Give me your Penny Lamb headcanons (rtc)

Well, if you insist! These are just some random kinda general ones. Some will mention some gore and the accident and some will vaguely reference familial abuse, so be warned!

- Penny had a really rough childhood and was taken from her father indefinitely when she was 10. She's been in the system ever since, as families keep deciding they can't handle the combination of PTSD and autism and gave her back.

- The only biological family she really connected with was her grandmother, who was the one who gave Penny her doll

- Penny wants to be a sheep farmer one day like Gran was before she passed.

- Penny's Metis on her bio mom's side. She doesn't really talk about it much because her mother died shortly after she was born and her father kept her away from that side of her family and Penny never really learned much about her culture. She doesn't really know what all it means.

- This one is kind of a general RTC headcanon, but the way the choir survives the Cyclone after the musical is that Karnak quite literally shifted the timeline. They technically inhabit an alternate universe where the only change is they survive. This means everyone has two conflicting memories of how the accident happened and Penny has very vivid nightmares that constantly switch between losing her head and waking up alive aftermath of the crash with her throat sliced and her neck broken.

- Penny had a sort of identity crisis at 3 am due to these dreams and cut and bleached her hair in Jane Doe fashion. She actually found it strangely comforting to sort of pay homage to the person she was when she found her friends and keeps the look. She didn't like being Jane Doe, but she appreciates what Jane did for her.

- Penny always liked scary movies and stuff like that, but after the accident and the whole Jane Doe debacle she becomes very fascinated with anything morbid and death related as a sort of weird coping mechanism.

- Penny also gets very into the goth, emo, and heavy metal scenes after the accident. She cries listening to Nemo by Nightwish (no I will not shut up about that song)

- Speaking of music, Penny is a life long Marianas Trench fan and when Constance finds out they NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT IT

- Penny had a big crush on Ocean for a while before they started dating, but it was always kind of soured by Ocean acting SO homophobic and SO ableist all the time. It was a huge internal conflict for Penny until Ocean finally turned around, apologized to all the people she'd hurt, and genuinely changed for the better. Penny is actually quite proud of Ocean's progress.

- Penny's hyposensitive to touch and loves deep pressure, squishy hugs, cuddles, and textures. She's notorious for touching stuff without permission when she thinks no one's looking just because the texture looks ✨️feely✨️ (same girl same)

- Mischa is her favourite person to go to for sensory hugs cause he's taller than her and kinda chubby and kinda muscular and he can just envelop her entirely and squeeze the life out of her which she loves.

- Penny really likes Moutain Dew. Mountain Dew of any flavour. The only things she drinks are water, Mountain Dew, and the occasion double-double from Tims. Ocean got her that Baja Blast t-shirt from Hot Topic and Penny wears it every day as pajamas.

- Penny's new family (the one she was placed with after the other one didn't look for her or report her missing or anything at all after the accident) are very nice, but she's incredibly wary of them because of her history. She prefers to be out of the house so she doesn't have to interact with people who are supposed to be parental figures to her.

- Penny loves going to Ricky's, laying on his floor, and being smothered by all his cats while he tells her about Star Trek lore.

- Penny and Noel are the same height, so often times he comes over asking to try on her skirts and stuff to see if they'll look good on him. She has lost half her wardrobe to him.

Some new lore about her:

She grew up at the tippy top of a mountain, very close to the clouds. Sometimes her home would be inshrouded in them if they were particularly low.

Not only that but bc she was high up, she also had unfiltered access to the stars in the sky every night. Could see the milky way up in there type beat. Could tie into her nebula ability mentioned in the link <3.

She would always dream about cloud creatures coming to visit her during the warmer months as a child. Dragons, puppy like creatures, rams, little living flowers, etc. During the colder months, people made of stars (what she would later learn were her ancestors) are who would come to visit her dreams.

Also thinking she didn't travel down the mountain for the first time until she was like 12. It took a lot of adjusting, and to this day she still sometimes has a few problems with social skills or doesn't understand how things function in farmable and shoppable spaces. Like the way Inosuke's brain exploded at the entertainment district? That would be her the first time she just sees a train.

Aaahhhh and as for my lovely Giyuu 💙

I do love him dearly <33333. He treats me well. I feel like he and I understand each other like no other hashira or possibly anybody else due to our somewhat lack of social skills tbh lmao.

We kinda advocate for each other too. Like I am a lot more expressive and happy seeming than he is, but the very moment I am uncomfortable or I desire to exit a situation he snaps into action and does something about it by interfering with whatever is causing my displeasure. Other times he will be himself and say something that pisses the other hashira off with no explanation, and I am immediately explaining what he ACTUALLY means (cus i just know somehow), sometimes throwing whatever energy they are giving him atm back at them.

Sometimes without even thinking, I will accidentally just read him to filth (no malice) and expose all his deeper feelings in front of all the hashira. Not that what I said is anything he explicitly told me, I just get a vibe and I say I what I feel fr.

He will look down after, face still completely neutral but with the tips of his ears tinging red. It is probably a little embarrassing for him, but also it does help the other hashira understand him better. Mitsuri starts calling me the Water Whisperer LMAO.

What I like most about him is how considerate he is. Like yes he is a little stoic, but in his heart he holds a lot of feelings. The story of his haori and why he is the way he is now, shows me how deeply he loves and cares. And him singlehandedly turning Tanjiro's life around after disaster? Being the only one to believe in him and even stake his life on it? AUGH. The way even the littlest gifts touch him 🥺🥺🥺 (thinking about this post with his favorite food).

As for our evening/nightly routine 🩵

Normally I will cook dinner. He does too, but I do more often. (He normally cooks breakfast cus he is always up before me.)

After dinner, we will spend some time together sitting outside. Maybe a few murmurs here and there, but mostly silent as we just mindfully experience nature. We let our food register and we take the time to enjoy peace for just a short while (with the grand scheme of demon hunting, y'know, being rather heavy.)

After our time outside, we dress down a bit and do some stretching/yoga together inside.

If he's just getting back from a mission recently, I will normally have made him a little treat when I made dinner that I give him now (after stretching) with a kiss on the cheek.

After that we bathe, and the rest of the night is spent doing whatever we please, together or parallel with one another.

Closer to bed time we have a cuddle session. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we simply feel one another, sometimes we seek comfort, sometimes we are just content and relaxing. Whatever the case, we are being intentional with our physical affection.

When it comes to actually falling asleep, we are no longer cuddling. We always end up separate, but facing the other; looking at one another and touching our hands together in some way. At the first sign of the other drifting off, one of us always starts smiling while watching.

Sometimes, we do share dreams. Not that we actually lucidly meet one another in them. But like in the morning I will tell him what I dreamed about and more times than not, he will tell me he dreamed of something similar, or something different that happened in a similar way. Or there are times where like our positions in dreams are one to one, but the dreams are still completely different somehow. Like I will dream I am holding him as he hangs off a cliff, and he will dream he is dangling off a cliff and I'm trying to save him but everything else about our two dreams are different. When we have dreams like that that are scary and one to one, I get a little paranoid for a while and wanna stay close to him in general for the next few days 👁👁.

Anyways, the next morning he gently wakes me and kisses me on my face somewhere and then we have the breakfast he cooked <3.

