noun (=il disegno). You always need to conjugate the adjective according on the gender/number of the noun/thing you're referring to. eg. *you're looking at a bunch of pictures = le fotografie, feminine plural noun*: "(sono) bellissime!" The verb to be (sono) could be left implied here: it works as in the English "Amazing!", "Beautiful!", so the verb is not strictly necessary, but it adds stress ig (could be me though LOL - Italian at times is a personal experience).

Sometimes though, we may add the subject as well as a stressor, so you could tell to the kid: "Che disegno bellissimo!!" (What an amazing drawing!!) Or, eg. if you're in an art gallery looking at a painting you find amazing, you could either say "Bellissimo!" (Amazing) or "Che quadro bellissimo!" (What an amazing painting!) -> You could add a stress on your surprise by adding the stressor "ma" in the beginning of your sentence "Ma è bellissimo!" (in this case the verb to be needs to be there, generally-let's not add too much here. For now, use the verb as it helps you with conjugations, you'll move forward when you're ready^^).

You can also add a bit more of stress on the surprise/exclamation feeling you are experiencing (like eg. being gifted something or seeing/experiencing something; you could tell this to the kid too, despite as mentioned bellissimo is a bit more than bello and you cannot say "che bellissimo") by saying: - Che bello! [if it's a painting/drawing = quadro/disegno. These are masculine singular nouns so you need to use the masculine singular adjective "bello". Same goes for any other masculine noun as eg. panorama = landscape.... This masculine form works also as a general adverb for random experiencing like eg. you're riding a horse, you could say "Che bello!!" cause you're having fun] - Che bella! [if it's a picture = foto. This is a feminine singular noun and you need to use the feminine singular adjective "bella". Same goes for any other feminine noun as eg. pianta = plant...) -> "Che" here works as an exclamative adjective (LINK); it's basicaly the "that" you used in the begining of your sentence. -> To add even more stress, you could add here to a "ma" in the beginning eg. "Ma che bello/a!!" -> Yes, again beware: you need to choose between "Che bello!" or "(è) bellissimo!". No mixing allowed! ;)

Remember these too are adjectives so they need to be in the same gender/number of the thing/noun they refer to. This way, you don't have to add what they are (despite you could, to stress you're talking specifically about it). E.g. che belle foto ! = such/ these are nice pictures!

okay so it's set in like 1920s america somewhere, during the prohibition when speakeasies were a big thing and rodolphus and antonin (who literally no one but me care about as a pairing but here we are) run rival speakeasies nearby to each other

and the fic starts when there's some sort of issue w the police or supplies or something so the two of them have to merge their speakeasies into one!! and everyone is all mashed together... and it's mostly centred on the flapper girls but there are some side bits eg. the rodolhov rivals to unwilling allies to lovers(??) arc

for the flapper girls my main thoughts were - rita and bella as like slightly older flapper girls, both from rodo's speakeasy, kinda seasoned experts in the field like they know what they're doing and have their shit together as much as quillkiller can ever have their shit together... i also think andy and cissy are there bc its a sorta black sisters run away from home vibe, and there'll be tedromeda (maybe bartender ted??) and either lucissa (bc i've been on a kick recently) or nobleflower bc they're my babies... also zabini is gonna be there i think maybe as a singer?? not entirely sure

but anyway then there's the newer generation of flappers which is where shit gets a bit messy so there's lily who's literally just arrived, and then mary, dorcas, pandora, marlene and emmeline and they are literally just wreaking havoc left right and centre like they've all slept w each other at least once, literally in every combination you can think of, half of them are dating but which ones changes literally each week and they are just constantly having drama, also bc they've come from the rival speakeasies so there's that little kinda enmity near the beginning that just heightens all the different relationships

and they are giving quillkiller the Biggest headaches like they're so over all of it and they're being so high and mighty about how they've got their relationship sorted and the other older ones are just like ?? bc they were all there when the two of them were getting together and it was Awful

anyway i think they maybe eventually settle down into this big polycule of the six of them?? not completely sure about all the different dynamics yet but also there's pianist reg i think, and barty and ev bartenders/nuisances and there'll be various other things going on on the side-lines

i think when i start writing this properly i might do it in like little bits and pieces of scenes rather than all ordered nicely like a 'proper' fic bc tbh there isn't actually all that much plot, they're just gay lmao

What are you enjoying about the show so far?

