I'm a little late for WIP Wednesday but I haven't knit since Wednesday so it still counts right?
I have absolutely smashed this underarm portion of the back panel, on row 153/160 (95%!!!). However. My goal for the underarm length is 24 inches. And I'm currently at 22. T-T I will Increase My Total (168 will probably work but I'll report back when I have motivation)
I'm already looking ahead to the upper back portion, which will be about 64 rows based on my gauge. Plus a couple more rows for shoulder shaping.... I'm Actually on row 153 out of 238. 64% finished.
I'm usually a Process Knitter but this is very much a Product Knitter's project. I keep daydreaming about all the lace shawls I could be knitting (but never wear). But the Evil Pink Cardigan.... My precious...

I’m seeking a job as a librarian. Do you have any advice on the best cardigans to invest in?
DO WE.
Friend, I polled the folks who appeared in our cardigan video (link goes to a tumblr post) and, this may shock you, but they had Opinions.
Pockets: yea or nay? For me, a must, or I will be constantly trying to put my phone in a nonexistant pocket and then it will be on the floor. Then again, if you're not a social media manager you may not have a phone on you regularly on the job.
Kelley says the desirability of pockets depends on the cardigan - sometimes the rest of your outfit has the pockets you need, or maybe Kelley just travels light/is a sorcerer, idk.
Rachel is also team pocket because of their utility - they make it easy to have your library keys and a writing utensil on you at all times - she has one cardigan that can even fit a whole Kindle in the pocket. For emergencies, presumably.
Sleeves: Rachel advises loose, full-length sleeves because they're easy to roll up when the job calls for it, but still keep you warm otherwise.
Material: Max recommends knit or waffle wool. He didn't say why, but I trust him.
Color: Rachel loves a fun, unique cardigan but says it is valuable to have a cardigan that matches the majority of your wardrobe, especially if it's the emergency cardigan you keep at your desk. Max is in agreement and suggests gray, blue, or green because they go with almost anything you might wear.
Size: Max is partial to oversized sweaters, so a cardigan a couple sizes larger than normal is useful for maximum effect - plus it helps for when the sweater inevitably shrinks in the wash. Rachel suggests considering a longer cardigan, to keep your legs warm too.
The Most Important Factor: This final piece of advice comes from someone quite high up in the library who wanted to remain anonymous. This is the true expert advice and final decision-making factor for any cardigan choice:
The cardigan you are most comfortable in is the best cardigan.
And with that, you are well equipped to achieve the job of your dreams. Good luck!!
(Also, I am CERTAIN other library professionals have opinions on this. Feel free to add!)

Happy Wednesday! Thank you @bookish-bogwitch , @monbons & @thehoneyedhufflepuff for the tags! I'm back on my drawing houses bullshit for COBB. This time it's the front and it's not any easier than the first time. Luckily, it's a gorgeous house so at least it's nice to look at while I agonize over details! Here's a little vignette:
Tumblr media
While we're on WIPs, I've made progress on my cardigan and Tinkerbell dress! I've finally joined the fronts to the back and here's where it starts to get even more fiddly. In addition to the neck trim being knit with the body, the buttonholes are now knit in. I've at least done this before. It's an elegant solution, but it's time consuming. At least, once I finish the sleeves, I'll have a complete sweater! I'll just have to remember to block it
I also started the pattern drafting on one of two Tinkerbell dresses. We're going with another family and their daughter wanted to be Tinkerbell too. I always use the same dress pattern (The Geranium Dress by Made by Rae) as the base and I hack it as needed. The lazy sewist in me really doesn't want to do a muslin. Isn't it enough that I've meticulously labeled each pattern piece?

Terra my love 💚
So many questions about your WIP post it note 😜
(remember the post was actually a WIP ask game, right?)
1. Is the whole story planned with chapter structure etc... or even partly written already?
2. If you already know, how many chapters will there be for this fic?
3. Will they kiss? & more importantly will they fuck? /jk
4. What other SNK characters will appear throughout the fic?
5. May I ask for a sneak peek? (because there was no "WIP it Wednesday" post yesterday 😢)
Could be from the next chapter or another random chapter, I'm so in love with this fic & in love with your writing style & greedy that I'll take any crumbs 🤲 🧎🏻‍♀️
Love you lots & even more 💚
Val! Thanks for sending these questions. I'm always so excited to talk about what I'm working on! I think A Sunrise Without You Is Coming will probably be my longest (and last) fic.
1. Is the whole story planned with chapter structure etc... or even partly written already? The whole fic is planned from start to finish :)
2. If you already know, how many chapters will there be for this fic? I planned 25 chapter outlines originally but ch3 ended up being longer than I thought once I had written it. I had to snip it off part way through. This might happen again so let's guess somewhere between 26 and 30 chapters in total.
3. Will they kiss? & more importantly will they fuck? /jk Honestly, I haven't included anything more than pining and eye fucking in my ch outlines! To give the story an authentic feel, I'm going to feel my way through their relationship as it grows. If the moment seems right, I'll take things to the next level ;)
4. What other SNK characters will appear throughout the fic? Apart from OG Levi Squad, Moblit, Nifa and Nile... you can expect to see Miche, Marlo and Floch very shortly. In future chapters we will also be joined by Hitch, Reiner, Erwin, Zeke, and Kenny.
5. May I ask for a sneak peek? (because there was no "WIP it Wednesday" post yesterday 😢) I have skimped out on the WIP It Wednesdays, huh? Fair's fair. Let's have a sneak peek then:
From ch4: I'll Not Speak A Word Despite a lingering chill and the last vestiges of afternoon light, the folk of Shiganshina were still leisurely browsing the marketplace. At the centre of the military village, where the earth roads converged, stood three avenues of unembellished stalls, each exhibiting their wares.
Levi walked amongst civilians, hesitating as he drew level with a metal rack of women’s clothing. Inconspicuously, he cast his eyes around, before approaching.
Thick woollen cardigans hung amongst long floral-patterned skirts. Levi peeled back a knitted sleeve. Then, with growing impatience, he swept past one garment after another.
“Hello? Are you looking for anything in particular?” asked the proprietor, a woman with dark hair pulled back into a low ponytail. At her intrusion, Levi quickly withdrew his hand.
With a final sweep of the area around them, Levi inclined his head as though he were about to mutter his response. He opened his mouth. He closed it again.
“This is part of our Fall Range…” The woman lifted a yellow button-down shirt, smoothing the material. “You know this is what they’re all wearing on the continent.”
She crooked a finger, beckoning him closer. With an expression of resignation, Levi obliged her.
“...I saw pictures in a Marleyan magazine once,” the proprietor boasted.
