Can we have a complete principal cast prediction please?
sure ok:
valjean: i think it’ll be a well known theatre name. i noticed cedric neal has left back to the future which is Interesting. no idea what he’s like with more traditional musical theatre but it’s definitely within his range, he’s about the right age and he’s becoming a fairly big theatre name atm.
javert: now this im genuinely stumped by. there is a lack of baritones amongst the big west end names atm. it will have to be someone more established tho bc of the age requirement (30 plus) it could also be a familiar face returning? idk honestly.
marius: i honestly really think it’s gonna be rhys whitfield. if not they’ll probably go for some random 18 year old plucked out of nowhere again.
cosette & eponine: both recent mountview grads, maybe arts ed.
enjolras: i could see jordan wanting to stay tbh…if not rhys could also do this role or maybe someone from another cammack show like karl queensborough.
fantine: i think they’ll go for a bigger name again with this. not sure who though….will need to have a think.
thenardier: i see gavin lee is leaving beauty and the beast early. wonder if he’s finally gonna get a west end run as thenardier 👀
madame thenardier: no clue honestly.
other predictions:
joseph anthony will stay and become first cover enj.
chris jacobsen will stay and become alternate valjean again.
natalie green will stay but get moved to a different track.

Day 2
Characters: Eponine, Courfeyrac
Prompt: brazen (it’s not really in the story, because it decided to take an other direction but it’s somewhat included)
...
“Can I be the next? Can I?” Courfeyrac raised his hand so violently, he almost hit Bossuet in the face.
“Okay, sure, choose a number” Grantaire nodded, then proceeded to shuffle through his papers to get to the appropriate question. “Uh, this will potentially be very awkward” he remarked.
“Ah, yes, read the question!” Courfeyrac leaned forward excitedly.
“Okay, you asked for it” Grantaire shrugged. “When did Eponine become friends with Courfeyrac?”
“Oh, come on, this one is easy! When you first brought her along to hang out with us and I ordered her seventeen-years-old self some alcohol as any responsible adult friend would do.”
“Ponine?” Grantaire turned to the girl sitting with her back against Bahorel’s at the other end of the room.
“Well, no. Actually, I rather disliked you at first” she shrugged.
“What? Are you even my friend, woman?” Courfeyrac faked a dramatic gasp, but he couldn’t fully cover the fact that he was slightly hurt by the answer.
“I think the fact that you are still alive after calling me woman speaks for itself” Eponine rolled her eyes, but a fond smile was playing in the corner of her lips.
“Fair enough” Courfeyrac nodded in agreement. “But why didn’t you like me back then? I was so nice to you. I was trying to make you feel welcome with us.”
“You kind of had the opposite effect, though. I mean the first thing you did when we met was going all creepy saying how young I was and how you will help me out and buy me something” Eponine explained.
“But you drank it” Courfeyrac pouted.
“Well it was a free drink after all” Eponine shrugged.
“Did you at least like it?” Courfeyrac continued, not even trying to cover his hurt anymore.
“Oh, come on, Courf, you have to admit a guy pulling you around a bar by your elbow, saying things like good old Courfeyrac will help you out, kiddo is a bit creepy” Eponine tried but when her words made Courfeyrac only shrink in on himself more, she continued with a sigh. “Come on, Courf! It doesn’t even matter anymore. I like you now. We are friends” she ran a hand nervously through her hair as she saw that Courfeyrac was still visibly upset and Grantaire was about to apologize, because asking this question seemed like a really asshole move in hindsight, when Courfeyrac finally looked up from staring at his knees.
“When?” he asked Eponine on a small voice. “When did you start to consider me as a friend then?”
“In the year I got custody over Gavroche.”
~~~
May 2018
Eponine placed her head on the table in front of her, hoping that the cold bartop would ease some of its throbbing. The letters on her computer screen were turning into unreadable smudges if she looked at them for more than a second anyway. Well, that much was to be expected, since she was running on three hours of sleep after getting home at one from a waitressing gig on a random event Grantaire had found for her and getting up at four thirty to get to one of her day jobs in the city centre by six.
She only needed to concentrate for a few more minutes, then she could take a quick nap in one of the café’s armchairs until Gavroche got there from school and then they could finally go home and from then on she only had to stay awake for an hour until Azelma got home, then she could curl up in her bed and sleep for twelve hours if she was lucky and nothing else came up. That sounded like a dream.
But right now, she needed to finish reading through her emails, since the only reason she was in that loud café at the first place, was to get access to free internet. And because Grantaire was working there that afternoon and that meant a free coffee for Ep. Even if it didn’t wake her up at the slightest.
She was about to open her eyes again and get back to reading, when Grantaire’s friends started laughing again at something Grantaire had said over the counter and Eponine’s headache re-emerged in full force.
She loved Grantaire, she really did but sometimes she wished he could just stop making his idiotic friends laugh for one stupid second. Okay, that wasn’t fair of her. Not all of Grantaire’s friends were that bad. Joly and Bossuet were decent, she even liked Jehan, Bahorel, Feuilly and Musichetta and she, Combeferre and Enjolras were politely ignoring each other, which was totally fine by her. The only person that really irritated her was Courfeyrac.
