Hello! :) Hope I don’t seem like I am trying to cause drama. 😅 I would like to ask how different and / or similar is the YOI fandom in Japan compared to the English fandom? Another thing I’m curious about is how do Japanese BL / GL fans view view Western shows with LGBT+ characters? For example does The Owl House have a lot of GL fans or do they not really care about the show?

I don't think that it's trying to cause drama... In case of YoI and all the very unusual things that happened with this IP, if we try to understand why it happened, imo, it's impossible to see the whole picture without taking into consideration how Jp anime industry&fandom perceive LGBT+ related stuff.

The main difference is that, in case of anime like YoI, in Jp, majority of people think "fujoshi" when they see it, not "gay representation/ LGBT".

This is a quote from an article I happened to read recently (link) that answers a lot of your questions. A person, who works for a company that specializes in BL marketing, talks about Jp and Asian BLs.

"In Japanese BLs there is a lot of settings and cliches expected to appear in the story. There is so much that I'll only give you an example here, one that is difficult to explain in words - for example, the seme (the man that leads in the romantic relationship) is cool and the most popular person in the class, and on the other hand the uke (the man that is led) is more plain, and a bit of an natural airhead - this pattern is one of the classics. In BL, part of the culture is to enjoy those settings and story templates.

Of course, in the West, there are also BL stories called M/M, which portray romantic relationships between men and they have a lot of fans in Jp. But according to Tsutsui: "In the West, those stories are created more in the context of LGBT and are of a different kind that Japanese and Asian BLs."

Also, in BLs there is a lot of taboos, called "jirai, landmines". If you detonate those because you lack understanding [of the BL culture], users will immediately go away.

One example of a landmine is when seme and uke swap places, called "reverse"."

Of course, YoI isn't BL, but fans of YoI ships have exactly the same mindset: one uke, seme(s), enjoying our fantasies, not interested in LGBT. Obviously, it's not 100% of the fandom, but the vast majority is really like that.

VicYuu (Victor seme, Yuuri uke) is the most popular ship (seme the coolest character x uke the main character "I'd like to read shojo manga, but they have women there and I hate those" template is the most popular fujo template for every story - for example, in case of JJK, the most popular ship is... Gojo Satoru x Itadori Yuji (15) with almost 700 millions views in total on pixiv). So, that Yuuri doesn't look uke enough and Victor looks like a "fa*got with fake eyelashes" (that's a quote), when he should be a masculine seme, in a lot of arts is one reason why fujos started to hate members of YoI staff. Just like that person in the article said - for fujos, it's a landmine. I've talked about it a few times before - one of the most hated YoI staff member is Mitsurou, and there is plenty of reasons why she was targeted, but one is that the way she draws Yuuri and Victor is more similar to how "YuuVic" fanarts are drawn (and often you can basically tell the ship by how the person draws the characters)...

I don't know a lot about The Owl House, but of course, it has fans in Jp as well - only, I think that those fans (of Western LGBT shows in general) are more from the progressive side and there is little overlap with classic fujos (so a kind of BL/dojinshi fan). Another example, the Witch from Mercury was also popular with the progressive people of Jp twitter and they were also bashing the IP holders because of the marriage controversy... Of course, more progressive people read BLs, too, but many are against being labelled as "fujoshi"... That's generalization, but fujos are those people who labelled and still call heterosexual love "normal love" - I think that says a lot.

In my observation, YoI's Jp fandom is in majority fujo-fandom (2016 was a few years ago...). In 2023, however, more and more people are more open and know more about LGBT+ stuff, so there is also growing "progressive" population of fans on twitter etc. and those people gravitate towards different shows/have different interpretations compared to classic fujos.

So yeah, generally & simply speaking, in Jp, fujoshi, BL =/= LGBT. And btw, as I was labelled fujo-hater in the past, I don't think it's "bad" that fujos like to feminize their uke so much to self-insert and fantasize about the masculine seme(s) loving them, effectively making the ship into a heterosexual ship, because that's what they prefer (although when a grown-up woman is fantasizing about a tiny teenager having sex with a man twice his age and size, well... I'm not sure it's healthy) but I just don't think that it has much to do with LGBT rights and being allies or anything like that, and that it's something that should be acknowledged, too.

Frodo!

You aren't used to being approached while you work; quite the contrary, in fact, many passersby almost seem to treat you like you don't exist at all when you appear in the peripheries of their vision hunched over your books and scrolls. Which, admittedly, is suitable to you as your work is quite consuming. Quenya translations do not come without focus, after all. So when a voice sounds at your back, your clumsy side emerges as you startle, almost overturning your ink pot before a small, pale hand darts out to catch and right it. “My apologies,” you hear from behind you, “I was just curious what form of Elvish that was.”

Turning around, you see a hobbit, dark-haired and blue-eyed and shyly smiling at you. He is clad in a white shirt and brown pants and something about the navy vest he wears gives him a studious air. You smile. “Quenya, very old. In fact this book,” you motion over the tome you’ve been comparing against the ancient scroll, “is a chronicle of the witches of old. Quick different from anything we see these days.” A mixture of teasing and apprehension crossed the hobbit’s visage. “And what are you doing with a book like that?” “Looking for a way to raise my undead army,” you tease back, leaning forward toward him in your chair. At that, both of you laugh and exchange introductions. His name is Frodo and it would seem his uncle is quite a student of languages as well, teaching Frodo newer, more practical forms of Elvish and studying some Khuzdul himself. In fact, he is only there outside the Shire to have an old book of his uncle’s appraised.

You can’t help the wave of distraction that overtakes you after you offer your own skills, though; adjusting your spectacles and pushing your chair back, you cannot resist asking Frodo about his Shire. He pulls back a chair of his own, taking up a spot at your side with a smile you can only describe as lovestruck. Stubborn as you can be, you give no fight to the derailment of your work as Frodo speaks of rolling green hills, warm hearths and sunny gardens and flowers hung upon fences. You understand his expression completely, a sigh escaping your own lips at his vividly gorgeous words. "We may know little of your witchcraft or translations in the Shire, but it's home. The greatest home I could ask for." He had you at sunny gardens. "I would love to see it," you reply, setting your quill down. "He isn't always fond of guests," Frodo chuckles, folding his arms on the table, "but I think someone with your knowledge and spirit would quite amuse him. Come and visit us. I will have Uncle Bilbo convinced by the time you get there." "Oh, he needs convincing, does he?" "Perhaps you could put a spell of some sort on him."