Lore

Nerissa Marinus is the youngest daughter of the 'Old Man of the Sea' Nereus and the Oceanid Doris, sister to the fifty (there's definitely more than that) nereids and Nerites. She is famous for her cute, child-like appearance, bright presence, and powerful magical abilities, earning the name 'Hime' from her family.

Despite living far, far longer than most humans, she still retains her innocence, kindness, and curious-like nature. She loves to explore the seven seas, create mischief every now and then, sing and dance with her siblings, and play with the other inhabitants within the ocean, especially with a certain tropical mermaid she calls her 'Onee-san'.

Being the youngest daughter of her family, she was treated like royalty. Fragile. Ready to be broken if touched just once. She hated that. After leaving a note where she knew her family will look first, she grabbed the one thing that reminded her of home — her necklace — and quickly swam to where her friend has gone to, never looking back once. The closer she swam to the surface, the more excited she became.

The moment her head was completely out of the salty sea water, she felt as if she was exploring the Pacific Ocean all over again. But times that feeling by like hundred. Just by looking around her, she knew she was going to like this new place. She couldn't wait to meet the humans and make new friends!

The surface may have its downsides, but this little jellyfish is ready to take on anything the surface has in store for. She just needed to find her tropical friend first.

Face Claim: Jellyfish Salad from Food Fantasy

The name Nerissa is a girl's name of Greek Origin meaning "sea nymph" or "from the sea".

Nerissa is the only sea nymph of her family that is part jellyfish. Why is she part jellyfish instead of part mermaid like her siblings remains a mystery to this day.

The piece of jewelry around her neck was given to her by her parents on the day of her birth.

Unlike other jellyfishes, she can feel pain in the same way that humans would. She does possess a brain, a heart, bones, and a respiratory system.

She was born with the bell — the umbrella-like dome — floating above her head, symbolizing her jellyfish side. She would later add seashell clips with a ribbon attached to her bell as she found the clips and the design on the ribbons adorable.

Nerissa could make her bell disappear whenever she wanted by using magic. She does this when she sleeps, although there are times where she forgets to do that and the bell continues floating above her sleeping form.

She is bioluminescent. If she focused hard enough, her whole body will begin to glow, but this will tire her out quickly. Fortunately, her bell is also bioluminescent and it doesn't drain her of her energy, so it's a perfect lamp/night light!

RP Resolutions

No graphic because I am feeling lazy.

Write your RPer Resolutions for 2023! (What are some goals for yourself as a writer? Improve descriptions? Plot with more members? Etc.)

Be bolder! I think while I’m not afraid to message people and to come up with my own plots I am bad at combining those two things and messaging people about plots. Especially about offering my services/pitching ideas when opportunities arrive. 

Interactions with those people I haven’t yet - can’t believe I’ve been here a year and somehow not interacted with some of you so that is Item number 1 to fix.

Be more intentional! (One of my broader new years resolutions). Sometimes I get so lost in the ultimate thrill of ticking things off my thread tracker, that I don’t think I always get the most out of replies. So I want to maybe slow down, think of them a bit deeper, consider all angles and deeper characterisation.

Write at least one resolution, or “goal,” that you have as an RPer for your character(s)

Herc: Growing Pains - Herc has been doing a good job of slow growth within the gym, but let’s see him struggle with new challenges. It’s the only way to get stronger and bolder, buddy! I especially think it would be good for the tensions within the SSHIIT to ultimately come to a head. Plus some potential things already possibly in the works…

Jeremy: Big year for him in terms of starting to establish his reputation as a musician around town - I want to see him perform at open mics, get roped into events, both with the Gentlemen and alone, and with the assistance of Jenny of course.

Jessie: Get her to ‘accept’ that she’s staying in Swynlake for a while - let’s get this lady a house/flat to decorate extravagantly and drift around. Also, have her be more antagonistic. She’s a dick, let’s lean in to that more, Laura.

Write at least one resolution IN CHARACTER for your characters. What do THEY want to accomplish or change in the New Year?

Herc: Increase the gym’s profits! Pay off his debt to his parents. Don’t screw up the neighbourhood watch initiative!

Jessie: Resolutions are for fools darling she has all the time in the world (but might work on learning a new language, keep her busy).

Jeremy: Finish writing that song. 

List one or more characters you have never interacted with that you would like to do so

Mitte. I think maybe it’s time for vampire Auntie to meet Mitte. Or who knows maybe she just wants to snack on Hercules, either way, it’s time!

Robbie: I think there could be something really juicy with exploring the dynamic between a current / previous vampire, and like, so many life experiences. Plus Jessie would be so intrigued by his story. 

Finn: I think, given that Jeremy is a member of the Nemo appreciation squad, maybe he should start meeting some more of Nemo’s friends and building new relationships. 

Arista: Listen I just think she’s neat, ok?

Talk a bit about your plotting style – what plots are you most drawn to? Do you prefer to come with a fully-formed idea and plot off that, or throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks?

In terms of the development process, I tend to approach people with a vague idea worked out, but with room for flexibility to account for how people think their characters would actually act/respond.

A lot of my idea generation is very responsive though, especially when it comes to ‘bigger’ plots, and I feel very shy about actually approaching people about them. So I want to get better at approaching people and offering my characters - what’s the worst that happens, they say no it doesn’t work with what is already planned?

As for plots I am drawn to, I love gradual growth, I love people to have development - usually for the better because I am a softie - but with lots of hurdles along the way. I also enjoy the every-day, the mundane, the real-world and how that can complement much bigger events.

Talk a bit about character relationships – what relationship are you most drawn to? How do you prefer to approach shipping (if at all!)? What, specifically, are you looking for right now for your character relationships? 

I love ‘double take’ dynamics - where there are superficial similarities, with differences underneath (but then maybe, actually, similarities again underneath that?). I equally LOVE friends and friendships as may be quite obvious. 

I love romantic relationships but have some baggage. I often get a sense of chemistry quite quickly, and am trying to be better at setting out my clear ‘I have felt this… maybe you feel the same?’ stall. I struggle slightly with a tendency to want ‘endgame’ ships and struggling with relationships that maybe aren’t supposed to work out but it’s something to push myself with and get used to plotting with clear boundaries and just enjoying those shorter relationships and how you can use it to develop characters and different dynamics!

I have alluded in the past to having been burned a bit when it comes to shipping when I have had muns lose interest and had their characters dump mine without even telling me, or where communication has broken down and so other muns have lost interest and started other relationships. I am trying to be much better with communication from my end, and really appreciate people being clear with me  - so feel free to talk it over with me (which of course goes for everything, not just shipping!)

As for what I’m looking for currently - I think Herc could do with some more dating, something I intend to do whether played out or just hc’d with NPCs to work more on his hang ups around relationships etc. Jeremy is working things out, so will need his friends around him and I can’t wait to see him starting to talk about things at the moment. Jessie… Yeah some more petty enemies I think, she has a pocket of people she ‘tolerates’ which can give the false impression that she likes people. She hates most.  

Talk about your dash reply style and your Discord reply style! (And if applicable, also your doc reply style). What do you like about each type of interaction? What is something you feel is difficult? 