Because even when it was plain and simple that his world was so far removed from the one Eponine was living in that sometimes she felt like they weren’t even speaking the same language, he didn’t seem to accept the uncoverable gap between them. He even seemed to be under the impression that they were friends, which was about the most irritating situation Eponine could imagine.
The laughter finally died down again and she could concentrate on the email in front of her again. It was from Montparnasse, saying that she could pick up an extra shift at the tattoo salon, because Joana was traveling to Switzerland. Third fucking time this month. Anyway, who was she to complain, she needed the money. Gavroche’s school trip shook their monthly budget a bit. She had no idea before that school took up so much money.
Right as she was about to send Parnasse a respond, the door of the coffee shop burst open and Gavroche entered, bouncing happily on his feet, not bothered at all by his bag that must have weighted at least five kilos. Eponine smiled in spite of her headache. Sometimes all she needed was seeing her little brother happy to remind her that there was a reason she was working herself to the bone. Seeing that Gavroche wasn’t dreading to go to school so much he spent more days wandering the streets of Paris than actually making it to class anymore. That now that he was with Eponine, who let him participate in after school activities and actually gave him money to buy gifts for secret Santa, he had finally managed to make good friends, who made him excited for going to school. So much so, that he hadn’t missed a single school day since October.
“Hey, Ponine” he greeted her happily as he climbed up to the bar chair next to hers. “We are celebrating Fathers’ Day with the parents at the first Friday of June in school.”
“Cool” Eponine nodded, opening her next letter distractedly. “I’ll be there.”
“But you aren’t my dad” Gavroche remarked.
“Would you like me to tell your real dad to come?” she snapped back. still paying more attention to the emails than the little boy. She just wanted to get it over with.
“No, but I thought you could maybe, get a boyfriend or something.”
“Am I embarrassing to you?” Eponine felt herself getting more pissed by the moment. She sure as hell didn’t sleep enough for this.
“No, but I’ve already told everyone that my father would be there and…”
“I won’t get a boyfriend for this, Gav, I don’t have time for that right now” she gripped the edge of her chair with whitening fingers. She needed to keep her temper in check, she didn’t want to shout at Gavroche but the whole boyfriend topic was a bit of a touchy topic for her on a normal day.
“But please Ponine! It doesn’t have to be anyone new. You could just ask one of the guys that pick you up in the evenings someti…”
“That’s enough!” Eponine broke, unable to contain herself anymore. “What I do with my evenings is none of your business. I’ll go see your Fathers’s Day show and if you want someone else there, you can talk Zelma into coming.”
“But…”
“If you say one more word you can go and live with your father again” Eponine shut him off.
“Fine!” her brother shouted as he jumped off of the chair. “I’ll just live on the streets then, because I hate both of you anyway!” he shouted back red faced from the entrance of the café, before he shut the door behind himself with a loud bang and ran down the street.
Eponine’s anger left her as if it was never even there, instantly giving space to her worries instead. She quickly pushed her computer into her bag, sent a quick glance towards Grantaire, who pointed desperately at the clock on the wall behind him, and right, he still had two hours of his shift and he was in alone that day. Doesn’t matter, it wasn’t his fault she screwed up anyway.
Eponine was already at the door when someone grabbed her arm before she could exit. She turned around to find Courfeyrac looking down at her with a sympathetic expression.
“What?” Eponine asked as rudely as she could, because she needed to go after her brother, and she needed to go right then.
“It’s just that you seem exhausted lately” the boy continued, though he seemed a bit less sure of himself than a moment before. “If there’s anything I can help with.”
“I don’t need help” Eponine stated drily as she pulled her arm out of the boy’s grip and hurried down the street after her brother, desperately trying to forget Courfeyrac’s words, because he noticed – and if he noticed, everyone else had noticed as well – that she wasn’t enough. And if he offered his help that meant he knew the thing Eponine was desperately trying to push out of her brain ever since she got custody over her siblings, that she would never be enough.
June 2018
Eponine took a quick detour to the bathroom of Gavroche’s elementary school to put on another layer of corrector under her eyes and fix her dark lipstick before she went on finding her brother. She always put on heavier makeup when she went to Gavroche’s school. She wanted the other parents to take her seriously, which meant she needed to look older than her age. It didn’t take a lot of time anyway and made a world of a difference in how the moms in Gav’s class addressed her.
Thankfully, she discovered as she entered the gymnasium where the celebration was taking place a few minutes late, the play hadn’t started yet. She even spotted Gavroche standing at the side of the room, talking to his teacher, so she made her way over there to let the kid know she had arrived.
“Oh, Eponine, you’re here, that’s wonderful” Gav’s teacher hurried to her as soon as she saw her approaching, which was rather unusual. Eponine had known the woman to be rather cold actually. “Do you know when your father will be here?”
“My fa…” Eponine stared at the woman in shock, then Gavroche caught her eyes behind his teacher, looking repentantly at his feet and she remembered their conversation from a few weeks ago. “Oh, I’m sorry but Gavroche’s father won’t be here today.”
“I’m so sorry to hear that. What happened?”
“He was never planning on coming” Eponine answered drily, watching closely as her brother visibly paled after her words.