The older hobbit you quickly learn is Frodo’s uncle Bilbo still looks surprised by your presence at his nephew’s side, but he gets a glitter in his eyes you expect to be quite characteristic once you bring up your meeting with Frodo. You end up talking to Bilbo as much as his nephew at dinner, in fact, sharing many glances with the proudly smiling Frodo as you hear the most amazing tales of dwarf-song and dragon fire and even time spent alongside Lord Elrond himself in the great homely house. Bilbo chuckles at the way your eyes light up, your questions about the magic woven around Rivendell and how different it is from the small spells you’ve attempted. That certainly gets the old hobbit’s eyebrows shooting up! At the end of it, you agree with Frodo’s assessment of the Shire’s warm hearths and have continued invitations to see your friends.

And that is definitely how you see it for quite some time, after all you work with Bilbo as much as you run around the Shire woods with Frodo, dodging his cousins plucking up mushrooms and trading botany facts and tips with Samwise, Bag End’s gardener, while Frodo looks on with the smile you’ve grown to love. Suspicion that he is just teasing you rises one day when he looks at you fondly, half-asking, half making a statement to you. "You really have fallen for the Shire, haven't you?" Of course you have. The hobbits admire your strength, at least for the most part- those that poke at you about big folk disturbing the peace or the Bagginses stirring things up again risk your comebacks, after all, the bite of your wit tearing perfectly back against the bore of their lives and personalities. Every time you swivel from such interactions, there is Frodo and that fond smile that suddenly you aren't so sure how to respond to. You don't know what to do when he takes your hand to show you something or catches you when your feet slip out from under you, hands about your waist. You don't mind, especially given Frodo's knowledge that your hands get achy and cold and somehow his find them right as it sets in, and beside that he was nothing but a gentleman to you. That in and of itself seems to be the sudden source of your hysteria right up to the moment Frodo rises onto his tiptoes and presses his lips ever so gently to yours. He's told you again and again over your compared translation notes, over twisting little charms and flower crowns together, over even blood and bandages and your laughter over the way your dear hobbit frets while you feel next to nothing.

You are lucky in the gift of Frodo as you frequently tell him, as you make known when you take his arm on a hike and share in that fond smile he gives you. Frodo is a gentle soul, affectionate but not so overt in his advance as to deter you. To put it bluntly, Frodo is not a sexual person, so the nature of your relationship as it is and the love you share in your spent time are plenty to satisfy him. Forever you have someone to bring you tea and a kiss to the crown of your auburn head as you pore over documents, someone to bake for and an uncle who laughs heartily at every insistence of yours that he needs to take you to Rivendell to study their wards, throwing in the Lonely Mountain for good measure. Between the three of you, Bag End fills with books in no time, but you certainly cannot complain when some of them are quite ancient indeed, teasing challenges by your favorite hobbits, one of whom sees himself in you and the other who simply sees the beauty in you while you work. Even if sometimes you work a little too hard and he has to help you back into your now-shared hobbit hole to rest your back after a little too long sketching, weeding, and planting in the garden you are beautiful, shining with sweat and dabbed with proof of your connection to the earth. You certainly are the best thing Frodo has brought home on an errand.

After a busy day, Denki wanted nothing more than to plop down onto his bed and play video games. With his boyfriend, Shinsou, of course. Which he was happy to indulge himself in spending some time with Denki.

After 10 minutes of playful arguing, a snack break, and fighting over certain controllers, they settled on playing Super Smash Brothers. A game they both had experience with and enjoyed playing. Denki chose Kirby while Shinsou selected the purple inkling. With their characters selected their many games began.

It was all going in Denki’s favor the first few matches they played. All until he got too sucked into the game and went after the fake smash ball, launching his character off the stage when he broke it. That had been his final life, making Shinsou the victor of that match.

Game!

The game announced before it switched to the victory screen. Denki blinked, almost in disbelief. Now he was no video game master, he’s had his fair share of losses. It was irritating when he was winning the entire time and suddenly losing a match.

Denki turned towards Shinsou to be playfully upset. Only, he was met with the beautifully scrunched face of his boyfriend as he giggled happily at Denki losing, “Wohohow! Whose the loser now?” Shinsou asked, making his giggles go away after a second, though a smile was still there clear as day.

Denki just smiled, he couldn’t bring himself to even pretend to be angry for a second. Until he decided those giggles paired with that smile was too much to pass up. Denki turned his whole body to face Shinsou.

“Big talk from someone who lost every previous match. Don’t be such a sore winner, Babe.” Denki taunted and scooted over to Shinsou and simply just settled himself on his boyfriend’s waist.

“Like you’ve done the whole time?” Shinsou smirked, taking on a more confused and curious smile at suddenly being trapped between Denki and the couch. “Do I get a kiss for winning?” He teased leaning up a little for said kiss he thought he was getting as a reward.

Denki just grinned and leaned in a little like he was going to kiss Shinsou, then gently headbutted Shinsou affectionately, “Nope.” He sang and suddenly began squeezing at his boyfriend’s sides.

Shinsou fell back against the couch, giggling loudly as he slightly squirmed under Denki’s weight, “Dehehenki! Whahat the hehehell?” He giggled, squeezing his eyes shut.

Denki merely shrugged, “felt like it. You’re cute, wanted to tickle you.” The shorter boy explained calmly, though he had a smile so big it could rival Shinsou’s. He loved this softer, sweeter side of Shinsou, and frankly Shinsou appreciated when Denki brought him out of his shell a little. It was nice to be happy and laugh without thinking about the weight of the world’s problems.

“Thahahats aha hohorrible answer!” Shinsou argued only getting a smile from his boyfriend above him. Denki leaned down a little beside Shinsou, “Plus we both know you like this~” he teased into Shinsou’s ear, making him scrunch his shoulders and snort softly.

“Yohohou suhuck!” Shinsou complained through his giggles. Denki’s only response was kissing his cheek, causing Shinsou to giggle a little louder out of pure happiness at all the affection.

The tickles eventually came to a stop, Denki not wanting to tire Shinsou out before their little game night was over. He ran his hand through Shinsou’s messy bed head to help his giggles calm down a bit.