Dash - I tend to try to do a set on each character per day, working chronologically from oldest owed. I will sometimes mess things around if I have, e.g. 6 replies to do for Laur that are chronologically the next owed, then I will spread them out a little to ensure I reply to other people and don’t dump tonnes of replies on one person in one day.

Discord - I am trying to not take on too many threads in any one event/day, because then I tend to lose them and get overwhelmed. Instead, having a few that I think about more is a better move for me. Honestly, sometimes I will forget in the morning etc., so always feel free to nudge me.

Docs - this depends on the nature of the thing. I include them in my tracker now, but will often put them to the back of the list to ensure I post on the dash, which I should get better at not doing. Obviously this is different if it is a time-sensitive / needs to be prioritised for plot reasons.

Plotting Exercise! Pick one of the resolutions/goals in #3 and plan a rough guideline to how you could accomplish it. Here’s an example.

EVY calls Herc because something has been disturbing her bins at night. Herc comes round and takes a look, but can’t see any signs of anything obvious - he sets them right and tries to reassure Evy that it is probably nothing (this would be a lot more reassuring if Evy couldn’t hear him thinking I wish I knew what I was doing…)

Part B - Evy calls Herc again, the noises are back! This time he rushes round only to discover … it’s just some cats. The Nihon cats like to wind up Figaro by hanging around and Evy throws out some good trash. Herc shoos them off, and then has a cup of tea with Evy and does reassure her.

Infuriated by ANNIE’s latest SSHIIT edict, SMEE & HOOK (tbh Drakken & Sarina would also work amazingly for this) decide to have some fun. They leave fake animal footprints all around their property, start disturbing bins, flowerbeds etc, then call Herc out and watch as he flounders, clueless about what could have left the tracks and how to keep it away. 

Unable to work out what the tracks were made by on his own, Herc calls in a favour from SHERE, who takes a look at the photos Herc has of the tracks. He is able to identify them, but thinks the behaviour sounds very odd. 

Worried about what might be lurking around their homes, Herc turns to ANNIE - who tells him to Handle! It! Herc! She’s busy! Go see the Sheriff if you’re so worried!

So he goes to CLAYTON and alerts him that there might be a dangerous animal in Southern Isles - things have continued to go missing from gardens, bins, flowerbeds, etc still being disturbed, weird noises in the bushes at night, animals getting upset. This is the last thing Clayton needs, but he agrees to send some deputies on more regular patrols and endorses Herc’s ‘community advice’ about people being careful at night. (SMEE and HOOK think Huh… that’s weird. We got bored of faking this stuff ages ago … uh oh.)

EVY calls Herc again - something is back, outside, scaring Figaro and it sounds way too loud to be the Nihon cats again! Hercules rushes around, scared Evy is going to be attacked only to find… a dog! A big, stray dog, that has been roaming around living out of peoples bins, digging up flowerbeds, stealing laundry off lines etc. Herc manages to calm him down and catch him.

Herc takes the dog to GREG, and explains the whole situation. They scan it for a microchip/check the dog over etc. Herc seriously considered whether he should adopt the dog, but ultimately decides that he is not in a position to look after a dog at the moment with work, but that he would like one in the future.

Oooh, I'm so here to spill the tea.

So the book It Ends With Us was written by Colleen Hoover. The only nice thing I can say about the book that it was the best trashy entertainment while I was having a bottle of wine and that the writing flows actually nicely. The main character is Lily Blossom Bloom who owns a flower shop (shocker) and meets this rich neurosurgeon, and they insta fall in love. (Their first sex scene starts with her saying no and him still putting his hands in her panties, btw, so yea, great book). Everything is picture perfect until the MC guy starts being abusive over the smallest of things (like her laughing at him accidentally burning himself with the stove), and we learn that Lily grew up in an abusive household and she witnessed her dead hurt her mom multiple times. During her childhood, Lily wrote letters to Ellen Degeneres (???) and every letter ended with "just keep swimming" because Ellen was the voice actress for Dory in Finding Nemo.

Lily also had a childhood best friend/first love named Atlas who magically ✨️ reappeared in her life after 10 years, which made the rich guy MC be at his abusive high peak and Lily was about to leave him for the fifth time when she found out that she's preggo (nearly threw the book away at this point). But credit where credit is due, Lily doesn't go back to her abusive baby daddy and decides to end this cycle of abuse - cue the title It Ends With Us.

And now they made a movie adaptation with Blake Lively as Lily, and they're trying to sell the movie like it's some flowery, romancy love story when it's supposed to be about this very deep message about domestic violence. That also sounded very much like Franny Robinson, who had stayed the same since Hatter had known her since she had first moved to this town, before she had hit it big, but back then it had only been a matter of time. The ‘Forced Mentorship’ Plot: an exploration

AKA: writing is hard and I really like This Type of story

You know, stories like Soul, Brother Bear, Logan, Up, Stranger Things, Gravity Falls, etc.

The: “grumpy old man forced to work with a young person and slowly softens” ☺️

Alright folks, I’m learning some things I think you guys would benefit from knowing, especially if you are going to try to write a story like this!

So, to start out: Don’t do the story arc thing.

No. No, bad. It’s not as helpful for novel length stories, and it’s really easy to get things in the wrong place? Do you see how this person organized Finding Nemo? It’s completely off!

We’re using this, more,,, mountain range (?) plotline. Obviously, this isn’t the only sort of plot. But, most stories fit well in this, and it’s more helpful for a writer.

Most important are the False Hope and Low Point points, which the simpler arc doesn’t have. I’ll explain in better detail in a bit.

The Forced Mentorship Plot has a few additional points that make it specific to this type of story. I’ve got those additions in pink. You can click on it to read in detail. i know, it’s small.

So let’s look at some examples: I have,,, a bunch. I got excited. Disclaimer: I haven’t seen some of these in a bit, so some stuff might be a little vague, but you get the idea.

I know, I know that is way too much information. Let’s break it down.

The inciting incident:

Forced Mentorship stories force the old protagonist into a guardian-like with the young protagonist

Soul: joe dies and has to work with 22 to get an earth pass

Brother bear: kenai is turned into a bear and has to work with Koda to get to the mountain

Up: Carl’s house floats off to the wrong place, and Russel is on the porch. He has to work with Russel to get to Paradise Falls

Rising action

The characters have various adventures as they journey somewhere. Positive things work toward solving the problem

The FATAL FLAW of the older character will cause most of the problems, at the expense of the younger protagonist. For example: marlin refuses to take risks, and will not go through the scary trench. As a result, they run into jelly fish and Dory is hurt. Every short sighted decision that the older protagonist makes as the Older One, results in getting further from the goal, and hurting the younger person physically or emotionally

False hope

This is also called the Mid Point in the rising action. Here, older protagonist is introduced to a new Very positive element that seems like it is going to solve their problem.

Soul: they get to Moonwind. He has the elements set out to put them in their bodies.

Logan: they stay the night with a kind farmer and his family after a car accident, and things seem safe

Finding Nemo: the pelican knows Nemo!

Immediate Very bad consequence

This is the worst thing to happen so far in the story. The thing they thought would help is actually harmful. At this point, usually several bad things happen at once.