Levi nodded, uncomprehending, as the woman seized a peasant skirt to tempt him with next. The pocket of his khaki military coat vibrated. Thankful for the interruption, Levi removed his cell phone.
“I’ll take them all,” Levi indicated the entire rack with his hand. Flipping his phone open, he held the device up to his ear.
“What size is she, sir?”
Levi hesitated again, his palm covering the mouthpiece.
“She’s… tall.” Turning away he answered in a low voice. “Miche?”
Delighted, the woman began bagging the clothes up.
“Levi,” came the Section Commander’s voice on the line, “I still haven’t been able to reach Erwin.”
“Sir, will you be needing underwear?”
The woman slowly pulled back the navy blue cloth which covered the stall, unveiling a low shelf of bras in different colours. Some were frilled and elaborate, others dark and lacy. Some contained padding, wired supports and front clasps. Others were elastic, unfilled or entirely strapless it seemed.
Levi made a small noise in the back of his throat.
“Levi?” came Miche’s voice.
Covering his cell phone once more, Levi glanced at the proprietor.
“I’ll… take all of those too.”
On the other end of the line, Miche gave an impatient sniff.
“Look, whether Erwin’s off having breakfast or the world’s longest shit, this can’t wait,” Levi hissed, “the MPs seized a vehicle of defectors right outside our base. How can he have nothing to say about that?”
“Which size is she, sir?” The woman held up a large, padded bra helpfully.
Levi stared determinedly past her, over to where smoke rose from red brick chimneys.
“...any,” he replied faintly, lips barely moving. He blinked. Cleared his throat.
“You didn’t hear about the traffic incident?” Miche continued, “happened last night on the central road to Mitras.”
“The one where the pedestrian was killed?” Levi turned away from the proprietor who was now tucking numerous bras into another bag. “They found a woman’s body according to a member of my squad.”
“Worse,” Miche countered, “the vehicle that struck her was being driven by two MPs. Skidded right off the road. I’m sorry, Levi. Every one of those defectors was killed.”
(Thanks again for your questions, Val!)

I finally finished my very first top. I took the pattern from an old cardigan of mine and fiddled with it a lot, which was quite frustrating. The fabric is a dyed bedsheet I found in a box on the street, and the only new things are the thread and the petrol accent thingy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What I learned:
- it needs to be longer in the front than everywhere else because of boobs
- no french seams at the shoulders, too bulky
- leave the cuffs longer so you don't need to patch them later
- Einfassband is not great for a v-neck shirt, try either just hemming it, or a traditional Bündchen next
- knitted fabric needs a bigger hem so it lies flat
I'm not gonna be wearing this outside, since it looks very much handmade, and badly made at that. But it is the first shirt I made, and I love it for that. Also, I think the fit is not bad, and I like how long the sleeves are, and the fabric feels nice on my skin, so I'm gonna be wearing it around the house a lot.
Now I'm off to alter the pattern accordingly, and make another, hopefully better-looking shirt so I can wear it outside.

It's almost Fall and I feel like I am finally coming back. I just cast off the hem of my Field Day Cardigan, which was a huge accomplishment. Just two sleeves and four buttons and I am done! The weather has me cuddling up on the couch with my cats and some knitting podcasts much more frequently. I also feel like I am getting a lot of creative energy back. It was a wild summer, so it is such a joy to stop and catch my breath.

🍓 ︴ and sunset. from the open starter from @farspaceapple.
Tumblr media
Again.
One step, two steps.
He'd told her to wait—told her he'd be back in a few minutes. She'd lost count of how often things like this had been happening, but there was little she could do but watch; little she could do but just let him. The sight of his retreating figure had become one she grew too familiar with. Silly races on the playground, chasing him in the halls, and then all those times he'd leave for Skyhaven…
And then now, too.
'Caleb, don't leave me behind…!'
She used to be able to say it so easily.
But seconds turned into minutes, few minutes turned into several minutes. And now after waiting for so long, her fingers played with the sleeve of her cardigan as she finally caught sight of him walking back to her. She stood up from the bench, adjusted her hair. She should act normal, she knew that—she wanted to trust him, wanted to believe that whatever this is, he'd tell her in his own time. But as often as this had been happening as of late, he'd taken longer than usual to get back this time. She didn't stop the way her brows knitted together in concern.
It was true; in the end, he's always come back to her, anyway. But she wondered if there would be another time that he'd have to take longer than he wanted to.
"Is everything okay?" she murmured.
She took tentative steps forward, scanning his figure for any trace of injury, or any trace of distress. She knew she wouldn't find any, but that didn't satisfy her enough. She reached out to brush the collar of his shirt... Something to ground herself—make sure he was real. The light from the gradually setting sun helped, but as pretty as sunsets were, there were certain things she wished wouldn't have to end. Things like peaceful days, peaceful moments with him. Things like him.
"Are you okay? You took really long... I-I was worried something might've happened, and we also might've missed our opening at the planetarium, our ticket said—"
She paused, glanced down at the paper in her hands. "Um, well... We have five minutes before it's our turn to go in? B-but are you— Is everything okay? If you don't want to go anymore, we can just go home, and..."

Finally it's cold enough for this beautiful patchwork jacket
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I thrifted this beautiful patchwork jacket (for 8€!!) at the beginning of summer. Totally the wrong season for it, as it's also lined with warm fleece fabric. But I knew I just had to wait. Winter is always coming. I'm really happy I get to wear it finally!
There's just one thing I'd like to change: this jacket didn't come with draw strings to make the hood tighter. That is a feature that's very useful for windy days, so I can prevent the hood from being blown of my head. I will have to do a quick-fix and add drawstrings myself.
Picture 1: A close-up picture of Amy (me), looking kinda tired. She's a young, fat, white woman with glasses and long brown hair. It was on the way to work early in the morning, so tired is accurate (though I had a good nights sleep! Yay for that!). You can see the cute pointy end of the patchwork jacket hood. It's autumn now, so there are lots of layers: visible is the chunky knit fabric of my short-sleeved cardigan, it's a cosy knit in dark colours (black and red) mixed with some white specks. Also the black scarf with silver trees printed on it shows up a bit at the neck. Otherwise, the colourful patchwork jacket dominates!
Picture 2: A close-up picture of a public bench, with my light purple backpack sitting on it. A pink tote a bag with a white flower print (total with green stems and leaves!) is laying next to the backpack. You can see the trees are slowly changing colour and the first fallen leaves are down on the grass.