“Are we still playing?” Shinsou spoke up after a moment, not wanting to fall asleep just yet at the gentle affection. “Only if you let me win, I don’t think my ego could take losing again.” Denki joked with a happy grin.

Shinsou just chuckled slightly, “Oh my God, get off of me you dork.” He said as he playfully shoved at Denki’s shoulder to move him. Denki laughed with him and moved off but stayed beside him as Shinsou sat up, both of them reclaiming their controllers.

“I love you too, Toshi.” Denki said, giving Shinsou that kiss he so badly wanted for winning a few minutes ago. Shinsou was happy with the small kiss and turned back to the tv with a small permanent smile stuck on his face, video games and little tickle fights going on well past midnight.

Alright, after much deliberation... I've decided I could ship you with three people, and they are truly the highest of compliments: Harry, Ginny, and James.

James, I just think you'd enjoy him. I think he'd make you laugh and maybe draw you out of yourself more, gain more confidence and just offer a steadiness you can trust.

Ginny, I dunno, she's just a firecracker and I could really see you going for that. Like, your girlfriend who would beat the shit out of anyone for you but is also very loving and understanding? Ultimately I'm not sure if it'd work, though... I'm wondering if you think she'd be too intense in the end?

And Harry...which maybe seems like a surprise? But I feel like you are both very sensitive, kind, and thoughtful people to your core. I think you could be there for each other and understand one another in a way not a lot of other people understand you. You'd encourage each other to believe in yourselves more because you get it. And I think you'd still gravite to the ways he can be like James, witty and a bit hard-headed, firm in his beliefs and a fierce defender of others.

Ginny is such an interesting option! This sounds so pathetic, but I think she has too much confidence for me, and is such an extrovert that I'd be exhausted all the time. I do think she'd be too intense for me.

James and Nia Headcanons/Dynamics

(Humanized AU: Engines but as hoomans.)

1: I like to think Nia works as a Zoo Keeper at the Sodor Zoo. So she has access to all kinds of animals. Including bugs. And James definitely doesn't bugs. However that doesn't stop Nia from trying to show him them. Or whatever potentially creepy crawly critters the zoo has. Meaning on occasion you'll see James run off screaming while Nia is laughing her head off and holding a giant tarantula or something.

2: James is a fashion designer in the human au, so maybe Nia shows him some fashion trends from Kenya or something? And that inspires him to make a line of clothing based off of them? That might be cool.

3: This one really applies to any au. But I thought I'd add it anyway. I could be just me, but Nia seem to enjoy a little playful pranking. And so does James. I feel like there could be some really good potential for funny stuff right there.👀 Maybe they team up on something? And they bring along Thomas too? That would be a funny fanfic right there. Lol.

(Monster Engine AU: Engines, but Beasty! :D)

Honestly @ohjeeztrains would probably be better at this, but I'll give it my all!

1: As monster engines, Nia would probably be leopard inspired. And I could see James vaguely resembling a lion. I should draw this actually. I've never tried my hand at monster engines.👀 On a side note, I like to think Nia was a feral monster engine someone found in Africa. And maybe Sir Topham Hat brought her over to see if she'd like it there on Sodor.

2: Uh, let's see. How about Nia liking to sleep in trees like a leopard? That would be funny. And James is trying to figure out way on earth she would do that, until she invites him up to try it. Sir Topham Hat then had to call the rescue team for a very frightened red monster engine stuck in a tree.🤣

3: This one doesn't have James in it, but I thought it would be funny. Nia sees zebras at the zoo.🦓🦓🦓Pro: They remind her of home. Con: She likes to chase zebras for fun. Cue her poor crew getting jostled about as she gleefully gallops after said zebras. Lol.

(Dragon AU: Engines, but dragons. My au!)

This one I can probably handle! Quick note to anyone reading. I ship James and Nia in my AU, so that's why these will probably seem a bit shippy. Anyways, on with the headcanons!

1: Nia is a tropical wyvern and used to warm weather. When she moves to Sodor, it so flipping cold. Luckily, James is a Phoenix Wyvern/Dragon and is very warm. And he's also very fluffy. So you'll on occasion, see her hiding under his wing, enjoying the toasty warm heat.

2: James loves mangos in this au. And Africa definitely has Mangos. And since James is the one to go on the adventure in this version of BWBA, I'm sure Nia showed him a mango orchard. They had a lot of mangos before the farmer almost saw them and they had to skedaddle.🥭🥭🥭🥭

3: On the BWBA adventure, they ran into a lot of scary situations. And James has terrible survival skills. Nia had to save him a lot. From all kinds of stuff. Snakes, ravines, his own incompetence.🤣

4: Bonus tidbit. James had rarely seen any tropical wyverns before. Even though he's half one. So after meeting Nia, he learned a few things about himself he didn't even know he had. Like being able to climb trees and walls with the hooks on his wings. And the fact he has a venomous bite. (That last one is based loosely off of real wyvern legends!)

1: Thomas like to play wrestle. And his two favorite people to do this with is Percy and James. Although, sometimes, the wrestling spawns from James and Thomas being frickin fed up with each other and then they really get rowdy.😂

2: When they get older, James is usually Thomas's partner on missions to bring fleeing dragons back to Sodor. They're surprisingly a good team.

3: James was initially jealous of Thomas over him being next in line for the Dragon Clan's patriarchy. That eventually worked itself out though. And they are actually quite close now. Most people don't realize though, with all their banter.

Gordon and Edward headcanons/dynamics

Oof. This is gonna be tough. I've always struggled with the human AUs. Unfortunately, I think the only one I have is this one.

1: Out of everyone, they are the best cooks in the entire family. But Gordon is better at fancy cuisine and Edward will makes the best traditional British food you'll every have in your life.👨‍🍳

I wish I was better at human au headcanons. The problem is most of my headcanons fit into literally anything and not a specific au.😅

☆ GENERAL COMMENTS.

so i've been pretty MIA these past few weeks :/ i just started a new full time job which is quite physical and while i am enjoying it immensely, i'm usually tired at the end of the day to come on writeblr.