“He was never… You brazen little div” the woman turned violently towards Gavroche, towering over him. “You said you will have your father will be here.”
“You wouldn’t have let me play the main role otherwise” Gavroche answered on a small voice, which made Eponine’s stomach twist. She should have known it was important for Gavroche to have someone he could call his father in attendance beyond wanting a dad there.
“I’ll never give you a main role ever again, you’ve just made sure of that young man” the teacher shot back. Eponine twisted her hands into fists behind her back. She was about to open her mouth to say something that would have probably got her banned from the ten-meter radius of the school, because no one should talk to her little brother in that tone. But before she could say anything, someone slipped past him and stopped at Gavroche’s side to place a hand on his shoulder.
“Hey, kiddo, I’m sorry I’m late, I was coming as fast as I could” Courfeyrac said. The words died at Eponine’s throat as she looked over at the boy, panting slightly from probabl running there, but looking perfectly formal in his light blue shirt and expensive pants.
“You came?” Gavroche asked excitedly and if Eponine didn’t know him so well, she would have easily fallen for him and though Courfeyrac was invited all along.
“And who are you again?” Gavroche’s teacher straightened to give Courfeyrac a distrustful look over.
“I’m Gavroche’s father, Oliver de Courfeyrac” he held out his hand politely. “Okay, biologically, I’m his cousin” he leaned slightly closer as if he was telling a secret to the woman. “But I’m kind of a father figure to him.”
“Eponine didn’t mention you were coming” the woman tried to resist the boy’s charm with one last desperate attempt.
“I wanted it to be a surprise. I’m sorry, did I cause some kind of inconvenience? It didn’t intend to” Courfeyrac managed to look genuinely terrified by the concept, which made any mistrustful thoughts vanish from the teacher’s mind.
“Oh, no, not at all. We haven’t started the show anyway. Why don’t you two find a seat until I get the kids in order?”
“That would be lovely” Courfeyrac gave the woman one last charming smile before he pulled the shell shocked Eponine after him to two empty seats in the back.
“What are you doing here?” Eponine asked as the play started and she was finally able to get her thoughts in order.
“I was really sorry for stopping you the other day. I realized that my timing was entirely wrong, and I figured I should make up for it somehow” he admitted, looking sheepishly at his knees in front of him. “Also, I wanted Gavroche not to feel left out today. He’s a good kid.”
“Yeah, he is” Eponine nodded, turning her gaze towards the stage where Gavroche entered, wearing a purple bucket on his head for some reason.
“You raise him well” Courfeyrac added next to her. “Do you know why he has a bucket on his head?” he asked the next moment, genuinely confused, totally ruining their sentimental moment and Eponine couldn’t fight her smile any longer.
~~~
“Oh my god, Eponine, can I hug you?” Courfeyrac asked as Eponine finished telling the story, wiping tears from his eyes.
“Okay, fine” she rolled her eyes, but it didn’t take a genius to see that she was extremely touched by the boy’s reaction.
“Aw, come here!” Courfeyrac was on his feet in an instant, stepping over the amis in his way to pull Eponine into a deep hug. “It was totally worth missing that European Law seminar for the Fathers’ day then” he whispered into the girl’s shoulder.
“What?” Eponine pulled away suddenly to look Courfeyrac in the eyes. “You missed a lesson for it?”
“He had to retake EU Law next semester, because that was his fourth missed class” Combeferre chimed in from his place on the floor before Courfeyrac could dodge the question.
“What? You idiot!” Eponine hit him on the head rather forcefully before pulling him back into the hug. “Thank you” she whispered. “I’m glad you forced your friendship on me.”
“Me too” Courfeyrac whispered back, pulling her even closer. “Also, ouch. That hurt” he added, which led to the whole room breaking into laughter again.

Les Mis UK And Ireland Tour, Dublin 2.0
Okay so I saw Les Mis in Dublin on the 10th of February and as always when I see Les Mis I will be doing a review. For reference we were in the third row right in the middle.
I gotta see this is a STRONG cast. I actually couldn't fault any of the performances from the principal cast. There's usually always one that I'm not gone on but I genuinely believe this cast are stellar.
So to begin with, Dean Chisnall. I've heard such incredible things about Dean Chisnall and I have been so looking forward to seeing him. We've had these tickets since pre covid and I cam genuinely say it wad worth the wait. Quite honestly one of the best Valjeans I've ever witnessed. I can't even place what it is he brings to the character that makes his version so special but he's incredible. There's a softness to hid Valjean that sometimes I find lacking and it is just such a moving and nuanced performance.
So Enjolras is my favourite character and I've said it before that I have witnessed some incredibly underwhelming Enjolras and as a result I can be quite picky. Sam Wyn-Morris however, is quite honestly the best Enjolras I have ever seen. I am in love with his Enjolras. You can feel how much he cares for the cause in everything he does and those vocals. Honestly we are not worthy of his performances and I am so happy he got promoted from cover Enjolras in London to principal on tour because he is incredible.
Katie Hall. Katie Hall. Katie Hall. So I seen Katie as Fantine before back in Januarh 2019 and while I enjoyed her performance that time, it was nothing compared to this time. I don't know if it's becoming a mother or what it is, but her performance has completely changed and she blew me away. I sobbed through I dream a dream. There was so much raw emotion in everything she did and I just loved it.