Picture 3: A mirrored image of Amy (me). Amy's a young, white, fat woman with long brown hair and glasses. She's wearing black jeans and shoes, but the top is way more colourful: You can see a bright red cardigan peaking out under her patchwork jacket. And the patchwork jacket itself is a riot of colours!! There's vibrant orange, red, purple, green, blue.... and embroidery of leaves, flowers and spirals on top! [/image description]

Happy Wednesday! My arthritis is finally calming down from my normal "the seasons changed and now you must be in pain" flare up so I've been able to put in work on this sleeve. ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ
I've been limiting my amount of rows at one time to 10 ish, taking a couple hours to play a certain video game, then coming back to knit a couple more rows. It's working pretty well for me tbh, tho I keep accidentally ignoring my alarms (esp late at night when i'm gayming... but I'm fine with it this cardigan doesn't have a deadline lmao)
But I'm nearly 70% done with this sleeve!! When I'm finished, I'll cast on for the back which is going to take. Eighty seven years to knit. I've come down on 24 inches for my under the arm length which isn't the longest cardigan but should bring it down to just above my knee, assuming my math is correct for once. I've also decided to have the pocket opening 9 inches from the cast on (or 15 inches from the opening to the pocket to the underarm) which seems like it would be a good place for my hands?
Even if I didn't change the length of this cardigan, I would still be doing math right now to figure out the pocket because it's just. Too small. It's only supposed to be 5 inches deep which isn't enough for anything. (I also need to knit the pocket linings but I'm putting it off because Math.... the yarn I have for them isn't that much thinner than the main yarn but I probably should knit them with a tighter tension)

Autumn Fashion Essentials: What to Wear This Fall
Introduction
It's time to change your attire for the autumn season as the leaves begin to change and the air becomes crisper. Autumn, often referred to as fall in certain places, is a lovely season when nature changes, and so should your wardrobe selections. In this article, we'll look at the autumnal wardrobe necessities that will keep you looking great and feeling cozy as the weather turns chilly.
Tumblr media
Introduction
1. Layering is Key
2. Embrace Autumn Colors
3. Cozy Sweaters
4. Versatile Outerwear
5. Boot Up
6. Denim for Days
7. Hats and Accessories
8. Don't Forget the Dresses
9. Mix and Match
10. The Final Touch: Accessories
11. Sweaters and Cardigans
Trends to Watch
1. Faux Fur
2. Plaid Patterns
3. Oversized Knits
4. Statement Boots
5. Midi Dresses
6. Monochromatic Outfits
1. Layering is Key
The erratic weather is one of the characteristics of fall. It's crucial to layer in order to cope with the unpredictable weather. Start with a thin, long-sleeved base layer, then layer on more as necessary. Think about investing in:
Turtlenecks: These adaptable items can be worn alone for a stylish look or underneath sweaters and blazers.
Cardigans: Fall fashion demands a warm cardigan. Choose neutral hues that go well with other pieces in your outfit.
Scarves: A fashionable scarf not only keeps you warm but also gives your apparel a splash of color.
2. Embrace Autumn Colors
Warm, earthy tones are often associated with the season of autumn. Bring warm browns, rich mustard, deep burgundy, and olive greens into your wardrobe. These colors can be combined to create fashionable outfits and provide a fall-like state of mind.
3. Cozy Sweaters
The key piece of autumnal clothing is a sweater. There is a sweater for every occasion, from heavy knits to lightweight cashmere. For a stylish and comfy look, wrap a soft sweater over a dress or wear it with jeans.
4. Versatile Outerwear
Your autumnal appearance could be made or broken by the apparel you select. Several important factors to take note of are as follows:
Trench Coat: Any appear is made a little more sophisticated by a timeless trench coat.
Denim Jacket: A denim jacket can be worn as a layer over skirts or sweaters and is ideal for informal outings.
Leather Jacket: Choose a leather jacket that can be dressed up or down for a touch of edge.
5. Boot Up
Boots are a must-have for fall attire. They may enhance your fashion while keeping your feet warm and dry, whether you favor ankle boots, knee-high boots, or combat boots. To shield them from autumn showers, don't forget to spray them with a waterproofing agent.
6. Denim for Days
Although jeans are a year-round necessity, the fall is a great time to try out new washes and designs. Think about enhancing your wardrobe with a pair of stylish wide-leg or high-waisted jeans.
7. Hats and Accessories
Accessorize your outfit for fall with dramatic belts, gloves, and hats. On frigid days, a wide-brimmed hat not only adds style but also keeps you warm.
8. Don't Forget the Dresses
Dresses are appropriate even though fall is the best season for layering. Put on tights or leggings with your favorite dresses, and add a jacket or cardigan for added warmth.
9. Mix and Match
Versatility is the key to autumn fashion. Purchase items that may be combined and matched to produce a range of appearances. You can exhibit your unique sense of style while still saving money.
10. The Final Touch: Accessories
Statement necklaces, warm beanies, and a chic tote bag are perfect finishing touches for your fall wardrobe. These minor nuances have a significant effect on how you appear as a whole.
11. Sweaters and Cardigans
Sweaters and cardigans are essential pieces of autumnal attire. These soft knitwear items keep you warm while also giving your look a refined touch. For a fashionable style, choose thick cable-knit sweaters in earthy hues like rust, olive green, and mustard. The many different styles of cardigans make them ideal for layering over a simple shirt or blouse.
Tumblr media
Trends to Watch
Now that we've covered the essentials, let's delve into some exciting autumn fashion trends to inspire your fall wardrobe:
Faux Fur
This fall, faux fur is big on accessories, vests, and coats. They not only keep you warm but also give your outfits a touch of luxury. For more texture, think about lining the collar of your coat with imitation fur or wearing a soft scarf.
Plaid Patterns
Every fall, the classic pattern of plaid reappears. Adding plaid to your wardrobe, whether it be in the form of a jacket, skirt, or scarf, is a certain way to embody the season's vibe.
Oversized Knits
Utilize cardigans and large knit sweaters to combine comfort and fashion. For a casual yet stylish style, these comfortable pieces can be worn with skinny jeans or leggings.
Statement Boots
Elevate your shoe game with boots featuring bold embellishments or unique textures. Snakeskin, crocodile, and patent leather boots are all the rage this season.
Midi Dresses
Midi dresses are versatile and perfect for transitioning from summer to fall. Pair them with ankle boots and a denim jacket for a chic autumn ensemble.
Monochromatic Outfits
Wearing various tones of the same hue will help you look sleek and upscale. Monochromatic outfits are not only trendy but also elongate your silhouette.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, The goal of autumn fashion is to embrace the shifting of the seasons in both comfort and style. You may stroll out with confidence and take in the splendor of fall by adding these autumnal fashion basics to your collection. So dress in layers, experiment with autumnal hues, and enjoy this magical time of year.