BUT somehow i've still been finding time to write! lots of fun things are happening in the chaynematic universe.

i've also been drawing quite a bit too! i'm really challenging myself to draw out of my comfort zone (which really just means drawing backgrounds that are more than a shape or a gradient, welp). currently working on a piece for my new wip which is... taking way longer than i would like 😅

reading comments: Discordia (which is the final book in this space opera trilogy i've been reading over the last few months) was good, not great, and the ending felt a little anticlimatic, but i can understand why it ended the way it did. a solid 4/5 stars because i still had a good time. anyways if you like Chay Stories, i recommend this trilogy! it's far from perfect and a little rough around the edge but it's still fun and enjoyable and hits all the right elements i personally love! (sibling drama in space! funky alien tech! bisexuals, plural!!!!!)

☆ COMMENTS: ANDROMEDA ROGUE (draft 2)

i tend to work on this one when i don't have the brainpower to think too much, as a lot of it is just polishing or expanding on things that are already written.

i did add some new scenes that i hope will add more meat to the story. one is a phone call Azami witnesses between her father and some other politician, which is meant to add some political backdrop to the conflict between the planets. the other is a scene where Azami tries to run away before being placed on the expedition, but gets caught by her brother Ansel, as i wanted Azami to be more active in trying to shape her fate from the very get-go, and also give her and Ansel more scenes together. i haven't quite finished the latter one yet though because i haven't had the braincells to write any completely new scenes for this wip lately.

i also really reworked an exposition-heavy chapter where Petra gets the rundown of the expedition, and the scene right before they leave when they're given a tour of the ship to make it less clunky, sprinkling description of the ship into the team's actions as they get settled in instead of throwing a big wall of description at you.

so as of now a good chunk of act 1 is already rewritten!

however i do think in the second half of the month the steam for AR (which was all momentum from finishing AR3) has cooled down a bit and my mind has shifted elsewhere. which brings me to my next section...

(technically it's not new because i've been secretly working on it sporadically since spring, but it's new to most of you.) i'm having a ball writing about these awful gay women doing crime in space!!! i really missed that New WIP High haha. i feel like a kid in a sandbox.

i realized partway through the first act that the way i was writing AR wouldn't work for GH. because it's a heist i'll have to plan thigns more than i did with AR... but having a too-detailed outline feels too restricting. so instead i'm attempting to fast draft this thing so i can get a fuller picture of where i'm going, but still be able to plants this draft which seems to be the way that works best for me. (probably because you can't spell plantsing without plants.)

except that i'm really bad at not getting caught up in details while drafting, especially when writing dialogue-- these guys always end up talking and talking way more than i intend lmao. so i'm calling this more of a draft 0.5, where some parts will be more detailed but others will... not. i've pretty much skipped all description or non-essential worldbuilding. that's a problem for Future Chay.

Illiana’s chest tightened. She took a deep breath. “How do I even know I can trust you? You’re a criminal, aren’t you? Why wouldn’t you take the money and leave once I’ve given you what you want?”

Leo leaned back in her chair. “I’m an honest criminal, Heir,” she began.

The shorter, chubbier of the two minions spoke for the first time, muttering under her breath, “I’m pretty sure ‘honest criminal’ is an oxymoron, actually.”

The taller, muscular one reached over and gave the short one a little smack on the arm. “I don’t think the Captain appreciates you calling her a moron, Gabi,” she scolded.

Leo’s overall expression didn’t change, but Illiana didn’t miss the exasperation briefly flashing through her eyes.

Another OC's birthday has arrived; Kayla Marabane! She is a bisexual Gotheek dragon who's also a Fallenbeast Slayer! She is one of my oldest existing OCs, being one of the few I created onve I started drawing more human forms in highschool!

Her very first design was uploaded November 2010 (shown here) and hoo boy she has changed a LOT since that very first iteration; she was paler and skinnier, and her personality was ditzy, quite battle hungry and a bit of a switch flip flop between a hero and a villain.

From the very start of her creation she was sorta smitten with Terra, but at the time Terra was being paired with a male OC at the time.

Oh how little did I know how much her love for Terra would take more the forefront while that other OC would get fully benched from existence

Look how different she is from way back then; she's now fatter, darker skinned, and much gentler despite her high energy nature. She's still a Fallenbeast Slayer though, its just that now she takes that responsibility cause she HAS to not cause she wants to.

You get to see the current newest iteration of her Slayer armor, even if it still is under WIP imo (very close to done though! still figuring out the hammer and cannon especially)

Her love for Terra hasn't changed though, & they are still one of my dearest OC couples I got. They don't kiss often but they do nosetouch and snuggle a lot as far as showing affection~

Though I enjoy shipping Kayla with others, Kayla/Terra is the OTP

I wanted to draw Kayla kissing some other characters for her bday I'm still unpracticed in drawing different kisses 😅

She may love most/all men/women but she definitely has a particular weakness for muscular peeps, especially strong/muscular women 👀 Oh to be princess carried~

It's funny thinking about the fact that in main-canon she probably can outmuscle the very types of people she covets

I enjoy drawing her happy in cute/pretty dresses (and she loves wearing them too), but I definitely want to draw her in more outfits (and not just dresses!), in more expressions (Even just different smiles; not all her smiles can just be happy smiles!), and her dragon form which I may redesign in the future.

Hi! I am (relatively? Subjectively?? Objectively???? All three?!?!?) new to Yu-Gi-Oh. I have seen it as a kid through YouTube amvs because I never really knew where to watch them. The only clear memory I have was watching Pyramid of Light but I heard people say it's not that good so I personally think it doesn't count 😅

Now that I am grown , I have readied myself to watch the original series and hyperfixate on it for a long while XD.

I am aware of the story, aware of the ships, and played the games (the first DS game I think, and currently enjoying Master Duel)

I know I shouldn't really "ship at first sight" but your artworks are one of the first to make me pay attention to Rivalshipping and be inspired to make a fanfic about them as I am a sucker for rivals-to-lovers, red and blues and the like .

This became long and winded so I just wanna ask, at what point/s be it anime, manga, movie/s, or subtext made you go:

"OMG, that makes so much sense. This! This is the essence of Rivalshipping!"

I also actually only watched some of the DM anime in our local TV when I was a kid (it only airs the first season / Duelist Kingdom and I don't really have access to get to know anything else from the franchise), played the card game with my brother. I remember liking Yamiyugi character more than anything else 😂 and love the monsters. But I haven't really immersed myself in it.