Lots of stuff honestly! That post makes me sound bitter or something but I am for the most part loving the show thusfar:

I actually quite like the new scenes that aren't adapted from the game. It's interesting to see new content and when I don't have any thing to directly compare against I'm less likely to find it lacking. For eg I liked all the Joel+Ellie scenes in ep 3.

Loved the cold open for the premier, and the Jakarta scene in ep 2, and the general exploration of what the outbreak was like, since in the games it's mostly a backdrop

I love all the little easter eggs to the game/gameplay lmao I'm always Leo Pointing Meme when it's like, Joel boosting Tess up over a ledge or Ellie and the Mortal Kombat game (RIP Angel Knives...) or even Tess wrapping her foot with duct tape or the window at the end of ep 3 (!!!)

I think the show has been well cast so far. (My beef with Tess is not a beef with Anna Torv as Tess.) It took me about two eps to settle into Bella Ramsey as Ellie but I like them now. Pedro Pascal by default makes me fonder of Joel, lmao.

I like going "hehehe... Alberta..." the whole time lmao

There HAVE been some deviations I liked more. I cared about show Sarah much more than I felt for game Sarah, because of the extra time we spent with her. I found Bill pretty annoying in the game lol, and ep 3 a huge step up over the game storyline. (Also did not miss Ellie's fat jokes...)

I'm looking forward to some stuff we know is coming, like the Anna backstory, and more Marlene.

I don't need the show to be a 1:1 recreation, or even be "as good as" the games, or whatever. I just want it to be good TV in its own right, and so far I think it has been. Even my qualms with the changes to Joel and Ellie, like, that's not to say the show can't turn those into meaningful arcs in their own right, it's too early to say. It depends how it all comes together. They don't have to tell the same story for it to still be a good story.

In the end it's likely I will still prefer the games though.

I swear if I start my third rewatch for the third time on episode one again I might just go crazy but also I should probably refresh my memory. My second complete rewatch I skipped season 3 and much of season 1/2 (because at the time 5 was and is my favorite, and also I still haven't seen all of season 14/15 so I was trying to get thru it all so I could see the ending which I clearly did not do anyway.) Idk I think the apocalypse world arc was just really egging me and uh Michael!Dean was supposed to be interesting but I just couldn't get through it. I really loved Jack is the thing, so I was like holding out but after Crowley became extinct I was like.... You killed my favorite character for good... I hate this show. And I do, really, but mostly 12 onward. Despite the occasional great episode. (Wayward Sisters, uhhh fucking Tombstone (I love ghouls and geeky Dean having fun with his family), ...other ones?) But also I've been really wrapped up in the fanon nostalgia of kripkenatural's Americana and I need to experience that properly (I miss Bella), I just have also seen the first three episodes going seventy million times so I don't want to continue from ... I think the last one I watched was bloody Mary, but I don't wanna start in the middle (the first quarter?) So I guess I have to watch episode 1 again.... I do love dead in the water... Wendigo is probably my favorite episode ... After pilot and the end and the benders and play things and the entirety of season 2 ... And faith... Okay I'll start from the beginning. Once more with feeling.

Also I don't remember much about the Kane chronicles (it's been a few years), but I remember glossing over that when it happened. But now looking back WOW that was wild. two love interests? combine them into one (1) person

As for what happens in the imprintee dies, it would be extremely emotionally distressing and painful--as is any death. But there's nothing specific that would happen to the werewolf different from any other loss. They'd be miserable and grieving, and probably would never be the same. The one difference is that wolf packs have telepathic connections, and they aren't in control of them. It's a constant, complete sharing of thoughts with everyone in your pack when you're in wolf form--no privacy. So not only would the affected wolf be suffering, but so would everyone else because they'd be exposed to that mentally. Also, since killing the imprintee of another wolf is against their most sacred law, the two wolves would fight to the death should the law be broken (the one who killed/helped kill them and the one whose imprintee was killed).