Ian Hughes is a very enjoyable Thernardier. He is a great balance of funny and sinister and was very enjoyable to watch. Helen Walsh is good is Madame T., she's not my favourite role but I enjoyed her performance.
I had seen Nic Greenshields as Javert before and while I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, I enjoy him. He was perfectly stoic but unravelled at his death and vocally he was excellent on our night. I also found he acted more than he did previously when I'd seen him and thought he was a very good Javert.
Nathania Ong is a great Eponine. Her voice is stunning and I loved the rough and angry yet playful way she played Eponine. I felt like she did interstate the character which was lovely.
I really enjoyed Will Callan's Marius. Firstly, how is he only 18???? But secondly, he gave me very brick!Marius vibes he was just poor confused Pontmercy and I loved it and he also has stellar vocal chops.
I think it's generally agreed that Cosette can be quite a thankless role, but Paige Blankson was lovely. She actually acted!!!!! Which was great to see and has a beautiful voice.
The ensemble are very strong. Jordan Simon Pollard is excellently horrible as the Foreman. It is harrowing to see the Foreman as Fantine's first customer and his performance was fabulous. I really enjoyed Steven Hall as Grantaire in act 2, it was heartbreaking and he was wonderful. I could go through every member of the ensemble but I really don't have the time but it truly is an excellent company.
In terms of the production I was the first to complain about the original closing in London but after watching the New Production a few times in the last few years I can honestly say it is powerful. Some issues I would have, my friend I went with was a Les Mis newbie and sje said that the story was quite hard to follow at times as the scene changed no longer say the location and the year/ whether time has elapsed and I can imagine that would be hard to follow should you not know. Despite that I do think the production, sets and general staging etc are very good and while I do think it was a shame to get rid of the original completely, I do think this production is just as wonderful.
Something I noticed that was different to the other times I have seen both this production and the original is that Eponine no longer dies climbing over the barricade. The line "There's a boy climbing the barricade" no longer exists. Instead, Eponine is already at the barricade and a student (I didn't see who) calls "Incoming", this is followed by two gunshots and Eponine actually jumps infront of the gun in order to stop Marius getting hit (not unlike in the film). It was an interesting change because it is very small but I wonder what the decision was to change it.
Anyway, the tour company are very strong and I will urge anyone who can to get tickets because they're a cast you don't want to miss.

trans cosette?
cosette is amab and was given to the thenardiers after fantine can’t take care of her. she starts wanting to be a girl when she sees eponine and azelma and their dolls.
when madame thenardier finds cosette playing with eponine’s doll, she freaks and gets really angry at cosette and tells her “boys can’t play with dolls” and threatens her if she ever does it again
when valjean comes her, he notices how her gaze lingers on the doll and asks if she wants it. she’s hesitant to tell him that she does because of the abuse from the thenardiers, but valjean knows that cosette really wants it and buys it for her
she tells him that she wants a dress to match her doll and valjean goes and gets one for her birthday. she starts growing her hair out too.
valjean never questions her and only asks if it makes her happy, and when she says she wants to be called “she/her”, he does so happily. he never thought he’d have children, and he loves cosette so much that he’ll do whatever is best to make her happy, and if that means letting her be a girl, he’ll do that
valjean starts her on hormone blockers and gets her into a gender therapist before she starts estrogen, because even though he believes her experience, he just wants her to be sure and confident in her decisions, and with all of her trauma from the thenardiers, he doesn’t want this to just be a coping mechanism. cosette actually gets a lot of benefit from the gender therapist (who also recommends her to a trauma therapist to help along side the gender therapy) and works out terms on how to refer to herself. because valjean doesn’t know much about trans issues, and he keeps her sheltered from other people, cosette didn’t have the language to talk about what she’s feeling. she learns about different types of gender dysphoria, hormone options, surgery options, and the legal process for changing her name and gender marker. even once she starts estrogen, she stays with the gender therapist to help her work through the more legal stuff and have a referral to surgeons
by the time she’s 18 cosette has hair down to her hips and has a nice collection of dresses and skirts. she has bras too, and she purposefully shows the straps because she’s a smaller girl so bigger bras don’t fit, even with the breast growth from estrogen, and she wants people to notice (this little action is actually taken from a friend of mine whoops)
she meets marius and is super scared to tell him about her identity, but marius doesn’t even blink. he’s spent a lot of time with les amis, and especially courfeyrac who basically squashed any transphobic ideas from his mind. he sees cosette as the most beautiful girl in the world and her being trans doesn’t change that
the first time she and marius have sex, she’s worried that he won’t like what she has anatomically, but marius just asks her what feels good and what makes her comfortable and they go from there. the first time is never perfect, but she and marius have really good communication skills and they go from there
she does end up getting facial feminization surgery and bottom surgery, which make her feel really good and marius and valjean take care of her the whole time of her recovery. watching marius take care of cosette during recovery is what makes valjean know that yep, he’s the one for her. valjean was on the fence about cosette dating anyone because hes worried that cosette will be hurt, but marius really proves himself to valjean and valjean couldn’t be happier for the two of them
cosette ends up being a major activist in her own right, even though she doesn’t work directly with les amis. she works specifically for prison reform and women’s rights, with a focus on transphobia towards trans women. she also does a lot of work with children of abuse and children in the foster system. she and marius take in many kids over the course of their lifetimes because cosette will take in any kid who’s been abused and needs a safe home. she doesn’t adopt every one, but she does have a special place in her heart for young lgbtq+ children and teens who have been kicked out and has had a few foster fails
anyway, cosette is trans and beautiful and we should all love her and she’s my wife i’m straight for her goddamn

A biography
Tumblr media
Act 1. “Draw the Curtains!”