Years later I found out about Yamiyugi/Atem being Dead in the end and IT HURTS ME <\3 it was through a internet search (I didn't have access to internet back then) after I randomly ran into a local parody video of Yugioh (a team dubbed the YGOTAS in our local indigenous language and it was HILARIOUS it got me thinking "oh WOW been a while since I get this much laugh, I wonder how Yugioh is nowadays??")

After the initial Heartbreak of Losing Yamiyu, I also stumbled on the YGO manga- it was the first time that I knew YGO used to have more Horror elements, it was Really Fun!! I read a bit of the manga and I Really Like Yugi!!! That's the time I started to Understand the story, and began appreciating the characters more (other than Yamiyu haha) and then all my Attention just shifted to Yugi, and I Really LOVE Him, he's my babie

And then I stumbled on DSOD, and I thought "YGO got a Movie?? Well let's check it out, I wanna see More of Yugi" and then the Yugi in question comes out and he's SO DIFFERENT from the babie I used to know??? 😂😂 he's all Mature and stuff!! But he's SO SAD and that Sadness kinda pulls me in-

When Kaiba and Yugi starts their Duel I think THAT's when I got "oh yes: Them" because I think it was the first time I ever see a Kaiba vs YUGI not Yamiyu Duel and it was an Emotional experience, beside the Duel having Emotional backstory behind it too, it was just a whipslash of Emotion for me 😂😂😂

It was also when I started Noticing Kaiba's appeal as a character too. They are SO SAD in the DSOD movie that it draws me in <3

After the whiplash of Emotion from DSOD, I started to read the manga and watch the anime more carefully and started Noticing details- every little bits of interaction between Yugi & Kaiba, even the ones that only happens offscreen (like how Yugi mentions he visits Kaiba in the hospital a lot of times) makes it feel like everything that happens in DSOD really makes more sense, and it feels like it's Meant to happen, their story builds up to DSOD, and I really like that- they got Growth in their story, I think. I guess I lean more on the manga in story-line that makes me get interested in Them <3 but DSOD just seals the Deal 😂

Also after that I learned of that "4 years later" insta post by KT and it shows Kaiba and Yugi together Making Games, AND GOD IT WAS- IT TRULY SEALED THE DEAL... Everything Makes Sense, they're sooo build to be Together for me!!! 🥺🥺🥺

And welp now I'm here 😂

Okay so, story time.

My daughter just turned 9, and I kindaaaaa pushed her into the ATLA fandom, because I thought it was something really fitting for her. (Also, I'm a zutara shipper, one of the few non-canon ships I really connected to when I watched it). She also watched Korra and enjoyed both series very much. She's now doing a full rewatch right after finishing it

And then... she started giggling and talking nonstop about Zuko and I had this little moment of weird pride that took over??? At the same time, my husband was rolling his eyes and mumbling "what is it with all these bad guys with a dark past and their struggles?" to me and aaah... now he has two fangirls under the same roof and I am enjoying this way too much 😂😂😂 we've reached the point that she has convinced her friends to watch it and play ATLA every break at school. She's obsessed and every normal parent would probably minimize this but I am doing the opposite. I'm trying to give her some sense of fiction vs. reality, but without pressuring her not to use her imagination. I want to guide it in the right direction, you know?

Anyway.

The next week, she comes up to me: "Mommy, I know what I want to do! I want to write stories about ATLA! Because there aren't any translated from English to Dutch and it's so unfair! We should be able to enjoy some stories as well!"

And I'm like... 👀okay, good plan���

Of course, I encourage her. She always struggles with handwriting and she has to exercise more on her typing skills, and I'm glad she finally found something she really wants to do. It's been a while since she had this focus on something, youbknow? Apart from the fun, this is going to help her.

So I give her some headstart and ask about the plot, and we have this geek to geek conversation.

One day later, she wants to know what fanfiction is and how to write it and if she can find some to read herself. I'm like... 'eh?' 😳 Seems like daddy told her I write some too 🥲 I am sooo grateful she didn't ask further. She know it's about Star Wars and that's it. She hasn't seen the movies yet. So I'm still safe for now. (We wait a bit longer because my son and her are so easily scared 😅 we don't want it to be a bad experience, you know...)

And now I feel like I want to give her some fanfic to read, but since she's only 9, she doesn't understand English and throwing something in a translate tool is always weird. There might be some Dutch ones, but the chances of it being fit forbm her age and good quality are nonexistent (unless by any chance someone knows!!! Please share!!!). I really want to give her the best experience, you know...

As an extra, I really really don't have time now to screen some fics myself. So I hate the feeling I'm probably going to lose this momentum and maybe disappoint her.

Anyway. I am morally obliged to draw her fictional boyfriend villain. It's a challenge, since it's been so long since I could draw. But, maybe I just need this challenge to start over again. Starting after a hiatus is always tough on me. The 'mothers aren't allowed free time' syndroma always gets me. I just need to break through the barriers and maybe doing something for her instead of me will lessen the feeling of misplaced guilt.

Project Update

I've devoted quite a bit of time toward a comic project that I hope to share with everyone soon. By soon I mean... well, maybe not within a few days or a week from now, but hopefully by the end of October/beginning of November! Yeah, that sounds about right. I'm going to definitely push to post at least one page roughly around that time frame. This is also why I've slowed down with responding to ASKs or posting doodles. I've been really enjoying storyboarding the first chapter, which has surpassed 25 pages, so it has taken a lot of my attention this past week or two. 😅 Sorry - This comic will be a long ongoing project too. I honestly don't see it being finished within a year, maybe not even two years — it really depends. Especially when considering how many chapters it'll take to fully showcase it in all its glory. Or the additional bits I might add for visual flavor; doodles, extra content, etc.

Before I ramble on further, I want to mention this comic will be my first attempt to tackle such a big project. Ya' know, something that isn't a simple illustration or a one-page-hit-wonder, basically. I don't expect it to be perfect by any means. Hell, I expect to take the opportunity given to me as a learning tool. Something that'll allow me to figure things out and grow within my style/skills. It will 100% not be perfect, is what I'm saying.