Up: muntz is evil and wants to kill the bird Kevin. Russel is upset at Carl

Soul: 22 runs off. Terry catches up to them

Logan: the bad guys catch up to them, Xavier is killed

Temporary escape and achieving the original goal

The protags will manage to get out of immediate danger, but at this point, the younger protagonist realizes they don’t want to go with the plan of the older protagonist any more, they strike out on their own. Meanwhile, the older protagonist finally gets what they wanted

Up: Russel leaves to get Kevin

Brother bear: Koda learns that Kenai killed his mother, and he runs off. Kenai starts up the mountain

Logan: they reach the border and Gabriela goes with the others cross the border

Finding Nemo: Marlin returns to the ocean, thinking his son is dead, and starts home, leaving Dory behind

Low Point

Older protagonist has what they wanted, but at the cost of their relationship with their new friend. They find this new life meaningless, actually

Soul: joe preforms and is unsatisfied after

Logan: he’s alone now, like he thought he needed to be

Up: Carl gets to Paradise Falls

Realization

older protagonist comes to a realization, prompted by a symbolic object previously introduced, and they choose to do the right thing, change their ways, and save the younger protagonist.

Their choice will cost the older protagonist everything, but they will give it willingly for the younger protagonist.

Soul: joe is inspired by 22’s collection of items every time she saw someone ‘jazzing’ and realizes that life isn’t about a ‘thing’ you do, but just living. He was wrong about 22

Brother Bear: kenai fights and sacrifices himself to save koda, who he loves.

Logan: Logan realizes it’s a trap and takes the serum to be stronger so he can save Gabriela, killing himself in the process.

There is a final big fight, but we’re not worried anymore. They are going to win. In the end, loose ends are tied, and the mentor becomes and Actual mentor to the young person

Some notes:

the older protagonist is different from the typical ‘mentor’ archetype in a few ways. The ‘mentor’ is the main character, not the young character. The story cannot go on once the older character is dead So, the mentor doesn’t die to ‘spur on’ the younger character. Like Obi-Wan, for example. Obi-Wan is not a forced mentor character. If he Was, the story would probably have to Start from his point of view, and End at his death, which would somehow fulfill his flaw.

Alright. So yeah, that’s my research on the Forced Mentorship sort of story.

The doorbell rang Friday night as you were popping popcorn in the microwave for family movie night.

“I’ll get it,” you called out, walking to the front door.

You opened it to see Penelope standing there. She immediately grabbed your hand and started tugging.

“You’re coming with me, soon-to-be Mrs. Reid,” she tried to drag you out of the house.

“Spencer! Code pink! Code pink!” you yelled.

You heard Spencer dashing towards the front door.

“You’re not taking her anywhere,” Spencer wrapped his arm around your waist.

“It’s bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other the day of the wedding,” Penelope stomped her high heel in protest.

“Yes, we knew you would say that so we bought these,” you and Spencer held up sleep masks, “Me and Spence will put these on before we go to bed. I’ll set my alarm 15 minutes before his so I will be up and out of the room, headed to Rossi’s before he even sees me. No bad luck and I still get to sleep with my fiancé, everyone’s happy!”

“I should have known you guys would find a loophole. You even had a whole code name,” Penelope huffed.

“I’m sorry, Pen,” you laughed, “I will see you in the morning.”

You gave her a big hug before she returned to her car.

“A brilliant idea if I do say so myself, Dr. Reid,” you grinned.

He leaned down to kiss you as Jo shouted “you’re missing Nemo.”

You fumbled to swipe your phone alarm off without actually being able to see it.

Once you got it off, you felt Spencer’s arms tighten around you.

“Keep that blindfold on, mister,” you demanded.

You felt Spencer’s arms slowly retract from around you after giving you one final squeeze.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought,” you giggled.

“Bye, love you,” he tried to kiss you but ended up kissing your nose.

You put your hand flat on his face to find his lips and then guided yourself to them.

“I can not wait to marry you,” you whispered after pulling away.

“10 hours,” he whispered back and you could feel his smile as you went in for another kiss.

You slowly got out of bed and crawled towards the door to avoid hitting anything. However, you slammed your head right into the door.

“Ouch!” you rubbed the top of your head.

Spencer sat up in bed, still with his blindfold on, “Love, are you okay?”

“Yep, I found the door,” you laughed, “I will see you at the aisle.”

“I can not wait to be reduced to a blubbering, crying mess in front of my closest friends and family,” Spencer smiled.

You felt around for the door knob and opened it, taking off your blindfold once you were out of the room. You picked up your bag that you had set outside your door with all of your skincare and makeup before heading out the door to Rossi’s.

By the time you had gotten there, the driveway was full of trucks and vans dropping off decorations and setting up the canopy and tables.

The second you rang the doorbell, you were pulled inside by JJ and Emily who were already in their dresses.

“You both look gorgeous!” you exclaimed as they dragged you up the stairs.

“Here’s a muffin,” JJ said as she sat you down.

Emily was already assessing your hair and combing it out.

“Penelope told us what you did last night,” Emily smiled, “I think it was extremely adorable.”

JJ nodded in agreement as she pulled the makeup products out of your bag.

“I would just feel weird if I was away from him for a night now since we are so used to being right next to each other. Speaking of Pen, where is she?” you asked.

“She needed to make sure they put the lattice trellis in the right place so the sun would set directly behind it,” JJ informed you.

You and Spencer would be getting married in front of a lattice trellis covered in vines and an assortment of flowers right at sunset.

“What would I do without her and you guys?” you laughed.

Spencer groggily answered the door to see Derek standing there, holding both of their tuxes.

“Ready to get married, Pretty Boy?” he grinned.

“Yes,” Spencer rubbed his eyes to wipe away the tiredness, “Let me wake Jo up.”

Spencer walked back up the stairs and opened Jo’s door, sitting at the edge of her bed.

“Time to get up, Princess,” he whispered, “You get to wear your new dress today.”

Jo’s eyes shot open and she got out from underneath the covers, revealing she was already in fact in her dress.

“You got up already?” Spencer laughed, picking her up.

“I tricked you, Daddy,” she giggled.

“Yes, you did,” Spencer smiled, “There’s someone here to see you.”

“Uncle Derek!” Jo exclaimed.

“Jo!” Derek shouted, accepting the little girl into his arms, “Well, don’t you look nice. Auntie Penelope was telling me how excited she is to do your hair later.”

Jo nodded enthusiastically.

“You get ready,” Derek pushed the tux into Spencer’s arms, “I’ll get Jo breakfast.”

You stood at the back of the line in front of the glass double doors leading out to Rossi’s backyard.

As the violins and piano began to softly play, you heard Penelope say, “Jo, go see your Dad.”

The doors opened to let Jo out, holding her basket of white rose petals.

You sneakily watched from a nearby window as Jo took her job very seriously, throwing a handful of petals every other step and then taking a seat in the front row next to Henry and Will.

JJ, Emily, and Penelope all proceeded down the aisle one by one, standing on the opposite side of Derek and Rossi who were standing next to Spencer.

You ran back from the window to in front of the doors, grabbing your bouquet from the table. You had decided to walk down the aisle alone. Your parents were in the audience here to support you but you were your own woman, you didn’t need to be “given away” to Spencer.

The doors opened for the final time and you stepped out. Spencer turned to face you and you could see the tears already glistening in his eyes.