Make these staples your go-to picks for fall because "autumn fashion" is all about showcasing the richness of the season in your wardrobe.
You'll look chic in your fall wardrobe whether you're enjoying pumpkin spice lattes at a cafe or taking a leisurely stroll in a park covered in golden leaves.

The Aftermath And A New Beginning
Tumblr media
Trigger warning: child birth, swearing, life after narcissistic abuse, fluff
Summary: Three months after you narcissistically abusive ex is sentenced to life in prison, Joy Grace is born. Andy and you see it as another new beginning.
This is part two to the Narcissistic Ex.
It's been three months after your narcissistically abusive ex Al has been sentenced to prison. He was sentenced to life, and you finally felt free. Andy has been your rock, he's been your saving grace. You are the same for him. You were recovering from your injuries, and you were recovering mentally. You had never talked about your narcissistically abusive ex until you told Andy about what he had done to you, and the hell he put you through. Andy encouraged you to go see a therapist after what happened, and you were making excellent progress.
The baby was okay, she wasn't even injured. The hospital had put the NICU on alert as a just-in-case, but it turns out it wasn't needed. The hospital was only following protocol. Your ex Steve, was praying every day that you were okay. Andy refused to leave your side that night, and refused to leave your side the next day. Andy's boss told him that he had to take the week off, and told him to get some rest. Andy also saw a therapist, he wanted to talk about what happened that night, and he never talked about what happened to his ex-wife and to his son all those years ago.
Your therapist used to be the drummer for a hair metal band back in the '80's and she was also a knitter and crocheter like you. Like you, and like everyone else, she had moved on with her life, and spent the '90's and the early 2000's getting her Ph.D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your 40 weeks pregnant, and are getting everything prepared for Joy Grace's birth. Andy had built the crib and the changing table. Your baby shower was an amazing affair held at a local Italian restaurant, and it was a nice afternoon. You got onesies, clothes, little shoes, bibs, pacifiers, bottles, nipples, diapers, and various other baby items, including dresses. You even made your baby girl a sweater and some booties. You wore a simple lavender maternity dress with a purple cardigan that you knitted last year. You also wore simple pearl studs with a simple single pearl necklace that had a small diamond above it on a gold chain, and simple pearl studs with a diamond stud in your second whole. You also wore your gold necklace with your initial that you wore everyday since you were in your teens. The pearl necklace sat above it. You had simple gold ballet flats on your feet.
You and Andy already had the infant seat in the car, you had your hospital bag packed, you had the nursery set up. The theme was a nice, simple spring theme, since Joy Grace would be born close to the spring. The nursery was painted, the furniture was chosen, the nursery's armchair and rocking chair were ordered and was already in the nursery. You and Andy also chose the spring theme to symbolize this new beginning.
Andy was putting up the curtains, and you were busy folding some onesies and placing them in the dresser. The furniture was white, and went perfectly with the nursery's theme. You even had a little bookshelf with several books, one of them being a book of nursery rhymes from when you were a baby, and the other one being a a book of Beatrix Potter stories from when you were a baby.
There were stuffed animals on the shelves, too. There was a few stuffed bunnies, a few stuffed lambs, a few stuffed ducks, and a stuffed bear. You had the knitted blanket in the hospital bag, and a crocheted blanket in the crib. You even had a matching sweater and matching booties in the hospital bag.
You were sitting in the armchair, with Andy kneeling in front of you. His face was on you bump, and he was even kissing your bump periodically.
"I love you, Joy Grace. I can't wait to meet you," says Andy.
You tear up at Andy, knowing that Andy means every word of this. Andy is just kneeling there, resting his head on your bump, and you are lovingly stroking his hair and his beard.
"I'll go fix us some lunch, baby. Just sit here for a while, I'll come and get you," says Andy.
You start to fall asleep in the chair, and Andy comes back and sees the sight. He helps get you up, and gets you back to the master bedroom, and helps get you on the bed, and covers you with a blanket so that you can nap while he fixes lunch. You were tired all the time.
Tumblr media
After a while, you feel a contraction. You think nothing of it, as you have been having Braxton-Hicks contractions, so you woke up, and went to get a glass of water. Your doctor said that Braxton-Hicks contractions often happen randomly and sporadically, so when one came, drink a glass of water, and they'll calm down. You drink the glass of water, and go back to bed, and try to rest again.
Andy comes to get you, and he sees how uncomfortable you are. He notices that you are in pain this time.
"Andy, I had a contraction earlier. I thought it was a Braxton-Hicks contraction, so I drank a glass of water, hoping it would calm it down. I think this is it," you say.
"Baby, I know. I'll bring you you're lunch. Let's keep an eye on this," says Andy.
"Do you feel like it's trapped gas right now?", asks Andy.
"AH. I think it's just Joy Grace being active right now," you say. Joy Grace was usually active during the afternoon, so you think nothing of it.
"Okay, just yell if you need anything," says Andy. You grab your book, while you wait for Andy to finish lunch.
Andy brings you your lunch on a tray, it's a simple grilled cheese and turkey sandwich. Andy kisses you on the forehead. You take a bite, and then eat a chip. You try to take another bite, and feel a sharp pain.
Tumblr media
"ANDY! ANDY! IT'S TIME!" you scream.
"Shit, honey, are you sure?" says a concerned Andy.
"Yes, this is it, I just had another contraction," you say, panting.
"I'll call the doctor," says Andy, who reaches for your phone, and immediately dials the doctor.
"Okay, the doctor says we just have to wait until your contractions are closer together and are at five minutes apart, or your water breaks," says Andy.
You finish your lunch, because you would need the energy. Andy went through this with Laurie, and he was in the delivery room when Laurie was delivering Jacob.
For the rest of the afternoon, the contractions are strong, but don't feel that bad. You can easily talk through them, and they feel more like a period cramp. Later on, around dinner, they start to become more frequent and are getting closer together.
Tumblr media
Andy reaches for your phone, and calls the doctor.
"The doctor says to come in, since your contractions are getting closer and are more frequent, " says Andy.
"I've been timing them, and you're at seven minutes apart right now," says Andy.
"We should go now! AH!", you scream.
"Honey, don't worry. I have the hospital bag in the car already. It's all packed, "says Andy.
You stand up and Andy puts one arm around you. You feel something cold and wet between your legs, and you realize that your water broke.
"ANDY! AH! ANDY!" you scream.
"Oh, shit!" says Andy.
"My water broke," you say, between screaming and panting.
"Honey, just try to stay calm right now. I'm getting you to the hospital," says Andy, who is doing his best to stay calm.