However, this is a perfect way to explain what I meant by "opportunity". The writer of this story is not me! Yup, I'm just the illustrator guiding you on this adventure. I have graciously been given permission to draw a lovely fanfic that I've adored ever since I stumbled over it back in 2020. I am working closely with the author and, in my eyes, see this as a collab of sorts. They get FULL credit to all scenes, dialogue, and plot. They are an amazing writer, and I feel most of you might have already read this fic by them. Especially if you enjoy or admittedly ship David and Michael. No, I'm not ready to say just "who" or which story. I don't want to give away too much just yet!

But, yes, this will be a David x Michael fancomic/webcomic. If you don't particularly like that ship or disapprove of them being paired in such a fashion than please, by all means, don't read it — no one will be forcing you to consume such content. I will say this for now that it will be mature. Explicit, even, in later chapters. Such pages will not be posted directly to tumblr, of course. Not even with the new fancy label system. But I will have a link available on those particular pages. Despite me defining this to be mature, it's mainly an emotional trainwreck. Seriously, be prepared for that.

As briefly mentioned, I do plan to post everything but said explicit scenarios to tumblr on a side blog dedicated specifically for the comic (and any other content related to it.) That side-blog will be kept neat and tidy as to keep it well archived and easy to read. More on that as it gets closer to me finally posting pages. (I'll post it to another website too, most likely, that allows explicit imagery which is where the link will probably take you)

Man, I am so excited for this project! I can't wait to share it with everyone! I know it'll be a long journey but for those interested in tagging along, I hope you all enjoy it 🥰

favorite thing about them

Oh man, where to start? XD I love the way Nines talks there is down to earth lyricism to his speech in bloodlines especially during his talks with the fledgling, and how his voice is softer in LAbyN

I love how Nines is willing to fight for little guy and how he stands up and helps the fledgling with learning how to fight and gives them advice. also love how he doesn't fight the fledgling if they keep trying to pick a fight with him, he knows that it wouldn't be fair and again tries to reason with and give advice. says a lot about his character. I feel he's been there, angry and scared and wanting to fight everyone at one point.

And I love how much softer and calmer Nines became in LA by Night, the poor guy is tired but he's still very much a good guy at heart. :3 and I love how he tries to be a good mentor to Annabelle.

I also enjoy exploring his feelings of a leader of the Anarchs even though he clearly doesn't want to be, and is afraid of becoming corrupt, that is so fun to play with. Nines is a lot of fun to write for me, like you can explore his pre embrace family and pre bloodlines life and build on what canon gave us.

It could also be fun to play with a corruption arc for Nines too, like does he go all the way bad or is able to pull himself back into the light? 😈

least favorite thing about them

Dude really needs to actually be a part of the co-parenting when it comes to the fledgling, he and lacroix are meant to have shared custody damn it!

Also, Nines' behavior towards the Malkavian fledgling really irks me, like bro come one, be nicer (honestly I think he had a Malkavian babble some truths about himself he wasn't ready to deal with or mess with his head once and that's why he's prickly)

and even in LA by Night, Nines is still letting a baby vamp take on responsibilities that he should be doing (although at least he is mentoring Annabelle when the plot lets him 😭)

His hair is a bitch to draw though XDD and also he's not in vtmb as much he should be since he is a big deal and I have to say that I feel he should've been in LAbyN more often.

"You poor bastard. Listen, LA's the school of hard knocks, so keep your friends close and your enemies in a barbecue pit. Once you square things with LaCroix, don't give that son of a bitch the time o' night. I got my eye on you, kid." I love this line cause Nines is being tough but also helpful towards the fledgling. it also shows that he doesn't want to get too invested in case they die (like bro why you gotta be so aloof :((()

and of course

"You got spine, that's good. But, kid, if I was anyone else, you'd be blowin' in the wind right now. It's good you got fire, but don't go burnin' everyone you meet. Lotsa people here started out like you. You think that over - I got shit I got to set right."

This again shows that Nines doesn't want the fledgling to burn out and has seen other Kindred or been there himself in the past.

Nines' relationship with Damsel and Skelter is something I enjoy exploring and I really should do it more.

I do love the fact that Damsel and Skelter has Nines' back no matter what and I can see him doing the same for them too.

On one hand Damsel and Skelter are hero worshiping Nines so much in canon that I can see it muddling their relationship, especially when Nines fails to live to up their vision of him. But it also gives them the chance to grow their relationship into something more real and accepting.

again a lot of fun to play with in fics, and also I love them as a poly relationship too. :3

OTP

I have quite a bit XDD as I've said in the past LaCroix/Nines (the parallels and hate sex are too wonderful to not ship!) Nines/Ming Xiao (for more of the hate sex but also how they challenge each other's views, I feel that Ming Xiao would goad Nines into being a more presence leader and Nines would have her be more compassionate. but they'll be a lot fighting, there's just so much bad blood between them.) And of course LaCroix/Nines/Ming Xiao which I love the best since again it brings both dynamics to the table! (also the chance for a redemption arc for LaCroix and Ming Xiao or a corruption arc for Nines is very possible with this ship!)

Again I also ship Nines/Damsel/Skelter as a otp3 as well, and thanks to @badass-at-fandoming I've come to find Nines/Andrei an interesting pairing to ship as well. (the very bloody corruption arc is just too good to ignore as well!)

Again, I don't really have none besides I don't maybe Nines/Boris, I know the second Boris opens his mouth Nines will turn him into paste! XDDD

random headcanon

I might have said this before on my blog but whatever, I headcanon that Nines was embraced by Salvador García during the Second Anarch Revolt in a mass embrace and never told Nines he was his sire even years after the dust settled. Instead leaving MacNeil to help Nines learn the ropes of being a Kindred. MacNeil also knew that Nines was Salvador's childe but never told Nines out of respect for his friend.

Nines learns the truth after bloodlines and it shatters his whole world, feeling even more abandoned by Salvador, and feels a lot of self-loathing, believing that he wasn't even good enough to be raised by his own sire compared to Salvador's other childer.

Nines may have or not told Salvador that he knows but Salvador does know that he knows the truth and there is this tension between them that gets worse when Salvador comes back to the Anarchs like he hadn't betrayed the sect.

unpopular opinion

I've said this before but I really don't like how some of the fandom do treat Nines as someone who gets angry a lot more than he does in canon! XD Also ignore his faults and treat him as always perfect, which I think does a disservice to Nines' character.