You smiled and mouthed ‘I love you’ as you walked down the aisle and he mouthed ‘I love you too’ as the tears quickly began to form in your eyes as well.

You took your spot in front of Spencer and Jo waved to you both which elicited a small chuckle from the crowd.

“Hi, baby,” you waved back.

You don’t even think Spencer noticed because his eyes were laser-focused on you.

“Shall we begin?” Hotch asked and you both nodded.

“I would like to thank everyone for being here to help Y/N and Spencer celebrate this special day in which they attest to their love for one another. Spencer, would you like to read your vows first?”

Spencer nodded, “I have never admitted this to her until now but the first time I spoke to Y/N is because I offered her a sweatshirt. I actually brought that sweatshirt to the library with me that day, hoping the pretty girl who was always shivering would finally have a reason to acknowledge me. That was the single best decision of my life. Unfortunately, a little over a year later, I made the single worst decision of my life by letting you go,” Spencer started to get choked up, “I honestly think my ‘genius’ title should be taken away for that alone. Somehow, I was graced with the opportunity to come back into your life even though I didn’t deserve it. And your life now revolved around one particular little girl that I grew to love more than I thought was ever possible. So, I just wanted to say scientists learn from their mistakes so while I can’t promise I won’t make any more in the future, I can tell you for sure that I will never let go again.”

“Oh wow,” you sniffled, taking a kleenex and your little journal from Penelope, “How am I supposed to top that?”

“I really don’t care what you have to say, you marrying me is more than enough,” he whispered.

“Oh my god, you’re still coming up with better vows than me on the spot,” you whispered back.

“Much like Spencer, I also wrote about our first encounters in college. Spencer and I quickly formed an unspoken agreement that we would always meet at the same table in the library. One night, when he was taking the time to repeatedly explain to me a calculus concept I just wasn’t getting even though I knew he had a paper due tonight, I thought to myself ‘this one is too good to let get away’. So at our next meeting, I ordered takeout from his favorite restaurant and set up a little dinner for us. It was all worth it when I saw him walk in with his textbooks only to be soon lost for words when I asked him if he would go on a date with me. I never really dated anyone in the time we were apart, I just had this feeling that our story was far from over and I’m so so glad that feeling was right. I promise I will never stop loving you, no matter what, because I don’t think I could even if I tried” you stated.

“Spencer, with this ring, do you take Y/N to love and to hold, to cherish and respect her in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, from this day forward?” Hotch asked.

“I do,” Spencer smiled as you slipped the band on to his ring finger.

“Y/N, with this ring, do you take Spencer to love and to hold, to cherish and respect him in sickness and in health, in sorrow and in joy, from this day forward?” Hotch repeated.

“Absolutely I do.”

Spencer slipped the ring on your finger.

“By the power vested in me by the state of Virginia, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride,” Hotch smiled.

Spencer cupped your cheeks, pulling you as close as he could and kissing you deeply. Everyone cheered as you both interlocked your hands and headed down the aisle.

As soon as you were inside, Spencer pulled you in for a more passionate, sloppy kiss.

“I didn’t want an audience for that,” he grinned, pulling you back in.

“Bleh,” you heard Derek say, who had Penelope on his arm, “Do you guys need to go home already?”

“No, we can wait a few more hours,” you giggled but Spencer whined.

JJ and Will had offered to take Jo for the night so you and Spencer had the house to yourself. You had opted for just spending one night away from Jo rather than a long honeymoon. You were going to take a family vacation all together instead.

A few minutes later, you heard Penelope and Derek announce on the microphone, “Now introducing for the first time ever, Dr. and Mrs. Reid!”

You exited the glass doors once again, holding you and Spencer's interlocked hands up in the air as everyone cheered under the big white canopy with fairy lights.

“Please clear the dance floor for their first dance together as husband and wife,” Penelope smiled.

Bloom by The Paper Kites faded in as Spencer’s arms wrapped around your waist. You rested your head against his chest and wrapped your hands around the back of his neck.

You felt him rubbing small circles on your side with his thumb as he planted a kiss on the top of your head.

“I love you so much, my husband,” you whispered.

“I love you more, my wife,” he smiled.

You swayed gently back and forth until the music faded out. Spencer leaned down and kissed you as you stopped swaying. You completely forgot you were in front of an audience until you pulled away from Spencer and the crowd erupted into a cheer.

You looked into the audience to see Diana twirling Jo around in a circle. Luckily, an aid was able to bring her on such short notice.

After everyone had enjoyed the banquet, Hotch and Emily took the microphone this time.

“Time for the cutting of the cake!” they cheered.

You and Spencer both stood from the main table to go get the first pieces. You both held the knife together, cutting out two pieces.

You grabbed the plate that your slice was on and gently shoved it into Spencer’s nose, laughing as he pulled the plate away, his face covered in white frosting.

“You think that’s funny?” he grinned, grabbing his piece and pressing it into your face.

You continued your giggling fit as he cut another piece.

“Princess, come here!” he called out.

Jo ran up, eager to get a first taste of the cake and you and Spencer pressed another piece right into her face.

Bucky is so competent that it hurts my feelings is not a rational complaint to have about a person, and yet, after a year of being Captain America and partnering up with Bucky for the new and improved, post-Blip Avengers, that’s kinda how Sam’s feeling.

It’s not great. It maybe leads to Sam making some rash, ill-advised decisions like claiming he has a previously undisclosed superpower, and then getting caught in a web of lies when he ends up actually developing that surprisingly inconvenient superpower. Talking to birds had seemed like a harmless superpower, but it turns out that birds have a lot of opinions, and they don’t hesitate to tell Sam about them, especially when it comes to his supposedly subpar courting skills. Which is ridiculous, because Sam isn’t courting Bucky. Right?

Author Interview: Writing and Publishing Tips from Emily Shore

Author Emily Shore met with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and shared how she stays motivated when writing, along with tips about her writing and publishing processes. Emily started publishing The Uncaged Series with KDP in 2019 and in June 2021 found success publishing on Kindle Vella with the Bride of the Corpse King. Since June she regularly publishes episodes of Bride of the Corpse King which is a Top Faved Kindle Vella story.

Q: Hi, Emily! First things first, could you tell us a little about yourself and what genre you usually write? A: I’m a cult survivor, a proud bisexual feminist, and my work is #1 in the Kindle Vella “Fantasy Romance” category out of 10,000 authors. My goal is to entertain and empower by featuring queer casts in my books. I’m currently building my publishing options through Kindle Vella as a Top Ten author for my Bride of the Corpse King: A Hades and Persephone Retelling fantasy romance. I am also a Top 100 Kindle Author of the YA anti-trafficking dystopian: The Uncaged Series. For the past decade, I’ve trained with international and local anti-trafficking organizations and worked as an awareness speaker all over Minnesota: churches, youth and retreat centers, and conferences attended by thousands of educators and librarians. My passion is to celebrate queer and empower female audiences, including my two daughters. 

Q: What is your typical writing process (although most writing processes are far from typical!)?