Andy picks you up, and carries you to the car, bridal style. Andy rushes you to the hospital, and had actually called the police department and explained the situation. They help you guys get to the hospital in record time.
"Just breathe, honey," says Andy.
You are doing your best to use what you had learned in Lamaze class, with Andy being behind you the entire time. Andy even brought in the hospital bag, and he pulls out the pillow and a tennis ball.
Andy would go through the list that the nurse handed him months ago when you reached your third trimester every other day to make dure that he had everything. Andy wanted to be prepared and ready to go, and boy, were you glad he went through each item and went through the hospital bag every other day.
"I know, baby, this will all be over soon," Andy says, trying to soothe you.
"ANDREW STEPHEN BARBER, DON'T TOUCH ME. DON'T BABY ME! DON'T COME NEAR ME WITH YOUR DICK AGAIN! AHH! AHH! MAKE THIS STOP! I HATE YOU, ANDREW STEPHEN BARBER!", you scream as a contraction washes over you. You had managed to throw a glass of water at your husband, narrowilly missing his crotch.
You didn't mean this, it was the hormones and the contractions, and you were uncomfortable and you were in pain.
Tumblr media
The doctor comes in to see how far your dilating, and your contractions are even closer together. Your contractions are now at two and a half minutes apart, and your now at ten centimeters.
"Okay, Andy get some scrubs on. Then get behind her. It's time for me to deliver Joy Grace," says the doctor.
Andy puts on the scrubs, and he changed into them quickly. Andy gets behind you, and kisses the top of your head. The doctor is in front of you, and your feet are in the stir ups.
Tumblr media
"Okay, on this next contraction, don't breathe through it, push through it," said the doctor.
Your next contraction comes, and you push. You rest for a bit, before the next one comes, and you push again. You keep repeating this process for the next hour and a half. Eventually, Joy Grace is born.
You're drenched in sweat, and Andy is looking at this pink human being who is perfect. You look at Joy, and when the doctor places you on your chest with the umbilical cord attached, you feel your heart filling with even more love. Joy Grace is perfect. The doctor clamps the cord, and Andy cuts the cord. You both just can't keep your eyes off your beautiful daughter.
Tumblr media
You daughter is taken and tested, and she is perfectly healthy and perfectly strong. She came out unscathed from that night, and you are forever grateful. God, or whatever higher power you believed in, was with you that night, and Joy Grace was okay. She was a strong one.
Joy is cleaned up, and is screaming, indicating that her lungs are healthy. You calm her down, and you say soothing things to your daughter.
Tumblr media
"Hi, Joy. Happy birthday, Joy. I love you, Joy", you say, with tears in your eyes. Andy wipes them, and he immediately can't take his eyes off of Joy. You give Joy to Andy, and he immediately finds his heart filling with love all over again again.
"Hi, Joy. I'm your daddy. Daddy loves you very much. I love you just as much as I love your mom, beautiful baby girl," says Andy, who has also placed his finger in her tiny palm. Joy grabs on, and doesn't let go.
Andy kisses you lovingly, and he is also grateful that Joy Grace is one hundred percent okay, and is perfectly healthy and strong.
Tumblr media
"Honey, I love you so much," says Andy, who breaks the kiss and kisses you again.
"I love you, too, Andy," you respond, kissing him again.
A few days later, you and Andy are ready to bring Joy Grace home. Joy Grace was perfectly healthy, strong, and she brought you and Andy even closer together. You and Andy had a healthy, loving relationship already, but Joy Grace brought even more love to the Barber household.
Andy helps you inside, and brings Joy Grace back in the house. Andy places Joy Grace on the floor in her car seat, and Joy is peacefully sleeping You pick up Joy Grace, and put her in her nursery. You place her in her crib.
Andy goes to the bedroom, and showers. You yawn, and fall asleep on the bed, and you had planned on showering with your husband. Andy sees you on the bed, kisses you on the forehead, and puts the covers over you. Andy lies next to you on the bed, and starts to read his book.
After a while, Joy cries and you wake up. She's hungry, so you pick her up, and go over to the arm chair. You life up your shirt, pull down your bra, and release a breast, You hold Joy to your breast, and she latches on. You burp her after a while, and then you repeat with the other breast.
Tumblr media
Andy sees this, and he smiles at the wholesome site. After, you start to sing softly to Joy Grace, and you sing her Perfect by Ed Sheeran, in an effort to get her back to sleep.
youtube
You yawn, and Andy helps you back to bed.
"Get some rest, honey," said Andy, who falls asleep next to you after a while.
"It still feels like yesterday I found out I was pregnant," you say.
"I know. I'm just glad we have that night and your narcissistically abusive ex finally behind us," says Andy, who is looking at you with love and awe.
"You are so strong for going what you went through, and you are so strong for giving birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter. It's a miracle she came out okay," says Andy.
"I think God was looking out for us, Andy", you say, and fall asleep.
A few hours later, you hear your stomach growl. Andy's stomach growls, too. He goes into the kitchen, and sees what's in the fridge. He forgot about grocery shopping, and wanted to make you a pizza from scratch. He orders a pizza from your favorite Italian place, along with some tiramisu for dessert.
Tumblr media
You hear Joy cry again, and she wrinkles her nose and knits her brow. She does it again, and you realize that she needs her diaper changed. You pull out the diaper and the wipes, and Andy sees you.
"Honey, I got this. I'll change her. You just sit and get some rest, and wait for dinner, okay?", says Andy, and kisses your cheek. Andy finishes changing Joy's diaper. You try to tell Andy how to change it, but you're learning from him. Andy has been through this before, so he knows what he's doing.
Dinner arrives, and Andy pays for it, and you pay for the tip. That's the least you can do, because Andy won't let you lift a finger.
A few weeks later, the weather is still cold, but it feels warm. Spring has arrived, and you perfect bundle has made everything feel perfect. Andy and you are enjoying the warm weather, with Joy in her infant seat. You have her covered with your hand knit blanket, and she is dressed in a pink and white sleeper that has flowers on it. She also has the baby sweater that you knitted her on so she could be warm. Andy is at the grill, making some grilled chicken and he's made some pasta with sundried tomatoes for dinner, and you have s'mores for dessert.
"Are you enjoying dinner, baby?', asks Andy.
"It's lovely, Andy," you say between bites.
"I love you so much, and I love Joy so much. I never thought I would find happiness and love again, but you changed all that", says Andy.
"I love you, too Andy. I love you so much. You have given me gifts that are priceless, and you helped put my abusive ex in prison, where he belongs. I love that I can have an adult conversation with you. I love that you are the father of our child. I love that you help me feel safe, and you make me feel safe, whole, found, and loved. I love you so much," you respond.
Tumblr media
Everything feels perfect.