Maria Lea Carmen Imutan Salonga or more famously known as simply “Lea Salonga” was born on the 22nd of February, 1971 in Ermita, Manila. A Filipino theater company. After “The King in I”, she managed to secure the title role in her next play “Annie” and acted in the play in 1980. With her steady amount of appearances in the theater scene for the past 4 years, it proves that Lea has made her mark in the theater scene as a whole which she worked hard for since age seven. She’s currently living with her family and has a daughter named Nicole Chien. This year, Lea is planning to embark on another world tour on the 6th of April, 2022 entitled “Dream Again” which will start in North America.
To many theater kids, Lea Salonga is one of the many theater actors and actresses that these kids can look up to. She’s the perfect example of one who’s passionate about their dreams whatever it may be. Once a small town girl, now one of the big names of show business, Lea Salonga is a woman of passion, pure talent, and dedication to her craft. A true performer.

Okay, back in May @isolatedphenomenon asked me if I had an les mis fic recs and I went "oh boy do I !" and then promptly fucked off and disappeared from tumblr for like 6 months...
Anyway on the off chance people are interested, here is my vastly too long list of  my favourite les mis fanfic (that I'm almost 100% sure I'll have accidentally missed some of my favourites off of...)
The vast majority of these are main pairing Enjolras/Grantaire, so I've put those first, divided into multi-chaptered and then one-shots. Below that will be other pairings!
Multi-chaptered
• Witch Boy Series : magic AU, starting with Grantaire solving Enjolras' curse - this is just Incredible world building which gets better as it goes on - my favourite is the Babet interlude
• World Ain't Ready : you know how fandoms tend to have a fic that is just associated with it ? in my experience, for les mis this is it - and well deserved ! High school, fake dating AU with some of the most engaging writing
• BE : Enjolras is dragged back into theatre production, helping Eponine put on a production of Hamlet - really love the characterisation in this, and this is really one of those modern AUs that actually feels like real life - really good writing
• After the End : the definitive apocalypse AU in my eyes - les amis are an underground resistance to the dystopian government - really wonderful characterisation of Grantaire and the amis
• You never have to wonder; you never have to ask. : I tend to find fic by scrolling through bookmarks of a pairing, which means I often see repeats; this is a fic that if I see I just re-read cause I know I'll enjoy it - the amis sparked a failed rebellion, and now 18 months later Grantaire ends up staying at Enjolras' after returning to Paris for Marius and Cosette's wedding
• Your Heart on Your Skin : Soulmate AU with flower tattoos marking important emotions and events - wonderful concept and world building
• Impatient to Be Free : Daughters of Bilitis AU - if that doesn't make you excited I don't know what else to say to convince you (aside from saying the author is a simply wonderful writer)
• You Dance Dreams : Okay. Not to be over dramatic, but this fic did genuinely qualitatively change my life, in that it was the first thing that got me looking up contemporary ballet and now that's like one of my favourite things and big hobby So. Also its really great writing; music/creative arts school les amis with Grantaire choreohraphing the ballet for Combeferre's opera, with a heavy emphasis on Grantaire realising he really never actually got over Enjolras
• philia : this one is an absolute classic to me, but not given nearly enough recognition - one of the more realistic college AUs ever written, and the writing of Grantaire is so good because it hits the perfect balance of sympathy and annoyance about his behaviour (that's a genuine compliment)
• Coffee Hooligans : fucking tragedy this never got properly finished, Enjolras leads the amis as social justice vigilantes and tries to hide the criminal bits of his life from R
• Fighting the Hurricane : Pacific Rim AU that's less an AU and more just placing the les mis characters in the Pacific Rim universe. Really good and riveting read, also super interesting depiction of Grantaire
• Weaving Olden Dances : Fairy AU - Grantaire "claims" Enjolras to prevent his execution - really good writing, love Grantaires characterisation
• Paris Burning : canon era (sort of) where cities have a physical being - Grantaire is Paris and becomes entangled in Enjolras' revolution - oh the world building is truly *chefs kiss*
• Euphoria is You For Me : Enjolras and Grantaire keep meet cuting in a wonderfully written Brooklyn - feels like a love letter to Brooklyn at times, and I really like the characterisation of Grantaire
• so please just fall in love with me this christmas : Enjolras works for the environmental company Grantaire volunteers at, and keeps getting secret gifts at Christmas - I sound a little like a broken record but the Grantaire characterisation is very good
• You Are the Moon : Wild West esque Space AU - Grantaire has to call on the amis to help rescue Valjean and Cosette, despite Grantaire leaving the amis 6 months before. On re-reading the Enjolras characterisation feels a little rushed, but overall fantastic story telling and the Grantaire arc is a Delight
• Pandemos : Enjolras is aphrodite, and seeks peace from all his suitors in R/Hephestus' cave
• Pining for You : Hallmark christmas romance - Grantaire returns home to work on his father's tree farm, and Enjolras is the lawyer helping prevent the farm being sold - cute as shit imo
• Once We're Kings : Fantasy AU - a country hosts a ball to marry Prince Enjolras and the rival country sends Grantaire as a fuck you - one of the best ways of doing Enjolras as a prince in a fantasy and just really nicely written
• Never Bitter and All Delicious : Fairy Godmother AU - yes really, yes its genuinely a very good read