In my Across The Lake AU they’re teens (16-18 roughly), I just used their default/canon images since I haven’t gotten around to drawing them yet 😅 Also I put question marks after their sexuality since I’m just sorta guessing, their sexualities don’t play an important part in my AU so it doesn’t really matter. 

(More details under the cut just cuz 😉)

Big/Little Spoon - They switch pretty often, but since Max is taller he typically takes on the big spoon first 

Clothes - Max pretty much never wears Mabel’s clothes, unless he’s really cold then he may swipe her least girly sweater, but she steals his all the time. He doesn’t mind, unless she makes “alterations” then it annoys him 

Pet Names - Mabel uses ALL the pet names, but Max thinks they’re too cheesy. He’ll usually only call her “babe” in public, but once while she was wearing a pair of cat ears he called her “kitty cat” and Mabel loved it so much it became a private nickname. However, he once slipped up and said it in public, prompting much teasing from Neil and Nikki 

Introverted/Extroverted - Mabel is the obvious extrovert of the two, which can sometimes stress Max out since he isn’t good with new people, but she gives him his alone time when he needs it, and sometimes she’s cool with just the two of them sharing some quiet time together 

Affection through words/actions - Mabel is VERY verbally affectionate and doesn’t miss an opportunity to tell Max how much she loves him, but he struggles to reciprocate in the same way. However he’s always doing little things to share his affection, like giving her the bigger half when they split a dessert, holding her hand and putting it in his hoodie pocket when it’s chilly, genuinely listening when she speaks even when she gets hyper, etc. 

Confessions - Honestly I haven’t 100% figured this one out yet, but since Mabel is the more verbal of the two she’d likely be the first to confess, but it likely took her a long time since she had no idea if he’d feel the same way. Meanwhile Max had never dealt with feelings like these before and had no idea what to do about it, but assumed Mabel wouldn’t be interested since she’s such a sunny person and he tends to be a downer, so he kept it all bottled up 

Bugs - Mabel likes most bugs, but if one is just a bit too big or too scary/dangerous she’d likely scream about it. Max is scared of most bugs, but won’t admit it and will just squish them before they freak him out enough to scream 

Drives - Max learned to drive late since his parents neglected to teach him, but when David finally learned he eagerly volunteered to teach him. Mabel failed her driving test 3 times before she finally got her license, but Dipper usually won’t let her get behind the wheel

Cooking - Max is a surprisingly good cook, since his parents couldn’t be bothered to cook for him and would usually just leave him money for takeout. Originally he’d just order pizza or Chinese food, but after a while he realized it was cheaper to buy a few ingredients at the local store, cook something, and then keep the rest of the money for himself. At first he’d just cook little things - hot dogs, grilled cheese, boxed pasta, etc - but after a while he started experimenting and learned to cook nicer meals. When he and Mabel started dating she was extremely impressed with his skills, so he started cooking for her since she loved it and he enjoyed the praise. Mabel on they other hand could burn water 🤣 However, she is a gifted baker, and loves to make cookies, cakes, and pies. 

PDA - Mabel loves all forms of PDA, and doesn’t care who’s watching or judging them. Max on the other hand gets very nervous/uncomfortable with PDA and gets either very flustered or very annoyed (or both) when Mabel starts being affectionate in public beyond hand holding/small kisses/simple hugs. Mabel tries to keep this in mind and tone it down for him, but sometimes she forgets or gets too excited and will randomly glomp him 

Overprotective/Chill - Mabel is surprisingly clueless when it comes to other people flirting, since she spent so many years misreading other’s signals and tended to judge based purely on her attraction to another person. This is especially prevalent when someone is flirting with Max, since it doesn’t happen often thanks to his “resting bitch face”, and because he literally never reciprocates. Max on the other hand is keenly aware when someone is hitting on Mabel, and will take on a protective ,“step off pal” body language, or shoot them a death glare that could freeze hell over. Despite this, he doesn’t really notice when others are flirting with him

Relationship Experience - Max has basically zero experience since he makes himself so unapproachable, so he’s frequently anxious that he’s doing things correctly. Mabel however has plenty of experience, but mostly in the form of casual dating and less so in terms of serious long-term commitment. This is usually because she can be quite shallow and tends to date based on looks, so she’s still learning about compatibility, and because she tends to scare her dates off with her over-eagerness. Max is an exception to her typically pattern, since she didn’t like him at first, but developed feelings for him over time

I love drawing, cooking/baking and although it's kinda silly, learning about different types of weapons (mostly small blades and guns, though I love wilderness traps as well!!) and learning about animals :3 I also have extensive medical and survival knowledge because of a "better safe than sorry" mentality :') my moral compass is solely based on if something hurts a person and if they deserve it, so hurting a regular person is a no-go but if someone's being a menace I'd gladly lend karma a helping hand >:-) I'm also VERY vocal if I have a problem with someone but I'm not a big fan of crude language so I'll give 'em the business in a respectful manner B-) I enjoy the company of others and like to consult those close to me when deciding important things too!! Not a big fan of flying solo

The only thing I really dislike is dishonesty. like, mostly when people lie to my face but also when people don't say what they mean and expect me to read their minds 😭 I'd much rather have things out in the open

Sunny's not great at cooking herself, so she'd love to try your recipes, but she'll go out and grab all the ingredients for you, just to make it a lil easier on ya.

She adores the way you stand up to the rude folks and put 'em in their place, and would find your medical and survival knowledge invaluable in terms of taking care of the people in town.

She'd also be enthusiastic to teach you what she knows about her firearms, and definitely would want to hear what you have to say about your own, and she has a tendency to always say what she means, so you wouldn't have any bones to pick about her honesty. Really, it just seemed like such a good pair :)

I'm a bit boring, my favourite trope is "happily married"😅 (I'm a bit tired of slow burns, miscommunications, jealousy, love triangles, cheating, etc, I guess I'm old now🙈 I prefer fics where my ships are already together, and facing the plot as a team secure in their love and relationship. I still enjoy a dramatic and angsty story, just no relationship drama and angst) Oh, and and another trope is time travel! And fix-it-fics. And for Everlark: "This would have happened anyway" fics

Okay, edit after finishing typing all this out : I’m really sorry I basically just started ranting out all my feelings about slow burn / fast burn couples (mainly from tv shows over the years). I probably talked too much and lost my point along the way butttttt. Here’s my over the top rant??? Sorry if it’s not the response you wanted 😭😭😭😭😭😭.