It might not feel like spring just yet, but I’m heading to Florida tomorrow, so I’ve got warmer weather on my mind! I’ve been on the lookout for stylish pieces that transition seamlessly into the new season—think lightweight jackets, versatile tops, and breezy dresses that will be perfect once the weather finally warms up. Whether you’re layering up for now or planning ahead for sunnier days, I’ve found some great options to mix into your wardrobe. Let’s dive in! SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small or medium in tops and dresses, a 29 or 30 in jeans and pants, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself. New Season, New Styles: Spring Fashion for Women Over 40 As usual, I will provide measurements and fabric content on each item when I can find it, and I’ll share whether I plan to keep it or not. Just remember, even when I decide not to keep something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth checking out. I just may not need it, or it may not work for my body type or lifestyle. Diana French Terry Blazer at Evereve // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8) DETAILS: Look chic from work to weekend in the Diana blazer by Splendid, crafted in comfortable French terry fabric with a double-breasted button closure, patch pockets, and raw edge detailing. Length from Shoulder to Hem: 23 1/2″ Material: 100% Cotton Terry Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low This blazer is such a fun twist on a classic. The knit fabric has a soft, sweatshirt-like feel, making it the perfect mix of polished and relaxed, and the navy color is incredibly versatile. I styled it here with a split-neck tee, but I think a crewneck or scoop neck would complement the V-neckline better. VERDICT: Definitely keeping this. In fact, it might be part of my travel outfit tomorrow! Aiden Crop Shirting at Evereve (S) (also in Tan/Cream Stripe) // LOFT flares (29) // Kanika Mid Pump (8) DETAILS: Crafted in striped cotton fabric, this button-down shirt by EVEREVE is perfect for work-to-weekend wear, featuring long sleeves with button tabs, a left chest pocket, and a cropped silhouette for a chic, modern feel. Length from Shoulder to Hem: 22″ Material: 100% Cotton Woven Care: Machine Wash, Tumble Dry Low I shared this in last week’s Try-On Haul in the Tan/Cream Stripe colorway in the size medium, and this is the Blue. I think it’s so pretty, and I was happily surprised to see how well the size small fits. Now I’m conflicted about which one to keep. I also have this fun chartreuse cardigan on my rolling rack, so I tried throwing it over my shoulders like they did styled it on the website… it really is a fun way to add interest (and a bit of warmth) to an outfit! VERDICT: I’m debating this or the tan stripe, but I need to decide soon because I want to pack one for Florida. KUT from the Kloth Alora Stripe Short Sleeve Henley Sweater at Nordstrom (M) // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8) DETAILS: Horizontal stripes contrast with vertical ones on the cuffs and hem, giving a lively look to a henley sweater framed by elbow-length sleeves. 22 1/2″ length Button half placket Elbow-length sleeves Ribbed cuffs and hem 85% viscose, 15% nylon Hand wash, dry flat I love pairing black and white in the spring, and this striped Henley sweater is such a fun take on the classic combo. It has that effortlessly polished vibe that feels current and aligns well with my personal style. My only hesitation is the length—I find it a bit long, and I’m torn on sizing. And here’s how it looks in the small, styled with my Frank & Eileen Derry Pull On Jeans and black loafers. VERDICT: I think the medium is the better fit overall, even though it’s slightly longer than I’d prefer, so I’ll probably keep that one. Fidelity Katie Flare at Nordstrom (29) // Talbots Chunky Knit Roll Neck Sweater (S) // Reformation Eleonora Slingback (8.5) DETAILS: Katie is a go to high classic flare leg in our collection. Not to over the top wide but just the perfect balance of a full and fashionable with comfort and ease built right in. 32″ inseam; 20″ leg opening; 10″ front rise 48% cotton; 45% lyocell; 5% elasterell-p; 2% spandex Machine wash, tumble dry low I’ve been on the hunt for white flare jeans for spring, and this pair from Fidelity Denim is a strong contender. The fabric has a nice weight and isn’t too see-through, and the fit is really flattering—but they’re just a bit too snug in the waistband. I think I need to size up to avoid a muffin-top, but unfortunately, the size 30 won’t arrive before my trip. (This is exactly why I always recommend ordering two sizes!) I love the sleek, leg-lengthening silhouette, and the raw hem means I can trim them if they’re a little long when the larger size comes in. VERDICT: I ordered the size 30 to try. Shayla Pullover at Evereve (M) // rag & bone Wren (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5) DETAILS: Red-and-white stripes elevate this chic crewneck sweater by EVEREVE. The Shayla pullover is crafted in a cotton-blend knit and features a ribbed hem, vertical stitching details, and ribbed cuffs with gold buttons. 32″ inseam; 20″ leg opening; 10″ front rise 48% cotton; 45% lyocell; 5% elasterell-p; 2% spandex Machine wash, tumble dry low I’m such a sucker for stripes, and they’re everywhere right now! This red-and-white striped sweater makes a statement without feeling too bold for my more understated style. The lightweight fabric is really nice—perfect for layering now and wearing on its own when the weather warms up. I also love the button detail on the sleeves. VERDICT: Keeping! This is going right in my suitcase. rag & bone Flexi Wren High Waist Slim Straight Leg Jeans at Nordstrom (29) // Shayla Pullover (M) // Gola Torpedo (8.5) DETAILS: Cut from featherweight superstretch denim, these slim-cut, full-length jeans feature a versatile medium wash with vintage-inspired character. 