And all the other characters love Renesmee! She's adored by the Cullen family and Charlie (I can't remember if Renee knows about Renesmee atm, but she'd also love her), and practically everyone who meets her falls in love with her and adores her. In book 4 they collect a couple dozen other vampires to witness Renesmee aging and serve as witness against the Volturi (vampire royalty who enforce the laws, eg those about immortal vampires and were coming to punish the Cullens), and like all of them just think she's the sweetest thing. The only people who aren't sold are the other wolves. Jacob's unique because he's imprinted on her, and Seth (one of Jacob's pack, he's the fandom's cinnamon roll) has no problem with her or vampires. But Leah (the other person in Jacob's pack, Seth's sister, the only female werewolf currently) is not happy about it, but respects Jacob just enough as her alpha to not fight it. But the other pack, Sam's (Jacob's former pack before he and the others broke off), doesn't really like it at all. They just can't do anything about it without breaking their sacred law, and Sam (the other pack's alpha) has less authority than Jacob, because Jacob's genetically more alpha than him.

As for Charlie (who is the Chief of Police in Forks), he doesn't know the specifics, he just knows that something's up. He saw Bella post transformation, and went "hey how about you don't tell me what's going on" and so they didn't. He's content to know she's safe and happy after confirming she knew everything she was getting herself into from the beginning, and would rather not deal with all the supernatural and just turn a blind eye to that. He's just glad he still has Bella in his life (they were planning to leave forever to protect him), even if he's not the biggest fan of her choice of partner. He also knows there's something up with Jacob (he got naked and shifted in front of him), but has also requested to Not Know Any More About That Thanks.

I think it's funny that you say you know have more twilight knowledge than you ever though you'd have, but there's so so much I'm omitting and not even getting into rn. I am having fun with your lack of knowledge!! I love reciting the story to people :)

this one could be made more complicated by the fact that jasper is significantly chronologically older than esme, but it's not like that factor has ever mattered to her before—she's not chronologically old enough to be edward's mother either, but definitely plays that role in his life.

from carlesme's end, they think of jasper and alice as their children. that simple. there was definitely a journey to get to that place, though, especially when it came to the more emotionally independent/less trusting in that "pitbull rescued from a dogfighting ring" way jasper. [I'm straying into hc-land from here on out but I think it jives with what's in the text.]

from jasper and alice's end... I think alice is much more eager to "play family" since in her mind she's never had another one (eg: she didn't even know her og surname was "brandon" until New Moon), and that she likewise sees them that way very simply. this is in part because she has little to no basis for comparison—what do you mean, human nuclear families don't let their "kids" manage all the investments and fly to paris or vegas on a whim and dress their parents and siblings? surely some of them do!

jasper definitely thought of himself as an in-law for many years, probably decades. I imagine it was a subtle war of attrition on carlesme's (mostly esme's) part to get him to think of himself as an actual part of the family. he was corrected "family, not coven!" a lot at the beginning, and had to mentally correct himself for even longer. but it's been 50 years by the time of canon, and I think he's quietly accepted that these people think of him as a son and while he may not need parents, per se, he does feel familial love for them and that's enough for him. (I personally think jasper and rosalie being "esme's nephew/niece" in the cover story hints at the less-nuclear-but-still-familial relationship there.)

people like to gatekeep jasper out of the family due to a) bella's line about how he was "always on the fringes" and b) the text acknowledging that if it ever comes down to it, he'll choose alice over the rest of them.