• On One Condition : Fantasy AU - Enjolras is a bored knight who finally goes to check out the local dragon, which turns out to be Grantaire - I really like how they capture Enjolras' stubborn nature and it's such a well written soft growth of love between them
• That's How Easy Love Can Be : Les Amis work at a primary school; and its secret santa time! very fun portrayal of Enjolras
• The Lark and Her Lieutenants : re write of canon where Cosette is the leader of the revolution - just *chefs kiss*
• If You Tickle Us, Do We Not Laugh : Grantaire is Enjolras' secret android - really good at writing a relationship that's incredibly loving but just keeps being antagonistic and coming off wrong
One Shots
• True Colours : AU where you leave colours on the people important to you - Enjolras and Grantaire falling for each other is so soft and gently written its lovely, this is genuinely one of my favourites
• Keep It Kind, Keep It Good, Keep It Right : this one is so good to me, because it builds off my pet hatred of everyone assuming Enjolras doesn't care about (or at least actively show he cares about) his friends
• blooming : very soft post-dystopian utopia that has just a really wonderful sense of hope and light to me
• and the wall leaned away (or: The Pros and Cons of Tilling) : perfectly realised characterizations of the amis, Grantaire needs a date to her final year art exhibition - deals with anxiety over protest in a way that actually hits for me
• not just one of the crowd : R helps run a leftist bakery and bike repair shop - very cute characterisation, and I think more les mis fanfic should link to anarchist essays
• Lovesickness : Enjolras is an idiot and thinks he's sick rather than having a crush - the writing of Joly and Combeferre in this is some of my favourite depictions of these two
• If there's a rocket, tie me to it : absolutely heartbreaking sci-fi AU about the amis as doomed mecha pilots
• Where I Fall is Where I Land : Enjolras is a Roman commander as Rome's power is leaving England, and then meets the pict Grantaire (+ fun soulmark stuff !)
• You Started Foreign to Me : Enjolras moves to america and R is the overnight grocery clerk who helps her learn Spanish - cute fluffy lesbians with a wonderfully written driven Enjolras
• Love Is Touching Souls : very cute soulmate AU - and one I really love for really truly considering the implications of soul marks and creating historical lore around it
• Ten Years : R is a musician, and it non-linearly charts his relationship to Enj from high school to 10 years later
• put up with me then I'll make you see : Grantaire lives above Enjolras, and its christmas - I find it to have a very fun interpretation of pining Enjolras
• A Cat Called Trash Can : this was one of the first les mis fics I ever read (yes I know it says it was published in 2020, but I think it has to be a re-upload or something?) and it does still have a special place in my heart - Grantaire rescues a cat, but Enjolras is the only one with an apartment free to look after it
• Still I'm Begging to Be Free : inception AU where les amis have to rescue a sleeping R from his own brain
•I'm in it for You : cw: illness, cancer - R has cancer and is being a martyr about telling his friends so Enjolras drives him back from chemo
• walls come tumbling down : sky high au - a very good high school AU with the perfect level of campy superhero powers
• This brave new world's not like yesterday : Enjolras needs a job, so ends up working in a bowling alley with Grantaire and bonding
Enjolras/Grantaire/Combeferre
• In Defiance of All Geometry : les amis are a student co-op house, Enjolras and Combeferre are pining friends and Grantaire is the newbie
• Still the Same : this is very good writing and very compelling - if you can get over the (imo) plot hole of Enjolras working for the FBI. R was an art thief Enj put away and is briefly helping the FBI out, and Combeferre is Enjolras' husband
• To Kingdom Come : cw: war and PTSD from that, Enjolras and Combeferre are part of a group of refugees that have crossed into a more fantasy land, and Grantaire is a lone traveller from that land that attempts to help - that was a shit summary of this very emotional, wonderfully written fic about war and love in all forms
• Gonna need (a spark to ignite) : I always love a twist on a classic trope, and this is a very fun take on the soulmate AU - Enjolras loses feeling in his soul mark as a child, falls in love with Grantaire and then his soulmate, Combeferre, turns up
Eponine/Cosette
• Pretty Girls Don't Know the Things That I Know : simply stunning writing - perfect example of soft writing about a harsh world
• she knows her way around : Eponine and Cosette bond, ostensibly so Eponine can find out about her for Marius, and their interactions are so playful and realistic, its wonderful
• always find me floating on oceans : Cosette stows away on Eponine's pirate ship - I do always have a soft spot for eposette fics (not just cause I ship it) because they truly characterise Cosette in a really considered and interesting way
• There's No Making Love : I'm putting this under eposette even though there is some significant enjolras/grantaire content, because the Cosette characterisation is so fun and cute
• round and round again : this fic really beautifully translates Cosette's bad childhood and then isolated teenage years, and the impact that would have on her as an adult into a modern AU
• Underwater Thunderheards : this is based off the book The Scorpio Races, and is just a really nice short fic  about longing
• How To Change The World Without Taking Power : Marius has a crush on Cosette and she's tried being polite and subtle in turning him down, so just ends up fake dating Eponine instead
• blood red fruit and poison's kiss : Snow White AU - Cosette as Snow White
• The Winters Cannot Fade Her : Snow White Au 2.0 - Eponine as Snow White - this was written as a pair to the one above which is just so cute to me
• marriage à la mode : Cosette and Eponine run a bridal shop together and it's very cute !