30″ inseam; 15″ leg opening; 12 1/2″ front rise; 15 1/2″ back rise (size 29) 75% cotton, 12% polyester, 6% Lycra, 5% recycled cotton, 2% spandex Machine wash, line dry These jeans are a new style I keep hearing about—supposedly the ‘new’ skinny jean silhouette, but I can’t say I’m a fan. The 30″ inseam feels long on me—I don’t love how they break on top of these shoes. Maybe I should have tried them with sandals or ballet flats for a fair shot, but overall, they just felt frumpy. I wasn’t crazy about the wash either. That said, looking at these pictures, they are fairly flattering from the sides and rear. If I liked the wash more, I might be willing to play around with styling them with different shoes. VERDICT: I think I’ll return these and look for them in a different wash. Sanctuary The New Girl Split Neck T-Shirt at Nordstrom (M) // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8) Details: This relaxed-fit T-shirt is crafted from supersoft slub jersey and designed with a chic split neck. 24″ length (size Medium) Split neck Short sleeves 51% cotton, 49% rayon Machine wash, dry flat I’m looking to add a couple of white tees to my collection since I wear them so much, and I like having a few different styles to choose from. I really thought I’d love this one—a split neckline usually works for me—but the cut feels a little off, and it’s so thin. VERDICT: Returning this one too. Z Supply Camino Top at Evereve (M) // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8) DETAILS: The Camino Top by Z Supply is the perfect everyday tee, crafted in soft, midweight jersey fabric with a crew neckline, cropped fit, and cap sleeves. Neckline: Crew Neck Length from Shoulder to Hem: 21 3/4″ Material: 56.7% Cotton, 43.3% Lyocell Jersey Knit Care: Machine Wash Delicate; Hang To Dry This is another white top I ordered, and I like the design, but it runs really small. This is the medium, and I feel like it’s too small for me. I’m bummed because I could really use this one on my trip. Here’s how it looks with a front tuck… VERDICT: I think I’m returning this, although I will see what I need when I pack tonight. If I need an extra white tee, I may throw it in and see how I feel about it when I get to Florida. Splendid Dre Cardigan in Chartreuse at Evereve (S) (also in Hot Pink and Moonstone) // Pistola Kinsley Flare (29) // Paul Green Hadley (8) DETAILS: Elevate your wardrobe with this must-have cardigan by Splendid. Finished in a textured cotton-blend knit, this chic sweater features a button-front silhouette with patch pockets and a cropped length—perfect for wearing alone or layered. Neckline: Crew Neck Length from Shoulder to Hem: 19″ Material: 60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic Knit Care: Dry Clean Only I thought this chartreuse color was so fun, and I love how they styled it over the Aiden crop shirt (as shown above) so I popped it into my cart. Sadly, it feels a little small. I wish I’d ordered the medium. VERDICT: I’m hoping to run to the mall today and see if I can exchange this for the medium. Sanctuary The Perfect Geo Print Cotton Blend Knit Top in Sky Floral at Nordstrom (M) // LOFT flare (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5) DETAILS: Jazz up your laid-back look with a cotton-first top covered in a groovy print. 24″ length (size Medium) 51% cotton, 49% rayon Machine wash, dry flat I’ve been trying to add more color and print to my wardrobe, and I thought this subtle take might be a good fit—but I just don’t love it. That said, the quality is nice. I like the cotton-rayon blend, and it comes in lots of colors and patterns. I also ordered the Neutral Floral, which I might like better, but it hasn’t arrived yet VERDICT: Returning this one. Gap Factory Relaxed Hoodie at Gap Factory (S) // LOFT flare (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5) DETAILS:  Soft comfy fleece jacket relaxed fit that hits right below the hip. Long raglan sleeves with banded cuffs. Hood, zip front. Kanga pockets. 77% Cotton Better Cotton, 23% Polyester Recycled Care: Machine wash cold. Tumble dry low. I shared this jacket in last week’s Try-On Haul. I threw it on over the floral tee to see how I liked the pairing—and I think it works… if I liked the shirt more. Either way, I wanted to show how the jacket looks zipped up since I didn’t include that last time. I really like this one; it has such a nice, easy fit. I think it’s going to come in handy on my Florida trip—I can even wear it with shorts! VERDICT: Keeping; packing it! Soft Shirt with Piping + High Rise Flared Trouser WHBM Soft Shirt with Piping (S) // WHBM High Rise Flared Trouser (10) // Vince Bianca (8.5) DETAILS: Whether it’s a dinner out with friends or a classic shirt to look great in the office, the latest update to the fan-favorite Soft Shirt, is as luxurious as it is sophisticated. This iteration features buttons and striking pipping going down the center front, with piping on the cuffs as well. Soft shirring at the shoulders add to the overall comfort. The long sleeve is not only ultra-soft, but ultra-stylish.   Regular: 24 5/8″ Long. Petite: 26″ Long. 100% Polyester. Machine wash cold.  This is kind of random, but I ordered a few tops and these pants from White House Black Market. The other tops didn’t make the cut, but I wanted to share this one because it’s really nice. The pants are nice too. VERDICT: I don’t really need anything like this, but I wanted to show you because I think it’s a nice choice for ladies who need work wear. SPANX AirEssentials Half Zip & Tapered Pant in Smoke Half Zip (S) // SPANX Tapered Pant (M) // Paul Green Hadley (8) DETAILS for the Half Zip: A modal-enhanced blend adds comfort to a half-zip sweatshirt styled with a stand collar and slightly split cuffs. 21 1/2″ length (size Medium) Stand collar Long sleeves 47% modal, 46% polyester, 7% elastane Dry clean or machine wash, tumble dry I was immediately drawn to these SPANX tapered pants, and also this pretty Smoke color, so I ordered this set with my upcoming travel in mind. I’m conflicted; I do think these pants are more flattering than the wide leg pairs I have (I have both the cropped and full length), but I don’t know. All together, I just couldn’t get excited about this. DETAILS for the Tapered Pant: Seaming runs down the front of these stretchy pants made with tapered legs that give your look a put-together vibe. Elastic/drawstring waist 48% polyester, 45% Tencel® modal, 7% elastane Machine wash, tumble dry VERDICT: I decided to go ahead and return this set. For this price, I need to love it. I also felt like the colors didn’t quite match, and that would bug me. Talbots Finds for Late Winter/Early Spring I ordered a few things from Talbots, and they’re having a sale right now—25% off pants, tops, and jeans! Talbots Chunky Knit Roll Neck Sweater Heritage Green at Talbots (S) // Fidelity Katie Flare (29) // Reformation Eleonora Slingback (8.5) DETAILS: Chunky, cozy and always effortless. Wrap yourself in the cozy warmth of this roll neck sweater. Crafted in gorgeous chunky knit texture. An elevated cool-weather essential. Misses: 23″; Petite: 22″; Plus: 26″; Plus Petite: 24 1/2″ Material: 100% Cotton Machine Wash Cold; Reshape, Lay Flat To Dry This sweater is more winter than spring, but it’s great for those of us living in cold climates who want to brighten things up without sacrificing warmth. It’s really cozy and comfortable and has a nice fit. VERDICT: I’m really in spring shopping mode at this point, but this is a nice piece, if you need it. It also comes in blue. Talbots Fresh Poplin Coat at Talbots (S) // LOFT flare (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5) DETAILS: Versatile. Timeless. Our iconic mac coat in crisp cotton poplin with a sleek back vent seam. Accented with sleek side panels and welt front pockets. The perfect outfit topper for round-the-clock ease. Water Resistant; Fully Lined Fit: Misses: 38″; Petite: 36″; Plus: 39 