but poll the "audience" of edbella and rosemmett, and I think 100% of them would also put their partner first [over the rest of the family] if it really came down to it. the only ones who wouldn't are carlisle and esme, which is the core reason they read as parents to me in a way that even edbella don't. imo the difference between jasper and the others here is just that he's more decisive and experienced when it comes to making tough decisions—he's gonna act first and feel bad later, rather than agonizing over the choice itself as edward or bella would.

also, like.... that whole "he'll choose alice over the rest of them" thing comes from the middle act of Breaking Dawn, a story in which he rather crucially doesn't do that. it's alice who takes the two of them on the run, and they both return at the end, revealing that they never really abandoned the others and have been working to save them all this time. at the end, bella notably refers to him as "more central to the family picture than usual", (or something, I'm paraphrasing) which suggests to me that this experience—in which he has the chance to cut and run with alice and doesn't—has cemented him as part of the family even more.

so yeah tl;dr it's easy to say "jasper doesn't slot easily into the role of Son and is therefore not really part of the family" but ehhhh I think that's actually the more boring reading here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It has been a week since Chloe got the shock of her life after finding Beca’s lips on hers in the middle of her making breakfast without a dare egging her on or anything that implied that it was purely platonic, and Chloe has already been feeling the effects of being Beca’s girlfriend.

Effects, as in, the benefits of being able to show off her over-encompassing affections whenever she likes without being scared of what the Bellas or Beca might think.

Examples include- but are not limited to- Chloe convincing Beca to sit next to her at the back of the bus that the Bellas have to all pile into to make it to Lincoln Center by nightfall. It felt good, Chloe reminisces, to have Beca blush and grumble about how Chloe is very touchy feely while still following behind her to plop into her lap as soon as Chloe made herself comfortable. 

“What?” Beca had said when Chloe raised an eyebrow, “We both like the window seat.”

“Mhm sure,” she had chuckled into the crook of Beca’s neck, “And you could not have possibly asked me to move, could’ve you?”

“No way. That would have been mean.”

And that was how Chloe found herself floating on clouds the entire day, her butt sore from being stuck in her seat but her heart full from being handed the opportunity to chat to Beca about how her arrangements are the best in the world so that she has nothing to worry about and how they only have less than a year left before they have to decide what to do with their futures.

Beca also makes it easy to tease her about random things, so Chloe also found joy in that. They also made out, a little bit, quietly, because Chloe has compassion dang it and she would not want to subject herself to listen to Stacie or anyone else kissing someone else in a bus for the next twelve hours either.

Beca then passed out, at around late afternoon, after lunch. It’s adorable actually how she just nodded off to sleep after engulfing a big sandwich and some water, but Chloe chose not to comment and instead allowed herself to stroke Beca’s dark brown hair, shifting between enjoying the sensation of Beca snuggling against her t-shirt and the beautiful view flitting past her window. 

She could really get used to this, she thought, as Beca made an indecipherable noise into her chest, she could get used to being nice and content for once in her life after all the longing and angst that was her past.

There had been the being the second child that nobody wanted when she was a kid, then the pansexuality in a good Christain family, then the university that didn’t hold a national name, then the girl who could not get who she wanted because she was too insecure, and then the person who had purposely decided to stay a couple extra years in that university because of that insecurity.

God. She holds the warmth in her arms closer. She really was such a wreck.

“What’re you thinking about?”

Chloe meets Beca questioning gaze and realizes that she probably squeezed too hard. “Nothing. Just. Y’know. How I could get used to this.”

Beca gets up, stretches, and then sits back down. She loops her arms around Chloe’s shoulders, tilting her head slightly to the side. “About how you could get used to me drooling on your junk?”

Chloe laughs. Sometimes being with Beca just makes her so happy. “Yeah. That.”

Beca smiles, leaning in to kiss her. It only goes on for a few seconds before Chloe starts feeling the effect.

She slides her hand up Beca’s back, grinning at the shiver that it induces. She swipes her tongue across Beca’s bottom lip and is just about to kiss her deeper when Amy yells from the front of the bus.