A: To be honest, I just sit down and do it. I’m a locomotive, and I am able to write 3,000–10,000 words in one sitting depending on my time and health issues. Then, I do a quick-and-dirty edit, a silent line-by-line edit, then I read my work out loud line-by-line to catch any errors. Finally, another quick-and-dirty edit to eliminate any filler words. Q: You have paperback/hardcover, eBooks, and have recently starting publishing with Kindle Vella. Do you have any advice for authors looking to expand their publishing portfolio? How does the process differ between the three publishing options? A: I have found a wonderful home with Kindle Vella for my Bride of the Corpse King: A Hades and Persephone Retelling. It requires a great amount of marketing, grassroots movement, building a loyal readership, offering giveaways and fun content, and most of all: time. It has required much hard work to balance writing consistent serialized content while juggling blogging and marketing on social media. I have done this under extremely stressful health circumstances, but I choose to believe my writing and my books are worthy of their place leading in multiple Vella categories. I also love the writing community there and have made friends with top-five author E.H. Blackwell, an indie bestie. I love Kindle Vella, which is supplementing our family's cancer medical bills and gifting me a silver lining during my extreme health issues.

Q: How do you stay inspired?

A: Everything inspires me. This is my career. But it's also been my dream since I was a budding author. It's my passion. It's who I am and what I do. A forever writer, I was born with an author's heart and soul! I have a message, I have a voice, and that makes me worthy to share! Q: If you could go back and tell your pre-published self one thing about the writing and publishing process, what would it be?

A: Channeling Dory from Finding Nemo: Just keep writing, just keep writing…Seriously, don't listen to the haters. Growth will come. Resistance will come. But breakthroughs will also come. Despite how literary agents will hurt you, you will overcome and learn from trial and error. I am proud of you. I know you will never quit!

I love the Night Riots and it took me a hot second to figure out what I thought this song was about? My original idea was malicious and I decided against it and went with Hotch and Jack instead but that's not to say this is... better. I think the original meaning is more romantic but it's never struck me as a romantic song so I didn't write it that way (but I'd write it that way if you'd like)

The divorce happened long before Jack could remember. His first memories are of his parents apart. His mother liked the park. Climbing up on the slides and pushing him too high on the swings. She was adventurous and thriving, every moment he spent with her was packed with a new plan. A new trip. His father didn’t enjoy the loud screams of the other children, got nervous around the parents. He preferred the museum. Jack can remember sitting on his shoulders, his father’s trembling hand outstretched in front of them as he explained a painting or an artifact. There is a single memory that he has of them together.

There’s a bruise across his father’s eye, bleeding down into his lip. The colors are distorted, yellow and purple. A rainbow across his pale skin. Jack touches it curiously, tries to rub it off with his thumb but his mother pulls him away. She redirects him to the playground and promises they’ll follow after in a moment, go play. He remembers looking back at them, shouting for them at the top of the slide. He’d been so overjoyed at the sight of them together he hadn’t cared why. They’d waved back and he went on. He looked back at them several times. His father so small tucked against his mother’s side, her fingers soothing back his cowlicks back the same gentle way she does with Jack’s hair.

After she died, he spent a lot of time with other people. Over the course of the seventy-nine days following the death of his mother, he saw his father once, at the funeral. He had just come out of the bathroom, Jessica caving to his light tantrum and letting him go by himself. He walked straight into Emily.

“Oh,” she said softly. With a rustle of her dress, she knelt down beside him. “I was wondering where it was you were hiding,” she whispered. She had been the last familiar face he saw before they went into Witsec. She sat outside his father’s hospital room and talked to him, tried to be louder than his parents only a few feet away. It was her that assured him his father looked rather poorly but was okay, she would take care of him. She and Uncle Dave would make sure he would be okay. She’d been waving when he looked back over his shoulder at the hospital, he’d watched her disappear from the car window.

Jack hadn’t seen his father since. Has no memory of being pulled out of the box or talking to him on the phone minutes before that fateful shot.

Jack squirms, discomfort twisting his stomach in a way he doesn’t know how to explain. He knows he’ll be in trouble if he’s caught talking to her. Grandpa won’t be happy. “Do you know where Aunt Jess is?” he asks instead, looking around Emily to try and find her.

Emily shakes her head, “no sweetheart, I don’t. Why don’t we try to find her?”

Emily led him around the hall by the hand and that’s when Jack sees him. All he can see is his back but Jack knows it’s him. He wants to run over, to shout his name, and be pulled into one of his crushing hugs but he stays grappled to Emily. As if sensing him close, Hotch turns. They look at each other for a long moment, neither moving nor calling for the other.

He tells Jessica later as she’s tucking him into bed.

“Why didn’t you say hi, honey? That would have made his day.”

Jack hides his face in his pillow, shakes his head. No, it wouldn’t have.

They passed him around. He spent nine days with his grandparents and he learned quickly not to ask for his mother or father. Neither would be coming to get him. He played in the backyard and talked to them, shadows of them that he imagined there. His father laying on a picnic blanket, reading some old dusty book that smells weird, and his mother encouraging him to kick the ball back. With the sun on his back, he could nearly imagine them here. How it would feel to have his mother kiss his face again, to be held tightly to her chest until he begs to be put back down. To lay down beside his father, his head on his chest, and listening to the rumble of his voice through the rattling of his ribs.

He spends thirteen consecutive days with Jessica. She promised him his father was coming. “Give him time, sweetheart. He’s coming.”

Nearly a month. Jack stops hoping. He stops dreaming about those sunny days in the yard. Long days at the park and the way the world shifts when he’s atop his father’s shoulders looking down. Twenty-six days and his father shows up with a knock at the door. He was left with the neighbor, his grandparents, and Jess both having to leave. They come home in a fury, no one speaks to him as his clothes are packed. His toys were thrown in a suitcase.

His father looks so different. Tall and willowy, his limbs hanging down in a somber haunted curtain. His hands were in bandages, shaking at his sides. The same suit he wore to court that day hanging off of him. Jack hadn’t run immediately to him. He looked to his grandparents, huddled by the stairs and angry. To Jessica with tears in her eyes. He wasn’t sure if he was allowed to go or even if he should.

“Jack?” his father simply knelt to the floor. Forced his body into something smaller, sinking to the same height as his son. He looked more like a tired beast falling to the ground, a great huffing dying thing giving up its fight. “I missed you, buddy.” His voice cracks, his lip trembles but he doesn’t cry. “Do you--” he has to clear his throat. Has to wipe his eyes. “If you’d like we can go to my house now.”

Jack looks to his grandparents again, he doesn’t understand what’s happening.

Hotch smiles, tears seeping down his face, “you don’t have to come with me.” He tries to sound encouraging, to make it sound like he’s okay with whatever Jack chooses. If he’d rather stay with his grandparents that’s okay but it won’t be. Hotch can’t go home to that empty apartment again. He can’t keep living with his son torn away. “You can stay here, Jack.”

Jack shakes his head, anxiously he brings his fingers to his mouth. He looks to his grandparents again, to Jess expecting someone to tell him what to do. “You want me to?” he asks softly. “To go with you?”

Hotch chokes on a sob, nods his head when he can’t trust himself to say yes.

Jack runs to him, collides right into his chest, and pushes his face into his father’s shirt. Clings to him.