• Temporary Hold : I personally find this a really fun and very unique take on Cosette - with exams coming up she decides she needs to get laid on the reg and so hits up Eponine to act as if they're already long term girlfriends
Combeferre/Courfeyrac
• better than you had it : fake dating but kick it up an emotional notch - Courf and Ferre pretend to still be together after breaking up for a family event
• take flight, come near : nice and cute low fantasy, where Combeferre runs a dragon sanctuary and Courf finds an injured dragon
Rare Pairs
• The Future's Owned by You and Me : cute Enjolras/Feuilly with actual radical politics and real life organising difficulties and wins
• First Dates and Other Dangers : Combeferre and Grantaire agree to go on a blind date and it's awkward until it isn't - just cute !
• after midnight : Combeferre has insomnia and meets Grantaire in various all night fast food chains
• as you are : Bahorel and Jehan getting ready together
• Almost Romantic : Jehan works at a museum, and takes Combeferre on a little tour
• Understudy : Jehan/Combeferre, with Combeferre's insecurities regarding being seen as second best to Enjolras
• Here There Be Dragons : Courf/Enj/Ferre - Courf and Enj are superheroes and Ferre is the doctor that patches them up
• To Let it Occur (Laisser Faire la Nature) : Feuilly has a stupidly long stopover in Paris and meets Enjolras
• rule of three : Courf/Enj/Ferre as spies and loving boyfriends
• Good Rhetoric : snapshots of cute cuddly courf/enj/ferre
• subluxate, dislocate, replace : found family and chronic illness with Joly/Bossuet/Musichetta
• Strike stone, strike home (like lightning) : so this fic took one minor piece of lore about Tolkien's dwarves and made a beautiful j/b/m fic from it
• Almost Inevitable : Bahorel/Feuilly friends-with-benefits
• god only knows (what I'd be without you) : Bahorel/Feuilly with a closeted Feuilly and a beautiful Feuilly and Eponine friendship

I wanted to start a tag game, but with really random questions. So here goes nothing!
1. How many blankets and/or stuffed animals do you sleep with?
A lot. I'm bordering on 40 stuffed animals. It's a problem.
2. What's the first movie you can remember watching and crying?
Lilo and Stitch. I think I was seven.
3. Favorite pair of shoes?
They're a pair of vans, they're checkered black and rainbow.
4. An accomplishment that was kinda silly, but you are super proud of?
Okay, when I was in first grade (6 yrs to 7yrs) I won my school spelling bee, beating kids up to 11 yrs of age. I'm still proud of that.
5. You're on a deserted island. You get two people and three things (necessities are provided). What do you bring?
Oh gosh. Why did I put this one on here? Probably my dear friends, who'll shall be called M and G for their own sake. I'd bring my phone (i make the rules here) my phone charger, and my headphones. Thank goodness I use the same charger for my phone and headphones. And apparently there is electricity and wifi on the island, so yeah.
6. What is your dream role(s)?
I would absolutely love to be Eponine (who wouldn't?) But also, if I had the ability of course, Christine in Phantom.
7. Carpet, hardwood, or tile?
Um, hard wood. Why did I think this was a good question???
8. Favorite number?
18. I don't know, I just like it. But I also like 13. Because it's unlucky.
Yeah, it's kinda silly. But whatever, I wanted to do it so I did it.

Starkid Les Misérables
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sing the anthem of the people, for the Starkid dreamcast for Les Misérables is here! Tumblr ate the ask for this one, but I was more than happy to create this one as Les Mis is one of my favorite shows and another classic I did with my school (I was Bamatabotis/Grantaire). This took a little more time than usual due to the sheer size of the cast and several changes were made to it (for a while I had Robert as Enjolras) but I think this is one of my best yet! Note
15, 17, 18 for Enjolras in the Outlander AU
From this ask.
15. How much have they travelled? Do they have any places they would like to visit? How wide is “their world?” Enjolras hasn't traveled much, unless you would consider reading of life in other countries a form of travel. A few instances, he considered traveling to Scotland to see if some of his mother's traditions/beliefs still existed on its original soil, but trying to make his way on his own after the 1832 rebellion prevented that, more concerned in seeing his mother and his nephew safe than depend on the family's funds to take such a trip.