1/2″ 60% Cotton, 40% Biconstituent Fiber; Lining: 90% Polyester, 10% Cotton Care: Dry Clean I ordered a few spring jackets with my trip to England in mind. This is a really nice quality coat, and it has a great fit. The contrast pinstriped lining is a fun detail, and I like this color a lot. I think I prefer a mac coat to a traditional trench; the way the sleeves and shoulders are designed are way more flattering for my square shoulders, and I always prefer a single-breasted style. Here’s how it looks buttoned-up. I think it works, but it feels a bit snug through the back and shoulders. I feel like I’d be more comfortable if I sized up to a medium. VERDICT: I ordered a similar coat from Sézane, and it arrived yesterday, but I haven’t had time to try it on yet. I’ll compare and decide if I want to re-order this in the medium or not. Talbots Refined Denim Short Trench Coat at Talbots (S) // LOFT flares (29) // Gola Torpedo (8.5) DETAILS: Elevate your casual-chic looks with this utilitarian-inspired trench coat. Crafted from a soft, refined denim jacket with button detailing at the storm flap. Features functional button patch pockets and buttons at the cuffs. Hits At Hip Button front closure Button flap front pockets Fit: Misses: 24″; Petite: 23″; Plus: 26 1/2″ 98% Cotton, 2% Spandex; Lining: 70% Polyester, 30% Cotton Care: Dry Clean Denim jackets are taking on new shapes and dimensions this spring, and I thought this short trench would be a fun way to dip my toe into the trend. I’ve always loved denim jackets, but lately, the classic styles in my closet have been feeling a little stale. I probably should have tried a few more styling options before making up my mind, but this one just misses the mark. The fabric feels a bit stiff, and overall, I don’t find it comfortable. VERDICT: Returning. Talbots Twill Short Trench Coat at Talbots (S) // Frank & Eileen Derry Pull On Jeans (29) // similar loafers DETAILS: A shorter length brings a striking, modern touch to your favorite trench coat. In looks-good, feels-good twill with an inverted box pleat and storm flaps with buttons. Fit: Misses: 25″; Petite: 23 1/2″; Plus: 27 1/2″ Material: Shell: 71% Cotton 29% Nylon; Lining: 100% Polyester Care: Machine Wash Cold, Tumble Dry Low, Cool Iron If Needed  This coat is such a gorgeous green, but it’s also too small for me through the shoulders, and I don’t care for the swing style. VERDICT: Returning. Spring Dresses Finally, I ordered a few dresses with my trip to Florida in mind. I get a lot of requests for spring dresses, so I’m hoping to shoot quite a few while I’m down there. CIEBON Brynlee Halter Dress at Nordstrom (M) // Sam Edelman Cressa Slingback (8) DETAILS: Beautifully print fabric adds to the getaway-ready feel of this gorgeous halter dress with a shoulder-baring neckline and svelte tie belt that adds shape to the waist. 80% rayon, 20% nylon Hand wash, dry flat This is really pretty; I love the fabric, but I don’t feel like it looks very good on me. I never do well with tie waist styles when the dress itself doesn’t have a lot of shape. VERDICT: Returned this one. Z Supply Cecily Polka Dot Slip Dress at Evereve (M) // Sam Edelman Cressa Slingback (8) DETAILS: Polka Dot details add the perfect finishing touch to this easy slip dress from Z Supply, featuring a fully lined design, adjustable straps, and a flattering scoop neckline.  Length from Shoulder to Hem: 50″ Material: Shell: 100% Polyester Woven Lining: 100% Polyester Care: Hand Wash, Hang To Dry Polka dots are trending this spring, and this simple slip dress has such a simple but feminine silhouette. I don’t always love how I look with dresses cut on the bias, but this one seems to work. I like that it’s fully lined; it doesn’t feel so much like a nightgown. I also appreciate the adjustable straps because I need to pull them up quite a bit to get good chest coverage. I tried a few styling options, since I will definitely want a topper, and I like both of these for different looks. Dre Cardigan (S) // Rocky Two Pocket Utility (S) VERDICT: Keeping this one. Packing it for Florida! Also, I really love these sandals. They’re super comfortable, but also strappy and pretty with dresses. They come in lots of colors, too. Talbots Refined Denim Dress at Talbots (8) // Veronica Beard Via Slide Sandal (8) DETAILS: Our effortlessly polished fit & flare dress. Crafted from soft, refined denim. Expertly tailored with princess seams for a modern, ultra-flattering fit. Sleeveless silhouette layers perfectly from work to weekends. Fit & Flare Dress Sleeveless Hidden back zip closure Hits Below Knee Misses: 43 3/4″ Long Material: 98% Cotton, 2% Spandex Care: Dry Clean Denim dresses are trending, so I thought I’d try this. I sort of like it, but I think it’s too big. I might pack it just so I can shoot it and then order a size 6 for when I get home. VERDICT: I’m still debating; this isn’t really my style, but I’m curious to see how it would look in the size 6. Also, these sandals are a splurge, but they’re gorgeous. Nordstrom Pleated Midi Dress at Nordstrom (S) // old Tory Burch sandals DETAILS: Sharp pleats add shape and movement to this charming dolman-sleeve midi punctuated with a flared skirt for a twirl-worthy look and feel. 93% viscose, 7% polyester Machine wash, line dry This dress is so not my style, but I was curious to try it, and you know, I actually kind of like it! It needs a good steam, and I couldn’t fasten the back on my own (so it looks too big across the shoulders) but I may try it again when I can have help and see if I think it’s worth taking on my trip. VERDICT: Still deciding. Rails Camellia Floral Print Midi Dress at Nordstrom (M) // Reformation Eleonora Slingback (8.5) DETAILS: Make a sophisticated statement in this silky midi dress featuring a fresh, flowery pattern. 48″ length (size Medium) Slips on over head V-neck Sleeveless Unlined 55% rayon, 45% viscose Dry clean This one is beautiful, and I really like the styling and the print. I just wish I had time to have it taken up a bit in the shoulders. That is often an issue I have with dresses. I’m also not sure what I’d wear for a topper. Any ideas? VERDICT: I’m debating on this one. Nordstrom Ruched Funnel Neck Midi Dress at Nordstrom (M) // Reformation Eleonora Slingback (8.5) DETAILS: Ruching at the sides creates easy and elegant draping on this knit funnel-neck dress framed by cap sleeves and ready to take your night-out look to the next level. Back zip closure Funnel neck Cap sleeves 78% polyester, 17% rayon, 5% spandex Machine wash, line dry This one has potential, but there’s something I don’t quite love about it. It also comes in other colors. Thoughts? VERDICT: I’m undecided on this one too. And that wraps up this try-on haul! There were definitely some hits and misses, but I’m excited about the pieces I’m keeping—especially for my Florida trip. I’ll be sure to share more styling ideas once I’ve had a chance to wear them.