Hotch cups Jack’s head closer, sobbing no matter how badly he wishes he could maintain his control. He hasn’t seen his son in months. He’d felt the rejection and the fear in his eyes when they saw each other at the funeral, how clear it was that Jack wasn’t even sure that Hotch loved him.

Foyet had taken Jack but Hotch had pushed him away and then he nearly lost him. Haley’s parents wanted him, proper retribution for killing their daughter and he had nearly nothing to hold himself upright with. No rights to claim Jack. Could he name Jack’s favorite cartoon? Did he know Jack’s favorite color? Hotch hadn’t seen him in so long. He knew that Jack only ate the banana snacks when he was a baby. He slept with a nightlight of a firetruck and a stuffed bear named Nemo, who was sometimes also called other names depending on Jack’s mood. That at four his favorite color was yellow because that’s what Haley’s favorite color was. That Jack didn’t watch cartoons because he only ever wanted to watch Finding Nemo and Brother Bear. So no, no he didn’t know any of those things. Not anymore. He chose to keep his son alive over keeping him nearby, close enough to learn those things.

He thought the courts would rule with Haley’s parents.

He’s in no mental place to be raising a son on his own. His apartment is a mass of boxes as Roy had coldly pointed out, they’d been separated for nearly two years and he still hadn’t unpacked. He didn’t deserve it but he won.

“I thought--” Jack hiccups into his shoulder, fingers clenching Hotch’s jacket as tight as he can. “I thought you didn’t love me anymore.”

Hotch shakes his head, tries to pull Jack closer. Tighter. “No,” he promises, hoarsely. “No, buddy, I’d never stop loving you.”

Ash (Undergloom Sans): Very savvy and up on all the most popular memes, scrolling through memes is an activity very low on the ‘activity’ part and great for when he’s feeling a little too tired to do anything else. He’s very into tiktoks, which help him keep up to date on the latest meme songs-- some of which he might try to learn to play on his own. In general, he’s also into memes with funny or weird-looking animals (frogs, possums, axolotls, etc), no specific kind of meme, the presence of a goofy-looking creature in it is usually good enough to get a smile or a chuckle out of him.

Yrus (Undergloom Papyrus): Not all that up to date on the meme scene, he’s usually busy with other things... but! He really loves relatable memes, especially ones about procrastination or not being able to focus on work or having to do chores, everyday mundane irritations that everybody can relate to! He also thinks reading comprehension errors are great harmless fun (i.e., “my bad i thought u said moths”), just silly misunderstandings that make for confusing interactions until someone realizes.

Brick (Horrorfell Sans): Doesn’t always remember every meme, but he gets the gist of most of them. His favorites are the MS Paint memes, usually the more poorly drawn, the better (but a fan of pretty much every catcrumb image he sees, those chaotic little cats are great). He can also be caught laughing himself to wheezing and banging on the table over completely bizarre and out of context interactions--for some reason, they just hit right on the funny bone and he has no defense against them. (The ‘Nyquil Detroit Become Liquid’ post nearly killed him, but he would’ve thanked it.)

King (Horrorfell Papyrus): Not too interested in memes. He’s peripherally aware of them but rarely knows the latest trends or cares to know them. He does have a slight fondness for evil memes--ones about being evil or having an evil lair or just have the word ‘evil’ as an adjective in front of something else seemingly incongruous--he finds them silly and they can usually win at least a smirk out of him when he happens to come across one. If you want a laugh, though, find him some of those screenshots of old newspapers from the 30s-50s, formally written humor that still holds up even now (like The Windsor Star, Ontario, November 1, 1958, The Cincinnati Enquirer, Ohio, February 21, 1947, or Barnard Bulletin, New York, December 20, 1935). Sensible chuckles abound from those!

Merc (Horrorswap Sans): Not too into memery, he’s definitely got a lot of other things going on and isn’t always online. Still, he is a fan of stuff like one-time-i-dreamt and other accounts of peoples’ dreams or thought processes. He thinks it’s interesting, the little peek into the wandering, strange, and sometimes funny subconscious, or how people think about love and tenderness and nostalgia and remind others to appreciate those things, too. It’s a very niche, wholesome sort of enjoyment for sure... but not to worry! If you’re looking for something more mainstream and ‘haha funny,’ he also got very into the whole ‘Surprise! It’s cake!’ meme trend that was going on for awhile and is still delighted to find a video where a realistic object is cut into and turns out to be cake. He’s definitely going to make one himself, maybe as a social media marketing thing for his home business...

Ell (Horrorswap Papyrus): Very meme savvy and tends toward some of the maybe darker types of humor--stress and anxiety memes, introvert memes, et cetera. Animated text is a big one he likes, with enough of a mix of pessimist and optimist memes that he doesn’t come away from checking it actually bummed out or feeling bad, a fine line to walk to be sure. He also likes coding and programming humor! He’s still kinda teaching himself, so he definitely doesn’t get them all, but it gives him a little sense of accomplishment and community when he does, which he really likes.

Pitch (Horrorswapfell Sans): Not interested in memes, and a lot of them are heavily based on visuals which, unfortunately, he’s going to miss the context. Still, he does get a hell of a kick out of brazen and blatant misinformation--the smooth sharks post, facts-i-just-made-up, and the like--and finds it hilarious when someone insists something that is obviously untrue, especially if a lot of people aren’t getting the joke and are trying fervently to convince them of their wrongness. He’s also a little bit evil, so whenever he learns a new piece of whatever slang is popular and in at the moment, he’s going to use it incorrectly, or use outdated slang to induce cringe in those around him. ‘Totes yeet yo’? Yes. ‘That is so pog, as the kids say’? Of course. ‘It’s lit, fam’? Definitely, who do you take him for? The cringier, the better, he revels in the discomfort of others when he throws one of those babies out.

Nemo (Horrorswapfell Papyrus): Definitely knows a little bit about memes, not always the latest trends but his base knowledge is pretty good, and of course has his favorites. He loves John Mulaney references and reaction images, they just Speak to him, y’know? Outside of that, he’s very fond of day-of-the-week memes, Tuesday Again?, Out of Touch Thursday, Fat Fuck Friday and so on. Aside from being a useful reminder of what the hell day of the week it is, he likes the consistency and recurrence of it, just a silly little moment to look forward to at some point like, “oh yeah, it’s el muchacho monday, nice!”

Sunny (Gastertale Sans): Pretty wise to the meme scene overall, loves the fun and creativity of it all. If you want him to absolutely lose his shit, though, show him a terrible picture of an animal--by which I mean, poorly photoshopped, blurred, in mid-panoramic, as long as the end result is an absurd or very screwed up image. Why are things like ‘buff half cat’ and ‘dog but very, very long’ his sense of humor? He has no idea, but the worse it looks, the harder he laughs. He has a bit of a fondness for ‘gotcha’s too, like a Rickroll but really anything where you go into it expecting one thing, and get trolled by receiving something else. Aster (Gastertale Papyrus): Aware of memes, but not all that invested in them. He likes corporate and office/business memes a lot-- the kind that roast bosses and unnecessary meetings, translate ‘polite’ corporate phrases, anything to do with emails--because they can be very relatable. He also likes seeing screencaps of people on Facebook or Twitter getting dragged for misinformation, or trying to act like a pompous jerk and getting shredded (for legitimate reasons of course, not just random unprovoked cyberbullying). He...may be involved in a bit of that sometimes himself: he may not be working in a scientific field, but he is half of a scientist, and just petty enough to spend a few hours of his free time looking up and reading through a few credible sources to cite in a strong and well-crafted rebuttal argument if someone is being especially, dangerously wrong about something. Not everyone has the time and resources to do it, so why shouldn’t he? 😇

The terrified look on that woman’s face when Regina strokes her chin, looks at her longingly and tells her she loves her. Omg Regina was in love with this woman all along! It was never about Daniel. It was about Christina! I’m naming her Christina.