OH MY GOSH. Okay so like, my favorite trope is enemies to lovers and I love a moderate burn. Like the rushed couples (like the ones on Riverdale) I can’t get into. I cannot enjoy couples who get together and fall in love so fast. But also I’m with you, slow burn is *too* slow most of the time. Like if it takes more than a season of working to get them together I don’t want it, tbh. And I don’t mean like one season of a show as much as one season of setting the couple up.

I don’t know if you know the couples I’m referring to but it’s okay, because you really don’t gotta.

I’m gonna use Joey/Pacey from Dawson’s Creek, Logan/Veronica from Veronica Mars and Donna/Harvey from Suits. It’s not necessary to have seen any of these shows to understand what I’m saying here. I’ll explain this very simply.

Joey and Pacey were never set up to be a couple in seasons 1 and 2. They each had separate storylines and love interests and did not intersect romantically. But in season 3 the show did a moderate burn to build their friendship and budding romance up into a love story, until they got together at the end of the season and were together all of season 4 (and ended up together in the series finale). So technically it took 3 seasons to get them together but it didn’t really.

And then we have Logan and Veronica from Veronica Mars. They interacted together from the pilot (they hated each other) but it took 18 episodes for them to kiss and pretty large amount of screen time to build them up to that. Even after the kiss it took much longer for their relationship to progress into love. Which I like. Nothing feels cheaper to me than a sudden love revelation after three kisses in the span of two episodes.

Okay and now we have Donna and Harvey from Suits. I couldn’t think of a better one, I’m sorry. I’m not trying to diss them because they’re still cute but the writing for them could have drawn me in because the actors have serious chemistry but nope. The writers waffled back and forth on them too many times, dangled it before the audiences faces and then didn’t pull the trigger until near the end of the show. To me, by building up that much suspense, it makes it unsatisfying by the time the romance actually begins.

I just realized Barry/Iris from The Flash also definitely fit the “took too long and made me lose interest” bill but I don’t wanna get into them…

And then there’s certain fast-ish burns like Jamie and Claire from Outlander that I really enjoy because they’re the two central characters on the show and the shows about their romance so like, what are they gonna do??? Not build them up to get them together quickly when it’s what makes the most sense??? Like I suppose this whole rant could be summed up with, I really wish more tv show writers knew when to get couples together at the natural point it would make perfect sense. Drawing a couple out for three-plus seasons doesn’t work for me at all.

And then you also reminded me how much I love established relationships on shows and books and movies! Like, okay. Fran Dresher, the writer, producer and star of The Nanny, claims that getting Fran and Maxwell (Mr. Sheffield) together is ultimately what killed the show but I think that’s a lie. I love Fran and Maxwell so much, they’ve been one of my favorite couples since I was a little girl, but what killed the show was all the baiting and switches they did to prevent them from getting together. And what I love about them is the episodes after they got together.

But if you look at any of my really hardcore hyperfixation couples (which would honestly be Edward/Bella from Twilight, Spencer/Toby from Pretty Little Liars, Logan/Veronica from Veronica Mars and now Katniss/Peeta from Hunger Games) you notice there’s always a significant time portion after they fell in love that the story goes on and we see them as an established couple. Okay, Katniss and Peeta are really weird in this regard. Like they don’t fit this bill but they actually do???? Makes no sense but it makes perfect sense at the same time. Like I can’t ship a couple if it’s all build up and then fade to black. Or if it took too many years and attempts and take backs to get them together.

Because how are you supposed to have faith this couple will survive after the story ends if you don’t actually see them in an established relationship??? Yeah, some writers really need to take that into consideration.

Cheating drama is a huge no-no in couples for me. I mean there are some that I can still enjoy if they’re really messy and they cheat with each other on their other partners. But I only really like that if the couple is kind of crappy people to start with and they’re supposed to be like anti-heroes.

Now I’m a very jealous kind of person admittedly so I can support this only if there’s significant like, work through for the couple after the jealousy. Like in To All The Boys I Loved Before 2, when the main girl saw her boyfriend holding his ex and she wasn’t okay with it and got jealous and upset, there was not even a fraction of the kind of aftermath there should have been.

Love triangles are so old and overtired now like I’m completely over them altogether. I don’t mind the love triangle on Dawson’s Creek or One Tree Hill or even Euphoria now because it feels purposeful at least but lord. Too many shows do these love triangles and they literally suck the life out of the show if there’s zero purpose to them. Also we’ve seen enough of them so please, like literally, all tv / movie writers, just stop writing these things.

Like yesss my favorite thing is when the couple has an interesting story (with angst and cuteness) that gets them together but then once they’re together, they’re just together. The whole “we have to break them up for drama!!” is a lie uncreative people tell themselves. You can just create outside drama and let the couple be solid and good together. Like yes. Let them have occasional angst and fights but even that gets stupid a lot of the time with unnecessary issues just thrown the couples way but let them stay together and be there for the other in the hard times and the good. It’s not all just sex and break ups, writers. Seriously.

Lololololol I don’t know if I’ve ever really watched a show or read a book with time travel before. Is it good????

Oh wait. I spaced. Outlander, duh. My mind went right to Phil Of The Future and lemme tell you. Phil and Keely were my second grade otp.

photography and learning new languages is what bring occupies most dates. he’s so aesthetic that you can’t stop taking pictures of him (like who are you kidding) and both of you are so invested in different cultures that different languages really intrigue you and you turn them into a friendly competition. the next new places they go concerts / tour, you guys assign each other tasks to learn the language of that country.

you’re actually really great friends with yuta and whenever you guys hang out a lot ten would often say, “you know. thai people are more exotic than japanese.” like wow ten, real subtle there!

the only time he’s not jealous is when you’re with nct dream. he loves the dreamies so much. they his smols and precious. he knows jaemin flirts with you but it’s just friendly banter and he doesn’t really minds unless it’s someone from nct u or nct 127 and then he mans the fuck up which roughly translates to “ah, guys.. she’s my girlfriend,” in a meek and soft voice.

he’s not a person who outbursts or yells at others even under lot of pressure or if angry. he’s very calm but also scrupulous - towards himself and relies heavily on the input you provide towards his music and choreography. all in all, you’re an integral part of the nct family and they all love you. and ten loves you your ass with all his being.