17. Can they sing? What kinds of songs do they know? He can sing, his voice a soft baritenor. Aside from songs from a few operas that he barely manages the lyrics from, he knows some French and Scottish lullabies he heard growing up, as well as a couple Scottish folk songs from his mother that were passed on from her parents. He also picked up on a few songs from more modern times from hearing Eponine sing them.
18. Can they dance? Do they prefer folk dances or more formal ballroom dancing? He can dance, but would prefer not to. Though he does prefer ballroom dancing, he was taught by his mother a few Scottish dances such as the Highland fling and a form of sword dance, as well as the Breton region's gavotte from his paternal grandmother.

fic writer review
tagged by @dameferre (on main) <3 this ended up being long so i’m throwing it under the cut! thank you for the tag, i’ve wanted to do this for a while!
tagging: @weedsinavacantlot @mosaicscale @jaskiersvalley @unyielding-as-the-sea @chubbykatsudon @ohnomybreadsticks even though I know some of you have already done this!
1. how many works do you have on ao3?
78. one is anonymous right now for a flash fic challenge so it isn’t showing up. i have no fucking idea how i got here (AND i’ve deleted so many stories...)
2. what’s your total ao3 word count?
542911 which is truly horrendous. somebody stop me
3. how many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
so i’ve MOSTLY written the witcher/dead by daylight/until dawn, but i have 25 fandoms with currently published works. yikes
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
-number one is a stupid fic with a polyamorous ship (+ a trans character) for a fandom i no longer care about and a book series i really hate. i regret writing it (and have said so in the notes), i was at a place in my life where i wanted to write this incredibly self-indulgent thing after diving headfirst into canon, and now rereading it with a critical eye, it just makes me annoyed.
-number two is, SOMEHOW, the geraskier scent kink fic?! i don’t understand how this has more kudos than some of my other fics!!!!! people really love smut huh
-number three is venom smut
-number four is the cave, my longest fic! it’s an until dawn fix-it that is very self-indulgent and definitely needs a total rework haha
5. do you respond to comments, why or why not?
i try to respond to all comments that aren’t anonymous! like elle said, I appreciate it more when people notice an obscure reference or something. I think the one word/emoji comments are still nice but they don’t personally have much of an impact on me. and all this being said, i am perpetually behind on my comment replies I currently have 246 to do 😔😔😔
6. what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
it’s the one i’m publishing next week for the whataboutthebard event hehe
7. do you write crossovers? if so, what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
i love crossovers i think theyre very fun! i wrote an (unpublished) crossover where deadpool and cable are the superhero identities of face and hannibal from the a-team. it was a birthday gift to a friend and it was VERY indulgent especially with the non-linear timeline (because cable) but whatever, i reread it recently and it still slaps
8. have you ever received hate on a fic?
i have but nothing that really irked me so badly i remembered it, oops
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
i sure do which is hilarious because as someone who is sex repulsed like 95% of the time irl... how do i keep getting away with this
10. have you ever had a fic stolen?
okay no i haven’t (to my knowledge) but also someone once wrote an until dawn fic “inspired by” the cave that basically took the exact same plot and ....??? made it worse/simpler? it was hard to read so i wasn’t 100% sure but. at first i was flattered and eventually it just got annoying, even though they barely wrote anything for it
11. have you ever had a fic translated?
people have offered but none have followed through!! wah
12. have you ever co-written a fic before?
i’ve planned out fics with people but the writing process is difficult enough without someone else there. i would really like to get into those train fics where each author writes a different part though, i think it’d be a ton of fun
13. what’s your all-time fave ship?
it is probably, just statistically, eames and arthur. but there are so many lmao how could i choose
14. what’s a fic you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
i should probably put the cave here but i’m close to the end of that one actually, just need to sit down and do it! but ‘spectacular’, the kingsman/baby driver crossover i worked SOOOO hard on, is probably not something i’m ever going to feel comfortable finishing. or if i do, i will be rewriting it so that it’s clear that i’m headcanoning baby as someone other than ans*l elg*rt (john boyega...? 👀) but yeah at this moment in time i can’t see that happening
15. what are your writing strengths?
idk.. i like my dialogue!
16. what are your writing weaknesses?
scene transitions, endings, editing out scenes that aren’t cohesive and don’t contribute anything but I love Them Your Honour, falling into the same boring writing style with each sentence having the exact same structure
17. what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages on a fic?
i think it needs to be done correctly and there has to be a reason for it
18. what was the first fandom you ever wrote for?
i dunno man... naruto maybe???? d. gray-man? sh*rlock??????????? perhaps les mis when i was a baby and literally only cared about eponine and cosette
19. what is your favorite fic you’ve ever written?
it’s really hard for me to choose only one answer here 😔 I really like my laegjarn/fjorm stuff and the ocean’s eleven fic i wrote, and i LOVE the dialogue in my veep fics <3 for dead by daylight i’m still proud of my jake/evan summer camp slasher AU! and i like most of my witcher fics, i’m really excited about some things i have in the works right now.
if you actually made it to the bottom, thanks for reading!!! 🥰🥰🥰