How did Tinker Bell get out of neverland? Pan decides when people leave, and I doubt he’d let her leave just to pay a visit with the Evil Queen. But then and again maybe it was all part of his big plan.

Actually, this visit from Tinker Bell is odd because she doesn’t seem angry at all like when she, like, wanted to kill Regina in 3x03. How did she go from, “okay. Also, this is the Evil Queen I like to see. So cold, terrifying and breaking on the inside. I’m not a fan of the humorous one in 6x02. I wish Split Queen was more like this as well. Ah different writers and director. Interesting.

I can see what sqers say about this scene. Regina really does look hurt by the notion of Emma getting married. There is no heterosexual reason for her to react like this unless she’s in love with Hook. I think this is the only time they hug. Man, I feel so bad for sqers because upon this rewatch I can really see where they are coming from with that interpretation. It’s definitely there. And then they hug because Emma’s getting married to someone else. I would be so upset if that was my otp. What am I talking about, I watched 10 seasons of Smallville as a hardcore Chloe x Clark shipper. I think this exact scenario played out and it freaking hurts! 

In other news, I am so in love with Snow. Have I mentioned that? I feel like I haven’t mentioned it in a while and it needs to be said.

Oh snap! Emma found Hook looking at himself killing her grandfather??! I completely forgot about this!

Why does she say, “That’s David’s father”? Why doesn’t she say, “That’s my grandfather,” or “That’s my dad’s dad”? She hasn’t called her dad ‘David’ in years. It’s like she’s trying to separate herself from the victim as much as possible.

She’s not even a little bit upset he killed her dad’s dad? That that event caused her father so much pain? She’s just infuriated that he tried to burn his memory. I mean, yes, she should be angry about that but where’s the empathy for her dad at least? I didn’t know any of my grandfathers well but if I found out I was engaged to someone who did that I would be angry for my grandparent, angry for my parent and angry for myself. I’m just speechless that that’s all she cares about. It seems so out of character. But then and again Regina had her other grandad killed. 

And now he’s gonna leave because he rightfully got told off. Can’t say I’d offer the same thing but she said, “until you’re ready” not “you’ll never be ready”, dude. 

I think he’s just scared David will punch him in the face at this point. It’s the only explanation for doing the exact opposite thing Emma asked of him.

My conversations with myself be like-

Oh boy. This is too reminiscent of conversations with myself. Yes, I sword fight myself wearing a fancy black, cleavage-revealing dress in my head all the time. Only joking, I wear trilby hats. 

Oh okay. Now they’re tying each other up. I see what this is really about. I still haven’t bleached the “we do like it rough, don’t we Regina?” line from my mind. 

I suppose she did take back some of her own darkness. But I was hoping she would just merge herself back together. That would have been a really predictable outcome, but I just would have preferred it. 

This scene is so weird lol, but it helped me tremendously. I used to hate myself so, so much. You don’t even understand. It was like a violent hatred for myself for not fitting in and for every single little mistake I’d ever made. Then with a lot of self- healing and the help of this episode I began my journey into loving myself. I wrote on a sticky note “Love yourself. If the Evil Queen can do it, so can you.” and stuck it to my wall. Nothing I’ve done is comparable to what the Evil Queen has done and if she can learn to love herself, why can’t everyone else. Anyone who’s struggling with self-hatred, please take this episode to heart. You are worthy of love, most importantly from yourself. Any time you find yourself hating yourself just try to remember this scene and that the flipping Evil Queen of all people recognised the importance of self-love and didn’t give a damn what anyone else thought. She damn well gave herself a chance. I’ve heard a good technique is looking in the mirror and telling yourself what you love about you. Even if you’re not feeling it at first, you could get into the habit of it and your brain will start to accept those words as true. Because they are true.

It’s like she’s having a therapy session with herself. I need to do that. I really do. Then I need to get actual therapy lol xD. But baby steps! 

Okay. A loophole as to how he can change Split Queen’s story. You know what, at this point I’ve learnt just to go with it.

I want to look at myself with the love and adoration Regina looks at herself with. We should all get to that point where we look like we’re about to intensely make out with ourselves when we look in the mirror. 

I know what they were doing with page 23. I just wish Split Queen had changed her outfit so it could have been exactly like the page illustration. But I don’t think it was meant to predict the future. It was just one of Isaac’s fanfictions, wasn’t it? Hmm. I think it was a mystery to him as well if I can remember correctly.

It’s nice that oq shippers got their ship in the end in one form.

Snow is just constantly high up to her eyeballs on hope, bless her.

2022 Resolutions!

Write your RPer Resolutions for 2022! (What are some goals for yourself as a writer? Improve descriptions? Plot with more members? Etc.)

-Plot with more members. Definitely this one! I think I do a good job rping with everyone, but I do a lot of one-offs, or spontaneous interactions if that makes sense. I could definitely improve on widening who I reach out to for specific plots. 

-Post more plot calls. That being said…maybe this is just one way to get at that second goal! Normally if I have an idea, I think about who could fit and then approach that person directly. Which is perfectly fine haha. But in the future I’d like to throw more ‘open plot calls’ out. I’ve definitely written more opens in general this year and loved what came out of it, so I think using the plot call discord will be super helpful to energizing my RP! 

-Post more one shots. I think I say this every year lol. And I mean, I did write a couple of things last year…but it’s an important goal of mine to have since writing long form is definitely a muscle I don’t want to lose. So yes, definitely want to do even more and not let my good ideas just remain in my head. 

-Get a character with super weird magic. This really might not happen this year– in fact I’m pretty sure it won’t, though I guess never say never lol. I’ve had this thought while watching MHA and also Clem mentioned the other day in a tag that we have a lot of the same magick types– which is totally fine btw and I find fascinating because I like exploring different facets of magic, like fairies or sorcerers. But I am kinda curious about getting a ‘gifted’ with a super off the wall power and examine THAT now. I have no solid idea about it at all lol but it’s just something I want to keep in mind while going forward!

I feel like I usually write broad goals here like, idk, confront your trauma lol, so I am going to be super specific in my goals, very plot centric and actionable

Olaf: I’d like for him to be put into a difficult spot as an RA. This feels like an open plot call opportunity. It would be cool if he has to be stern/be bad cop etc. 

Atta: I’d like to rp her at more events, specifically town hall ones. 

Pip: Write a pip one-shot too. I literally have it in my brain and i just keep not doing it and he deserves better ://////// 

Chip: Fail at one RAS mission. Succeed at one RAS mission! 

Amity: Complete the plot I have in mind by prom. Also, kiss a girl. WHOOPS i said it.

Merida: hang out with her friends more. This is very sweet of her i think she really does wanna make up for lost time.
